I don't know what to do anymore. I was heartbroken when they passed the laws about "gay propaganda" and transgender people, now I'm just numb. I don't want to escape. I just want to live safely in my own country.

EMERGENCY COMMISIONS

I'm currently in a dangerous situation. Russian government proclaimed LGBTQ+ an "extremist" movement this year. In 2013 they banned "gay propaganda" to minors then in 2022 to both minors and adults but queer people were still allowed to be queer. Now we can't be queer or else we will be chased and put in jail for being who we are.

I'm scared and stressed right now. People I can't trust know that I'm pan and trans, and I can't get a job, right now I only can afford food. I need to urgently run from my country because organisations helping queer people are close to be banned so I'm opening emergency commissions and donations to get visa and leave as fast as possible.

i feel like we don't talk enough about how emotionally exhausting it is to be not cis while speaking a heavily gendered language. i cannot be out for reasons of basic safety. but i also cannot make my pronouns other people's problem. i have to misgender myself at work. i have to misgender myself at home with family members. it is fucking soul-crushing. it crushed me so much i came out to my new psychiatrist even though earlier i specifically decided i wouldn't. i just. Could Not anymore. i have to pretend i'm not who i am. constantly. it's pressing down on me and i can't do shit about it. i fucking hate it here.

Regarding the current ongoings in russia

Two news stories, both happened in a span of just two days (links will be to the DOXA telegram channel - an opposition news media that opposed and keeps opposing the crazed government)

Delo LGBT+ (Дело ЛГБТ+), a former organisation of lawyers that aimed to protect rights of LGBTQ+ persons in russian courts, had to announce it's disbandment on Nov 30

On the night of Dec 02 LGBTQ+ clubs and saunas were raided by moscow city's police department.

I'm broadcasting this not in order to saw despair, but to, maybe, give some tangible proofs of how bad the situation is getting for those outside, who believe that all is not so dire

The decision of court from Nov 30 is yet to take effect in Jan 2024

These acts are not even legal by the standarts of russia's deranged law system

Please, if you can, sign petitions or send donations to organisations helping queers in russia right now.

Especially donations, since after Jan 2024 anyone supporting queer mutual aid orgs from inside russia will be regarded as terrorists as well

pride month is always both a very happy and a very difficult time for me.

you may or may not know this, but i’m russian. i was born and live in russia, english isn’t even my first language. you also may or may not know that russia is extremely homophobic and transphobic.

pride parades are illegal here. people get arrested for carrying rainbow flags. and everyone always says it will get better, but in fact it seems to be getting worse.

i am like, very queer. it's a huge part of my identity, and i wish more than anything i could go to pride events and celebrate with my fellow queer russians. but i don't get that. we don't get that. i'm lucky to at least have queer russian friends i can wish a happy pride and hang out with, but other than that, all my celebrating has to be online.

this blog, this tumblr community, it's all i have. it's my little window into pride. my partner, who's also very queer, lives in a different country. they can go to pride if they want. but i can't come with them.

it hurts. but then i see you all making art and spreading positivity, and it makes me feel so happy and warm! it makes me realize there are ways i can participate. i do have a voice.

so happy pride, my gray aces and other assorted queers. go out there and have fun in any way you're comfortable with. be safe. think of me.

It's honestly frustrating that I've seen non-Russian queer people almost bragging about how they would be illegal in Russia, labeled an extremist or terrorist. Russian queers are in danger, their government has made it clear where it stands, and it's made this effort for the better part of a decade (even longer, perhaps). This will kill people, don't mistake this for a quirky little proclamation from a government, akin to somebody saying the sky is pink. Russian queer people were already expressing their fear, and the least we can do now is express our love for them, and advocate with them.

Russian queer people, I love you. I love you all so much. I am so sorry, I cannot begin to express the grief that I feel, and I hope that you are safe. Words cannot encapsulate how I feel as a non-Russian, and I cannot hope to comprehend how it feels to actually be in this situation.

I live in the part of Ukraine which is currently occupied by R*ssia. Right now i don't have any means to leave this territory. Today r*ssian government enacted a new law. According to it, LGBT+ is a "forbidden extremist organization" (i know it sounds ridiculous but it's what the law says) and any "LGBT activity" is now a crime. Even having a pride pin on your backpack can cost you at least 6 years in prison.

I can't post about this on any other social media because it would reveal my identity which would put me in danger. I'm posting this for awareness. I'm posting this so people from other countries would know what sick shit is happening here. I'm not asking anybody to do anything. I don't know what can be done to stop this. I don't think anything can be done at this point. R*ssia is going down. They've criminalized LGBT+, they're about to criminalize abortions. They've started a fucking WAR, they're killing my people. They're oppressing their own citizens.

I don't know what to do, i can't leave, i have no money, no education yet, and i have a family, i can't just leave them. I didn't ask to live in this insane country with inhumane laws, they came here and fucking occupied the place where i live.

If you're from another country, please spread awareness, educate yourself and don't support r*ssian government. If you're from r*ssia, hold on. I know you're scared, i'm scared too. But you're not alone. Just hold on.

LGBTQ+ RIGHTS IN RUSSIA ARE BEING ERODED COMPLETELY

The ministry of justice in Russia has proposed to label "the global organization of LGBT" an extremist group. The court case is set to happen on the 30th of November. If passed, this measure will make LGBTQ+ activism near impossible. Activists could face up to 6 years in prison. Yes, 6 years for advocating for equal rights.

Despite the fact that lawmakers have no legal footing to judge "the global organization of LGBT" as an existing group, considering there is no hierarchy, no leader and no such name is used widely, this will probably be passed. And the lives of queer Russians will be in jeopardy.

I beg of you to spread this post. I know it's exhausting considering everything that's happening in the world. I know the genocide in Palestine is more pressing, I know the war in Ukraine is still happening, but please. We need to be heard. Someway. Somehow.

I'm Russian, I'm queer, I will not let this regime break me. no matter how hard it tries.
