I wonder what the largest shellfish is?
Edit: Okay this post is getting a LOT of traction. What is going on?
Edit: Fucking hell.
This post has set off a fucking MINEFIELD!!!
What have I DONE????!!!!!
I’ve lit the blue touch paper and found there’s nowhere to run to!
I’ve summoned a wolf only to unleash a tiger!!!!! Made of fire! And nails.
Probably….
Idk.
Edit 2: 5,000 Notes! Good god! What the HELL do you want from me. I’ve never had a post of mine take off like this until now.
Some got close like the one about homeowner associations (fucking powertripping middle aged mediocrities!) which got at least 1.5k notes but this is the most I’ve gotten on a single post so far.
Anyway.
AND this post has officially gone to hell. (6,666 notes)
Edit: 8,000 notes! Holy shit!
Edit: 9,000 notes!!!
Edit: 10,000 notes!!!!!!!!!
Edit: 15,000 notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: 20,000 Notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHO THE HELL TURNED OFF THE REPLY THREAD FOR THE REBLOGS?!
Okay never mind it’s back. For now at least.
Anyway.

welcome to Hell Froze Over!
be glad youre not there :)
we have:
Ice Spike Regions areas covered in towering ice spikes. traveling through those regions is risky due to falling debris and strong winds.
Worm Tunnel Cities some cities/towns are built within the ancient tunnels of ice burrowing worms. theyre generally warmer thanks to their shape, which helps with even heat distribution.
The average snowstorm (and a crash-site city) sometimes also referred to as "the wrath of God", for uh.. obvious reasons (theyre big and scary and sooo deadly)
The Hunting Grounds general name of areas with high Icebreaker worm activity along the equator. the ice is much thinner there compared to the rest of the planet.
Ribbon Valleys places named after their characteristic striped icebergs.
Geothermal Areas (with stalker and flying worms) so far only two have been discovered. theyre the only places where the ice has melted enough for the ground to be visible. unfortunately theyre also known for being worm hotspots, thus hard to access.
+ some planetary scribbly stuff & ramblings below the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the planet is a frozen wasteland on the surface, covered in a thick ice shell that thins around the equator, with liquid water and a (possibly) volcanic seafloor deep below. theres very little land right under the ice and the planet would be a water world with few islands scattered about if not for the extremely low temperatures.
there are a lot of unknowns about whats going on below the ice since humanity doesnt have the equipment for that kind of research and everyone is too busy trying to survive the cold.
Hell Froze Over doesnt really have seasons like our planet does since its axial tilt is minimal. instead it has pseudo-seasons caused by its elliptical orbit.
its either cold or colder. the highest recorded temperature in the habitable zone was -34°C during the "summer" season. during winter it can drop all the way down to -90°C.

Introducing bison to Britain is honestly such a stupid idea. To start with, if you look it up European bison have never been native to the uk, they’re just related to the forest bison which WAS native, but also went extinct in the Pleistocene, some 12,000 years ago. I don’t feel like you can call introducing a species which is related to a different species that went extinct when there were hippos and lions in Britain reintroduction. And there really aren’t that many places for them to go either. Nature reserves and forests big enough to support a population of bison generally already have an established population of wild ponies that they’d compete with, and a lot of the time farmers have grazing rights for their sheep and cattle on common land as well. Plus there’d be no way for the bison to travel between them so there’d be no population mixing. The current “rewilding” project is basically just 3 European bison in a private zoo in some Kent woods, and it’s really difficult to see how it could ever be more than that.
Ah, I see. I hadn’t realized the bison in the UK were not only a different species from wisents altogether but also not found there since the Pleistocene.
So would you perhaps say that, pardon, the UK wants to release random [Eastern European] animals into their ecosystem?

I will listen to your rant about the correlation between birds and native plants
okay i was just ranting abt this to everyone who would listen on insta bc it’s very important to me so. here
(just as a disclaimer: i’ll mostly be talking about north america and north american wildlife because they’re what i have the most experience and knowledge about. i will try to make my statements as general as possible for ecosystems in other parts of the world, but just keep this in mind)
okay. i fucking *hate* lawns. just with a passion. i hate plain grass lawns. and the lawncare industry. the lawncare industry is absolutely *insidious*, it paints native wildlife and plant life as “pests” and is actively trying to eliminate essential native species like terrestrial isopods, ladybugs, wasps, milkweed, dandelions, wild garlic, etc (i know dandelions aren’t native to north america, but they’re technically not invasive bc they don’t choke out or harm native plants, they’re just kind of there). getting rid of these essential species is a recipe for disaster, it kills biodiversity and in turn starves any secondary consumers like birds and small mammals. lawns are also a eurocentric standard, originating from england and france. they perpetuate the capitalist ideal that everything has to be neat and clean and perfect, and the lawncare industry *knows* that a perfect lawn at all times is unattainable, and it will just keep selling chemicals and killing essential wildlife until the ecosystem collapses entirely. i hate lawns

Bram is a literal undead king. He'd be some deep ocean strong a big creature for sure something that looks that will eat you in minutes but it's actually kind of chill having no desire to hunt humans
I PROPOSE: THE BLOODBELLY COMB JELLYFISH
Tumblr media
They're pretty small (16cm length and 10 width is big for them) but live very deep in the ocean, and eat little bioluminescent fish! They're red to mask the fish's bioluminescence so other prey can't spot them. The one in the pic is red but they can also be purple or black! They live in the Pacific at depths of 250-1500m. That's just based on aesthetics though! I also propose:
THE FRILLED SHARK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They might look scary, but these guys eat small fish and cephalopods, not humans! They're around 1.5m (5'2 ft) long and live between 50-200m though they have been observed at depths of more than 1000m. They're considered living fossils because like lots of other freaky sea creatures (hi horseshoe crabs I love you) they haven't evolved for millions of years. Those scary things in their mouth are the teeth, which help keep prey down. They're also called lizard sharks!
