The main theme or message I took away from it was that vengeance is a vicious cycle. Vengeance makes you do things you otherwise wouldn’t because of all the anger and hatred you harbour inside. But it’s like no matter how justified you believe you are in your need for revenge, somebody who doesn’t deserve it will always get caught in the crossfire. Maybe they’re in your way, maybe you’re just desperate to see the end. But somebody that shouldn’t always pays for your bloodlust. Somebody that only gets involved in the chaos of all of that because they care about you.
And I like that the game was trying to teach this message rather than just have the audience side with Ellie or Abby in being against each other while they’re the only main protagonists that you play as in the entire game. It’s different and was something worth learning. That vengeance is a never-ending goal. And in the end they were just causing each other even more pain by striving for that goal. You know how they say that in a war no one wins because both sides have already lost? It’s like that. The best thing to do is to stop fighting. To let go. But it’s easier said than done.
I knew there would be serious repercussions for what Joel did in his effort to save Ellie’s life. And I’m not saying he should have just allowed them to murder her for the cause of protecting what was left of the human race. But at the same time, killing everybody in that hospital made him no better than them. I don’t know what the right decision would have been were I were in his shoes but I don’t think it was that. You can love somebody so much that you would kill for them but it doesn’t make it right. And there will be severe consequences for it. The game isn’t saying Joel and Ellie deserved what they got. It’s just saying it’s what happens because violence breeds violence. And it’s a lesson worth teaching as hard as it is to swallow when you’re so attached to these characters that you’ve spent so much time with and enjoyed the dynamic between them. Enjoyed becoming invested in them.
I get it. But at the same time the situation is very complicated and controversial and therefore what happens is what happens. The human condition is filled with contradictions but if you can see it from the other side, you have the perspective and the opportunity to stop rather than perpetuate the same cycle. That’s all it’s saying. No platitudes about what’s right and wrong or good and evil. That’s not the point.
Just… that you have the power to stop the cycle. And it’s entirely up to you what you do with that power.
It’s a great story. But I understand why people don’t like it. They don’t like how it forces them to see a perspective that they don’t want to. They don’t like having to face that their own emotional attachments aren’t the be all end all. And that while Joel and Ellie never deserved what they got - they got it due to the actions and choices that they made regardless because they wouldn’t give up on each other and believed that the ends would justify the means. But there is no end to revenge because it’s a vicious cycle. So the means are too. That’s just the hard truth of it.
I mean what can you say, huh?
Ellie’s not right.
Abby’s not right.
It’s all not right. But it is what it is.
I don’t feel sorry for either Ellie or Abby. I feel sorry for everybody that loved them and everybody that died because of their choices. I know it’s so, so hard to let go of vengeance when you’ve been wronged to the point of losing someone that you love and hold dear. But is it worth it if you don’t? That’s the lesson in this.
You can both have your revenge out all you want. But the world is bigger than your own personal vendetta.

The Last of Us - Episode 1 (2023) Review
Tumblr media
Pedro Pascal once again plays the ultimate dad.
Plot: Twenty years after a fungal outbreak ravages the planet, survivors Joel and Tess are tasked with a mission that could change everything.
Ah here we are again - a video game being adapted into a movie/TV show. These don’t usually bode well. However HBO seems to have really gone all out on this one, by not only hiring Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin as one of the creators of the show, but also Neil Druckmann as the other creator. For those wondering who in the heavens this Druckmann chap may be, well he’s the fella who’s behind the original The Last of Us games. As we know those games definitely have a very strong fanbase and there isn’t even the slightest amount of disagreeable opinions in the regards to the sequel game whatsoever, so obviously everyone is so on board with Druckmann taking the reigns over the HBO series also, right?? To be fair, love or hate the narrative choices of the second game, hiring Druckmann to co-create the show proves that HBO set out to get the best team to make it; one that understands the world created in the game and one that would actually share a passion to create something special.
The result? The first episode has now aired and so now we are able to feast our eyes on either the mess that has been created, or another masterpiece from the Naughty Dog team. Luckily, judging from the first episode, it is the latter, as I am happy to report that HBO might just have a bombshell on their hands. Look, I’m going to come out clean - I’ve never played The Last of Us games myself. I tried do, I really did, but for some reason the gameplay and controls weren’t doing it for me, which was strange as I absolutely loved playing the Uncharted games (also created by the same studio). However I really enjoyed the world and the atmosphere of the games, so like a loser would, I went onto good old YouTube, and enjoyed watching a walkthrough of the game, where I could avoid the gameplay but enjoy the story. By the way, if you’re a loser like me who likes spending time watching walkthroughs, check out @theRadBrad channel, as he’s actually great at showcasing all the better qualities and aspects of the video game content that he plays. Anyway, coming back to the HBO show, what I immediately enjoyed was how the show is evidently first and foremost made for newcomers to the franchise, as the surprises and plot twists in the game are treated with just as much shock value and suspense in this first episode. For example, keeping it spoiler-free even though 99% of the gaming community know about it, the show when it starts follows a certain character, making it seem like they will be the main protagonist and we shall be following the story from their eyes. However within the first 20 minutes or so this character is brutally killed. Again, the original game’s opening is iconic, yet the show treats this plot twist with as much attention if not more. As we actually get to spend even more time with this character, seeing how they interact in the real world before the outbreak even begins, and I really enjoyed that. It gave the show more purpose. This isn’t just a means to get fans of the video games to shed out more dollar, it’s actually an opportunity for non-games to be able to experience themselves the world of The Last of Us without the need of having to move around joysticks aimlessly.
The first half an hour of this episode is simply ace. It’s thrilling, suspenseful and really throws you into the action and drama that this world is known for. The remainder of the episode is much more slower, however very necessary in building up the relationships and character dynamics that will surely play a major role later in the show. For a first episode this one does exactly what it needs to. In a way it reminded me of the very very first The Walking Dead episode, when one moment Rick and Shane are sitting in their cop car enjoying burgers and chips, and then the next Rick Grimes wakes up alone in hospital in the middle of a zombie outbreak. Back then that episode screamed potential and that we were in for something amazing. Which it was, until The Walking Dead ended up being 11 seasons long + spin-offs. However with The Last of Us seemingly following the game narrative really closely, I don’t imagine it will go on forever.
I also love the visual look of the show. Talking about the game’s atmosphere, this post apocalyptic world looks real. You’ve got the fungi growing on walls, the weathered half fallen skyscrapers... in the last moments of the episode you see our main characters set out on their journey into this wilderness and I cannot wait to see what more horrors this world will bring. Speaking of the main characters, Pedro Pascal is Joel, and if that isn’t some perfect casting right there! If you ever need an ultimate dad being a total badass, Pascal is your mad! *insert Ludwig Goransson’s The Mandalorian theme* He shows so much emotion in his eyes of regret, hurt and grief, yet still trying to make things work in this new horrible reality. Bella Ramsey as also showcases Ellie’s sassiness to the fullest, in fact more so than in the games, as she is willing to knife someone without hesitation and will cuss when need to. You can tell this Ellie has grown up in a post apocalyptic world and has learnt to adapt to her surroundings.
Look, I’ve already made my point. This is a great start to The Last of Us series, and I shall be tuning in to see where it goes next. I mean, it’s a show that features Pedro Pascal in the lead, how can you not want to watch that!? The guy is a natural charmer.
Overall score: 8/10

Hey, guys, can we all agree to unsubscribe from any youtube that does a walkthrough or Letsplay of Hogwarts Legacy? Even if you only do so for long as they are actively recording gameplay? Even if we otherwise like their channel? I've already unsubscribed from theRadBrad until further notice for this reason and I think it's important we let content creators know we not endorse them so long as they endorse Rowling in any way.

I fucking miss old school youtube lets players yknow. the ones who actually talked and brought their own personality into the videos they made and more often than not committed to finishing the games they started and made multiple videos of them and their commentary was actually relevant to the game and what they thought and how they felt about it and not just random garbage they're chatting with strangers cus you're not actually watching a let's play you're just watching a stream vod. most of youtube let's plays are either "no commentary" or just live stream vods these days. I'm gonna sound selfish but talk to me. tell me what you think about the game. why are you doing what you're doing. how do you feel about the characters. how do you feel about the story. idgaf that someone in your twitch chat went to see the newest marvel movie and now has thoughts about it and wants to know your take on that movie too I don't fucking care and I don't want to hear about it when I'm watching a video of a completely different game I very specifically looked up because I care about that story and want to experience it while knowing I'm too bad at video games to play it myself.

#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall update
#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall portable
#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall Ps4
It’s an unhappy medium: occasionally satisfying but mostly just rote futuristic killing. On the other hand, the game isn’t refined enough for you to need anything other than the gun you start with and one other of your choice. While the shooting itself is fairly strong, with nice physics and a satisfying punch to everything you fire, your weapons aren’t overpowered enough to give the game a silly, old school-vibe that would suit the sheer volume of people you have to wipe out. The closest you’ll ever get to needing strategy will be when you’re rushed by a certain foe which has an energy-based overshield that must be destroyed first. Stealth is encouraged, but rarely necessary, and you’ll be soon be reaching for the big guns. Holding it for longer reveals enemies further away, but press it for too long and it’ll give away your position to said troops.Īgain, though, a lack of Helghast types and tactics will see you inching through enemy lines, blasting away. There are also non-drone buffs, such as a cool radar ping system that is activated by holding right on the d-pad.
#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall portable
You’re almost constantly accompanied by the OWL, a drone which you can instruct to hack terminals, shoot enemies, short out electric defences and even use as a portable zipline. It’s a shame, because Guerrilla gives you the tools to create interesting combat scenarios it’s just they’re never needed. Enemy AI isn’t stupid, but it’s not strong enough to do anything but rush you or wait for you to fillet them. Sadly – a few missions aside – the combat situations you find yourself in during your jaunts are just plain dated, a mixture of attritional pop-shotting and slow, creeping advancement. Obvious touchstones, but again, the level of detail makes plowing through them rewarding. There’s also a large dollop of Metropolis in the over and underworlds – and their denizens – that form the conflict. Blade Runner is a huge influence, as is, it appears, Dredd’s Mega City One. In fairness, the developer mixes locations up well: from abandoned space stations to gleaming cities of the future. More than that, it enables Guerrilla to send the player anywhere it wants in said world. It drives the story well enough though, even if it’s not anything special. It is, essentially, just a far more po-faced exploration of this. It’s a world away from the nonsense jingoism of Call of Duty: Ghosts, for example, but at the same time it’s predictable and basic, with the ending telegraphed within about 25 minutes of the game starting. The conflict is built upon the examination of who the good and bad guys actually are, with allegiances shifting as propaganda loses its power and new revelations unfold. The narrative – a Cold War where infiltration, subterfuge and covert ops reign – is just as murky.
#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall Ps4
It’s a dirty world, and the PS4 renders it well. Take a look around the ghetto of New Helghan, and you’ll find tiny bits of detritus, rendered in formidable detail, with sprockets, pencils and other trinkets lying around. It’s not just on larger scales where Guerrilla makes an impression, either. It’s an excellent backdrop for Guerrilla to tell its tale of a world divided by a global Iron Curtain, and PS4’s technical advantages are a demonstrable boost to the aim of making players feel like they’re participating in a world at war. Frame rates are stable with lighting, draw distance and levels of detail being simply superb. Texture quality (for the most part) is high, and the amount of world geometry they cover gives the game a dense, intricate look and feel. This, however, is classic Killzone, as is the rest of the game: gorgeous, weighty, interesting, silly, overwrought, dated, and dull.Īs a technical showcase, Shadow Fall is impressive. The answer, of course, is no – the camera is just curiously low to the ground. ‘Am I a dwarf?’ This was a genuine question I asked myself a few hours into Shadow Fall.
#Theradbrad killzone shadow fall update
We will update the review with multiplayer impressions and a score once we have experienced it. As multiplayer wasn’t available at the time of review, has decided not to publish a score at this time. Editor’s Note: This is a single-player review of Shadow Fall.

Holy shit! This looks incredible! I can’t wait!
Looks like they’re bringing classic AC back with this instalment. I’m very excited for this to drop. I’m still making my way through ‘Odyssey’ on the PS5 and I’m almost - ALMOST - finished with 100% completing ‘Tears Of The Kingdom’ so I’ll dive straight into this.
Pun very much intended.

Hii! So I’m new in the Call of Duty fandom but I don’t play the games like on the ps5, etc… I only play Call of Duty on my phone and I got addicted and began digging deeper so here I am! Since I don’t/can’t play the different games of cod do you recommend any channels on youtube that does an amazing walkthrough of the games? I really really want to watch some walkthroughs but I don’t know whats the order of watching each game?? Does each game connect to each other? I’m still kind of confused since I’m still new😅😅. I’m sorry to disturb you though but I hope you can help me😭
Hey anon! That's absolutely alright, I do know of some YouTube channels that you can watch that I would recommend! (I'll link videos and channels as well so it's easier for you)
If you are interested in the gameplay as well as the actors, Dan Allen Gaming is always a good place to turn. He does interviews with the call of duty actors, sometimes plays some games with them, and it's all around fun.
It's great for me to get a different aspect of it, especially the characters and personalities of each individual aside from gameplay which I enjoy. And you might too.
Hallow is another YouTuber who does pretty good playthroughs. Such as the likes of Spider-Man games, but he has a full playthrough of the Modern Warfare Two game without any commentary. He also goes through the first Modern warfare in the reboot trilogy.
Another series I saw was from Typical Gamer which has a couple-part series of the game, this time a walkthrough.
CecliusPlays HD also has some commentary and his walkthrough goes mission to mission so it's not as much a sit through.
These alone are all of JUST the 2022 reboot of modern warfare 2.
TheRadBrad also does playthroughs for both modern warfare 2 and 3.
Shirrako has a gameplay video for Call of Duty Vanguard as well.
GTA 4 PC also has a playthrough of the 2009 game. (I'm having trouble finding ones for the first game if anyone has that, great)
Gamer Max Channel has a walkthrough of the modern warfare 3 game from the og trilogy.
KAHVERENGi AYI does a full gameplay playthrough for the Call of Duty Ghost's campaign.
SycoSquirrelSSU has a playlist of their Call of Duty Black Ops walkthrough.
These are currently the only YouTubers on YouTube alone that I have watched for commentary. I usually watch them so I can go back and see little scenes for fics and stuff. And on Twitch you can find some of the Call of Duty actors who also play in Warzone if you're ever interested.
I hope this was helpful and you can find what you're looking for. Welcome to call of duty 😊
