Modern au genderqueer nmj but they talk about it in a way that makes them sound transphobic. What he means is "I use any pronouns/honorifics and I don't have a preference" what she says is "Oh I don't care about that stuff. Don't know why people make such a big deal out of it. 🙄"
i am. so late. happy mer-june. which is pride month, so here's some random thoughts that i cant remember if ive shared;
cmar!dion would transition during the storm. pre-storm, dion would only use he/him. after running away would be when they would even consider the thought of being trans. only about 6 months after the storm's beginning would di really think about it, but by the end of it she's transfem assuredly, using she/they/he
raz is also trans in this au. this is not relevant at all throughout it, he just is.
I feel like I've been a bit mean about the fandom lately so I do want to reiterate that I firmly believe fandom is for having fun. You can write whatever kinds of fic and meta you want and more power to you, you are not at all bound by what is and is not actually canon. Hell, I have my own dearly held headcanons and fic ideas and AUs that involve woobified and fandomized succ characters. I get it. I guess I just wish there was a bit more self-awareness as to when you've left the realm of what is actually canon, as well as some more awareness of watsonian v doylist interpretations. You can interpret canon however you want, but it's helpful to be aware of when your interpretations are probably not what the showrunners intended. I genuinely love hearing wacky re-interpretations of the characters, and some of my favourite meta involves drawing connections that I'm 90% sure the writers were not thinking of, and I don't mind a good uwu soft tomgreg fic once in a while, but it does bother me when these sorts of interpretations are passed off as being intentional and/or canon. At a certain point it goes from re-interpretation to misinterpretation, and it seems to be breeding a lot of hostility between different parts of the fandom that I think would be greatly reduced if we were all able to make those distinctions
fascinated with the way that the people who vocally detest queerbaiting and demand “good” representation……are usually also the same people who will take a statement of love, or a loving action from a character that is not explicitly implied as romance love within the text, and enthusiastically accept it as proof a queer ship is “canon”
like, y’all……if you don’t want these shows to keep giving you crumbs……get off the floor and stop acting like a vacuum cleaner
introducing a new segment called: "i can't prove it, but i'm right", the place where i come up with headcanons and say "yeah that'd fit :)"
up first: abby 100% would read/write fanfic if she were a modern teenager. she'd start a fic that would get super popular in a fandom and then lose motivation and stop writing and fake her death or something to prevent people from asking her what happened.
