I don’t know who needs to hear this but no mentally ill person is capable of evil that you are not. We are capable of abusing others, yes, but so are you. Our capacity to hurt people is the same as yours because to abuse is to make a choice, it is not something out of your control.
Narcissistic abuse isn’t real because pwNPD are not capable of abusing others in a way that people without NPD are not. If you have been hurt by one of them, well you’re capable of doing the same things as them. You are not better than them just because you don’t have a certain condition. You may tell me ‘a narc will destroy you to your core’ but so will you.
And I have been hurt by someone with BPD. I should have kicked her to the curb sooner than I did. I shouldn’t have let her hurt me like that. But you know what? The things she did to hurt me? People in my past who didn’t have BPD did the same things to me. Why would I blame her disorder for what she did if it’s clear that she didn’t need it to make that happen? She chose to be like that.
You are working in the favor of your abusers by blaming their behavior on mental illnesses. You’re handing them a get out of jail free card on a silver platter. Worse, you’re burning vulnerable people who did nothing wrong at the same time. Don’t absolve your abuser of guilt. Acknowledge that they chose to be the way they did.

also this is the last thing for now, but when I was first figuring this stuff out (pre-diagnosis), I googled "is it possible to have more than one personality disorder?" and found the answer to be "yes, but steer clear of someone who does!"
so I just wanted to say... if you have more than one personality disorder, you are still worthy of good things. you can still live a good life. you can still have strong connections to other people, and you can still learn to love yourself. having a personality disorder doesn't make you a bad person, and neither does having several personality disorders

Ugh there's a band that plays lots of shows in my town and they have "schizo" in their band name. Nothing on any of their bios says any members are schizo-spec, or talks about the meaning behind the name at all, but they do describe themselves as "wild" and "insane". It's just so annoying honestly. I'm always checking my favorite local venue's upcoming shows and whenever I see that band name I just roll my eyes. It would be different if they used their platform to spread awareness about schizo-spec disorders, but it seems like they just use "schizo" to seem weird and crazy which is just so disappointing to see over and over again.

Respect psychotic folk!!!
respect psychotic folk by not assuming they're automatically dangerous or hostile.
respect psychotic folk by not feeding into and/or confirming their delusions/hallucinations.
respect psychotic folk by not calling strangers "delusional" when they disagree with you.
respect psychotic folk by not pseudo-diagnosing criminals as psychotic with barely any evidence.
respect psychotic folk by not interacting with "schizoposting" posted by non-schizo specs.
respect psychotic folk by not showing them potentially paranoia-triggering memes.
respect psychotic folk by not interacting with memes that make fun of the psychotic experience.
respect psychotic folk by realizing that none of the things listed are too much to ask for, and that it takes no effort from your side to not be sanist.

It's sanist to say that paraphiles should kill themselves or should be killed.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles are predators or abusers.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles need to be institutionalized.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles can't control themselves.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles need to "cure" themselves of their attractions.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles are sick or are a sickness.
It's sanist to say that paraphiles should silence or quiet themselves.
Stop being sanist.

What would your reaction be to a pilot program confining male comedians to safe asylums until they prove they are safe to interact with women and kids? Ideally they would be able to perform under guard and psychiatric supervision, and after a period of years a panel of social workers, doctors and women from the community would assess their compatibility with society at large.
Which males are those? Black? Brown? Indigenous? Undocumented immigrant? Muslim? Disabled? Mentally ill and neurodivergent? Queer? Trans men? Unhoused and poor? All of those men already get arbitrarily thrown in what you euphemistically call "safe asylums" because their very existence is seen as dangerous to women and children. It's why I'm a prison abolitionist. And now you want to add the crime of making bad jokes?
See where it says "Radfems DNI" on my bio? That means clowns like you who send me asks like this. Even if you meant it as a joke, this entire premise is grossly ableist, and pathologizing half the human population frankly unhinged. Take your white female victim complex and GTFO.

Had a couple experiences today, so-
Don't expect neurodivergents/disableds to erase their emotions, symptoms, or needs for you.
When I say neurodivergents/disableds, I mean ALL neurodivergents/disableds. I mean every level of support needs. I mean people with severe trauma. I mean people who can't live by themselves. I mean people who see and hear and think in ways that others call crazy. I mean people who can't control their emotions/emotional reactions. I mean people that you think are "annoying" or "off-putting" or "gross" or "insane" or "delusional" or "ugly".
A lot of people can't make themselves your personal safe space. Thank you for reading.
(For reference, I am medium support needs autistic, visibly physically disabled, chronically ill, personality disordered, and schizophrenic.)

hey just a psa, there’s this blog called @/understandingclusterb-npd and they are… atrocious.
I don’t usually mention individual blogs or directly call out anyone, but I mention the blog name here because I want people to be aware and avoid this blog if possible. Basically everything they spread is active villainization and misinformation about narcissistic people. It’s all the classic falsehoods of “narcissists are inherently evil people who abuse everyone they know”, which is a narrative that is factually not true and despicable to spread. Please stay away from them and any other blog that might be run by the same person, as the format of the username seems to imply there being more blogs.
They have closed their ask box and restricted their comments, probably because actual people with npd have been trying combat their misinformation and tell them to stop.
The nerve to call the blog “understanding cluster b” and then actively spread misinfo and ignore the actual people you’re talking about is fucking astounding to me in the worst way possible.

Hi, sorry for bothering you. Could you explain the "grippy socks" phenomenon thing? I have tried looking it up but the only thing I found were actual socks so I think I'm missing some context.
It's an online term that refers to the type of socks they give you in psychiatric hospitals (with the rubbery bottoms to prevent slipping on the hard floors). This goes over the origin of this as a meme:
But with that has come plenty of sanist memes as the socks are a visual representation of people who have been in psychiatric facilities, and will use "grippy socks" and terms like "crazy" interchangeably. People also try to make it cute sounding by calling a stay at a psych ward a "grippy sock vacation", belittling what the experience is actually like for a lot of people. The meme has also been used to restate the old, misogynistic "joke" that "crazy girls are better at sex" with the new saying "grippy socks, grippy box" (eww). It's also worth noting that a lot of people using this phrase in memes haven't actually been to a psych ward themselves, they use it to describe their mental state like "I'm afraid to be too honest with my therapist, I'm afraid they'll put me in grippy sock jail". Which is a little frustrating as someone who has had psych ward stays, it's weird to see people use it to describe themselves when they haven't actually had to go.

This one goes out to all the systems out there that are on the schizophrenia spectrum, or experience psychosis in general!
Shoutout to those who:
Frequently experience positive symptoms and negative symptoms
Almost never experience positive and negative symptoms
Experience one of the two categories more frequently over the other
Are unmedicated, by choice or by circumstance
Struggle to discern what's reality
Have their psychosis affect their system or plurality as a whole
Have origins such as psygenic, deligenic, hallucingenic, etc
Can't tell whether they experience headmates or hallucinations
Have symptomholder headmates for their disorder
Etc.!
You're have just as much worth on this planet as everyone else does; you are not inherently dangerous or bad because you have one of these diagnoses. You are not weird, or cr*zy, or a sch*zo, or whatever other sanist thing the nonpsychotics come up with this week. You are so, so important and loved.
Stay safe.
🖤💜💙💚💛

tw: sanism, school, negative emotions
in school, bc of the selective mutism, i was a ‘pleasure to teach’ up until the point where i became a ‘creepily silent kid who was brilliant academically but falling behind their peers socially and we think he’s not trying to engage.’ and that just tells you a story about how the school system ignored my mental illness because it was useful for them that i was silent, until that meant it deteriorated and was treated like a personal flaw.
the double-edged sword of how they treated me has shaped how i perceive work, productivity, my abilities, self worth, everything, all in relation to how much of a gift and/or an obstacle they deemed my mental illness to be. the question to them was never how much it hurt me; only whether it helped or hindered my grades, attendance, social conformity and so on.
yeah i fucking hate the school system. literally everywhere, in general, the way they approach mentally ill students needs to change 🌹🌹

sanism, ableism, fucked up shit said to narcissists
So apparently some people still don't believe ableism against NPD/narcissists is real. Just literally saw a post on a mental health app saying that all narcissists should be lobotomized.
Yeah. Okay. This is. I have no words. I am just angry. Even if you disagree or can separate narcissism from NPD, these are still the people you are siding with that your ignorance and demonization of NPD and narcissists will fuel. It starts with dehumanization and vilifying us. It has happened to other neurodivergencies and still does, but is less acceptable for them.
You have to fucking support narcissists and people with personality disorders. It's most prevalent with narcissists and sociopaths/psychopaths (aspd) now, but it has been used against every neurodivergent and mentally ill person before at some point in time. You cannot have mental health advocacy without US!!! It may be more normalized and acceptable with the stuff of narcissistic abuse being prevalent, but this is literally so harmful. Saying mentally ill people should be lobotomized is so fucked up. I'm shaking with rage. It doesn't matter if there are "bad" narcissists, they do not deserve to be fucking lobotomized. Calling for a fucking lobotomy to a huge group of people because of a stereotype of being naturally abusive is so fucking harmful. Even if someone with NPD was abusive (which does happen), calling for a lobotomy for them is so so so fucked up!!! Lobotomies aren't even that far in the past from when they were normalized and used as a method for dealing with mental illness!!! How the fuck can you ever fucking say that?!
If you support any mental illness or disorder or neurodivergency, you have to support ALL OF US. That includes even if the person with a disorder is abusive. They should be able to get help and not treated like some lesser being that deserves to be fucking lobotomized!!! And uncomfortable thing, but abusive people CAN and HAVE changed. Abusive people are all not one monolith of cruelty and hatred and evilness.
I just am so furious after seeing that on a fucking mental health app of all places. How fucking disgusting!!! To say a whole group of thousands of people of all kinds should be lobotomized for disorders we don't fucking ask to have is so fucking gross and ableist. The complete vitriolic hatred that people who hate narcissists have for complete strangers and the violence I've seen them spout because they may or may not have been abused by a narcissist is disgusting.

I hate this "delulu" shit with a burning passion. Stop watering down our terms. They don't JUST mean "I have a belief that's not true" they're spurred on by psychosis DELUSION IS A MEDICAL TERM STOP USING IT AS SLANG
I was in a server and this guy said their character was delusional and I raised an eyebrow because it just seemed like an obsessive fan character, and then they called that character "delulu" only for me to say "hey that's not really okay" and then they justified it and didn't listen to me AT ALL when I tried to explain why. And then painted ME as the bad guy.
They just said "its a joke about parasocial relationships" and uh. Parasocial relationships?? Arent?? Delusions??? (Not inherently anyway) (everyone involved is also at least 20 so this wasn't some kid doing this)
Every day I want to leave that server more and more I fucking hate the splatoon community I genuinely hate it.
