One Day One Shot

CiBoys was a designer toy line that featured little rabbits (or some other small animal, but I say it's a rabbit) wearing costumes. From urban fashion, to Bruce Lee characters, to classic Super Robots and more.

Here, they're dressed as Gundam characters.

And because they're costumes, the soft vinyl hats -- or, in this case, helmets -- can be removed to reveal their faces.

And they had little bunny butt holes (for lack of a better word) incorporated into their designs. Fun fact: this post was restricted on Instagram because I wrote "butt holes" - because the modern internet is a slow drip of mental torture.

Anyway, here we have a cute little bunny, dressed as a cute little robot, based on the mobile suits most famous for ending the lives of a staggering amount of main characters in one of the most tragic chapters of a series about the horrors of war. And his little booty is out.

So obviously it's one of my favorite toys.

BFFs Best Friends Forever Series 1

One of Kidrobot's earlier series (of wide release figures) that wasn't Dunny or Munny. Back in 2009, these felt like somewhat simple figures from the designer toy darlings.

Now, I would love to see more lines like this - toys that aren't based on IP or licensed brands. And Travis Cain's artistic style is one of those styles that really pops for designer toys.

Tiny and Steve were repainted a few times over the series. In particular, there's a clear red variant that I would love to track down someday.

This is another toy that I can remember exactly when and where I bought it. I was in Flushing, NY with my daughter in 2009. We went to the Flushing Mall (RIP to a great one) where we would go to get blind boxes from ToyQube - which eventually moved around the corner on Prince, even before the mall was knocked down.

It was a beautiful day out. We got bubble tea and mini taiyaki in the food court, and we walked around the arcade before venturing outside.

One of the reasons I love these designer toys so much was going out and getting them with my daughter when she was little.

And sometimes it's the memory - just as much as (or more than) the toy that makes it special.
