Zionism will never be viewed the same after the Gaza genocide
How do you wrap your head around genocide? As one numb week follows another, our leaders blind themselves to massacre and famine.
Joe Biden can see no “compelling alternative to how Israel [wages] a war in these circumstances without doing grievous harm to civilians,” Aaron David Miller writes in the New York Times, excusing the president’s support for genocide. So, Israel isn’t being deliberately cruel and sadistic. The Times coverage would just have you believe they just have no choice– as Donald Johnson wrote in a letter to the paper. “There is no middle ground between what Israel is doing and Gandhian pacifism: They just had to use 2000 lb bombs in urban settings. They have to torture captives and cut off food.”
Miller and other liberal Zionists have adopted that stance, but they are having little influence on Democrats. Polls show that the American people favor giving humanitarian aid to Gaza in far greater numbers than they do giving military aid to Israel, and the progressive base of the Democratic Party has started a political “firestorm” over U.S. support for genocide. The Zionist group J Street postponed its 2024 conference, surely because its own rank and file are enraged by Israel.
James Carville said on MSNBC this week that if Biden loses, it’s Israel’s fault, because the catastrophe in Gaza is an issue “all across the country.”
“This Gaza stuff, this is not just a problem with some snot-nosed Ivy League people…This is a problem all across the country. And I hope the president and Blinken can get this thing calmed down because if it doesn’t get calmed down before the Democratic convention, it’s going to be a very ugly time in Chicago. I promise you that. No matter what happens, I know it’s a huge problem.”
Last week, Brad Sherman, the Israel-loving Congress member from Los Angeles, fought back, accusing “anti-Israel forces” of an “attempt to penetrate and muddy our national discourse.”
Tumblr media
Protesters affiliated with the antiwar group Code Pink seek to ask Rep. Brad Sherman about his support for the massacres of Palestinians in Gaza, in a video posted March 20, 2024. The congressman from Los Angeles/Malibu ran away from the protesters and accused them of seeking the genocide of Jews. Screenshot.
Sherman accused them of antisemitism. “There’s blood on your hands for the genocide—you’re trying to kill every Jew.”
That is the chief refuge for Democrats who excuse Israel’s actions. To say that critics of genocide are motivated by antisemitism.
But even liberal media are giving a platform to progressive critics. “The United States is complicit in genocide,” Mehdi Hasan said this week on New York public radio, and when the host pushed back and said Hasan was not blaming Hamas, Hasan said of course he denounces Hamas, but his tax dollars are not going to support Hamas. He also pointed out the inevitable consequences of military occupation. “The oppressed will always rise against the oppressor.”
And in wonderful media news this week, Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg withdrew from a speaking engagement in Kentucky after students questioned his record in the Israeli military nearly 40 years ago.
Jeffrey Goldberg, Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantic, withdrew from a scheduled speaking event at the University of Kentucky (UK) Wednesday, citing a last-minute schedule change, amidst concerns from students about his past as a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) prison guard and his views on Zionism…. “We were informed that students expressed concern as to why a former IDF prison guard would be speaking on democracy and journalism at an event celebrating the integration of UK. Students were told he withdrew to not cause harm on campus,” the representative [of a Palestinian solidarity group] stated.
The event was billed as “The Future of Journalism and the Health of Our Democracy.” That’s a little bit of accountability. The editor of the Atlantic is finally being called out for his service for Israel. The writer Yakov Hirsch repeatedly explained on our site that Netanyahu could not have maintained his faultless reputation in the U.S. mainstream without Goldberg fostering “hasbara culture.”
And bear in mind, that Goldberg used to brag about his military service. He wrote a whole memoir about it. Now, times are changing. And other editors who carried water for Israel will surely be called on to defend that work.
This process is just beginning. Zionists still have esteem in the U.S. discourse. The view that Israel supporters promote bigotry against Palestinians is still off-limits. Even as mainstream Jewish organizations assert that those who support Palestinian rights are bigoted against Jews.
“Israel supporters should be seen as on the same moral level as supporters of Bull Connor, but in the U.S. and Western mainstream you can only point to antisemitism— you can never point to anti-Palestinian racism on the Israel side,” Donald Johnson has written on our site.
“We cannot make progress on this issue if the extreme racism of the pro-genocide side is never discussed. People have to be able to say that any group, whether white southerners or South Africans or Nation of Islam members or Christian evangelical Zionists or Germans or, yes, Jewish supporters of Israel, can be racists. They can make racism central to their ideology. But Zionist racism is still a taboo subject, automatically branded as antisemitic, because fundamentally Palestinians are seen as lesser.”

Do we think Donald Glover's Prowler is important? He says "hey" to Miles and then Hobie says "I caught that one myself." And I feel like Hobie is up to Something.
Especially considering that Hobie Brown is the original "Prowler" in the comics. Aaron and Miles 42 are his variants. And Prowler is often a thief/criminal but he's not usually "trying to end the world" level bad guy. In the first movie he's working for Kingpin but who hasn't had an evil boss? He still loves his nephew.
What'd he do to end up in one of Miguel's cages? I'm guessing he's a plant.
ETA: He actually says "it's rude to stare" to Miles, but "hey" is a summary. /shoulder touch

An altar honoring Aaron’s life, at a vigil his friends held in remembrance of him on February 27.
As Aaron recounted to his comrades in a mutual aid group in San Antonio, he grew up in a very Christian conservative white enclave in Cape Cod. He was 18 years old when Donald Trump was elected; he joined the Air Force in 2019. While in the Air Force, he arrived at anarchist politics through a process of self-education.
In February 2023, Aaron prepared a document aimed at helping this group to become more cohesive. As another participant in the group told us, “Aaron sought to formalize and mature some of our organizing methods, and he felt that having deep and open discussion was a crucial first step for building long-term trust. He created a list of questions as a way for our ragtag group of lefties doing mutual aid to start a conversation with each other.”
In his own answers to these questions, Aaron states:
I am an anarchist, which means I believe in the abolition of all hierarchical power structures, especially capitalism and the state… I view the work we do as fighting back in the class war which the capitalist class wages on the rest of humanity. This also informs the way in which I want to organize, as I believe that any hierarchical power structure is bound to reproduce class dynamics and oppression. Thus, I want to engage in egalitarian forms of organizing that produce horizontal power structures based on mutual aid and solidarity, which are capable of liberating humans… I favor consensus-based decision-making over “democratic” or voting-based governance.
In the same document, Aaron explained why he was committed to doing mutual aid work in solidarity with the unhoused:
I’ve always been bothered by the reality of homelessness, even back when I was growing up in a conservative community. I have come to believe in the importance of solidarity politics and I view the enforcement of homelessness as a major front in the class war which must be challenged for all our sakes. I view helping my houseless neighbors as a moral obligation, a matter of social justice, and a matter of good politics. If I don’t stand with those more marginalized than me today then who will be left to stand with me tomorrow. I view enforced homelessness as a societal failing and a crime against humanity. I believe that no one deserves to be deprived of basic human necessities. I believe that homelessness as an involuntary condition must be abolished.
In the following three accounts, Aaron’s friends share their memories of who he was and how his life touched their lives.
Aaron and friends watching a solar eclipse.
“Aaron Will Live Forever”
Lupe
Aaron will live forever. I know this, because everyone who was loved by Aaron will carry a bit of him in their soul, and everyone who witnessed his sacrifice will carry him in their minds. Aaron cherished life. He knew that in giving up his own, he could give the people of Palestine a chance to keep theirs. Aaron has permanently changed the fabric of your being. You know this because for the rest of your life, you will wrestle with the thought of what you will sacrifice for the liberation of others.
Aaron Bushnell.
“He Was Someone We Really Needed”
T Bear
It seems a lot of people just saw Aaron as someone in the military. Online lefties and liberal media alike were quick to dispose of his words and actions, and choose instead to judge him based on puritanical ideals just as bad as the ones he’s been trying to escape his entire adult life.
I write this knowing it will be read by comrades. I want to say something profound that can make us reflect on why we have such a tendency to be so quick to treat others as disposable, but I don’t think I can. I hope that instead, you will carry the burden of finding an answer to that with me.
After a lifetime of engaging with anarchists, it was this recently radicalized, 25-year-old active-duty airman I spent two years with who showed me my chains—long before his decision to leave this earth. Aaron had this effect on every single person he met. He was incredibly committed to developing relationships based on deep trust and understanding—and would be the first to give you the raised brows for a snarky answer to an important question. He never let a potential harm go unaddressed. He embodied more than anyone I know the anarchist spirit, “that deeply human sentiment, which aims at the good of all, freedom and justice for all, solidarity and love among the people.”1
An altar honoring Aaron’s life, at a vigil his friends held in remembrance of him on February 27.
“My Friend Aaron”
E
My friend Aaron was kind, compassionate, and principled, sometimes to the point of being annoying, and he was incredibly reflective and willing to change to meet my needs in our relationship. He was one of my quickest and best friends.
An altar honoring Aaron’s life at the vigil at which Aaron’s friend read this text aloud.
Cult
I want to provide some background context on Aaron’s life. He shared this with me in confidence, but I feel OK sharing it with you all now because he is gone and I want to help contextualize him for you all. The press has also reached out to people from his past so it will be coming out regardless and I think it’s better y’all learn from a comrade.
Being raised in a cult, essentially a small society with different cultural norms than ours, gave Aaron the ability to see and better identify the norms and qualities of our society that are harder for us to see because we have been conditioned within it. He could see the latent fascist logic and cult-like tendencies that we swim through every day. He could see and feel them in ways that I struggle to feel and understand beyond an intellectual level. He was always very cagey about his past and did his best not to lie. You may recall him saying things like “sort of” or “something like that” whenever he was asked questions about being in theatre or band.
Times He Changed and Reflected
We would text and I would accuse him of texting like a straight man (which he was). He would never use reaction emojis or punctuation or expressions of laughter like lol. It was incredibly annoying. And he made such an active effort to do those things after I asked him to, very quickly and consistently.
Aaron with his beloved cat, Sugar.
Principled
Aaron saw hierarchy and injustice and his role in those systems and hated it. He felt a lot of guilt because of the situation he was raised in; guilt was the primary emotion through which he engaged with most things. I feel very sad that he was not able to heal from that fully before this.
He had so much love for his cats. The contradictions of owning someone you love weighed on him heavily. He was constantly thinking of how to best accommodate them and navigate this relationship of domination, complete control of their agency. I saw how it genuinely distressed him.
Aaron refused to say words like crazy, insane, or lame due to their roots in ableism and he got on me for my use of the word lame constantly. He wouldn’t say the word fuck because he saw its roots in misogyny and hetero-patriarchy.
Aaron also didn’t like the word democracy for reasons that are too long to explain; we would argue about it a lot, it was kind of a recurring bit.
Aaron serving food in Ohio as part of the mutual aid organization Serve the People Akron. “Aaron was a valued member of our organization and the community who immediately jumped in to help the unhoused and any project that came up. He was dependable and persistent with the mutual aid work he did in a city that was still new to him. We will be forever grateful for the effort he put in to make Akron a better place.”
Excerpts
I was very vulnerable and open with Aaron and I am proud of that. Vulnerability builds trust and deepens our bonds with each other; it is something that I actively work to cultivate in myself. To that end, I would like to share excerpts from two things I wrote to Aaron.
All of our relationships change us, shape us. When I look at the people, the friends, who I love the most, the people who I have the most secure loving relationships with, I can mark the ways that they have changed me. The mannerisms, habits, forms of speech, or worldviews that I adopted from them. It makes me feel so proud and thankful. There is no doubt that you have already changed me in ways that I will be proud of and thankful for, but I feel that one of the things that hurts most is mourning the loss of the ways that you could change me… I wish I could know you more. There are so many other things I want to know about you and so many other things I want you to know about me. I wish I could get to see firsthand your continuing political development and I wish we could have closer impacts on each other’s development. I wish you could see mine, to change it and make me into a better revolutionary. I want to see you in struggle, to learn how to struggle next to you and to struggle with you. I want you to be here.
I keep imagining you here. Upon reflecting I am imagining you here but not as I know you, I am imagining you here and free. Free of your military indenturement. It brings me so much joy to imagine you free and in struggle, to imagine your joy.
Conclusion
I think it will be hard to grieve this loss without being able to be with his body. To not get to experience the physical and psychological effects of being with his body after he is gone.
I am feeling tiny and crushed by the magnitude and inertia of the systems we are fighting against. I feel tiny and helpless in the face of these systems that have existed for hundreds of years and will likely exist for hundreds more. I normally feel quite the opposite but right now I feel so small. How in this world do we find peace that is not complicity? I hope Aaron found his.
Aaron and his friends.
I want to end with two things, some words from Aaron’s will and a poem that he had been practicing to recite once he was out of the military.
From Aaron’s will:
“I am sorry to my brother and my friends for leaving you like this. Of course, if I was truly sorry, I wouldn’t be doing it. But the machine demands blood. None of this is fair.”
“I wish for my remains to be cremated. I do not wish for my ashes to be scattered or my remains to be buried as my body does not belong anywhere in this world. If a time comes when Palestinians regain control of their land, and if the people native to the land would be open to the possibility, I would love for my ashes to be scattered in a free Palestine.”

5 Non-MCU Characters I'd love to see in Deadpool & Wolverine
Tumblr media
Superbowl Sunday saw the return of everyones favorite Merc with a Mouth Deadpool in the trailer for his upcoming new movie Deadpool & Wolverine.
And as usual, Marvel hooked me.
Some fans have seen it as a return to form for the MCU, others as business as usual for Ryan Reynolds, and some just couldn't get over the little bit of Wolverine we got.
Tumblr media
Myself, I was mainly focused on one thing. Aaron Stanford.
Tumblr media
For those not in the know, this clip from the trailer shows Aaron Stanford returning as minor villain and asshole Pyro from the original X-Men Films. He was a sidekick to Magneto, and has a rivalry with Iceman in those movies.
Tumblr media
The return of Pyro from the X-Men films confirms what most fans expected: we will see old heroes and villains from the Fox era, not just Wolverine.
And while a few have been already revealed through casting news or set photos, there are plenty more in store for us, I'm sure.
This got my head gears turning, so I decided I'd look back on the old Fox films to see who I want to return, even for the briefest moment or cameo.
None of these have been confirmed officially, so you are spoiler free from here on out. But I must warn, once I put this ideas in your head, you may be mad if they don't show up.
5. Animated Deadpool Voiced by Donald Glover
Tumblr media
*sigh* The project I wish existed.
In 2017, Donald Glover was in development and given the green light on an animated Deadpool show. The show was to premiere on FX in 2018. However, for unknown reasons it was cancelled, and never debuted, leaving fans and Donald Glover displeased.
Tumblr media
After the success of films like Spider-Verse, and Glovers involvement with Marvel, having him come in for a scene where he fights with or against Ryan Reynolds Deadpool could be a fun nod to the fans and maybe give the project the boost it needs to somehow come back.
But alas, I'm still hoping Spider-Verse will bring back Spectacular Spider-Man, so what do I know?
Tumblr media
4. X-23
Tumblr media
If there is a character ripe for a spin-off from the old X-Men universe, it was definitely X-23.
It's surprising to me she hasn't been revealed as a main member of the cast. She's a character I think few people talk about anymore, but was a crucial part of the film. I'd say Logan is up there and one of the best superhero movies.
Dafne Keen and Hugh Jackman made Logan such an impactful moving film. I'd love to see where the character has gone since Logan, and see how them reuniting effects the film.
Tumblr media
Not to mention if she fought Deadpool, it would be one hell of a good (and kind of funny ) fight.
3. Apocalypse
Tumblr media
Do I like this character? Absolutely not.
Do I want him here just for the Moon Knight jokes? Yes.
I actually think theres a good Apocalypse in Oscar Isaac somewhere. Having Deadpool and Wolverine at one point face the X-Men's Thanos sounds pretty cool, and Isaac is a great comedic and dramatic performer who deserves another shot.
I wouldn't mind a CGI version that looks more comic accurate, like Beast in the Marvels.
Tumblr media
But again. I really just want Deadpool to say "So are you Steven or Marc?"
2. The Human Torch
Tumblr media
Similarly, I want the Captain America jokes.
But if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that Human Torch was by far the best part of those Fantastic Four movies.
There's just so many things you can do with it!
We can have him in the frosted tips, in a new Fantastic Four uniform. Maybe even have him fight Pyro, stop a fire guy with a fire guy. Or have him come out from behind a train like Captain America in Infinity War, but it's Johnny.
Tumblr media
Having Evans play across Reynolds even for a bit would make so many fans happy and get more cheers then No Way Home.
Besides Evans has done a cameo in a Shawn Levy film starring Ryan Reynolds once. He can do it again.
Tumblr media
1. Legion
Tumblr media
The rumored main villain of this film tends to have a very particular vendetta with Charles Xavier. So why not use his son to acquire power?
Legion is the acclaimed show from Noah Hawley starring Dan Stevens as David Haller, a mutant with schizophrenia and basically unlimited power.
Tumblr media
Dan Stevens is incredible in this show, and I think bringing in such a powerful X-Men character would make for some fun interactions and extreme stakes. Not to mention the insane visuals, all while delving deep into the psyche of both are protagonists.
While I doubt all of these characters show up, if one or two do, I'd be extremely happy. We'll just have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: Who do you want to see in Deadpool and Wolverine?

Never posted before but I’m still reeling over Frank v Russia like I’m sure many of you are. What’s the consensus on if Mac knew Dennis was Johnny or not? I think he did actually know, based on 2 reasons. First reason, in Frank vs Russia when Charlie is asking Dennis for help, when he learns he can control Frank, he specially says “.. and Frank’s been aware of the puppetry the entire time?” Only then does he decide he wants to help. The 2nd piece of evidence is that in celebrity booze, Mac smirks at getting Dennis all riled up. This to me seems like a very obvious indicator that Mac is purposely getting Dennis worked up, and is enjoying pushing the right buttons to piss off Dennis.
Back to the first piece of evidence. Let’s just say all this is true and Mac did actually know Johnny was Dennis. Does Dennis know that Mac knows? Does Mac know that Dennis knows that he knows?? Maybe this is Dennis’s twisted way of trying to get closer to Mac because he doesn’t have a good grip on what love is or how to properly express it? Maybe he wanted Mac to secretly know and play along with it. Either way I’m so freaking happy. The implications!!!!!!!
I didn’t feel sure that Mac knew that Dennis was trying to catfish him because I think it’s just as believable that he is denying what happened because he’s hurt or doesn’t want to believe it was Dennis and not some beautiful mystery man who was going to sweep him off his feet, which we have seen Mac do multiple times in the series (deny deny deny) (also recently with Uncle Donald as we all know) But after watching him smirk at Dennis’s rising anger makes me really think he’s been messing with him purposely, which is the strongest piece of evidence that he did know what Dennis was doing and is choosing to pretend like he doesn’t to get a reaction out of Dennis.
No matter if he knew or not, that smirk was really interesting because it tells us that he’s messing with Dennis and enjoying getting him angry and we don’t know how long this has been going on. I don’t know about you all, but this season feels different with them. I feel strongly that something is going on between them. It might be a reach but I kinda have a feeling they either have slept together recently or really want to and are playing games with each other instead of just doing it.
In a wonderfully done post analyzing Bryan’s speech at the end of booze, it’s mentioned that Bryan knows about the power balance in his relationship with Aaron, and makes it known that he could change it if he wanted to easily. But he doesn’t because he isn’t interested in changing the dynamic entirely. Is that what is happening with Mac and Dennis? If it’s a true parallel, I can see Mac’s plan being this: He knows Johnny is Dennis. He knew that Dennis would eventually spill the beans after he thought that Mac had fallen into his trap successfully. He knows when he acts “dumb” or annoying it really pisses off Dennis so that is exactly how he acted. He constantly pestered him about Johnny and then acted like he didn’t understand when Dennis finally came clean. So Dennis is going to get all worked up and he will start to wonder why he cares so much that Mac isn’t understanding or believing him. Hence the “… places your head so far out in front of you that you don’t even realize that your neck is exposed” Dennis is going to end up being the one who is all worked up, not Mac. Mac has been in control this entire time. This could be a wake up call for Dennis to see that he doesn’t have a hold over Mac like he thinks he does. I don’t see Mac actually wanting to leave Dennis, but I’m sure he would like to feel more appreciated, and I think that is the true parallel from booze. What do you all think?
Sorry if this was super long but I would love to hear other peoples opinions! Can’t wait for the bowling ep tonight! Hopefully we will get a better feel for the situation before dtamhd.

SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️(Basically just me overanalyzing my favorite joke in the movie because I thought the forshadowing was really cool)
NO OKAY BECAUSE THE COOLEST THING ABOUT THE MOVIE??? The way they set up meeting prowler miles Perfectly.
OKAY OKAY SO the big issue they had to solve while writing is making sure the audience remembers who the prowler even is. It’s been a While since the last movie. So they touch on it briefly during the beginning when talking about Miles’ backstory. But a quick “uncle Aaron died and he was a bad guy but I miss him” isn’t going to Stick with the viewers. Or at least not all of them?? Like I feel like if they’d left it at that there would be some sleight confusion during the Big Reveal scene for some people who aren’t as familiar with Spider-Man stuff?
SO THEY PULL A GAG they do a funny because funnies STICK you don’t forget funnies.
like okay does anyone remember the scene where miles is walking through the room with all the anomalies and we see live action Prowler (Donald Glover) just Chilling? Yeah? SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE!!!!! BECAUSE THE FUNNIES STICK!!!!!
Literally by putting this joke in and then having miles go “uncle Aaron??1?1?!” Was SO intentional it IMMEDIATELY connects the two in a way that the small flashback just Couldn’t. AND ON TOP OF THAT by connecting his uncle to the prowler they ERASE any idea of the prowler being literally anyone else. Prowler = Uncle Aaron. That’s just how it is in Every Universe apparently. BUT ITS NOT HOW COOL IS THAT?1? Man I love Good writing that throws viewers off by using gags and jokes. The cleverest of concepts. Gee Whiz. (I’m not normal)

I know I'm late (hopefully not too late) but pls for the ship ask game? Also I saw your wips and got curious about some ❤️ Micah/trevon, Steph/Klay, Travis/pat and Dak/Zeke? I probably asked for a lot sorry hshdhshs
Never late!! Thank you for sending in an ask, I like reading them :> and dw abt asking abt too many bc answering is cool (I should probably be the one apologizing for finishing this response late 😭) For Micah and Trevon @ceedeelamb posted a lot abt them and I was like "okay hm i see the vision." Like Trevon is pretty and at the cost of sounding shallow he should be shipped with someone if the world has any justice. We all know Stefon is pretty but let’s give his brother some love ok. Bc he too is a gorgeous gorgeous girl who is also prone to bouts of manic behavior 🫶 And it seems like he and Micah have a good relationship (the part abt Micah saying he would pick up Trevon’s 2 am call kinda moved me I can’t lie). It’s cute, they talk shit to each other and play off each other well on the field. Seems like Micah is a little more obtuse and Trevon’s more perceptive and that works I think. If I had a nickel for every time I shipped two NFL players and something about 7-11 was involved in its conception I would have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice. Also Micah compared himself and Trevon to Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald... which I mean. Gay off. (rest in peace to that pairing btw i had a fic abt them) (never completed) (i do have a Trevon/Micah fic kinda sorta in the works) (it will probably be short but the vibes are decent)
Steph/Klay is one of those pairings where I don't read much fic but I ship it bc well. Who else would you ship yknow? They're so married it's insane 😭 like I probably got into the nba fandom too late to really be invested in the narrative but I can't imagine them with anyone else. Tbh I don’t read a lot of fic for them bc the dynamic isn’t something that draws me in but just know I support all of the Klephen shippers. I hope that they both stay with the Warriors for their entire careers 🫡
And then Travis/Pat is a valid ship. I support it in theory bc “quarterback + top pass catcher = decent ship.” I feel like I would like this ship more if Travis were younger, with all due respect (and also if the Chiefs didn't constantly beat my teams 😭), but like I still don’t mind it. I had an idea for like some vaguely melancholic short fic abt them with like a dash of yearning once but idk where I put that thought. Overall, good ship tho!
Dak/Zeke is great I hate they're divorced now 😔 there was a fic abt them that I liked but then it got deleted 💔 burning of Library of Alexandria moment. I really need to save more fics bc idk when they'll be saved. Anyways Dak is kinda mother to me so like. I miss their vibes together the nfl honors during their rookie year was kind of a goated vibe. And qb/rb relationships are underrated I feel, something abt a shared responsibility for two facets of the offense.

Just watched Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with my mom today at 6/12/23 at Philippine Independence Day and my aunt's birthday
It's better than the 1st one and I love the entire chase sequence/train fight scene and the ending twist. I knew it was Miles based on his height.
The animation, soundtrack, voice acting and writing were S-tier.
Margo, Pavitr and Hobie were awesome in this movie especially Hobie. Mayday was so kawaii. Maybe in the sequel, we might see Noir and Ben interact.
I love Donald Glover's cameo as Earth-19999 Aaron Davis/Prowler.

ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS!!!!
Everything (almost) I loved/noticed in the movie!!!
Under the Cut!
First things first, beginning the movie with Gwen's inner dialogue and the world she lives in. The use of colors and shapes to represent her emotions is freaking amazing. (I also peeped that Protect Trans Kids poster/flag in her room). She is so alt... I love her. Like, wow, I love her style.
Now, Imma make a list:
Spot's buildup. I saw it coming, but that's what I love about movies. Watching Spot slowly become more powerful made him into something to be feared. I started the movie thinking he was funny mini "bad guy" character, but now... now I'm afraid *nervous chuckle* OH AND THE VENOM REFERENCE??? YES YES YES
The small swear words "Maybe you should get off the kid's ass" "Parenting, a big ass mystery." I. LOVED. IT. It just adds that small bit of realism that I (as an almost adult) cherish. Reminds me of the Rise of the TMNT movie where Future Leo said badass. I EAT THAT UP EVERY TIME
HOBIE HOBIE HOBIE I can write an essay about how much I adore his character. To see a black guy wearing SPIKES and PIERCINGS and BEING AN ANARCHIST touches my soul. As a black person, I love the representation (even though he existed before this movie lololol). HIS ANIMATION TOO??? LIKE SO COOL???? Straight out of a comic book!!! The way he changed colors/styles fit him so well. OH OH OH AND HOBIE HELPING OUT MILES!! I'm so glad they didn't go with the whole "fighting over Gwen/jealousy" subplot. Hobie was a real one for helping Miles escape by telling him to use his palms.
Miguel O'hara is so hot????
*ahem* PETER B CONSTANTLY KISSING THE TOP OF MAYDAY'S HEAD AND GUSHING OVER HER THIS THIS THIS!!! I don't know if you've ever held a baby that you adored but the urge to kiss the top of their head while you hold them is EXTREMELY STRONG. So it's accurate. He loves Mayday so much and I just love that <3 Miles being the reason Peter wanted to have kids makes my heart ACHE in the greatest way possible
The Lobby and Miles' Great Escape Where do I even begin? First of all, the amount of spidermans and the references??? Oh my goodness. DONALD GLOVER AS THE PROWLER?! I saw a theory about Miles being in Tom Holland's spiderman (srry that's what I'm calling it) with Donald Glover as Uncle Aaron and uh???? HE WAS THERE!!! WILD!!! Ah! I can't forget about Miles realizing what was going to happen to his dad. Now, I love Miguel, but I was COMPLETELY ON MILES' SIDE. Gosh, the tension in that scene was SO thick! The animation in Miles' escape was fucking GORGEOUS! Along with the fighting sequences!! The facial expressions. EVERYTHING!!
Miles' Great Escape pt. 2 Miles swinging through "his" New York and practically reliving everything that was said and done to him... man. I could feel his overwhelming need to get home. He just needed to get home. When he got through his window, I could finally relax. HELL, I could've cried in relief. Just knowing that you were safe cuz you were home. Man, the surprise Miles and I were about to receive.
Miles and his Counterpart Now, at this point in the movie, I was so deep into the story that I didn't realize that the movie was almost over. I sat at the edge of my seat as I watched Miles beg himself to let him go so he could save their dad. "Now why would I do that?" Oh the betrayal. Watching Miles and Prowler! Miles stare into each other's eyes made me feel something I couldn't describe. When Miles summoned up his venom strike (I can't recall if that's the name), his face looked so resigned. He was prepared for a fight. A fight that we won't be able to see until the next movie.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???? tHAT CLIFFHANGER SHOULD'VE BEEN ILLEGAL!!! I literally sat up in my seat and said "You have to be kidding" BECAUSE THAT COULDN'T BE THE END UNTIL THE NEXT MOVIE!!!
Would you believe me if I said that this movie was better than the first? At least in my opinion. Not to say that the first movie was bad, but as sequels go, THIS ONE SURPASSED THE FIRST ONE'S GREATNESS SOMEHOW??? This trilogy is going to be fucking legendary.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I appreciate it!!

Reports about former President Donald Trump's legal team handing over to prosecutors a laptop belonging to one of his aides has spurred calls for Republicans to hold a new congressional hearing to look into the matter.
Representative Ted Lieu, a California Democrat, said that House Republicans should hold a hearing about the aide's laptop similar to the one they held this week, which focused on the suppression of a New York Post article that was published in 2020 about Hunter Biden's laptop.
"Since MAGA Republicans are obsessed about laptops, @HouseGOP should do a hearing on the Trump laptop that illegally stored classified information. Instead, House GOP did a stupid hearing on what Twitter said about a widely known NY Post story about Hunter Biden's laptop," Lieu tweeted on Friday.
Trump's legal team in December and January turned over the laptop, along with more documents with classified markings, CNN reported on Friday. The documents included an empty folder with the label, "Classified Evening Briefing."
Tumblr media
Pages with classified markings were found by Trump's lawyers at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida and were turned over to the Department of Justice (DOJ). Trump's unnamed aide, who works for Save America PAC, reportedly made a copy of those same pages and added them to a thumb drive and laptop without realizing they were classified.
"Since House Republicans love to hold hearings over laptops, they should immediately hold a hearing discussing the #TrumpLaptop," said Democratic activist and lawyer Aaron Parnas.
Tumblr media
"Trump laptop?????? Dear @Jim_Jordan , Will there be a hearing on the trump laptop?" asked Christopher Gibbs, chair of the nonprofit, Rural Voices USA.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, social media personality Brian Krassenstein tweeted: "'Accuse your opponent of what you are guilty of...' For the last 3 years we have been hearing about Hunter Biden's 'laptop from hell'. The real laptop from hell could be the #TrumpLaptop in which classified documents were copied onto and found at Mar-a-lago. THAT IS A CRIME!"
Tumblr media
"Trump attorney James Trusty informed agents that top secret documents had been electronically copied to a laptop of a current Trump aide. Donald is a clear and present danger to our national security," wrote Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney.
Tumblr media
A GOP-led House committee held a hearing on Wednesday over Twitter's decision to temporarily block the Hunter Biden laptop story. The social media company temporarily prevented users from sharing the New York Post's article in October 2020, fearing that the story about the laptop's contents was the result of an illegal hacking. The newspaper reported that the laptop allegedly contained information about Hunter Biden's finances and ties to foreign companies.
During the hearing, Representative Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, said that the former Twitter employees were "played" by the FBI, adding that the company's executives searched for reasons to remove the article.
The hearing was part of an ongoing effort to investigate the alleged "weaponization" of federal agencies under the Biden administration.
The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which is chaired by Jordan, was launched after a 221-211 House vote in January. The subcommittee aims to look into a number of subjects, including the DOJ's investigations against Trump and whether or not the FBI tried to censor conservative voices. Newsweek reached out to Trump's media office and Jordan's media representatives for comment.

Aaron Donald and Jaylen Brown Cut Ties with Donda Sports Amidst Kanye West Antisemitism Scandal
Tumblr media
Your antisemitic tirades are so bad that even companies with Nazi histories are cutting ties with Kanye West.
He lost countless deals, many of his remaining fans, and all of this has cost him his billionaire status.
And though malefactors and grifters have encouraged him along the way, Kanye has no one to blame but himself.
Tumblr media
On Tuesday, October 25, both NFL star Aaron Donald and NBA player Jaylen Brown took to social media to make an announcement.
Both athletes have broken ties with Kanye West’s Donda Sports agency. Brown had been the first to sign with the agency.
Tumblr media
Aaron Donald and his wife, Erica, issued a joint statement.
“The recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism,” they cited, referring to Kanye’s bigoted remarks.
Tumblr media
“We find them to be irresponsible and go against everything we believe in as a family,” they affirmed.
“As parents and members of society, we felt a responsibility to send a clear message,” they wrote.
Tumblr media
“We do not feel our beliefs, voices and actions belong anywhere near a space,” they wrote.
They refer to a space “that misrepresents and oppresses people of any background, ethnicity, or race.”
Tumblr media
“And,” the couple’s joint statement expressed, “hope to continue to use our platform to uplift and support other families, children, and communities.”
From here on out, they hope to do so “through positive outreach.”
Tumblr media
Initially, Brown had said that he does not “condone” West’s bigoted tirade, but didn’t plan to leave Donda Sports.
“In the past 24 hours, I’ve been able to reflect and better understand,” he began on Twitter.
Tumblr media
“For that, I apologize,” he wrote. “And in this, I seek to be as clear as possible.”
Brown affirmed: “I have always, and will always, continue to stand strongly against any antisemitism.”
Tumblr media
“In light of that, after sharing in conversations,” Brown explained.
“I now recognize that there are times when my voice and my position can’t coexist in spaces that don’t correspond with my stance or my values,” he acknowledged.
Tumblr media
“I do seek to continue providing mentorship, love, and support to the incredible children, faculty, and young athletes,” Brown wrote.
These are people “with whom I’ve been grateful to form bonds and relationships with during my time with Donda Academy.”
But Kanye has made his brand toxic. In choosing bigotry, he has made himself untouchable. Except, of course, by the grifters who egged him on to begin with.

The Morning Briefing: Pro-Hamas Lunatics Are Louder, Dumber, and More Unstable Than Ever
Tumblr media
Happy Tuesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Pandryck preferred a Limoncello shaved ice immediately after a satisfying session of shower polo.
There is a popular story these days that is told by Democrats, commie academics, and the barking evil that is the American mainstream media. In this story, Donald Trump and his political supporters are the root of all the divisiveness in the United States of America. Tales are told of an angry populism that's a powder keg that is just waiting to explode into an epidemic of rampant domestic terrorism.
Yeah, not so much.
The reality is that every dark, dangerous thing that has erupted in recent years in this country has come from the Left.
The Obama years emboldened American leftists; the Biden years have weaponized them. It's understandable. After they succeeded in leg-humping the pandemic and using it to install a senile puppet in the Oval Office, they probably thought they were invincible.
The Biden regime-supported crazy has really been unleashed since the Hamas attacks on Israel last October. The hatred for Israel and anti-Semitism that leftists have been harboring for years have been on full, loud display.
A couple of stories this week indicate that it's all going to get worse before it gets better.
The first is the most disturbing, which Grayson Bakich wrote about:
The Israel-Hamas war has proven to be one of the most polarizing issues in the country, as leftists have staged massive protests in support of Palestine and by extension Hamas. But evidently, this member of the Air Force felt so passionate about it that he set himself on fire in protest outside the Israeli embassy in Washington. TMZ reported that the currently unidentified man appeared in front of the embassy in uniform and supposedly said he would "no longer be complicit in genocide" before he impersonated Thich Quang Duc. Task and Purpose added he shouted "Free Palestine" multiple times throughout his little stunt before authorities extinguished him and hauled him off to the hospital, where he is being treated for "critical life-threatening injuries."
That was written before all of the facts were in. The young man's name was Aaron Bushnell and would soon die from his injuries.
We don't know what else may have been going on in Bushnell's life. He was obviously very troubled, but we have no idea how long that's been the case. Since Bushnell's death has given him leftist folk hero martyr status, we aren't going to know anytime soon.
Whatever may have been troubling Bushnell, it's clear that it was exacerbated by the ignorant pro-Hamas crowd that doesn't understand what genocide is. His inner demons pushed him over the edge, but it's a safe bet that they were given an assist by a leftist rage mob that never shuts up.
While disparaging people on the other side may be a big part of my brand, my keyboard isn't merely spewing hyperbole. Most of my caustic comments are descriptive and accurate. When I refer to someone as a "commie," a little digging into that person will find some commie in there.
It's easy to be dismissive of one's political opponents by calling them crazy, but I'm not off base when referring to the pro-Hamas crowd as mentally unstable, especially after one of them lit himself on fire to make a point.
Sadly, they have more vocal cords than brains. Michael wrote yesterday about a mini mob of them screaming "Genocide supporter!" at Jerry Seinfeld.
These toxic weirdos love publicly harassing people they don't agree with. Democratic politicians have been encouraging the behavior for years. While anti-Semitism does course through the Democratic party, a lot of the older Dems are supporters of Israel. Many of them are now getting a taste of the unhinged behavior that they overlooked when it was only being directed at the Right.
The pro-Hamas crowd has gotten this far by simply being louder than everyone else. They stick to areas and situations where they know they can screech and bother people with impunity, like college campuses or big, blue cities. Places like that have been excusing aberrant and violent behavior for so long that there's no need to start pretending to care now. The pro-Hamas mobs know that.
It's fair to blame this on Academia, at least somewhat. The first wave of protesters last fall were college kids. Their ignorance had been reinforced by the professors they respect. That excuse has a shelf life though. The mob mentality encourages them to remain ignorant.
Rage, ignorance, and indifferent law enforcement are going to get more people hurt or killed.
The worse it gets, the more the terrorists win. And they don't even have to be here.
