I already did something a bit like this for Jesper, I didn’t think we’d have to be back here again but here we go:
NINA ZENIK IS NOT JUST COMEDIC RELIEF.
Spoilers for the whole series ahead, also warning for discussing Nina’s trauma (and a bit of Matthias’ as well but not in much detail)
Nina has no recollection of what her life looked like before she taken from her home at about 3 and raised in the military of an abusive government to become a child soldier under a compulsory draft for all Grisha in Ravka. When she was around fourteen Nina and a group of other children also being raised to be child soldiers were abducted by the Darkling and held captive at Keramzin, where we know little of what they underwent. This abusive government had so greatly manipulated Nina that by the time she was rescued and the compulsory draft against her people was lifted, her patriotism had become so intense that she begged (remember she was still a child at this time) to be sent on military missions where she would convince other Grisha to join the army. And on one of these missions, when Nina was sixteen, she was taken captive by Drüskelle; by an order of Witch-hunters purposefully constructed for the destruction of her people. And so terrified of implicating and endangering her compatriots she was, Nina did not cry for help.
Nina was held in a cage beneath the deck of a ship with several other Grisha, presumably for a minimum of two weeks, and treated like an animal. During those two weeks the Grisha on the ship were rarely fed, were rarely given access to clean water (Nina begging Matthias to bring them water ends up being what saved her life), were given nowhere to relieve themselves, underwent theats, violence, and dehumanisation, and travelled that entire time with the knowledge that when they reached their destination they would be put on trial and sentenced to death. Almost upon their arrival to Fjerda, the ship feel victim to a massive storm. If it weren’t for the jagged edge of the cup Matthias had given her that Nina used to cut through her bonds, she would have drowned to death in a cage. As it was, she was one of two survivors from the entire vessel and her singular companion was a Drüskelle. Nina and Matthias had to rely on each other, on someone part of the very thing they each identified as their abuser, not only to swim to shore, but to survive for weeks on end afterwards as they travelled across the ice. And in that time, Nina was able to find something in Matthias that she thought was impossible.
Matthias was like her. Matthias had gone through something so similar, and yet so horrifyingly different to her, and where Nina had come to hate and fear his people out of necessity he had come to hate and fear hers through the death of his family followed by years of manipulation and abuse at the hands of his government as it raised him to become a child soldier. And Nina and Matthias were able to look at each other, at 16 and 17 in the most horrendous hellish experience they could have fathomed, and learn who each other truly were. And they knew it would be harder for Matthias, they knew the things he had done - even though he admitted to himself he had never wanted to do them - were going to be so much harder to accept and to unlearn and to move away from. But they had a chance.
And then Nina, believing she had no other options left when Grisha were threatening to kill Matthias, betrayed him - and in doing so, she knew full well, was forced to betray herself. She fought for his freedom for a year, staying in Kerch when she could have just gone home, endangering her life and getting herself in debt to a gang leader in her attempts to save him, knowing all the while that Matthias would not forgive her and would, she now believed, never have the chance to undo all the hatred that had been forged upon him and learn to be the boy he could have been without the abuse of Jarl Brum. And when she finally managed to help him escape, the first thing he did was try to choke her to death.
Nina, now 17, travelled back not just to the country she was to be killed in and that she was shipwrecked and stranded in, but to the very place where her death sentence would have been held: The Ice Court. She was part of the crew that broke in and out of the most fortified prison in the world, and whilst she was there she learnt the Drüskelle leader, who had killed hundreds of her people and abused Matthias for years on end, whom she believed had drowned on the shipwreck a year ago was not only still alive but had also begun to experiment on her people with an impossibly addictive and life-endangering drug to use them as slaves in his army - in his words “these creatures were made to be weapons”. Only minutes after learning this she believes Matthias has betrayed her and that she will be the next victim of the drug, only for him to attack Jarl Brum, save her life, and vow that he will do everything in his power to learn how to change, and that he will protect her for the rest of their lives.
But upon their escape of the Ice Court, Nina (still seventeen) realised that she and her friends were trapped by the Drüskelle and had no options left but to be taken captive and/or killed (I’m mostly putting the and/or there for Kuwei, I expect the others would’ve been killed where they stood). So Nina turned around and took the drug, unbelievably addictive and life-endangering after a single exposure, so that she would have enough power to save her friends’ lives. She spent the following weeks/months horrendously ill, battled addiction for months on end following it, suffered the fear of her closest friend being kidnapped and knowing she was unable to help, and for long periods of time basically waiting for the drug to kill her. Nina survived, but then she had new problems to contend with. She found that the drug had altered her Grisha power, something not only that she had defined herself by her entire life but also what she had been taught was why she was valued. Nina felt that she was no longer part of the world she grew up in and relied upon, but over time as Matthias unlearned everything he’d been through and began to plan to change a nation’s thinking, Nina learned to accept, use, and love her newfound power.
They had such a chance, they had so much ahead of them, they could have done so much together. And then Matthias was shot and killed by a Drüskelle child soldier (I think he was 14?) who was being manipulated and abused the same way he once was whilst Matthias tried to convince him to change his mind, and then he died in Nina’s arms. Matthias was 18. Nina was 17.
NINA IS IN FOUR BOOKS. WHAT I’VE SAID SO FAR IS ONLY FROM TWO OF THEM.
It has been a long time since I read KoS/RoW and also I’ve been going on for way too long so this is going to be in a nutshell but here we go: Nina was sent on another mission to Fjerda by the Ravkan government, to give her the opportunity to bury Matthias at home and to gather intelligence on the country. She begins to develop feelings for Hanne, a Grisha heartrender hiding their abilities in order to survive, only to discover that Hanne is JARL BRUM’S CHILD. She meets the Drüskelle who killed Matthias and endangers herself on a daily basis living with the Brum family hiding who she really is. And as the situation only gets more and more complicated and the intelligence she’s gathering only starts running deeper and deeper, Nina ends up stuck with the Fjerdan government IN the Ice Court, hiding who she is and her abilities, alongside Hanne doing the same, FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
And yet through everything Nina continues to be unbelievably strong, in every sense of the word, she is compassionate and wonderful and brave and yes, she’s quick-witted and flirty and she loves a good joke but that isn’t all she is, that’s a testament to her ability to maintain herself and her core of who she is after going through so much.
PLEASE, I AM BEGGING YOU, STOP REDUCING NINA ZENIK TO COMEDIC RELIEF. NINA IS FUNNY AND FLIRTY AND SHE LOVES JOKES, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THAT’S ALL SHE IS

If things were better, I could be all "Happy Pride!" here, but Pride Month is tough this year. I'm not happy. I'm sad, scared, and angry. Right-wing American politicians are doing everything they can to endanger trans people. The main focus of their attacks is trans kids. There are all kinds of lies being spread about what it means for children to be transgender and what gender affirming care for them looks like. Like all children, trans kids are figuring themselves out. Supportive, compassionate parents understand this and let them dress how they want. That's what's at the heart of my first Pride Month post this year.
Today's download lets ALL children wear ALL EAxis children's clothes. I did this to go along with all of my child CC being CU from now on. (Well, from a month or two ago on.) I have more to say about real life trans kids, so please read on after the download.
It's very simple. All EAxis kids clothes are now unisex. Many of them should have been from the start. What's masculine about a dark red Western shirt? And why can't a boy wear pink if he likes it? All kids should be allowed to express themselves how they like.
There's no swatch here, so have some Body Shop previews:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are similar mods out there, but mine doesn't require any special installation (just put it in Downloads) and there's an All-In-One option if you have UC or all EP's and SP's. I got so much help from @goingsimcrazy and @potentialfate-sims while I was working on this. Thanks again, both of you!!
Note: DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU USE DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS THAT CHANGE THE MESH. It works fine with replacements that only change the texture.
'Nother note: Several EP's don't add any children's clothes, so there isn't a package for those EP's in the pick-n-choose version. Nothing's missing except for the xmas elf costumes, because...I hate them. Sorry. They're mostly unisex already, I think. I have hiders for them in my game.
Download:
UC/All-In-One: SFS or MediaFire
Pick & Choose: SFS or MediaFire
So back to my rant about trans kids...
Anti-trans propaganda will try to tell you that evil queers are out to convert your kids. That's a lie. We don't want to make cis kids trans. We want trans kids to live to be trans adults. You can't make a cis kid trans any more than you can make a trans kid cis. Kids are who they are. I was once a femmy little boy in an AFAB body, roughhousing in a princess dress and happier playing with boys than girls most of the time. My parents, and everyone else, saw it and called me a tomboy...despite the princess dress. I'm very lucky to have had parents who let me express myself and didn't care if I ran around in the woods, as long as I took my tights off first. Trying to suppress or change kids just makes them miserable, and sometimes miserable kids die. It breaks my heart that there are parents who would rather have a dead child than a trans child.
If I could get one message to everyone this month, and have it sink in, it would be that NO ONE is doing gender confirming surgery on children. (Unless they're intersex and get mutilated without consent, in the name of conformity.) Even teens, who may be on puberty blockers or other hormones, don't have access to gender affirming surgeries. In America, it takes years and lots of money to have these surgeries. It's not something that's done lightly or on a whim.
That's an aspect of anti-trans rhetoric that bugs me deeply, "What if it's just a phase?" It almost never is. Gender affirming surgeries have some of the highest patient satisfaction ratings of any surgery. Higher than hip replacement and many other completely accepted surgeries.
Surgery is, again, beside the point when we're talking about trans kids. Say a nine year old realizes they're trans. All that changes is their clothes and hairstyle, and maybe their name. As they get a little older, they might be put on puberty blockers. Puberty blockers were developed for cisgender children who start puberty too soon. All these medications do is delay it. Once they're stopped, puberty starts back up. If the child changes their mind, it's as simple as not taking the blockers anymore.
A related truth is that trans people aren't the only ones who get gender affirming care. A cis woman who gets breast implants and a cis man taking testosterone for "low T" are both receiving gender affirming care. They don't face the stigma or roadblocks that a trans woman getting breast implants or a trans man taking testosterone face. I don't hear about American politicians trying to outlaw Viagra or Brazilian butt lifts or any of the other things cis people are allowed to do to feel "more like a woman" or "more like a man". Why should it be different for trans people?
I'll try not to go off on a tangent about how transitioning while young leads to "passing" (looking cisgender) more easily, but it does. And that can mean safety and acceptance. Passing shouldn't matter, but it often does. Forcing a young person, especially a trans girl, to go through puberty twice is cruel and potentially dangerous.
Going back to my personal experience for a moment, the idea of female puberty and "becoming a woman" horrified me as a kid. If I'd been offered the option of puberty blockers, I'd probably have taken them. I started developing breasts when I was nine and was forced to wear bras when I was ten. My adolescent and teen years were pretty horrible overall, and gender issues were part of that. I had the "not like the other girls" feeling, but knew by then that I wasn't 100% boy either. Maybe that would have been different if I hadn't gone through puberty with estrogen. I think sometimes about the man I might have been if I was younger and grew up in a world with more trans awareness. I had no idea about genders beyond the binary back then, but I recognized that there was something boy-ish about me. My friends, family, and other people saw it too. I was who I was, who I am. I'm so very lucky that my parents didn't try to force me to be girlier. Those years were hard enough.
Childhood is hard, and repressive, oppressive adults make it so much harder. I hope all the trans kids out there either have support at home or find it where they can. I wish we lived in a world where we could all just accept each other and live our lives. I want everyone to be safe and feel loved.
I could go on and on about various trans issues, but I think I've made my points about trans kids. Respect and protect them. They're valid and they deserve to grow up to be who they know they are.
[I have zero tolerance for transphobia. I will block and report anyone who replies to this with anything anti-trans.]

HELLO - BEFORE YOU READ THIS ASK IDK IF YOUR ENG ONLY SO DELETE THE ASK IF YOU DON'T WANT FUTURE EVENT SPOILERS BUT IF YOU'RE CAUGHT UP WITH JP SERVER EVENTS/DON'T MIND THEN! THAT'S AWESOME! SORRY FOR THE BRAINROT!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOUR MONSTER AU ('tis the one who left copious tags on your humans is weird thing starring cater, call me fluff) AND I FIGURED ID SEND IN AN ASK BECAUSE. I LOVE YOUR AU. AND YOUR BRAIN IS AMAZING.
Anywho
I'm thinking about some of the events like the Scalding sands event (or even the Harveston event) where some of the students go out away from the college and stuff - specifically the Scalding sands one because that's the one I know most about
But, like, Jamil being EVEN MORE STRESSED! Because! Not only does he have to keep an eye on Kalim, and some other classmates, but he was worried about Malleus getting into a bind... And having to bring along a HUMAN?! He'd be returning to NRC with a headache for sure lmao
Anyways I just wanted to share the fact that that was on my mind and see what you thought of it lol
- Fluff
I appreciate the spoiler warning, but while I do play the English version of the game, I am very much caught up in all the Japan server events and the shenanigans that have happened! :D Feel free to scream all the brainrot ideas at me! ÒwÓ
Thank you so much, Fluff anon~! (Though I know who you are~ >w>) It makes me so happy knowing that so many people love this AU so much, I can’t even begin to thank you all for all the love and support! QvQ
Ahem! Now then, on to the chaotic musings~ UvU
You actually touched up on a very good point: Twisted Wonderland’s events! Now, we know in the normal game that Yuu tends to get dragged into the thick of each event’s shenanigans in some way, shape, or form. However, in the Monster AU, the stakes and risks are much higher being the only human around whether they’re normal Yuu or mini!Yuu.
Halloween was even more of a nightmare for Yuu and the staff once the Magicam monsters began terrorizing both versions to post to their accounts, with several being arrested and charged by the school and research institutions for “threatening a critically endangered species” and stressing them out unnecessarily (serves them right though when they broke into Ramshackle like in the game. >.>) When it came to mini!Yuu though...let’s just say that Crowley and the rest of the school showed those Magicam monsters that it was unwise to make a scared toddler cry. Say goodbye to any social clout they had online or in real life once Mom Vil is through with them, let alone once big brothers Ortho and Idia upload crystal clear videos of their selfish and cruel disregard for the child’s comfort! >:V
Both Yuu’s are going to be very well protected and cared for once all is said and done, and they're going to get so many treats! I did, however, get a very interesting ask involving Yuu and the Halloween event, so I’m gonna play around with that idea as a scenario of sorts, as it sounds fun being “Home Alone” if you catch my drift~ >w>
Anyway, ghost Marriage, Beans Day, Fairy Gala, Harveston’s Kelkkarotu, and even the second half of the Halloween event? Yup, each one winds up being twice as chaotic than the original as it is definitely going to be hard to ignore a human walking around. Harveston will likely be the least stressful by comparison, as I’d imagine the village would be warm and welcoming to both Yuu’s as they celebrate the event together!
The Scalding Sands’ Al’ab Nariya (or “fireworks”) event, however, is going to be three times as difficult to the point it’s seriously considered that they get a bodyguard for extra security. Think Kalim’s family gets targeted a lot? Imagine a lone human in a place where thieves and criminals may be lurking in the shadows looking for a fortune! So Jamil having to worry about Malleus and Yuu? If he wasn’t stressed before, he certainly is now!
Mini!Yuu though has a much easier solution: a child harness and a carrier! The carrier would be one that can easily be swapped and worn by anyone of the group (minus Grim of course). They’ll be extra vigilant though, but rest assured they will be the safest child in Twisted Wonderland! (Also, can you imagine Malleus carrying a tiny human in a carrier on his chest or back? Adorable!)
Jamil is more than likely going to get a stress headache afterwards until they get back to school, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t have fun in the end. UvU
So yeah, any ideas for chaos or just fluff or silliness, send them my way and I shall see what I can come up with! ÒvÓ

His Highness, Juno Ara Malik
Nicknames
Junebug - by everyone who he loves
Rat King - he gained it by those who only view him for his title
Anak laki-laki ungu yang manis - possibly not translated well, but it means Sweet Purple Boy in Indonesian. It is used by his mother, as she would adorn her son in Royal purple, and since, it has become his color, it remains stained on the palace walls, and shown in almost ever rug he owns-which is ironic, considering his favorite color is actually red.
Age: 28
Birthday: January 21st
Gender/Sexuality: Bisexual man {He/Him}
Astrology: Aquarius sun, Pisces moon, Leo rising
Patron Arcana: Judgement
Upright- Awakening, decision-making, redemption, transition
Reversed - Poor logic, self-doubt, stagnation
Tumblr media
Physical Attributes:
Ethnicity: Prakran with a bit of Indonesian and Indian
Height: 5'8
Face Claim: Imran Anj
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hair:
Tumblr media
His hair is Mid-length, so a little longer than past his shoulders
Tumblr media
Light brown eyes, and thick eyebrows, but he definitely trims them to look arched most days
I'd say he looks similar to face claim completely when it comes to lips, nose, facial structure {that's generally how I picture him if he didn't have the long colorful hair}
Tumblr media
Important Relationships:
King Arogatus Malik of Kari Beaundes - His father, who rules over his home land
Lee Lee and Amaria, his cousins. Both live with him seeing as their parents died of the red plague {they were in Vesuvia at the time of the plague, it was miracle the pair didn't pass away too}
High Council Madame Luvia - His grandmother, who is deceased. She was decapitated.
Jayda - His right hand man and closest friend. Sometimes it's hard to tell if theres something between them, or just longing
Zahra - The one who handles all his business with his courtiers, and who basically took his grandmothers job. She's also a good friend of Jayda's, as he would trust her with his life, which she's complained is far too much responsibility considering how irresponsible he can be.
Favorites
Favorite food: Grilled halloumi
Favorite drink: Pinot Noir
Favorite Flower: French Hydrangea

Background/Other Info:
Juno is a bastard child, as yes, he is his father's son, but his mother was not of royal decent. Juno's father is not completely to blame for this, as his wife, The Queen, passed away of an illness, and he had to resort to sleeping with a servant to produce an heir, otherwise his line would've been endangered. Juno will not take after his father though, his cousin Amaria will; ergo why Juno's father had him take over a small Provence at the age of 14. He felt bad that his son would not be able to take after his footsteps.
Juno was raised by his teachers, servants, and guards when he was sailed across the sea to Roya. His grandmother took no interest in him besides hating him, she would regular burn his hands and back, and he remains to have a scar on his face from her dagger. In fact, her treatment only resulted in Juno growing to be spiteful and cruel in some ways, and at the age of 17, he decapitated her in a purple blaze. Her very own sword being used to do the beheading.
Because he is a bastard, he has no biological connections to the countess, but when asked about him, she called him 'Cousin Juno', and he holds her dearly for including him, even if they're not blood related.
Juno did in fact meet Nadia once, and Zahra insisted on putting a show. So they brought several animals, fabrics, and gifts for the whole palace, and city of Vesuvia. Zahra claims it was a good thing, because now vesuvians have a good image of him, but he thinks that they probably think he's stuck up for doing that much.
Style Preference/Clothing:
It's important to mention that Juno shows as much skin as possible, but not for the reasons you think. He does it to show his burns, his scars, what his grandmother has left him, to remind the people of Roya, that he too has suffered at her hand too. His need to bare himself to the world often results in lots of silk and sheer fabric. He needs to be seen.
He is often adorned in deep blue, red, black, and purple fabrics. He likes a lot of gold in jewelry, commonly wearing black jewels and rubies. He loves the way they reflect in the light. He has a nose piercing, but he'll also wear earrings and necklaces. He's actually very weirded out by lace though, so you'll see him avoid it.

Dynamic? How is he with others?
Juno, while his reputation states otherwise, is genuinely kind-hearted. While he surely can seem sly or charming, he generally has the best intentions when doing so. He's not going to treat you like a threat unless your a genuine problem.
To strangers, he's welcoming, he wants to get to know them, discover what makes them, well- them. He's aware of boundaries though, and will always make sure he's not crossing a line. He's especially kind if he has a good word about you from Zahra or Jayda, getting to know them is the key to getting to Juno if we're being honest. He holds their opinion extremely highly.
To friends, it really depends on who he's with. With Jayda, he's gentle, he jokes, but only mildly, nothing that could genuinely hurt him, and he's highly aware of how sensitive Jayda can be to insults, he knows that the magician has given him the gift of awareness, and he knows it's led to him being insecure about every single thing he does. So he is there as a pillow for Jayda. In contrast, with Zahra and Atlas, he teases them and mocks them all the time, because they do the same, and he's gained the sense they like it. They mean it in no rude way, and it's merely what their used to. For newer friends, he'll analyze you, see what you seem comfortable with, and then he'll try to follow that pattern with you
To partners, you have two options:
You show that you're not really interested in romance, you're more into the passion, the desires of it all. He will treat you as such. He will spoil you, listen to your every fantasy, and do his very best to please you. But he won't show his love as much. He will send you gifts, treat you to nice dinners, balls, all of it. But he won't show how much he loves you, because he'll think it's a turn off. Though, that doesn't mean he's not head over heels for you, he absolutely is, otherwise, your relationship would just be friends with benefits.
You show that you want him, love him, you want him to romance you, lure you in. God, will he play into your every demand. He loves you, and if you let him show it, he won't hesitate to every single moment he's around you. He's handsy, he'll keep his hand on your shoulder, your back, your face. Wherever he can. He may not be too public about it, but that's because he considers your relationship sacred to just you too. Overall though, he's way more affectionate.
Juno is always available for interactions, or ships, so if you're curious, feel free to send an ask

i do however think that jonathan eventually bonds with them (i mean, evidently so since he and mina name their child after all of them and i doubt he'd agree to that otherwise). of course he expects them to stay in touch with mina after the whole ordeal is over, she was everyone's favorite, no shit, but during that time jonathan himself would grow closer to everyone else too. both because he gets to interact with them in a non-vampire hunting constantly working life threatening scenario that does Not consume him wholly and prevent him from perceiving anyone around him, but also because they also realize that huh okay turns out jonathan has not been in his default setting this entire time and he's a completely likeable and approachable guy when he's not in intense murder work mode. plus they've been through like,,,severely traumatic events together so either way the whole group's just kinda glued to each other, even if jonathan never got full on chummy bud pal with them he knows that they're his people now, he's not just there as mina's husband.
i also like to think he'd have one of those Random Ass 3 am deep conversations slash therapy sessions slash bonding moments with quincey a little right before the end. but that's completely and unashamedly just because it makes the end Even sadder and i love to give my favorite characters pain. which would be even sadder considering all that because that would make quincey the first one out of the group that jonathan kind of warmed up to and felt connected to. and then like a day later he'd have to watch him d
im extremely sorry for this the anonymity of these asks gives me too many rambling tendencies and makes the angst gears turn.
OKAY. GOD. ONE DAY YOU GUYS ARE GONNA HAVE TO STOP ASKING QUESTIOns-- ᵒʰ ᵐʸ ᵍᵒᵈ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᵒⁿᵉ'ˢ ˢᵒ ˡᵒⁿᵍ
so the anonymity is the cause huh? hmmmmm
tiny callout "i doubt he'd agree to that otherwise" oh honey. Do you think he'd say no to Mina wanting to name their child (the one she birthed) after her best friends? Especially the friend who died to save her life just like he promised? I don't think Jono would deny her that, even if he never got closer to the others... ever.
Dunno how you'd have VH and Jonathan bond, and yet I wrote it into my fanfic. But well, that comfort scene required rewriting their entire meeting from the book. I had to change the focal point of the scene from being all about praising Mina in order to have these two interact on a greater-than-surface level. Yeah, I feel like this relationship's probably bunk in canon. "oh yeah, that's my wife's sexist adoptive father who actively endangered her life every chance he got. I still don't look him in the eyes come Christmas time."
Guys, the more you ask me about this the more aggressive against Van Helsing I get. I'm not trying to hate on him but you just keep reminding me he's a fucker.
I think there's potential for Jonathan and Arthur to develop a closer relationship post-novel. If Arthur's keeping to his word and being a proper brother to Mina, he's sure gonna be in both of their lives. They even got a headstart being stuck together on a boat. He's also just very weepy. It's so much easier to trust a man who allows himself to cry.
Meanwhile, if Jack stays at the asylum, I never see Jonathan opening up to him. Jonathan's a working middle-class man with sooo much baggage, confiding in a man who owns an asylum feels too much like selling yourself out to the cops. Jonathan gets to be a bit wary there. Who will defend him if Jack thinks he needs to be locked up? Mina, of course! But their team has gone against Mina in the past. Hopefully, Jack gets a new job.
Jonathan and Quincey having a heart-to-heart before they all split up... yeah sure. And I can even believe Jonathan not recording it if, say, during the conversation, he let slip that he did not intend to outlive Mina, no matter what needed to be done to prevent such an occurrence. But that comradery is taken to Quincey's grave.
There's also just the issue of what does Jonathan have in common with any of these men? 'Cause that's a big part of actively being friends with someone as opposed to acquaintances: shared interests and hobbies. What shared interests and hobbies do the Suitors have amongst themselves? Camping, hunting,,, gay sex. What do they share with Jonathan? Mina... maybe also gay sex but that's something you work UP to when you're trying to establish a long-lasting relationship.
Like, none of them like to write. And Jonathan is a poor city boy. His experience with roughing it out in the wilderness was very traumatic. I feel like if he ever does bond with the boys? It's gonna be hard. Really fucking hard on his mental state. Because he'll have to stretch himself thin doing stuff they're interested in and watching as they have fun together while he blends into the background. I know that because that's the story of my damn life. It's not enough to know rationally that people are trying to make you feel included because the very fact that it isn't working is enough to make you want to curl into a ball and ask to be sent home.

in the super hero au Im not sure if I asked this before but I was wondering if the siblings ever got hurt on the job I mean being a vigilante or villain or hero is an extremely dangerous profession they would have at least had some broken bones even Jimmy who works support is in constant danger
what was the most severe injury any of the characters have had and what are the side effects
also what is the worst child hood injury they’ve had because god knows they did not have the smoothest childhood and jimmy’s bad luck power was unchecked back then to
Hard to say since i don't think about the severity of injury much. I'd say Jimmy is reckless enough to get himself in a lot of trouble, and actively endanger himself. However with a good grasp on his powers he's probably not injured near as much as he should be and is pretty good at bouncing back up! Moon gets into a lot of close combat and is also very reckless she has probably gotten really seriously injured a couple times. Luckily her team has a powerful healer (Joey) so she gets by okay even when its bad. Lizzie probably takes damage that should be worse than it is given her Leviathan form she gets a pass though and is pretty tough skinned and good at brushing things off so shes usually fine or at the least willing to handle it herself until it gets too bad. Grian doesnt get injured much actually since he prefers to play at the sidelines/from a distance and his close quarters stuff is more play than anything. Hes gotten in trouble a couple times but Mumbo has his back. All in all, hero/vig/villain injuries? A lot less serious than you would expect, or at least they can recover with healers. Broken bones on more than one occasion and Moon is partial to flesh wounds but all in all pretty okay compared to others in their field. As children its a different story. Jimmy was probably bruised frequently just by virtue of his clumsiness at least. His powers were a major hazard for himself and for his siblings as well, your very right. Grian was probably also pretty banged up because he liked sneaking around and getting into shit with Joel. Lizzie was mostly at risk by being around Jimmy and little else. Pearl also got banged up a lot but that was more about normal children running around outside unsupervised kind of thing lol

Rose Tyler and the Doctor in the TARDIS
Tumblr media
- teen rose 15/16? either just before jimmy stone or maybe during a fight in their relationship runs into the doctor and runs off with him. It’s not romantic, but they become friends (somehow) Rose is always game to go exploring and never seems to mind if it’s dangerous (for her, but will fight the doctor tooth and nail if he starts willfully endangering other.)
Tumblr media
Rose and Two are much closer (Rose is not to be trusted around older men and having one die right in front of her made her realize some things) Two is technically not against the idea of him and Rose, but he reminds himself of Roses age, it would be inappropriate if he was even the age his appearance says but considering he’s already several hundred years old he keeps his distance.
Tumblr media
Stuck on earth, Three can’t hide from his feelings for his favorite human, who hasn’t aged much (due to being exposed so early in life to the TARDIS) also he can’t ignore the fact that although Zoe and Jamie were ripped away from him, the Time Lords did not separate himself and Rose...which means they couldn’t separate them. (He never assumes the time lords would do anything out of kindness). He and Rose marry in a human ceremony early on with the Brigadier officiating.  Once they get the TARDIS properly returned to them, Three makes certain to head to Gallifrey (damn the Time Lord “no humans policy”) and marries her in a proper Gallifreyan handfasting. (He finds himself unsurprised that his and Roses lifespans aren’t near as dissimilar as they should be when they mentally bond, his wonderful girl has, due to time radiation and honestly unknown factors she’s nearly as immortal as himself. (He may cry a little, when he realizes that for once, he may not have to lose someone.)
Tumblr media
Rose and the 4th doctor drive the rather stodgy Harry up the wall, (and by the time she and sarah jane are done with him, he’s almost stopped referring to women as “old girl”.) Rose also is forced to accept that 5′4 is all the height she’s getting. Traveling with Romana is an adventure, as Romana tries at first to remain aloof from the “human girl” but finds her friendliness engaging and well, Rose is at least slightly saner than the doctor and she’s got to have someone to talk to. (Leela teaches Rose how to knife fight, which is something to doctor finds terrifying)
Tumblr media
Rose is startled by her Doctor being the youngest looking he’s ever been at first, but grows accustomed as she always does. (even she can’t quite say she likes his decorative celery...she wonders if it’s a pushback against his previous jelly baby obsession. (no she is not above randomly stealing it off his lapel and eating it) (Adric’s death is awful, he’d been very much like their child and then he was gone...)
Tumblr media
Naturally when she thinks her husband can’t look dottier... but she accepts him, and even takes to wearing cat earrings to match him a little. The Time Lords try to cause more drama to their extreme annoyance. (Rose herself has never forgiven them for forcing her husband to regenerate.) She tries to bear with Mel’s constant picking about The Doctor’s weight, but it grates at times.
Tumblr media
Rose might have a bit of a thing for her husband’s accent in his seventh form... If asked by others, even later in life, Ace Mcshane will tell you her parents are The Professor and Rose...  (Rose understands the fun in explosives and encourages Ace’s passion for it.)  There are regrets of course but Rose would rather their daughter hate them in future and live.
Tumblr media
Rose has never been so terrified in her entire life when she and doctor get gunned down. Waking up post-surgery to be told her “father” died on the table is awful. Having to break in and finding an amnesiac dandy in place of her comfortable scottish husband is upsetting, partly due to missing his regeneration, (she’s almost always gotten to say goodbye one last time before) it aches, and with his memories on the blink and facing down the master (again) it’s a lot. (She can’t believe the TARDIS actually lets him have bats in the main room....) Things settle though and they come out of retirement and back to adventuring.
Then they get the call to return to Gallifrey, for full on war between the time lords and the daleks has become inevitable.
Tumblr media
The Time War is grueling, and Rose and the doctor often end up separated more and more often, leading on different parts of the front lines. It lasts an eternity, it feels like. Rose watches the proud Time Lords succumb to the horrors of war, becoming themselves those very horrors. When they hear of the decision to essentially destroy the rest of the universe to live, Rose and the Doctor agree that it cannot go on. When The Moment turns out in many ways to be a power source only, one tied to Rose herself from something she will do in the future, and how can that be? they have no future now... Rose is horrified to find that she, in so many ways is the end of her husband’s world and people. They still press the button, and the TARDIS comes for them. She takes them to just outside a building of council flats Rose hasn’t seen since she ran away with Jimmy Stone at sixteen... Her Mum is still home, and sobs as she embraces her daughter, who she hasn’t seen in nearly four years...

The Game – Nick Valentine
Nora went back and forth between the well and her house, borrowed several pots and now that the bath is fully filled, she lets out a long sigh of contentment.
She can take a bath.
She hasn’t had her little clean water therapy for a week. She’s trying to maintain a fair level of hygiene, but running water is not really...common in the Commonwealth.
She often thought of Vault 111. She knows she could easily bring in bathrooms worthy of the name, real showers worth mentioning. But she’s been unable to set foot on the hill since she buried Nate.
This is too painful.
She focuses in the moment on her bath mounted in her old bathroom, with water warmer than cold, without endanger to turn her into a ghoul and which contains no mirelurk.
As she finally enters the water, sinking to her chin with a sigh of well-being, she hears the door of the house open and the voice of her favorite synthetic singing a joyful melody.
“Let me tell you ‘bout the birds and bees, and the flowers and the trees, the moon up above, and a thing called love.”
Nora can hardly refrain from laughing when she hears it. This is the first time she has heard him sing, but when she allows herself this freedom, she often caught him humming. He must be in an incredible mood to sing a tune too… Nora frowns when she catch the meaning of the words.
“Let me tell you about the stars in the sky, a girl and a guy, and the way they could kiss on a night like this”
When the bathroom door opens on an old synth smiling with all his heart, the young woman does not know how to react. The surprise is so much that she misses slipping into the bottom of the bath trying to straighten herself at the same time she becomes aware of the fact she is in her bath so totally naked.
“Nick? What are you—
He enters directly into the bathroom while continuing to hum, a smile always well engraved on the lips.
“Hello beautiful child, are you living with your parents?”
“What the fuck, Nick?”
He places on the rim of the bath a bread of soap of hubflower and some perfumed oils.
“Can’t you see I’m in the bath?”
“Yup.”
“You drank nano-techno beer again?
"Nope."
“I’m NAKED Nick, get out of here before I crack your skull!”
She makes a gesture to grab her gun on the ledge, but he gives her a little pat on the hand.
“We calm down the aggression, I’m here to give you a good massage and then—
“No! Get out! Now!”
He smiles at her again, as one would smile at a particularly slow child, and suddenly, a declic seems to be made in Nora’s mind. Quick as lightning, she leaps out of the bath grabbing her gun this time without any hesitation and before Nick had time to react, she is in his back, grasping him by the neck, the 10mm deep in his throat.
“Why did the Institute send you, who informed you I had a coat like Nick’s in my office?”
“Nora, it’s me.”
“Nick would never be stupid enough to do that.”
“It’s me, Nora.”
“Prove it!”
She does not loosen her grip for an instant despite the synth raises its hands in the air in a gesture to show he has no bellicose intention. The slightest thing is to say he no longer smiles, rather the opposite. Well, he may have put too much faith on a relationship of mutual trust that led them to share on the ground scenes of intimacy that could lure the most brilliant of men.
“I… I thought you’d appreciate it—
“Prove to me” she growls between her teeth “you are Nick, and you have five seconds.”
He tries to think as quickly as he can, but it seems that nothing comes to mind to calm the game at this precise moment. The Deliverer’s silencer sinks a little deeper into its circuits.
“This scene reminds me too much of the one we live at Thicket Excavation…”
“I don’t remember, find something else.”
“You’re my best friend? We tracked down Eddie Winter together.”
“The whole Commonwealth know that, and the birds of the Institute have had to bring everything back.”
“You were in love with Porter!”
“Too easy, all the Minutemen present that day can attest that.”
She pulls the slide to engage the ball. Nick panics even more.
“You… you have nightmares! In your nightmares… you hear my voice laughing at you!”
“It’s a start, but again it’s information that could have escaped.”
“The New Year’s Eve! You fell asleep at the bar, I held you in my arms and as I wanted you to sleep all night, I kept you with me. We slept on your couch in your house. The next morning, I was sleeping when you woke up. I had a dream. I dreamt about Jenny. When you wanted to tell me you were leaving, I kissed you. I thought you were Jenny. We never talked about it again. You never wrote it in your journal. The only way I know is if I’m the person who kissed you.”
The weapon finally seems to want to leave its position and Nora steps back. When Nick slowly turns to her, she has already put on a bathrobe, but she now crosses her arms, staring at him with anger.
“What the hell is this?”
He sighed, breathing a good blow to calm his circuits that were starting to overheat. Now the panic is leaving him, he is frankly annoyed.
"Shit, I just wanted to give you a little thalassotherapy session."
“You keep that kind of shit for Ellie. You don’t walk into a lady’s bathroom uninvited.”
“Noted, duly noted! Sorry, I may have taken too much liberty. Don’t think I’ll make that mistake again.”
“And to think you’re the one who always blames me for making us look like a couple.”
“It won’t happen again, trust me!”
He takes his leave and Nora hesitates for a while. She ends up getting out of the bathroom, getting a chair in the kitchen, and bringing it back with her. Once the door is closed behind her, she locks the chair under the handle to prevent future invasion. So, finally, she can go back and relax in her bath. No-obstat that Nick entered her intimacy as an idiot, she now considers the hubflower soap he left on the rim of the bath. A thin smile appears on her lips. It will not be said she will not enjoy it.
For his part, Nick goes straight to the bar where he only finds Deacon and Hancock in big conversation at this time of the day.
“I lost” he launches without introduction.
“I know” Deacon says, trying not to laugh.
Hancock, for his part, is downright hilarious.
“So, Nick, we thought we had a ticket with the lady?”
“Never speak to me again about this stupid bet. If one of you dares to refer to it, he will never see this old synth again.”
“So bad?” Hancock, who is starting to hiccup, asks.
“You don’t care about our friendship?”
Deacon takes care of reporting his failure to the other participants in the evening. Nick and Nora are back on the road, an investigation to be conducted in Boston. It can be said, however, that Deacon’s version of events will provoke laughter for a long time whenever MacCready, Preston, Danse or Sturges remember it.

Jedi Apprentice:
Quotes:
Obi-Wan was at a loss. "But I didn't know Bruck well. I knew how he would move in a lightsaber duel, yes. But not what was in his mind or heart."
No one said anything. Obi-Wan struggled not to betray his apprehension. He had disappointed the Jedi Masters once more. Looking around the room, he did not meet one friendly eye. Even Yoda gave him no encouragement. He wanted to wipe his damp palms on his tunic, but he didn't dare.
"Of course I'll do whatever I can to help," he added quickly. "Just tell me what you want me to do. I can talk to his friends -"
"No need," Mace Windu interrupted. He laced his long fingers together. "Until a decision is made by the Council, we must ask you not to interfere with Temple business unless we ask you otherwise."
Obi-Wan felt stung. "The Temple is my home!" he cried.
"You are welcome to remain here until your situation is resolved, of course," Mace Windu said. "There is still much discussion to take place."
"But there is a real threat to the Temple," Obi-Wan argued. "You need help. And I wasn't here during the petty thefts. I'm one of the few Jedi students who can be ruled out as a suspect. Someone could have helped Bruck. I could investigate."
Obi-Wan saw with a sinking feeling that he had made a mistake. He should have known better than to ask the Council to take him back based on the fact that he could be of use to them in a crisis.
Mace Windu's sharp gaze cut him like ice. "I think the Jedi can manage to solve the crisis without that kind of help from you."
"Of course," Obi-Wan said. "But I wish to tell all the Jedi Masters that I feel genuine remorse for my decision. It felt right at the time, but I've come to see how wrong it was. I want nothing more than to have back what I once had. I want to be a Padawan. I want to be a Jedi."
"Have again what you had, you cannot," Yoda said. "Different you are. Different is Qui-Gon. Every moment makes you so. Every decision a cost it has."
Ki-Adi-Mundi spoke up. "Obi-Wan, you have violated not only the trust of Qui-Gon, but the trust of the Council. You seem not to recognize this."
"But I do!" Obi-Wan exclaimed. "I take responsibility for it and I'm sorry for it."
"You are thirteen years old, Obi-Wan. You are not a child," Mace Windu said with a frown. "Why do you speak as one? Sorry does not make the offense disappear. You interfered in the internal affairs of a planet without official Jedi approval. You defied the order of your Master. A Master depends on the loyalty of the Padawan, just as the Padawan depends on the Master. If that trust is broken, the bond shatters."
The sting of Mace's words made Obi-Wan wince. He did not expect the Council to be so severe. He couldn't look at Qui-Gon. His gaze found Yoda's.
"Unclear your path is, Obi-Wan," Yoda said with more gentleness. "Hard it is to wait. But wait you must to see your way revealed."
"You may go, Obi-Wan," Mace Windu said. "We must speak with Qui-Gon privately. You may go to your old quarters."
Well, at least that's something, Obi-Wan thought. He struggled to maintain his dignity as he bowed to the Council. But he knew his cheeks burned with shame as he left the room.
--
"As for you, Obi-Wan," Mace Windu said, turning to him, "you are to be thanked for your rescue of the children. You showed quick thinking."
Obi-Wan opened his mouth to answer with humility, as a Jedi should. But Mace Windu kept talking.
"However," he continued, "you also showed that impulsiveness is your flaw. The same flaw that has led us to hesitate about your suitability to be a Jedi. You acted alone. You did not wait for help and direction. You could have endangered the children needlessly. The shaft could have broken free."
"But I tested my weight, and I moved carefully. A - And help was not arriving -" Obi-Wan said, stuttering. He was stunned that the Council had found fault with him.
Mace Windu turned away. Obi-Wan's own voice echoed in his ears, and he realized that he sounded as though he were stammering out excuses. Bant looked at him with compassion.
"Please do not interfere again," Mace Windu said. "The Council will now discuss what is to be done about the shaft. We must close down the wing."
Qui-Gon put his hand on Bant's shoulder. The two followed the Council members from the lake. Obi-Wan stood, watching them go. He did not think this day could get any worse. Now it had. In the eyes of the Council, he could do nothing right.
And in Qui-Gon's eyes, he was worth nothing at all.
--
"And another thing," Siri interrupted, her eyes shooting sparks at him. "I do care about the Temple. You're the one who left the Jedi. When you did that, you cast doubt on the commitment of all Padawans, present and future. You made all Jedi Knights question whether we're as committed as we should be. You're almost as bad as Bruck!"
Siri's words hit his cheeks like slaps from an open hand. Color rushed to Obi-Wan's face. Was this what the other students felt? That he had betrayed them? Obi-Wan hadn't considered before that his action could cast doubt on the commitment of all Padawans. Faced with a similar situation, would he offer to help someone who had done what he had done?
With every encounter at the Temple, Obi-Wan received a wider picture of the consequences of his decision to stay on Melida/Daan. Now he realized that his action had left a wider pool of ripples than he'd thought.
A decision is yours alone to make. Yet remember you should that you make it also for the silent ones who stand at your shoulder.
--
"Good move, Oafy-Wan," Bruck sneered.
Bruck had given him that nickname when they were students in the Temple, making fun of his growing legs and his occasional misstep during training.
At the memory of Bruck's cruelty, a sudden passion for vengeance rose in Obi-Wan. Bruck's cruelty had once been petty. Now it was dangerous. Xanatos had made Bruck a killer.
Boiling anger blurred his vision. He hated Bruck as he had hated no living creature. Anger drove out the Force completely, leaving him in a vacuum that he filled with his rage. The rage united with his fear and panic and created a dark cloud that threatened to overtake him completely.
Bruck saw the change in his eyes. His own pale blue eyes flashed with cruel satisfaction. He planted both hands on the hilt of the lightsaber and raised it high.
In that split second, Obi-Wan saw the seeds of his own defeat.
This is the moment. The very worst time is the time you must follow the Code.
Cast away your doubt, Padawan. Let the Force enter you.
Obi-Wan raised his saber. He let his anger and fear move through him, exhaling them in a breath. He reached inside and found his center of calm.
--
"That's it, Bruck," Obi-Wan said. "Give up."
"Never!" Bruck yelled fiercely, hate still in his eyes. Bruck's face contorted in a frenzy of frustrated rage. He leaned down to pick up a weapon to throw at Obi-Wan, any of the rocks that lined the bed. But the water pulled at him, and he slipped on the mossy rocks. He lost his footing and stumbled back to the very edge of the waterfall. He teetered on the edge for an instant, his eyes wide with disbelief and panic.
In one fluid motion, Obi-Wan deactivated his lightsaber and leaped forward. He reached out a hand, ready to pull Bruck to safety. But it was too late. Bruck's panic sent his arms windmilling, further unsettling his balance. Obi-Wan felt Bruck's fingertips brush his as his opponent tumbled backward into thin air.
Obi-Wan stepped forward and grimaced as he saw Bruck's body hit a rock and bounce, then hit another. He landed on the dry grass beside the waterfall. His head lay at an awkward angle, and he was still.
Obi-Wan gathered the Force to him and dove off the top of the falls. He landed clear of the rocks, and pushed himself upward through the cool water. He swam quickly to the bank and vaulted out onto the grass. He felt for Bruck's vital signs.
Bruck was dead. Obi-Wan guessed that he had died instantly. His neck was broken.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Eps 1 and 2
Spoilers ahoy.  I’ll drop a lot of things behind a cut, but I am going to start reposting gif sets and memes later today (tagged appropriately, but fair warning anyway)
Obi-Wan Kenobi is not the star of his own show so far.  And perhaps rightfully so.
And once again, Star Wars makes us have feelings about a planet that got blown up an hour into A New Hope back in 1977.
One of the major points in Star Wars mythos:  it is about family, both biological and chosen.  It is about attachments, both in the healthy psychological sense that Jedi do have and in the Buddhist/Jedi sense that Jedi should not have.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is an utter mess internally because he has severed himself in every fashion and form from the galaxy and every form of family he had.  Connections to the Jedi Order -- who have raised him since he was a baby?  Gone.  Connections to people, socially?  None; he cannot risk being found to be Force Sensitive or tip his hand regarding his prior life.  His old friends, like Bail?  Clone Troopers?  Can’t.  Too dangerous. (I wonder if he tried to identify the trooper he met on Daiyu...)  His closest ‘relationship’ is probably Owen Lars -- and it’s apparent what Owen feels about Obi Wan and what happened to his step-brother.
He’s also not used the Force in many years, as evidenced by his struggle to reach out and catch Leia in Episode 2.  He has severed himself from something that would have flowed through him, been around him, held him for the first 35+ years of his life.
And he severed it.  To preserve himself.  To preserve Luke.
If Star Wars is about family, Obi Wan has done his best to preserve what remains of his family -- by giving them up and trying (and struggling) not to let his attachments endanger them.  At the same time, this show is all about families: the Organa family and the Lars family.  I have no doubt we will see more of the latter.
For now, in the first two episodes, the focus is on House Organa.  Star Wars properties do a great job in making us feeling something for Alderaan, a planet blown to smithereens about an hour into ANH.  I’ll admit, Alderaan is one of my favorite places in SWTOR, so I love seeing it.  It’s a beautiful planet, and I did enjoy that a lot of the political infighting we see in SWTOR isn’t gone; even as the Empire looms over their heads, there are some toffs that are oblivious since it doesn’t bother them, personally.
Jimmy Smits is always a joy as Bail. And welcome to Simone Kessel I love how the series makes it very clear that Breha is the Organa -- Bail took her name, and he’s the consort.  Breha is the queen of Alderaan and the dynast and the boss.  I don’t think that was conveyed as well in the prequels; Bail’s status as senator was more emphasized due to the need to create ties to Padme. The Breha character was left relatively undeveloped as a personality to this point, and I was happy to see her not only as a loving mother but also as Queen, regnant.
Vivien Lyra Blair as the young Leia is quite good.  Lot of credit goes to the writers for getting a precocious ten year old right.  Yes, she can be very clever and also dumb as a pile of bricks at the same time.  That is the glory of being a child.  The actress also ‘gets’ how she is meant to be a combination of three people:  Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, and Leia as portrayed by Carrie Fisher.  I think Blair has done an excellent job.  The costumers have also done well to capture the fact she is Padme’s daughter as well as making reference to future outfits.
The banter between Obi-Wan and Leia substantiates a lot of what we see in A New Hope in Leia’s message, as well as her later decision to name her son Ben (something that Luke does in the EU with his son with Mara Jade).  The producers and scriptwriters here are tidying up those connections, because in all honesty, until this series, Obi-Wan has always been considered closer to Luke than Leia.
As to why Leia isn’t as upset as Luke at Obi-Wan’s death in ANH, keep in mind that she also just saw Alderaan, with her parents on it, blow up.  She might have had a few adventures with Ben Kenobi, but she’s just lost her entire world, literally.
Ep 2 ends with Obi-Wan learning that Lord Vader -- Anakin Skywalker -- is alive.  And his daughter is right there.  Other commentators have captured how, while Leia is much like Padme in terms of fashion sense and career trajectory, she is absolutely Anakin’s daughter in many other ways.  It’s canon that Leia is not going to find out that Anakin is her father until Return of the Jedi; Leia knows that she is adopted, but nothing about her parents beyond whatever fragmented imprints might have been made my Padme’s death.
We are left with Obi-Wan having to confront Anakin, his family, while saving Anakin’s family from him. Leia has nothing to do with Anakin Skywalker; it is biology, not family, that binds them. Obi-Wan was Anakin’s family in the Jedi Order but also beyond that; they weren’t just paired up randomly nor chosen through discernment.  Star Wars has always emphasized families coming together to save themselves -- whether by blood or by choice.
I... wasn’t wowed by the Inquisitors.  It’s not just the look.  There is some lack of cogent logic as to why Reva is being criticized for doing her job; if Vader thinks Obi-Wan might be out there, he wants someone chasing those leads.  Yet, the main Inquisitor seems to have motivational problems; he just wants to use the spectre of Jedi Hunting to cow people into obedience and maybe shake out some Temple rejects.
The Inquisitors should not have this rivalry we see.  They are not true Sith, just fallen Jedi; the Sith still abide by the Rule of Two, but fallen Jedi would not. They haven’t adopted the way; they don’t practice the philosophy or receive instruction.  There’s no benefit for the Inquisitor to screw up Reva’s career or prevent her from her job.  Might there be some sort of superiority complex over having been trained or not?  But if you destroyed the Temples, that is exactly what your employee pool is going to be at a certain point! As depicted, these guys are self-defeating in the same way a DS 5 Sith can be in SWTOR: their alignment becomes Stupid Evil.  This is evidenced when the Inq and Reva start fighting while KNOWING Obi-Wan is RIGHT THERE.
I’m also discomfited by Reva’s depiction as angry, defiant, and cruel, and also being the only black female character. All the things I despise in prequels fic re: Mace Windu (making him angry, cruel, defiant when canonically, the character is not -- he’s like the Jedi granddad of Kanan, since Mace trained Depa Bilaba and she trained Kanan...) are manifesting in Reva.  I don’t like that.
I do want to see more of Beru than we have previously (I’m fan of her being White Sun of the Resistance, hehehe).  I might pay money to see Hondo arrive and ruin Kenobi’s day.  While I don’t want it to become an albatross, seeing other outcomes to Jedi who escaped the Temple and how they get by would be welcome.
I have a separate post about my love for Haja Estree, so I’ll post that later.

Note
Here’s another what if. Noticing that just about all the guys have untreated trauma and mental health issues Evan hires a (competent) therapist to come in and help treat everyone. How do sessions with each of the guys go and who’s the most and least receptive to the therapist aid? What do they discover about themselves during these talks?
Oh man, I could write an entire story about this subject alone...I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but it's still going to be long so strap in.
Evan actually did hire a therapist in "Allmother's Gift", but only for Lukas. Dr. Jan is a telepath who specializes in trauma. She uses her powers to guide patients through their painful memories and resolve their feelings about them.
I think Dr. Jan would be a good fit for the rest of the crew as well, if only they would accept her help. Lukas refused any kind of therapy until things got really dire and his mental health issues began endangering not only his own life, but the lives of his friends too. This was explored in the story "Divine Executioner".
Evan: Evan realizes he's kind of screwed up and needs help, but he's paranoid about being shunned or hunted because of his lycanthropy, so he doesn't like to share his personal life with just anyone. He would really have to trust that therapist to open up to them. I think the most pressing issue they'd address is Evan's guilt complex over taking three innocent lives when he was young--including that of his own father. It's this guilt that inspired him to be a "Good Guy" in the first place. His obsessive need to do the right thing and fix the world is driven by his desire to make up for his sins, which he can't seem to forgive himself for. He seeks forgiveness from the universe itself, which of course he'll never receive.
Lukas: Lukas is already seeing Dr. Jan for his issues, and boy does he have a lot of them...The man is a human bucket overflowing with trauma. He suffered severe abuse from his mother as a child, and escaping her was just leaping out of the frying pan and into the fire, as he landed into the hands of ruthless bandits who enslaved and abused him further. Not to mention he's responsible for the death of his beloved childhood friend, who he shot with an arrow by accident, and this haunts him so badly that he can barely speak her name. He suffers from depression, severe insomnia, stress-induced migraines, irritability, and suicidal thoughts among other things. Of all the Freelance Good Guys, I'd say Lukas is in the most dire need of therapy, and thankfully he is receiving it as of "Allmother's Gift".
Glenvar: Oh boy, good freaking luck getting this guy into a clinic...He's so emotionally constipated that he refuses to cry in front of anyone, including his best friends. He won't open up to them about anything because as a child, he was scolded and called "weak" for shedding tears. So, expressing serious emotion is forbidden in Glenvar's mind. He copes either by getting violent or making jokes and laughing everything off. He would be immensely uncomfortable talking to a therapist. He wouldn't even entertain the idea. I think he would only do it if he was given some kind of ultimatum, like if Evan told him he has to attend therapy or else lose his job. And if he did, I think he and his therapist would mainly focus on the issue that he struggles to open up and be genuine.
Alaine: Alaine is really paranoid about the idea of someone "getting into her head". Considering her past, that isn't surprising. It would take a lot of convincing to get her in the door, but maybe she'd agree so long as one of her friends accompanied her during her sessions. Alaine is a strange case because unlike most mermaids, she actually remembers her time as an undine's thrall. She remembers every little detail because the divines Salina and Marina cured her amnesia, which was both a blessing and a curse. She remembers the faces of all the people she killed during her enslavement, all the children she kidnapped, all the chaos and damage she caused, and these things haunt her so much that she screams and thrashes in her sleep. She's also prone to fits of mania and paranoia, which can strike at any time. She lost most of her teenage years to this thralldom and never learned to be mature, so she can act really childish and volatile at times. Her therapist would probably want to address her sleeping issues first, then teach her ways to cope with her emotions when they get overwhelming. Because as she is, Alaine is quick to start screaming and hitting people when she's upset.
Jeimos: Jeimos would be very open to seeing a therapist. But they're also notoriously bad at taking care of themselves, so this therapy would have to be made as convenient as possible for them. If it's even slightly inconvenient they just won't attend, because this is a person who will starve themselves and hold their piss for 12 hours because they're too immersed in a project to get out of their seat for 5 minutes. Jeimos would need a therapist who specializes in body dysphoria and anxiety disorders. The root of Jeimos' gender issues isn't clear, but their anxiety definitely stems from their strict, oppressive upbringing. They were born and raised in one of the most oppressive empires on Looming Gaia, and on top of that, their parents put waaaaay too much academic pressure on them. Their mother was also severely schizophrenic which led to some level of abuse. Unintentional abuse, but abuse nonetheless. I think learning some simple coping skills for their anxiety would go a long way for them.
Isaac: Isaac is surprisingly well-adjusted, given the circumstances. But he still has some deep-rooted issues to work on. So deep, in fact, that he doesn't even know how to address them because his trauma is lost behind a wall of amnesia. He knows that he gets really anxious sometimes, but he can't figure out why. He knows that he has vivid nightmares that cause him to scream in his sleep and wet the bed, and he knows that certain things paralyze him with fear for seemingly no reason, but he can't trace the "why" back to anything in particular. When the minervae laid him to rest in the Trial of Titans, they took away all memory of his life before that day. But what they couldn't take away were all the feelings his body had developed during that life. The whole reason Karenza sealed him away in the first place was because he was developing PTSD from Disgrace's attacks against them. Isaac still has PTSD, except now he has no idea why. It would take one seriously skilled telepath to break through the minervae's amnesia spell.
Linde: Linde's life was largely uneventful...until the day it wasn't. Everything changed literally overnight when her parents were murdered right in front of her, then she was kidnapped and trafficked across the Serkel Desert by slavers. This was the most harrowing event of her life, and if she does have PTSD, this would definitely be why. She does show post-traumatic stress symptoms in "Body-Hopping" when talking about her mother, which implies that she hasn't fully accepted her parents' deaths yet. It's something she just avoids talking about because it hurts, but I think talking about it with a professional would be helpful to her. In addition, Linde was born with albinism, which is a taboo condition in her culture. It's so taboo that her parents had to send her to private school, because they feared she'd be murdered or kidnapped just for the color of her skin (and we all know how that plan turned out...) Linde hated her condition, not only because she lived in one of the sunniest climates on Looming Gaia, but because she believed it made her ugly. In "Pig Bait", she admits that she used to obsess over her looks and try to fix things about herself that were never broken, and it caused her a lot of distress. It seemed she overcame that on her own at some point, but addressing it with a therapist still wouldn't hurt.
Balthazaar: Balthazaar's a pretty easygoing guy. If someone suggested therapy and offered to pay for it, he'd probably do it. And god knows the man needs it, because currently the only coping skills he has are drinking himself sick and screwing prostitutes. He's experienced some harrowing things in his life, but didn't actually develop PTSD symptoms until "From the Ashes". He took everything in stride before that, but after his wife's death he just seemed to crumble into a sad, alcoholic mess. Feredil was basically the only family he had, so losing her was a devastating blow, even if their marriage was less-than-perfect (okay, it was downright terrible...) He would need a therapist who specializes in grief and loss to teach him how to deal with this better than he has been.
Skel: On the outside, Skel just seems like a regular ol' asshole. But on the inside, the man is a tangled-up spaghetti-ass mess of weird neuroses and psychological problems that even he doesn't understand. His childhood was...let's say, unusual. He was a slave for the royal family of Barha, but not really treated like a slave. He was treated like one of the family until it came time for the princess to marry. Skel and the princess happened to be in a long-term relationship, but she left him for a foreign prince anyway because, in her words, he was "just a slave". Skel got roundhouse-kicked right in the ego that day and it still aches. He hasn't resolved his feelings about it at all. He copes with it in strange ways that he isn't proud of, like secretly roleplaying as an elven princess and expressing bigotry towards elves. He also has a great deal of self-loathing over the simple fact that he's a goblin, as he believes goblins are inferior to other species. There's a lot going on with this guy, and the worst part is, he'd rather die than open up about it. I don't see any way to get him into therapy, to be honest. He's taking his issues with him to the grave.
Javaan: Javaan wouldn't be against therapy. He's pretty open about the hardships he's faced in his life, even to total strangers. He even brags about how he's managed to survive so much horrible shit. He's takes pride in himself, and honestly, he should. He's pretty damn resilient. But that doesn't mean he couldn't benefit from a little help, because although he doesn't express his trauma in the usual ways, it's definitely still there. He has dysfunctional habits like drinking too hard and being irresponsibly promiscuous in an attempt to fill a void left behind by the harrowing death of his mother. Javaan also feels guilt over the fact that he's the product of rape, and he's ashamed and disgusted by his father. He's ashamed to share blood with a person so cruel, and I think that's one of the first things that would be addressed with his therapist.
Elska: Sometimes it seems like Elska has no feelings at all, but that couldn't be further from the truth. She feels things very deeply, probably deeper than most. Unfortunately she has a lot of trouble expressing how she feels, so it can come out in explosive, violent, awkward, or otherwise inappropriate ways. She lost her entire clan to slavers, and I imagine there's a level of survivor's guilt that comes with that. She probably wouldn't resist therapy. But whoever her therapist was, they'd need a unique approach because Elska is a unique individual.
Mr. Ocean: While Mr. Ocean does have some mental health issues, at this point in his life I'd say the most urgent ones are physical and not psychological, meaning a therapist wouldn't do him much good. His brain is literally rotting, and this affects his mood and memory pretty severely at times. Any progress a therapist made with him would likely be forgotten after a short time. While I don't think a therapist would be very helpful to Mr. Ocean in the long-term, I think they could actually help him in the short-term. Just having someone there to calm him down when he's distressed or redirect him when he's about to make a bad decision certainly wouldn't hurt. Currently his friends play this role for him, though some are more successful at it than others.
Zeffer: He's not seeing a therapist. Nope. No way. Because if he opened up to them about the heinous things he's done, he'd have to kill them, and nobody wants that. Zeffer's childhood was a bit dysfunctional, as his mother was working all the time, his father was absent, and he basically had to raise himself in a really poor, crime-riddled city. But after he became a vampire, things got so much worse. His life just spiraled straight down into hell, and he endured sights and experiences so horrible that he refuses to speak them aloud. Zeffer is immensely paranoid to the point that he wouldn't trust anyone who tried to help him. Literally the only person he trusts is Evan, and that in itself is a symptom of mental sickness. This poor guy's mental health was doomed from the start, he never stood a chance.

this is legitimately one of my top five favorite kakashi scenes.
i love seeing kakashi break the rules in the name of doing the right thing, and this scene especially is particularly satisfying to me, because his moment of defiance here is, to my mind, long overdue.
one of my eternal frustrations in early naruto is how the leaf village administration gives kakashi the job of caring for a group of super high-needs children and then continually makes that job as difficult for him as possible.  they task him with being solely responsible for the development and well-being of three twelve year-olds - a group that includes naruto (a walking disaster with a god’s power trapped inside his body) and sasuke (a genocide survivor fixated on killing his own brother), BOTH of whom are being hunted by different groups of supercriminals - and then the village keeps getting in kakashi’s way or dropping the ball or actively ordering him to prioritize other things.
so much of what goes wrong with the kids in this period is the result of other people interfering with kakashi’s work or being negligent or endangering the kids/putting kakashi in impossible positions.  team 7’s first big mission sets the tone for everything that comes after, with someone else’s lie putting kakashi in a situation where he has to single-handedly protect not just the client who deceived him, but the three children who were supposed to be the clients’ other protectors.  and after that, the list just multiplies:
ten anbu operatives can’t manage to protect sasuke’s hospital room from orochimaru’s minions, so kakashi has to do it himself and then whisk sasuke out of the village for a month, leaving naruto in the hands of a substitute and sakura with her parents
genma orders sasuke to chase after gaara when the chunin exams blow up, saying “you’re at chunin level already,” which forces kakashi to immediately dispatch more kids to bring him back, because “ffs NO i do NOT want him out there doing that why the fuck would you tell him to do that?!”
aoba runs his mouth off about itachi when sasuke is standing RIGHT THERE, instantly undoing all the work kakashi just did to prevent itachi and sasuke from coming anywhere near each other (and thus sending sasuke to that disastrous first encounter, the outcome of which ultimately leads to sasuke’s defection)
jiraiya decides he should let sasuke try to fight itachi himself, “out of respect for the boy’s feelings,” leading to sasuke ending up in a tsukuyomi coma
tsunade orders kakashi to drop his teaching work and leave the village on a mission even though a) he’s just gotten out of his own torture-induced coma and b) sasuke is having a crisis that kakashi is trying to manage
and then when kakashi gets back from that mission and finds out that surprise, all of this meddling has led to a disaster, tsunade tries to order him away AGAIN
but this time - he just says no.
he walks right out of her office.  he turns his back on her.  and there is NOTHING i love more than seeing kakashi embody the philosophy that he’s chosen to adopt as his guiding light: those who break the rules are scum.  but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum.
it’s not that he doesn’t understand where tsunade is coming from here.  but he knows she’s wrong.  she’s making her decisions based solely on concerns about the Leaf Village being in a tight spot - feeling like they can’t turn down missions because they’ll appear weak and thus become vulnerable to attack when they’re already operating at half strength.  she sends a group of twelve year-olds to bring sasuke back because supposedly the village can’t spare anyone else, “even if it means letting the sharingan fall into orochimaru’s hands” - but like.  it’s not the sharingan.  it’s a child.  sasuke isn’t just a repository for his hereditary jutsu; he’s not a pair of eyes to be passed around from one wielder to the next.  he’s a human child.
tsunade doesn’t know sasuke.  she’s new to the situation and doesn’t know enough about it to understand how serious it is.  i don’t even think she was still in the village when the uchiha massacre occurred; the timeline makes it sound like she left long before that.  she doesn’t really understand who sasuke is or how much trouble he’s in - she makes her decision because she feels like her first priority has to be the well-being of the Leaf as a whole, not the individual people who comprise it.  kakashi, though, who a) lives his life by a very different philosophy and b) does understand sasuke’s situation, would not have dealt with the issue like this, and if the village had let him do his job from the beginning, things wouldn’t have gotten to this point in the first place.
kakashi is horrified that tsunade sent a bunch of twelve year-olds out to fight orochimaru’s ninja, and i think he’s also probably angry and/or frustrated about having been ordered out of the village in the first place.  he was dealing with the situation before tsunade sent him away.  he interrupted the fight between sasuke and naruto even though he himself had literally just gotten out of the hospital, and then he continued addressing the issue with sasuke privately (unlike jiraiya’s non-attempt to address it with naruto, when he said he was going to give naruto a talking-to but actually flaked out).  kakashi knew sasuke was struggling, and he was doing all the things a teacher is supposed to do to address it, but then he was ordered away, and even though it was just for two days, it was enough time for everything to go to hell.
if people would just let him do his job - if the administration would let him focus on the task they themselves assigned to him - things would be different.  but everybody wants him to do everything.  they want him to be everywhere.  they want him to protect the nine-tails jinchuriki (who is also kakashi’s dead teacher’s son), and train the last surviving uchiha (which is a task only kakashi and his sharingan can perform), and give equal attention to a third kid, for good measure, and they want him to do it without stepping away from any of his other burdens, all while other people around him constantly frustrate the progress he makes.
so this time, when tsunade tries to send him away, he refuses.  he disobeys her orders and walks out of the room.  he doesn’t care about the rules or what he’s “legally” obligated to do.  he knows what the RIGHT thing to do is, and so he rejects his new mission in favor of rescuing the kids.
i love these moments.  i love when we’re shown so clearly the person kakashi has chosen to be - someone who does what’s right, not just what he’s told.  he made an active choice many years ago to adopt that philosophy, and he’s been living by those new rules ever since.  he's wiser now than he was when he was a child - sometimes you have to break ranks to do the right thing.  sometimes you have to buck the system, even if it means you might face severe personal consequences.
he had one of two choices: either save the mission or his comrades.  of course, according to the law of the village, you cannot abandon a mission.  but to save the life of his comrades, he put the mission on hold.
kakashi may have spent a good chunk of his childhood trying to reject everything the subject of that story stood for, but none of his attempts to harden his heart ever stuck.  he is, in the end, his father’s son.

Abuse of Children Portrayed in Film
I like to use movies as an escape from the harshness of the real world and one of the things that I have learned about in my education is the effects on children when they are mistreated. I have a Masters Degree in Developmental Psychology and one of the hardest classes for me to handle was Abnormal Development in Children and Adolescents. We covered everything from dealing with dyslexia and ADHD to surviving severe abuse and loss at a very early age. We had guest speakers that ranged from people who had escaped genocide as children, to individuals who had been sold into prostitution by their parents, to people who had suffered severe abuse from their parents or guardian. I have heard stories that will stick with me forever and that is nightmare fuel that I don't want to share.
Because of my background education, I take note of the treatment and behavior of children and adolescents in the movies that I watch. There have been many great movies over the years that have depicted the suffering of children and it has always been difficult for me to deal with. There are more well known examples of films that focus on suffering but throw in more of a "sometimes we all suffer, even the children" message that demonstrate that kids aren't immune to great travesties (basically any film about The Holocaust). There are also well known films that show children "coming of age" through hardship (Annie 1982, Oliver! 1968) but end perfectly. There is a more current series of films that focuses entirely on a boy discovering a fantasy world that was robbed from him when his parents were murdered by a tyrant (Harry Potter series). But in this list I want to review some lesser known films that show examples of abuse. Even after all that I have seen and heard, the following list of films have affected me personally for one reason or another. Sometimes the children in these films endure and overcome their situation in the end. Sometimes these children do not survive or sadly remain in their misfortunes. To me, this can make the movie all the more powerful because of the incredible amount of pathos that endangering a child character can add. It can also make it a heart wrenching experience that is painful to watch. Here are some powerful films in which children suffer and the struggle is one of the main plot lines of the movie:
SPOILER WARNING AND VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISORY!!! I AM GOING TO GIVE AWAY THE PLOT TO THESE FILMS AND IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING THAT SOME OF THE PLOTS ARE DISTURBING!!! EITHER WATCH THE FILM IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS OR CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING SUMMARIES IF YOU WOULD RATHER JUST HEAR WHAT HAPPENS SO YOU KNOW IF YOU WANT TO WATCH OR NOT!!!

Sybil (TV Movie) 1976
I just recently saw this film after I had heard of the story in my abnormal development class almost 10 years ago. It is the story of a woman who developed multiple personalities to deal with a childhood in the care of an undiagnosed schizophrenic mother. The movie stars Sally Fields and is based on a true account of Shirley Ardell Mason and her treatment by psychologist Cornelia Wilbur. The acting in the film is overdramatic at times, but it definitely reminded me of some of the actual old videos of Shirley Mason and her sudden strange switches in personality when she was scared or anxious. Dr. Wilbur used hypnosis to actually introduce Mason to her alternate personalities and she was able to recognize her disassociative identity disorder and overcome it. It still hurts me to think that this person was mentally wounded so deeply by her parents that it basically shattered her into pieces in an effort to make sense of things.

Leon: The Professional 1994
I mention this film a lot because it is a heartwarming story of an assassin teaching a young orphan how to murder. It is the breakout role for Natalie Portman and it is just amazing. Leon is a "cleaner" that lives next door to an abusive and addictive family with a troubled girl named Mathilda. The father gets in trouble with the mob and some enforcers come by and slaughter most of the family while Mathilda is getting groceries. She returns during the massacre and realizes what is happening so continues next door and pleads for shelter. Leon takes her in and teachers her the trade and protects her from the men who want to finish her off. The movie was written and directed by Luc Besson and stars Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and Natalie Portman. The suffering that this girl endures because of her parent's addictions hurts me, yet I have seen and enjoyed this film many times. I recommend watching when in the mood to be deeply affected by the trials of a little girl and the killer who protected her.
Tumblr media
Kids 1995
This film came out when I was early in high school and bothered me greatly. It is a story by Harmony Korine, and one of his many attempts to capture the hopeless lives of unmotivated and unsupervised teens. These are young teens having unprotected sex, stealing money to do drugs, and attacking people in the park. I did not really go to these kinds of parties when I was that age (or ever really) and it has bothered me to think that adolescents would partake in this kind of behavior. It is hard for me to believe that these kids had the ability to mentally comprehend the consequences of their actions and some of the characters end up contracting HIV from each other. I would not recommend the film because it is a depressing day in the life that no youth should have.
Tumblr media
Gummo 1997
I would not call this a good movie and I wouldn't really recommend it. It is another work by Harmony Korine and really details the depravity that can occur with unsupervised youths living in low socio-economic conditions. This movie is just depressing and motivated me to find something to motivate me into action. I got into both psychology and teaching, which has served me well for the past 20 years. It was this film that showed me how low the bar for quality of life could be, and I guess for that I am thankful. However, I still wouldn't recommend it.
Tumblr media
Happiness 1998
This movie I didn't see right away but noticed it at the video store on many occasions. I final watched it when I was about 25 on the recommendation of a friend and one particular storyline greatly disturbed me. It is basically the story of 3 sisters that feel they should be happy and project a face of happiness, yet they are miserable and have horrible lives. One sister in particular is married to a psychiatrist who turns out to be a pedophile that rapes the friends of his young son. At one point rather early on in the movie, this man confesses to his son that he raped the boy's friends and that he would do it again. The son is so confused that he asks his father why he never raped him. It is so disturbing to me because I know the boys that were assaulted will be forever damaged and this boy who was not actually raped will be mentally scarred as well. The fact that there are people in the world that would harm children that way, recognize what they had done, and then know they didn't have the self control to stop themselves from doing it again is horrifying to me.
Tumblr media
Lilya 4-Ever 2002
This film is deeply disturbing and I highly recommend never watching it. I will spoil it for you now so you never have to see it if you don't want. A 16-year-old girl named Lilya lives with her mother. The mom gets a boyfriend and the couple move to America and abandons Lilya with a neglectful aunt. The aunt movies into the old apartment of her sister and Lilya is forced to move out and become a prostitute to make money. A boy comes along and convinces her to move to Sweden to escape her life. When they arrive, this boy sells her to a pimp and she becomes a teenage sex slave. She almost escapes, but is then captured and beaten almost to death. She escapes again and this time commits suicide so she won't be recaptured. This movie is awful and changed my mind about giving every film a chance. I wish I could forget this film, but I can't. Perhaps it is just not for me, but this film presentation is definitely an experience that you won't soon forget.
Tumblr media
The Kite Runner 2007
I read this book in my twenties and saw the film in my thirties and both affected me greatly. A well-to-do boy and his friend are in a kite battle competition and the friend is beaten and raped when he goes to retrieve a fallen kite. The well-to-do boy denies knowing what happened to his friend (he does know) and basically shames and abandons him. This action haunts the well-to-do boy for the rest of his life. How the boy who was raped is basically falling prey to blaming the victim is heartbreaking, and the lifetime of guilt of the other boy is pitiable. Neither boy was the actual attacker yet they both were the ones that suffered.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many other examples of movies along these lines and could be found if you feel like suffering. I can't say that I would recommend them because they are very difficult to watch. Beyond just dealing with the content, it is rare to find child actors who can actually portray somebody who has truly suffered. The mix of bad acting and a depressing plot can make for a terrible movie going experience. The genre of movie involving suffering does exist, though, and it could be enjoyed (?) by some. Just not generally by me.

“Prince William said that war NEW to Europe but normal in Africa and Asia , literally EVERY single war happend in Africa and Asia for the past 200 years even more , was because of his great vile Britain , just sick of those hypocritical scum , and they still want to go to commonwealth tour .” - Submitted by Anonymous
“If Prince William is comfortable saying such racist remarks in public. God knows what vile things he has said in private.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“This is not a one-time offense. William has been casually racist several times and no one has ever held him accountable for it. The ethnically diverse UK and Commonwealth deserve better than a bigoted Head of State, Head of Commonwealth and King. Our last hope lies with George.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“I love that the only time Prince William trends on Twitter is when he’s being a massive racist. Not even his stepford trophy wife can save him from this lol” - Submitted by Anonymous
“William should follow his wife’s lead and just be quiet and look pretty in pictures. The minute the idiot opens his mouth all hell breaks loose because he’s an utter moron.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“William’s comments about Africa and Asia are so ridiculously ignorant that he is not doing himself any favors of dodging those rumors that he's the one in the royal family who asked about Archie's skin color.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Everything William does feels fake and disingenuous, which is probably why he only trends on Twitter when he says something ridiculously racist.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“I am a war child from Bosnia who can never put her foot in her home because I would be murdered. Every July, bones are buried in Srebrenica where boys and men between the ages of 13 and 72 were murdered because they were Muslims. 8372 is the number. Prince Willam talks about the unusual nature of war in Europe. In what world does he live in? What did he learn in school?” - Submitted by djeniiscorner
“Look at William outing himself with a racist comment about nonwhite continents exactly one year to the day of his damage control, narrative spinning photo-op with the black teacher and the multiethnic London school and his infamous "we're very much not a racist family" statement. Racists are fundamentally stupid people who will make stupid mistakes and say stupid stuff, all you have to do is just sit and wait for them to mess up.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Well this explains his "we're very much not a racist family" comment: William's clearly never opened a history textbook in his life if he thinks war "is alien to Europe" so poor man doesn't really know what his family and ancestors have been up to in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Prince William: “We’re not a racist family.” Also Prince William: “Africans and Asians are more violent than us Europeans.”” - Submitted by Anonymous
“This is a pattern and people should just connect the dots at this point. 2017: African population comment suggesting the growth of Africa's population is endangering wildlife. 2018-19: someone was worried about how the skintone of a future family member would reflect on him. 2021:another African population comment suggesting its growth is causing the climate crisis. 2022: "War is alien to Europe" implicitly suggesting it's normal everywhere else which is wrong not only factually but also morally” - Submitted by Anonymous
“This is it. William's words: "War is alien to Europe" prove just how racist he actually is and how he thinks it's normal to see and has no sympathy for nonwhite populations suffering though conflicts (that by the way are a direct consequence of the havoc european royal families like his wreaked in the African continent). William Windsor is trash and he will NEVER be my king: REFERENDUM 4 JAMAICA! And also while we're at it FUCKING REPARATIONS!” - Submitted by Anonymous
“The thing with racists in public roles is that they can try to hide it but us non-whites can spot a racist when they let it slip that "it's normal to see bloodshed and war in Africa and Asia but not in Europe" (has he even ever opened a history book? Doesn't he know that wars make up most of European history?) and paraphrasing "Hope Harry's baby isn't too dark because how would that affect how people view our family" and also "The climate is being ruined by Africans having too many children".” - Submitted by Anonymous
“After William said that whole "it's normal to see bloodshed in Asia and Africa but not in Europe", as an Asian I just want to say William please read a history book in any of your family's multiple libraries. Like what an awful take. You definitely deserve that hairline the universe gave you.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Seems to me Prince William is really baffled that there would be violence in a country that the British Empire did not specifically steal from and commit genocide in.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“With the stupid shit William says maybe it’s a good thing Kate almost never speaks” - Submitted by skrewuranonymity
“Prince William needs to shut up. Every time he opens his privileged mouth he spouts nonsense.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“As a senior working royal and a future king, what Prince William says matters. So saying racist tone deaf comments about Ukraine looks incredibly bad especially given Britain’s history in brutal colonization and I wouldn’t be surprised if more commonwealth countries end up leaving. At his big age he should know better by now, it’s not a high expectation for him to have critical thinking skills. This man is supposed to be king one day it’s not unfair to have high expectations for him.” - Submitted by Anonymous

Oh patron saint of mpreg, tell us, what is the absolute gold standard canon divergent mpreg scenario with Cas and Dean?
so for me the gold standard is for cas to get pregnant due to some kind of magical or metaphysical situation that dean at least does not perceive as sex. bonus points is cas is hesitant about it but refuses to explain why (because he doesn't know how dean will deal with the concept of himself being able to potentially get cas pregnant), so dean is like "we're doing it anyway" and then they do it and then cas doesn't tell anyone that he is pregnant until circumstances force the information out of him. and then dean has to deal with the fact that 1) cas can get pregnant, 2) cas is pregnant, 3) it's his, and he does so pretty poorly.
the rest is under a cut because this post is over 2.5k words long.
my favorite times for this to happen are at the end of season nine, just before dean dies and gets demonized in do you believe in miracles, and at the start of season twelve, just before sam and dean go to jail, because the pining in both those scenarios is delicious but it is so much more powerful if cas is also pregnant, and never even told dean. double points if the truth somehow comes out while they're separated so when dean comes back it's like. yeah cas is pregnant. it's yours. welcome home dean now you have to coddle cas' emotions because he thought he would have to raise your baby alone.
the season twelve scenario is particularly delicious because 1) we can have lucifer slut shaming cas in front of crowley in rock never dies, so crowley knows before dean, and 2) much more importantly, mary is there, and i am obsessed with like. okay. several things.
- the idea of mary getting all baby fever because she misses her boys and this is like. a baby she can take care of because she never got to take care of sam
- the idea of dean working through some of his parentification trauma by coparenting a child with the parent whose place he felt he had to take
- the idea of mary coming in and projecting her insane 1980s gender roles all over cas, suddenly treating him like a woman, stripping him of agency, etc. and like. dean would also do this even though he's not from the eighties, but mary would do it double strength, and they would reinforce each other, it would be a nightmare
- also mary trying to relate to cas on the Travails Of Motherhood etc. and cas being like ?????????? like i cannot stress enough that the weird gender roles she projects onto cas are also standards that she held herself to back when she was a Wife And Mother. while cas is like mary i am not a human woman and also i don't see what "having to look pretty for my man when i'm all baby bloaty" has to do with anything. that's not something i feel like i have to do
oh and 3) could you imagine lily sunder has some regrets if cas was pregnant? unfathomable episode. like ishim and mirabel's reaction but ALSO lily's. and it would fix the number one issue i have with lily sunder, which is that the resolution of the moral dilemma is "well AKSHUALLY the kid was human and not a nephilim so killing it was bad" rather than "it was bad to kill lily's baby, full stop." like ishim's cover up and using the machinery of power to manipulate the truth is very compelling, but the fact that it results in the moral essentially being "it would have been okay if the kid had been a nephilim" suuuuuucks.
basically, there's a reason i have two entire mpreg aus set in season twelve.
and then the delicious part in the season nine version is like. one, dean is away for much longer and he could be anywhere. also he's a demon and he's cheating on cas with crowley. and then even when cas gets him back he's still cursed with the mark, so we can get all weepy over that. you know. i'm the one who's going to have to watch you murder the world and i'm eight months pregnant. etc etc.
but the other thing that's juicy about this version is that cas is still semi-involved with the other angels at this point, like he's roadtripping around with hannah and they're trying to get heaven under control, so carrying a nephil is going to really affect those relationships. so he's going to be probably disliked by the other angels, and there are MANY opportunities for slut-shaming, but at the same time, the other "outcast" type angels might respect him for violating heaven's dictates.
and then of course there's his grace vampirism victorian wasting disease. in canon he's perfectly happy to let himself die, but if he were having dean's baby he would absolutely not do that, that's dean's baby he's endangering there. so of course there's the terrible guilt of having to kill other angels so he can live, plus potentially preparing to die shortly after childbirth so he doesn't have to keep killing. delicious.
and on top of all this cas can get slutshamed by metatron in, depending on when exactly he gets knocked up, meta fiction, stairway to heaven, and do you believe in miracles. plus stairway to heaven would be insane like all the angels would know that cas is pregnant. they would see it in his grace. like cas' angel army would just. know that he was pregnant with a nephil, and have to accept that because he's their leader. in love with humanity indeed.
i'm trying to think of other good times for this drama with cas getting secretly pregnant through a nonsexual interaction to take place. it would be great in season six. like: he's doing a blasphemy with his body but at the same time he's this big important rebel leader so they can't say shit about him, and also he's pregnant while fighting these big important battles (fun and sexy), AND this is like, hot on the heels of the realization that something about his feelings for dean is untoward, expands beyond the bounds of ordinary friendship and camaraderie. like he realizes that, and maybe even that he has sexual feelings for dean, and then he gets immediately knocked up. stunning.
it would ALSO be extremely fun for it to be some kind of... i don't know, magical longer gestation times, whatever, but for cas to have gotten pregnant sometime in s5 and only realized during the Year Of Lisa. LOVE to watch a man rake leaves while both metaphorically carrying the taint of taboo sexual feelings for him and literally carrying his child.
but the thing about season six is, first of all, cas isn't really... envisioning a future with dean. not the way he does in the later seasons. like does he fantasize about a future with dean? yes. like. he really did watch that motherfucker rake leaves. but it's only fantasy. he expected to never speak to dean again after swan song until dean prayed to him in the third man. he's obsessed with dean, but it's distant. remote.
like, we talk about cas babytrapping dean in the later seasons with jack, and he absolutely does, and he would do it even more if dean got him literally pregnant, but that babytrap is about... how do i put this. it's about winning dean's affection. late seasons cas knows that he's going to die by dean's side. the difference that babytrapping dean makes is that maybe it will get dean to be nice to him in the mean time, instead of discarding him like so much toilet paper.
but season six cas doesn't think of it like that. if he were gonna babytrap dean, it would be in the more traditional sense of forcing dean to stay with him in order to raise their child together. and he would never do that. he wants dean to have a happy future, which in his mind does not include him. like, compare here "he's retired and he's to stay that way" in the man who would be king, where cas assumes that dean is happy without him and expects him to live out his days peacefully without ever seeing him again, to "i'm the one who's going to have to watch you murder the world" in the prisoner, where cas assumes that he will be by dean's side for centuries.
but anyway, the other, much more important problem with season six is that cas has a war to fight. like, in the later seasons, cas really has nothing. even when he's on tenuous good terms with the angels, he doesn't really have a home with them. the winchesters are his family, and he'd give up anything for them. he has nothing in his life. he's at rock bottom, and this becomes truer the further along you go. late seasons cas has nothing he would prioritize over serving the winchesters, and he would be happy dropping anything he was involved in to have and raise dean's baby. parenting would give him a purpose that he no longer has, because everything else has been stripped from him.
but in season six cas has a life outside of them. like yes, he has a war to fight, but he also has a place in heaven, with the other angels. he belongs somewhere, he has solid connections to the outside world. even if he didn't have a war to fight, i don't know how excited he would be to have and raise a baby (even dean's baby) because he simply has other things he could be doing. he's involved in the world beyond the winchesters.
like, the reason cas wants to be a parent is that he is totally alone and totally purposeless. having a child gives him both a reason for being and someone who will always love him and who he can care for. if he doesn't have that hole in his life he might not be so eager to fill it with a baby.
for all these reasons, this plotline really doesn't work in season six, because you simply cannot justify cas not getting an abortion, unless you do something nasty like make angel abortion impossible, which i don't love.
you COULD somehow put the impregnation just at the end of season six, maybe just before the man who would be king, such that cas doesn't realize he's pregnant until he's already godstiel. you guys are unfortunately very aware of how obsessed i am with pregnant godstiel.
actually, @jeanne-de-valois has a concept of like. a single, madness fueled midnight hookup immediately pre-tmwwbk (or maybe even during, but prior to the superman mistake), where cas is simultaneously so stressed from being stretched so thin from the war and the lying and the shady dealings, and so high on being The Big Man In Heaven, that he's bold and out of his mind enough to actually come onto dean, like he just appears one night in dean's bedroom and is like, fuck me, and dean is like 👁👄👁 okay. so they have one single adrenaline and madness fueled hookup, and then everything immediately goes to shit.
and i think that's a great place for cas to get pregnant, and then he doesn't realize until he's become god, or maybe he does and he's just like "i'll deal with it later," either way godstiel is like oh? i carry dean's heir inside me? i will have dean's baby. i will have dean's baby it is my right and also my boon to him and also a symbol of my great and magnanimous love for humanity. and also maybe i will put giant paintings of myself pregnant with his child up in churches. what about that. which would be fun. don't know when he would give birth though. actually it would be insane if he gave birth as emmanuel and was just like. raising dean's nephil when dean found him again. nuts. but it just doesn't really have the same flavor as late seasons mpreg. doesn't compel me nearly as much. like the symbolism of godstiel being pregnant with dean's child is fun and sexy but them actually raising the kid afterwards doesn't compel me nearly as much, so it's better to leave literal mpreg to the later seasons and let godstiel mpreg reside in symbolism and fantasy.
or maybe the fetus gets stolen by the leviathans when cas walks into the lake and dean has to battle his leviathanated nephil daughter as the main villain of s7. like she's dick roman's secret weapon. i think that would be fun, actually. kind of an emma situation but drawn out over the whole season. and he thinks cas is dead for most of it so she's all he's got left of cas and a mess cas left for him to clean up. big sexy.
and as a bonus, i will also tell you the best time, imo, for dean to get pregnant: near the end of season eight. possibly a single, tragic farewell fuck in sacrifice when cas is planning to lock himself away in heaven and they're never gonna see each other again. and this impregnates dean with cas' nephil.
but then cas is human. and he can't do anything about it. like generally if they managed to get dean pregnant somehow, cas would immediately talk him into an abortion (which wouldn't be too hard; dean's natural white midwestern man who doesn't vote aversion to abortion would be at war with the horror of being pregnant, and the horror would win), or might not even inform dean that he's pregnant, and just quietly end the pregnancy without dean's knowledge, because cas would never put dean through that. but if cas is human, he can't do that. and furthermore, that nephil is the last evidence of his angelic nature that persists. it's the last of what he used to be, the last of his grace. and there's something absolutely delectable about that.
then of course dean would have to leave the bunker if he was pregnant with a nephil, because angels would be after him, and he wouldn't want to lead them to gadreel, so i am imagining dean discovering that he's pregnant and then showing up in a panic at the gas n sip like "actually cas i'm also out of the bunker will you go on the run with me?" and then they go on the run and have to live in motels again and cas gets to live with take care of dean who is pregnant with his child which is essentially his dream, and he doesn't have to feel guilty because he's no longer capable of giving dean an abortion so he doesn't feel obligated to get him to have one. ideally cas gets re-angeled just in time to give dean an angelic c-section. or maybe they rely on a normal human c-section in a hospital and cas stays human and they are two humans raising their nephil, which is also fun to me.
