I adore your Archivists and the lore you make for them and their personalities and relationships between each other and Collector! You don't paint them as Good but misunderstood or cartoonishly evil.
They are god-like entities and their morality system and values are way to different for mortals to easily relate and understand. And good luck for them to not grow up with an issue or two and then proceed to raise a young collector with no problems =3
Also a question if you don't mind👉👈(sorry if you already answered it, my memory is bad TT) So all five of them are collectors(and they are the only ones of their kind), the siblings have a different name for their group why? And our Collector's name is the same as species or will he have something his own later like others when he is older?
The empty, uncaring void filled with extinction and destruction is not a place where kids grow happily without any lasting issues and from a mortal point of view - a weird perception of good but they are trying
Tumblr media
I don't think anyone has asked about this one yet! Their names are related to their identity and that connects to their history; they don't really use individual ones, but rather what describes who they are.
I've put the reasoning and my stab at the lore under the cut since I thought it might be a bit long and not everyone into it (and I just figured out how to add the read more cut so im gonna use it)
They are not the only ones in existence; they are just in this part of the galaxy we see. In the beginning, when the universe wasn't as expanded, the Children of the Stars were closer to each other, exploring the young galaxy together and living among other living creatures - mortals.
After the extinction event that left the children alone on the barren world, they decided not to let it ever happen again. They began collecting life from the surroundings and spread it to uninhabited systems, later establishing the first archive to help with it. Thats when they started call each others collectors, and after creating archive those collectors connected to it that cared for and used it were archivists. It didn't go fantastic, they were young figuring things out on the way, the lessons they learned got contained in the Guidebook everyone took. At this point, they also realized that everything they were doing was not enough. The galaxy was too vast, with too many worlds facing their ends too far apart. They separated making own archives, now too far away to ever really meet and find each other.
On how it realates to names. Collie is a kid, they are a collector so The Collector, they live around the archive but it's not their responsibility at this point -it's The Archivists. As Collector grows up and becomes an Archivist they can take a specific set of tasks and be associated with them taking on a title. However, this also means that titles can change.
The first sibling in the story, after establishing their archive, was just named The Archivist. When another collector grew up to help, they divided roles, with Curator handling organization inside the archive and Naturalist handling "ground work". Later, the tasks of the Naturalists were divided, now becoming Anatomist and dealing with the living environment and Architects handling the unliving aspects . Following Archivist became The Wayfarer, responsible for keeping track of every collected place and noting any changes they undergo. They scout out planets that are to be added to the archive.
I'm not certain what Collie would want to do in the future. I think they might be inclined towards tasks related to being around mortals as they are pretty social, so they could probably take on some responsibilities from Anatomist and Wayfarer. But, I can't say for sure what title they might take
Tumblr media
And here's a fun little aspect: the universe didn't stop expanding. The places their archive reaches keep getting further away and more advanced systems, so planets that are more than basic fauna and flora are more prone to collapsing. At some point, probably when Collie is an Archivist, the archive might have to split, and the names will shift again

With You | 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Rúben Dias x Reader
Summary: You're Bernardo Silva's sister and you and Rúben have a crush on each other. After moving to Manchester, you and him realise that some things in the past were not what it seemed.
Word count: 2099
Author’s note: English isn’t my first language.
You can read part 2 here
And I know you said that we're not talkin' But I miss you, I'm sorry
It was really happening. The excitement was almost too much to bear. You were moving to Manchester after spending your entire life surrounded by your family and friends in Portugal in the same city you grew up in.
When your brother, Bernardo, told you that his friend was starting a business and needed an architect, you immediately agreed without hesitation.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness at the thought of leaving it all behind, but at the same time, the anticipation of starting a new life in a new country was almost too much to contain. You imagined yourself walking the streets of Manchester, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling city, and meeting new people.
You knew you deserved more. You craved new experiences, challenges, and opportunities that your current situation couldn't provide. The journey ahead would be filled with highs and lows, but you were ready to face them head-on.
"Wait.. you're serious?" You could see his shocked expression over Facetime.
"Yes." You smiled. Even Ines, who was in the background taking something from the fridge, stopped to listen in on your conversation. "Why do you guys look so surprised? You knew I wanted to live abroad."
"You've been saying that since you were little! Do you know how many job offers I have given you? How long have I been trying to convince you to move here?"
You let out a sigh. "I don't remember."
"Me neither! But I know how many you rejected: all of them." He was right. He had tried to help you multiple times, but you never dared to actually do it. To leave your parents and the life you knew behind. "And I mean ALL of them."
"So why did you keep asking?"
"Because I'm your big brother. I want the best for you." He said in frustration and looked down. "And I wouldn't mind having you closer." He mumbled, making you smile.
A week later you were at the airport. You saw Ines coming towards you and her radiant smile lit up her face when she caught sight of you. You hugged and greeted each other and made your way together to Etihad Campus where you were going to surprise your brother.
Bernardo had been excited since the day he hung up the phone. He still couldn't believe you were really moving to Manchester, that he'd see his little sister every day like he used to when he was younger.
"What's going on with you? You're more cheerful than usual." Haaland asked him as he passed him the ball at practice. "Are you having twins or something?"
Bernardo laughed. "No, we're not having twins. It's my sister."
Haaland looked at him in surprise. "She's having twins?"
"NO!" They got back to the end of the line where Stones and Cancelo were waiting. "No one is having twins. She's moving here."
"Y/n's moving here?" Cancelo knew you from a long time ago, just like Rúben and all the other players in Manchester that played in the Portuguese national team. Bernardo looked like a little kid in a toy shop and nodded. "That's incredible! Have you finally convinced her?"
"Yes. I still can't believe it's happening. I thought she was messing with me."
"What does she do? Is she looking for a job, has she been transferred?"
As Bernardo began to elaborate, Stones chose to survey the field in search of Rúben. Did the defender know? No, he looks too calm and relaxed to know that his mate's sister, his crush, is moving to the same city as him. Stones thought to himself as he saw him talking to Jack and the coach.
After the training was over, Stones hurried over to Rúben. He casually put his arm around Rúben's neck, securing his attention.
"Have you heard the news?"
"What news?" Oh, his world was about to tremble!
"Guess what, Bern--"
Suddenly they were interrupted by Bernardo, who approached them with an abrupt slap on Rúben's stomach. Not expecting it, Rúben looked to his left to see Bernardo's excited expression. "She's here. My sister's here." Bernardo quickly ran off, leaving Rúben and Stones behind.
The news hit Rúben like a ton of bricks. Had he heard right? "W-what?" He stammered, his voice barely above a whisper, as he tried to process the information
"She's moving to Manchester, pal!" Stones, noticing his friend's distress, reached out and gently patted Rúben on the back. "She's moving here." Stones left, leaving Rúben behind with his heart pounding with anxiety.
"Merda!" He muttered. (Shit!)
When he got back to the dressing room after a very slow walk, stopping a lot of times, afraid you would appear in front of him, Bernardo was already out of the shower.
Stones cast a glance in his direction and let out a light-hearted chuckle. Jack on the other hand made his appearance known to the rest of the group.
"What's wrong with you? It seems like you saw a ghost. Let's go, mate! Wake up." All eyes were on him as he entered the room. Rúben remained silent and took a seat on his bench. However, Jack's focus shifted to Bernardo, who was already dressed with wet hair and grabbed his bag. Rúben was soon forgotten. "Oh, I want to meet the famous Silva sister."
Bernardo pointed his finger at him. "Don't!"
With a laugh, Jack put his hands up in a defensive gesture. "Mate, I have a girlfriend!"
Bernardo furrowed his eyebrows. "Stay away from my sister, Grealish!"
"Uhhh, Bernardinho! The big brother has claws." Ederson said, making everyone laugh.
"All of you. Stay away from her. I don't care if you're married, dating or single, she's my sister and I don't trust any of you around her."
Rúben screamed in his head. He reached for the water bottle beside him and drank it down in one go. If only your brother knew the thought he has about you... more like memories - he'd kill him.
It all happened in the UEFA Nations League when Portugal won in 2019. Bernardo had introduced the two of you a few years earlier and the sexual tension was always there. That night, the celebration took a different turn for you and Rúben.
Rúben took another sip of his beer. He couldn't remember how many he had drunk, but that was the last thing on his mind. He was more interested in you, who was across the room talking to Patrício and his wife.
He couldn't deny that you were a very - but a very - beautiful woman. With eyes that captivate everyone and a smile to die for. But deep in his head he still heard Bernardo's words from the day he had introduced you.
"Rúben, don't try anything with my sister. She's off limits. I trust you, but please, don't do it."
Coming from a small guy like your brother, it wasn't that scary, at least not for Rúben. However, his expression and the tone in which he spoke stayed with him.
Everyone knew that Rúben couldn't control himself very well when it came to alcohol, and today all he could think about was you and how much he wanted to kiss you and hold you. So without knowing what he was doing, he followed you as you left the room.
Outside he saw you walking towards the car park but soon lost you as you disappeared behind the national team bus.
He ran to catch you but didn't need to because when he got around the bus, he saw you leaning against it waiting for him.
"Are you following me, Dias?" Rúben just shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. "So, what are you doing here?" You took a step towards him. "You should be celebrating."
He placed his palm on the bus, propping up his frame. "Yes, I should. I have to go back ins--"
"Unless you want to celebrate with me!" Ruben's face flushed red. He was too cute and shy for a guy who looked like a Greek god.
You had a few beers too, but you still knew what you were doing. Alcohol only helped you achieve what you had wanted for a few years.
"W-what?" You had got closer than you had ever been to each other and that was messing with his concentration.
Despite your brother's warning to steer clear of his friends, you found yourself drawn to Rúben. Even more when you tried to distance yourself. "Don't you want to celebrate with me?" He swallowed the lump in his throat and looked at your lips.
"I-- we shouldn't!" You shouldn't but it was all he wanted. You grabbed his hand and pulled him inside the empty bus.
You pushed him down on the seat at the back of the bus, as you straddle his lap. His hands automatically on your thighs underneath your dress. Eyes full of lust. You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him deeply. Rúben was quick to kiss you back passionately, his hand gently going up and down your thighs.
"I wanted to do this since the day we met." He muttered when you started kissing his neck. You smiled and bit his ear.
"That makes two of us." You grabbed the hem of his shirt and slowly pulled it off his body and over his head. Your hands tracing his toned abs.
"Are you sure?" Rúben asked as he hooked his fingers on your panties inside your dress. When you said yes, you got up from his lap and he slowly pulled your panties down your legs, stuffing them inside his pocket. He pulled you back in, but to his surprise, you got down on your knees. "Fuck! Your brother's going to kill me."
"What he doesn't know, won't kill him."
After the longest shower he had taken, Rúben got dressed and left the dressing room. As he stepped outside, he was taken aback to see Stones waiting for him, engrossed in his phone and seemingly lost in thought.
"Had a good shower, princess?" He mocked him.
Rúben closed the door behind him and put his bag over his shoulder. "What are you still doing here?"
"Waiting for you! We have dinner with Ederson and Kyle, remember?" Rúben let out a sigh. "Come on! It will distract you from Bernando's sister."
Outside the Etihad Campus, it all went down when they heard Bernardo calling their names.
"Rúben! John!"
When both players looked at the source of the voice, Rúben's heart started beating so fast that he could swear it would jump out of his chest. There you were!
"Bloody hell, is that her?" Stones whispered. Rúben was so hypnotized that he didn't even hear his friend's question. "By your puppy eyes, I guess it is."
As he laid eyes on you, he was struck by your breathtaking beauty and the familiar brightness in your eyes. As you smiled, he couldn't help but feel a rush of warmth spread through him, reminding him of all the moments you had shared. Your smile, so infectious and genuine, had always been one of his favourite things about you. It always lit up your face and radiated pure joy, making everything else around you seem to fade away.
You haven't changed a little. You were not very active on social media, and unfortunately for Rúben, you liked to share more of your work than yourself. On the other hand, Rúben liked to show his face, and everything else, but no photo made him justice.
You never talked about that night. You still remembered how soft his lips were and how perfectly they felt against yours. How his warm hands ran through your body and how good he made you feel. For you it was not just sex and you thought he had understood that.
"Y/a, where are you going? Let's go." Bernardo called out when you ran off.
"I have to do something. Just give me a minute." You ran inside.
You knew that Rúben hadn't left. You wanted to tell him that what had happened on the bus was not just a drunken mistake. You wanted him to know that you really cared for him, even if your brother would disapprove.
However, as you found him, your heart sank. Leaning against the wall was Rúben with a blonde woman's tongue down his throat. The noise around you faded into the background as you stood there, alone and heartbroken.
Perhaps your brother was right: footballers were no right piece in your puzzle.

LISTEN. im not a big fan of love triangles, mostly because they're usually pointless or there to stir up unnecessary drama but i will admit i genuinely liked the rachel-percy-annabeth love triangle.
but i personally think the rachel-annabeth represented something deeper than just two girls who like the main character. rachel and annabeth both symbolised two different aspects of percy's life. while annabeth represented his demigod life and godly heritage, rachel represented his mortal upbringing. percy is a bridge between these two worlds, while he is a demigod and it'll forever be a part of him, he also grew up as a mortal child and being a mortal gives him a sense of normalcy, and choosing one over the other is percy choosing which life he chose to identity himself with.
annabeth chase links him to his godly heritage
percy met annabeth and the whole chb when he was struggling as a mortal kid, he felt like an outcast in school, his stepdad was a shitty man, and then ultimately he lost his mom. his experience in the mortal world was not good at all. in fact the only thing which happened to him that time was becoming grover's friend, who once again, was a part of the demigod life.
finding chb was a blessing to him. he met kids who are just like him. he made friends who genuinely care for him. he found the love of his life there. he found a way to get rid of smelly gabe and get his mother back. he met his dad. the start of percy and sally's better life started after percy learned his demigod heritage. it gave him a second place to call home.
and annabeth was a part of all of it. annabeth was a demigod. she associates herself with the demigod world. she is proud of it. she was one of percy's first friends. she was also one of the major reasons why chb felt home to percy. she was an important of his whole demigod journey. she fought by his side. they risked their life for each other. they understood and felt home to each other. they were for each other at their lowest points and even happiest points.
“See, Annabeth wants to be an architect when she grows up, so she’s always visiting famous monuments and stuff. She’s weird that way. She’d e-mailed me the picture after spring break, and every once in a while I’d look at it just to remind myself she was real and Camp Half-Blood hadn’t just been my imagination.”
– percy jackson and the sea of monsters
rachel dare reminds him of his mortal upbringing
while chb gave him another home and true friends, being a demigod also had its cons, such as he constantly has to be on guard and watch out for monster attacks. his life is far from normal and stress-free, he rarely gets time to act like a teenager. on top of that, he has to watch his friends die, get betrayed by someone he looked upto and now there's a war coming up. no child deserves to go through that.
percy needed a break and a sense of normalcy, and that normalcy in this case was the life he could lead as a mortal. no monster attacks. no war. which means no stress and no further trauma. he can be a teenager for once. living his life as a normal highschool student is far better than this.
rachel was a mortal, and like percy she grew up as a mortal. she wasn't connected or involved to any of the demigod stuff. she was just percy's mortal friend who helped him when he needed. percy spent his entire summer right before the war with her. away from chb. because she provided him that normalcy at a time of war. she provided him the temporary break he needed.
“We'd spent a lot of time together this summer. I hadn't exactly planned it that way, but the more serious things got at camp, the more I found myself needing to call up Rachel and get away, just for some breathing room. I needed to remind myself that the mortal world was still out there, away from all the monsters using me as their personal punching bag.”
– percy jackson and the last olympian
It's not a coincidence rick used similar words to describe how annabeth and rachel made him feel
percy ending up with annabeth also signifies how he ultimately chose his demigod life.
while rachel provided him a break from all this stress, and he enjoyed her company, his feelings and connection with annabeth was too deep for him to suddenly go out with rachel just because he and annabeth had a fight. even if he tried to go out with rachel instead, he wouldn't have been happy with her.
just like how the mortal world could give him a temporary normalcy, he could never truly escape from his demigod life. it will forever be a part of him. even with all its flaws and cons, camp half blood was his home and the only place he feels understood. he can never turn his back on it, even if he tried, he would fail.

I am going mad . . .
When I read Ponniyin Selvan, I imagined Aditha Karikalan to look like this but with expensive clothes and gold jewellery.
Tumblr media
This is a still from the 1991 Malayalam movie Perumthachan. He 👆🏽played Kannan, the son of Raman Perumthachan who was probably the Chief Architect of Tanjai Temple. The master carpenter (Perumthachan) is a legendary figure in Kerala and many temples and other structures are attributed to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
See, we Malayalis always had trendy hairstyles.
Kannan is a great craftsman and a rebel who questions the existing norms and social hierarchy. He is also involved in an intercaste, inter class love affair to the disapproval of all families.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reverse Nandini-Karikalan situation as he is a carpenter and she is nobility.
Tumblr media
I am a kid, but I am going to lecture you.
Tumblr media
I am sexy and I know it.
Tumblr media
I am feeling feelings and I don't know what to do with them.
Tumblr media
I am a lost cause.
Isn't Kunjikkavu stunning?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kannan's muse and ladylove, Kunjikkavu Thampuratti (Princess) 😍 She was played by Monisha Unni who passed away in 1992. She won the National Award when she was just 16.
But you know what? I always thought that this actor is Sanjay Mitra, who played Rishyashringan in another Malayalam movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know I am dumb, but you really can't blame me. These guys share the same moodboard.
But yesterday I realised that I was wrong. How the hell could this happen? This is Prashanth!!!
youtube
Prashanth was the first Tamil superstar from the 90s. Perumthachan was his second movie and he was just 17 years old in it. 'Top Star' Prashanth grew up into a young man and always had a very suave urban look in his Tamil films. That's why I couldn't recognise him. Unfortunately, his career fizzled out due to some career missteps and the rise of Vijay and Ajith.
youtube
And the most funny thing about this is that Prashanth is the cousin of Vikram who ended up playing Aditha Karikalan.
Tumblr media
I am not joking. Prashanth's father Thiagarajan and Vikram's mother Rajeshwari are siblings. The families aren't on talking terms for some reason. I heard that it is because Rajeshwari had an inter-religious marriage without their permission. Meanwhile, Prashanth had to get his marriage annulled because that lady was married to another man all along.
😮
Was this role always meant to go to someone in this family? Prashanth too was a Mani Ratnam hero, way back in 1993 (Thiruda Thiruda).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I want to check Santosh's family tree and see if he is related to them in any manner.
My sense of reality is shattered. It might take some time to recover from this. How do I deal with this?

Librarygate addition from the time-unrelated side
Tumblr media
Richie's joking. But I'm not.
We know that the Duffers are huge Stephen King fans.
There are three significant library arcs in Stephen King's works which I can remember (add if you can, please): the novella "The Library Policeman" (1990, one of the FOUR HOUR STRIKES (the third) in "FOUR past midnight" collection); and two belong to "It": Mike Hanlon was a librarian, but also Ben Hanscom has a big arc with the Derry Library.
I will start with Ben (he is a part of our love triangle parallel after all). Ben's ties to the Derry Library are shown both in miniseries and in recent movies, but to know the full story you of course need to read the book. I've read it two times and the last one was about 15 years ago, so forgive me for any wrong memories (pun intended).
1.. Ben loved the Derry Library. Not only because he was lonely and it was a place he could spend time. He liked to learn, he had good relationship with the librarian. But most of all he liked the bridge part between the two library buildings (idk how to call it in English, that part joins the children library and the grown'ups one with well-lit warm hall with glass sides and roof, probably?). When Ben grew up, he built a building based on that hall and got an architect award for it. He liked the hall because you could use it to go from one library to another even in the winter and be warm and dry and look at all the cold and snow outside. It is probably a metaphor for that tween period of life King loves so much that most of his kid characters end up being eaten by monsters about 11-12.
Ben had bad things happen to him there as well. I don't really remember the accident with the boy and easter eggs in the book, but Ben was really scared of that photograph and the story of Kitcheners' blow up and killing a hundred of kids. Also when he was staying late helping the librarian one winter night, he saw Pennywise on the ice when Ben was crossing the river by the bridge. Yeah, that same bridge Adrian Mellon was thrown from years after Ben's encounter.
But also Ben wrote that poem about Beverly's hair in the library :)
2.. Mike Hanlon. Mike was a fellow loser to Ben. He was interested in Derry history as a kid and figured out that awful things happen in Derry every 27 years for centuries. He grew up and became a librarian in Derry Library. He was the one with his memories intact and called all the Losers when It came back 27 years later.
3.. Library Policeman. It is a hard story. I've read it when I was a kid myself, maybe 12, 13? Years later I remembered the chill and re-read it. It was still years from now so yeah, I'll do what I can with Wikipedia not helping much.
The protagonist of the novella is Sam. When Sam was a child, he was r*ped in the bushes outside of his hometown library by a man who called himself the Library Policeman who punish children who don't return their books on time. At another place, where grown-up Sam lives, he needs some books from the local library for the first time since his childhood. He accidentaly destroys the books after he uses them and then supernatural stuff start to happen. The entity calling itself the Library Policeman is terrorizing him, and the old librarian who gave him the books is long dead. That woman was not human. It is a monster who is feeding on childrens' fear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam, his friend with whom he falls in love with, and a former lover of the librarian are on the mission to defeat the monster, who wants a NEW HOST to attach itself to, like a parasite. The former lover DIES while helping Sam and his friend, the monster manages to attach itself to the friend's neck and Sam saves her by pulling it off of HER NECK and throwing it under the wheels of upcoming train where it is smashed out of existence. It is a heartbreaking moment: he makes her to look forward and recite a poem or count, I don't remember, while standing behind her he lifts her hair and sees this thing on her neck (which causes some personality changes in her or just a headache I don't remember sorry), and he takes it off when the train is almost there and throws... This monster was compared to a spider too (the flesh form of It was a spider). I like the idea that it is a soteria in Will's neck, but I'm afraid it can be a part of the Mind Flayer.
So we have Hopper and Joyce go into the Upside Down through the Lab gate to find Will. S01 was heavily influenced by Alien and the Duffers don't just do an homage, they use easter eggs and parallels in the plot.
The first thing Hopper finds in the UD (the first thing Ben Hanscom had found in the sewers… was an orange Pennywise pom-pom when he was a child and red Audra Denbrough's purse as an adult) is a busted-out-of egg which is of course an egg a facehugger is grown in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who was born from that egg in the Stranger Things is unclear. Could be a demogorgon. Dragons lay eggs btw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Joyce and Hopper inspect the Castle Byers remnants, go to Byers' house where amazed Jonathan recognizes his mother in the lights and Joyce hear him calling her gently. It is irrelevant here but fascinating. Then they follow the trace of blood into the Hawkins Public Library.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is some kind of lair. It is similar to both the egg lair in the Alien and in the Aliens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The difference is that in Aliens Momma is still around. Also we have cocooned corpses in the Aliens too:
Tumblr media
Stranger things s01e08:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's all of course from the Aliens and It: Hopper and Joyce parallel the couple from Aliens who found the ship with the eggs, the death of the father points to Hopper's future death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joyce finds Will like Ripley finds Newt in the lair, cocooned:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bill Denbrough finds his wife Audra in the lair, cocooned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But whose lair is it?!
Vecna had his lair in his old house, where he was being charged in a dock like an electronic toy...
Flesh form of It (the Spider) layed eggs in its lair which Losers destroyed (sadly, not on screen in both the miniseries and the movies) by stepping on them.
Alien Queen layed eggs in its lair which Ripley destroyed (by fire!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who lays those eggs (we saw one) in the UD? Whose lair is in the library???
And just what else I have on the place: Will was FOUND in the library on Nov 12th, but the sign says (Vote here) Nov. 6th when he was taken walked willingly disappeared. So can library be a part of his dissapearance too? Or even in the first place.
Dragons steal princesses and keep them in their lairs too...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King's prototype of It was a troll from a fairytale, who lives under the bridge and eats children. Do trolls eat princesses? I'm not that familiar with foreign folklore...
And the last but not least:
Team Tigers vs team Falcons:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the shots of the library with pigeons and then pigeons were followed by shots of Joyce in her car arriving at Melvalds s01e02)
Many noticed the stalker shots and Vecna's parallels to birds.
Birds were absolutely the spies in the Duma Key by Stephen King.

I have a headcanon that all the kids in camp half blood and Jupiter have something about themselves besides the add, adhd, dyslexia.
They all have some kind of condition.
Like they don’t have bridges in their feet or they are double jointed in weird places.
The all have either straight or hooked noses because I love those noses and they deserve more love.
Just children of Aphrodite who don’t have stereotypical beauty features like big noses or moles.
Also like Hermes kids being super fast but not agile.
They run around camp a lot and occasionally you will just hear a THUD and some poor Hermes kid walking to Will because they ran face first into a wall and hit their nose.
They have little jokes and slang that is funny to THEM but if they go back to school and try and tell the same joke or use the slang they will just get silence.
A lot of them grow a bunch of body hair and some of them don’t want to spend the time shaving every other day.
The kids that have experienced the modern world and have played sims will talk sim language to eachother in front of kids who have been at camp their whole lives and claim they are bilingual when asked about it.
A lot of kids of Apollo have vitiligo and when Apollo becomes Lester he affectionately calls them “little sunspots”.
Hecate kids constantly talk trash about Harry Potter and how inaccurate the magic is.
If the kids that go home after summer have a birthday during the school year Chiron will schedule a birthday for them during summer so they can celebrate at camp.
There was a time where the gods were getting sent hate mail directed towards “you know who you are” and it took them a while to realize it was Sally Jackson but they couldn’t do anything about it because they didn’t want to anger Percy.
Percy has a lazy eye specifically the kind that turns his eye in a little.
A lot of the campers had baby faces and the campers that grew out of the baby face absolutely HATE old pictures of them.
Annabeth has a big nose that’s a little crooked from getting punched during capture the flag.
Clarisse has a soft spot for Aphrodite and Hephaestus kids after what happened to Charlie and Silena.
Percy also has a little soft spot for Hephaestus kids.
Annabeth has a soft spot for Hermes kids.
Annabeth will 100% be disappointed if some Hermes kids did something but if someone came up to her and asked “did you see some Hermes kids run by with a bunch of paint” she would say no even though she did.
Leo eats tomatoes like apples and everyone cringes at it.
Harley went through a biting phase and most conversations would go like this:
Camper: aw! He’s kissing your cheek!
Victim, who is holding Harley: he’s so cute!
Leo, frantically trying to catch up: NO HE’S NOT!
Victim, who just got bit on the cheek by Harley: aaaaaAaaAAaAAAAAHHHHH!!
Based on a a true story of what my cousin did to me when I was a baby :)
Percy sounds like a dying whale when he sings but Annabeth sounds pretty good.
Annabeth and Percy have a mini army of kids that are all just clones of Annabeth and Percy loves it.
Percy would change is name to Chase-Jackson or Jackson-Chase but mainly go by Mr. Chase so when they go to fancy events and people go up to Percy like “oh Mr. Chase your architect work is wonderful!” He can just say “sorry you mean my WIFE!”.
And Annabeth uses the signature “Chase” just so they can do that.
Percy had massive hands even as a kid.
So did Leo.
These two are like big foot but for hands.
When walking Percy, Annabeth, and Grover will hold onto eachother in some way.
If Annabeth constantly spews architect facts then Percy constantly spews ocean animal facts.
Leo relates to Beastboy from Teen Titans on a personal level.
Apollo’s three canon kids once got into an argument because “you couldn’t dream of doing what I do!” So Will tried music, Austin tried archery, and Kayla tried medicine.
It was a nightmare.
Percy’s favorite movie as a kid was Cheaper by the Dozen and he always dreamed of having a bunch of siblings so when he got to camp and saw that all the other cabins had a bunch of kids he was so excited and it lasted three seconds before realizing he was the only Poseidon kid until Tyson came along.
Leo has had a crush on everyone in the Argo II crew and the crushes lasted from 3 days to several months.
Demeter kids are jealous that Percy can talk to pegasi and will try to whisper to the pegasi but they don’t answer.
Also Piper giving of pick me vibes is not it.
Instead I believe she goes out of her way to support her more feminine siblings even if it’s not her thing.
Piper and Jason also hated Leo’s relationship with Calypso.
Piper also fought Calypso after she insulted Leo and Piper won.

I'm definitely just yelling into the void but I'm sharing my Luke Castellan playlist (again) and analyzing some of my songs choices because I have. brain worms. about these books. so character study with music
I have like 8+ hours of song in this playlist bc I've been adding to it for years so here are some highlights I'm thinking about rn
1. would've could've should've - Taylor Swift
but like. it's for him and Kronos you know. "And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil. At nineteen" literally dancing with the devil at 19. Kronos has been manipulating Luke since he was 17, taking his anger at the gods and twisting it into something that Kronos could use and abuse. And I think (imo) that even before TLO when Luke sacrifices himself he starts to regret joining Kronos but is so far in it now he can't turn back. Like he was a kid, he was seventeen. And even after that he's still young. He dies at 23/24, I'm 23 right now and I can't imagine getting literally possessed and having to kill yourself bc you got manipulated at a young age and made terrible choices. also "If you never touched me, I would’ve. Gone along with the righteous" if Kronos didn't reach out to him and one of his worst moments this wouldn't have happened. Yes Luke was angry and vengeful and burning with rage for the gods but he wouldn't have gotten that far without Kronos
2. sanity - paramore
him and his descent/fall from grace, but also his relationship with Hermes and the rest of the gods. "If I fall on my knees, I hear you laughing. If I call out your name, you don't come" taking this for his relationship with the gods/Hermes: the first line is like, when he fails his quest and has to go confront them and feels like they're looking at him with pity. And they gave him a nothing quest too, it was something that had already been done by Heracles, he's being given this quest just for the sake of quest-giving, it's nothing. And then he fails, and feels like he's being mocked, mocked by the people he just wants to notice him. And then the second line shows how absent the gods are in their children's lives. When Luke confronts Hermes at 14/15 when on the run he gets mad because he would pray and call for Hermes to help him during his mom's episodes. He was a little boy calling out for help, for the something the gods caused. And it was crickets. Hermes never came, never showed, never helped him. He was just left there alone. And then also at camp, Luke was counselor of the Hermes cabin, where all the unclaimed children are shoved, to be forgotten about by the gods. "No one home, but the void is loud.Echoes around my empty house... This must be the void they always talk about" honestly I see this when he's possessed by Kronos. Like he has another being inside him, taking over, piloting his body over him. His consciousness was obviously still there bc Annabeth and Percy were able to help him break free and stop Kronos. So what was he doing, could he feel anything? Could he feel everything and not be able to do anything? It must have been terrifying, and again he would've only been like maybe 22? when Kronos possessed him
3. sidewalk chalk - Annalise Emerick
this one for me is like quintessential my feeling about Luke, Thalia, and Annabeth. In the song she sings about a childhood friend she no longer talks too but thinks about often thinks about and wishes well. I see this mostly with like Annabeth. "I'm living my dreams right now The ones we used to talk about" She grew up with him, and is now going to continue growing up without him. She probably blabbed about her dreams of being an architect the way that kids always do, and now she's the architect of Olympus and is doing really well for herself. And probably thinks back to when she was a kid with Luke and Thalia.
4. I don't like my mind - mitski
I think that his anger at the gods was driving him mad, but Kronos' influence really pushed over the edge. Also going back to before, his living in his body that another being has control over, "Inside the walls of my skull waiting for its turn to talk". Ethan tells Percy that he thinks Luke is still in there, fighting back, trying to regain control over his body and his mind. And since he definitely was, he was probably in there spiraling about how he got to that point and all that he'd done and who'd hr become. Because once Annabeth helps him break through he is obviously regretful and wants to atone. "so please don’t take, Take this job from me" job/life. but also, him working for Kronos at that point was all he had. Literally. His job for Kronos was his lite He had given everything up at that point, and Kronos would routinely threaten Luke if/when he fails. Punishing Luke with nightmares and then forcing Luke to take him as a host bc he failed during the Atlas plan.
rapid fire songs I put in the playlist that I think about a lot:
eat your young - Hozier (obviously. I mean the gods ya know)
day after tomorrow - Phoebe bridgers (he's a soldier)
save me - Noah kahan (even after everything he's done Annabeth still tries to save him)
used to be young - Miley Cyrus (he was seventeen)
bad believer - st. Vincent (he's blasphemous what can I say)

Being the kento Nanamin simp I am here's a part 2 of headcanons
Enjoy ❤️
Continued from previous part :
12. He likes jazz. Strangely enough knows how to play saxophone. Loves romantic music too. Loves Classical music especially Cello has a soft corner in his heart. But jazz is his all the time mood freashner. He puts on light jazz or songs that feel jazzy enough when he cooks. ( a bit cliche but it feels right)
13. Even though he likes expensive things, but our man has got taste, which is irrespective and irrelevant of the price tag. He would absolutely buy cheap things if he finds them to be good quality products with elegant style. Which brings me to the next point.
14. He doesn't waste money. Kento is a very mathematical and logical person, he keeps track of all his financial transactions however minor they might be. He researches a lot before buying something expensive. (most probably researched a lot before he bought his watch). Our jjk finance guy knows his finances.
15. He once read "No longer Human" during his emo phase and was scared to death because he related too much to the protagonist. However stern and logical Nanamin looks he's a softie who hates watching movies belonging to genres like psychological horror, or just plain horror. (he hates horror movies because either it annoys him or irks him too much, the only genre that actually scared the life out of him psychological horror)
16. Let's talk about bread. Nanamin lives off bread. Period. Kento loves food from different cuisines but bread is a staple for him. Since he was 3 he took bread bento to school most of the days. His mom knows a million different ways to make sandwiches and hence Kento is our bread baking, bread loving average handsome office guy who is also a jujustsu sorcerer.
17. He has reading glasses. Even though his eyesight is perfect sometimes he needs reading glasses to focus on the book he is reading. Also he really likes the way he looks so mature and serious in those glasses.
18. He journals. He writes about the tiniest of the moments that made him believe in humanity a bit. He started journaling after Yu died. He had spiralled into a horrible bout of depression when he did take some overpriced therapy sessions that didn't really help him. Sometime around this time his Dad gave him his grandmother's handmade journals (which were blank because she had especially made those for Kento before she passed away. Kento and his grandma were pretty close). He used these journals to write down one thing that reminded him of Yu. And slowly he grew around the grief. Yes, he did write about the cute Baker girl. Also he did take a quick look at her name on her name pin so that he can write her name when he wrote in his journal.
Ps : this is just a headcanon so I'm pretty much making a lot of stuff up that feels right based on Nanamin's character.
19. He also has newer group photo of the Tokyo jujustsu tech kids (Yuji , Nobara, Maki, Toge , Megumi, Yuta, Panda) sitting on the fireplace mantle beside his old group photo, because he absolutely loves these kids. He would do anything to save their lives and childhood.
20. He wanted to be an Architect when he was younger. He loved to look at magnificent buildings and tried to make miniatures of those buildings with paper or cardboard. His maternal grandfather had bought him a proper miniature set after he had shown him that he had tried to build the Colosseum with cardboard. He was 8 years old.
21. Owns a guitar. Doesn't know how to play. Has the same problem as all bibliophiles have. Buys too many books. Doesn't have time to read. Has a descent fashion sense. Most probably has a suit and tie collection along with shoe collection because his high end work kinda demanded it. He loves art although there are some things he doesn't understand he is curious but won't show it.
22. Nanamin is a pretty heavy sleeper when he is on his own. Given how stressed he is with his work all the time his home is a safe space for him. His apartment is spelled or rather veiled to ward off most cursed spirits (every jujustsu sorcerer gets this kind of protection).(Lowkey the apartment is blessed). Hence he can sleep without thinking about his own protection but if he has to sleep the night along with some one in the house he sleeps lighter.
Bonus : 23. Kento actually likes shopping. He might not readily accept the fact and most probably would deny it for the rest of his life but this man loves shopping and researching before he goes shopping. Kento is a very domestic and independent person hence shopping has become a necessity for him which he has gown to enjoy as he grew older.
Bonus 2 : 24 He has a lot of similarities with Elijah Mikaelson. But not as dramatic as Elijah.

thanks for the tag jo @liamlawsonlesbian <3
star sign: aries sun, capricorn moon, virgo rising. being chill and normal was never an option.
favorite holiday: probably Halloween 💀 as someone who loves horror and is a recovering theatre kid, it's perfect. plus, i'm gay.
last meal: three twizzlers & a litre of ginger kombucha
current favorite musician: i've been listening to a lot of Wolf Alice and SASAMI recently.
last song listened to: 'No Girl So Sweet' (PJ Harvey)
(a tangent... but if any of my mutuals want to stalk each other on Spotify pls lmk...)
last movie watched: Talk to Me (2023) dir. Danny & Michael Philippou. i watched it on my flight and it was honestly a lot better than i anticipated. even though gore isn't typically my favourite, i was pleasantly surprised by how they managed to integrate it into a possession film. loved the grief-driven storylines, and the characters charmed me. rating: ☆☆☆☆
last tv show watched: Betty (HBO) !!! i have debilitating crushes on everyone from Skate Kitchen.
last book finished: Empire of Wild by Cherie Dimaline. it was assigned in one of my first year uni courses and i sped through it without really taking the time to read it properly. now that i have it's been rotting my brain non-stop. her use of simile is insane.
i also recently finished An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks. one of my all-time favourite authors and academics, would highly recommend this as a foray into 'medical' non-fiction.
last book abandoned: i don't think i've ever abandoned a book in my life, but i recently had to choke down this technical document about building codes that i can't be bothered to remember the title of.
edit: just remembered the absolute chore that was reading Outlawed by Anna North. i feel cheated and lied to by the cover because i love the cover, but the book is honestly unbelievably boring. i’m tired of the evangelical horse girl narrators, i had enough of those where i grew up. i did finish this because i hate quitting, but it tested my patience and made me feel like pulling my hair out.
currently reading: Milk Fed by Melissa Broder (for like the third time). this book is sooo weird and kind of gross, in the best way. it's definitely not going to appease everyone but i have a sick fascination with it and keep coming back. i've also been having a love affair with the cover design for a while now.
last thing researched for writing/art/hyperfixation: common apartment floorplans in Italy (if anyone has this info, hmu). i'm also in an internet sinkhole of background on the 2024 F2 grid and their respective karting histories.
favorite online fandom memory: when i was 15 i had public beef with a bunch of conservatives in a politician's comment section over pipelines and green policy and then said politician blocked me on every platform. this wouldn't be fandom related if not for the fact that i used my fan account to do all of this, so [redacted] had to search my cringe username multiple times... like omg are you a fan?
favorite old fandom you wish would drag you back in/have a resurgence: the euphoria that i felt being a part of the haikyuu fandom during quarantine will never be replicated, but i think about it every day.
favorite thing you enjoy that never had an active or big fandom, but you wish it did: i'm really into the original, morbid Grimm fairytales and wish that someone would produce a proper remake of Cinderella already. let the doves pick out the step sisters' eyes, cowards.
tempting project you don't have time for: this is a trick question because i always give into temptation regardless of whether i have time for it or not. i really want to do a series of deep-dive posts about track design and the 'architects' of f1... i've been fixated on it for a while now and haven't seen a lot of discussion about it, plus it seems like it would be fun to put all the research together :)
~ all the people i would tag have already posted, but pls do it if you'd like!

(Wrote this two years ago and never posted it. Now that I have free time, I want to practice writing again!! I have no idea where this was going, but it’s my first time writing something, so hopefully it makes some sense 💀)
Also I pictured Daniel as Aaron Taylor Johnson from that one BLACK AND WHITE AD URGH 😩 #freeATJ 😔✊🏼
—————————————————
(10 years earlier)
“Tell me to stay. Tell me, if I choose to walk away, you will never speak to me again. Tell me I’m making the biggest mistake of my life. Tell me-“
“Tell me you know how to start a sentence without using ‘tell me’, right?”
“Tell me you’re an asshole without *telling* me you’re an asshole. How’s that?” I say back. Daniel, unfazed by remark, reaches for a pillow on my bed, hurling it at the side of my head. Carefully dodging the laptop showing the unfinished script of my latest story.
“I’m just saying, you’re reaching. I mean come on, no one actually says this stuff. Let alone out loud in an airport. Imagine the looks you’d get if we held up the line like that at Heathrow. I’d barely have time to spit the second line out before security kicked us out. Not to mention the ‘No Fly List’ we’d be put on, and rightfully so.”
This has been our routine since we met in 8th grade. Now, both in college, Daniel remains the only person I share my stories with. The path to becoming a screenwriter is long and treacherous but Daniel had always been supportive of my dreams. If there was anything I could count on him for, it was his brutal honesty. He would never tell me what I wanted to hear, and was always careful to reel me in whenever I was too harsh on myself.
While I wrote, Daniel would sketch quietly on my bed. He had dreams of becoming an architect and could talk my ear off about the ingenuity of various finite materials, how brutalist architecture is his least favourite style and why he’d move to Japan in a heartbeat because timber burnt houses had proven to increase the lifespan of its tenants.
Truthfully I think his desire to create a home that stood the test of time had to do with the fact he hadn’t experienced one himself. Mr and Mrs Keating weren’t bad people per se, they were just bad parents. Daniel didn’t remember much about his childhood. Bringing up the past never bode well for him. A feat Daniel was cruelly reminded of when he was asked to recall his favourite part about his seventh birthday at school the next day.
“My Lego bike”, he said proudly.
“And when I saw daddy kissing mummy in the library.”
The kids in his class let out a chorus of ‘ews’, whilst sneaking glances at who they’d declare their love for in the playground later that day.
Mrs Keating apparently cherished that moment too, going as far as giving it its own highlighted section in the divorce papers she served Mr Keating with the following weekend. A memory she would have no recollection of, if it weren’t for Daniel’s reminder. And after both parties agreed to sell the house, cashing in a hefty cheque large enough to erase 7 years of marriage, Daniel had barely managed to pack his favourite toys before he was waving goodbye to the house he grew up in. To hell with that library, he thought.
Though I didn’t know him back then, anyone could have guessed using your child to communicate the failings of the other parent; then shipping him off to boarding school when he refused to choose a side would end in serious emotional unrest in said kid. To this day, Daniel refuses to subject himself to any notion of love in fear of repeating his parents mistakes.
“God, I cannot wait for the day Daniel Keating confesses his undying love in the middle of an airport” I say, while crawling my way into the space beside him. A loud scoff erupts from his chest and it’s my favourite sound I’ve heard all day. But then it’s silent for a beat too long and I’m afraid I’ve offended him with such a preposterous idea. Daniel, capable of love? Ha.
In a second he’s up on his feet, pacing the room with my laptop in hand. He studies my script for a few seconds and it takes all I have to not stare at him too long. But it’s Daniel Keating. And in the last six years I’ve known him, I’ve stolen enough glances to confidently recite every part of him in my sleep.
Almost, every part.
A quiet chuckle brings me back and I’m scared he’s finally caught me staring this time. He hasn’t. And although it’s impossible to see anything beyond the dark cesspool of cocoa in his eyes, I still catch that devilish glint when he stalks towards me.
“Tell me to stay Lex,” he says.
If his head full of curls weren’t brushing against his ears, I’m sure he would’ve heard my heart stop.
“Tell me you’ll never speak to me again, if I choose to walk away.”
That’s impossible, I want to say. You could walk away a million times and I’d welcome you back a million and one.
Daniel reaches me on the bed and I’m certain if I don’t take a breath in the next second my respiratory system will take ‘you’ll never speak to me again’ quite literally. Does Heaven give out ‘do-overs’ for misunderstandings like this? It’s not like I meant to stop breathing. Blame the boy currently intertwining my hand with his.
“Tell me, I’m making the biggest mistake of my life Lex.”
He cups my cheek, and I wonder if he’s noticed I’ve come undone in the palm of his hand. I wonder if he knows everything I’ve written up to this point has been about him.
About us.
I’m certain I’ve stopped breathing. But I’m not worried. There are worse ways to go out, than having Daniel Keating here with me, like this. So with my hand in his right, and my heart in his other, I make a vow right then and there. To love him with everything I have.
Daniel.
I will love you when you stay.
I will love you if you choose to walk away.
But most importantly, I will continue to love you even if it turns out to be the biggest mistake of my life.
And it is.

Back again to ask if we could get some romantic and/or family hcs for the big bear
Hell yeah I'll do both!!!
Romantic:
Bear is an absolute cuddle bug! His romantic partners are snuggled constantly and cannot escape his arms pretty much ever.
He has a preference for very hardy people- lumberjack/janes, constructions workers, the like.
He feels silly getting dressed up and just going to a restaurant or movie on a date. Nah, he's an activity guy! The fastest way to his heart is taking him hiking, camping, or doing something extreme or in the wilderness.
Always the cooker- this man makes feasts for his partners.
Relaxed on the PDA but will happily flirt just about anywhere.
Never the first to kiss but always the first to say 'i love you'.
Will gladly give his partner his entire closet.
Big spoon for days.
Great caregiver when his partner is sick.
His relationship with his wife was ripped straight from a rom-com. She was a big city architect taking a lakeside vacation while he was working on the lakeside. She fell into the water and went down the river. Next thing she knew this massive bear of a man was pulling her out and making sure she wouldn't get hypothermia. They ran in to each other again when she found him injured at the docks and took him to the er. And again they met at a local fair where they tied in a strength contest. They fell in love quickly and his wife came back to salmon arm with Bear a few months later.
Family:
All of Bears kids have plant names, daughters Daisy and Poppy and son Asher.
His wife is only a little bit smaller than him- she's more than strong enough to pick him up and carry him around for hours and vice versa.
The two of them built a beautiful cabin near the lake they met.
Bear and his wife are a little frazzled with a baby and toddler running around, but they're doing pretty good for themselves all things considering.
Bear and his siblings have very different interests but he always takes time to do what they enjoy (And they do likewise for him)
He doesn't have any nieces or nephews yet but desperately wants some. He asks his siblings when they're having kids as much as his parents.
Speaking of, both parents are very well and alive! His father is happily retired from being a professional nature guide and trail leader while his mom is still active as a rabbi.
Him and his siblings grew up as scouts. They all enjoyed it but Bear liked it the most
Bear keeps him and his family in a humble middle class life, just like he was growing up.
His wife is the biggest reason for his long, lush beard, she loves it to death and insists he keep it.

“The creation of Black Music Month was the brainchild of Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer and one of the architects of The Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP) Kenny Gamble,” schools Dyana Williams, the music industry veteran and celebrity strategist. The songwriter/producer—along with his partner Leon Huff—has created countless classics, including “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” originally recorded by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes; “For the Love of Money” by The O’Jays; and Teddy Pendergrass’ “Turn Off the Lights.”
“When he established the Black Music Association in the late 1970s, we were a couple at that point; we had two children,” continues Williams, whose illustrious road to premier Black music advocate and tag as “the Mother of Black Music Month” began as a radio pioneer, holding her own on the airwaves during a time when women were woefully underrepresented.
It was a collective effort to that day on June 7, 1979 when President Jimmy Carter hosted the reception at the White House that made Black Music Month official. Williams, who played a critical role, describes it as “a coming together of various aspects of the music industry to celebrate and recognize this multibillion-dollar industry, not just the songwriters and the singers, people behind the scenes as well.”
Williams' love of Black music, she shares, was sparked in her native New York City at a very early age. As a child, Williams learned how to dissect music. She grew up knowing where songs were recorded, who wrote them, who sang them, who played on them, who engineered them, who produced them and more. Later the daughter of Puerto Rican parents would mix and mingle with those same folks, even dating musicians as well as forming meaningful relationships with many other titans. City College of New York’s radio station WCCR gave her the first taste of what being a behind-the-scenes mover and shaker could be.
“I was the music director. I had a jazz show, but I also availed myself of student funds to produce concerts to bring artists to the school,” she says. At a time when very few women were on the air, she took her cues from one legendary figure who is today best known for Mama, I Want To Sing!. “Vy Higginsen was on the radio at WBLS and she's the first Black woman that I listened to that inspired me to want to be on the radio,” shares Williams.
Although radio no longer physically occupies as much of her time as it did throughout her life, even as she raised her three kids, Black music still keeps her busy. She is the president and founder of the International Association of African-American Music Foundation, which organizes conferences and educational symposiums as well as produces panels that communicate the vastness of Black music. In addition, IAAAM has honored many Black music greats, including Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Babyface and L.A. Reid. She’s also a board member of the Nashville-based National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), which recently honored Missy Elliott. TV One fans also recognize her as a frequent and trusted contributor to the network’s acclaimed series Unsung.
Even as Williams enters her 70s later this year, advocating for Black music is a personal mission and calling from which she can’t retire. And for good reason. “Black music deserves champions and advocates, and that's what I see myself as,” she insists. “Black Music is American music created in this country and exported culturally, but also economically. We don't tend to think of it that way, but the reality is that Black music is big business. I'm talking about not millions of dollars, but billions of dollars. We are the trendsetters. We are the weathervane so to speak. We’re the taste. We’re the flavor all over the planet. It is us and I see myself as a person who uses her platform, whether it's social media, whether it is talking with [journalists] to spread the word about the magnificence, the viability, and the power of Black music.”

Sunlit Tattoos
TickleTober 2022, Day 2: Drawn On
----
Fandom: IT movies
Ship(s): Benverly (pre-relationship)
Characters (lee/ler): Lee!Bev/Ler!Ben
Word Count: 649 words
Summary: Bev is already planning out some tattoos for when she grows up. She asks Ben for some help.
[ao3 link]
------------
It was rare that it was just the two of them. Usually it was hard to get away. There were only so many places the Losers felt safe enough to hide, odds were that you’d find at least one other person there.
But somehow, not today.
Because today it was just Ben and Bev, reclining in the late summer sun, the familiar stink of the quarry clogging up their noses. Ben leaned back against a tree, watching Bev as she doodled on one of her wrists, dappled in the sunlight that breached through the foliage above. She stuck her tongue out when she was concentrating. It was cute.
“What do you think?” Bev asked some time later, thrusting her wrist out in Ben’s direction from where she laid on the ground.
He took the offered appendage gingerly, helping hold it up so her arm wouldn’t get tired. He twisted his head to look at her finished product: a wolf on a little howling up at a full moon, sketched out all small to fit on her wrist the way she wanted.
“That’s really good!” He said, shooting her a grin that he hoped was more genuine than nervous. “I really like it.”
Bev smiled at him and took her wrist back holding it above her head to examine her handiwork. “It is pretty good, isn’t it? I think I’ll get it tattooed when I’m old enough.”
Then, she shot him a more sly grin. Pulling herself up into a sitting position, Bev shuffled back until she was leaned up against the tree with Ben, the two of them pressed together from shoulder to hip. She thrust her pen into his hand and held her clean wrist out to him.
“Your turn,” she said.
“What?”
She rolled her eyes with a smile, pushing her unmarked wrist into his other hand. “Draw me a tattoo, New Kid. Come on.”
“O-oh. I dunno, Bev. I mean, isn’t Bill really the other artist here?”
She nudged his shoulder. “Come on, Ben. You wanna be an architect, don’t you? Maybe I’m looking for something a bit more geometric for this next one.”
Ben worried at his lip. “Are you sure?”
“Positive, dummy.”
He took a few moments to think, and then Ben brought the pen down on her skin as delicately as he could, starting to sketch out a shape. Bev hummed as he worked, and slowly, her fingers started to curl up into a loose fist. Then, at a particularly light stroke, Bev gasped and jerked her wrist in his grasp. Ben immediately let go, pulling the pen away as fast as possible.
“Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
“I’m fine, Ben.” Bev huffed, shaking her head with a small smile. “It just tickled a little, that’s all.”
“Oh. Sorry.” He scratched the back of his head. “I can stop, if you want?”
Bev laughed. “How am I supposed to get the tattoo if you don’t finish it?”
“Are- are you sure?”
Bev offered up her wrist once more, an easy smile on her face. As he reached for it, she pulled it back for a moment.
“Just not a word to the others, alright?”
Ben smiled, drawing an X over his heart with a fingertip. Bev’s smile grew into a grin as she gave him her wrist, and that grin lasted all throughout the rest of his sketching.
In fact, he was even lucky enough to catch a few giggles when he was drawing in the right places, Bev squirming next to him while trying to keep her arm still. Ben made sure to work extra slowly in those spots. You know, so he wouldn’t mess up. It had nothing to do with wanting to hear her laugh as much as possible.
Ben would draw her a thousand tattoos if it meant he got to hear it just a little longer.

Today, my best friend, Walbert, passed the Bar Exam.
The year is 2010. I transferred to a different high school. This sudden change in environment had been rough for my family and me. Having gotten used to the busy city life, adjusting to the province life was like feeling struck by lightning. It was all so painful and so sudden. My life changed *snap* just like that. I cried every single day. My mom knew me so well that she knew I wouldn't want to transfer schools, so she enrolled me there without my knowledge, and for a time, I hated her. Young and naive, I didn't realize how much it affected my mom, who lived 8052.78 km away from me (I googled it). She took it harder than me, and it was when I got older that I learned how strong she was and that she was doing the best she could at that time, and I still cry every time I think about how ungrateful I was. Each day I cherish her more and more, and I promise to honor her until I take my last breath. I'm proud to be her daughter, and I want to raise my kids like I was raised by a single mom who has lived as an OFW for almost 15 years.
It was my father's hometown. I despise him to my core. For as long as I can remember, I blamed him. He was the reason why my mom had to work overseas. He was why I needed to leave my friends in the city and move to this sad little town. Everything in his tiny hometown reminded me of him. He was highly favored during his prime. He was a handsome student (who looked like Goma according to all his relatives) with honors who played sports and served the church actively. He played Chess and Scrabble and was good at them, too. Like me, he was also a journalist who loved to write, draw, and take pictures. He was also an artist who, as I remember, was my first art teacher. Most of his relatives lived on the same block, and I stayed in the same house he grew up in. Each day as I wake up, I see his graduation picture hanging on the wall and think, "How can you smile like that and ruin my life like this?"
Malita was a small town where everybody knew everybody. The high school where I enrolled was the same school he spent all his, too. My teachers were his, too. And in the back of my mind, no matter how much I didn't want it, I knew, in a way, I was his, too.
Little by little, I took my place in this sad little hometown. I learned to accept how much this place reminded me of him and make the most out of it. But as the years passed, I learned to love this little hometown because of the people I met during my stay.
My high school best friends. Walbert. Iya. FK. You made everything bearable until the day it didn't hurt as much anymore.
You saved me.
Thirteen years later, I still can't believe we're still in each other's lives. FK is now a teacher and planning to enter the seminary soon. Iya is now a licensed doctor who lives by the saying, "Serve His people." Today, we celebrate as Walbert passes the bar exam.
As cliché as it may sound, everything truly happens for a reason. Now that I'm older and hopefully a little wiser, I can finally say I'm thankful I got to experience high school in that sad little town because if not, I wouldn't be able to have this chance to know these amazing people who continuously inspire me to do my best each day as I strive to be an architect.
How much good did I bring to the world in my past lives that the universe strung our paths together and made us inseparable since the day we met?
Now, as I finish my cup of Caramel Macchiato, I can't help but smile as I reminisce about the first few years we spent together in high school in my father's sad little hometown. I don't know what the future holds for us, but I know we'll continue to be each others' rocks as we go on this journey together. I'll cherish our friendship and keep it close to my heart.
Thank you, Walbert, Iya, and FK, for being my source of strength all these years.

“I really like social media, but I believe that no one will ever really know me through it. I think people see ten percent of my life and that even if I wanted to show you more, it's impossible.”
Garal. Architect and interior designer, influencer and model, this 28-year-old girl from Madrid is very clear about what she wants in both her professional and private life: she will marry Marco Asensio this summer. A Google search first shows Sandra Garal as the girlfriend of Marco Asensio, footballe of Real Madrid and Spanish NT. But the truth is that at only 28, the madrileña has built a rich professional curriculum vitae in which her private life doesn't appear. The architect, specializing in interior design, started her own company to be able to choose projects and at the same time combine her career with another aspect that is also an important part of her professional life: working as a model and influencer who has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram. But her priority goes in the other direction: to start a family. You studied architecture and have already worked a bit. Can you tell us how this aspect of your life has been going? Indeed, I studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and after graduating I entered an architectural studio. In the end, combining this job with my personal life and other parts of my professional life was a bit complicated, so I decided to start my own business. From what we've learned, it's the interior design that attracts you the most. Yes, I love interior design! When I was in the studio, I was very focused on that. I knew interior design from architecture; it starts from the beginning and continues until the end, until the choice of furniture. The lighting, the finishes ... that's the part I love. It combines architecture with interior design. You are also an influencer and model. How do you balance so much activity? Well, with a lot of patience and being well organized. As an architect, I don't take on many projects, but instead I try to focus on one or two, so that if I have any event or marketing related to work, I can tie it together well. Being my own boss, after starting the company, it was much easier for me to manage everything, including my personal life, travel and other things. Do you think the passage of years or some aspect will impose itself on others? I feel very lucky to work as an architect. I also live in my city, which makes it easier for me to develop both as an architect and in the marketing and image part, which I also like. But it's true that in the long term my project is to be a mother, to start a family. I wouldn't mind putting architecture on hold for a bit longer and then, when my kids are grown up, doing it again or ... I'm sure I'll come up with something to work on. From the clues we've found, your wedding with Marco Asensio will take place in Mallorca this summer. What else can you tell us? The wedding will be in July, indeed, in Mallorca, in a beautiful place that I can't tell you yet. And well ... I'm very happy. Did your love for sports include football before you met Marco? Not at all (laughs). I didn't know anything about football, actually I'm learning step by step. Yes, I really liked sports because my parents instilled it in me, but football ... I remember seeing the World Cup when I was young, but not much else. And the same question about your commitment to a healthy lifestyle: was it part of your routine, or are these things that become a habit when you live with an elite footballer? It infected me one hundred percent, because I was a disaster in my schedule, in meals ... It's true that I've always played sports, but thanks to my partner, I was able to be stricter, take better care of myself. And I think he grew up too, because I encouraged him to devote himself a lot more to healthy eating, to have a personal trainer, a physiotherapist ... everything was easier when he was younger. I think the two of us have matured in that aspect. Is it true that you love poetry? Yes, I love poetry. But most of all I am passionate about love, life and how it is conveyed through poetry is what I really like. I think it expresses it in a very beautiful way. If all goes well, Marco Asensio has many more years ahead in the elite. There are life partners of footballers who have somehow frozen their aspirations, waiting for their husband's retirement to give them more room for manoeuvre. Does something like this happen to you? Not really, because as I said, living in my city makes it easier for me to devote myself to what I like. But I fully understand that when you have a partner who can live in a different city or country every year, it is very difficult to devote yourself to your profession, there are very few jobs that give you the ease of developing it around the world. For this reason, there are many women who decide to take other paths that are not their profession. Accompanying your partners is also a kind of work, because we go through professional situations in which we participate in a certain percentage and also make decisions. You are both active on social media. In fact, you announced your relationship in 2019 with several photos on Instagram, as well as your engagement. What is your relations with social media: is it a job, part of a public figure's life or do you just enjoy it? I really like social media, but I believe that no one will ever really know me through it. I think people see ten percent of my life and that even if I wanted to show you more, it's impossible. There's nothing like talking face to face to really get to know someone. You can see things through images, but you cannot see the essence. By the way, your two dogs are also the constant heroes of your publications on the networks. Are they your best company when Marco Asensio's commitments take him away from home? Of course. They are unique to me. We both love you with all our hearts and treat them like family members. Do you dare to imagine how you see yourself in ten years? In fact, if you had asked me ten years ago what I wanted to be today, I certainly wouldn't have said the person I am now. Staying who I am, having a family and a happy marriage, I am satisfied.

How does one begin writing, particularly a fanfic? Do you have most of the story already written before you begin posting chapters? How do you find someone to help read/edit what you write?
I’ve read so many of the OFMD fanfics, and yours have blown me away. I’ve got the seeds of a story in my mind, but no clue whether I have the ability to make it into something actually resembling a story - particularly one worth reading. I would love to know if you have any tips or resources!!
hi! so uh. this is a loaded question, but first things first, let me talk a little bit about the gardener vs. architect approach to writing. a gardener is someone who simply plants the seeds and waits for something to grow out of them - you might have a vague idea, you might even want to see a certain result, but you don't always end up with what you started with. the flowers might turn out a different color, some might die, some new unexpected ones might grow. the resulting garden will be beautiful either way. in other words, the story WILL happen somehow, but who's to say how it's gonna look exactly?
the architect, on the other hand, lays down a blueprint. you don't start building a house until you've got everything figured out perfectly. you don't start writing a story until you've got heaps of notes, until you know the scenes you want to lay down, until you plan for every contingency.
I myself am firmly the former. all my biggest longfics, and aftercare is no exception, started with a vague idea, oh hey this might be cool, and then grew and grew and grew from there until I had to take some hedge trimmers to them (only I never did. letting my stories get out of hand is like my trademark at this point).
to that effect, I don't do a whole lot of editing, aside from the perfunctory grammar and flow stuff. my notes are a jumbled mess that I keep adding onto as the story grows. I haven't had a beta in years, because hell, I hardly know where the story's going, how's someone else gonna pick up on anything?? I kid, I kid. finding a good beta can be good for solving that age-old issue of does this story even make sense to someone who isn't me.
the one thing I always, always, always have is an ending. it usually comes to me within the first few chapters, sometimes at the very beginning of the story, and it gives me something to strive towards.
so anyway, I'd try to figure out what works for you, first. do you need to do a lot of planning, or do you want to just wing it? try it out. when it comes to putting the actual words down, it's... I suspect the process is different for everybody. some days, it flows so easily, some days, it's like pulling teeth. a great, grand book on this subject is called bird by bird by anne lamott - it describes the process of taking really really small steps to achieve great things, so in our world, writing a tiny little bit to write something big. the author also has so many great insights on writing in general, big big big rec.
this got wordy, because, again, a gardener writer over here, but I hope it provided some measure of an answer to your questions. best of luck with your writing! writing ten words a day counts! or a thousand! or just your notes that don't make sense to anyone else but you! the actual story is just the finished product after hours and hours of writing work that never sees the light of day! good luck!
