[ Despite Newgate’s love for all of his sons and daughters, Ace was special and he was favoured. Yes Newgate strongly believed that blood doesn’t matter, however when it came to Roger, the Will of D, and the One Piece, Newgate was prepared to place Ace in a position the boy had never asked for. Newgate recognized that the One Piece was something bigger than him or Ace, or anyone else.
When a rookie came onto the scene bearing a striking resemblance to a youthful Roger, had the name of D. as well as the same name as the Supreme Grade blade Roger wielded, Newgate’s intuition told him the truth immediately. He kept an eye on the rookie until he entered the New World and that was when Newgate made his move. After meeting Ace in person and seeing his character, so similar to Roger’s, that was the moment Newgate had decided to help carry on Roger’s legacy for him.
Newgate knew that he himself was too old. He knew that he wouldn’t be the one to become Pirate King or claim the One Piece because Roger had already told him the truth about D. Beyond that Newgate had a deep respect and bond with Roger, and so he felt that if any person should become Pirate King it should be his son.
His intention was to mentor Ace and allow him to grow into a good leader that would be able to replace him when he died. Newgate knew his end was soon approaching and so he didn’t have much time. He fast-tracked Ace into the position of Commander, the same one that had been untouched since Oden left the crew over twenty years ago. Before everything descended into chaos with Thatch’s death, Newgate had been laying down the foundations to make Ace the Pirate King. He had let Marco in on his plans as well and had asked him to guide Ace in the future.
With all this in mind I still want to say that Newgate did come to love Ace as his own son. He loved Ace dearly and as a separate person of Roger. This is just to explain that it was his bond with Roger that pushed Newgate towards taking Ace under his wing in the first place. ]

The Daughter's Return Part 3
Chapter 8: Promises Broken...
Start From Beginning | Next Chapter | Table of Contents | Read on AO3
A second part will be posted tomorrow :) Characters: female reader x Portgas D. Ace Word Count: 1.4k
Over the next few days, you traversed the Alabastan Desert with the Stawhats. Ace occasionally gave you piggyback rides, and sometimes you rode on the perverted camel, but mostly you walked.
Walking gave you something to focus on. When your mind wandered, that’s when the fear crept in. So even though you were hot and miserable, you preferred walking to the alternatives.
Ace even let you wear his most treasured hat so you could keep the sun out of your eyes and avoid sunburn.
The journey was long, but it wasn’t uneventful. You learned more about Vivi and the Kingdom of Alabasta. She told you stories of her admirable undercover work in Baroque Works, and your heart hurt for her and her country.
Nami told you about her tangerines and how she wanted to draw a map of the entire world. From what you had seen, she was an excellent navigator and had a way with reading the weather that you had never seen before.
Usopp told you about stories that were too crazy to believe, and you offered up some of your actual stories in return.
Chopper talked to you about vitamins, and though you didn’t tell him exactly what was going on, he gave you a lot of medicinal herb remedies you could use in the future for morning sickness and other ailments.
Zoro didn’t talk much, but you did admire his swords. Izou had taught you how to handle swords when you were young; a skill that you had further refined in Wano, and you were able to impress the mossy-haired swordsman with a few moves.
You helped Sanji cook occasionally, preparing ingredients when you saw he was going to need them. It reminded you of how you helped Thatch in the kitchen, and you tried not to be too sad over the thought of never doing it with him again.
Luffy stuck by Ace most of the time, the two of them exchanging stories. You liked to sit and listen to their tales of childhood, and Ace told Luffy plenty of stories about his time on your father’s ship. They deeply cared for each other, which softened your heart. Ace rarely opened up to people in the way he opened up to the Strawhats, and you found yourself thoroughly enjoying everyone’s company.
When you finally found the man who claimed to have Teach, you weren’t surprised to discover he was a fraud. You were a little disappointed to realize you would actually have to leave Luffy and his crew, though. You had grown very fond of them all.
“Let’s go in the morning,” Ace begged. “One more night with them all?”
“Sure.” You grinned, knowing he was just as sad to leave as you were.
He plopped a sloppy kiss on your cheek and got up to stretch.
“Be right back,” he said, sauntering off to talk to a few other crew mates.
“I still can’t believe Ace joined a crew,” Luffy said, shaking his head. “This Whitebeard guy can’t be that great!”
You laughed at his comment, your eyes on Ace as you watched him talk to Chopper. “He’s a good guy, Luffy. I think you’d like him if you met him.”
“He has to be a good guy.” Luffy sighed and fell back into the sand. “Ace wouldn’t respect him if not. Ace doesn’t like anybody.”
Your eyes finally broke away from Ace, and you looked at Luffy in confusion. “What are you talking about, Luffy? Ace likes everybody!”
“No way!” He huffed. “He tried to kill me when he first met me! He tried to kill me a lot!”
You thought about how Ace mentioned he had tried to kill your father long ago. That version of Ace lined up a lot more with what Luffy was saying.
“I think pops beat it out of him.” Your eyes ventured back to Ace, who was now talking to Sanji. You wished he was back by your side. It was getting cold without him.
“He seems happy,” Luffy said, so quiet it was almost a whisper. “I think you did that to him.”
“Me?!” you laughed. “I make his life infinitely harder, Luffy. Trust me.” You resisted the urge to put your hand to your stomach at that thought.
“Nah.” Luffy sat up and shook his head, sending sand everywhere. “He really loves you. I can tell.”
“How can you tell?”
Luffy hummed, deep in thought. “Well, he would-”
“Got you some tea,” Ace said, interrupting his brother. “How are you feeling?”
“Better.” You snuggled into his arms, letting his warmth wrap around you as you gripped your teacup.
You looked back at Luffy to hear the rest of his answer, but the boy was already off laughing with another crewmember. Whatever he was going to say was long gone.
It was a joyous night gathered around the campfire, but it was short lived. Everyone was exhausted, and you were barely able to keep your eyes open near the end.
“We can go to bed,” Ace offered, smirking at you as you nodded off.
“No,” you groaned, resting your head on his warm shoulder. “S’our last night…”
“Come on,” he whispered, picking you up and taking you over to your all’s sleeping bags that were a good distance from the rest of the camp. “You need a good night's sleep.”
“Mmmkay,” you hummed, curling up into the sleeping bag. “Come here. You’re so warm.”
“Did you drink all your tea?” Ace brushed the hair away from your face as you hummed with delight.
“It was really good, thank you.”
Ace watched you closely, waiting for you to go to sleep. “I love you so much. You know that, right?”
“Of course,” you mumbled, a sleepy smile ghosting across your face. “I love you too, Acey.”
Ace bit his lip, holding back his emotions. He gave you a soft kiss on the forehead, and by the time he pulled away, you were softly snoring.
You had drank all of the sleeping medicine he had put in your tea. With any luck, you would be out until morning. By then, he’d be long gone.
He slipped his hand into your bag, and pulled out your stack of vivre cards. He shuffled through each one, until he found a small piece of paper with his name on it, covered in hearts that you had drawn across the entire slip of paper. Ace quickly removed it from the pile and shoved it in his pocket, putting all of your other cards back into your bag.
He bent down and gave you one more kiss, and when you didn’t stir, he walked over to the dying campfire. Only Luffy and Nami were still awake, both sitting in silence as they watched the coals.
“Here, Luffy.” Ace handed him a new blank slip of paper. “Whatever you do, don’t tell Y/N you have that.”
“This?” Luffy examined the paper, but it was blank. “What is it?”
“We’ll use it to find each other again one day. When we’re both big named pirates.”
Luffy frowned. “It’s just a piece of paper, though.”
“Do you not want it?”
“No,” Luffy said. “I’ll keep it.”
“Are you leaving now?” Nami asked. “It’s the middle of the night.”
“Yeah, I’ve got to get a head start and get the Striker ready.” Ace gave a longing glance back at you. “When she wakes up, can you hand her this?” He passed off a transponder snail to Luffy.
“Sure,” Luffy said. “But don’t you just want to take her along now?”
“Nah,” Ace said. “She knows where I’m going. She needs to rest. Just leave her until morning. And look after her, will you? Make her travel with you guys until you get back to your ship. I’ll meet her in Nanohana”
“Okay!” Luffy said.
“Don’t mention that paper, Luffy. I’m serious. She’ll take it from you.”
“But it’s mine!”
“So put it somewhere safe.”
“This doesn’t make any sense,” Nami said, her frown deepening. “Ace, if you’re meeting her in back in Nanohana, you should just-”
Ace ignored Nami, not wanting her to think too hard about his false plan. “Next time I see you, Luffy, we’ll both be top pirates!”
“Deal!” Luffy said.
And then Ace was gone, disappearing into the night, leaving you blissfully unaware of the unforgivable thing he had just done.

Hay!
Hope you are doing great. I wanted to ask for the following request.
Headcanons for: s/o meeting their "father" / role model
Luffy - Shanks
Marco and Ace - Whitebeard
Law - Corazon
Sabo - Dragon
For female reader and maybe you could add one or two aspects like how their "fathers"/role models would react on telling them s/o is pregnant and they are going to be grandfathers. But this is not necessary!
Thanks a lot for your awesome content on your blog! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Hey hey! Thank you for always requesting so different kind of requests! I really enjoy writing your ideas! For Law I was thinking about an alternative timeline where Rosinante wasn't dead and therefore Law was still technically part of Mingo's crew. I hope you don't mind :) Please enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Luffy
Luffy is not worried about you meeting Shanks. He knows that Shanks will like you so there is simply no point in him thinking about it too much. Luffy is a little hasty when it comes to making new friends but he has a pretty good sense of who to trust and Shanks trusts Luffy in that aspect.
So, when you meet the emperor you are waaay more nervous than Luffy is and not just because Shanks is one of the most powerful pirates there is. You have shaky knees, your mouth is dry and you feel like you have to vomit – and in the end you were worried about nothing.
Shanks welcomes you with open arms and he will instantly ask if you if you want to have a drink to celebrate; well he won’t really ask and rather demand you take a drink. He wants to know everything about you, not just about you and Luffy. He takes genuine interest in your life and what motivates you. Though, most of his questioning is to make sure that you not have any ulterior motives.
When Luffy announces (out of nowhere) that you are pregnant, he will be shocked (mostly because he’s never thought about Luffy becoming a father). But when Luffy says that he will be a “grandpa” he is speechless. He knows how much Luffy looks up to him but he’s never imagined him considering Shanks as a father.
“It’ll be an honor to be part of your child’s life, Luffy, Y/n.” and he really means it. He won’t cry or anything like that but he is deeply moved even though he isn’t sure if he’s the best role model there is. Needless to say, his crew is happy for you guys as well and Luffy is just grinning like he’s won the lottery.
Tumblr media
Marco
You’ve heard many stories about Whitebeard from Marco. After all, he’s been part of his crew for ages and you’re really excited to finally meet the man Marco speaks so highly of. Marco also manages to take away your nervousness for the most part. He prepared you for any scenario that might occur and you honestly feel confident in meeting him.
When you eventually meet him though, all this confidence is blown away and your head is empty. I mean, this man is a giant and his aura alone makes people run for their lives. Iz also doesn’t help that he looks at you with a somewhat wary expression the first time he meets you; but that’s simply because he’s overly protective of his family.
This wariness, however, will vanish once he gets to know you more and more. It also helps that Marco is practically praising you without being too obvious. Things like “Oh, I started teaching her one or two things about medicine and she is a quick learner.” Or “Y/n is the best at telling stories! It makes you feel like you were part of it!”.
Marco takes a while to tell Whitebeard that you two are expecting a child. He isn’t sure if he wants to stay with you, to have you come with them or find another option but he wants Whitebeard to know. But before he can even tell his captain the good news Whitebeard already looks at him with a knowing smile. I can imagine him already knowing the second you board the ship. It’s just his instincts.
What he wasn’t expecting was Marco actually telling him that he will become a grandfather. Sure, he considers all of his crew his family but there is something special to being called a grandpa, he doesn’t really know why. He just likes the thought of Marco’s child already being part of his family without being born yet. That’s a first, for sure.
Tumblr media
Ace
Different from Marco, Ace is not the best at helping you calm down before meeting Whitebeard. You’ve heard all the stories about this impressive man and it doesn’t really help that Ace tells you over and over again how he got beaten my “the old man” back then. You know Ace is strong, but how strong must Whitebeard be when he defeated your boyfriend so easily?
Just like with Marco’s partner meeting Whitebeard, the emperor is wary of you. But different from Marco, Whitebeard doesn’t quite trust Ace’s “taste” when it comes to women. He knows Ace is capable of making rational decisions but he is also quite sure that Ace could mess things up rather quickly.
Not because he is a bad person but because he is still young and can be a little irrational sometimes or make hasty decisions. But all the worries he might have are blown away when he sees how happy Ace is while being with you and seeing him happy makes Whitebeard happy. He will warm up to you rather quickly after that and consider you part of his family as well.
Ace will probably be drunk when he tells Whitebeard that he will become a grandpa and you are in shock. Not because he told him that he’d be a grandpa, you’ve already talked about this and accepted that the emperor is like Ace’s father, so you have no problem considering your child being Whitebeard’s “grandchild”. No, the reason you’re shocked is because he is drunk! This is NOT the way you wanted your “father-in-law” to know about your pregnancy.
But Whitebeard takes it with humor and is actually excited about the news. Just with Marco, there is something special about being called a grandpa instead of just “pops” or “old man”. He is also kind of looking forward to seeing Ace’s child grow up to become a strong pirate (if he lived that long).
Tumblr media
Law
You actually met Rosinante quite early on in your relationship with Law. Not because either of you insisted you meet him but because it just happened. You met him by coincidence when you two visited Dressrosa and there he was.
Law has told you about Rosinante, telling you everything about him once he trusted you completely. You also knew that Rosinante was “mute” in front of Doflamingo and his crew so you weren’t too surprised when he didn’t answer you directly. But once the three of you were alone and he created this soundproof space he started talking. And boy, was he excited to meet you. Remember when Law called him “Cora-san” for the first time? This type of excited but even more.
He wants to know everything about you two and Law will eventually disappear to leave the two of you alone. He loves you but he gets annoyed rather quickly, especially once either of you start talking about Law. Rosinante about how Law was when he was a child and you about how he is when being with you.
You are the one announcing to him that you’re pregnant and he doesn’t know what to say. He’s over the moon and back and he is so happy for the two of you. He will immediately look for Law and congratulate him as well, already thinking about names for your child.
What gives him the rest though, is when Law kind of awkwardly tells him that he should make some room in the future to help take care of the baby (when Mingo isn’t around since he doesn’t know that Corazon actually likes kids) since the child will eventually start calling him grandpa or something along the lines.
Tumblr media
Sabo
It takes a long time for Sabo to ask you to finally meet Dragon. Not because he doesn’t trust you but he needs to trust you, if you know what I mean. Dragon is one of the most wanted people on this planet so of course Sabo doesn’t want to sabotage him by bringing in someone who he doesn’t trust 200%. So, naturally, you two have been dating for at least one year, probably even more.
And even when you eventually meet the leader of the revolutionary army, the man will have his men keep a close eye on you, just in case, even though he trusts Sabo completely and his judgement when it comes to people. But better be safe than sorry and you probably won’t even notice anyone.
Sabo is a naturally talkative person so it doesn’t take long for him to praise all your good sides (like Marco) but also point out your “weak points” like embarrassing things you’ve done while you two have been dating. But that’s exactly what will eventually convince Dragon that you are 1. No threat to the army and 2. Are the right woman for Sabo.
He knows he has a son out there but he considers Sabo his son as well so when the blonde tells him that he will become a “grandpa” he is taken aback. He won’t be showing his joy about the news openly and you will probably think that he is not too pleased about the news but that’s basically because the revolution is his top priority, even above his family.
Nevertheless will he give the two of you his blessing and he kind of enjoys the thought of being a grandpa but he won’t engage in his “grandchild’s” life too much for above mentioned reasons. He will drop by from time to time to see how you are doing but he won’t be changing anything in his behavior and daily schedule. Ivankov will probably play a bigger part in your child’s live than Dragon will.

Hello Precious Kate!
I was just drinking coffee and then I got lost in my thoughts until I had a realization-
Can-
Can you maybe..if you feel okay, make Part 4 of Platonic Yandere! Mafia! Whitebeard Pirates! with Teen! Y/n?..
She woked up in Pops cabinet and heard few whispers from several people. When she woke up - the first thing she noticed was a gigantic man sitting in front of her.
She could recognize him immediately. A man that she met by the will of fate.
Whitebeard himself.
She couldn't stop trembling and sweating of how nervous and scared she was. She could only look at the floor with non-blining stare despite the fact that she was being watched.
Everyone was here, Ace, Marco, Vista and others were here.
She wanted to cry but yet she just lowered her head and closed her eyes with hope that this is just a horrible nightmare.
I just really wanted to see their reaction and what would they say. Honestly, you can make it as a drabble if you want.
I just...I just had not really good day and sharing the idea with you someway helps me.
Have a great day!
I'm so sorry you aren't having a great day! I hope this makes you smile!
Also, I think this is a good one to end this series! I've loved writing them so far, so I thank you for the amazing ideas! Of course, you can request more Yandere Whitebeard pirates, I really don't mind. But this would be a good time to end this one, just to go with the story.
Tumblr media
There were voices all around her. Laughing, arguing, and more. She didn't want to open her eyes, remembering the man who kidnapped her. The men talking were probably the ones who kidnapped her family, too.
She wanted to cry at the thought of her brother and father gone. They must've experienced a horrible death, all because of her. Were they going to kill her, too? Torture her? Maybe even worse?
A sudden, gentle kick to her leg brought her eyes to open. She suddenly sits up, scrambling backwards as a crowd of men stood in front of her. Her back met the cold, wood wall.
"Don't hurt her!" A shirtless man with black hair yelled at the man next to him.
The man next to him had a white buttoned-down shirt that was opened to show his chest and stomach. He had blond hair and folded his arms. "I didn't hurt you, you idiot! I would never!"
But (Y/N)'s eyes landed on a big man who sat on a wooden box. He was the only one sitting down. This guy had a long white mustache, curving up to his ears.
"That's enough." His voice almost made the whole place shake. Everyone went silent, looking at the man. "Hello, (Y/N)." He greets her gently.
Her body shook as she hugs her knees. She was terrified of them, couldn't even speak.
"My name is Edward Newgate." He frowned at her shaking body. "I promise, we don't want to hurt you. I hope you understand, but we did this to protect you." He tries to reason.
"P-protect me?! You kidnapped my brother and father! You probably killed them, too!" Somehow, she was more furious then frightened. But that confidence quickly went away when the man shows a deep frown.
"Your family? They were treating you horribly. So, we had to protect you somehow. From them. I don't understand why you are so upset."
"Th-they were my family..." She scrabbles to say, hot tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I see. It looks like you'll have to stay in here until you realize we are your saviors. We saved you from your family's torture." With that, he stood up, walking out of the room. All of the men followed behind him, besides one in particular.
The black-haired man who kidnapped her. He stepped closer, crouching down to her level.
"Wh-where am I...?" She asks the man before he could speak.
Ace smiles. "We're on a boat. About ready to move to another city."
She was shocked. A boat? Then she couldn't escape!
"Don't be scared. We'll protect you, forever."
He locks the door behind him, his footsteps getting further and further away.

Hey! If you don’t mind me asking are you comfortable with writing for the Whitebeard pirate commanders?
Gonna be honest, I think I only know I few. Though I’m willing to learn any of the others. And to add a bit of meat to this ask, I will now go over my options for the ones I know.
Tumblr media
Marco
Ok, so I find him very attractive even though he is a stupid pineapple. Like I don't know how he's so attractive because of his hairstyle but it's probably his personality combined with his body, glasses, and body language.
I find his personality very attractive since he is an older man (I have father issues yes) but is also a caregiver. Since he is a doctor he has this energy of care about him while also having some wise years. It's nice having a rock sort of character.
Now onto how this man acts, he is strong and he knows it. With Marco being the second-division captain of the Whitebeards crew, he has this authority to him that I personally love.
Also, his Devil Fruit is badass and cool. Kinda don’t like his dub voice, think it could be a little sleeper or older. In the dub, he sounds like a teenage boy who just hit puberty. Like I wish he had just a bit more age to his voice.
Tumblr media
Ace
AHH BABY ACE I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. This boy comes with so much baggage it's crazy. Like he has such wet sad dog energy as a yandere in my brain.
This man is a ball of guilt that hides behind a facade of charisma. He is such a good character and I love him for that. He is also a sad character but still. Our soft boy we all love.
I do find his looks very appealing as well. Like come on he is a shiftless man with loose pants. He is conventionally attractive as well with his slightly waving hair and freckles. I could imagine him wearing gray sweatpants.
Baby soft boy I wish he was alive LIKE COME ON HOW COULD YOU RIP OUT MY HEART LIKE THAT AND KILL WHITEBEARD WHEN WE FIRST GET TO SEE HIM IN HIS WHOLE ASS GLORY LIKE COME ON! I have some feelings about it.
Tumblr media
Thatch
Ok so we didn't see a bunch of Thatch since he was pretty much just a character piece to cause conflict between Blackbeard and Whitebeard. So a lot of his characteristics are headcanons of mine or others.
So for his personality, we know he's a social butterfly and seemed like a pretty happy guy. Match that with his cooking attire and his being a Whitebeard pirate, mostly everyone sees him as a sort of a caregiver.
I've seen some art with his pompadour down in a long hairstyle which pleases my monkey brain. I've also seen some art of him getting the Yami Yami no Mi instead of Blackbeard which I find an even cooler concept.
Overall I very much like how malleable he is as a character. He is a nice person but there's a lot of stuff you can do with his character. You could make his backstory almost anything you want.
Tumblr media
Izou
My favorite. I think it's my gay-ass mind and straight mind getting confused. They just see “Oh pretty face and nice hair.” then “Straight killer abs.” also men with long hair are just great.
Ok so I'm pretty sure Izou isn't transgender but is more cross-dressing. I think the trans one is his sister, Kiku.
I think Izou is a very beautiful design for my fangirl brain. He has a very feminine face while having a male body. While I do like manly men, there's something about beautiful men that does it for me.
There is also a little character change from his first appearance from Timeskip. He gets gloves in Wano which scratches my brain just a little more.

One Piece Mermaid AU!
Featuring Luffy as a rubber mermaid who can’t swim, and Ace who carries her on his back as they pirate together.
*Genderbend warning, fem!Luffy
Sliding in last minute for MerMay, bc idk about you, but I need something to mark that May has passed this year...
~~
PLEASE DO NOT REPOST, EDIT, TRANSLATE, OR OTHERWISE USE MY ART. To share, please reblog! Reblogs and comments greatly appreciated!!!
~~
Base headcanons for this AU beneath the cut! ↓ ↓ ↓
Luffy's a mermaid who was raised in Fuusha village, just like in canon. And, just like in canon, despite being a mermaid, she SUCKS at swimming, a fact that Shanks finds absolutely hilarious. She still wants to become a pirate, she still eats her devil fruit and becomes a rubber mer(?), she still gets kidnapped by Higuma (who sees her as an excellent way to rake in cash, given how valuable mermaids are on the slave market), and Shanks still gives her his hat.
As a devil fruit user, Luffy's already atrocious swimming skills are now at zero. She can still breathe under water, but will sink like a stone, her strength sapped by the sea, and if she loses consciousness she'll stop breathing too. Needless to say, she stays out of the water, and the villagers come to accept that sometimes, mermaids just live on land.
Garp still comes back, and is still furious at her wanting to become a pirate (and inwardly, extremely concerned that a bandit tried to catch and sell her), and still takes her to live at Dadan's where she meets Ace.
Ace has no idea what to think of the weird fish-brat who he's now told is gonna be his sibling, and resolutely ignores Luffy. He's inwardly slightly impressed as Luffy continues to follow him through the mountain every day, not even particularly hindered by lack of legs and using a mixture of crawling, squirming, hand-walking, and ricocheting forward with rubber arms to move.
Luffy still meets Sabo the same way as canon, and is still caught by Porchemy, who at first is thrilled because a mer brat! That'll bring in WAY more money than the spare change Ace stole! But in the end, he loses his temper at Luffy's stubbornness and still beats her to a pulp.
Ace and Sabo still rescue Luffy, and they still exchange sake cups and become brothers.
Yes, brothers.
Because at this point, neither Ace nor Sabo nor any of the bandits, nor anyone really on Dawn island save Makino and Garp actually know that Luffy's a girl. Not even Luffy.
The three brothers promise to each other that they'll all leave the island when they turn seventeen, setting out to sea to become pirates (Ace and Sabo are honestly a little concerned, given how often people try to sell Luffy, and how despite aquatic appearances Luffy's vulnerable af in water, but decide to wait and see. They have seven years together, Luffy ten until seventeen, who knows how much stronger their baby brother will get in that time).
Sabo "dies."
Ace and Luffy continue to train, and things don't change until Ace is seventeen, shortly before he sets out to sea.
He's let Luffy crawl into his blanket to sleep with him (partially cold-blooded, Lu gets cold easily when inactive), and Ace realizes that his lil brother's chest feels a bit lumpy.
Concerned, he makes Luffy have it checked out by the bandits, who are shocked to find developing...breasts?
That can't be right...right?
Dadan makes a call to Garp, who snorts and says of COURSE Luffy's a girl, didn't he say granddaughter?
No, he had not, he had only mentioned "grand child."
Everyone is shocked, but none more so than Ace, who really doesn't know what to do with this new information.
(Luffy's not quite sure what a "girl" is, and when she asks Ace, Ace honestly doesn't know how to define "girl" either, so she doesn't get what the big deal is)
Ace realizes he's troubled because he can't remember the number of times he's rescued Luffy from potential traffickers, and the number of times he's heard the lament, "Pity it's not female, it'd be worth quadruple," from the kidnappers before he beats them to a pulp.
He already had doubts about letting Luffy go out to sea alone, three years after he's left. But now knowing that Luffy's a girl, and one of the most sought-after species that traffickers target...he knows the world out there is much bigger than a teeny peaceful East Blue island, and Luffy may not get lucky every time, and may not be strong enough in just three years.
But at the same time, it's not like he can order her to stay here. There's no way Luffy'd listen; the sea calls to her, freedom calls to her, and Ace understands that more than anyone.
Sabo, Ace thinks, what would you do?
The night before he leaves, Ace tells Luffy that there's been a change of plans.
He's still leaving for sea. He's going to get stronger, and work his way towards becoming Pirate King.
BUT, three years later, Luffy will NOT leave Dawn Island alone.
Ace promises that he'll come back, a stronger pirate capable of looking out for his baby brother (because girl or not, they exchanged vows of brotherhood, and that's something that can't be changed).
He refuses to let Luffy be his captain, he's still got his pride, but maybe, maybe if Luffy becomes strong enough, he'll let her be co-Captain.
Luffy is thrilled, because she wanted to be pirates WITH Ace, and grudgingly accepts the compromise, and promises to train and wait for Ace's return.
Ace leaves Dawn island, and makes a name for himself on the Grand Line (he's PISSED when he finds out he's eaten a devil fruit, because now how's he supposed to rescue Lu from drowning when he can't swim himself???).
He even eventually makes it to Whitebeard, and eventually comes to admire the man. Whitebeard invites him to his crew, and Ace honestly replies that a large part of him wants to accept...but he can't. He promised his baby brother that they'll be pirates and co-captains together, and he can't join another pirate crew without Luffy agreeing too. Even so, and he knows it's selfish of him, he wants to call Whitebeard his father.
Whitebeard tells him that Ace is already his son, regardless of where his allegiances lie, and gives him his blessing to return to East Blue to fetch Luffy. Whitebeard laughs that he can't wait to meet the lil brat that Ace speaks so highly of, and for Ace to hurry up and come back to the New World so they can meet.
Ace plans on traveling light, his former crew all choosing to join the Whitebeard pirates except for his first mate, Deuce. Ace loves his crew, but they're also his crew, and knows that he wants to make their crew with Luffy. So he thinks he and Deuce will be a good starting point (You're just bringing me along bc you want someone who can swim on the crew, Deuce accuses).
As they're planning on leaving, Marco lets slip to fellow commander Thatch that he heard that Ace's "little brother" is actually a super cute girl.
The next morning, Thatch shows up too, insisting that he come along, because hey! He's been with the Whitebeards for ages and hasn't been to Paradise in a while, he wants some change! And won't it be nice to have someone as reliable as him along, just until they get back to the New World and reunite with the Whitebeards? Really he has no ulterior motives like wanting to check out Ace's supposedly hyper hot baby brother-sister!
Ace is suspicious, but Thatch is already on board and the other Whitebeards are already waving so he lets it go.
(Shortly after they leave, Thatch discovers a devil fruit. Deuce tells him to sell the damn thing, it'll taste like shit, but Thatch thinks boy wouldn't it be great to be able to woo Ace's hot brother with a really cool devil fruit power. So he eats it, and yeah it tastes like shit, but now he can control Darkness which is sorta badass?)
(Somewhere on the Whitebeard ships, Blackbeard is still waiting for someone to find the darkness devil fruit, and well, it doesn't happen)
Before Ace returns to Dawn Island, part of him still hopes that Luffy looks passably like a guy. Having been to Fishman island, having befriended Jinbe, he knows that while mermen can still be targeted, mermaids are exponentially more vulnerable. He's learned the kinds of clothing that can help conceal tails, and is hoping that there's a slim chance they might be able to be pirates without the world knowing that Lu's a mermaid.
His hopes are shot when Luffy rockets into his arms at the dock, and his face is immediately buried in enormous tits that definitely weren't there three years ago.
Despite Ace's growing concerns (and red face; why does he feel so hot??? It's not his devil fruit...), Ace lets Luffy give Deuce a beating (why me?!) to claim her position as Ace's Co-Captain of the newly established ASL pirates (because if we're pirates together, Sabo has to be with us too!).
Luffy's gotten a lot stronger, but is still utterly ignorant of the outside world and the dangers it holds (such as the drooling Thatch who immediately wins Luffy over with his cooking despite Ace's burning glares). She's reckless and falls into the ocean every damn day, and while Deuce dives in after her and they've discovered her useful ability to talk to fish to ask for help, it still gives Ace heart attacks.
They still pick up more crew members while in East Blue, including Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji, a pervy cook who competes daily with Thatch for Luffy's affections through food (Luffy appreciates the food).
At Arlong Park, Luffy encounters fishmen for the first time in her life. Arlong mocks Luffy's choice of friends and family, and invites her to join his crew made of her own kind. Fishmen and mer are the superior race, and Luffy will make a fine wife, Arlong says.
Luffy breaks his nose off, and Nami joins their crew.
Luffy's chosen mode of transportation is on the back of one of her sturdier crew mates, usually Ace, but often Zoro too. She unfortunately hates all the long skirts/robes Ace suggested for her to hide her tail, and so Ace has decided that being as intimidating as possible while carrying his brother glued to his back is the only way to go.
Needless to say, news of the former Spade Pirates Captain + Whitebeard Commander Thatch (are they an extension of the Whitebeards??) establishing the new ASL pirates spreads fast. That, and rumors that there's a beautiful young mermaid on board who can't swim. And despite the strength of the crew and their attempts at vigilance, Luffy's still dumb and gullible, and is kidnapped (and rescued) a dozen times before they're even on the Grand Line.
(after a few times, Luffy's uncharacteristically quiet, and privately asks Ace if they can break up the crew. She's holding Ace back; she not only made him come back to her, but half their adventures just seem to be her crew rescuing her. She's strong enough to defeat enemies, but not save herself. Ace tells her to shut up, and never bring this up again; they're BROTHERS, and he's not going to leave her behind or make her abandon her dreams when she can't accomplish them alone, and that's his choice. Luffy doesn't bring it up again, but works harder than ever to become stronger and earn recognition as co-Captain when the world seems intent on thinking of her as Ace's pet.)
During one of these kidnappings, Luffy's successfully brought all the way to an auction house before her crew can rescue her. An auction house that unbeknownst to them, was under investigation by the Revolutionary Army.
Liberating slaves is an unfortunately common mission for them, and Sabo's doing final sweeps as Koala frees the last of them when he notices a tank stowed away in a corner. He's familiar with these tanks, used to showcase mermaids in the rare occasions one can be caught, and it looks empty but he's still drawn to it for some reason.
It's only when he gets closer that he notices a mermaid crumpled at the bottom of the enclosure. She's completely slumped over, and he's afraid she's already gone, even as something about her screams with familiarity.
He's cracked the tank and has reached in to pull her out, when the wall behind him explodes in flames, revealing a furious Ace who snarls at the strange man with his hands on his baby brother...
...and then Sabo's memories come back.
~~
Something like that???? For an initial HCs dump????

Reading One Piece pt 304: Whitebeard Arrives
Chapter 551
Thoughts:
- Fpos/cs: “Fat Usopp” that’s… that’s exactly what we get, yes
- Ace’s parentage is now known to the whole world and everyone is LOSING THEIR SHIT
- “It still exists! The bloodline of the Pirate King!” …ok? Who cares about BLOODLINE, that’s ONE GENERATION
(me: ‘ignores title of my last recap’)
No, I really think you need more than father and son to create that feeling of glamour we give important families. Either ridiculously long family tree or a LOT of kids will suffice for a “bloodline’ to make sense but this here doesn’t really count in my book
- but yeah, Ace being Roger’s son is a BIG THING. Do they expect Ace to be a Pirate King too? I mean, it was just a title. AND we still don’t know what Roger actually DID that made him so cool. He didn’t even told anyone what’s on the end of Grand Line goddammit. Was he disrupting WG’s work like Luffy does?
- at Marineford, everyone is like “holy shit” but in a very quiet way
- “He isn’t Luffy’s… brother by blood?” no, Hancock, he isn’t. Smoker and Mihawk are singled out and I don’t know why
- “His son was alive all this time! It’s incredible! Everybody associated with Roger was executed!” shut up, Moria. This continues to be horrible. Why? Because Roger’s crewmembers we know are all fine: Rayleigh, Crocus, Shanks, even Buggy. What Moria means is that everyone too weak to fight WG was executed. Their association with Roger was probably brief at best. This is disgusting
- “I thought his father must be Dragon too, since he’s Luffy’s brother!” “So did I! What’s going on here? They aren’t really brothers?” Coby and Helmeppo are confused. I love the gossiping :D I should be more curious about Ace and Luffy’s brotherhood but I’m fully expecting a big flashback that will Explain Everything at some point
- GARP FLASHBACK EVERYONE QUIET
- …
- so Roger and Garp were friends? Or enemies who respected each other. And Garp really didn’t want an innocent child to suffer. I can deal with that
- …I can’t deal with that
- Garp DID help her!!! (Ace’s mother Rouge)
- “If you’re a girl, I’ll name you Anne. If you’re a boy…” poor woman
- “You’re going to raise them, Dadan.” I heard that name before! Looks like Garp took Ace to his friend to raise him after Rouge’s death
- mini Luffy!!!
- end of flashback
- …ok, Garp probably didn’t raise Ace in the same way he didn’t raise Luffy but at least he kept him safe for 17 years. Then Ace went to the sea and, well, Ace’s an adult now. It’s his business to become a pirate or to be captured and/or killed. Garp still could have done something but still. Innocent child was protected. Not-so-innocent adult should live in a better world but that’s what you get when you have a totalitarian government looming over everything
- the point is, Garp gets a “There was an Attempt” Gold Star for his troubles and I’ll continue to like him very much. He got depths to him I don’t associate with Monkey name (maybe I should)
- Sengoku is still speaking
- “We weren’t the only ones who learned the truth. Whitebeard took you, a son of his former rival, aboard his ship… so that he could raise you to be the next Pirate King!” I LOVE THE DRAMA HERE
- “No! I joined Pops to help him become the King Of Pirates!” “You’re the only one who believes that.” Oh shit
- “Don’t you know why we were never able to touch you? Because Whitebeard was protecting you!” OH SHIT ACE’S FACE
- while I believe everything Sengoku says is true, I wonder where and how did he learnt all of that. Cipher Pol is that good?
- “But you had to be stopped. In time your abilities would eventually allow you to lead a new generation of pirates on a reign of terror! For this reason, your execution today is necessary!” what abilities, his fire power is great but not exactly stronger than other powers we saw. Or did Roger had a superpower he passed on to his son? Maybe the hearing voices thing? …Why am I thinking of Ohara?
- “Even if it means an all-out war with Whitebeard!!!” …I both understand and I don’t. This is the most honest reasoning on starting a war I ever saw. But honestly, WG wants to hide things that much they start a (World) War?
- what?
- The Gates of Justice are opening! On their own! (???)
- It’s Luffy!!!
- AGHDJHDHGS BUGGY
- no but seriously, who opened it
- !!!!!!
- It’s a pirate fleet! It must be Whitebeard!!!
- “… …You guys are here too?” I’m sorry, too? Does Ace knows something? Or did he not expect Whitebeard to come? He knows about Luffy? What
- Warlords are excited. This will a FIGHT
- Admirals collectively woke up from their naps
- …underwater?
- YES, UNDERWATER!!! Whitebeard’s ships are in the harbor!
- Ga ha ha ha… How long has it been, Sengoku?”
- THERE HE IS! WHITEBEARD!

Heres a short fic for you guys! Not happy with it, but to be fair I’m rarely happy with any of my stuff. Also how the fuck do you format on this site. Its always painful when I have it how I want and tumblr goes “lol nah.”  This is as good as it’s gonna get, I’m not tearing it apart again and restarting lmao
Whitebeard and Whitey Bay talk about something they should have settled a long time ago.
Pops smiled as he watched his children dance and laugh. A mingle of crews that hadn't seen each other in months. The energetic atmosphere that filled the ship was hard not to feel. His children yelled and drank; A friendly fight here, a splash of someone being thrown overboard there, the excitement that surrounded the Moby brought a small smile to the old man's face. Even with all the joy and laughter, however, there was a less exciting reason he had called them to the Moby.
“Good evening, my dear. Enjoying yourself?” He chuckled at his fellow captains unamused huff.
Whitey stared up at him, eyebrow quirked curoisly, “Hard to enjoy yourself when you don’t know why you were summoned. You never give a vague reason to visit, and I doubt it was just for a party.”
Pops’ smile remained, but his demeanor grew dispirited. To the crew this was nothing more than a gathering amongst family, but to the captains who organized the whole event over the den-den there was something more, even if the one did not know the whole story.
“Yes,” He said, “There is something we must discuss. Though...not here.”
This was to be a personal chat just between the two of them; a father and his daughter, not captains on unequal footing. As he stood up the crew briefly halted to look at their father figure. He simply gave a smile and wave, and just like that the party continued. Whitey followed him to back to his quarters, puffing her chest out proudly and her hands balled at her sides. He could feel her questioning gaze burning into his back the whole way.
He felt a glow of pride at how observant and unapologetic his first daughter was, calculated and cold. No matter what he heard uttered from smaller crews or the blasphemy from the marines, only the Whitebeards truly knew just how important and revered Whitey was. Pops was a truly lucky father, and yet...no matter how outspoken and confident he was, he felt he had done her a great disservice. He felt it was high time he addressed it, for both their sakes.
Once in his quarters he closed the door behind her and sat on the edge of the bed, offering a hand down to her. The confused and slightly disturbed expression on her face never changed as he gently scooped her up and placed her on his blankets. The two remained silent for some time, Pops formulating his words in his head and Whitey watching him with crossed arms and a raised eyebrow. It was hard to know where to start.
“So…” Whitey broke the awkward silence, “Is there a reason you’re being so unusually secretive? And not in the ‘all knowing father’ way.”
“Gurarara. Sharp-witted as always.”
Shifting to the side so they were facing each other he took a deep breath.
“I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind. I should have called you much, much sooner about this, but I suppose now is better then never.”
Whitey frowned. She looked uneasy, crossing her legs and staring up at him.
“Oookay…..shoot.”
“Do you remember when we first met? Even though you are known as the ice witch your eyes burned like fire. You were ready to give hell to those who kept your island in a state of fear. No hesitation except with trusting us. You were, and still are, a frightening, cold force of nature, my daughter.”
He chuckled as the memories washed over him. Whitey quirked a small smile at his praises.
“I remember being so proud to have you. I couldn't stop smiling and laughing like the young fool I was. But we both know how arrogant I could be at times when blinded by my accomplishments. I was, and still am, a product of an old era no longer suited for this time.
“I know I have not been the best father to you, because I wouldn’t give you what you rightly deserved.”
Whiteys eyes widened with shock and even more confusion as he spoke. She leaned forward to yell something but was stopped by Pop raising his hand for silence.
“Please. Allow me to speak my peace.”
Her jaw clamped shut with an audible ‘click’ of her teeth, brows furrowed and body tense. She clearly did not agree with him and was questioning why he would say such a thing, but he did not call her to have her praise him for being something he did not feel he lived up to.
Pops closed his eyes and continued, “You were always just as capable as the men on our crew. Just as fierce, just as formidable an opponent. And yet I, ever a fool, never did offer you a commander's seat. You have always been worthy of one, from the day we met you I should have had you in mind. I’m sure you and Jiru could have worked in tandem as co-commanders seeing as you are both matched for skill. But never once did the idea occur to me. I was a fool who was so caught up in the wonder of having a daughter he did not bother to think of you as anything more than that. You were a daughter, a girl who should never be pushed to fight and care for her family.
“You are so much more. A warrior born from ice with the sharpest tongue and quickest wit, clever and proud. And I know that is why you decided to leave and make your own crew and instead ally with us; Because I did not treat you with the respect and honour you have earned and deserved for years, you felt you had to go out and gather it yourself. The feeling that I unintentionally pushed you away with my ignorance will always be one of my biggest regrets. I have always been proud of you for what you have accomplished, that will never change, but I cannot help but wonder what could have been if I hadn't been blindsided by old ideals that no longer hold water.”
Opening his eyes he met Whiteys cold, blue stare. Her mouth was ajar, seemingly at a loss for words.
“Pops….” Was all she managed to say, her tone was that of disbelief and softness.
“Whitey, my dear,” He leaned down, bowing his head to her slightly, “Please forgive this old man for his transgressions.”
Whitey and him stared at one another for what felt like an eternity. He did not make any moves to sit back up, instead showing the most respect a man of his caliber could by remaining in his gesture. Whitey still was at a loss for words, yet her hand reached up and gently pressed against his forehead as if to soothe an aching beast. A smile graced her cool, pale face and her eyes warmed.
“You’ve said you pride yourself on not hanging on to the past too much, and yet here you are. I already forgave you, Edward. A long time ago. All that was over a decade ago anyway, I’m a little insulted you didn’t bring this up earlier if it’s bothered you.” She lightly teased.
“Gurararara. Well when you get older you tend to do a lot of thinking.”
They smiled at one another in silence. It felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Knowing she didn't hold anything against him for his younger selves shortcomings made him feel at ease.
“I was mad at you at first, but those feelings never got so strong I wanted out. Yes, it’s true I left and made my own crew because I felt I was under-appreciated and my skills were brushed off. But I never regretted meeting you or felt I could do better without you, which is why I proposed allyship. I felt lucky you even allowed me to do that, you weren’t too keen on family leaving the ship.”
Pops hummed and nodded as she spoke her side of the situation. If he could go back in time he would have given her the okay to fight alongside her brothers more, her own division or co-commander status, whatever it was she felt she deserved he would have etched it into their dynamics. He would always be protective, but it was to a smothering fault when she was still among the crew on the Moby Dick. Though she would always heed his call as her captain, it was better this way. She was worthy of her title as captain, she didn’t need him to stand up for her to make that clear to any who mocked her.
“I have to say though, it’s nice to hear it from the old shipwrecker himself.” Whitey joked, gently hitting his chin.
Pops laughed as he sat up straight, readjusting his position to be leaning back against the headboard.
“Is that what people are calling me these days? ‘Shipwrecker’?”
The tense atmosphere had melted away as did the cold look in Whiteys eyes, a feeling of deep care and familial affection replacing it. The two captains talked late into the evening about small things, paperwork and territory discussions being forgotten for the time being. They talked about their ships, their family, silly or strange happenings that occurred for them both. When Thatch had come to warn them about the final call for booze they both agreed to a mug, much to his surprise.
Whitey wouldn’t rip him a new one for drinking himself stupid, just for tonight.

In the distance the sun rises. Whatever fandom.
oh god. definitely something really really sad, with just a hint of something happy at the very end.
it would probably be about the aftermath of a major character death.
since this is where my head’s at right now, i think the aftermath of the Paramount War in One Piece.
The island of Marineford, once a proud symbol of hope for the scared and vulnerable people of the world, now lays in ruins.
They say they fight for peace, they say they want to eradicate the evil pirates of the world, who do nothing but pillage and rape and murder innocents
But what happened on this island on that day, what happened when one of their great heroes murdered a young man in cold blood before the eyes of his desperate little brother....that wasn’t justice.
When their Fleet Admiral stood on that platform and monologued to the entire world that Portgas D Ace’s greatest crime in life was being born.
When a father went to war to have his son returned to him, and ended up dying to give the tattered remnants of his family a hope at escape.
When the Marines had achieved everything they set out to do, and all the pirates were scrambling to escape with their lives, and the soldiers chased after them with bloodlust in their eyes and hatred in their hearts.
When a young recruit, barely out of boyhood, was the only one on the side of the “good guys” to cry for the dead and beg for peace.
None of that was justice.
The island of Marineford lays in ruins, a relic of a bygone era.
The sky above is a blanket of stormy grey clouds, and the world waits for dawn to come.
In another part of the grand line, on an uninhabited island blanketed in wildflowers, two pirate crew gather in peace.
Together they erect the graves of the strongest man in the world, and the son he fought for to his dying breath.
The pirates work through their grief and pain, through the broken bones and oozing gashes, until finally the faint light of dawn washes over the landscape.
Finally, Whitebeard and Ace are laid to rest.
And in the distance, the sun rises.
ask game: send me a fic title and i’ll tell you what i’d write for it

Battle for the Ocean’s Hearts
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A/N: I am so sorry for the late update this was originally supposed to be updated last week, unfortunatly I got sick and was unable to update so I am sorry about that but anywhore here it is my new ASL marine Au fic ^^ also since everyone wanted it I have gone with the first choice where Law is a captain and Zoro and Nami are a part of his crew. I may one day write a version of Law being Doflamingo’s right hand man but for now we will use this version ^^. okay enough of my babbling let’s get on with the show
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Summary: Ace, Sabo, and Luffy become Marines. While Garp is happy his grandsons are Marines he’s not happy to see the first commander of the Whitebeard pirates, the captain of the infamous Heart Pirates, and his son’s second in command trying to get with his grandsons and turn them into pirates.
Chapter 1: Garp’s gamble
He’d be the first to admit that he was not meant to be around children, especially with the way Dragon turned out. Seriously? The most wanted man in the world as well as becoming leader of the Revolutionary army? Garp’s fist of Love may or may not have caused the poor boy some brain damage or maybe he was always meant to be a rebel. His teen years were a nightmare for his wife.
Either way, Dragon should be the prime example as to why he shouldn’t be around children deep down Garp felt that if he touched them he would ruin them for whatever future they would want to have.
And yet, that didn’t matter to Gol D. Roger, right before his execution Roger asked Garp for a favor and that was to take care of his son and pregnant wife. At first Garp thought the man was crazy, seriously him? Taking care of a child, and not just any child but the Pirate King’s child? He should have refused, should have told him no and give him every reason why he shouldn’t be anywhere near a child, Dragon being the prime example.
But he didn’t.
Instead he took the child in and a tiny part of him couldn’t help but wonder that he was his second chance to give this child what Roger and Rouge couldn’t and where he failed with Dragon.
When Dragon came to him and told him about his grandson, Luffy and told him to take care of Luffy Garp should have reminded him how he basically left Dragon to raise himself. Of course, he understood why he couldn’t send him to his other parent, the man was a dangerous pirate. One of the dangerous men to cross the sea so Dragon was trusting his father with the care of his son.
Garp should have smack the boy for getting involve with a pirate a Yonko no less and refuse to take care of his boy, Luffy.
But he didn’t.
Instead he took to Dadan where he left Ace so that she could take care of them and thought they would be okay.
He was wrong.
Sabo another boy they met and decided he would be their brother got hurt and would have died had it not been for Shanks, Luffy’s father who saved the poor boy before he could be blasted to little pieces.
To make things worse both Makino and Dadan told him of Shanks plans to take all three boys with him. Garp decided to do the one thing that he should have done in the beginning. The one thing he should have done with Dragon when the boy became a teenager.
Take the boys back to Marineford to be Marines.
He knew it was a great risk to take since both Luffy and Ace had pirate blood flowing through the veins. Luffy with Shanks and Ace with both Roger and Rouge. Not to mention how all three of them wanted to be free and live their lives with no rules or regrets.
While he didn’t have any connection with Sabo like he did with Luffy and Ace he still felt an attachment towards the boy when he first met him. Something about the boy reminded him of Dragon.
Which is why he had to do whatever he could to save them from being hunted down like animals and being killed.
He already spoke with Sengekou and he promised that as long as Ace and Luffy stayed on the side of the Marines then neither of them would be killed and their parents would be kept a secret.
Garp would have to play his cards right especially with Luffy, since he found out his relations to Shanks, the boy was excited to have him as a father and even more excited to know he would go out to sea with him.
Still, Garp had to take a chance, a chance to save his grandsons before Death took them from him.
Taking a deep breath Garp headed towards the boys’ room and hoped for the best.
He found the boys sitting crisscrossed in the center of their room, each one with a smile on their face as they talked about going out to sea with Shanks and his crew.
“Boys,” Garp interrupted them. The boys screamed at the sound of his voice before they began to scramble to their feet to get away from him.
Garp felt his eye twitched before he grabbed them by the scruff of their necks and dropped them on their bed.
He watched as both Sabo and Luffy tried to hide behind Ace who was trying to look tough but Garp could see a little fear in him.
“Listen up brats, I am taking you all with me to Marinefort,” he said looking at them with a cold expression showing them he meant business.
“What?! Why?!” Ace shouted his fear was now replaced with anger.
“Because, I heard about Shanks and his plans to take you out to sea,”
“My dad! Hey Gramps, did you know he’s my dad?! Luffy asked, his smile was wide and bright it almost made Garp smile, almost.
“Yes, Luffy I knew. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think Shanks knew or that it matter but I was wrong, on both accounts so now I am taking you and your brothers to Marinefort where you will be train to become Marines,”
“Why would we want that?” Sabo asked, he owe Shanks his life for saving him, as well as bringing him back to his brothers so why would he give up the opportunity to explore the world and be free?
Garp took a deep breath, he knew what he was doing, that he was about to manipulate these boys but if it meant that they will live to be his age then Garp would gladly lie to them.
“Because brats, I’m trying to protect you three,”
He looked at Ace who’s mask of ferocity turned to terror as he realized what Garp was about to say next.
“Ace, they found out the truth about you, I don’t know how but they know who you are and who’s your father,”
Okay that was a lie, it was Garp who told them, but Ace did not have to know that.
“They said they would come here to arrest you, I however spoke with Sengeku, only he knows and I was able to struck a deal with him if you become a Marine then nothing will happen. You won’t be hunted down and will get a chance to live,”
Ace looked scared the mere thought that someone outside of his family knowing his secret and that they will hunt him down frighten him. The thought that they can come here and hurt him…thoughts of Luffy and Sabo getting hurt because of him invaded his mind.
Images of their bodies covered in blood, their screams calling for help clouded his head. He would do anything for his brothers even if it meant becoming a Marine.
“If…if I become a Marine…Luffy and Sabo will be okay?”
Inside Garp’s heart was breaking especially with seeing the look of fear and defeat on his grandson but he had to remain strong,
“It’s for their own good, I need to protect them in any way that I can,”
“Yes,”
Ace nodded his head, he grabbed his orange hat, the one Luffy and Sabo gave him for his birthday and placed it on his lap.
“Okay…I’ll…I’ll become a marine,”
Sabo and Luffy looked at Ace, their brother was trying to protect them shouldering the weight of the world on his shoulder and doing whatever he can to save his brothers.
Luffy and Sabo looked at one another they couldn’t let Ace do this alone, sure they could become pirates but…then they would run into Ace…and they would have to fight each other…not like their training sessions but an actual physical confrontation and that was something they didn’t want to do.
They knew what they had to do, even if it meant giving up their dreams, they would do it, for Ace they would sacrifice everything for him.
Garp looked at Luffy and Sabo who removed their hats before looking at their laps.
“So, will we,” they said.
Garp couldn’t help but smile a little on the inside, however…he felt a piece of him die.

Biggest Coal Getters At Christmas In One Piece
Tumblr media
As you know from this blog, I rag on the most hated characters in One Piece. At at this merry Christmas time, I want to show you all the biggest coal getters in this series.
12.  Stelly
With being such an arrogant, self-important, entitled, and asshole brat, Sabo’s adoptive brother, Stelly, makes the first on the list on our naughty list. One has to feel sorry for the Gao kingdom for being ruled over such a spoiled king, who even thinks he can order Garp around because he’s originally from there.
Tumblr media
11.  Wapol
Another king on this list, but one who also is the president of his own toy company is Wapol. Like Stelly he was quite a horrible ruler when he was ruling Drum Kingdom, especially when he left the island to fend for itself when Blackbeard invaded and horded all the doctors so he could force people to pay high prices for them. Though he is currently living high now with his new kingdom gifted by the World Nobles, Santa still is going to leave a nice lump that fits his dark heart.
Tumblr media
10. Judge
Just like with the earlier two entries, we have another asshole ruler and this one is the father of Strawhat member, Sanji. The ruler of the Germa 66, a seafaring kingdom that is notorious for conquering islands and being paid assassins, he is a social darwanist, who caused great abuse to Sanji throughout his childhood because he turned out normal. The only reason why he wanted Sanji back into his life was to cement an alliance with Big Mom by offering him as a groom for her daughter, Pudding, which turned out to be a trap because the Yonko planned to kill him and the other Vinsmokes off to get their technology. And at the wedding when the Big Mom Pirates’ true colors are showed, all that previous super macho bravado is melted away to reveal a sniveling coward who cries when someone puts him into the situation that he put others under. And for that the Germa clones will shoveling a lot of coal for a while.
Tumblr media
9. Spandam
This guy is the poster child on why we should have anti-neoptism laws. A snively cowardly shit Spandam when he was head of the CP9 tortured Robin all the while she was under his captivity, while arrogantly believing his CP agents were untouchable. He also has little regard for human life when he accidentally triggered the buster call and didn’t care that his subordinates could die. He even called them needed sacrifices. He was also the reason why Tom, Iceburg and Franky’s mentor, was killed due to a frame up job he did in order to obtain the Pluton from him. It’s a bit karmic seeing him be forced to take orders from his former subordinate, Lucci, but even then the clumsy klutz should trip on his black pile of gifts he will get.
Tumblr media
8. Hody Jones
Think Arlong, but with none of his few redeeming qualities. Although Hody can be said to be a product of his environment, he’s still a nasty racist shit, who should rot in the jail cell he was put in at the end of his starring arc. With his New Fishman Pirates, they planned on taking over the kingdom and go to Reverie where they planned to massarce everyone there. However, the worst thing he’s done is assassinate Queen Otohime, because she dared to try to aim to bring peace between humans and seafolk. If you think there can be a reason for his racism, then he would answer it himself: “nothing”. Nothing happened to him to make him hate humans personally he just grew up with the toxic belief that hating humans was justified. And for that Hody spends Christmas in a jail cell, while sharing it with the number of coals that can keep him and the other withered New Fishman Pirates company.
Tumblr media
7. Mother Carmel
To the world (and to this day, Big Mom), Mother Carmel was a saintly figure who fostered peace between humans and giants plus opened up an orphanage for children of all races. However, underneath that facade lied a wicked slaver, who pretended to be a grandmotherly figure in order to sell children to the highest dollar. Her famed action of stopping the Elbaf crew from being executed was a staged event in order to gain the trust of the giants. Her most notable so-called prized asset was Charlotte Linlin (who would later become Big Mom), who to this day doesn’t know her foster mother never truly loved her and saw her as merchandise to be sold. Even though she’s a deceased character, she certainly deserves to have her stockings filled to the brim with stone, cold coal.
Tumblr media
6. Blackbeard
Although he’s more of a love to hate example, we all know that Blackbeard deserves to be on this list. For one thing, if you want to know why the post-timeskip is chaotic as it is it’s thanks to this guy. He for years pretended to be a loyal member of Whitebeard’s crew and acted like one of the family knit setting. However, it’s all an at to get at the Yami Yami No Mi/Dark Dark Fruit. He killed one of his own brothers/crewmates, then went off to form his own crew where he fought Ace and got him handed over to the Marines, so that he could become a Warlord and get into Impel Down. There during the breakout he recruited level six members to his crew, then used them to kill his former captain and father figure Blackbeard. And postimeskip he has been shown to now be hunting down devil fruit users for his fellow crew. There is a reason why people say he’s the anti-Luffy and what a real non-romanticized pirate is like. So, I have a feeling Santa will be stopping by on Hive Island with some hefty packages that could fit his namesake.
Tumblr media
5. Ceasar Clown
Although he’s shown as a butt monkey after his first appearance, the record of his misdeeds cannot be forgotten. On his island he kept children captive after a mole in the marines lied to their parents about them dying at sea, which he then proceeded to experiment on them with drugged candy which made them grow giant sized and shorten their live spans. All the while pretending he was actually curing them when he couldn’t give a shit. He also is notorious for making chemical weapons of mass destruction which is used by amoral individuals like the Beast Pirates. In other words, Santa strap this asshole to a big lump of coal and drown him.
Tumblr media
4. Doflamingo
One of the most popular villians in the series is Donquixote Doflamingo, former Warlord, top broker, and King Of Dressrosa. Man, you could have a long list of all the shit he’s pulled throughout his career and life. On the outside he might look like a gaudy Elton John rip off, but on the inside bleeds one of the scariest and ruthless characters in the series. No wonder because he was born of the World Nobles, who are a sociopathic and psychotic bunch. From his take over to Dressrosa to funding Ceasar Clown’s research, he certainly can make you scared of the color pink. And that is why we have to heep this birds feathers with a black sheen.
Tumblr media
3. Orochi
While Doffy is pretty to look at and is flamboyantly fun, Orochi just embodies “hate sink” stereotypes. He’s just made to be obvious that this guy is not going to be a good person. Spoilers ahead: I know he was influenced into becoming an asshole but he is still an asshole who sold out his country for his own benefit. Not to mention currently it was shown he was heavily implied to be the one who killed Suriyaki and lied to everyone about being named a successor with the help of that strange woman. His 20 years of terror have caused nothing but hurt to everyone under his rule as he causes a famine due to the occupying forces of the Beast Pirates. All of his because he believed he was entitled like his grandfather to be Shogun. He also wastes food, as his country is starving and feeds a whole village of hungry people failed “Smiles” so that they can quit crying about their dead loved ones. I know Santa would know of a way to get into this closed off country, so that he can deliver this shistain a coal that is as big as a mountain.
Tumblr media
2. Kaido
Here is the man of thousand beasts and leader of the Beast pirates. Even though Blackbeard himself is no saint, he doesn’t seem to want to destroy the world like Kaido does. An unstoppable juggernaut, he sees suicide as a way to kill boredom and is often on his ass drunk. He’s ruled over Wano through Orochi for 2 decades, as he has decimated it into a famine wide place except the capitol where the rich and his toadie lives. He uses the land to function his own war effort and has caused many of the Wano people to go through great periods of grief. Like with Blackbeard, he’s an unromanticed version of what a pirate is really like. So, Kaido be prepared for Onigashima to reign coal like it’s no tomorrow.
Tumblr media
1. World Nobles (Celestial Dragons)
Tumblr media
By default, you know these shitty bastards would top the list. The biggest reason because of the fact that they are above the law and are allowed to do anything they like because they are so-called “gods”. They treat the general population like crap, while blatantly owning slaves when it was supposed to have been illegalized 2 centuries ago. They are also supported by a thing called heavenly tribute which country of the world government has to give continuously, lest they get kicked out and have no way of defending themselves from pirates or slave traffickers. So I can say the biggest coal getters go to these fat pigs in their towers. Better yet they should coal statues made in (dis)honor of them.

551-552: "The Battle Is On! At Conchchorde Plaza!" and "A Surprising Confession! The Truth Behind the Assassination of Otohime!"
Tumblr media
I KNEW IT!!
I knew that scumbag Hordy was behind Otohime’s assassination! Oh, I only wish I’d been a fan while these chapters were being released so I could have made a bet with someone. Then again... everyone reading at that time probably knew too. I mean the flags were vast and red.
As soon as I saw the title for 552 flash up, I thought, “Yes. This is it. Hordy is gonna confess.”
Was not disappointed.
And that wasn’t all. The reveals kept coming. The circumstances of the assassination? Check. Madame Sharley’s family? Check. 30,000 hidden human slaves? Double check. Plus, I finally know what Noah is (yes, it is a “what” and not a “who”). And it is currently being controlled by Decken who has finally gone off the deep end.
Why Does Hordy Look Like He’s About to Judge Someone on a Talent Show?
Tumblr media
Have to say, I forgot to mention something in the last post. Neptune brought up an inconvenient truth about the Fish Roids. Those rad pills that grant you super strength? They come packed with horrendous side-effects. Namely: they take years off your life.
Maybe that’s why Hordy has snow white hair now as well as a water shoot attack that can fell buildings and destroy royal army squadrons.
Episode 551 served pretty much to build Hordy’s threat potential as a villain. And boy it was done in quick time. By the end of 551, he had strung up Neptune, decimated the royal army, the royal ministers and had defeated all three princes.
I kind of hate Hordy’s guts right now, so it was nice to see the islanders so concerned for their beloved king, shielding children’s eyes as the execution convoy flew past. Neptune’s guard tried to take a stand, but Neptune told them to run, not to die a meaningless death. See, that’s the difference between a good king and Hordy (I refuse to call him a king. He ain’t crowned yet). Neptune cares for his people and they respect and care from him in turn.
At the plaza, Hordy’s Head Goons assembled. Brave islanders climbed the walls because they wanted to rescue Neptune. They had prime seats for the upcoming show.
By the time they had scaled the fence, Hordy had cleared out the royal guard and installed himself on a giant pink beanbag throne. Neptune was trussed up to a St Andrew’s style cross. No idea if there’s any symbolism there, but Andrew was called a “fisher of men”. Maybe it’s just the whole martyrdom thing. Being willing to die for the peaceful ideals of Otohime. Or maybe Oda just thought, “Yeah.... saltire crosses. That’ll do.”
One poor soldier tried to pull off a suicide attack. If he could just take out one of the Head Goons before the princes arrived, it would aid the rescue effort. But the merciless hype machine ground its gears and the solider became fodder for Hordy’s power up.
It was an impressive power up. Just the normal water shoot bullet but ramped up to eleven. BOOM! It blasted through walls, buildings, rock formations and only lost momentum miles away at Mermaid Cove. I thought, “This guy really is a scumbag. He’s just wreaking havoc and destroying things because, lel, this is fun and I have the power now.”
Then the princes arrived. I finally remember all of their names! Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi and Manboshi. Better late than never. The spectators on the wall cheered. The princes were here! King Neptune would be saved! Hurrah! The princes declared, “WE WILL SAVE YOU, FATHER!”
I felt like Madame Sharly. I could see what was coming a mile off.
Fukaboshi, because he’s going to become king someday and be fucking excellent, gave another good speech. “Why don’t you understand, Hordy Jones? You people are the weakest on this island [Hordy was triggered by this]. The other islanders were trying to ignore the history of discrimination by humans and to forgive the murder of their hero and their queen who died at the hands of a human [oh, Fukaboshi...]. They endured their pain to change their future and sign their names. Why can’t you appreciate the boldness and kindness of their decision?”
Because he’s Fishler, that’s why. You can’t reason with Fishler types. You could say, “Well, remember that chap Whitebeard? He was an alright human, wasn’t he?” and a Fishler would shriek, “NO, HE WAS JUST PRETENDING! WHITEBEARD WAS FAKE NEWS!” Or, “Have you ever been to the surface, Fishler?” and they would reply, “NO, BUT I DON’T NEED TO.” (I think Hordy has because he’s a pirate, but the attitude’s the same).
I don’t know why they talk in caps. But
Now, the annoying thing about Hordy’s goons beating down the princes was that those boys are actually no slouches. Were it not for the Roids, they could easily have kicked ass.
But Hordy claimed they would never lose, as the had been, and I quote, “given great power from above.” From above? As in the surface? Now that’s suspicious. Who has been supplying these Fishmen with Roids? I half expect Vegapunk to be involved somehow.
At any rate, the Head Goons showed their stuff. Roided up, they were faster, stronger and crushed the princes. And they were strung up alongside their dad.
And It Gets Worse
Tumblr media
No, not just because of the crowd of Hordy’s followers baying for blood.
Back at the Sea Forest... the fight between Jimbei and Luffy had been off-panelled.
This, I think, is weird. We did not get to see Luffy in a mangled, defeated state. We never got to see Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Robin or Franky. All we heard was Jimbei saying, “Phew, he gave me a hard time,” before he escorted Shirahoshi back towards the palace.
Except that didn’t work out because they thought a balloon version of Neptune was the real thing and were netted and dragged off to the plaza. (I am suspicious of the lack of Luffy, so I kind of hope this is a roundabout scheme from Jimbei. Schemes wouldn’t work with Luffy but maybe Jimbei’s clever enough to steer him in the right direction and count on Luffy being Luffy to sort things out in the end).
Hordy was pleased at the special delivery of Jimbei, Shirahoshi and Megalo. Before that, he didn’t want to kill his hostages until Shirahoshi was lured to the plaza. It’s her power to call Sea Kings that he feared most and other than Neptune, she is the one he wants dead most. It was also the only reason he teamed up with Decken. (Now it makes sense! I thought Hordy only wanted a way into the palace.)
The poor audience of islanders on the walls, though... they were distraught. It was like a quadruple whammy of gut punches. First Neptune, then the princes, and now Jimbei and their beloved princess Shirahoshi. I mean, I’d wager Jimbei is almost as much of a legendary figure as Fisher Tiger nowadays. To see him brought so low must be truly shocking (still hoping it’s a ploy).
Now Hordy’s only concern is what the Strawhats will do. He guessed they’d return to the palace, free Zoro, Usopp and Brook. But he had some surprise guests waiting for them...
Yes, that’s right! 30,000 human slaves Hordy caught! Plus another 70,000 armed thugs (fodder for Strawhats). “One hundred thousand outlaws together!” he crowed. I guess this proves Hordy can perform basic addition.
I mean, there were a few female and child slaves along with the male ones, but they would be taken care of later. And I don’t think he means given a hot meal and a roof over their heads. :|
Madame Sharly Steps Up
Tumblr media
This is when the episode got Extra Juicy.
Madame Sharly stepped up, spoke up and got Hordy so wound up he snapped and went completely off the rails in public.
“You fools are a dishonour. Horsing around in public. You kids have no class at all. Don’t push your luck. I just wanted to say one thing to you since you’re at the height of your glory: a man will destroy Fishman Island.”
“Wasn’t it me you saw?” Hordy said, modestly.
Bad news, Hordy. “No. The man who will destroy it is Strawhat Luffy. I can’t tell what he’ll do specifically. But it is not you. The one who will determine the fate of Fishman Island is not you, Hordy Jones.”
Well...
Let’s just say this news was not received positively.
As Madame Sharly is another legendary figure in Fishman Island, her not backing Hordy’s rise to power was disastrous PR. Even the goons were freaking out. “Omg, that means Hordy will never gain control of Fishman Island. Her predictions are accurate!”
The Hordy stepped up and slapped the crap out of Madame Sharly.
Forget what I said last post about not wanting Luffy to come and sort shit out.
Get down here now because this guy needs taken down a peg.
I was so enraged by Hordy’s obvious threatened response to Madame Sharly that when he revealed she was ARLONG’S SISTER (WTF??) I barely heard it and had to rewind and watch it again. He also bare face admitted to her he was only using the Arlong Pirates name to unite people under his banner.
Properly triggered by Sharly’s lack of support, he went on a mad, Roid-Rant, yelling that HE was the ONLY ONE who could take over Fishman Island. His scheme is ten years in the making! He had the power to do it. ONLY HIM. OH, AND BY THE WAY, YOU KNOW THAT QUEEN YOU ALL LOVED SO MUCH?
Tumblr media
I think this is Hordy’s biggest mistake. Some of you guys in the comments for the last post talked about Luffy sorting out Fishman issues not being a problem because would Hordy really have many supporters to resent Luffy?
After this, I am convinced he won’t have any. Because those islanders on the wall? They were enraged.
While Hordy had his villainous, “YES, IT WAS ME!” moment, a flashback revealed he did pay a human to be involved in the assassination. At first, I thought Hordy just paid the human pirate to shoot her. Was shocked but no surprised to learn that he hated Otohime so much that he wanted to pull the trigger himself. The human accessory only set fire to the petitions.
Hordy has gone so far off the deep end with the lack of Sharly support that he forgot that triggering Shirahoshi has geological scale consequences.
“Don’t you think she was annoying?” he said straight to Shirahoshi’s face. “She begged everyone not to seek revenge against humans but to be friends with them instead. She was bugging me because she’d almost accomplished her goal. I wasn’t satisfied with just killing her. [No of course you weren’t...] To me, your mother was someone who deserved death. I came up with the idea to make the best of her death, that would allow me to stoke the fire of hatred towards humans, that Fishmen citizens once had, and destroy the islanders’ stupid dream once and for all! I’d frame a human for killing her. You were all fooled exactly as I hoped. She was worth killing, right, Shirahoshi? She wasn’t killed by a human. She was killed by me. I, a kinsman, did it.”
I thought the earthquakes would start and the Sea Kings would begin, slowly, to stretch it out over several episodes, to swim towards Fishman Island.
But no.
The twist was even better!
Shirahoshi turned to Hordy and said, “I already knew.”
WHAT THE---?
Honestly, I was as shocked as Jimbei. Even Hordy was dumbfounded.
I cannot wait to find out how Shirahoshi knew. I mean, if she knew and didn’t tell anyone, that’s a pretty big ball to drop, you know?
Oh, and I forgot to mention this guy...
Decken: King of the Incels
Tumblr media
This is some next-level creepy madness, let me tell you. Especially when the news only a couple days ago reported that some incel just shot up a yoga studio because “women”.
I mean, Decken has a neckbeard and is even wearing a Fedora. It’s like Oda had a vision of the future and turned it into a pirate because the reality was just too weird.
Anyway, Decken has also gone off the deep end, and has adopted a: “If I Cannot Have Her, Everyone Will Die” mindset. To achieve this, he has brought to life an ship called Noah built by Fishmen “a while ago” (hmm.... seems older than that, but I’ll run with it.
I’m half thinking Noah could it be one of those Pluton-like weapons because the ship is half the size of Fishman Island, apparently. Great for ramming into a protective bubble and killing everyone in it, eh? Woo hoo! What a great guy!

In your fic/idea thing about everyone thinking Ace et al are Dragon's kids, what was Shanks reaction? To well, everything (including the WBP 'recruitment' efforts)
That would be Rumour, Slander, Hearsay and it’s… hard to say. Because in this ‘verse? Nobody except Garp knows for certain that Ace is Roger’s son. Everyone except for Dragon and Garp thinks Ace is Dragon’s kid, and while Dragon has suspicions about Ace’s parentage… he never confirms it. Because Ace is Dragon’s son now. So there, World Government Propaganda Machine, Dragon’s onto your wiles and he will protect his kids from your nasty rumourmongering.
Now, what this means, in regards to Shanks, is that his relationship with Ace (who Shanks does in fact get to meet as a child while on Dawn Island in this ‘verse) is only as strong as what develops during their interactions. Which, considering how Shanks is essentially D-bait plus Luffy being part of the equation… is pretty damn strong. Even without the currently unknown connection they have to one another through Roger.
So once Ace sets out to sea he’s probably going to have pretty regular contact with Shanks, for the given value of “regular”. Especially since it seems like Grand Line Pirates tend to go a decade or more without contacting friends or relatives unless they end up at the same port of call by sheer coincidence. Only that won’t fly with Ace, because in this ‘verse ASL have a goal beyond “get strong and wreck shit”. Which is, to summarize in a word, “freedom.”
All three of the ASL are influenced by Dragon’s philosophies in this ‘verse and contribute to the Revolution in their own ways. Luffy is going to be Pirate King and is cheerfully playing the part of the wrecking ball on the established world order as he goes. Sabo is the only one who is a Revolutionary in name, but he’s also going to “disguise” himself as a pirate as part of collecting information and going on missions for the Revolutionary Army. Ace is going to have a vendetta against slavers and the World Nobles, which will involve him burning down a lot of auction houses and sinking a lot of “Marine Escort” ships.
So Ace tends to get in touch with Shanks about relocating rescued slaves to the New World or the four Blues fairly frequently. Especially since Koala has informed the ASL about what happens when rescued slaves are returned to the homes they were taken from. Ace happens to be enjoying his life thanks, so it’s the Grand Line Witness Protection Program for the lot of them without exceptions. Which leads to Ace and Shanks having frequent arguments over which of them the “Freedom Trail Armada” belongs to. Ace insists it’s Shanks’ Pirate Armada because Shanks is the Yonko here and also they mostly operate in Shanks’ territory. Shanks insists that they’re Ace’s Pirate Armada because the only reason the Freedom Trail exists is because Ace has a grudge and the ability to set himself on fire at will.
Joke’s on them both because everyone else just assumes that Ace is going to take over as the “Roaming Emperor” when Shanks settles down. Which is… not an inaccurate assumption for them to make.
Anyway, in this ‘verse the reason Ace challenges Whitebeard is because he needs an excuse to lie low for awhile and maybe pretend to be dead because he might have set the entire Auction House sector of Shabody on fire and maybe a few World Nobles got their bubble-domes broken and they may or may not have expired due to smoke inhalation. So yeah. Anyway. Let’s challenge the Strongest Man in the World to a Captain’s Match! Then it’ll be totally understandable if we disappear from view for a few months because everyone will just assume Whitebeard killed us!
It’ll be fine! Shanks says Whitebeard is a decent guy, and a Captain’s Match has rules. Whitebeard is a Peacemaine so we can even mostly trust him not to cheat in a way that will actually kill us! It’s a good plan!
Which is the bit where things go really sideways. Because Whitebeard really is a good guy, and Ace really would have been fine coming out of an honest Captain’s Match with him. Only somehow the rumour starts that Ace wants to “take Whitebeard’s head”, which leads to Jimbei showing up. Jimbei, who works for the World Government. Ace would really rather avoid being horribly tortured until he finally dies to escape the pain, thanks. So they fight, and Ace fights to win because if Ace loses he knows that he and the Spades are going to suffer.
Jimbei, of course, has no idea what’s going through Ace’s head. He just thinks Ace is violent and savage and wants to kill Whitebeard. Thus we see the five-day running battle take place. Ace wins against Jimbei, only to be ambushed by the Whitebeard Pirates and taken captive. Commence the 100 days of assassination attempts and Ace’s isolation from everything and everyone he knows and loves.
Dragon, Shanks, and Sabo are all unaware that Ace’s plan to lie low has hit a little snag. When Ace drops out of sight after rumours of him fighting Whitebeard start to circulate they assume things are still on track. Luckily for Ace, he had plans to meet up with Sabo for some brotherly bonding time after making sure nobody was tracking him after confronting Whitebeard. Plus, Sabo has Ace’s vivre card and when it keeps smoking even 50 days after Ace drops out of sight Sabo starts getting worried. So Sabo tracks Ace down and finds him being kept prisoner on the Moby Dick without any of the Spades in sight. Ace’s ship is also nowhere to be seen, which is a big red alarm for Sabo.
This is when Dragon gets called in. Ace is rescued by his father and his brother, leaving the Moby Dick behind without a second glance. Dragon forces Whitebeard to return Ace’s ship and crew and exacts a promise to never “take slaves” again. Which has all of the Whitebeard Pirates cringing, because they don’t. They’re a family. But Dragon is merciless because Ace is his son. Ace is Dragon’s son and Whitebeard had ignored the fact that Ace had told him “no, I don’t want to join you”. Plus the daily beatings and borderline starvation.
“A good father.” Dragon snarls in a voice of quiet threat. “Does not ignore a child so desperate to escape they commit twice daily assassination attempts!”
So Dragon takes his sons and leaves a very chastised Yonko and crew behind him. After spending a few days thinking over what had just happened, Whitebeard calls a family meeting and puts measures in place to prevent the situation they tripped into with Ace from happening again. Which is great. It’s fantastic. Good on Whitebeard for acknowledging his mistakes and taking steps to learn from them!
Only that doesn’t stop the repercussions of what Whitebeard did to Ace from falling on him and his crew. One of those repercussions? Happens to be a visit from a very angry Shanks. Who wants to know what the fuck kind of drugs Newgate is on that he thinks kidnapping and torturing the kid Shanks considers one of his little brothers/protege is okay.
The news gets around that Whitebeard did something to anger Shanks, and some of the worst of the rumours imply that Whitebeard was caught taking slaves. And Whitebeard’s reputation takes a hit, because sure. They’re a family. Who are all branded with Newgate’s mark. Uh-huh. They’re all there of their own will. Sure, that’s believable. Lot’s of Pirate Captains like the idea of following another man’s orders. Mmhm.
For his part, Shanks says nothing about or to Whitebeard for years after yelling at the old man about Ace. Which really doesn’t help Whitebeard clear up the rumours.
Anyway there’s something of a Family Reunion in the aftermath of the rescue where Ace gets cuddled and fussed over by everyone. Shanks and Luffy do most of the cuddling. Dragon and Sabo do most of the fussing. Koala mostly takes a lot of pictures because this shit is adorable. Dadan may or may not mutter threats against Whitebeard’s continued masculinity when she thinks nobody’s listening.
Ace gets better and goes back to what he was doing before, and Shanks goes back to being vastly entertained by Ace’s everything. And if Shanks is maybe a bit more conscious of timelines, a little bit more strict about checking in regularly? Well. Nobody mentions it.

Hi! How are You? Are your requests still open? Can i request a headcanon? I would love some fluff when Ace announces his wife is pregnant (wife is also a strong fighter of the Whitebeard pirates) and how Sabo, Luffy, Garp, Whitebeard, Dadan and Makino would react to it! (Bonus of Shanks and Makino are married and we hear Shanks teasing😁) thank you! Have a great day! Have some cake! 🎂🍰🎂
Wow this one was in my ask box for a while! I’m sorry I’m finally writing this you poor soul had to wait forever T^T Also thank you for the cake~!Sabo:
- “W-What..? You’re going to be a father!?”- He’s both really excited and horrified because Ace can be a moron sometimes- He’s definitely going to give Ace a ton of books and is going to stress him out- Sabo is more of a nervous mother than Ace’s wife- Definitely gonna be an awesome uncle
Luffy:
-“Huh? A kid? WOAH YEAH!I’M GONNA BE AN UNCLE!!”- He’s happy for his brother and wonder if he’s having a boy or a girl- Rambles and rambles on what he’ll do with his future niece/nephew- It makes Ace’s wife worry because Luffy is the type of guy to give a baby a drumstick- But damn he sure does try and to make Ace’s wife comfortable he’ll ask her to teach him some stuff
Garp:
- “ HAHAHA THAT’S MY BOY! That’s fantastic news! Your kid is going be strong just like their parents!”- He shows a huge grin but on the inside he’s kinda nervous because he doesn’t knwo what’ll happen- But regardless, he gives Ace a pat on the back and is thrilled to meet the baby- He’s definitely gonna talk to Ace about what it’s like to be a dad- Bless him he starts to gwt nervous like Sabo, but then it all fades when he sees the expecting parents together “Yeah..that kid will be fine”
Whitebeard:
-“Oh what wonderful news! Congrats you two!”- As happy as Garp, if not happier since his family is growing bigger- He lets out a hearty laugh and pats Ace on the head, teasing him and goofing off a little- “If you two ever need anything, don’t hesitate and ask me alright?”- He has a good time but as soon as his head hits the pillow that night he thinks about all the ‘what ifs’ poor man didn’t get any sleep that night
Dadan:
- “Well it’s about damn time you two have a family! God I thought you two would never bring a little brat into this world”- She’s not the best at news like this but she really does hope for the best- She hoenstly hopes Ace becomes a better parent than she was to him- After a few minutes, she leaves and goes back to her criminal ways not really caring- Yeah she’s not a great character for something so sweet like this
Makino:
-“ Oh congratulations~! Do you know when you two are expecting?”- She’s the best person to go to for anything after the baby is born and she makes it known- Makino is thrilled to bits and wishes them the best of luck- She even gives Ace’s wife a small handknit blanket “This was mine, I want you two tk have it! It’s a good luck token”- She has the biggest smile in the world and will for the next few days

Chosen Path: Chapter Two
Chapter 2: The Underworld
Seventeen years had passed since the Pirate King's execution and in those years, chaos and all its friends ruled the world. It has been said that the Pirate King's death was their undoing, because what followed afterwards was disaster. But as it was, history tended to repeat itself; humans tended to never learn, especially the nobles. The more gangs rose up, the more the nobles wanted them gone, even going so far as to burn the people alive. The most dangerous place to be was Edge Town in Goa Kingdom; there the nobles had plotted many times to eliminate the dirty scum that lived there. Everyone in that town was considered a criminal, a gangster. Even children were looked upon with disgust. Truly, Goa Kingdom was the one kingdom that was leading the extermination of non nobility. Those living in Edge Town who weren't strong enough or smart enough were eliminated quickly. But still, even then gangs kept coming and coming to this kingdom to find the legendary treasure left by the Pirate King.
Out of those gangs, it was said that three of the four strongest lived in Goa Kingdom, while the fourth was the ruler of their own country. The most powerful gang was the Whitebeard Gang, their leader being Whitebeard himself. They were said to be the closest to reaching the One Piece. The second and third of the four were said to be tied. Was that true? No one actually knew, but no one would ever rise up to challenge these two powerhouses. The Red Haired Gang and the Beast Gang, just one look from them had even the bravest people running. The Red Haired Gang were lead by Red Haired Shanks, a one armed man who was said to be a monster even with one arm. The Beast Gang were lead by Kaido of the Beasts, this man was said to be immortal. Nevertheless, almost no one had ever challenged them. The last strongest gang was the Big Mom gang, lead by Big Mom, Charlotte Linlin. Their base was on Whole Cake Island, a country that Big Mom had taken over.
These four monsters were called the Yonko. Each of these Yonko have territories all over the world, including in the town of Edge Town. Edge Town is a mostly lawless area, though in the recent decade that has changed; the Yonko have become the protectors of their areas. However, Edge Town had been split into five parts, not four; the last area was known as a completely lawless area, which was where all of the other gangs had their bases. Edge Town was set up like that so that the Yonko wouldn’t be pissed off by the activities of the lesser gangs; in reality almost no gang wanted to fight these beasts. Even the government feared them greatly and would surely think twice about going against them. Though, the question still remained whether the government and marines were willing to stand by and let one of these Yonko become the Pirate King. If not, then would they even have a slim chance of beating them or would destruction be their path?

Luffy licked his lips as the delicious aroma flowed into his nostrils and bolted up in bed with drool going down his chin. "Meat!" He cried out as he looked around his room searching for the delicious food that he was sure was there, only to pause in confusion when he saw that he didn’t actually wake up in his own room. "Where am I?" He didn’t remember going out last night, but then again he didn’t really remember a lot of things that he did. Something caught the boy's eye, making him tilt his head and study the object. "Oh, I know!" He remembered as he stared at the photograph of Ace and himself when they little. "This must be Ace's room." He had a nightmare last night and crawled into his big brothers bed out of fear; said big brother of course let him in without a problem. His big brother was such a great guy!
Sitting up, he threw his legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. He was ready to face the day! Well, almost. He looked down and sighed when he saw that he was still in his pajamas. There was no way he could go to Edge Town looking like that! He would probably get mugged or at least threatened there. Shaking his head, he headed off to his own room across the hallway and went straight into his closet. On the left side, there were all these stuffy noble suits and clothes that made him wrinkle his nose in disgust. Those were the clothes that Shanks bought him and made him wear them on occasion. On the other side were the clothes that both Ace and he picked out for their casual wear. Going straight for the right side, he took out a pair of blue shorts with cuffs on them, a white tank top, and a red hoodie. Put the clothes on himself, he nodded in approval as he looked over, before going to his desk and picking up the Straw Hat on it. There's no way he would go out without it, it was his treasure after all. The treasure that Shanks had given to him the first time they met. He put the hat onto his neck like a necklace and tucked it into his hoodie. And lastly, he put on his sandals.
When he was finished, he went straight for the kitchen with a big grin on his face. "Ace, meat!" He yelled at the other make as he sat down at the kitchen table and pounded on it. "I'm so hungry!" He declared as he over at his older sibling. Said sibling just chuckled and shook his head as he continued to cook. The older boy had always taken care of him, especially when Shanks was away; he figured it was probably because of their late mother. But then again, Ace was weird sometimes. He chuckled at that thought as he continued to watch the older man. "Ne, when do you think Shanks is going to be back? He's been gone for a whole month now!" He complained as thoughts of his godfather flew into his mind. Ever since they met, the redhead had always gone on his "business" trips, though he would be gone for more than one month. He was the main caretaker for the two brothers, though Garp did stop by once in a while, especially when Shanks was away. But still, Luffy missed him a great deal.
Ace listened to his brother as he continued to make Luffy his omelet, it had everything the boy had wanted inside it. It was filled with different meats that both Shanks and their grandpa brought home after they went to the market. He didn’t know when it started exactly, but Luffy… he was his most important person in the world and seeing that bright smile on his face was worth everything. And even though he wasn’t his parent, he was hell bent on taking care of the boy no matter what challenges come their way. Luffy was the only real family he had left, besides Pops and his crew. "Here you go, Luffy. A meat omelet, enjoy!" He told his baby brother as he served both plates with their breakfast and sat down across the other boy with a smile on his face.
In reality, they had different dads, not connected by blood of course. Luffy had Shanks, the man who he considered his dad as he didn’t know his true father, and if he had anything to do with it, he never would. Ace on the other hand, he had Edward Newgate, the only man he considered his father. The man was the leader of his gang and the only person who was there when he was questioning even his entire existence. As he ate his omelet, he watched the other boy with furrowed eyebrows, hoping that the other boy wouldn’t catch on. He wondered how Luffy would feel if he found out that Ace was part of a gang, or even Shanks? He truly hoped that he wouldn’t have to find out soon. "Don’t know, but my guess is that he'll be here within a couple days. He'd never leave you alone for too long." Red Haired Shanks, he was a noble by blood, and a leader of a gang by choice. He had made the choice to become a gang leader long ago, even before they were even born and because of that, he had to travel a lot. It was a miracle that the red haired man even stayed for as long as he had. But he loved Luffy, even loved him as a son even if they weren't as close as his brother was to him. Still, Luffy loved him dearly and that’s all that really mattered.
"I hope he comes back soon!" The other boy whined as he continued to eat his food with a pout on his face. He didn’t really understand what was so important that he had to keep leaving them. He loved staying with his brother, but Shanks was important to him, as well. He was his only father figure, the only man that stayed constantly in his life since he was seven, besides his grandpa and Ace. He hoped the older man was alright wherever he was and that he came back as soon as possible. "This food is good!" He licked his lips as he ate the last piece of omelet on his plate, before he looked at his brother's plate and saw that the older boy had also finished his breakfast. He stood up from his chair and grinned as he put his hand on his hips. "Ne, Ace, I'm going to go to Edge Town, are you going to hang out with Sabo today?" Their childhood friend Sabo was like them, he hated the nobles even though he was one himself. He had always loved hanging out with the other man just as much as he loved hanging out with Ace. The three of them had many adventures together when they were young, and even now they hung out together when they weren't busy. It was too bad though, today he already made plans with his crew.
Ace smirked at the younger boy before he stood up and picked up the dishes and forks after them, moving to the sink to wash them after themselves. God knew that Luffy would never do it; he had to clean up after the kid constantly, not that it mattered much really. When he was finished he came over to the other boy and smiled as he patted the other boy's hair. "Don’t worry, when I see him, I'll make sure to let him know that you'll hang out with him next time." Truthfully, they were just going to get some lunch together and talk about things, but other than that he also had to go into Edge Town to meet up with his crew. Ace knew that Luffy had a crew of his own, when they were younger all that kid could ever talk about was becoming King of the Pirates. And even though he planned on making Whitebeard king, he wished the best for the other boy. But still… "Hey, Lu, make sure to stay away from the docks today, alright? I heard that some dangerous gangs were coming in today." These were dangerous times, especially for rookies. He didn’t want the boy getting hurt and causing trouble. There was also his identity he had to worry about; if he was ever discovered to be Monkey D. Luffy, a noble of the Monkey Family and Straw Hat Luffy, the gang leader of the Straw Hat Gang, he didn’t think that even his status as a noble would save him from the same fate that befell their uncle.
"Don't worry, Ace!" The smaller boy smiled brightly, before he turned to go towards their foyer and out the door. He pulled up his hood over his head and hid his noble insignia inside his pockets, knowing full well that this was the only way he would be able to return to his home. The guards would never let him in without it, since all of the residents of Edge Town were prohibited from entering their "paradise". He didn’t understand any of that, though. It was all just so bizarre! Why did it matter if they were nobles or not, it just didn’t make sense to him at all. Shaking his head, he got rid of his thoughts as he raced through the front door and went straight out, almost crashing into Garp who was about to come inside. "Bye, Gramps!" He yelled back at the older man as he continued to run through the town.
"Luffy?!" The old man asked in surprise as he watched his grandson leave and in those clothes, no less. It could only mean one thing. He sighed and shook his head as he went inside to find his other grandson sitting on the couch while lighting a cigarette. He walked over to the boy and sat right next to him as he eyed the two bottles of sake on the table in front of them. He really needed a drink that was for sure. "I wish that you two would have become great marines instead of becoming criminals and endangering yourselves." When that red haired gangster took the boys in, Ace was ten and Luffy was seven, he had sincerely hoped that the man wouldn’t let them become gangsters themselves. He cared about them, just as much as he cared about his son, maybe even more. But what was he to do now, he couldn’t fix the situation no matter how hard he tried. They were both members of notorious gangs, there was no way either of them would be able to become marines. Not unless they died and somehow came back to life. "Did you see Luffy's latest escapades?" He asked as he looked down on the floor.
The black haired male took a deep drag of his cigarette and closed his eyes in thought. "Look, old man, there's no way that either Luffy or I would ever be able to becomes marines. We have the blood of two demons running through our veins, the two biggest criminals in the world." Even if they did want to become marines, they would be executed just like their uncle was. Even their mother was almost put to the death, because they didn’t want Gol D. Roger's bloodline to continue. But it was all for naught, their mother died anyways after giving birth to his brother and all because of those bastards. He blamed them all for her death, especially his father. The man wasn’t even there to see their beautiful, sweet, kind mother die. No, he didn’t care enough to be there, he didn’t even care about them. When he was just a toddler, he had seen the man maybe three times? After Luffy was born, he never saw the man again. He didn’t understand how their mother could love that man at all. Speaking of his precious little brother… "Of course, that boy is something else. He has already earned a bounty of three hundred million beri, I think that calls for a celebration." He smiled at that and eyed the sake sitting on the coffee table in front of him, before picking it up and taking a swig.
Celebration, huh? He guessed that to his grandsons, a bounty was something of a reward. It was too bad that he just didn’t think that way. He was really getting too old for all of this, first his son, now these two. What Ace said about his father and uncle was true, as much as he loathed admitting it. The world had feared another pirate king from emerging, if they ever found out that someone with Roger's blood survived… well, let's just say that Dragon had the right idea of moving Rouge to Foosha Village, he just wished the woman survived the entire ordeal. Child birth was a nasty business for those living in Edge Town or other poverty stricken areas. He didn’t pity her, though. No, he pitied the sons that she left behind. After everything that happened with their family, it was these two boys that have suffered the worst for their family's sins. It was exactly why even though he severely disliked that red haired bastard that he let the man take care of the two. He had seen it with his own eyes, Shanks loved the two boys as if they were his own. He couldn’t have hoped for better and that was something that he would never admit out loud. Shanks was a great father; now if only his own son was, as well. "Ace, I've been meaning to talk to you about your father-" He started, but sighed when he was cut off.
"Don’t ever talk about him again, not in front of me or Luffy." He bit out angrily as he clutched the alcoholic drink in hand. The old man knew how he felt about that man. He was a deadbeat father and a shitty lover to boot. Nothing, but a nuisance with demon blood in his mind. He knew what he was, a revolutionary, someone who was trying to change this world. He called bullshit on that excuse, it was nothing but an excuse that he kept telling himself and others. He wasn’t even there for them, how could he expect to be there for the entire world?! Just the thought was ridiculous! And his grandfather was sitting there, trying to make up whatever excuses that he had out of his ass. Well, that wasn’t going to work. "My only father is Whitebeard and Luffy's is Shanks. And you know that, don’t play around, Old Man." He stood up and grabbed the black hoodie on the couch, before going straight for the door. "That man will never be our father!" He declared as he left, slamming the door shut on his way out.
Garp sighed as he looked up at the ceiling with a troubled and sad look on his face. "What am I going to do with them, ne, Rouge?"
x~Chosen Path~x
Walking through the gates of High Town which lead right into Edge Town, it was as though he was walking through a portal. High Town held such a beautiful outward appearance, flowers everywhere. It was truly a paradise that the nobles got to enjoy. On the other side, just as he walked through the gate with his hoodie pulled, it was the complete opposite. The buildings were torn, the ground was littered with trash everywhere, and people were sitting outside, in their torn and old, dirty clothes. Most of them were homeless and hadn't had anything to eat in days, much less hours. He could see their bones sticking out of their skin, the hollowness of their cheeks, and most frighteningly of all, the dead look in their eyes. They knew, all of them knew, that they were going to die and no one was going to help them. It was times like these that he really hated being a noble, because while he got all the luxuries and as much food as he wanted without a worry in the world, these people had absolutely nothing.
Shaking his head to get rid of his thoughts, he pulled down his hood and slipped his straw hat onto his head. There was no need to get upset; he had seen this almost every day, so it was nothing new. Though that didn’t make it right, he couldn’t do anything about it. He couldn’t exactly give these people money or food, because then he'd be found out as a noble; and if that were to happen, it would be all over. His life as Straw Hat Luffy would be finished and he wasn’t ready for that. He made a promise that he would become Pirate King and he intended to keep that promise.
Finally, seeing their hideout, his grin widened as he opened the door and entered inside. "Oi! Nami! Sanji!" He was sure that out of all of his gang members, these two would be there; it was almost guaranteed in fact. Nami lived with her sister Nojiko on Cocoyasi St. which was of course in the lawless area and had seen their own share of problems, because of that. Sanji on the other hand, had lived in the Whitebeard Gang's territory so they fared much better. His adoptive father had even owned The Baratie, a restaurant that had a reputation of being one of the best, even if it was in Edge Town. However, his adoptive father Zeff had always encouraged Sanji to follow his dreams. Licking his lips, he tilted his head when he finally spotted all eight of his gang members sitting around on the couch. "Ne, did you hear? Something exciting is happening at the docks!" His brother confirmed it, some gang was coming there and it wasn’t a small time gang either. It made him so excited to find out which gang was coming!
"Luffy!" The orange haired girl scowled at him and crossed her arms; he could practically feel the anger coming off of her. When he turned to look at the other Straw Hat members, all of them were frowning, not one person was excited as him. It made him pause and tilt his head in confusion at that. Normally, they would get annoyed, but nonetheless would go along with his plans. So, the question still remained, why not? He knew that Ace told him not to go there, but as much as he loved his big brother, the other boy was too overprotective of him sometimes. His crew members weren't supposed to be like that, they were supposed to go along with his ideas as he's the leader of his gang; and besides, what was so bad in going to check out the new gangs that were coming? "You didn’t hear? The marines are stationed at the docks and are ordered to capture any gangs they see."
He blinked in confusion as he looked around at his whole crew. "The marines?!" He couldn’t understand why the marines were even stationed at the docks, it was all so strange! Usually, the marines stayed away from both Edge Town and the docks, it was even more so particular for them to actually get orders to capture any gangs they see. The fact of the matter was that everyone knew, unless you were notorious you were left to die on the streets like a rat. Only the most notorious gangs and gang leaders got the privilege of being captured, then of course being sent to Impel Down, the underwater prison. However, this was a really unusual situation and he could tell that something else was going on; something was wrong, really wrong. And with Ace so worried before, it made him really wonder what was going on exactly? "What's going on, guys?"
Sanji cleared his throat as he sighed and pulled out his cigarette, before looking up and straight into Luffy's eyes. "From what we heard, there are eight gangs coming here, each of them has a leader that's worth more than a one hundred million beri bounty." The other man grimaced as he took a drag of his cigarette and blew out some smoke as he looked back at his leader thoughtfully. "With you and the mosshead over there, that's going to make eleven Supernovas, that's what they're calling you all, you know." Supernovas? Luffy never heard of something like that before and nine other individuals with more than one hundred million beri, not counting Zoro? That was so exciting! He really wanted to meet them! It made him wonder just how strong they were; after all having more than one hundred million beri was a big deal, at least for him. And to have them all on in Goa Kingdom? That was like a dream come true! "Luffy, before you get any ideas, there's more to it than that."
He opened his mouth to completely dismiss the notion of there being something more to it and went to sit down on the couch right next to Usopp. "Don't worry about that! Don't you get it? There are eight more gangs who are just like us!" He grinned happily as he looked at his gang with excitement in his eyes. It made him so happy to know that he's going to have more rivals to find the legendary treasure! Though, in the end he's the one who was going to find it and become the Pirate King! His dream, his complete freedom, he would definitely achieve those things, even if he died trying he would still become Pirate King! His friends worrying about the details of the other Supernovas coming here was just plain annoying. What did it matter if they came here to find the One Piece?! They should have more faith in him that he was going to find it. Giving them an annoyed look, he reached for the chicken leg sitting on the coffee table along with mashed potatoes and some vegetables he didn't care to know about. "So good!" He cried out as he bit into the leg and licked his lips at the blissful taste that came from eating it. Sanji was such a good cook! He even always knew when he would show up so he was always prepared a meal for him. He had such a good crew!
Nami growled at him and gave him a mean glare as she stood up, though before she could start yelling at him, Robin intervened between them. She cleared her throat and turned to look at her captain with a grave expression on her face. "Captain, I'm afraid that what Mr. Cook and Ms. Navigator actually mean is that there's a reason that these crews are coming to Goa Kingdom." The young captain looked up at her with a questioning look on his face and furrowed his eyebrows as he tried to listen to what she was saying. Judging by the look on her face, though it wasn’t good; not in the least. Something was going on and while he wanted to have fun, something told him that this was going to be very bad. And in this kingdom, the bad was always horrific. Taking the meat out of his mouth, he gave frowned and gave her his full attention. "In two weeks time, it will be the twenty fourth anniversary of the Pirate King's death, from what I've heard, Saint Jalmack ordered all of the marines to burn down Edge Town and all of the scum in it." His entire crew looked away from him, all of their expressions were serious and dark, even his own expression had turned serious as he looked at his friends. "The Yonko…they won't take this sitting down. It means there will be war."
Luffy's eyes bulged as he let out a heavy breath and dropped his meat on the ground in shock. "W-what did you just say?!"
x~Chosen Path~x
Footsteps echoed on the ground as a figure walked down the dreary hallway, voices could be heard discussing a new development in the making. Even the figure had a dark look on his face as he finally reached the room and crossed his arms. "Oh, good you've already started the meeting."
The leader in the room turned to look at him and gave him a dark smile. "It's so good of you to finally make it. Tell me…what did you find out about Whitebeards plans, Sabo?" The leader turned to look at the figure very carefully, watching him for clues of deceit. "Surely, Whitebeard won't take this new…development lightly. There will be war, I can almost guarantee it."

Inspired by @wordsdrippinginink contribution to the ‘Whitebeard Meme’ post. It was too funny to pass up!
"Pops!” Thatch called, sauntering up to his captain. “Can I have a word with you?” Whitebeard nodded, politely waving his nurse along. Thatch waited, smiling at the woman as she walked by. When she was gone Whitebeard gestured for him to start.
“So. You know know how Ace is kind of young?” Whitebeard hummed, acknowledging the fact. “Younger than we usually get.” The giant man raised his brow as his son went on. “The youngest on the ship now. Probably the youngest you’ve accepted actually.”
“Thatch.” The fourth commander stopped his rambles to stare up at his captain. “Is there a reason you are bring up Ace and his age?”
“Right.” Whitebeard was confused as his son shifted nervously. He was slightly concerned something was wrong, something surrounding their newest crew member. “Well. You see. It’s just that Ace acts a little naive sometimes.” Whitebeard looked on slightly disbelieving.  “And he just said in passing he’s never had a father before and his guardians, and I quote, were okay but kind of sucked at raising kids. So me and the other commanders were just concerned Ace has never had ‘the talk’ before.” Slightly winded, Thatch inhaled.
Whitebeard sat staring at his son. His eyebrows raised as realization set in. Had they really thought that Ace would be so uninformed at his age? Better question, was he? Whitebeard opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by Thatch speaking up again.
“I’m glad you agree.” Whitebeard wasn’t so sure he did. “We figured since you are the captain and father figure, you should give him the talk.” He moved to cut Thatch off but the man was already continuing as he backed out of the room. “That’s why we already sent for Ace. He should be here any moment now. Good luck!” With that Thatch ducked out, leaving Whitebeard to sigh heavily in the empty room.
Just moments later there was a knock at his door and Ace popped his head through. “You wanted to see me?” He almost seemed timid, still warming up to the crew and himself, so to speak. Sighing again, Whitebeard nodded. He might as well get this over while. Better safe this sorry after all.
“Some of the commanders expressed their concerns over you, to me. They’re worried -” Whitebeard paused. Ace furrowed his brow, worried himself. However Whitebeard was at a loss, how did one even give this speech, let alone to a seventeen year old. “They’re worried you’ve never been given the talk.”
Ace’s expression morphed from concern to confusion. His head tilted ever so slightly, obviously having no clue what Whitebeard was getting out. Well, that’s just great. The older man couldn’t help but think. He really was banking on Ace having already been taught this.
“You see, Ace, there comes a time in a young individual's life when they might start to think about- about.” Whitebeard was one of the most feared men on the seas. It was frankly ridiculous he was finding it difficult to continue with this. But before he could even try to continued Ace scoffed and rolled his eyes in that dramatic teenage fashion.
“Is that what has them worried?” Ace rose his brow with clear annoyance written on his face. “I’m not a kid you know and my gramps gave me this talk a long time ago.” Without being told, Ace turned and made for the door. “It’s not like murder if the only thing I think about you know.”
“What? That wasn’t what I -” Flooder, the man found himself speechless. Murder? Whitebeard could the slight flush of embarrassment spread over Ace’s cheeks and the tips of his ears when he turned. He couldn’t help but just stare, a bit wide-eyed.
“You try to kill one guy” Ace muttered under his breath as he began to march out “and suddenly it’s all people think you care about.” And just as quickly and confusingly as this started, it ended when Ace disappeared. Thatch poked his head in a moment later, followed by Haruta and Fossa.
“Okay, I thought this was funny but now I’m concerned.” Fossa nodded in agreement.
“It’s a little funny.” Haruta chuckled. “What kind of grandpa gives their grandson a ‘murder talk’?
“A crazy person that’s who. Must be where Ace inherited his stubborn ambition.” Cracked Thatch.
Whitebeared sighed knowing that he couldn’t in good conscious let this be. Not when Ace was now walking around completely oblivious. He cleared his throat, grabbing his present children’s attention.
“Go fetch Ace again. The sooner we can inform our youngest, the better.” Curse Ace’s guardians, his grandfather. Whoever that man is.
What they don’t know is while Garp was in charge of giving his grandson’s the “murder talk” Dadan was responsible for the other “talk” and it didn’t go as most would think.
