Still so baffling to me how you cant completely ally with gortash as durge with all that history. For a game that lets you do some truly heinous things.

So, I saw a post from a while ago from you guys asking about Alastor’s human life and oh boy did that open a can of worms, so I am sorry for what I am about to do.
First things first History out of the way, the term serial killer was not coined until 1974 and wasn’t used regularly until then. Tho there was literary use of the word it being used as an official term didn’t really happen until the 70s. As such Al probably evaded police capture and most likely was never caught simply cause a serial killer wasn’t a thing perse. That the light version at least.
Now Al is fascinating simply because he doesn’t follow the norms but that ok. So, Al most likely had an abusive parent in his childhood, most likely his father due to how he treats woman vs men. He was close to his mom (canon according to Vivz). He was most likely bullied in school (if he even went but I like to think he did) both due to him being mixed raced in a time he grew up in and that he has a lack of empathy, kids can sense something off way more than adults. So, dude didn’t get a break. I think that Al probably killed his father around the ages of 12 to 16 and that was his first kill. However, his killing didn’t take off until he was either early 20s or late teens. Depending on his birth year he most likely would’ve drafted into WWI when America entered it in 1917. The war ended in 1918. I like to think he was on the radio communications and that’s where his love for radio fully developed.
After the war Al was in the cities and worked in the radio industry. He later returned to Louisiana and continued killing there. I believe that Al went after men who reminded him of his father (cause most Serial Killers will kill people who remind them of their first kill or a parent). Aka abusive assholes and most likely racist ones at that. I see Alastor stabbing them and then feeding them to the gators in Louisiana or just leaving them in an alley way while he was in the city. He probably left the city cause the police were getting too close. I want his mom to either have A. Died when Al was younger, like his father killed her and then he killed his father in which case Al would’ve been 16 when he killed his first person or B. still alive when Al was killed cause that’s heartbreaking and in which case Al was around 12 or 13 when he killed his father.
Al would’ve been alive when the great depression started and would’ve died long before the end of said depression during that time, he would’ve been more frugal, this was where I put the cannibalism in, but I believe Vivz retconned that but that’s where I would put it. I’m saying he was a more ambitious kill and had upwards of 40 kills under his belt and would’ve had more if he didn’t. I don’t think he would’ve ever gotten caught (no bodies) unless he got caught literally red handed but then I see him getting a lighter sentence. I don’t think he would’ve bragged about his kills or confessed about them because he didn’t see what he did as wrong and more of a chore like taking out the trash. I think Al died in his early 30s I really like the number 32. He never had a wife or children and that caused some issues but not enough to be a problem. He was relatively popular and had a few uhm enthusiastic fans Vox like fans. Which is why he isn’t too bothered by Vox because he’s used to it. No other family besides his ma due to his father’s family disowning his father because he got Al’s ma pregnant. Al’s ma’s parents just aren’t in the picture.
Anyway, yeah that’s most of what I got! Apologies again but can of worms lol the history was mostly from a brief Google search so may not be 100% accurate.
👀 no we fuckin love this shit

Golfy is literally one of my favorite cats of all time and I adore the way you’ve characterized her!! Any fun tidbits to share? I want to know more about the woman
There's a sketch of her floating around if you want to go on a treasure hunt! I don't have time to look for it right now (I am currently in the trunk of a clown car), but I've actually drawn a beta of her design and her big mane
Also note: BB!Goldenflower is part of the Doekin line. Speckletail's perception of herself and her family is tied strongly to being Doestar's niece. This association dies out with Thornclaw in BB!OotS as he's the last one to strongly value this legacy.
Golfy's mane is so poofy, unmanageabley poofy. She keeps it braided
Lionheart just surrendered to entrophy on that one lmao. "Dirt happens."
It's my little way of trying to show the difference between the siblings.
They're both proud and honorable, but Lionheart is more calm and patient. He's a Que Sera Sera kind of guy.
Goldenflower is more fond of the expression, "Fortune favors the prepared."
Note to self: Clanmewnize these expressions. Que Sera Sera is notably quite RiverClannish... Golfy's phrase is definitely from early ThunderClan
Not to get too distracted but I recently got this FANTASTIC idea for how to close out Book 3 of BB!DOTC on a bittersweet note, involving The First Boarhunt and Clear Sky being delightfully devious as always. Maybe it would be cool to put that phrase there... anyway.
She had three siblings total, Lionheart, Mistleclaw, and Snowkit. It's really difficult being the last one; family was extremely important to her.
Mistleclaw wasn't even a year out of apprenticeship; you're really considered an ADULT adult after being on your own for a year. Losing her was like losing a sibling who's college-aged. That was to the plague, before Firestar's arrival.
Smallear was openly the father of all four of them, but Goldenflower hesitates to call him Ba. Him and Speckletail had a really toxic on-again off-again thing.
Smallear was closest to Mistleclaw, who coincidentally looked the most like him. Goldenflower is like... "yeah thats what i expected of him, that fish-eared loser"
She's biased in favor of her mother though. Lionheart was more chill with Smallear; not CLOSE but, neutral-positive.
It wasn't entirely Smallear's fault that the relationship kept falling apart though, to be clear. I use toxic in this use very much on purpose, it wasn't abuse, they really cannot get along.
So when Goldenflower eventually picked a mate, she REALLY just wanted a stable lifepartner that would not be like that.
I would describe her relationship with Tigerclaw more in the terms of an "arrangement." Fishing for romantic information from her is VERY funny because she just like. Doesn't "get" romance.
Brambleclaw: "Mom... what did you... like about dad?"
"He was large, we were both very large. And he was a responsible warrior, respected and ambitious. Well... at the time we believed that. And he spoke with great confidence. He had a way of making you feel like you were both safe and powerful by his side."
It will not even click for her that most people don't open the answer to "why did you love x" with "he was tall like me"
(VINE BOOM AROACE FLAG)
She wanted kits and a partner. She doesn't regret the relationship, she regrets what he made her believe.
On Tigerclaw's end, it was mutual. They both liked each other as trusted Clanmates. He was attracted to her and reciprocated when she proposed a mateship, but I don't think he ever really got over Spottedleaf romantically.
Plus, getting into this family was a smart political move. Having Speckletail's approval was VERY useful.
I might stick Goldenflower as Head of Hunting through TNP to early Po3, until she trains a successor, since there's no rush. I have an allegiance list floating around but I can't remember off the top of my head if she's where she should be
She's actually super disappointed in Tawnypelt for her choice. I don't think they ever reconcile this, they're both too proud
So she's kinda iffy on that alliance with ShadowClan. Not to the point of spite, but she does easily believe stereotypes about them.
"A bunch of holdouts of TigerClan and duplicitous fiends over there."
Both Golfy and Tawnp miss each other a lot, but again. Neither one is going to apologize to the other or say the other was even slightly correct.
And Golfy wouldn't accept it if Tawnp even did. She made her choice. They're in different Clans now. She chose her father, who killed Swiftpaw and Lionheart.
And for that, Golfy will not forgive her.
If they ended up in a battle, neither would hold back. They both know this.
I'm really fond of her. She really is Speckletail's daughter and the whole family has a special flavor of pain and pride.

Light cone art so powerfully homoerotic someone (me) furiously pumped out a 6k word fic in 2 days. They're going to kill me. 🔗 : AO3
Extensive notes/ramblings below!
-
I have not recovered from the mental power I had to pool to write this lmao I couldn't do anything at work except figure these two out and why Aventurine looked so BESOTTED but the absence of the little white dots in his eyes in the light cone and in the leaked models made him look like there's such an edge to him (someone on twitter pointed out that he has no light in his eyes!) and it really fanned the flames like what the fuck is this GUY ON and why is it directed at Dr. Ratio LMAO (I mean why not Ratio is so pretty)
So then I thought, there is NO WAY Ratio is going to react surprised or scared for Aventurine he's going to be ANNOYED lmao. There are possibly 2 more chances in that cylinder before it's 100% in there and I was looking at the probabilities on Wikipedia and I was laughing at myself at how a gay ship was going to make me STUDY probability when I hated this type of stuff in university and I was like yeah Ratio will probably be like hey, you can't stop there, and pulls twice lmao
And I was thinking they would make eyes at each other homoerotically while doing so because wow sexual tension so potent you can taste it through the screen in the LC art and everything just went from there I really cannot get over how Aventurine seems so... sooooooo in love with Ratio and in my head Ratio is like this man is insane what is he on but he gets a taste of that and it's like wow it's actually a little good but Ratio is also cautious so he won't ride that wave too hard but Aventurine looks really down bad for a man who seems like he doesn't care
So initially I really wanted to wait until Aventurine came out before I start my hyperfixation train because we know so little about him other than key facts I have formed in my head-- -he's perpetual smiler (confirmed by a leak of the loading screen blurbs) and like, idk from his design it just suits him and even in his voice cameo with Topaz his VA sounds like they are smiling while they are talking ALLL the time idk at least I got this one right -mr gambling gambler who is very self-assured about his luck, mr smug man. when I wrote he'd win 99.9-0.1 he believes this and if he dies I think to him it would just mean his time's up for realsies anyway and whatever idk man is not very sane -there's some really weird leaks and I'm not sure if it's confirmed but he was invited to be a Masked Fool which made him ALLL the more interesting for me because as a Sampo Mr Scammer fan it doesn't mean if he joins the Masked Fools he wouldn't be able to amass money but this guy seems to really like the thrill being an IPC senior manager provides then which is like this guy is a lives fast dies young kinda guy -I HC from that neck tattoo he could have been an indentured servant (cough slave cough) or a prisoner of some kind, but eitherway it says he wasn't privileged in any sense of the word but the way his character design is so decked out in rings gold watches and even a bracelet it means he's climbed very far, so he is an ambitious man, lots of "material pleasures" as Dr Ratio puts it in my fic and he still wants more. That kinda guy makes for a very intense lover imo very "I get what I want" type, and I really wanted to balance that with his attraction to Dr Ratio and how he doesn't want to drive Dr Ratio away with his crazy but he's also very horny... Anyway I also totally underestimated his height difference with Dr Ratio I really should have pulled up that leak of them side by side but ahh being a short king dom top is so cute on him
As for Dr Ratio I really cannot see him top unless Aventurine power bottoms why but he's so "diligent" in all aspects but I see him being a pillow princess in bed
I also feel a little bad that I wasn't able to write more bickering between the two of them but I also feel like the normally talkative Dr Ratio keeps HIGH HIGH walls around Aventurine because it's hard to tell what this guy is thinking so he's thinking so hard trying to make sense of it all and he says little as not to give away anything that might be wrong
I feel like adding "all is fair in love and war" in Latin omina iusta sunt amore belloque was a little gratuitous but I also want to subtly sprinkle in that Aventurine is so obsessed with Ratio, so down bad for him, that he reads stuff about Dr Ratio a lot enough to come across a translation of the quote and I'm like no yeah way Ratio can deal with crazy-eyed Aventurine saying/declaring love while he's still computing the electric exchange they had so he's definitely like picking up on Aventurine's obsession/infatuation with him and he's like NOPE DON'T SAY IT and would rather kiss him to shut him up than hear it lmao
I honestly despaired at how I was going to start closing the scenes because it was like nighttime and I wanted to finish it already because they're killing me, so like, making Ratio fall asleep while Aventurine pours his heart out (I asked a friend who read it what he thought Aventurine said and they got it spot on so I figure it was conveyed properly on my end and I was really proud of this bit) seemed like a cute way to do it. The narration lied, Dr Ratio heard it but he got selective hearing and totally did NOT want to reply/acknowledge it. Poor Aventurine, but it's not as if he won't try again
I have waaay more ideas about them and I wonder if I can hold off until Aventurine releases or we get more crumbs idk but I want to write some kuudere Ratio (with a bit of tsun hehe)
Special mentions other than the lightcone art that fueled me: this art from Twitter that and this post that kinda made me think long and hard...

GA: Im Not Sure Which Depresses Me More GA: The Sabotage Of Our Session Or The Futility Of Theirs [...] CG: YOU'RE BEING REALLY WEIRD ABOUT THIS. GA: Well I Havent Asked What I Wanted To Ask [...] GA: Its About TentacleTherapist CG: YEAH. THAT'S THE ROSE HUMAN. CG: SHE'S APPARENTLY PRETTY SARCASTIC. CG: IT'S IN MY NOTES.
I love that Karkat prepared dossiers on the kids' personalities, presumably to harass them as efficiently as possible. We've never seen him talk to Rose, so I like to think he learned about her sarcasm from her passive-aggressive games with Mom.
GA: You Have Notes On Them [...] GA: Thats Why Youre Our Leader Karkat CG: NO, I'M YOUR LEADER BECAUSE OF MY INCREDIBLE TACTICAL SKILLS AND MY ABILITY TO MOBILIZE AND MOTIVATE A BUNCH OF USELESS PEOPLE TOWARD A COMMON GOAL, AND BECAUSE I'M EXTREMELY AMBITIOUS AND INTREPID. ALSO BECAUSE LEADERSHIP IS IN MY BLOOD. WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS.
I'm actually with Karkat on this. Uniting the trolls was an achievement, and he managed it better than most of his friends would have.
The only other trolls who might have had a shot were Terezi or Kanaya - but Kanaya was distracted by quadrant shenanigans, and Terezi likes causing problems on purpose. Plus, she wasn't interested in being the leader.
Karkat doesn't exactly give off 'inspiring leader' vibes, but he rose to the occasion magnificently. He got trolls like Vriska, Equius and Eridan to act as a unit, and it's frankly astounding that it worked as well as it did.
GA: Have You Talked To Her CG: WHO GA: The Rose Human GA: Also GA: Do We Really Have To Say Things Like The Rose Human CG: OF COURSE WE DO. CG: IT SOUNDS SUITABLY DISDAINFUL. CG: I MEAN, IF A BUNCH OF ALIENS STARTED HASSLING YOU, YOU WOULD EXPECT THEM TO ACT REALLY HIGH AND MIGHTY, AND SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY, RIGHT?.
Humans are, basically, cousins to the trolls - and the first thing the trolls did was try to obfuscate that fact. I think Karkat's motive was to make them sound intimidating, but they ended up just sounding like cartoon characters. Not that I'm complaining.
CG: DID YOU WANT TO TROLL HER? ARE YOU VOLUNTEERING? [...] GA: Im Not Sure If Ive Got It In Me Right Now CG: COME ON. YOU'LL BE GREAT AT IT. CG: PLEASE JUST DO THIS ONE THING FOR ME. WE'VE GOT TO STAY COORDINATED ON THIS. CG: TOO MANY OF THESE FUCKS ARE GOING ROGUE.
Karkat may have united the trolls, but I think his leadership died with the Black King. He said it himself - his strength was in motivating the trolls to a common goal. Out here in the Veil, there is no more goal, and things are rapidly unraveling.
CG: I'LL EXPECT A FULL REPORT SOON. GA: A Report About What [...] CG: HOW HASSLED YOU GOT HER TO BE CG: BUT LESS STUPID SOUNDING THAN THAT. GA: Is There A Metric For That Concept [...] CG: WE CAN GAUGE YOUR RESULTS WITH THE "FLIGHTY BROADS AND THEIR SNARKY HORSESHITOMETER".
And I don't think Project Trolling was just a way for Karkat to vent his frustrations, either. I mean, that's definitely what he thinks it is, but if it was just that, he'd be doing it alone.
GA: That Seems Just As Disparaging To Me As It Is To Her CG: YEAH WELL CG: USE IT AS MOTIVATION
He's doing it to motivate the other trolls. A part of him has realized that his team has lost direction, and he's subconsciously trying to provide them a new goal - something new to unite them.
Because what happens if the trolls aren't united?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blood, mostly.
And Karkat hates blood.

Stancy Headcanon after getting back together (just because they're presenting m/f doesn't mean they're necessarily straight):
• Nancy doesn't have to try so hard with Steve to be perfect, and she's perfectly imperfect with Steve. She doesn't feel guilty about having fun with him either.
• Steve doesn't have to be afraid of his feelings anymore, and neither does Nancy. There's open communication with them now, but still, there's a lot to work out.
• They like to dance, and when Steve sings into a hairbrush, Nancy does it right back. Though sometimes, singing into the airbrush turns into practice interviews for when Nancy's a famous reporter.
• Steve lets the kids play in the pool, but he hasn't stepped foot in it since Barb died. Neither has Nancy. Together, they work through it, getting in a little each time until they're all the way into the pool. Then it's just them, and they're surrounded by the water. . .together. They spend time in it a little each day, wrapped up in each other's arms, holding onto each other until they no longer feel like they're drowning. And when they throw a pool party, they jump into the pool together.
• Nancy learns more about Robin and her friendship with Steve. Getting to know Robin and Steve on their "girls' night", sitting on the floor as they just bitch about everything. On the floor of the living room at Steve's house, as they do Steve's hair and makeup, Robin comes out to Nancy, and she accepts, laughing about how she could ever have been jealous of Robin. And if Robin is in this queerplatonic relationship with Steve, then she's in one with Nancy, too.
• Together, Steve and Nancy also go another discovery with their sexualities and their gender when they go up to Indianapolis with Vickie and Robin. Genderfluid isn't a term yet that's used yet, but it is definitely something they feel. Nancy discovers she's pansexual (that term doesn't really take off until the 90s though) and Steve discovers he's bisexual. ("No, Steve, jerking off with your teammates isn't straight!") And while in Indianapolis, if they happen to see a showing of Rocky Horror, they enjoy it immensely.
• Their dreams interwine, come together, and grow, but the basis of their dreams remain the same. Nancy didn't just get into journalism because she likes it or because she's ambitious. She also got into it to help people. So, yeah, I can see them adopting kids and giving them a place to call home. And with the compensation money that's just sitting in their bank account, they use it to open a youth shelter: a place for lost sheep of all kinds: nerds, jocks, and queer kids to go to with a strict no bullying rule in place.
• Oh, and their mutual love of Tom Cruise grows when they both go to see Top Gun. Suddenly, Nancy's very grateful he kept the leather jacket.
• They're just a pastel colored daydream. Soft, they are, but also rough, but definitely not straight. The walls of forced conformity break down when they get back together, and with the cloud of darkness that hung over their heads dissipating each day, they finally get to enjoy their relationship.

I’ve approached this topic before and now I want to return to it after finishing the book series. The author himself has basically admitted you can pick and choose what’s ‘canon’ or not due to the books being slightly different universes- that’s a ramble for another time but I still want to go over the sad shift that happened with Dave. I’ve said it before and I’ve seen others joke about it but it’s very clear when you’re reading Clarke did NOT want to write more than 2010. I’m not saying he got spiteful but there is definitely a disconnect.
To me it almost feels like Dave looses his Starchild status as how he’s explained in the last two books is in a stark contrast to his initial transformation. He’s near omnipotent, a child in the scheme of things— eventually he has responsibility but for now he’s sort of left to flounder and chooses to watch earth. Now I am a fan of the dog metaphor of 2010 where he’s occasionally used but has a lot of autonomy.
In the first part of the series to me it seems that this is expressly Dave just transformed whereas later he’s a mind copy tool. (Though still Dave in a lot of ways that autonomy and ability to move freely is GONE he’s tied to the monolith). Again I think a lot could be done with this concept but it goes back and sort of rewrites where he’s not “ascended” but a slave.
It’s just so sad because there is a lot going for both concepts but little payoff ultimately, however enough of me complaining… here’s some angst.
There’s something so tragic about Dave in that we know him more as a legend than we ever did know him as a man. He’s young, ambitious and great at his work- he hopes to go to the beach when he comes home, he wants to live comfortably and looks out for his crew members. He had a sad life but found joy in his profession and then he has the worst few months of his life and dies- and depending on which you follow is reborn or copied.
He becomes a name to be invoked. A missing astronaut. The “Bowman thing”. Starchild. Hell! He’s basically the local cryptid of Ganymede.
He is a constant throughout the series because he haunts the narrative. Not fully gone but a ghostly god figure who wants so desperately to remember himself - who’s attached to his fading humanity.
It’s a shame because this haunting is a light one. I wasn’t looking about invoking his name as he’s basically a helper god. What’s sad to me is that it isn’t explored as a genuine loss or charecter trauma but instead he’s just a plot device.
Halman is more of a plot device than a character (and I fully believe it was also Halman in 2061 just there wasn’t a name for them yet. As it’s just ‘yeah Hal’s here say hi Hal’ and that was it)
It’s just such a shame as David Bowman is a character filled with trauma and potential. While I would’ve preferred to follow the initial Starchild being, as him watching over earth and discovering what he is and you know like thematic significance of clinging to humanity etc. The tool idea is also fascinating but I would’ve preferred to explore it more… unfortunately tool was taken a little too literally and he’s a plot device.
I don’t know- canon is what you make it in this series, it’s not like I can’t write what I want to see (and I’m going to). It’s just a shame is all.

Yujin Drawings! (Plus a ramble)
decided to do some drawings of Yujin!
If you guys don't know Yujin, She's one of my many LMK ocs! Yujin is a Emperess of the Eastern empire in China, a empire that has been standing for generations. All people of any kind stay there. (She's Also PIF biological sister)
Anyway, time to ramble about Yujin's charater-
Tumblr media
Lets start with Yujin herself.
Yujin, in the LMK series, is a person of royalty. She's intelligent, tactical, a person who overworks herself, very much like her sister. However, Yujin is not only intelligent, but she's powerful too.
When Yujin was younger, again, was a Celestial Maiden along with PIF. However, younger Yujin was a confidence and courage fueled girl, leading Yujin doing unspeakable actions without thinking of the consequences.
Due to these actions, Yujin got banished from the Celestial realm. Yeah, it was that bad. When Yujin was stuck down on the mortals plain, she met others who seemed like outcasts. One of these friends were Macaque
Again, back then, Macaque was a much more cautious guy. But this cautiousness rubbed off on Yujin in the best way possible. Yujin's much cautious now.
Anyway, the next topic I'm talking about is femininity, and how I tried to properly add it to Yujin's charater. I'm not a writer, but I want to be a good enough one for my art. So if you feel uncomfortable with this, feel free to pass through this-
Yujin's never really been considered pretty before. But she knows that she is pretty. Yujin likes to dress up, wear make up, shopping etc. But Yujin isn't afraid to get her hands dirty when necessary.
At a certain point in life, while she was still in the Celestial realm, Yujin felt....lost. She saw all the other maidens around her prefect things she never seem to get right. They where all the same, yet so different, to the point Yujin felt outcasted. So what did she do? She started to wear what she wanted.
Yujin wanted to stand out, she wanted to be appreciated and accepted from others including herself, that Yujin started to do reckless actions to be noticed. Of course, it took a lot of time, a lot of talking to others and herself that Yujin realized: the only person who can fully accept you in yourself. So that's what she did.
To when her husband died (that's right, i aint name dropping but design dropping soon-) to when Red Son was born, to deal with that amount of truama on her shoulders, she had to accept that it wasn't her fault.
Overall personality wise, younger Yujin was a hot-headed girl who was competitive, and was a petty loser. But she cared for her the people around her, because those where the only people she felt accepted by. The Yujin now is still hot headed and sometimes stubborn, but her pride has lowered, she's more cautious, but she still loves to have fun.
Now, let's get talking relationships!
First off, Hui Ying!
Tumblr media
Considering Hui Ying is the daughter of one of whom Yujin considers a sworn brother, Yujin treats Hui like her wn daughter.
Yujin sees how smart Hui is, how her determination and ambitious nature makes her have great results, but takes away her early years.
Yujin dosent want to watch Hui just toss her life at endless work, so she encourages hui to go shopping with her, go dancing, go to fast food places, basically outside. Yujin wants Hui to savor in New surroundings and areas, as not everything Hui thinks is actually correct.
Hui Ying sees Yujin as one of the best people in her life, and usually calls her Auntie Yujin. Hui Ying never had healthy female figures in her life, but Yujin changed that. Yujin didn't tell Hui who or what to be. She encouraged Hui to follow hearts desires, but to keep in mind on what her wants.
Tai Yang
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yujin notices that Tai Yang got his dad's friendliness, but also got his mother's craving for destruction or chaos.
Tai Yang is mostly quiet, and can be short tempered, but he's not afraid to grab a deal if it presents himself.
Tai Yang reminds Yujin of when she was younger, a person who's courage and ambitiousness can lead them to recklessness. So, Yujin brings Tai Yang down to earth, telling him it's okay to express himself.
As quiet as Tai is to Yujin, he does care about her a lot. He even calls her Auntie sometimes. Tai is very thankful that someone besdies Hui is trying to see through his eyes, to try to feel how he feels.
Anyway, that's all! Feel free to ask about Yujin, and if you want me to do any other of my ocs, don't be afraid to ask!

oooooh for the made up title game, "gotham blues"?
thank you sm for the ask!!
ahhhh
my brain keeps reading that as “gotham city blues” but regardless!!! i’m picturing a 20s/30s era wip. jazz age, prohibition, flappers, rise of the mafia, early hollywood…
as a general note i think it would be more like… aesthetic than strictly historically accurate, as there would be some topics i wouldn’t be comfy handling / including. (altho maybe not glossing over entirely??)
was just talking with @deepwithintheabyss abt a new money jay (in a different context but) which. finally gave me the insp to figure out exactly what i wanted for this lmao
i’m a little split between jaytim & jaysteph for this—working in a throuple could be really cool. i’m thinking jason is ofc from the park row area. it’s being hit hard by the rise in crime; his parents having been middle class but poverty hitting them when his mom gets sick / his dad gets fired, or in debt to the wrong people. jason’s life is turned upside down as a kid, watching his dad fall deeper & deeper into crime. at first he was determined not to follow the same path but as he gets older, he gets more jaded, and much like in canon decides to stop crime by controlling it.
steph is a flapper—heavily involved in feminist circles, rebelling against the life she was raised for. her father is maybe an early actor, though he falls out of grace for,,, idk, reasons. her mother got hooked on drugs in part due to the stars & producers they hung out with. anyway, steph is determined to make something of herself.
tim—
i think the drakes are newish money, so there’s some stigma among the rest of high society. he never wanted to take over his parent’s business, despite his razor sharp mind, but when they die in a tragic accident he has no choice. his paths cross with both steph & jay.
jay is pro-feminism from the start i think; tim has some stuff to unlearn. bit of conflict there, but they manage to work through it. i’m picturing them somehow all getting tangled up together.
maybe,,,
jason is trying to unseat black mask or penguin or joker or—someone from the top seat. or. okay, maybe that’s ambitious, so let’s just go with black mask. black mask isn’t the ~top~ criminal in the city but he’s up there, and he’s jason’s first target now that he’s got his own following. sionis is competing with drake industries and viewed tim as a non-issue, figuring DI would dissolve after janet & jack died, so he arranged their deaths. tim discovers this during some digging, because he has a bad feeling about their deaths.
steph is tangled up in it too—her own vendetta with mask maybe, or mask being obsessed with her somehow? or maybe she’s just. guilty by association ig, and once she learns what’s going on ends up involved despite herself.
i’m not sure how i would / if i would work in the others; it would maybe come up as needed?
but yeah, basically a very… noir (?) type tale of intrigue & danger & love that isn’t a the best of ideas but is irresistible nonetheless.
would have a happy ending / happy for now ending tho bc i’m a sucker
[ send me a made up title & i’ll tell you what kind of fic i’d write for it ]

All right, fellow MCU fans
So, after seeing the Marvels today, it got me thinking. Now, you probably don't know who I am. But I do happen to be a writer. Not a very good one mind you (several people would say otherwise, but shush, give me my self-loathing) Phase 4 (and the current parts of 5) is not that great. So I want to rewrite the Multiverse Saga. Yes. The entire thing. Even though it's not finished.
Very long blocks of text below. It's really the only thing that keeps me organized. Please read it though if you are interested. It'll be split up into sections, for somewhat easy perusal.
Now, I know this is an ambitious project, and one not done. I am no stranger to things like this, see my own game/show I'm making. (This is the only time I'm going to mention it. But I am pretty proud of it) So, for my very small amount of sanity, I'm stopping it at The Marvels, and Loki season 2 (Oops, still not finished with it yet). And I wanted to ask people what they thought was lackluster, or mediocre. Not the Marvel I and many other people grew up on. I do understand that it was flawed before, but when I recently rewatched most of them, I found that my childhood love for them had blossomed into something new. I was 6 when the first Avengers came out. I learned how to shoot a bow because of Hawkeye in that movie. And I think it deserves better, especially after watching the Marvels.
Now, this means everything after Endgame. So from Black Widow to The Marvels in terms of the movies, and the Disney+ series from Wandavision to Loki Season 2. I have a feeling it's going to take me a second to get through the remaining 5 episodes of Loki S2. My family wants to watch it with me, and they're all decently busy... Anyways, that's 10 movies, and 9 series. Although I don't accept Secret Invasion. Like at all. Anyways.
I have yet to decide what I'm going to publish this on. Probably A03, just because that's easiest for me. And I can organize much easier. Do let me know what you think.
So, before I get into the problems I've identified, feel free to stop here, and reblog or ask me your problems with the aforementioned shows and movies. I'm talking writing or character problems, as we've seen in the series. I am a fan of the comics, but you can divert from that, or stick to them.
Oh, and if you say something like "Make it more queer", I am a raging bisexual enby. I will already be making it queer as fuck, and can be convinced to ship pretty much anyone, if I can get a good reasoning behind it. Minors should be shipped with only minors. That's one of my few rules, if you send anything to me. So yeah, I'm doing genderfluid Loki.
Thoughts on everything:
This is just here so that I don't get a ton of repeats. I'll go movies first, then the TV shows.
Black Widow (2021) - Honestly, this is too late of a movie. Natasha deserved this before Endgame or Infinity War came out. But release dates aside, Taskmaster needs more screentime, and a chance to show how menacing they are. Natasha also needs more time with her family, and the parents need to be fleshed out a bit more. Belova is far too smart to be tricked by the lady in the post-credit scene.
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021) - I don't have any major problems with this movie. The Great Protector, or the dragon, and the supernatural creature, I think he's called Dweller In Darkness, kinda felt a little blank, and the Dweller shouldn't have died, only been pushed back. And I don't like Katy that much. Trevor is much better comedic relief in my opinion.
Eternals (2021) - Oh boy, where do we start with this one? You know it's bad if I can't remember any of the main characters names besides Ikarus. And that's because I was laughing my ass off at him throwing himself into the sun. There was also the Celestial I think it was? Anyways that thing broke islands up, and then just became a massive statue, and like no one mentions it? I don't remember much else about this movie, even after having watched it like 3 times. Oh, and the Ebony Blade was shown off. I like that if they can do something fun with that.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - Dr. Strange feels a little shoe-horned in. The whole sanctum being overtaken by snow was pretty clever, but Strange being a father figure to Peter is not super well established. Could be fixed with a couple of rewrites. Or Strange and Stark being together. Peter is a dumbass, and the reason for him starting the whole plot... is so dumb. I understand, teenagers can be stupid, hell, I go to public high school, but Peter's shown he's a lot smarter than this. But I do like the crossover (Dafoe as Green Goblin my beloved) and the fact that the other Spidermen get to say goodbye in one last movie. Anyways, Ned's wizard connections need to be elaborated on as well.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness (2022) - Alright, getting my biggest problem out of the way first. Wanda's corruption arc should have been shown. It should have been developed through the movie, and Wanda should have been with Strange and America. She can still be evil, and die after she realizes her actions, but this basically destroys the point of Wandavision. She was willing to say goodbye. Wanda has been a favorite of mine for years, and I read her comics religiously as a child. We need to see the power of the Scarlet Witch. What it did without Wanda. Her "No More Mutants" line sent chills down my spine the first time I read it. Sam Raimi directed this movie. Strange and Wanda should have had more horrific shit. And that one Strange with 3 eyes should have been the one from What If. We need horror in this. America also needs to be more fleshed out. I do love her, but we get like one scene of her being traumatized of basically growing up nowhere. Her moms get to stay though. I'm just going to ignore the last post-credit scene, because... that's setting something up I'm not sure of.
Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) - First up, Gorr has a great setup. He needed more screentime though. We need to see more of his god killing. They should rightfully be shitting their pants over this man. Thor leaving to save Sif was a good move, but that joke ruined the tension. She should have died there, proof of the god killer. Jane Foster is perfectly fine, and her arc is a lovely send-off. I would have loved some more stuff about the kids, especially Heimdall's. I don't even remember his name. He should have been shown doing something in Jane's return to Asgard, something that showed off his parentage. The meeting of the gods is a great scene, but there should have been people who spoke up, and then promptly getting thrown out, or even getting killed. Even more of a reason for Thor and crew to convince him. I think everything else is pretty good. Also Valkyrie is perfect in this movie. Bi queen. And her Loki knives are lovely.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - I actually think this one just needs a couple of little tweaks. I understand why they couldn't have T'Challa show up in the spirit world, and Killmonger was great, but I still think something between the siblings would be good. Fuck, I love the funeral scene. It was a lovely sendoff to both T'Challa, and Chadwick. Namor seems a little rash though. Might just be the comics leaking through on that matter but I do like the Mayan inspirations in the movie!
Antman: Quantumania (2023) - I'm not really sure on this movie. I don't like Janet in this movie. She feels too secretive. She could have told them plenty, even lied that Kang had gone home. He'd gotten out somehow. Kang didn't seem scared enough of the others, but that might just be me thinking of that. Oh, and MODOK sucked. He shouldn't be a joke. But Darren could have done something else, because he is in there.
Guardians of The Galaxy V.3 (2023) - Perfection in every way. I'm not changing anything unless it involves getting everything I'm incorporating in. And the Christmas Special is also great.
The Marvels (2023) - Spoilers! Kamala needed more screentime, she just generally felt disconnected from the plot besides her bangle. And I also wanted a more menacing villain. That's been the problem with them recently. They don't make me think that they could actually beat them. I like everything else though. Flerkins were great as usual. I love these stupid creatures so much. That one scene was beautiful.
Now to the shows! These are going to be so much shorter.
Wandavision (2021) - I think this is good. No notes.
Loki S1 (2021) - Good, besides the Sylvie/Loki romance. They are siblings. I'm not sure if there's anything else that I really had a problem with. It's been a moment. Which is a shame. I love Loki (Also bi confirmation! I love it!)
The Falcon & Winter Soldier (2021) - I also think this is good, besides maybe having some problems with the villain. Bromance all the way.
What If...? (2021) - Also pretty good. Little self-contained story. I like the zombies.
Hawkeye (2021) - I also think this one's pretty well written. Macaroni is constantly referenced in my house. Lucky is also a pretty boy.
Moonknight (2022) - Honestly, god tier. Anyways, no one mentioned the stars literally turning in Egypt. But maybe it was just the people thinking that they were drunk as shit and seeing something.
Ms. Marvel (2022) - Second favorite being Moonknight. I also don't remember anything glaringly wrong.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022) - Besides the tone of the show being inconsistent as shit, I think this show should have dove into some of the topics it brought up more. It just seemed a little surface level. Maybe a WWDITS style mockumentary would work better.
Secret Invasion (2023) - THIS ENTIRE SHOW SUCKS ASS. THIS WHOLE THING WAS DONE SO BADLY. I am not taking anything from this show
Loki S2 (2023) - Too distracted by another season 2 coming out, so I have yet to finish. I have heard it's good though. I've seen the first episode, and it's going pretty good so far.
Well, you made it to the bottom! Yay!
...This took me an hour to write. I did get the doc set up. And got a bit of an outline set up.

Tumblr media
"My childhood, let’s see… Nights spent lookin’ for a star - any star… All dimmed by city lights. Silent lullabies sung by the flickering neon signs of Charter Hill…"
Tumblr media
Born into Night City's corporate world to upper middle class managers Marcella and Kousuke Ezaki, Vince lived a very comfortable and sheltered life growing up. Nice corporate apartment in Charter Hill's bustling Grant Avenue, excellent education, always the newest clothes, the fanciest tech, the best cyberware money can buy from a young age on.
It was almost too comfortable and sheltered really. With what they had invested in him and his future, his parents demanded perfection and performance - and obedience. While Vince was eager to deliver at first, being naturally ambitious, it always felt like something was wrong, something was missing... He just never quite fit in, despite trying his hardest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vince's father died when he was 13 - by suicide in the company bathroom, or so it seemed at the time. The pressure had gotten too much for him to bear and he saw no other way out; that had been the official explanation. The supposed truth though, which Vince would uncover many years later, was more complex and even darker than that.
On top of it, Vince's parents had never led the happiest marriage, worn down by stress and growing disagreements. It started over smaller issues: which car to buy, when to go on holiday, which school was best for their child. But soon they fought daily, constantly, about everything... And Vince fled into the arms of kids his age and older that never had the best intentions with him, but lured him in with a sense of belonging somewhere finally.
Tumblr media
After his father's death, Vince's mother grew increasingly paranoid and controlling - her focus shifted from her husband to her child, whom she did not want to lose as well. Simultaneously though, she refused to accept that Vince had become his own person and would never be who and what she'd wanted him to be. The harder she tried to hold on to him, do her bidding, obey, the further she ended up pushing him away...
Vince through the years (1/9)
Little BTS rambles below the cut here!
Remember these? XD Yeah, I'm finally getting around to doing my "Vince through the years" project I teased a couple months ago. I finally decided on a format! xD I wanted something diary-entry like, but not too long and complex, otherwise I could probably sink months into this, do some cool lorebook-like graphics and whatnot...
I might still do that in the future, revamp some shots, or maybe one day make a character page or something in a more complex graphic style... but for now I just really wanna share some lore actually 👀 And get these shots published before they go bad!! (read as: before I don't like them anymore cause I'm getting better with my VP XD)
Also, a little comparison - vanilla vs edited shot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aging him down around 10 years was hard, but also fun XD I did this a while ago and meanwhile I might do some stuff different, but I'll leave them as is now xD But yeah, I tried some other complexions first that look younger than his 2077 one, but they made him look like a completely different person, so I went with the Photoshopping approach instead. Does he look like a pre-T teenager? Eh. If you squint XD But I'll take it!
Back then he already loved his massive coats that made him look bigger and wider than he really is. Hair dyed blond mostly because both his parents have dark hair, for that good old teenage rebelliousness and self-expression <3
I kinda implied it in the text but... yeah his parents were both pretty messed up. They did see him more like an investment than a kid most of the time. It was in the end damaging to all three of them, but most to Vince, leading to him becoming a little fucked up as well.
And when I say "investment" I literally mean, they invested money into making him as flawless as possible. Got him cyberoptics and whatnot installed as a 5-year-old to combat genetic eye-problems running in their families (when glasses couldve done the trick), things like that. His mother had planned some more things for as soon as he would finish school, but he ran away from home before that.
Before that already he went on to destroy all these perfect things they tried to achive with his body, got stick-and-poke tattoos, pierced his own ear, found a semi-shady Ripper who would install him a cyberdeck *he* wanted, not the one his mother got him, etc etc. XD
He spent a lot of time with the wrong pepole, too, but the connection to them at least helped him realize that he's trans - obviously one more thing that his mother did not plan for with her "perfect child" and tries to first ignore then actively shut down as best as she can. This is a hate-post for Vince's mom <3
What really happened to his dad is gonna follow in a post to come ooooor maybe I'll leave it a secret until I finished writing his background story fic 👀

@disneyanddisneyships I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS CUTE
Emma opened up the door, revealing her father's office. With multiple cameras, every technology that has existed since he came in hell. The screens showing the surveillance of every part of the house, and a big screen in the middle. It was safe to say her father had fully embraced modern technology, and is evolving it with every year, every decade, every generation..
It was one of the things she admired about him.
"In here.." Emma said, whispering to her friend who was walking beside her. The doors slid themselves shut once both of them were completely inside.
"Whoa.." Theodore gawked at the sight. He'd never seen so much technology in his life!
"This is my dad's office. This is where he does his work, obviously. But.. this is the place where he keeps all the information he puts out to the public. Everything. He can corrupt, manipulate and control what everyone sees. He also has his own products that shows up on tv whenever they can." Emma stated, before turning to smile at Theodore.
"He never let me in here as a kid, until one day I accidentally got the door password right and I went in to touch his stuff. I broadcasted frog pictures all throughout hell because I love them.. and dad instantly found out I did it. For one, he wouldn't broadcast random stuff, and two, he knows I liked frogs. He and Mom scolded me for it. I thought it was funny!" She laughed.
Theodore laughed as well. "Yeah, I remember that. Your dad was so angry! Even dad was confused about it."
Emma grinned. "All of them were confused."
Theodore chuckled, smiling fondly at his friend. He just liked her enthusiasm when she talks. She made everything exciting.
Emma looked around the office. "You've gotta admit. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Theodore stared not at the office, but at her. "Yeah.. it's very beautiful." He found himself saying, his eyes fixated on her face.
Emma looked up at him, making him snap his head at one of the screens. "I mean.. I've been to my dad's radio studio.. it isn't anything like this."
"Classic radio demon. Sticking to old time technology." Emma chuckles.
"You tell me." Theodore agrees.
Emma's mirth died down and she got her eyes off of him, her cheeks having a shade of pink. "Although.. old time radio's not that bad.."
Theodore smiles at her statement, his eyes still remaining on her. "So is new technology! I don't know what our dads are fighting about."
Emma giggles. "Hey, atleast our mothers get along swell!"
Theodore laughs as well. "Our moms' friendship led us to being friends, so.. I'm glad they do."
Emma stopped in her tracks, taking in Theo'd words. "I.. I guess I'm glad too."
Theodore's smile turned into a soft, warm one. He cast aside a bit of her hair, tucking it behind her ear. "Uh.. I hope you don't mind."
Emma blushes. "No, um.. I don't."
They stayed like that for a while, and the feeling of his hand brushing through her cheek made her stomach turn.
Emma looks away from him, upon feeling that. "I.. I promised myself that one day.. one day I'm going to be the one to sit and work at this place. I'm going to be just like him. An overlord. I want to be able to lead the next generation's technology."
"That's ambitious!" Theodore says, putting his hand in his pocket. "I don't even know what I wanna be yet.."
"I'm sure you'll figure it out!" Emma put a hand on his shoulder, smiling reassuringly, a warm.. friendly gesture.
Theodore couldn't stop looking at her. Her red eye.. her voice.. her hair.. her smile..
He didn't know why, but it was probably just because he cared for her as a friend. They did grow up together despite the feud between their fathers.
Theodore smiles. "Thanks, Emma."

[very long post featuring a food truck turned tattoo ot3 au with mentions of former gang involvement, paying off loans, and carceral system including parole]
toby, instead of a cooking school for kids, works with incarcerated people and recent parolees. eliot has history with bike gangs and didnt snitch on anyone, but he always kept clean; they could never pin anything on him except some low level nonviolent crimes. eliot went through the program while doing time. he had a little bit of savings he kept aside, plus what he made working with toby after getting out. he got a dinky used food truck with all he had.
because the truck was bought rundown but cheap, he needs to take it in a lot to the shop closest to his mcsweetens. the best mechanic they have for a truck like that is parker. when she meets eliot, she squints and asks, hey dont i know you? and eliot flips through his mental rolodex and places her: sterling your parole officer too? which shes like oh yeah! that guy sucks right? so, about your truck blah blah. (she has had a hard life, in and out of juvie and foster care growing up for general nonviolent thievery. sterling nearly had a blood vessel burst in his forehead when she told him she got a job at a mechanics shop; she just smirked at him and said that her carjacking days were when she was a minor and hence, sealed.)
eliot puts out good food consistently until eventually, he gets traction and then he gets included on a show like diners, drive-ins and dives. his food truck gets HOT to the point that he can expand to a second truck, which parker offers to help him shop for it so he doesnt end up with another clunker. eliot is like, isnt that bad for business? and parker gives him a look and thats how eliot knows its real friendship between them. he may also kinda sorta maybe be attracted to her, but hes desperate for friends and also eventually she mentions having a guy in her life, so eliot doesnt bother.
then, a few years in, it may be ambitious with two (very busy!) trucks already out, but toby is willing to put in seed money for eliot to open up a brick and mortar, where eliot can have more freedom to experiment with his menu. eliot takes him on even as parker complains that he should replace his first truck first.
her suggestion comes back to haunt eliot when the truck dies right after hes signed the lease for the building. he feels DOOM but parker suggests that he can save on interior design by using the old truck parts for decoration. for all the years of steady customer devotion, she will chop it up for just the cost of materials and even that will be at retail price. which. feels like love really really deep camaraderie right there! (i think nate and sophie are used car salespeople who also have the side hustle of selling used parts, so they are parkers source for fixing the truck plus who she brings eliot to for the second truck)
it's a big expense to replace the truck and start up the business at once, but... eliot had a vision. he takes on loans which gives him a lot of anxiety, but its okay! his businesses continue to be successful, he can make his payments, and overall, he feels settled financially. so while not everything is smooth sailing, he's just really proud of what he's done and he wants to maybe have that reflected with how he relates to his body maybe. so. to celebrate paying off one of the loans and/or hitting an important anniversary of some kind, he wants to confront the fact that hes been wearing long sleeves since hes turned his life around because he has tats from his gang and prison days. it fits a marketable aesthetic, but he wants to move on.
he knows parker has a few tattoos of various quality: random things like a herseys bar and toucan sam. but her newer ones she's got since hes known her are very good, including a stuffed bunny toy on her thigh and (lately) her favorite tools down her back. he asks for who did, and she excitedly sends him to nana divine's tattoo parlor and piercing.
looking through the artists at nana's, he comes across a photo that stops him dead. its a gorgeous photo of sleeves: from the shoulders, citrus spills looking so plump and ready to eat in vibrant yellows, reds, whites, and greens on black skin. the fruit and leaves transform into circuit boards at the person's wrists. (alec, btw, has plans for an elaborate fandom space themed back piece; he has the outline for the enterprise already. also, on his legs he gets flashes by favorite artists plus newbies at nana's parlor who need to work on people flesh)
eliot sees that while the artist he was looking at (an alec hardison) didnt tattoo those specific tattoos, he did design them for himself. they... are gorgeous. and they inspire eliot like nothing else hes seen, and alec has done similarly thoughtful designs on light skin as well, so he's versatile. he says hes willing to do cover ups AND he prefers to work on large pieces/collections, and eliot is like yes. okay. okay. perfect.
eliot makes an appointment with alec, who is just so friendly and nice. hes younger than eliot expected considering his skill, but alec has been around nana's so long as her foster kid that he's moved past apprentice early. eliot talks about himself, more than he usually does with strangers. says how he is now a chef, and he wants to get vegetables and herbs, maybe some kitchenware or even truck/engine stuff if alec needs filler.
eliot says he is thinking just the arms and upper chest and shoulders since thats the most people see, since he wants to wear tank tops. he wants alec to plan it all at once.
(alec during this first meeting is straight with him: i dont recognize a lot of these, maybe cuz youre from way out of town. I won't refuse taking you on for this, but I need to know now if any of these support fascism or white nationalism. eliot sputters absolutely not, man. the fuck. which is nice! for sure!)
this is a dream scenario for alec, who is in love with the idea and likes the challenge of including coverups as part of the plan. he works not only with eliot for reference shots, but with parker. (parker, who he met because she has gotten her recent pieces from nana and who he has settled into a FWB situation, which slowly slowly slowly is progressing into Friends With Romance as parker warms up to him at a measured pace. parker helps with the engine stuff obviously. parker is very excited to work on something for eliot, who is happy to have her involved too.)
alec gets super into drawing the map for eliot. and then during his spare time, just.... keeps going on his tablet. he makes a separate copy of the file and just doodles the rest of what would be eliots chest and his back and down to his upper thighs,, and while alec's on the legs might as well keep going. it's a masterpiece that would take years and a fuck ton of money to complete. but obviously alec would definitely not show this because that's not fair and not what eliot asked for. this is just for alec.
when alec and eliot are doing a sit down to discuss the draft on alecs tablet, eliot is like wow. fuck this is. amazing. he asks if alec can print out a copy since he's more of a paper guy, so alec calls over shop grunt bre to print it out. hes like, theres the one that's flat and a separate file that's warped to a body, make sure to get both. when she comes back and hands eliot the paper, he goes silent.
and alec is like something wrong? and eliot turns the paper over to reveal that bre accidentally printed out alecs doodles for a full body map. its... honestly, a masterpiece. there would be a garlic braid down eliots spine. across the chest would be a "statement necklace" of chefs knives. his arms carry a bounty greens that he uses for his main recipes. theres the hint of machinery but also brick peeking out from strategic places, and its just beautiful.
alec is so absolutely embarrassed and guilty and he apologizes so hard. but eliot is like. so. i'll pay you for the full design hours. ill need to work out a budget thatll be extended over time so obviously no way this can be right away, even if we could fit it all in quickly with your schedule. you should probably make sure the design works with the rest of my tats but.... fuck man, eventually i want this all. i never would have thought to ask for this but... you have time to walk me thru it all? i can come in again if... alec is like omg yes.
eliot and alec spend a lot of time together. parker, knowing her two favorite people are together, join them when she can to hang out. eventually, eliot just starts asking parker when she's free to make sure if he has a session, she can join. alec makes a group chat for coordinating that quickly becomes chaos, memes, and begging eliot to come over to alecs to cook for them before they die of scurvy.
and as i said, eliot realizes two or three years like, fuck, i... i... really like this person @ parker. he wishes it was just wanting to have sex with her but nope, he's all i wanna kiss her and cook her breakfast. BUT he values their friendship too much to follow up on those feelings. and then he meets alec, and then he meets alec and parker, and eliot spends all this time with them, and eliot falls deep. plus, he doesnt want to make alec uncomfortable with his attraction to either him or parker, so eliot just tries to bundle it all up.
but theres only so much they can play themselves. i am not sure of the exact moment things tumble over for the three, but they do. they do, and they confess. parker makes sure to tell eliot that duh, of course she wanted him. like:
parker: okay but I clearly came onto you like. Years One and Four and you just weren't interested
eliot: ....what. no.
parker: yes i did
eliot: no, you didn't
alec: i distinctly remember her checking in around that time your two's Year Four about potential open relationship stuff if there was someone she really really liked.
eliot: absolutely not
parker then reveals she had asked eliot what she should order from the food truck sometime in Year One, thinking it was a very clear sign of interest and trust, and Eliot got the trust part of it, and fed her something delicious and even created a dish after he bought the storefront that exactly suited her tastes, but no, no he did not detect """"interest"""" at that or any other time.
eliot, turning red: hey! that aint nothing! how was i supposed to know!
parker: it worked on hardison
alec: damn eliot you could have been in this (points between eliot and parker) and maybe eventually this (points between all three) years ago
parker: so sad you didnt read the very clear signs 😔
eliot: (lip twitch)
and they have fun and alec keeps working on eliots tats with parker chilling in the room. eventually, once alec is Finally Done, he brings eliot to tat conventions for awards/display, which he of course wins. by then they are all together to the point of basically being married so there's a bit of, Look At My Beautiful Babe Who I Love. (eliot cannot help but preen a little.)
eventually, eliot gets alec to sign his canvas with his initials plus parker's, since she helped and because Eliot Is Like That, and ill just let you guess where those ended up 👀

Bad Things Happen Bingo! The event where I give myself stupidly niche requests according to this marvelous card... or something. It's been three years dawg. (Red cross is the completed prompt, character headshots are prompts I’ve already filled).
You dislike me, Princess Ivy? We each have our tastes, I suppose, but…this makes me sad.
It's a bit of an unorthodox take on "Take Me Instead" that's tailored to my tastes, but what is fanfiction if not an expression of a thing you like? Yeah, exactly.
I may have lost myself during the making of this fanfic. Got lost in the sauce, you could say. It's very verbose and static, and I lost sight of what this fic was originally going to be about. Or was it ever about anything that wasn't writing an interaction vaguely based on a bond conversation that amused me? I'm not sure of either.
This is probably super OOC because I already don't write Camilla in a canon-compliant way, so… watch out for that! It was fun to write anyway. God I love Kagetsu so much, he truly is babygirl-coded.
The title is a bit random. I honestly didn't have better that wasn't a title I saw used elsewhere, so… oops.
-----------
Rice Vinegar
Summary: Camilla has a discussion with Kagetsu after a very rough battle against the Corrupted - out of concern and misunderstanding. Self-sacrifice is a truly ugly thing.
Fandom: Fire Emblem Engage
Word Count: 2.8K words
AO3 version available here.
Event hosted by @badthingshappenbingo.
---------------
Camilla has never been a stranger to death and bodily harm – quite the opposite, really. When she was alive, she often was the one inflicting this harm onto others, either in self-defence or in a genuine attempt to take down her enemies. It was her father’s overly ambitious mistresses, it was a mindless shell of a soldier threatening harm on her brother, it was – they all died, or died again, to her hand, her axe, her wyvern. And she had no regret about it whatsoever.
Nothing and nobody was ever sacred, when she was alive. Even alliances could fickle and she’d draw blood again. She had grown up in an environment where it made it all too easy to justify violence for all sorts of reasons, selfish or selfless, with or without consequences. It never came to pass, thanks to her dear Corrin, but the fear was here until the end of her days.
Camilla has, however, never been a stranger to self-sacrifices – mostly from other people.
She gets it, in essence. She, too, felt unconditional love for her siblings and her children, knew when to risk in a hit to save a friend, heard all of the speeches – a brother sacrificing his health for his country, a sister always ready to help anyone out of the kindness of her heart, a neighbour country’s values of honour and solidarity at times trampling a need for self-preservation. Duties and passion, abnegation, causes worth losing a life for.
It’s a noble feeling, even if noble isn’t exactly… what she’s been known for. But she gets it, she truly does – the urge to sacrifice something, that is. Her own life, though? That’s another thing. How could she protect her siblings and fight for her kingdom if she was dead? Sacrificing someone else was fine, as long as it wasn’t someone she had to protect, including herself.
Evidently, the person to who she’s been assigned doesn’t see it the way she does.
She came to learn that when in the heat of battle. They were all surrounded by flows of the Corrupted, unrelenting, the distant cackle of Griss coming to her hears. Kagetsu himself was flanked by Prince Diamant and Princess Ivy, his own liege, sword drawn and ready to strike, while flames burned in the distance and smoke stung his eyes. Despite the fact he had just exhausted his power to engage with her, she could still feel the way his legs cramped, the twitch in his sword arm after using it for so long and, most of all, the pain of the one injury he had sustained.
She couldn’t communicate with him much in this context, so she could only worry about him and the way he wouldn’t ask Princess Ivy for a quick heal with the staff she carried on her back – while she was busy blasting away with Bolganone in hands, Diamant could keep the Corrupted away for long enough so Ivy could patch her retainer.
He then froze. An archer had his eyes set on Ivy. She had her eyes somewhere else. A bleeding wound adorned her right thigh.
She couldn’t quite see Kagetsu’s face with the smoke and the way she had to hover without obscuring his vision, but what she felt spoke more than enough for him. Adrenaline pulsed in his body, so did an urge to protect his friends, and no thought was spared to his own safety. Like a good retainer, he’d throw it all away for the sake of his liege, exchanging his life for hers.
No, don’t take Princess Ivy! She heard his heart cry. Take me instead!
He rushed ahead, what was left of his ponytail dangling in the wind, blood already flowing from his left leg yet leaving no limp behind.
Diamant’s voice acted before his body ever did.
“Kagetsu, wait—”
But it was too late. His blade had already struck the archer, and an arrow had already lodged itself in his abdomen.
It’s since then all crashed down on poor, poor Kagetsu, who got sternly recommended to keep the bed by a child maybe half his size. Unable to protest in his state, he was no match for the youthful resilience of Jean, doctor in becoming, with assistance from stubborn Steward Framme. It’d have been cute, if she didn’t feel concern and so much of Kagetsu’s shame through the bracelet he was still holding on to.
Even now, watching over him in bed, she feels the shame, watches him try to toss and turn, only for his teeth to grit together. It’s an upsetting thing, even with her experience; they’re friends, and friends don’t ever like seeing their friend suffer in any way.
“I don’t understand it,” he tells her, even if it comes off as thinking out loud.
“What don’t you understand?”
Through their bond, she can tell he is upset – anxious, even, which comes off as a foreign concept to someone like Kagetsu. Moral pain like this is something that clashes with his usual personality. Perhaps there are more layers to him than she’d have thought?
“I don’t understand why Princess Ivy and Prince Diamant were so… upset. It’s like I did something wrong and it’s hurt them!”
Ah, figures.
Camilla did easily read the anguish on Ivy’s face, yes. She could tell with one insisting gaze that she was going through a lot of emotions, and while she isn’t able to tell with perfect accuracy due to not being linked to her at the moment, she can hazard a very solid guess as to what she was thinking – if just because their experiences haven’t been so different and because Kagetsu, ever the social butterfly, sees his liege a lot of the time and chats her up into unveiling some information about herself.
Although, there may be very little guessing on her part required to begin with, when she had the aftermath of the seemingly senseless sacrifice play out before her very eyes.
As soon as Ivy had finished defeating the Corrupted obscuring her view and flanking her, she had glanced back at her retainer, who now had an arrow in his side – a feat rare enough to be cited, both for the very fact it wasn’t in an easier area to reach, and for it to have lodged itself between two ribs.
She was about to scream his name, from what Camilla could see near the bracelet; but her voice was caught in her throat before she could, right as Kagetsu folded like paper onto himself.
The staff she was clutching in her hands was on the verge of rupturing, Diamant was bleeding from what Camilla could guess to be a deep gash in his side, but he insisted on her using it on Kagetsu, by virtue of him still standing and the swordman not, spotting the arrival of Framme.
So Ivy used the remaining energy left in the staff on her retainer, the tool breaking into dust as his eyes fluttered back open, an extraordinary weight to his eyelids preventing them from opening fully. His leg wound was now doing better, but the arrow remained in his chest. Right as she asked him, almost without a breath, how he was doing, his sole answer was smiling.
“I’m glad you are fine, Princess Ivy,” he said before falling back asleep.
Ivy wasn’t handling it as well as one whose father and concubines led a life of debauchery and deadly power games should’ve, in Camilla’s eyes, but she understood it. Beruka and Selena were far more important to her than political games, at the end of the day. Associate a name, a voice and a personality to a body, and then you’re suddenly much more affected by their blood flowing from their wounds. Figures.
Still, she carried on nonetheless: she brought Kagetsu on top of her wyvern to safety, watched the battle end by Diamant’s side, asked about the way he limped, scrutinized his denial, asked Framme to look at it. Kept an eye on Kagetsu. Almost refused treatment to be bedside vigil. Discussed his stillness with Zelkov, who didn’t even bother hiding all sorts of concerns. Let Jean take a look at her wound, in silence. Remained there once it was bandaged. Still watched over Kagetsu, stoic anguish never vanishing.
“Why did he do such a thing?” She asked, thinking out loud, at long last. “Putting himself in harm’s way on purpose… How reckless of him.”
There was no surprise in her voice.
“I suppose he did so to protect you,”
There was also no surprise in Zelkov’s as he replied.
“I can defend myself just fine.”
Diamant stared at the scene in silence from where he sat, nearby, face distorted.
“As any retainer would do,” he commented, eyes squinted, nailed into the form of his colleague.
“Then may he never do that again,” she immediately retorted, clutching her arms even closer to the rest of her body. “I’d have survived that without issue. He didn’t need to kill himself over me.”
The protest wasn’t a matter of pride, or else, Zelkov might’ve commented on it.
“I’m afraid it might happen again in any upcoming battle,” he told her instead. “Kagetsu and I have the mission to serve and protect you.”
“Even at the cost of your life?”
“Yes, even if it might cost us our lives.”
“Absolutely repulsive.” She was on the verge of crying. “Is he going to be fine…?”
“He should be,” Framme chimed in, now that she was done with Diamant’s leg.
“Should be?”
Framme’s shoulders shot up, stiff.
“It’s, uh… never certain. But he really should be okay! Jean’s just gonna check him over once he can and he’ll be able to go on his merry way! After some rest, of course.”
“He better be fine after this is all said and done. I won’t let him throw his life away for… such pointless reasons! I can’t… lose anyone again. Not after Hortensia and I had to…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but judging by Zelkov and Diamant’s reactions, she didn’t need to.
Grief may’ve been the one thing linking the three of them together.
Once more, this doesn’t seem to be how Kagetsu views it – or perhaps he lacks knowledge of it. Losing blood and going through intense pain does tend to tinge someone’s memory or even bleach them away. Let her see how he conceives it, then.
“You didn’t do something wrong per say,” she starts explaining, for a second picturing a sister’s confusion at their brother’s upset. “But you did something that would bring pain to those who’re closest to you, dear.”
“In what way?” He sounds so genuinely confused, and in that moment, Camilla can only understand Ivy’s pain even further. “All I did was defend my friends. Princess Ivy could have been severely hurt.”
“What about Prince Diamant? I recall you being injured as well even before the arrow struck, Kagetsu.”
“He could have gotten hurt too.”
He ignores the second part entirely, then.
“But he was just as qualified as you were to take the enemy down before they could struck Princess Ivy.”
“I’m Princess Ivy’s retainer,” he chews back, even if it lacks strength (very much because his body has all sorts of protests against the exertion). “It’s my mission to keep her safe. It is not Prince Diamant’s mission.”
Camilla wants to ask if this could apply to Zelkov as well, only to bite back on it because asking seems to be a bit of pointless endeavour.”
“Then I suppose I can only hope to make you understand why they both were so upset, Kagetsu.”
His face lightens up.
“Oh, pray and tell! It sounds like very useful information to know.”
She shifts, crossing her arms and float-sitting on the empty chair next to the bed. Framme left a little while ago, but not without a promise to come back soon. It was something about a potion and reinforcement, if she recalls correctly, but this isn’t the focus of her thoughts.
“I too had retainers in my lifetime. They were both very dear to me, to a point where it pained me when they’d get hurt, especially on my behalf.” She sighs. “Of course, protecting one’s liege is the most important mission of a retainer, and both Princess Ivy and I understand that. Still, it didn’t mean I didn’t feel guilt for letting them get hurt on my behalf – or getting hurt at all, come to think of it.”
“You would feel… guilt?”
“Among all sorts of negative emotions, yes.”
“But then, why feel upset?”
“Because they were people who I cared deeply about, and like you, I didn’t like seeing my loved ones hurt in any way. I’ve killed for them, and I’d do it again even today.” He looks slightly horrified, which prompts her to let go a little of the bloodied details of a life long past gone. “Princess Ivy cares about you in a similar way, so even if you think you did good protecting her, she’s been upset to see you hurt – just like you’d have been would your positions have been inverted.”
“So, I caused Princess Ivy pain because she cares for me?”
“Indeed.”
He remains silent for a moment, leaning back into the pillow. He looks defeated.
“Then, if I had avoided that arrow… She would not have been hurt.”
This really isn’t what Camilla wanted him to conclude. What a stubborn soul.
Unfortunately, before she can disprove his flimsy theory, he continues.
“I wish my strange powers would not be so useless. If they were not, then perhaps… perhaps I could have seen it coming, and I could have protected Princess Ivy without upsetting her by getting hurt.”
“This isn’t what I wanted you to understand,” she replies. “Your powers may’ve stopped it from happening this time, but it wouldn’t fix the issue.”
His eyes, which are still slightly glazed over, grow wider, before his face hardens again.
“What would fix the problem, then, Camilla?”
He asks that with a flame in his eyes and no chill going down his spine – a far cry from a moment ago. The bright smile has always hidden a sharp blade underneath, and now, it’s pointed towards her, light lining its edge.
“Sometimes, you can’t avoid getting hurt, especially in combat. Ivy understands that as much as you do. However, what hurt wasn’t that you were in pain.” She marks a pause. “What hurt her was that you got hurt in her stead, when you were already hurt and actively hiding it from her. She blames herself for what happened, and combined with the concern it caused her, it was painful to go through. I’d even go as far as to say she’s wondering if you trust her.”
“Oh…”
The lack of bite tells her this is finally dawning on him.
“I know you tried to do good, and deep down, I know Ivy understands that as well. She only got concerned, but that’s why you can’t always jump in front of danger and take hits for other people. What if you had been more grievously injured than you thought? Or worse, what if the blow had been fatal?”
“I see… how that would cause a lot of bad things.”
“Ivy cares about you as a person, and by doing that, you hurt her by accident, just like she would if she got injured in front of you. It’s a fine line to walk, because while you had good intentions, most of the consequences were the complete opposite of what you wanted. You also need to think of your self-preservation, when you think of taking a hit for someone else.”
“I am starting to see…”
“I don’t expect you to learn all of this in one go. If your culture is anything like Hoshido’s, it promotes sacrifice for the sake of the greater good. At least, this is what I got from fighting alongside Hoshidians.”
“Oh, please tell me more! I am curious to know about-”
A knock on the door.
“It’ll have to wait until next time, I’m afraid. It seems like you’ve got a visitor.”
“Oh!” He lightens up. “Come on in, friend!”
The door opens to unveil a slightly less anxious Ivy: her shoulders are hanging lower, her eyebrows are unknitted, and her hands aren’t fiddling as much as they did when Framme was looking over her retainer.
“It’s good to see you’re awake, Kagetsu,” she says with a timid smile. “How are you feeling?”
“A little sore, but I am alive, and soon enough, I will be full of vigour again!”
“I’m certain you will,” she chuckles, but the laugh disappears quickly. “There are things I want to discuss with you.”
She sits down, gaze unfaltering, at which point Camilla decides they deserve some privacy.

FEA character mini-analyses: blue lions as royals
Here is part 2 of explaining why I cast characters the way I did in FEA (my ongoing 3H/EAH crossover fic)! Part 1, about the Black Eagles, is linked here.
Now without further ado, let us begin!
Dedue as Hunter Huntsman: even though canon Dedue wasn't raised with Dimitri, his loyalty does suit the Huntsman's duty toward Snow White. And that's not even the half of it. Hunter's love of nature, his friendliness with animals? Such a Dedue thing. Plus, they're both axe wielders. That has to count for something.
Felix as the Charmings: I know no one could've seen this coming out of the left field--I certainly didn't. Now, Felix may not have the razzle-dazzle of Daring, or the awkward sweetness of Dexter, or the epic heroism of Darling, or... any sort of charm whatsoever, but hear me out, this is about the call of duty, yeah? It would make sense for Felix to despise the corruption of chivalry if he lost his brother to it. (Oh, and yes, of course, Glenn dies in this AU too!) This puts him in a precarious position as a Royal, since it looks like he could be swayed to the Rebel side, but let's be honest; bro's always been like that anyway.
Sylvain as Hopper Croakington III: he's... *gestures wildly* HE'S A TOAD. Having to be kissed in order to change back into a human is more Sylvain than anything else in the fairytale world. As a human, his personality is very much the opposite of Hopper's though, so in honor of that, and also because I delight in clowning Sylvain, he becomes panicky and clumsy in frog form. Only pain for Sylvain.
Ingrid as the O'Hair twins: Ingrid's dedication to her knightly duties mirrors Holly's dedication to mastering her destiny. I honestly can't say she's anything like Poppy though, other than their down-to-earth vibes. I don't know, I just felt like that long blonde hair worked well as a Rapunzel thing, okay?
Annette as Ashlynn Ella: oh now THIS is where it gets good. As the daughter of Cinderella and a Royal, Annette's every perfectionist, ambitious, overachieving quality can be maximized to their full potential, and I just love that. Not to mention, her absent father being a Cinderella thing? Stepsisters who would make her feel like she always needs to prove herself to be taken seriously? Her weird love of cleaning? Such a Cindy vibe.
Ashe as Blondie Lockes: I struggled with Ashe for a long time, but Blondie's lockpicking talents, earnest ways, and innocent-girl front were what eventually got me. And yes, I am aware. Ashe has no head of gold. But with that heart of gold, isn't anything possible? Huh, maybe I should've made him the son of Robin Hood... *remembers Sparrow* Never mind.
Mercedes as Farrah Goodfairy: the greatest tragedy in casting the FEA characters was that Mercie was too old to fit into a high school setting, no matter how I tried. But literally what would she be if not a fairy godmother! She's very powerful but unable to access most of her abilities, simply because of destiny. As a Royal, she's not bothered by this, which only slightly echoes her passive attitude toward her canon backstory, but we take what we can get. Anyway, it's also a perfect reason for why she's best friends with Annette.
And that, my folksies, is that!
The Blue Lions have such iconic dynamics, and I needed to preserve as much of those as I could through these castings. They've got that Royal story, and they do it so well.
Next up: Golden Deer!

hey amy.txt, i just watched the finale of lower decks. if you feel like it, would you share your thoughts on it? the action was great and the payoff of a whole season of little bits of foreshadowing very satisfying but Mariner forgiving everyone so easily felt a bit iffy to me. also... oh jennifer. i liked you. you feel like there's any future to their relationship?
Aw, thanks! I'm flattered that you want my opinion! Short answer: I basically agree with you. Long answer: well, it's been a while since I talked about this show...
I really enjoyed Season 3. I even liked that I didn't like the Peanut Hamper episode, because it was a truly authentic Weird Bad And Slightly Too Horny Episode Of Star Trek, and those are part of the experience whether we want to admit it or not.
And I certainly didn't dislike the finale—as you said, some supremely satisfying payoffs in there. I especially felt like the climax was a beautiful and crystal-clear execution of Mike McMahan's own personal vision of Star Trek: a bunch of smart people who like each other, solving hard problems together for the greater good (plus jokes). I think they're 3 for 3 in absolutely slamming it home.
Now here comes my great big but, lmao. The S3 finale was also the first episode of this show that felt too ambitious for a half-hour. Dare I say "overstuffed." They had so many things to pay off and so many threads to pull together, and while I think they did a good enough job... again, as you said, some of it felt pretty rushed.
I personally didn't have a problem accepting how quickly Mariner forgave everyone, because I was satisfied (...enough) with the explanation: she had a pattern of impulsive, destructive behaviour for a long time, and while she's turned over a new leaf, she recognizes it was recently enough that she still has trust to rebuild, and she's grown enough to look past her hurt feelings and commit to reconciling with the people who are most important to her—who, importantly, all just almost died, which tends to put things in perspective.
But that explanation I just wrote is three or four times more detailed than what's actually in the script, and what's there goes by very fast. (And, to be fair, efficiently! It's not bad writing by any means.) Especially compared to how long Episode 9 made us sit in the awful stomachache of everyone wrongly judging her... yeah. It doesn't feel balanced, emotionally, does it?
As for Jennifer... idk, I never got that attached. I heard an interview with Mike McMahan right after S2 in which he said (in so many words) that Lower Decks isn't a show about romance, it's about Mariner's personal growth and her friendships, and Jennifer's role in the story would mainly serve those purposes—and he said it with a real "yeahhh, don't get your hopes up" tone, lol, so what we got is about what I was expecting. (I also pretty much stopped caring about Jennifer as soon as Petra Aberdeen showed up, but that's just me being a shallow lesbian, ahem.)
I guess if Lower Decks has a "problem," it's that it's a very good Star Trek series, and a pretty good sitcom, and when it drifts too far away from the latter and towards the former, it's bound to collide with the strictures of TV animation, where 30 extra seconds in your episode adds an actual million dollars to the budget, minimum.
Now, it's not like CBS isn't shovelling more and more money at this show every year. A whole season of hour-longs is never gonna happen—so they'd better git gud about colouring inside those lines—but adding an 11th "episode" to the order, for a double-length season finale? Purely wishful thinking on my part, sure, but weirder things have happened in TV.
So yeah. No major complaints from me, but they definitely need to get this under control:
Tumblr media
Thanks again for asking! This was fun!
