Weiss really up and called dibs

My girl, Weiss, is really down bad. Between purring out ‘mature’ and her little speech to Jaune about how good of a person he is, she may as well have been shouting it from the rooftops!

For characters so built on growth, it is only right that their ship be all about it too. That’s something I’ve really appreciated about this ship, how it’s been slowly building up over the course of the show, and now we’re finally reaching that crescendo.

Anyway, I hope you all appreciate this little meme I made while on break from my next rwby edit comic. That one should be done soon. I do really like the scene this came from, and volume 9 in general. I definitely feel the Office reference fit this scene rather nicely. The volume had some great character moments and resolved some long running plot points in a very satisfying way, imo.

A Fond Farewell

With Rooster Teeth beginning its draw down, an era has truly passed. The company has lasted more than two decades. 18 (soon 19) seasons, five mini-series, and cameos and references in Halo itself for Red vs Blue. 9 volumes alongside two movies, a chibi series, Ice Queendom, and its own games for RWBY. And so much more beyond that, RT Shorts, podcasts, Achievement Hunter, The Slow Mo Guys, and on and on. That’s a lot, especially for a little startup launching off a web series. I was listening to “This Isn’t Goodbye, It’s See You Later” by Richie Branson while I was making this little memorial post. It’s a song made for another Rooster Teeth show, Camp Camp, and I have to say it’s some very appropriate music for this moment.

The day the news dropped, I wrote up a little comment in response to Rooster Teeth beginning its closing down, and I thought I’d share some of it here. I grew up with Rooster Teeth, a bit of a cheesy line I know, but it’s true for a lot of us. I was just a little kid way back in the early 2000’s, a kid that liked Halo (a game I didn’t even own for a long time, but played at a friend’s house), and was just getting curious about what I could find about it on YouTube. And that brought me into the world of music videos and skits and montages made for that little game I liked.

From there, I discovered a small web series called Red vs. Blue. I’d sneak onto my folk’s computer to watch it since they didn’t appreciate the language, and in doing so I dipped my toes into the wide world of the internet for the first time. As I got older, I eventually hopped onto Reddit for its discussion threads of Rooster Teeth’s latest show, RWBY. I began my first in-depth fandom interactions, speculating about the show, enjoying the flood of fanart, even got into fanfics about RWBY (those fics have had their own amazing evolution alongside the show) and to this day it’s the fandom I’ve followed and bookmarked the most fics from. All the while I was making friends and bonding with people through the community this company and its shows have created.

Watching the shows and people grow over time was, looking back on it, just like watching myself grow. I was never really a social media/internet kind of guy, until it came to Rooster Teeth. The shows, shorts, podcasts, it all opened up a whole new world for me. It’s sad to see it coming to a close, and I hope it gets picked up in the future. But I’m happy, too, that it’s left so much behind, and had such an impact on me. It’s left me with so many good memories. Rooster Teeth, its shows, those that created and worked on it, and above all the community around it will always have a special place in my heart.

So, I bid a fond farewell to Rooster Teeth and its crew, and anyone who may drift away from the fandom in time. I wish you all the best.

A Schnee Knows to Make Wise Investments

And Weiss is more than happy to follow through. Happy birthday, Jaune!

That said, let’s be honest here, Klein was always Weiss’ true father figure. And then came Jaune. Jacques may have been Weiss’ father, but he certainly wasn’t her daddy. Weiss and Jaune have really come so far. Amazing that their relationship is really budding now, let alone that this is actually plausible dialogue.

This meme was inspired by and adapted from a post on reddit by u/MalloYallow and the subsequent comments by u/Akumu_Oukoku and u/WeakLandscape2595 which may be found here. Cheers to them for being such fun people!

I quite enjoyed putting together panel 3 for this one, especially redrawing Jaune’s arms after cutting Ren and Yang out of the image he came from. It really shows the progress I’m making in improving my editing, since it was so much quicker and easier than that time I redrew Jaune's arms for the Therapist Ozpin meme I made like 9 months ago.

To be real though, my man Zuko couldn't even bring himself to burn Zhao in their Agni Kai. One of the clearest despicable villains in the show and the most direct obstacle in Zuko's path, and Zuko held back from going that step further in their duel.

He even tried to save Zhao from the guy's spiritual comeuppance. Zuko isn't gonna kill anybody! Not if it isn't face to face!

Prince Zuko has had a struggle to understand right from wrong, but there's always been an underlying fundamental good within his character.

He's all about that honor, and the journey is figuring out exactly what that means for him.

That said, I like the au of Zuko going off and writing down Zhao's name, alongside maybe a few pirates.

Or, go even further beyond, and Dark(tm) Zuko clears the way to the throne!

Anyway, have Avatar on the mind lately, really like the way they have Zuko's good peek through in little things like that. Really helped make the redemption arc.

Thought I'd share this with tumblr since I threw it together for a reddit comment. White Knight Shippers have grown quite emboldened with recent events. They have more reason than most to be pretty confident in their ship.

I mean, at this point Jaune and Weiss have expressed rather deep admiration for one another as well as attraction. That's more than most. And that's not getting into the slow build-up of their relationship over the course of the show.

Or *gasp* that hug!

Not to mention the lingering touch they held as they drew apart from said hug.

I'm still geeking out over Volume 9 if you couldn't tell.

Taking Out the Trash

This is essentially how I see the story going now that we’re back to Remnant. Jaune and Weiss are definitely gonna settle the score with Cinder, in a Bumbleby v Adam-esque final fight imo. A lot building up to this; Pyrrha, Cinder almost killing Weiss, Penny's sacrifice, Jaune's ongoing conflict with Cinder, the way it would really hit Cinder if Ruby didn't focus on her and goes after Salem instead, the way Cinder thinks Jaune is beneath her and is outraged over the thought that he could have killed her and on and on. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to Ruby being part of that fight.

And hey, Cinder’s already made something of a dumpster fire out of her quest for power. Really her greatest achievements seem to be the result of working with the people around her; Torchwick, Watts, Neo, Emerald and Mercury. Increasingly though, Cinder’s becoming isolated, in no small part due to herself. That's all coinciding with the show’s theme of the importance of trust and cooperation bringing about strength and the resolution of the world’s and individual’s problems. Not hard to imagine where Cinder will wind up after taking the opposite path.

I originally intended to just edit Cinder in place of Marrow in the scene where Weiss is dragging him across the room. Put a good amount of work into fixing up that background, too. But a brilliant suggestion by Mallobaude to add a dumpster in the corner of the room changed my mind, and with a change of scene and a bit more editing we gained the nice scene we see before us now. The reference scene I took the background from is just brilliant, Weiss literally throwing a racist guy in the trash.

Anyway, I thought it was a fun idea to make my own little version of that meme trend I referenced in the 1st panel, with the rest of this little comic putting a bit of a twist on it actually being Weiss who’s all set to take care of Cinder. Hope you all enjoy!

The Best Laid Schemes

The best laid schemes go oft astray. Poor Weiss, bet she’d been practicing lines in her head all day. And speaking of, Jaune certainly wasn’t too quick to recruit everyone else for his little trip, once he saw Weiss was onboard. Wouldn’t be surprised if he went through a line or two on the way over as well.

Even if they are now somewhat overshadowed by the immaculate story we’ve been blessed with in Volume 9, pre-Volume 9 White Knight moments are still very good. They’ll always have a place in my heart.

Some of you may have noticed me sneak in a not-so-subtle little Parks and Recreation Reference there. Love that show, and I quite like the idea of Weiss taking on a bit of a Leslie Knope edge while she tries to rebuild Atlas and Mantle, which makes Ruby Ann Perkins.

The Ol' Isolation Arc

Give it just a bit of thought, and you come to realize just about every character in RWBY follows the same character arc.

I like to think about this every now and then. Every character in the show gets their own little isolation arc or two where they are either broken by the problems they face or open up to friends to help them along. It's quite the overarching theme in the show, control vs cooperation, secrets vs trust, and so on.

Didn’t originally intend for this meme to leave off on that sad note, originally expected to have my standard 3 panels and leave it with the low-hanging joke about Yang being disarmed. But it just isn’t quite right if a Therapist Ozpin meme doesn’t draw upon the parallels between characters.

A Text Between 'Friends'

Jaune with that anime protagonist energy when it comes to signals from the women in his life. Some might say he acts as a stand-in for the audience (I’m sorry guys, just joshing you). Well, this time Weiss has decided to take drastic measures to finally convince Jaune!

I've got to say, I think the pictures they (I) chose for each other as their contact pics are awfully cute.

The way canon is going, the future certainly looks bright, with the two having expressed both attraction and admiration for each other’s character, and given us more than a few examples of love language between them I might suggest. The winds are with the SS White Knight, full steam ahead!
