Headcanon

If Blackfire ever were to stay on Earth for longer (while still being herself and having her powers and abilities and all) for whatever reason, she would definitely go into… um, I don’t know the right term. Vlogs, I guess? Influencing? Idk. Something like that. S he would definitely do something where people can watch her do things.

She would very much not mention that she’s an alien, probably pick some earthen alias too to make her being an actual human more believable; and she might start with simple, do-able things, but she’d soon be one to ‘start challenges’ or give ‘advice’ to people on how to do something that’s simply impossible for humans. She would use that she’s more resilient, and for example swallow a cloth-cleaning pod whole and tell people that if they don’t bite it open they can eat them just fine. Or lay herself naked into snow (would gain watchers/attention simply from being naked, probably) and tell people that if they do this for a whole day without breaks they’d never feel bothered by the cold anymore. People would likely die trying to do what she says is fully possible if only they know how to, and she’d have a lot of fun over that.

Another example: “Oh, everyone can lift a car! It’s just that no one uses the right method. First, you need some way to have the car above you, a cliff, a machine lifting it, a superhero friend, who knows. And once you have that, you position yourself right in the middle of the car, raise your hands up - it’s important you aren’t touching the car yet, and don’t look up! - and focus. Focus on your strength, on your arms, and then tell whoever helps you to drop the car. And you’ll be holding it, just like me now - easy!” And she’d continue to twirl the car around a little or something, all too excited for hearing how many people will end up being smashed by cars (or similarly heavy objects).

I could probably continue this list with more examples, but I’m gonna not mention any more, I think I gave enough examples with this.

Also - She would totally pick some random humans she encounters to comment how they totally succeeded with her methods. Maybe some fake-proof images or videos added in, too. She has methods to pay them for doing so, so it’d help increase the fun.

Can you talk more about Arianne and Daemon ? Seriously they are my favorite couple I even have a headcanon that Arianne will be pregnant with Daemon I mean it's more a parallel with Asha's possible pregnancy (pairs between Martells and greyjoys) and Daemons are so fertile hahahaha (Daemon Targaryan Daemon Blackfire) even begin another family but Martin chose the same name and Daemon Sand's father has twins in addition to him...

Anyway I don't see any chance of marriage/ engagement or Arianne's love interest in Aegon it just won't be happening,I see them having a friendship relationship and a strengthening of the family bond , with Ari being a guide for his cousin ( so much potential). This is a bullshit she doesn't want to be queen but Dorne anda her father love. I just want Arianne to be able to be happy white someone who respects her and see her more than just a pretty body and face, and Daemon strikes me as perfect.

I really don't want Arianne to be pregnant because it seems to me like needless drama and just all around bad timing – she's serving as an envoy. There's a war going on. And I feel like her words to Elia kind of apply to her, as well – kiss all the boys you want when you're home in Dorne, but this is so not the time. Sure, she propositions Daemon, but she didn't actually sleep with him. Also, Arianne canonically uses moon tea for birth control. So I'm hopeful there will be no baby unless she lives to the end of the series.

But I think her relationship with Daemon is just so unique in terms of all the relationships we see in the series – they were children doing this entirely on their terms. They were the same age. They just liked each other, and so engaged in a relationship without fear over consequences.

I think in recent years, there's been a weird rise in people forgetting that tropes are tools and not fundamentally good or bad. One of the ways this manifests in particular is hating "childhood friends to lovers" or people winding up with their first love. I don't have hard stances on the kind of relationships in fiction I find interesting or boring. Mostly for me, it's contextual – what is compelling in ASOIAF to me is not the same as what's compelling in another work. And while I certainly agree that there are situations in which a childhood friends to lovers angle may be boring, I think in the ASOIAF context, Arianne and Daemon's childhood sweethearts angle is actually extremely compelling.

For a start, this isn't a people-staying-with-their-middle school-boyfriend-forever scenario. It's the fact Arianne and Daemon had a relationship, broke up, lived near a decade having separate lives with Arianne certainly having other relationships and Daemon probably also doing the same, and are potentially coming back together.

For another, I really, really like what Arianne/Daemon would mean for Arianne as a character. I've said before that she's my favourite ASOIAF character. But even outside of my own personal bias, think about the type of fics that get written about her. It's hard to identify this for certain, because AO3 tagging is just so messy, and navigating through Arianne's tag is a lost cause, but mostly, fic!Arianne is just three sliders of stupidity, horniness, and ambition. Which is just so, so not book Arianne, at all.

Arianne is unique amongst the most important female characters of ASOIAF. She's is not the heir presumptive, she's the heir apparent. Dorne will be hers. And she is a descendant of Nymeria, the most recent in a long line of rulers of Dorne. Her family is central to Dorne's cultural memory, as it was Nymeria and Mors that turned the collection of states into a unified nation. So unlike, say, the Tyrells or Freys, who determinedly pursue these grand matches in a way of compensating for their relatively recent history, Arianne...doesn't really need to do that? Like, she can just marry a bannerman and it would be totally fine.

Furthermore, Arianne clearly has more rights of refusal than most women, and she is not shy about using them - these are real rights she has. I can imagine her feeling more pressure to accept if offered a candidate that wasn't clearly a joke, but given the setting, this is true for everyone. The fact remains, Arianne has options, and since she's going to be a ruling princess, those options are broad.

But despite all of this, her marital prospects are a huge theme. Doran offers her elderly suitors. Daemon and Drey wanted to marry her. There was an entire marriage pact that no one bothered to tell her about. Arianne intends on bartering her own hand, and thinks about how whoever she weds would rule Dorne by her side.

How does all this connect to Daemon? Because he's a nobody. Okay, sure, that's a little extreme – he's a knight, the son of an important lord, and the former squire of a prince. But even though that is the case, he is still a bastard. His father has at least two legitimate children. This isn't a case like Ellaria, in which the set up makes it extremely reasonable to think that her father's land and title will one day fall to her and her daughters - Daemon will not inherit anything. Meaning if Arianne were to marry him, or even just obviously choose him as her partner without a marriage? It would be for her.

There might be some political benefits, given that Daemon is clearly on good terms with his father, but very indirectly, and not nearly to the extent that would be the case with other marital candidates. It cannot be considered anything resembling a political move. So Arianne choosing Daemon would be her taking control over her life, making the choices she wants, for her. It would be her choosing a Dornish spouse that has ties to her family beyond just her alone. It would be her in a position where she can safely choose to make her life with a person that she loves, that isn't the best political choice.

It would be her choosing someone that is deeply, fundamentally tied to Dorne - not just because he's Dornish, but because he is a bastard, because he was once a child in the Water Gardens, because he attended the feast for Balon Swann and did not drink upon the toast to Tommen. Arianne drank. Doran drank. But Daemon did not. Daemon is clearly still in love with Arianne. There is a reason their relationship was never the same after Doran rejected him for her. He loves her enough to serve as her sworn shield and beg her to allow him to go into a dangerous situation in her place. But he has his own mind, and his own beliefs, and his Dornish identity is a big part of that.

We've seen very little of Daemon. But from what we have, he sees Arianne in a way that few do. Doran didn't understand what was going on with her at all. Arys and Areo both clearly had images of her in their heads that didn't quite align with reality. But Daemon, despite their relationship having never recovered fully and despite Doran being so much like Arianne that one would really think he should understand her more than he does, gets her more than anyone else. He understands the strained relationship with Quentyn and that Arianne maybe isn't so desperate to have her little brother return. He sees bits of Arianne in Elia. He literally finishes some of her sentences.

Of all the people Arianne could ever engage in a relationship with, I think Daemon, more than any other character, represents her making her own choices and coming into her own as the ruling princess of Dorne.

Random headcanon: Tamaraneans evolved from cats, right? Well, she used to have a little tail when she was a little girl and Blackfire would use it as way to make fun of her. She later found out that Blackfire used to have one too when she was younger and it was even longer than hers, but it went away after a long while. Starfire started teasing her about this since she found out from this that she wasn't so different from her either. Blackfire hated it and felt embarrassed and Starfire's tail later went away too

Unpopular opinion: I really hate whenever people trash on her character just because she's sweet and friendly and isn't their type of character or a "bad, hot, cool" girl like Blackfire. It just doesn't make any sense, since there's no reason to do that just because she's not how they prefer. We've all got different tastes and if she doesn't fit yours, that's fine, but don't get mad because of it. If all characters were the same, it would be very boring because there's nothing unique or special about any of them anymore, they're all just a bunch of predictable clones after that. If they like Blackfire or whatever other baddie type, then they should stay focused on them and be happy instead of insulting other ones that other fans already love, just because it's not fitting only their preference. She's a beautiful, poweful Tamaranean named Starfire, who's fierce, joyous, friendly, and a wonderful person with a big caring heart and that's what makes her awesome in her own way! No need for her to become like her sister or anyone else to be "better".

picking a favorite ship is so hard, because im a multishipper and real big on leaving my options open so that i have the most opportunity in any given story!! like, brudick and sladick are both ones i love for dark stories, but they each give such different angles and paths that you can take. all combinations of robins are dear to me for different reasons. and even within the context of one ship, i can usually come up with a lot of different directions that they can go it!!

i can't even say "X is my favorite for Y types of stories" because with a good pairing theres so much you can do with a variety of types of stories!! so. def cant pick a favorite, but i can list some that i like! they mostly involve Dick, bc my biases are quite obivious, lol.

Dick ships: Bruce, Slade, Talia, Slade/Talia, Tim, Jason, Steph, Damian (but it depends a lot on context, i see Dick as being very careful about not taking advantage), any poly robins combo, Slade/Rose, Tara

other ships: Slade/Rose, Slade/Talia, any robins together, Bruce/Talia (but only if Talia is having daddy issues about it), Nyssa/Talia (Nyssa repeatedly kills and revives her to make her understand her anger at Ra's. the rituals. they're intricate i swear-)(but also in arkham knight Nyssa compares her love for Talia to Bruce's explicitly romantic love for Talia and i've never been normal about that), any combo of the Al Ghuls tbh they're so mentally ill about each other

fic ideas!!! i have some shorter ones, like a Blackfire/Robin non-con based on that one scene from tt03, but i kinda wanna take this chance to ramble about my longer ideas!

u may have seen some of these, but i have a series called "days without incident" which is a bunch of shorter than usual fics stringing together random semi canon compliant scenes of Dick being in dangerous sexual situations, which are eventually going to end in a rlly angsty fic of Dick being assaulted and just accepting it. it sounds dark, and it is, but due to the length and format they really just serve as quick writing warm-ups more than anything.

DIDick AU. a friend of mine has been on the receiving end of so many DMs of me fleshing out these alter OCs, to the point that it would feel weird if I didn't write anything for it. the problem is that when I think about it, it all revolves around characters and there's no real plot line to use for it. I could just rant about it, bc figuring out what I want to do for a story about them is really tricky. it's also tough bc it's a teeny bit more personal than I usually go for. do /I/ have DID? unclear. I probably wouldn't tell you either way. anyways, it's an idea i want to more with but it's just more complicated to work on than most others.

suicide fic. "Where The Dead Stay Dead", title in reference to this being in a "Jason Stays Dead AU". i want to take a sort of dark comedy direction, but i have trouble controlling how the tone ends up when I write. Dick tries to kill himself post Jason's death + many other bad times but Slade just happens to pop in to try and bother him that day, and is uh. he doesn't know how to feel about it, the kid dying in front of him, but he drags Dick to a safe house and does some made-up comic book science fuckery to give Dick his healing factor. Dick is not very happy about this when he wakes up. the rest of the story follows an arrangement where Dick searches for a way to perma die and is generally a depressed grumpy bitch about everything, and Slade secretly tries to get him to stop doing that while trying to figure out a way to revive Jason. whichever ends up being easier. a lot of it would probably just be about Slade feeling lost with this "new" version of Dick, as well as the two of them swapping stories about dead loved ones and learning how to mourn.

timcel fic. that was the placeholder title, before i settled on "Nature's Order (As Told From Alpha To Beta)", but i still call it the timcel fic for short <3 the alpha in that title is Ra's, and the beta is Tim. the kick off for the story is that Ra's kidnaps omega Dick to use as a human incubator bc he and Talia had a spat that's left him heir-less, and he kidnaps Tim to make Dick more compliant. it's a really extreme take on "right wing alpha male pipeline, but omegaverse". it's gonna be a lot of bad times for Dick <3 i've talked about it so much with my friend that one time they mentioned basing smth partially off of Nature's Order Tim, and I think that's a good sign that I should really be writing this properly at this point. I have started chapter one! but bc it's gonna be a long one I want to get three chapters done before I start posting, bc having a few extra chapters written will help with my nerves a bit.

Back from my long-ass hiatus to post my Sunny Tennyson redesign! I don’t even remember if she was in omniverse, but her character design - much like Gwen’s - REALLY annoyed me. Also, I feel like it’s such a missed opportunity to do some girl emo/goth designs. (And who doesn’t love a good emo and/or goth character???) All these look are very e-girl inspired!!

The first look is definitely my favorite and it’s e-girl slash early 00′s mall goth. The bob works so much better for her than Gwen imo and gosh... any excuse for space buns and piercings...

Also I’m going to use this as an excuse to dump some of my Sunny headcanons:

Her character used to always bother me because she’s LITERALLY just Blackfire from teen titans (recolor of redhead protagonist who’s evil) and I hate when writers take easy way outs like that. However, she’s started to really grow on me because I feel like she could be a great foil to Gwen a la Kevin. 

She’s three years older than Gwen. (Because I really hate that they’re all supposed to be the same age? Like mix it up) But her parents always compared her to Gwen growing up so she resented her.

She’s Gwen’s maternal cousin, while Ben is Gwen’s paternal cousin. (Also ties into my headcanon that Verdona is Gwen’s maternal grandmother and had no relation to Max.) This ties into further headcanons I have but basically: Gwen’s dad is brothers with Ben’s dad (canon) and Gwen’s mom is sisters with Sunny’s mom (headcanon). I headcanon Gwen’s mom as super preppy/ country club-esque and Sunny’s mom as more chill, type B personality. 

I have to competing headcanons about her witchcraft and I really can’t decide which I like more. 1) She realized her powers WAYYY later than Gwen. (Gwen realized hers at 10 but she realized hers at 15.) But by the time Gwen’s ~19 y/o or general college age, Sunny has WAY surpassed Gwen in skill. This makes Gwen really jealous. The reason is Sunny has always been into witchcraft so she came in with a ton of more knowledge than Gwen, who’s more preppy. I also headcanon Gwen to have not trained from post original series to fifteen years old because she was suppressing that side of her life. 2) Alternatively, Sunny’s whole aeshetic is witch-craft and gothic stuff, and she’s SUPER jealous that Gwen, her preppy cousin has witch powers but she doesn’t. (She finds out Gwen’s a witch and Ben’s an alien at 18 and is like WHAT?) No matter how much Sunny studies, she will *never* be a witch, which reallly pisses her off. This adds to her already heavy resentment of Gwen for things she can’t control.

She’s constantly like whyyyyyy does my preppy cousin have a cool alt boyfriend but I don’t??? How is that fair??? To me??

I feel like she’d have a HUGE tiktok following for spiritual advice, funny but mean videos, and do all the sound trends. (Maybe fandom stuff?) Huge on witch tok, ironically.

Because she’s cousins once-removed with Ben, they’re not close at all. Both feel neutral towards each other. (But she’s way nicer to Ben than Gwen.)

Also, maybe Gwen always felt jealous that Sunny’s mom was wayyy less judgmental than her mom. (e.g. I imagine that Gwen’s mom would NEVER let her dye her hair or dress alt). But Gwen never told Sunny this.

Their relationship is a vicious cycle because Gwen assumes the best in people so she’ll always be nice to Sunny and this just adds to Sunny’s resentment of her. (”Why does she have to be Miss Perfect? Just get mad like a real person.”)

I also have this really detailed headcanon about her bullying Gwen, but it would probably fit best as a fic, so I’ll post a link if/when I write it!

I’m definitely gonna work on Gwen redesigns because... her omniverse design is AWFUL!!

Also, at some point, I want to draw the anti trio of Sunny, Ken (Gwen’s brother), and maybe Rook as the third character?

Anyway, I am nothing but a wealth of Ben 10 opinions 

Oop, also, I made her boobs smaller because I HATED how omniverse designed female body types lmao. Like your boobs are usually proportion to your body weight, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to be huge the way they are drawn.

Personally I agree with the Talia analysis. I've read her early comics and I don't think her current version is as unrecognisable as people think. Especially since Son of the Demon isn't canon in main continuity, Morrison took some inspiration from it for his Batman run, but the SotD story itself still an Else World Tale.

Also hard agree on the annoyance that DC are turning so many villainesses good recently: Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Cheshire, Ursa, Killer Frost, Blackfire, Magpie, and Star Sapphire. Lady Shiva recently has been written quite antihero-y lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's next. There's no need for anymore, it's overdone already.

I get why the female villains are so often "redeemed": many of the female villains are more popular than the heroines. They've got cooler designs, their backstories are usually sympathetic, and they get used more because often they're tied to the popular male heroes. I even think redeeming some of them could work... except the way they're "redeemed" is just a huge turn off for me. Often it comes with nonsensical retconning of their background so they were never actually a villain in the first place - see Tom King retconning Ivy to have never killed anyone ever after the Poison Ivy stans lost their shit on Twitter - which isn't a redemption at all in my book. There's no struggle to make amends, no reckoning with the damage they caused, no confrontation with the victims of their crimes, they just move from the villains to the heroes side of the moral line. Furthermore the vocal proponents of redeeming the female villains usually don't actually like the characters as they truly exist in the comics. Instead they've got their headcanon versions of these characters and essentially want DC to make their fan fic canon.

Of the ones you listed I'm ok with Cheshire becoming more like her animated Young Justice incarnation, not a hero but a sympathetic anti-villain. Star Sapphire was always mind controlled/possessed so she has an out for her actions. Poison Ivy just recently murdered everyone in a factory/chemical plant except one woman who reminded her of Harley, so she's a villain, there's no way I buy her as an anti-villain let alone an anti-hero. Ursa is still a villain last I checked. Killer Frost I guess has become an anti-hero? Didn't really care for that but she's basically disappeared. Blackfire is still a villain in the recent Titans United miniseries. When the hell was the last time Magpie even showed up in anything? Anyway she was a (minor) villain still last I saw.

Which leaves the big one: Harley Quinn. Perhaps the all time worst example of how to redeem someone ever. It's been amusing to see writers wrestle with how the hell you can possibly redeem the girlfriend of The Joker. On one hand they've sort of acknowledged that most people still hate Harley's guts, I believe the current Harley Quinn ongoing has Harley dealing with people she hurt during her time by Joker's side. On the other hand DC is still trying to have it both ways, with an example of how so being Clownhunter's origin. Tynion set up that Harley got Bao's parents killed. Great! I was excited to see how that kind of trauma would impact both Harley and Clownhunter. Then we actually saw the origin and no it turns out Harley didn't kill them, Joker did, Harley wasn't even in the room when Joker killed them. She just got them indirectly killed by asking Joker to eat dinner with her at Bao's parents' restaurant. DC knows that Harley must have been a participant in heinous crimes if she was running around with the Joker, but they don't want to actually show her past as a criminal. They want you to feel sorry for Harley being a domestic abuse victim, and root for her on her quest to become a hero, but don't want to acknowledge that Harley created other victims herself by being a willing participant in Joker's crimes.

Not that simply ignoring Harley's crimes can't work out; Injustice does exactly that and I guess people love that version. Me however? Most "heroic" Harley I can accept is the Harley Quinn animated show incarnation. She's a selfish shithead even after leaving Joker, and is not a good person, but clearly better than she was while working with Joker. That's a take I can live with, still a villain (or anti-villain) but one that has a greater deal of likeability than before. Becoming a member of the Batfamily/Justice League however? Unless she brings everyone back from the dead that she directly or indirectly killed I can never buy that.

hcs about the team remembering that they beat up/killed gar and the aftermath 2x1 because it didnt seem like they mention it after (it can also be from the super parents au or just regular canon)

ooo now we're getting into where I switch canon up even more!

so in the au I can't see Dick leaving Gar with Angela and since Gar would have been with Dick in this universe's "Donna Troy" episode, he would have came to the Azarath home with Dick and Donna just in time to see Kory (who instead of getting memory back because she already has hers, she gets taken over by Blackfire for a moment while Rachel tries to heal her. Yes I'm setting up Blackfire this earlier on) almost kill Rachel. When Kory leaves to find her space ship for answers, Dick, Donna and Gar follow her and since Gar goes along he can't be poisoned by Angela and he gets possessed by Trigon just like everyone else because he follows after Dick and Kory through the force field when he wasn't supposed to. So no one kills him (because I hated that so much. if they weren't going to address it later on don't do it. there was no point in killing him) and we get to see what nightmare that breaks him is.

how they all break free? Dick. Dick is a badass. Not even Trigon can stop this man's parental instincts to keep his kid safe. He pulls Kory out of her nightmare first so she can help Rachel while he helps Gar out of his. With all of them free, the episode goes on like normal. Rachel destroys Trigon, gets her gem and the new Titans (including Kory; not Jason) move to Titans Tower since neither of the houses they lived in have enough room for four people. Then season 2 begins which is heavily Gar focused because he deserves a whole season in the spotlight.

as for hcs in canon... there's not really any? besides me wishing the Titans beating/killing Gar never happened because it's pointless and the writers dropped the whole thing after Jason hints at it and Gar mentions it both in 2x02. But if I had to think of a headcanon that's not really a hc but just me messing around with the writers shitty ability to write characters, Gar's character changed so much from 2 - 3 because he changed. After dying, his powers hit the reset button and the Gar we have now is a different one from the one we met in s1. Every time he dies, he gets brought back as a different version of Gar.

RobStar Week 2020, Day 6 - Wedding Bells

Argent made one last adjustment to the little jeweled tiara that crowned Starfire's veil and then stepped back in satisfaction.

"There we are," she declared.  "Done!"

Starfire beamed widely, extending her arms to look herself over, pinching handfuls of the swishy satinesque white skirt and giving it little twirls.

"Ooh girl, Robin is just gonna faint!" Bumblebee crowed in approval, from her spot by the window.

She giggled in agreement.

The dress was perfect.  Light white sequined lace all up her arms, dipping down across her collar in a subtle sweetheart neckline, ending at her waist where the billowing skirt began.  She'd gone full Western traditional--for this ceremony at least--with all the something olds and something blues as part and parcel of her lovely ensemble.

She could hardly keep her feet on the ground, floating up a few inches off her strappy white heels.

Raven gave a smile as she took Starfire's wrist and gently tugged her back to earth.  "How are you feeling?" she asked, for Starfire's sake as she could already feel the quivering joy and excitement rushing through the Tamaranian's body.

"I am... nervous?" Starfire replied.  Her hands wrung together.  "But also excited and also happy and... Oh Raven I cannot believe it is finally happening!" she gushed.

"Congratulations love," said Argent.  "Truly."

There was a quiet click as the bedroom door closed, a hesitant figure slipping in.

"Do you have everything packed for when you leave for Tamaran tomorrow?" Blackfire asked, eyes anxious.

"I believe so..." Starfire mused, taking a quick look around the guest bedroom.  "Oh!" she cried.  "My favorite hairbrush!" she said, spotting it still on the vanity.  "I will need that in the bag before we go."

Blackfire nodded.  "I've got it," she promised.

She took a few steps in that direction and then paused, feet rooting, evasive eyes raising seriously, fixing on her sister.

"You look... absolutely beautiful, little sister," she said quietly.

Starfire's glow dimmed, her eyes softening a little.  "Are you certain you will not attend the ceremony and wedding feast on Tamaran?" she asked.

Blackfire gave a wry, self-hating smile and shook her head.  "I get the feeling our dear loyal subjects wouldn't be too happy to see me around," she said.  She tried to shrug in a way that was casual and unaffected.  "It's okay.  Wildfire and I were planning to jet off around the Scarpia Cluster after everything anyway."

Starfire reached out, gently grasping her sister's hand with a sincere look.  "For the record," she said, "you would have a place at my wedding, if you wished it."

The facade of indifference slipped off Blackfire's face, her eyes stinging, as she dropped her chin, mumbling a soft, "Thanks.  But I don't think I'm quite... ready for that yet."

"Understood."

Starfire let go and stepped back, checking over her dress once again  and looking around the room.

"Has anyone seen Silkie?" she asked.

"He was with Robin and the boys last I checked," Raven told her, finishing up with the clasp of her necklace and letting it drape over the collar of her bridesmaid's dress.  She tilted her head up.  "Speaking of..." she commented dryly, giving an amused smirk.  "I should probably go check on him now."

Starfire giggled knowingly.  "Is he doing the freaking out?" she queried.

"You know him," she drolled.

"Tell him if he ruins that tux I will absolutely 'ave his head," Argent grumbled, picking up the loose pieces of ribbon on the floor as she and Kole finished winding together the boutonnieres, handing one to Raven before the empath walked out the door.

Robin paced agitatedly back and forth, wringing out the hems of his sleeves.

"Flowers on the altarpiece?" he asked Cyborg.

"Yep."

"And you've got the music all queued up?"

Cyborg looked vaguely offended at that.  "You would dare doubt me?" he said.

Robin's face pinched.  "Cyborg..." he groaned.

"I've got it, Rob," Cyborg reassured him.  "Pachelbell's Canon in D for the processional, Mendelsson for the recessional, all your favorite love songs as pre-ceremony mood music."

Robin nodded stiffly, his hands coming up, wringing in his hair.  "Three hours for the reception," he recited to himself, under his breath.  "Two more to finish packing for Tamaran..."

"Dude, would you just relax," Beast Boy complained, watching from his perch on Robin's bed, curled up indian-style with his chin pillowed in his hands.  "You're gonna give yourself a heart attack."  He straightened up, a sudden look of concern in his eyes.  "Have you even eaten anything yet?"

Robin shook his head.  "Can't.  Too nervous."

"No way are you skipping breakfast, you're gonna faint at the wedding for sure!" the changeling declared, leaping up from the bed.

He nearly bumped into Raven on his quest to find Robin some food.

"Pardon me!" he squeaked, darting around her.

Raven let him pass her, then stepped into the room, crossing to Robin, who already had an apologetic look on his face.

"Sorry," he said, forcing himself to quit pacing and face her.  "I'm projecting aren't I?"

"Loudly," Raven confirmed, reaching up to pin his boutonniere in place.  "What's got you so worked up anyway?  I thought you'd be happier about marrying Starfire."

He sighed, raking a hand up through his bangs.  "I am, I am, I promise I'm just--"  He fixed her with a serious look.  "You know just how many things can go wrong at one wedding?" he asked.  "And we had the stupid idea to have two."   He pressed his heels into his eyes, groaning.  "And there's a whole host of traditions and rules to remember when we get to Tamaran and I keep thinking I'm just going to embarrass her in front of her court and her people and--"

"Robin," Raven interrupted sternly.  She grabbed hold of one his wrists, pulling it down from his face.  "Listen to me: It doesn't matter if you do or don't mess something up, if something does or doesn't go wrong," she told him.  "If at the end of the day you wind up married, then the wedding is a success.  Please relax," she ordered, siphoning off some of his anxiety with her powers.

Robin blinked, slightly in a daze for a moment before the tension eased out of his shoulders.  "Ngl," he complained.  "Warn me next time you're going to do that."

"You'll thank me later," she droned, grabbing up his jacket from where it hung on the chair and handing it over to him.

Pleasant sunlight streamed down on their heads as the Titans fluttered excitedly around the Manor's garden in anticipation.  Two other teams had managed to make it for the ceremony on Earth--Titans East and Titans Oceanic, mostly, plus one Kid Flash and of course Blackfire and Wildfire.  The rest would be joining them for the wedding on Tamaran, an affair that promised to be even more grandiose and magnificent.

For now, Robin was content to celebrate with his mentor and father figure and his closest friends, in the backyard of his childhood home.

A wind lifted the pale ribbon streamers, and flower petals from the blossoming trees drifted lazily on it.  He tramped his feet anxiously, waiting for Speedy's signal that things were ready and the wedding could proceed.

Finally, spotting the archer from across the way, Robin straightened to attention.  Speedy was giving the thumbs up.  Bruce was squeezing his shoulder comfortingly.

Everything was ready.

He was going to get married.

Robin couldn't stop the prickles of energy coursing through him, igniting his heart.  He could barely hear the lilting strings of the Canon as he watched Argent and Kole and Bumblee and Raven float down the aisle on the arms of their attendants.

There was a pause as the Titans scrambled to rise to their feet.

And then there she was.

She practically glowed joy, the way she moved down the aisle making it clear that she couldn't keep from floating.  Cyborg looked like was having a bit of trouble holding onto her, in fact, as he walked her down the aisle, but the big grin on his face told Robin that he didn't mind in the least.

Robin could feel his own grin cracking the edges of his jaw.  He must've looked so stupidly happy.

Starfire giggled as she came within range, descending lightly to her feet and standing there with the sunlight caught in her red hair, a perfect picture of bridal bliss.

Robin felt so dizzyingly glad to see her that he got physically dizzy for a moment, tilting back on his feet.

Beast Boy caught him before he wobbled too much, pushing him back upright.

"Told you you needed eat something," he muttered.

The pastor behind them at the altar cleared his throat, raising his book of devotional readings as the music faded out.

"Our beloved friends and family, we are gathered here today..."

The bride and groom couldn't take their eyes and smiles away from each other the whole time.

Why do you ship Jinx and Raven? The reason is that I ship BBRae and StarfireXRaven (Well not in Teen Titans in Alternate DC Universes)

TLDR: 

-I’m a lesbian, that’s why. 

Long answer: 

( THIS IS NOT A BASH ON  BB/Rae SHIPPERS, U JUST ASKED FOR MY PERSONAL OPINIONS;; )

-Beast Boy is afraid of Raven & her powers and uses his goofs to power through that instinctual? response. While he demonstrates far more maturity in some of the older comics (which I approve of well enough), he’s not equipped to handle a relationship with Raven in the cartoon. Even in fanworks, the only time he comes across with any centering, is when he’s depicted in animal form; I find that incredibly telling. -I can’t get behind shipping their original cartoon counterparts, since I’m personally NOT a fan of the “annoy the girl till she likes you” tropes that a LOT of media push into het relationships.  the whole “opposites attract” thing is… not an excuse? If they weren’t part of the same crime-fighting team, I doubt Raven and Beast Boy would have any shared interests AT ALL, which leads me to believe that Raven is more of a victim of heteronormativity than anything else. You can’t look at her and tell me she’s not composed of queer coded markers, lol. &  Admittedly a lot of my dislike for this ship boils down to my absolute hatred of the “loveable douchbag” trope forced down everyone’s throats since the 80′s/90′s. Don’t get me wrong, I Iike Beast Boy as a character and he works well as a friend, I just don’t see the Raven/BB “no really! he’s her ‘missing half’! He’ll ‘change her for the better’ and ‘get her out of her shell’!” appeal. 

Personally, I feel that out of all the Titans, Beast Boy is the one most affected by Raven’s demonic aura. That he can smell the unsettling demonic signature in her body & it sets the animal instincts off within him to be exceedingly wary around her, which he feels guilty about, and is why he tries so hard to come across to Raven as though it doesn’t actually bother him, and like he’s completely fine with her and her ‘creepy’ bits; not knowing that his denial and good intentions, actually make it harder for Raven to trust him & feel comfortable around him, as his forced joviality sets off her empathic warning bells. There isn’t much either one of them can do about the state of things however, so they try to ignore it best they can, though Beast Boy feels like Raven’s biting sarcasm and passive aggression is a silent challenge for him to work harder around her and Raven mostly just feels tired.    

*Coercing a girl into saying yes just cause she’s tired of saying no & she thinks everyone expects her to give into him eventually anyways, is NOT a fun ship dynamic for me. 

-Starfire & Robin I ship together, but as they grow into Kori and Nightwing I actually headcanon that they keep an open invitation for Raven to join them; both Starfire and Robin/Nightwing handle Raven’s abilities and personal boundaries a lot better, especially in the older comics. I don’t think Raven would join them as a permanent fixture of their relationship, but I imagine its a fun exploratory period for the three of them for a brief handful of times.  

I see Robin/Raven specifically not so much as a sibling dynamic as an adopted-guardian and their troubled-ward dynamic; essentially: they’re doing their best to cope with their semi-awkward positionings. -Robin is both her team-leader AND mind-linked ‘sounding board’. Raven meanwhile, is always the ‘tragic little girl’ that Robin feels he has to 'Save’.

She uses him as her gage for human/Earthly morality, and he knows it, and they both know that it puts a lot of pressure on him; so he usually ends up attempting to give her he thinks she wants. -Which is difficult, since Raven usually doesn’t know what she’s looking for, and doesn’t often inform him of any results or formed opinions that occur afterwards.

She shares a similar relationship with Starfire; being the stand-in for a true connection with Blackfire that Star could never have but always desired.

Raven/Robin would never work out because they’re too similar and would feed into each other’s negative habits too much; never sleeping, diving too much into work, ect. Theyre good work partners, not good dating partners.

Raven/Starfire is cute, but Starfire is IN LOVE with Robin. Starfire/Robin is one of the few m/w canon ships I actually enjoy. I’m not breaking them up, even in headcanon. So it’s threesies or nothing, lol.  

-Jinx: 

Okay, so; remember when I said Beast couldn’t handle Raven? 

well, what about a girl who HAS MAGIC and KNOWS WHAT ITS LIKE FOR THAT MAGIC TO BE INHERENTLY VOLATILE. Jinx walks down the street, six people are getting struck by lightning, tripping, or having their parking meters expire, and other such ‘bad lucks’; she knows what having an unsightly power is like. She’s fought with Raven before, and *beaten* her in battle before. She knows what Raven is routinely capable of. she went to SCHOOL for STUDYING HEROS and how to defeat them. She grew up in more of a real-world setting?? Like;; Jinx might be the ONLY QUALIFIED person to help Raven with her situation? Ex: “Hey, maybe you ever think instead of demons… its also PTSD? Let me google some shit and ill hook you up with something for that” 

and she’s a TOP STUDENT. she LEADS A TEAM. She’s smart, resourceful,, she’s capable of taking things seriously and having fun without being scared off by raven’s power or cynical moodswings. I feel that Jinx would be one of the few capable of tempering Raven’s behaviors constructively. -The girl’s dealt with the Hive all her life. she’d be able to withstand Raven’s bluffs and threat displays, no sweat while also remaining unadmonishingly instructive.   

And Raven meanwhile, can show Jinx that having dangerous powers doesn’t make villainy her only option WITHOUT sacrificing the capabilities having those powers or past experiences bring (*cough unlike how kid flash dismisses them cough cough*) (I HATE Jinx/Kid Flash but i’ll save that rant for now)

They could help each other out with their traumas, theyre more likely to have common interests,,, (types of books and music preferences, spellwork, ect) 

There’s just a lot more potential for exploring their personalities and moralities together. ^^

The “enemies to friends to lovers” trope is especially gay, which I, a homosexual, vastly approve of;;  

-I ship Raven with a lot of “darker” themed girls. Jinx. Ace. Ravager, Blackfire would be fun; Cassandra Cain maybe. Lady Death. Rogue.

Still not quite sure if this is really “worth” a full headcanon-post, but bringing this one over too.

Kissing for Tamaraneans usually means simply ‘holding the lips together’. There’s no movement to it from their side, it’s literally just the lips staying in contact. It is the only way they learned, so unless they

a) learn of someone how it’s (human-ly) to be done (either by being taught it or by trying it out and learning during the action - the latter would probably require ‘breaks’ during the kiss though to actually explain and talk about it) or b) are like Blackfire and enjoy trying out things, have probably seen someone else do it, and/or go with what the other does without worry or hesitation

they will not immediately reciprocate the kiss in the same way that your muse might do it.

college verse character study 03 ( headcanon dump ) .

APPEARANCE :

androgynous for the most part - more ‘ feminine ’ facial features that they either accentuate or conceal with makeup depending on their mood, as well as a more ‘ feminine ’ ( popping ) booty, legs, and gait; on the other hand, their upper body is more ‘ masculine ’, especially their arms

as stated in my general college verse post, vy is very into fashion and their taste falls on a spectrum ranging from gothic lolita to tiktok eboy and everything in between. because of this, it’s unlikely that you’d be able to recognize them on campus unless you’re already used to seeing them.

vy is extremely confident in their gender identity and has no qualms about looking more “masculine” some days or looking more “feminine” other days, since those labels are arbitrary to them, anyway.

they also don’t care about being misgendered by strangers, but they get visibly upset whenever they’re misgendered or questioned by friends or, at the very least, people who make frequent appearances in their life.

CATFISH LIFE :

vy refers to the people they successfully catfish as ‘ worms ’, partly because they think it’s funny but also because it alludes to canon...if y’all know what i mean. ;)

target ‘ worms ’ are typically rich fraternity boys or anyone with any semblance of financial privilege.

vy’s seven personas have been on 67 dates ( excluding multiple dates with the same ' worm ’ ) since the start of freshman year until the end of fall semester sophomore year.

they have seven different burner phones ( iphone 7′s ) that are designated to each persona. each burner phone has the same apps installed: tinder, bumble, snapchat, venmo, paypal, and cashapp.

their monthly earnings from catfishing range anywhere from $1.5k - $3k. this includes restaurant / other misc. outings their ‘ worms ’ pay for.

most ‘ worms ’ don’t realize they’re being catfished because vy is usually in and out of their lives like they’re revolving doors. they’ve been found out by a few people, though - usually the ones they end up seeing multiple times - including their own roommate.

REAL DATING / SOCIAL LIFE :

vy’s true self is pretty infamous, and despite their social media fame / catfish appeal, they struggle to make friends. no, they will rarely ever admit to this, let alone to the fact that they’re bothered by it.

primary friend group consists of: @autometallum​‘s mar pietenise, @foliateface​‘s edward elric ( roommate ) & alphonse elric, and @mechjunkie​‘s winry rockbell. @xingeseheir​‘s ling yao is also noted to be an honorary member of their group.

drinks and smokes very often ( too often ) recreationally, socially, and as a coping mechanism!! has a low alcohol tolerance due to being thin for their height, but has an impeccable tolerance for drugs

will crash fraternity parties and other large-scale events with their roommate and, in a separate verse, @ichoreyed​‘s edward elric...yes, they end up stealing copious amounts of booze and food, what about it..?

when exceptionally drunk, will text @ichoreyed​‘s edward elric incoherent drivel, usually in the form of haikus or free verse poetry...thinks they’re smart and profound, but they’re actually stupid as hell

has hooked up with only 4 people since their freshman year, mostly due to their own pickiness / inability to maintain a connection with a majority of people. included in this is @hateflare​‘s komal acharya ( blackfire ;) ), which ended up ruining their chances of dating a cute goth girl in her tentative friend group

hasn’t been in a committed relationship as their true self, or at least not a conventional one. vy’s relationship with their roommate is very questionable and turbulent...still fun and unique but confusing. sure, vy will go ahead and assume they’re dating!!

| BIOGRAPHY

princess koriand’r was born and raised in tamaran , her home planet . she shared the title of princess with her sister , blackfire .

unfortunately , koriand’r was much favored by their parents , and this sparked a rivalry between the two princesses . the favoritism followed her even after a species who called themselves trigon’s army attacked and seized their planet , bringing tamaran and all its people into submission . it was only a matter of time before their culture and their tamaranean ways would cease to exist .

her parents had sent her away in secret as a last resort to keep the tamaranean blood alive before they were captured by the enemy , and koriand’r was left banging on the window of the pod as she watched her own parents taken away from her , the last thing she saw before pain erupted from the back of her head , vision dark .

the pod landed on earth , koriand’r - who now was experiencing a case of amnesia - both confused and intrigued . mostly intrigued .

she was mostly introduced to the people with superpowers radar while wandering around the streets of gotham , when a group of men attempted to mug and possibly assault her in an alleyway . abnormal solar energy in the middle of the night , you would say .

as she rediscovered her powers , her memories came flooding back into her mind . this was also when she had visions of her parents back in her home planet executed , further telling her that she had nothing to come back to . earth is her home now .

koriand’r met the teen titans when she accidentally interrupted one of their missions , ending in her fighting with them and upon victory , granting her a position in the team . they chose to use starfire , as koriand’r was a bit of a mouthful .

as she grew older , the teen in the teen titans became loose , and almost everyone went their separate ways . during this time , kory devoted every day and night to helping people whether that be by fighting crime or volunteering wherever she can .

when she found that the titans were to be reformed , she was ecstatic , despite the circumstances . but that didn’t stop the tamaran from jumping up immediately to assist with whatever she can .

kory is affiliated with both the justice league and titans , however , more with the titans as she considers them her family on earth .

even with her angsty background , kory is still as bright as sunshine , is this a side effect from her solar energy absorption ? maybe , maybe not . no one knows . maybe it’s just her personality in general . maybe it’s maybelline

finds earth culture, customs and technology extremely fascinating . she’s still a bit naive when it comes to earth things after all .

as sweet as she may be , kory also tends to be very ruthless toward people who she knows have hurt people whether they be her friends or civilians in the city , but she never lets her temper get the best of her .

can fly with the help of the solar energy in her body , as long as she focuses it onto the soles of her feet and her palms for balance .

an idiot’s guide to the wayne family.

now complete with new diagrams! i wish i wash kidding, ive really made a diagram to help illustrate this.

some points to make quickly -

• this is not complete. there were probably more siblings and wives and children, but i just focused on the main lineage i could piece together from DC knowledge

• apologies for the lack of knowledge on the women in the family past the last century. this is unfortunately common in real life too, as women were not landowners etc, and without a marriage certificate they basically don’t show up on records. dc happily talk about the male line but not about the wives and daughters so :/

• the dates are fairly made up, and especially at the bottom are just me twisting things to fit my own personal canon

• and finally, i just wanted to say that while this is pieced together from what DC have told us, there are a lot of holes that i have filled with headcanons. not all of this is canon. sometimes i just want to give a person a cool life that dc are too cowardly to do.

so, although this varies by “earth”, i have tried to combine the various histories given for pre- and post-52 waynes into a full comprehensible timeline. i’ve probably failed, but this is what i’m sticking with.   

to start with we’re supposed to believe that there was a norse guy calling himself the Bat-Man, running around in the 10th century killing frost giants. is it plausible? yes. is it exaggerated? most definitely. am i wiping it from existence because it was one issue in a faintly terrible run that has technically been retconned anyway? absolutely. ignoring that makes the earliest recorded ancestor of the wayne family a man called gawayne de weyne, a french crusader in the 14th century. on some earths he’s called lancelot wayne (too on the nose) or harold wayne (thanks i hate it), so im personally going to retcon that and just say gawayne is it. also because i love the etymological aspect of the name beginning as de weyne in old high french and it slowly changing through out the centuries. gawayne, also sometimes written as gevain, was one of the knights sent to retrieve the holy grail, but, as knights tended to do, he died. sorry gawayne. the weirdest part about all of this is that he asked for his heart to be embalmed, and there’s a plot line revolving around this (batman: scottish connection). now i’m not saying that madness runs in the family, but the waynes absolutely do not get a good head start in history. 

gawayne must have had at least one surviving heir who goes on to have babies etc etc, and eventually we get to the 16th century, and the next instance of the waynes. specifically, contarf wayne. which, i have to say, super dumb name. if i ever have a kid, im calling it contarf. so it’s now the 1500s and the waynes have somehow become scottish, probably from getting given land after crusading and that. apparently gawayne was aknight of the scottish court, despite being french, which actually happened a lot back then. literally the only notable thing contarf does with his life is build castle wayne, and i swear these people are all born with both madness and a flair for the dramatic. yes at some point bruce does go to this gloomy scottish castle where it’s always rainy and stormy and fits right on in, so that’s terrifying.

around a hundred years later nathaniel wayne tries to emigrate across to the “new world”. nathaniel likes witchhunting, and has come over to what will one day be the US following a witch fleeing from england - annie. annie who he may have dated. annie who may be pregnant with his child. good on you nathaniel, that’s a healthy relationship you’ve got right there. after the baby is delivered, he finds her and. you know, people were not kind of witches back then, so she dies. and with her dying breath, curses nathaniel and all his descendants. which includes her OWN BABY (super punk move), and one day bruce wayne. this curse manifests in very few of the extant waynes surviving beyond 40, often going mad, and absolutely tuning on each other. nathaniel’s particular grisly end comes when his is the fateful colony that ends up in what-will-one-day-be-gotham (see my idiots guide to gotham for more juicy details), releasing the deacon blackfire from his little cave and ending up missing, presumed dead. (definitely dead). this is the start of the “waynes probably should avoid gotham” saga. spoiler alert - they don’t. 

somewhere in the interluding 100 years, a branch of the waynes do actually successfully make it over into the americas. 2 brothers, caleb and thomas simon wayne, reach the east coast from britain, and go their separate ways. caleb joins a convoy heading out west, leading a wagon train, and, as so many pioneers do, he also dies, while trying to make this trip. but caleb really isnt the interesting brother here (sorry man), because what thomas gets up to is far more exciting. he settles in, lo and behold, the newly formed town of gotham, and for some strange reason (probably because all the waynes are fairly nuts, as we’ve established at this point) decides to give devil-worshipping a go. maybe its fucking curse. maybe its something in the water. maybe its maybelline. but whatever it is, thomas wayne tries to summon and ensnare the demon barbatos by killing some innocents, in a wild, but understandable, attempt to gain immortality. he doesn’t succeed. or does he. it half works - instead of summoning the bat-demon (yes the same bat-demon that the founding fathers later summon and also trap beneath gotham) he gets one of darkseid’s hyper-dimensional bounty hunters, and some how, through some space age magic, the energy of this event corrupts him into agelessness/slowed ageing, we’re not totally sure. later dear old tom pops back up as the villainous dr simon hurt, and literally fights his own descendant. DC give no fucks. 

after the whole corrupting not-magic thing, but before he disappears, thomas/simon impregnates one of his cult’s disciples. a lot. (is this why the waynes can look 30 at 50? more on this at 10) and between 1747 and 1771 (because immortal people also have immortal sperm apparently), she bears him 3 sons. probably some daughters too but again, who cares about that. not DC, that’s for damn sure. these sons are all absolutely fucking insane, just like daddy dearest. the eldest, who is LITERALLY known as “mad” anthony wayne, is said to be the spitting image of bruce, which is confirmed through some time travelling bs that we’re not going to think about. anthony and horatio wayne, the middle brother, both sign up to fight in the revolutionary war. unfortunately THE CURSE STRIKES AGAIN and horatio perishes while burning british ships. anthony goes on to becomes a brigadier general, serving directly under george washington and pulls some crazy good strategies that help to kick the british out of new jersey, earning his nickname of “mad” anthony, because only someone fucking nuts could come up with these plans, and pull them off. the youngest brother darius wayne is only 4 when the war breaks out, and is therefore too Babey to fight, but does later become notable for being the man to start construction on wayne manor. in 1795, using the money inherited from his brother horatio on his death, he hires an architect nathan van derm, to begin planning and building. sadly darius will never see it completed, with funds dwindling and his older brother’s death, eventually darius takes his own life. 

not to worry, he leaves behind 2 sons - herkimer and charles wayne. literally herkimer’s only notable feature is that he fights in the war of 1812. sorry my guy, DC hate you. charles, on the other hand, is a businessman, who manages the failing company his father had left behind and starts to grow the wayne fortune. charles buys more land surrounding the manor, as well as a lot of general gotham real estate, and is the man accrediting for starting wayne enterprises as a series of several small business, ranging from merchant trading to land ownership to mining, in 1845. however charlie contracts tuberculosis at the ripe old age of 62 and shuffles off the mortal coil. 

the oldest of his sons, charles lincoln wayne, also known as charles junior, does 2 things - begins construction on the wayne manor again in 1855 after purchasing it back from jerome k. van derm, the destitute son of the original architect, who had been living in the bones of the construcion, and uses a considerable portion of his inheritance to build the gotham botanical gardens in 1870. the next son, winslow wayne, is another enigma - the only thing mentioned about him in the comics is that he fought alongside teddy roosevelt, which i’m guessing is in the spanish-american war. but the youngest two brothers, joshua thomas and solomon zebadiah wayne are the real spicy pair. not only do they tackle the bat infestation on the manor grounds, but the pair work to change the federal system of america - joshua, when he’s not managing the wayne companies, is an abolitionist who engages in secret missions to free slaves by getting them across the border into canada, and solomon, the vaguely more sensible of the two, becomes a judge, attempting to be as fair and incorruptible as possible. sadly joshua is killed due to his slave smuggling antics (THE CURRSSEE), and this sends solomon slightly nuts, and causes him to contract the architect cyrus pinkney, who is even more nuts, to basically. build gotham. these two men are the reason 97% of buildings have gargoyles on them. 

solomon has only 1 child before he dies, who fortunately, grows up to be a very shrewd businessman capable of growing wayne ent even through with the advent of shipping and rail sectors. this man, alan wayne, constructs the original wayne tower in 1888, and it completely swamps the gotham skyline. he also marries catherine van derm, the great granddaughter of the original architect of wayne manor, and finally manage to complete and move in to the building in 1895, exactly 100 years after the project was started. for a while they are very happy, and catherine falls pregnant. but this darn curse just won’t leave these wayne boys alone, and in 1897, catherine dies giving birth to their son, kenneth wayne. a year later, lost and traumatised and going insane thinking about his wife’s death alan wayne mysteriously disappears (read as: fell down a well and was maybe or maybe not tortured and killed by the court of owls). 

kenneth wayne, raised as virtually an orphan, turns out to have his papa’s business management skills, and, foreseeing america's impending industrialisation in the 20s and 30s, makes some risky moves that pay off, including the advent of wayne chemicals, and wayne ent expands yet again. kenneth, like the recurring pattern that you can see here, dies fairly early due to WW2 however, leaving his wife laura to care for their 4 sons AND the company, which she does like a boss ass bitch. seriously, women barely had the vote and she was already a titan of industry and raising 4 teenage boys like. massive props to you babe. these boys are

ishmael wayne, a whaler who is an incredible parody of captain ahab and also dies trying to catch a white whale, elwood wayne, who goes and reclaims what is now called waynemoor castle in scotland, living there until his death, silas wayne, who may or may not be a thief posing as a wayne because the real silas died, AND at long last, patrick wayne - bruce’s granpappy, who founded the wayne tech arm of the company at 20 years old, aiding the war effort, and where this stupidly long post ends, because there is 0 point in me recounting the lives of thomas, bruce, or any of his children. everyone knows them. could i write more about thomas’ siblings and the kanes and how they tie in? yes. but this post is like 2100 words long and i want to sleep at some point today so this will have to do askjdbjsdhgf

Robstarweek Day 3: These Winding Halls (Prompt: Lost)

Today’s story is a bit unusual. It takes place in… not exactly an AU, because it still technically fits with show canon, but what I guess you could call an “alternate future” or an AU to my normal set of headcanons. I call it the “Royal Family Verse” for reasons that will be made clear in the story, and I’m planning to set one Robstar Week entry for each year in this same ‘verse. It’s a bit of a self-indulgent concept, but one I really enjoy playing around in from time to time, so I hope you enjoy it as well!

These Winding Halls

There was no way around it: Emperor Mar’ikesh was well and truly lost.

Again.

Nightwing, as the new name translated, groaned inwardly, though he put on an air of perfect calm and complete awareness of where he was going. This was what he got for insisting the guards leave him to wander the palace in peace. It was also what he got for moving to a planet whose architecture took advantage of its inhabitants’ ability to fly, but he was trying to stave off those thoughts.

It had been about two months now (Earth months; he was still working on Tamaranean time scales) since Starfire had received the news that Galfore could no longer safely hold his position as Grand Ruler, and that she was his best option of successor if the planet was to avoid political strife. After many discussions and plans and preparations, she had been coronated a month later, by necessity moving back to her home planet in the process.

And Robin – Dick, Nightwing, Mar’ikesh, whatever he was supposed to call himself now – had moved with her.

He somehow found himself on one of the many high balconies ringing the palace. After checking to see that he was truly alone, he leaned his arms on the railing and allowed himself a low sigh.

Normally he would have Starfire with him, showing him how to navigate the alien (to him at least; here he was the alien) architecture and pointing out places that she remembered from her childhood. But she was in a meeting with some dignitaries from halfway across the planet, and he did not yet have the political understanding to join her. So instead, he had gone and gotten himself lost.

They were lucky, he supposed, that Tamaraneans were so readily built for space travel. It meant that interplanetary relationships were far from a new concept to them – and indeed, royalty taking outworlder spouses could be spun as a way to strengthen alliances with other planets. That certainly explained Blackfire’s scheme during her brief tenure as Grand Ruler. He was just happy that Starfire – and he, for that matter – had been able to make a proper choice this time.

But that wasn’t going to do them any good if he couldn’t even find his way around a stupid BUILDING!

Heavy footfalls approached, and Nightwing stood up straight and schooled his face into a neutral expression. He mentally checked on the translator in his ear – he was still learning the Tamaranean language, and he was not about to stumble through a half-coherent explanation of what he was doing here to one of the guards – and turned.

It was Galfore, alone for once and leaning on a cane as thick as a man’s neck. He’d suffered a debilitating injury fighting off a would-be assassin, and a Grand Ruler who couldn’t defend Tamaran at full strength was liable to attract challengers.

“Masking your emotions does not become a Tamaranean, by marriage or otherwise,” the old ruler said. “We are an open and passionate people.”

That comment stung far more than it was meant to, but at the same time, Nightwing noticed that Galfore was speaking English for him. He relaxed a little.

“Something tells me it wouldn’t end well if the people knew what I’m feeling right now,” he said, leaning back on the balcony railing and allowing himself a small frown.

Galfore joined him on the balcony. “Oh? And what is that, Your Majesty?”

Nightwing fought back a grimace, though whether it was at his own thoughts or hearing that title even he couldn’t quite say. He shifted his gaze and looked out, along the walls of the palace and off to the vast Gikha Desert surrounding it.

“…Fear, mostly,” he said at length, his voice soft. “Uncertainty. I don’t know if I can do this.”

Galfore chuckled, a low rumble that came from deep within his chest. “Starfire is the Grand Ruler, not you,” he replied, “and she is well able to handle the responsibility. All you must do is support her and be prepared to protect yourself and your family if it becomes necessary. Two tasks which you excel at, I must note.”

Nightwing scowled. “I don’t think I’m so good at the supporting part. She needs someone she can bounce ideas off of, and vent to when things get difficult, and ask for a second opinion on hard decisions. But I don’t know anything about running a country, let alone one that covers an entire planet! And I’m starting to think I never will.”

He ground the heel of his hand into his forehead, the words just pouring out now. “And don’t try and tell me that a lot of this isn’t about how people see you. They need to know that Starf– that Koriand’r is a strong and wise and effective ruler, and stupid as it is, part of how they see her is going to be reflected from how they see her family. Which at the moment technically consists entirely of me. How am I supposed to present myself when I barely have any idea what’s going on half the time?!”

Galfore said nothing, just waited patiently as his young liege laid out his worries. Nightwing drew in a shaky breath. When he continued, his voice was soft again and a little hollow.

“I… When I first decided to do this, I told myself that it was so Starfire wouldn’t have to leave everything from her old life behind again. That if we got married, we’d be there to support each other always, and wouldn’t that be good for Tamaran anyway? To have a Grand Ruler who didn’t have to go in alone, and a royal family whose members were there for one another?” He let his gaze drop and swallowed.

“But now, I’m starting to think that maybe I was just being selfish. That I just didn’t want to lose her. I don’t…”

There was a heavy shifting as Galfore settled against the wall beside him. After a short pause, he asked, “Is it selfish to want to be with the one you love, and who loves you in turn?”

Nightwing looked up at him. “I…”

Galfore smiled. “It is as I said before: we are a passionate people. For many of us, you simply being here is enough.” He studied Nightwing for a moment.

“And you are passionate as well, Mar’ikesh. You are a fine Tamaranean, even if you sometimes mask your emotions.” He chuckled. “Do you know, I realized you and Koriand’r were meant to be together after your first visit here. Had she not told me she intended to arrange her own marriage, I may well have betrothed the two of you myself!”

Nightwing started at that and stared up at him, eyes wide. “You wanted to what?!”

If Galfore noticed the outburst, he made no acknowledgement of it. “And as for everything else: give it time,” he went on. “You have only been here a short while yet, and you will learn. I suspect you have already learned more than you realize.”

Nightwing said nothing at first. He just stared at the old ruler for a long moment, searching his face for any signs of insincerity or false reassurance. He found none, but as his racing thoughts began to slow, he recognized a sort of distant familiarity to his situation.

He realized all at once that Starfire must have felt something like this once: alone, unfitting, lost. No – she most certainly had felt it before, had told him as much. And he had always encouraged her, always let her know she had a place on Earth.

Maybe it was time for him to take his own advice.

At length, he let out a low sigh and said, “You’re right. I guess it’s just... hard sometimes.”

Galfore shook his head. “If this life were easy, I would not have needed Koriand’r as my successor.” With that, he stood up and started to make his way back into the palace. After a few moments, though, he stopped and looked back.

“By the way, I came out here to let you know that the Empress is nearly finished with her meeting; by now it may already be over.” He smiled. “Take a left when you go inside; you will find her down the second hall to your right.”

Nightwing perked up at that, and as Galfore left he started heading that way.

Sure enough, he found her as soon as he turned into the hall. Starfire was talking with one of the visiting dignitaries, but her expression brightened when she spotted him.

“Mar’ikesh!” she called out. “I did not expect to see you so soon.”

Nightwing laughed a little as he approached her, giving her a quick kiss by way of greeting (there were some Earth customs that neither of them were about to give up). “Honestly? Neither did I.”

The nobleman decided to take his leave then, bowing his head respectfully to each of the royal couple as he said his goodbyes. Starfire saw him off before turning back to her husband with a furrow of concern on her brow.

“You did not get lost again, did you?”

Nightwing blushed and reached up to rub the back of his neck. “…You could say that, yes,” he admitted. “But I did somehow end up pretty close to your meeting room, so I think my subconscious might be getting the hang of this place.”

The worry in Starfire’s face melted, giving way to a warm smile. “Then we will just have to explore more together,” she said, extending her hands toward him. “Come with me?”

Nightwing returned the smile and placed his hands in hers without hesitation. “Always.”
