OOC | Pinned Intro Post
Pinned Intro Post ☂️ Boundaries & Canonized Background & Character Information!
Tumblr media
Current Quest: [REDACTED] (0/10) | [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
Signs off as Your friend, Ronald S. or -☂️
☂️ Dad Facts
This is a dndads (Dungeons & Daddies) ask/rp blog for an AU version of Ron Stampler! I refer to him as DadSwap!Ron officially, and refer to the AU as Dad Swap. Generally, I refer to him as Ronald instead of Ron. This blog is ran by Mod Rome, who uses any pronouns! :)
☂️ BOUNDARIES: In-Character DMs: Ok! (And encouraged!) Out-of-Character DMs: Ok! But I’d prefer it if you used my discord (if you have it) or my main ( @writtenanddirectedbyrome) Anon Asks: Ok! Feel free to bully/harass him too! Negative and positive asks appreciated. Shipping: Ok! I can’t say it’ll be good to date him, though... :) Tagging: I tag for serious themes of suicide, assault, etc. but do not tag for spoilers because this is an AU. Daily facts are tagged as #dad fact. Reblogging: This account reblogs books and other nerd stuff. Other: NO EXPLICIT NSFW.
☂️  Ronald is a [REDACTED] [REDACTED] NORMAL MAGICAL HUMAN. I DO NOT roll for stats, but will mention if he succeeds on a roll.
☂️ In this AU, everything is pretty much moved up one generation! Ronald, as a young boy, carpooled with his father, Willy (@emotionally-detached-warlock) his friends Glenn, Henry, and Darryl, and their fathers Bill, Barry, and Frank. (They’re all alive and well here! I mean, they have their problems, like Barry having his own deal going back to the place he escaped so long ago...but still!) On the way to their soccer tournament, the kids are kidnapped by their grandparents. (Bill & Barry’s fathers don’t have names, but Ron’s granddad is named Carl!)
Everything goes the same, except it follows the dads (Willy, Bill, Barry, and Frank)’s journey to save their lost sons in the forgotten realm! Their arcs follow similarly to their sons; for example, Willy’s arc is the same as Canon!Ron’s and Barry’s is the same as Canon!Henry’s.
Ronald’s arc is similar to TJ’s because he ended up in Castle Ravenloft, but he is rescued last. When the dads reach the finale of their journey, Ronald ends up killing Carl and gaining a large amount of magic. He uses this magic to aid the fathers in the final fight, and becomes Willy’s warlock.
Currently, he is a perfectly normal guy! He works in the San Dimas Library as a children’s librarian to gain [REDACTED] magic from his relationship to the community. :)

Daily Dose of Dramione fanfiction 89:
The Rights and Wrongs Series by Lovesbitca8 (Rated MA)
The Right Thing To Do Hermione felt the pounding in her ears again. She would see him for the first time since the Great Hall, gaunt and stricken at the Slytherin table with his mother clutching his arm. She hadn't meant to look for him. Not in the corridors, not beneath the white sheets of the fallen, not on the way to the Chamber of Secrets with Ron, but she was a stupid girl.
All The Wrong Things Sequel to "The Right Thing to Do" - Draco's POV. Part 2 of the "Rights and Wrongs" series.
The Auction In the wake of the Dark Lord’s triumph over Harry Potter, the defeated must learn their new place. Hermione Granger, former Golden Girl, has been captured and reduced to human chattel. Sold to the highest bidder as the top prize at an auction of Order members and sympathizers, she is thrust into the rabid, waiting hands of the Death Eaters. But despite the horrors of Voldemort’s new world, help—and hope—seem to arise from the most unlikely of places.
PART 3 of the RIGHTS AND WRONGS series.
COMPLETE: Yes TYPE: Multi-Chapter CATEGORY: Post-Hogwarts, EWE
MY OPINION: I honestly didn't enjoy these fics as much as I expected I would. SPOILERS Once I found out they liked each other back in school I was struggling to finish it because to me it made everything so OOC. I forced myself to get through the first two fics so that I could enjoy the Auction properly...but then the Auction felt like a giant cock block. It just wasn't dark or triggering enough for me unfortunately (especially after reading Manacled and expecting that level of dark and non con etc). I think I just wanted MORE. With that being said I really liked the writing style and the quality of it and how in depth the fic was and all of the ideas behind it.
I loved listening to it on Spotify with ETL Echo once again.
Rating: 2.5/5

I have really enjoyed reading your answers to the rare pair tag game. I have added a lot of the fics that you recommended on your latest answer to my 'Marked for Later' list on a03 to enjoy over the weekend. I was wondering your honest thoughts are on the following ships: Tom/Ron, James/Snape, Tom/Hermione, Molly/Bellatrix, James/Regulus and Snape/Lily and Dudley/Draco. I apologise for the number of ships and I am really curious on your opinions.
thank you so much for the ask, @sarafina-sincerity - and for continuing my recent tradition of offering opinions nobody else wanted to hear on an increasingly unhinged list of pairings.
[i know you sent a message apologising for sending some ships which were asked before, but i love to chatter, so i'm going in to answer the original...]
tom riddle | voldemort/ron weasley
obviously this is the crack pairing when it comes to voldemort + a member of the trio - while tomarrymort and tomione/volmione stories number into the thousands on ao3, voln/ton/rom/ronmort/whatever we're calling it has a grand total of... ten tagged works.
i think this is a tremendous shame, but not - it's important to say - because i agree with the tedious fanon idea, particularly prevalent in ships which feature hermione with anyone else, that ron would make a good death eater [as you will see below, i think that honour belongs firmly to hermione herself...] - even in a voldemort wins au, ron isn't going over to the dark side. it sounds too much like hard work.
instead, i'm into this pairing because ron is... kind of mother. he likes to look after people and he channels his negative emotions into doing this [he wouldn't have left the tent if harry and hermione had learned how to shoplift properly and he could be settled in front of a nice pot, i'll die on that hill]. just imagine little captive ron - maybe the snatchers recognised him, maybe voldemort's won and everyone else is dead - bustling around his gilded prison in malfoy manor making the dark lord a cup of tea when he turns up to psychologically torture him. voldemort would - as i am - be intrigued.
and if, in fact, you'd like to see almost exactly this situation play out, you will definitely enjoy wind tunnels by @mrmxlemons. ron isn't having a good time, but his cooking is.
james potter/severus snape
i've not read much snames, so this is mostly just based on general vibes: i think it's fine but not fantastic.
as i've said in literally everything i've ever posted about sirius black/severus snape, snack is a great pairing because they're narrative mirrors, something which creates so much drama that it makes me scream.
severus and james don't have this - if anything, they're narrative opposites. james is adored by his parents, he's rich, he gets the girl, his best friend is in love with him and not the other way round, he's the ringleader of his gang rather than a follower, his whole family have been gryffindors, and so on and so forth. obviously opposites attract, but you haven't got the immediate potential for connection that you have between severus and characters such as sirius, lily, and - let's all be real - voldemort.
i'm not really going to get into the bullying debate here, but it seems to me that severus would regard james - had he lived - in a similar way to how he regards the adult lupin; that is, that he would completely disassociate from any situation in which he's present, rather than love getting in his face as he does with sirius. i don't love snupin for this reason [i'll read it, of course, but it always feels extremely ooc to me] - the fissure caused by their conflicting personalities simply runs too deep, and my suspicion is that snames is the same.
hermione granger/tom riddle | voldemort
so, this is the one where I think I'm likely to deviate most significantly from the opinions of my dash...
i think it's entirely plausible, but only from hermione's side.
the argument i've seen most against tomione/volmione is that hermione's moral code would never permit her to accept anything less than a voldemort who was transformed into a man she would want - which means the whole murder thing needs to get thrown in the bin.
i... disagree. the canonical hermione is someone who is very morally inflexible in relation to how she expects others to behave, but incredibly morally flexible - and often quite immoral - in pursuit of things she herself wants or thinks she wants. she is also the cruelest and most ruthless member of the trio. she thinks herself rational and would - therefore - be the easiest for anyone cleverer than rita skeeter to manipulate. she is very lonely, and would, in a situation in which she was captured, be the member of the trio most swayed by basic demonstrations of kindness [lord voldemort only needs to endure a brief conversation about hogwarts: a history and hint that harry and ron aren't coming to look for her and he's golden]. she always thinks she's right - if she's convinced just by harry and ron not telling her otherwise that her knitted hats are freeing house elves in their droves, i am certain she could be convinced that she won concessions for muggleborns under voldemort's regime through her own skill and not because he wanted to grant them anyway. and so on.
whether the relationship is something she has to do or wants to do, i think she'd be able to justify it to herself as a necessary evil which doesn't actually go against her standards for herself. that she would never think this for harry and ron if they shacked up with the dark lord is part of the fun...
from voldemort's perspective, while he definitely has a weakness for dark curly hair [bellamort nation, rise up], i cannot see him going for it as anything other than a tool of psychological warfare [whereas i think you can write e.g. tomarry based very much in mutual attraction]. intellectually, while hermione is very clever, she doesn't have the interest in experimentation which voldemort has [this is why snapemort and riddledore both always slap - they have the same views on magic], she's extremely condescending, which is his thing, she obviously grew up incredibly rich, and her dour, whiggish empiricism doesn't align very well with his late-antique-emperor's view of the world.
she doesn't give a shit about dead rabbits though. maybe they could bond over that.
bellatrix lestrange/molly weasley
yeah why not. they canonically went to hogwarts at the same time and bellatrix is definitely giving off jilted ex vibes in that final duel.
would molly put up with bella's nonsense? absolutely not. bellatrix would have exactly the same reaction as fleur to the burrow - nothing to do except cooking and chickens - and the ensuing argument would burn the place to the ground far more interestingly than that dogshit scene in the half-blood prince film.
regulus black/james potter
i don't know her, sorry.
lily evans/severus snape
as i said here, i'm into it in a post-james world where lily is trying to rebuild her life by connecting with her past.
so let's take it from a different angle: do i think it could work in the pre-james era?
absolutely not. i think these two need something as seismic as catastrophic loss to force them to actually engage with each other as they are, rather than as the versions they've constructed in their heads. at school, where they're both just dancing round each other, never seeing eye-to-eye on anything, they're never going to be able to get to that place.
i also think james needs to be out of the picture - she's clearly into him long before the mudblood incident, and that knowledge would only ever make severus astonishingly unpleasant to have as a boyfriend. rip king, but you were lost in service of shipping.
dudley dursley/draco malfoy
yeah it's hot. boxer!dudley is enormous and ripped, what's not to love. draco deserves a huge boy who also hates harry.
plus imagine narcissa vs petunia on the topic of their darling boys. or lucius vs vernon when the former pulls up to privet drive in a flying rolls royce. i would be seated.

Be aware of the sads
---
It's in the middle of the night and Cale just got done with paperwork. The kids are asleep on his bed, their soft breathing being the only sound in the room besides his shuffling
He's just walking through a hallway, not really paying attention to his surroundings. He can't focus, everything feels.. muddy in a way. He isn't really processing anything, just going wherever his feet are taking him.
Oh, he's in the gardens.
The moonlight looks soft and makes the white flowers shine brighter. He sits on a bench near the red roses.
Is it odd? Nothing terrible has happened, yet he feels so.. empty.
He stares.
He waits.
What is he waiting for? He doesn't know.
He doesn't know a lot of things. He doesn't know why they stayed. Why so many people look up to him. Why they think he's such a great person. Why his Hyungs had to die, he was supposed to die instead, isn't that what the GoD said? Would it have been better?
He can't find himself to regret the fact that he's here now.
'Ah, this is why Im trash'
He's selfish.
Very selfish.
Lost in his mind and records, he fails to notice the hot and wet tears that are falling down his face.
He cries.
When those cries turn to sobs, no one is there to comfort him.
And when morning comes and he's found on that bench, with dried tear tracks visible on his flushed cheeks, all Choi han and Ron can do is carry him back to bed and tuck him in. Concern visible in their eyes and when Eruhaben bumps into them and looks at Cale's face, they say nothing.
'Why is it that you must bare everything on your own? Don't you know that you can lean on us? Lean on me? You've done so much for us. Why not let me do this one small thing and offer you a shoulder to cry on.'
---
I saw a comment on a different post about angst writers never making Cale cry and decided to finish this in honor of that comment
Honestly, if anyone's up for it, write something in (whatever character you want)'s pov where they find Cale in the gardens like this fic (or I'll do it later, idk-)
Is this ooc? Probably :^

Hello everyone !! My name is AD, 19 and my pronouns are she/her!! I am a multi muse, filipino roleplayer/writer!!
I am quite new to the rp community in tumblr so please understand that I'm inexperienced. This blog is mostly to find more reigen rp partners who can giggle and ramble with me about Ron Weasley!
Currently, i am into Harry Potter!! I’d like to preface and say I do NOT support anything JK Rowling has said (as I am bi myself) and any transphobic statements she’s made is something I will never agree with.
My current hyperfixation character as of the moment is actually Ron Weasley! He’s my favorite character by far and I can go on and on about rambling towards him :3 though he doesn’t have to be my main actually! Im looking for any Ron role players :D as long as I get to write ships or just in general, sweet stories about him.
I have a few set of rules i would also like to make as a seperate post but as of right now, i will be writing them here so please take the time to read them in case you ever want to write or just simply chat with me about anything!!
* Main muses are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Theodore Nott and Draco Malfoy! I can also do the Weasley family and can even do Ron as well if preferred!
* usually write on discord and prefer to have a server for all the rps. I draw, write and speed out ideas a LOT btw so please be warned. I'm a rambler and I really love Ron a lot and want to interact with people who love it or just generally love Ron as much as I do!
* I am a big romance shipper but I also love writing platonic relationships between characters! Like family found dynamics and such. I am also a rare shipper kind of gal- like shipping Draco and Ron sometimes LOL
* I write mostly romance for aged up/adult characters
* I can word vomit and write long replies a lot- it's how I usually write so please don't feel pressured to write the same length as me!!
* Via discord rp; PLEASE tell me if I write something that ever makes you uncomfortable- I can edit it out and such, I don't mind as long as everyone feels safe.
* I'm really biased with Ron. I can be ooc with him a bit so please do not attack me if you have any problems with my mischaracterization of him. I am only here to have fun and write, to indulge myself with people. I don’t mind ooc
* I have school and responsibilities from my parents so if I don't answer, I'm probs asleep, working or @ college
* Lasty; Dont be shy with interacting with me! I am always happy to make mutuals and friends around here! I would love to answer any questions- either in character or just questions you would want to know about me!! So please dont be shy :D
• FOR NSFW STUFF; PLEASE STOP HERE WHEN YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE TOPIC. THANK YOU AGAIN.
• I usually just write doms/tops and I can get pretty hardcore with smut writing — please tell me if there is any kinks or stuff in smut you don't want to read! I also like dark topics but absolutely no adult/kid. That shit is not allowed in my rp blog. I'm very into some dark content and such but if that's not your cup of tea, please avoid the " DARK TOPIC // " tag.
• I only write nsfw of adult characters and ocs; cant do erp via me. I will only do them via discord as I am way too shy to write them publicly. PLEASE NOTE THOUGH that i will not just write on a whim. I will be able to make headcanons and such but i need to get to know you and feel comfortable enough to write it. I do write suggestive content here and there so my tags here will be " NSFW // " in case you ever want to avoid it.

I've thinking about a Jegulily (Lily/James/Jegulus) A/B/O AU with spy Regulus (and maybe the Malfoys too) where pretty much everyone lives and Harry has lots of siblings, maybe more then Ron, and a few cousins from wolfstar.
I don't mind A/B/O fics. Sometimes, I seek 'em out. I don't like writing people like animals (which contradicts liking to read it). I don't really like the idea that people are unable to control themselves in heat/rut, the dismissal of Betas in general and the reliance on the smells and pheromones. But I do like the idea of nesting, and denning (Alpha nesting), as well as Mpreg and sometimes bonding bites depending on how it's written. I can write pregnant trans/gender-queer masculine-presenting men but I dislike glossing over the difficult emotional aspects of it. So, sometimes I just want to write relatively uncomplicated proud pregnant men. Yet, I like a general understanding of how the fictional universe works. So unexplained male 'carriers' doesn't satisfy me. The benefits of fanfic writing is the world is pre-set up and you can adjust to your own desires.
I'd probably write the A/B/O aspect as an outdated thing found only in wizards. For convenience sake, that would put presentation around age 16-19 (late/end of puberty). There would be easily accessible potion suppressants to avoid strong and/or confusing scents and outdated instincts to make a pack and reproduce (vv common like no-scent workplaces). Bonding bites will die/not be completed if not desired by both/all mates and heats/ruts are mild (so mild people can usually function like girls on their period) until bonded (at which point the secondary gender within recognizes its security with (a) mate(s)) which can still be easily controlled and suppressed with medicines/potions. Like the 50's housewife being unemployed and a housekeeper, being unemployed and off suppressants is basically social code for 'my mate makes enough so I don't have to work and can be kept bare foot & pregnant in the house'. It's considered all of an entitlement and a privilege and a modernly outdated ideal. Sirius and Regulus would both be omegas and Blacks are known for producing alphas. Lily would likely be an Alpha and James a beta (a beta more on the alpha side when not around his alpha mate). Remus would be Sirius' alpha. Peter would be a beta (more on the omega side).
Regulus status as spy was kept need-to-know so few of the order knew. None of the marauders knew until Regulus save them from Peter and Voldemort. Not that anyone got to process or thank or yell at him before he went on a mission to receive the locket horcrux which he survives because both Dumbledore and Krecher were with him.
Things began to settle down after the war with Voldemort. Jily has another baby maybe. I imagine a large post-war generation living in economic prosperity like the real-world baby boom following the second world war. People would be lulled into a sense of security before Voldemort's return and the second wizarding war. I'm thinking it would be a semi-canon compliant/canon divergence AU but to be entirely honest, between work, school, social obligations and other tasks, I likely won't have the time to flush it out and actually write a fanfiction. Yet, the idea continues to form in my head so I've decided to share it with y'all.
So, the first 10 years of Harry's life would be a huge divergence from canon and Harry himself would end up OOC compared to canon Harry. James and Sirius would support Slytherin!Harry (probably while making jokes and stuff but ultimately supportive). If Harry was raised by Regulus, which in this AU he is raised by Jegulily, he'd be confident about being a Slytherin. Either way, I'm 50/50 for Gryffindor or Slytherin Harry.
I have this funny image of Regulus starting out as the sitter for the Potter kid(s) (It also serves as a reason for the Black brothers to be near each other and rebuild their relationship. Sirius would likely be hurt that Regulus didn't tell him he was a spy, letting him think the worst things, and it would likely present as anger.) It would take a while after they started for Regulus to realize he is being dated by the Potters who, knowing the Blacks are 'a bit' old fashioned, would insist on a proper courting before bedding and mating.
I also imagine, in this AU, Draco would have a better chance to be good. Either because his parents were spies in an attempt to protect him from the life he'd had in canon or because Harry would be different and Sirius, the original Black sheep, wouldn't be in prison so he may have been presented an out to escape his parents if they were death eaters. He may not be good, but he'd have a better chance to be. Or to figure it out sooner.
This is all I could type up at this moment and it covers the gist. Now either this idea will finally leave me alone or I've opened up a can of worms. If I expand in an additional post, it didn't go away. We'll see.
UPDATE: This site is shit. I'm not fighting with it. I have decided to add to this AU, probably on Wattpad or AO3 or, hell, I might go back to FFN. I'll update with something solid once I have it figured out. I'm willing to try a new fandom content-sharing sites/apps if there's suggestions.
UPDATE #2: I'm giving this site another shot. Also, I'm on Wattpad (same name) and I'm trying out Neobook (still learning that one, also same name).

A Guide to Writing In-Character
I originally posted this on Reddit but figured it might belong better here. I edited a few parts here and there, but overall it's the same.
______________________________________________________
I've found that there are lots of questions on how to write in character on this subreddit, so I decided to make a guide on how to do... well, that. I will use Harry Potter characters as my examples since it's a popular series most people know. I will also sometimes write in bullet points because I've found that it's easier to read that way. Some Regulus and Sirius Black spoilers though. Read at your own risk.
A quick overview
OOC means "Out of character". OOC does not mean a different appearance, sexuality, etc. It refers to characters whose personalities are written very differently from the source material (breaking character). This means a character who does things that are against their beliefs, that contradict their very nature, that makes the reader think 'this is a writer insert'. And while OOC characters are generally frowned upon, maybe, just maybe, if you come up with a believable reason (maybe your fic is about them getting over a trauma, or they change in some way in your fic), it can work. Speech is also another important factor of writing OOC characters (will be covered later).
When I say OOC, I mean things like Ron Weasley, who is deathly afraid of spiders, suddenly adoring insects, or Draco Malfoy using casual slang. It can be Hermione Granger suddenly not giving a damn about her grades, or Sirius Black no longer being a troublemaker. Though these depend on the fics, most of the time you will want to stay in character.
ADVICE
Fill out a character questionnaire. There is an amazing character questionnaire here. While I don't know who made it (found it online), it's excellent and helps me understand my character so much more! Try filling it out to the best of your ability.
Figure out the character's likes and dislikes, along with their worst fear. This can tell you so much about the character, even if they're not fleshed out very well and/or are minor. If they're so obscure you know virtually nothing about them, then just skip to my character analysis of Regulus Black.
EDIT: Thank you to u/letdragonslie for pointing this out to me! Here's a section of their comment that explains things perfectly:
All of this is excellent advice, but I'd like to add that you also need to pinpoint a character's flaws and negative traits. To use your Hermione example, she's also bossy, rather close-minded, holds herself to too-high standards, and can get so focused on studying and doing well academically that it can negatively impact her social life and mental health. Even if you hit all of a character's likes and dislikes, and nail their motivations and positive character traits, if you neglect to include their flaws and negative traits, it still won't feel like them. For example, a Zuko who is not angry, impulsive, and obsessive just doesn't feel like Zuko.
It's also important to know what (or who) matters to your character, and why. With Hermione, it isn't 100% clear why she cares about academics so much. A large part of it is probably that she just enjoys reading and learning, but it also seems like she didn't have many friends before she came to Hogwarts--she certainly has difficulty making them while she's there. So perhaps she focused on academics to compensate. Additionally, Hermione's parents are both professionals, so it's likely that they raised her to value her education. Why does Hermione get almost fanatical about it? It seems as though she ties a lot of her self-worth to doing well academically.
And an additional dialogue tip: many fandom wikis will have transcripts available so that you can study the characters' speech pattern better.
Connect everything. This one's very important and I know it sounds kind of vague, but make sure everything follows a logic and keep on digging deeper. Ask questions like How, Why, and In what ways to help dive deeper. The character questionnaire will be super helpful, I promise.
Here's an example: if a character loves playing a sport and practices all day long, this tells you that they are determined and very passionate about things. What if they like this one sport, but hate all the others? That tells you they're very particular. Ask yourself why they chose this particular sport. Is it because of the need for communication? that they play with a team? or that they play without a team?
Continuing with the example above, let's say that this character is very arrogant and constantly demeans others/brags about themselves. This tells you that they like being in control and are confident in their abilities, so when things don't go their way they get upset easily and/or shocked. What if they're a social butterfly? That means they like soaking up others' attention, and are good at holding a conversation. This also tells us that they have lots of charm. We're drawing conclusions from facts. That's the best way I can describe this.
In case you're wondering, the character I'm talking about is Oikawa Tooru from the volleyball anime Haikyuu. He's a character with lots of layers, so I didn't do him justice with this mini-analysis, but I hope this is a good example.
Applying what was covered above
Character analysis: Hermione Granger
Likes: books, doing well academically, studying, reading from the Hogwarts library, standing up for minorities' rights (house elves)
Dislikes: people making stereotypes about her because she's a Muggleborn, discrimination
Worst fear(s): getting expelled from school, failing a test
Now we take each trait and draw conclusions from it.
doing well academically -> determined, ambitious
studying -> has self-control (can force herself to sit down and study) -> mature
reading from the Hogwarts library -> curious
standing up for minorities' rights (house elves) -> righteous
getting expelled from school, failing a test -> afraid of failure -> might not accept mistakes and just constantly bring herself down whenever she does badly. Probably gets hung up about it.
By drawing conclusions and interpreting Hermione Granger's likes, dislikes, worst fears, goals, and more, we can understand what type of person she is and get an inside view into how she thinks, what questions she asks, her sense of humor, how she reacts to some things, etc.
Analyzing minor characters
Now, Regulus Black was a very important character. He played a role in his brother Sirius' development, along with influencing Harry and teaching him and Dumbledore about the Horcruxes though indirectly. We don't know much about him though, so we try to make up conjectures that seem likely and piece it all together. Everyone interprets characters in different ways, and with the little knowledge we know about him it's likely everyone will be off by a bit.
His older brother Sirius was a delinquent + Gryffindor = disowned, so all the family pressure likely fell on Regulus, with his parents trying to convince him to join Voldemort and whatnot.
He was probably the 'good kid': Prefect of Slytherin, good grades, obedient. He was probably calm and rather shy, and while some people might argue he was meek because he turned to Voldemort, I disagree because 1) his own brother basically abandoned him during crucial developmental years, especially with a family like that and 2) he did defect from Voldemort in the end and sacrificed his life. That being said, many "perfect kids" have secrets to hide, so there's a good chance Regulus also had a more hidden and wilder side. And knowing Slytherin, he had to have a pretty good dose of ambition. Maybe he became less trusting of others, or maybe he got mental health issues from being with an abusive family.
See how we're taking what we know of this character and turning it into an outline we understand?
_________
Alright, time for tips now.
TIPS
TIP 1: Know how your character speaks.
Some characters talk with long sentences, others short. Others don't talk at all. Dialogue is a very important way to immerse your reader and write more in character. It's not only a way to advance the plot, but every line tells you something about the character. Go back and reread or rewatch clips of the character talking--note the vocabulary used (is it fancy? informal? how is its cadence?) and the sentence structure (are the sentences short, choppy, and to the point? or long and rambling?)
It helps to hear the characters' voices as you're writing. It's okay, though, if the book doesn't have a movie adaptation. Also write down common phrases they use, and nicknames are helpful too. See how differently these two characters would reply to the same question:
Q: Did you see my textbook anywhere?
Draco Malfoy: Are you as blind as Potter now? It's under the table there. If you have to get glasses, don't buy ones that look like an insect is sitting on your face.
Luna Lovegood: It might be under the table, the one with the ancient runes all over it. Oh, but watch out for the Screezling Bumbegnagle down there, my father says they bite.
It's a little late right now so I don't think I did Draco Malfoy justice but I hope this helps works things out. Oh, and Screezling Bumbegnagles aren't from the source material.
TIP 2: Make the characters do what they will naturally do. Don't try forcing them to do something that goes against their nature.
Pretty self explanatory, right? If a character is very perceptive with people in general, don't make them be oblivious for 20k words for the sake of a friends to lovers fic.
TIP 3: Rewatch/reread and pay attention to the characters' reactions. Also pay attention to their mannerisms.
Again, pretty self explanatory. Observe how they react to certain events; are there some that trigger them? how do they react to a joke? do they have friends or sidekick? As for their mannerisms, look at their nervous ticks and body language. Do they bite their nails, or hug themselves when they're nervous?
TIP 4: Find some quotes that you feel reflect the character you're writing and use them to construct similar dialogue.
My English teacher from a few years back actually told me this when I asked how to write in character (she wrote some fics herself) and it helped so much.
TIP 5: Practice, practice, practice.
_______________
And... that's the end! Took me a while to type this up so I'm sorry for any mistakes in advance (it's also incredibly late here), but hope this helps and thank you for reading :)

I will be basic and say AA for the ask meme
put a fandom in my ask and i’ll answer:
otp: krisnix, my beloveds
favourite canon pairing: I would say miego but their canonness is a little nebulous. Like they were definitely *something* but it's unclear whether they were ever officially a couple--or just had feelings on both sides. So I am going to say Dessie/Ron.
worst pairing ever: what if I said narumitsu, what then? Honest answer is probably franmaya. Is it objectively a bad ship, not at all. I just don't "get it." Like I "get" narumayo, narumitsu, klapollo, etc even if I don't find them particularly interesting. But franmaya...it's just...they barely interact in canon and when they do, it isn't really particularly meaningful imo. Just slightly antagonistic but not in a fun, foe yay way like with klema or langworth. It feels like they just got paired because they are two female characters that are around the same age--and because fandom decided narumayo and fradrian were "too problematic." And even if we are sticking to the narrow criteria of female characters between 16-18 in the Trilogy timeline, both of them seem like they would "work" much better with Kay or Ema than with each other. Also I do feel like some of the potentially interesting aspects of the franmaya ship tend to get watered down by the fandom in favor of making them soft generic uwu girlfriends--which seems particularly ooc for Ziska at least.
guilty pleasure pairing: so many but the guiltiest is probably *whispers* Phoenix/Athena. Also Lanagantworth.
a pairing you want to see more: every ship that isn't narumitsu, klapollo, and franmaya lol. Honestly, there are so many really interesting pairings in this fandom that just get slept on, so I am going to try to limit myself to particularly rare "rare pairs" that I feel could and should have so much more content than they do. Lana/Godot (specifically in the post-canon, hurt/comfort way), Apollo/Nahyuta, Franziska/Aura, Lang/Franziska, Apollo/Edgeworth, Edgeworth/Blackquill, Lana/Blackquill, Klavier/Larry, Edgeworth/Justine.
that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: narumitsu. I can only ever tolerate if it's a poly ship with Kristoph, Lang, or Larry--and even then, I prefer the other iterations of the triad. Ironically I think I could really like narumitsu if and only if it wasn't the fandom juggernaut pairing--as a lot of the things I like about krisnix, cykesquill and/or nahyupollo are the same things that other people like about narumitsu. But 90 times out of 100, my brain sees the popular ship and is just like "ha ha, nope" and finds a rare pair to be insane about instead.
favorite non-romantic pair: Kay & Edgeworth & Gumshoe (though it's okay if it's kay + romantic gumworth). Their dynamic just resonates with me in a way that none of the other play character + assistant(s) do nearly as strong. I was largely indifferent to Miles before I was exposed to Investigations. I liked him well enough, but I never really understood why the fandom was so fixated on him. But Kay and Gumshoe--and especially both of them together-- are such wonderful foils to him, as their differences and similarities allow us to get to see the "real" Edgeworth--as opposed to the idealized version of him that Phoenix has or the "Demon Prosecutor" that his reputation conveys.

✨Hello my loves, I'm a 19f looking for some Harry Potter roleplays!✨
I'm a full time student and I work part time, so I try my best to reply somewhat frequently, but sometimes I have more time/muse and other times I have less, and I can absolutely understand the same thing for my partner! I will, however, keep you posted!
Additionally, I love talking ooc, about our characters or the plot, or just about life in general. I want to see the tiktoks, the interest boards, the fanfic, the fanarts, the headcanons, the songs, all of it! Tell me about other things you're passionate about. I don't just want to roleplay, I want to be friendly as well!
I love angst, and am very happy to involve it/some dark themes so long as we discuss them beforehand, although it is not necessary. I'm also entirely open to kinks/nsfw aspects so we can 100% discuss that as well! Generally speaking, I don't love to write characters that are more "dominant" in those situations as well, and tend to write bottoms/switches leaning bottom.
I write literately and can do novella but I really don't prefer it and will likely burn out. I generally give from 1-5 paras, or from 1k-4k depending on time, muse, and point of the rp! I also def prefer writing on discord because that makes things a lot easier! I do not double or write against oc's, so please don't ask :).
I will also say that I love to give my characters in depth characterizations and things of the sort, and I don't tend to write "macho macho man" characters in the same way that I don't want to write "uwu softboi" characters, and I would prefer my partner not do that as well!
As far as the pairings go! Here are some I would love to write. The characters that are my absolute favorite to write are probably. My character is bolded.
Golden Trio Era:
Harry Potter x Draco Malfoy
Harry Potter x Ron Weasley
Hermione Granger x Harry Potter
(Willing to combine any/all of these ships as well)
Marauders Era:
Lily Evans x James Potter
Lily Evans x Remus Lupin
Lily Evans x Sirius Black
Lily Evans x Pandora Rosier
Remus Lupin x Sirus Black
(I'd also be willing to combine any/all of the above ships)
If you think of a ship you want to write, but don't see it, feel free to ask as well! I'm also open to doing multiple ships/roleplays :). But also be aware that I am allowed to say no or that I am disinterested in a suggested ship, and those above are the ones I am the most interested in.
Like the post and I will reach out!! <3
like if you're interested and op will reach out

how do u deal with ppl irl who hate romione, love dramione, love draco or all that stuff? do you say anything or stay quiet? my sister is a huge draco fan and she believes in the fanon interpretation of him and says fanfics did a better job with his character than jkr. shes not a dramione though, shes a drarry bc of all the fanfics lol
I roam in very selected places. Reddit, Quora, some fanpages on Facebook and my corner of Tumblr. I don't come across dramione shippers in those places.
On Instagram I do come across a few dramione shippers every now and then but I ignore them unless they try to run down Romione/Ron. I just let them be. I try my best to avoid any post or comment about them totally.
But I am being very frank with you, I really don't care about either Draco or Dramione anymore. If they didn't bash Ron/Romione I wouldn't have even acknowledged them. In the past I spent so much time trying to rationalise 'why would people change a character completely to ship him with Hermione? What's their problem with Ron?' And I have learnt that people just have different tastes. That's it.
I find Draco a boring character who has little to no character development. Even Dudley and Kreacher have better character arcs than him. And neither I am interested in giving him a whole ass new persona to make him interesting nor do I find Dramione an exciting ship. Its cliche, overdone, boring and OOC. But as I said different tastes.
So I just ignore them/let them be🤷‍♀️
