It was one of those days where everything seemed to conspire against you. As you trudged through the bustling streets of New York City, your camera bag heavy on your shoulder, you couldn't shake off the feeling of exhaustion that clung to you like a stubborn shadow. The sweltering heat of the summer sun only added to your irritation as you made your way to the Daily Bugle, where you were interning as a photographer.
Your future boss, Mr. Jameson, was notorious for his gruff demeanor and demanding nature. Today seemed to be no exception, as he barked orders at the staff, his voice reverberating through the newsroom like thunder. Your friend, Jay, was massaging his forehead, and you couldn't help but go there first. He looked up to see you and gave you a tired smile.
"Rough already?"
"And it's not even 9 a.m." Jay spat in anger, and you opened your bag to give him some of the jelly you always carry around. He took them slightly happier, opening as he started talking again. "He's putting stupid challenges on everyone here. Rumor has it that he's getting jealous of the other newspaper company since they took the #1 place from us."
"Well, wish me luck." You braced yourself for another onslaught of criticism as you approached his desk, hoping to avoid his wrath.
"Ah, there you are," Mr. Jameson said, his tone dripping with impatience. "I've got a special assignment for you."
You felt your heart sink at his words, knowing that whatever task he had in store would likely be arduous and thankless, just like Jay said. But you nodded, steeling yourself for whatever was to come.
"I want you to get me a picture of Spider-Man," he said bluntly, his eyes narrowing in a challenging glare.
Your jaw nearly hit the floor at his request. Spider-Man? The elusive vigilante who swung through the city was a hero to some and a menace to others. Getting a photo of him in action was no small feat, and you knew it.
"But how am I supposed to…" you began, but Mr. Jameson cut you off with a dismissive wave of his hand.
"I don't care how you do it; just get it done," he said firmly. "And make it front-page material, or you'll be out of your ear."
With that ominous warning hanging in the air, you felt a wave of panic wash over you. How were you supposed to capture a photo of Spider-Man when you could barely catch a break in your own life? Desperation clawed at your chest as you racked your brain for a solution. He looked at Jay, and he was with his mouth open. She was simply screwed.
The hours passed slowly, and 7 o'clock of the night finally reached, which made you fly to the only place you find comfort at the moment. Shim Jake's place. Feeling all the weight on your shoulders, you sigh as you knock on the door. His aunt opens before your knuckles can touch the door.
"Hey darling… Oh no, bad day?" like a button, your eyes got watery, and she hugged you. You hold your tears as she loses you in the warm hug. "I'm going to buy food. Jake and Ni-Ki are in the room. I know what you like."
"You are truly the best, May."
"I know, darling. Go." She left you, and you entered the house, going directly to the Australian boy's room. You knocked, and you heard things falling.
"Who's it?"
"Who else, Ni-Ki? Come on, I had a bad day, and I need you guys."
"Hold on a second!" A few seconds passed, and Jake was the one who opened the door, his messy hair, sweat pant and big white shirt and hsi big glasses that made him look more handsome than usual in front of you. "Hey lensgirl, what's wrong?"
You went for a hug, this time with tears going down and your crying getting noticeable.
Jake was taken aback by your sudden display of emotion, immediately wrapping his arms around you in a comforting embrace. "Hey, hey, it's okay," he murmured softly, rubbing your back soothingly. "What happened? Why are you crying?"
You sniffled, trying to compose yourself as you pulled away slightly. "It's just… work," you managed to choke out between sobs. "Mr. Jameson… He wants me to get a photo of Spider-Man for the front page, and I- I don't know how to do it. I'm so screwed, Jake."
Jake's expression softened with understanding, though you had no idea just how much he truly understood. "Hey, it's okay," he repeated, guiding you to sit on his bed. "We'll figure it out, okay? You're not alone in this."
Ni-Ki, hearing the commotion, poked his head out from behind the doorframe. "Jake can help," he said, and you could feel Jake getting tense. You looked up to Ni-Ki.
"What?"
"Jake knows Spider-Man. You could get the picture." You open your eyes as your eyes travel again to Jake's.
"Since when?!" You practically shouted at him, and he gave a shy smile, which you loved, but the thought of him being friends with the hero and not telling you was in your mind.
"I'll tell you right after you clean and calm yourself. You know what? Go to the bathroom." As you were protesting, Jake obligated you to go inside. The boys went straight to the room and locked it, Jake basically punching Ni-Ki for opening his mouth.
"Are you being serious?! Why did you say that?"
"You know I'm fond of her, and I can't stand her crying. And also, I'm doing you a favor; you've liked her since forever, and with this, you can make a move. And you know that she loves Spider-Man. I consider this a win."
Jake's heart raced as he processed Ni-Ki's words. He couldn't deny the truth about them. He had harbored feelings for you for what felt like forever, but he never found the courage to act on them, and because of the sudden powers he got after being bite by a spider, the dangers were too much to the point he would rather die with the secret in order to keep you save. That's how much he loved you.
But at the same time, he couldn't help but feel the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders. Keeping his identity as Spider-Man a secret was crucial, and now, with you unknowingly on the brink of discovering the truth, he felt the pressure mounting.
Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Jake turned to Ni-Ki. "Okay, okay," he muttered, running a hand through his hair in agitation. "But we have to be careful. She can't know about this, Ni-Ki. It's too risky."
Ni-Ki nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I won't say anything else, I promise. Only you have to stay cool, you get to nervous around her. I'm surprise you're not right now" he assured Jake.
"Because someone open his mouth"
"Stop crying and be grateful. I pulled a move that you couldn't make for the past 4 years."
Tumblr media
It has already been two days since that weird conversation and the explanation of Jake being friends with Spider-Man. It was so odd to you, but the most odd thing was when he told you by text, "I will send you the address where he's going to be."
And here you were, going into the alley for him to arrive. It was getting late, and you could feel your heart beating fast when you saw a few guys in there, cigars in their hands, their auras as bad as how they looked.
"Hey, sweetheart," one of them said, which you ignored completely.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you ignored the leering comments from the men in the alley. You clutched your camera bag tightly, feeling a surge of unease as you realized just how vulnerable you were in this dimly lit space.
Just as panic threatened to overtake you, a familiar sound cut through the tension—a whoosh of air followed by the distinct thud of impact. Before you could even process what was happening, Spider-Man descended from the shadows, landing gracefully in front of you with his trademark agility.
"Hey there, fellas," Spider-Man said, his voice tinged with a hint of amusement. "I don't think the lady appreciates your company."
The men scoffed, eyeing Spider-Man with a mixture of defiance and uncertainty. "And who are you supposed to be, huh?" One of them sneered, taking a step forward. You started taking your camera out of your bag, setting it up for a good shot, and to make it take as many photos as you could as both men focused on the hero.
Spider-Man's demeanor shifted subtly, his stance becoming more assertive as he addressed the group. "Let's just say I'm the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and I'm not too keen on seeing people hassle innocent bystanders, especially this pretty girl," he replied, his tone firm.
The men hesitated, sizing up the masked vigilante before them. But before they could make another move, Spider-Man sprang into action, his movements a blur of speed and precision. With calculated strikes and well-timed dodges, he swiftly incapacitated the would-be troublemakers, leaving them groaning on the ground in defeat.
You watched in awe as Spider-Man effortlessly dispatched the thugs, a surge of gratitude welling up inside you. Once the immediate threat had been neutralized, Spider-Man turned to you, his masked eyes meeting yours with a sense of warmth and reassurance. You took your camera and looked at the pictures, so many good enough to be front page material.
"Are you okay there?" he asked, his concern evident even behind the mask.
You nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over you in his presence. "Yeah, I'm okay," you stammered, still trying to process the whirlwind of events that had just unfolded before you. You felt some drops of water falling on your face, looking up at the sky and wondering if more drops were falling. "Damn it, it's raining."
"Then let me take you out of here." without a warning, his hand wrapped around your waist, both of your bodies covering the camera. "Hold on tight lensgirl," you frown at the nicknmae. There's only one person that could call you like that, but you couldn't think much of it as you held dear life to him as he swang you around places.
You ended up on your apartment building—in your balcony, to be more exact—and the roof kept both of you off the water, you went inside for a moment to leave the camera in your bed and return. He was hanging from the ceiling as you watched him, forcing you to believe that everything that happened in the past ten minutes was not a dream.
"Don't you want to stand up? So you don't get dizzy."
"I like it this way. Don't worry. Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am. Thank you."
"No problem, that's my job."
"Because you're a hero," the masked guy sighs in front of you. making you feel slighty sad for it.
"Some people don't think so." and it was true, all the fake rumors to paint him as a bad guy made you think about how much free time all this people have to just tear the life of someone who really wants to help.
"But you are, at least I think that."
"It's nice to have a fan as pretty as you."
"Let me say thank you."
"But you already did."
"I meant the trip, not you saving me." You approached him more, and the sound of the rain at the back made the scene more lovely. Then slowly took the mask, only showing his lips. You were surprised by the familiar shape, making your mind go wild. No wonder Ni-Ki and Jake got nervous; no wonder Jake was the only one that could help you with the hero; and there's no wonder why he called you "Lensgirl."
Jake was Spider-Man.
Leaving your thoughts behind, you place your lips on his. The kiss was electrifying, a rush of emotions coursing through both of you as your lips met in a tender embrace. Raindrops fell softly around you, adding to the surreal moment as you shared this intimate connection with the masked hero who had just swept you off your feet—literally.
As the kiss deepened, you felt a sense of clarity wash over you. Everything suddenly made sense—the mysterious conversations, the unspoken tension between you and Jake, even the strange nickname he had given you. It was all because he was Spider-Man, the hero you had admired from afar, and now he was the man whose lips were pressed against yours.
Time seemed to stand still as you lost yourself in the kiss, the world fading away until it was just the two of you tangled together on that rooftop balcony.
"Thank you, Jake," you whispered, your voice barely audible over the sound of the rain.
"Wait… how?"
"You let out "Lensgirl," and I've stared at your lips too much to actually know the shape," he finally dropped himself, taking off his mask completely, revealing his red cheeks and normal shy demeanor.
He actually searched your face for any sign of rejection. "I know it's a lot to take in," he said softly, his thumb brushing against your cheek. "But I wanted to tell you, not in this way; I've got to learn to also shut my mouth up. I… I care about you more than you'll ever know."
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes as you reached up to cup his face in your hands, the weight of everything finally sinking in. "I care about you too, Jake," you admitted, your voice trembling with emotion. "I just… I never imagined…"
Before you could finish your sentence, Jake leaned in to capture your lips in another kiss, sealing the unspoken words between you with a promise of something more.
With a smile on your lips and love in your heart, you leaned into Jake's embrace, letting the warmth of his touch chase away the chill of the night as you watched the city skyline glitter in the rain.
"Please write a good news about me."
"Trust me, you'll sure have it, Spidey."
"I just realized that I've to thank Ri-Ki, damn it."

the chatter of students filled the lecture hall.
the dark blue cushioned seats in the curved rows bent into a semicircle around a small stage filled as the minutes ticked, nearing 9 o'clock. it signified the first class in the spring semester for students enrolled in the humanities major at seoul university.
you were one of these students.
a laptop and many papers were laid in front of you on the light wooden table that extended in your long row of seats, nearing the middle of the hall. every now and then you raised your wrist to check the small watch there, watching the small arm rotate around the round object, nearing the start of the lecture with every swift tick.
the chatter throughout the large hall suddenly grew louder as several loud voices joined in. the door swung open and a group of guys’ laughter filled the hall, echoing in the big room. the majority of people who were quietly waiting for the lecture to start looked back towards the door of the lecture hall with an annoyed glance, unhappy that peace and quiet was even further from being achieved.
you glanced back, annoyed as well, but you added an eye roll and a small scoff when you realized who was responsible for contributing to the noise.
a group of guys, well known to everyone not only in the humanities major, but throughout the entire campus. though you knew who they were and hated them for all the trouble they caused, there was one person in that group you hated in particular, more than the others.
seungmin.
———————
"you dumbass." "you idiot." "how about you take your brain and shove it up your butt?" "which part of it?" "oh, just shut up, you're so annoying." these conversations and nicknames had been spoken on a (nearly) daily basis, from you to seungmin and from seungmin to you. back and forth.
you both had known each other since high school, both top students competing against each other to get better marks, to get into better universities than each other. you often strived to overdo each other when it came to almost anything related to grades.
this was also what landed you two in the roles of academic rivals automatically.
he was the person who was utterly annoying, while you were the person he annoyed regularly. you were supposed to hate him, and you did.
when you graduated from high school, you’d hoped to escape from him, to get into a different university and part ways with the annoying guy who nagged at you 24/7, played pranks on you, and called you names whenever you saw each other. every time this happened you would just scoff and roll your eyes then walk away, too tired to play along to his childish games. you applied to every good university you could find, hoping the one that offered the highest scholarship would not be the one seungmin went to as well.
in other words, good riddance.
at the end of the june before you were supposed to start school, seoul university accepted your application. with a half-paid scholarship.
which was the best you could have hoped for, considering that seoul university was one of the best in the country.
you practically screamed of happiness when you opened your laptop that day to find that email there, sitting in your inbox.
you were cheerful for a whole week after you accepted the university’s invitation—
until another series of events started.
how unlucky could you get? “hey idiot, you’re going to seoul university too?
your wishing had not worked. that extremely annoying voice broke your false hope once again.
seungmin.
you were going to die.
———————
the group of boys continued down the aisle in the lecture hall, ignorant to all the glances everyone was giving them. you turned back and scowled at your laptop, crossing your arms over your chest.
you had hated seungmin for his antics and teasing since high school, and you weren’t going stop now, in your second year of university. you were immune to his charms, unlike the majority of girls, who would probably swoon for any guy who was tall, good-looking and played any sport.
suddenly the hall went quiet and you straightened up as our professor came onto the stage, arranging papers on the podium and adjusting the microphone attached to it. she looked around the hall, spotting the seven guys who were in the middle of an aisle and still had not sat down. she scowled and narrowed her eyes at them.
“boys in the back, find a seat in 10 seconds or it’s out of the hall for you,” professor cho said in an authoritative tone through the microphone.
at this, the guys froze and started fumbling to find seats. you almost burst out laughing at their actions.
“for heaven’s sake, boys, there is a perfectly empty row of seats right behind you,” the professor deadpanned, not even hiding her impatience at this point.
this time, you were the one who froze at your professor’s words. that was your row. the row you were sitting in. you quietly cursed under your breath. what a great way to start off the spring semester.
you cringed internally as the guys shifted their gaze towards you. you could practically feel the amount of smugness radiating off all of them as you heard shuffling next to you and then quiet bickering.
as the professor promptly started the lecture, you stole a glance at the seven guys just two seats away, still messing around with each other. you wondered how seungmin could keep up with his grades all the while being so carefree.
frowning, you grabbed your pen, starting to take notes and concentrating on the speaking professor.
two and a half hours passed like ten minutes, in the blink of an eye.
“students, i’m going to assign a project that will revolve around all of you for the entire spring semester,” the professor announced near the end of the lecture, in a better mood since the start.
“you will be partnered with another person, two people per group,” all the students’ immediate whispers began.
professor cho proceeded to explain the project.
“this project is a very important one that will cost you a big portion of your grade, so this is not to be messed around with,” she continued, ignoring everyone’s groans around the lecture hall about stress due to schoolwork.
“i trust you will all choose your partners wisely, thank you,” with that, the collective sound of chairs being pushed back started as the professor disappeared off the stage.
sighing, you stuffed your things back into your bag. if there was one thing you hated in school, it was partnered projects and assignments. wanting to be alone and avoiding social contact sure wasn’t as easy in school.
you stood up and heaved your bag onto your shoulder, heading towards the end of the row to get out of the hall until someone stopped you.
if you said you were straight-up unlucky, you certainly would not be lying. experiencing an unfortunate series of events at the most unexpected times was probably a gift or something from above. or below, whatever.
“hey, idiot,” it was seungmin.
of course he had to come to you with his extremely annoying presence at this very inconvenient time. you should have figured, knowing your luck when you were around him.
you looked up, sighing. he was standing directly in the middle of the aisle, both hands gripping the tables on either side of him, blocking your path.
“what do you want?” you asked impatiently, in a rush to get to your next destination.
seungmin leaned onto one of the tables and smirked.
a smirk that could probably make many girls on campus, excluding you, as you might add, faint to the ground on the spot.
you had started to try and get past the annoying blonde when he suddenly spoke.
“do the project with me.”

Despite having fallen on hard times, Winifred took it upon herself to host a party on Christmas Eve with all their loved ones. Back in the workhouse, they were lucky to afford anything better than porridge for dinner. But now that she had a family of her own she was determined to make it special.
Millie, Beth and Louise could not allow her to do all the cooking alone so they each put on their aprons and happily got to work beside her. They spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen preparing for the dinner, sounds of laughter heard above whisks mixing doughs and icing frantically inside porcelain bowls.
Valerie began helping herself to the wine intended for cooking early on in the day, already causing her to become a little tipsy before they'd even put the ham in the oven. Beth of course was the first one to scold her, but with Ozzy nearby, she wouldn't raise her voice. Instead, she put her hands on her hips with disproving eyes and a scowl of disappointment. It was moments like these where Winifred couldn't help thinking that Beth truly was meant to be someone's mother.
Ozzy remained close while the women worked. He wasn't a shy child by any means and soaked up all the attention he got from everyone telling him how adorable his Christmas outfit was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At last, nearing the hour of 7 o'clock, with everyone gathered round the table wearing their finest silks, all of their hard work would be enjoyed by all.
They set up the dining table with everything they had prepared - cranberry sauce, a charcuterie board with aged cheese and sausage, potatoes grown right on the Baudelaire's farm, delicious cookies and pies for dessert, warm spiced rum and hot cocoa to drink, and best of all, a perfectly cooked ham that was from a frequent patron of the pub that had been gifted to the McAdam's.
Everyone treasured the food, knowing full well that their meal wouldn't be anywhere near as extravagant without Millie's expertise, which they all took turns admiring. Between the spiced rum, and the thrill of Christmas only hours away, they chatted excitedly between bites throughout the entirety of dinner.
Everyone went back for seconds, some even going for thirds until all of them, even the picky eaters, left the table with their bellies full.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one could afford to give that many presents this year but not a soul amongst them seemed to mind. They each were completely content to simply enjoy each others company. Even the children, who were eager all the same to receive their new mittens and perfectly ripe oranges. Besides, they both were still too small to actually understand that they hadn't gotten much compared to others.
Lawrence had received new cotton fabric to sew himself up new work shirts and Winifred a plethora of new ink wells and paper from the McAdams. All of them received something hand-knitted from Beth, and from Millie, beautiful cross-stich embroideries to hang in their homes.
It was a terrific haul, and certainly more than anyone could ask for all things considered. However, the most surprising of all was Lawrence's gift to Winifred - two tickets to the theater come Spring - which had, of course, been suggested by Marmee.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After all the gifts had been opened, the night carried on late into the evening. Lawrence even brought out the old music box he had been gifted for Christmas nearly two decades prior and Jackson and Louise began dancing around the living room elegantly. However, drunk on rum and holiday cheer, Lawrence insisted that he and Valerie could do better.
He and Valerie were clumsy, tromping all over the others feet and losing their place in the steps to the dance. All in good fun, Millie and Winifred began cackling as they watched them, unable to contain how humorous it was to watch, while Beth dramatically hung her head in shame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The children began to grow rather fussy, both Ozzy and Nellie awake far past their bedtimes, and the festivities had to come to an end eventually.
Winifred and Lawrence stood in the doorway, thanking their guests for coming and helping in the kitchen, as well as all their delightful new gifts. Winifred and Lawrence watched them go until they could no longer see their silhouettes in the dark, both ignoring the cold until they could no longer stand it.
The night had been exactly what they needed to forget their worries even if it couldn't last forever. While drifting off to sleep that night, everyone would reflect on what a wonderful Christmas it was, contented to have spent it together.

late night driving - luke hughes
Tumblr media
summary: bad weeks at uni mean good boyfriends trying to cheer you up. and luke was the very best boyfriend so of course you two went driving and got ice cream and watched the sunset to cheer you up.
a/n: this is a little fic i wrote from an anons request for luke hughes x zegras sister sneaking out to get ice cream. this takes place once they've started dating but in secret. its purely fluff and its just super cute!! hope you like it 🫶
pairing: luke hughes x zegras sister!reader
warnings: some swearing and talk of anxiety
Honestly, saying you had a shitty week felt like an understatement. You'd been back to Uni for a few weeks and you already felt like you were drowning. You'd been late to class 3 times this week, it rained and you fell into a puddle, one of your profs is horrible, you'd been so anxious everyday and to top everything off, between you and Luke being busy you hadn't gotten to see each other all week.
But it was finally Friday night and you were so excited to curl up on the couch, do nothing but watch shitty sitcoms and not move for hours. You made instant ramen, grabbed a blanket that still smelled like Luke from when he was at your dorm last weekend, and settled in. Your roommate was going out for the night so you had the whole room to yourself.
Your peace was interrupted 5 episodes into your binge. At this point it was 7 o'clock. It was too early for your roommate to be back but too late for someone uninvited to show up. And you sure as hell hadn't invited anyone.
You got off the couch, extremely pissed at the fact that anyone would dare interrupt your quiet Friday night. You feel a little different after you open the door though.
"Hey babe." Says a familiar voice when you open the door.
"Oh my god Luke. How did you know I needed you tonight?" You ask, jumping into your boyfriends arms.
"I always know...plus I could kinda guess from the very aggressive texts you've been sending me all week."
You laugh. "Yeah well my week has been less than perfect that's for sure." You lead Luke into your dorm and the two of you have a seat on your bed.
"Babe, tell me about it. Why was your week so bad?"
"I just- it was one bad event after another. Over and over again. I couldn't catch a break. From falling into a puddle to having coffee spilt on me to having a really shitty professor it felt like nothing was going right. And then I was just so anxious every single day. And I haven't felt this anxious in so long and I just didn't know how to deal with it." You take a deep breath. It feels good to let your feelings out to someone you trust.
Luke rubs your back. "I'm so sorry your week so shitty babe. I'm also sorry I couldn't have been there for you. I should've been I was just bu-"
You cut your boyfriend off. "You don't have to apologise Luke. I get it. Life is busy and you don't always have time."
"But I always want to have time for you. You are so important to me." You sit in silence for a few moments and then it's Luke who speaks first.
"Wanna go grab some ice cream? We could maybe even still have time to catch the sunset."
You smile. Luke always knows what you need. "Yeah, I'd love that." But also where does Jack think you are? He doesn't know we're dating yet and I know he's a little bit overprotective."
"Yeah, um I kinda snuck out. And he's probably blowing up my phone right now but I don't care. I'm an adult and I wanted to come see you." You smile up at Luke while he gets off the bed. You never thought you'd start falling in love with him this fast but yet here you were.
Luke grabs your hand and the two of you run down the hallway out to Luke's car. You hop into the passenger seat and Luke gets in and starts the car. As he's pulling away, he places a gentle hand on your thigh. You look over at him to see he has a content and peaceful smile on his face as he drives. It overbearing to think you have this kind of effect on him.
Luke parks at the curb and hand in hand, you walk into the ice cream shop. It's a cute little retro diner type place that just opened up a few weeks ago.
Luke, being the boring boy he is, orders plain vanilla while you get your favourite. Luke pays and you return to his car.
"Do you wanna go to the overpass and watch the sunset?"
Luke knows that, that's what you want to do so you just smile. On the drive you play music and Luke hums along while you go full out, pretending you're in a music video. He laughs, not quite sure how he was able to land an amazing person like you.
You arrive just in time. The sky is full of oranges, pinks and reds. Luke helps you up onto the hood of his car and two of you cuddle up, eat your ice cream and watch the setting sun.
When the sky is fully dark you get back in and start driving. You assume Luke will drop you back off at your dorm but all of a sudden you realise he's driving the wrong way.
"Luke are you trying to kidnap me? Where are we going?"
He picks up your hand from where it's resting on the console and kisses it.
"I have no clue babe, but I do know I'm not ready to end this night yet so let's keep driving and see where we end up, okay."
You Look at Luke with all the love in the world in your eyes.
"Okay."

The umbrella became a makeshift shield against the remaining raindrops, Heeseung holding it up over you. His arm circled your waist, creating an intimate cocoon as you both walked the dimly lit streets, back towards the sanctuary of the hotel.
As you strolled, a minor detail caught your attention – the Eiffel Tower stood tall in the background, a silent witness to the confession that had unfolded in its rain-soaked embrace. The setting couldn't have been more perfect, and you marveled at the serendipity that painted this moment against the backdrop of one of the world's most iconic landmarks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You slouched in your chair, glancing over at your friends Suyeon and Kazuha. The language class was buzzing with pre-class excitement, everyone chattering and catching up after the weekend. Suyeon was animatedly discussing her weekend escapades, and Kazuha was doodling something in his notebook
The door swung open, and your teacher walked in with an unusually joyful expression. "Settle down, students," she announced, placing her bag on the desk and facing the eager class. The room hushed as everyone turned their attention to her. "I have some happy news. With some convincing from the school and your parents, we have gotten permission to travel to Paris next week!"
The classroom erupted in cheers and applause. The pleas for a field trip had finally paid off. "Now, I know you're all excited, but don't rush into this, alright?" the teacher cautioned, quieting the room. She began handing out papers to each student. "All the information you need is written down. Make sure to be on time with everything you need for this trip. It will not only be fun but instructive as well. Remember, it's still school, not a vacation."
You eagerly unfolded the paper, scanning the details. The class would meet at 7 o'clock in front of the school, where a bus would take them to the airport. They would stay in Paris for three days before returning. Your mind started racing with thoughts of the Eiffel Tower, croissants, and the Louvre.
"What are you guys thinking of packing?" Kazuha asked, breaking the brief silence that followed.
"Clothes," you replied with a teasing smile, earning a laugh from Kazuha.
"I know you want to talk about the trip, but save it for lunch. Class is still in session," the teacher reminded, ushering everyone back into focus. With a sigh, she delved into the more mundane part of the lecture, but your mind was already on the streets of Paris and the adventures awaiting you.
The cafeteria buzzed with the cacophony of voices and the clatter of trays as you sat at your usual spot, surrounded by your vibrant friend group. Suyeon, Kazuha, Chaewon, and Yunjin filled the seats around you, creating a lively atmosphere. Some were engrossed in their meals, while others engaged in animated conversations. However, your focus wasn't on the food or the laughter around you.
Absentmindedly poking at your lunch, you felt a weight on your shoulders that seemed to sap away your appetite. Yunjin, sitting across from you, noticed your subdued demeanor and couldn't help but voice her concern. "What's the matter, Y/N?"
You looked up, meeting her gaze. "Nothing, just tired," you replied, hoping to brush off any further probing. Yunjin seemed to sense your reluctance and nodded, deciding not to press the issue further.
As you sank into your thoughts, someone approached your table, breaking the monotony. A familiar face appeared beside you, placing your favorite drink—the one you had noticed was missing from the vending machines—on the table. Bewilderment painted your features as you looked up to find Lee Heeseung, your longtime crush, offering a small, mysterious smile before sauntering off toward his own group of friends.
Your friends, ever vigilant, followed Heeseung's departure with wide-eyed curiosity. Chaewon, who sat beside you, nudged you excitedly. "Y/N, what was that about?"
"I don't know," you replied, mirroring the smile, feeling a sense of warmth spreading within you. You picked up the cold drink, fingers tingling as you held it, the unexpected gesture making your day brighter. The fact that Heeseung knew what you liked sent a wave of giddiness through you, momentarily pushing aside the fatigue.
Intrigued, your friends bombarded you with questions, but you brushed them off, stealing glances at Heeseung across the cafeteria. He was engrossed in conversation with his friends, his laughter echoing through the air. His head tilted back, revealing a sharp jawline that caught your attention. Sipping on your drink, you averted your gaze before he could catch you staring, a mixture of excitement and apprehension lingering within you.
You had known Heeseung since 7th grade, sharing a friendship that drifted apart in high school due to different crowds and classes. This year, luck favored you as you found yourselves in the same linguistics class. Though your interactions were limited to greetings and smiles, the subtle exchanges were enough to brighten your day.
Deep down, you harbored feelings for Heeseung, feelings you kept carefully hidden. Fear of rejection loomed over you, especially witnessing how Heeseung had gently turned down other girls who vied for his attention. His attractiveness was undeniable, and any girl would consider herself fortunate to be his girlfriend. The idea of being that girl felt like an elusive dream—a dream you hesitated to pursue.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, you gathered your belongings and headed to your next class with the girls. The unspoken emotions and untold stories lingered in the air, leaving you to navigate the corridors with a mix of hope and hesitation.
The Monday morning sunlight cast a sleepy glow on the school bus as it idled in front of you, its engine humming in the early hours. You stood, bleary-eyed, at the entrance, leaning against Yunjin for support. She welcomed your tired head on her shoulder, offering a silent comfort that spoke volumes. The bus driver bustled around, loading suitcases into the compartment at the back, while your teacher meticulously took attendance, her voice cutting through the morning air.
"Alright, the students who are here may enter the bus," she announced, prompting a flurry of movement as classmates began to climb the steps. Following Yunjin, you settled into a seat beside Kazuha, your bag finding a temporary home on your lap. As you pulled out your phone, you glanced up just in time to catch Heeseung walking past, a warm smile directed your way. You reciprocated before diverting your attention back to the device in your hands, scrolling through a funny video.
Suddenly, a voice chimed in from behind. "Hey, I've seen that! The person has posted more like that." It was Ni-ki, who had leaned over the back of the seat behind Kazuha, reaching over to swipe through more videos on your phone. Grateful for the entertainment, you thanked him as the bus started its journey.
Throughout the one-hour drive to the airport, you found yourself engrossed in conversation with Ni-ki, oblivious to the fact that someone had been discreetly observing. The bus eventually rolled to a stop at the airport, and you grabbed your suitcase, expressing gratitude to the bus driver before joining your classmates, surrounding your teacher like eager explorers awaiting instructions.
"All right, class, we need to get our boarding passes first, then the bag drop and security. Now, follow me, and don't stray from the group," your teacher instructed. The herd of students followed her, engaging in animated conversations as they moved together like a cohesive unit. To your left, Ni-ki queried, "Do you think the plane will serve food?" You replied, "Probably, although I hope they have blankets."
As the group meandered through the airport, Jay approached Ni-ki, slinging an arm around him and slowing him down, leaving you to walk alone. Shaking it off, you found yourself joined by Heeseung. "Hi," he greeted.
"Hi," you responded, initiating a conversation that flowed effortlessly between you two. Unbeknownst to you, your friends and Heeseung's friends walked behind, observing and commenting on how cute you looked together.
Reaching the check-in queue, Keeho sidled up to you, offering a handful of candies.
Heeseung, who had been walking beside you until Keeho approached. With a subtle yet noticeable shift, Heeseung backed off slightly, a wistful expression crossing his face. There was a hint of sadness in his eyes, coupled with an adorable pout that tugged at your heartstrings. Despite the momentary disappointment, he managed a small, resigned smile before retreating to Jake's side.
Jake, sensing the change in dynamics, looked between Heeseung and you with a knowing smirk. He threw an arm around Heeseung's shoulders, offering a reassuring pat. Heeseung, though he played it off with a casual demeanor, couldn't hide the disappointment that lingered in his eyes.
You bit your lip before looking at Keeho and smiled, taking one and thanking him with a casual "Thanks, Kee." Your friendship with Keeho had blossomed during orientation last year, built on shared interests and humor.
At the front of the bag drop line, you heaved your suitcase onto the conveyor belt, relief washing over you as you saw the weight just below the limit. Passport checked, you waved a brief farewell to your suitcase, then reunited with the class. A chat with Chaeyeong ensued until the entire group gathered, and your teacher guided everyone towards security.
At the security checkpoint, you efficiently placed your belongings in a plastic basket, walked through the metal detector with ease, and retrieved your items on the other side. Zipping up your jacket, you arranged your computer, charger, headphones, and phone back in your bag, slinging it over your shoulder. After a short wait, the class regrouped, and together you navigated towards the gate
The airport gate's waiting area was filled with a buzz of activity as passengers awaited their boarding call. You sat comfortably in a chair, lost in the world of music playing through your headphones, a book in your hands. Beside you, Yunjin worked her nimble fingers through small sections of your hair, braiding them into intricate patterns, humming a soothing tune as she did.
After she finished, you glanced at your friends, each absorbed in their own pre-boarding rituals. Closing your book, you decided to stretch your legs and stood up, prompting Chaewon to join you. The two of you strolled towards the restroom, chatting about trivial things along the way. Once inside, you continued your conversation, enjoying the camaraderie before washing your hands and returning to the waiting area.
A nearby kiosk caught your attention, and you decided to grab a few essentials. Water, gum, and candy found their way into your hands, while Chaewon opted for a vitamin drink and chips. The latter, she graciously shared with everyone as you all chatted, making the most of the time before the boarding announcement.
As the moment arrived, you gathered your belongings and, with your friends in tow, made your way towards the boarding gate. Greetings were exchanged with the flight attendants, and you checked your boarding pass. Navigating through the narrow aisle, you nudged your way to your seat, a content smile on your face as you discovered the coveted window seat.
Plunking down into your chair, you stowed your bag in front of your legs. Pulling out your phone, you slipped the headphones around your neck, scrolling through songs when someone approached and took the seat next to you. You looked to your left, meeting Heeseung's warm smile.
"Looks like we will be seat buddies," he remarked, a friendly tone to his words.
You reciprocated the smile, pulling your headphones off. "Seems like it, yes," you replied, unaware of the subtle exchange that had transpired. Little did you know that you were initially supposed to sit with Sunoo, but Heeseung had managed to secure the spot with one persuasive look, convincing Sunoo to relinquish his seat.
The cabin of the plane was filled with the low hum of engines as passengers settled into their seats, preparing for the journey to Paris. The flight attendant stood at the front, delivering the standard safety instructions. You listened intently, stowing your phone and headphones in your bag as she concluded her demonstration. With a click, you fastened your seatbelt and glanced out the window, watching as the flight attendants moved efficiently through the plane, checking each row.
As the pilot's voice crackled over the intercom, detailing the flight plan and conditions, you took a deep breath. Gripping the handrests, you looked out at the workers on the ground. As the plane taxied on the runway.
"Wanna hold my hand?" Heeseung's voice interrupted your thoughts, and you turned to see him smiling at you, his palm open. Looking at his outstretched hand, you hesitated for a moment before intertwining your fingers with his. His larger hand engulfed yours, offering a comforting reassurance.
As the plane soared into the sky, you relaxed into your seat, the initial thrill subsiding. However, you became aware that you were still holding Heeseung's hand. Glancing up at him, you found him engrossed in the magazines provided by the airline. Deciding to join him, you leaned closer, catching a whiff of his familiar cologne. He noticed your presence, grinned, and continued flipping through the pages.
As the plane cruised through the sky, the fatigue from the early morning began to catch up with you. Your eyelids grew heavy, and you yawned, your body yearning for rest, and slowly, you drifted into sleep, your head drifted down to rest on Heeseung's shoulder. He glanced down at you, a curious expression turning into a soft smile. Without hesitation, he adjusted himself, his head now resting on top of yours.
As the rhythmic hum of the plane continued, Heeseung, let out a soft yawn. The gentle sound of his exhaustion echoed in the small space between you, and before long, his eyelids began to flutter closed. The allure of slumber beckoned, and Heeseung willingly embraced the serene atmosphere, mirroring your peaceful state.
With a contented sigh, Heeseung allowed himself to succumb to the embrace of sleep. His arm wrapped around you, drawing you slightly closer, creating an unintentional yet intimate cuddle. The subtle movements went unnoticed by the rest of the passengers, but your friends, who had been quietly observing, exchanged amused glances.
Yunjin, glancing over from her seat, nudged Chaewon, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "Look at them, all cozy and adorable."
Chaewon stifled a giggle, leaning closer to Yunjin to catch a better view. "They do look cute. Who would have thought?"
Sitting in front of you, Jungwon overheard their hushed conversation and joined in with a sly grin. "Think we should take a picture for the memories?"
Ni-ki, who sat beside Chaewon, chimed in, "They're practically a couple already. Look at that."
Suyeon, overhearing the chatter, leaned in from the aisle seat. "Come on, guys. Let them have their moment. Paris is the city of love, after all."
As the friends whispered and chuckled among themselves, your peaceful slumber continued, blissfully unaware of the playful banter. The hum of the plane engines became a lullaby, and the subtle vibrations created a comforting rhythm. Heeseung, too, allowed himself to fully embrace the serenity, his head nestled atop yours.
Unbeknownst to both of you, your friends seized the adorable moment, capturing pictures of you two sleeping.
Jungwon, sitting in front of you, retrieved a blanket from the flight attendant and carefully draped it over the two of you. You unconsciously snuggled closer, prompting Yunjin to capture another picture. The images portrayed a scene of unexpected intimacy — your thighs touching, Heeseung's arm wrapped around you, and your hands interlocked.
As time passed, you gradually woke up, blinking away the remnants of sleep. Your eyes widened as you realized the position you were in, but any attempt to move was halted by Heeseung's arm around you. Attempting to stifle a gasp, you looked up to find Heeseung's eyes half-open as he yawned, pulling you closer. The moment was brief but left you blushing and flustered.
"Heeseung?" you uttered in surprise, prompting him to groan and pull you even nearer. A futile attempt to wake him.
"Wake up," you insisted, gently nudging him. Heeseung grumbled but finally released his hold, allowing you to shift back to your seat. A subtle warmth lingered, and you couldn't deny the small pang of disappointment.
As Heeseung rubbed his eyes and surveyed the surroundings, you discreetly checked your phone. Opening the group chat with your friends, you were greeted by a flood of messages and pictures documenting the adorable scene during your shared nap. You chewed your lower lip, glancing at Heeseung, who was also immersed in his phone.
Deciding to distract yourself, you retrieved your headphones, plugged them in, and leaned back, gazing out of the windows. The vast expanse of white clouds stretched before you, and as you daydreamed, the rhythmic melody in your ears drowned out the whispers of the cabin, transporting you into a world where time floated in the sky.
The plane glided smoothly through the azure sky, and the anticipation inside the cabin heightened as the city of Paris sprawled beneath, a tapestry of architectural wonders. Excitement bubbled within the passengers, and a collective murmur spread as people rushed to peek out of the windows. You leaned back, creating space for Heeseung to enjoy the breathtaking view. His proximity was comforting, and you felt a gentle warmth as his hand found a resting place on your thigh. Silently, you both marveled at the iconic landmarks unfolding beneath the plane, the Eiffel Tower standing tall amidst the historical landscape.
As the plane descended and touched down, Heeseung's hand had found yours once again. The familiar connection served as a grounding force amidst the hustle and bustle of the landing. The seatbelt sign flickered off, and the cabin echoed with the symphony of people retrieving their belongings. You unfastened your seatbelt, picked up your bag from the floor, and joined the orchestrated movement towards the exit.
Stepping off the plane, the airport welcomed you with its bustling atmosphere. In a comfortable silence, you walked alongside Heeseung, the hum of excitement lingering in the air. The teacher gathered the entire class, a meticulous attendance ritual ensuring no one was left behind in the whirlwind of arrivals. As names were checked off, the group began making its way towards baggage claim.
Amidst the sea of fellow travelers, you noticed Heeseung's friend group and your own huddling together, engaged in animated conversations. The convergence sparked a moment of curiosity, wondering how these seemingly separate circles had intertwined. Yet, in the thrill of the journey, the question remained suspended as you spotted your suitcase, a beacon of familiarity.
Moving towards it, ready to claim your belongings, Heeseung beat you to it. "Here," he said, offering your suitcase with a warm smile. "Thank you," you responded, reciprocating the gesture of gratitude. Rolling your suitcase behind you, you noticed Heeseung had already retrieved his own. Together, in quiet companionship, you navigated through the airport, following the flow of the group.
The air outside the airport carried the crisp promise of adventure as the group of excited students descended from the plane and gathered around a large bus waiting to transport them to their hotel. The vehicle stood tall and imposing, its doors wide open, inviting the group to embark on the next leg of their journey. As you stepped into the bus and found a seat, a familiar voice reached your ears.
"Can I sit here?" Heeseung's warm smile accompanied his question, and you reciprocated with a welcoming gesture. He settled beside you, and the bus set in motion, winding through the streets of Paris. The city's architecture unfolded outside the windows like a visual feast, capturing the attention of everyone on board. Your eyes sparkled with excitement as you admired the intricate details of the buildings, and whenever you turned to share the joy with Heeseung, his gaze would quickly shift away, pretending to be captivated by the passing scenery.
The bus eventually rolled to a stop, signaling the arrival at the hotel. As the group disembarked, you looked up at the building before you – not extravagantly grand, but holding the promise of comfort. However, the true revelation awaited as you stepped into the reception area. The space opened up, revealing a grandeur that surpassed the exterior. The teacher engaged in conversation with the receptionist, and the students grouped together, their voices buzzing with excitement and anticipation.
The teacher's voice rose above the chatter as she outlined the room assignments, emphasizing the gender-oriented distribution. Two cards per room, a precautionary measure against misplacement, were handed out, and the groups were called out one by one. Your group, consisting of Yunjin, Chaewon, Suyeon, and yourself, was designated Room 245. With the key cards in hand, you ascended to the second floor, curiosity building as you approached your temporary abode.
Suyeon, full of enthusiasm, led the way, bounding down the hallway until she found the designated room. "Here! Here!" she exclaimed, and you opened the door just in time for the whole group to peer inside. The room, bathed in a soothing beige hue, greeted you with two beds adorned with bedside tables, two desks for convenience, and a veranda offering a panoramic view of the city below. A plush couch nestled in the corner faced a sleek television, and a door to the right hinted at the presence of a private bathroom.
Chaewon wasted no time in making herself at home, dropping her bag on the couch before gleefully jumping onto one of the beds. Following suit, you laid back on the other bed. However, before you could fully revel in the newfound comfort, Suyeon energetically claimed the space beside you, stretching out with a triumphant grin. Yunjin joined in the laughter, and the group soon found itself drawn to the allure of the bathroom.
Yunjin unzipped her suitcase, extracting her makeup pouch, and disappeared into the bathroom, only to announce a delightful surprise. "Guys! We have a bathtub!" Her excitement echoed through the room, prompting immediate action from the rest of the group. The revelation unfolded as you, Suyeon, and Chaewon hurried into the bathroom, greeted by the sight of a generously sized bathtub.
"Wow!" The collective gasp of awe echoed through the room, sealing the delight of the discovery. The prospect of relaxation in the bathtub added an extra layer of joy to the already thrilling atmosphere, setting the tone for the adventures that lay ahead in the City of Lights.
After changing into fresh clothes and refreshing yourselves, you and your friend group descended from the second floor to the lobby of the hotel. The air was charged with anticipation, the excitement of exploring Paris echoing in the lively chatter of your classmates. Leaning against the wall, you waited patiently as the groups who had been assigned rooms together gradually gathered in the lobby.
Once everyone was assembled, the teacher took charge, her authoritative voice cutting through the buzz of conversation. "Now, class, keep together and don't stray," she directed, and the collective footsteps of the group resonated through the hotel's entrance. The compact size of the class made it easy to keep track of each member, and with the assurance that they were all responsible adults, the teacher led the way out into the bustling streets.
As the group strolled through the lively city, heads turned in every direction, taking in the captivating sights. Their first destination was a museum, and soon, the class found themselves at its entrance. The teacher, with a reminder to reconvene in three hours, set them free to explore the vast expanse of art and history within.
You joined your friend group, your long coat providing a shield against the crisp air. Armed with a pamphlet, you roamed the halls, marveling at the intricate art and statues that adorned the museum. The tall ceilings allowed natural light to filter in, illuminating the marble floor that glittered like a pathway through a castle of culture and creativity.
In one corner, you stopped by a particularly captivating painting named "Infinite Love." The strokes were a dance of perfection and focus, each detail contributing to the overall beauty of the piece. Lost in admiration, you didn't notice the approach of someone until a familiar voice broke through your thoughts.
"You like art?" Heeseung's voice reached your ears, pulling you from your captivation. With a nod, you acknowledged your appreciation. "Look at it," you invited, turning your gaze back to the painting. "Isn't it beautiful?"
"Yes," Heeseung responded, but his gaze wasn't fixed on the artwork. Instead, he looked at you with an enamored expression, a silent admiration that spoke volumes.
The vibrant atmosphere of the museum surrounded you as you turned to look back at Heeseung, only to find his gaze already fixed on you. A curious smile adorned your face, and he responded in kind, his own smile reflecting a subtle warmth. Deciding to take a step, you walked forward, and with a glance over your shoulder, you noticed that Heeseung was now following in your wake.
A giddy excitement fluttered within you as you realized he was interested in where you were headed. While your friends and his friends congregated ahead, walking as a unified group, you and Heeseung found yourselves a little behind, creating a bubble of intimacy within the bustling museum.
As the group halted in front of a staircase, discussing their preferences for the next exhibit, suggestions floated in the air. Sunoo and Yunjin expressed their desire to see more statues, prompting a brief consensus. When it was your turn, you shared your preference, inspired by the research you had done during the bus ride.
"I want to see 'The Kiss by the Hotel de Ville' photography," you chimed in, catching everyone's attention. Jungwon, the de facto planner, quickly designated a meeting point in an hour, instructing everyone to keep their phones on for coordination. You nodded in agreement, and as the group dispersed to explore their chosen sections, you and Heeseung headed toward the photography exhibit.
Surprised and delighted, you noticed that he was still walking beside you, his presence a comforting closeness. Heeseung grinned, expressing his own interest in the photography. "I also want to see the photography. It looks enchanting from pictures; it must be even more magical in person," he shared, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
You smiled in agreement, and the two of you continued your journey through the museum. The proximity of your hands occasionally resulted in fleeting touches, heightening the awareness of the shared space between you. As you reached the designated section, excitement bubbled within you, and unable to contain it, you started to sprint ahead. "It's here! It's here!" you exclaimed with enthusiasm.
As you arrived at the display, Heeseung caught up, and together, you both marveled at the captivating photography. A gasp escaped your lips as you took in the scene – a man holding a woman in an intimate embrace, their eyes closed, surrounded by a blurred crowd. The photograph captured a moment frozen in time, a kiss that seemed to transcend centuries, exuding heartfelt romance.
Heeseung, now at your side, opened his mouth slightly, studying the photo with a thoughtful expression. It was clear that the image had captivated him as well. Glancing at you from the corner of his eyes, he couldn't help but smile at the genuine amazement reflected in your expression.
The museum's corridors echoed with the hum of curiosity and excitement as you and Heeseung delved deeper into the exhibits. The intricate art and historical artifacts were fascinating, but what captivated you the most was the easy banter and connection you shared with Heeseung.
As you reunited with your friends, the initial separation seemed to dissolve as you found yourself unintentionally gravitating toward Heeseung. Similarly, he sought you out amid the sea of faces, creating an amusing pattern that didn't go unnoticed by your friend groups. Giggles and knowing looks exchanged between them hinted at the brewing connection that transcended mere friendship.
Reuniting with the class brought a different dynamic. The other girls in the class observed the closeness you and Heeseung. Their glares of jealousy and thinly veiled resentment became more apparent as the day unfolded. The subtle possessiveness they felt over Heeseung clashed with the unintentional chemistry you shared with him.
As the class exited the museum and strolled toward the restaurant for dinner, the group naturally formed clusters. You found yourself walking alongside Heeseung once again, conversations flowing seamlessly between the two of you. The jealous glances intensified, and you couldn't help but feel discomfort.
Upon reaching the restaurant, the entryway's limited space prompted a slight separation between you and Heeseung. The class filed in, and when you finally settled into your seats, you noticed that Keeho had plopped down beside you. His infectious energy and playful banter were a welcome distraction, and you couldn't help but smile.
However, Heeseung's discontent was apparent. He wanted to sit with you, but circumstances dictated otherwise. His teacher requested him to sit a bit away from you on the other side of the long table. Seizing the opportunity, Kyeungmin, one of the girls who had glared at you earlier, took the seat beside him. And you couldn't help but notice how Heeseung's attention seemed divided.
As menus were distributed, you casually swiped through and decided on a simple pasta dish. The class engaged in small talk, and you and Keeho slipped into your usual banter, goofing around and exchanging lighthearted jokes. Laughter enveloped your small corner of the table, momentarily pushing aside the tension caused by lingering glances.
From the corner of your eye, you glimpsed Kyeungmin trying to strike up a conversation with Heeseung. His polite responses were apparent, and you couldn't help but huff in response. Keeho, sensing your mood, made a funny gesture, coaxing a giggle from you. The tight feeling in your chest subsided as Keeho continued to keep you company, offering a distraction from the unspoken tension lingering at the table.
Dinner arrived, and the restaurant's cozy ambiance embraced the class. Plates were filled with delicious dishes, and the air was filled with the hum of chatter and laughter. However, as you continued your meal, the dynamic at the table shifted.
Your attention was drawn to Kyeungmin, who was now openly flirting with Heeseung. His polite responses seemed to encourage her advances, and the subtle tension that had lingered before now escalated. Uncomfortable, you excused yourself from the table, claiming a sudden loss of appetite.
Your friends exchanged worried glances as you quickly paid for your meal and left the restaurant, not noticing the concerned expressions that followed you. Heeseung's gaze lingered on your retreating figure, torn between the awkward situation at the table and his desire to follow you.
With a final glance at Kyeungmin, he excused himself from the table, much to the concern of your teacher and everyone else.
The brisk Parisian night air swept through the streets as you ambled along the cobblestone paths, the city lights casting a soft glow on the charming architecture. Your footsteps echoed against the historic buildings, creating a rhythmic melody as you navigated the unfamiliar streets.
Suddenly, amidst the tranquility of the night, the cadence of footsteps emerged from behind you. You turned to find Heeseung catching up, his breath slightly labored from what seemed like a brisk jog. "Oh, hey," you greeted, a friendly smile curving your lips.
As Heeseung caught his breath, concern etched on his features, he questioned, "Why did you leave?" You shrugged nonchalantly, "I just wasn't hungry." He observed you for a moment, his eyes searching for a deeper truth. "You sure? You didn't look so good in there," he remarked. A subtle nod was your only response, and the two of you fell into a comfortable silence.
The journey back to the hotel unfolded with Heeseung once again in tow, the quietude occasionally interrupted by the distant sounds of the city at night. When you reached the hotel lobby, you exchanged a brief "good night" before parting ways at the elevators. As the doors closed behind him, you sighed in relief.
Back in your hotel room, you found solace in the familiar routine of unwinding. You pulled out your favorite pair of pajamas, their soft fabric offering comfort after a day of adventures. A shower followed, the warm water soothing both body and mind, and you towel-dried your hair with practiced ease.
With the TV remote in hand, you perched on the couch, hoping to find some distraction in the channels of a foreign language. The soft hum of French voices surrounded you, adding a touch of ambiance to the room. Despite your efforts, boredom prevailed, prompting you to power off the TV and surrender to the glow of your phone screen.
An hour later, the entrance door creaked open, and your friends spilled into the room, concern etched on their faces. Their collective worry washed over you as they circled around, bombarding you with questions. "What happened, Y/N?" "Are you okay?" Their care and friendship were evident, and you reassured them that it was simply a lack of appetite, likely due to the notorious jetlag.
Chaewon, ever the thoughtful one, produced a shopping bag filled with snacks and drinks, a gesture that warmed your heart. "We went to the grocery store after dinner, just in case you were hungry," she explained. Gratitude mingled with exhaustion as you accepted their offerings.
The night continued with the familiar routine of shower rotations, the shared laughter in the dimly lit room, and the joyous chaos of friends enjoying each other's company. The beds were pushed together, the lights dimmed, and beneath the shared blanket, a symphony of laughter and banter echoed, creating a harmonious lullaby that eventually led everyone into the comforting embrace of sleep.
Under the soft glow of the hotel room's dimmed lights, the air was filled with hushed whispers and giggles as you and the girls nestled together under the blanket. The makeshift fort created a cocoon of warmth, where secrets were shared, and laughter flowed freely. The hours passed in a blur as the conversation meandered through various topics, from school antics to crushes and dreams.
As midnight approached, the air in the room grew heavier with drowsiness. One by one, the girls began to yawn, a chain reaction of sleepy expressions spreading across the room. The shared secrets and laughter turned into comfortable silence as eyelids grew heavy, and the pull of sleep became irresistible.
The two separate beds, now pushed together to form a larger sleeping space, transformed into a cozy haven for the slumbering group. You found yourself nestled between Chaewon on your left and Kazuha on your right, the warmth and soft breathing of your friends creating a soothing symphony.
In the quiet moments before sleep claimed you, your thoughts drifted to Heeseung. The night sky outside the window held a canvas of stars, but your mind was lost in the constellation of memories and emotions surrounding him. You pondered if he was already asleep, miles away on another floor, separated by walls and dreams. Closing your eyes, you allowed the rhythmic breathing of your friends and the gentle hum of the city outside to lull you into a peaceful slumber.
Meanwhile, on the floor above, Heeseung laid in the cozy room, bathed in the soft glow of the bedside lamp. Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki were already lost in the embrace of dreams, leaving Heeseung alone with his thoughts. His mind, however, was only occupied by one person – you. Heeseung had carried a silent crush since childhood, a secret he guarded well. The trip, in his eyes, was an opportunity to reconnect and, perhaps, confess his feelings.
His gaze fixated on the ceiling, Heeseung's mind replayed the moments shared with you throughout the day. Admiration painted his features, and a soft smile lingered on his lips. He wrestled with the words he wished to express, contemplating whether the risk was worth it.
Eventually, fatigue claimed Heeseung, and he shifted into a more comfortable position. Closing his eyes, he allowed the thoughts of you to linger a moment longer before succumbing to the gentle pull of sleep, dreams of a shared future with you dancing in the depths of his consciousness.
The morning sun cast a warm glow over the picturesque streets of Paris as you and your classmates embarked on another day of exploration. The city's rich history unfolded before you as you visited iconic landmarks, strolled along cobblestone streets, and marveled at architectural wonders.
The anticipation of a day filled with new experiences was palpable, but a subtle tension lingered in the air, a result of the unspoken dynamics among your group. Kyeungmin's persistent proximity to Heeseung created an invisible barrier, leaving you on the outside looking in.
As the class gathered at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, you couldn't help but notice how Kyeungmin effortlessly attached herself to Heeseung's arm. Her laughter, once a distant echo, now felt like a constant background noise, drowning out the potential moments you could have shared with Heeseung. Your attempts to engage in conversations with him were met with distracted smiles, his attention seemingly held captive by Kyeungmin's animated stories.
The iconic structure of the Eiffel Tower stretched above you, but the gap between you and Heeseung widened with every passing moment. Kyeungmin, with an almost possessive air, clung to Heeseung as if they were more than just friends. A sense of frustration settled within you, an unspoken ache that grew with each shared glance and whispered exchange.
Throughout the day, the class moved from the Louvre to Notre-Dame, with Kyeungmin and Heeseung seemingly inseparable. The historic beauty of each location became a backdrop to a different narrative, one where you found yourself playing a peripheral role.
As you walked through the narrow streets of Montmartre, the lively atmosphere couldn't dispel the growing unease within you. The sight of Kyeungmin and Heeseung sharing smiles and secret glances fueled a sense of isolation, pushing you to the outskirts of the group.
Lunch at a charming French café offered a momentary reprieve, but even there, Kyeungmin managed to position herself close to Heeseung, monopolizing his attention. The distant hum of laughter from your friends became a melody of missed opportunities and fading connections.
By the time you reached the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, the emotional weight of the day bore down on you. The panoramic view of Paris, which should have been a shared moment of awe, felt like a solitary experience. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the city, you couldn't shake the feeling that something precious was slipping away.
The group gathered for dinner at a quaint French bistro, and the sense of isolation persisted. Even amidst the lively chatter, you found yourself yearning for a connection that seemed increasingly elusive. As the night fell, Paris sparkled around you, but the radiance of the city only deepened the shadows within.
Unbeknownst to you, Heeseung's eyes occasionally sought yours, a fleeting expression of regret and longing. His attempts to engage in meaningful conversation were subtly thwarted by Kyeungmin's interjections, and the distance between you and Heeseung grew with every unspoken word.
The hotel room hummed with an air of excitement, a symphony of hairdryers, laughter, and the clinking of makeup palettes as your group of friends prepared for an enchanting evening at the opera house. The two hours before the event were a frenzy of primping and preening, the anticipation palpable in the room.
Positioned in front of the bathroom mirror, you found yourself surrounded by a whirlwind of activity. Chaewon, Kazuha, Yunjin, and Suyeon, all busied themselves with their respective beauty routines. Each one of you had a unique style, and the room was alive with chatter and laughter.
Opting for a look that echoed simplicity and elegance, you chose a subtle makeup palette that accentuated your features without being too bold. As you applied the finishing touches, your long black dress, carefully selected for the occasion, hung gracefully in the backdrop. The dress was a masterpiece in itself – backless, with straps securing the top and knotting at the lower part of your back. The V-neckline cascaded down your chest, revealing the delicate curve of your collarbones. The fabric felt soft against your skin, akin to the gentle touch of silk. It gracefully trailed along the ground, with a daring slit running up the side, exposing your left leg. To balance the allure, you adorned sheer, laced black thigh-high socks, adding a touch of mystery and sophistication.
Amidst the shared space, playful banter filled the air. Kazuha's complaint about an elbow poking her side was met with Chaewon's defense of perfect mascara application.
Completing your makeup, you turned your attention to your hair, combing through it and letting the strands fall gracefully. A delicate necklace adorned your neck, and you added accessories to complement the ensemble. Stepping out of the bathroom, you couldn't help but smile at your reflection – you looked classy, elegant, and undeniably stunning.
With your essentials packed into a simple black purse embellished with silver flowers, you clasped on your black heels, each step echoing the anticipation of the night. A long black faux fur coat completed the ensemble, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication. As you stood before the mirror, you marveled at the transformation – a vision of timeless beauty.
Turning to your friends, you witnessed the culmination of their efforts. Each emerged from the bathroom wearing their chosen dresses, heels, and adorned with their preferred accessories.
The anticipation of the evening buzzed through the hotel lobby as you and your friends descended from your rooms, the atmosphere crackling with excitement and glamour. In your elegant ensemble, you felt a surge of confidence, accentuated by the whispers of silk and lace against your skin.
As you reached the lobby, some of your classmates had already gathered, creating a captivating tableau of refined fashion and anticipation. Your group gravitated towards Jungwon, Jay, Sunoo, and Sunghoon, who stood like modern-day gentlemen in impeccably tailored suits, their hair neatly combed, exuding a magnetic charm that only enhanced their natural charisma. A collective hum of admiration rippled through your group as you exchanged smiles and compliments.
The chatter among your friends continued, a lively exchange of laughter and conversation, punctuated by Yunjin's question that hung in the air, "When are the others coming?" The answer came swiftly, a blend of nonchalance and excitement from Sunghoon, "Soon." But before the conversation could delve deeper, Sunoo interjected with an exuberant proclamation, "Oh, there they are."
Your attention turned, as Jake and Ni-ki descended the staircase, both impeccably dressed in suits that showcased a timeless sense of style. And behind them, a figure emerged that caused your heart to skip a beat. Heeseung, the epitome of sophistication, stepped into view, and time seemed to slow.
Heeseung wore an ensemble that left an indelible impression. Black dress shoes added a polished touch to his attire, paired with sleek black slacks. A crisp white undershirt provided a canvas for a perfectly knotted black tie, and a black dress jacket adorned his broad shoulders. A thick coat draped over his form, adding an extra layer of elegance. His jet-black hair, artfully swept back, framed a face that embodied the essence of allure.
Your eyes met, and a charged silence enveloped the lobby. Heeseung's gaze roamed appreciatively from the tips of your heels to the gracefulness of your face. A soft, almost reverent "wow" escaped his lips, echoing the sentiment in the air. A chorus of playful snickers from your friends pulled you both back to the moment.
"You look good," you managed to say, a hint of nervousness in your voice. Heeseung, regaining his composure, responded with a genuine compliment, "Yeah, you do too."
The class gathered, a blend of eager anticipation and a shared desire to make the most of the night. The teacher, a beacon of authority, rallied everyone, "Alright class. Looks like everyone is here. Let's go. We gotta be at Palais Garnier in an hour." With that, the entourage began its procession toward the opera house, a parade of heels and shoes against the Parisian pavement, a harmonious prelude to an unforgettable evening.
Heeseungs POV:
The anticipation for the evening's rendezvous at Palais Garnier electrified the air as Heeseung, Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki prepared in their hotel room. The room buzzed with the clinks of ties being adjusted, the subtle spray of cologne, and the rustle of dress shirts. Heeseung, sharing the space with his friends, felt the thrill of the evening ahead.
His excitement, however, was twinged with a hint of regret. Kyeungmin's constant presence had subtly distanced him from the opportunity to connect with you. He had hoped to explore the enchanting streets of Paris in your company, creating shared memories amidst the city's timeless charm. Yet, the distraction had impeded those plans, leaving a trace of melancholy in Heeseung's heart.
As he meticulously dressed in a tailored black suit, Heeseung couldn't help but wonder about your own preparations. The thought of seeing you in the midst of Parisian allure heightened his anticipation. He imagined the dress you might wear, the way you'd style your hair, and the grace with which you'd carry yourself. Paris held the promise of a magical night, and he wanted to share it with you.
The allure of Paris, however, took a backseat when he saw you in that breathtaking ensemble. The black dress clung to your figure, and Heeseung's eyes travelled over your outfit. His breath hitched at the sight. The silver accessories and heels added a touch of sophistication, but it was the long black faux fur coat that completed the ensemble, giving you an air of timeless elegance. Heeseung's heartbeat quickened as he caught a glimpse of the lace thigh highs from the sliver of the open coat. The sheer allure of your appearance stirred an undeniable longing within him.
For a fleeting moment, the desire to sweep you off your feet and take you back to his hotel room overwhelmed his thoughts. He wanted to admire you in the quiet intimacy of their space, away from prying eyes. He wanted to be the only one who could revel in your beauty.
The spell broke when the playful snickers of their friends reached his ears. Heeseung, still caught in the reverie of your allure, groaned inwardly. The world might appreciate your beauty tonight, but in his heart, Heeseung wanted you for himself. Even when you wore heels that brought you closer to his height, he still towered over you. The realization that you were beautiful beyond measure fueled a silent determination within him.
As they set out for the opera house, the backdrop of the pavement became the stage for a night that held promises of enchantment, and in the bustling rhythm of the city, Heeseung silently vowed to make this evening unforgettable, aspiring for moments when it would be just the two of you, lost in the allure of Paris.
The grandeur of the opera house unfolded before your eyes as you entered the magnificent building. The glow of lights illuminated the night sky, casting an ethereal aura around the structure. The gasps of awe echoed in the air as everyone marveled at the grand interior that lay before them. A set of grand staircases adorned the entrance, gracefully ascending and splitting into two sections leading to the second floor. The people milling around were dressed in suits and beautiful dresses, creating an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a fairy tale castle.
The interior, a spectacle of opulence, boasted mosaic and marble adorned with golden tones, creating a visual symphony that resonated with luxury. The sheer scale of the architecture left everyone breathless, transporting them to a realm of sophistication and elegance.
"Okay, the show starts in an hour! So make sure you all are in your seats! Here are your tickets," your teacher announced, distributing tickets from a folder. As you received yours and tucked it into your purse, Yunjin grabbed your arm, exclaiming, "Come on, Y/n! We gotta go exploring!" Following her lead, you joined Kazuha, Chaewon, and Suyeon. The harmonious clicking of your heels on the marble floor echoed through the air as you ascended the grand staircase and veered right when the stairs split.
Looking back, you noticed the guys following, albeit at a slower pace. Kyeungmin had predictably attached herself to Heeseung, hanging off his arm. Suppressing a huff of annoyance, you shifted your attention as Chaewon gasped loudly. Following her gaze, you understood the collective awe that swept through the group. The hallway stretched majestically, adorned with bust statues and crowned by chandeliers that hung gracefully from the ceiling.
"Guys, look up," Yunjin exclaimed, directing your attention to the ceiling. All gazes lifted as the guys caught up, and a collective gasp escaped your lips. The ceiling itself was a masterpiece, an intricate painting that held the essence of timeless beauty. Tears welled in your eyes, prompting you to wipe them away carefully, not wanting to disturb your makeup.
"That is amazing," Jay marveled, his sentiment echoed by the rest of the group. As you continued to admire the breathtaking ceiling and capture the moment with pictures, you failed to notice Heeseung breaking away from Kyeungmin. His gaze was drawn upward as well, and then it shifted to you. The admiration in his eyes spoke volumes as he took in the sight of not just the artwork above but also the beauty standing before him.
The opulent opera house buzzed with an air of sophistication, its corridors adorned with the elegance of centuries past. The rich tapestry of architecture held you captive, and you decided to savor every detail before joining your friends inside the theater. Lost in your admiration, you rounded a corner and, absorbed in your thoughts, collided with a handsome stranger.
"Oh, I'm sorry," you apologized, your gaze lifting to meet the man's. His eyes sparkled with a playful charm as he reassured you, "It's okay; I wasn't looking."
"Foreigner, huh?" he remarked with a teasing smile seeing you, and you nodded. "Yes, is it noticeable?" you inquired, curious about his perception.
His laughter echoed through the corridor as he replied, "Very." Leaning down gracefully, he took your hand and pressed a gentle kiss to the back of it. "My name is Gabriel," he introduced himself, but you withdrew your hand, a subtle discomfort settling in.
"Nice to meet you," you responded, keeping a polite distance. "Y/n? A beautiful name fit for a beautiful woman," he complimented, and you thanked him, still feeling uneasy. Sensing the awkward tension, he asked, "Say, are you alone?"
Before you could respond, a protective arm encircled your waist from behind, and you looked up to find Heeseung standing there. He glared at Gabriel, his hand holding you close. "And who are you?" Gabriel inquired, seemingly unfazed.
"I'm her boyfriend," Heeseung declared, his jaw visibly clenched, his grip on you both tight and protective. Gabriel, unrelenting, challenged, "Boyfriend, huh? Prove it then. Kiss."
“Gladly,” Before you could react, Heeseung pulled you toward him, his hand gently gripping your jaw as he initiated a kiss. You gasped, but your hands instinctively found their way around his neck, pulling him closer. The kiss deepened, and the intensity of the moment spoke louder than any words.
The grandeur of the opera house faded into the background as Heeseung and you remained locked in a moment of shared desire. After Gabriel disappeared, leaving you both momentarily breathless, the lingering tension between you and Heeseung refused to subside. "Fuck," Heeseung whispered, his gaze piercing through yours, a profound intensity underscoring his words.
Unable to resist the magnetic pull, your lips met again. Heeseung's urgency backed you against the wall, the cool marble contrasting with the heat of the kiss. His hand traced the contour of your leg, following the slit of your dress. You allowed him to lift your leg, wrapping it around his waist as the passion between you deepened.
His thumb danced underneath the lace thigh-high, a teasing revelation of more skin. The exploration continued as his other hand ventured under your coat, caressing the bare skin on your back. Heeseung groaned, the realization of the dress's backless design intensifying his desire.
With one hand gripping the nape of his neck and the other resting on his chest, you reveled in the electrifying connection. Heeseung hummed, kissing down from your jaw to your neck and collarbones. Soft murmurs of his name escaped your lips, your fingers finding solace in the strands of his hair.
As Heeseung pulled back, his lips stained with your lipstick, you met his gaze, both of you sharing an unspoken understanding. "Yes?" he whispered, his voice laden with a mix of desire and wonder. Your response was a simple hum as you pulled him back into another fervent kiss, by his black tie.
"Fuck. Oh, my God," Heeseung breathlessly muttered between kisses as you indulged in the heated exchange. The passion reached its peak, an intoxicating blend of longing and urgency.
The constant pinging of your phone pulled you back to reality, and you both reluctantly detached. Gasping for air, you retrieved your phone, realizing Yunjin's urgent messages about the impending show. "Oh, shit! It's starting!" you exclaimed, rushing to the main area, clutching your purse and phone. Heeseung followed closely behind.
Entering the dimly lit theater, you settled into your seat next to Chaewon and Yunjin. "There you are," Yunjin whispered, and you breathlessly replied, "Yeah... here I am." As you discreetly observed Heeseung taking his place beside Ni-ki and Jake, your heart still raced from the forbidden rendezvous. In the darkness, his silhouette hinted at the storm of emotions that mirrored your own. As the ballerinas graced the stage, you slipped off your coat, focusing on the show while secretly relishing the knowledge of how Heeseung's gaze lingered on the exposed skin your dress revealed. The night had taken an unexpected turn, and the echo of the clandestine encounter lingered, promising a symphony of emotions yet to unfold.
Heeseungs POV:
Heeseung couldn't bear to watch from afar as Gabriel engaged in conversation with you. As Gabriel introduced himself, Heeseung's gaze remained fixed on him, a silent warning beneath the surface. When Gabriel bent down to kiss the back of your hand, Heeseung felt an undeniable flare of irritation. Yet, as you pulled away, seemingly uncomfortable, Heeseung couldn't resist the opportunity to assert himself, and without a second thought, he closed the distance between you and him, slipping his hand around your waist possessively. The protective hold was both instinctual and intentional, an unspoken claim against any potential threat.  "She's with me, actually," he declared, his jaw clenched with a hint of possessiveness. "And who are you?" Gabriel inquired, seemingly unfazed. "I'm her boyfriend," Heeseung stated, the grip around your waist tightening subtly. Oh how he wished that was the truth.
The challenge escalated as Gabriel demanded a kiss for proof. Heeseung didn't hesitate, pulling you toward him and gripping your jaw gently. The world blurred as their lips met, a whirlwind of sensation as he tasted the undeniable chemistry that had always lingered between you. The intensity was undeniable, fueled by the untamed desire that had simmered beneath the surface for far too long.
The kiss was a revelation, igniting a spark that Heeseung had desperately longed to unleash. Your hands wound around his neck, pulling him closer, and the kiss deepened, both fervent and hungry. It was an intoxicating dance, a symphony of passion that resonated with each stolen breath.
The world around him vanished as the connection deepened. Heeseung was intoxicated by the taste of your lips, the warmth of your body pressed against his. His hand traced the contours of your leg, accentuated by the slit in your dress, as he reveled in the sensations that consumed him.
Underneath the lace thigh-high, his thumb traced the delicate patterns, reveling in the intimacy. The allure of your backless dress heightened the desire coursing through him, leaving him yearning for more.
Heeseung marveled at the feeling of your skin against his, the warmth of your embrace setting his senses ablaze. Every touch, every movement was a testament to the magnetic pull that drew him to you. In that stolen moment, he felt a willingness to go to any length to be close to you, to be the one who claimed your attention above all else.
When he pulled back, the realization of the public setting hit him. "Fuck," he muttered, his thoughts racing. The temptation to continue was strong, an almost obsessive desire to explore every inch of you. His mind flashed with vivid images of getting on his knees for you, a testament to the intensity of his longing. The bad timing gnawed at him, an unwanted interruption that disrupted the stolen moments he had yearned for. As you hurried back to the theater, he followed closely, the echoes of your heels against the marble floor a rhythm to his internal turmoil.
Entering the dimly lit theater, Heeseung settled into his seat, trying to compose himself. Yet, the performance on the stage became a mere backdrop to the real spectacle – you, seated just two rows in front of him, looking resplendent in the elegant dress. Every movement, every glimpse. Heeseung struggled to tear his gaze away from the masterpiece that was you.
When the grandeur of the opera had come to an end, and the group returned to the hotel, the echoes of applause and the memory of the exquisite performance lingering in the air. Yet, despite the enchanting atmosphere, a cloud of tension veiled Heeseung's demeanor. As they entered the hotel lobby, he instinctively sought out your presence, only to find you conspicuously absent.
His displeasure was evident as he scanned the surroundings, a subtle frown etching across his features. The realization hit him like a jolt – you were purposefully avoiding him. The nagging question echoed in his mind -"Why?"
Kyeungmin's lingering presence further soured his mood. He groaned inwardly, grappling with a mix of frustration and yearning. He begrudgingly made his way to his hotel room, accompanied by Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki, who were blissfully unaware of the tumult within him.
As they entered the room, Jake's concerned inquiry sliced through the silence, "Why are you so down?" Heeseung collapsed on the bed, shielding his eyes from prying gazes. "Nothing, just tired," he replied, a nonchalant facade masking the turmoil beneath.
Jake persisted, his tone hinting at a deeper understanding, "You sure?" Heeseung's response carried a finality that conveyed the end of the discussion. "Yes." The room fell into a momentary lull, interrupted only by the background squabble between Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki over shower usage.
Amidst the trivial distractions, Heeseung's mind was elsewhere. The recollection of your sudden avoidance and the lingering memory of the hallway kiss played vividly in his thoughts. A blush adorned his cheeks, a silent testament to the impact it had left on him.
Fortunately, his friends remained oblivious to his inner turmoil, too engrossed in their own activities. But Heeseung's focus was singular – he needed to see you, to unravel the mystery behind your avoidance, and perhaps, to confess the feelings that had lingered for far too long. The desire to be alone with you, to strip away the barriers and lay bare his heart, was the driving force behind the cloud of tension that enveloped him.
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a serene glow over the city that never slept. Within the confines of your hotel room, the gentle snores of your friends provided a rhythmic lull, but your restless mind resisted the embrace of slumber. Frustration welled within you, and a spontaneous decision emerged – a solitary walk through the quiet streets to clear the storm brewing in your thoughts.
With stealthy steps, you slipped out of bed, clad in pyjama pants and a jacket to ward off the night chill. The window creaked open, and you descended the fire escape, navigating the quiet stairwell until your feet met the damp pavement below. The night air was cool, caressing your face as you walked, the city lights casting long shadows on the streets.
As you strolled, a familiar sensation graced your skin – raindrops, gentle at first, then gradually intensifying. Seeking refuge, you found shelter beneath the awning of a closed establishment. The rhythmic patter of rain provided a soothing backdrop to your contemplation, lost in the dance of droplets.
However, the tranquility shattered when a voice called out your name, piercing through the rain-laden air. "Y/N!" The voice belonged to Heeseung, running towards you with a jacket and an umbrella in hand. Panic seized you, and instinctively, you turned and sprinted away, leaving the echoes of his desperate calls behind.
Ignoring the soaked clothes and the disapproving glances from strangers, you ran until exhaustion halted your escape. Breathless, you halted, and stood beneath the rain, wiping away the tears mingling with the droplets on your cheeks, feeling the burn in your lungs. It was then that Heeseung caught up, his presence casting a shadow over your moment of solitude.
"Please... Y/N, why are you running from me?" Breathless, he asked, Gasping, you admitted, "I don't know."
Heeseung pleaded, "Please, don't ignore me," as he drew near. Frustrated, you snapped, "Just run back to Kyeungmin! Why care for me?" Heeseung retaliated, "Because I do! I care for you, not Kyeungmin!"
"Why should you?" you shot back. Heeseung's frustration reached its peak, prompting him to question, "Why wouldn't i!?" You retorted with, "Because I'm not your girlfriend! We aren't even friends!"
His reply was unexpected and heartfelt: "Then be my girlfriend." The words lingered in the air, leaving you wide-eyed. Heeseung approached, his hand winding around your waist. "Y/N, I've been in love with you for years. I love you so much it hurts. I'm sorry it's taken so long to admit it. I was scared of what you would say or think. But now, I don't care. So please..." Heeseung confessed, sinking to one knee and looking up at you, his eyes brimming with hope. "Please be my girlfriend."
Overwhelmed by the unexpected revelation, tears welled in your eyes. Heeseung's confession echoed your long-unspoken sentiments. In a burst of emotion, you threw yourself at him, causing him to stumble and sit on the pavement as your lips collided in a fervent kiss. Amidst the rain-soaked embrace, you joyously exclaimed, "Yes!"
The downpour intensified, but neither of you cared. Heeseung held you close, hugging you as the realization of reciprocated feelings sank in. The rain painted an ethereal backdrop, as Heeseung stood up from the rain-drenched pavement, his arms strong and sure as he lifted you effortlessly by your thighs. A gasp escaped your lips, the sensation of being lifted off the ground, coupled with the joyous confession, creating a moment that transcended the ordinary. Heeseung's admission of happiness painted a grin across his face, his wet hair clinging to his forehead. "I'm so happy," he confessed, his voice carrying the weight of years of unspoken feelings.
"Me too," you responded, your voice mirroring the elation that danced between you. Heeseung gently set you down, and with a shared understanding, you decided to make your way back to the hotel.
Climbing the fire escape to Heeseung's room added a touch of secrecy to the night, the quiet ascension a shared secret between the two of you. The sleeping figures of Sunghoon, Niki, and Jake lay undisturbed, granting a moment of privacy as you entered the room.
"Are you sure it's okay to be here?" you inquired, casting a glance at the peacefully slumbering friends. "Yeah, they won't wake up so easily. The bathroom is there. Take a shower," Heeseung assured, a sense of familiarity and comfort emanating from the dimly lit room. You nodded in acknowledgment, entering the bathroom and letting the warm water wash away the remnants of the night's escapades.
A gentle knock on the door punctuated the moment. "Y/N?" Heeseung's voice reached you. "I brought some clothes for you; it ain't much bu–" His words trailed off as you swung open the door, facing him with just a towel draped around you. "Thank you!" you chimed, accepting the clothes with a playful grin. The blush that adorned Heeseung's face was a testament to the lingering excitement of the night. Closing the door behind you, you changed into Heeseung's clothes, the oversized sweatpants cinched tightly and the T-shirt hanging loosely. Grateful that your bra had remained dry beneath your jacket, you couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and belonging in Heeseung's borrowed attire.
The warmth of the shower had dissipated, leaving you refreshed and wrapped in Heeseung's oversized clothes. Stepping out of the bathroom, the soft glow from the muted lights revealed Heeseung leaning casually against the wall. His eyes widened appreciatively as they traced the contours of you adorned in his clothes, a hint of a playful smirk playing on his lips.
"Your turn, loverboy," you teased, deftly dodging his attempts to pull you into his embrace. "Shower before you catch a cold," you added, a mischievous glint in your eyes as Heeseung groaned playfully. Yielding to your suggestion, he entered the bathroom, and soon after, the soothing sound of running water enveloped the room.
Seated on the couch, you took in the ambient sounds of raindrops tapping against the window, a serene backdrop to the events that had transpired. The room was dimly lit, the other occupants still lost in the embrace of dreams, oblivious to the shared moment unfolding.
Heeseung emerged from the bathroom, clad in dry clothes, his smile radiant as he approached you. Settling beside you on the couch, he couldn't help but express his disbelief, "I can't believe you're finally my girlfriend..."
"And I can't believe you're my boyfriend," you replied, sharing a smile as he wrapped his arms around you. Nestling against his warmth, you felt his fingers play gently with your damp hair. His embrace offered a sense of security, and as the fatigue from the night's adventures caught up with you, a soft yawn escaped your lips.
Heeseung, attuned to your signals, heard the yawn and observed as your body gradually surrendered to the embrace of sleep. With careful tenderness, he stretched out on the couch, arranging you over his chest to ensure your comfort. Time seemed to blur as he lay there, the only sound in the room being the gentle snores from you, Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki.
Shaking his head in contentment, Heeseung allowed himself to succumb to the pull of slumber. With you nestled against him, he drifted into a peaceful sleep, the quietude of the room punctuated only by the rhythmic lullabies of rain and shared dreams.
The morning light streamed gently into the room as you stirred awake, finding yourself nestled against Heeseung's warmth. A yawn escaped your lips, followed by a soft hum as you admired his serene sleeping face. His peaceful features, the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest, the occasional twitches—all combined to paint a picture that made your heart swell with affection.
"Hee?" you whispered, leaning in to kiss the curve of his mouth. With each tender peck, you continued, "Heeseung?" His arms tightened around your waist in response, and a contented smile graced his lips as he blinked open his eyes. "What a way to wake up," he groggily murmured in his deep morning voice, eliciting a giggle from you. "Morning, baby," he said, returning your affectionate kisses.
"Morning," you replied with a smile. A brief moment of silence lingered, and then you announced, "I need to go back to my room." Heeseung playfully whined, pulling you closer. "Stay." His plea was accompanied by a hopeful expression. "Heeseung, I have to go. You'll see me at breakfast," you assured. "Promise?" he asked. "Promise," you replied. "Okay," he conceded, reluctantly letting you go. You grabbed your clothes from yesterday, opened the window to the fire escape, and climbed down to your room where your friends were still in the embrace of slumber.
With a hum, you gathered your wet clothes in a bag and selected new ones for the day. After your morning routine, you changed into ripped jeans and a comfy hoodie. Stepping out of the bathroom, you greeted the waking girls with a cheerful, "Morning, guys!" As they stirred, you brushed your hair and waited for them to get ready. Once everyone was set, you headed down to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast.
You filled your plate and settled down beside Chaewon and Kazuha, enjoying the morning feast. When you stood up to refill your juice, you spotted the guys entering the restaurant. Heeseung's eyes lit up when he saw you, and he grinned, pulling you into a sweet kiss by your waist. The affectionate exchange turned heads, drawing surprised stares from the classmates and even the teacher.
"What?" you exclaimed in response to the collective gaze. Heeseung continued to smile, unbothered. Kyeungmin, however, couldn't contain her anger. She stomped towards you, ready to unleash her frustration, but Jake intervened, urging her to calm down. Heeseung asserted, "I have a girlfriend now, Kyeungmin." Despite her protests, the teacher intervened, instructing her to return to her seat.
As you returned to your place, Heeseung and his friends joined you. Smirks and knowing glances were exchanged among your friends. "So?" Yunjin prompted with a teasing grin. "Well," you began, looking up at Heeseung, "We're together," you declared, exchanging smiles with Heeseung. "Happily together," he added, and you chose to ignore the amused glances and exchanged money among your friends. It seemed they all had a bet on the two of you.
The streets of Paris echoed with the lively chatter of tourists and locals alike as you and Heeseung strolled hand in hand. The city, bathed in the warm hues of the sun, offered a picturesque backdrop to your last day of exploration. A free period granted you the freedom to create memories at your own pace, but the warning from the teacher about staying in groups and observing the curfew lingered in the air.
Amidst the vibrant ambiance, Heeseung turned to you with a question, "What do you wanna do?" A mischievous glint danced in your eyes as you replied, "Hmm, I wanna get ice cream first!" Heeseung nodded in agreement, and together with your friends, you all indulged in the delight of ice cream. A charming park became the setting for your impromptu gathering, where laughter and conversations flowed freely. Jungwon voiced the collective sentiment, expressing happiness that you and Heeseung had finally embraced your feelings. Chuckles erupted from both of you, the day unfolding with the promise of joy.
As the group roamed Paris, serendipitous moments found you and Heeseung alone in romantically charged settings. One such instance occurred in a vast bookshop, where towering shelves embraced literary wonders. On the second floor, you stretched to reach a tempting book, only for Heeseung to smoothly retrieve it for you. A soft "thank you" escaped your lips, and as you examined the book, his hand gently cradled your jaw, lifting your gaze to meet his. A smile played on his lips before a tender kiss ensued. Caught in the intimate exchange, you dropped the book, your hands finding solace in the warmth of Heeseung's sweater. The spell was broken by the amused interruption of Kazuha, reminding you that, perhaps, a bookshop wasn't the most private place for such encounters.
Another intimate moment unfolded during a serene canoe ride, the rhythmic dip of Heeseung's oar creating a soothing melody. He sung softly, casting a glance your way with a smile. With your gaze fixated on the water, you admired the playful dance of fish beneath the surface.
----------------
Amidst the hustle and bustle of a Parisian boutique, you found yourself immersed in a sea of fashionable choices. The allure of a chic skirt and a matching top beckoned you, and with a glint of excitement in your eyes, you decided to try them on. The changing room provided a momentary sanctuary where you could revel in the delight of a potential new outfit.
As you emerged from the changing room, the skirt swaying with each step, your eyes locked with Heeseung's. A palpable appreciation radiated from his gaze as he admired the ensemble. Drawn closer by an irresistible magnetism, he approached you, a slow and deliberate stride that carried the weight of desire.
With a subtle smile playing on your lips, you felt the gentle push of the curtain against your back as Heeseung enclosed both of you in a cocoon of privacy. His words, a soft declaration, caressed the air, "Baby, you look amazing in whatever you wear." The sincerity of his compliment warmed your heart as his lips found yours against the changing room wall.
Heeseung's hands traced the contours of your body with a possessive familiarity, his fingers slipping underneath the fabric of the skirt, exploring the expanse of your thigh. The other hand secured itself on your hip, grounding you in the intensity of the moment. You reciprocated with a fervent response, your hands finding solace around his neck as the world outside the curtain ceased to exist.
In the hushed haven of shared desire, time seemed to stretch, suspended in the allure of each stolen kiss. However, the melody of Sunghoon's voice, calling your names from beyond the curtain, broke the enchantment. "Y/n? Heeseung?" Sunghoon's inquiry sliced through the intimate bubble, prompting a reluctant withdrawal.
"We'll be there!" you called out, the corners of your lips lifting into a playful smile. Heeseung, though slightly disgruntled by the interruption, snickered. "So many interruptions," he grumbled, his lips finding sanctuary on your forehead before relinquishing the tight grip on the curtain. You, in tandem, shifted back into the reality of the bustling store.
A playful snicker accompanied your return to the world outside the changing room. "I'm buying you that skirt and top," Heeseung declared with a determined grin. "Okay, baby," you responded with a teasing chuckle, clutching the bag of clothes that held the promise of a stylish addition to your wardrobe. The boutique, a silent witness to a stolen moment, resumed its lively rhythm as you both exited, hand in hand, ready to embrace the streets of Paris in your newfound attire.
----------------
The evening in Paris was drenched in a soft glow, the city's lights shimmering like scattered stardust. You and Heeseung found yourselves perched in front of the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of love that echoed your own burgeoning romance. The iconic landmark loomed overhead, its intricate lattice structure outlined against the night sky.
A comfortable silence enveloped both of you as you sat side by side on a blanket spread over the grass. The gentle breeze carried whispers of enchantment, and the distant hum of the city created a soothing symphony.
Heeseung's gaze lingered on you, an adoring smile playing on his lips. You felt his warmth beside you, his hand finding yours as your fingers intertwined. The soft glow of the Eiffel Tower bathed both of you in a romantic ambiance.
"I still can't believe we're here together," Heeseung said, his voice carrying a mix of awe and happiness. "In Paris, under the Eiffel Tower."
You turned to look at him, a grin lighting up your face. "Yeah, it feels like a dream. But it's real, isn't it?"
Heeseung nodded, his thumb tracing circles on the back of your hand. "Very real. And the best part is, we're not just in Paris. We're here together."
The shared realization sparked joy in both of you, a shared happiness that radiated in the quiet moments between words. The city's lights danced around you, and the Eiffel Tower stood as a silent witness to your budding love story.
"We're together, and that's all that matters," you added, leaning against Heeseung's shoulder. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
Heeseung's affectionate gaze deepened, and he pressed a tender kiss to the top of your head. "Me neither. I'm so grateful for this moment, for us."
The Eiffel Tower glittered above, its beams of light sending a cascade of sparkles across the dark canvas of the night. As the two of you sat there, wrapped in the magic of Paris, the realization of being together in such a magical place brought an overwhelming sense of happiness.
In the heart of the city of love, you and Heeseung forged your own narrative, creating memories that would forever be etched in the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower, a testament to the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
The train station buzzed with activity as your class gathered, ready to embark on the journey back to the airport. The absence of the bus privilege this time didn't dampen the spirits; instead, it added an air of adventure to the conclusion of your trip. Heeseung, standing by your side, couldn't hide the brightening of his eyes when he noticed you wearing the clothes he gave you the night before. The simple act brought a warmth to his gaze, a silent acknowledgment of the connection between you two.
Throughout the wait, Heeseung didn't leave your side. His presence was a comforting constant, his arms wrapped around you as you leaned into the embrace. The attention and affection he showered on you made the entire experience feel magical. You welcomed the closeness, relishing in the feeling of being special and cherished.
When the train arrived, exhaustion settling in, Heeseung didn't hesitate. With a smile, he effortlessly lifted you onto his back, your arms wrapping around his neck. Yunjin took charge of your baggage, and Jay carried Heeseung's as the group boarded the train. Heeseung sat you down with gentle care, claiming a seat beside you. The rhythmic sound of the train became a soothing background as each of you plugged in an AirPod, sharing the music that played in unison.
The airport greeted you with the hum of bustling travelers, and Heeseung continued his attentive gestures. Piggyback rides turned into him carrying you through the airport, navigating the crowds effortlessly. You leaned into him, enjoying the shared moments, his presence a source of comfort and joy.
The boarding gate buzzed with activity as you and Heeseung made your way onto the plane. The anticipation of returning home mingled with the bittersweet feeling of leaving behind the vibrant memories created in Paris. As you searched for your seats, you found yourself in the middle seat, but the slight disappointment vanished when you realized Heeseung was seated beside you, in the coveted window seat.
"Hi, princess," Heeseung greeted you with a warm smile as you settled into your seats. "Hello, my prince," you replied, the endearing nicknames exchanged creating an atmosphere of shared affection between you two. The plane took off, and, in no time, you found yourselves immersed in a lively conversation, the hum of the engines becoming a backdrop to your laughter and whispers.
Throughout the plane ride, you and Heeseung were inseparable. Cuddling became second nature, a seamless blending of comfort and shared joy amid the confined space. The hours passed in the blink of an eye as you continued to exchange stories, dreams, and laughter.
As the plane touched down and the passengers prepared to disembark, the farewell hugs and goodbyes echoed through the cabin. Your classmates dispersed, heading to their respective destinations. You and Heeseung lingered, savoring the final moments of the trip.
Standing together, the moonlight bathing the airport in a soft glow, you waited for your ride. The hushed conversations and the distant hum of airport activities filled the air. Heeseung, beside you, smiled, his arm wrapping around you. "Fun trip? Hmm?" he asked, the twinkle in his eyes reflecting the shared memories.
"Yeah, a fun trip," you confirmed, your gaze meeting his. Heeseung grinned, sealing the sentiment with a tender peck on your lips. "Je t'aime, mi amor," he whispered in French, the words carrying a warmth that transcended language barriers. You chuckled, reciprocating, "Mhh, je t'aime," as you shared a soft, lingering kiss beneath the moonlit sky.
Overall, the trip was undeniably a success. The adventure in Paris had not only gifted you with cherished memories but also with a newfound relationship that blossomed amidst the romantic ambiance of the City of Lights.

Remember the Wingman Wayne AU? I decided to write a sequel :D (it can be read separately tho, so this is a new part 1 of 8!) | also on ao3 now
'Robbie!'
Steve startles her by loudly drumming his hands onto the counter and she turns around to look at him.
'Why are you here? Did you forget it's your day off today?' She slams a pile of tapes on the counter, right next to his hand, making him jerk it away reflexively.
'Watch out for my hands!'
'Then stop being so annoying!'
He sighs dramatically, but ceases his incessant drumming and instead leans his elbows on the counter.
'Would you like to go on a date with the most perfect girl in the world?' he asks, sounding like he's presenting some kind of game show and about to reveal which prize she has won.
Robin wrinkles her nose. 'Why do you sound like you're scamming me?'
'I'm not scamming you!' he exclaims in an indignant tone. 'I literally have the perfect girl to set you up with, trust me!'
'And what's the catch?'
'No catch.'
'Are you absolutely one hundred percent sure about that?'
'Yes!' he calls out in an exasperated voice.
She squints her eyes at him, but decides to give him the benefit of the doubt – for now, at least.
'Alright, I'm interested. What's her name?'
'Uhh... I – can't tell you. It's a blind date.'
She squints even harder, making Steve's face almost disappear from her vision.
'You don't know her name, do you?'
'Uhh...'
'Steve.' She sighs. 'What did you do? Did you get scammed?'
'No!' He raises his hands. 'No scam, alright? I just – I forgot to ask her name.'
'Okay, so in what uncivilized gutter did you pick up this presumably perfect lesbian who doesn't even properly introduce herself to the guy who wants to set her up with what may possibly be the love of her life?'
'I haven't actually met her,' Steve admits. 'No, no, listen!' he quickly adds when Robin opens her mouth. 'Remember Eddie's uncle, Wayne? The one who set me up with the love of my life?'
Robin nods. 'Impossible to forget, you talk about him constantly when you're not talking about Eddie. It's weird and mildly creepy.'
'I can't help that the man is fucking awesome!'
God, it really is too easy to get Steve all huffy.
'Okay, so I haven't actually met this girl, but Wayne has! And he thinks she's the perfect match for you, and me and Eddie are living proof that he's always right about that shit. So you should definitely go on a date with her. She's a reporter, that's cool, right?'
'Very cool,' Robin replies blankly. 'And how much did you tell him about me? Because I never met the man, dingus, so forgive me if I'm a little skeptical about how he knows I'd be such a perfect match for this mystery nameless reporter girl.'
'He knows enough about you, alright? Can you please just trust his judgment on this one? Worst case scenario, it'll cost you a few hours of your time. Best case scenario, you'll find your true love and live happily ever after.'
That is actually an annoyingly strong argument – well, not the happily-ever-after shit, that's way over the top, but Robin does have nothing to lose here; even though she doesn’t know Eddie's uncle, she trusts the man enough to believe that he wouldn't set her up with some creepy psychopath. So she might as well go for it and see what happens. She has to admit she's curious about the girl. It's not like she has a huge range of queer women to choose from around Hawkins, so it would be rather stupid to waste this chance without even trying, right? It's been a while since she actually dated. She broke up with Vickie months ago and her lack of dates has less to do with not being ready to move on and more with the fact that she's a lesbian living in goddamn Hawkins, Indiana.
'Alright, I'm in,' she decides, causing Steve to cheer and pump his fist in the air like some gross straight dudebro.
'YES!' he yells out. 'Alright, I'll call Wayne to let him know that you're in. And you should be ready for a romantic dinner at Benny's tomorrow at 7 o'clock. I'll take your evening shift, no need to thank me.'
'A romantic dinner at Benny's?' Robin repeats in an incredulous voice. 'Are you sure I wanna meet this girl if that's peak romance for her?'
Steve excited smile drops so fast it's almost comical. 'It was Wayne's idea, okay,' he says, and it sounds slightly more defensive than necessary. 'The man lives in a trailer park, cut him some slack.'
And something about that is oddly cute – both the fact that Steve is so ready to defend Mr. Munson and the idea of this middle-aged straight man picking out Benny's Burgers as a go-to lesbian date location.
'Okay, I won't complain,' she's quick to tell Steve. 'The burgers there are impeccable.'
'That's the spirit!' Steve's slightly too intense excitement is back on again. 'Tomorrow, 7. Be there or be prepared to stay alone forever.'
'That's a bit much,' she mumbles as Steve walks out of the store, turning around at the door to shoot finger guns at her while crashing into that one Fast Times cardboard cutout that's somehow always in his way. She snickers while turning her attention back to the tapes she had been sorting, trying not to think too hard about what’ll be waiting for her tomorrow evening.

Y/N felt her heart jump as the tone began to sound inside her air craft.
"What the fuck is that?" She asked looking around franticly.
"Tally two, three o'clock." Hangman informed seeing the two bandits. "Smoke in the air, smoke in the air." Diving down as Y/N pulled up being chased by the missile. Quickly deploying flares stopping the missile in its tracks.
"Dagger spare, we have bandit number two heading straight for dagger two."
"Hangman you go help them, I'll handle this guy." Y/N instructed breaking right as the enemy plane followed.
"Copy that Darwin."
Y/N watched as Jake broke left followed by one of the bandits leaving one to follow her.
She groaned in frustration after a few minutes of attempting to shake or get behind the superior aircraft. Just as she was about to reduce her speed in hopes to fall behind the bandit the familiar sound of a missile lock stopped her
Y/N sped up keeping the missile behind her as she made a sharp turn to face the bandit, she knew she wouldn't be able to get a missile lock on him in time, she began shooting towards the bandit. No sooner than her bullets hit the bandit did the missile connect with her plane.
"Dagger spare is hit." She radioed. "I repeat Dagger Spare is hit." Grabbing the photo off the dash Y/N yanked the eject handle flinging her from her plane seconds before it exploded, so close she could feel the heat.
Clutching the photo in her hand Y/N prepares herself to unhook as she grew closer and closer to the water. Unclipping herself she the water fighting the urge to gasp at the cold temperature. Taking in a breath of air as her break to the surface, she feels relieved to see the sight of two planes in the water.
Starting to swim towards the debris, she stopped, feeling a pain in the side. Looking down she sees the trail of red that he body is emitting.
"What the fuck." She groaned before continuing on her path towards the floating debris. Pulling herself up on to the drifting before everything faded to black.

Maverick, Rooster and hangman landed on the tarmac being greeted by the cheers of their fellow pilots.
Though for Rooster the celebration only lasted until he realized that someone was missing.
It took everything in him not to pass out once he found out that Darwin had been shot down, after almost loosing Mav and his own life he thought he was finally able to breath and then just like that it was all knocked out of him.
He couldn't think straight and it only got worse when he was told she would be transported to the hospital to treat injured sustained  during a dog fight with a fifth gen fighter, meaning he wouldn't be able to see her until they docked.
All of this  paired with the guilt he felt, in his mind if it wasn't for him she would never have been out there, lead Rooster to do what he did.
"Mav, I have to talk to you for a second." He said after Maverick opened the door to his room, walking inside Pete noticed the way the young man was rubbing his hands on his pants as his eyes shifted around the room,
"What's up?" Pete asked closing the door before walking over to him, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"It's about Darwin."
"Rooster I know you care a lot about her but I'm sure there is nothing to worry about."
"No Mav." Rooster denied. "I asked for statues from search and rescue, she lost a lot of blood, she was barley conscious when they got her to the hospital...If you only knew what I know you would understand."
"Bradley....Is she pregnant?"
"What? No! Well I'm pretty sure she isn't, but that's not it." He replied taking a deep breath. "I think you should sit down."
"Rooster what ever it is you can tell m-."
"Mav sit down."
"I'm a grown man-"
"You should really sit down."
"We just stole an enemy aircraft and took down at least two bandit in said museum piece, do you really think there is a lot that could shock me at this po-."
"Darwin is your daughter." Rooster blurted out successfully shocking the captain into silence.
"What did you just say?" Pete asked stumbling back as his legs attempted to give way. Bradley quickly rushed over to a place a chair behind him before pushing his shoulders down, lowering him into the chair. "What did you say?"
"She told me right before we left, I told her we would tell you after the mission but then you got shot down and I- I told her I would come back safe but I couldn't leave you and now she..." Bradley stopped. "The medics didn't seem so sure about her when they dropped her off and I just know that if she- she would want you to know."
*-*-*
"You go inside I'll park." Penny said as she pulled up tot he front of the hospital letting Pete exit as she went to find a parking spot.
Maverick immediately rushed to the front desk standing next to a couple also waiting for the nurse to become available.
The whole way to the hospital Maverick was cursing the mounts of paperwork and endless questions he had to answer about the mission, only growing as Rooster and the rest of the Dagger squad headed over to the hospital.
After a few minutes a blonde nurse walked behind the desk sitting down behind the computer. "What can I help you with."
"I'm looking for my daughter." Maverick and the woman said at the same time, giving each other a quick glance before turning back to the nurse. "Her name is Y/N L/N." They said in sync.
Looking over to the couple after a few moment Maverick realized who she was. "Rebecca?"
"Pete." The Y/H/C woman replied looking at him in an attempt to his her shock before turning away in favor of the nurse as Maverick just stares at the side of her head. "My daughter ma'am." She reminded the nurse as she typed away on the key bored.
"Room 437 ma'am and sir....and sir." She addressed the trio as before they started towards the elevator. Standing in the confined space was awkward at least for Pete it was.
In all honesty after seeing the picture he recognized Rebecca as a girl he had been seeing that ghosted him while he was deployed, he wasn't too broken up about it, not like he had panned to propose or anything.
He didn't have any hard feelings towards her when she left and honestly if he had ran into her in passing he might have been happy to see a familiar face but right now the only thing he could see her as was the woman that took his child away from him and that filled him with an anger he had never felt before.
Maverick knew now wasn't the time to pick a fight with his estranged ex and mother of her recently discovered child but he was never good at keeping his mouth shut.
"You know," He started as they approached the hospital room causing the couple to freeze in their tracks. "With all the things Y/N had told me I wouldn't expect you to have shown up....Rebecca." He spat her name.
"My daughter is hurt, why wouldn't I be here Pete?" She asked turning to face the captain as he scoffed at her.
"The same daughter you disowned and haven't spoken to for years?" Maverick questioned narrowing his eyes at the woman. "Just so you know now might not be the best time for an 'I told you so'"
"Of course not, I would never be that cruel."
"Past expectance has proven that statement to be a lie." He countered. "I'm just glad somehow Darwin turned out to be the person she is despite your parenting."
"You have some nerve judging me on my parenting skills!"
"Yeah, well it would be pretty hard for you to judge me on mine considering you stole my chance to be a parent!"
"Pete. What the hell?" Penny whisper/yelled as she jogged down the hall, just as the door of room 437 swung open and two blonde male stuck their heads out.
"Not to interrupt you arguing in the middle of the...hospital but I just though I would let you know Darwin can hear you, very clearly." Jake informed with a judging look towards the three older people.
"Yeah I think everyone can." Bob added on shyly before ducking back into the room.
Penny walked past the three as they stood in the hall making sure to shoot a disappointed head shake to the pilot before entering the room. Letting out a sigh in frustration Maverick moved to follow.
"Hey sweetheart how are you?" Penny asked walking over to the side of Y/N's bed.
Penny, thanks for coming." Darwin smiles warmly at the bar owner. "I'm fine. Could use some decent food though, one of your burgers would really hit the spot."
"So much so she may or may not have guilt tripped Rooster into running off to go get her one." Phoenix informed sitting on the other side of the bed.
"Snitch." Y/N muttered as her eyes drifted over to Maverick as he awkwardly approached the bed. If the conversation from the hall wasn't enough, Rooster had confessed that in his worry and distress of finding out she had been injured coming to save them that he had told Maverick everything he knew about him being her father. He felt so guilty about possibly overstepping and loosing her he was more than willing to 'sneak' her a burger into the hospital despite the doctors orders.
"Hi...Y/N." Maverick said in a low voice looking at the woman who, now that he was really looking he noticed, had many features similar to his own and he hated himself for not noticing before.
"That was some damn good flying."
"Thank you sir." Y/N smiled. "That means a lot coming from you."
'Hi dad.' Maverick swears he heard but the delusion only lasted a few fleeting seconds.
"Hi Mav." Darwin replied looking at her father with, what he noticed was, uncertainly in her eyes.
"Do you have any children, sir?"
"No," Maverick answered. "Rooster is the closest thing I've ever had to a son."
"Did you ever want them?" She asked gripping the railing of the patio as she waited anxiously for his answer.
It hit Maverick that she was uncertain, she thought there was a chance he wouldn't want her and he hated himself for it. He hated himself for not seeing that she was his own flesh and blood. He hated he didn't do more to reassure her that he cared about her...that he wanted her, even of it wasn't his fault he blamed himself.
Before he could say anything Y/N's head snapped to the door. "Mother? What are you doing here?" She asked watching as the Y/H/C woman entered the room with her spouse. "Jim...Hey."
"Hey Pumpkin." Jim said walking up as Penny moved to the side. He leaned down a placed a small kiss to her head. "We got a call and we had to come down and make sure you were okay."
"We've got to stop meeting like this huh." She joked with the man causing him to let out a laugh. Jim and Rebecca had meet when she had rushed to the hospital after getting a call from the school informing her Y/N had been taken there, she had been playing when she had fallen and broken her arm.
Maverick watched feeling ashamed at his feelings of envy for the man who had raised his daughter in his place. He knew he was lucky that Y/N had someone like Jim in her life but there is still apart of him that wishes he could turn back time and be in that place instead.
"Okay, she's confident if not a bit arrogant, she a good pilot and god does she know it but she needs to learn that it takes more than just being the best."
"Remind you of anyone?" Ice replied back causing the two to share a small laugh.
"Yeah you." Maverick answered. "I know I was the same, almost exactly."
"She reminded me a lot of you when I first met her." Ice stated. "I think you two have a lot more in common than you realize."
Maverick didn't know weather to be thankful or horrified that even though he was not able to be present in her life, even he couldn't deny that they were so similar, and once again wanting to punch himself in the face for being so dense that he couldn't put the pieces together even after Ice attempted to show him the full picture on the box.
"Hey hey hey, I have a burger for the most beautiful, wonderful, amazing woman in the whole world, who isn't mad at me for opening my mouth." Bradley announced as he walked into the room.
"Real smooth Rooster." Coyote says as Bradley moves next to Phoenix taking Y/N hand onto his.
"Yeah well...Either you have it or you don't." He shrugged kissing the back of her hand.
"And you don't" Payback muttered before high fiving Coyote.
"Roos-ter." Her mother repeated looking Bradley up and down. "Fitting seeing how you so comfortably strutted in here." She said causing Hangman and Coyote to snicker
"Um... Bradley, ma'am." He informed with hesitantly, Y/N found it funny as well as Bradly had always said how he would 'put her in her place' for how he treated her. "It's my call sign."
"And I'm assuming the rest of you have...name signs." She asked as everyone sent through the roll call. "And you?" She asked with a small smile that over shadowed her previous judgment.
"Yes, ma'am I'm Bob." He introduced coming forward and shaking her hand, pleasing her even more.
"And you sign?"
"...Bob."
"Oh Boooob." Her mother beamed turning to Y/N with a raised brow nodding in Bob's direction.
"Mother." Y/n warned holding her and Bradley's interlocked hands up and shaking it in her face a bit.
"You know what?" Natasha spoke up standing from her seat. "Why don't we all head down to the Cafeteria and grab something to eat." She said gesturing to herself and the rest of the Naval officers.
"I'm not really hungr-." Hangman started before Natasha cut him off as she yanked him to follow her to the door, shooting a look the to the others in warning.
"Yeah...I think Nat could use some help keeping them in line." Penny added a she started leaving as well. "You too Bradshaw."
Rooster opened his mouth to protest but shut up after seeing Penny giving him a 'mom' look, he knew that he should let the three of them talk. Jim followed them as well.
"You know a lot of things make sense now." Maverick started as after the door was closed. "Ice knew, didn't he?"
"The whole time apparently." Y/N nodded in confirmation. "I went to confirm that day at his house."
"An how long did you know...I...was-am...your."
"That first night at 'The Hard Deck" Darwin confessed. "To say the very last thing I wanted to be the first thing you knew about me was my relationship drama would be an understatement." She laughed slightly.
"Relationship?" Rebecca butted in. "With the bird?"
"Rooster." Y/N corrected with a glare. "And his name is Bradley."
"Okay okay." She raised her hands in mock surrender. "You were always so sensitive, you would think the Navy would have fixed that."
Maverick would have been throwing Rebecca the same glare if he had not noticed the spike in the heart monitor.
'Trust me I've taken criticisms all my life.'
"Is that really want to say to me right now?" Y/N continued to glare. "After all this time, YOU wanna give ME dating advice?"
The two continued to stare at each other in silence Rebecca probably expecting Y/N to back down like before, but this was different and she wasn't the same little girl bringing home a 'B' on her report card.
"Why are you even here?
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well you haven't spoken to me in forever so forgive me for having a  hard time believing you give a damn about my well being."
"Really Y/N, It's been 'forever' I highly doubt that." She rolled her eyes.
"Are you fucking kidding me right now? is this a joke?" Y/N asked looking at her mother as if she was a crazy women. "Out of all the things you could have said, out of everything you should have said and you want to get technical about my the units in which I measure time?"
"Well please do enlighten me on with I should be saying right now." Rebecca scoffed.
"That you were wrong!" Y/N shouted. "That you were wrong to leave Mav and not tell him about me, that you were wrong to make my entire childhood an endless fight for you approval, for turning your back on me when I didn't want to follow your perfect, color-coded life plan for me. You singlehandedly wiped out all the chances for us to have a relationship together and not once have you hade the common decency to look either of us in the eyes and attempt an apology."
The room fell into silence as they all let the words float around.
"I did what I thought was right." Rebecca states firmly staring down at the hospital bed sheets.
"Get out." Y/N glared at the women. "When I first saw you I thought-hoped that maybe just maybe you had changed, thought about what you did, felt...anything about how this effected the other people involved but now I don't think that, that will ever be possible. So I want you to leave."
"Y/N please, It's already been so long-."
"And that was your choice and now this is mine." Y/N replied. "I want you to leave."
After a few moment Rebecca picked up her purse and left the two pilots alone in the room.
"Seems like your destine to witness my obvious inability to have healthy relationships." Y/N joked after a few moments of silence.
"As bad as this might sound I hope I can be there to witness anymore that you might have."
"You were right that sounds kind of bad." She replied.
"Darwin...."
"Uh oh, I think I'm in trouble."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner."
"There never seemed to be a good time, with the mission and everything with rooster and...well both of us- and then Ice." Y/N explained. "I just didn't think you needed the extra stress."
"But you did?" He asked coming closer to her bed side. "We could have handled this together, what if I had died today? What if you had-. Why didn't you tell me sooner." Maverick asked again maybe hoping for a different answer.
"I guess I just wanted to give you a reason to want me." Y/N confessed. "I mean you're 'Maverick' for god sakes, best of the best, five confirmed air to air kills and counting. I guess I though just being one of the best wasn't good enough."
"Every time you breath," Maverick started. "every time your heart beats, every blink is another reason for me to want you."
Y/N didn't know what to say, all her life it seemed that the love she received from to have stipulations and standards, she had been preparing herself for more than ten years to hopefully meet the right ones in order to gain the love of her father.
"Look," Maverick said after a few moments of silence. "I wish that I could say all these years that I've been looking for you or felt that something was missing, or that I knew from the second I saw you that you were my kid, but what I do know is that I don't think I could live with myself if I wasn't apart of your life for however long you'd allow me."
*-*-*
Y/N sat in front of the vanity as a hand comes front behind her and adjusts a piece of hair from her face.  "Honey are you sure about this?" Rebecca asked her daughter making sure the hair was exactly were it needed to be. "it's not too late to change your mind."
"You know mother there I am starting to change my mind about something about today," Y/N glared through the mirror. "like the guest list." she hinted pulling the strand back to it's original place.
"Um, Mrs. Y/L/N I think I heard the wedding planner talking about something being wrong with the flowers." Natasha informed interrupting the tense situation.
"Oh dear." Rebecca huffed. "I swear you should have just let me plan, things would be moving a lot smoother than it is now." She says before exiting the room, looking for the wedding planner no doubt.
"What's wrong with the flowers?" Y/N asked once the door had closed.
"Nothing but you looked like you were about to strangle her." She half joked coming to sit next to her. "But really how are you feeling? Just say the word and it you, me and the open road."
"As tempting as that sounds..." Y/N laughed standing up from her chair. "I think if I run away from Bradley again he might enter his villain era."
Before either of them could continue a knock came from the door.
"Not that I'm rushing you but, how are we looking?" Maverick asked poking his head into the room eyes shut tight.
"I don't know you tell me." Y/N said with a chuckle at his antics
Popping one eye open Maverick turns from caution to shock as he takes in his daughter's final look. "You look amazing." He compliments. "You know it's not too late to change your mind."
"Does everyone else know something I don't?" She joked. "Just to put you at ease...I'm sure."
"Then lets get this show on the road." He said holding out his arm for her to grab.
Standing just outside the door to the church Y/N tightens her grip in Mavericks arm as the music begins to play, she snaps her head to the side as her empty hand his grabbed and wrapped around another arm.
"Ready whenever you are Kiddo." Jim informed with a reassuring smile. "Its not too late you know."
"That's what I said." Pete informed with a smile to her daughter step-father as the door slowly open in front of them.

Rovickie sounds a lot like 'Go, Vickie' and I will be chanting that when they become endgame. When Robin and Vickie share a celebratory kiss, I imagine Steve starts to chant 'go Vickie' and then Eddie joins in with a dance routine to match. Vickie starts giggling.
"Oh god," Robin said with an embarrassing grin. "Please stop."
"They're so funny," Vickie laughed.
"Don't encourage them, Vickie," Robin said as she tried to shield her eyes.
"You guys are very cute. How long have you two been dating?" Vickie asked, dodging Robin's hands.
"They're not dating," Robin scoffed. "They're just idiots."
"Yeah, we're not - ," Steve started to say.
"Definitely not," Eddie snorted.
"Hey, what do you mean by that? I'm a great catch," Steve said.
"Do you want to go out with me?" Eddie asked with a scoff.
"I would love to. Saturday, 7 o'clock. My house. I like sunflowers," Steve said and kissed his cheek. "Don't be late. Also, I like romantic comedies. They make good make-out movies. Oh, it looks like Dustin needs help with something. See you later, Alligator!"
"Okay, so, now they're idiots and they're dating," Robin replied.
"Robin! The government took my trailer with all my stuff, and I have nothing to wear!" Eddie exclaimed.
"Well, sometimes he puts out on the first date so wearing nothing might work," Robin said.
"I can't believe you know that," Vickie said.
"Well, his face has said it all, he can't keep it from me," Robin shrugged.
"This is not helping me!" Eddie shrieked.
"Well, my cousin Johnny might have something you might like," Robin said. "He's always leaving his shit at my place."
SATURDAY. . . At Robin's. . .
Vickie was laying across the bed, flipping through a magazine while Robin lay next to her as they swung their bare feet. Every once in a while, their legs would brush up against each other's. Eddie stormed into the room.
"What. The. Hell?" Eddie asked, holding up a shirt. "Is your cousin a punk?"
"Yeah, isn't that what you are?" Robin asked.
Eddie shrieked and Vickie giggled.
"I think he's going to explode," she said.
"I don't know what you're yelling about. That was Steve’s favorite shirt to wear when he would hook up with Johnny," Robin said and leaned in to whisper to her. "He thinks I didn't know but I knew."
Eddie hollered and ripped the shirt, throwing it onto the floor.
"Go Eddie, go Eddie," Vickie cheered.
"That is a very bad shirt," Eddie said and collapsed next to the bed. "I want to look pretty for him."
"Wouldn't members of your band have something for you to wear?" Robin asked.
"You genius!" Eddie exclaimed kissing her forehead.
"Man kisses!" Robin shrieked.
"I'll get that for you, baby," Vickie said and kissed her forehead. "Muah!"
"Oh, I'm safe now," Robin giggled. "But I think I'm going to need one for my lips."
Vickie laughed. She pinned her to the bed, climbed on top of her, and kissed her deeply.
"That's my que to leave!" Eddie exclaimed and started to leave. "I no longer have to borrow from Dustin!"
"Thank God!" Robin exclaimed, breaking the kiss. "You look fucking ridiculous in those shorts!"
7PM . . . Steve’s . . .
Eddie tugged at Jeff's Iron Maiden shirt and his black pants. He was thankful that he still had his vest which he was currently wearing over said shirt. His hair was in a messy bun, his eyeliner smudged. He gripped the potted sunflower and knocked on the door. Steve opened it and greeted Eddie with a kiss on the cheek.
"You look beautiful," Steve said.
"This is for you," Eddie said, blushing.
"Thanks, come on in," Steve said and took the sunflower. "I made us dinner."
"Goddamn, it smells good in here," Eddie said when they walked into the kitchen. "You cook?"
"It's kind of one of my hobbies," Steve blushed.
"It's my favorite. . .just like Garfield! Mmm, lasagna!" Eddie giggled and paused. "I have to ask you a serious question. Am I a punk or a metalhead?"
"Metalhead, duh, easy question," Steve said.
Eddie grabbed his face and kissed him deeply.
"You're so hot," Eddie said. "Not that I have anything against punks. I actually hooked up with one once. You know, I think his name might have been Johnny too."
"Wait. . .did Robin tell you about Johnny?" Steve asked and Eddie nodded. "She knew! Of course, she did. . .wait, Eddie, did we hook up with the same guy?"
"Shit! I think we did," Eddie laughed. "Damn. Go Johnny! He hooked up with the two hottest dudes in Hawkins."
"Go Johnny! Go Johnny!" Steve exclaimed and started to dance with Eddie in the kitchen.
"Go, go Steve! Go Eddie! Go, Robin! Go Vickie!"
"Go Vickie! Go Vickie! Go Vickie! Go, go go Vickie!"
"Oh my God, we're fucking dorks," Steve said fondly.

My Boss: Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: Joel let's everyone know of a surprise weekend off. Y/N gets more than she bargained for in the shed and a promise for later in the evening.
Joel Miller x f!reader. Smut warning.
Your arm laid across the spot in the bed where Joel had been. It was past midnight and you couldn't sleep. The countless what-ifs danced around in your twenty-two year old mind like flames on a candle. With each thought, the heat grew stronger until you quite literally felt like your head would explode.
What would the morning meeting be like? Unless Joel paired you together again you would have anxiety, even though he always bounced around from place to place and never paired with you more often than anyone else.
You chewed several of the fingernails on your right hand down so far they were starting to hurt. When you turned on your side to try to get some sleep, all you could envision was Joel laying there beside you. His hand on your face, eyes fixed on yours, foot tucked between your beneath the covers
I'm not getting any sleep tonight, you concluded.
..
Your heart pounded. Beside you, your friends Molly and Viv chatted without a care in the world like they did every morning at the pavilion. Would you tell them? You weren't sure yet.
The clock neared seven o'clock and Joel hadn't arrived yet. He was always early and ready to go. What was different about this morning? Why wasn't he here yet?
"Any idea where Joel is?" You finally asked Molly beside you when you couldn't take it anymore.
"Maybe we'll all get the day off," she joked with a shrug.
"If we do I'm hitting that bar down the road," Viv added. "There was a sign up last month with the happy hour prices." She wiggled her eyebrows and you finally managed a genuine chuckle. It made you realize how bad you needed girl time.
"Hey, hey," a friendly, familiar voice filled the room and every hair on the back of your neck stood up. Joel. You almost couldn't hide your physical reaction to seeing him. Your stomach did a flip and you squeezed your legs together under the picnic table where you sat.
In place of his friendly tone you imagined the raspy, dirty nothings he whispered into your ear and against your lips the night before. It was a vast contrast to the way he addressed the group now, flashing boxes of Dunkin Donuts as Angela, his assistant, toted two boxes of Joe. For the first time you felt a spark of jealousy when the two of them entered together.
"What's going on?" Evan, another coworker, asked from the table over.
"I forgot to mention," Joel brushed his hair back and placed one foot up on the bench at the table in front. His eyes landed on yours and for a second or two he paused.
Angela cleared her throat at his seemingly unnatural pause and Joel snapped out of the momentary daze and continued on.
"Todays guests are expected to be checked out by ten." He gently put his hands together and leaned his elbow on the knee that was perched up. "So after we clean out all the family cabins you'll have the rest of the day off."
"No shit?" Evan asked.
Joel smirked and nodded. "No shit."
The group cheered and high-fived at the last minute time off.
"Oh, and.." Joel looked back to Angela who gave the second wave of good news as she removed a sprinkle donut from the box.
"You also get Saturday and Sunday off.. aside from some minor touch up cleaning."
"I called it!" Viv exclaimed when everyone grew excited again.
"No, I did," Molly argued.
"Come get some donuts and coffee," Joel urged. "Then we'll make sure our guests had a good time before taking a much needed mid-summer break on this eighty degrees and sunny afternoon."
You were thrilled about the little break, but it didn't compare to all you had been feeling since bedding your boss. When you rose to your feet and trailed your friends to the donut table, you saw Joel glance at you from your peripheral vision.
Fuck, fuck, fuck. You didn't know how to address him or approach him. But, damn, he looked so good in his baseball hat, snug T-shirt and shorts. Even his mid-calf "dad socks" were doing something for you a little extra that morning.
You took a bite out of a glazed donut and finally found the courage to glance in Joel's direction, half expecting him to turn away but he didn't.
"Are we allowed to leave for the night?" Viv asked. "Or like a few hours."
"You can do whatever you want once the bunks are clean," Joel explained. "How about if we decide to be ready to prep for Monday at one o'clock Sunday afternoon. Between now and then you're all free to do what you want." His eyes met yours again, "You're all adults."
That was definitely a double-meaning. Joel still wanted you, and in the moment that's all you needed to know.
"Would it make sense for all of us to kind of just clean up the stations we were responsible for yesterday?" Molly asked. "Like Jim and I did the painting station. We could put away the paints, wipe down the countertops, whatever else."
A lightbulb went off in Joel's head and he smiled, motioning to Molly. "Great idea."
"I guess that leaves (Y/N) stuck with the boss again," Joel teased, motioning to you.
"Oo ouch, my bad," Molly said with a laugh.
You smiled and looked down sheepishly and then back up.
"I think you need a second donut for that," Angela chimed in, sliding a jelly in your direction.
"Oh come on, I'm not that bad," Joel grinned and flashed you the subtlest of winks. A harsh blush formed on your cheeks and you smiled.
"Better than most," you added awkwardly to the conversation.
Joel's face twisted in amusement as he looked at you more playfully now. "Than most?"
"Okay, all." What were you two talking about? His management abilities or how amazing he was in bed?
"Don't feed his ego," Angela joked again, sipping on a coffee.
"Alright, alright," Joel waved his hands casually, still smiling, "Eat up and then get to work."
"You want to go to Stubby's later with us?" Viv asked eagerly. "That's the happy hour place."
Joel leaned an extra attentive ear to the conversation. You could tell he had been about to walk out but stopped to see what your answer would be.
"Probably." You nodded and left it at that. You didn't want to make any official commitments one way or another. Any other day of the week would have been an automatic yes. Today, however, you were ready to drop everything if it meant another encounter with Joel.
The answer was enough to satisfy your friends and everyone made their way to tend to their own duties.
When Joel didn't immediately follow you down to the shed at the lake you felt a giant wave of disappointment. Every single thought as you wiped down the kayaks included your boss in some way. It was hard to keep him from your mind when a soreness lingered between your legs, a reminder of all that transpired the night before. The ache made you want him that much more.
You sighed to yourself and blew a piece of hair to the side that had snuck out of your ponytail and hung in your face. The shed was sticky from the dense summer heat and you felt the first lair of sweat begin to glisten along your arms as you leaned forward and continued to clean out the vessels.
When a pair of hands touched down gently on your hips from behind you let out a scream. Immediately, you relaxed when you recognized Joel's shushing sound, that he hissed out with a laugh.
"Shh," he put his lips to your ear from behind. "You'll draw everyone down here, and I'm not supposed to be fraternizing with the staff."
You smiled wide and your body burned with desire. It was the immediate reaction to his touch. You slowly spun around to face him and draped your arms around the back of his neck.
"I won't tell," you said quietly, encouraging the kiss Joel had already begun to initiate before the words left your mouth.
It was feral the way you indulged in each other. Everything felt so explosive and exciting. You had never felt this way when kissing anyone else. Making out with Joel secretly like the hottest thing to ever happen to you - aside from the mind blowing sex the night before.
"Am I just better than most?" Joel teased, though you sensed there was something genuine about the question.
He pushed up at your work t-shirt with the name of the campground printed in the corner and exposed one of your breasts so he could take your nipple into his mouth.
You cupped the back of his head and moaned quietly before giving an answer. "The best I've ever had."
"You're just saying that," he choked out in between the gentle flicks of his tongue as his lips tightened around the center of your breast.
"Mmm.. I mean it." You let out a loud sigh when he stopped, but your eyes pressed shut when he kissed you hard again. "No one.. has ever given me.. an orgasm.." you managed to tell him honestly, "Until last night."
You felt Joel smile against your lips and you made out some more. His cock pushed against the front of his shorts and you decided to take the lead this time and make a move.
When you pushed back, breaking the kiss, Joel opened his eyes and his eyebrows pressed together in confusion. A second later you crouched down in front of him and undid the buckle on his belt. You had been dying to do this for some time.
Joel visibly swallowed hard and he began to toy with your hair as you undid his pants and shoved them down to his ankles along with his boxers. Your eyes hit him from your place on dirt ground before you took his thick manhood in your mouth for the first time.
He moaned the second he felt the warmth of your oral cavity engulf him. It was already a challenge. His girth alone left you with a concern for lockjaw as you explored every inch of him fully.
Watching him immediately twitch and squirm with pleasure left your panties saturated again. Joel whispered your name amidst the pumping of your hand against him and the attempts you made to deep throat his thick shaft.
Joel leaned back against the wall, spreading his feet a bit wider and gripped a fistful of your ponytail. "That's it, baby girl," he choked out.
Baby girl. Oh, this man did something new to you every day. You wanted nothing more than to be Joel's baby girl. You'd be his anything.
Your jaw was already feeling tight in the corners but you didn't stop. He was a challenge to get down your throat but you knew what you were doing was effective from Joel's reactions.
"Can I cum in your mouth?" He whispered, beginning to thrust his hips forward.
You nodded, not stopping as a tear squeaked out of the duct of your eye. His cock was a lot to take in and now that he thrusted into your mouth you were struggling - willingly at that.
"I'm gunna cum," Joel warned.
It wasn't longer than a second or two later that his body tensed and he held you firmly by the back of the head. You closed your eyes and felt the warm, sticky liquid coat your throat and alert your taste buds to the taste of saline as Joel shot his load into your mouth.
He grunted and groaned, saying your name in the midst of it all again, and impaling you in the process as he finished himself off completely.
You finally managed a breath as Joel's heavy member fell from your mouth and back safely into his own hand.
"Fuck," he breathed out the word and stroked himself once or twice to alleviate a final drop before pulling his shorts back up.
You rose to your feet, thumbing your swollen bottom lip and swallowed what was left in your mouth.
Joel leaned back against the wall again and reached a hand out to dry the area beneath your eyes. He tipped him mouth up to smile partway. "Was I too rough?"
You wanted to smile but you were too caught up in your own lust to smile. "No," you answered honestly. The tiniest grin managed to creep onto your face and Joel rested a hand on your cheek again.
"You going out to that bar later?" He asked, point blank.
His eyes owned you. *He* owned you.
"No," you said to him, hoping that was what he wanted to hear.
Joel smirked again and continued to let his thumb dance in circles beneath your eye. "I think I owe you one after this," he claimed, "Or more than one."
You wanted one.. or more than one. All in all, you just wanted to breathe the same air as Joel Miller. Where ever he was going that night was where you wanted to be.
"I'm free," you informed him, closing the gap even more between you.
Joel hooked his fingers in the belt loops on your jean shorts and pulled you all the way to him. He kissed you once on the lips.
"Go to cabin thirteen once everyone leaves," he said quietly against your lips. "I'll send you a text."
"Okay," you obeyed. Your hands rested on his broad chest and he still had his fingers hooked on your shorts.
Joel's eyes studied yours and you couldn't help but kiss him again. This was everything you had wanted for so long; but, fuck, you were already caught up.
His eyes lifted toward a small window, and you looked over your shoulder at someone coming through the path.
You pushed away from him and grabbed the rag you had been using to clean the kayak before scuttling to the opposite side of the shed.
Evan wandered in momentarily and motioned to Joel, who fumbled with his walkie talkie.
"Hey boss, uh, Angela was trying to call you on the radio but you didn't answer so she sent me down here to get you. A few families want to rebook for the same week next summer and she just needs your help with that."
"Damn thing." Joel slapped the radio against his thigh and turned the knob. He then spoke into the receiver, letting Angela know he'd be on his way to lend a hand.
"Coming out with us later, (Y/N)?" Evan asked. "First beer's on me."
Joel looked in your direction. Was there a twinge of jealousy in his eyes?
"No fraternizing with the staff," he playfully scolded Evan.
"Oh, never. Never." Evan chuckled and you told him you had a headache but would think about it. That satisfied Joel to the point of smirking to himself.
"You okay to handle this job on your own?" He asked you.
"I can handle it." You nodded and wiped your mouth again as Evan made his alway outside. The fact that he had no idea what you and Joel had just done just minutes before made you all the more hot and bothered.
Joel gave a wink and then headed out of the shed like nothing happened. This left you alone again with just your thoughts and a pair of wet panties.

no gradient version
Image ID:
An interior shot of a gas station. An analog clock on the wall reads 1 o'clock.
In the foreground, Apollo Justice and Athena are riding on either side of a shopping cart. Simon Blackquill is sitting inside the cart. They're motion blurred, implying that Athena is wheeling them down the aisle at high speeds.
Athena is cheering loudly, one fist in the air. Apollo is screaming, one hand thrown behind him, tears in his eyes. Simon is reaching out of the cart, purposefully knocking things off the shelves.
Taka stands behind them, inspecting the fallen items.
In the background, Phoenix Wright is bent over the cashier counter, hands on his head, distraught and facing away from the trio. Trucy Wright stands beside him, holding a popsicle, staring in shock.
Larry stands behind the counter, as if he is the cashier. He is left uncolored, blending into the background.
The lights are off in the 7/11, with the only light source filtering in from off-screen, though the front windows. It's otherwise dark- the time is one in the morning.
The second version of the image has no gradient or motion blur, giving a clearer view of the scene.

A super late Halloween piece written for @drarrymicrofic 's prompt "trick or treat". G | 697 words.
Trick or Treat
"Happy Halloween! Trick or treat?"
Harry stared at the vampire standing amid ten kids in front of his door.
He must have been hallucinating this. There could be no other answer.
Harry rubbed his eyes. The person was still standing there, bonus a scowl.
"What the heck are you doing here, Malfoy? And wearing that!"
The vampire—Malfoy—folded his arms in front of his chest. "Participating in a Muggle tradition, of course. You know my terms of probation."
Harry knew Malfoy's terms of probation. How could he not when he was the Auror assigned to make sure that Malfoy followed it? One of them was learning about Muggles. Under torture, Harry would admit that it was quite fun to watch Malfoy interacting with Muggle things. Malfoy took to drama series, rocks and rolls, takeaways and jeans like a fish took to water, but he shrieked whenever he had to get in a Muggle transportation, too scarred by all the stories about car crashing and plane falling Harry had gleefully told him in details.
However, trying as hard as he could, he could not remember anything about wearing costumes and going around to ask for candies with a bunch of Muggle kids.
"Malfoy—"
"Where're the candies?" asked a kid in an annoyed voice, not caring a bit about whatever the adults had to say.
Following their leader, the other kids started voicing their displeasure at Harry's lack of candies.
"Give us our candies!"
"Candies!! Candies!! Candies!!"
"I want chocolate!" chimed in Malfoy, smirking at Harry.
"I want chocolate, too!" A boy in a giant pumpkin costume yelled. Malfoy high-fived him.
"Don't you have any sweet?" A girl wearing a Frankenstein's monster costume waved her bat threateningly—or would be threateningly if the bat hadn't been bright pink with a huge bow on top of it.
Harry sighed and discreetly Summoned the bowl of sweets he had prepared beforehand.
"Here you go," he said, presenting the kids with the bowl of sweets. The Frankenstein's monster girl looked disappointed. For a moment, Harry had a flashback of Fred and George. He shuddered.
The sweets disappeared in approximately ten seconds. It seemed the spicy tamarind candy had appealed to the Frankenstein's monster girl; she had put her bat down to open the wrap and throw the candy into her mouth. The pumpkin boy jumped in delight with the cheap chocolate bar Harry bought from the supermarket that morning. Harry noted to himself to buy a more expensive brand of chocolate next time.
Before Harry could be relieved that the world's peace was restored, a voice resounded.
"Where is my share?" asked Malfoy in a heartbroken voice, no sweets in hand.
Harry looked down at the bowl of sweets. There was none left.
"Eh... I'm sorry," said Harry, feeling weirdly disappointed at himself. He hadn't intended to give Malfoy any sweet, but still.
Malfoy dropped his head. The kids immediately surrounded Malfoy and cooed at him. A girl in a ghost costume hugged Malfoy to comfort him. The pumpkin boy offered to give Malfoy haft of his chocolate bar. The Frankenstein's monster girl glared at Harry, bat in hands again.
It was when an idea sprouted in Harry's head. "Come back tomorrow! I'll give you your chocolate tomorrow!"
Malfoy looked up, eyes widen with hope. "Really?"
Harry nodded eagerly. "Yes! I will even give you a whole box of chocolate!"
Malfoy smiled brightly.
The Frankenstein's monster girl gave Harry a thumb-up. Harry thumbed up back.
The kids and Malfoy waved him goodbye and moved to terrorise the next house. Harry waved after them.
Now he needed to think about which brand he should buy Malfoy tomorrow.
(*)
"Trick or treat?" A cheerful voice yelled when Harry opened the door. As promised, Malfoy and the kids had come back, minus the costumes.
Harry looked at them, glanced at the clock and groaned. By "tomorrow", he didn't mean 7 o'clock in the morning. He also didn't remember promising the throng of kids more sweets.
"Where are the sweets?" asked Malfoy with a hopeful smile.
Harry watched the dimples on Malfoy's cheeks, and decided that being wakened up at arse hour wasn't so bad.

I have nothing if I don't have you
(Chapter 3)
Ting...tong!
The sound of the doorbell succeeded in waking Kakashi from his sleep, while the sound of the alarm clock beside his bed failed. Why? Because only Tenzo rings the doorbell this early, and that means.... it's 7 o'clock!!!!
"7 o'clock?! Oh nooooo...I'm late..." Kakashi covered his face with both hands.
He then forced himself to get up and immediately went downstairs to open the door.
"Morning, sir!" Tenzo's greeting was cheerful and enthusiastic as usual.
"Morning, Tenzo...please...come in...and...do your work..." Kakashi was still trying to gather his consciousness. "I'm already late...so...just start to do your work..." kakashi turned around and rushed upstairs to get ready.
Tenzo blinked for a moment to digest the situation. Usually when he arrived, Kakashi was already dressed neatly and ready to go to the office, but now he was still wearing his pajamas.
"No problem, sir..." said Tenzo as he entered and closed the front door, then walked towards the kitchen.
This is all because last night Kakashi had to work overtime preparing materials for today's meeting. Today there will be a big meeting of all divisions to discuss government building renovation projects. Konoha Corp will compete with several other development companies to win the tender for who will renovate the building. This project will bring big profits to the company that wins the tender, so Konoha Corp doesn't want to fail.
Kakashi showered and got dressed as quickly as he could. Then put the laptop and all the required documents into the bag, and ran down the stairs. When he open the front door...
"Excuse me, sir..." said Tenzo.
Kakashi turned his head "yes?"
"I made this for you, just in case you didn't have time for breakfast, sir.." Tenzo held out both hands. His right hand holds a bento box and his left hand holds a thermos filled with hot coffee.
"Oh... thank you... I appreciate that, but actually you don't have to..." Kakashi was surprised.
"No problem, sir... I also make the same bento for the kids..." Tenzo smiled. "Umm...I'm sorry sir, but I think your tie needs to be straightened..."
"Oh?" Kakashi tried to look at his tie which turned out to be crooked, probably because he had been in a hurry, but his hands were full.
"May I, sir?" Tenzo asked, offering to help.
"Oh...yes please..." answered Kakashi.
Tenzo then came closer and straightened Kakashi's tie and shirt collar.
"Well, it's better now, sir. And good luck for today!" Tenzo clenched his right fist while smiling.
"Oh...thank you... Well...I have to go now...so...see you..." kakashi opened the door, got out, and closed it. He took a breath and exhaled. A feeling of comfort emerged in his heart. He then walked towards his car feeling much calmer, doesn't know where the feeling of panic and rush gone.
45 minutes later Tenzo, Sakura, Sai and Naruto were already on the front terrace.
"Hurry uuuuup Narutooooo!!! We're all going to be late just because you took too long to tie your shoes!!!" Sakura said while smacking Naruto's head.
"...I'm trying..."
"It's okay Sakura, we still have time. You can do it, Naruto!" Tenzo said.
Five minutes later Naruto finished tying his shoes and they all rushed to school. As soon as the car driven by Tenzo arrived at the school parking lot, Sakura immediately got out and ran to her class, as did Sai.
"Wait Sai! You left your sketchbook..." Tenzo got out of the car and handed the sketchbook to Sai. "Have a nice day, sai!" Tenzo said with a smile. Sai just accepted his sketchbook then turned towards class without saying anything and without expression.
After that, Tenzo returned to the car and helped Naruto unfasten his seat belt.
"Naruto..."
"Hmm?"
"Before you get out of the car, I want to play with you for a while..." said Tenzo.
"Play???" Naruto was surprised.
"Yes. A role play."
"A role play???" Naruto looked confused.
"Listen, when next time your friends make fun of you again, say this sentence that I will teach you. If they call you an 'orphan', just tell them 'No problem. I'm okay with that' and give them your best smile, then leave them. You got that?"
"Ummm...okay...."
"Great! Now we're gonna play the role. I'll be your friend and you'll be you. Ready?"
"Yep!"
Tenzo cleared his throat, "Orphaaan! Orphaaan! Hahaha...". Tenzo said with the exact expression Naruto's friends did yesterday.
"No problem. I'm okay with that," said Naruto then smiled until his eyes narrowed.
"Great job! From the first time I saw you, I knew that you were a very smart boy."
"Am I???"
"Sure. Give me a high five!" Naruto then patted Tenzo's right hand.
"Now go to your class with a giant spirit like you will conquer the world in front of you. Go!"
"Okay! See you, tenzooo!" Naruto ran towards his class feeling happy and full of enthusiasm.
Tenzo looked at Naruto with a smile, then got into the car. He deliberately didn't wait on the bench in the yard like yesterday to teach Naruto to be brave.
Meanwhile...
Kakashi arrived in his room. He put down the documents, bag, as well as the bento box and thermos from Tenzo. He sat down and looked at his watch. There are still 10 minutes before the meeting starts. Kakashi decided to open the thermos. As soon as it was opened, the fragrant aroma of coffee immediately came out and blended with the air around Kakashi. Kakashi poured the coffee into the thermos lid and took a sip.
"Really delicious..." Kakashi thought as he closed his eyes, enjoying his coffee. The coffee that Tenzo makes is definitely the same sachet coffee that Kakashi makes every day. But why does this one taste so much better? Kakashi wondered to himself. He felt much fresher now.
To be honest, he felt a bit awkward when Tenzo approached him and fixed his tie. But...it feels like there is another feeling too. He felt....happy, but also strange... because it felt like it had been a long time since he felt like that... He himself didn't know why that feeling came up again...
Kakashi then finished the coffee he had poured them losed the thermos of coffee again. Now his attention was focused on the bento box. Actually, Kakashi was curious to open it, but the meeting would start soon. He had to immediately go to the meeting room. So he decided to open and eat his bento during his lunch break. He took the laptop and the required documents. Then walk out of the room in a good mood and full of enthusiasm.
Two hours later...
Naruto's school bell rang. A sign that it's time for Naruto and his friends to go home. As usual, other parents had also arrived at the yard to pick up their children. And as usual, Naruto's friends made fun of him....again.
"See you tomorrow, poor orphan...hahahaha..." exclaimed one of them, which was followed by laughter from the others. Naruto stopped walking. His hands gripped tightly. He took a deep breath, then exhaled, and turned around to face the friends who had mocked him earlier.
"No problem. I am okay with being an orphan. See you tomorrow!" Naruto said while smiling and turning around and walking again cheerfully. His friends stared. They didn't expect Naruto would say that.
Tenzo waited next the car. Naruto saw him then ran and immediately hugged Tenzo. Tenzo hugged Naruto and spun him around, until Naruto laughed.
After he was satisfied spinning and laughing, Tenzo put Naruto down.
"How about we go to the ice cream shop now? I still owe you because I lost the room tidying competition yesterday..." asked Tenzo.
"Let's goooooo!!!!" replied Naruto
Back to Konoha Corp headquarter.
The meeting was temporarily stopped because it was already lunch time. Meeting participants leave the room to take a break. Including Kakashi. He walked towards the elevator to return to his room. Suddenly someone took his right arm...
"Kakashi, how about we have lunch together?"
"Oh... Anko..." Kakashi was surprised. "I am sorry, but I will have lunch in my room, because I brought a bento..." said Kakashi.
"Be...bento? Since when do you bring bento to the office???"
Kakashi just smiled and got into the elevator.
Not long after, Kakashi was sitting in front of his desk. Then opened the bento box from Tenzo. Kakashi was surprised. Inside there is rice molded into a heart, tamago, chicken katsu, and fresh salad.
"Holly...molly....what am I seeing now?" Said Genma who was standing in the doorway.
"Kakashi and bento??? That's a strangest thing I saw today..." said gai next to him.
"What's wrong? Am I not allowed to eat bento?" Kakashi asked.
"Of course no..." Gai said as he walked in. "But the last time I saw you and bento was when we were still in the same class in Kindergaten..." he said, laughing.
"Yeah...me too. We three were in the same class, right?" Add genma. "Hey...look at the rice...very cute heart rice...I don't know that you are so cute, kakashi..."
"I didn't make it. The nanny did..." Kakashi said casually.
"Wait...what? The new nanny made that bento for you???" Gai asked. Kakashi nodded.
"Ooo-M-G.....I can smell looove in the air...." said Genma.
Kakashi was just about to respond to his two mischievous friends when suddenly another voice came from the door.
"What love?" Apparently it's Anko, again. He entered Kakashi's room holding a bento box too. "Can I eat here with you, kakashi?"
"Oh...sure...please..." said kakashi.
Anko sat opposite Kakashi. "You two? What are you doing here?" Anko asked Genma and Gai.
"Oh...um...we're going to have lunch too..." Genma answered, elbowing Gai.
"Eh...yeah, that's right...so we'll go first..." Gai answered as he left the room with Genma.
"I think those two always act strangely. Isn't that right?" Anko asked.
Kakashi just chuckled as he started eating his bento. He picked up the tamago with chopsticks and put it in his mouth, then chewed it. Delicious... thought Kakashi. Then he tried the chicken katsu. This is also delicious....very delicious....he thought.
"....Kakashi!" Called Anko in a slightly loud tone.
Kakashi realized "Oh...what's wrong?"
"You didn't listen to me, did you?"
"Oh... sorry Anko... just... what did you say?"
"Because I heard you brought a bento, I wanted to have a bento lunch too. So I bought it at the minimarket near the office. It tastes pretty good..." said Anko while chewing her ebi katsu. "Where did you buy that bento?"
"Oh, I didn't buy it..."
"You cook yourself????"
"Of course not... This morning my children's nanny made this bento and gave it to me, because this morning I didn't have time for breakfast..."
"Oh I see. Is it delicious?
"This is...special" answered Kakashi steadily.
Spontaneously, feelings of jealousy emerged in Anko's heart. "Umm...that nanny...is she a middle-aged woman?"
"Umm...actually..." before Kakashi could answer, suddenly Gai and Genma appeared at the door.
"Hi...now we also bring bento. Can we join?" Genma asked and Gai cheerfully asked.
Anko immediately lost her appetite.
Back to school...
"Give me back my sketchbook..." said Sai while trying to escape from the grip of his two friends.
"You mean this ugly book?" Kabuto said which was followed by laughter from his two friends who were holding the sai.
"Give it back..." said Sai.
"Hmm...what do I do? Let me think first whether I will return this ugly book to you...or not..." said Kabuto. He then dropped Sai's sketchbook...stomped on it while laughing with satisfaction...
Sai was shocked "Don't....." he said helplessly.
Suddenly Kabuto was pushed by someone and fell.
"Don't do that to my brother!" Sakura shouted angrily.
"Youuu!!!" Kabuto said annoyed, then gave a code to his two friends. His two friends pushed the sai until he fell, then approached Sakura and grabbed her hands.
"What do you want?!!" Sakura struggled, trying to get rid of the grip.
"You noisy big forehead! Acting like a hero! How dare you push me!" Kabuto raised his right hand to slap Sakura. Suddenly a hand grabbed Kabuto's right hand, very strong. Kabuto turned his head.
"Years of studying at an expensive school just for this? How embarrassing..." said Tenzo.
"Who are you? Let go of my hand! Don't interfere!" Kabuto shouted annoyed.
"You don't need to know who I am. What you and your two friends need to know is that what you did to Sai and Sakura was a bad thing. So now, quickly kneel down and apologize to Sai and Sakura, return Sai's sketchbook, and promise them that you guys won't do it again. Oh, one more thing, you also have to buy Sai a new sketchbook because you stepped on it earlier..." said Tenzo.
"Fussy!!! Just go to hell!" Kabuto said.
Tenzo exhaled "Alright then..."
A few moments later, Kabuto and his two friends were slumped helplessly on the floor.
"Okay...time to say sorry, guys..." said Tenzo while clapping his hands together.
"Sorr..sorry...sai...sakura..." said Kabuto and his two friends.
"And promise you won't do it again!" Tenzo said firmly.
"We...we...promise not to do that again...to you..." Kabuto said while holding back the pain.
"Now return Sai's sketch book!"
Kabuto got up, then took Sai's sketchbook, and gave it to Sai.
"Good job. By the way, I have recorded your behavior earlier, so if you repeat your actions again, then I will give the recording to the principal or spread it to social media. And you will become famous and expelled from school. Do I make myself clear?" Tenzo said casually.
Kabuto and his two friends nodded in resignation.
"Good. Sakura, sai, let's go home. Naruto is waiting for us in the car." said Tenzo smiling. Meanwhile Sakura and Sai were still gawking, not believing that Tenzo could easily paralyze Kabuto and his friends.
When they got home, Tenzo compressed Sai's arm which was bruised from the grip of Kabuto's friends.
"Does it still hurt?" Tenzo asked. Sai shook his head.
"Okay. Wait here a second. I'll make you something..." Tenzo stood up and walked out of Sai's room. Not long after, Tenzo came carrying a mug.
"I make a hot chocolate. It will make you so much better. Try it." Tenzo said while thrusting the mug towards Sai. Sai accepted it and hesitantly drank it.
"How is it? Good?" Tenzo asked.
Sai nodded. "Thanks..." he said.
Tenzo smiled.
"I mean...thanks a lot...for...saving me...and sakura..."
"No problem..." answered Tenzo. "So, may I know, since when do you like drawing, Sai? Tenzo asked while looking at Sai's drawings that were stuck on the wall of his room.
"Since I could hold a pencil..." Sai answered.
"Really? Amazing! I've always been the weakest in drawing lessons. In fact, every time I see my drawings, my sister always says, 'Even kindergarten kids can draw better than you, Tenzo.'" said Tenzo, shaking his head and putting his hands on his hips, imitating his sister's style.
Sai laughed looking at Tenzo. Meanwhile, Tenzo just stared.
"Um...what's wrong?" Sai asked.
"Wow... this is the first time I've seen you laugh, Sai. It turns out you're 1000 times more handsome when you laugh..." said Tenzo. Sai's face immediately turned red and he became embarrassed.
"By the way tenzo, may I ask you something?"
"Sure.."
"In your opinion, what is something simple but beautiful?"
"Why did you ask me that?"
"Today I got a drawing assignment with a simple but beautiful theme. But I haven't found an idea..."
"Um....something that simple but beautiful...let me think....Ah, I know!"
"What is that?"
"Sunset!"
"Why sunset?"
"Because in my hometown I live near the beach, so every afternoon I can see how a large orange circle slowly seems to enter the sea surface... Believe me, the view is veeery beautiful."
Sai is fascinated by Tenzo's story. "Actually, I've never seen a sunset myself. But that's okay, I'll imagine it and draw it."
"Good! Is there anything else I can help you?"
"No. Thanks, Tenzo..."
"Anytime, Sai..." said Tenzo smiling. "I think now I have to see Sakura..." Tenzo got up and walked out of Sai's room.
When approaching Sakura's room, Tenzo heard a sound...crying... The door to Sakura's room was slightly open. Tenzo tapped it lightly.
"Sakura...are you okay?"
Sakura was indeed crying. She quickly wiped her tears so it wouldn't be seen by Tenzo.
"Are you crying?"
Sakura was silent, did not answer. Tenzo walked over to Sakura who was sitting on her bed and knelt in front of her.
"What happened? Are you hurt?"
Sakura was still silent.
"It's okay...you can talk to me..." said Tenzo softly.
"Am I...ugly, tenzo?"
"What? Why do you ask like that?
"Because...my forehead..."
"Your forehead? Nothing's wrong with your forehead, sakura.."
"But Kabuto call me bigforehead... And not only him, other kids at school always make fun of my forehead, they always say that it's super wide then they laugh... Sasuke also laughs..."
"Sasuke?"
"My classmate...honestly...I like him...but today I saw he also laughed at me when the others made fun of my forehead..." Sakura looked down and sobbed...
Tenzo sighed, then held Sakura's shoulder. "Look at me, Sakura.."
Sakura raised her face.
"There are two wonderful women I've ever met in my life. First is my sister who gave all of her time, energy, and love raising me since I was born..." said Tenzo while wiping tears from sakura cheeks.
"And the second, is a beautiful young lady who is always honest, smart, so strong, and very brave protecting her brother..." said Tenzo while taking the ribbon on the table next to Sakura's bed. Tenzo put the ribbon on Sakura's head so it looked like a headband, then smoothed Sakura's bangs. "Well, that is the beautiful young lady..." said Tenzo as he moved to sit next to Sakura and pointed at the mirror in front of them.
Sakura looked at herself in the mirror. She has always covered her forehead with bangs. But the ribbon that Tenzo tied and the bangs that Tenzo tidied made Sakura look more beautiful.
"You don't have to hide that, sakura. No matter what they say, you are definitely beautiful. Because beauty doesn't come from physics. It comes from your heart. Physics will easily change. But your kind and brave heart will last forever, and that is the true beauty..." said Tenzo.
"But...Sasuke...."
"Never mind. I am sure that one day, the right person who truly accepts you and loves you just the way you are will come to you.." Tenzo smiled and put his right hand on Sakura's shoulder.
Slowly a smile appeared on Sakura's lips. "Thank you, Tenzo..."
"You're welcome."
That evening, after preparing dinner, Tenzo's cell phone rang. Kakashi called.
"Hello tenzo....I am affraid I will go home late, because the meeting hasn't finished yet...Would you mind waiting there until I arrived at home?"
"No problem sir..."
"I'm really sorry for making you go home late..."
"It's okay sir, I will take care of the kids..."
"Thanks, Tenzo..."
"Anytime, sir..."
So after the kids had dinner, Tenzo finished washing the dishes, Tenzo went into Naruto's room
"Okay Naruto, time to sleep..."
"Would you like to read a story to me, Tenzo?"
"Story?"
"Yes..." Naruto took some story books from his desk.
"Alright..." said Tenzo while sitting on Naruto's bed.
"I also want to hear the story..." said Sakura who was standing near Naruto's room door.
"Don't!" Naruto said. Sakura immediately pouted.
Tenzo laughed "It's okay Naruto. Come here, Sakura."
Sakura immediately sat next to Tenzo.
"Do you want to listen to the story too, Sai..." asked Tenzo. Sai also appeared with a reluctant expression.
"Come in..." said Tenzo. Sai came in and sat on Naruto's bed.
At 9 pm Kakashi arrived home. When he entered, there was no one downstairs. Kakashi put his bag and things on the sofa and went up to the second floor. He saw Sakura and Sai's room door open, but they were not in their room. Kakashi then went to Naruto's room where the door was half closed. He opened the door slowly and was surprised...
Tenzo sat leaning back in the middle of the bed, holding and hugging Naruto who was already asleep, while Sakura fell asleep on Tenzo's right side with her head resting on his shoulder, as did Sai on his left. The five story books that Tenzo had read were lying on the bed. Kakashi was truly surprised to see it, and touched at the same time. His kids had never been so close to nannies before.
Tenzo, who was half asleep, realized that someone had entered the room, and was surprised because it turned out to be Kakashi. Spontaneously he opened his eyes wide. Kakashi moved closer to the bed.
"It's okay. I will remove them..." said Kakashi. He then carried Sakura and moved her to her bed. Then carried Sai and moved him to his bed. Then turned on the light in their room and closed the door. When he returned to Naruto's room, he saw Tenzo laying Naruto on his bed and covering him with a blanket. Kakashi approached and turned off the lamp next to Naruto's bed. The two of them then left the room and went downstairs.
"Can I go home now, sir?"
"Sure you may. But I will take you home..."
"Oh...you don't need to do that, sir. I can go home by myself..."
"No, it's okay. I'll take you. This is also an apology for making you come home so late and a thank you for taking care of my kids... Please, let me drive you home..." said Kakashi.
"Alright then, sir..." answered Tenzo with a smile.
Half an hour later, Kakashi's car arrived in front of a coffee shop called Senju Cafe.
"You live here?" Kakashi asked.
"Yes sir. This is my aunt's cafe. I live here and I also work here on Saturdays and Sundays, when I'm not working at your house, sir..."
"Oh...I see. Umm...may I come here someday...taste the coffee here?"
"Of course you may, sir."
"Great! I will come."
"Thanks sir. I think I'm going to go inside, sir. Thank you so much for driving me home..." said Tenzo while nodding.
"No problem. I should be the one thanking you..."
"See you tomorrow, sir..." Tenzo got out of the car, closed the door, then bowed towards Kakashi. Kakashi nodded and started the car. From the rearview mirror, he could still see Tenzo standing there until the car turned.
While driving his car home, Kakashi thought. Even though at first he doubted Tenzo's abilities, now he feels that Tenzo's presence in his family brings many good things and warmth.
So far, the three children have never gotten along with the nannys. But tenzo is different. In a short time his three children became very close to him. The scene where Tenzo fell asleep while hugging Naruto, and Sakura and Sai who slept leaning against him was truly very impressive and touched Kakashi's heart.
Moreover, Tenzo is good at cooking, reliable, humble, and always cheerful. And honestly, he is quite pretty. His wide eyes, his beautiful brunet long hair, his smile, his smell, his voice,...
Wait...wait...it seems like another feeling emerged in Kakashi's heart. A feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. A feeling he had buried deep since Rin left. Could it be that what Genma said was true, that love is in the air now?
To be continued :)

October 7, 1809
Gothenburg, October 7, 1809. Slept last evening at ———, where we arrived at 11, the family all in bed. The maid got up, made us fire, got an excellent supper, and clean beds, and all with a cheerfulness which gave value to our supplies. Our last coachman was again a girl; a very pretty girl of about 16. She drove us most rapidly, and with boldness and skill. Sam himself could not have done better; nor here so well, for it was very dark. She returned immediately, having a horse to lead. We had ordered horses at 5 this morning. At 6 we set off, and got here (fourteen miles) at 1/2 p. 8. Drove to the post-house. Not a room or bed to be had; not even a place to sit down and take breakfast. We were cold and hungry, and were till 10 cruising about town before we could get admission into a house. We engaged a room, i.e., one corner of it, for it was a public room, for two hours, with promise of breakfast. We ate so enormously that we were charged 1 1/2 rix dollars each for our breakfast, being just three times the usual price. Wrote notes to Lord Nordenschold¹ and young Damon, requesting aid to procure lodgings, as we must otherwise go into the street at 12. Neither of them came ; but my indefatigable companion found two decent rooms at 27 Torg Gatan,² two trappar upp!³ at 10 1/2 rix dollars per week, more than double the price of Stockholm. This place is just now very full of strangers, particularly English. There were more than twenty of them in and out of the room while we were breakfasting, God-damning everything that was not exactly as in England. Got settled in our quarters by 1 o'clock, and sent my letters to the Governor and to others, with a card in each, a la mode soedoise,⁴ a mode which I approve. Now, I engage that neither of the three takes the least notice of the letter or card. Sent my card also to the Lieutenant N. Called at Edin's, where I lodged on my arrival here from England in May, to see the family. La belle M. is much altered. Very thin and eruption a la figure.⁵ Wrote to Captain Van Alen and to Gransbom q.v. by the mail. Took tea at 7, having dined at our enormous breakfast. Our hostess speaks English, being of an English mother. Is neat, active, obliging. In the afternoon walked with Lüning to the port, about two English miles. Missed the way and walked double the distance. Laughed at Luning's distress at passing through some ill-looking alleys and streets. Sent card this evening, with my address, to General Consul Gram, who is still here. You may recollect that I saw him about ten days ago, and that he undertook to procure passports for me from the Danish government, to be sent to Helsingborg, so that I might not be detained there.
1 One of several unsuccessful attempts to spell Nordenskjöld. 2 Market Street. 3 Two flights up, i.e., third story. 4 After the Swedish fashion. 5 For eruption a la figure. The face broken out.

A deep sigh leaves your mouth as you close the door behind you. Finally at home. Your day was awful. Real torture. Pure horror. You take your shoes off your feet and shuffle wearily into the living room.
You're in the middle of your exam month and immersed in books, scripts, seminar papers and exercises that you must read and do every day until late at night - and of course you still must study for your exams at the same time. You are so tired and even though you know that you still have some work to do around the house (you are sure that yesterday's dishes are still in the sink), you drop onto the couch in the living room and close your tired eyes.
“Just a few minutes” you try to convince yourself. Just a few minutes. Then you need to finish your essay for tomorrow’s university seminar, take a shower, do the dishes and you need to cook dinner since Jannik will finally come home from visiting his parents in Italy.
You smile at the thought of your boyfriend whom you haven't seen for a fortnight now since you couldn’t attend the last tournament he played and couldn’t join his trip to South Tyrol. You missed him so much and couldn’t wait to finally have him back home with you and to hug him, kiss him and cuddle with him when falling asleep. And with an image of a smiling Jannik before your inner eyes, you slowly doze off.
The next thing you know, there's a soft clatter of plates and the smell of delicious food in the air. Confused, you sit up on the couch and the fluffy blanket slips off your shoulders - when did you tuck yourself in? You frown and get up to make your way to the kitchen, unable to stifle a deep yawn.
In the kitchen, you are greeted by the low hum of the dishwasher being switched on, pasta is simmering on the cooker and Jannik is leaning against the kitchen sideboard. "Did you sleep well, my love?" he smiled at you and your heart skips a beat. Jannik closes the distance between you two with a few big steps, now standing in front of you.
"Jannik?" you blink at your boyfriend in a questioning way, while you smile at him brightly, "What are you doing here already? You weren't supposed to come until 7 o'clock in the evening?" The Italian chuckles softly and pushes a strand of hair out of your face: "It's already half past eight. "What?" you say, startled, "I've been asleep for three hours?!" your eyes get big, "Why didn't you wake me up?!"
“You were sleeping so peacefully. I couldn't bring myself to wake you up, my love. I know you've been so stressed the last few days…you need that sleep.”
"But...but...I had so much to do before you come home: my essay, the dishes, I wanted to cook your favourite food and…and…” you pause with your words, suddenly realizing what’s happening “OMG JANNIK! YOU’RE BACK!” you almost literally jump on your boyfriend and wrap your arms around his neck.
Jannik laughs at your reaction and returns your hug, "I missed you so much, my dear." "I missed you too! So so much!” you lean back a little to look Jannik in the eye “I couldn't wait to have you back home, “But I really wanted to get some things done beforehand: Clean up, finish my essay, cook, take a shower and...I actually wanted to put on a little make-up - the dark circles under my eyes aren't pretty at all.” you bite your lip and sigh quietly.
Your boyfriend doesn't say anything in response but pushes a hand under your chin to lift your head a bit so he can look at you: "You really haven't slept enough lately. You're already hallucinating and seem to really think that I don't always find you beautiful in every situation." You couldn’t help but blush and at the same time you couldn’t stop smiling, “You’re an idiot.”
Jannik slowly brings his face closer to yours: "Maybe. But at least I'm your idiot." and finally places his lips on yours.
*** *** *** ***
After an amazing dinner, Jannik manoeuvres you back into the living room onto the couch: "Ok, I've got your favourite tea here and the biscuits my mum gave me."
You look at him and shake your head, "Jannik, you don't have to do this! Please stop this! I already have a guilty conscience that I didn't do anything-”
He interrupts you with a quick move of his hand and puts a finger to your lips to stop you from talking, “Don't you dare finish that sentence! I know how stressful the exam month at uni is for you and that you have to do way too much every day."
"And you played an exhausting tournament last week and-"
"And now my mother spoilt me for four days with too much to eat and all the other stuff.” he runs a hand through his red hair and grins slyly at you, “I'm fine, Y/N.”
You aren’t very happy with his comment, but you didn’t say anything and sip your tea instead, eyeing him.
"But there is one thing I would like!"
"And what is that?" you raise an eyebrow and and puts your cup on the coffee table.
Jannik says nothing in reply but stretches out on the large couch and spreads his arms invitingly.
Immediately you are in his arms, cuddling up to him and resting your head on his chest while he puts his arms around you.
And you never felt more at home.
You close your eyes and listen to his calming heartbeat, “I really missed you.” your voice only quiet, “There is so much going on these days, university is killing me. So much to do and so little time. And I didn’t sleep properly.” you feel Jannik slowly stroking through your hair , “Partly because I have so much on my mind to think about and get done, partly because I just can't sleep that well without you next to me.”
Jannik presses a gentle kiss on your hair , “If that's the case, then you can sleep well again from today, because I'm here now. And we'll handle your university stuff, too. Together. I don't know that much about the topics, but I can help you. The essay you need to write, we'll do it together tomorrow morning. We can do it, Y/N.”, he reaches for your hand and squeezes it lightly.
“Thank you, Jannik.” you intertwine the fingers of your hand with his and bury your face in the crook of his neck, “I love you.”
“I love you too, Y/N”

I had the idea a while ago "what if there was a PreCure series with the same basic plot as your average Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Stardew Valley type farming sim" and from there, Garden Variety PreCure was born!! I am slowly teaching myself Ren'Py so someday I might make this into a real thing, but for now it's just some character concepts and basic plot ideas, which I'll put under a readmore because this post is long enough already lol. But for now, here are the player character and her four love interests!
Juniper "Junie" MacDonald/Cure Orchard: a sweet, cheerful woman in her mid-twenties, Juniper inherits her grandfather's farm after he suddenly passes away and throws away her unhappy life in the city to start over again in the small town of Bellcrest. She's a bit naive and responds to stress by crying, but she has a big heart and is always thinking of others. Juniper is very social and loves to gossip, and she also loves fashion. By tapping into the power of the land, she can transform into Cure Orchard. She is the player character.
Raine Stellato/Cure Sunburst: a low-key, calm woman in her early twenties. Raine has lived in Bellcrest her whole life and is training to one day take over the local general store ("Stella's") from her great-uncle. She doesn't say much, content to just sit back and listen, but this often leads to people thinking she's not paying attention. Raine loves art and animals and spends most of her time away from the shop painting landscapes and taking care of strays. By tapping into the power of the sky, she can transform into Cure Sunburst. She is a potential love interest for Juniper.
River Park/Cure Seafoam: a boisterous, easygoing man in his mid-twenties. River moved to Bellcrest in his early teens and opened his fishery ("Fish Forward") when he was 19. He has a very relaxed attitude, sometimes to his own detriment since it can cause him to forget or avoid important things. River spends a lot of time working out, but he's fairly clumsy and often hurts himself while doing so. He also sews and knits a lot of his own clothes. By tapping into the power of the sea, he can transform into Cure Seafoam. He is a potential love interest for Juniper.
Cypher "Cy" Magnus: a surly, enigmatic person of indeterminate age. Originally from another world called the Field of Life, Cy has lived in Bellcrest for the last few years, running an antique shop/jack of all trades business ("The Broken Hourglass"). Secretly, they're also a wizard who has been trying to keep the nefarious Eclipse Corporation out of Bellcrest. They tend to be pretty grouchy and talk around what they mean, however when they get excited they start speaking quickly and over-explaining everything. Cy tends to do handiwork for fun and is constantly adding rooms to their shop/house/wizard tower. They are a potential love interest for Juniper.
Elizabeth "Libby" Pearl: a shy, passionate woman in her mid-twenties. Libby grew up in Bellcrest, went away to university, and came back demanding that the town build a proper library. She got her wish, and has since been installed as the only employee of the library/archives/museum/school ("Bellcrest Learning Center"). She's awkward around people she doesn't know, but tries to be friendly, and when she wants something badly enough she dives in headfirst. Libby is a hopeless romantic who loves romance novels, movies, and TV shows. She's a skilled writer as well, though none of her planned novels have lasted more than a few chapters. She is a potential love interest for Juniper.
