There was something odd in the air, and Leona could smell it. He looked up from his nap spot in the botanical garden, hearing two pairs of footsteps approaching.

" Get away from me! What the hell is wrong with you?!?" Ruggie's voice yelled at someone, and he could hear some form of panic in his voice.

" Ruggie-sempai, wait!!! Don't leave meeeee!" Leona could hear his own voice from behind Ruggie. His eyes widened and his expression soured. Who the hell was turning into him and fucking around? They were about to damn well find out once Leona got his hands on them.

The hyena emerged from the foliage, having to run around Leona to avoid tripping over him, and giving a quick, " Sorry, Leona-" he did a double take, " LEONA?"

" Ruggie, what the hell is going on-" he growled out right before the second person did, in fact, trip over him. The thwarted pursuer hit the ground face first with a yowl, ruining his perfect uniform. He shakily sat up, and then promptly began to bawl his eyes out like a child. Both Ruggie and Leona made a face, the sound of such cub-like wailing made disturbing by the fact that it was in the lion's deep, mature voice.

" HEY! Cut that out!" Leona snapped at the imitator.

The other lion whirled around, his eyes round and watery as he cried, " I'm sorry!! Please don't hit me!" but his crying was halted with a curious tilt of his head, " Gee, mister. You look just like me!"

Leona looked him over, unsure whether to feel offended, disgusted, or pissed. The collar of his now soiled uniform was one of those frilly ones, the kind Rosehearts wears, and his tie was made into a very messy and childish bow, and his green shoes looked exactly like one of the pairs Cheka had at home.

" Is your name Leona too? Can we be friends?!?" he scooted closer, bright eyed and excited.

Leona scowled, " You could go to prison for impersonating a member of the royal family, idiot. Drop that stupid disguise now." he commanded firmly.

That started up the waterworks again, " B-B-But I am a member of the royal family! I'm Leona Kingscholar!"

" Like hell you are, you little shit. You're just some Heartslabyul brat, arent you? I'm telling you, scamper back to the alchemy lab and undo whatever you did to yourself before you make an idiot outta me," he growled lowly.

" WAAAH! YOU'RE SO MEAN!!!" cried this other Leona, " I just wanted to be friends! Everything here is WEIRD! I went to class but Trien-sensei was mean and boring and Ruggie-senpai tried giving me meat and Ashengrotto-sama had normal LEGS and- and- and Riddle-kun yelled at me when I asked why he was dressed so nice today and Idia-chan ran away from me!" he clenched his shirt in his balled fists, stomping his foot as he hyperventilated.

Leona was utterly confused, " The hell do you mean? None of those are out of the ordinary. I'd be more concerned if those weren't the case."

Now both lions were confused, " You look just like me, and we have the same name, but you're really different from me. You're not nice at all," he admitted.

" I dunno, but your situation is sounding like the Prefect's," Leona stated, " The two of you are definitely in the same boat, you really aren't from around here."

" But I am from here! I'm a student!" he protested.

" Who's the headmage?"

" Ugh, Crowley-sensei. He's the meanest teacher I've ever met. I got lost once and I asked him for help and he hit me," the other Leona pouted at the memory. Judging by his expression, it's probably the only time he had ever been hit, and it shows.

" Not my problem, but that's all I needed to know. Go to the really shabby, sorta greenish dorm. Looks like a haunted house, can't miss it," Leona instructed.

His eyes lit up, " They can help me?? Aww, you really ARE nice!"

" Shut the fuck up, I can't stand to look at you or listen to you for a second longer or I will snap from how much of a baby you are," he snapped, " Now grow a pair and fuck off quietly."

And with that, he ran off very not-quietly, by crying. Leona's eye twitched in annoyance, his reputation was about to get ruined.

It was routine at this point. Titans invaded more often than ever, the walls meant nothing.

You should´ve seen it coming, should´ve been more prepared.

But then again, all you ever did was train and watch out, still you were never prepared and you doubted you ever would be.

Then came the rage, wasn´t it the job of the others to ensure your safety? Why did you even build the walls if everyone knew that they´d be destroyed one way or the other?

It was no wonder people in high positions couldn´t control the civilians anymore.

You were a soldier like anyone else, nothing special, fighting to protect the people that would be killed in another week.

It all seemed pointless and you all knew it was.

But what the fuck were you supposed to do about it? There was nothing else to do but try.

Sure, the situation was hopeless but that didn´t mean you had to be.

At least you could keep up the attitude to calm down the citizens.

Death was always a companion to you, striking down your comrades you promised you wouldn´t get attached to since it would only bring you pain.

Every single one of you was going to die. It was only a matter of time.

But still you couldn´t help yourself, why did everyone have to be so nice?

Especially Jean…

You never would´ve imagined to fall in love in those times, living a life that was more fleeting than anything. But here you were, in his arms, the day before your next mission.

Everything was peaceful. For now that was.

The utter darkness inside of the titan, you could hear the screams outside, Jean calling your name, though it all was muffled.

You couldn´t move a lot in its stomach, it was filled with heads and limbs and some half alive corpses, the air was more than just damp, cutting at your throat. If you didn´t do something soon, you would end up like them.

Jean felt utterly helpless, watching you get eaten. He couldn´t move and slashed at the titan but no matter what he did, it wouldn´t let you go.

It was useless, he knew you were probably dead by now but he couldn´t let that happen. He wouldn´t.

If he couldn´t even protect you was he even any good of a soldier? He highly doubted it.

In the end he never has been cut out for the job… he didn´t save anyone like he was supposed to, he just slowed everyone down.

Connie tried to pull him away, tugged at him, but it was no use. He wouldn´t move.

Jean kept trying to rescue you, to get to you.

Meanwhile you were searching for your knife in your pockets, you would get out on your own, this wouldn´t be the end of your story.

After a while you finally found it and gripped it tightly, your hands were covered in more fluids than just sweat and you didn´t dare look down on them.

Determined you dashed forward, closing your eyes and slashing its stomach from the inside, bursting out of it into Jean´s arms.

You couldn´t even cry, your eyes were wide and you just knew that you both would need a lot of time to overcome the trauma that came from this experience.

Right now you were just glad you two were alive, that was more than you bargained for, more than good enough.

Blanche - doesn't seem to be down for ~feelings~ or at least ADMITTING THEM so if he were to do either I'm guessing it would be a night out at 79s not a date. would he want to go with you to 79s or would he want it to be a squad only thing? I think he'd be pretty intent on keeping you separate from the squad if he could help it. Mainly bc I think he has so many demands that he just wants one (1) thing for himself but he also wants to do it in a way where he isn't ACTUALLY GIVING HIMSELF TO YOU BC HES DUMB AND PUSHES YOU AWAY so my guess is he'd do neither would go out with the boys and then find you after to... U kno.... Fuck u through a wall... Bc if he can't have you then he can at least make it MEMORABLE FOR BITH OF U

Blue - definitely wants to go on a date. also wants to go to 79s with you. Wants to do everything with you???? I just think he'd drop everything if he could and would be like yes let's do literally anything as long as I am with you. A literal angel who I lub.

Jaws - date DATE D A TE NI G H T. Bump going out he wants to date you. He wants to date you hard. He wants to do all of the dumb dates he's seen in holodramas. He wants to walk you to the door of your apartment. He wants you to ask him up to your room for... Tea. Caf. Fucking whatever as long as he can bridal style carry you into your bedroom. Once you're in the bedroom tho that's when we are no longer in a holo drama but a BAD PORNO IF U KNO WHAT I MEAN

Sweets - b a b y. I feel like this would be tricky. Probably wouldn't want to go to 79s with you but would also be very stressed™ about going on a date with you. I think he'd really want to go on a date but would be so overwhelmed and unsure of what to do with himself. I think you would have to just suggest doing things together and not call it a date. Like take him to candy shops but not call it a date or maybe if there is a zoo or someplace with animals tell him you really want to go there and oh sweets do you want to come with meeeee. And then later he gets back to the barracks and the bois are like w o w sweets dates y'all and sweets is like... Sweets.exe has stopped working "tHAt wAS a DATE BUT I DIDNT OVERTHINK THE ENTIRE TIME" and then I fink he wants to go on dates with you all the time after that 💖💖💖

Kami - 79s all the way baby. Not only bc he wants to drink and have fun with the squad and you, but a l s o bc you two should go check out the fresher together. Maybe inspect the structural integrity of that wall in the back... Vigorously. Maybe make sure the supply closet is secure. M a y b e make sure the booth cushions are gonna hold up... For Science. I think eventually if you ever got to the point of getting a confession a REAL ONE out of him he'd want to go on all the dates but until then I think wacky hijinks in 79s is all you're gonna get... Not that we mind that 👀

Fuse - o fuse baby definitely no dates. Nothing even remotely resembling a date. If he smells date activity or feelings then he is o u t. I think he'd go to 79s with you but I al so feel like he would ditch you at some point NOT BC HE DOESNT WANT TO BE WITH YOU BUT BC HE THINKS YOU SHOULD FIND AOMEONE ELSE THE LITERAL DUMBASS definitely think he would mainly limit your interactions to quick fucks and that's it (u already talked about him breaking things off with you and how that would happen and how you would come back together and I CANNOT IMPROVE UPON PERFECTION)

Bruiser - kinda like blue I feel like he would be down to do anything as long as you're with him. 79s? Y es. Date? Also yes. Mainly I think this would come down to you. He wants to know what you want to do. He also definitely wants to fuck you whether it's after date night or after a night at 79s there is no hiding how much that man wants it 👀 he is looking respectfully JK HE WANTS TO F U CK he would not be shy about that. Void - MY M A N. okay so I think that void would want to do neither. Esp when the war is going on. Maybe after the war things could be different. But all he wants to do is have a Nice Night In okay! just finished writing this and realized how long it got oh jeez i am so sorry. i promise it is just me rambling about nothing and does not require a lot of thought.

i made a playlist of r5's entire discography and am listening to it (in order) because there is something wrong with me. if only it had their very first ever ep on it (ready set rock ep you may have been slight garbage but i don't love you any less for it). oh god i realized i fucked up and didn't add the songs by "ross lynch and r5" from the austin & ally soundtrack. i'm already three songs into louder and they would have been between louder and say you'll stay. what do i have to do is actually one of r5's best songs and i'm pretty sure i remember ross calling it one of his favs fairly recently?? which was so valid of him. anyways. this is now an r5 song ranking. i'm bored and avoiding doing assignments. i'm going to name my top 10 r5 songs off the top of my head. source: me trying to remember every song they've ever released.

no. 1: easy love. nothing comes close. my fav song they ever made. they haven't made anything that even compares since (this is /hj. tde has some valid songs).

no. 2: wishing i was 23. what do you mean i only love this song because of my nostalgia bias no i don't.

no. 3: what do i have to do? i will not elaborate i do not know why i adore this song as much as i do it's just a cute song.

no. 4: repeating days. THE END. THE FUCKING END AFTER THE SONG ENDS THE "all i've got is cheap wine" PART ross sounds so vulnerable and him with just the guitar makes me so :(((((( it's so gorgeous that part makes the whole song and that makes it top 3 for me.

no. 5: i want u bad. THAT SONG FUCKS LIVE. I DO NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT I WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE IT LIVE AGAIN. (speaking of concerts i can't believe you bought concert tix and fucking forgot??? that is actually so fucking funny bella it made me laugh i will not lie)

no. 6: dark side. so so valid of them. it just fucks. it's so good. it makes u want to dance. u named a fic after a lyric from it which was so valid.

no. 7: did you have your fun? i love this song. no i will not elaborate. it is a sexy song. what's that one lyric from it that's hot. "love me, leave me, left me numb" some lyrics you love for no particular reason and for me that's one of those lyrics.

no. 8: f.e.e.l.g.o.o.d. this has alwayysss been one of my favs by them. since it dropped. some lore about it: the like crowd yelling that's in it they recorded live at a festival they played and i remember there being hype about this being an unreleased song when they had the crowd chanting "f-e-e-l-g-o-o-d" with no explanation. also another fun fact is that the final version of this is just a demo?? source: my slightly faulty memory remembering ross saying something about some demos being so good that you keep them as they are and it later being revealed this was the song he was talking about.

no. 9: i know you got away. sexy song. they released a vocals only version of it (that has apparently since been deleted?? i went to look for it on youtube and couldn't find it?? wtf r5) that has stuck with me ever since.

no. 10: loud. but more specifically the acoustic or live version. this was their encore song that they played to end every show. i MISS IT. it holds a special place in my heart.

honorable mentions: hurts good (a good song and THEIR LAST THEY EVER RELEASED VV SAD), wild hearts (fun fact almost picked a lyric from this song as my senior quote till i found out they didn't write this song), fallin' for you (YOU LIKE MISMATCHED SOCKS WITH POLKA DOTS YOU LIKE YOUR PIZZA COLD I THINK THATS HOT i never saw this song live and i'm still fucking pissed about it ok), do it again (it's such a sweet song :(((( "listen to the airplanes as we count the stars" gives me the same vibes as six feet under the stars), things are looking up (generally just a cute song!! this whole ep is just very good and very cute!! when i saw it live one time during the bridge ross was like "everyone shut up this is my favorite part >:(" and that was so valid of him) i can't say i'm in love (it's just a fun song!! it was a bonus track on sln from another country), trading time (this is the only song from the new addictions ep that i listed and u know what i'm Not sorry)

ok. i will spare you and stop rambling. other honorable mentions: if you have never listened to cool girl (feat. the driver era) by new beat fund i highly recommend. it's an okay song but it was one of the first songs released after they rebranded as tde and includes ross saying motherfucker with his whole chest. i will never again feel what i felt the first time i heard that song having listened exclusively to them as r5 whose songs they couldn't curse in because they were on a disney label.

in conclusion. i miss r5. ross saying fuck is kinda hot. i listened to the entirety of louder while writing this. i am sorry to dump this in your askbox. i still have multiple assignments to do and should probably go to sleep at a decent time. it feels fitting to finally stop writing while easy love is on. when i was 12 and this ep came out i thought "dirtbags" was a curse word and was scared to sing it. they changed it to "douchebags" live.

Chapter 43

We came around a tree and two woman jumped up one woth long brown hair am d another with short blonde hair.

"You found us, okay? Here we are. We earned what we took." The girl with brown hair said.

I heard another twig snap and as me and Daryl went to turn around a man came up hitting both of us with a thick branch knocking us both out.

I opened my eyes to see it was dark out. There was a fire going with two woman and a man sitting on the other side of it. I started going in and out of consciousness. When I came to again I saw the woman with brown hair shoving my crossbow into a bag they were talking but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I ended up falling back into unconsciousness.

When I finally came to again the man was in front of me. "Hey, get up. Hey, get up" he said.

I was proped up against a tree MY hands tied in front of me.

"Where moving" The guy said point a gun at me. I just glared at him then it dawned on me Nikyla was with me.

"Where is she?" He growled.

"Where is who?" The guy asked.

"The girl! Where she is?! I'll kill ya if ya hurt her!" Daryl growled.

"She's fine she's over there" the guy said. I looked over where he was pointing to see Nikyla laying on her side still knocked out.

"You don't say shit and I won't have to" the guy told him.

"We ain't who ya think" Daryl told him.

"Say something else. Go ahead." The guy said pointing the gun at my head. He grabbed me by the front of my shirt and pulled me up to hmy feet.

"Follow them." He said.

"I ain't goin no where til she's awake" I said.

The man lead him over to you "get her up or I kill her" he told me.

I glared at him but knelt down. "Hey, Nik. Wake up" I said and nudged her with my tied hands.

"Hmmm" shehummed.

"Come on. Time to get up Nik." I told her.

She opened your eyes "Daryl?" She said.

"Yeah, it's me. I need ya ta get up" I said. She looked up at me and noticed my hand were tied. Her eyes widen and she shot up seeing a man with blonde hair and the two woman behind me. She looked down to see her hands were tied together as well.

I stood up helping her get up the best the I could. "It's gonna be okay" I told her. She stood up looking at him then at the blonde haired man, she walked over and started to walk behind the two woman.

"Here, drink the rest." The brown haired woman said handing the other girl a bottle of water.

"We should save it." The blonde woman said.

"We'll find some more. Drink. You're supposed to stay hydrated. It all works together." The brown haired woman told her.

"Yeah, it does." The girl said and drank the water. She handed the battle back and then the woman took it handing it to me "here take it" she said but I ignored her. The blonde guy took it walking over to me.

"We don't need you falling down. Drink." The guy said.

I took it walking over to Nick "here drink" I said.

She took the bottle drinking some of it and giving it back to me.I took it drinking the rest of the water.

"They find us, maybe we give you to them, they let us call it even. You see, we're reasonable people. Everybody's got their code. You feel you gotta kneel, that's fair enough. We don't." The guy said.

Nik looked at me mouthing "What the fuck?" I just shrugged my shoulders.

"let's go" the guy said taking the bottle and handed it back to the woman. He went to grab Nik but I wasn't having any of that.

"Don't touch her!" He growled.

"Come on" Isaid looking at her and she walked over to me and started to follow the two women.

"Who do you think we are?" Nik asked As we walked through the blackened burnt forest. No one answered and just kept walking. She were in front of me and behind the blonde girl.

"Can't believe were back" she said.

"Its not home anymore. But it's better then where we were" the brown haired girl told her.

"This is a pit stop. We pick up Patty nothing more than that." The guy says.

"How'dyou do it?" The blonde girl asks.

"You saw where I left the truck? We opened the valve and drove all the way in from Farmview Road. Ran from the tree line till we got to the pavement. Lit up a matchbook from the Sweetwater and dropped it in on the trail.

Then we just ran for the car. Got in and the dead ones were there. They were beating on the hood, and then-- and then boom! Knocked 'em on their asses and I took an axe to each one." The guy told her.

"Then we just watched it go up. No more moans, no more of that wailing. It was just the fire, just burning them all away." The brown haired girl said.

Nik and I listened looking around at the chard blackened burnt trees, forest floor and bodies.

"You did all this?" I asked.

"It was right at the start. Everything stopped-- the TV, the radio. We were here. The forest was full of them. And the other ones in town, they were drawn to it. They just walked right into the flames. We got most of them. Thought we ended it for us, and she was in DC. We thought everyone was fighting them wherever they were." The brown haired woman said.

"Yeah, we thought that was what everybody was doing. Fighting it. That we'd all win together. We were stupid." The guy said.

Nikyla and I stopped "Y'all don't think you're being stupid right now?" I asked.

The guy walked over to me putting the gun in my face. "Are you saying I should kill you? I mean it, are you gonna try and pull something on us? Are we just being thick here by not removing all doubt? Right now, by me not pulling this trigger, is that a mistake? I'm serious. I really wanna know. You made a choice to kill for someone else, to have them own you for a roof over your head and three squares, so maybe I'm not considering all aspects here. You tell me, am I being stupid?" The guy said.

I looked at him calmly you how ever were freaking out inside. "No. Look, I got somewhere to be. We can make a deal. We can help you out." I said.

"You're one of them. You're hurt and you're alone and you'd say anything. We should've never trusted you people to begin with." The guy said.

"Go on. Keep moving." He told the both of us. We kept walking until we were out of the burnt forest and came out to a small field to see a fence with rigs and walkers behind it.

"Son of a bitch." The guy said walking towards the fence with the two women. The walkers growled and slowly walked closer to the fence.

"Patty." The guy says.

"She could be..." brown haired girl started.

"No, she's gone.the guy told her. Nik and I just stood back watching them.

"Then we make another plan." Brown haired girl says.

"Yeah, we get out of here, that's the plan." The guy tells her.

"Then that's the plan." She says.

"You guys didn't have to do this for me." The blonde girl said.

"It was the right thing for all of us." The brown haired woman told her.

"This was the right thing? Even if just you guys went back now, if you just told them that it was me..." The blonde girl started.

"No, we'll find a way. Just think about it."

"No."

"Look, maybe we don't get as far, but we'll get--" the guy started when the blonde girl fainted.

"hey! Hey, hey, hey! Tina," they both said.

I grabbed the bag. "hey! Hey, baby sister, look at me." The brown haired woman said.

"Hey, stop! No!" The guy yelled standing up shooting at me and Nik as we took off.

"Don't! We need that, please!" The woman yelled.
