A little over a year ago, someone was giving away an old sewing machine that still works. I took it, hoping that I'd have a place to set it up for Neptune and Meadow to stop using (and breaking) mine.

Since we completely reorganized the playroom last week, the desk that had been used as a dumping grounds was clear. Today, I moved the "kids' machine" from under my sewing desk up their playroom.

Showed Meadow how to thread it, how to raise/lower the foot, how to sew in reverse, and how to "steer" the fabric through.

She's been sewing lines in paper the whole afternoon - making pictures with the thread. Pretty cool.

She wants to sew her own dresses.

Strongly considering starting up an amateur radio show, in which I talk about random, interesting things that catch my fancy. I already have quite a few scripts and everything, it might be really fun. Only problem is that:

a) I don’t know anything about radios and my current one weighs half my body weight and only emits vaguely threatening bursts of static at random times,

b) It would be very difficult not slowly slip into a transatlantic accent and start talking about older and older subjects, until I end up becoming a history-themed show.

I’d love having a faceless way of talking about stuff I enjoy, and the people I’ve showed my scripts and themes seem to really enjoy the way I can use something fun and silly to give a little lesson, or state an opinion on something. Finding an outlet to just go absolutely nuts over a thing that I like would do me so much good. This is most certainly not better to be done in therapy.

The announcement ricocheted off the walls like a super bouncy ball. He grimaced, they were relentless before and now they'll be insufferable. But he had to keep his thoughts brief so he can listen out for the sounds of boots approaching. The metal grating across the facility made their steps noticeable but who knows what other technology they have around here? If they can infuse the top layer of skin with a synthetic material that can cancel light to create humans with invisibility, where does it end?

"The patient cannot escape the complex, he is wanted dead or alive. I repeat, dead or alive..."

From bad to worse. He takes each step slowly and carefully, stopping before corners to listen. He hears boots in the distance and waits for them to die down before proceeding. He approaches an open door and glances in to find an office, Dr. Lucas's office... The man who sentenced him to this life. 203 would have to deal with him another time but first, he needs to find a map. Being as slow as possible, he keeps peeking over his shoulder to make sure no one is here and goes back to looking. Drawer, shuffle, nothing. Drawer, shuffle, nothing. Drawer, shuffle, flash, burn, he screams out and clutches his knee before dropping to the floor. Blood escapes the newly made bullet hole.

Lois has always reminded me of my mom and so seeing your version of Lois, one that faces similar uphill battle when it comes to work and how you can start sanding yourself down to try and get further, is amazing and touching. Can't wait to see more of this Lois, especially as she works up the ranks!

Thank you! I think that part of Lois (becoming less of yourself in order to move ahead in an industry, especially as a woman [of color]) is so underappreciated and should be explored way more.
