Continuation/blurb/snippet from this writing prompt.
It took less than a week to get custody of the Fenton children.
Oswald expected that it wouldn’t take long with his connections, but even that turn around is faster than what he expected. He'd anticipated pulling strings, greasing palms, maybe making some threats, but before he can even think of getting things moving to do so the paperwork is signed and a social worker is calling him to sort out the travel arrangements for the kids.
It's all done local, the judge, CPS, the witnesses and lawyers, each and every one calling the town home. Each and every one pushing the case through at a speed that Oswald didn't think was possible even in the most crooked of situations. He smelled conspiracy, but not - surprisingly - a malicious one.
Amity wasn't the smallest place in the world, but it was small enough. And the Fentons were public figures, though not in the way that Jack and Maddie Fenton obviously thought they were. How long had the people of Amity been watching things go wrong for the kids? How long had they been trying - in their own, limited ability - to help? Long enough to get desperate, seemed to be the answer.
The only resistance Oswald can find as he reviewed all the information he could get ahold of, was from the Mayor - Jazz and Danny's godfather, somehow more crooked than even Gotham's elected officials as far as Oswald could tell - and the Dr's. Fenton themselves.
The Mayor was summarily denied any influence of the case by the judge on the grounds of the long standing and publicly recorded ugliness of Master's relationship with Danny - which was something else Oswald was going to have to figure out. Along with all the…ghost stuff.
Oswald wasn't sure what to make of the ghost stuff.
Honestly he was leaving it for his people to figure out and wrangle into a reasonable explanation to report to him later. It was…something, a big something, and not - as he'd originally suspected upon initial cursory research into the town - a tourist gimmick or an overly high meta population. A later problem, provided he had to co tend with it at all once the children were officially in his custody in Gotham.
The biggest issue had been the kid's parents. Or really, the biggest issue had been the shady government agency backing the kids' parents.
The Fentons were the Ghost Investigation Ward's pet mad scientists. Creating weapons and genocidal plans - against ghosts - and generally tormenting the towns' living inhabitants just as much as the undead ones. The GIW had been protecting Jack and Maddie from any repercussions of their recklessness, and were willing to butt in on an unexpected custody battle in order to keep their maniacal golden geese happily working away.
From what Oswald had heard, a representative of the GIW had shown up to convince the judge to dismiss the case, but the judge had been faster. By the time the men in all white appeared - garish and tacky in their ill fitted, bulky suits - it had been too late of course. The judge had apparently anticipated their impending appearance and had made their ruling and had everything filed tidily late the night before. Courts did not typically stay running til three in the morning, but apparently an exception had been made.
There were a great many things wrong with Amity Park - wrong in a lot of ways they were in Gotham, wrong in ways they weren't - but the people that called the place home seemed to have come to a decision on one thing: the Fenton children were not safe, and unknown or not they were trusting Oswald to get them out of there.
It was strange and a little overwhelming, for an entire population that did not know him to see him as some kind of hope. Some kind of hero.
There were many, many things wrong in Amity Park.
He tried to assure himself when everything was said and done and the kids were packed and on their way that it wasn't his problem. He was officially Jazz and Danny's guardian, in a city half a country away that even with his - nominally- cleaned up act he held a great deal of power over. He was nearly untouchable within Gotham's shadow, and no one from some half-mad town was going to be able to do anything to change that.
He made preparations though, just in case. He hadn’t gotten where he was by being stupid. The Bat could use something to chew on that wasn't one of Oswald's entirely legitimate business ventures anyway. An ethically suspect government agency that was likely to come sticking their noses in Gotham's business sooner than later would do just nicely for that, and might even earn him some kind of grace from Gotham's brooding knight without getting him in hot water with any of the city's criminal element.
All that was left at that point was actually meeting the kids in person.
His kids.
He ignored the strange, bittersweet ache that touched his heart at that. It was, after all, entirely a means of improving his reputation in the city. The kids mean an end. He'd take care of him the same he did all his people, but not any more than that.
It was just business.
If he reminded himself enough, it might even be true one day.
He suspected though, as he laid eyes on them for the first time - shadow eyed and leery, haunted in a way that ghosts couldn't manage and looking not much at all like Oswald outside the fear and the pain he did his best to forget from his own upbringing - that the point of not caring had been passed the minute he'd gotten that first call.

Apologies if Penguin is out of character, all I know about him is what I vaguely remember from TAS, what I’ve absorbed from fandom and what I tried to put together from a wiki lol.
I did this instead of sleeping last night because I couldn’t get the initial idea out of my head (which slightly defeats the purpose of making it a writing prompt so that I could just read everyone else’s wonderful thoughts and writings on the idea instead of getting side tracked from my other writing projects - again lol - but oh well).
I don’t know if I’ll write anymore, and as with everything else I post this is open for anyone who is interested to run with.

Another Tiny look into It's My Party (And I'll Cry If I Want To), from the first chapter! I've been jumping around in where im writing, but the first official chapter is just about finished.
Shoutout to @dcxdpdabbles too, their oneshot called Magic Older Brother since they gave me the idea to place this during Tim's birthday and inspired the first part!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rain was pelting on him as he walked, the fog starting to get tick and heavy. Danny was just with his parents, walking from the parking lot to the ghost convention they dragged him along to. Jazz was at home, her friends letting her sleep over for the trip, but Danny was 5 and his parents didn’t trust anyone to watch him. So, they packed up his bags and dragged him along.
Now, though, his parents had run off and left him alone on the sidewalk. Danny thought he knew where he was going, his parents ran off in a straight direction, but he hadn’t reached the convention center yet. He has seen no ghosts, and now the sun was starting to set as well.
As it got darker, the shadows seemed to twist and turn. He was too scared to go down the dark paths, unsure of what could be in that darkness, so he followed the light.
As he kept walking, Danny eventually wandered into a neighborhood filled with mansions. They seemed to tower over him as he kept walking. Most of the lights were turned off, but there was this one he saw in the distance. Deciding to trying his luck, Danny walked up to the house to knock on the door. He knew he shouldn’t talk to strangers, but at this point he was soaking and cold, and it was so dark outside now.
Knocking on the door, Danny stood back and turned to peer through the windows to see anyone coming. As he stood on his toes to try and see inside more, the door swung open to reveal a kid bigger than him! He smiled up at him, glad to see another kid instead of an adult.
“Hi, I’m Tim!” the big kid began, “Are you here for the party! Did you see the signs outside! It’s my birthday party!” He said as he bounced up and down on his toes.
“Really?” Danny asked, Tim’s excitement infecting him. “That’s so cool! I’m Danny! I’d love to come in but I got soaked by the rain, and I don’t want to get you and your floors all wet.”
Tim held out his hand, “That’s ok! You’re the first to show up, so I’m sure we can get you some clothes before anyone else comes! I’ll have to get you some of mine though, my parents are away and I don’t know what happened to my old clothes.”
Danny grabbed his hand, getting pulled in by Tim. “Thank you!” Danny smiled. As Tim pulled him along and through the halls, Danny couldn’t help but be sad for him. This big kid was so happy, but he didn’t seem to have a Jazz to spend his birthday with like Danny did! That was unacceptable, Danny decided once Tim sat him down by his bed and began pulling out clothes for him, shooting him a bright smile as he gave Danny the clothes. As Tim pointed him to the bathroom and he began changing, putting on the big shirt and shorts he was lent, Danny knew what he had to do. Yes, he would be his Jazz! And he would be the best Jazz ever and help Tim have the best birthday ever!

DP X DC PROMPT- (Fic that I'd totally probably might write)
Jason had learned from being a Robin to being Red Hood to expect a lot of things, from fighting the deranged to expecting the unexpected like daina (WONDER WOMAN!) being mind controlled.
But he never expected this.
He usually doesn't come here to begin, not after- after it happened, but he does each time whenever the pits wants to remind hims of what he could have lost. (What he lost, how it hurt hurt hurt. How HE hurt them. He knows that even if they forgive him, they'll never trust him again. The pit laughs from behind)
But tonight, in front of him sat someone?something? what appears to be a teenager from 14 to 16, with red hair that flickers similar to a flame and skin too pale and ears too pointy.
But it?she? sat on one of the headstone with her eyes glazed, too deep in her own thoughts.
A series of bubbles cut her off. She proceeded to put the baby (that seemed completely human) on her shoulder and allowed him to burb. Then cocooned him in blankets and hummed him to sleep.
Right now, he isn't red hood (or Robin). And his gun may not affect her, that is if the child belongs to someone else. (Did the parents give them to her? Or is she related? Have any alarms of a breakout occur that a meta? experiments? escape?).
(He sounds like Bruce.)
"A penny for your thoughts?"
The girl had her eyes on the child, with a small sad smile and flickers of flaming hair. "Just..."
"Just wondering what my grave would have looked like."
He sucked a breath.
"That ones yours...right?"
The girl (child ghost holy fuck!) nodded her head to his own grave. "Y-yeah...it's mine."
"It's beautiful... And well cleaned...They must've cared a lot, mister Jason."
He never thought about that. A well taken grave describes a caring family wouldn't it? (They do care! How is it still clean though?)
"Yeah...but uh...um...What's up with the..the baby?" Is the baby alive?
"Oh...Noone will take care of my baby boy... So.. I had to come back..."
She pushed back a few strands of black hair with tender eyes and the lightest touch. As if he where the most fragile crystle.
Jason could see himself in the child. All loved to the point his own mother would give up everything just for him. Except it was Bruce, it was Bruce that took him in and loved him. Standing beside his bed during nightmares when he cried and taking away the monsters. Sitting with Alfred, cooking together and exchanging stories.
(His family loved him. His family loves him.)
"Would you like to fly with me?"
Robin made me magic
He keeps wiping his face while she put the baby in a safer position. "We can have a brawl for fun after I put little Danny in his bed a-" she stopped mid scentence when looking at him
He sputtered. " Is something wrong?"
With fear in her eyes she floated, creating distance between both of them. She shaked her head in disbelief.
"You...you died..."
He took a step farther, not wanting to scare them away.
"But..b-but your... nononono why do you look like that?!"
He wanted to ask like what, but she disappeared before his eyes. (Did she know he wasn't safe? That he hurt his family?)
...
Beep
"Hey Jaylad, is the pit be-
"B-Bruce"
"Jason, what's wrong? Are yo- what happend?"
"I'm sorry, I'm s-so sorry, I'm sorry! Dad I'm sor-"
"I'm coming, hang in there."
"Little Wing what's wrong?"
"Todd, who hurt you? Who should I kill?"
"Jason, back ups close. Breath with me, alright!"
(His family loves him)
(The pits were silenced)
_______________________________________
In an alternative universe the Fenton are still driving around and setting up traps, unfortunately Jazz is the one who removes them and got caught.
Since jazz is the one that doesn't wear hazmats and dany is still a baby (she makes sure is far from their experiments with ectoplasm), she becomes a ghost who decides that she doesn't want Danny to get hurt and takes him somewhere near a lot of ectoplasm.
Gotham: sweet baby girl, little baby harley.
Let the drama begin.

Graves aren’t the only place people die and rest
People don’t die at their graves, nor do they all die from accidents. Logically Danny knew this, he knows this.
Maybe it’s because of Amity Park. Amity is just a small town, a place out of the way from the rest. It’s not completely isolated but it’s not really close to any other town or city as well.
Then again, his ancestors did burn witches so it might have added more into his surprise in later years once he realizes what ‘dead’ is.
It started off as one of mom and dad’s normal ghost hunting trips. It was a new location and this time both he and Jazz were being brought with them since it was the spring break. The location was an empty cabin, it was old but well cared for and clean. The couple that owns the cabins said that some unusual actives were happening which caught the interest of his parents. And as usual, they had to get rid of the ‘spook’.
Danny didn’t care as much as he should have, having grown up with his parents' wild urges to find anything remotely close to their research of ghost and getting rid of them. Ever since he became Phantom, he started to care a whole lot more since, after learning and understanding the spirits of the dead, were just people who can’t officially cross.
But that wasn’t the story. It was when night fell, did he realize an important fact about ghost.
It was a night flying, just a bit of air and quiet time after dealing with his parents rambling all day and avoiding their weapons. He needed a breather, and nothing brought he more peace than a nightly timed stroll.
Then that's when he felt it.
A ghost was nearby.
Huffing that his parents were right, he flew towards the direction of the ghost he detected.
Now Danny isn’t a stranger to childlike children ghost. Sidney and Youngblood were one of the few child-like ghost he met. Cujo was a dog and others like Ember and Kitty were practically teenagers when passed on.
(And he himself knew that his death should not have happen, should never happen. He was a child when he lived, and he was a child as he died. But he likes to think the moment he became Phantom was the moment he had to grow up.)
In other words, he wasn’t a stranger to young looking ghost.
He was a stranger, however, to the tense aura of fear-help-sorry-fear-fear-hurt-pain-scared-scared-mom-help washing over him as he looked upon a girl was no older than he was, crying over a crack in the ground.
It was the first time he saw the effects of a newly killed ghost.
Things became a blur after that, but the moment Danny woke up with white eyes watching him in curiosity did he remembered what happened.
Her name was Anna, she loves to do photography. She wanted to take pictures in the woods. She saw a man in the woods. She turned around. She made a mistake. She died with a stab wound and her body was left to rot in that crack in the ground. She wasn’t buried. She was killed and left behind.
She died two months ago.
That was when Danny remembered that not everyone can die a quiet death.
(He helped her cross over and brought her to a city in the zone. He didn’t want to leave, not yet, but he knew he had a duty and promised to visit.
It took a couple of weeks until he saw her smile through her endless tears.)
Then months passed and more trips became a common thing during the summer break. Since it was the summer, their ‘ghost hunting’ trips would take them further away from Amity and all over the state.
In that one summer season he found other ghosts that were just like Anna. Some in alleyways, others on the road, some at gas stations, a few in front of their homes and the scary sad few that were found in the middle of nowhere.
Murdered, killed, car accident, strokes, hunger and more.
Death is not something Danny thought of as scary. He thought that those that had died already, those that where ghost, the scary ones. He forgot that death was not something everyone wanted.
(He repressed the memory of how painful his death was.)
But he learned, he remembered, and he helped.
He wanted to help, to help those that died to soon or to sudden, He wanted to help the ghost that seem so angry, so sad, and the few that looked so empty and helpless that they look worse the living.
Those looked like they never lived at all.
So, he helped, he helped because this was all he can do. If he can give at least one ghost a peaceful passing, then he can trade those few hours of sleepless nights happily.
half a year later his parents chose to make an extended trip during the winter break (which he didn’t mind since they would miss chrismas in Amity Park, a miracle all on its own.)
The problem is that the place they wanted to take a trip was in Gotham.
A city where crime and death rates are at their highest.
He wasn’t surprised when he saw a ghost in Gotham, however, he was surprised when most of the ghosts seemed to be far more calming then all the rest.
They did not wail in sadness nor did the scream to the high heavens of the unfairness of it all. No, they simply watched over the people that lived there for years and lifetimes more than them.
He thought that it might be easy to take them across the zone and back to their home because of how calm they were, how reasonable, however, that was not the case.
Instead, they wanted him to help Gotham and the people that lived in those very streets.
He should have said no, he should have turned away, heck, he should have dragged them back to the zone and be done with it all.
But he looked deep into the eyes of the dead citizens of this crime filled city and saw sadness. Sadness for the living that had to walk a life of danger, a never-ending release.
They cared not of their own undead lives but the ones that have yet to die.
And the undead teenage can only sigh before reaching out his hand as a sign of peace.
“Who would you like me to save?”

@gilbirda @desatu They inspired this fic. Check out Desatu drawing~! Jazz crouched down to be eye level with her little brother, now officially son. Danny was de-aged last year and with the help of Vlad they were finally able to live as a family without worry of being found out. Danny was standing there, staring at the ground. His fluffy hair covering his face as he twisted the ball of his foot, nervously on the concrete. His hand clenched tight around his backpack strap and wearing a red and white shirt, similar to the ones he wore as a teen. Jazz smiled sympathetically, as she reached out to brush her fingers through his hair. He was so small, and adorable. Today was his first day back at school, but this time at the age of six again. So he was repeating elementary, though to the government it be his first time. Danny never liked school so to go back to first grade, Danny was laughing and cutting up moments earlier that it would be a breeze. Jazz new it was out of nerves.
He always joked about things that made him nervous or uncomfortable. It wasn't about the grades that scared him, he was always good in school until high school when he gained his powers, now dimmed by the gun that turned him young again. Jazz knew it was the people, the teachers, the students, that bothered him. Most of all, today solidifies that Danny was stuck growing up again. Perhaps it was her fault for holding out his hopes that they could fix this, but even with access to the ghost zone again, Clockwork and the others made it clear. Only time could heal him. It was hard to hear for Danny. “It won't be so bad Danny.” Jazz tried to comfort, giving a warm smile, as her hand fell down to trace Danny's chubby cheeks. They had faint freckles over them. “Easy for you to say. I got another-” Danny waited a moment to count on his fingers, hissing that he has to stop and think about it. That been another odd thing, Jazz had noted. Danny didn't just look like a six year old, at times he truly acted like one. Where his brain couldn't process some memories or knowledge and it took him a while to pinpoint things. It scared her at first that her parents-JAck and Maddie had invented something that was just as damaging as the portal to Danny. But, it turns out through her research and thanks to the Yetis that Danny would be fine once he reached his age again. “Ugh, I'm so stupid only twelve grades and I'm starting first-” Danny smacking his hand to his forehead. “Danny you are not stupid.” “I messed around machines that got me killed and this.. I say that's pretty stupid.” Jazz frowned, crossing her arms as she looked at him. “No, that wasn't a wise decision on ANYONE'S part. You shouldn't have had even access to the thing. Danny.. You can fly a rocket ship, you can dissect a ray gun, and even fixed the broken tv we found in the dumpster.” “Last one you got upset about.” “You kept forgetting to unplug it when you were finished testing it.” Jazz pointed out. Danny just rubbed his neck, turning his head to the side. Jazz sighed, reaching to put a hand on his shoulder. “If you're anything, that's reckless. And who knows, maybe this time will be easier for you.” “Tuck won't be there.” “No, but other kids will and if it does get bad, you can always leave it Danny. I looked up homeschooling and I know you could get a scholarship into better school if you wanted too. There are options.” Danny stared at her for a moment, a sad but thinking look. He sighed, shaking his head. He looked so defeated, it broke her heart. So she leaned forward to give him a big hug. He didn't even pretend he didn't want it this time as he just accepted the hug. Not moving to hug back, but not pushing away either. “I love you Danny. We'll get through this, and it will get better. I promise.” “Love you too Jazz.” Danny whispered back, with a sigh, then quickly pushed away from her running towards the school entrance. Jazz blinked stunned, before chuckling, with a hand over her mouth. She stood and gave a wave. “Have a good day at school!!!” “No promises!” He waved his hand back towards her, as he kept facing the building entrance. She sighed once he was out of sight, hugging herself. This wasn't going to be easy, raising her little brother again, but at least she has hope that this time Danny would be safe. Well, safe was relative considering where they live. But for a half-dead kid, it was.

Like my writing? Came here for a prompt and wants more? (update: 01.04.24/
I HAVE AO3! PsycholoGeek feel free to look. (I love comments. Just saying 😜)
Writing Tags:
"my additions" (adding to others)
"my writing" (og/long adds)
"my poems" (poems)
Not all my writing is there, of course.
Fic Recs (personal favourites)
Grave Promises - Batman, 2,111 words
Witwat and the Jin - Batman, 2,245 words
Sing Me To Sleep - DP*DC 19k words. Tws in tags. Tim and healing (it gets worse before it gets better. But it gets better.)
Who am I (to disappear) - DC, Cass-centric, 22k words
A list of my fics (complete and WIPs) undercut:
Completed one-shot:
Grave Promises (Batman, 2,111 words) - very important to me. Life, recovery, and disability is not a tragedy. Barbara kill the Joker, but it isn't the focus.(Barbara Gordon focused.)
Do You Understand?  ( Encanto, 330 words).c
Just short of a fairy tale (I told myself that I wouldn't be scared) (Batman, 770 words) - urban fantasy. Jason Todd centric.
Witwat and the Jin (Batman, 2,245 words) - Dami-being-Dami and slowly understandings.
Sing Me To Sleep - DP*DC (19k words). After fired from Robin, Tim had enough. He's done with life. Clockwork said "not today, bitch" and got some good old ectoshot. Ft. Jazz Fenton as an older sister TM and the 3Ds as their usual chaotic selves. (I wrote the second half, chapters 2-6. A bit heavy, but I hope I did well with the subject.)
Hold Them Close -DP*DC (12k words). I wrote the first chapter+Fanart. Danny escaped Vlad and his experiments with bb!Ellie, and flew straight up-up-and above. In the watchtower, our heroes sees a monster and (what they think is) a child in distress. Misunderstandings and whump, with the last quarter of the fic as comfort and fluff :)
Main serieses:
Who am I (to disappear) - David Cain tried to create a weapon. Weapon forge themself into something new. (Many names, they\them Cass). Ft. Kid!Jason Todd, Mayan mythology, and sign language. (Stand alone, technically prequel to "Sweet Dreams", but no need to read.)
Sweet Dreams - (DC, 3 works, 1 complete. ~17k words). Reverse Robins + Badman verse (inspired by @byrambles fic). Batboy's younger brothers were taken by the Batman who defeated his father. Trying to protect them, he promise his loyalty to the newcomer. But even though he assure him he is perfectly trained, and can properly punish the kids to surrender, the man isn't impressed. In which there's Misunderstandings and sadness (first fic). The series deals with trauma and the ongoing issues it causes, and shows how it changes you. TW: Include suicidality+mention of kid's suicidality, flashbacks, mentioned past child sexual abuse, dissociations, Whump and angst with eventual comfort. I don't go in details about their past, but it's important to notice that the first 2 fics contains HEAVY (but non graphic) themes.
Liminal Skills for the Living Dead - also known as "therapy verse". DP x DC xover. AKA Anger Management! Fake dating for fun and profit. Enter family, friends, and Wikipedia explanations of some necessary skills as titles. Jazz is her autistic with anxiety self. Jason is a crime lord with anger management issues.
Or: in which THERE'S THERAPY!! (6 works - 4 are complete. ~30k words)
Lost and Found (if this wings could fly) - also known as "FF AU". DP x DC xover. Jazz and Jason as childhood mutuals. (4 complete works, ~10k in total. more to come)
(also some other things. Feel free to look, ask and comment!)

Chapter 6 of 11: Lying to You
AO3
Tumblr Chapter One
Tumblr Chapter Seven
~~~~~~
Jack heard Sam’s laughter as he hung up the phone, before the trio joined him in the kitchen. She seemed to be teasing Danny and Tucker about something, though Jack had no idea what. He smiled anyway. The two had become commonplace figures again in the Fenton home over the past week and Jack loved seeing the changes it brought to Danny. He smiled more, laughed more, even when he wasn’t around them. Even as Phantom he had more quips and grins.
As much as it pained him to know his son had been practically suicidal less than three months ago, it gave him immense joy to see Danny recovering from his depression and isolation so easily.
Jack resisted the urge to touch the bruises aching around his neck from Vlad’s hands as he wondered if Vlad would ever be able to recover the way Danny had.
“You two staying for dinner?” Jack asked, banishing the thoughts of Vlad from his mind.
“Is it okay if we do?” Sam asked.
“I’d like them here, at least while I talk to Jazz.” Danny added.
“You two know you’re always welcome here!” Jack said boisterously.
The three grinned and settled into their seats. They passed a look between them and the mood sobered.
“Actually, Dad, I need to talk to you before Jazz gets home?” Danny said, fidgeting in his seat. Tucker wrapped his arm around Danny’s shoulders, giving him a comforting squeeze before letting go.
“Sure, kiddo,” Jack said, settling into the remaining empty seat. He’d have to remember to get one of their spare chairs when Jazz arrived.
“So, uh, we discovered something at school today,” Danny said. The tone of it left no doubt within Jack that it was related to ghosts and not at all with their classes.
“Are you alright?” Jack asked. That was always the first thing he always asked these days.
“I am. I’m just, uh… a bit more ghostly than I realized?”
Jack shrugged and leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table, letting Danny continue at his own pace.
“Dude, you know he isn’t going to care, in like, a bad way,” Tucker said.
“Trust me, as someone who recently found out you’re half ghost - this is so low on the totem pole for us in terms of new things we’ve learned, it barely registers.” Sam agreed.
“I know! I’m not scared or anything. It’s just… it’s still hard to be open with ghost stuff, y’know?”
“Danno,” Jack said, keeping his voice soft. “Talk to me.”
“We realized I’m able to eat emotions.” Danny admitted.
“Oh. Uh, okay. I’m sure we can watch a lot of sad shows or those scientifically inaccurate shows that make me mad, to make sure you’re getting enough… sustenance? Jazz has always been easily spooked by horror movies, anyway.” Jack said, trying to think of all the ways to safely bring up emotions of fear, anger, and sadness.
“Huh?” Danny said.
“Positive emotions, Mr. Fenton,” Sam piped up, rolling her eyes at Danny. “We realized Danny’s been eating less human food since the three of us found out the truth. He’s spending more time with all of us - who feel positive emotions about him - and he’s been unknowingly absorbing it.”
“Oh!” Danny said, finally understanding the miscommunication. “I’m not like Spectra, who eats negative feelings. I’m the opposite. I guess I just never realized it because I was pushing everyone away.”
“Or it’s a new ghost ability,” Tucker added. When Sam and Danny looked at him in confusion, he shrugged. “Danny, you’ve already told us you’ve occasionally gained new ghost abilities. It might be new.”
“I hadn’t considered that,” Danny frowned. “I don’t know if -“
He was cut off by the sound of the front door slamming open. “Dad?!” Jazz called, a hint of panic to her voice. “I just saw your text, is everything okay?!” She asked, turning the corner out of breath, eyes wide as she took in the scene. She seemed to relax marginally when she saw Danny sitting there. “Sam! Tucker! It’s been so long!” She said, hugging the two of them and then Danny.
“Let me go grab one of the spare chairs,” Jack said, but Jazz stopped him before he got out of his chair.
“I’m fine standing, I’ve been sitting in class all day. So, family meeting?” She said, lingering behind Danny.
“Well, family plus Sam and Tuck.” Danny said, craning his neck slightly to look at her. “But I think you should sit down, Jazz. It’s kinda a big topic.” Danny was out of his seat before Jazz could protest, gently pushing her into the seat he’d abandoned.
“Okay?” Jazz asked hesitantly.
“Okay. Well. Uh…” Danny trailed off, sending a panicked glance to Jack.
Jack just shook his head slightly. “You’ve got this, son.”
"Is everything alright, Danny?" Jazz asked, turning in her seat to grab Danny's hand, concern painted across her face. She glanced over at Jack with an expression he couldn't read.
"So. Uh. Y’know, like, ghosts? How they're a thing?" Danny stumbled.
It took everything Jack had to not laugh at the 'are you serious right now?' look Jazz gave her brother.
Sam and Tucker, however, also saw the look and broke out in laughter.
"Hey, you try telling your sister you're half ghost! It's not easy!" Danny whined before going ramrod straight as Jazz's eyes widened. "I mean, uh, shit, uh, like… that isn't how I meant to tell you."
Jazz just smiled and stood, wrapping her arms around Danny, though she stepped off a little further to the side than necessary, completely blocking Danny from Jack’s view. A frown pulled to Jack’s face. Something about that felt… intentional?
He could only see Jazz’s back as she leaned down closer to her brother and whispered something too low for Jacks to hear, followed by Danny shouting, “You what?”
Jazz looked over her shoulder at her father, seeming to be gauging a reaction from him. He smiled at her, though he was sure she could see the confusion on his face.
“How long have you known?” Danny asked, pulling away from his sister, shocked.
Jazz shrugged, turning her attention back to Danny. “Since the Spectra incident.”
Danny groaned. “I swear to Clockwork, if Mom says she already knew when I tell her, I’m blowing something up!”
“You need an excuse to blow something up?” Tucker quipped.
“Wait,” Jack said. “Jazz, did you already know?”
Jazz sighed and turned around, wrapping her arms around herself. “Yeah. I found out by accident.”
“Dude, how in the hell do you still have a secret identity?” Tucker asked, laughing. Sam thwacked his arm, raising a finger to her lips in the universal sign of ‘shut up!’
“That’s a good question,” Danny grumbled. “Why didn’t you ever tell me you knew I was Phantom, Jazz?”
Again, Jazz watched Jack a moment before answering, and he finally realized why. Jazz had been - and still was - worried about how Jack would react. “At first, I wanted you to want to tell me. So I tried to give you space, help without it being obvious I was helping. After some time passed, though…” Jazz trailed off, biting at her lower lip. “I almost exposed your secret a few times. I’ve never been good at lying. Until this, I didn’t think anyone in this family was capable of keeping a secret. It’s why I haven’t been home a lot and signed up for all those extra classes and study groups.”
Sadness grew in Jack with Jazz’s every word. Had he and Maddie really made both of their children believe they’d hurt one of them for being a ghost? Made both of them afraid of their parents? So much so that Jazz, ever the level headed peacekeeper, who always worked to bring the family back together, decided that letting the family fracture further was the safest option?
Danny had pulled away to keep his secret safe. Jazz had pulled away because she wasn’t sure if she could keep her brother safe.
“I’m sorry,” Jack said hoarsely, staring at both of his kids - the two people he loved more than anything in this world, who he’d die for, who he’d protect until the ends of the Earth. They both looked at him in confusion, though Sam and Tucker looked at him with sympathy. They hadn’t been trusted with the truth either, so they probably understood some of what he felt.
But Jack hadn’t been trusted for much worse reasons. He hadn’t been trusted out of fear that he would torture and kill his son. “I’m sorry,” he repeated.
“Dad…” Danny said, moving around the table until he was behind Jack, patting him on the shoulder. “It’s okay.”
Jazz pressed her lips together into a thin line and said nothing. She didn’t contradict Danny, at least. They all knew this wasn’t okay, no matter how much Danny was trying to pretend it was.
“Thanks, son,” Jack said halfheartedly. “Well, now that Jazz knows, time to discuss telling the final Fenton.”
“Mom?” Jazz asked. “Are… are we sure that’s safe?”
He paused, staring at the wood grain of the table as he thought.
That had been one of the reasons he’d gone to see Vlad earlier. Maddie had to be told… and Jack needed a back up plan for if she took it poorly. To his immense relief, Vlad had agreed to help, though he had insisted the only reason he was willing to help was because he knew how brilliant Maddie was and she’d connect the dots between Danny’s accident and Vlad’s own.
If the worse came to pass, threats of child protective services being called on the Fenton home should work, and Jack would publically decimate their research as flawed and made up to discredit her or any crazy theories she may spread - including the possibility of her own son being half ghost, if she tried to go to the media with it.
Danny couldn’t leave Amity and Jack would always stay with his son. If it got too bad… Vlad was rich enough to make Maddie disappear and make it look like she left, abandoned their family and their ‘freak’ of a son.
Jack and Vlad had set several contingencies in place, and none of them would he ever admit to either of his kids. As much as it hurt him, as much as it made his heart stutter in grief, if he had to make a choice between his wife and his son, he’d choose Danny, every time.
“Everything will be fine,” Jack lied. “I was afraid at first, too, but I know Maddie, she loves you two. I have no doubt that she’ll accept you, Danno.”
A look passed between Jack and Jazz. The look in her eyes told him that she knew he was lying. The look she sent Danny after told him she’d lie and protect him too, no matter the cost.
Danny seemed to buy it, relaxing slightly at his side. “Guess we should plan how to tell her?”
“Do you want us there, Danny?” Sam asked.
“If nothing else, you can eat our good vibes!” Tucker grinned.
“I’m sorry, eat what?” Jazz asked.
“Oh, your brother recently learned he eats feelings.” Tucker said with a shrug, like it was the most uninteresting thing he'd ever heard. Despite the situation, despite learning that his daughter also feared he'd carve up Danny, Jack grinned, because his son's friends accepted him - and his secret - with open arms.
Jazz sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she took a few deep breaths. “Okay. Okay, that’s fine,” she said before grinning at Danny and ruffling his hair. Danny sent his sister a relieved grin before swatting her hand away, whining about ‘ew, sister cooties!’ and then returning his attention to his friends.
“I think I’d like you guys there for that one, too,” Danny said, his eyes lingering on Tucker and the two sharing a shy smile.
Well, Jack had always wondered which one of his friends Danny would end up dating (if not both of them), and he supposed he’d just gotten his answer.
“I’m thinking we tell her here,” Jack said, deciding he needed to give his son the talk later. Dating is dating and needs to have the talk! “Over dinner. I can disable all the ghost defenses like we did for the time we tested your powers, if you’re worried.”
Danny nodded. “That sounds like a good idea to me.”
Jack could see the fear in his son’s face and he tried to smile, tried to hide his own fear, reassuring himself that he and Vlad had a plan, had it worked out if the worst came to pass.
Danny eventually realized they needed the spare fifth seat and when Jack went to get it, said he would handle it. He was all smiles as he transformed into Phantom, flying intangibly to the other room and back, grabbing the chair. Jack was calmed by the display - his son, in front of people who accepted him, showing off his powers, showing off the thing that had made him so afraid for so long.
If anyone else besides him noticed that Danny’s ears remained slightly pointed when he reverted back to his human half, they kept it as quiet as Jack did.
The pizza finally arrived shortly thereafter and they all settled in to eat. Jack couldn’t help but smile, content as he watched the teens eat and chat. They joked around and goofed off, they talked about school. Danny’s chair was closer to Tucker’s and Jack didn’t miss the smiles the two shared as they discussed video games while Jazz and Sam discussed various activist organizations.
There was an ache deep in his bones as Jack prayed, beyond all hope, for this to become their new normal - his family restored, his son’s friends at his side. So, silently, quietly - Jack prayed.
Agents Byte and Bit were ready when Operative O showed up, a week later as he’d said. Byte was O’s equivalent in the chain of command on the technological side.
“Byte. Bit.” Operative O greeted.
“O,” the two tech nerds greeted in unison.
“Judging by your presence, I am assuming Bit failed to restore any of the lost data?” O asked, cutting straight to the point as he scowled at Byte.
Bit shuffled slightly, moving slightly behind his boss.
“Unfortunately, when Phantom triggered an electrical surge, all electronics were fried and, as Bit has no doubt explained, we do not keep any offsite backups for security reasons. In layman’s terms - the information has essentially been burned to ash. There is nothing to be done for it,” Byte said, holding himself up straight, trying to look stern and intimidating despite being half a foot shorter than O was.
O growled. “This conversation could have been an email, then. Why did you request a meeting?”
The prosthetic hand clenched into a fist at his side as it sensed his rising anger and O tried to relax it subtly. The prosthesis was extremely experimental, fueled partially by mortal electricity and partially by ectoplasm. It was a genius construction of the two, but ectoplasm was well known for reacting to emotions - and it showed every time O had strong feelings.
Which was quite annoying in times, such as now, when O couldn’t get the fist to relax, which made him frustrated, which just caused the fist to clench tighter. This is all Phantom’s fault! O growled internally, his hatred rising as he gave up on trying to make his hand do what he wanted. He felt like he had no control over his own body, all because that stupid ghost kid had fought back.
“Because we found something else we think you might like,” Byte said, unaware of O’s internal struggle.
“Did you capture Phantom yourselves?” O asked sarcastically.
“No. But we may have an idea to help you catch it. Bit, show him,” Byte said, stepping out of the way.
“Uh, here, look, Operative O,” Bit said, sliding into his seat and pulling up… something with a lot of numbers and shorthand on it that O couldn’t interpret. “We’ve been studying Phantom since its escape. We’ve noticed some changes in the routine it follows in the weeks since the incident, and there have been a few notable ones that may benefit us.”
“Fascinating,” O drawled. “Point?”
“Well, to put it simply…” Bit said, pulling up another file, this one so simple even O could understand it, even if he couldn’t believe it. He didn’t even notice the self satisfied smirk on Bit’s face as he took in O’s shock.
“You’re sure?” O asked in disbelief, rereading the text. “How?”
“We’re not sure, but we’re guessing Phantom has enough intelligence to realize it needed help after escaping our facility and figured out how to get some.”
“And how is this supposed to help me recatch him - I mean, recatch it? This would just complicate things further.”
A devious grin crept onto Bit’s face. “Because we’re noticing Phantom’s been falling back onto this ‘support’ more frequently recently. But this help won’t be available in a few nights,” Bit explained, handing a piece of paper to O, smirking as though he’d just handed over the keys to the Ghost Zone.
And, while that wasn’t what he’d handed O, there was no denying it was a strong second prize. A rare smile crept onto Operative O’s face. “You’re sure?” He asked, glee in his voice.
“Positive,” Byte confirmed for his agent, lips curved into a cocky smile.
“Perfect. I’ll go brief K and -“ O began, cutting himself off and grimacing at his error. “I mean. I’ll go brief M and get us ready to roll, when the time comes.”
Bit and Byte looked at him sympathetically, but he ignored it - he didn’t do pity, especially pity aimed at him. He was fine.
He wasn’t the one who bled to death under tons of concrete.
O took one final look at the paper before crumpling it in his good hand.
Phantom was about to learn - the hard way - that he should’ve killed O in that blast too. And this paper was going to help O teach the freak that lesson.
(Not) Alone - Chapter 6
Summary: Consumed with worry and scared after watching Dani almost die, Danny begs her to come home with him and meet Jazz. He wants to see her safe and happy and taken care of more than anything. An important reveal also weighs heavy on him – Dani isn’t the only living clone… and the other is him. He needs to tell her the truth; maybe that will convince her to agree to the idea of telling his parents. And she'll stay in Amity Park with him, where he'll never have to worry if she's safe ever again.
Meanwhile, Dani has mixed feelings. Still reeling from the loss of her clone siblings, Danny’s unexpected worry and care make her uncomfortable. And her own guilt… she hurt him and helped get him kidnapped twice. How can he care about a mistake like her? But having clean clothes and a bed is wonderful. And things aren’t as simple as she thinks.
Will Dani accept the help she needs and let herself be loved? Or will she push Danny and Jazz away and run again?
Morning dawned, golden light wafting through the blinds. Slowly, Dani drifted to wakefulness. Warm covers, soft mattress, fluffy pillow… The girl rolled over, letting out a pleasantly sleepy groan. She blinked once, twice. Eyes finally opening to…
An unfamiliar beige wall, a framed picture of a lake and trees
“Wha…” Dani’s brow furrowed.
Oh, Right. She was in the Fentons’ guestroom. She’d come back here with Danny after Vlad’s.
Danny… Dami. The impossible reality hit her.
Damian, one of her clone brothers….. he was still alive. He was stable, a half ghost like her. She spent the entire day with him, at the mall, in public. She’d never even dreamed of that happening. An awed smile dawned on her face. They’d talked, eaten together, shopped. It had been incredible! Wonderful! Amazing! She’d been gifted with this impossible miracle.
But…. the familiarity with Jazz, Dami’s comment about the Phantom plushie (He ‘didn’t authorize’ it.... He was so different.) Jazz had gone to the mall with them too and she was pretty cool. (But her other brothers weren’t…. They still weren’t here…)
She pushed the sad thought away. No. It was okay. Great even! She had her brother and that was more than enough (even if he was different). Still, the question…. What would come next? (She’d almost died. She’d yelled at Dami. He’d asked her about meeting ‘their Mom and Dad.’)
But despite her dawning worries, Dani felt pretty good. She was stable, she was safe, she had her brother, and… she’d figure the rest out.
At breakfast, Jazz asked. “Do you want to stay a few days? Mom and Dad won’t be back from Aunt Alicia’s for another week.”
“It’s summer break. We don’t have school to worry about.” Dami added. “We can go out and do whatever you want.” Both teen’s eyes were soft, with more than a hint of pleading.
Dani frowned, hesitating. She had a suspicion what this was, a ploy to convince her to remain long enough to meet the Drs Fenton. And maybe even to stay more permanently. (Because they felt responsible for her; they had to take care of the poor, pathetic clone girl).
The girl pushed the dark, ugly thought away with a scowl. No, that wasn’t true. The two older teens…. Dami at least… didn’t think that. (But… did Danny?)
Dani forced a smile, shrugging. “Sure. It could be fun.”
 A few more days couldn’t hurt, right? There were so many more things to see and do here. It would be loads of fun! Plus a few more days of delicious, free food (that she wouldn’t have to steal). And that super comfy bed to sleep in (instead of the ground.) And she’d have more time to bond with Dami (Danny, a small part of her reminded). And maybe with Jazz too? It would be so great!
(She wouldn’t have to be alone anymore.)
“Awesome!” Her brother smiled. “What do you want to do today?”
Dani’s brow furrowed, considering for a long moment. “I wanna ride a rollercoaster?” The girl finally asked.
Dami and Jazz look at each other. The boy gave the red-head a grin. “That sounds awesome. Jazz?”
The older teen smiled. “Oh. I think we can make that happen.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Much like the previous day, Dani helped the older two teens with the dishes. Again, they piled into the red-head’s car and drove off.
Arriving, Jazz parked and the three got out of the vehicle, walking towards the gates.
“Three tickets please.” The red-head asked.
They rode Dani’s coaster first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“We have to ride the Ferris Wheel!” Jazz practically dragged the two half ghosts to the ride. The wheel turned, the three arriving to the top. “You can see everything from up here! Isn’t it beautiful?”
The two half ghosts traded unimpressed looks. “We can both fly higher than this.” Dami muttered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You have to try fried oreos.” Dami implored, handing the younger girl the paper carton.
Dani took a bit through the crispy fried batter, teeth sinking into the center. The warm, sweet middle melted on her tongue. Her eyes popped wide. “Tis iss a’esoome.” She gushed through her full mouth.
(She wished Muscles was here to try this too.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Bum-per-cars! Bum-per-cars! Bum-per-cars!” Dani cheered, running to the gate.
She laughed maniacally and slammed into the older teen.
Jazz’s eyes widened, face indignant as she backed up.
Dani cackled, spotting her brother. Another target!
His eyes wide, he sped away…
“Take that, you little twirp!” Jazz slammed right into her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next few days were full of adventure.
Dami and Jazz took her to the Zoo….
“That tickles!” The girl giggled, holding a branch up to the giraffe. The long tongue brushed her fingers and she loved it! (Would Daniel have liked this too?)….
“Hey there, Deliah.” The ghost boy smiled at the purple-back gorilla. He sighed wistfully, watching the creature scratch her backside. “Did I tell you about the time she beat up Skulker?” A scowl. “No, I don’t mean Ghost X, Jazz.”.....
It started to drizzle as they moved to the chimpanzee enclosure. Still, Jazz grinned. “Oh, this is great! Maybe we’ll get to see the chimps rain dancing.”
Dani furrowed her brow. “Dancing… chimps? Really?”
“No! I’m serious!” Jazz insisted. “Chimpanzees have been observed to rhythmically sway in the rain, as if dancing. It’s a behavior not clearly linked to gathering food, finding a mate, or maintaining status in their trope. And it’s not just dancing! In 2015, researchers found four populations of wild chimps in West Africa where individuals habitually hit and throw rocks against trees or toss them into hollow tree cavities. This led to stone accumulation in the sites, reminiscent of human cairns.”
Dami side-eyed her. “What’s a cairn?”
“It’s a man-made pile of stones, created for some kind of purpose, often a ritual one like a burial mound.”
“So…  the chimps were making piles of rocks?” The youngest frowned skeptically. “So what?”
“There’s strong similarities to human ritual practices: the association of a particular location with a collection of artifacts over time, and ritualized behavior patterns. It could even be considered ‘quasi religious’ though I think that’s over-reaching. But still it’s so exciting! This could have implications for our understanding of the origin of human ritual sites!”
Dami and Dani traded looks. “Still not that exciting.” The boy crossed his arms.
“Well.” Jazz lifted her chin haughtily, turning. “You two just have no spirit of discovery.” She stomped away, intent on watching the chimpanzees dance in the rain.....
The three visited the Amity Park History Museum. Dami and his friends took her to the Nasty Burger. Jazz took her to the library.
All the while, it did feel like she was being wooed. They were trying to butter her up, to show her how good things were here.  They were trying to show how much fun they would have together…
“Snowball fight!” In the Fenton’s back yard, Dami threw a ball of snow at the younger half ghost.
“No fair! I don’t have ice powers!” The girl argued, ducking behind the tool shed.
“Not yet!” Another snow ball… then his hand rested on his chin thoughtfully. “We should probably have Frostbite check on your core to make sure though.”
“Check this!”
“Hey!”
Making do, Dani threw a ball of dirt at him.
The soil impacted with a thwump, Dami’s mouth falling open in mock offense. Within minutes, they were covered in mud and chunks of melting ice. Both laughing, they panted in the grass, staring up at the clouds. (Vlad’s garden, laying on the grass with Muscles, Bones, Tiny beside her. Her heart ached….)
Dami showed her his model rockets and they played with her plastic dinosaurs together. Jazz brought out her old Barbie dolls and they played marine biologist, therapist and patient, and a fancy tea party planning to assassinate the PTA chairwoman.
Her older brother took her flying. He showed off his powers, taught her new ones. “Hold your hands like this…. Now pull from your core.”
“Like this?” Ectoenergy danced on her fingers.
“Exactly. Now… make it solid, like a wall. Nothing’s getting past you.”
Dani’s brow furrowed, picturing a shield in front of her. Earlier, he’d shown her his shield; she’d felt its shimmering solidity. The sensation…. It buzzed under her fingers. Steady, stable, familiar.
The green barrier popped into existence. “I did it!”
“Good job!” The boy’s hand enthusiastically swung forward to high five her... “Umph.” Only to impact the shield. “Yep. It’s solid.” Dami grinned sheepishly.
This was everything she could have here by her brother’s side. Everything she could learn from him.
“Take that, tin can!” Dami lobbed a bolt of ice at Skulker.
The metallic ghost dodged. “As if I’d fall for that again, welp.” A missile shot from his back, diving for the pavement.
“Ghost boy!” An excited teen girl yelled below.
“What are you doing?” Said ghost boy shouted. “Run!”
Eyes suddenly wide and alarmed, the teen obeyed. “Ah! My ankle.” She tripped over some debris.
“Shit.” Dami muttered. In a blink, he dove, reaching her just in time. His hand gripped her shoulder, turning them both intangible just as the missile exploded.
“You saved me, Phantom!”
The ghost boy grabbed the teen under the arms, zooming away from Skulker. “For the last time, stay away from ghost fights!”
He dropped her off behind a car, returning to the fight.
Another ectoblast shot at the metal ghost. “Dani! Now.” The boy shouted.
“Don’t try to distract me with-”
The girl shot a blast from behind, distracting Skulker long enough for her brother to get him in the thermos.
Dami let her help out in ghost fights. He took her stargazing above the clouds.
“You see that really bright star there?”
“Yeah?” Dani’s finger pointed.
“That’s Polaris, the North Star. And if you look to the left a bit… yeah, there.…that’s the tail of Ursa Minor….”
Her brother taught her constellations and told her stories. He laughed, sharing snacks with her. Just them and the stars.
And Dani loved it. She loved learning, exploring, just spending time with her brother (and even Jazz). Maybe she didn’t mind so much, being wooed. The longer she stayed, the more comfortable she felt.
And yet….
The bed was comfortable but it still felt strange, waking up in the same room everyday. Walking passed the door to the Master Bedroom. The closed lab. The family pictures in the Living Room. This wasn’t just Jazz and Danny’s home but… Jack and Maddie Fenton’s too.
Dani pretended she didn’t hear the conversation behind closed doors.
“Mom and Dad are going to be back on Monday.” Jazz’s hushed voice
“I know.” Dami, quiet, more than a hint of dread. “We need to talk to her, don’t we?”
“You need to talk to her.” Pointedly.
“Me!?” His voice cracked. “But you’re better at that stuff Jazz. You-”
“It needs to be you. She trusts you more than me.” The crossed arms were audible. “And meeting Mom and Dad isn’t the only thing you two need to talk about.”
“What?” Almost sheepish.
“I’m not deaf, Danny. I heard what she said to you before you told her about the fusion. She’s putting on a brave face but-”
Dani walked away before she could hear more.
Those pictures… Jack and Maddie Fenton, tender eyes on each other in their colorful jumpsuits. Jazz and Danny as little kids, grinning at the camera in their dress and tiny suit. And the four together, the parents - faces bright with laughter- wrapped arms around their children, each's cheeks red with embarrassment and yet still…. Both smiled, not-so-secretly pleased.
Family Photos. These were family photos. (Photos Dani didn’t belong in. Couldn’t belong in). The thought of meeting the Fenton parents sent a knot of dread through her. But still…
Dani had Dami and Jazz and they were both so good to her. They paid attention to her, spend time with her. She wasn’t alone. She was safe here, safe from Vlad. (Guilt snapped… No, none of what had happened, what he had convinced her to do, was her fault.) And she was happy.
Everything was great….
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“That is it.” Jazz crossed her arms. “We are going shopping today and we’re getting you your own clothes and shoes.”
“I have my own shoes.” Dani complained. The trusty tennis shoes she’d been wearing when she arrived in Amity Park, swiped from a thrift store after her first pair literally fell apart.
“They literally have a hole in the toe.” Dami crossed his arms too.
The clone girl scowled. “The hand-me-downs are fine!” She pouted, eyes staring down at said hand-me-downs, all the way to Jazz’s car…. “I don’t need new clothes.” During the car ride… “I’m fine. You don’t have to buy me stuff.” Into the mall… “I don’t want stupid new shoes.”  Down the long hall and into the shoe store. “You’re just gonna be wasting your money.”
The protests were ignored, the red-head single-mindedly leading her by the hand to a bench. Dani gritted her teeth. So she was being ignored, huh? She weakly pulled at the hand holding her, with half a mind to intangibly slip away. But… no. She wouldn’t do that. (Dami’s panicked face when he thought she’d run away again flashed in her mind.) No. She wouldn’t do that to him.
“Sit.” Jazz instructed, pointing down.
One last try… Dani fixed wide pleading eyes on her brother, looking for an ally. Someone to put a stop to this and insist they go out for ice cream instead.
No such luck. The boy pointed to the seat too, face just as serious as the older teens.
“Traitor.” The clone girl muttered, sitting with a huff.
Fine. She’d just do what the other two want then. It was fine. (That everything being great didn’t last that long, huh?)
Jazz used the metal shoe-size measuring thing to figure out Dani’s size. Then, the older two teens offered various shoes to try on, much to Dani’s complaints. Sparkly Mary Janes? Really?
Dani hated (or at least pretended to hate) every option and yet, Jazz would not take no for an answer. “I refuse to let my little sister leave here without at least one new pair of shoes.”
The younger girl wrinkled her nose. Her? Jazz’s little sister? No way…. Part of her recoiled at the thought. Just like she thought before, letting Jazz and Dami buy her fun stuff was one thing but this was too much, too serious. They were trying to take care of her again. (Like she deserved that. This week… even… even getting to have fun and not be alone was too much, too good for a mistake like-)
No. Was this really such a bad thing, being taken care of, being helped? (Being loved?)
In the end, she didn’t say anything more.
Danielle accepted the shoes with minimal argument. And she barely complained when Jazz dragged her clothes shopping. It was… actually kinda fun, like playing dress up. But only kinda.
After picking out some basics - jeans, t-shirts, a new hoodie, underwear, socks, and something Jazz called a ‘training bra’- Jazz had offered a dress. It was pink and sleeveless, cinching at the waist and falling to her knees.
Dani frowned into the mirror, head turning side to side as she studied herself. The girl swiveled at the waist, watching the skirt flare. Gently, she took her hair down out of its ponytail. It fell to her shoulders, and she gave a full twirl this time (like she’d seen Barbie do in the movie).
“Dani! Let us see!” Jazz cheered from outside the stall.
Swallowing nervously, the girl opened the door. “Ta-Da?” She spread her hands.
“You look so pretty.” The red-head clapped. “Danny, look!”
The boy looked up from his phone; he’d quickly gotten bored while Jazz picked out clothes for her to try out. And yet he still smiled, eyes lighting up as he saw her. “Looks great, sis.”
Dani swiveled nervously. “You think so?”
Both teens nodded, the affirmatives easing some of the tension in her chest.
“Do you like it, Dani?” Jazz asked, tone earnest.
The younger clone turned to the mirror, staring at herself again. With her face clean of dirt, her hair brushed and clean, wearing this dress… she almost didn’t recognize herself in the mirror. She looked like a different person. And…. something in her relaxed, the corners of her lips turning up. She thought she liked the person she saw.
Dani turned back. “I think I do.” She finally smiled.
“We’ll buy it too then.” The oldest teen said. “Do you want to try out anything else? Or go anywhere else?”
The youngest girl’s brow furrowed, considering. “Can we go to that dark store with the loud music? The one with the skeleton in a suit in the window?” (Bones… her heart whispered sadly, imagining her clone brother in his favorite bedsheet.)
Both older siblings laughed, Dami rolling his eyes. “Yes, we can go to HotTopic. Sam’s going to love that when I tell her.”
“What? Why?” Dani’s brow furrowed.
“It’s her favorite.” The boy wiggled his fingers. “Since it’s so dark and moody.” At the continued confusion. “She’s goth.”
The girl nodded, still not quite understanding. What was a goth?
Still, she quickly took off the dress and put back on the hand-me-downs. The three gathered all the clothes and bought them at the register.
Walking through the doors of HotTopic- It was even better on the inside! Dani didn’t even know what half the things were but they were cool. There were dresses with spiderwebs and bats and galaxies. T-shirts with all things spooky and weird- including ghosts to her and Dami’s excitement and Jazz’s groan. And so much jewelry in different shapes and colors. Danny and her looked through the clearance rack and found matching black shirts with giant red spiders.
“It’s Spiderman!” Dani cheered. (She knew who Spiderman was, at least!)
“We should get them.” The boy suggested, pulling out a third. “There’s another one. This’ll fit Jazz, right?”
He shoved it at the red-head who eyed it suspiciously. She took the garment and held it in front of herself. “Yes. It would?” She frowned. “I don’t even like Spiderman though.”
“How do you not like Spiderman?!” Dami argued, offended. “Even Dani likes Spiderman.”
“Yeah!” The younger girl agreed. “Hey, wait…” That felt a bit like she’d been insulted.
“Okay. I’m ambivalent to Spiderman.” Jazz huffed.
“I don’t know what you being able to write with either hand has to do with this.” Dami countered smartly. “But I can’t tolerate this wishy-washy attitude towards the best superhero ever.”
“Good grief.” The older girl snatched up all three shirts. “I’m just going to buy them so you shut up.”
The boy followed, a victorious gleam in his eyes.
Dani hurried after, poking him in the arm. “Spiderman is really cool, but…” She remembered their first mall visit, the Amity Park store with all its Danny Phantom merch. Her brother holding the plushie… his tiny likeness, nose wrinkled suspiciously. Her voice lowered conspiratorially. “Danny Phantom’s definitely the best superhero ever.”
He stopped, looking down at her. His eyes crinkled, an authentic affection. “Have I told you you’re my favorite sister today?”
The younger girl smiled up at him, her heart warming. She took his hand and very softly…. “You’re my favorite brother…” A hesitation, which name to use? Part of her heart said Damian, as she’d said this whole week. But…. “Danny.” She finally said. Danny Phantom, the ghost boy she’d fought Skulker with, who just taught her how to make shields.
She still didn’t understand at all but he was both. Damian and Danny. And Danny wasn’t so bad.…
Her brother’s eyes rounded and softened. He squeezed her hand back, not commenting on the name. But still there was something… a gentle gratitude on his face.
Then giving Danielle another smile, Danny looked forward…. “Hey Jazz, can we get ice cream?”
Back in the food court, the three finished the trip with ice cream.
Like earlier, doubts and questions, guilt and shame, still lingered in Dani’s core. So many thoughts and worries (things she probably needed to talk to Danny about)….
But finally giving into the older two teens' desire to buy her her own clothes and letting herself enjoy the experience. Finally calling her brother by his other (first? real?) name, Danny....
It was like, some of the weight was lifted from her shoulders, a new peace countering the pain in her heart.
Maybe, Danny had noticed that new lightness in her too. “Enjoying your ice cream?” He asked, a freer, more easy jovialness in his voice. (Like just seeing her happier made him happier)
The girl nodded enthusiastically. “Cotton Candy is the best!”
The boy laughed, eyes sparkling teasingly. “You haven’t even tried mint chip yet.”
The two bantered for a bit about ice cream flavors, Dani squealing indignantly as Danny ruffled her hair with sticky fingers. He grinned smugly… then let out his own offended squawk at the youngers’ sticky fingered assault.
Luckily, Jazz intervened before any ice cream could be spilled. “Stop! You’ll get drips all over your clothes.”
The boy sobered slightly. Then, popping the end of the cone in his mouth… “Hey, do you want to go to the park with me tonight?” He asked Dani.
“Sure.” The clone girl nodded. Then… “Why tonight?”
The boy shrugged. “There’s something extra fun about hanging out there after dark. Not having to share it with anyone.” He smiled down at her, excitement shining in his eyes. But then… “There’s just… something special when the park’s dark and quiet. The wind’s blowing through the trees, the fireflies are out. And the stars…” A quiet reverence, a strange wistfulness lingered in the words. And when he met her eyes… “I really want you to see it.”
Dani couldn’t say no. Despite the odd seriousness and intensity… (There was more to this than just sitting on the swings and riding down the slide in the dark, wasn’t there?). The girl couldn’t help but smile, her heart filled with warmth. “I’d love to.”
Hi~ can I ask for headcanons for that retro scarf rebellion please
YE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~ This fun relationship started after Jazz found the new secret human world hiding spot the two were hiding in, and kept it a secret from Danny and her family and instead come by time to time talking to them and hearing their sides of the stories
~ After a bit of their meetings things slowly began to happen without either one knowing it. Excitement for the next hangout, sad when it ends, stuff like that
~ How Jazz realized her feelings was during a motorcycle ride when she looked ahead and looked at the for a moment share a kiss together and seemed happy being on the rode like this
~ How they realized was more of them thinking and talking about Jazz then thought of Jazz dying one day...and they hated that
~ They go on dates like diners and biker bars, and Kitty and Johnny aren't scared to get into bar fights if something happens. Neither does Jazz
~ They would come to Jazz's window and either she sneaks them in or they sneak her out in the night when her parents are asleep
~ Danny wasn't too thrilled when he first heard about this and Johnny doesn't help a damn bit on teasing him
~ "Can we speed this up lil man? I have a date with your sister"
~ How they cuddle/sleep together is something I have thought about since I had been wanting to draw it for a while! So it's Johnny sleeping on his back a little to his right side with Jazz sleeping on top of his right arm on her back and Kitty flopped on top of both of them with Johnny and Jazz's arm(s) over her and their legs a tangled mess
Got another DP x DC prompt for yall:
Things in Amity are going bad, the GIW are getting more aggressive and Jack and Maddie are starting to suspect there is something ghostly going on with Danny and Jazz is scared out of her mind and desperate to get them the hell out or dodge before she comes home one day to find her baby brother strapped to a table in the basement or worse.
She knows there's no way she's going to be able to get custody of Danny though (maybe she's still a minor herself, maybe she is over eighteen but it takes more than being a legal adult to get custody of a kid, and Jazz just doesn't have what the government is looking for and she can't risk Danny getting lost in the system) and even if she could, where could they possibly go? Even if they ran away, they don't have any way to survive.
Half out of her mind with stress and exhaustion late one night she ends up digging through their family tree looking for someone, anyone, that looks like they might be able to help, that could at least get them away from Amity Park if nothing else. She and Danny had each other, and literally anything was better then the nightmare creeping ever closer.
And somehow it doesn't even take that long, maybe luck finally shifting their way for once, maybe Clockwork nudging things along just right, but she finds someone.
As far as family relations go, they're on branches as far away from each other as possible while still being on the same tree. And of course the person in question has a pretty massive criminal background and is still super obviously involved in some shady stuff, but Jazz does her research and can see that - criminal mastermind or no - there's no history of vivisecting children or ghost hunting and honestly the Goonion review is pretty glowing.
Besides, Gotham's ambiant ectoplasm is about the same as Amity Park's, it'll help keep Danny (and her, really, as liminal as she is) healthy.
It's a long shot, but short of fleeing to the Ghost Zone and praying their parents don't chase after them, it's all she’s got. So, using one of Tucker's programs, she gets ahold of a phone number and makes the call.
To say that Oswald Cobblepot is surprised by her reaching out and suspicious of her desperate request would be an under statement.
But he knows a con, and this doesn't sound like one. The girl on the other end of the line sounds close to tears, begging him to hear her out, pleading for his help. When he has his people investigate he finds that Jasmine Fenton isn't lying. They are distant cousins - very distant - and the kids' parents are honestly Arkham levels of insane and the kids' teachers have been getting progressively more frantic in their reporting on their concerns. The notes on Daniel Fenton and the number of visible injuries he's been going to school with are particularly concerning. As is the fact that the Drs. Fenton are apparently scientists on top of being entirely mad.
Call Oswald a soft touch, but there's an old childhood wound deep in his heart that has him feeling for the kids, and from what he’s seen of Jasmine - Jazz, she said to call her, and her little brother is Danny, not Daniel - she's got the kind of drive he admires.
And hell it's not as if he can't afford to put them up in an apartment somewhere out of the way if they turn out to be too much trouble. Besides adopting a couple of sad kids from a shitty home can only be good for his reputation, look how well it worked for Bruce Wayne.
Maybe if he plays his cards right, he can set up a play date with the Wayne kids or something, really get some good networking in.
The Darkness Within
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/DNFQUkw
by stellawolf1
Danny is scared. The entire world is against him, his own ghost core is against him. No matter where he looks, hides, or goes there's something ready to jump out of the darkness to continue this endless nightmare. He's all alone with nowhere to go. So he stays in Gotham, a bit cliché for a man on the run but just cliché enough to work.
...maybe a little too well.
Danny Phantom Family Road Trip
So I'm on holiday with my family (we're being safe) and it got me thinking about what it would be like for all of the Fenton's to be on a holiday together.
I mentioned this on the discord and @lucifer-is-a-bag-of-dicks and I brainstormed this chaotic mess. Also, Lula's sister hulled so much weight with god-tier with dialogue, honestly, it's fantastic.
On this fun family trip, we have everyone.
Jack, Maddie, Danny, Jazz, Dani (Ellie), Dan, Aunt Alica, Flynn, and Vlad.
The Fenton's are all travelling in the Fenton RV and the seating configuration is like a maxi-taxi.
So driver and passenger.
Three backwards facing seats,
Three forward-facing seats looking at the backwards seats.
And three seats at the back. However, since there are only nine people on this trip two of the seats in the last row are put down to make room for the luggage. Meaning there's one lonesome seat at the back.
Jack and Maddie take turns driving, and Aunt Alica puts her hat in the ring for that too. But Jack drives first. So the main seating configuration is. Jack (driver), Ellie (passenger), she wants to see the sights.
Danny, Maddie and Dan are in the backwards-facing seats with Maddie in the middle. As soon as it's known that Maddie isn't sitting in the passenger seat both Danny and Dan simultaneously say, "I'm sitting next to mom," then glare at each other for it. But then reluctantly agree to it when they both realise that the other is stopping Vlad from sitting next to Maddie.
Next in the front-facing seats, we have Jazz, Flynn and Aunt Alica. Aunt Alica insisted on sitting next to Flynn (partially for Flynn, partially for her sister so she could keep Vlad further away from Maddie).
Finally, in the lonely seat in the back, we have Vlad, in Lula's words, being a sad little meow meow. Vlad is trying desperately to make eye contact with Maddie during this trip. It's important to note that Alica keeps moving her hair to keep getting in the way of Vlad's sightline of Maddie, while opening up for Dan's glorious death stare. Alica is in front of Vlad and Dan is in front of her, and somehow they unknowingly (on Dan's part, Aunt Alica can clearly see the death stare directed at Vlad) work together to reduce Vlad's interactions with Maddie.
On the next driving shift, Maddie is the driver and Vlad manages to sneak into the passenger seat, and Alica declares that she wants to take the next driving shift.
Dan sits in the front-facing seat behind the passenger and Vlad can feel his unblinking gaze. Dan is giving a death stare through the review mirror.
Danny and Dan have one thing in common, and that's the desire to stare Vlad down. It's the only mutual ground they have.
"Shit's tense but at least we both hate Vlad," as Lula said.
Danny 🤝 Dan Hating Vlad
Flynn meanwhile is glad to be home and with his family, but Dan, a full ghost, feels more familiar to be around. Flynn and Dan are a bit awkward a first because socialising??? With other beings?? Positively???
But they start to hang out more, partially because they're both the older 'kids'. They probably become friends by the end of the trip. And it's good because they both need friends. Big bro energy!!
Jazz joins them whenever she wants to because they're adults but they're closer to her age. Together they are the BIG SIB SQUAD!!
Danny and Ellie are cool just chilling with each other, but they would be annoying little shits, especially to Jazz, who's still a kid and not an adult like Flynn and Dan.
The baby sibs would annoy the shit out of all of the big sibs, less so for Flynn, at least at the start. They don't want to scare him off.
But then they pull a prank on Dan and get Flynn in on it, after all, Flynn knows how to sneak around ghosts after living in the ghost zone for years.
All of the kids team up for an epic prank on Vlad and to ensure that none of them gets caught. Vlad is sure it's at least Danny and Ellie, but he has no proof, and he only slightly thinks it might have been all of them.
During this trip, Jazz has taken it on herself to update Flynn and Ellie's knowledge of the world. And during this Danny and Dan say dumb untrue shit like, "You forgot about the sinkhole that ate the Eiffel Tower," and "What about the alien invasion last year?"
And Jazz gets exasperated, "THOSE THINGS DID NOT HAPPEN!"
And Dan counters, "How do you know they didn't happen in my timeline?"
And sometimes Danny and Dan say the same wild thing at the same time, with almost the exact same wording.
"There was a dinosaur resurrected with DNA found in a mosquito," - Danny
"Don't forget the dinosaur resurrected with DNA found in a Mosquito," - Dan
And they end in sync.
When they do it, it pisses them both off to no end.
But Danny and Dan saying the exact same thing really throws off Flynn who thinks that it probably happened.
(Thank Lula's sister for this next part 😊)
During the trip, they try to pass time with games, so Maddie goes, "How about we play I Spy? Dan, what do you spy?"
Dan staring directly at Vlad, "A little bitch."
Danny wants to guess so bad, but can't say it in front of his parents. But he's dying from Dan's comment.
But Flynn the newbie to the situation and to this 'game' goes, "Vlad?"
Flynn has seen where Dan has been looking this whole time and just, genuinely thinks this is how the game is played. Socially oblivious Flynn Walker.
Dan turns to Flynn and goes, "Yes, you're right."
Maddie smiles but schools it quickly. Jack, is also a bit amused. But together Maddie and Jack start to scold their 24-year-old murderous ghost son. All while Ellie is giggling, Jazz is trying to hide her smile behind her book and Flynn is smiling. Aunt Alica is greatly amused, but has a resting bitch face so only Flynn and Maddie can tell that.
Through breathless laughs, Danny says, "You got it right Flynn so it's your go."
And Flynn now very confident with this incorrect idea of how this game works, stares down Jazz and goes, "I spy a nerd."
"Jazz!" says Ellie joining in. She also has a very confident and incorrect idea of how the game is played.
“Yes,” says Flynn.
Everyone gives a little chuckle and Jazz goes, "Ok your go Ellie,"
Ellie turns and stares Danny down, "I spy a prototype"
Seeing his chance to make a snide comment at Danny, Vlad goes, with fake innocence, "Is it, Daniel?"
Ellie confirms it is.
Then Vlad goes, "I spy utter perfection," as he looks at Maddie.
At the same time, three people speak,
"ME!" says Jack.
While simultaneously Ellie and Flynn go, "That's not how the game is played!"
Then Danny and Dan go, "Yeah Vlad that's not how you play the game," like the little shits they are.
Jack then goes, "Does this mean I'm not perfection?"
"Yes," says Vlad quietly.
Nobody liked that, but only the halfa's the ghost, and Flynn heard it.
At this point, they start all arguing about the rules of the game and the whole thing is completely unsalvageable.
Then Jack teaches Ellie the 'bottles of beer on the wall' song. There is much regret and torment in the RV after that.
Jazz takes this as an opportunity to teach Ellie the numbers over 20 that she doesn't know.
Dan immediately says that he'll fly and meet them there.
Maddie turns on the ghost shield and gives Dan a deep stare which shows she knows the horrors of this song, "If I suffer, so will you."
Aunt Alica is just enjoying the shit show and vibing. She lives off the grid where she has to entertain herself with her fellow rednecks. Incessant drunken singing is practically her every Saturday night.
Flynn is just disassociating.
Vlad hates this.
Danny joins in with the song, this was his whole jam when he was the youngest. He's having a great time.
Danny loves how it's tormenting Vlad and purposefully messes up the song, in the single digits.
"Damn it Danny you messed it up! Now I have to start over again," says Ellie.
"Oh no it's okay I remember where we're up to-" starts Jazz.
"No Jazz she has to start over it's the law," says Danny before then turning to Vlad with the biggest shit eating grin.
Maddie and Dan continue to die. However, Vlad is dying more. Not even Jack killed him this much.
We also get a beach episode, because why not.
Flynn and Ellie would be so weirded out by the ocean.
Aunt Alica, goes, well I haven't been to the beach in a while and proceeds to show everyone how buff she is. The only people who can compete with her is Dan and Jack.
Vlad's skinny arse is also outclassed by Maddie too.
Jazz would be insisting that everyone be sun safe.
Dan comes out from the change room in a sun shirt and board shorts.
"Jazz, why am I wearing this?" Dan gestures to the sun shirt.
"So you don’t get sunburnt of course," responds Jazz.
Dan looks Jazz dead in the eyes, "Jazz, I'm literally dead."
For the sleeping arrangements, everyone's in tents. The kids get split up into 'boys' and 'girls'.
Vlad brings his own luxury tent and invites Maddie to stay with him, but Aunt Alica declares that she wants to bunk with her sister. So Vlad ends up with Jack, the loud snorer. And he can't murder Jack in his sleep because everyone (at least the kids) would know it was him.
I also have art to go with this. Link.
Danny Phantom Head Canons Part 1
These are some of my Danny Phantom head canons that I put in place for all of my Danny phantom stories.  I hope you enjoy.
1. Danny uses the term ‘his humans’ when he is talking about Jazz, Sam, and Tucker.  He is very protective and territorial over them around other ghosts and threats.  The other ghosts refer to them as 'Phantom's humans' and know not to mess with them or they will suffer the wrath of Danny. Danny just picked it up from them and uses that terminology for when he is talking to other ghosts, and sometimes he slips up and says it around other humans, forgetting that it is not a normal thing to say.
2. Kitty has the power to create Daggers out of thin air and throw them at people or hold them to peoples throats when she is trying to threaten them.  She makes them out of ectoplasm.
3. Danny growls at other people when he is mad or being territorial, either over his humans or his haunt.
4. Danny’s teeth sharpen when he gets really mad, giving him the appearance of fangs.  Also his ghost form only has carnivore teeth and no herbivore teeth.  His claws also lengthen when he is mad.
5. Danny will always be worried about his humans and checking on them, so he will often fly around them in circles, making sure they are okay.
6. Skulker refers to anyone Danny is dating as his mate, and Danny gets really flustered and annoyed whenever he does that.  Skulker doesn't understand why Danny would be flustered.  That is the correct term after all.
7. Danny’s blush is green in his ghost form as his blood is green in his ghost form, much like all other ghosts.
8. Danny has a protection obsession and would always be thinking about other people before himself. And if there is a danger in the room he will put himself in between the other people and the danger.
9. In his ghost form he can change his clothing if he concentrates really hard.  He can change his phantom suit into a black t-shirt with a Danny Phantom logo in the corner, and dark blue jeans.  Same white hair and green eyes.  If he is just transforming normally he would just go straight to what he died in as it uses less energy.  Kitty was the one who first taught how to shift the appearance of his ectoplasm and change his clothes.
10. Danny has hyper reactive ears in his ghost form, they are pointed like elf ears and he also has one of them pierced with a black earring.  His ears portray his emotions just as much as his eyebrows.  Pinning back when he is scared or angry, perking up when he is happy, surprised or interested, and twitching when he is annoyed. His ears look like normal human ears when he is in his human form.
11. When Danny is really stressed or mad he will make the room colder with his core subconsciously.
12. All ghosts are territorial with each other, they will often fight or threaten one another.  But they will all see it as completely normal.  They will get territorial over their obsession, people they care about, their haunt/lare, extra.  Danny sees them threatening to kill him, as completely normal for ghost personalities.  He even threatens other ghosts from time to time.  But when he is around other people they are weirded out about how cool the other ghosts are about threatening each other.
13. All ghosts also have an honor about them, they are not the kind to stab someone in the back, and they don’t often like to lie.  Witch is one of the main reasons why most ghosts never attack Danny’s family/humans, or even other random strangers just to get Danny to lose his game.  That would be considered using Danny’s obsession against him to win in a battle, and would be dishonorable.  If they were going to battle Phantom, they would battle Phantom, not trying to sneak up on him or kill his family to get the upper hand.  Most of the fights would be considered territory battles and would be against 2 ghosts head on. Each battling on equal ground.
14. Sam has been trying to convince Kitty to break up with Johnny, she tells her it is a toxic relationship.  But Kitty always ends up going back to him.
15. Kitty and Johnny died together after running away together, they died in a motorcycle accident and always swore they would stay together.
16. Danny got his ghostly wail when he died in the portal because he was screaming so loud that it got imprinted into his powers.  That is why Vlad doesn't have a ghostly wail.
17. Everyone in the ghost zone for miles of the portal heard Danny’s screams when he died.  They would sometimes describe it as the most terrifying and painful scream they have ever heard.
18. Danny has really bad nightmares about when he died, Dan, and being experimented on.  He has not told Sam and Tucker about these nightmares but he has told Jazz, she is trying to work with him on these nightmares and help him get better.
19. Lots of the ghosts are placing bets on who Danny will end up dating.  Example.  Technus is voting for Danny and Valerie to date, whereas Ember is voting for Danny and Sam to date.
20. Shadow can’t talk but other ghosts around him can feel his emotions through their cores, like through the air.  Happy, sad, scared, mad, extra.
These were some of my head cannons, I have 83 of them already written down.  Please tell me if you want to see more and what you thought of them.
And also, what are some of your own Danny phantom head canons?  I would love to hear about them!
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
From a young age, Jack Fenton wanted a life of adventure and excitement. Working on his family’s quiet farm in the middle of nowhere never sat right with him. Late one night, he sees something he can’t explain in the woods which sparks a lifelong passion for the supernatural. He worked day and night at various odd jobs once he was old enough in order to save up money for school. Pa and him had a huge row when he saw how much money Jack had saved over the years. That money could’ve bought new equipment, could have put food in his sisters’ mouths. But Jack held fast, he loved his family but he needed to find his own way and he wouldn’t find it here. As soon as he got his acceptance letter for his college of choice, he left the farm and never looked back.
Rooming with Vlad Masters was a struggle at first but his roommate’s intense desire to prove Jack wrong about ghosts eventually sparked a friendly continuing argument which just became friendly in general. Jack was too loud, too enthusiastic for everyone else, almost always the biggest and broadest guy in the room. Jack first met Maddie during college orientation, or rather he met her bountiful bushy red hair 3 rows up that his eyes kept wandering to. He met her properly when they got into an intense discussion of the use of the supernatural in fiction during literature class. Girls had never registered for Jack before, always seemed less interesting than his research. But Maddie, she like a revelation in and of herself. They continued their debate after class, into the dining hall where Vlad somehow got roped in. They exchanged phone numbers and continued their theories long into the night. They never really stopped.
Maddie was like the campfires Pa used to make when he was young. She was small and contained but with an all-encompassing energy that warmed everyone around her. He finally met his match with her, her enthusiasm encouraged his and vice versa. Her mind thought differently from Jack but in a complementary way, he did his best thinking when she was there to bounce ideas off of. As close as he and Vlad were, sometimes the whole world disappeared when Maddie was around. Vlad proclaimed his desire to date Maddie on a couple of occasions, asking Jack to back him up. Jack never knew how to answer, it should be okay as long as the two of them were happy and he and Maddie could stay friends. But he couldn’t just ignore that chemistry he felt when Jack’s eyes met hers.
 Vlad’s accident occurred not long afterwards, he was stuck in the hospital and forced to drop out of school their last semester. The guilt ate away at Jack but Maddie made things better. He danced with her for their last college dance, kissed her for the first time as they threw their caps into the air for graduation. Being with her was like being whole for the first time in his life. When he got down on his knee and asked her to be his lab partner for life, it was the best thing he’d ever done. They had something of a shotgun wedding, neither of them had two nickels to rub together both coming from poor families and a load of student debt. Jack couldn’t afford to rent a suit so he wore his hazmat suit, figuring Mads would get a kick out of it. When she walked down the aisle with her lab goggles on, he knew he’d found the one.
They moved to Amity Park, a peaceful but still bustling suburb an hour outside Chicago. In their research, they’d discovered several anomalies in and around the area that suggested it was a hot bed of paranormal activity. They bought a house and worked on making it their own. Maddie initially hadn’t wanted children, wanting to focus more on their work. Jack, however, had come from a big family and had wanted kids even when he’d been a kid. Many long discussions and time to settle and soon they had a beautiful daughter. He asked to name her Jasmine. His mother had loved the smell and kept it around the house growing up, even years later, the scent calmed him. Looking at the precious girl in his arms, he knew that she would be his new home.
Danny had been a little bit of a surprise. Him and Mads were content with their chatty, precocious daughter. They hadn’t even discussed having a second when they found out she was pregnant several months in. She hadn’t been symptomatic, Maddie fretted the rest of the pregnancy, worried she’s inadvertently harmed their child by exposing herself to chemicals. But everything turned out alright, Danny was born just fine, if a solid pound smaller than Jasmine. While Jazzy had wailed and wailed, Danny was a quiet baby, instead choosing to look around with wide, curious eyes. When he gripped Jack’s finger and brought it into his little mouth, Jack was smitten.
He loved being a scientist, a husband, but Jack especially loved being a father. Maddie said he never quite grew out of being a kid and he agreed with her. The sound of his daughters delighted screams as he ran around the house with her on his shoulders. The beaming smile Danny gave when Jack held him up high so he could be closer to the night sky. He loved his work, an obsession he was more than willing to admit, but his heart truly lied with his family. Jack could have lived an eternity in those early days when his children looked up at him like he could do no wrong. Of course, it wouldn’t last. Children grew up, socialized and learned that ghost hunting wasn’t the cool, legitimate profession they’d believed. His kids loved them but there was a separation that hadn’t existed before, a disconnect of a passionate farm boy searching for the unknown to modern kids who didn’t understand what it meant to to crave understanding.
Maddie was the one who shopped the idea of working on the portal again. Jack had been skeptical at first, it had been his dream but after what happened with Vlad and with the kids still living in the house... But Vlad was fine now, on his way to being a millionaire the last Jack heard and his thirst for knowledge couldn’t be quenched. It took years to draw up the schematics and begin building. The process was slow, made slower by Maddie going back to school for her second degree in psychics, by losses of funding, taking shady government contracts to put food on the table. When he saw the sad, hungry looks on his kids’ faces when they had discount TV dinners, he finally understood his father’s anger over Jack selfishly hoarding money for college. But years of blood, sweat and tears saw the fruition of their dreams completed.
The portal hadn’t worked right away to his immense disappointment only to miraculous start up when him and Maddie weren’t looking. Danny started acting sick immediately after, enough to scare the hell out of Jack. Visions of Vlad’s ecto-scarred face and the sounds of him vomiting up blood and ectoplasm haunted him. Not his Danny, not his sweet boy. But Danny recovered and things seemingly went back to normal. They say hindsight is 20/20 but Jack will curse himself until the day he died for not seeing the signs until it was spelled out for him. He knew Maddie and him were unconventional but he tried to foster love and trust in their home. The idea that his son didn’t think he could come to them for the dramatic changes the portal had done to him, that he was scared of them. Jack wept heartily at the thought of how he’d failed, that he’d been the sort of prejudiced, uninterested father like his Pa had been.
So he’d gotten down on his knees, making himself smaller and less threatening to his boy - he was so tall now, when had that happened - and asked for another chance. Danny, always too kind for his own good, forgave them. He said it before Jack believed he meant it but it was the biggest relief he’d ever felt in his life to have the opportunity to make things right. It was hard, erasing decades of biases. To not jump when Danny acted a bit too ghostly, to not to correct him when his boy made some comment on ghosts that Jack disagreed with. But he listened and he learned and even though his heart was already fit to burst, he found more love in his heart for his son. His son, who carried a heavy burden with dignity and grown into twice the man Jack was when he hadn’t been looking. Jazz too was paving her own way forward with the same zeal and intelligence that Jack admired so in Maddie.
His wife, his friend, his lab partner for life stood by his side as their children left home to change the world. When he was young, Jack dreamed of excitement, of never-ending exploration and fearsome battles. He got all of that, and more, but he also found something else. Jack found people who loved him for all his eccentricities, who he felt free to be as loud as silly as he desired. He raised two beautiful children who he loved more every day and who he knew loved in return. He wished he could tell his younger self that while excitement put hair on your chest, his Ma and Pa had been right in that family was something worth investing in. Jack Fenton made staggering advancements to the field of ectology over the years but his greatest accomplishment, should you ask him, would be living his best life with the woman of his dreams and their children.
I'm having memory issues to lets give Tucker some aswell. @imdeadtiredtm @ghost-pasta @faeroseghost @bibliophilea
Tucker has a problem. He knows he has a problem because it's consistent, always lacking at the back of his brain, taunting him while he tries to ignore it. He doesn't know when it began, but he knows that some days everything goes fizzy and next thing he knows, a whole day has passed with no memory of what or how it played out, and it keeps happening to the point he doesn't understand why Danny and Sam shared worry glances when he asks them to repeat what they just said. They keep telling him that there's something wrong, that he needs help, that he needs to tell someone about it, but he just can't. He'll go home, laugh and smile at his dads jokes while his mom scolds his baby sister for spilling her food on the floor while eating dinner and Tucker doesn't want to ruin the moment so he waits. Waiting ends up with him getting up in the morning, the buzzing faintly in the distance as he doesn't remember finishing the dinner, he doesn't remember what happened after or how he even hot to bed, and his mama smiles sadly at him from the doorway, a knowing glint in her eye as she tell him to get ready for school. The buzzing gets louder at the sight.
He goes to school with a smile,, trying to ignore the buzzing in the background while Tucker meets up with his friends,, they also have that knowing glint. Danny comments on his eyes, telling him that he won't look at them in the eyes and they are shifting towards every sound, and Sam jokes that he needs a therapist. That Jazz would be willing to help, but the way she says it is never really a joke as she gives him a side hug and changes the topic. It's slightly off putting to be told to talk to his best friends older sister, you she just got into her dream college and barely has time to face them. Then again, they barely had time to face time anyways with all the new baddies that seem to appear every day. Turns out, the ghost zone is bigger than they previously thought, after that one weird ghost lady named Lily kidnapped Danny for his ghost shots, it became apparent that his powers were abnormal so now it's an even more free for all with more baddies.
Tucker sucked in his teeth as he realizes he's reached home, he doesn't remember after the first period, after the buzzing got louder and now so does his temper. He tried to remember what mama always told him. She said it so much that it was almost etched in his head, why can't he remember? Tucker groaned and sat on the side of the curve, uncaring about the steps to the door, or how he got here. His mama said it all the time, every time he was in pickle. Oh why can't he remember? It hurt, his mama always left a large impact on him, she was his number one supporter and always cheered him on, even after he started losing his hearing. It's starting to tear him apart.
He clutched his head and squeezed heels eyes shut. He doesn't want to forget those memories he's had, he can't! These were his happy memories, things found randomly to bring out for a small laugh, or to cheer him up, just why can't he remember? Tucker groaned in frustration, first it was hearing, not his memories!? What's next? Is he going to lose a limb while out helping Danny hunt ghosts? He knows he's probably jingling himself but every single time something new happens, it seems to all go wrong now. Is the world out to get him and his friends? Is that it? The observant are probably laughing at him and his struggles.. Tears started to form but refused to fall, and the world started to fade around him. Tucker pulled his hearing aids off and blankly stared at them in his hand, buzzing growing and thoughts starting to slip away.
Distinctly, with the little hearing he had left, Tucker heard a small speaking sound, just barely past the sound of a car horn, that grew louder until it stopped right next to him. A glowing shoe tapped him with no response. There was a bit more squeaking before his unoccupied hand got tugged away from his head and something warm was pressed against it. A mug, and a dark blue glowing hand that was keeping it there. Tucker looked up just the slightest bit to see the mouth of the ghost, which was in an extremely soft smile, before looking back at the mug. Thoughts fuzzy and the buzzing the loudest, Tucker placed his hearing aids down and pulled it towards his lips, and without a thought, took a large gulp. A small part of him knew there would be consequences later of taking something from a ghost without knowing what it was, but it went down his throat like a warm drink on a cold day, reminding him distinctly as hot chocolate.
The more he drank, the quieter the buzz got, the clearer his thoughts got. Tucker almost finished the cup before he realized what he had done and jolted, before going to put the mug down. Only to be stopped by the same blue hands, much bigger than his now that he's a bit more aware. Without much more resistance he finished it. He grew hazy again but this time with memory, memory of when he first got his hearing aid and he and his mom had gone to go get ice creams before his dads came home.
"Mijo, whenever you are struggling you gotta pick yourself up, go to the nearest person you trust, and say 'I need help' don't ever feel embarrassed or scared to make sure you are the best you can be." She said before leaning down and wiping his ice cream covered face with a napkin. He laughed, pushing her away lightly, telling her to stop but she just smiled and held it out for him to grab. Mama always said weird things like this, but she always said this the most.
Tucker gasped, he remembered! He smiled really wildly, before getting up and running to his house, slamming the door open without any care and jumping into his mothers arms. His mama was right, he should never be scared to ask for help. She gently squeezed him, and tears seemed to come out faster. Oh wait! The ghost and his hearing aids! He jumped back, and went to turn before his mama stopped him and asked what was wrong. Tucker reached up and felt along his ears, the aids were ready in, he turned towards the open door and peeked out, the street was completely empty and the lights were on, the ghost nowhere to be seen.
His mama asked him again what's wrong, Tucker looked back at her with a sad smile before closing the door. Sorry Danny but he could never hide the truth from his mama, he won't tell her his secret, but he will get help. Wandering back into his mama's arms, Tucker started to explain.
Danny Phantom Xover pt. 3
short and “sweet” UwU
Today Bruce decided to bring Dick to the hospital with him, he had forgotten what day it was and the importance of that day.
When the pair got to the hospital they were greeted by Jazz reading next to her brother’s bed, Danny seemed no worse than yesterday when Dick and Bruce saw him last. The boy’s eyes tracked the pair of superheroes around the room with a deadly unblinking stare. Bruce said hi to Jazz and Danny while dick merly waved.
“Are the two of you prepared to be questioned?” Jazz began the conversation with a question.
Dick beat Bruce to the punch, “About what??”
“Well the ghost will be asking about a lot of different things, though i guess the main question is where you live as word has gotten around town that Danny will be moving. Ghosts don’t really have human tact nor keep up with celebrity gossip, so they’re not really going to know who you are.”
“I see, I’m sure it’ll be fine if that’s all.” Bruce replied.
The group sat for a good minute until the first ghost got there.The ghost was an old lady in a uniform you would see behind the counter at a soup kitchen. She had a sad but kind look on her face. The lady was followed by a young lady with white hair and glowing green eyes, she was wearing a black and white crop top and pants. The girl also looked sad.
“Hi Lunch Lady, Danni.” Jazz got up and hugged the ghosts, then the two turned their eyes to Danny, “He’s been like that ever since he woke in the hospital..”
“I see.” the older ghost, apparently called ‘Lunch Lady’, sighed. “Well,” she huffed, “Where is the man you said would house him? I think you called him Dick?”
A humourless laugh left Jazz as she said, “His name is Bruce, Dick is his son’s name,  and they’re both right there.” she moved to point to the dynamic duo.
Bruce got up and held out a hand to Lunch Lady, “Hello, I’m Bruce.”
As Bruce talked with Lunch Lady, the young lady- called Danny also?- looked at Bruce weary.
“Do you have any questions for me, uh-”
“Dani.”
“Danny?” Bruce looked to Jazz for confirmation.
“Dani with an I, me Jazz and Danny have been figuring something else out but for now it’s still Dani.”
“Alright then Dani, do you have any questions for me?”
Dani squinted with suspicion at Bruce before glancing at Jazz and saying, “No.. well. That’s a lie, Can we visit Danny at any time?”
It seemed apparent to Bruce that the answer to that question would determine how this particular ghost thinks of him and he answered honestly, “Yes, as long as you cause no trouble.”
Dani visibly relaxed at that answer, though she did not end up more talkative. It took only a few more minutes for more ghosts to pour in, some of which made the nurse who came to check on Danny look scared for either her life or the equipment. Eventually most ghosts had left other than two, Dani and another ghost who had not introduced himself to Bruce and Dick. The pair of ghosts stared at Danny wordlessly.
“I don’t believe I got your name.” Dick started.
“That is because I had not given it to you Richard.” The ghost responds moving just ever so slightly in front of Danny at Dick’s approach.
“Neither me nor my son mean Danny any harm.”
“I know.” a pause as if they were thinking over their next words, “I also know that going with you would be the best course of action for young Daniel.”
“But..?”
“I can’t help but feel I should have done more for him.” After that sentence the world around Dick Bruce greyed out all but the motionless Danny. The pair felt Medallions weighed heavy around their necks. “Batman, Nightwing” he addressed.
