“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!” None of us want to think that we are wretched. When we compare ourselves with others we think we are somewhat better or okay, we don't realise how wretched and pitiful we are. When Isaiah saw the LORD Almighty in all His glory, he said, "Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts." When he saw the holiness of God, he recognised his own sinfulness. We can never go to God in this sinful state. Today, we have a Saviour, Jesus Christ, who died for us. He will save us by His grace and make us righteous, all we have to do is place our faith and trust in Him. Would you ask Him to be your Saviour and Lord?

Suffering
We do not like to suffer. That’s obvious.
You can tell by how easily we ignore people who are suffering. And even when we don’t ignore them, we struggle to comfort someone who is suffering.
We do not like to suffer.
You can tell by how bad we are at suffering. How hard we work to avoid suffering. How we don’t like to think about suffering.
Because if we’re not around it, if we don’t think about it, then maybe, just maybe, we won’t have to deal with it.
Maybe we’ve never really put those thoughts together. But from the way we live our lives, that’s what we look like.
Which – if you think about it – is a stupid way to live. Kind of like not putting a roof on your house, even though you live in a place where it rains. A lot.
Because one thing is certain about life in our fallen world – no matter how good or bad we are, we will suffer. There’s no escaping it.
But we do have a choice. You and I get to choose who we suffer with.
We can suffer alone. And we all know how well that works.
Or we can suffer with God. We can invite God into our suffering. We can ask God to be with us, right in the heart of it.
It’s only when we refuse to suffer alone – when we ask God to be with us in our suffering, to see us through our suffering – not waiting for some perfect moment, after we’re cured, after the relationship has been healed, after we’re in recovery, after we’ve got a job, after the storm has passed – but right now, right in the middle of it.
It’s only when we invite God into our suffering that we will experience God’s grace right in the middle of the storm.
When we invite God into our suffering, as St. Rose of Lima (today’s saint) puts it, then “with suffering comes the gift of grace.”
Not because we want to suffer. But because we know we can’t avoid it. And because we’re too smart to do it alone.
When we do it with God – not just day by day, but hour by hour and even minute by minute – that’s where the grace comes in.
Not just the grace to endure. But the grace to live in God’s peace, even in the middle of the storm.

"In her obedience to God she shows us that perfect freedom and attaining our 'full potential' is found in submitting our fallen and corrupted will to the all-good Father, thus molding our will into His will and therefore being able to (eventually) not only 'know the good,' but will it and do it.
By keeping our souls and bodies pure, by not even accepting corrupted thoughts, we maintain the ability to hear and communicate with God, and thus know how to live in conformity with His will.
And so, no matter how ill we are, no matter our upbringing, no matter the genetic weaknesses we have inherited (of body and soul), no matter the state of the world around us, we have the opportunity by God’s grace, through the prayers of the Theotokos, to become healthy, to become holy. We too can, in our own dormition, pass from life to life through a mere 'falling asleep,' if only we would imitate her virtue."

I don't know what the future holds but I know God holds the future.
I've got enough history with God to know that;
God will never let me down and he is able to do exceedingly and abundantly what he said he was gonna do in my life.

God is at peace with us...
Hey Friends, I hope this message finds you well.
Today, I want to write about the security of salvation because if there’s one thing I’ve always been kind of insecure about in my christian life, it was my salvation.
It is only recently that I began to feel secure and at peace with the certainty of it. Why? Because for some reason I couldn’t reconcile the idea of me being saved with the fact that I’m still a sinner stuck in an habitual sin.
If you are in that situation, then you probably understand me and this post is for you. If not, I’m happy for you that you never felt doubt about your salvation.
The truth is, I forgot about God’s grace. I forgot that my salvation doesn’t depend on me, but on Him only. I forgot that my salvation is a unilateral action of God and that I take no part in it. Even the fact that I believe in His one and only son Jesus Christ, is a gift from Him because of His grace for me.
We know that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ : we are reconciled with God through Faith in Jesus. Our Faith in Jesus makes us redeemed children of God, and not His enemies anymore. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is perfect and has the power to free us from any and every sin.
Also, Jesus’ ministry didn’t stop after His resurrection : he sits at the right hand of God, and intercedes for us ⇒ He is the Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
Finally let’s not forget the work of the Holy Spirit who convicts and encourages us to walk in obedience to God. He is our guide in our journey through sanctification.
Knowing all of that and still doubting our salvation, is doubting the Power of the cross. It is a sin.
Yes, we are not perfect, and we’ll never be perfect; I would say we are God’s work in progress. Stand firm in faith for the Lord is working on you and me for the glory of His kingdom.
God Bless you and have a great day.

It is when we stumble or fail, that we value and appreciate the grace of God. We fall face down and confess our sins and receive His grace with a grateful heart. But as time passes and we have been walking faithfully in the path of righteousness for some time, it is then we get familiar with grace. We take our success for granted often forgetting where we started. We become judgmental and look upon others with contempt. In 1 Corinthians 15:10, Paul said, “I am what I am by the grace of God” attributing his success to the grace of God. He is careful to mention that he was the worst of sinners- a persecutor of the church. Let us never in the best of days forget the grace of God as we did in our worst.

Jesus Christ, Our Great High Priest, Redeemer, Savior and Lord
Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest, has atoned for our sins, once for all, and has reconciled us to God our Maker.
God's perfect sacrificial Lamb without blemish, offered Himself for our redemption, and is the only Mediator between God and men.
Tumblr media
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Hebrews 10:1-7 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, 'Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.' "
Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (See also Hebrews Chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in its entirety.)
Matthew 27:50-53 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. Ephesians 2:13-18 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
(See Ephesians Chapter 2 in its entirety.) The good news of God's salvation is to be proclaimed in all the earth. Whosoever will may come, both Jew and Gentile; receive God's pardon and walk in newness of life. - A Walk In The Garden Devotions

To all the self hating Christians out there with self destructive habits and addictions... like me... I have a proposal.
When you make a mistake. Or remember a past mistake. Or discover you've been making continual mistakes without realizing. Or get stuck in a terrible memory. Or the mirror mocks and distorts you. Or you suddenly feel an overall wave of disgust towards yourself, for whatever reason that may be... instead of not eating or cutting or slamming your head into a wall or otherwise punishing yourself...
Pray. Take a moment to breathe and pray.
I want you to pray for grace.
Because our God's grace is sufficient. His blood was spilled for your imperfections thousands of years ago in anticipation for this very moment of human inadequacy and every other that is sure to come in your lifetime. There is no need to spill your own.
Honor His sacrifice. Thank God for His grace.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭42:5-‬11‬ ‭(NLT‬‬). “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you— even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar. I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. “O God my rock,” I cry, “why have you forgotten me? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies?” Their taunts break my bones. They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”.Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!”
“Find Help in God’s Presence” By In Touch Ministries:
“Take your pain to the Lord—you can rely on Him.”
“Whenever you’re feeling down, the Psalms are an excellent source of comfort and encouragement. In today’s passage, the psalmist shares how God offers comfort to you, His child, in hard times. To receive it, you should …
Look within. Before you can deal with despair, you need to know what is causing it. If you’re not sure, ask the Lord to help you figure out what’s going on.
Look up. The next step is to lift your eyes to the Lord and place your hope in Him. Remember, discouragement comes to everybody at one time or another, but it should not be permanent.
Look back. Despair has a way of making you forget all the good things God has done over the years. Recalling His past care and provision helps to overpower discouragement.
Look ahead. Knowing that the Lord’s plans are good, you can look forward to what He is going to do in the future. His lovingkindness will support you by day and bring comfort by night.
To overcome discouragement, fixing your focus on the Lord is key. His Word promises that He walks with you through the valley. Remember, even if you feel disheartened, you are never alone.”

Not what I was expecting
Tumblr media
My old house still has its original cast iron radiators. Which are wonderfully efficient when it comes to heating the house – when you take care of them.
Last September, I was getting the radiators ready for winter. It’s a once-a-year job that takes less than a minute. But it requires a special tool, called a radiator key. And I couldn’t find mine anywhere.
After a few days of fruitless looking, I gave up, went online, and bought one. Only it was backordered. They said it wouldn’t be available until sometime in late October.
So, I was really surprised when it was delivered 3 days later.
That didn’t match up with what I was expecting. But it was exactly what I needed. And I was happy to have it.
Today’s Gospel is all about expectations. And how easy it is for you and me to become lost in our expectations. To become fixed in our expectations.
This is what Jesus is hearing from his critics. They have become set in their preconceived notions about how things have to work. They know how it has to happen. That’s the only way that it can happen. End of discussion.
And doing that is having the same effect on them that it has on you and me 2,000 years later when we do it.
When you and I become fixed in our expectations, we close ourselves off to other possibilities. Making us miss what God is doing in our lives.
Keeping us from the joy that comes from receiving God’s grace.
Because it doesn’t match up to what we were expecting.
Even though it’s exactly what we need.
