Male Yuu! Reader (Platonic Yandere) Part 1
@asillylitteseabunnyay More ideas! Warning: Really OOC characters (Even for yandere standards. This is a major reason as to why I write headcanons before writing a separate piece for them), I really did try to make this into one post but I really wanted to post something. Sorry for taking so long to post something.
For those who want a word count: 14,203 words. Once again, sorry for being really slow.
"(Y/N)! Wait up!"
I turned around to see Ace running up to me with Deuce trailing after him. A grin broke on my face at the sight of them. Those two always bring trouble with them and while it can be tiring, I could never imagine a different life that I could lead. Or at least, my life in Twisted Wonderland.
"Heya, guys! What's going on? Riddle chasing after you for breaking another rule or Azul wanting to capture you in a contract again?"
"Do you really think that whenever we want to see you we're in trouble? I'm kind of wounded."
Ace put on a fake pout before pulling a mock hurt pose.
"Because whenever you ARE in trouble, you come find me to get you out of it."
"Fair."
Deuce walked around Ace before greeting me.
"Good morning, (Y/N)!"
"Good morning, Deucey! How's your morning been so far?"
"It was quite uneventful which is a nice change of pace from how mornings normally are for us."
Deuce was pushed by Ace, who started laughing at Deuce who lost his footing.
Ace and Deuce started a stare off before I just lightly tapped both of their foreheads to snap them out of it.
"Yo, troublemakers! If you keep fighting like this, we're gonna have trouble coming our way. Let's move!"
Ace and Deuce nodded at me before we all started to sprint to get to P.E. Vargas was no joke when it came to being late. I would prefer not having to do twenty extra laps around the field, thank you very much.
Thankfully, we made it with only a minute left to spare. Jack and Epel were there ahead of us and claimed brooms for Ace and Deuce.
"If you three keep sleeping in, you're going to end up missing class."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's get this class done and over with."
Jack tossed the brooms to Ace and Deuce who caught them before turning towards me.
"(Y/N), do you want to ride with me on my broom today?"
I thought about the offer before another student butted into the conversation.
"I already offered the Human a ride on my broom last class!"
Sebek appeared out of nowhere, being loud like always. Although his words did remind me of yesterday. I was riding on Floyd's broom for class (Mainly because he wouldn't let me ride on anyone else's broom) and I nearly fell off many times. Sebek came to me after class and offered his broom instead. This did surprise me considering that Sebek has been a recent friend that I've made but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Anything to not ride with Floyd again.
"Yep, he's right, Jack. I promised Sebek that I would join him for this flight class. Although if you're offering for tomorrow, I wouldn't be opposed to that."
Jack gave me a nod before getting himself ready for flight. Looks like I have my flight partner for tomorrow! I walked with Sebek to the spot that he picked which was quite a bit away from the other first years but I didn't care that much about it. This class is a mix between all of the years so I wouldn't be surprised if Lilia or Silver was in this class as well.
"Child of Man."
Or I should have guessed that Malleus would be in this class.
"Hello, Hornton. I hope that this morning is treating you nicely."
I still can't really wrap my head around the fact that my night friend is really the Malleus Draconia. It's still something that I must get used to.
"Young Master!"
Sebek's face lit up with the biggest smile that I think I've ever seen which made a smile appear on my face. Even thought the half fae carries a huge amount of aggression towards humans, whenever he's happy, it's near impossible to not be happy along with him.
"ALRIGHT! Let's start working out those muscles!"
Coach Vargas appeared out of nowhere like he normally does and got everybody into line. Sebek positioned his broom safely between his legs while I tried to position myself carefully as well. The take off is always the hardest for whoever I'm flying with considering that we have to time the launch perfectly with each other.
Sebek was staring at me to make sure that I was ready and I gave him a quick nod to signal that I was ready for take off. We did a short run before jumping and taking off. I held onto Sebek for dear life when we started to get some serious altitude. I've learned that if I grab the broom while in flight, that I accidently cause some mild steering interference.
"Khee hee hee. Careful, (Y/N). You might end up causing a tear into Sebek's uniform."
I turned my head to my right to see Lilia flying there. Him being there made me recount all of the people in this class. Everyone was in this class today! I'm particularly amazed that Azul was able to get his broom up this high and the fact that Idia was riding the broom correctly. That might be because we're actually going for a flight around the island for class today.
"I'll loosen my grip in a bit. I'm still not a big fan of heights."
A shudder went up my spine when I looked down. I don't understand how people are able to fly this high up without being terrified.
"WOOOOO!"
I tilted my head up to see Cater riding his broom like a skateboard and doing tricks on it. I wish that I had a fraction of his courage to do something like that.
"Don't worry, Human! I will not be doing ridiculous stunts like that with you on the broom with me."
"Thanks, Sebek. I greatly appreciate it."
The class continued like normal. Many people were flying by Sebek and I to have a pleasant conversation. Riddle and the rest of Heartslabyul were checking in with me to make sure I didn't need a quick emergency landing. Sebek took mild offense to that saying 'If the Human needed to go down, I would be more than capable to take him down myself!'
"Are you sure that you would be taking the utmost of care that he is protected when flying down?"
"Of course, I would!"
"I don't know, Sebek. You don't always seem to be the perfect fit for protecting (Y/N)."
"Why you-!"
Ace and Sebek started a screaming match mid air, making me roll my eyes. Those two are like oil and water. Never to be mixed.
"Good morning, Prefect."
"Good morning, Dorm Leader Rosehearts!"
"(Y/N)..."
I let out a laugh at Riddle's warning tone. I love to tease him about his proper title.
"Sorry, sorry. Has your morning been calm?"
"Not in the slightest! There were nearly five rule breakers this morning! I don't know what they were thinking about having strawberry tea on a Thursday!"
"The lunacy!"
"I know!"
"Hehe, it did make for a magicamable morning though!"
Cater flew next to us, still in skateboard position.
"I bet it did!"
"I'll send you all of the pics after class! Kay-kay?"
"Kay-Kay!"
I like indulging in his vocabulary from time to time. It's interesting and different from my own!
"Ace. Stop fighting with Sebek before Riddle decides that it's off with your head."
Trey was ahead of all of us, flying backwards which was pretty impressive, mediating the fight between Sebek and Ace.
"But-!"
"YOU HEARD THE OTHER HUMAN, ACE! ADMIT YOUR DEFEAT!"
Don't fight Sebek, it isn't pretty.
Ace let out a scoff before flying towards Deuce. Riddle and Trey followed quickly after them to make sure that those two would stay out of trouble for the morning while Cater saw Idia and wanted a picture of him before he hid away for the rest of the day.
"*Yawn* Doesn't it get exhausting with all of those other noisy herbivores chatting your ear off?"
Leona and Ruggie came on the left and the right of us.
"I don't see it as tiring. In fact, it's actually quite fun to talk with your friends in the morning!"
Leona gave a smirk at me with a glint in his eyes. Oh no.
"That's just like you, Herbivore. Taking pity on other herbivores, especially those who follow that Lizard."
I felt Sebek tense at Leona's words. He turned his head to glare at Leona.
"How dare you insult the YOUNG MASTER?! YOU LAZY LION!"
Leona and Sebek started to have a shouting match over my head. Why does Sebek feel the need to fight with so many people this morning? Where does this energy come from?
"Psst, (Y/N)!"
I turned my head to see Ruggie. He gave me a slight wave before holding out an apple for me.
"Here! I decided to be kind today and got you an apple!"
"Thank you, Ruggie! Now. What do you want?"
Ruggie's kind smile turned into a slight smirk.
"Glad you asked! I have to do laundry later today and considering I did something nice for you, you could do something nice for me?"
"Sure, I'll come by noon to help you out."
"Thank you, (Y/N)! Shye hee hee!"
"Alright, leave (Y/N) and Sebek alone you guys."
Jack and Epel came out of nowhere and separated Leona and Ruggie from our broom.
"Hmph, self righteous fresh babies."
Leona flew off and motioned for Ruggie to follow him. Ruggie gave me a nod before flying after Leona. Sebek looked at Jack with anger.
"HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT US, JACK!"
"Your yelling was giving (Y/N) a headache. Besides, you should be paying attention to flying and not crashing."
Epel then flew closer to me and took the apple from me.
"Hey!"
"Ya don't wanna ta eat this one. There's mealworms in it. Make yer stomach upset."
I looked at the apple with disgust. I can't believe that Ruggie would try to feed me something that like.
"Thanks, Epel. It looked like such a good apple too."
"It takes a trained eye ta tell. Seems like Ruggie needs a better eye."
Jack and Epel flew away after making sure that Sebek and I would be safe with flying.
"These useless creatures. Thinking that I'm incapable of taking care of a singular magicless human."
"Calm down, Sebek. I'm certain that they are just worried about me being up this high. It's not everyday that a magicless human goes off the ground. If it makes you feel better, I feel completely safe with you flying the broom."
Sebek gave a proud smirk before straightening his back and picking up the pace to continue flying with the group. I started to scan the sky for other people that I knew.
Azul didn't really come near us or anybody for that matter. I think that he was a tad scared of accidentally crashing into anybody which I think is a valid fear. I quickly shouted some encouragement to him. Jade and Floyd on the other hand had no problem with coming up to us. Jade mostly left us alone, saying that he was there to keep an eye on his brother. Floyd though...
"Awwww, Shrimpyyyy. Why are you flying with Crocodile instead of me todayyyy? Are you trying to get squeeeezed?"
"No Floyd. I'm riding Sebek because he offered."
"Hmph. That's no fun. Come here on my broom."
Floyd grabbed my arm and started trying to pull me onto his broom. Because of my near death grip on Sebek, it started to also mess with Sebek's flying as well.
"ARGH! STOP THIS INSTANT, YOU INSOLENT CREATURE!"
"Floyd! Stop that! This isn't funny!"
"Hehehehe~ I think that it's pretty funny. Come on, Shrimpy. It'll be safe."
"FLOYD!"
"Floyd. That's enough. You're causing (Y/N) to be uncomfortable."
Jade intervened by prying Floyd's hand off of my arm. Sebek was able to stabilize the broom and we were flying smoothly again.
"Booooo, you're no fun, Jade."
Jade let out a chuckle.
"Sorry, Floyd. Normally, I'd let you have your fun but there is a tad too much risk here."
My breathing normalized just in time for Kalim and Jamil to visit us on the left side.
"Hiya, (Y/N)! Good morning, Sebek!"
"Morning, Kalim! How's today treating you so far?"
"Today has been the best so far! Jamil made a delicious breakfast for the whole dorm! We also discussed planning a party for later this evening! Would you two like to join us?"
I noticed Jamil tense a bit at the mention of more people coming to the party. That man was under so much pressure that it's not even funny.
"Sorry! But I must keep watch over the Young Master at all times! I don't have time to partake in silly human activities!"
"Yeah, I have to decline as well, Kalim. Ramshackle has been in need of a clean up and I'll most likely have a bunch of homework to do tonight anyway. I hope that you have a pleasant party though!"
Kalim had a slight pout on his face before his normal smile reappeared.
"That's quite fine! Although the party won't be the same without you, (Y/N)!"
Kalim then flew ahead of us. Jamil looked at me and I gave him a wink and a smile. I wasn't really too busy tonight but I decided to do him a solid. Jamil gave a small quirk of his lips before flying after Kalim.
"First Potato."
I turned my head to the right to stare at Vil. Boy, was he as intimidating as ever?
"Sit up straight. If you keep curling into Cucumber here, your posture will be horrendous."
I nodded at Vil before trying to sit up straight. The wind decided to pick up then and there, wobbling the broom. I immediately curled back into Sebek.
"Thanks for the advice Vil but I think that I'm going to stay curled until the end of the flight."
Vil narrowed his eyes slightly before directing his attention to the front.
"Oh, le pauvre escroc! Although, I must admit that the sight of your fear brings out a completely new side of your beauty to light!"
I saw Rook upside down which made me jolt a bit. Sebek let out a grunt.
"Human! Be careful!"
"Sorry, Sebek!"
Rook only let out a laugh before going to Vil to fawn over him. The duo flew off which made me let out a sigh of relief. I'm glad that I was able to befriend those two at VDC but I won't lie that I'm terrified of what those two can do together.
"(Y/N)-San!"
Ortho's voice traveled into my ears which made me look behind myself to see him there.
"Ortho! It's nice to see you and your brother this morning!"
"Yes! Niisan prefers to skip this class but he was more than willing to go when he heard about it being a mixed class. I'm still not too certain as to why though."
"Maybe he misheard. I have no idea either though."
"Oh yeah! Niisan wanted me to ask you if you were down for playing with him tonight over voice chat! He has recently been really involved with a new MMORPG that he wants to play with you."
I thought about it before realizing that Kalim was still nearby. I couldn't just brush off one friend and not the other. Sorry, Idia.
"Sorry, Ortho but I have to clean up Ramshackle tonight. With Grim being trapped inside all day, he's sure to make a mess. Or more of a mess."
I wasn't lying about Grim being stuck inside all day. Two days ago, a freak accident happened in the cafeteria which ended up with Grim's tail being broken. I prescribed him bed rest and plenty of bandages for healing. He made a mild fit about it before realizing that I wasn't about to forfeit my ground.
"Oh."
Ortho looked a bit disheartened but I had to stay strong. It doesn't help that I see Ortho as a brother. I want the robo kid happy!
"Yeah, really sorry, Ortho. Maybe tomorrow, I can play games with Idia."
Ortho seemed to perk up at that before zooming past us to talk with Idia. Sebek was quick to fix his course with the new air ripples.
"CAREFUL OF WHERE YOU'RE FLYING!!"
"Calm down, Sebek, he's just a kid."
"Ah, youth. I hope that you young ones won't mind me joining your flight?"
Lilia made his reappearance and started to fly with us.
"Master Lilia!"
"Welcome back, Lilia! Where did you come from?"
"Khee hee hee. I was just trying to arrange something. Don't worry too much about it."
Two more people came up to fly next to us. It was Malleus and Silver! I gave both of them a wave which they returned.
"See! I thought that it would be nice for our dorm to fly together! Even if you're not part of our dorm, you're still quite a treasured friend to us all!"
"I'm honored that you won't kick me out of your dorm flying session."
We all just flew in peace for a bit but that peace didn't last for long.
"Freak wind!"
A huge gust of wind came out of nowhere causing me to lose my grip on Sebek and fall off the broom.
"(Y/N)!"
Sebek tried to grab me but sadly, he was much too slow. I kept falling before I finally hit the ground. It was so painful. A huge pain seared through my leg, back, head and arm. Oh, the times when you wish that you had magic to make all of your problems go away. Sadly, my wishes won't be answered anytime soon.
I heard a bunch of calls of my name. I tried to keep my eyes open but the pain in my head was making it insanely hard.
"(Y/N)! I found him!"
Deuce came into my line of sight and I tried to give him a smile but the look on his face made me think that my smile wasn't exactly a smile.
"Don't worry, (Y/N). You'll be fine. I know that you'll be fine. You have to be fine!"
I tried to get some words of comfort out for Deuce but the pain got too much for my brain to handle. I let out a groan and passed out. My dreams were really weird. There were a bunch of different clouds who were talking over each other. It was near impossible to make out what they were trying to say. It started to hurt my head mildly.
I was thankful when I started to wake from the dream. The voices of the clouds went quiet, giving my head the needed break from noise that it wanted. I started to open my eyes but they were really sensitive to light and there was plenty of it in the room.
"Urrrr, that's really bright."
"He's up!"
"Now that was loud."
My eyes adjusted to the light and I saw Sebek kneeling next to me. I started to look around the room more and everybody was there watching me, concern and relief were reflective in their eyes.
"Ugh, what's going on, guys?"
I tried to sit up from my lying down position but I let out a scream. It was much too painful to even sit up. Next thing that I knew everybody was surrounding me and trying to make sure that I was okay.
"(Y/N)!"
"Don't strain yourself."
"Stay down, Shrimpy!"
Everyone's face held such amounts of concern. Even Leona! I didn't even really think that he even tolerated me in the slightest! The more that the situation processed in my brain, the more funny that I found it. I even started laughing which shocked everyone around me.
"This is no laughing matter, (Y/N)! You were severely injured!"
"Sorry, Riddle, but you must admit the way that you all are acting is quite bizarre!"
Everyone looked at each other confused before returning their gazes back to me as if they wanted a further explanation.
"I mean, c'mon guys! You're treating me as if I'm a fragile glass doll that will break if someone so much as breathed on me! You've seen me fight at least five different overblots! I think that I'm strong enough to handle a bad crash."
Everyone stayed silent at what I said. Apparently, they have forgotten how much that I've been through ever since I arrived at Twisted Wonderland.
My stomach interrupted the silence with a warning that I was hungry. Leona was actually the first to react.
"Ruggie, take this and go get (Y/N) something good to eat. Don't skimp out."
"You got it."
Ruggie rushed out of the room, most likely going to the cafeteria. He really doesn't have to get me food, more importantly expensive food. I would just be happy with a bag of chips and a bottle of water to tide me over for now.
"You really didn't have to send Ruggie out to do that. I think that I could have just gotten a ghost from Ramshackle to get me the leftovers from last night."
Vil snapped his head towards me when I mentioned leftovers.
"Do you mean those unhealthy, instant foods that I've heard from Epel that you order from Sam so much?"
A mild blush appeared on my face. It's true that I haven't really gotten the chance to really have a decent meal in a few months but hey! Life on a budget was never easy!
"Yes, those foods. I didn't finish the oven pizza that I got yesterday. There should be more than enough food unless Grim ate most of it today."
Vil then turned his head to Leona.
"Tell Ruggie to order two of whatever he is getting for the prefect. He obviously needs better food choices than what he is supplying himself with."
Leona only nodded his head before pulling out his phone to text Ruggie his new order.
"At least, I'm keeping Sam in business."
Crowley then entered the nurse's office, making me slightly jump and hurt myself more.
"GOODNESS GRACIOUS! Broken bones are no joke!"
"(Y/N)! I've heard about your condition!"
Crowley also looked around at all of the students who were already there.
"Appears that the rest of our student body has enough concern for our dear magicless student."
Crowley then made his way to the bedside and looked down at me.
"Now then, we must figure out a way to make sure that you can heal quickly and safely! I am not able to handle all of your needs everyday.
Hmmmm, I'm wondering if you would be fine if a ghost just brought you meals and Grim could give you your homework that you've missed."
"Grim is out of school on injury as well, Headmage."
"Hmmm, maybe your professors would be kind enough to bring your homework to you."
"Headmage."
Crowley and I turned our heads to look at Riddle. He had a straight face but I could tell that he had a plan.
"We Heartslabyul students will be more than willing to take care of (Y/N). He has helped us out more than times than we can count, either with overblots or if someone was going to break one of our rules."
"Yeah! Besides, (Y/N) and I are like, best friends! I'd be more than happy to try and teach him the lessons that he missed! Also I'd be cursed if I didn't help him out when he really needs it."
"Since I'm also one of (Y/N)'s close friends, I can help keep him company between classes! So that he isn't too lonely during the day!"
"I can help him during meal times and create a small dessert for him everyday. It wouldn't be too much a hassle."
"And I can keep him updated on current events! #KeepingThePrefectInTheLoop!"
Ace, Deuce, Trey and Cater all seemed super excited to help me with my recovery. Although a scoff from Leona and Vil resounded in the room.
Riddle was immediately on the defense and sent one of his strongest glares their way.
"Do you two have a problem with our plan?"
Leona gave an eye roll before saying his part.
"You're really going to entrust that idiotic herbivore to catch the prefect up on the lessons that he missed? Even if you taught that herbivore by himself, I'm still certain that he still would fail his classes."
Ace got visibly angry at Leona words but was held back by Deuce. Probably because the Headmage was still in the room.
Vil put in his thoughts next.
"None of you will actually take care of the prefect in the way that he deserves. I doubt anybody would be willing to make sure the prefect stays presentable even in casts."
Trey and Cater looked between themselves before returning Vil's glare. But soon enough, something else caused an uproar amongst the group.
"But I want to help (Y/N) to get better as well!"
Kalim looked very determined to be useful to me before looking over to Jamil with pleading eyes.
"Right, Jamil? We want to make sure that (Y/N) gets the utmost of care!"
"Kalim's right. I doubt that any of you had to take care of someone who was sick. I've been in the caretaker role so I think that we are most likely the best to assure (Y/N)'s quick recovery. Kalim has also had experience with taking care of his younger siblings as well."
A loud thud was heard from behind Jamil which got everyone's attention drawn to Sebek.
"NONE OF YOU SHALL HELP THE HUMAN! IT WAS MY OWN SHORTCOMINGS THAT CAUSED THE HUMAN TO BE INJURED IN THE FIRST PLACE! THUS I SHALL TAKE UP EACH AND EVERY DUTY MYSELF!"
Soon enough, there was a whole yelling match between all of the dorms on who would be able to take care of me. Soon enough, Crowley had enough of the fighting and silenced them all.
"ALRIGHT!
While I'm moved to tears by seeing all of my students work together for a common goal, we still must come up with a schedule to make sure that Mr. (Y/N) gets the care that he needs.
Thankfully, my quick thinking has come up with the perfect solution!
Mr. (Y/N) will stay here in the nurse's office and each day a different dorm will take care of him. Heartslabyul on Monday, Savanaclaw on Tuesday, etc, etc."
Everyone reluctantly nodded to the plan. It sounded like a good plan considering that everybody would get what they want in the end. There was some mild awkward silence before Ruggie kicked open the doors with his hands full of food.
"Okay, so I bought twenty meals because that was all that I could have afforded with Leona's money plus haggling."
Leona facepalmed before letting out a groan.
"You useless hyena, I wanted you to get at least fifty meals with that money."
Thus started the crazy recovery scheme between all of the dorms.
Heartslabyul's day was probably one of the most relaxing days that a person like me could have. At the start of every day, Trey would come in and bring me a homemade breakfast. It always was some sort of pastry like pancakes, waffles or croissants. For the first two weeks, mainly because of the pain that I would acquire if I moved too much, Trey spoon fed me my breakfasts. I promised him that I would pay him back for meals but he always told me that it wouldn't be necessary.
"There's no reason to repay me, (Y/N). I'm used to taking care of my younger siblings."
Then throughout the day, Cater and Deuce would visit at random times. I'm ninety percent certain that Cater skipped a good portion of his classes and clubs to hang out with me. He would stay late into the night as well, taking pictures or showing me random memes that he found funny. Though per my demand, he would put his phone away and ignore it while we played a board game that he 'borrowed' from the board game club.
"Time for a new pic for the cam! I'm going to title this one 'Brothers Night In!'"
Deuce would come during the breaks between our classes to either lightly talk about what happened during class or tell me how much that he missed me during classes.
"I've never truly realized how boring classes are without you there."
Lunch is always spent with Riddle. He brings personally brewed tea for both of us to enjoy! He also makes sure that I'm properly taken care of and that none of his dorm members were slacking on their jobs.
"You're happy with how my dorm members are doing? Good. I'm glad that they are upholding your expectations. If they ever let you down, let me know. I'll make sure that they know better than to disappoint my family."
Finally, Ace is probably the person that I see the least of but considering what I know about him, it's quite believable that he wouldn't be there as often as the others. He does get me my homework and brings me dinner though.
"Yo, little bro! Sorry for being late with your stuff today! Basketball club started straight after school today. Let's eat before we start getting work done!"
Savanaclaw is next. To be honest, with only three of them throughout the day, it is quite hectic. Especially with Leona as one of the caretakers. Since Leona normally skips classes, he now sleeps in the nurse's office with me all day. Sometimes, if he doesn't fall asleep, we end up having a pleasant talk. He also makes sure that I'm comfortable with extra blankets if I'm cold or more pillows if the bed isn't soft enough. He does get mad if I try to situate the blankets myself.
"Stop squirming. Let your pride watch over you for a while."
Ruggie was the most hardworking out of the three. He had to get meals for me and Leona. Not to mention that a good majority of time he was trying to convince Leona to go at least to one of his classes on Tuesday. I told him that if he was too busy with Leona, he doesn't have to take care of me.
"Don't worry about me, (Y/N)! I always take care of the younger ones at home, you're no different!"
Jack was quite useful with teaching me all that I missed. He takes everything slowly which I appreciate! Alchemy has been really hard for me ever since I've arrived in Twisted Wonderland. It's like chemistry and I nearly failed when I took that.
"Did you understand that? Good. The last time that I had to teach like this was with my younger siblings when they wanted to learn how to snowboard."
Wednesday is one of those days that I can't wait for it to end. Floyd doesn't care what hurts me exactly. He sometimes just picks me up from my bed and carries me around campus.
"Why are you crying, Shrimpy? Elvers like you need all of the fresh air that they can get~!"
Normally after many tears and a majority of my day, Jade arrives and relieves Floyd of his job. Floyd always puts up a fight telling Jade that he isn't done playing with me but Jade reminds him of whatever Azul needed him to do now. Floyd becomes quiet before trudging off, a scowl on his face. Jade then normally takes me back to the nurse's office with an apology.
"I must apologize for my brother. He doesn't understand that you need your rest, (Y/N). He called you an 'elver'? Well, I won't disagree with him but don't worry. It's not an insult."
All of the meals on Wednesday are supplied by the Mostro Lounge per demand of Azul. Floyd packed breakfast and lunch for us to prevent me having to be stuck in the office all day. Dinner is the only meal that I can enjoy in a comfortable position. Azul personally delivers it to me and provides a small bit of entertainment for me.
"I do hope that the food is to your liking! I would hate for a fry to go hungry during the time that they need to heal!"
When it comes to Scarabia's turn, it's probably the most organized day. That might be because Jamil is in charge of most of the things when it comes to taking care of me. He always comes with handmade meals, extra pillows in case the ones that I've been laying on have lost their fluff, etc, etc. He always seems to know what I want.
"Here you go. A light novel for you to read to make sure that you aren't bored in bed all day. How did I know that you wanted something to read? Call it 'Caretaker's intuition'."
Kalim didn't really have anything to help me get better but his charismatic personality always made my day! After school, we would just talk about the most random things to pass the time. Kalim's most favorite subject to talk about though is his home. He talks as if I've been there before though.
"And then we all went swimming! Where did we go swimming? (Y/N)! You know that we have a pool back at home!"
Pomefiore's day is quite restless for me. Before the sun is even up, Vil is there, doing a two hour long skincare routine for me. There have been times where I've almost fallen back asleep while he was taking care of my skin. Normally, if that does happen, he flicks my forehead which wakes me up immediately.
"The others may have let you become lazy but I won't let that continue on any longer. I'll make sure that you're properly taken care of. I refuse to let my junior deteriorate anymore."
Rook likes to randomly surprise me during the day and give me plenty of compliments about my strength. His weirdness was fully on display but to be honest, I always loved when Rook was true to himself. It was also fun to look at his Neige scrapbook!
"Magnifique! I'm so overjoyed that my Jeune Chercheur de Beauté is being inspired by my collection! Don't worry mon protégé, Je ferai un album à votre beauté bien assez tôt!"
Epel comes to visit to give me my homework before setting up his own work to do with me. Surprisingly, we don't talk that much during the time that we do hang out, preferring to enjoy each other's presence in silence. When we do decide to talk, it's always short but I enjoy having them.
"Rook and Vil did what? Ah can never understand those two. But I'm glad ya can put up with them."
Saturday is when the Shroud brothers come to visit, it's the only time that Idia will actually leave his room to visit me or maybe another reason gets him out and about. I'm not too certain anymore mainly because I don't know how Idia functions half the time.
"u-u-um! hiya, (Y/N)-San! ugh, this is so embarrassing. i-i-i-i brought my portable gaming set up so that we can beat all of the other normies online! if there were people in classes today, i would totally have dreaded this more."
To balance Idia's nerves, Ortho was nearly sparking with excitement! He was in his alchemy outfit and running constant tests on me. Although he would make sure to cheer Idia and I on whenever we were either having a hard time or won a hard match!
"Niisan and Ani are so awesome! Everyone else will see how cool the two of you are together!"
Then comes Sunday. The second most hectic day of any week. I at least don't get hurt. All that I get is mild deafness in one of my ears. Sebek doesn't leave my side while begging for my forgiveness for letting this happen.
"PLEASE FORGIVE ME, (Y/N)! I'M SORRY THAT I FAILED YOU AS YOUR OLDER! I WILL NEVER LET SOMETHING HAPPEN LIKE THIS AGAIN TO YOU! I PROMISE THAT I WILL PROTECT YOU WITH EVERYTHING THAT I CAN!"
Silver was thankfully calmer than most of the others. Although he did have his own overprotective tendencies but was amazingly more organized than anybody else's! Especially for a sleepy guy.
"Sebek, you should think about getting (Y/N) some food if you want him to forgive you."
Lilia would actually prevent Silver's plan from working by bringing in his own food for me to eat. Fun fact: I can amazingly stomach his food. Considering that I'm ninety five percent certain that I should have food poisoning, his food doesn't even taste all that bad.
"Here you go, my little bat! A nice, warm meal that will fill you up! Don't be shy about engorging yourself! There's more than enough."
Malleus is probably the person who was the most affected by my injuries. He wouldn't really talk with me but just look over my casts with what could best be described as melancholy.
"I'm so sorry, my dear Child of Man. I should have never let this happen to you in the first place. I've failed you as a friend. Trust me, I promise you this as the Prince of Briar Valley, I will never let anything hurt you again."
This cycle continued on for a little over ten weeks. What was supposed to be a seven week recovery was heavily deterred by a reckless Floyd Leech. But I was so excited to be able to move on my own for the first time in a little over two months! When the nurse gave me the okay to move, I tried to stand on my feet right away. I didn't even wait for anybody to appear. I am so relieved that I can take care of myself again and no longer be a burden to everybody.
"Okay, I've got this! One, two, and up we go!"
I got up onto my feet and while I did wobble for a bit, I was pretty sturdy for someone who hasn't used their legs in a while. I didn't try anything risky like jumping or running but I was walking little laps around the nurse's office. The nurse gave me plenty of encouragement to try bigger strides or other things to improve my movement.
It was all fun and games until it was time for my guests to come in. Since it was a Wednesday, Floyd was the person who came in first to see me walking around on my feet.
"SHRIMPY! You're supposed to stay in bed!"
"I don't have to stay in bed anymore, Floyd! The nurse gave me the okay this morning! Besides, even if I was in bed, you would have just picked me up and carried me halfway across campus."
"That's not the point, Shrimpy! Elvers can't really take care of themselves without their swarm protecting them!"
"Floyd, this is a good thing! Besides, what is an elver anyway? You've been calling me one ever since I was injured. And I don't have a swarm!"
"Yes, you do! Jade and I are your swarm! We can't be having our little brother putting himself at risk!"
I went silent at what Floyd said. Little brother? I'm not their little brother. Floyd is known for going off in his own world from time to time but... I'm actually starting to worry that something happened to him.
"Floyd? Are you feeling alright?"
"Of course I am, Shrimpy! Although, you walking around as if you're some stingray, did give me a bit of a fright~"
"I wanted to make sure, Floyd, you do realize that I'm not your little brother right?"
"What are you talking about, Shrimpy? You've always been our little brother! Shrimpy can be soooooo forgetful sometimes~"
"No, Floyd. I'm not your brother."
Floyd's lazed/relaxed facial expression turned into a scowl when I tried to press the fact that we're not related. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a light, warning squeeze.
"Shrimpy, I'm not in the mood to hear lies from you. You ARE my little brother, an elver, and you are not ready to walk around the school by yourself."
If Floyd squeezes me now, there's a good chance that something will break again and I will have to be bed ridden again. I can deal with Floyd acting as if I was a baby eel for a little while. He'll get bored after a short while with this.
"Okay, okay, sorry Floyd. I think hitting my head from my fall must have caused me to forget some things."
"It's okay, Shrimpy~ You can be stupid from time to time but that's because you're still growing~ Soon enough, you're going to be as long as Jade and I! Now back to bed you go!"
Floyd picked me up and plopped me back down on the bed. The nurse tried to explain to Floyd that I was fine to walk on my own. He didn't take it kindly.
"Are you trying to tell me how to take care of my younger brother? Sounds like a nurse shark wants to be squeezed today~"
The nurse backed down after that. I don't blame him though. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of Floyd's aggressions. Floyd didn't look away from the nurse and looked like he was going to attack the nurse anyway. I had to do something before Floyd acted on his impulses.
"So, Floyd, what do you have planned for us today? I really want to bond with my big brother some more!"
I've never seen Floyd's head turn so fast or his expression change more than it did right then. For a second there, Floyd's smile could actually challenge Kalim's smile for the brightest smile in the world.
"Oh, I'm so glad that you asked, Shrimpy~! I originally planned on taking us to the Mostro Lounge so that we can swim for a bit, then we could go find Goldfishie and bother him for a bit and finally, end the day with some basketball! Buuuutttttt I think that we should just take it easy today and just talk. You've already had enough action today with that scary walking stunt that you had this morning. Right, Shrimpy?"
Floyd's expression changed once again. His eyes held a dangerous glint that threatened me to agree with him. I only nodded my head because I don't trust my voice to stay strong.
"Gooooooddd~"
Floyd and I talked and ate together in the nurse's office for a majority of the day. I was quite shocked by the fact that Floyd fought his mood swings away. He mentioned multiple times how bored he was and how he wanted to go bother someone or go do something but what he said afterwards is the reason why I really need to talk with Jade.
"But... I need to protect Shrimpy~ So many predators here would love to sink their teeth into a yummy elver~"
I don't think I've ever been more happy to see Jade walk into the nurse's office. Nor do I think I've ever seen Jade so shocked before.
"Oh, you were actually telling the truth."
"What~? Why would I lie to you?"
"Apologies but I truly thought that you would have ran off by now."
"Yeeeeeessshhh. Nice to know how much you trust me, Jade. But we need to have a talk."
I raised an eyebrow at Floyd. What did they need to talk about? Probably some Mostro Lounge business that I can't know about.
"Shrimpy here was walking around on his own two legs this morning!"
Jade looked even more shocked at Floyd's words. He was quick to rush to my bedside and pulled out his pen. It started glowing but I was just confused as to what he was doing exactly.
"There's no life threatening damage but that doesn't mean that there is no damage at all. What were you thinking, (Y/N)? You shouldn't be putting your body under strain."
"The nurse said that I was okay to move around again. I'm no longer in pain whenever I move, Jade!"
"Oi, Shrimpy, watch your tone. There's no reason to talk to your older brother like that."
Floyd grabbed my hand and started to squeeze it. It got so harsh that I started to writhe from the pain.
"Easy on him, Floyd. Remember what we've learned about children. When they act up, it's because they don't think that they're getting enough attention. (Y/N) here probably just feels very neglected."
"What?!"
"Riigghhtt! Shrimpy must be acting up because I didn't take him on adventures like I normally do! Shrimpy, if you were feeling suffocated in this room, you could have just told me! I wouldn't be mad~!"
Floyd then let go of my hand and pressed a light kiss to my palm. As if that would take away the pain. Jade only nodded his head before picking me up bridal style.
"Jade?! Put me down now!"
"Now, now, I know that elvers like you want to move on their own but Floyd and I cannot have you risk your health and safety anymore. Come along, Floyd. Let's go see Azul."
"Yippee! Let's go on an adventure!"
Floyd busted the doors down to the ground and made sure that Jade had a clear path of walking. Jade took his time walking with me in his arms. Eventually, we made it to the main area of the school where there were many more students. I swallowed very harshly. One misstep and I was going to be hurt once again. Thankfully, it turns out that the tweels had a plan before I did.
"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY! SHRIMPY COMING THROUGH!"
Floyd ran throughout the hallway full force, either scaring or pushing students out of the way, giving Jade a safe pathway to walk and carry me through. I still had a bunch of bandages on me and when Floyd would drag me around normally, students would be in classes. Now, it was passing time for certain classes. Everybody was staring at me and I felt my face burn with embarrassment. I buried my face into Jade's blazer and heard him chuckle.
"Don't laugh at me."
"Sorry, (Y/N). I just wished that I knew how cute my younger brother could be."
"I'm not your younger brother."
"Don't be silly, (Y/N). Of course, you are! If you weren't, why would Floyd and I be taking care of you?"
"Because we're friends?"
"Nonsense. If Azul was in your situation, I assure you..."
Jade shifted my head so that I could see his very sharp teeth.
"He would not be getting the same treatment that you are."
I shut up after that. It's times like these when I question which Leech twin is worse to deal with. Floyd is loud and destructive but Jade is always unassuming which results in me forgetting why I should be wary of him as well. As soon as either Floyd, Jade or Azul is done and bring me back to the nurse's office, I'm heading straight for Ramshackle. Don't care if I have to sit on my butt to go down the stairs, I'm sleeping in Ramshackle tonight.
"Phew! I think I cleared the way enough. See, Shrimpy! Now you're getting plenty of fresh air and we're having a fun adventure like a family! Ahhh~ I can't wait for the day that we can terrify all of these boring guppies together!"
I looked at Floyd and gave him a meek smile. I already tried both of the tweels to get out of this situation to no avail. Last thing that I needed was to upset both of them.
"Good job, Floyd. Would you like to hold our younger elver for a while?"
"Yes!"
I was passed to Floyd's arms. He gave me a light squeeze before starting to skip through the hallways. I've never felt so much like a doll before.
"Mr. (Y/N)!"
Professor Trein! My savior!
"Why were you not in class today? The nurse told all of the staff that you were healed enough to go to class this morning!"
"Ehh~ Red Squid sensei, Shrimpy her-"
"I do not care for what you have to say, Mr. Leech. Mr. (Y/N) now must get to class. Put him down and run off to your own classes."
Floyd glared at Trein before, reluctantly putting me down on my feet. I was slightly wobbly but thankfully, Trein let me lean on him. Jade and Floyd just continued to glare at Trein until we both were out of their line of sight.
"Thank you, Professor Trein. I really appreciate you helping me out there."
Trein gave me a perplexed look before pulling me off to the side.
"What do you mean 'helping', Mr. (Y/N)?"
I gave Trein the quick rundown of what happened this morning. He knew that I was injured but he didn't know about the tweels' behavior.
"That about sums it all up."
Trein had a look on his face as if I were a ghost. Or some rare creature considering we see ghosts all of the time.
"This is far more concerning than their normal behaviors. Mr. (Y/N), I recommend staying away from the Leech twins. It would be the best for your own safety."
My heart filled up with unease at Professor Trein's words. I hated the idea of just ghosting Floyd and Jade but I do think that some time away from them would do me some good and vice versa.
I nodded my head before following Trein to Alchemy class. Our entrance was really loud mainly because we had a test in class today. My normal first year crew was there but also a good portion of third years was also there. Turns out it was another mix class. I turned my attention to Professor Crewel, who was writing furiously at his desk.
"Ah. The mutt has finally arrived. Did you already give him detention, Trein?"
"No."
Professor Crewel's pen stops mid-motion before Crewel lifted his head, looking at Trein with disbelief.
"How come?"
"He wasn't ditching class on purpose. Floyd and Jade were preventing him from coming to class."
All of the writing pens went still and the room reached new levels of silent. Everybody was now looking at me with concern. All of them knew that if the Leech twins have any interest in you, you are in trouble.
Crewel and Trein seem to have a silent conversation before Crewel stands up.
"All of you puppies, continue your tests! Mutt, take your seat and don't cause a mess. Professor Trein and I have some things to discuss."
I only gave Crewel a quick bow when he was leaving the room with Trein before taking the only seat left in the class. Between a first year that I don't know very well and Trey.
Trey looked over at me. I gave him a quick smile to show that I was alright. He tapped the bandages on my arm, before putting a dramatic frown. I waved my hand before putting my fingers to the corner of my lips and lifted them into a smile.
Crewel walked back in and Trey and I stopped miming to each other. I just sat there staring at my blank desk while waiting for everyone to finish with their tests.
"Mutt."
I raised my gaze to meet Crewel's stare. I couldn't stop myself from flinching. It felt like he was staring into my soul slightly.
"Y-yes, Professor?"
"I want to talk with you after class. Don't try to escape with the crowd."
"Yes, Professor."
My voice could barely count as a whisper. I felt the pity radiating off of all the other students for me. First, I was stuck with Floyd and Jade and now, I'm going to be stuck with Professor Crewel. Oh why, oh why did the nurse have to give an okay to leave?! Why couldn't he have waited for tomorrow when Kalim and Jamil were going to visit?!
After about ten more minutes, people started to turn in their tests before leaving the classroom. I watched as Ace and Deuce left. I waved at them while they left. Ace sent me a heart symbol while Deuce gave two thumbs up. Malleus and Lilia were the next of my friends to leave. Lilia put a small bag on my desk while Malleus only stared at me. Soon enough, the only people in the classroom left were Trey, Crewel and myself. Trey already turned in his test but was just standing in front of my seat to talk with me.
"Are you sure that you'll be okay? I can stay behind if you're scared."
"I'll be okay, Trey. I do owe Professor Crewel anyway. I've been only a mutt to him for a while now. Maybe I can make it up to him."
Trey looked displeased when I said mutt but I pushed him slightly in the shoulder.
"Head on out. If you're so worried about me, you're allowed to wait for me outside. I wouldn't mind company for the trip back to Ramshackle."
Trey casted me one more sad look before leaving. After he left, Crewel stood up and took his place at my seat.
"Alright, mutt. Trein explained to me about your... situation with the Leech twins. Floyd and Jade acted highly inappropriate for it to just be written off as a casual misunderstanding. If you wish, as much as I despise taking care of the mutts of the litter, I am willing to make sure that you're safe from being torn apart by the purebreds."
I only shook my head at Crewel's offer. If Crewel did try to intervene like how Trein did, it would just cause more chaos for me. Last thing that anybody needs are angry human eels. Crewel gave me a disgusted look when I started to shake my head.
"I'm a bit offended that a mutt like you refused my services. But! I'm relieved that I don't have to protect filthy, impure mutts like you."
Crewel's words stung me a bit but in all honesty, I was used to them by now. He has always had a weird grudge against me since I first arrived at Twisted Wonderland.
"T-thank you for the offer, Sir. I'll be on my way now."
I got out of my seat and rushed out of the alchemy room with Lilia's tiny bag. Last thing that I need to do is upset Crewel even more and actually get detention for skipping. I let out a sigh of relief.
"(Y/N)!"
Deuce's voice flooded my ears before I felt him. He wrapped me in a tight hug. It caused a bit of discomfort but not as bad as Floyd's squeezes could be.
"Ouch. Hiya, Deucey!"
"Ouch? Am I hurting you?!"
"Only a tad but I know that you're doing it by accident."
"I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!"
"Calm down, Deuce. It's not a problem! What are you doing here exactly?"
"I asked them the same thing when I left the classroom."
Trey spoke up with Ace by his side.
"We're here because of the fact that you're our friend! Crewel can be so harsh to you sometimes! Really? MUTT?! At least Deuce and I get called puppies but you just get called a mutt!"
Ace continued to rant in his own world while we all just listened. Trey and Deuce agreed a lot with what Ace was saying, even as it went into dragging others.
"And who do those twins think they are?! The nurse said that you were okay to go back to classes and they prevented you from doing so?! They should be expelled for doing something like that!"
"You should really watch your mouth, Trappola."
"Yeah, Crabby. You never know who might be around to hear it."
Ace's face became paler even more than it normally is when he heard Floyd and Jade's voice come from around the corner. I totally thought that Ace was going to be a goner but amazingly, the tweels let it slide. Unfortunately, it was because their attention was laser focused on me.
"Shrimpy~~~! Let's go to the Mostro Lounge now! Elvers like you need all of the yummy food that they can get! I'm pretty certain that Crabby couldn't feed you the food that you need!"
Floyd grabbed my wrist and started pulling it, trying to drag me away from the Heartslabyul students. I started to put up some resistance against Floyd which surprisingly got his attention.
"Shrimpy, don't fight me! I only want what's best for you~"
"OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"
"URK!"
A collar appeared around Floyd's neck and a wind spell sent him flying backwards into Jade. Riddle, basically coming out of nowhere and in his dorm uniform, looked really, really mad. His head was reaching new shades of dark red that I don't think that the art majors of my world would be able to identify.
"FLOYD! You're not allowed to bother any of my dorm members for your own entertainment! Trey, Deuce, Ace. Grab (Y/N) and come along. We have important plans to take care of!"
"Yes, Dorm Leader Rosehearts!"
Ace and Deuce linked their arms with one of my own on each side while Trey went behind all of us to prevent either Floyd or Jade grabbing me from behind.
"YOU CAN'T JUST STEAL OUR ELVER! BRING HIM BACK!"
Floyd was screaming and throwing a fit while Jade was silent. I tried to turn my head to see if I could get a glance at either of them but Trey only put his hand on the back of my neck.
"Don't look back at them. I don't want you to be influenced by their terrible behavior."
I gulped when I heard the disdain in Trey's voice. It's so weird to hear such a negative tone from a person who is normally so chill. Ace and Deuce appeared to have agreed with what Trey said.
"It's bad enough that you had to spend every Wednesday with those three. Who knows what damage they did to you?"
"Yeah! We're going to make sure that you're far away from bad influences!"
I thought about what Ace said before I started laughing.
"What are you laughing about?"
"Ace. You are the king of bad influences. Before my fall, you wanted me to join you in putting five bath bombs into each toilet that is in the main building. I had to restrain you from doing that."
"Shhhhhh, we don't need to talk about that."
"Ace, I'll be having a talk with you later."
Riddle turned his head to glare at Ace. Deuce and Trey started snickering at the interaction between Ace and Riddle. They started to bicker about whether or not Ace deserves to be punished.
"I DIDN'T DO IT!"
"Your thoughts will soon become your actions! If (Y/N) wasn't there, you would have done it!"
"okay, that might have some truth BUT I STILL DIDN'T DO IT!"
After about five minutes of walking, we reached the Pop Music Club room. Cater, Kalim and Lilia were rocking out and they appeared to be having a blast. Ace and Deuce let go of my arms and I got closer to their makeshift stage. Sometimes I wish that I was better at playing an instrument so that I could join them but... I think that I would only bring down their performances.
After about two minutes of them not realizing that we were there, Cater took notice and appeared to have gone through a mental pause. Because he stopped singing and playing, Lilia and Kalim stopped playing their instruments as well.
"(Y/N)!!!"
Kalim lunged at me from behind his drums to enwrap me in a hug. I was mildly prepared but it still ended up hurting me.
"Ow, hiya, Kalim!"
Kalim didn't react to me saying ow like how Deuce did before.
"You're walking! Oh, that's amazing news! I'll get Jamil to host a huge celebration for the fact that you can move around again! I'm thinking fifty purple peacocks and plenty of golden camels will be a good start for your parade!"
Kalim went off into a planning scheme. I tried to get him to stop for Jamil's sake. There's no telling what Jamil might do if Kalim does something like this.
"I don't need all of that. Promise."
"Dorm leader Rosehearts, what brings you here? Did Ace-chan and Deuce-chan mess things up again?"
Cater's teasing tone triggered Ace and Deuce's need to defend themselves from the teasing.
"Kidding, kidding~!"
"I was tasked by the Headmage to deliver these papers to you. He made it very clear that you need to have these papers filled out by tomorrow morning."
Cater took the papers before turning his attention to me.
"Yo, (Y/N)-chan's out of bed! I need a photo of this!"
Cater was quick to get to my side and put his arm around my shoulders. Kalim and Lilia were quick to get in the picture as well before Cater took many photos.
"Perfect!"
"Ah, my little bat! Did you like what I made for you~?"
Oh, right! I forgot about the bag that Lilia gave me. I quickly grabbed it from my pocket and opened it. Inside were little black things that I think were supposed to be cookies.
"Cookies?"
"Correct! I was trying out a healthier recipe that would be able to heal you faster! But it seems that my hard work wasn't needed after all. Makes me a bit sad."
"Don't feel bad! I'm not a hundred percent better yet. Just good enough to walk around by myself."
Lilia's face fell while I grabbed one of the 'cookies'. I popped one into my mouth. The taste exploded in my mouth and I had to shake my head to try and get used to the taste. Lilia's cooking can send your soul into the next five dimensions sometimes.
"He let you walk without a complete bill of health?!"
"No, he did. The fact that he said that I was good enough to walk is a clean bill of health."
"Is that true? Humans have such a lazy way of taking care of the injured."
I only nodded, mainly because trying to convince Lilia that this was the better way for humans to recover would be near impossible. Although I had to admit, even though Lilia's cooking blasted my taste buds to new dimensions, Kalim's tight hug around my waist stopped aching.
"(Y/N). We must be on our way."
Riddle came up to me with Ace, Deuce, Trey and Cater behind him. I guess that Pop Music Club was done for the evening. I start to move forward but Kalim's grip tightened. I couldn't move an inch away.
"Why does he have to go with you? Jamil and I are going to be watching him tomorrow!"
"W-w-wait a-"
"Because he needs someone who can actually watch over him during the last stages of his recovery."
"Jamil and I are plenty responsible!"
Kalim was showing a completely different side of him. He seemed really possessive.
"Are you denying an order from me, Kalim?"
"Maybe I am!"
"Kalim."
Everybody then turned their heads to Jamil, who I believe was there to pick up Kalim.
"Yeah, Jamil?"
"We need to get going."
"Got it!"
Jamil started to walk, leaving Kalim still in the club room. Kalim seemed conflicted on whether or not to let go of me before settling on picking me up by my waist before running after Jamil.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow!"
"Wait a minute!!"
Kalim was much too fast for the other guys and caught up to Jamil with no problem.
"Jamil! (Y/N)'s feeling better! He can walk now!"
"I heard."
"He's also spending the night in the dorm!"
Jamil stopped before turning around to see me in Kalim's arms.
"H-hi... Jamil..."
Jamil had a mild wide eyed look while he was staring at me. I saw him take a deep inhale before closing his eyes and exhaling. He schooled his expression before continuing on with walking.
"Hello, (Y/N). Kalim. You know that I don't appreciate it when you bring in random guests without notifying me."
"Huh? But I thought you were the one who wanted (Y/N) to visit once he was feeling better?"
Jamil made a choked noise. That piece of news was interesting to hear from Kalim. I always thought that I was a further burden on Jamil's shoulders, not to mention the fact that I prevented his coup. Why would he want me to visit?
"Kalim. What have I told you about sharing private conversations?"
"It wasn't private! We had it in the kitchen. Many of the other Scarabia students agreed with having him over when you proposed the idea."
Jamil seemed to be getting more and more flustered at what he said. I felt bad.
"Kalim, maybe you shouldn't tease Jamil."
"I'm not teasing him!"
"You... kind of are."
"Oh. Sorry, Jamil!"
Jamil just decided to hide his face in his hoodie. I kept my eye on him. I made the mental note to try and apologize to Jamil later. I knew how Kalim got on his nerves very easily. We eventually made it to Scarabia and I was allowed to use my feet again.
"(Y/N)!"
I was surrounded by all different Scarabia students. They all had things in their hands. Apparently, back when I first got hurt, Kalim was very upset and told everybody about the news. I didn't realize how much the Scarabia students liked me because they ended up either making or buying things for me!
"Here! A stuffed parrot! Don't worry! It's only cloth and stuffing!"
"I know that you're almost fully healed but here. This is a cream that I use on injuries to soothe them."
"(Y/N)! As a thanks, I made you one of my mom's recipes! I messed up a lot of times in the kitchen but I think that you'll enjoy the outcome!"
I was mildly overloaded with all of the gifts.
"Thank you so much but you really didn't need to do all of this for me!"
"Nonsense, (Y/N)! You deserve all of this and so much more! Come along! Let's sit down while you continue to get gifts!"
Kalim pulled me along and sat me down on a cushion. I nearly melted in it. Compared to the cushions at Ramshackle or the nurse bed, it felt as if I was sitting on a cloud. I set the few gifts that I was holding down and that's where the other gifts were being put down.
"Kalim."
Kalim turned towards me with a shining look in his eyes. I felt so bad.
"I don't feel right accepting all of these. I haven't done anything to deserve all of this! All that I did was get hurt!"
"Shhhhh, (Y/N)! You shouldn't worry about it! You're Scarabia's little brother! We just want to spoil you!"
"WHAT?!"
LITTLE BROTHER?! What is wrong with everyone today?!
"Awww, (Y/N), don't get fussy! I know! Jamil!"
Kalim grabbed me in a hug. My back was against his chest and we were so close that I could feel his heartbeat. I tried to get out of his grip but Lilia's cookies were starting to wear off. The aches and pains were starting to come back. Jamil came from the kitchen, no longer having his hoodie covering his face.
"Yes, Kalim?"
"(Y/N) here is working himself up! Do you think that you can get him to relax?"
"Of course, (Y/N). Just look into my eyes and your worries will melt away."
I closed my eyes so fast. Jamil's unique magic was something that I never wanted to experience again.
"No! Jamil, you promised that you wouldn't do this to me again!"
"Shhhh, I won't hurt you. Just open your eyes. You'll be just fine."
I felt hands on my face and they pried my eyelids open. I was forced to stare straight into Jamil's eyes. I felt my resolve melt in a few seconds.
"There we go. Just relax. You're the little brother of Scarabia and you love being here with us. Scarabia students are the only ones with your safety in mind. The other dorms will hurt you without hesitation."
I felt my head nod. I don't understand why I was trying to fight Kalim. He only wanted to protect me.
"If another dorm member tries to interact with you, run and try to find a Scarabia student. They'll keep you safe."
I nodded my head again. A smile broke out on my face. A feeling of security enveloped me. I was so happy that my big brothers were around me. They just want to keep me safe.
"Are you done, Jamil?"
Kalim spoke in a whisper. I didn't completely understand why.
"Yes. He'll no longer give us trouble."
"Yay! Now! (Y/N)! How about after everyone finishes giving you their presents, we can throw a huge celebration for your return home!"
A giggle left my mouth.
"I love that idea, Big Brother Kalim."
About five days passed by while I was in Scarabia. I raised my concerns about my classes but Kalim or Jamil told me that everything was fine. That I didn't need to go to classes anymore. For some reason, that caused a part of my mind to grow uncomfortable with that thought. Why was I so determined to go to class? The other dorms would be in those classes! They'll hurt me!
"Are you sure that you guys have to go? Won't the other dorms hurt you guys as well?!"
Fear coiled around my heart like a snake for my big brothers. They were all so brave for going out into the school.
"Don't worry about us, (Y/N)! We can handle ourselves!"
"Besides, don't you remember?"
I looked at Jamil straight in the eyes.
"You're too weak to defend yourself."
My mind got muddled but I nodded my head yes.
"Yeah, you're right. I keep forgetting for some reason."
"Hehehehe! Don't worry, (Y/N)! I forget important things too! I wouldn't worry too much about it! Just rest in Scarabia and you'll be just fine!"
"If you say so, big brother!"
I waved everyone off before taking my seat in the lounge room. I took deep breaths to calm my heart before closing my eyes. I don't know why I always feel so worried about them leaving. They're strong unlike me.
I dozed off for a while. My dreams felt so life-like. I could have sworn that I was lifted off the ground by a million butterflies and was flown around the outside of Scarabia to enjoy the sun and scenery. Although I was given the biggest heart attack when I awoke.
I opened my eyes to see, well, nothing! There was just darkness. I haven't seen such darkness in a while. Ramshackle used to be very dark when I pulled the blinds shut but... Wait a minute, what's Ramshackle?
I heard footsteps echoing outside of the room that I was in. Maybe it was Jamil or Kalim? But why would my brothers pull such an awful prank on me? I soon got my answer. It was neither Kalim or Jamil.
The man who looked at me was wearing a deep purple outfit. It was like a dress without it being a dress. His hair was done really fancy and there appeared to be a crown on his head. I was terrified. It wasn't a Scarabia uniform which meant that this was probably someone from a different dorm! He's going to hurt me!
I let out whimpers. If I actually had a shot of taking the guy down, I would have screamed but I'm not strong enough to defend myself from him. The blonde man glared down at me.
"First Potato. Don't whimper. It isn't a good look on you."
The nickname rang bells in my head but I don't recognize him at all.
"Wh-who are you?"
The man appeared shocked by my question.
"What do you mean 'Who are you'? You know me quite well, First Potato!"
I shrunk when he raised his voice. He quickly noticed and tried to remedy his mistake.
"I apologize for scaring you, (Y/N). But I just can't believe that you forgot about me."
I stared at him and my mind was itching. It was most uncomfortable. Why did I feel like I knew him?
"Are you going to hurt me?"
The man looked appalled at the words that I said.
"Hurt you? Why would I hurt you? (Y/N). Nobody here wants to hurt you. It was bad enough that that Cucumber let you fall but I assure you that I will not cause you any harm. I owe you much better."
"Are you sure, Vil?"
"Hm? It appears that you do know me after all. I didn't tell you who I was."
I realized what I said. I do know this man! Vil Schoenheit! The famous model and actor! I helped him during VDC! My memories quickly came back! I had friends in other dorms! They wouldn't hurt me!
"Vil! It's a relief to see you again!"
I grabbed him in a hug and had the biggest smile on my face. A smile broke out on Vil's face as well. I felt his arms wrap around my body.
"It's a joy to see you as well, First Potato."
"But wait. Why am I in Pomefiore in the first place? I was in Scarabia for so long. I didn't think that anybody was searching for me."
"You're in Pomefiore, First Potato, because I heard from Epel that you weren't in class. I instructed Rook to go looking for you. The nurse told me and a few of the other dorm leaders that you should be back in classes last Thursday. It took Rook close to six days. Scarabia had you hidden well but thankfully, Rook overheard something from the potatoes from Heartslabyul. I can't believe what those spuds from Scarabia kept you captive!"
"Yeah, they all were acting really weird! Floyd and Jade were acting in a similar way."
Vil tilted his head slightly.
"How exactly were they acting?"
A sigh escaped my lips.
"They keep acting as if I'm their younger brother and that I can't do a single thing for myself! For crying out loud! I took care of overblots, I fought ghosts and students who decided to pick a fight, I took care of Ramshackle nearly by myself! I'm not a little boy!"
I clenched my hands into fists. What has been happening really has taken a huge toll on my mental state. Tears of frustration started to pool in the corners of my eyes.
"Calm down, First Potato. You're working yourself into dismay. You wouldn't want your eyes puffy, now do you? Follow my actions."
Vil coached me through a breathing exercise. I felt my panic ebb away and the tears no longer forming.
"Thank you again, Vil. I'm just really tired right now."
Vil gave me a pat on my head, which made me smile.
"It's not a problem for me, First Potato. But you shouldn't sleep any more. Naps can be useful in case of a bad night's sleep but I'm certain that you got plenty of sleep in Scarabia."
I nodded my head. Last night was the only night that there wasn't a huge party if my memory is correct. Although, I really wouldn't trust it for the fact that I was under a lot of mind control during that time.
"So, instead of taking a nap, we're going to do some other relaxing activity. You're lacking a certain glow that you normally have."
Vil grabbed one of my hands before pulling me out of the room. He led me through the hallways of Pomefiore before stopping in front of a different room. He knocked on the door pretty loudly.
"Rook! Come out please!"
The door opened swiftly and there was Rook in all of his glory.
"Roi du Poison! Oh, and my Jeune Chercheur de Beauté! It's wonderful to see you awake from your slumber although..."
Rook's smile turned into a scary smirk.
"Your sleeping face gave me the most euphoria that I've ever experienced! There was nothing more that I wanted than to split your head open and crawl inside to see what made you so calm and happy in your dreams."
Rook went on a tangent and I was starting to get uncomfortable. Rook can really go into the smallest details that even a person who spends a whole day in front of a mirror wouldn't notice.
"Rook."
Rook stopped mid sentence before clasping his hands together.
"Right! Forgive me, Roi du Poison! I got lost in my Trickster's beauty. Now, what may I do for you, my Lovely Queen?"
"I want you to take (Y/N) and get him some proper clothing. Those rags that Kalim and Jamil made him wear are quite insulting."
I looked down at my clothes. I didn't even realize that I was wearing a Scarabia uniform! When did I get changed?!
"Oui, oui, Beautiful Vil! I'll make sure that he is put into clothing that compliments your and his beauty perfectly! Now, come with me, Jeune Chercheur de Beauté. Let's get your beauty to shine above all others."
Rook left his room and started to guide me from behind. He kept a tight grip on my shoulders and started to push me towards somewhere else in Pomefiore.
"This way, this way, Trickster."
"Where are we going, Rook?"
"You'll see!"
I let out a light laugh. To be honest, this is probably the most fun that I've had ever since I was released from bed rest. Although Grim is probably freaking out by now.
"Here we are!"
I was jostled out of my thoughts when Rook opened a very large room. I was in awe of all of the clothes there. There were so many beautiful clothes. They all appeared to be of high quality as well.
"Now! Let's find the perfect outfit to compliment your beauty!"
I lost count of how many outfits that I had tried on. Rook complimented all of them but he would always end his compliments with the same ending statement.
"While your beauty is shining bright, I know that you could be shining brighter."
We finally chose a really beautiful outfit. I remember seeing it in a catalogue that Vil had a few months ago. I did want the outfit but there was no way that I could afford it. It compliments my skin and hair perfectly.
"TRÉS BIEN!! OH, MON JEUNE CHERCHEUR DE BEAUTÉ! Je n'ai jamais vu quelqu'un briller autant que toi en ce moment! Pomefiore a tellement de chance que tu fasses partie de notre dortoir comme tous les nôtres juniors! Bien que, je dois l'admettre, si vous êtes toujours proche de moi, j'aurai toute la beauté dont j'ai besoin dans ma vie pour durer éternellement!"
"Thank you?"
"Non, non, thank YOU, Trickster! For blessing me with a wonderful sight!"
I heard a vibration and Rook pulled out his phone. A smile broke out on his face.
"Perfect timing! Come along, Mon Jeune Chercheur! Roi du Poison requires your presence."
Rook grabbed my wrist and started to lead me somewhere else in Pomefiore. I saw Epel during the trip and gave him a wave. He looked shocked before rushing to catch up with Rook and me.
"(Y/N)! Where have you been?! Ace, Deuce, and Jack have been searching for you all over school! Sebek and I have been taking care of Grim and Ramshackle for ya! Even though Grim has been really upset without you recently."
"I was... mildly kidnapped by Scarabia for the past few days."
Epel's eyebrows went up before his face contorted into a scowl.
"Those gluttonous hogs... I'll make sure that they pay!"
"We're here, Roi du Poison!"
Rook opened some other doors and inside was what I would call a full photography studio. Cameras, lights, backdrops, makeup on the side, everything! Vil was there, wearing a beautiful outfit himself and had a full face of makeup on.
"Ah, it's about time, First Potato. Ah, Epel, you've come along as well."
"Well, I really wanted to see (Y/N) again."
I was mildly surprised at how quiet Epel was being. He actually appeared to be bashful.
"Well, if you're quick enough and actually listen to instructions, you can join the photo shoot."
Epel looked shocked before a huge smile appeared on his face.
"Really?!"
"Yes, but you have to clean up and get your makeup done!"
"Right!"
Epel ran off into one of the side rooms to most likely get ready. I've never seen him listen to Vil so enthusiastically before.
"Now, come here First Potato."
I returned my attention to Vil who had his arms open to me. I walked up to him, a bit confused on what he wanted me to do. He gestured to the camera and I got the hint. I moved to in front of the camera and stood there.
"Why am I doing this?"
"We're doing this to capture your natural beauty while putting you in a low stress environment. You mentioned how you were tired and creating beautiful works of art is a relaxing activity that we can do together."
"W-w-wait, these photos won't be p-posted anywhere? Right?"
"Of course not, First Potato. I know how much you get nervous about photos of you."
I felt the tension leaving my body. Knowing that I could just have fun pictures that don't need to be one hundred percent perfect was a joy to hear. Vil kept talking to the camera man when Epel came back with an outfit of his own. It was a bit cutesy but he didn't seem too annoyed by it.
"There! I even wore the outfit you picked, Vil!"
There's his annoyance.
"Hmmmm, you rushed your makeup, hair and the outfit looks thrown on. Ugh, maybe I'm feeling more lenient because of my junior being here or I must be going crazy, but go on."
Epel jumped slightly before running to me. He even captured me in a hug.
"(Y/N)! It's a wonder to see ya again! To be honest, the school is kind of falling apart with you out of action for so long."
"Oh! That's... really not good."
NRC falling apart is the nearly last thing that I want. I mean, sure. When I first got it here, I was highly uncomfortable but now. This place is like a second home to me.
"Alright! Roi Du Poison has placed me in charge of making sure everyone is in their correct positions! Alright, Mon Jeune Chercheur! Over here!"
Rook grabbed my hands and led me over to a plain white cube. He first sat on it before positioning me on top of him.
"Um, Rook?"
"It will be fine, Trickster! Now, Epel, please come over here!"
Epel rushed over, put his hands in a crisscross position, lay them in my lap before settling his head on top of them. His head facing the camera while he was kneeling. I stayed as still as possible before Vil came over and stood behind me and Rook. He put his hand on my shoulder. It kind of felt like a family portrait.
"We need at least one formal photo before we can do more. Now, everyone, give the camera your best smile."
I looked at the camera and gave it my best smile. I hope that it's enough to make the picture look well. The photographer took many pictures of us in the position and at different angles. My eyes were mildly blotchy after that.
"There we go. Now, time for other poses."
I don't know how many hours we spent there but I must admit. It was so much fun to just have a photo shoot with my Pomefiore friends. Some of the photos were just me and Epel or me and Rook or me and Vil. Each one had a different feel. Vil's photos were more serious while Epel's photos had a more fun vibe. Rook's photos were light hearted but at the same time, my heart raced because of the look in his eyes.
"Wow, I think that I really needed this. Thanks Vil for coming up with this."
"No problem, First Potato. Although you should probably rest now. It's gotten quite dark."
"Has it?!"
I moved to leave the room and took a look outside. Sure enough, the moon was in the sky at Pomefiore.
"Oh no! I need to get to Ramshackle. Thank you guys so much for hanging out with me but I really do need to leave!"
"Wait!"
"Non!"
"Hold on-!"
I didn't wait to hear their protests before running down the hallways.
"I'll return the outfit tomorrow! I promise!"
I didn't have the time to change. I had to get back to Ramshackle. Grim will never forgive me for taking this long to recover and see him again. It took me around six minutes to reach Ramshackle and I bursted through the doors. The ghosts there looked shocked before they became overjoyed.
"(Y/N)!"
"Welcome back!"
"We've missed you!"
"Thanks for the warm welcome guys! But where's Grim?"
"Upstairs in bed!"
"Thank you!"
I ran up the stairs and quietly opened the door to see Grim curled up in a ball on the bed. I shut the door before walking to him and gently started to pet his back. He leaned into my touch before opening his eyes.
"(Y/N)!"
Grim jumped onto me to smother my face.
"Hello, Grimmy! It's wonderful to see you as well!"
Grim had a big grin on his face before his expression turned into a dark one.
"You need to leave."
Saying that I was confused would have been an understatement.
"Wh-what do you mean? Grim, aren't you glad that I'm back?"
"I am! But all of those other guys are insane! They've been talking about kidnapping you to 'keep you safe'!"
"WHAT?!"

Word count: 2.2k
Warnings/tags: Some skin to skin contact, but this is all super fluff.
A/N: I diffused my curls the other night and got this idea when I realized I was out of hair spray lol haven't posted my fanfics before but I figured I should start. Thanks for reading ❤️
Tumblr media
No matter if it was hot or cold out, you always found a way to wear your hair up…. Except today you were about to compromise. The day was especially frigid and just breezy enough to freeze your ears to the point they hurt. To add to it the sun wasn't even out AND you forgot your scarf. A shiver struck down your spine, violent enough to catch Steve's attention next to you as he walked you home from work.
He sighed, dejected, and began stripping his jacket off. "Look I told you, just take my coat-"
"I don't need the coat, Steve," You insisted as you attempted to stuff your neck into your own jacket. It didn't work, the jacket barely had any collar to snuggle into and no hood. "I need a scarf…. Or a hat."
"Damn, I knew I should've driven today," He muttered.
"But I like walking with you."
Steve shook his head, a knowing smile on his face. "You're miserable."
"I was late, okay? I know exactly where my scarf is at home too. Besides, I can manage." You replied. Another breeze bit at your face and made you wince. Everything seemingly against you, you gave in and reached up to take out the neat bun resting at the back of your head. Funnily enough, getting the bun just right was what had made you late that morning.
You used your finger tips to loosen your roots and let your hair fall down over your ears. You could tell just by feeling it that it had gone frizzy again, the dry winter air definitely not helping matters. To try and retain some heat you pressed your hair to your ears with your palms.
Steve gazed over at you and realized your hair was longer than he had initially thought. "I don't think I've ever seen you with it down." You heard him say, muffled slightly by your hands.
You turned slightly and looked at him. "Well mom won't let me cut it and it's always frizzy anyway. Trust me, I wouldn't have it down right now if my ears didn't feel like they were about to fall off," You chuckled, beginning to get self conscious as you pet it down a bit.
"It's probably because you have curly hair," He replied without missing a beat.
You pointed a baffled expression at him. "Huh?"
"The frizz," he gestured towards his own hair, "It's probably because your hair is curly."
You laughed sardonically. "Steve, I don't have curly hair, it's just damaged."
"What do you mean, I see it trying to curl right here," He argued as he reached over and tugged at a piece of your hair in the back. "And here," He tugged another.
You batted his hand away half heartedly. "Shut up, no it's not." You replied with a smile, however there was a tinge of seriousness behind it. You hadn't had curly hair a day in your life, just frizz and troubles. The fact that your mother never commented on it either sealed your conviction as well.
Steve's face lit up suddenly and he sped up to be slightly in front of you as you two walked. "I can prove it!" He exclaimed with a goofy grin and a sparkle in his eye. "Let me do your hair."
Your head swerved back in surprise. "Do my hair?"
"Yeah! I'm like 99.999% positive you have curly hair just waiting to bounce up and frame that face of yours."
You gave him a skeptical look. "Yeah right."
"Listen-" He shuffled in front of you, making you both stop on the sidewalk, "I’m so positive we can just make it a bet."
You smirked and crossed your arms, leaning over on one leg. You liked the sound of that, now it was a game. "Alright, fine. You lose and you have to…” You pondered for a moment, trying to think of something you would pay to see. Then it comes to you. “You have to run around your block in nothing but your underwear.” A little dumb, but it was on the spot. Plus it was something you would find hilarious... and you also wouldn’t mind admiring the sight of him doing that from afar.
Steve rolled his eyes and put his hands on his hips. “Seriously?”
You nodded once. “And you have to jump in the pool after.”
He put his hands up, stopping you from adding anything else. “Okay, sure, sure,” His eyes were wide and he shook his head exasperated. Now you really hoped he couldn’t make your hair curl naturally. “But if you lose,” He continued and pointed a finger in your face. “You have to go on at least one date with me.”
You raise a brow at him incredulously. This wasn’t the first time he’s asked you this. The amount of times you’ve rejected him could fill up a notebook as this point. It wasn’t because you didn’t like him or weren’t attracted to him though, quite the opposite in fact. But you had told him before and you would tell him again: You don’t want a relationship to ruin the friendship. You didn’t want to take any chances when it came to possibly losing him. The scar on your arm from battling demo-dogs with him was evidence of that.
But if you lost… a single date couldn’t hurt. It was only one, right?
He held your gaze while you thought it over. “What’d’ya say?” He asked like you both had nothing to lose.
You pulled your fingers down along your frizzy hair, which was growing worse by the second. There’s no way you had curly hair.
“You’re insufferable, Harrington…. Deal.”
__________
The water felt magical on your face and ears as it cascaded down, covering you in a blanket of calm and warmth. You could finally feel your ears again and the weight of the grime from work was finally off your shoulders.
“Hey,” A voice from the door drifted through the steam to you, “Be sure that when you get out you don’t use the towel to dry your hair, just leave it dripping wet.”
“Okay,” You called back.
“And remember to let that conditioner sit in your hair for a while.”
“I know.”
“Oh and brushing it out while you’re in the shower with the conditioner on is better-”
“Steve, I know!” You laughed. He already gave you this run down before you got in his shower. “You’re a control freak, you know that?”
“The process is important!” He whined back at you. “If you mess up the process your side of the bet is null and void and I win by default!”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t fight a smile from spreading across your face. You turned, putting down the comb and rinsed out the conditioner Steve had gotten for you. Running your hands through it you noticed a foreign smoothness in the texture. Your fingers glided through the strands more easily, but you couldn’t tell if that was from the brushing you just did or the conditioner.
Finally satisfied with the time spent warming up and treating your hair, you got out of the shower, dried, and began to put on your clean clothes. You weren’t about to put on your work outfit back on until you absolutely had to, so when you had gotten home earlier you grabbed a new set and went to the store with Steve for the conditioner.
Once dressed, you opened the door and felt a blast of fresh, cool air hit your face. Your new shirt was already soaked at the shoulders considering you hadn’t yet tried to dry your hair yet, per Steve’s instruction.
“Alright, dingus, I’m ready.”
Immediately Steve appeared in the doorway. “About time! The whole town’s probably out of hot water ‘cause of you,” He muttered, but the glee clearly written on his face told you he was genuinely excited to work his magic.
After wiping down the mirror from condensation, he grabbed hold of your wet shoulders and turned you away from the mirror. “You’re not allowed to look till I’m done.”
You scoffed “And what if I do?”
“Null and void,” He he sang into your ear with a cheeky grin. “Now flip your hair forward so your hair is hanging down.”
You did so, happy to get it off your soaked shoulders. You had no idea what he was doing and you could have sworn he was using one of his t-shirts to dry your hair, but you said nothing. At this point he was going through so much trouble that you wanted it to both succeed and fail.
Mousse squelched into his palm and you could hear it sizzle as he worked it into your hair, getting a dab of it almost inside your ear. You had pulled away and suppressed a laugh when his working hands got too close to your neck to wipe it away.
“Hold still, giggles,” He said in a playful tone, however when you glanced over at him his face gave off full concentration.
Eventually, after he was done making you flip your head every which way under the sun, he wiped his hands on your used towel, then bent down and grabbed the hair dryer from under the sink. He then began to attach another object to the nozzle.
“The hell is that thing?”
He plugged the cord into the wall. “It’s a diffuser, now shush,” he replied, switching on the dryer.
Over the course of 30 minutes he repeated the same movement over and over. Not once did you try to peak at your hair, even in your peripheral. If this worked, you wanted it to be a surprise. You could feel your stomach jump every time you felt him gently adjust your head angle or ran his hand up your bare neck. He was in such close proximity you caught a whiff of his cologne every so often. He was so close to you you began to just want to lean against him.
“Steve, my feet hurt,” You griped over the whir of the dryer, trying to ignore your thoughts.
“Almost done, I swear!” He responded.
A couple more minutes and you heard the dryer turn off, leaving an empty space in your ears replaced by the sound of an aerosol can spraying. Another smile fought its way onto you’re face.
Farrah Fawcett.
You knew the smell, your mother used it almost religiously. Only recently did you learn that Steve did too.
After some fluffing and a coughing fit from the both of you, you finally heard the can clink down on the counter. Steve rounded in front of you and began adjusting the top and sides framing your face. He delicately grasped your chin and turned your head as he adjusted your bangs. The brush of his fingers made your skin tingle, and when he let go it felt cold.
When he was finally content with his work, he grinned widely and grabbed your shoulders once more. “You ready to see?” His voice was dripping with excitement, he looked like he was about to burst at the seams.
With a smile and nod from you, he whipped you around to the mirror. You froze.
“What the….”
Shock. Utter and genuine shock.
“What do you think? It’s good, right? Well I mean good enough, I’ve only ever done mine and Dust’s hair and- and you have a lot more than I’ve ever worked with but uh….” He shrugged. “It’s hot.”
Your hand came up and began to feel at the fluff draped over your shoulders. How did he manage to get rid of so much frizz? And since when did your hair decide to be curly?
“This is insane!” You finally burst, bouncing up and down on your tip toes in happiness. “There’s so much volume and my face even looks slimmer- and look! A perfect noodle curl right here!” You pulled a strand down and watched it bounce back up when you let it go.
He beamed at you in the mirror, pride overlapping his features. “Yep, looks like you’re a curly girl now... And you know what?” He leaned in closer. “I told you so.”
It took a moment to register what he said while you admired your hair, but once you did you went stiff. .
His knowing smirk reflected back at you when you glanced at him in the mirror.
With a sigh of defeat, you turn to look at him face to face. “Alright, fine… you win-”
“What was that?” He cupped his ear at you obnoxiously.
You crossed your arms. “I said you win, Harrington.”
“One more time?”
“Are you waiting for a ‘null and void’ of your own? ‘Cause you’re pushin’ it.”
He put his hands up in surrender and he mocked by bowing his head. “Oh dear, my apologies, your highness.”
Shaking your head in annoyance, you turned back to the mirror for one last bout of admiration.
“Well, if you’re going to take me out, you better do it tonight. Lord knows I’m not getting it like this again on my own.” You imparted with a fluff of your locks. “But only one date, that was the deal.”
“No, no, I said at least one date. Very open ended statement, completely different-”
You rolled your eyes and grabbed the hair dryer, blasting it in his face for a moment. He jerked back, resting his hand on it to press it down. “Pushing it,” You warned.
He leaned into your personal space. “Well can we at least push it to a diner? I’m hungry and I have my word to live up to.”

Oh!! I don't know if I've mentioned but alongside a slowly growing pile of WIPs, my Balgruuf/Dragonborn fic, and my Hermaeus Mora cross stitch, I've actually been doing some writing for Oblivion? Based on my HoK that I drew and was probably my first post on here. It's only meant to be a four part HoK/Martin Septim thing based around the end of the main quest, parts of Shivering Isles, and a lil' bit beyond, and have been slowly chipping away at it for months. I've been really liking some of the progress and want to share part of it!!
The Imperial City was still a good half-day’s journey from where the Blades had camped out, and the feeling in Aelia’s chest was both relieved yet bittersweet. It was both where her journey had begun, on that fateful day in which the city guards had mistaken her for another and had her arrested, and with luck, it would also be where it ended once Martin officially took on the mantle of Emperor and lit the Dragonfires. She obviously wouldn’t be laying down her sword, but it would be the closure of what was no doubt the most dramatic chapter of her life, and the opening of a new one.
It looked so small from where they were, up in the hills near to Aleswell. Almost insignificant.
“It’s quite the sight, isn’t it…?” A voice, that of the soon-to-be Emperor, drew her mind out of its current wandering as she gave a slight nod. Martin was stood just behind her, to the side, looking at where she had sat herself down at the edge of a grassy verge. “Mind if I join you?”
All that she needed to do was pat at the grass beside her, and he was quick to make his way to the ground and sit by her side. A hand, warm and perhaps just as calloused as her own from all the recent battles, found its way towards the one which she had never bothered with returning to her lap. Words were not needed in that moment, that simple action was enough to convey what was on their minds.
Worry for what was to come, but hope for the future beyond.
None of the other Blades sought to interrupt the quiet between the two of them, aside from the occasional approaching of their location to see if they were still there, still safe.
The first time in which either of them made any sort of noise was when a butterfly emerged and landed atop her hair which she had let loose during this brief downtime, something which went unnoticed by her but managed to somewhat amuse him.
Martin pulled his hand away from hers, and turned to face her. “Hold still for a second,” he muttered, now reaching over towards her head. All that she could really do was look at him, confused, until he drew back, the creature now settled on his finger. “This little thing landed on you. Didn’t want you to end up running your hand through your hair and swatting it away, because I have seen you doing that a lot lately… at least when I have actually had a chance to see you.”
It wasn’t a lie. She had been moving almost non-stop ever for what felt like the past two, three months. More or less since she had needed to seek out an artefact of Daedric origin in order to make her way to Mankar Camoran. The only times in which she had been able to rest and recuperate were when Martin had ordered it of her. Usually, he had taken it upon himself to ensure that she had got the rest that she needed, escorting her to his personal quarters as opposed to the communal sleeping quarters.
The butterfly took off moments later, and Aelia let out a quiet laugh at the disappointed “oh…!” he had given off as a result. In turn, he started chuckling at her reaction once the dismay at the bug flying off had worn away.
When the laughter wore off, the hand which had previously been used to recover the butterfly from her hair reached out for her face, his thumb stroking across her cheek, before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to her lips. She accepted the gentle action wholeheartedly, bringing her own hand up to his. They then parted slightly; their foreheads pressed together as blue gazed into green.
“Martin… Would it be selfish if I were to ask for another?”
“Not when it is something that we both want.”

Thank uuuuu and I love ur work sm!!!
A/n: Hello Anon! This request was such a good idea and thank you for sending it in, I hope you like it! Sorry it's late, I've had a busy few days but hopefully, I can make up for it by posting my overdue fics soon. I hope you're all well and I wish you all good holidays my dears!
Ship: Natasha x Reader
Warnings: Insecurity (sort of)
Summary: Natasha had been fond of skating since she left the Red Room and had been asking you to go with her since you got together. Each time you'd said no until you felt guilty for not even giving it a chance. You ask her to go to the rink in the town square and it becomes one of the best dates of your life.

➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ Natasha had been skating ever since she left the Red Room. It was the perfect way to put her ballet skills to good use and get some exercise while at it. Since it had officially become winter in New York, the ice rink had been set up in the centre of the city and Nat had been begging you to go with her. The thing was, you hated ice skating. You’d never had good balance or posture and your clumsiness seemed to triple while on the ice.
Natasha had been asking you for days and days to go down to the rink this year but every time your answer had stayed the same: no. Although, it was starting to make you feel a little bit guilty. She seemed pretty down every time she heard your response. She seemed to get more and more bored before she even asked, then the question stopped. You seemed to miss it somehow. And there was only one way to fix that.
“Hey…Nat?” you asked as you walked into your living room. She was curled up under a thick mustard yellow blanket watching New Girl on TV.
“Yeah, what’s up?” she replied without even taking her eyes off of the screen.
“I was wondering if you wanted to go out?” you began to lose faith in what you were about to do. What if she got angry that now you wanted to go out despite all the times she’d asked you?
“Uh, yeah sure! Where were you thinking?” her eyes remained on the TV.
“How about the ice rink?”
As she faced you her eyes lit up and the biggest grin you’d ever seen her wear appeared on her face. You smiled wide in return. That was all the answer you needed.
Walking down the streets of New York while it’s dark and cold outside but kept warm with thick coats, scarves, gloves and bobble hats made it feel like you were living in a movie. The ice rink seemed to illuminate its surroundings, casting a shadow across your girlfriends face.
“I’m so happy you asked to do this, really. And I think you’ll like it even if you’ve got it in your head that you won’t. Ready?” Natasha asked you while you finished putting your skates on.
“Mhm,” you proceeded to follow her onto the ice. You were bombarded with skilled skaters sliding past you and couples holding hands while they glided together. It was all rather intimidating but all you needed to do to feel comfort again was look into the adoring eyes of Nat.
After ice skating for about half an hour, you began to get the hang of things. In no time you were doing small spins and had no need to focus solely on your movements, you could enjoy yourself too. The music was blasting and the lights were flashing blues, purples and reds while Natasha looked angelic. She had such delicate, smooth motions that it was as if she was underwater. Stopping to admire her, she laughed in response.
“You look stupid just gawking at me,” she threw her head back and laughed. You loved it when she did that. Her hair would fall gently behind her shoulders and down her back, her teeth sparkled and her face scrunched up in delight. This night had gone much better than you’d ever expected and was most definitely one of the best dates you had ever been on.

Chapter 1
Tumblr media
The only thing was, he didn't know I was only twenty and I had no way of finding him again.
If fate did bring us back together, would he mind that I was still a student? That I couldn't even drink when we went on dates?
Who am I kidding? Of course he would mind, he could get any woman he wanted, why would he want me?
"Morning, you feeling any better?" Ellie was awake before me as usual, she spent hours getting ready in the morning and was now sat at her desk finishing her make up.
"I suppose, can't beat myself up forever can I?" I was more the get up and go kind of girl, I could never understand why she'd take hours getting ready just to go to class but I suppose you never know who you're going to bump into.
"No you can not. Not when there's literally thousands of guys here to take your pick of."
"Psh!" I finally pull myself out of bed after thinking about the thought of possibly bumping into my hunk again I changed my mind about making myself a little more presentable.
"What d'ya mean psh?" Ellie turns to look at you, her mascara wand in her hand and only one eye made up, she looked ridiculous. How could you take her seriously looking like that?
"I mean I'm not interested in these childish boys anymore El, I want a man."
"Fuck me, you spoke to the guy for two minutes and already you're acting like you've lost the love of your life." Wow, that hurt a little.
"I didn't say I was talking about him although it would be nice. I just meant I'm sick of playing all these childish games and never knowing where I stand. Don't you get sick of being the one who always falls deeper? Getting messed about and then being the one who's left hurt?" I joined her at the desk, putting on a little mascara and eyeliner. "I want a man who knows what he wants and treats me better. Don't you?"
"Well shit, when you put it like that I can't argue with you. It would be nice, hey I wonder if Mr Aussie has a brother?" She waggles her eyebrows at me, making me laugh. "I gotta go babe, what class you got?"
"My first Comms class this morning." I did not sound excited at the prospect because I really wasn't. I'd put it off in freshman and sophomore years but thought I better get it over and done with before my senior year.
"Oh really? I didn't know you'd taken that class. I heard a load of seniors talking the other day and apparently the Professor is drop dead gorgeous. I was thinking about taking it up too just to see what all the fuss was about."
"Well that should make the class a lot more interesting, maybe it isn't going to be as bad as I thought."
"See, every cloud and all that. See you tonight, fancy the bar?" She shouts over her shoulder as she walks towards the door.
"Sounds good, see you later."
I looked over my outfit I'd already chosen for the day, just some jeans and a plain t-shirt and realised it wouldn't do. Not when there's the prospect of a hot Professor to impress. My wardrobe desperately needed an update, especially now I was focused on finding myself a man and not one of these easily pleased college boys, that were happy with anything as long as I showed a bit of leg and tits. I settled with some tight black jeans with a black, lace-rimmed, cami body suit and a cute little cream, cropped blazer to finish it off. It made me feel confident when I checked myself out in the mirror and if I do say so myself I looked smoking hot. I checked the time on my phone, realising I was going to be late I quickly ran the curling tongs through the ends of my long blonde hair before grabbing my bag and rushing out of the door.
In the hopes of catching the eye of this new professor I'd completely forgotten about the hottie from the coffee shop, which was probably a good thing, it's not like I'm ever going to see him again. I kind of wished I would though, especially when I was looking and feeling this great but hey, on to bigger and better prospects.
I thought that being late would mean I'd be stuck with a lame choice of desk in class but luckily the back row was practically empty and I could hide in the corner of the lecture theatre. I laughed to myself when I realised that practically all the girls were occupying the front desks, obviously they'd heard the rumours too.
I pushed my hair behind my ears and fumbled in my bag for my pen and notepad, when I glanced to the door and caught the eyes of a student I hadn't seen before. I couldn't deny how attractive he was, with his bright blue eyes and floppy hair, oh and that smile. Wow! He smiled brightly at me as he made his way to the back of the class, his eyes glinting, shining like diamonds as he ignored the whispers from the girls at the front. The whole row of desks were free so when he chose the desk right next to me, my stomach fluttered.
I kept my eyes on my notepad, doodling on the front cover so as to avoid that eye contact with him again. I could see a cheeky glint in his eyes and I'd learnt from experience what that meant, trouble. I wasn't ready to get myself back into a situation like that again.
My eyes shot to the front as I heard the room erupt into wolf whistles, the girls at the front giggling and whispering to each other, I rolled my eyes at them, how embarrassing.
Then I realised what all the fuss was about and my heart almost stopped beating, thudding against my chest at an alarming rate. How is this even possible? How the fuck could he be a professor? Surely he's not old enough. Oh fuck.
I sank lower in my chair, willing the ground to just swallow me up or maybe if I got low enough I would escape his notice. No such luck, his eyes scanned the class and when they fell on mine, his face lit up with anger? No not anger. A hunger. His eyes scanned my body, falling over my hair and down to my cleavage. I felt hot under his gaze, was I blushing? Sweating? Oh god, I've never wished for class to be over so much in my life.
My professor was the guy I'd been shamelessly flirting with in the coffee shop. I don't understand how this could be real, I know I wanted to bump into him again but this is such a cruel twist of fate. I'd never even suspected him to be a professor, he was so damn thick and muscly. The clothes he wore were so stylish and he looked way too young to be a professor. He must be so embarrassed that he'd been flirting with a student, I definitely was embarrassed that I'd been flirting with a professor.
I was so panicked, I didn't have a clue what to do in this situation. Squirming in my seat, trying to look anywhere but at the Professor but I could feel his eyes on me as he prepared for the class to start. People were still whispering amongst themselves and I risked a glance in his direction, that made me bite on to my lip to stop myself from screeching. His eyes were still on me, subtly glancing up from the pile of paper he'd just taken out of his bag, his eyebrows furrowed as he studied me. He certainly didn't look embarrassed infact he looked downright feral and the thought of it made my pussy clench, so much so I had to cross my legs under the table.
"I guess you're obsessed with this new Professor too, huh?" The guy next to me leant across his desk to whisper and fuck me if I wasn't imagining it but he was Australian too. Like have we just suddenly had a huge delivery of hot Australian guys arrive at the University? This was just downright unfair, how was I meant to cope?
"No, what makes you say that?" Why did I ask that question? Like it wasn't obvious how much I was sweating and squirming in my seat. Luckily he didn't have time to answer when my eyes were drawn back to the professor as he stood at the front of the class with his hands casually in his pockets and cleared his throat to get our attention.
If I wasn't mistaken, now he looked angry, the muscles in his neck more prominent as he glared between me and the guy next to me.
Was he angry that my attention had been taken away from him and was on another guy? Or because we were talking when we should've been paying attention?
"Now I've got your attention, we're going to use our first session to get to know each other a little better. You'll be doing quite a lot of speeches so it's best if you feel comfortable with one another. I'll start by introducing myself." That sexy accent makes me sweat even more, nevermind the fact that his eyes keep finding their way back to me. "So, I'm Professor Hemsworth and I'm originally from Melbourne in Australia." His eyes meet mine again, a knowing look in them.
"G'day mate." Some idiot from the back shouted, making everyone laugh and I couldn't help but join in a little. Professor Hemsworth smiled at the joke, his eyes creasing in the corners and his smile growing wider when he looked to me and saw me giggling.
"Yeah, very original. Alright, alight, settle down now." His voice is so commanding and authoritive, it's such a turn on. "So, I haven't been here for very long and I'm still getting used to how different things are here. The weather for one." He earned a couple of laughs from people. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him, he was so mesmerizing. The way his face animated as he spoke, his eyebrows raising and lips curling.
"I was going to ask you all to go easy on me but that's not going to happen is it?" He got a couple of head shakes and sympathetic looks from the girls. "No, I thought not. Well now it's my turn to torture you. I'll start alphabetically, stand up and tell everyone something about yourself." I swallowed back my fear, this is the reason I'd put off this class until now and as if it wasn't hard enough talking in front of a whole class I now had to do it in front of Professor Hemsworth too.
"Claire Abbott." Fuck. He'd started, at least my name would be one of the last ones.
"Hi I'm Claire." The tall blonde at the front stood up, twirling her hair around her finger and giggling like a child. I rolled my eyes at her and caught the Professor smirk in my direction. "I erm… I don't know what to say?" She looks up at the Professor questioningly.
"Just anything about yourself that we might find interesting, the first thing that comes to mind." He replied.
"Well I own four horses and I'm the cheer captain." I rolled my eyes again, scoffing quietly and Professor Hemsworth had to hold in a laugh as he looked in my direction.
"Talk about predictable." The guy next to me leaned over to whisper to me again.
"Totally." I laughed back at him and when I looked back at the Professor he was glaring straight at us again, his face set sternly.
"You two at the back, we'll wait for you shall we?" Professor Hemsworth said sternly, everyone turned around to look at us but I barely noticed, I was too focused on the way his stern voice made my cunt flutter when he called me out.
I didn't speak for the rest of the class, although I had the urge to, just to hear the way his voice sounded when he was angry. I couldn't concentrate on what the other students were saying, too focused on watching the way the Professor's face changed everytime he looked my way, which was pretty often, to my suprise.
"Jake Hudson." In my peripheral, I saw the guy next to me stand and when he did, Professor Hemsworth's eyes narrowed.
"Hi I'm Jake." He pushed his hands in to his pockets cooly, glancing at me as he did. "I'm also from Australia." He looked at the professor slyly, a smirk forming on his lips, laughing at the other students shouting G'day mate. "I was forced to move here but I'm glad I did because I've just met the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." The class burst into rounds of whistles and cheers as Jake sat down, smiling at me cockily. I could feel my cheeks blushing, I was flattered, he was absolutely gorgeous but hadn't I sworn of boys my own age?
Professor Hemsworth looked even more angry now as he loosened his tie a little, that black tie that draws my view down, like a arrow pointing straight to his cock. I tried to keep my eyes down on my desk, doodling in my notebook so I could avoid that hungry gaze, anxiously waiting for my turn. What the hell was I going to say?
"Jessica Watson." Shit. I stood slowly, trying to give myself more time to think, I couldn't stand everyone's eyes being on me especially the Professors and Jakes.
"Hey, I'm Jessica." I smiled nervously, tucking my hair behind my ear. "These last couple of days have been pretty eventful for me." I looked away from the chalk board so I could search Professor Hemsworth's face. "I'm living the life of a romance novels heroine and I'm excited to see what the next couple of days bring." I sat down keeping the gaze of the professor, I'd forgotten I was in a room full of people until I heard the ooh's and ahh's and my cheeks turned scarlet. The Professor's eyes glowed with heat as he watched me sit down before shaking his head and turning back to the class. Jake also caught my eye as I sat back at my desk, my cheeks still burning, he smiled at me, the kind of smile that crinkles your eyes. I felt kind of bad that he probably thought I was talking about him when in fact I was talking about our professor.
"I hope we all feel a bit more comfortable with each other now, some of you shared some pretty revealing things." He looked at me again. "Some of you, not so much." He raised his eyebrows at a group of guys. "I'll have a schedule for you all next time I see you, anybody that has any questions can see me after class, everyone else is free to leave." His eyes scanned me as he turned around to sit at his desk, I watched a couple of girls approach him predictably.
"Are you going to the party at our frat this weekend?" I had to reluctantly pull my eyes away from the Professor while Jake spoke, so he was a Alpha Kappa, not surprising really.
"Yeah, I think so. My roommate mentioned it."
"Oh good, I'll see you there then. Jessica." He smiled, standing from his seat.
"Jess." I corrected him. I hated being called Jessica, it was so formal.
"Well Jess, I'll see you around." He winked at me as he pulled his backpack on to his shoulder.
There were still a couple of girls taking up the Professor's attention and I wasn't sure yet whether I wanted to sneak past or wait to speak to him. I thought about it for a minute my fingertips drumming against my desk when the girls left and he was alone. As soon as the door closed, his gaze was on me and I could hear the silence in the room like a ringing in my ears. We stayed like that for a couple of seconds, staring at each other, no one saying a word until her cleared his throat. I blinked a couple of times, realising how stupid I must look before getting up from my seat and packing my things away.
"Did you need to talk Miss Watson?" I could hear amusement in his voice as he sat back on his desk casually, his arms folded across his chest.
"I erm…" I walked towards him, my legs feeling like jelly all of sudden and trying not to fall down the stairs. "I wanted to apologise, I had no idea you were a Professor." I said as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I didn't know what to do with myself but I was nervous about getting closer to him. He made the atmosphere feel tense, like if I was to reach out and touch him I would burn my fingers so I stood awkwardly at the bottom of the steps.
"There's no need to apologise Miss Watson, I also had no idea you were a student but I was hoping to bump into you again. Funny how things work out isn't it?" He cocked his eyebrow at me, still looking amused as he watched me squirm. When he said he'd been hoping to bump into me again it made me feel more confident, like I wasn't imagining the way he'd been looking at me for the last hour.
"I think fate can be rather cruel Professor Hemsworth." I smiled at him as I finally closed the distance between us, watching his eyes flare with hunger when I called him Professor.
"Oh really? Why is that Miss Watson?" His eyes narrowed, his Adams apple bobbing in his throat as I got close enough to touch him, I didn't though. I didn't dare break that boundary, not yet.
I smiled at him through my lashes, biting on to my lip. "I was hoping to bump into you again too, only now the thought of what could've happened will have to remain a fantasy." Wow! I was not expecting that, did I sound like a slut? Shit. I looked back up at him and caught him gulp, that hunger in his eyes shining, his pupils blown with lust, he loosened his tie even more and I caught a glimpse of his smooth chest and chickened out. The tension was way too much and I was about to do something I was going to regret, I could live with being a huge tease instead.
"I better get to my next class, we can't have anyone thinking I'm your favourite now can we?" I smiled to myself when I noticed the muscles in his jaw tense as he ground his teeth together. Turning to leave I looked back over my shoulder and his eyes were glued to my hips, watching them sway as I walked and I realised I had him exactly where I wanted him but was it worth the risk?

Heyo! May I have Eragon's reaction to reader saying "I've loved you from the very start! I love you, but you don't love me! So why am I even confessing?" because I love drama and I do need a lot of fluff rn.
“The Many Questions And A Confession” Eragon x Modern!Reader
(A/N: How about a continuation to the one Modern!Reader slipping and telling Eragon how they know about him telling Arya about his true name?? I shall give the drama this day. It shall be a journey towards the fluff. Looks like this turned into an insert reader type deal. Needs a title now? Oops?
Drama time! Because Reader is really frustrated with Eragon in this one. Woo! How’s Eragon handle it? Spoiler: He doesn’t stop talking.
Continuation of this one: https://where-dreamers-go.tumblr.com/post/647030131496534016/if-modernreader-has-read-the-books-and-knows
Warnings: Angst! Fluff. Mild language.
Word Count: 1,703 words)
Hiding in your room’s bathroom, you remained silent. It was not so much that Eragon could not find you, it was that you did not want to be seen at least. So what if you had locked doors and were sitting in a dry tub? The worst that could happen would be if he decided to invade your mind.
“(Y/N)?” Eragon’s voice echoed throughout the chamber as the door to your room opened.
Of course he opened it. At least I didn’t barricade it, you thought. Can’t have thirty seconds to myself.
“Are you going to talk to me?” He asked quietly from the other side of the bathroom door. Apparently locating you was not an issue.
You narrowed your eyes at the door as you sunk further into the empty tub.
A barely audible sigh reached your ears.
“I’m not angry with you for knowing,” he said. “I just don’t understand why you’re running off.”
You glanced up to the ceiling. Did you forget your last guess?
“Then…you do have feelings for me?” Eragon asked. “Or you think I’m foolish for having feelings for Arya.” His voice softened, more speaking to himself than asking you another question.
You sighed and muttered, “Not so much that your feelings were foolish….just some of your actions.”
“You still haven’t answered my questions.”
“Because…wait for it….I don’t have to.”
“(Y/N),” Eragon’s tone lowered. “You’ve been avoiding me for weeks and it could not be for you knowing what I’ve done. If that were true…then you would have avoided me much sooner.”
“Brave of you to assume that I wasn’t avoiding you then.”
“We spoke more often then.”
“You asked me at least twenty questions a day. It’s hard to avoid that kind of persistence.” Kind of like now.
“Then why didn’t you?”
“Because I had just met you! I’m not trying to hurt your feelings. I would never do that.”
“So please stop avoiding me. I promise to be less foolish if that will help.”
“It won’t.”
“Why not?”
“Stop asking so many darn questions.”
“No. Just tell me.”
“No.”
“Why—?”
“I’ve loved you from the very start! I love you, but you don’t love me! So why am I even confessing?” You threw your hands out in a wide gesture. “Why do I bother? What does it even matter? …why am I even still talking?” You huffed. “Are we finished now?”
Silence.
You heard nothing else. Nothing in the bathroom you were hiding in nor anything out in the bedroom.
He has to be still out there. You thought. But I swear to all that is good, if he so much as tries to enter my mind, I will loose it. I’ll probably scream, cry, or…whatever. You crossed your arms and tried to ignore the uncomfortable position you were in. Physically, emotionally, and mentally.
The lock on the door clicked and the door opened. Walking in with an unreadable expression, Eragon made his way to you.
“No.” You said shortly, but he made no move of stopping. “What are you—?”
Eragon stepped into the dry tub.
“What are you doing?” You sat up straight as he sat down in front of you.
Settling in, Eragon folded his hands in his lap.
You shook your head at him.
What in the world? If someone thought he couldn’t get stranger…he did.
“What the blazes are you doing?” You asked, too bewildered to kick him as the opportunity was brought up in your mind.
“I’m sitting.”
You rolled your eyes so far that you were staring at the ceiling. If there was one place you did not want to look, it was straight ahead.
Wanting to hit someone upside the head and still wanting to kiss their face can not be good right now, you thought.
“Why are you even in here?” You asked through clenched teeth.
“You have been avoiding me and I haven’t seen you,” Eragon said simply before his voice softened. “I’ve missed you.”
Keeping your gaze up or up to the side, you avoided eye contact.
“Can we skip to the part where you say ‘I’m sorry, but you’re right, I don’t feel the same way about you’?” You asked. “Not going to lie…right now…you’re kind of making this worse.”
“I’m sorry.” His voice was a murmur that tore through your heart.
“Alright.” Finally tearing your sights away from the ceiling, you hoisted yourself up and out of the tub.
“Where—I wasn’t finished.”
“Save your pity. I want to be alone.” You walked out of the bathroom and headed straight for your bed. There was an extremely low probability that he would follow you there too. Some lines weren’t crossed.
“I know you want to be alone.” Eragon was trailing after you.
I’m going to die from being not surprised, you thought of a quote.
“Please let me speak.”
“You’ve been speaking this whole time.” You yanked off your shoes. “What possibly could you have to say now?”
“I never said that I still loved Arya.”
You paused for a moment before saying, “Well…you don’t really need to. I’d be really surprised if you didn’t.” Tossing a pillow towards the middle of the bed, you kept your back to him.
“I don’t love her.”
Face scrunched up in confusion, you took a glance over your shoulder.
“Bull crap.”
His eyebrows pulled together. “I don’t understand.”
“I’m calling you out for lying.” You explained and crossed your arms under your chest.
“I’m not lying.” A smile slowly spread across the Rider’s face.
You rose your eyebrows, challenging him.
“Sure. And what changed your strong feelings for Arya? Cold soup?”
“You.”
“What?” The word hardly reached your own ears.
Eragon walked up to you, albeit cautiously, with a full smile on his lips. His brown eyes were lit with a happiness you were not comprehending.
“What are you talking about?” You whispered. “Why are you smiling like that?”
A chuckle rang out into the room as he stopped to stand in front of you. “How am I suppose to keep a stoic face after you confessed that you love me?” His smile only stayed on his lips when he did not receive any verbal response from you, locked into his happy moment. “I know you would never lie about your feelings. Not something as strong as love.”
You watched on, cautious.
What is he trying to say, that he likes the idea of me loving him? Uh. Is this normal? You thought.
“Perhaps I should have stated my feelings for you much earlier. Clearly you have been worn down with your heart and for that I apologize.”
“Feelings?”
“Yes,” he wet his lips briefly and straightened his posture. “I do care for you deeply, (Y/N). My feelings were already growing before I even recognized them.” His smile turned sheepish, but he persisted onwards. “I didn’t think I could have those feelings for anyone else, but….it’s different somehow. I’m not sure how to explain it. I feel better when I’m around you. We’re honest with each other and you’ve taught me so much already. I’ll make this as much like home as I can for you. I really want you in my life.”
It took a moment before you breathed in a small breath.
You knew that you were probably looking at him as if he had lost his ever-loving mind. Who could blame you at that point? You were in a completely different world. And one you knew of, mind you. It was bound time for a round of unpredictability.
Eyes the color of enriched soil underneath the blooming flowers in light of a summer sky watched you with surging hope.
Were you hallucinating? Lucid dreaming? No, you couldn’t be. There were far too many moments that would have had a timeskip or objects from back home. The only way you would have this much time with Eragon would be if it was real.
He’s serious? He’s serious.
Your chest tightened and somewhere inside all of your tension released. In its place there was a warmth that brought tears to your eyes.
Frustration rapidly melting away, you carefully turned to sit on the edge of the bed to compose yourself.
“Are you alright?” Eragon asked, kneeling down to look upon your face.
“I’m…,” you swallowed. “I’m still processing what you said.”
“Processing?”
“Just…uh… Can you give me a second?” You waved a gentle hand in his direction.
“Take as much time as you need,” Eragon said as he delicately took your hand in his own.
You internally groaned at how sweet he was even after you verbally rampaged him about leaving you alone.
Seeing as you did not retract your hand, the Rider held your hand against his chest. The position allowed you the rare opportunity to feel his heartbeat. A rapid beating of his heart as he awaited any sort of verbal response from you. Anything that would tell him if he should indeed pursue the strong feelings he had.
You snuck a peek at his face; clear of any imperfections of the sun and brown eyes lit up in hope.
“You’ve been interested in me this whole time?” You asked. “And I didn’t know it?”
After reviewing your choice in words, Eragon nodded.
“What the actually hell?” You laughed. “You develop feelings quick, sir.”
A lopsided smile appeared on his face. Your light teasing of his actions always did surprise him in the most satisfying ways.
“You’re not upset with me?” He asked. “About earlier.”
“A little.”
His smile dropped a fraction.
“But I’ll find it in myself to forgive you.” You smirked.
“Then I should be grateful.” Eragon held his head high. “I would rather face your affections than your wrath.”
“Alright,” you rolled your eyes. “That was smooth, but cutting it close.” You tugged on his hands. “Get over here.”
Before Eragon could stand, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders in a tight embrace.
“You’re a bit of an odd one, you know that?”
Eragon nudged his head against your own. “I will gladly be odd if it means I can be with you.”

Meg's Game of Tales: Tale
Tumblr media
*familiar characters are NOT mine! Original Story of "Snow White" belongs to the Brothers Grimm!*
Warnings: Again, Darker tale!(The next one will be a bit lighter) Huntsman POV! Talk of murder and blood. There will be a second part after I finish all the tales!
Pairings: Huntsman!Ramsay Bolton x princess!reader
Jealousy was a funny thing. That was what was going through Ramsay's mind as he stood before this queen. She was a beauty, no doubt, but there was something twisted in her soul. Something mangled and decaying. Worse, he thought, than even himself. Still, gold was gold and life was life. She was offering him both for the job she was asking him to do.
It wasn't that Ramsay wanted to be a huntsman. Of course not. He had much loftier ambitions. However, first, he had to prove himself to his father. Besides that was the fact that he couldn't deny that he loved the hunt. The chase. It exhilarated him. It sent pleasant shivers through his entire being.
"Are we clear, Huntsman?" the queen asked, snapping Ramsay back to reality. He nodded once. "Yes. Yes. Take the princess out. Kill her. End of story." Ramsay turned to leave, but was stopped once more by the queen's voice. "Wait. To be sure you do not fail me, I want you to bring me her heart. In this." She had a guard hand over an ornately decorated box. Ramsay glanced down at the box and then back up to the queen. Oh yes, this woman was deranged. Even by Ramsay's standards. With another nod, Ramsay took his leave and went in search of you.
Finding you was easy enough. You'd been allowed out the castle from your daily duties long enough to pick some fresh wild flowers. Ramsay approached slowly as his mind searched for the best way to handle this. Should he go in and get it over with immediately? Or should he make it into a game? Once more, his thoughts were interrupted by another person's voice.
"Oh, hello. I've never seen you around the castle before." Innocent eyes looked up at him. That was all it took for Ramsay to understand why the queen was so jealous. Her beauty could never compare to yours. While her soul was twisted, yours seemed untouched. Your entire being screamed of naiveté and mischief while hers exploded with evil. It was that moment, that Ramsay's eyes met yours, that he knew he was going to draw this game out as long as possible.
With a charming smile, Ramsay bowed his head. "Princess," he greeted. "You know me?" Ramsay laughed and nodded. "Of course. The entire kingdom has heard tales of your beauty. And your kindness." You bit your lip as you glanced down at the ground. "T-Thank you, kind sir," you replied before looking back up at him again and continuing, "Is there something I can do for you? What brings you to the castle?"
"I've taken over for the old butcher. He is unwell. Old. I am the new supplier of meat for the castle," he answered, the lying escaping his mouth with ease, "And perhaps, you could be so kind as to show me the land? I haven't had time to explore it, I'm afraid." Your face lit up at the thought of exploration. "Of course. Shall we?" You held your bouquet of freshly picked flowers in one hand, while reaching out with your other to loop your arm through his.
Ramsay hardly listened to your idle chatter as you lead him through the castle grounds. It wasn't until you reached the border of the forest that you stopped. "Are you afraid, Princess?" You shook your head hesitantly. Ramsay grinned. "Perfect." He pulled his knife from his belt and held it against your cheek. He prided himself on quick and stealthy movements so you had absolutely no time to react or run. His other hand was wrapped around your arm, preventing you from running anyway.
You gazed up at him, your wide eyes full of tears. Even through your innocence, you knew what was happening. Ramsay watched a stray tear roll down your cheek and onto his blade with sickening satisfaction. "She sent you to kill me," you whispered. Ramsay's grin broadened. "Very good, Princess. However, this was far too easy. No fun in it at all. So, I'll make you a deal. Run away. Deep into the forest. I'll find a way to appease the queen for now to give you a few days. But then, I will come looking for you."
Your chin began to quiver as your whole body stiffened. "Why?" you squeaked out. Ramsay leaned closer and whispered in your ear. "It's a game and games should always be fun. But remember this: No matter how far you run, how well you hide, I am Ramsay Bolton and I will ALWAYS find you. Now go." Ramsay released your arm and practically shoved you into the forest.
You didn't wait a second longer before turned on your heel and racing into the thick trees of the forest. Ramsay picked up the bouquet you had dropped. He brought the flowers to his nose and sniffed then glanced back in the direction you ran with a devious smirk on his lips. "I will always find you," he whispered. Now, he had to see the queen.
"She got away?! I was informed that you were the best. How could you let her escape your grasp?!" the queen raged. Ramsay had to fight to remain calm. There were too many guards for him to lose his temper on the queen. "Never you worry, Your Majesty. If the wilderness doesn't kill her, I will find her. Before the end of winter, the snow will be stained with her blood. I assure you." The queen didn't look happy, but she agreed, just as Ramsay knew she would. With that, Ramsay left the throne room eager to start his little game.
(a/n: The Fowler's Fowl AU was originally supposed to be posted first, but this one hit my brain and wouldn't leave. As I said there will be a second part and the next tale should be a little more light-hearted!)

Aquarium Date Fic !! Kagehina, but kag!asd. Kageyama pov. 2k words, oneshot. Tw : Sensory Overload! (it's present throughout the whole fic) Made partially for @spixi and partially so i could prove to myself that i can If there's a typo no there isnt <3 If you are an IRL this post doesn't exist <3
I typed out my message and pressed send, throwing my phone onto my bed.
Maybe I should go grab a snack or something... I think to myself, when I suddenly hear my phone buzzing against my pillow, and I dive to grab it. He replied to my message. That was fast.
Me : Hey we should go to the aquarium tomorrow.
Hinata : Okay :D sounds good 2 me!
Quickly, with my face quickly going beet red, I drop my phone and go to the kitchen to grab something to stuff my face with. I'm shaking, but as long as I walk quietly, I doubt my family will notice I'm even out of my room.
How should I reply? A thumbs up might be good, but it might be too cold. Any other reply is probably too much... Whatever. I'll go with the thumbs up.
I head back into my room and pick up my phone, typing a thumbs up emoji before covering my face again.
F/ck, I need to come up with something to wear, don't I..?
---
I arrive at the train station, feeling like I probably packed too much. I brought a backpack with an extra phone battery, 2 charging cables, (because Hinata has an apple phone,) and a bunch of snacks, as well as a water bottle.
Did I put on deodorant today??? I can't tell... If so, I'm probably already sweating through it. I start to feel sick to my stomach, but I don't have time to finish that thought when I spot Hinata walking in from a distance. He seems to be wearing basketball shorts and a t-shirt, and suddenly I feel overdressed in my jeans.
"Hey! Don't worry, I already bought my train ticket. You ready to go?" He asked while walking up to me. He didn't bring as much as a backpack, and I'm suddenly relieved that I brought so much.
"Yeah. It's coming in 2 minutes. I half expected you to be late." I stated, before realizing what I said. Sh/t! That was rude, wasn't it? I have to be nicer. Ugh. Hinata punctures my worries with a laugh.
"I'm not late that often, am I?" He states. This makes me feel a little worse about my comment.
"Hm. Just often enough." I state, carefully picking my words. I can't backtrack now, but I can try to redirect my speech to seem less biting.
"You only say I'm late because of last time!" He keeps laughing, keeping the mood light. I wish I could speak as easily as him.
"And possibly the time before that?" I reply. This is probably what he wants me to say.
"Shhhhh. What matters is I got here on time AND I have my ticket ready. Don't worry, I also brought enough for the aquarium ticket too!" He states, smiling. His smile is adorable, almost cute enough to distract me from what he just said.
"Oh, I was planning on paying for that." I reply without thinking.
"Ehh? Do you owe me or something? Should I be asking you for money?"
"No, no. I just thought...?" I'm really confused now. I was the one who asked HIM out, right? He knows how these things usually go, right? Maybe he just doesn't know...
"By the way, where are the others? I thought they would have arrived by now."
The... others? What others? The team??? This is a date, right? Wait...
I DIDN'T TELL HIM. I DIDN'T TELL HIM THAT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DATE. F/CK.
"I didn't invite them." I respond, my subconscious taking care of what my brain is trying to catch up to.
"You really find them that annoying? I know Tsukki and Yamaguchi can be a bit much sometimes but...?" Confusion flashes across Hinata's face.
"I just wanted to hang out with you. Is that a crime?" I answered before my brain could filter out that last comment. It would be useful in getting him to stop pushing, but it's far too rude for a date. Not that Hinata knows that last part anyway. I wish I could take my words back.
"You should be honored that I said yes in the first place." Hinata teases, my face turning red.
If only he knew what he said yes to.
---
Hinata and I managed to keep from fighting on the 30 minute train ride, which was a feat in and of itself.
I can't ruin this date.
"Hey, Kageyama? It looks like there is a student discount, and it also seems like there is a discount for groups. What do you think would be cheaper?" Hinata elbowed me, bringing me back into focus. I look up. He and I are both equally sh/t at math.
"Uh... Let's do the group discount? I'll pay for it. You can pay me back later." As if I'd let him do that. Hinata bought my excuse though.
"Okay! I can buy you lunch or something." He quickly walked up to the desk, and I followed him. "Can we have 2 tickets?"
Wait. Wasn't I supposed to buy them? If I was the one paying, aren't I supposed to ask? Is Hinata planning on paying???
"Oh, sorry, He'll be paying!" Hinata stated, gesturing towards me.
"Yes. Here's the cash." I quickly press down the bills that were almost getting damp from stress. I had already looked online at ticket prices, and made sure to set aside the perfect amount of money for two tickets in my pockets.
"Great! Let's head inside!" Hinata grabs the tickets, holding mine for me. We go up to the metal detector and I get my bag checked. Hinata, possibly because he has my ticket, or possibly out of kindness, waits for me.
"Can you hand me my ticket real quick?" I ask, throwing my bag back onto my shoulder.
"Sure, let's go in." We walk into the main lobby area, waiting to get our tickets checked. The aquarium is beautiful, and oh so huge. The high ceilings, and smell of saltwater, the giant whale sculpture that I can only assume is life size, and the concrete flooring, these things that on a glance are grand, start to give me a pit in my stomach.
"Kageyama! Come on!"
I look at the horizon line, and recenter myself. A quick yet deep breath and I'm ready to go. I walk up, and turn in my ticket in order to get a wristband.
"Kageyama?" Hinata states, causing me to look over at him. "Can you help me put this on? I can never do it by myself." He holds up the paper slip.
"Yeah, sure." I say without thinking. I wrap it around his wrist.
"Hey, make sure not to make it too tight. They are a pain to get off if you don't give them enough breathing room." I nod my head, and make sure to give him a gap.
"There you go." I let go of his arm, realizing just then how warm my hand is. I can feel my face getting warm too.
"Okay, let me do you now." He quickly fits the bracelet to my arm. "It's perfect! Let's go inside. I wanna see this penguin exhibit that I've been hearing so much about. I keep seeing ads for it and I've wanted to see it forever-"
Hinata kept talking. I don't think he ever stopped talking. It's nice though. It makes it easier to not focus on the huge building, or the shifting lighting, or the crowds, or the ambient music that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Yup. I'm not focusing on any of that. Not. At. All.
My feet keep walking, despite my worrying. Hinata eventually slows, stopping before the largest piece of glass I've ever seen in my entire life. A giant tank filled with fish. The glass is taller than my house, longer than 3 busses, and blue and endless enough to make my heart stop in my chest.
F/ck.
Hinata turns around, and finds a bench to sit on, patting the seat next to him, while staring into the blue void. You feel like you have to bow down to its majesty. It is terrifyingly blue, terrifyingly enormous. I have never feared the ocean before, but I fear it in this very moment. A spotted whale shark swims past, paying no attention to the many people standing right against the glass.
"I could sit here forever." Hinata practically whispers. The giant tank orders your complete and utter silence. Even amongst a giant crowd, even with the littlest of children, everyone is quiet. The large speakers playing calming bass tones over the crowd of people, barely vibrating the floor.
"Hm. Me too." I reply. I could sit here forever, I feel like I already have sat here for infinity. Like its presence is something I could never escape. The pit in my stomach grows further. I break eye contact with the tank, reaching in my backpack. The zipper can barely be heard over the ambient noise of people shuffling. Was there always that sound? I bend down to look in my backpack. What was I going to get?
"Do you want a snack? I brought some granola bars." I state as I feel Hinata's eyes looking down at me.
"Actually, that sounds really good right now. I was just thinking about food." He states, bringing his head down to meet mine. I rustle around in my bag, and grab out a bar. It is barely bent. Passing it to him over my shoulder, he grabs it and unwraps it, sitting on the bench with his legs crossed.
"Sooo, what exhibit did you want to see?" He asks, taking a bite after.
"What do you mean?" I reply, choking down the pit in my stomach.
"Like... you invited me out here. So, what was it that you wanted to see?" He takes another bite.
"Uh. I just like fish, I guess." I look over at the tank, trying to avoid his gaze. I doubt he'll buy it, but it doesn't really matter.
"Me too! Let's go into the jellyfish room next? I can see the entrance to the penguins here and it looks packed. Explains why it's so much emptier here." He set his feet back on the ground and stood up, waiting for me to join him.
I leaned back down to zip up my bag, and we walked through a doorway into a smaller, darker room. Blacklights lit up the moon jellies as they calmly glided across the tank. Hinata seemed to drift off, but I didn't mind. It would probably be a good idea to be apart for a bit. I could calm down and collect myself quickly.
I walk up to the tiny seahorse exhibit, and look into the tank. I can't see them at all... I thought, when suddenly, I felt my forehead bump up against the glass.
How did I get close enough to bump up against it?
I go to look for a wall to lean up against. Leaning against something should help keep the pit down. I do a quick glance around the room. There are no walls. Only glass, and only fish. I hate fish.
Taking yet another deep and quick breath, I go back to meet up with Hinata. He was looking at a different kind of seahorse.
"Okay, I think I'm ready to go to the next section now." Hinata said, glancing away from the fish and over to the exit door. I nodded, and lightened up the scowl that was forming on my face. I didn't even notice it was happening until I felt my eyebrows aching from the effort. I just hope he didn’t notice.
The exit of the jellyfish room led to a balcony overlooking a lower floor. This must be the back of the aquarium. Below us there seemed to be a small cafe overlooking the sea.
"Here, let's go get some food! I can pay you back for the ticket that way." Hinata pulled my arm over to the down escalator. I step on right after him, and look down at the cafe.
It was very large, and honestly reminded me more of a cafeteria than a cafe, with lots of seating. After we reach the end of the escalator, he walked over to stand in line and stare at the menu. Looking for a good seat, I grab one right by the large window facing the water and set down my bag. I pull out the small amounts of snacks I've already brought to claim the seat and go over to Hinata.
"Hey, so I'm thinking about getting a sandwich. What do you want?" He stood, facing the menu.
"Honestly, just get me whatever you think I'd like." I state. I can't focus on the menu right now; I just don't have the energy to.
"Hmmm... Okay!" Hinata walks up to the register, while I go back to our seats. I'll probably regret that choice very soon, but I have backup food anyways, and I'm sure he'll eat whatever I don't, so it's not like the food will be wasted.
---
What the hell did he order??
I look at my plate, not quite understanding what the dish is even supposed to be.
"You said to get you whatever." He said with a smile, taking a bite of his sandwich right after.
"Whatever I might LIKE. What even is this?" I poked my dish with a spork, and it seemed to swallow it whole.
"No idea. I just pointed at the dish in the buffet." He shrugged. "I thought it might be funny, but it's less funny than I hoped. I expected more of a reaction." He looked up with the last sentence, making eye contact with me, which I broke a moment after.
"Sorry."
"Sorry? What are you saying sorry for? Since when did you say sorry anyways?" There was slight worry behind his voice, though it was hard to tell through his wide grin. To avoid answering, I quickly shove the food in my face. It's not great, but it's not really all that bad either. It's a little cold from sitting out.
"It's.... good." I say with a stuffed face. This causes him to start laughing again.
"You look super angry! That's the sort of reaction I was expecting." When did I even start scowling again? When I took a bite of the food, probably.
"You try it." I say, stealing a chip from his bag.
"I was the one who bought it anyway. I was half expecting you to make me eat it." Am I really that predictable? He took a bite, and made a variety of expressions, before settling on confusion.
"I wouldn't call it good. Maybe okay? It's definitely at least okay." He nodded to himself, taking a sip of water after.
"So, where to after this?" I ask.
---
We ended up on the train home while the sun was setting. It's almost to our stop. It felt so short, but we ended up hanging out for 5 hours. I almost forgot that I wanted it to be a date. I had to give up on that a while ago.
"Hey, we have to get off soon, get ready." I say, tapping his knee.
"Hm? Oh." He wakes up, blinking a few times and leaning forwards in his seat. He glances out the window.
The train stops, and we walk off onto the station platform.
"See you at practice tomorrow!" He says with a large smile, walking backwards towards the exit.
"See you." I reply, gripping the shoulder straps of my bag. I looked down
"I had a nice time on our date!" and with the last word, he turned around, running out of the station.
My head immediately turned upwards to where he was, as I feel my blood starting to rush to my face.
He... HE KNEW?!?

"What?"
Fuck.
Fuck, she hadn't meant to say that out loud. (Y/N) didn't know what came over her to blurt the words out. Hell, she didn't even know if she meant them. It was only two weeks ago that she realized that maybe there was more to their relationship than fucking. Then again, her feelings were probably there for a long time and she just couldn't accept them.
It was easier to push people away than it was to be hurt by them. Pushing Tim away was so easy for so long. It was easy to say that any feeling she had for him was simply just lust. They're long chats were always supposed to be 'just business' but the more she thought make, the more she realized they weren't.
They were about family, hardships, dreams, aspirations. Their chats were filled with so much knowledge of one another that she forgot that everything she knew about him wasn't just common to everyone. Tim opened up to her more than he did to anyone else - including Bruce, or Kon, or even Steph.
"Fuck," She muttered. (Y/N) pulled herself off of Tim, ignoring the sticky layer that covered them both from just having sex. She pulled a shirt of hers over her head and aimlessly searched the floor for some pants. Tim was still in shock by what she had just said to him. She loved him?
The same kind of love that he had in his heart every time he thought of her? The same love that kept him up at night wondering, hoping, that one day it would be reciprocated?
He finally snapped out of his daze and stopped her frantic movements. Tim gripped her biceps, forcing her to look at him. Her eyes were glossy as she tried to hold herself together from this utterly embarrassing moment. How could she say something like that too him at a time like this?
Tim's jaw was tight as he thought. She couldn't guess what was going on inside that head of his. Judging her. Trying to figure out a way to let her down easy. Ways to escape and never see her again. Maybe he was wondering how she was stupid enough to fall in love with her fuck buddy.
Fear of losing him - not the same kind of fear that she felt only an hour ago. This loss would hurt far worse. Knowing that he was within arms reach and never being able to grasp him again. Fuck, that hurt more than any other loss she could bare with him.
She was shocked when he harshly crashed his lips against hers. He was so rushed that their teeth and noses clanked together - something that never happened with them. They were always so perfectly in sync, knowing the movement of the other person before they even did it.
Tim pulled away as she never reciprocated the kiss. Truth was, she was far too surprised to even move. She expected harsh words and abandonment. Even after all his promises, she still found it hard to believe that he would keep them true. Not because she didn't trust him, but because she knew herself, and that people tended not to stick around.
He slid his hands up her arms until they cupped the base of her neck, thumbs against her jawline. For the second time that day, he wiped the tears that spilled down her cheeks. While before she was scared that he had left her, now she was petrified he would leave her for good.
"I love you, (Y/N) (L/N)," Tim confessed. His voice was barely above a whisper but it was clear as ever. Her bottom lip trembled at the sudden change of emotions whirling. She went from frightened to complete adoration. Tim loved her. She felt her heart swell with every feeling she had been bottling up.
She broke out into the biggest, happiest smile he had ever seen her give. Tim Drake wasn't the man that she thought she needed in her life, but he was the one that she was sure as hell lucky enough to have. He built her up without giving her false hope and was there for her when she couldn't achieve something herself.
Tim tilted her chin up. He brushed his lips against hers, testing to see if this was what she truly wanted. This wasn't a game or a joke, this was his heart on the line. As much as he trusted her, the sinking feeling of weariness and doubt always struck in the back of his mind. He couldn't get his heartbroken again, not by her.
She found herself reaching towards him as he pulled back. She didn't crave his lips, she need them. His kiss was soft at first, until the intensity of all their feelings finally exploded. She held onto him like he was the only thing keeping her from collapsing in the whirlwind they were caught in.
"I love you, Tim," She never wanted this kiss to end. Being in his arms, filled with the love she never thought she'd feel again, it was life changing. Tim pulled her back again, unable to stop. His need for her kiss was greater than anything, more powerful than the sun. He needed her like he needed air.
"Why now?" Tim blurted out. After all these years, why was now the time that she finally admitted that she had feelings for him? What had caused this shift? (Y/N) sighed as Tim dropped his arms. She ran a hand down her face and sat on the edge of her bed. Tim grabbed his pants from the floor and tossed over hers before joining.
"A month ago you told me that we've been doing this for years and that ruining it by letting emotions take place was unacceptable," Tim thought back to that night. She was so head strung about not attending his gala. "What could have possible changed over a single month?"
"Everything," she looked over at him. Truth was, she couldn't pin point the exact moment of change. She didn't know when she truly cared for him as more than a companion - but she knew when she realized it. The day of that stupid gala. The stupid gala that led to their picture being everywhere and hearing him say that she was nothing in his life.
Feeling that hurt made her realize how important he was to her.
"You're the only person that's always been here for me, Tim," she played with her fingers, trying to calm her nerves. It didn't work. "My parents, my company struggles, self-doubt. Every time I'm on the verge of giving up, it's you that's there to help me back up. You've supported me for so long and... and I was never able to give that to you.
"I'm sorry, for being so cut off for so long. I'm sorry that for the entire time that I've known you that I've been so held back by fear that I wasn't able to realize what you mean to me. You deserve better, you deserve the world. Everything changed when I saw the way you lit up because I went to your gala after four years. I didn't realize how much it meant to you.
"I'm sorry that-"
"Stop," Tim cut her off. He grabbed her hand to stop her from fidgeting. "Stop apologizing. I know why you were the way you were, and I'm not upset at it. I understand the struggle of not being taken seriously and I don't want you feeling guilty over something like this. I had my part to play as well - I could have told you long ago how I felt and I never had the guts to."
"How long?" she asked, suddenly curious. She might not have been able to remember the time she looked as him as more a fuck buddy - but he might have. Maybe his answer would have sparked her own memory.
"Two years ago," he chuckled to himself. His cheeks were tinted pink with embarrassment at just how long he had been keeping this to himself. "The night that you told me your favourite memory with your parents. Seeing your face light up with pure happiness and the way you spoke of them so highly. It reminded me of my own parents - and how much they would have liked you."
"We ordered Chinese food and stayed up till four in the morning talking about how easy life was when we were kids," she remembered that night. Tim nodded - it was the first time that she had stayed for hours. "I got scared by a bird hitting the window and dropped my entire plate of noodles on myself. You laughed so hard that you started snorting."
"It was the first time I got to see you wear my clothes," Tim smiled. He didn't realize how hot she could wear one of his shirts and a rolled up pair of basketball shorts. "After you left I couldn't sleep. I couldn't stop seeing your smile or hearing your laugh. I realized in those endless hours of staring at my ceiling that I wanted to spend my life with you."
"Why didn't you say anything?" She asked.
"You never wanted anyone to know what we did - much less if there was anything more between us," Tim shrugged. To be honest, he still didn't. "I didn't want you to feel pressured and I certainly didn't want to risk losing you. The wait was worth it."
She smiled at how lucky she was to have Tim. He was so patient with her that she felt like she didn't deserve someone as good-hearted as him. Tim kissed the back of her hand, followed by her forehead, and lastly, her lips. The wait was well worth it. He'd wait a thousand lifetimes for her.
"What now?" He asked. What was going to happen between the both of them? A hidden relationship? A risk that Gotham would spread hate because the CEO's of rival companies loved each other? Things were complicated in their lives, and he wasn't sure what she was willing to put on the line.
"Now... Now I stop living my life in fear."
><
"We don't have to do this."
(Y/N) paced back and forth trying to calm her nerves. Tim sat on the edge of his bed watching her movements. She was nervous, but that was to be given. After years of working hard to make sure that she was going to be taken seriously, she was just going to tear it all down. Today was going to be the make or break of Gotham's faith in her.
It was a simple plan. Go to a coffee shop together, let the paparazzi's take their pictures, see what the media was going to say. It was the best way to dip their toes in the water to see what the people of Gotham would think of their 'new relationship'. There had already been speculations since the gala - this would just confirm some of them.
She was scared. Horrified. Not because the people would react badly, but if they reacted well to the news. For over four years she felt as if she needed to cut herself off from anything personal - these were the best years of her life and she had put all of her energy into her company because she felt like it was needed.
What if it wasn't? What if she had wasted all these years for some bullshit stigma the city made her believe? She didn't know if she could live with that guilt. Her parents wanted her to experience her best life, she would have let them down if she had deprived herself of love for years.
"Yes we do," She stopped her pacing to look at him. The cuts and bruises on his face had finally healed over, but the ones lacing his body still held him back. Tim still refused to tell her what really happened. "I've been lying to myself for too long about these feelings, I can't lie to the public anymore too."
Tim patted the spot beside him. She reluctantly sat, though her leg wouldn't stop bouncing. He grabbed her hand and brought it up to his lips before setting them back down on his lap. (Y/N) had every right to be nervous. This wasn't just her own life on the line, it was her company's - and his.
Just as she was worried for her own company, Tim was nervous for his. Bruce entrusted him to keep it going, and he couldn't let him down. They needed that money to fund their activities, they needed Wayne Enterprise to keep at it's highest potential.
"Whatever happens, we're in this together, okay?" Tim assured her. "I'm not going to leave you. I promised you that already and I'm sticking with it. Vicki Vale can say all she wants, she doesn't know the truth unless we want her to know the truth. We've got a plan, right? Start off easy and go from there."
"You're right," she nodded. They were in control of this situation, no one else. With Tim by her side, she could accomplish anything. When she was with him, she always felt in control of her life. He had a way of making her feel confident in herself without even realizing it. "We can do this."
She looked over at him, the nervous smile still on her face. It melted away with his kiss. His kiss that always made everything better, that always felt so right. Being with him, actually being with him, she felt as if she was on the clouds. These past few days had felt so surreal that she couldn't tell when she was dreaming and when she was awake.
Nights together, mornings in each others arms. Cooking meals with each other and being able to relax at the end of a long day with shows that neither of them knew they both liked. Mundane tasks that made her feel like a normal adult, not one with the weight of a billion dollar company on her shoulders.
It was a life she didn't know she needed until getting a taste of it.
Tim Drake was her life, for a long time, she just didn't know it at the time. He was the one that was there for her no matter what. She just hoped that when the time came, she could be there for him as well. Tim was a strong man, he didn't emotional easily and she feared that when he did, it would be when he was truly broken.
><
"Everyone's staring."
"Let them."
To no surprise, as soon as one person saw them together, everyone crowded around. Whispers from tables beside them. Camera flashes from inside and outside the coffee shop. Stares and not so secret glances. People were shocked to see them together - and everyone knew damn well who they were.
From the moment he opened the door for her until now, they had all eyes glued to them. She felt the pressure to act like the people always wanted to see her as - prim, proper, and professional. It was Tim that kept assuring her to act like herself, to show the real her for once.
The barista wasn't sure what she was more shocked by - Tim buying himself and (Y/N) coffee or the one-hundred dollar tip he left. Either way, she served them with a smile on her face and a whisper of 'I knew it'. She didn't sound judgmental - she sounded supportive.
More people accumulated but no one dared to interrupt.
Tim reached across the table to grab her hand. He could feel the tapping of her foot and the nervous shake that she had. This was the most horrifying thing she had done in her life and it should have felt so easy. She was spending time with the one she loved, and it was still petrifying.
"Hey," Tim called. "We're in this together. No one else here matters. Whatever comes next, we're going to get through. I promise." She nodded her head at his words. He was right. There was no need to worry when she had him by her side. Her parents would be proud of her no matter what and she was still making Gotham a better place.
He suddenly drew a small heart into the back of her hand, silently telling her that he loved her. She smiled at the action.
The same barista from before came back with a hot pot of coffee in her hands. "Refill?" They both nodded at the same time. She poured them each another full mug, but hesitated before leaving. Tim looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to spill what she had to say. "I know this isn't my place - like at all - but, I always thought you guys would be good for each other."
Tim looked between both the women. "Thank you," he smiled. The barista matched it and headed back towards the counter she was stationed at. "See, there's nothing to be worried about." Tim squeezed her hand while sipping his coffee with the others. He shot her a wink over the lip of his mug.
There was that stupid flutter that filled her chest again. The one that only happened when she was with him and the one that she brushed off for years thinking that it was nothing but lust. God she felt so stupid for pushing him away for as long as she did.
Tim always filled her heart with emotions. Fear, anger, lust, love. It was always easy to clump it all into one emotion that she knew how to control. She knew that sex with him always seemed to fix her problems when in reality, it was just making everything worse.
Her heart dropped at the sight of an unwanted, familiar face.
"You spoke too soon," she muttered, watching as the person she dreaded most walked up to them. Vicki Vale had a snide smile on her face and a notepad in her hand. There was no hesitation in her eyes as she approached them, fully ready to impose on their date and turn it into an interview.
"Mr. Wayne," Vicki looked over to Tim, not even meeting (Y/N)'s eye. He slowly retracted his hand from hers - hoping that it wouldn't upset her. The movement went unnoticed by Vicki. "A pleasure as, always. I was hoping to ask you a few questions."
"Actually-"
"Actually, Ms. Vale," (Y/N) cut Tim off. Her voice instantly went from nervous to assertive. She sat up straight and narrowed her eyes as Vicki looked over to her. Tim bit into his bottom lip to stop the smile from spreading on his face for what was about to happen next. This was the moment that she dreaded most and she was taking it so well.
"Tim and I are in the midst of a date," she emphasized using his first thing - something that she had never done in the media before. It was always Mr. Drake - or Mr. Wayne. "If you have any questions about either of our companies, feel free to stop by during business hours."
"Personal questions.... actually," Vicki pursed her lips. Her hand was on her hip. If looks could kill, she'd be dead ten times over already. "And I was asking Mr. Wayne."
"That's a shame, Ms. Vale," Tim coughed, catching her attention. "You could have gotten the story of the year if you hadn't been so rude to my lovely date." He stood up suddenly, ushering her to do so as well. They walked past Vicki, her eyes latched onto them and their joined hands. "Have a nice day."
It was the fakest smile that she had ever seen him make. The two left the coffee shop without another word, waving to the barista as they passed. She held his hand with a death grip, worried that they might have been too rash against Vicki - she had lots of influence over the city, enough to make her worried.
"Holy shit, Tim," she breathed out as soon as she got a breath of fresh air. Her heart was racing from the confrontation. The strictness in Tim’s tone and the way that his hands bundled into fists from how rude Vicki Vale was being. "That was so hot."
"Glad you think so," Tim hid his grin. Her grip loosened as she became more relaxed. The distinct sound of camera's shuttering behind them could still be heard, but that was to no surprise. "What do you say, should we give them a real show?" He raised an eyebrow, referring to the paparazzi's behind them.
"Why not?" Tim stopped her, cupping her cheek with one hand and getting his hand firm against her waist. His lips were hesitant against her for the first time since they had met. He didn't want to give the cameras too much, but if they wanted to prove a point - that was the best way how. "I love you," her voice was so quiet he barely heard.
"I love you."

NOTES:
It's been a while. I've had these two chapters written for a while now but I haven't had time to sit down, edit them a little better and post them. Since I have time now, I thought I'd go ahead and do that, whether you guys asked for these next two chapters or not.
Sorry this took forever! Sorry I'm so slow, I've been settling into a new house and taking care of some IRL stuff / taking a little break. I swear, I'm going to update everything sooner or later. >.>
I love you guys.
WARNINGS:
NON/ LOOSE CANON COMPLIANCE - this is the biggest warning, so if you’re into things that follow exact canon plot you are… definitely not going to like this. ANGST & SLOW BURN, HEAVY SEXUAL TENSIONSTARTING NOW, ACTUALLY - this is just so everyone who started reading this thinking the smut would transpire in a hurry knows that apparently, it is not. VIOLENCE / SWEARING & FIGHTING, POSSIBLE UNDERAGE DRINKING AND OTHER SHENANIGANS- look.. it’s high school. shit happens. also apparently, my ofc Alyssa uses the word fuck like all the time?…EVENTUAL SEXUAL CONTENT / A VIRGIN ORIGINAL CHARACTER- this one is self explanatory. yes, i plan to write a smutty chapter in this at some point. when? i don’t rightly know. it’s got a while before we get there. STALKER TW - this chapter marks the true appearance of Alyssa's ex, Dave Novak. It's hinted heavily that he's a gross asshole who likes to play mind games.
If you're under 18+, probably not a good or wise idea to continue reading this series. Because there are going to be a few dark and adult themes within. I'll warn here, of course, but you need to understand that I don't control you. If you continue to read after having read the warnings and you're upset or don't like something... Totally on you, friend.

[773 - 589 - 7956] I think I decided how you can repay me, scarlet…
[773 - 589 - 7956] Better enjoy your quiet and happy little life while you still have it, scarlet. Because soon it’s all going to be ripped right out of your pretty little hands.
[773 - 589 - 7956] That boyfriend of yours isn’t even gonna be able to save you this time, scarlet. You’re mine.
[773 - 589 - 7956] See you soon, scarlet.
Each new text that came in had me tensing up. Careful to keep my phone out of sight of anyone who was nearby. My heart was about to beat right out of my chest and my stomach felt like it sank to the floor. I was barely listening to anything being said around me and I guess it was more obvious than I thought because Toni cleared her throat, nodding to the phone in my hand.
Gazing at me in concern.
“Everything okay? You look like you’re going to be sick.”
“Yeah, yeah. Everything is fine.” I lied. I think at that particular point in time, I was just trying to convince myself that this was all some kind of bad dream. Or worst case scenario, Dave was making empty threats.
Toni eyed me suspiciously. I tried to give her a convincing smile, but I’d have had to be an idiot to even think for a second that she believed me. She eyed my phone and reached for it. I managed to shove it in my pocket.
“Trust me.” I pleaded. She gave me a wary look and sighed, grumbling “Fine, okay. Alright.” under her breath.
And I did my best to push the texts out of my head. Jumping in the conversation she had going on with Cheryl and Veronica. Laughing and talking as if nothing were wrong.
Lying through the skin of my teeth.
XXX
“What’s got you so jumpy?”
The question caught me off guard. I wanted to tell someone what was going on, I really did, but… I didn’t want to worry anyone, either. I was at least 99.9 percent sure that there was absolutely no way that Dave would show up in Riverdale, at least that’s what I was hoping.
I did my best to play it off. Shoveling french fries into my mouth just so I didn’t have to answer right away. My cell phone lit up and I flinched before I could stop myself.
Toni reached for it and I quickly grabbed it and shoved it in my pocket. She gave me a concerned look and I muttered quietly, “Probably just Reggie...again.”
“Reggie’s with that new girl though?” Cheryl spoke up. Gazing at me thoughtfully. My breath caught in my throat because if anyone would catch on to there being something truly wrong with me or something off in the way I was acting, it’d be her or Polly.
So far, I’d managed to fool everyone else into thinking I was alright, even my dad and my brother.
,, Dave won’t come here, it’s not worth the hassle. He’s just playing mind games. That’s all this is. Pull yourself together.” the thought came and I managed a smile, shrugging.
“You’ve been acting weird all week, now that I’m thinking about it.” Cheryl was the one who said it and she gave me an expectant look. Waiting.
“I have not.”
,, I do have one secret I can spill. Maybe if I tell them about my crush on Sweetpea…” and so that’s what I did. Sighing as I reached for the shared plate of fries between the three of us. Raking my fries through my vanilla milkshake and taking a few deep breaths to kind of collect myself, both from Dave’s harassing texts and what I was finally about to get off my chest about having feelings for Sweetpea.
“You have. Start talking.” Toni spoke up, watching me. Sizing me up. If I had to guess, I’d pin money on her sitting across the booth, trying to figure out what was up with my jumpy attitude all week.
“Okay, alright. Fine. But what I’m about to tell you two does not leave this table, okay? It.. It can’t. If Sweetpea ever found out, pretty sure he’d start avoiding me and things would get weird.”
Toni and Cheryl exchanged a look and then Toni nodded. Chewing a mouthful of fries as she muttered calmly, “Go on.”
“ I may or may not have a crush on Sweetpea.”
“Oh, you definitely have a crush on him. It’s kind of obvious.” Cheryl gave a soft teasing grin and I sighed. Dragging my hand through my hair and taking a few seconds to let her words sink in. I almost dreaded asking, but I felt like I had to given that she said it was obvious. “Oh god.. He doesn’t suspect anything.. Right?”
“Oh, he’s the only one whose oblivious. But the rest of us, we’ve known a while.” Toni teased me. Then asked calmly, “Is that all? Why’s that have you so jumpy?”
“Because I know how bad I am at hiding things, okay? I was kind of… I dunno, freaking out I guess.” I eyed her, waiting. Searching her face in the hopes that she accepted what I said and didn’t keep pushing. A few seconds passed and she laughed softly. Took a sip of her strawberry milkshake and asked with a smirk, “Are you gonna do anything about it?”
“Probably not. Every time I even think about it, I manage to talk myself right out of it. He’d laugh his ass off, okay? Besides, remember all the flirting he was doing with Josie when they had to work together during the play?” I pouted as I pointed it out.
Cheryl and Toni exchanged looks and Toni laughed. “He was doing that to make you jealous. Or that’s what I think he was doing. Either way… I think you should do something. He’s not going to and trust me… I’ve known the guy my whole life. I know him well enough to say that I know he has a thing for you. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so cranky when you two first met?”
“I thought he was just naturally grumpy?”
“Oh, he is, but the way he was towards you was totally different. He’s only that grumpy when he’s trying to keep his defenses up.” Toni informed me before finishing off her shake.
The door to the diner opened and Sweetpea walked in, Fangs in tow. The two of them were laughing about something. I gave both Cheryl and Toni a pleading look and Cheryl seemed to pick up on my unspoken plea to change the subject thankfully, because she asked, “Are you going to F.P’s retirement party at the Wyrm?”
“Yeah.” I answered, finishing off my milkshake. Sweetpea flopped into the booth beside me, carelessly slinging an arm over the back of the seat. His hand brushed against my shoulder and I swear just the small brush against me felt like someone had taken a livewire and dragged it over my body real slow.
Toni smirked at me, nodding at Sweetpea while he was too busy wolfing down french fries to notice and I shook my head.
“I dare you. No… I triple dare you.. Flirt with him.” Toni gave a teasing grin as she mouthed the words to me and I swallowed hard.
She’s not playing fair. She knows I can’t turn down a dare.
I happened to glance out the window of the diner and when I thought I saw Dave standing there, leaning against a streetlamp, one hand in his pocket and a cigarette dangling between his lips, I nearly choked. This prompted Sweetpea to start hitting me on the back lightly as he laughed and looked at me in concern. “Damn cherry, are you trying to kill yourself?”
Toni’s brow raised and Sweetpea explained what happened earlier in the day, how I’d nicked myself with the scalpel in our first period class while doing a dissection. What Sweetpea didn’t know was that when it happened, it was because I thought I’d seen Dave standing outside in the parking lot, only to blink and the parking lot be empty.
I have got to stop letting his stupid mind games get to me. It’s just because he’s texting me again. It’s just because he knows how to work me up and get me all scared, he used to be good at it when we dated.
He’d never come to Riverdale. He’s just doing this to me for his own sick amusement and every single time I let him get to me, especially when I’m to a point where I’m so paranoid I’m imagining that I see him everywhere lately, it’s letting him win and that pisses me off more than anything.
I’m supposed to be stronger than that, damn it.
Toni eyed me suspiciously and I braced myself. When she didn’t bring up my skittish behavior, I relaxed a little.
I wanted to tell someone what was going on, but at the same time, why? I’m pretty sure this is just Dave, being an absolute bag of dicks.
It has to be that. It has to be.
XXX
He stood outside some podunk little diner right in the heart of town. The hazy red neon gave off a comforting and inviting warmth and he lit his cigarette, fuming in anger as he watched her sitting inside.
“I know you’re not ignoring me, scarlet. I know you’re not.” he muttered, mostly to himself as he turned the collar of his leather jacket up against the wind and started to walk towards the South Side.
Maybe it was time he paid his old buddy Eric a visit. Eric was out of prison. Eric was the one who’d told him where Alyssa was to begin with, though he didn’t realize it.
Dave chuckled and shook his head as he walked towards the shitty apartments on the opposite end of town where Eric lived. Eric owed him a few favors. He was coming to collect.
“Did you really think I was jokin when I told ya I have friends all over? That you weren’t ever gonna get away from me?” he mused to himself as he knocked on the door of a first floor slum apartment.
Eric opened the door, leaning in it lazily. Blinking at him in a daze and smirking. High fiving him as he asked him why he was in town.
Dave whipped out his phone, showing Eric a picture of Alyssa. At first he gave him some story about her running off while he was in the pen. Eric wasn’t buying it, he could see it written in the expression on his face. And that only made him angry. Eric owed him. He was here to collect the favor owed. All he wanted was for Eric to help him out on this one little thing.
Eric shook his head, chuckling in disgust. Gazing at him with a brow raised. “I think you need to leave, man. Now. You don’t want the heat this is gonna bring down on you. And I’m not about to get on a Serpent’s bad side, even if the Serpent in question is just a damn kid.”
“See, I’d like to just put this all behind me, man... but she’s the whole reason I even went to prison to begin with. Then I get out and find out not only is my girl not loyal, she’s also the one who snitched on me?” Dave eyed Eric. Getting irritated because this was not how he saw the conversation going.
“I’m telling you, you need to leave. Forget about Alyssa. I see her around all the time with some kid… Sweet Pea or Green Bean, some shit. The Serpents are not people you fuck with, man. Not around these parts.”
“You know the Serpents aren’t shit to me… Right?” Dave quipped, smirking. “I’ve got this under control. I just need you to help me out a little… C’mon, man. You owe me.”
“I don’t fucking care. I’m not helping you do whatever it is you’re here to do. What I oughta do is put a bullet in your fucking head for even thinking I’d be down for this shit. She’s a kid, man. A fucking kid... Favor or not, man… I’m on the Serpents side with this. Not yours. You need to leave.” Eric warned, giving Dave a firm glare as he folded heavily tattooed arms over his chest.
“Oh, so that’s how you’re playin, huh? Okay. Alright. All I wanna do is see her again. I’m not going to do anything. I just want to straighten things out. Get a little closure on the situation...”
Eric scoffed. “This coming from the king of overreaction. I don’t trust you.I’m breakin code of my gang by even talking to your ass. Nope. The answer is no. I’m not helping. Do whatever you have to do to me, but I’m not about to help you scare some kid. I’ve got better things to do with my time, buddy...”
Dave’s arm shot out and he pinned Eric against the door of his apartment. Smirking at him calmly. “I know you haven’t forgotten just how much your sorry ass owes me. Because that’s what this sounds like.”
“I guess that’s what it is then. Because I’ve seen what the Serpents can do. I’m not about to bring all that down on my head.” Eric stepped back inside his apartment, slamming the door in Dave’s face, leaving him to glare at the closed door and take a swing.
“Guess I’m doing this all by myself.” Dave mused as he turned and wandered down to a shitty dive bar nearby. He needed to have a few rounds. Come up with a plan.
And a little after midnight, after finding himself a few new talkative friends in some local Ghoulies, things were starting to look up for him. And he was slowly forming a plan.
Now he just had to wait. Pick his moment. Toy with her a little more.
“I’m so close I can almost touch you, scarlet. Soon… Soon you’re going to pay for running your mouth to mommy about me...” he smirked to himself as he unlocked his hotel room and stepped inside.

Pairing: Hawkebela
Characters: Marian Hawke, Isabela
Tags: post-da2, battle girlfriends
Rating: Mature
Isabela can’t see. The rain comes down in thick, heavy lead sheets, battering the deck of her ship and washing away the blood of the ill-fated boarding party that had thought to challenge her and her crew. The Siren heaves and bucks on dark, towering waves. Isabela holds her balance, barely, and lashes the rope at her belt to the cord strung across the deck for exactly such an occasion. She can barely hear over the roaring sea. But she takes in a deep breath that’s damp with saltwater and bellows, anyway, “HAWKE! WHERE ARE YOU?”
Isabela’s hair clings heavily to her face and neck as she stumbles across the rocking deck, feet sure on the familiar wood, kicking aside the bodies of their enemies as she goes. Most of her crew are sane and seaworthy enough to have ducked below decks, taking the positions they needed to take in this situation. Isabela mostly knows this because the Siren hasn’t capsized yet, and she feels the juddering shudder of her rudder as her helm heaves the ship over the next wave, half as high as a mountain and thrice as lively.
As the ship crashes back down on the other side of the wave, Isabela’s feet leave the deck, just for a moment, before she and her ship crash down onto the water with a jarring thump that shivers through her bones. The Siren’s damp sails snap in the wind like the crack of a whip, and Isabela pulls herself along the tilting incline of her deck.
Hawke has never seen a storm like this. She could already be lost: hurled into the stormy abyss of the roiling ocean around them. For the first time in a long time, Isabela looks up at the great blue cliffs of water around her ship and feels afraid.
“--BELA!”
Isabela’s heart stops, and she shoves her hair back from where it’s clinging to her cheeks. There! A dark shadow in the rain, clinging to the main mast like a cabin boy. Isabela grins, and feels the ache of it in her cheeks. Marian is soaked through, and her clothes are dark and sticky with blood and seawater. Her already pale skin is white as a sheet, and her knuckles are wrapped firmly around the rope attached to the mast. She looks at Isabela the way her crew will loo at the sky when this storm breaks.
Isabela pushes away the fear and urgency that had been rising in her: that’s still boiling in her now, violent and wild as the ocean around them and just as cold. She stops a foot away from the mast and raises an eyebrow, jerking her chin at the mast. “You two seem close.” Hawke starts to laugh, and then the ship bucks and she squeezes her eyes shut.
Isabela is moving before she’s had a chance to think about it. She wraps one arm around Hawke’s waist - feeling the tell tale warmth of new blood on her side - and pulls her close. Hawke grunts, and Isabela’s breath stutters in her chest. Above them, the tempest rages with cracking thunder that sounds like it’s splitting the sky.
“It’s alright.” Isabela tries to keep the fear from her voice, and tells herself it’s stolen by the wind as rain and seawater sting across her face. “I’ve got you.”
Hawke relaxes into her, and Isabela wraps her other hand firmly around the safety rope on deck, twisting it in a practiced grip to avoid rope burn.
Suddenly, they’re airborne.
Isabela’s feet leave the deck with a stomach lurching wrench, and she hears Hawke yelp, feels her weight suddenly grow heavy in her arms as she falls, and the ship rocks almost perfectly onto its side. The rope on Isabela’s waist is slack for a moment as they fall, and then it snaps taut with a creak, straining against the weight of them both.
For one infinite second, Isabela hangs off the deck of her ship, Hawke’s wet, slipping weight clung tightly in her arm, and watches as the blood-dark deck of her ship tilts towards the sea, mast and sails hanging at a right angle to the ocean.
Then they crest the wave, and the Siren crashes back onto her keel, throwing Hawke into Isabela’s chest and sending both of them sprawling onto the deck.
In her arms, Isabela can feel Hawke shaking, fast and shivering as a leaf in a strong wind. She lets the part of her that’s survived worse storms than this take over, hurriedly lashing Hawke’s belt to the safety rope before picking her up and dragging both of them towards the stairs that lead below decks. The narrow wooden walls batter their arms and shoulders as they half run, half fall into the Siren’s belly, stepping into ankle-deep seawater that’s splashing down the corridors.
As safe as they can be for now, Hawke slumps, suddenly, and Isabela looks down to see that her arm around Hawke’s waist is red and dripping with blood. She glares at a cabin boy - Samuel, she thinks his name is, with the bandages wound tight around his chest showing through his damp shirt. “Get this water out of here.”
Samuel ducks her a salute. “Yes, captain!” He runs off in the direction of the kitchen for a bucket. Isabela drags Hawke down the hall, bracing them against the rocking walls and splashing water, and pulls them into her quarters, slamming the door shut behind her and heaving Hawke onto the deck. Their survival was down to her first mate now - a sharp-eyed elf named Alexis. Isabela didn’t doubt she would see them through.
Instead, in the twilight of her room with no candles lit, Isabela pushes up Hawke’s armour and tunic with hands that she tells herself are only shaking for the cold. The wound in Hawke’s side is ugly and ragged, ripped open with a serrated blade. Bruises litter her ribs and belly, though Isabela doesn’t doubt she gave as good as she got. Not for the first time, Isabela wishes Anders was with them.
Instead, she leans over the side of the bed and picks up a handful of elfroot potions, uncorking the first as the ship lurches. The bed creaks, but stays firm, built for storms like this and worse. Smoothing down Hawke’s damp hair, Isabela pours the potion into her mouth. “Come on, love. Drink up.”
Isabela glances back down at Hawke’s side. It takes a moment, but slowly the wound begins to seal itself. Isabela doesn’t wait. She uncorks another potion with her teeth, spitting the cork into the seawater around her bed and waiting for Hawke to finish swallowing before she presses the lip of the glass to her mouth. Thick translucent red liquid dribbles down Hawke’s chin, but she swallows, and at last her breathing eases.
Isabela slumps, stroking Hawke’s cheek and pushing the hair back out of her face. Raindrops fall like diamonds from Hawke’s eyelashes as she blinks up at her. “-‘sabela?”
Isabela nods, running her hand over Hawke’s side to check the wound is sealed. “I’m here.”
Hawke nods, sleepy with blood loss. “S’good. I was..trying to find you. S’dangerous.” The ship bucks, and Isabela laughs and squeezes her eyes shut against the heat behind her eyelids.
“Well, you found me. It’s alright now.”
Hawke’s teeth begin to chatter, and Isabela waits for the ship to fall down with a thundering crash before she quickly unbolts a cupboard and pulls out a handful of heavy blankets. She unbuckles Hawke’s armour with stiff fingers, and quickly pulls off her tunic. Hawke grins up at her. “You...propa -propo- prositioning me?”
Isabela pulls off her own clothes and wraps around Hawke, buckling the blankets beneath the belts on either side of her bed and holding her close. Hawke’s body is cold as ice, and she hisses as Isabela’s presses into her bruises. Isabela ignores the soft, tender ache of her own injuries as Hawke pushes against them. She kisses the back of Hawke’s neck. “Later, love.”
The storm abates at daybreak. The waves get gentler, and the storm quietens, until at last they sit in an ocean becalmed. A ragged cheer pulls Isabela out of the half-slumber into which she’d fallen, and she watches as the small puddles of water left from the night slosh out of her room and down the halls. She’ll need to see Alexis - take a headcount of the crew, see if they need to search for anyone who’d fallen overboard, take stock of any damage. But Hawke’s body is warm and dry now, and the blankets around them have trapped the small furnace of their combined body heat. Isabela doesn’t want to leave her, yet.
Hawke shifts, and her hair is stiff with salt. Her elbow pushes into a bruise on Isabela’s breast, and Isabela grunts, guiding her elbow away as she turns. When Hawke looks at her, her eyes are bright and blue with a rare kind of solemnity, despite the knife-slash of a grin she offers her. “That was a close one.”
Isabela’s hand moves to stroke the smooth, unbroken skin of Hawke’s side, a perfect line of unblemished flesh surrounded by a spreading field of bruises. She hums. “It was.”
“Thank you.” Hawke waits for Isabela to look at her, and offers her a shyer, close-lipped smile as she looks up at her from beneath her eyelashes. “You saved my life.”
Isabela smiles, and holds her lover in her arms, and feels the gentle rocking of her ship beneath her on a quiet sea. Sunlight falls across the cabin like dusted gold. “It’s what we do, isn’t it? Save each other.”
Hawke smiles, and presses closer, pushing their breasts together as she wraps her long, slender thigh over Isabela’s and pulls her close. She presses a soft, warm kiss to Isabela’s neck, and Isabela shuts her eyes and luxuriates in the warm tickle of her breath, feeling the steady thud of her heartbeat where their skin touches. Hawke holds her, tightly, and Isabela lets herself be held. Hawke’s thumb rubs a soft, slow circle over Isabela’s bare back. “Yeah. We do.”
Above them, on deck, Isabela’s crew laugh and watch the sunrise.

What Is Love ?
Tumblr media
Love.
Love means different things to different people. Some people say love is making your partner happy and seeing them happy makes you happy . But love, is actually a figment of our imaginations. In a way, love is selfish and makes us lose our independence. You make the other person happy to keep yourself happy, and you become dependent and vulnerable. It's a somewhat like a shared dream. And until one person decides to wakeup, and that dream, albeit fun while it lasted, becomes a living nightmare
1 YEAR AGO
For Harry and y/n; sneaking out of premiers and award shows, buying tacos and eating them at 3 AM was love. For them, love was dancing in the kitchen to Elvis and baking with each other. Love was watching horror movies in makeshift tents, snacking on caramel popcorns and cans of soda; all while making fun of Harry's "those dumb bitches" in the movie. Love was falling asleep in each others arms and reading each other books. It was dressing up as Disney characters and acting out scenes from their favourite animations. It was etheral, perfect. Almost too perfect too be true
People always said "Love will fizzle out. One of you will get bored." Harry and y/n didn't listen. They burned so fast, so bright and didn't realise that their spark too, like all blazed and sparks from lighted matches, had extinguished. One second it was burning so brightly, and the next, it was gone
..............................................................................................
"When was the last time you spoke to him ?" asked y/n's sister.
" A week ago" a distraught y/n replied. "He barely has time to even talk to me on the phone, let alone show me the sights and explore the places with him via facetime"
For a brief moment, she allowed herself to close her eyes and all the memories flashed through her eyes, like a movie roll, playing over and over agai
FLASHBACK
"Y/N !" exclaimed Harry, the golden flecks in his eyes dancing with joy. Oh how she longed to see him, feel him and be with him in real life , rather than on a screen. Yet she was eternally grateful for Harry for never making her feel left out from the tour experience, he always made sure to show her around, even if it was only on a screen, while giving tour guide commentary in a horribly fake American accent.
"You're in for a treat ! We're going to see the Louvre today. Come on an enjoy the sited with Harry's Tour Experiences"
Y/n couldn't stop laughing.
Being an art fanatic, she giving Harry detailed descriptions of the art, while all he did was turn it inti a joke. His put on accent stood out when he kept saying " Oh shucks ! Here's another painting of a few women and men fighting and eating." He termed an entire style of art; renaissance art as "men and women barely dressed fighting and eating". He made a few sly comments on how y/n would look lovely in that dress. It was so wonderful and each of these virtual trips was marked with his signature end. Going to a park, and eating the same food.
His laughter was contagious and y/n loved it. She wondered how she got so lucky, so blessed to have hazza in her life.
She never thought that this love, would eventually fizzle.
end of flashback
Now she was lucky if he spoke to her for 5 minutes. Even those 5 minutes were filled with her talking and him showing least interest in what she had to say. She doubted whether he even listened.
Today, however was a low blow. It was y/n' bday. had it been any other year. Harry would've made this day perfect. They had been together since they were 18. The first year, he bought her 18 gifts on her birthday. The subsequent year, he got her 19 and so on. He would make her breakfast in bed and wake her up with showers of kisses and a "Good Morning, Happy Birthday Darling."
Today however, at 7 PM , she was yet to have him acknowledge that it was her birthday. She was yet to have any sign of news from him at all. She illusioned herself, thinking that maybe he had interviews to attend.
Her sister, however, tired with y/n's moping, said" You're coming over with your friends to Club 22 this night or else I wont speak to you. I don't want you to spend your birthday moping around"
With great difficulty, y/n was persuaded by her friends to go clubbing. The loud music, the drinks and the dim lights were never y/n's scene. Yet, for the sake of her friends, she fixed up a smile on her face and tried to enjoy, trying her best to forget than Harry's call still hadn't come.
.......
It was 10 PM and the party was in full swing. y/n's friends were drunk, so drunk. Everyone around her was laughing, drinking and joking. Meanwhile, a new disturbing thought had settled in y/n's head. What if he got into and accident ? What if he's really sick ? She was ridden with anxiety and couldn't get Harry off her mind, until that one fateful message from Nezza, her best friend, Harry's PA, through whom they had met, sent her that message. When y/n's phone lit up and she scarmbled to see the text, hoping it was Harry, she did not know it would change her life permanently.
The text was simple. "I'm so so sorry honey; you deserve to know" It was attached with a single file of pictures.
She subconciously knew what had happened. She had seen all the signs, yet chose to ignore them, not wanting to get up from her dream. The reduced duration of phone calls ultimately leading up to a call a month, the regular excuses, coming home late, half hearted kisses, they all added up. For a split second, y/n wanted to think that it was something else; maybe harry was too drunk or had passed out in a bar.
The message to forever to download. It was so slow and painfully excruciating. It was like the calm before the storm. The slow before the fast. The light drizzle before the thunderstorm. When the picture finally loaded; her heart shattered ever so fast. The pain she felt was numbing, yet somewhere in her mind, she was gald that Harry was safe.
There was Harry, his arm around the small waist of the redhead, his fingers entwined in hers. The same fingers which ran through y/n's hair multiple times, were now woven in another's hand. She thought her heart couldnt break more.
Fate was not kind to y/n.
She swiped to see the next picture, and she wasn't sure how, or whether it was even possible, but her heart further broke. Harry was kissing her in the booth, their booth, in Alessandro's the place he had her first date with y/n.
Fate had evil plans for y/n.
Tears streaming down her face, the makeup for the night ruined, y/n looked around for her sister and friends but they were nowhere to be seen. The only thing glowing right now was her glitzy dress, the one she had been forced into. Unable to take it anymore, she ordered an uber and left.
Fate wasn't kind to y/n at all
The minute she left the club, she was blinded with lights, the flashes from the camera, and the shouts from the reporters
" How do you feel about Harry cheating on you on tour ?"
"Did you expect this ? How do you react to Harry kissing a supermodel, younger than you!"
Y/n wanted to scream, but keeping her emotions in she pushed through the sea of people, got into her uber, gave her address and broke down.
She cried and cried. The uber driver tried to ask her what was wrong but she couldn't stop crying. she wanted the pain to go away. she wanted to cry. But most of all, she wanted Harry to tell her that it wasn't true and hold her in his arms and tell her it's alright.
But it wasn't. it wasn't alright. Far from it.
The next morning after an extremly broken sleep, y/n awoke. All the event's from last night wre remembered and her eyes started to water again. She switched on her phone to see the hashtag #y/ndeservesbetter and #harryandy/nareover trending. She also so 100 missed calls, voicemails and texts from Harry but chose to ignore them.
Y/n was raised to be strong. She spent most of childhood see her mom struggle to make meets end. She had seen the worst. She was strong. She went over to the mirror and saw her reflection and realised that she looked a mess. She took 3 deep breaths, washed her face, and masked her emotions, just as she did way back in high school, before she met Harry, before he changed her.
She went down and suddenly the apartment door opened. There stood the man who she loved, the man who had broken her heart, the one who still held her heart, no matter how broken it was.
He pleaded with her to forgive him. He begged, cried, said it was a one time mistake, and he regretted it, that he loved her; but y/n turned a deaf ear to his pleas. Their love had fizzled out, and she was blinded by affection not to realise it earlier. And as the saying goes " Once a cheater, always a cheater." Y/n wasn't taking any more risks. She put on a strong facade, made up her mind and left, leaving a crying Harry on the porch.
She wasn't over him, far from it. She was so broken, yet showed no signs. She had calm expresssion, yet her thoughts were chaotic. But she knew what was best and she knew this was the right thing to do. She had to take the lessons from this experience and move on, just like her mother had taught her. Dreams end, no matter how amazing it is, no matter how much you want to hold on and live it, and this, her perfect dream, had also come to an end.
So, what is love ?
A dream ? A nightmare ? Soemthing too good to be true?
Maybe all it is, is an illusion. A fairytale. Or maybe it is the truth, because truth teaches us lessons and so does love. i guess it's one of those things which just has no answers.

I Can't Help But Wait - Chapter 2
Twilight fic/Post Breaking Dawn/Embry Call imprint fic/mature warning/ part 2 of ?
2 - More Questions Than Answers
Embry's POV -
"Can I go now?"
Officer Grant huffed out a breath through his nose, barely glancing up at me before replying, "Just a few more questions."
"You said that a half hour ago," I growled. "I need to go check on my girl."
A smirk graced his stubbled face as he finally made eye contact. "So the victim is your girlfriend?" he prodded.
I rolled my neck around a few times, causing my bones to crack a bit. "No. Not exactly."
He nodded and tapped his pen to his temple. "So which is it? I mean...are you screwing her or what?"
Before I knew it, I had lunged at him, springing off the gurney at an inhuman speed. I refrained from grabbing him, but I was definitely in his face. "You need to watch your mouth."
"Did I hit a nerve?" the officer baited me. "Either you're screwing her or…"
"I'm done answering your dumbass questions. Charge me with something or fuck off."
We stood eye to eye, neither wanting to be the first to back down. Paul appeared at my side and I flinched when he gripped my shoulder. "Take it easy, man."
Officer Grant chuckled and backed away slowly. "Don't leave town, boys. We may need you to testify as to what that kid did to...what did you call her...your girl? Yeah. Her."
With that, he retreated into the hallway and I noticed how he glanced at me and Paul as he spoke to the other officer in the hall. They were both smirking and laughing. I didn't know what they found so entertaining, but I hoped they weren't going to interrogate Nicolle with the same level of inappropriateness that I had just seen. By the time they wandered out of my sight, I was ready to tear this room to shreds.
From the moment we arrived at the hospital, I had been treated like a criminal, for reasons I didn't understand. Of course, showing up in a police car probably didn't help.
"Are you gonna tell me what the hell's going on with you?"
I lifted my gaze to find Paul giving me an intense stare. "Don't ask," I mumbled before going back to the gurney and having a seat.
"Come on, Embry. Just tell me what's going on in your head. You looked like you wanted to rip that cop's head off." Paul was concerned, I could feel it. He had stood by me through this, so I had to be honest.
"I imprinted, man. And...it's like I can't even control myself anymore. I would've killed that kid if you hadn't pulled me back," I announced breathlessly, pulling the ends of my hair.  "He hurt her. And I just couldn't see straight. This feels insane."
Paul sighed and shrugged. "The imprint pull is insane. Your need to protect her will make you crazy. Sometimes my jealousy makes Rachel wanna beat my head in. I can't help it. And neither can you."
I didn't have a chance to respond because a nurse appeared with a folder and gave me a concerned look. "Mr. Call? You've indicated that you'd like to decline treatment?"
"Yeah. I just wanna go."
She cocked her head and sighed. "How about I just check your vitals and we can leave it at that?"
I jumped up from my spot on the gurney and backed away. "I said no. Just tell me what I need to sign so I can get the hell out of here."
I cringed when I saw how my harsh words had affected her. This was not me. I don't attack humans. I don't scream at strangers. I'm not short-tempered and testy with people. I hated the person I was becoming. If this was what being imprinted was like, I'd rather not.
"Listen…Amanda, is it?" Paul paused and the young nurse nodded. "My friend here is just real anxious to get back to his girl. You know, the one he came in with? So if there's anything we can do to speed this along…"
I shook my head and stifled a chuckle when I saw how fast the young nurse had changed her tune. She was laughing and tossing her ponytail aside as Paul leaned in closer and smiled. Yes, Paul had an imprint and no, he'd never cheat but he had never forgotten how to flirt, especially when it helped him get what he needed.
A little while later, I was moving through the hallway with Paul, thanking him for his assistance. We both knew my cuts had already healed and it was always in our best interest to never be checked over by humans. We couldn't explain our high temps or why our injuries had healed so quickly. If I had really been hurt, I would have called Carlisle.
I scowled when I heard my imprint's voice behind a curtain. She was upset and that upset me. I peeled the ugly fabric back and scanned the room before poking my head in. "Can I come in?" I murmured softly when my gaze met hers.  I noticed how her face lit up when I smiled at her. I coasted over to her bedside and smoothed my hand over her hair.
"We're not finished," Officer Grant grumbled from the corner of the room. I sighed deeply and began to retreat when I felt Nicolle's hand grip the edge of my t-shirt and pull me closer.
"He can stay," she defied. "But I'm really tired, so do you think we could finish this later?"
"The details are important.. " he began as he approached the bed and I sat beside her. "But I guess we can be done for now."
I watched as the officer fished a business card from his front pocket and thrust it in our direction. I snatched the card up and gave him a curt nod, one that he chose not to return. Paul caught my gaze as I watched Officer Grant leave the room. I gave Paul a look that indicated everything was okay.
An hour later, I had my arm around my imprint, helping hold her up as she sagged against me. It was late and we were both exhausted. "Where's Paul?" Nicolle sighed when his truck was finally in sight.
"His wife picked him up. He left me his truck so I could take you home."
She hummed and nodded. "I'm still waiting for you to explain why you don't have any cuts on your body, Embry."
I sighed as I reached for the passenger door handle, ignoring her questions that started the moment we left the hospital. I gasped when she pressed her back against the truck door and effectively stopped me from opening it. I ran both hands through my hair and stared up at the night sky. "I'm tired, honey. Can we please just go home?"
I lowered my gaze and caught her staring up at me. I squeezed her shoulders and forced a smile. "Please?"
She seemed to be tongue-tied. Whether it was from my second time slipping up and calling her 'honey' or the fact that I was still refusing to answer her questions, she didn't look amused.  "You promised me some answers, Embry."
I leaned forward and pressed my forehead to hers, eye contact super intense, and I felt her resolve soften a little. She gasped when I hoisted her over my shoulder, yanked the truck door open and forced her inside. By the time I got around to the driver's side, she was fuming. "You can't just kidnap me!" she insisted.
I started the truck and backed out, chuckling as we headed out of the parking lot. "This isn't a kidnapping, darling."
Nicolle sat there huffing for a moment and I glanced at her as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Won't your girlfriend get mad if she finds out you've been calling me honey and darling?"
My jaw clenched as I glanced at my blindspot and jerked the wheel toward the side of the road. I skidded to a stop and slammed the gear shifter into park. Nicolle gripped the dashboard and stared at me incredulously. "Are you crazy?"
I shrugged as I slid across the seat and caged her in my arms, one on the back of the seat and one on the door. "Maybe I am. Or maybe you are?"
I was in her face, I could see her pulse racing in her neck, hear her panting breaths and even smell the apple juice she drank at the hospital. My gaze darted from her mouth to her eyes and back again. I considered kissing her to make her shut up, but I knew better. She needed answers, not my tongue down her throat.
"Nicolle?"
She blinked quickly, her eyes scanning my face as she waited for me to continue. "Do you really think I'd be here, now, with you if I had a girlfriend?"
Nicolle shrugged and I watched as tears welled in her eyes. "I don't know what to think, Embry. This is so crazy. I asked my cousin about you and she said you had a girlfriend. Was she wrong?"
I sucked in a deep breath and pulled away from her. I shifted to sit next to her, resting my elbows on my knees. This is difficult for me to say, even harder to go through it. "No. I used to have a girlfriend."
She scooted closer to me and let her hand drift lightly up my back. "Used to?"
I nodded and continued to hold my head in my hands. "I...broke up with her. I didn't want to, but there was no way I could stay with her. Not when I felt this strongly for you."
She continued to stroke my back and my whole body tingled from the contact. She didn't reply, so I continued. "I didn't want to ruin a four year relationship and I really hurt her. But..it wasn't fair to her. I couldn't stay away from you, Nicolle.  I tried to, but it was hopeless."
"Embry...I don't get this. We barely know each other. I hate that you would do that for me."
I shifted my body toward hers and made eye contact. "I did it for me." I lifted my hand to her face, holding it inches from her cheek. I wanted to touch her, reassure her, but the thought of her rejecting me just scared the shit out of me. "I tried to stay away from you, but I couldn't."
I smiled softly when her hand covered mine and she held it against her face. "I've felt it too. There's this...pull between us. The more you came to the store, the more anxious I got to see you again. I tried to ignore it…" she paused and squeezed her eyes shut when my thumb brushed across her cheek.
"I know. I'm sorry. I never meant to screw up your life...or Casey's. I just couldn't deny the imprint."
"Imprint?" she echoed as her eyes snapped open. "You imprinted on me?"
I furrowed my brow in confusion. How did she know about imprinting? I thought for a moment and considered my next move. "Is your cousin Quileute?"
"Yes. She lives on the rez. She was the one who told me about your girlfriend and that you worked with Paul. Her name is Kim."
I laughed as I pulled her across my lap and nuzzled my nose into her neck. She smelled amazing and I couldn't hold back anymore. I was partially relieved to hear she knew about imprinting from Kim. Kim and Jared were married and I can't believe I didn't figure this out sooner. "I have so much to tell you," I admitted when I pulled away from her.
Nicolle stared down and me and nodded. "I'm ready to hear it."
I leaned up to kiss her, unable to wait another minute. Chickening out at the last second, my kiss landed on her cheek instead. She leaned into me and I could hear her heart pounding. It made me feel powerful. I wanted to drive her mad. But for now, we both needed sleep.
A little while later, we were parking and I hated to wake her, but it was getting late. "Nicolle," I whispered. "Wake up, honey." I held her tightly against my side, my arm wrapped snugly around her waist. I kissed the top of her head and gathered her into my arms. "You're home now," I murmured as I carried her to the front door.
I put her on the couch, covered her in a blanket and stayed close to her as she slept. I sat at the end of the couch with her feet in my lap and my mind raced. I was falling for her. I needed her to know about my wolf and soon.
The longer I waited, the more it would kill me if she rejected our bond. I couldn't even imagine it. I couldn't bear to be without her now that I had held her in my arms. When I ran away from her yesterday, I felt like someone was twisting my guts from the inside out.
I didn't mean to get so upset when she brought up Casey. I hated that she thought I could cheat. Although I guess I had been. I was still with Casey, but I couldn't get Nicolle out of my head. That's why I had to end it.
I could feel my eyes getting heavier as the thoughts of Nicolle became more positive. Maybe she could love me? Maybe she would accept my wolf?
…..
"Embry?"
My eyes fluttered open, but closed quickly to ward off the bright sunlight pouring inside. I was lying on my back, still on the couch but no longer sitting up. With my eyes still squeezed tightly shut, I turned my head and my nose was met with a soft tangle of hair. I sucked in a deep breath and drank in the undeniable scent of my imprint.
I could feel her hand snaking across my abdomen, my skin sparking from the contact. I groaned when her cheek brushed against my bare chest and my morning wood became even more firm. I smoothed my hand over her forearm, while the other ran down the length of her hair. "Morning," I sighed, my voice groggy from sleep.
Nicolle raised her head, tilting it up to gaze at me. A small, slow smile began to spread across her face before her whole body stiffened. She blinked quickly, reaching up to brush the sleep from her drowsy lids. "Where am I?"
I shifted to sit up against the arm of the couch a little, dragging her up with me because I loved how she felt resting on my bare chest. Shit. What happened to my shirt? I glanced around nervously, spying the bloody, torn mess on a heap on the coffee table. "This is my house," I finally blurted. "I couldn't wake you up to ask where you lived, so I brought you home."
I winced a little and played it off like a stiff neck, but in reality, I was lying and the imprint bond was punishing me. I knew where Nicolle lived. I had been following her home for weeks. I couldn't tell her that though. She seemed to accept the news that I was her imprint, but could she also stand to find out how my obsessive need to protect her had led me to follow her home and watch her bedroom window from a distance? The imprint bond made me do some crazy, stalker things, but bringing her here may have been the craziest.
"Oh."
I watched as her eyes darted nervously around the room. I fully expected her to jump up and run or demand I take her home immediately. So imagine my surprise when Nicolle leaned up, let her lips brush the shell of my ear, and whispered, "Thank you for taking care of me."
My whole body was buzzing and I couldn't stop the ridiculous grin on my face. I used my arms to drag her body on top of me. She rested her forearms on top of my chest and rested her chin on top of them. Her grin matched mine.  She was...happy? Happy to be here, happy to be with me, happy to be my imprint? I hoped for all three.
"You're really warm," she sighed as she gazed up at me dreamily. "No wonder you took your shirt off."
I couldn't stop smiling when Nicolle wrapped her arms around my neck and rested her cheek in the crook of my neck. I ran both hands up and down her back, loving the way she shivered at my touch. I jerked my hands back when my hands slid lower and instead of her pants, I felt the smooth fabric of her panties. "What the hell happened to your pants?" I croaked like a 15-year-old virgin.
Nicolle giggled and lifted off of me a bit. We both glanced down between us, but honestly my eyes diverted to her chest. She had worn home an over-sized scrub top as her bloody shirt and bra had been too destroyed to wear any longer. And I knew she wore a pair of borrowed gray sweats, but when she kicked out her leg, she showed me they were gone. "I guess I got hot," she blushed, her eyes trailing up my body and back to my eyes.
I couldn't glance up fast enough to hide the fact that I'd been staring down her shirt. She looked amused at my embarrassment, even snuggling a little closer to me. I held her body tightly to mine as I willed my morning wood to go the hell away. Shit, I was coming off like some sort of pervert. Even the sight of her bandaged chest was turning me on.
"Does it hurt?" I asked as I let my fingers drift over the bandage.
Nicolle shifted again, lying only half on top of me. She looked down at her injury and sighed. "Just a little sore from the stitches."
She captured my hand as I dragged it away, wrapping her fingers around mine as she pressed my palm to her breast. "Nicolle," I panted. "What are you doing?"
She held my hand in place as she peered up at me, her lashes fluttering adorably. "I'm sorry, Embry. I never meant to insult you when I asked about the girl you were dating." She paused and swallowed thickly, then continued, "I was honestly so torn about what to do. I couldn't stop thinking about you, but I couldn't let myself go there when I knew you loved someone else."
When Nicolle reached up to cup my face, I felt my eyes drift closed. I was still palming her breast, but too nervous to do anything else. "Are you even ready to move on so soon?" I heard her tiny voice say.
I let my thumb brush over her already stiff nipple before I responded. Her whole body clenched from the contact and my mind went wild with thoughts of how electric this could really be between us. The urge was right there. The need to shove her back and dive between her legs was consuming me. My whole body vibrated with need. "I'm ready for you, honey. I'm ready for us to be together with nothing standing in our way."
Okay, maybe my mind was totally in the gutter right now, but I meant what I said. I was ready for her. And the first step was a kiss. When she gazed up at me with her parted lips, I growled in anticipation. She was eager too. I smiled as she pushed her lithe body toward me and I moved to meet her halfway.
In that moment, I heard a brash knock at the door before it swung open. "Fucking hell, Embry. Were you just never coming to pick me up for work today? I mean…"
Paul's voice trailed off as he moved around the couch and caught a glimpse of our compromising position. His eyes went wide at the sight of Nicolle's panty covered backside. "Oh shit!" he exclaimed as his hand darted over his eyes. "I'm sorry, dude. I had no idea you had company!"
Nicolle laughed as she fumbled for the blanket on the floor and I struggled to get her covered. "Paul, what the fuck! Can't you pick up the phone like everyone else?"
I groaned in frustration as Nicolle shifted around to sit up, still laughing at Paul. "You can look now." I was relieved that she didn't freak out.
Paul was blushing ten shades of red and still wouldn't make eye contact with either of us. "Dude, I've been calling you for an hour. Your phone must be dead."
I glanced at my phone on the coffee table, vaguely remembering how low the battery was when we left the hospital. But I never plugged it when I got home, therefore he was probably right about it being dead. "My bad," I chuckled a halfass apology his way as I ran a hand through my hair and then pulled Nicolle into my lap.
She smiled up at me, cupping my jaw in her hand and brushing a thumb over my lower lip. My chest heaved in anticipation for the kiss that had yet to happen. Paul cleared his throat and smirked at me. "So...I take it you'll be needing a sick day then?"
I returned my attention to my beautiful imprinted and nodded. She laughed when I fake coughed into her neck and murmured, "Yeah, I'm really sick. Better go without me."
Paul chuckled to himself and wheeled back out the door. I leaned over Nicolle, pressing her back against the couch as I hovered over her.
"Now where were we?"

The guy turned to leave before looking back over his shoulder at the door, his hand on the door handle.
"If it makes any difference I would choose you over your brother any day." He winked as he left the room.
"What the actual fuck." You shout, storming out of the bathroom in a huff. "There's no way he's gunna stay quiet, it'll be all over the press come tomorrow." You paced the room, your heart beating fast as the adrenaline rushed through you. This was it, this was how it was all going to end. Liam would know as soon as he saw the headlines, all those late night and weekend conferences at the same time as Chris was conveniently away with work.
"To be fair, he does have good taste in men." Chris' usual nonchalance annoyed you, how come he could stay so calm? Why did he make you sound like a crazy person for actually worrying about what might happen.
"It's really not funny Chris, do you want our business known by strangers before we even have chance to speak to Liam and your Mom Chris, she's going to hate me." You feel the warm tears dripping down your cheeks before you even register you're crying. The thought of their mom hating you upsets you more than the thought of Liam hating you. Cathy, their mom was like your own mother, from day one she'd taken you under her wing.
"My Mom would love you no matter what, you know she thinks of you as her own daughter. It's me she's going to blame, Liam's her baby."
"Yeah you're probably right but still what are we gunna do?"
"Let's relax babe, you don't know what's going to happen and you can't change it if it does happen so what's the use in worrying about it. Come here."
"You piss me off Chris, you're so laid back. This isn't something you can just sweep under the carpet. It's serious." You needed to take your anger out on him, to let it all out so you could feel better. The four walls of the hotel room were becoming claustrophobic, you wish you could just put your headphones on and just run for a while to clear your head, that's what you usually did.
"I know it is but what can we do? I've done everything we can do, now it's out of our hands. We'll work it out tomorrow, can we enjoy our last night together without all the serious talk?" He raises his eyebrow at you, smiling that sweet, goofy smile of his that has your heart melting.
"You piss me off even more when you look at me like that. I can't stay mad at you and how could I say no to that?" You put your arms around his back, loving the way his height makes you feel so small and safe. He wraps his arms around you, stroking your hair and holding you close.
"That's why I love you yanno."
"Why?" You ask, looking up at him through your eyelashes, your neck stretching to reach his height.
"Because you never say no." He laughs, a real laugh that you can feel on his toned stomach, shaking against you. It was the best feeling hearing him laugh like that, it'd been so long since you'd heard him laugh. Your life being full of a lot of drama and upset recently that you were appreciative of the little time you had left together.
"Maybe I should start then." You pout pretending to sulk.
"No way, I love how easy you are." He picks you up so you can wrap your legs around him, looking down on him for once. You punch him lightly on his shoulder, still pouting. "Ok, ok I'll stop teasing. You know why I love you though."
"Tell me."
He sits down on the end of the bed with you still in his arms, resting on his great big, thick thighs. He moves your hair behind your ears so he can see your face, studying it carefully with a look of adoration in his eyes.
"I love you because you're absolutely drop dead gorgeous, I mean the first time I met you, you literally knocked the air from my lungs. I've been obsessed with you ever since." He shuffles slightly beneath you, getting himself comfy. "This would never have happened with just anyone, I'm not a dick that goes around sleeping with his brothers girls." You give him a questioning look, your eyebrows furrowing. "Seriously, it took fucking everything in me to try and resist you. I'd never felt that before, never been one of them that wants what they can't have. Until I met you. Fuck me you were an absolute bombshell." You frown at him. "Are, still are a bombshell, don't look at me like that." He laughs.
"Tell me more." You whisper, feeling yourself tear up at his revelations as you run your hand through his hair, his eyes closing as you do.
"Am I stroking your ego?" He smiles slyly. "Do you remember the first time you met me?"
"Of course I do, me and Liam had already been together a year but you'd been in Australia. I was eighteen, young and dumb..."
"And full of..."
"Do not even finish that sentence, you're ruining the moment." He laughs at you but quickly gets back to being serious.
"You were eighteen and ridiculously mature for your age, I was twenty six and still acted like a teenager. I remember you walking in in that little denim skirt and tank top, smiling at me with that beautiful smile. The first thing I noticed was your eyes, the way they lit up when you smiled. You had me right at that moment, I was smitten. Then you introduced yourself as Liam's girlfriend and my heart sank."
"I can't believe you remembered what i was wearing, it was twelve years ago." You kiss his forehead, holding his face in your hands. So glad you had the opportunity to talk like this, knowing all this made you know you hadn't made a mistake. "I was so nervous walking up to you, I'd only ever seen you on photos and crushing on you when you were in home and away. Then you're there in front of me looking sexy as hell and I knew I had to make a good impression."
"Little did you know, five years later I'd be bending you over that table and giving you everything you'd been searching for?" He questioned, raising his eyebrow at you with a smirk.
"No, dick! Little did I know you'd sweep me off my feet and make me question everything I ever knew."
"I am a dick but that's why you love me isn't it?"
"Your ego definitely doesn't need stroking. I fell in love with Liam when I was still a girl and I fell in love with you when I was a woman. People change, needs change and..."
"And I give you everything you need." His hand travelled to your ass pulling you into him, pressing against his growing erection.
"You do, you need to work on your arrogance though." You laugh. "But seriously I'm done with all this now, we can't go on like this anymore. I want all of you, all of the time."
"So you've made your decision." His lips part, his head resting against your forehead.
"Was there ever any doubt?" You question, running your finger over his lip and grinding against him subtly making him groan.
"Fuck Y/N, I fucking love you so much it's crazy." He says through gritted teeth, holding the small of your back as you raise your hips, your face contorting with need. "What would you do if I asked you to marry me?" His hand travelled down the back of your shorts, cupping your ass in his hands.
"What do you think?" You tease, taking his bottom lip in your teeth and pulling gently.
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking." His face was set seriously, he wasn't joking, he wanted to marry you.
"Of course I'd say yes, once we'd dealt with everything." You smile watching his face light up.
"You're going to be Mrs Hemsworth and mine, not Liam's. I can't fucking wait." He picks you up, gripping your ass making you squeel before planting you back on the bed on your back.
Leaning over you, his palm caressing your stomach, kneeding your breasts with his long fingers. His erection poking into your clothed heat.
"You're so fucking perfect, are you ready to cause destruction?"
"Like now, in bed or?..."
"You know what I mean." He laughs, reaching down to attach his lips to your neck, sucking gently.
"If it means I get you then yeah, I'm ready."
"Right answer. You've made me the happiest fucking man in the world yanno?" His hand moves under your top, pushing it up to your chin as his lips finally meet yours. Kissing you deeply with everything he's got, your body rising from the bed to meet his.
"I think... I can... Make you even happier." You say between kisses, pushing down his boxers, your nails scratching his skin gently as you do.
He rests on one elbow watching you free his cock from its barrier. You cup his balls in your hand, stroking along the length of his cock with the other. He groans, pushing himself into your hands.
"I'll be happier once I'm buried inside this perfect pussy." He kneels between your legs, pulling your panties off before hovering back over you.
"Go slow baby, I want to feel everything." You whisper.
"Fuck, I can't guarantee how long I'll last." He moans, lining himself up and slipping in making you both moan as his cock stretches your walls perfectly.
He rests on his elbows, holding your face in his hands as he gently thrusts into you, wrapping your legs around him and pushing him in further, deeper. Hitting your spot with the curl of his hips, agonisingly slowly. You look into each others eyes, his forehead resting against yours. Tears in your eyes from the intense intamacy.
"I love you Y/N." He declares gruffly, his voice deep with lust.
"I love you too." You whimper.
Moaning everytime his thighs connected with yours, flesh slapping together, bringing your hips up to meet him. Him grunting with every thrust, your sex noises filling the otherwise silent room. The sound like a symphony to your ears, turning you on even more to hear his exclamations of ecstacy.
"It's always been you Chris." You whisper, making his pace become sloppy, losing his composure and restraint at your words. You can see it on his face as it twists, his cock twitching inside of you.
"Come for me baby." He grits his teeth, the muscles in his jaw tightening as his body goes rigid.
"Ah fuck." He brings you over the edge with the last of his powerful thrusts, your legs shaking around him, the feeling of satisfaction melting through your body simultaneously. A proud look on his face as you both come together and he falls limply onto your sweat laced body.
You stay like that for a while, both enjoying the moment, his cock still twitching inside of you. The heaviness of his body burying you into the mattress but you don't complain.
You don't want him to move, you want to memorise the feel of his heaviness and how his cock feels inside of you. How his rough face feels against your smooth skin, his hair tickling under your chin. You trace the muscles on his back, the defined shoulders and lean waist. Your hands gripping his tight, round ass and you close your eyes, remembering every dip and ripple, dreading the thought of being without him in your arms for at least another couple of weeks.
"I don't know how I'm going to watch you walk away tomorrow." He rolls on to his side, pulling you into him. "I think that's the hardest thing to deal with out of everything."
"I was just thinking the same thing." You looked up at him through your eyelashes, your fingers brushing against his tight pecs. "You know we've been doing this for nearly 6 years now and I don't think I've ever felt as close to you as I do now. It's going to be even harder for me to leave this time."
"I don't even want to think about it but we only have hours left together, what's our plan?"
"You mean when and how do we tell Liam?" You ask sitting cross legged in the bed, reality kicking back in. You have to go home to Liam and leave Chris all over again, back to the lies and sneaking about.
"That and when am I going to be able to see you again? I don't want to wait as long as last time, you know how crazy i start getting when I don't see you."
"We've got your cousin's wedding next week. I'll see you there." You risk a glance at him, pain set on his face.
"You'll see me but you'll be arm in arm with Liam and I'll be alone again."
"How about once the weddings over and done with, we can tell Liam about us?" You watch his face change, like a little boy.
"A week? I can do that, I think. But I'm not going to the wedding alone."
"What do you mean? A date? With who?" Panic laced in your voice.
"I don't know but I'm sure I won't be short of options."
"Are you fucking with me? Liam thinks you're dating a married woman, where you going to find one of those?"
"I don't know but I'm not turning up to a family party on my own again, my aunties can be fucking brutal."
"Well don't expect to playing all happy families and me being all nice." You sulk.
"Are you jealous?"
"Yeah, duhh."
"Come here." He pulls you into arms wrapping his legs around yours. Comfortable silence drifting over you both as he strokes your hair and you fall asleep in his arms.
***********
You wake up in the morning smiling, then remembering what day it is and that you have to leave to go back to boring reality and your smile fades. Chris stirring beside you, his muscly arm resting over your stomach, locking you in place.
"Chris, wake up." You whisper in his ear, admiring his sleepy, perfect face. "It's 9.30 we've gotta check out at 10." He makes an unrecognisable sound of exasperation, his eyes opening, puffy with sleep or lack of in this case.
"Aww man, can't we just stay in bed a little longer, I don't wanna let you go."
"You need to go check out first so we don't leave the hotel at the same time."
"Fuck sake. Back to reality it is then." He says all hint of jokiness gone from his tone as he sits up and rubs his eyes.
"I'm afraid so, I need to go grab my things. Text me when you've left please."
"Wow! I feel used, do I not even get a kiss before you run out on me?"
"I was just dealing with the business before I dealt with the pleasure, like I'd just leave without giving you a kiss." You threw yourself on him, wrapping your legs around him as he leant against the headboard. Taking his lips in yours, open mouthed kisses that left you both breathless.
*****
You packed up the couple of things you'd actually taken out of your pull along suitcase, you'd spent most of the weekend naked or slobbing about in Chris' t-shirts so all your clothes were still folded and packed.
You were anxious about going home to Liam and having to pretend again, having to try and not slip up about where you'd actually been. You literally had to go through possible conversations in your mind, conjuring up imagined answers to Liam's possible questions so you didn't get caught out. It was hard work.
Then you got the text from Chris telling you he was out of the hotel and on the road back home, followed by how much of a good weekend he'd had and how much he loves you.
You couldn't help having a spring to your step as you walked through the lobby, a weekend full of love making and reminiscing would have that effect on anyone.
After you'd checked out, the anxiety set in, like stepping out of this hotel would be like stepping in to an alternate universe. A universe that wasn't simple and easy like it had been this weekend but stepping through those revolving doors would mean that will all end. This safe feeling of being alone, away from prying eyes would end as soon as you stepped foot outside and it did, a ominous feeling sweeping over you, goosebumps covering your flesh. Maybe you conjured up the feeling in your own mind, manifesting it into existence but you couldn't shake it.
A feeling of being watched, was it your imagination or not? You didn't know, all you knew was how much you wanted to get out of public and back home. As you stood in front of the hotel, picking up your suitcase to carry it down the stairs, something caught your eye. A flash. And then another flash coming from your peripheral.

Lover of Mine - Draco Malfoy/Luna Lovegood; postwar
Tumblr media
Based off the song “Lover of Mine,” by 5 Seconds of Summer (https://youtu.be/iTQjrThcY6o)
Pairing: Draco Malfoy and Luna Lovegood
Word count: 2692
(A/N: Hello! Thank you for whoever takes the time to read this. I adore this song and I adore Druna. This is my first time posting anything like this on here. Enjoy!)
“Lover of mine, maybe we'll take some time. Kaleidoscope mind, gets in the way. Hope and I pray, darling, that you will stay. Butterfly lies, chase them away…”
Draco settled into the deep crimson chair as his stormy eyes followed the ray of sunshine before him; he wasn’t sure what she had been doing, though he knew better than to question her - instead, he laid back, admired, and let his mind roam. His long, pointy nose scrunched up as she reached into her box and pulled out a jar of Merlin-knows-what, she placed it onto a massive wooden desk as she hummed peacefully. The jar consisted of what he assumed to be a tiny, bug-like creature; he swallowed the urge to demand her to throw it away. He knew, reluctantly, that he had to be patient and understanding with her (two words that nobody other than Luna herself would use to describe Draco), for it was going to take some time for them to adapt to their new life of living together. While he could never truly understand, Luna’s kaleidoscope mind was what he loved most about her. Her mind was bright, colorful, and ever changing - he could never keep up, no matter how fast he ran. She always had something interesting to say, which almost always left him at a loss for words. Draco was what he considered ‘practically intelligent’, but he could never compare himself to her wonder and knowledge.
In Hogwarts, most students had known the Ravenclaw as ‘Loony Lovegood’ - the thought made Draco’s heart twinge, for he had been the one to curse her with the name many years ago; at the time, he had never expected the dreamy eyed girl to dance her way into his cold, lifeless heart. He had always been nasty to her, even after he fell for her in his sixth year. Though he loved her kaleidoscope mind, it always seemed to get in the way. With the overwhelming pressure from his parents, fellow Death Eaters, and the Dark Lord, he made Luna swear to keep their love affair a secret. A disgrace in his eyes, star-crossed lovers in hers. He would continue to spew hurtful and hateful words at her in front of his Slytherin mates, criticizing her strange clothing (that he loved so dearly), her peculiar behavior (that made his heart skip a beat), and of course, the fact that she was a Bloodtraitor. The corners of his mouth raised slightly as he recalled a night in the Room of Requirement, a very long time ago…
“I’m so, so sorry Luna,” Draco pressed a kiss to her temple, pain evident in his silver eyes. “I didn’t mean those awful words - you know that, don’t you, Luna? I adore your lion headdress, I adore those radish earrings, I - I adore you.” He pleaded. If Pansy, Blaise, or Theo had heard these words, he would have been as good as dead.
Luna only smiled brightly at him, “Oh Draco, of course I know. Those are only butterfly lies.”
“Butterfly lies?” He questioned, his arm wrapping around her waist to pull her close. He felt relieved that she knew he hadn’t meant what he said, and that he had to pull a show in front of his classmates.
Her smile was as dreamy as her eyes, letting Draco know that she truly was okay. “A butterfly lie. Something small, meaningless. The lie flutters away as soon as it leaves your lips, such as a butterfly. You have to say those lies, so that nobody knows how you really feel…” her eyes fell down to his left arm, where she knew his Dark Mark lay. Draco didn’t say a word, he simply pulled her frame into his and laid his rough lips upon her soft ones. He hoped and prayed that she meant every word she said, and that she’d stay with him until the end.
-
“Dance around the living room, lose me in the sight of you; I've seen the red, I've seen the blue, take all of me. Deep to where your secrets hide, where we've been a thousand times, swallow every single lie. Take all of me…”
He stood slowly, eyes still focused on his love before him. She had unpacked her entire box of strange jars and little trinkets, and was about to move onto the next box when a gentle hand reached out for her. Luna stumbled slightly as she was pulled into a pair of strong arms, and Draco couldn’t help but notice the concerned look on her face. He lifted a hand to her cheek and caressed her pink skin, “Is everything okay?” His eyes examined her over, just to make sure.
“Oh, I’m quite alright - I just can’t seem to find my left shoe. It’s my very favorite left shoe,” before she could finish her sentence, he spoke again.
“Perhaps the Nargles have taken it. Never mind that for now… dance with me, Luna, will you?” His hands settled on her waist.
Luna laughed sweetly at his response, her expression lit up the room. She knew that Draco thought the existence of Nargles was nonsense, though she thoroughly appreciated his gesture. “Dance with you? I thought you’d never ask.” Her slender arms wrapped around his neck and rested her head onto his chest. He swayed them back and forth; they danced to no music, only to the sound of gentle footsteps and racing heartbeats.
The Room of Requirement had been Draco and Luna’s favorite spot the year they fell in love. To Luna, it had been a bright and wonderful room where they could escape and truly be themselves. It was where Draco would lay his head on her lap for hours, as she spoke of her father’s theories and her childhood memories. They had been there a thousand times, though it had never settled well with Draco. Sure, he loved meeting with her, but it would only remind him of how awful he truly was. The Room of Requirement was a room deep where their secrets could hide, it swallowed every single lie.
One late night, deep in the Room of Requirement, Draco had been pacing the room as Luna was settled on the couch, fiddling with the butterbeer cap necklace around her neck. “Why do you stay, Luna?” Anger fired through his voice. “I’m not a good person! I’m sick, I’m twisted! I’m vile and I’m a bloody coward…” his voice faltered at the end, tears brimmed his eyes as though they were afraid to fall. Luna sprung to her feet in a hurry and was soon by his side.
“It’s okay to feel broken, Draco. It’s normal to think nasty things about yourself sometimes… but it’s not true, you know.” She reached out for his hand, he felt his nerves instantly calm. “You are everything, Draco. You matter, you matter to me. You are strong, determined, and kind-”
“Kind!” Draco scoffed, but immediately lowered when he watched her flinch out of the corner of his eye.
“Your head must be filled with Wrackspurts, Draco, because you are certainly confused on how amazing you just are.” Her small hand squeezed his.
His defeated eyes fell, three single tears slid down his pale face. He lifted his head to meet her eyes, “Take all of me?” His voice was broken and helpless.
Luna pulled him into her arms, and placed a kiss at the top of his head. “Always,” she whispered.
-
“I'll never give you away, 'cause I've already made that mistake. If my name never fell off your lips, again, I know it'd be such a shame. When I take a look at my life and all of my crimes, you're the only thing that I think I got right. I'd never give you away, 'cause I've already made, already made that mistake…”
Draco allowed a soft chuckle to leave his lips as they danced their way across the floor of their recently purchased cottage; they did their best to not trip over any items that have yet to be put away. He gazed lovingly down at his Ravenclaw, feeling a sense of peace and serenity. The war had come to an end just a little over a year before, yet he was still adjusting to his new way of living. He would have done just about anything for his Luna, including a dreadful dinner party with Potter, Granger, and the Weasley clan. He would feed into her theories, he’d allow her to decorate their home however she pleased. Everyday he took a step closer to being the man his father never wanted him to become, and he was proud of it.
Luna looked around their half-furnished home, an astonished look dancing in her eyes. The reality hadn’t fully settled in on her yet; today they would start a brand new chapter of their lives. Though she always seemed so happy and bright, she carried a set of doubts and worries with her, just as anyone else would. She peered up at Draco, “Perhaps it could be the Nargles… but this just doesn’t feel real…” Her voice was light and airy, despite the worried look in her eyes. “I’m afraid this isn’t real, Draco. I’m afraid you’ll leave me again, and that this will all crumble down before us.”
Draco’s smile fell as his hand moved from her waist to underneath her chin, tilting her head up to look at her soft features. “Luna, I’ll never give you away…’cause I already made that mistake. I was a proper git, but I promise to you that I’ve learned from my past…” He felt his heart break as she remembered the pain he drug her through.
“If my name never fell off your lips again…” Luna felt small tears slide down her cheek, suddenly too overwhelmed with worry to finish her thought.
“I know it’d be such a shame; but Luna, that will never, ever happen.” He raised his hand to settle on her cheek, he wiped away her tears as he did so. “When I take a look at my life, and all of my crimes, you’re the only thing that I think I got right. I will never make that mistake again.” He embraced her into his arms and left a kiss at the top of her head.
“Lover of mine, I know you're color-blind. I've watched the world fall from your eyes. Ohh, ooh, ooh. All my regrets and things you can't forget, light them all up, kiss them goodbye…”
Draco held her as close as he could manage, allowing her to have her moment of weakness. He had hurt her very badly in the past, and yet she was still color-blind to who he truly was. He had always viewed himself as a monster, a horrible person who didn’t deserve someone as soft and sweet as his Luna. She was color-blind; she only saw the good in his heart, the good that nobody else had ever been able to see before. She had been through so much, no matter how much he tried to protect her from the world. He watched the world fall from her silvery eyes the day she found out her father died, leaving her an orphan in the midst of a fiery war. There were very few people Draco had cared for, but Luna - she cared for everyone, and she had lost too many of the people she cared for at the hands of a Lord he had once served. He wanted more than anything to take away what he had done, to take away her pain.
Luna lifted her head slowly, and behind her tear stained face, was the same happy girl he had always known. “I’m sorry for crying, Draco. I love you, and I trust you.” She ran a gentle hand through his blonde hair.
“But, all of my regrets and the things you can’t forget-,” Before he could finish, her lips had crashed onto his. He pulled her closer, allowing the kiss to linger for a few more moments, but too soon had she pulled away.
She smiled at him defiantly, “We’ll light them up and kiss them goodbye,” Luna leaned in for another kiss.
“Dance around the living room, lose me in the sight of you. I've seen the red, I've seen the blue, take all of me. Deep to where your secrets hide, where we've been a thousand times, swallow every single lie. Take all of me...”
As much as Draco wanted to get lost in the sight of her, his past relentlessly haunted him. Though the healthy and beautiful girl shined before him, he could see the red, see the blue…
“Come on Draco! Do it! Curse that witch, do it for us Draco! Curse that filthy blood traitor!” His aunt Bellatrix wickedly laughed as she skipped around the main room of the Malfoy Manor. Draco raised his wand, doing everything he could to stop his hand from shaking, and to make the fear leave his eyes. Luna Lovegood was tied up in the center of the room, her clothes filthy with dirt. He couldn’t stand the sight of red blood and purpley-blue bruises that covered her skin. He wanted so badly to take her and run away to somewhere safe and sound - but he couldn’t. If he didn’t do this, the Dark Lord would have the both of them killed.
“Go on Draco,” his father encouraged, an evil smirk on his thin lips.
Luna’s sad eyes met his and she gave the smallest of nods, as if to tell him to do it. He knew if she could, she would tell him to curse her, and that everything was going to be okay.
“Crucio!” Draco shouted as he flicked his hawthorn wood wand, immediately looking away from her. He couldn’t dare to watch her, the painful screams that left her lips were punishment enough.
Bellatrix approached Draco and roughly turned his head to take in the scene before him, she held his head as strongly as she could. “Oh come on, nephew! Have a little fun, watch her squirm!” Draco bit back the tears as the love of his life screamed helplessly, withering and spasming as every inch of her body filled with the most unimaginable pain. “I love you,” he mouthed to her. He now understood why it had been called an Unforgivable Curse.
“I'll never give you away, 'cause I've already made that mistake. If my name never fell off your lips, again, I know it'd be such a shame. When I take a look at my life and all of my crimes, you're the only thing that I think I got right. I'd never give you away, 'cause already made, already made that mistake.”
Draco quickly shook the nightmarish memory from his mind and focused on what was in his arms. Together, they would forget the past and live out their happy ending. All that mattered now was that Voldemort was gone, his father was in Azkaban, and that they could be together freely. Luna was no longer in pain, and she was living happily in the cottage he had bought for them. He stepped away from her, causing her arms to fall to her sides. “I’ll never lose you again, Luna.” He shoved his hand in his pants pocket as he fiddled for something. “You are my everything; you are my love, my best friend, my reason to live. You’re the reason I can stand being in the same room as Potter and Weasley,” He joked with a small chuckle. He watched as her pale cheeks painted a light shade of pink. “You are the most beautiful woman to ever grace me, you are the reason I breathe. Luna, you are the reason I am no longer ashamed of who I am.”
“Oh Draco,” Luna gasped as she watched the man before her pull out a navy velvet box from his pocket.
Draco moved down onto his right knee, he opened the box to reveal the most stunning ring Luna had ever seen. “Take all of me?”
