Where do you get your ideas for the original characters in your stories? Like Leo in Custody, or Keaton and Dove from K7? Is there a specific way you develop them? You always have such interesting OC's who have a purpose that fits so well even into established fandom. 💜
Thank you, that's such a lovely thing to say! 🥹🥹💜
They're always built to purpose - so although I didn't know I was doing more than a one-shot with Custody, Leo was there to define Spider's character. He's the mouthy one in class, which probably suggests he's popular to some extent and then you see that he's friends with Spider. But also Spider isn't the one misbehaving. And then later, it was easy to develop him into the one that gets Spider into trouble, because I wanted Spider to have that phone on him, but I also want him to be a toe-the-line kind of kid with the adults in his life and that's not the sort of person who's going to disobey Delgado and take his phone.
And then similar ideas with the K7 characters. I wanted someone to be Jungkook's way of getting a message home, but not someone he really knew and they were going to a club that was LGBT friendly, so it worked in well that Soobin was someone he'd kissed before but Soobin couldn't be at risk of looking like a romantic interest, and any BTS fic is always top-heavy with male characters, so Dove made complete sense. And then having her and Soobin be the healthy relationship was a good contrast. Someone had to work as Julian's staff and having someone like Keaton who clearly cared about Jungkook but also was sort of aware of Julian's 'issues' and was kind of grappling with that in the background was interesting too!

Just let women be evil 😈
Been seeing some discussion around how the Netflix Avatar made some changes to Azula and tried to paint her in a less evil light and more as some poor child that got manipulated by her dad to be the monster she would eventually become.
And that's... Honestly a little lame imo.
Azula being a heartless monster was one of the many cool things about her, but now it feels like we're giving credit to her dad instead.
Like, she was the golden child, but she wasn't daddy's little submissive pet. A lot of what she did, she did it not because "she wanted to please daddy" but because she's just a little sh*t. Heck, she even manipulates her own father at one point, making him think Zuko killed the Avatar so she wouldn't get any blame when it was revealed he was still alive.
Ozai was the final boss, but Azula is basically the face of the show when it comes to villains. She was the bane of everyone's existence.
Having nuance and layers is nice, but sometimes I just want a lady who just loves being evil for the pettiest of reasons like wanting power, being salty for not getting what she wanted, or just because it's in her sadistic nature.
And, yeah, we have cases like Demona who you could argue is a victim of the circumstances she's in, or, again, Azula, who was practically raised to be evil, but you can't deny they clearly enjoy being bad and doing bad things to others.
Let women just be evil, and let them own their evilness.
