These albums in the vein of Supernatural work. I mean, they get their jobs done, though the musicians who make them should be wary of them. Ask Chicago about what happens afterwards. Yes, they went through their Supernatural phase from Chicago 16 to the end of the 80's. Still, we shouldn't hold the platters from the period against them, they merely wished to be relevant again. Thus, their success with Chicago 16 caused them to rethink their sonic approach and they began to chase the success. However, I am not sure what else they could've done then, they were a group for the 60's and the 70's, the 80's had no use for them, unless they went crazily current. Of course, their peers had the same dilemmas, i.e. they gained their biggest sales with the discs few admire.

The original 'The Outer Limits' – sixties SF TV on MGM+
Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We have control of your streaming app. We have provided you with access to The Outer Limits (1963-1964), the original incarnation of the TV science fiction anthology series. It wasn’t the first such program and it was always in the shadow of its more literate (and more popular) cousin The Twilight Zone, but the hour-long The Outer Limits made its mark on the…

— ❝ oh, you are just the cutest! ❞
he found the way you looked, the way you did anything, the moment you first entered into his life, he thought of the word 'adorable'! nothing describes you better, but it's not like you aren't beautiful or whatever! it's because you really are just cute! your features, your personality. from your silky smooth hair (or not smooth), and your perfect body (at least to him because in every aspect you're beautiful + cute), he just thinks "oh you're just so cute, and lovable, and endearing, sweet, cute, delightful, enchanting, and agreeable to everyone that comes across you (or not everyone, at least most!!) that you are very adorable!" just wants to squish the hell out of you, whether chubby, thin, or other body types, he just will! really squeezes you when you both cuddle or hug, just melts when he feels your body against him too :3

could write a book filled with poems just about you and publish it to the public to declare his love. and it's not just about your looks, your personality, the way you talk, when you both make skin-on-skin contact or whatever, you are an exquisite delicacy that he probably would believe that you aren't in his league. would pull out a dictionary and use every word that is a synonym to the word beautiful and direct it at you. you are ethereal to him, whether you'd be in your pjs, or a fancy dress, or even wearing one of his clothes, you are beautiful. you are heaven reincarnated as a person to him. would definitely recite those poetic pickup lines from tiktok to you on dates, ironically, and unironically at the same time, yes he thinks they're funny, but he really thinks of you like that. "if i were to describe your embrace, it'd be a heaven no hell can disturb." would fall to his knees and start praying to god that he can rest peacefully now that he's seen heaven as a joke.

"Michael... But I'm no innocent! In my hubris, I drove an innocent man-- Michael Landau-- to hang himself in his cell. In my grief and rage, I destroyed an entire country! I killed innocent beings! What sins did the children commit who died that day?! How am I better than those I was sent to judge?!.. I have failed to understand. Amy tried to teach me and I wouldn't hear. Without mercy, there is no justice-- only vengeance. I must confront evil and understand better the darkness, the evil, within my own soul."

Some musicians' cover songs reveal a plan for their careers as they decided to present some interesting tunes with their own versions of them. I agree, Laura Branigan probably didn't intend to do her own variants of so many compositions, yet her entire opus ended up being full of them. One of her biggest hits is this, well, ballad, I guess? I am not really sure how to see this tune, though I have the same problem with the original. They are both somehow an expression of the urban paranoia one can feel during the nights. However, we are never sure, on whether or not either Raf or Laura Branigan embrace this. While the entire piece remains an enigma we cannot answer for sure, Branigan infuses her edition with a certain determination Raf is afraid to show for … reasons?

Radical manager against conservative artist: Jon Landau / Bruce Springsteen, Cover me. Landau loved its modern sheen
'The times are tough now, just getting tougher This old world is rough, it's just getting rougher Cover me, come on baby, cover me Well, I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me'
"Radical manager against conservative artist: Bruce Springsteen was indifferent to the track from the start, often outright hostile to it. It struck him as too light, too pop, too obvious. These were among its virtues, Jon Landau insisted, and anyway, none of that belied the intensity with which Bruce whipped home the crucial line: “Wrap your arms around and cover me!”
youtube
Bruce Springsteen: Cover Me (Live at LA Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA - September 1985)
"Meantime, a friend of Landau’s, record executive David Geffen, asked if Bruce would be interested in writing a song for Donna Summer, who had just been signed to Geffen’s label. Summer was recording her first album with producer Quincy Jones, who was hot off making Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall. There was even some talk of Bruce and Donna performing a duet. It was an intriguing idea: the King of Rock and Roll recording with the Queen of Disco. Bruce wasn’t entirely certain how he wanted to proceed, but he did write a song. While in the studio with Bonds, he gathered the E Street Band for a demo session. When Jon Landau heard the result, a song called “Cover Me,” combining Springsteen’s rock combustion with a sledgehammer version of the typical Summer dance beat, he smelled a hit."
...
"While making Born in the U.S.A., this conflict centered around one song, “Cover Me.” Landau says he knew the song belonged in the next (rock) album the moment he heard what was supposed to be nothing more than a tossed-off demo. Bruce was indifferent to the track from the start, often outright hostile to it. It struck him as too light, too pop, too obvious. These were among its virtues, Landau insisted, and anyway, none of that belied the intensity with which Bruce whipped home the crucial line: “Wrap your arms around and cover me!” Although the song was closer to pop than rock—and in its rhythms closer to postdisco dance music than either—it had a stinging guitar solo. Landau loved its modern sheen; Bruce knew its value—he’d created it, after all—but he wasn’t sure what it said about him. The more anachronistic shape of his soul and rockabilly-based tunes was secure and comforting. In all their discussions about the album, Landau kept dredging up “Cover Me” and Bruce kept kicking it back under the rug, radical manager against conservative artist."

Which Tim Burton movies do you still like? Which do you think are overhyped? And which do you think are just bad?
best tim burton movies (in order):
beetlejuice (this and edward scissorhands are probably his most interesting, unique, and original films)
batman returns (probably his best adaptation of an existing media in how he was able to blend his style with characters that weren't his own)
edward scissorhands (in which burton accidentally stumbled into making one of the best cinematic explorations of autism and physical disabilities)
batman 1989 (michael keaton is neck-and-neck with robert pattison for my favorite live action batman)
ed wood (loved martin landau as bela lugosi)
sleepy hollow (one of the best halloween/autumn movies out there)
overhyped: i gotta say corpse bride is pretty overhyped. like it's fine but the pacing is awkward and the story is clumsy and a bit boring.
honestly i feel like most of the movies that he's made that are adaptations of a previous piece of media or existing ideas are pretty hit or miss. like miss peregrine was mediocre but alice in wonderland was good (in it's own way). batman was amazing but wednesday is pretty reductive. tim burton's greatest tool is his creativity so when he's forced to kinda fold to fit whatever preexisting story is already in place it can take away from the authenticity.
side note: batman returns is severaly underrated and underappreciated in my opinion. i love what they did with penguin i think it's such a fun, unique take on the character and danny devito's performance makes the whole movie. definitely in my top four batman villain performances.
also i say all of this with heavy criticism towards tim burton because of his comments regarding casting black actors in his films (how he shouldn't have to cause it wouldn't fit his aesthetic or whatever the fuck he was trying to say) and just cause the dude's vibes are off imo

gepard playlist continued part 3 ( or something )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
home. livingston.
talking about identity through the lens of expectations held by other's could be directed at his family ( his father mostly ) or just the expectations encompassed by his duty. I really think that the guard are often revered as heroes but when it comes down to it they're just men. when it said will I make them proud enough, or am I worth the love. it can be directed at the recognition given by others to him and if he's worthy of that again circling back to expectations but this is more an expectation imposed by himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you said you'd grow old with me. michael schulte.
this is a sad song reflecting on loss and grief which is of course a reoccurring theme throughout alot of gepard's playlist. this could be regarding a specific loss but he has experienced numerous losses of comrades in arms over the years he's spent as part of the guard. the second verse sort of touching on perhaps the optimism that they may have had when they first rose to the rank of silvermane guard and how that has changed in the present.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
gilded lily. cults. the every city's got a graveyard, a service bought and paid for talking about lives lost and the sacrifice which is demanded of them. now i'm sleeping in the backyard bit is a little more vague but like in my delulu mind i was like ah yes sleeping in the barracks versus actually being able to return home. and then the haven't i given enough over and over just speaks volumes to what he has given up in order to protect belobog, the self sacrifice which makes up a cardinal part of who gepard is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
family line. conan gray. this song !! right here !! can fit so much trauma inside of it. implicating that the landau name is inescapable, an intrinsic part of gepard will always be his family's name. i really do feel like gepard looks quite a lot like his father but when I listen to this i'm like saying he has his sister's eyes when he cries like ugh yes. someone who loves you wouldn't do this ??? ugh.then the last bit where it says we might share a face and a last name but we are not the same reflecting being able to separate a concept of identity away from his family and the correlating expectations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
reluctant heroes ( cover ) . amalee. more !!! battle !!! trauma as a treat. that's really all I can think to say about this song actually the lyrics sort of speak for themselves. other then the bit where it says give me your strength ?? gep at the head of battle ?? as the shield ?? using that strength for protecting his comrades ?? yes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
andrew. ben platt. I already posted this one but it sort of encompasses that sense of loving someone but not knowing if it's alright to, if it will be rejected, the experience of hurting because you cannot love who and how you want to. also gepard is huge into pretty eyes so that line where it says one look in his eyes and i'm gone is ??? him god it's so him.
