#i LOVE linework but any time i do it digitally it doesnt look right so im gonna try doing it tradigitally #inking it and doing everything irl and colouring it and editing it digitally #cus i think that would work out for me #im far far stronger with my skills in traditional art even though the differences are slowly cathing up to each other #but the LINEWORK #NEVER LOOKS RIGHT #i can easily control my lines with fineliners and chisel shape sharpies and fountain pens but like #there isn't a brush for me digitally that can match up to what I do irl #PLUS ITS FASTER AND LESS EYE STRAINING #i mean in animation i'd have to do EVERYTHING digitally but thats fine tbh #there's always stabilisers and good time for cleanup #but illustratively and MAKING AND PUBLISHING MORE ART (which i NEED to do) wise? Anyone else a farm kid here? Something I did while staying inside these past few months (Feb-July 2020) Line was animated tradigitally in flash, then painted traditionally (I printed on photo paper cards and then painted in a gouache/acrylic mix) scanned, coloured the line in flash and added some lighting in After FX. Anyways this is a completely wild way to do this but here's the results! Hope everyone is safe and doing their best by Diane Aarts

These are all my notes I made when I overviewed the project brief. I chose my dimensions and had a quick research of the song I chose to illustrate.

I've actually been working with a music artist who's just starting out and I'm trying to design some album covers so this project is going to be super helpful on looking at album covers and compiling ideas together. Here are a few covers I quite liked the look off.

I also had a look at some band merch designs and compiled them into a collage so that it would be easily applied on Tumblr due to the 10 photo limit.

The song I chose talks about how death is similar to love. This is what I found about the context of the song. It's another person's interpretation but I looked everywhere and couldn't find the lyricist's comment on it.

Above are my thumbnails for the album cover. I wanted to explore the theme of both love and death. I had some gory ones but the one I liked the most was the one with bright poppy colours mostly because it has the best contrast.

Beneath I will be attaching some thumbnails for my other illustrations and of course some more refined tradigital visuals. Afterwards I am planning to finish the full illustrations digitally.

just read the ask about how u do a lot of the art on paper and i cant wrap my head around it..... upon closer inspection i think i can tell which ones but, how do u color them?? the coloring looks totally digital its amazing. ur an incredible artist btw (also sry if these are dumb questions i am NOTan artist haha)

No no it’s not a dumb question! I forgot to mention I colour the traditional ones digitally! I do use watercolours sometimes, but these are basically tradigital! Sorry, it’s my bad I forgot to include that there D:

Did another artwork the way I used to: the tradigital way. The process was kinda tedious, because I can't fit the entire drawing in one A4-size paper, and my scanner can't scan any size bigger than that. So, I had to draw the elements in the drawing separately (character, each wing, the sword thingies) scan, then colour digitally. I didn’t expect that it would get bigger than A3 or B3 size tho! (see first image)
