ring pop proposal ♡
Tumblr media
fem reader, pure fluff, childhood friends to lovers lemme alone do not perceive me yk the drill by now, lil self indulgent fic cus i love childhood friends to lovers and puppy crushes, polar opposite’s trope, this reeks of my oc x canon katsu ship sooooo shh shh do not perceive.
Tumblr media
the first person who realizes katsuki has a crush on you is his mom because when she comes to pick him up one day from kindergarten he suddenly mentions you. it’s an innocent little interaction he had with you that mitsuki doesn’t think much about at first, simply surprised her son managed to befriend someone outside of his little group of friends until he starts mentioning you more and more.
soon you’re the only thing he talks about and katsuki even starts begging her to have you come over to play. mitsuki is extremely curious to know what kind of person you are to have been able to enchant her son the way you have, she says it’s fine as long as you’re parents agree.
you’re a sweet little thing, almost the complete opposite of her little devil’s spawn. you’re polite and a little shy when you ask “ is it okay if i come to play at katsu’s house, please miss katsuki’s mom ?” and how could she say no to you ? she pulls at your cheek lovingly and her son almost snarls at her.
“no touchin’ !” he snarks, pulling you against him like you were his teddy bear.
mitsuki was the first to realize her son had a crush on you when you were always around. when he found something cool during a class trip you were there and whenever he was upset it was always because you had argued about something irrelevant that seemed so much bigger in the eyes of a child.
she realized because katsuki had, and in some ways, will always be rowdy. he’s rough and temperamental and moody—basically, he can be quite the brat. (she wonders where he gets that from a lot) but he’s different with you.
he’ll always be a little rough around the edges but it’s the thought that counts. he drags you around a little too hard but it's to show you something he knows you'd like and you repay him by being patient with him and letting him drag you around to his hearts content. he let’s you use the crayons he’d just denied another classmate seconds ago and when it’s really early in the morning and you’re still sleepy unlike your more energetic friend, he waits for you. sitting with you in the reading corner quietly commenting on a little bit of everything in the book you’re sharing until you’re awake enough to start the day because katsuki wanted you to be together through anything no matter what, starting the day without you was simply unimaginable.
you offer him your kindness and he repays you with his loyalty. acting like your guard dog, protecting you from everything and everyone he considers a threat to you. he goes a bit overboard but it’s the thought that counts and he’s definitely got the right intentions.
“ i’m g’nna marry yn when i grow up !” katsuki proclaims from the backseat of the car after mitsuki had come to pick him up. she looks at him through the rear view mirror only to see he’s not even looking at her, looking out the window somewhat longingly, watching as his school fades away from his sight, further and further and further away from you. she smiles to herself.
“yeah ?” she asks “yeah !” he responds proudly, crossing his arms “ i asked yn if she wanted to be my wife an’ she said yeah, so we’re gettin’ married !”
“huh. how’d you propose ? you don’t have a ring.” she jests.
katsuki responds immediately and exclaims he does have one, shuffling around to reach for something in his pocket. he pulls out a plastic ring pop holder, the candy on top is missing and mitsuki can imagine what happened to it.
“gave her one of these !”
“so that’s why you had me buy those from the store last time,” she hums. “ you ate it, though.”
katsuki tries to roll his eyes but just ends up looking up and to the side, mitsuki recognizes it as him trying to mimic what she does a lot and she snorts.
“well duh, we both did ! ‘f i kept it in my pocket it woulda gotten gross !” he defends. mitsuki simply responds with a hum, smile on her face growing larger as she hears her son happily chatting about the rest of his day with you.
she knows her katsuki is hard to handle. extremely so. but when she sees the way you both interact she can tell something is there. you don’t ‘handle’ him. you like being around him. you like playing and talking with him, she sees how happy you make him whenever you come over for playdates. he holds your hand when you get scared and you hug him tight and beam when you see him again after he’s gotten over a nasty cold.
she can tell you make her son happy and he does the same for you in the way children do with pinky promises and shy cheek kisses, kisses over tiny wounds and refusing to be separated whenever the rowdier one of you both gets his recess time taken away for being naughty.
mitsuki hopes this crush, this love you have for her son can grow along with you. she hopes you’ll stick around as katsuki grows up more and potentially more rowdy and rougher around the edges but even more enamored with you. and with the way her son is squirming around in his seat and tugging at his seatbelt, giddy about you accepting his ring pop proposal, she has a funny feeling you’ll be sticking around for a long time.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
REQUESTED – My asks are open if you have a request ^_^
Summary; (For the sake of this fic, Steve and Nancy never happened) Steve and reader being dumb and having moments of being iconic together. Since everyone knows that Steve isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, maybe he just needs another person to be as dumb as him or maybe he just needs someone else to match him mentally.
Words; 3.4k
warnings; swearing, usual stranger things, things, slight mention of drug use, blood and injury. not proof read.
A/N; thank you for all the requests! I apologise for taking so long getting through them all. i cant write a 0.5k-1.0k fic for the life of me at the minute! Its 2am for me now, but i really wanted to get this out!
Tumblr media
Dustin said Steve was an idiot because he had too much hair on top of his head which left too much room for air. For you, Dustin said it was because you’d been around Steve for far too long.
Hawkins, Indiana, 1983.
School was a bore, you tried your hardest and whilst you did ace some classes, you also completely failed in others. Picking up extra tuition and getting help from anyone who would give it to you was a struggle. You didn’t like asking for help, it made you feel dumb, but more than that, it made you feel useless. Why did you struggle so much in certain classes and not in others?
You honestly thought it was from a fall you had as a child when you were learning how to ride a bike. Your father had stupidly taken off your stabiliser wheels and let you go on the hill of your childhood garden, right into a tree. Whilst you were fine overall, you did end up with a nasty bump on your head.
Not only were you not that smart academically, but you were also very accident-prone, which is how you met Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington. You weren’t the most popular person in school, you had a small group of friends and that was enough for you. You didn’t want to be known by everyone. As you walked down the busy hall to your locker, hardly taking in your surroundings and paying attention, you slammed into someone’s back. Your extra tuition books and folders fell to the floor,
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going!” The person you slammed into turned around, Steve Harrington, one of the most popular, sought for guys in school looking down at you, “I- I” you stuttered and he smiled, placing his sunglasses on the top of his head, he always found your first meeting adorable, it was something the party had heard several times and not got bored of hearing it. The nervousness in your eyes, the way you pushed some of your hair back behind your ear. The way you bent down to get your books, just as he was doing the same. Your heads collided and bounced off each other, his glasses joining your books on the floor, thankfully not broken,
“Shit! Sorry!” It was Steve’s turn to apologise as he slipped his discarded glasses into his pocket and pulled all of your books and folders into his arms, standing quickly so as not to embarrass himself further, “are you okay?” you just laughed and nodded, taking the books from his arms as you thanked him. That was the start of yours twos budding romance.
Hawkins, Indiana, October, 1984
It was a constant source of amusement for the party, they couldn’t believe some of the stuff you and Steve came out with half the time and how you were both so in sync,
***
“Maybe if we set this on fire,” Mike stated as he looked toward all the drawings on the floor,
“Oh, yeah. That’s a no.” Steve bites back, shaking his head, throwing a tea towel over his shoulder as he leaned on one foot, hand on his hip,
“A double no at that,” you called back to scrambling kids who were already gathering supplies and pointing at drawings on the floor,
“The mind flayer would call away his army,”
“They’d all come to stop us,”
“We circle back to the exit,”
“Guys.” Steve interrupted the party as they carried on talking between themselves, rushing around, completely ignoring the two older people in the house,
“By the time they realise we’re gone-“
“El would be at the gate,”
“HEY, HEY, HEY, this is not happening!” You and Steve bellowed over the party as they stopped to look at the both of you, your arms falling around as Steve grabbed the tea towel from his shoulder, whipping the air,
“Do you two share the same brain cell?” Dustin looked towards you both,
“No!” you both shouted in unison again, looking towards each other before laughing, the kids joining you.
***
They were all ecstatic when they found out you were both dating, though they did have to push you both in the right direction, this whole thing was an unlikely friendship between people. The only reason you were involved with Dustin and his friends was because you babysat him whilst his mum was at work, this caused you to get involved with the disappearance of Will last year and in turn, with you being close to Steve. He was brought into the mix also.
It was so obvious to others, how you both felt about each other, but it wasn’t for you and Steve. After some coxing and words of wisdom from the younger party, as you called it. You and Steve were finally an item, though they didn’t find out until months later when Steve let it slip,
“Dustin, stop picking on my girlfriend, would you?” Steve looked up from his plate of food as he moved bacon around with his fork, leaning back against the dining room chair as he stretched,
“But she just- wait? What... girlfriend?” Dustin looked back and forth between you both, the pair of you looking confused, “you’re meant to tell us!” Steve carried on moving food around his plate as you took a bite of toast leaning against the counter,
“Tell you what?” you asked wiping the crumbs off your hands onto a discarded tea towel,
“Have you been listening to any of this conversation?!” Dustin questioned, “That you’re together! I can’t believe this! How long have you two been a thing?! Wait until the others find out about this!” You picked up your plate with half a slice of toast left and took a seat opposite Steve as Dustin still stood shocked, playing with his walkie,
Steve finished up his food and stood up to put his plate in the sink, he looked at the calendar furrowing his brows slightly at the small writing, “Like seven months? Right?” he looked back at you as you nodded, your mouth full of toast.
Dustin once again stood dumbfounded, his mouth visibly agape as he pressed a button on his walkie, “you are not going to believe this, guys.”
Hawkins, Indiana, June 1985
“Oh, this is ridiculous.” You smoothed out part of your Scoops uniform that was now creased and bloody from your split lip and Steve’s as he was continuously hunching over you in a Russian loading car trying to gather his senses and not be knocked from pillar to post by Dustin’s driving up front, laughter bubbling in your throat, the situation was anything, but funny. All three of you (Steve, Y/N, and Robin) had been interrogated to the max, but once they found out there was a tie between you and Steve, they took advantage of that.
***
“Who do you work for?” the guard got down into your face once more, holding the arms of the chair you were tied to, his eyes glaring into your own,
“How many times do I have to tell you I work for Scoops Ahoy? I scoop ice cream for a living!” you cried out as you earned another slap across your already throbbing jaw. Steve was tied up behind you already passed out, they’d done a number on him and all you wanted to do was get out of this place and tend to his injuries, he didn’t deserve any of this. Robin was tied to the corner of the room having to witness her two new best friends being treated like this.
The Russian guard got in your face once more, “it looks like your friend here needs a doctor. Just as well we have the very best.” A smirk across his face made you see red, and without thinking you spat at him. A slight tinge of blood from your split lip was dripping down your chin, staining the collar of your uniform, “you’re going to regret that little one.” With that he muttered something else in Russian before leaving the room with the other guards, leaving you three on your own once more, but not without Robin calling them all bastards and yelling to let you all out of there.
“Steve?” you called gently as Robin tried to manoeuvre her arms from her binds to no avail. Unlike you two, she was tied to a bench so she couldn’t do much whilst she was bound up. Steve started to stir, pain evident in the way he groaned, “oh thank god... are you okay?” you asked quietly not wanting to be too loud,
“Ears are ringing, I can barely breathe and, my eye feels like it’s about to pop out of my skull, but apart from that I’m doing pretty good.” His voice was laced with pain and sarcasm.
***
You were pulled out of your thoughts as you came to an abrupt end, all three of you hitting already pained parts of your body as Dustin crashed into something,
“You guys alright back there?” Dustin asked as he looked to Erica with a slight shrug, “They’re fine, come on. Let’s go.” Dustin hurried out and opened the back of the loading car, hurrying you all out. Time was of the essence after all. This definitely made him think about how he acted sometimes, it was a handful and the fact you and Steve cared for him and all of his friends ample times made him furrow his brow slightly, not that he would change after they got out of this mess, he had an excuse, he was still younger than you.
“Guys! Come on!” Dustin bellowed as he huffed in annoyance, slapping his wrist, and ushering everyone into the elevator.
“Oh my god! A skateboard!” you screamed out in joy, jumping on a red platform truck as Dustin got to work pressing buttons and hoping for the best, once the elevator started to move, you started to struggle. Steve grabbed hold of the platform truck to stop it from moving too much,
“It looks like you're surfing!” Robin pointed at you as Dustin and Erica glanced at each other quite clearly done with your shit.
“They look drunk,” Erica stated, all of you now splayed on the floor talking about food, “why are they drunk, or drugged?” she questioned as Dustin felt Steve’s forehead,
“He’s burning up,” Dustin spoke to Erica alarmed,
“You’re burning up” Steve bit back, trying to push Dustin away with his hand whilst you and Robin laughed at the ceiling,
“Eyes are bloodshot, pupils dilated, Steve,” Dustin pat his cheek lightly, “are you drugged?”
“How many times, Dad? I don’t do drugs. It’s only marijuana.” Steve poked Dustin’s cheek and started laughing again as you and Robin shot up,
“you have marijuana?!” you crawled over to Steve and laid next to him, “gimme!” more laughs erupted from the three of you as Dustin and Erica watched on, wondering what the hell they were going to do to get you all out of this mess in one piece.
Getting you all back to the mall safely was a lot harder than Dustin could have imagined, Robin was picking at her uniform whilst tripping up over thin air whilst you and Steve were trailing behind humming and drumming the air to Simple Minds- Don’t You (Forget About Me) a song that had been on the radio continuously for the past month- a song Dustin thought you were both getting annoyed with as it came on the radio hours before you were in this mess and you were both scrambling with the radio to turn it off with rushed words of, fuck sake, turn it off, not this again, if I hear this song one more time I swear,
“Don’t you, forget about me.”
“Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t.”
“Don’t you, forget about me.”
Keeping you all hidden from the Russians was a lot harder than it could have been, with you three wanting food, and then trying to separate to find food, Dustin thought of a quick solution and got you all into the movie theatre but not before Steve reached into the bin to pull out a bag of discarded popcorn,
“You three sit.” Dustin pointed at the three vacant chairs as you all complained about being too close, and how the seats sucked. “Well then don’t watch the movie!”
“But we want to watch the movie!” Robin exclaimed as other people around you started to get agitated,
“Then watch it!” Dustin apologised to other people trying to shush you all, changing his tone to a hushed annoyed whisper, “Whatever you do. Don’t... go... anywhere.”
“Fine, Dad.” Steve perked up shaking his shoulders slightly as you and Robin snickered, taking handfuls of popcorn and shoving it in your mouth.
“That settles it,” Dustin huffed, “I'm never having kids." The pair sat down a few seats away, keeping their eyes off you trying to fetch up a plan.
Once they both realised you three had left the movie theatre, Dustin let out an audible sigh from his chest, this day, was not it.
“So, like, I wasn’t totally focused in there or anything, but... I’m pretty sure...that mum was trying to bang her son.” Robin leaned against the wall as you and Steve took turns drinking water from the fountain,
“But they’re the same age.” you stopped drinking and looked towards Robin,
“No, but he went back in time.” Robin looked up to the ceiling, balancing on one foot and then the other,
“Then why is it called back to the future?” Steve asked confused as he stopped drinking, letting Robin get to the fountain.
“It doesn’t make any sense,” you stated “Back means past so how could he be travelling back to something that hasn’t even happened yet?” you questioned Robin, Steve looking at you doe-eyed, completely agreeing with you,
“He has to go back to the future because he’s in the past, so, the future is actually the present, which is his time” Robin added as you looked confused,
“wh...What?” you and Steve looked at each other astonished before you both got distracted by the ceiling lights, dizziness, and churning in your stomach had you all rushing to the toilet, bringing up everything that happened in the day.
“Well that was no fun,” your voice was harsh, your throat sore as you leaned back against the cold wall of the cubical, no longer dizzy, everything still, the walls no longer moving around you, “Back to the Future though, I can’t get over that.”
***
Hawkins, Indiana, March 1986
Walking into the creel house was way more disturbing than it looked outside, creaking floorboards, furnishings covered in dust and cobwebs, completely derelict, wherever you stood, something creaked.
Lucas went to check on a small lamp for some light, probably to take the edge off an already eerie situation, “looks like someone forgot to pay their electric bill.” He stated as Dustin turned on his flashlight, you and Steve stood behind him glancing back and forth to each other,
“Where’d everyone get those?” Steve asked noticing that everyone had one except you and him.
Dustin looked back at the both of you as if to say unbelievable, “Do you two need to be told everything? You’re not children.”
“Thank you.” You said under your breath a little, huffing as Dustin took his backpack off,
“Back pocket.” He was used to you both forgetting things like that, you were both usually good with weapons and things you might need, and everything you didn’t, but never flashlights. You really did need to be told.
Max pointed out a big grandfather clock, hoping that everyone else could see it taking you away from looking at the scattered furniture,
“Why is this wizard obsessed with clocks?” you asked looking at the hands that were still,
“Maybe he’s, like, a clockmaker or something?” Steve said next to you, as you pursed your lips actually thinking about it,
"I think you cracked the case, Steve.” Dustin chimed in, shaking his head in disapproval as you watched on, nudging Dustin slightly. Nancy told everyone to go in groups of two leaving you, Steve and a smiling Dustin. Steve let out a sigh and walked off signalling you to follow, “Was that a sigh?”
“No, I did not sigh.”
“Why’d you sigh?”
“I didn’t sigh. Just come on, dude.”
“I heard you.”
“We were just always partnered up with you, okay?”
“You have a problem with that?”
“It’d just be nice to, I don’t know, mix it up a bit.”
You continued to walk the stairs, creaking with every other step, as Dustin hurried up behind you, the pair of them starting to bicker a bit, a usual occurrence, “I’m boring to you? Is that it?”
“No it’s the opposite,” Steve added as he moved his (Dustin’s) flashlight around careful not to knock anything off the walls,
“Maybe me and Y/N should partner up and you go around this creepy house alone, is that what you want?” Dustin asked as Steve shot his head around almost tumbling back down the stairs,
“No! I don’t want that, sorry man.” Steve moved his hair that had fallen a little flat huffing once more. “We do make a good team, The Three Musketeers and all that.” You smiled at Steve’s remark, it was a book you both had to read when you were at school, though boring at the time, the lessons you learned from the book stayed with you. Chivalry, honour, heroics, and willingness. It was true. You, Steve, and Dustin probably had spent the most time together because even though you could both be a bit daft from time to time, you were both reliable and trustworthy with any problem Dustin had, even if that meant issues outside of the upside down. You both never found anything that Dustin had to say daft.
“Hey, uh, Henderson?” Steve asked, looking at the cobwebs that littered the place, “could you maybe, uh, clarify what sort of clues we’re supposed to be looking for here?”
I second that,” you cut in,
“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.” Dustin looked back at the both of you smiling, “Sherlock Holmes.” Seeing you both confused he huffed sincerely.
“That’s great. Thanks. That’s great. Really helpful” You huffed and shook your head, feeling dumb as Steve placed a hand on your shoulder, rubbing his thumb slowly, a knowing glance only the both of you understood.
“You're not stupid, not to me anyway.” Steve smiled as a small laugh escaped your lips a small vent in the floor catching your eyeline as you walked over to it, “Y/N, let me.” Steve crouched down in front of you lifting the metal from the floor, jars of preserved insects had you grimacing before Steve shot up alarmed, shaking his arm and flailing his hand to get a spider off, both of you clumsily falling through cobwebs and the door, into Nancy,
“Hey, hey, both of you, stay still. Stop moving.” She took time to rid you both of cobwebs as she lightly dusted dust off your arm, you and Steve then looking over each other,
“It was a black widow.” Steve lets out a breath of air, calmer than he was before, “Don’t go in there.” He shut the door adverting his attention back to you, moving a stray piece of your hair behind your ear, kissing your nose lightly. “So uh, Nance. Maybe after we find Vecna, kill him, save the world, and stuff. Maybe we can all go out. You know? Me, Y/N, you, Jonathan, when he’s back.”
“I’d love to.” Nancy looked at you both endearingly, she was glad you both had each other. Everyone needed someone. She knew you both back in school, but never really spoke to either of you. She was too wrapped up in perfecting her grades, reading the next book on the shelf, but she was so thankful to be in your lives now.
Steve was finally with someone he could be himself around without feeling bad or awkward, even in this messed up world the both of you bounced off each other as though it were effortless. Although you were sometimes the biggest idiots, you were the biggest idiots in love.

“Hey, just FYI, a guy is gonna come over in about 15 to pick up,” Ellie warns you as she puts on some sweatpants on top of the boxers she was lounging in.
Ellie started dealing in high school, and it started purely by accident. She was always the one with bud, and originally only sold to close friends because they didn’t know where to get weed, but as college got more hectic (and tuition went up), Ellie started selling to people on campus. She sold actual bud mainly, but sometimes she’d sell shrooms if she ended up in possession of them.
You sit on your own twin bed, and look up from your phone, nodding. It wasn’t completely unusual for Ellie to have people pick up at the dorms, but more often she tried to avoid it in fear of getting caught by the R.A. and potentially getting expelled.
“Sounds good,” You say, going back to your phone.
Ellie stares at you for a moment, deliberating, “Hey, uh, there’s a party happening tonight that I’m probably gonna end up going to sell at, would you wanna come?”
Your face scrunches up, cautious, “Who’s throwing it?”
Ellie thinks for a minute, “I think it’s the lacrosse team, but don’t quote me on that.”
You groan, “Ughh… The lacrosse team? Seriously?”
Ellie sits on your bed, her hands clasped together, “Come onnnn, it won’t be fun without you there. Besides, we’ll go for an hour, get wasted and high, and come back here to play Mario Kart! It’ll be fun!”
You glare at Ellie, “You wouldn’t wanna go to this party either if it wasn’t for the business opportunity. The lacrosse guys are dicks.”
Ellie gives you a half-smile, “I know, that’s why I overcharge them.”
You snort, rolling your eyes, and you contemplate your options. You could either go out with Ellie and stay entertained, even if it is around insufferable people, or you could stay at home and play a video game for 7 hours straight.
“Okay, fine. But you owe me,” you say, folding your arms over your chest.
Ellie gives you a cheeky smile, “The pleasure of my company isn’t enough for you?”
You stare blankly back at her.
Ellie laughs, “Fine, Jesus, name your price.”
You think for a moment, not knowing what Ellie could give you besides weed.
Suddenly your face lights up, “You have to let me do your make up for tonight.”
Ellie’s nose scrunches up, “Dude, come on. I’m not a make up girl.”
You roll your eyes again, “I’m not gonna do it like mine, I’ll make it more androgynous, I promise. It’ll look so good.”
Ellie thinks about you thinking that she looks “so good”, and she sighs, “Fine. But none of that mascara shit. It feels weird on my eyes and I don’t like the way it looks.”
You laugh, “You have my word, no mascara.” You look over at the clock, seeing that it’s already about 8:30pm.
“We should probably get ready soon then, right?” You ask, and there’s a knock at the door.
Ellie nods as she walks towards the door, “Yeah, just let me finish this up.”
As Ellie takes care of business, you go over to your closet, thinking hard about what you can wear that looks good, but at the same time, doesn’t look like you put in that much effort to a college party.
You eventually pink a pair of your favorite pair of jeans, a tight, black cropped t-shirt, and some sneakers. You wait to start changing until Ellie’s customer leaves.
Ellie shuts the door, folding the wad of cash and slipping it into her wallet.
You start changing out of your shorts and hoodie into your outfit, and Ellie very pointedly does not look anywhere near you as you change. When you’re in your outfit, you look over it in the mirror.
“What are you gonna wear, Els?” You ask, fixing your hair.
Ellie stares at you in your outfit before looking down at her wife-beater and sweatpants combo. “Uh… This?”
You give Ellie a look, “Dude. This-“ you point to a stain near her neckline, “is from yesterday.”
Ellie scoffs, “Fuck you, I’m saving the environment by not washing my clothes every time I wear them.”
You roll your eyes, “Oh, is that what you’re doing?”
You go over to Ellie’s closet. You pick a black graphic tee, your favorite of her short-sleeve button ups to wear over it, and a pair of her slouchy denim jeans.
“Voila.” You say, shoving the clothes into her chest as you walk over to your shared bathroom to do your own make up. She flushes, but nonetheless changes into the outfit you picked, the idea of you picking what you think looks best on her making her stomach fluttery and warm.
When Ellie is finished changing, she walks into the bathroom, watching you in the mirror as you do your make up. You apply a light layer of lipstick as she does, and you’re hyperaware of her gaze on your face.
You finish up, your make up accentuating your features perfectly. You blot your lips with some toilet paper, and nod.
“Okay, let’s do this-“ You say, hoping up onto the bathroom counter and rifling through your make up bag until you find a brown, pencil liner.
“C’mere,” You say, motioning for Ellie to come closer.
Ellie’s hands are sweating as she walks up to you, standing in between your legs. She’s not sure where to put her hands so she leaves them dangling at her sides.
You lean forward and put your hand on Ellie’s cheek to steady her face. “Your eyes might water, just so you’re prepared.”
Ellie scoffs, “Please. A little eyeliner isn’t gonna kill me.”
You start lining her waterline, and her eye immediately tears up, “Fuck.”
You giggle, continuing to outline her green eyes. When you’re done, you put the pencil away.
“Okay, now the trick for this is to close your eyes and rub them a bit. Can you do that for me?” You ask as you rummage through your bag again to pull out some eyebrow gel.
Ellie chuckles a little, following your instructions, “I thought the point was to not touch your eyes when you have eyeliner on so you don’t fuck it up.”
You nod, “Yeah, usually, but I’m doing more of a diffused, messy look on you. It’ll look best with your whole… Vibe, I guess, if your make up is less structured and more messy.”
Ellie stops rubbing her eyes, and the green in her eyes pops brilliantly against the brown liner. You smile, pleased with yourself.
“Okay, that was the worst of it,” You say, brushing through Ellie’s eyebrows with the gel.
Ellie nods, focused on your face as you do her make up, and it makes you feel excessively vulnerable, but you don’t call attention to it, assuming it’s you who’s being weird for thinking into it.
You take a blush stick and apply a little to her freckled cheeks, and lightly dab the rest on her lips with your finger.
Finally, you apply a top layer of chapstick to her lips.
“Okay, finished,” You say, admiring your work.
Ellie nods, still in-between your legs, looking at you. “Thanks.”
You giggle, and it sounds more nervous than you intended. “Wanna check yourself out in the mirror?”
Ellie is knocked out of her stupor, and moves out from between your legs to look in the mirror. The liner makes her eyes pop, and the rest of the make up is simple and light, accentuating her features while adding a little something extra.
Ellie’s face spreads into a grin, “Dude, this is so much better than I expected.”
You kick her before jumping off the counter.
She yelps, “Hey! I didn’t mean that in a bad way, I just never really saw how I could wear make up in a way that makes me feel comfortable, and this looks great.”
You fix yourself in the mirror one last time, “Damn right it looks great. I did it.”
Ellie laughs, her smile bright. She gives you a once over, “You ready to go?”

The house that’s hosting the party is only a few blocks away from your dorm building, so you and Ellie walk there together as you share a blunt.
By the time you two arrive at the party, you’re both fairly stoned. Ellie opens the door for you, and you two barely get three steps inside before you hear a “Ellie! Y/n!”
You both turn to see a clearly inebriated Jesse rushing towards you, a goofy smile on his face.
He gives you both a bear hug at the same time, and you laugh as Ellie says, “I’m guessing you already found the booze, Jess?”
Jesse laughs boisterously, shrugging, “Hey, you guys need to catch up, get on my level.”
Ellie looks over at you, eyebrow raised, “Wanna take a shot?”
You make a face, “Not really, but I’m gonna take one anyways.”
Ellie laughs at that, and the three of you migrate to the kitchen. Ellie takes a bottle of whiskey out of her backpack that’s carrying everything she has to sell tonight. She pours three shots with some miscellaneous, most likely used, shot glasses on the counter. As she does, you ask Jesse, “Is Dina gonna be here tonight?”
Jesse makes a face, and you think ‘Shit, sore subject right now, huh?’
Jesse says, “Dina and I had a fight last night, so… I don’t know if she’s gonna be here.”
Ellie makes a low whistle, but she knows her friends, and this on and off again thing between Jesse and Dina has been going on since you all were in high school together. They’ll likely be right as rain by the end of the week.
You take a shot from Ellie and pass the other to Jesse, “Then we’ll have a blast with the three of us, right?”
Jesse grins, “Fuck yeah, we will.”
——-
Famous last words.
About 2 hours later, you were sitting alone on a musty couch, your head dizzy from the several drinks you’ve already had. You nurse another one as you watch Ellie dealing to some brunette girl. Jesse left you to hang out with some guy friends, so you’re left to watch this girl flirt with Ellie, clearly putting the moves on her. Your stomach twists a little as you see Ellie laugh at something she said, her eyes crinkling.
When the girl rests her arm on Ellie’s bicep and Ellie doesn’t resist it, you stand up, going to get some fresh air.
You weave through the packed house, stumbling slightly as you turn a corner. ‘Fuck. I must be more drunk than I thought.’
You go outside, walking out onto the front porch. There are a few people smoking outside, and you try to move past them, but a man puts his hand on your shoulder.
“Hey, y/n, right?” He asks, tilting his head. It’s dark out, but you finally recognize his face from a generals math class you took freshman year.
“Hey, Matt, how’ve you been?” You ask, cursing yourself for playing into it. You barely knew the guy, and you were really not in the mood to entertain someone’s conversation.
Matt grins, and he leans in closer to you, pulling you over to the porch railing by him, “I’ve been better without Professor Bynum on my ass about stats. How’ve you been?”
Your nose scrunches up instinctually at him pulling you over.
“I’ve been alright, pretty busy, I actually just came out here to get some air and, well- I guess I got it, so I should probably get back inside.” You say awkwardly, back away.
Matt says, “Wait! Before you leave… You should know that I had a *huge* crush on you during that class.”
‘Great. Jesus Christ,’ you think.
“That’s- Um, that’s sweet.” You say, and you couldn’t sound less enthusiastic if you tried.
Matt’s inebriated brain doesn’t seem to care about that though, “Do you think I could take you out sometime?”
You wince, “Oh, Matt, I’m sorry, I-“
You feel a hand on your shoulder and you jump, turning back just to see Ellie. She looks a little hurt, “I thought you were gonna wait on the couch for me?”
You give Ellie an apologetic, tense smile, starting to feel a little nauseated, “Sorry, I just needed to get some air.”
You turn back to Matt, and maybe if you were less drunk, you would’ve had more tact, but all that comes out of your mouth is, “And I’m sorry, Matt, but no.”
Matt’s eyebrows furrow, “Damn, okay. Do you have a boyfriend or something?”
You pause, wondering if you should lie to get out of the awkward situation, but before you do, Ellie says, “Why, does she need a boyfriend to not want to go out with you?”
‘Jesus, Ellie.’ You think, your stomach churning more and more.
Matt’s jaw drops, “Jesus Christ, what the fuck is your problem?”
Ellie’s eyes narrow, “Nothing, I’m just explaining how to take rejection, dipshit.”
Matt looks like he’s about to say something to retaliate, but before he does, you turn away from them and vomit over the porch railing into the shrubs.
Whatever was about to be said gets lost, and you feel one hand bracing your back as another gathers the hair out of your face, and you hear Ellie’s voice by your ear, “Shit, you alright?”
You try to nod but you end up heaving more, emptying the contents of your stomach. Ellie’s hand smoothes over your back in a way that she hopes is comforting as she holds your hair away from your face.
“Hey, it’s alright, you’re okay. I’m gonna take you home, alright?” Ellie asks as you stand back upright, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand.
“Okay,” you say, too nauseous to resist and too done with this party to want to.
Ellie seems considerably more sober than you as she wraps one arm around your waist, walking you back to the dorms. You’re about to tell Ellie that you’re fine to walk on your own, that you’re not that drunk, but you can’t help but want to take advantage of the situation, leaning into Ellie.
“I’m sorry for making you leave early,” you say, and she squeezes your waist.
“You’re just fine, babe, don’t worry. I wanted to leave that boring ass party anyways.” Ellie responds, shrugging.
The two of you keep walking. “What about that girl you were talking to? She was really pretty:”
Ellie brows furrow, “The brunette? She was nice, I guess.”
You shake your head as you laugh, “Ellie, you are so dense, she was totally into you.”
Ellie shrugs again, “I know.”
Your brows furrow this time, “And… You weren’t interested?”
Ellie shrugs, “She was alright, just… Yeah. Wasn’t interested.”
Ellie leads you up to your dorm room, and when you step inside, you immediately face plant onto your bed.
“Home sweet home,” you say into the duvet, your voice muffled.
Ellie chuckles at that, grabbing a glass of water that was by your bedside and bringing it to you. “Okay, doll. Can you drink this?”
You sit up on the bed, and sip the water as Ellie goes to fetch ibuprofen, a bucket (just in case you still feel sick later), and a warm washcloth because she knows you like to clean your face at the very least before bed.
She sets everything up for you as you wipe off your face, watching her with a lovesick ache in your stomach.
When you’re finished, she takes the washcloth and chucks it into the dirty laundry hamper. She also passes you one of her (clean) cheesy, graphic tees.
“For you to sleep in.” She says casually.
You laugh, “My closet is right there, Els.”
Ellie’s cheeks go a little pink and she tries to take the shirt back, “Well, if you don’t want it-“
You snatch it back from her, “I want it.”
She laughs and puts her hands up in surrender before going to use the bathroom to clean up herself.
You strip off your dirty clothes except for your underwear and slip on Ellie’s t-shirt. You check to make sure the bathroom door is still closed before lifting the fabric up to your nose and sniffing it, smelling the familiar scent of Ellie’s laundry detergent.
You feel that same lovesick ache pang at your stomach again, and you crawl back into bed, your drunk brain too inebriated to handle that kind of intense emotion. You nestle under your covers, and thanks to the weed and alcohol in your bloodstream, you quickly pass out.
When Ellie comes out of the bathroom and finds you asleep in her clothes, she quickly goes to pull out her journal, sitting on her own twin bed across from yours and doing a quick, messy sketch of your sleeping face.
‘This is fucking weird behavior, Ellie, what the fuck?’ She thinks to herself as she finishes up and gets up to put her journal away.
On her way back to the bed, she pauses, looking at you for a moment before kissing your cheek softly.
“Goodnight.” She whispers, before crawling into her own bed, where she would lie awake for several more hours.

Tumblr media
“Marry me.”
You eyed Jeonghan from across the couch. Having been friends with him since childhood, you knew what it looked like when he was going to say something completely insane. The corners of his mouth would turn up (as if even he knew how ridiculous what he was saying was), his eyes would glint with mischief, and when he was really messing with you, he’d sit back and fold his arms.
The thing was, he wasn’t doing any of that now.
It’s only because you knew him so well that you realized he was actually nervous, blinking just a little bit more than usual and popping his knuckles.
“You’re serious?” You finally said.
He shrugged, feigning nonchalance as he leaned back against the arm of the couch. “It’s a solution.”
“It’s marriage, Jeonghan,” you said. “It’s not something you do on a whim.”
“It’s not a whim,” he said, rolling his eyes. “I thought it through. You’d be able to get your teeth out without going into debt.” He poked your left cheek, almost to your jaw, as if he could reach your teeth.
“But marriage? That’s like—a whole commitment and everything,” you sputtered. “You don’t just marry someone for insurance!”
He shrugged. “Why not? It’s half the reason I took this job and my wisdom teeth have already been taken out. I need to make full use of it!” He knocked his knee against yours. “We’ll get divorced as soon as your teeth are fine. Don’t you want to do something fun and stupid?”
“Fun and stupid is for people that didn’t lose their parents’ dental insurance,” you said with a sigh that even you knew was dramatic.
“And this is a solution to that!” Jeonghan paused. “You really won’t even consider it?”
You turned to him, seeing how earnest he was. For whatever reason, he really believed in this. “Why? What does this do for you?”
“Contrary to what you and Seokmin think, not everything I do is give and take,” Jeonghan said. He placed a hand on your wrist, warm and familiar. “Yn, you are my best friend, and I want to help. I can help, I have a legitimate solution. If you want.”
For the first time, you actually contemplated it. Fake marrying Jeonghan wouldn’t change anything. He’d still be the idiot you met in elementary school that somehow convinced you for an entire year that humans came from Mars, and who had talked you into joining the Shakespeare Club in high school before abandoning you to join the soccer team. And he’d still be the first person you’d called when your first boyfriend had broken up with you and you needed a shoulder to cry on, the person who kept you up all night so you could write your final paper last minute your senior year, the first person you hugged when you finally graduated college.
“I’m not marrying anyone that doesn’t ask properly,” you said, not quite able to hide your smile. It was quickly wiped away when he slid off the couch, kneeling in front of you and scooping your hands into his. He looked up at you without a hint of a lie, his smile hesitant and nervous.
“Yn, my love.” He paused for dramatic effect. It wasn’t the first time he’d called you ‘my love,’ but it was different when he was immersed in the act of a man in love, making your heart skip a beat. “Would you please consider marrying me?”
You were tempted to say yes right away, your heart beating much louder than it should have considering it was just Jeonghan and not an actual proposal. You opened your mouth to answer, but the door flew open and Mingyu walked in. You whirled around to see him, Jeonghan’s hands still wrapped around yours.
Jeonghan’s roommate clearly had walked in without looking, now frozen with his bag hanging in his hands and one shoe half off. “I can come back.”
“No need!” You said, as he tried unsuccessfully to wiggle his foot back into his shoe. “Jeonghan was just proposing.”
“Oh, is that all,” Mingyu said. You were tempted to keep the joke going but you were a little worried at Mingyu’s frown, a mixture of shock and concern.
“He’s just trying to marry me so that I can get my wisdom teeth out,” you said. “It’s just insurance fraud.”
“Oh, is that all,” Mingyu repeated, sounding rather disappointed. He finally shut the door behind him, tossing his bag into a corner and taking his shoes fully off. “Don’t let me interrupt.” You watched him cross the room, barely glancing at you and Jeonghan, and disappear into his room.
Jeonghan squeezed your hands to get your attention again. “So? How about it?”
You smiled. “Sure. On one condition.”
.
.
You would have had a lot more fun if the waiter wasn’t still staring at you. It was starting to get uncomfortable. Since you sat down, you hadn’t felt him look away, his eyes burning into you throughout the entire meal.
You wondered if Jeonghan even noticed, sitting across from you and frowning at the menu. You tapped his foot under the table and he finally looked up and smiled at the man.
“Are you ready for dessert?” The waiter took his eyes off of you and you finally felt like you could breathe again. Some of it was your own fault. As Jeonghan ordered, you decided that it had been your idea and you couldn’t really be mad at him for being oblivious to your discomfort. It wasn’t like you were actually on a date.
“Anything else?” The waiter turned back to you and you tried your best not to squirm under his gaze. It felt like he was trying to undress you with his eyes. You wished you had worn a jacket and less form-fitting clothes.
Jeonghan reached across the table and squeezed your hand, making the waiter shift his eyes away from you for a moment. You glanced at your fake date and he smiled.
“We’re good, thank you,” you said, not taking your eyes off Jeonghan. You waited until you heard his footsteps leading away before you sighed in relief, letting go of Jeonghan’s hand.
“What is up with that guy?” You muttered.
“We’re almost out of here,” Jeonghan said. “We can bail if you want, though.”
You shook your head. “I want to see the look on his face when we walk out of here.”
Jeonghan laughed. That was why you were best friends. You understood the little voice in his head that whispered about petty comebacks so well because it sounded a lot like yours.
“So,” he said louder. You realized he was starting, fixing any stray hairs that had wandered into your face and sitting up a little straighter. “We’ve been together for a long time.” You nodded, smiling and finding it easy to pretend to hang on to every word as if you were in love. “Yn, you have been by my side through the most important parts of my life. I can’t imagine my future without you in it. Even before we were dating, I always knew it was going to be me and you.”
He paused, stepping out of his chair to kneel on the hard tile floor, reaching into his suit jacket and pulling out a box. He opened it, revealing the simple gold band you had picked out together. With his free hand, he found yours, squeezing your fingers gently.
“Yn, will you please marry me?”
Your hand flew to your mouth, as you stood up, sputtering his name, trying to pretend like a flustered date, buying time so you could blink out the real tears in your eyes. Teaching those children was making him too good of a liar.
“Yes,” you finally said. “Of course yes.” His smile was so big as he slid the ring onto your finger that you knew you had the entire restaurant fooled, maybe even yourself. There was applause when he pulled you into a hug, and you wondered if you were supposed to be this excited about a fake marriage.
You caught a glimpse of a uniform out of the corner of your eye and had a terrible idea. You pulled away until your face was only inches away from his, playing with the lapels of his suit jacket while his hands came to rest at your waist as if this were natural.
“You wanna kiss?” You asked softly. You were, perhaps, a little too entertained by how wide his eyes got, his hands suddenly tight. “It’ll be funny,” you said, leaning a little bit closer. “And I think it’ll look really weird if we don’t do it now because it really looks like we’re about to kiss.”
He stared at you, glancing at your lips then back to your eyes. You realized that this was the closest you’d ever been to him, in all your years of friendship. Your breath hitched as he leaned forward, and you closed your eyes.
Just when you were beginning to think he chickened out, you felt his lips on yours, a gentle and chaste kiss that was supposed to end in a heartbeat. Your hands curled into the fabric of his jacket as you leaned closer, chasing him before he could pull away. For a moment, he didn’t react. Then he was kissing you back and you forgot what you were supposed to be worried about.
You were both breathing heavily when he finally pulled away. You felt a little light headed, grateful he didn’t let go of your waist as you tried to remember why you had been kissing your best friend, and why it felt so good.
“I can’t wait to marry you,” he said, reaching a hand up to brush some hair out of your face. Right. Marriage. Fake marriage. You finally pushed out of his arms, sitting back in your seat, though you kept your dazed smile.
“Congratulations,” the older couple sitting at the table next to you said. “You two make a lovely young couple.”
“Thank you,” you said.
“Take it from someone who’s been married for fifty-one years,” the man said, “the only right way to do marriage is to find someone that loves you and hold on to them.”
You smiled at them, feeling a little guilty that you weren’t really getting married. You did love Jeonghan, though not in the sense that he meant.
“It’s been fifty two years, dear.”
The man frowned. “No, I counted this morning.”
“Well, you counted wrong.”
You turned back to Jeonghan as they continued to bicker, raising your eyebrows. He smiled, picking up your left hand that now bore the “engagement” ring, running his thumb over your fingers. The kiss was messing with your head, that was why your heart was pounding at such a simple movement.
You sat in idle silence as Jeonghan laced your fingers together and you both eavesdropped on the fighting couple next to you. For a couple moments, it was nice, and you let yourself pretend you really were engaged. You wondered what it would be like to be so certain in your love that you would commit to every day with them. Maybe you were just young, but you couldn’t imagine the strength of that love. Except maybe you could, because you knew for a fact that your future held Jeonghan. And Seokmin, and Seungcheol, and Mingyu, and all of your friends. They were fixtures in your life even if it was a different kind of love.
Jeonghan tapped your hand, bringing you out of your daydream. “Free dessert incoming.” You turned around and saw a waiter, not the one who had been staring at you, carrying a large slice of cake with a candle in it.
“Congratulations!” He said, setting it on the table. “Please enjoy your dessert complimentary as a sign of our hope your love will be everlasting!” His enthusiasm was fake but the free dessert was all you cared about anyways, the entire reason you had Jeonghan propose a second time.
You cut into the cake, excited to see if it really was as good as the reviews said. The fork was halfway to your mouth before you paused, smiling at Jeonghan. He seemed to know exactly what you were thinking, rolling his eyes but opening his mouth. You leaned over the table, delivering the cake directly into his mouth. You tried not to think about his lips as you pulled the fork back, remembering how they felt against yours.
You quickly cut your own piece, focusing on the sweet chocolate. It really was delicious, definitely worth the fake engagement. You savored each bite, not daring to look at Jeonghan for fear of your thoughts betraying you again.
The cake was finished quickly, leaving you full and suddenly nervous with nothing to look at other than Jeonghan. Since when did he make you nervous?
Because you weren’t looking at him, you didn’t notice him lean forward, and nearly jumped when his fingers brushed against your chin, thumb rubbing against the corner of your lips.
“You had some chocolate on your face, idiot,” he said, dropping his hand and leaning back. It’s because you haven’t been on a date in a while, you decided. That’s why the simplest actions from Jeonghan were making your heart flutter.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, trying to see if the waiter carrying a check was headed your way.
You hoped the awkwardness would go away after a few minutes, but even after Jeonghan paid (and stared down the waiter) and you both walked to his car, you couldn’t think of anything to say to break the awkward tension. It was as if you had forgotten everything you had ever spoken about, your mind completely blank.
You sat in the front seat of his car, tapping your fingers on the armrest and looking anywhere but at your best friend. You tried to remember the last time you had been with him and didn’t have anything to say. How did you normally act around him? Make fun of his driving? Tease him about…Well, usually about his lack of a love life but you were definitely not bringing that up now.
You were relieved when his phone rang, saving you from spewing any of the awkward conversation starters you were coming up with. Jeonghan answered with his fancy steering wheel button, making you reminisce about the days when you would have to answer for him. Sometimes you missed his old car, as beat up and shitty as it was.
“You bastard.” You grinned at Jihoon’s greeting.
“Hi, Jihoon, my night is going great, how’s yours?”
“Hi Jihoon!” You said so that he’d know you were there too.
“How dare you fucking leave me?” Jihoon said. “You heartless, spineless, dickless, motherfucker.”
Jeonghan laughed. “I see the dance went well.” You stifled your giggle. You’ve met Jeonghan’s work friends a couple times, though this is the first time you’ve experienced Jihoon’s full wrath (Jeonghan has told you many times how scary the man could be and you’ve seen firsthand that he has not skipped gym day in years).
“I sent Joshua,” Jeonghan said. “It couldn’t have been that bad.”
“Yeah that bastard is next, he switched too,” Jihoon said. “I had to chaperone with motherfucking Seungkwan.”
“Oh come on, it couldn’t have been that bad,” Jeonghan says. “Seungkwan is nice.”
“You better have a good goddamn excuse.” You could hear Jihoon’s glare. “Any second I wasn’t dealing with a kid crying bc they couldn’t get a goddamn muffin or pissed their pants I was listening to that fucking idiot gush about how cute the kids are. I haven’t had a second to hear my own fucking thoughts.”
“Stop laughing!” You said. “Green light, dumbass!” Jeonghan wiped a couple tears from his eyes and stepped on the gas before the cars behind you honked.
“Yn?” Jihoon seemed to finally realize you were there.
“Yeah, I’m with Jeonghan, he’s driving,” you said.
“Are you the reason that motherfucker ditched me tonight?” He asked. You wondered if it was safe to answer the question, but, catching a glimpse of the ring on your finger glinting under the passing streetlight, you realized you had a perfectly good reason.
“Well, we did get engaged,” you said.
Jihoon was silent. Jeonghan’s head whipped to you for a moment before turning back to the road. When you winked at him, it took him a moment to return a smile.
“Took you long enough,” Jihoon finally said.
“It’s not an actual engagement,” Jeonghan said, rolling his eyes at your groan. “Yn just wanted free dessert.”
“You canceled on me because you scammed a restaurant?” Jihoon sounded pissed again.
“We could have kept that going so much longer,” you muttered as Jihoon began to curse him out again. Jeonghan pulled into your driveway, leaving the engine on.
“I’ll see you on Monday, Jihoon,” Jeonghan said.
“Yeah, looking forward to it,” Jihoon said. You frowned as the call disconnected.
“I think he might be planning your murder,” you said.
Jeonghan laughed. “Yeah, you’re probably right. I’ll just call Joshua and make sure he’s there to witness it.”
“I’m pretty sure it’ll just end up being a double homicide,” you said. “Is it weird that I’m a little scared of him?”
“It’s a common reaction,” he said. “You get used to it, especially when you see him with the kids. He’s an entirely different person.”
Just like you, you thought, barely catching yourself before you said it out loud. You saw Jeonghan exactly once at school, picking up a work paper he’d accidentally taken with him when he was grading at your dinner table, and immediately forgot to be mad because you got to spy on him teaching in front of a bunch of eight year olds who were actually listening to him. He might have been your best friend, but even you couldn’t deny the way he could make the entire class burst into giggles with just a wink was at least a tiny bit adorable.
You looked at him now, dark hair getting so long it was falling over his eyes. As he reached a hand back to try (and fail) to tuck it behind his ear, you remembered how they pressed into your waist when you kissed. You pushed the horrible thoughts away, realizing you had been quiet for way too long.
“I’ll go inside now,” you said, opening the door. You turned around as you got out, facing him. “Thank you for indulging me tonight.”
His eyes flitted between the ring on your finger and back to your eyes. “You know I love free food just as much as you.”
You laughed. “Thank you anyways.” You chewed on your lip for a moment before adding, “Seriously, thank you. I… I really don’t know what I’d do without you.”
He blinked before smiling. “You’d probably let Soonyoung pull out the teeth with pliers.”
“Oh my god, I totally would,” you said, covering your mouth. “You’re saving me from complete mutilation!” You both laughed, though it faded quickly and you found yourself lingering at the door.
“Goodnight, yn,” Jeonghan said softly.
You take a step back, returning his smile. “Goodnight, future husband.” You closed the door on him, though you didn’t miss how he rolled his eyes.
He waited for you to get inside before he finally drove off, headlights flashing in the windows then disappearing as you watched him drive down the street. You stayed standing by the window for too long, staring at the street long after his car was gone.
.
.
You found yourself in the front seat of his car again, clutching the piece of paper. It felt… flimsy. You turned to Jeonghan, who had been about to start the engine.
“That was ridiculously easy, right?”
He shrugged. You agreed to dress up today, and Jeonghan had decided to wear a suit which made it very hard for you to look at him and think properly but you were doing your best to ignore that.
“It’s not like it’s a green card marriage,” he said, turning the key and starting the engine. “Plus we’ve been friends for so long I don’t think they’d be able to ask anything we couldn’t answer.”
You sat back against the chair, still unsatisfied for some reason. A courthouse marriage wasn’t exactly romantic, but you reminded yourself this relationship wasn’t romantic. Still, you thought being married would feel different.
“So, what do married people do?” You asked.
“Seatbelt,” Jeonghan said, tapping your leg. You ignored the shivers that traveled down your spine. He turned back to the wheel, though he didn’t put the car into gear until your seatbelt clicked. “I don’t know, get groceries? Run errands?”
“We do that all the time anyways,” you said, frowning.
“You do remember that this is a fake marriage, right?” Jeonghan asked.
You rolled your eyes. “Yes, I am well aware of that. I just thought that this might feel… I don’t know, different.” You held up the piece of paper. “Even if it isn’t actually real, this still legally links us together and that’s kind of monumental.”
“Are you getting nostalgic on me already?”
You stared out the window, watching the trees pass by. Maybe you were. You couldn’t help but remember when Jeonghan first got his license, six months before you could get yours. You spent so much time in the passenger seat of that rundown vehicle, seeing him nearly every day.
You both had grown up. Well, Jeonghan had, with an actual adult job (complete with benefits!). You were still working a part time job and struggling to figure out what you wanted and spending every day terrified that you might never find out what that is. Sitting in his front seat, you wondered if you would ever know.
“I don’t know,” you finally said. “I just want to do something fun today.”
“Don’t tell me you want to scam another poor restaurant,” Jeonghan said. “We’ll never be able to go there again.”
“I didn’t say anything like that!” You said.
“Then what is something fun?” Jeonghan asked. It was a Monday and he had gone straight from work to the courthouse. You realized he was probably tired and wanted to go home and be done with the day.
“Laying in bed and taking a nap?”
“We’ve been married for like twenty minutes and you’re already trying to get me in bed?” Jeonghan whistled. “That’s low even for you.”
You smacked his arm. “I literally said taking a nap.”
“Well if you’re not going to suggest anything, then I will,” he said. You frowned at him, but it quickly turned into a grin when you heard his suggestion.
An hour later you were wearing cheap plastic armor and held a phaser to your chest. You glared at Jeonghan from across the room. He raised his eyebrows and you knew he was saying, good luck with that.
It had been a little concerning how quickly you and Jeonghan were able to round up friends for laser tag. It was always a struggle to find a date to meet up with everyone but a random Monday afternoon and a last minute invitation somehow managed to bring over half your friends together.
On your team was Seungcheol, Jun, and Chan, while Jeonghan had Mingyu, Jihoon, and Soonyoung. A fair enough split, in your opinion (you learned years ago that as long as Jeonghan and Seungcheol weren't on the same team it was fair). Chan and Jihoon would both have to prove themselves, the only two invited that hadn’t been friends with you and Jeonghan since high school.
The “safety instructor,” a kid that couldn’t be older than seventeen, finally finished explaining the rules and the group split up on opposite sides of the arena to begin the battle.
“Okay, listen up,” Seungcheol said, rounding the group up. His competitiveness hadn’t changed since high school. “I’ll die before I lose to Mingyu and Jeonghan. Keep your eye out for them, Soonyoung is Soonyoung, we don’t have to worry about him, but Jihoon is a wildcard and I don’t trust him, he looks like he’s wielded a gun before.”
“Is it really this deep?” Chan asked you a little too loud. Seungcheol rounded on him.
“Listen up kid,” he said, ignoring Chan’s protest that he was only a couple years younger. “This is about honor. Respect. This is war, and I’ll be damned if I lose.”
“Did he watch Braveheart last night or something?” Jun whispered in your ear. You shrugged, adrenaline already pumping through your veins. It had been so long since you’ve gotten to do something fun.
“Alright, yn and I should split up since we’re the only ones who have a chance at taking down Jeonghan, so Chan, you’re with me, Jun either stick to yn or find high ground.”
Chan yelped as Seungcheol dragged him to the far entrance. “Why am I with you?”
“I don’t trust you not to die,” Seungcheol said.
“Dude, we met today,” Chan said.
You glanced between Jun and the bickering boys. “Should I save him?”
He shrugged. “He looks like he can handle it.”
“You’re still mad that he finished the popcorn when I invited him to movie night.”
“If he can handle Seungcheol’s wrath he can be invited again,” Jun said. “Otherwise I don’t trust your ‘work friend.’”
“Oh my god, I can have friends other than you guys,” you said, pushing him to the middle entrance. “Go be a sniper, I don’t want to deal with your sulking more than I’ve already had to put up with.”
Jun laughed, letting himself get pushed into position as you took the opposite side, already mapping out your plan of attack. From the little map they gave you, it hadn’t changed much since the last time you had been here, though it had been years. You smiled, remembering the last time you had dominated the competition. Jeonghan had been on your team that time, and there was a huge argument about whether that team was unfair.
You took a deep breath as the countdown dropped to five seconds. You had a reputation to uphold and a husband to destroy.
Three.
Two.
One.
You were moving as soon as the doors opened, blinking through the machine-generated fog and advancing down the right side of the arena, to where you knew an outpost would be. You could hear Jun’s light footsteps in the catwalks above you, though they soon vanished as he turned to the middle of the map.
You peered into the darkness, looking for any flash of the green light that signified your enemy but found nothing. You got to the tower, pulsing white light that you shot down before it could damage you. Your armor blinked once, twice, then faded, and a two minute timer began counting down on your phaser. Two minutes of invisibility. You grinned.
You crept along the side, taking extra care to be quiet. Finally, you caught your first glimpse of a victim, a flash of green light a few paths to your left. You ducked behind a pillar to follow, stepping out and taking a shot. Your phaser buzzed with victory, and you darted back before your victim could spot you and expose your invisibility.
You moved quickly, glancing at your phaser to see you had gotten Soonyoung. An easy kill, but it made you smile anyways. You were nearly across the arena now, and decided to climb up and see if you could get a better angle for the arena. You knew there was another outpost nearby and heard the unmistakable clanging of someone fighting it. After a couple seconds it stopped, and you guessed it meant someone else had a power too.
From above, you spotted another green light, taking the shot before it could vanish and feeling the satisfaction of another buzz. You heard Jihoon curse and smiled, ducking behind a wall before he could see you.
“Fuck you, yn,” he said.
“Language!” You called back, laughing as he cursed at you again.
You started to cross a bridge but froze when Jun appeared from the other side, pointing behind him.
“Jeonghan has unlimited ammo,” he said, ducking behind a barrier. You step behind a wall just as Jeonghan comes into sight. He didn’t see you, but he must have known you were nearby from Jun’s warning.
“Oh yn,” he called in a sing-song voice. “I know you’re out there.” You still had a chance. He knew you were there, but he didn’t know that you were invisible (for 30 more seconds), which meant he was looking for a blue light. You figured it would give you a couple seconds of surprise and maybe you’d get a good shot off before him.
You heard Jun groan as he got shot and knew this was your only chance. You stepped out raising your phaser before you spotted him, aiming at nothing- nothing- nothing- then at the bright green light at the end of his phaser as he turned to face you.
You didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
You felt the buzz of your phaser and cheered as Jeonghan’s armor blinked.
“All these years and you still can’t beat me,” you said with a laugh, crossing the bridge to gloat over him. He rolled his eyes.
“I can’t believe you’re using the same strategies,” he said. You passed him, walking backwards because you didn’t dare turn your back on him.
“And yet they still work!” You grinned, until you felt a new buzz, your armor blinking. You whipped around, finally finding Jihoon standing below you with a smirk.
“Oh fuck you,” you said. You ignored the laughter you heard from both Jihoon and Jeonghan, retreating to hide until your armor recovered and you were back in the game.
You could hear Seungcheol and Chan bickering from somewhere to your right, followed by Mingyu’s shout as they apparently managed to take him down. Once your armor was glowing blue again, you ventured out, taking extra care to be aware of your surroundings. You stayed on the floor, making sure to check above you for any green light.
You were able to take out Soonyoung two more times, Mingyu once, and you nearly got Jihoon a second time but Jun got to him first. Though there was only a minute and a half of the game left, you were determined to catch Jeonghan one more time, listening for his laugh, then for his coughing as the fog machines billowed out giant clouds.
You were all the way around to the entrance you had come in through, the fog making it difficult to see any farther than a couple feet in front of you, which seemed like a safety hazard to you. You moved slowly, trying to pick out any light in the darkness.
“Hands up.” His voice came from behind you. You cursed, raising your hands in the air. “Turn around.”
“Just shoot me already,” you said.
“I want to see your face when I beat you,” he said. “Come on.”
You turned to face Jeonghan, rolling your eyes at his satisfied smile. “Are you going to shoot me yet?”
“No, I’m going to enjoy this moment,” he said. You knew he was running down the clock so that you had less time to get revenge. It didn’t make it any less annoying.
“You’d really shoot me?” You gave him your best betrayed look. “When we were married today? Only a few hours ago?”
“Save it, you didn’t hesitate when you shot me,” he said, phaser trained at your chest where the blue light gleamed. You caught a glimpse of something behind him, a flash of blue light.
“I regretted that,” you said, stifling a laugh. “Give me a chance to redeem myself.”
Jeonghan paused and for a moment you thought he was actually considering it, eyes turning soft. “Fat chance-”
His armor buzzed and flashed.
“Who the-”
You bursted into laughter with Seungcheol as Jeonghan turned to face him. You had caught a glimpse of him while begging for your life and somehow managed to keep your face straight until he was in range. Chan trailed behind him, smiling but looking slightly concerned at the pure glee that you and Seungcheol shared.
Jeonghan glared at you, turning the corner without a word as you high-fived Seungcheol.
“I owe you,” you said.
“Ready to hunt down the rest of them?” He cocked his head to the arena. “We still have a minute.”
“Sure, I could go for a new record with Soonyoung,” you said.
“Take the right side again, Chan go up and meet up with Jun, I’ll take the left,” Seungcheol said. Chan saluted him, though you didn’t miss him shaking his head as he climbed the stairs. He’d fit right in.
You got Mingyu one more time just before the timer ran out, then all of the lights on your armor flickered and turned off, the arena lights turning on. You grinned at him, bumping your shoulder into his.
“You nearly got me that time,” you said.
“Whatever,” he said. “I still don’t think it’s fair that you got to team with Seungcheol.”
“Would you rather me and Jeonghan were together again?”
Mingyu hesitated. When you turned to face him, his brow was furrowed.
“What’s wrong?”
“You and Jeonghan are really married?”
You held up your left hand, gold band still sitting. You hadn’t taken it off since the night he proposed. “Apparently.”
Mingyu was quiet as you walked beside him, still frowning.
“Okay, spill.”
“Spill?”
“Whatever’s wrong,” you said. “Clearly you don’t approve of me and Jeonghan, so tell me why.”
“It’s complicated,” he said with a sigh. You stopped him just before the exit.
“Jeonghan said it was fine, but if it’s messing up something in his life, I want to know.” You waited until he met your eyes. “He’s my best friend, you know I wouldn’t want to do anything that hurts him.” Mingyu stared at his feet and didn’t answer you.
“Is there someone else? Someone he should be dating for real?” You were surprised at how difficult it was to say, the words leaving a foul taste in your mouth.
Mingyu tilted his head. “Something like that.”
It was your turn to frown. Jeonghan had dated plenty of people before and it had never bothered you. You even liked most of them, until things inevitably went wrong. Why did the idea of him having feelings for someone feel so… wrong?
“Oh.”
“Are you lost?” You heard Seungcheol shout. You followed Mingyu out, trying to find your smile again. Even when you saw your name at the top of the leaderboard, it was hard to really smile.
“As expected,” you forced yourself to gloat over Jeonghan, dropping beside him on the bench. He was taking off his armor, and didn’t react to your shoulder pressed against his.
“You’ll get ‘em next time, champ,” you said, patting his knee. He shook his head, watching Seungcheol and Mingyu argue.
“Hey,” you said. He turned to face you, and maybe it was the way the sunlight filtering through the windows made him glow or maybe it was just the way he looked at you, but you forgot what you were going to say.
“What is it?” He asked with a little frown.
You blinked, trying to push the weird feelings away. “You’re a simp.”
Jeonghan scoffed. “Since when?”
“Since you had an easy shot and let me live,” you said. “Seriously, marriage has made you soft.”
“You think that’s why I didn’t shoot?” He asked. He laughed at your frown. “Oh, yn,” he said, throwing an arm over your shoulder and pulling you close to him. “You may have won the game and you may have beaten me, but you betrayed your husband, and for that you at least owe me dinner.”
“You’re so full of it,” you said, but you didn’t push him off. “You would have executed me.”
“I’m hurt,” he said, patting his chest. “You shot me, right here. It still hurts, I’d never do that to you!”
You rolled your eyes but you leaned into his embrace, tucking your head onto his shoulder. You remembered what Mingyu said, about his heart belonging to someone else and it sent a pang through your heart. Whoever that person was, they were going to be very lucky. Once you got out of the way.
.
.
Your teeth hurt. Actually, your whole face ached. You struggled to open your eyes, finally managing to pry them open only to squint them closed because the lights were so bright.
“Ah, you’re awake,” a calm voice said. You frowned at the blurry shape standing over you. “I’ll get your pick-up person.” The nice voice disappeared, leaving you to blink alone.
They weren’t gone for long, returning with another figure that was familiar.
“Jeonghan!” You tried to say, except there was gross stuff in your mouth making it difficult to make sounds.
“Hey toothless,” he said, stopping beside you. He glanced at the nice-voice, who you were pretty sure was some sort of nurse since they were wearing bright green scrubs, then picked up your hand and held it. “How are you feeling?”
“Mouf hurt,” you said. Jeonghan laughed, squeezing your hand.
“We’ll get out of here and pick up your prescription, how’s that sound?”
You nodded. You couldn’t tell if the tingly feeling spreading through your body was the anesthesia wearing off or from Jeonghan beside you. You stared at him, studying his face, eyebrows, nose, jawline, everything. Had he always been so handsome?
You didn’t turn away when he caught you staring. He seemed to think it was funny, smiling down at you. Since when was his smile so sweet?
The nice-voice nurse returned. “Okay, yn, you should be good to go, we just have a little paperwork for your husband to fill out.”
“Huthband?” You tried to say. “I don’t have a huthband.”
The nurse laughed. “I’m sure you can’t forget marrying someone like him.” You followed their finger, pointing at Jeonghan.
You frowned at him for a moment, then laughed. “Jeonghan ithn’t my huthband.”
You frowned at him as he shook his head, patting your hair. “I guess we know how well you handle anesthesia, dear.”
Dear? You kept staring at him but the nurse handed him paperwork and he seemed to think that meant it was the end of the conversation. He let go of your hand to fill out, which made you frown even more, reaching a hand to rest on his arm. He glanced at you and shook his head at your pout.
He scribbled on the paper, frowning a couple times but finally put the clipboard down, turning to you. He smiled at you, a warm, fond smile. Is that how married people looked at each other? You tried to return it but your swollen, gauze-filled mouth made it impossible.
“Let’s go,” he said, returning his hand to yours. You let him pull you to your feet, leaning into his shoulder until the dizziness passed, and then you kept leaning on him because it felt nice. He didn’t protest, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and gently massaging your shoulder as you left the suite. He handed the clipboard to the nurse with a smile.
“I see you’ve remembered your husband,” they said, winking at you. You glanced between Jeonghan and the nurse. You remembered Jeonghan—he was the boy who sat next to in second grade that never shut up about the World’s Worst Jokes (literally, it was his favorite book), the boy you finally decided to call a friend in fifth grade after he helped you catch up your schoolwork because you missed a week with strep throat. He was the boy you were no longer allowed to pair up in assignments with in middle school after you were dubbed the ‘demon duo’ by all your teachers (it was affectionate, but the Lollipop Incident of seventh grade could not be forgotten), the boy you followed around all through high school because your senses of humor just matched.
You remembered spending countless university nights beside that boy as he kept you awake until your essays were finished, more than once saving you from the back pain of sleeping slumped over a table by forcing you into a bed. That boy had been your roommate, until a year and a half ago, spending nearly every second at your side, bickering with you about how many holes are in a straw and holding you while you cried over everything from bad grades to heartbreaks.
You thought you would definitely remember marrying that boy.
“I couldn’t ever forget him,” you finally said. You wished your words weren’t turned to mush by your mouth. You looked up at Jeonghan, who was smiling down at you again, squeezing your shoulder.
He thanked the nurse, pulling you outside. You waited until the doors shut before lifting your head off his shoulder. “Are you sure we're married?”
He laughed at your frown. “Last time I checked.” He lifted your left hand and held it with his own, matching gold bands knocking against each other.
“Such boring rings,” you said. It was a lie; you loved the simplicity. It just seemed right for you and Jeonghan.
“I’m never going to let you live this down,” Jeonghan muttered with a crooked smile. He walked you all the way to his car, letting go of your shoulder to open the car door for you. It was strange to see him opening doors for you, but maybe you really had forgotten dating and marriage, and maybe this was normal. You fell into the seat, exhausted from the short walk, barely working up the energy to pull your seatbelt across your shoulders.
You felt fingers brush against your forehead and you opened your eyes to see Jeonghan brushing a strand of hair out of your eyes. He held your gaze, fingers lingering on your brow.
“Get some rest,” he whispered. “I’ll pick up your prescription and take you home.” You nodded, the movement finally causing him to drop his fingers. You could feel the ghost of their light touch against your brow, just as you could still feel his fingers laced with yours, even as you watched him drive, both hands gripping the steering wheel.
You closed your eyes, resting your heavy head against the seat. You were not going to fall asleep, your mouth hurt too much for that, but for once Jeonghan seemed to be avoiding the potholes so it was at least a smooth ride. You wanted to ask him about your marriage, about how you could forget crossing the line between friends and lovers.
Somehow when you opened your eyes, he was on your street. You definitely remembered him moving out, so why was he taking you back here?
“If we’re married, why are we going back here?” You asked as he pulled into the driveway.
Jeonghan fought another smile. “Are you asking me to move in together?”
“No, I’m asking why married people don’t live together,” you said. He left the car, walking around to your side and helping you out. You leaned on him again as he walked you to the door, feeling exhausted.
“Maybe we don’t have a happy marriage,” he said nonchalantly. He pulled the keys, your keys, out of his pocket and let himself in, half-carrying you to your room. “I mean, you literally forgot we are married.”
You shook your head as you crawled under your blankets. “No, I don’t think so. I’m really happy we’re married.”
He pulled the blankets over you, tucking you in. “Why’s that?” He paused over you, dark hair falling into his eyes again as he looked down on you.
“I really like you,” you said. He leaned over you, and all you wanted was to melt into those beautiful brown eyes, but your eyelids were getting heavier with each heartbeat. The last thing you remembered was Jeonghan pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
.
.
You watched Jeonghan at the bar. He was getting drinks but he had been stopped by some girl whose name you couldn’t quite remember. You turned to look at the dance floor; Jeonghan could talk to whoever he wanted, you didn’t have any right to care.
The rest of your friends were scattered around the dance floor at different tables, being normal humans and socializing. Mingyu had tried to drag you into a conversation, but Eun Woo was at the table and there was no way you would deign to be anywhere near that man.
However, that left you alone at the table your group had claimed when you arrived together, watching everyone else having fun. Names floated around your head, occasionally matching the faces of the people wandering around. Thankfully, no one you didn’t know came to say hi.
Just last year you had been excited to go to your first high school reunion, tracking down all of your friends and making sure they kept the night free. That had been before you realized everyone else had grown up and gotten adult jobs, leaving you and your part time job to feel tiny and more than a little bit like a failure.
Your friends got their revenge and dragged you to this year’s reunion. The worst part was, you were stuck. Because of the incident last year (which had nothing to do with you and Jeonghan and the intercom system), your former student body president (turned CEO) decided it would be best to host your reunion at a hotel under the guise of promoting safe drinking habits. They’d booked rooms for everyone and even had free (cheap) beer. You’d be impressed, if you weren’t suspicious that half the funds were from the embezzling scandal you’d heard his company had gotten caught in.
You found Seungcheol chatting with a couple members of the baseball team. You debated joining him, but they were probably reminiscing about the games they’d played and you’d only gone to a few, so you doubted you’d be able to really contribute to the conversation.
Seokmin and Soonyoung hadn’t left the dance floor since you arrived, though that surprised no one. The only difference between high school and now was that the alcohol in their system was legal. You were much too sober to think about joining them. Plus it had only been a couple weeks since your surgery, and though you were technically allowed to do physical activity, you used any excuse you could to avoid the chaos of Seokmin and Soonyoung on the dance floor. They were a hazard to society.
You stood, seeing Jun walking towards his ex, but Mingyu roped him into his conversation. You glared at Eun Woo, as you were now standing awkwardly.
A quick glance told you that Jeonghan was still stuck in line at the bar, still chatting with the same girl. Not that it bothered you. Maybe you should join him.
You took a step, but a voice made you freeze. “Who left you all alone?” You spun, finding Minghao standing in front of you, hands buried in the pockets of his jacket. He managed a nonchalant expression until you threw yourself in his arms.
“You came?” You half shouted with your arms around his neck.
He laughed, catching you before you toppled him over. “Miss me?”
“Don’t even joke! Of course I did! You left me with a bunch of idiots!” You took a step back, though you didn’t let go of his hands. Minghao. He’d gone abroad after high school and never came back, leaving a hole in the friend group that could never be replaced. Mingyu liked to call it losing the only braincell you had ever known.
He caught your left hand, lifting it and raising his eyebrows at the gold band. “I will confess that part of the reason I came was to see if the rumor Seokmin was raving about was true.”
You let go of his hands, leaning against your seat. “Yeah… A lot has happened since you left.”
“Clearly.” Minghao raised his eyebrow. He scanned the room, picking out your friends, pausing at Jeonghan at the bar before turning back to you. “It’s good, though. I’m, and don’t you dare make fun of me, happy for you.”
You frowned. “What are you talking about?”
“I mean, Jeonghan has things figured out. Like, he has the stability that you need, he’s got a real-life job and everything, and he’s just good for you.”
What had Seokmin told Minghao? Did he think you were married for real?
“I’m not saying that you need to change or anything,” Minghao said quickly. “I just think it’s good for you to be with someone that isn’t… figuring out his life still.”
“Yeah,” you said. You slid into your chair, trying not to think about how even though Minghao lived thousands of miles away, he could still see you struggling.
“I can’t believe you didn’t invite me to the wedding,” he said, still standing beside you.
“Oh, we just had a courthouse thing,” you said. You don’t know why you didn’t tell him the full truth. “It wasn’t a big thing.”
“Well, when you have the real party, I better be invited.”
Despite feeling like your heart had been crumpled into a ball, you rolled your eyes. “Minghao, you’ll be my best man.”
He nodded. “I’d better be.” You managed a few more minutes of small talk before he slipped away to find the rest of your friends.
His words rang through your head. Maybe you really shouldn’t be with Jeonghan, fake or not. Minghao was right, he had his life figured out; as much as he complained about his job, you knew he loved the kids and he was going to spend the rest of his life teaching. You could barely decide on what to wear every morning. Figuring out your future was something you just weren’t ready for.
You liked Jeonghan. You knew that. You remembered your anesthesia induced dream, where you managed to tell him your feelings, the soft kiss he placed on your forehead, but it was just a dream. He didn’t feel the same way, no matter how much you wished it could be true. There was someone else he pined for, and if it was anything like the feelings that were threatening to overwhelm you now, you couldn't help but pity him.
Your feelings didn’t matter, you decided as you watched Minghao join Soonyoung and Seokmin with a backflip in the middle of the dance floor. You wouldn’t mess up Jeonghan’s life any further. You would ask for a divorce. Tomorrow.
Jeonghan finally returned, setting a drink in front of you and laying an arm over your shoulders. “Bear with me,” he whispered into your ear, lips almost brushing against your ear. “I can’t remember her name but she’s been flirting with me all night and even when I told her we’re married, she wouldn’t leave me alone, so, you’re stuck with me for the rest of the night.”
You nodded. You hoped you were looking serenely on your friends, but Jeonghan gently tapped your arm until you turned to face him. “What’s wrong?”
You shrugged. “Tired.” It wasn’t technically a lie. You were tired, but that wasn’t why you didn’t want to be here.
He pulled his chair a little closer, resting his chin on his shoulder. You knew he was just putting on a show to drive away girl-whose-name-was-a-mystery and that the way he was looking at you now wasn’t real. It didn’t make it any easier to bear his gaze.
He tilted his head to the side and smiled, eyes twinkling with the familiar glint that you knew meant trouble. “You want to get out of here?”
You felt your face flush. “Stop joking around.”
He cocked his head and you followed it to where the girl (whose name you thought started with a S) was still eyeing Jeonghan. “If we disappear into a hotel room for a couple hours maybe she’ll get the point.” He’s right, but you can’t stop yourself from imagining what he was implying, making your blush deepen.
“You said you’re tired, you can just hide up there for the rest of the night if you want,” he said, apparently not noticing your embarrassment. “Or you can sit here and avoid everyone for the rest of the night and we can pretend like that girl isn’t eye-fucking me.”
“Let’s go,” you said, standing. Jeonghan took your hand in his, pressing a kiss to your hand that sent shivers up your arm before tugging you across the room, playing the part of a lovesick husband perfectly. You weren’t as good, but you kept your eyes on him and found your smile wasn’t as hard to force as you expected, letting him pull you back into his embrace as you passed through the doors. You cast one glance at S, who looked rather offended. You grinned at her as the doors swung shut, winking even though she probably couldn’t see it from across the room.
Though the show was just for her, it wasn’t until you were alone in the elevator that he finally disentangled himself from you. “Looks like it went pretty well.”
You nodded, staring at your feet rather than facing Jeonghan at your side or in the mirrored walls of the elevator. “She looked sufficiently shut up.”
The doors dinged open and you followed Jeonghan. “We’re rooming together, by the way.” Seungcheol had been in charge of the rooms, setting everyone with roommates and even dropping off bags. There was no reason to think that he would mess anything up.
No reason until now.
“There’s only one bed,” you said in a tiny voice. The door clicked shut behind you, Jeonghan at your side. You stood in the hotel room, bathroom door to your left, closet to your right, king sized bed right in the middle. “I’m going to kill Seungcheol.”
“Actually, it was probably Mingyu,” Jeonghan said, sounding not nearly as unsettled as he should have been. “He called about our rooms and probably mentioned we were married. People I don’t even know were talking to me about it.”
“I’m going to kill them both.”
“It’ll be fine,” he said. “It’s not like it’s the first time.” He’s right, you had shared a bed before, when you were thirteen, and there were four other people shoved onto the bed because having twenty people in one sleepover meant you slept where there was space. “If it really bothers you, I’ll sleep on the floor, or crash with Mingyu and Seungcheol.”
You shook your head. “No, it’s fine, they’ll just make fun of me, and you’re right, it’s not like it's the first time.” No, it was nothing like then. Your heart didn’t pound when he was next to you back then, you never looked at him and wished what was fake could be real.
You flopped onto the bed, legs dangling off the side as you laid on your back. Your heart was beginning to ache thinking about Jeonghan, so you thought about what Minghao said instead. Most of the time you could pretend you were okay with watching everyone you knew move on with their lives and grow into actual adults, but a night like tonight made you feel small. Insignificant. You were yn. Just yn, and normally that was enough, but not tonight.
You felt the bed dip as Jeonghan sat next to you. “Do you want to talk about it?” Of course he knew something was wrong. You turned your head towards him, studying his frown which had concern etched into every crease on his forehead.
You didn’t think you were choked up, but when you said, “No,” in a tiny voice, tears were suddenly threatening to spill onto your cheeks. You turned your head away from Jeonghan, sure that you would fold under his gaze and start crying.
“You should just go back down,” you said. “I’ll be fine.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he said, voice gentle but firm. “You’re stuck with me.” You felt a tear slip away, angrily wiping it off the side of your face. “We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, but I won’t leave you alone, yn. I—I won’t.”
Why? Why did he have to be so kind, and sweet, and loving, and the perfect best friend, fake fiancee, fake husband? Why did he make it so hard to do anything but love him?
Love wasn’t fair, you always knew that, but it felt cruel now. You couldn’t stop the tears now, turning fully on your side though it was too late to hide them from Jeonghan. He slid next to you, pulling you off the mattress and into his arms, and you knew it was dumb to sob into the arms of the very person that was making you cry but you did it anyway because maybe that’s what you were doomed to suffer. You clung to him, even as your heart was breaking.
.
.
You woke up to the sun in your eyes. You frowned as you opened your eyes, blinking against the light. Usually you closed your blinds so that you could sleep in. It took another moment for you to remember that you were in a hotel room, not your bed at home. That didn’t explain why Jeonghan was wrapped around you, his arm acting as your pillow. Your frown deepened as you met his eyes, finding him staring down at you.
“Why are we cuddling?”
He snorted. “I should be asking you that, since I clearly remember telling you this is my side of the bed last night.” You lifted your head off of him enough to see that you had indeed crossed onto his side. But he wasn’t innocent either, with one arm tucked under your head and the other wrapped around your waist, holding your bodies together. You decided not to mention it because you didn’t want him to let go just yet.
“How long have you been up?” You asked with a yawn.
He shrugged, shoulder lifting your head. “I don’t know, maybe twenty minutes?”
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” You said, gently slapping his chest.
“You looked peaceful,” he said. You looked at him, peering down at you with a soft smile. The morning sunlight that fell through the window cast a halo around him, making his dark hair glow. There was something in his gaze, something you had seen so many times but suddenly felt new, and for the first time you let yourself wonder what it would be like if your feelings weren’t unrequited. Maybe you were still dazed from waking up, but you thought maybe it wouldn’t be very different from how he was with you now.
“Jeonghan,” you said slowly. “Mingyu mentioned something to me.”
“Oh boy.”
“About you.” Your heart was pounding as you forced the next words out. “About how there’s someone that you want to date. For real.”
He was quiet, though he didn’t break your gaze. Finally, he said, “Yes.”
It took all of the courage you had in you to say, “Who?”
He stared at you and because it was Jeonghan, you knew he was trying to figure out what to say. You could practically see the gears turning in his head as he tried to get the words out. The longer it took the more your heart sank.
“We should get divorced,” you said, turning your head to stare at the window, the wall, anything but those damn eyes. “Teeth have been successfully removed, I’m not in debt, and there’s no other reason to stay married.” Especially not when there’s someone else. You couldn’t quite bring yourself to say it.
You peeked at Jeonghan and found you couldn’t decipher the frown on his face. It felt wrong to not know what he was thinking. But maybe it was your own fault. You had been keeping things from him yourself, bottling up the emotions and pretending the love you felt wasn’t head over heels idiocy. You couldn’t be hurt that he was so far away when you had built the distance yourself.
“I love you,” you whispered. “I’m in love with you. I know that there’s someone else, and I’m not saying this to try to win you over or anything, but I think you should know. That I love you.”
You’ve seen Jeonghan speechless three times in your life. The first was in elementary school when he was wrongfully accused of stealing candy from the teacher, the first time he found out there were consequences for his “harmless” pranks. The second was when his girlfriend dumped him, the only time in your entire life that he didn’t tell you what happened. This was the third time, opening his mouth and trying to answer but unable to get any words out.
“I’m an idiot, I know,” you said. “Who falls in love with their fake husband?” Even as the final stake was driven into your heart, you tried to joke. You started to push off his chest, fully prepared to run away and avoid Jeonghan for the rest of your life, but his arm tightened around your waist, pulling you even closer.
“It’s you,” he sputtered. “There’s no one else, it’s you that I want to be with, that I want to date, that I want to marry, one day. Yn, I have loved you for so long, I don’t know what to do, so please, just give me a second?”
It was your turn to be speechless. “It’s me?”
He laughed, face finally breaking into a wide smile. “Of course it’s you, who else could it be?”
“Maybe one of those moms that Mingyu says are always flirting with him, or one of your coworkers, or anyone that’s ever met you because, seriously, how could anyone not be in love with you?” You rested your head back onto his shoulder.
“Well, it’s you. It’s always you.” He leaned a little closer, brushing his nose against yours. You swallowed, remembering your first kiss with him. You wondered if your second kiss would be as good.
“Can I kiss you?” You asked when he didn’t move any closer. He nodded, though the movement caused your lips to brush against one another. You leaned into it, arm snaking from his chest to his neck, feeling his hand digging into your waist, trying to pull you impossibly closer. You don’t know how long the kiss was, feeling like a lifetime had passed when you finally pulled away.
“Not quite as good as the first time, but it’ll do,” you said, grinning at Jeonghan’s frown. “You have stinky breath.”
“You have stinky breath,” he said, “But if you’re talking about the restaurant, that wasn’t our first kiss.”
You thought back, trying to remember any other kiss. There was none during your fake marriage (other than the anesthesia-induced dream that you were beginning to think might have been real) and nothing had ever happened before that. Except…
“When we were twelve?” You laughed. “That does not count.”
“A kiss is a kiss,” he said. “In fact, I remember you saying it was your first kiss.”
You slapped his chest. “It was your first kiss too!”
“So you admit it!” Jeonghan was laughing, clinging to you as you pretended to push him away. He wrapped both arms around your waist, tucking his chin onto your shoulder. He waited until you met his eyes. “I love you.”
You kissed his nose. “I love you, too.” You didn’t run away when he pulled you close again, sliding cold fingers to the back of your neck and pressing his forehead to yours. You were certain he was going to kiss you again.
“We really do need to get divorced, though,” you said, laughing when he sighed. “I want to do things in the right order, date you for real.” You kissed him again, just because you could, watching the smile quickly return to his face when you pulled away.
“I do want to marry you, one day,” you said, resting your head against the pillow for the first time. You held up your left hand, studying the way the gold caught the morning light and seemed to glow.
“You better not say that in front of Joshua,” Jeonghan said. “He’s had our wedding planned since he found out I was in love with you.”
“Wait, he knows?” You frowned at him. “How long have you been in love with me?”
Jeonghan’s eyes wandered to the ceiling as he scratched the back of his head. “Been in love? No idea. Too long. But when I realized, we were still living together, and ever since then I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you.”
“That’s why you moved out?” You wrapped your arm around his waist, tucking yourself onto his side.
He nodded. “I needed to know if I was actually in love or just spending too much time with you.” He played with your hair. “I am in love with you. And I’m sorry I was too much of a coward to say it sooner.”
You found yourself staring at the ring again. It was such a simple thing, just a band of gold that you and Jeonghan had agreed on with the intent to return it when the ruse was up. You really had only gotten them because you were worried someone might call out the insurance fraud.
“I don’t want to take it off,” you confessed.
“Then don’t,” Jeonghan said softly. When you looked at him, he was without his usual smirk, eyes serious.
“Five minutes and you’re already proposing?” You asked.
“Well, I already got you into bed,” he said with a grin. “But seriously, I don’t want to take off my ring. I’m going to marry you, someday.”
“I think that sounds nice,” you said, tucking your head back onto his chest. “So, Joshua is our wedding planner? Do we really trust him?”
“You know, if you told me a year ago, I would have said ‘fuck no,’ but he’s dedicated. He has a pinterest and everything, a color scheme, a list of the best rated bakeries and catering services, photographers, videographers, venues, anything you can think of, he has it. I can’t prove it, but I swear he has a date reserved already.” Jeonghan continued to describe his friend’s vision for your wedding, but you found yourself staring at him, watching him talk.
Jeonghan has been by your side for most of your life, your best friend. You knew everything about him, from the way he liked his tea to his obsession with tiny utensils. Still, being friends and being lovers were two very different things. You should have been scared at how much was going to change, but in the little bubble of your hotel room and the magical glow of the morning sun, you felt nothing but hope.

The Charming Man| Neil Lewis x gn!Reader
Tumblr media
Mars rants about things: LITERALLY LOVE HIM SO MUCH and he’s literally The Smiths coded idc what you mfs gotta say. And his favorite Smiths song is ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’ because yeah i said so. But in this fic he shades Y/N so much for listening to The Smiths bc he’s a little asshole and I love him.
Warnings: Cursing, Neil being a hater but its playful banter bc him and Y/N are childhood friends, they are in an established relationship of course, eww holding hands, EWWWW KISSING, y/n threatens Neil once but its playful banter and they are joking, pet names both cute and cringey to annoy Neil, they dance in the end bc why not :D! Neil loves the smiths but doesn’t want to admit it.
Word count:798 words
An average boring day in Gumshoe Video and there you stood organizing the tapes and sorting out what needed to be specifically on display for inviting customers, and also because there was an upcoming event for specifically dark detective movies, and he wanted to be prepared beforehand. Your head bobbed along to the song playing in the speakers, slightly swaying your hips to the song. “What she asked of me at the end of the day, Caligula would have blushed.” You were singing along to the song and then low and behold your boyfriend Neil walks in from his office “ Y’know babe I don’t know why you listen to this boring crap; studies show that music will slowly rot your brain as time goes by.” You chuckle in response to this “Neil my love, Shut up. And what study even says that? And so be honest with me Neil, you like The Smiths, and may I add, I caught you nodding along to the song literally 3 days ago.” He looked so shocked and offended at that statement, it was like you told him his movies and store suck. “I do not?? You listen to them so much it gets irritating sometimes and it’s completely normal for a human being to nod along to the sound of music even if they hate it.”  You couldn’t contain yourself now. His face was red as an apple as you continued “Also this is why you love me! I’m not going to ruin your chances of the universe punishing you with eternity because you like a music group that started in England way back in the 80’s.” You jabbed him in the arm playfully. “And this is why I love you Neil, your stupid ass always seems to have a smart-ass opinion on everything I do because Mr. Neil Lewis has to be the king of the world and cinema!” And you both cracked up at the fact that you're actually right about that.
“Can I join you?” He was teasing you now and was walking towards you and placed a hand on the shelf you were organizing. You hand him a tape and continue. Then he says out of nowhere, playing with the tape in his hands instead of helping. "I love it when you’re this opinionated and you think there's nothing bad about you because you're always the leader of everything and you have to get the red crayon.” “Yeah, yeah whatever Neil, continue talking about kindergarten Neil and watch when I clock you again in your fucking nose. On the same spot too!” After that was said, he walked away to sit at the counter and his gaze stood on you. You were humming along to the song and then once you finished you dusted your hands off and walked towards Neil and held his hands swinging them side to side sort of dancing. “What are you even doing Y/N…” “Shh shut up and dance with me.” He tried to pull away, but you immediately wrapped your arms around his waist. “No, I don’t-” You cut him off with a kiss to his cheek “Come on please Neil for me, please cupcake” “No Y/N. I refuse.” “Please sweet cheeks.” You had to contain yourself from laughing as he cringed at the name you gave him “What is wrong with you Y/N?” “Come on princess, I’ll cook dinner tonight and we can watch any movie you want even the most unfathomable movies to exist.” He sighed and rolled his eyes. “Fine because that offer sounds too irresistible.” You clapped and dragged him away from the counter for more space, wrapping your arms around his neck and resting your head on his chest, He rested his arms around your hips and laid his head on top of yours swaying both of you, Neil softly started humming the song ‘The Charming Man’ by The Smiths and your jaw dropped, “So you DO like The Smiths after all!” you looked up at him and he shushed you and put your head back to its previous position, “Shh sweetheart, I was joking with you the whole time, I like some of their songs.” Your eyes rolled at that, but you couldn’t help but blush and feel content with how you two were right now.
Moving your arms to his waist and hugging him tighter you sighed “I love you, Neil Lewis. I love you so much baby.” He moved his head and gave you a kiss and you melted into and eventually pulled away for air. “I love you too Y/N L/N, you're all I need to keep me alive.” And then the moment of passion and cuteness was ruined by a customer walking in. ‘Always at the wrong moments huh?'

hii so I’m a little shy with requests but could you do a team bucciarati or la unita (your pick) x child!reader who basically has a super powerful stand but they are completely oblivious to it? Like I could imagine them trying to inform reader and readers just like “I like flowers and ice cream : )”
Okay but this is such a great idea-
La Unita x Oblivious Child Reader
Tumblr media
Okay, how did this happen??
The main reason, they took you in because of your stand
It's not every day you meet someone with THAT MUCH potential
Plus your powers were supposed to help the boss himself
So yeah, you were supposed to be quite useful
The problem is, you don't really care about any of this "ohmygod you have such a powerful stand" stuff
Nuh uh, not even a little
Understandable, you are a child after all
In your defence, whatever you like doing, it is much more interesting than all these serious meetings and trainings
Uh uh, yeah, what were you saying? I am a powerful individual and- OH MY GOD IS THAT A PUPPY??
Squalo and Tiziano are pretty chill about it
I mean, you're a child
Surely you'll be more interested in butterflies or cartoons more than that grown-up stuff
Do you even know what the mafia is?
Generally, they just want you to enjoy your childhood
Very supportive about your interests
You want to go out for icecream? Sure, we'll get the car stared
Oh, you want to play with legos? No more words needed. We'll get you a full cart of those
It's like they have a child of their own
Carne is not worried either
Also likes to spend time with you
Mostly he just listens to your bubbling about a cool bird you saw or what a good breakfast you had
Sometimes you reming him his younger self
Powers or not, not one dares to take away your childhood just because you got a stand you didn't even ask for
So.. Cioccolata and Secco..
They don't even interact with you
Cio is just busy doing his own stuff and Secco blindly follows him around
Maybe it's for the best
Ciocolatta is interested in that stand of yours tho
But for now, when you're not even fully aware what stand is, he's just keeping his distance
He doesn't need a child who follows him and Secco around just to talk about childlike stuff
But as I said, maybe it's for the best
The one who WANTS you to develop your powers is Diavolo, of course
If Doppio is still somehow bearable, Diavolo is obsessed with the idea that you'll be a great addition to La Unita
"That is why you need to improve your stand, to be the greatest-"
"I saw a cute kitten today"
It's driving him insane at some point
How can you not want to be the best??
You don't want to beat all your enemies??
But it's not like you even have enemies
You try to keep distance with him
Good for you honestly
Overall, it is chaotic sometimes
But if you just gonna hang out with Squalo or Tiz.. or Carne it's gonna be fine
They're really good parental figures for you too
Such a nice bonus

NOTHING SWEETER — BODE LEONE: [Spring Prompts]
Tumblr media
A/N: This will probably flop since it’s basically a ghost town in this tag but here I am! Plus it was also requested for me to write for Bode (again) lol which I don’t have a problem with, we love that guy over here. They’re wrong for going on break after giving us what they gave us! I also just want to say that I really miss Max’s curls but here it goes!!
PROMPT IS FROM HERE + I’m using: 18.  “Damn, I hate pollen.” + 8.  “IT’S A DEER!” “Yeah, and?” “I CAN SEE IT!”
<- read my previous anthology prompt here.
⋆˙⟡♡✿ ⋆˙⟡♡✿ ⋆˙⟡♡✿ ⋆˙⟡♡✿ ⋆˙⟡♡✿ ⋆˙⟡ ♡
Eve was lucky you loved her.
Being up this early on your first day back in Edgewater to give her a ride to Three Rock (her car was in the shop) was a lot to ask! Not really! but what kind of friend would you be if you didn’t complain a good portion about it on the ride up to camp?
“If I get you an iced coffee, would you love me again?” Eve pinched the space in between her brows, elbow resting against the car door.
You hummed while using one hand to tap on your chin, “Add in a Mozzarella, Pesto, and tomato bagel then we’ll talk.”
Eve twisted her lips upwards, “…that’s a thing? Whatever happened to a simple cream cheese with eggs and avocado?”
“You’re lucky I’m not asking for a soft boiled egg stuffed with caviar.” You respond as you reduce your speed once you cross the bridge, spying the familiar deli spot up ahead.
Eve scoffed as she side eyed you, “oh yeah, Switzerland done made you bougie.”
Which earned a laugh from you as you pulled the Toyota 4Runner into the small parking lot. If you weren’t a bundle of nerves you would have got out of the car with Eve to see what changed about the deli you spent many afternoons in with your old friends. However you let your mind wander a bit as you stared out into edgewater’s view.
You were home…except your childhood home was just a memory now that your divorced parents no longer resided in Edgewater. So you crashed at Eve’s although you were completely fine staying in a hotel since Jake talked you out of an air bnb after watching some movie called, “Barbarian,” and you were tired of hearing the statistics and other real life horror stories he pulled out of his ass. Eve was your number one best friend and she was more than willing to open up her place for a friend like you.
As you took up a interest in archery and later turned into a professional Archer, you were inspired to see what the world had in store so the sooner you got out of Edgewater, the better it was for you. Some just didn’t get it (your parents mainly, with your mother being an orthopedic surgeon and your father a fire chief before his MS took over) and expected you to start your own roots here. It was kind of a thing here in this small town, that you were to begin again and build your own legacy. However you were in the tiny group of odd’s that wanted more than the expectations hanging over your head.
Which is why you were proud to say that you’ve been participating in the Olympics every few years because of your passion for archery. Of course you had people down your neck all throughout your career but you still stood as tall as you could.
Now you were back home in the place that was full of doubts but the tightness in your chest wasn’t as noticeable the closer you got to camp.
“Thanks for dropping me off, I appreciate it.” Eve starts as she spots a few inmates hanging around on the yard already, “If you stick around for a minute I’ll even do you a solid and send Bode your way. Since I know it’ll be difficult otherwise.”
Taking a deep inhale you say, “I still can’t believe he’s here.”
“Yeah well…if he stays on the right track this time he’ll be out even sooner.” Eve tells, “He’s still a big pain in all of our asses but I think it would do him some good to see you…you did come all this way.”
It’s been years since you last saw each other but you came back for Riley’s funeral and you reached out to Bode when he moved away to a few towns over and changed his last name. You tried to be there even being ocean’s apart but when Bode felt low, it always felt like he wanted to take the world on his shoulder’s and find a way to make it spin again. Yet that landed him in prison and Eve had no problem filling you in on everything in between.
Would he even want to see you? It’s not like your relationship turned sour or anything…it’s just been awhile being in contact with each other. You weren’t nearly this anxious seeing Eve and doubted you would be when you had lunch with Jake and Cara—which was still weird to you—But being near Bode was different from everybody else and you knew that.
“I did…didn’t I?” You loll your head to face Eve, who studies it for a moment before dipping her head.
She tapped her hand against the outside of the door, whispering into the spring air, “it’ll be fine. He’s in a much better headspace and you’re still family no matter where you disappear off to, you got that?”
A watery smile goes Eve’s way before she leaves you to collect yourself. You’re pulling your mirror down from the sun visor, patting underneath your eyes and beginning to second guess yourself. You were here for two weeks and there was no way that you planned on not seeing Bode. You ran into his parents just last night at the bar, craving some wings before heading to Eve’s, just to be received with warm arms and classic banter from the Leone’s.
They were the parents you could talk to more than your own. If you weren’t crashing at Eve’s then you would definitely be at the Leone’s but then Bode and Cara happened so that’s when some of the distance was created. They didn’t last, like most teenage relationships but out of respect you felt like it was the right thing to do.
It felt right being back, even if it was only temporary.
Maybe that’s just how you had to view Bode’s situation. He wasn’t a temporary kind of friend although you couldn’t socialize as much but you tried to be hopeful. Even climbed out of the car pacing back and forth, not paying much attention to anyone around until you spotted the green dust decorating the navy car.
Scowling in disgust, you swiped the arm of your jacket around the hood of your car before cringing at the greenery you wiped on your sweatpants afterwards.
“Damn, I hate pollen.” A voice comes from behind, which makes you slowly stand up straight and glance over your shoulder.
There he was.
Bode Leone, standing in the flesh, hands deep in his jacket pockets, and a small smile on his lips.
You fully turn to face him and tilt your head to the side, “Didn’t I tell you once before that Orange isn’t your color?”
Bode lifts his shoulders with humor in his blue-green eyes as he motions towards the spot on you, “yeah, well maybe green isn’t yours either.”
You scoff as you motion to your outfit, “what? You don’t think I’m pulling it off?”
The blond chuckles as he takes a step towards you, “As long as you don’t start itching then sure, whatever you say.”
“Oh,” you scratch at the back of your hand and shoot a glare at the man who’s got crinkles by his eyes now, “why did you have to go and say that Bode! Now I’m doing it!”
“Sorry! It’s just that I sorta remembered that you were sensitive to almost everything including air.” He says to you, teasing somewhat, now standing face to face with you.
Rolling your eyes you couldn’t help but to smile at that. You didn’t know what it was growing up in high school, you were highly allergic to almost everything which landed you in the nurses office a lot but it seemed to relax as you reached your twenties and moved away. You always joked that maybe it was Edgewater that was making you sick. Yet the longer you stood in this town and interacted with not only Eve but Bode, you knew that wasn’t completely true.
“It’s good to see you, Bo.” You lightly shove his shoulder back while he nods in agreement, “can I give you a hug?”
Bode blinks the furrow of his brows away as if you were being ridiculous, “of course you can.”
And you’re cradling the back of his head while his fingers are at your spine, swaying from side to side in a firm but gentle squeeze. Then he’s burying his nose into your shoulder and the feel of the embrace tells you that this was meant to be.
When your eyes open, you realize that you could live just fine in Bode’s arms. You remember your final kiss goodbye in Drayscott, one month before you left the country and one month before Bode attempted to pull off a robbery—it was the sweetest thing—the kiss obviously! because it should have been happened. It didn’t come out of nowhere, it was full of intention, full of wonder and love but you were aware that it wasn’t the right time to be something more.
Maybe some day it could be.
Little did you know, Bode kept that memory not far away. He was kicking himself for the what if’s but when he manages to pull himself out of the blue, he thinks about the best possibility being you.
The both of you could be good together, could see the world together and he wasn’t sure how it all looked but he was willing to imagine.
A gasp makes Bode pull away, alarmed.
“IT’S A DEER!” You point, over Bode’s shoulder.
He glances over his shoulder to in fact see the said brown animal, peering at the two of you, “Yeah, and?”
“I CAN SEE IT!” You attempt to lower your voice but the excitement got the best of you as you almost bounce on your toes.
Bode’s still lightly has a hand resting on your waist now, as they watch the beautiful creature sniff at the grass and carried on deeper and away into the woods.
“Are you telling me they don’t have deer out in Switzerland?” There’s amusement in Bode’s voice as he peeks back at you.
“I’ve been in the city mainly but it’s been awhile since I’ve really been one with nature, you know? Which reminds me, I’ll have to make time to go off roading with this baby one of these days. Or hiking.” You jam a thumb back at the car.
Bode nods, “you’ll be careful won’t you? Don’t get so easily impressed with animals, not all of them will have the best intentions.”
You were an animal lover back in the day, so much to the point you wouldn’t dissect a frog sophomore year, which landed you in the principal’s office.
“What?” You blow a raspberry, “I’m like freaking Princess Aurora. Animals love me.”
Bode squints his eyes, “…didn’t you get bit by a goat when we were like what? Fourteen?”
“You’re really killing my vibe man and I don’t like that.” You yank on the end of Bode’s hair who laughs again.
He raises his hands in surrender and grips your wrist from his head, “alright, alright. My bad but if it makes you feel better, I still have that scar after that horse kicked the shit out of me when we had too many drinks partying at Tamsin Kadoka’s farm.”
“Really?”
Bode nods, “yeah, right on my lower back and it’s shaped like Utah.”
You meet each other’s gaze before bursting out laughing in unison at yet another memory. He’s gripping your shoulder again while he’s got your attention, “just promise me when you’re out there in those woods that you’re careful. I’d hate it if something happened to you.”
“Well the feeling is mutual, Bo.” You state, “you just had to go on and choose firefighting huh?”
Bode shrugs, “Must be in the Leone blood.”
“Yeah, must be.” You murmur, staring at him like there’s stars getting ready to rise in your eyes and Bode can’t help but to lean forward to place a lingering kiss on your forehead.
His facial hair pricks you but you don’t mind.
“Leone!” A guard calls out, which means your time is up for now.
You hold his hand, interlocking your fingers, which he squeezes with a smile to match, eyes wandering all over your features, almost as if to tell himself that you are in fact really here.
“Until next time?” He questions.
You smile, “See you soon, Bode.”
And he grins at you, those crinkles by his eyes returning before he slips his hand from yours.
This was brief but sweet and you’re mentally kicking yourself for thinking that this could go wrong.
You’re watching Bode walk away from you and he can’t help but to jog backwards to get another look at you. Almost as if you would disappear again and you would never see him again. When he turns back around, heading to the guard on shift who announces the inmates need to get ready for line ups inside at the bunks, he meets up with Cole on his way.
“Who was that?” Cole nudges his chin in your direction.
You’re seated in the driver’s seat, window down, leaning on your arm as you watch the men in Orange make their way back inside.
Catching Bode’s eye, you wave before rolling your window almost all the way up and pull away from the camp site.
“Someone i would like to give the world and more to once im out of here.”
Cole is smirking but appreciates the honesty as he claps Bode on his shoulder, already knowing what that look is for. “Then let’s make it happen, Leone! Nothing sweeter than having something on the outside to fight for, you know?”
“I agree.” Bode pulls his gaze from your retreating car, finding himself standing up straighter as they awaited for Eve to start their day.
When Eve’s brown eyes set on Bode’s, he just barely tips in his head in thanks, which the woman echo’s as she carries on along the line.
Bode already can’t wait for the next day he can get reconnected with you in person again so, he bites his smile away.

Tumblr media
The heat is almost unbearable as you clamber up to your attic.
Of all times to have a heatwave, Mother Nature just had to pull one while you were in the midst of moving out.
"Sohee! I need help with this box!" you yelled.
"Coming!" your best friend shouts in reply, running up the stairs.
"It's okay, I'll help you." Seunghan interjects, already at the entrance of the attic.
"Thanks," you sigh, smiling tiredly at your other best friend. "This one's insanely heavy."
Yet with complete ease, he lifts it up in his arms. "Don't worry about it," he assures you. "That's why I'm here to help anyway."
Sohee clears his throat, waiting impatiently at the bottom of the stairs. "Hey, she called for me first." he states.
"It's fine, I got it." Seunghan shrugs.
Sohee scoffs.
He knows that Seunghan's your childhood best friend, but Sohee really disliked him.
"Are you gonna take this box with you?" Seunghan sets the dusty box down, sneezing as the dust billows in his face.
The snicker on Sohee's face is rubbed right off when he sees you rub Seunghan's shoulder with a soft, "Bless you!".
"I don't know," you hummed. "Let me check what's inside of it first."
A surprised gasp escapes your lips when you're met by the sight of countless Polaroids and stacks of photo albums.
"Seunghan, look!" you say excitedly, pulling one out. "It's photos from that beach trip when we were in third grade!"
The elder sits closer to you, a fond smile of surprise and awe on his face as he rests his head on your shoulder.
"Wow, that was so long ago." he murmurs.
Sohee scrunches his nose in jealousy, sitting beside you.
"See, I told you that you dropped my pizza!" you laughed, pointing at a photo of a nine-year-old you wailing beside Seunghan, a slice of pizza by your feet while he smiled sheepishly.
"You owe me one now." you teased, pinching his arm lightly.
"Fine, fine." he agrees, jokingly rolling his eyes.
As if your stomach was listening to the conversation, it growled. "It's a sign," you say confidently. "You need to buy pizza for our lunch now."
Seunghan giggles at you as he gets up. "What do you want?" he asks, dusting off his jeans.
"Anything's fine." you say absentmindedly, back to flipping through another photo album.
He hums in response, walking downstairs. "I'll be back in half an hour!" he shouts, before closing the door behind him and driving off to the local Domino's.
"He didn't even ask if I wanted any!" Sohee complains. "He kinda sucks, Y/N."
You click your tongue, hitting his shoulder. "He'll get some for you, don't worry."
He's about to argue with you again when you cut him off short, holding up a polaroid to his face.
"Look, isn't this cute? It's me and Seunghan at prom!"
It is a cute picture, but Sohee boils with jealousy when he sees Seunghan's arms around your waist.
He has to fight the urge to make a sarcastic remark, because this was probably the only time he was going to get alone with you today.
"Yeah, it's cute." he agrees, forcing a smile.
If he had to look at another photo of you and Seunghan being cute together, he thinks he's going to be sick.
"Hey, why not we go downstairs and watch a movie?" the boy suggests.
Thankfully, your eyes light up at his suggestion, nodding readily.
By the time Seunghan makes it back, the both of you are already halfway through 'Finding Nemo'.
"You're back!" you cheer, getting up to help him with the pizzas.
Sohee sighs for the umpteenth time, lazily getting off the couch and trailing into the kitchen.
He's not sure what he's exactly upset about.
If anything, he's not even sure if he's upset or insecure.
Because for almost a year, Sohee had been crushing on you.
He loved your smile. He loved the way you were always so positive and practical about things. He loved you.
But to suddenly see this handsome, smart, and funny guy who happened to be your childhood best friend get all touchy and close with you made him feel like he stood no chance in comparison.
"Sohee," you call, holding plates. "You good?"
"Yup," Sohee lies, mustering another fake smile. "Just thinking about something."
"Here, take this slice." Seunghan says, putting a slice of Hawaiian pizza on your plate.
"You still remember my favorite, huh?" you chuckle.
"I remember your favorite too!" Sohee suddenly shouts.
He had gotten up so abruptly from his seat that the chair toppled over, startling you even more. His face was as red as the tomato sauce on the pizza, his eyes wide and his fists clenched.
"Are you oka-"
"N-No, I'm not okay. Can I talk with you upstairs for a while?" he manages to say, a mix of anger and adrenaline rushing through his system.
Seunghan stares at the both of you warily as you make your way upstairs after Sohee.
"I think you should go," you mouth to Seunghan.
He flashes you a thumbs up, packing up some pizza for himself to take home.
The soft clicking of your front door closing after Seunghan leaving is the same time when Sohee flops down on your bed, burying his face in his hands.
"Hey, what's wrong? Are you okay?" you ask, worried.
He stays silent.
"You've been upset ever since Seunghan came over." you say, sitting down beside him.
"Well, because I like you!" he blurts.
Neither of you says another word, merely staring at each other in surprise.
Sohee wants to facepalm himself, because this was definitely not the way he wanted to confess to you.
But since he already did, he might as well salvage whatever he could, continue, and hope for the best.
"I really like you, Y/N." he starts. "And I'm upset because you seem so much closer with Seunghan, and he's so much handsomer and funnier than me, and I was wondering if you liked him or whether he liked you, because it seemed like it."
He's breathless by the end of his ramble, contributing to how red his face was.
"I know that's really immature of me, but I really like you so much. I wanna be with you," he continues earnestly. "I wanna be the one who makes you laugh like that, the one who can look after you, the one who treats you better than anyone else can."
Your heart melts at his words, and you gently stroke his cheek.
"Sohee, you always have." you whisper, taking his hands into yours.
"Really?" he mutters.
You nod, squeezing his hand. "And don't worry about Seunghan. I only see him as a friend, that's all. It's the same for him too. We just grew up together that way."
Sohee lets out a breath he didn't even know he was holding, a sense of relief washing over him.
"Besides," you add. "I like cute boys over handsome boys."
His eyes widen, hoping you meant what he thought you meant.
"Yeah, I like you too." you giggled, pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
Sohee's eyes widen even more, and he thinks they just might pop out of his head.
"Did you just kiss me?" he mumbles, frozen in disbelief.
The smile on your face falters, and you worry you took it too far.
"I'm so sorry, are you uncomfortable with that?"
Sohee doesn't even waste time on his words, opting to show you his reply to that instead.
He kisses you again, so full of passion and love while he pulls you in closer to him by the waist. You wrap your arms around his neck, eyes shut as you take in how his lips felt against yours.
You always found his lips pretty, but to feel them against yours was something else.
The warmth of his tongue, the softness of his lips, the comfortingly musky scent of his sweater, and the flavor of his vanilla chapstick were enough to make your head spin.
Somewhere through the kiss, Sohee ended up lying down while you stayed on top of him, both your lips and tongues never separated.
"I think we need to stop." he suddenly says, breathless as he reluctantly pulls away.
"W-What? Why?" you ask, already missing kissing him.
"If we keep going, I think we're gonna end up doing more than just kissing." he pants.
It takes you a while to get what he means, but you really don't care when you do.
"I'm fine with anything as long as it's with you." you mumble, trying to kiss him again.
"Are you sure?" Sohee asks, dodging your kiss. He didn't want to pressure you into anything; your comfort was going to always be his first priority.
"More than sure, babe." you whisper against his lips.
Sohee's heart almost explodes at the new term, smiling as he lets you lead the kiss.
It was all a dream come true for him, with the girl of his dreams.

The Father and Father Figures (Pt. 1)
pairings: rafe cameron x mom!reader, (platonic!topper x reader and platonic!kelce x reader in the next parts)
Tumblr media
warnings: mentions of abuse, angst, fluff, swearing, semi short, not proofread or edited at all
Summary: after your abusive babydaddy kicked you out, you had no choice but to return to your old friends. But later the past comes back to haunt you.
A/n: This is my first fic im posting on here, so feedback/requests are greatly appreciated. Pt 2 in a few days <3
part 2
After your soon to be babydaddy found out you were pregnant, he took everything from you. Every expensive item he's ever bought you now belonged to him. You reached out to your parents for help, but they were more concerned over the fact you got pregnant out of wedlock. They claimed "You are an embarrassment to the y/l/n legacy." That brings you here, a month later, on the balcony of Tanny Hill with all of your belongings in a single backpack. Not suprisingly, Rafe Cameron was completely passed out on the couch with the remnants of a party.
You begin picking up cups full of who knows what, trying to let Rafe sleep by not making much noise. but your attempt to let him sleep quickly failed as your clumsy self tripped over air and landed right on top of the Cameron boy.
"what the hell" he mumbles sleepily as he rubs his eyes with his left arm. he looks down to the added weight on top of him "y/n?"
"Hi" you try to pull off your tumble by tightly embracing him.
"Bear, what are you doing here?" he smiles and you do as well but at the childhood nickname. His big arms wrap around you gently. You look up and he sees your tear stained face, his smile going away quicker than it came. "oh please don't cry, if it's your dick head of a boyfriend again I'll kill that guy, i swear."
"no, we broke up like a month ago" you sigh.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" He asks, slightly upset over the fact you never mentioned it to him despite communicating the past few weeks.
"rafe im pregnant" you practically whisper. Rafe stares at you for a moment, eyes wide in shock as tears flow down your face despite his plea not to. "I don't know what to do, he kicked me out and my parents pretty much disinherited me and i-"
"Y/n" he says as he sits up, making you sit up as well "We'll figure this out together, okay? I won't let you go at this alone" His words only made you sob even harder but only because, well, rafe is notorious for being the biggest asshole on the island. But he never was to you. he always was there for you, despite all the shit he goes through himself.
You back away from his embrace and had to come clean with him "Rafe, I appreciate your offer, but I really don't think having you around a baby is the best idea" you question. "You're still on drugs and drinking and i really don't think you'd be the best influence on a child or me."
He takes a deep breath to keep his temper under control "Fuck, y/n I just want to help. I'll change for you. I'd do fucking anything for you."
"that is so toxic listen to yourself." you chuckle "You don't need to change who you are because of me."
"I know i don't need to but i just really want to, please give me a chance"
"Rafe-"
"y/n" he begs with those striking blue eyes that you just cant bring yourself to say no to
"fine you have 7 months" you caved.
He smiles as he tells you "I'll make it the best seven months of your life" He ruffles your hair and you scrunch your nose. Rafe leans back to look at you, making sure you're okay, your tears still falling but a smile plastered on your face. "you're too adorable to ever have to go through all that shit he put you through"
"I still have no place to stay" you mumble almost to yourself.
"Stay with me. I'm sure Ward wouldn't mind having you back here; he still talks about you." That didn't surprise you either because Ward trusted you with Rafe, which is a pretty huge deal.
"Oh yeah? what does he say about me?" Rafe's face turns slightly pink as he diverts eye contact with you. oh my god is he blushing?
"Nothing he just says you're a good influence on me, shit like that." You knew he was lying but you decided to not say anything, so you just nodded. He stands up and reaches his hand out to help you up.
"I'm still fully capable of helping myself up, but thanks" you grin as you take his hand.
"Anything for you, bear" He smiles and leads you up the stairs to his room. "You can stay in my room, the beds all yours I'll either sleep on the couch or on the floor"
"You don't have to do that, Rafe" You say in an attempt to be humble, but you knew Rafe wasn't giving you a choice.
"I know i don't y/n, I just really really want to help out, okay?" you hesitantly nod "In fact, we're going shopping tomorrow" he says picking you up and gently throwing you on the bed.
"Rafe" you giggle staring into his eyes. You just stare at each other for what felt like eternity, but rafe eventually ruins the moment and heads towards the door.
"I'm going downstairs to clean up. you should probably sleep y/n, no offense you look exhausted."
"No, Rafe, stay" you scooch over making a space for him. He doesn't hesitate and slides next to you so you're facing each other. You come closer towards him to bury your head in his chest, and doze off. And as soon as you're asleep, Rafe kisses the top of your head and one of his large hands finds your back, pulling you impossibly closer.
a/n: the ending kinda sucks but oh well. lmk if u wanna be tagged in pt 2

If you need help. Please get help. You are loved, and your life is valued. Even if you don’t see it, you are loved.
The Monaco Grand Prix is in a few days and you will be slowly preparing for tonight’s dinner. Charles decided to organize a small evening for the pilots and their respective companions. It is in a magnificent hotel overlooking the sea that Charles booked the room and privatized the chef of the restaurant. The luxurious life of Monaco in its greatest fullness, you are always amazed by all the secrets that this small principality shelters.
You were third-wheeling your best friend Heidi to that party. She and Daniel invited you after running into you in the afternoon at the marina. Since you were little you know most of the pilots. So you are happy to have been invited to celebrate this new year of racing in Monaco with them. The evening was going well until the subject of the conversation crumbled into something darker.
“I gotta admit, I’m getting kind of confused.” Ends up saying, Checo rubbing his nose with his glass.
“Oh, my god, me too. What if someone says, “I am not sleeping with you tonight?” And then... an hour later, they’re like, “Eh, fine.” What’s that?” Ask Lando, completely confused.
“Unsurprising,” Pierre whispers under his breath, laughing. You laugh at with him, ignoring Lando's thunder.
“How many women have said, “Eh, fine”?” Questions Heidi sarcastically.
“Yeah, I got to make some calls.”
“Now I’m perplexed.” Says Max trying to make sense of everything he heard.
“I know. It’s confusing. I hate to admit it, but I feel sorry for men. This consent thing is tricky.” Kelly responded and gets up to pour herself more wine.
“No.” You exclaim annoyed by her comment. “Women always blame themselves, and then the man never has to take responsibility. During rape prevention week at the university, all the signs are aimed at women. “Girls, don’t dress provocatively. Girls, don’t walk alone.” How about, “Hey, guys, don’t rape.”" You look up at Pierre knowing perfectly it will trigger him.
“Oh, my god, why are we talking about that? I took a couple pictures as a joke, and Cece thought it was funny.” Pierre exclaims as he gets up from his chair to get himself another beer at the bar.
“Did she? Or did she feel like she had to laugh ‘cause she doesn’t know what else to do with your hand on her boob?” Everyone around the table falls silent and waits. You get up from your chair and walk you way to Pierre.
“Ok, sweetie, take it easy.” Adds Sebastian taking your arm and tries to calm the conversation.
“No. He thinks what he did is cute. You are basically a predator.” You accuse, pointing your finger at him.
“You’re basically a psycho.” Pierre replies, knowing full well it will trigger you.
“Good, call me crazy for defending a woman’s right not to be groped!”
“You’re mad ‘cause the internet told you to be. You don’t know my life or even leave this apartment!” Pierre screams as he approaches you.
“Because of guys like you!” You answer with the same intonation.
“What are you talking about?” Charles asks, taking your hand for you to sit down.
You and Charles are special. You’ve been like ass and shirt since childhood. You’ve known him since you were six. For as long as you can remember, Charles has always been one of your dearest childhood friends. You have shared so much together. No one has ever made you vibrate like he does. Usually his simple touch makes you calmer and reassuring. But you are no longer able to appreciate this contact that you cherish so much.
“You want to know?” You said, scoffing. “Okay. A couple of weeks ago, Heidi and I were coming home from the movies, and we were holding hands. And we noticed these guys staring at us, and then we changed the sidewalks , and they followed us.” You speak with tears in your eyes.
“What?” Sebastian says concerned in his voice. His turn your body to him.
“Yes. And they were going, “Come one, you guys, kiss. We really wanna see it. Just kiss.” They thought that was really funny, too.” You continue telling while drinking a sip of your glass.
“It was actually terrifying.” Ends up adding Heidi after Daniel stares at her intently.
“It was terrifying. And then we finally lost them in a crowd and ran home...” You finish in a huff trying to hold back your tears. Your hand hides your eyes and you try at best to find your calm.
Charles, in his divine goodness, hastens to extinguish you warmly. At first, his touch hurts you and you have only one desire to remove his hands from your dirty body. Yet you cling to him like a lifeline. Deep down, you know it's time. Time to tell what happened that night, a year ago. Nobody dares to speak at your revelation and everyone feels guilty for not knowing sooner.
“Umm... Last year after the Monaco Grand Prix. Lance Stroll raped me. He was my friend, and he raped me in my own bedroom. And then, he threatened me not to tell anyone... but. Why did he do this?” You ask breaking down in tears. “Sorry, I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what... I feel.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Sebastian asks tenderly, approaching you rubbing his hand on your back.
“I tried, but... nobody listened to me.” You respond looking at Lando through your tears. Your eyes pierce Lando’s being. He doesn’t know where to put himself and his cheeks become red. He implores you to keep your mouth shut, but the situation no longer belongs to you. You feel the body of Charles being redeemed against yours and you notice that he followed your gaze.
“You knew.” He accuses Lando turning his attention abruptly towards him.
“I... I.” He tries to defend himself. “I didn’t know what to do.”
“Oh, you think she knew what to do either.” He yells, getting up from his chair and grabbing him by the collar.
“Charles, let him go!” Orders Carlos.
“You let her suffer silently when you knew what he did to her. I thought you were better than this. T’es qu’une grosse merde.” You’re a piece of shit
“Oh please, like you would have done something? We all know he’s untouchable and has done it before.” Admitted Lando, pushing Charles away.
“What?” Sebastian speaks up. This is the first time he has heard this from his former teammate. He never thought he would ever see Lance in this light.
“Nothing.”
“It’s nothing? He raped her, and now other girls too?” Charles advances again, preventing him from fleeing the situation.
“Don't play fouls, Charles. You were in his hotel room at the party in Abu Dhabi last year, and I quite remember your hands on some teenage girls, groping them.” He said suddenly, pushing Charles out of his way again.
“What?” You speak up, troubled by Lando's affirmation.
“It’s not what it looks like.” Charles turns to you, trying to explain himself. You get up from your chair and walk back as you see him approach.
“Don’t touch me.” You say, pushing him away. “Did you do it?”
“I... It’s not the same thing.” He justified himself.
“Yes. It actually is. Did you grope those teenage girls or worse raped them?” You ask scandalized. Charles, your best friend, your confidant, the one you most trust is capable of the same thing as the person who hurt you the most.
“Oui,” he admits in a small voice. “I didn’t want to.”
“You didn’t want to? What the fuck, Charles. What's wrong with you all?” You yell, taking your stuff and leaving as fast as possible.
The thought of all this happening to so many more makes you sick. How could nobody speak up about this? You walk down the hotel hallway. You can hear footsteps and Charles's voice telling you to come back. When you get to the lobby, you ask for a taxi home. Tears fall down your cheeks, and you look at him as you push the door out.
You take your taxi and give him your address. All you want right now is a shower. A warm and reassuring shower. To pull away all those memories and thoughts. You want to scream to the world. You want to smash your entire apartment down. You want to stay in bed for the rest of your life. You want to jump off the roof. You want to cut yourself so that the pain stops. You want to be set free.
You arrive at the complex. Your dark thought runs in circles in your head. Like a robot, you open the door, press the elevator, and finally unlock your apartment. You let your essentials fall on the ground with your bag and coat. Like a machine, you take your shoes off and open the lights.
The sight of your home, which does not feel like home anymore. Since Lance pushes himself into you while you try to make him go away, this place hasn’t felt like home. You can’t even sleep in your own bed anymore. No matter how many times you clean the sheets, change the bed. This memory comes running back into your mind. Invade you like a parasite.
You go to the bathroom and open the valve to fill the bathtub. You watch the water. You can hear your phone blowing up with notifications and calls. “Why does this world have to be this cruel?” You think, taking your clothes off.
Your body envelops itself in the heat of the water, and you close your eyes. Your body slips in the bath. You head underwater. You hear focusing on your heart bit. You enjoy this moment of quietness and solitude.
That’s it. You feel alone since that night he took your joy, your life, yourself.
You can feel the water pressure you to gasp for air. Your head starts popping your blood. Your heart rises to find oxygen. You struggle. You have been struggling this long. You want to go, and you want to let go.
You let the water go in, and suddenly, all the scary parts disappear. The explosion in your head fades away, and you’re not scared anymore. You find it relatively peaceful. Very peaceful.
Strangely, you’re dreaming. Him with you. On a boat. Feeling the breeze in your hair. The warm sun on your skin. His light touches on your thigh. His breath on your neck. His lips are on your breast. You’re daydreaming. Are you? Is your mind trying to ease the pain in your heart? Is it even the day?
Then. You open your eyes. You try to scream, but your head is under the water. You feel weak but strong. Sick but healthy. Chaos but at peace. You can feel your body wiggling, but your mind is different. No one can hurt you now. Quietly, your eyelids become heavy again, and what a moment ago hurt you the most now makes you feel good.
The water fills your lungs, and you sink more and more into the darkness. Nobody seems to pull you up. The seconds pass, but you no longer find the courage to go out. The bathtub disappears, and you find yourself in the sea. In a warm and welcoming sea; The Mediterranean. An infinity of blue. An infinity of sweetness. The noises are only deaf sounds, and you feel your brain more and more calm. The sun’s rays pass through the water, and you move further and further away from it. Your eyelids become more and more stretched.
Then you see beautiful blue eyes through the water. No fair. You can’t reach them but can’t stop staring at those ocean-blue eyes. Suddenly, you feel scared. Scared to leave those ocean eyes. You’re afraid, and you’re drowning under the waves of words you haven’t said to them, to you.
You try to fight back this peaceful state, but darkness is an easier path than light. Suddenly the silence suffocates you, and you miss the sound surrounding you.
Then comes the darkness.
When you leave the apartment, Sebastian watches Charles running after you. He can’t believe what has happened. He doesn’t want to consider it. How could he? He sees and goes to the door, and Charles is defeated on the ground. He passes by without a look and walk his way to the lobby.
You have always been a fragile child. Even when you were a child. You were always this little fragile and precious porcelain doll. You’ve never been afraid of anything growing up. Sebastian always loved to see you grow up with him. Despite your age difference, he always considered you his little sister. The little one who needs to be protected from everything and at any cost. Knowing that you are suffering so much hurts him.
In the hallway, the walk seems long and endless, his thoughts wandering toward your shared memories. He remembers many summers spent in the countryside. At your grandparents' meadow, there was a vast field with a few horses grazing on the fresh grass. He remembers that beautiful-eyed little girl running in his direction.
You had dirt all over your clothes. Your hair was braided, and he still remembers the grass sticking in it. He remembers your laughter, which lit up the prairie thousands of miles away. Hearing you laugh has always been his favourite thing about you. Lost, it’s only when the doors block his way out that he remembers he has to go looking for you. He runs through the night towards your apartment.
Charles is devastated. Everything he tried to build with you has just broken in a moment. He feels lonely and ashamed. He wants you to know how much he loves you. How much you mean to him. How much you have become the center of his universe.
Before you, there was racing, and that was it. When you became something more his life change. It was as if you had lit the dormant fire in him. You have extinguished the flame since the death of his best companion, his father. You have given meaning to this quest. The stakes are not won but won for you.
He still remembers the first time he took you to his garage. You were with Sebastian. He was showing you around the Ferrari factory, showing you the different facilities, different parts. You were so captivated by his words, and your eyes were shining like stars in the sky.
He remembers the moment when your eyes landed on him. The smile you had, and the dress you wore and the clip in your hair. He counts you. Unable to say anything. Captivated by your beauty.
“Hi, Charlie.” You said in your beautiful voice.
He stuttered and blushed heavily. You laughed gently before putting your lips on each of his cheeks. He likes a kiss, and no, he likes your kisses.
A hand falls on his shoulder, and he sees Pierre. Tears in his eyes prevent him from distinguishing himself perfectly, but he recognizes his friend.
“Don’t worry. She’ll come back.” He says softly. Taking him by the shoulders to lift him up and bring him back to the room.
The others are still there. Confused and shaken, no one speaks. Silence reigns in the room, and no one knows what to say. Charles opens the patio door and leaves the fresh night air in the room. The city slowly began to calm down, and he heard the waves regularly hitting the harbour.
Daniel gets up and gets rid of the table. Putting this party away may make us forget the events that occurred. Heidi and Kelly help him while the others put orders in the room. No one dares to go to see Charles.
The hour passes quickly, and some decide to leave. They quickly greet the last remaining. Pierre observes his friend, who has not moved, and still looks at the sea.
It’s only when Charles' phone starts ringing that he looks away. He calmly enters the room and answers.
“Hello?”
You always liked the fields. You always loved hiding in the big wheat fields surrounding your grandparents' house when you were little. This stretch of yellow was as far as the eye could see. You liked feeling the stems between your fingers, the seeds melting to your touch, and the particular smell of wheat.
You remember a hot summer day. Lying on a tablecloth after a picnic, nature calms by this overwhelming heat, especially the calm of this yellow and green nature. You remember the farmer who held the farm. You spent days watching him working. Helping him through the mould. Watching him turn wheat powder into cereal. You remember this great man, always with a grain of wheat in his mouth that was constantly chewing.
You remember the hum that bees made at work. From wheat to wheat, pollen is harvested. You remember the nests in the hives that you created one summer. Your grandfather, with his jumpsuit, would go every morning and inspect the nests, and you loved watching him do it. You also loved to taste honey with each harvest. Honey is good. It’s sweet. It’s sweet. It’s wild.
You remember Sebastian. His blond hair, his smile, the sound of his kart engine. Many hours passed in his company at the track with his dad. You remember your big brother, following him and Sebastian all day long, like the annoying little sister you were. You remember falling from a tree after the boys thought it was a great idea to climb it. You see your brother jumping down the tree to get to you and hear Sebastian running back to the house to get help. You spent the night at the hospital. You broke your arms that summer, and you had a commotion. Your parents were furious and punished your brother for the rest of the vacation.
You remember your first winter in the mountains. Mornings skiing, and afternoons making snowmen, eating maple syrup, drinking hot chocolate, just playing in the snow. See your happy brother’s face after he managed to get the last pancake.
You remember Sebastian’s victories. To see him move up from category to category. You remember his encounter with Hanna. You love Hanna. She is so sweet and kind. You remember your great jealousy towards her from the height of your twelve years. She who steals your Sebastian. She who steals your second brother. Oh yes, you were jealous, but she knew how to win your heart, and after all, she stayed.
You remember the Ferrari years. Everyone was in red. You saw the world with red glasses. Red like love. Red like anger. Red as the colour. Red as blood. It’s kind of at this time, when adolescence really starts that you start to change. Physically, mentally, and spiritually, you were no longer the wise little girl your parents admired and your brother despised. No, you grew up making mistakes, a lot of mistakes, until you met him.
Him. The golden boy. The one destined to be great.
You remember his perfume, his smell, his laughter, his mimics, his way of speaking, his way of being and his way of simply being. He intimidated you so much; this guy was destined for something big. Whereas you, we never expected much from you besides being pretty, lovely, not disturbing, quiet, and reserved.
Quiet.
Reserved.
Pretty.
In those words, your brain falls into the dark side of your life. The darkened side of time. Painful and unhappy memories. The memories of him, the one who once was your best friend. He who once was your confidant. He who once saw fit to r*pe you.
To find you after the Grand Prix, in your apartment, in your house, in your home. To be a little too drunk, surely. To hold you firmly. To put his lips on yours. To hold your wrists. To put all his weight on your body. To force you into bed. To beg him to stop. To cry in silence. To feel it in you. To feel dirty. To feel unloved.
To feel alone, so lonely, too lonely.
To find yourself curled up in a ball in a corner. To wait until morning for him to leave. To want to end your life. To end your nights. To seek help. To be abandoned. To be alone. To be dirty. To be silent. To be reserved. To be pretty.
To be pretty.
To be pretty.
To be.
Silent is all you ask for.
It’s been a long night. The hours have been staggering. The noises of monitors, nurses, doctors, and ambulances invade their ears. No one speaks, and no one dares speak. It is as if a white veil covers the weighing atmosphere and borrows all those present.
The wait is long, too long. They wait patiently for the outcome of this atrocious night, something that does not happen. Sebastian holds his head in his hands, tears have finished flowing, but his eyes are still red. He feels bad. He feels immense guilt. This mixture of shame, sadness, contempt and anger is eating him increasingly as the hours pass and pass before his eyes. He blames himself for not coming sooner. He blames himself for not holding you back. He blames himself for not seeing. He blames himself.
Full of life and ardour, this little girl was smothered under this icy water. Frozen in time. Only the repetitive sound of drops escaping from the pipe disrupted this freezing scene. She hides all her problems behind her smile. Never in his life has he thought of having this vision of you. This pure horror vision of an act yet so courageous. Because it takes courage to think about yourself before thinking about others. It takes courage to put yourself forward and not others. It takes courage to achieve what others have likely failed to achieve.
The roar of the machines stifled Charles. He closed his ears in the hope of silencing them. To see you with your tubes hanging around you, in you. On this hospital bed, this white bed, this room that feels the end. Eyes wet, Charles looks at your pale, serene face. The doctor’s words are dry and not encouraging. Your parents arrive a few hours later, a flight later. They cry. Your brother has tears in his eyes. Sebastian collapses in a corner. Hanna is there; a veil of sadness covers his eyes. Heidi cries in the arms of Daniel, who looks again in the eyes of Charles. Charles holds your hand, your hand. Your hands are cold, frozen by the consequences. Lando doesn’t dare to come in. He feels guilty because he refused to believe you, to reach out to you, see you, and see your distress. He preferred to become blind rather than awake. It haunts him.
Charles, sitting next to you, is watching people walk by. To say goodbye to you, goodbye, forever. He doesn’t want to. He can’t. You’re still breathing. Your heart is still beating. So why do you have to leave? Why did you choose to go?
“Why?” He mumbles one more time, his head against your ear. “Why are you not fighting?”
“Cha... we have to go.”
“No... I-I-I can’t. I can’t leave her.” His voice breaks in a sob.
“Charles,” Pierre says, putting a comforting arm on his shoulder. “Let her go.”
“No...” Charles pushes him away, gripping your hand tighter. “She’s going to survive. She’s going to live. She has to live. You have to live.” He prays, kissing your cold skin.
Pierre sight and get out of the room. His family, her family, his friends, and her friends are here waiting for him. The visiting hours are almost over. Everyone wants to go back to their house and sleep a bit. They haven’t slept all night. Charles hasn’t slept all night. Pascale enters the room quietly. Staring at his son.
“Charles. We need to let her rest. Will come back in the morning, d’accord mon bébé?” She says, taking him in her arm.
He acquires at her request despite himself. Unable to fight anymore, fatigue slowly eats him away, and he knows that he is of no help if he is exhausted. He leaves the room not without a last kiss, a last look, a last goodbye.
On the following day, Charles came. Staying for hours next to you. Stroking your hair, mumbling your name, praying for you to wake up. He can't take you out of his brain. He can't take you out of him. You're haunting him. We realize how important it is in our life when we lose someone we take for granted. Charles looks at you as a friend until he realizes he loves you. Is it too late? Were you supposed to be?
Sebastian came a few times, only a few minutes. He can't unseen what he saw. He plays and plays the night in his head over and over again. Wondering what he could have done differently.
The doctors are not really optimistic about your recovery. Your body is tired. Your mind is exhausted. They did all they could do. All we have to do is wait. Wait for you to come back. Wait for you to fight for your life. How could you fight if you're not even awake? It's painful.
Strangely enough, he came. The rapist. The abomination of your life. You came late at night when everyone left. He felt bad. "It's too late to feel bad," you think when you feel his hand and you. You wanted to cry, to scream, but nothing. He left shortly after. Looking at you one last time. Looking at what he did to you. You hear from Lando a few days later that he got arrested. Other girls spoke, and there were enough accusations to start a trial. Even more strange, it did nothing to you. Well, how could you feel? When he toked everything you got and smashed it in a million pieces?
Sometimes, you can feel the warmth of the afterlife tingling your skin. You feel it right near you, calling you. Calling you to answer the call. You want to feel this feeling of peace, this quietness. You don't know how to feel. You just want to float. You forgot how to be happy. How to be. Why fight if you may never find yourself again? What were you made for? You wonder to yourself.
Time flies. A couple of weeks passed. You made some improvements for the doctors to feel optimistic for you to wake up eventually. You're stabilized by all those machines. Your parent finally arrived a few days after you were admitted. You can feel your mother's tears on your cold hands and the soft kisses of your father on your forehead. You can smell the sunflower Heidi brought you every time she comes to see you. Sometimes you want to react. To show her you listen. But you can't. Or you don't want?
The feeling of loneliness passed. You can see now how much you're loved. How they love you. You love to hear Arthur talking about your favourite series. You love to hear Sebastian remembering childhood moments whenever he found the courage to come. You love to listen to your mom singing your favourite songs. You love to hear Daniel telling dad jokes, hoping you'll smile in your sleep. You love hearing Lando talking about his latest Quadrant adventures or Twitch lives. You love to listen to Charles saying how much he loves you. How much his life is plain without you. You can't imagine somebody else cared so much about you.
That makes you cry. You can't show them you can hear. You can't show them you love them too. You can't show them how grateful you are or will be. More time passed, and the more you could slowly feel you were losing yourself. All you need to do is happen your eyes, but for some reason, it seems an impossible task to do.
"This is impossible," Alices says in disbelief at the creature rising upon her.
"Only if you believe it is." The hatter whispers, scared of the outcome of all this adventure. But wasn't this all the point of this madness?
"Sometimes, I believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
"That is an excellent practice." The hatters says. "However, just now, you might want to focus on the Jabberwocky."
"Six impossible things. Count them, Alice. One, there's a potion that can make you shrink. Two, and a cake that can make you grow. Three, animals can talk. Four, Alice, cats can disappear. Five, there's a place called Wonderland. Six, I can slay the Jabberwocky."
You feel yourself falling into the rabbit hole, and you have been in Wonderland all this time. That's it! You can do it. Six impossible things before breakfast.
"One, you will get a major in architecture."
"Two, you can drive an F1 car."
"Three, you can be happy again."
"Four, Y/n, there's a place for you in this universe."
"Six, I will fight for my life."
At this, though, he feels darkness rising upon you. Everything fades away slowly. You can hear the constant beep of the machines around you. You can feel Charles's hands against yours. You can smell the hospital room you're in. You can see the light shutters again you close your eyes.
Then... you breathe.
Feeling the grass on your feet. The autumn breeze cools down your spine. For the first time, you appreciate being alive. To fill your lungs with air, to hear the water crash against the rocks, to feel the sun warm up your skin, and to taste food again.
You feel a hand around your waist, and Charles brings you closer to him. He sticks you to his bare chest. He holds you firmly for fear that you will disappear again. It makes you smile to see him so loving, so gentle, and so attentive. You turn your gaze from the blue horizon to meet his emerald eyes. He smiles tenderly. His eyes sparkle with a thousand lights when you return his smile. You hold these eyes a few moments before you look wandering towards his lips.
If only it could be true.
If only you could be with him.

:: h&l boys being with their drunk s/o for the first time ::
pairings: fujio hanaoka, tsukasa takajo, yosuke todoroki, yuken odajima, yasushi nishikawa x fem reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FUJIO ✧.*
it warmed his heart seeing you made a fond friendship with all his friends. you were new yet so significantly important to his life so of course he wanted you to get along with all his people and now you dis it so naturally. everyone liked you to the point you were get comfortable so quickly while chatting and drinking alcohol with them. fujio didn't know you can drink so tonight he was quieter than usual to watch you got tipsy while actively interacting with his childhood friends because it's too fascinating to him.
“fujio…” you turned to him with your flushed red cheeks.
“yes?” he responded.
you didn't answered right away. you were focus on his face then a hand landed smoothly on the back of his neck. “i'm happy with you.”
he beamed. he didn't know how to respond to that so he just look at you with a surprise look while his heart was ready to blown up.
“i want to stay here all night but why's my head so dizzy?” you placed your head on your palm to stay still. your other hand playing with his ear absentmindedly.
he finally replied with a chuckle. “you can't stay here all night. let's go home, it's already late.”
“but you haven't drink a bit?” you protested, handing a glass of beer to your boyfriend.
he squeezed your cheek excitedly. “i'm good.” he said giggly. you felt your head keep spinning then your forehead fall perfectly on his shoulder, inviting a laughter from madoka. “GIRL, YOU LOSE!!! FUJIO YOUR GIRLFRIEND JUST LOST!!!” she said extremely drunk.
fujio sighed to the rest of the guys. “i'm going.” he said before placing you on his back, ready to take you home.
TSUKASA ✧.*
“you drink too much.” he warned you. you glanced at him with disapproval and a pout on your lips.
“i'm fine.” you replied while lying on your stomach, eyes back on the papers in front of you.
“but you have a pre-test tomorrow,”
you laughed, “this is my pre-test y'know.” then continue to take a sip of your drink to accompany you studying tonight.
he copied your position. “you could just ask me then drink these cans.” tsukasa ran his fingers through your hair softly.
you flipped your body to lay on your back then you covered your face with both of your hands. he could still hear you sobbing beside him. “why can't i go through this test peacefully? why can't my head absorb things easily like most of people do? why i feel like i know nothing about these things? why…” you started to ramble then looked at him with so much anger on your face.
he knew you so frustrated lately, that's why he decided to come to your house then he found you barely sober on the floor with papers and beer cans everywhere. it was the first time he saw you cried and drunk. too surprising to him to process.
he helped you sit then he started to rub your back in up-down motion. “cry. let it out.” he said. in a split second he could feel his body being pulled in and you cried drunkly on his neck, hugging him tightly.
“thank you,” you said. he nodded while patting your hair and back. “anything for you. just ask me if you need anything.”
silence.
he felt your breating evenly which meant you were asleep. “hey?” he called.
“you're body is so sweet-scented, it's comfy.” oh, you may regret this tomorrow because it was completely not you at all.
tsukasa chuckled. “okay, then.”
TODOROKI ✧.*
he was hanging out with you and his oya friend. when he received a call from his parent that he needed to handle a few things for a bit. “you can go. i'm fine here, really. they are my friends too.” you tried your best to convince him that you were okay with fujio, nakagoshi, yasushi, kiyoshi, tsuji, and shibaman while he was away.
“yeah, she's right. you don't need to worry about nothing.” yasushi spoke making todoroki's gaze switch to him.
“it won't take more than an hour i promise. don't get too drunk.” he said before you nodded and he left. so there were only you and the idiots, and you agreed to play beer pong with them. you were pretty sure it wouldn't be too difficult since you could drink quite well. in the middle of the game, they started to realize that your shooting was good, you rarely threw the ball away. then the opposite team started to rearrange their strategy to caught up your team's score. you've got tipsy but the games had an endless round until kiyoshi passed out beside you.
you snorted, “poor you, kiyo-kiyooo!” then laughed maniacally. you sat on the sofa when tsuji lit his cigarette. you felt your head too dizzy to worked but the view of a drunk guy smoking beside you intrigued you so much that you decided to try the nicotine too. so you pulled out a cigarette unconsciously and lit it up while sucking on it carefully.
“i shouldn't leave you with these jerks.” the love of your life showed up and snatched the nicotine between your lips.
“baby!” you exclaimed cheerfully and put your arms around his neck. completely distracted.
“why don't you listen to me?” he hissed.
you frowned. “me? not listening? never! i've never not listening to you in my life.” you put your head on his shoulder, clingy. “i'm just… sleepy.” then you pecked his neck.
he rolled his eyes and tightened his hand on your waist. “we're going home.” he said, slightly mad but couldn't ignore the way your warm breath fanned his side neck.
YUKEN ✧.*
“can i talk to my boyfriend?” the right side of your face lying on the table. you eyed your boyfriend, who was sitting next to you.
“you can. what do you want to talk about?” yuken dropped the glass he'd been holding onto the table then put his palm under your cheek so it wouldn't get sore. he was smiling slightly looking at adorable view of you like this.
“honestly, i didn't want to go on the triple date either.” you started. “i love to be like this. just with you.”
yuken laughed at your cute confession. you both were at a small shop near the restaurant you previously visited for a triple date your boyfriend initially refused to come to. but you said it just for once and you spent days to persuading him to come, so he agreed.
“i was in denial of it but today the proof was in front of my eyes. i can't deny that i only get comfortable with you now.”
he smirked as he feel an ego boost. he thought he made a genius decision to drink with you. your relationship was love-hate so that was the first time you were so honest about your feeling.
“sorry to forced you to come to that date.”
he caressed your hair. “it's fine. i can finally know about you more because of that damn date.” he grinned. “i'll plan us a proper date for next week.”
you giggled. “oh, really? will you?” you asked doubtedly.
“it will be the best date ever and you need to give me a reward if i succeed.”
you held his hand with both of yours. “deal.” and you didn't let go of his hand afterward.
he noticed that you were more touchy when you were drunk and it was kinda alarming because he wouldn't let you drink without him.
you stared straight at his lips when he was going to speak. “okay, then. we'll see.” he tried to let go of his hand from you slowly to down his tequila but your movement restrained him.
you quickly lift your head and approached his, placing a gentle kiss on his mouth for a few seconds.
“your lips are flirting with me.” you blurted out.
yuken remained frozen for a while then he stood up and carried your body like a sack on his shoulder. he smirked, “that's not fair you drunkenly doing that in public. let's go home.”
YASUSHI ✧.*
it was almost midnight when he received a call from an unknown number. he wanted to ignore it but he remember you were out drinking with your friends, so he picked up quickly. a deafening noise entered his ear.
“hello, is it—”
“where is my girlfriend?” he cut. fast. his body was ready to sprint to wherever you were.
“s-she is drunk—can you pick her up? i'll send the location.”
he hung up then grabbed his jacket and shoes to head to your location—luckily it wasn't that far.
he almost got there when he saw a girl sitting on the ground—face down and nearly passed out… or maybe sleeping? it was you.
“babe? why are you—you okay? babe? how can—” too many question filled his brain. you opened your glazed eyes after hearing a familiar voice.
“hi,” you greeted happily. you placed hands on his arms to support your body to pecked his cheek. a wide smile appeared after the sudden action.
“babe—”
“i had a good night,” you grinned. “you're so pretty by the way.” his cheek and ear turned red at the same time. it wasn't a good timing but who could ignore compliment from the prettiest girl on earth?
“thanks but how can you end up here? where are your friends? you said you're going with the girls, right?”
your eyes closed but the smile didn't seem to fade anytime soon. “they're going home… maybe?”
“what do you mean maybe?” you place a forefinger on his lips. “shut up. my head's noisy.”
he groaned to himself. “i swear i'll beat them tomorrow.” you frowned. “they are my friends—girls—you can't.”
“okay then i'll punch their boyfriend?”
you laughed. “stop, you feral kid.”
he sighed heavily. “let's go home you need to wash yourself.” he swore he won't let you out drinking again without him.

the barber predicament— s. harrington
pairings: steve harrington x fem!reader
word count: 3.6k
synopsis: when steve complains that he can’t find a new barber after his old one retired, eddie recommends you; an old friend of his that’s a stylist. and you seem to know the way right to steve’s heart-through his hair. based on this request.
warnings: reader and eddie are besties, brief mention of eddie and max’s shitty childhoods, probably incorrect depictions on what it’s like to be a hair stylist, FLUFF to the max and terrible writing
a/n: I really really don’t like how this came out but I loved to request so much that I forced myself to finish it. everything I know I about being a hair stylist is from getting my hair done so much and from tiktok, so I tried to keep the details I wasn’t sure of vague. I apologize if anything is wrong, please let me know if it is. also I completely guessed on how much hairciuts were in the 80's so sorry if thats wrong too. otherwise, like always, i’d love any feedback you guys give me

“Steve, I sympathize with you, I really do, but if I have to listen to you complain that you can’t find a barber for another second, I will tell Keith that you’ve been letting pretty girls get away with their late return fees.”
Steve’s jaw fell open, staring dumbfounded at Robin. “W-well, excuse me,” He stuttered, offended. “For wanting to confide in my best friend about my troubles. Truly, Robin, I don’t know why I assumed you’d be supportive.”
The blonde rolled her eyes, shaking her head lightly at her friends dramatics. “I was supportive up until the fourth time you talked about it. What’s the big deal, anyways?” She asked. “There’s like 3 different barbers in town. Go to one of them.”
Steve stared at her incredulously, as if she’d just told him to shave his head. “Are you being serious? Do you know me at all?”
Robin sighed, pulling the bin of returned movies out from under the counter. “Yes, Steve, in fact I do. I know that your hair is weirdly important to you. But what do you expect me to do about the fact that you won’t trust any of the barbers in town?” She asked, organizing the movies by genre on the rolling cart next to her.
“You looking for a barber, Harrington?” The additional voice caused the two Family Video employees to jump, looking over to see Eddie leaning on the counter casually.
Recovering from the startle, Steve nodded skeptically. “Yeah, I am. Why, you have someone you know?”
Eddie nodded with a grin. “Indeed I do. This girl that graduated the first time I was supposed to. She was in Hellfire. Went to school for hair and everything. Even does mine on occasion for a discount.”
Steve’s eyes shot up to his hairline, head nodding slowly. “Right.” He said, drawing out the vowel. “Well, listen, Munson. I mean no offense when I say this, but I don’t know if I trust someone with my hair that leaves you looking like that.” He explained, gesturing to the other boys head.
Eddie looked at him blankly. “Offense taken.” He deadpanned. “You think I want my hair like this simply for convenience?”
Both Steve and Robin stayed silent, giving Eddie knowing looks instead. He sighed in defeat. “Okay, fine, that’s partially why. But, I also have to give credit to my ultimate role model, Kirk Hammett.” He grinned.
He received blank looks from his friends and the metal head threw his arms up in exasperation. “Really? Kirk Hammett? Lead guitarist of Metallica? Nothing? Why am I friends with you guys?”
Before either of them could respond with a witty remark, Max came skipping up to the counter with two movies in her hands, throwing them down onto the counter. “I’m ready.”
“2 movies?” Eddie glared at the redhead. “Really, Maxine?”
Eddie and Max had a very odd brother sister relationship that was built almost entirely on a consistent basis of bickering and shoving each other around. Still, they looked out for one another, and Eddie felt responsible for making sure the little bit of Max’s childhood that was left was positive. Which he did so in different ways, including bringing her to rent movies for their movie nights.
“Yes, 2. Because you still owe me for the last movie night you forgot about.” She spit back. Eddie gritted his teeth, sliding over the correct amount of money to Steve for the movies.
“As I was saying,” He sent the redhead one last glare. “Even though my hair is convenient for my lifestyle, I ask for it to look a certain way to resemble someone I look up to. She’s the only one who’s ever gotten it to how I want.” Eddie told Steve, snatching a pad of sticky notes and a pen from behind the register.
He scribbled down a series of numbers before sliding it back. “That’s the number for the salon she works at. Give her a call. If you want.”
-
You were on your lunch break when the call came in. On a Wednesday, there was no need to have many stylists in the salon at once. Most appointments and walk ins would happen in the afternoon and as a younger stylist you were more often than not told to come in during the day for walk ins. The other women in the salon were older, more experienced stylists that didn’t need the extra cash you normally got for the services.
The food on your fork was midway to your mouth when the phone rang and you let it fall back onto your plate with a sigh.
“Thanks for calling Hawkins #1 hair salon, how can I help you?” The slogan spewed from your lips like a broken record.
“Uh..hi.” You straightened at the deep voice that came from the phone. Of course, you had men in the salon, usually though just to wait for their wives or kids to get their hair cut. There was the occasional male client, but most went to the local barbers and wouldn’t be caught dead getting their hair done in your salon. As if getting a haircut from a woman made them more feminine.
“Hello!” You chirped. “How can I help you today?”
The man on the other line hesitated for a second. “I’d like to book a haircut? With, um…Y/N.”
You perked up at the sound of your own name, a bashful smile appearing on your lips. Someone had recommended you?
“That would be me.” You chuckled. “Can I ask who referred you?”
The nameless man gave you a polite laugh, the deep timbre of the sound sending a warmth to your cheeks. “Uh, yeah. Eddie? Eddie Munson? He said you guys were friends in high school. Said you were good at what you do.”
The kind words certainly did nothing to quell the heat in your skin, but you still beamed at the mention of your friend. “Yeah, Eddie, of course. I’ll have to give him a discount the next time he comes in.” You joked. In all seriousness, you already didn’t charge Eddie the normal amount that you did for haircuts, fully aware of his financial situation. “But, yeah, I can put you in for a haircut. What day were you hoping to come in?”
“Is tomorrow okay? It’s my only day off.”
You opened up the binder that kept track of all appointments, making sure there were openings for the next day. “Yeah, it says here I have an opening at 10am and another at 1. Either of those sound good?”
The line went silent for a second too long, and you have a feeling the man nodded before remembering he was on the phone. “1pm would be great, thanks.”
You grabbed a pen and crossed out the 1pm slot. “Awesome. What’s the name I can put down for you?”
“Steve. Steve Harrington.”
-
Steve was irrationally nervous for his haircut. Never mind the fact that he was risking, in his opinion, his best feature, but the thought of meeting you was annoyingly nerve wracking. The way your voice sounded over the phone was borderline angelic, and he could only imagine what kind of beauty you radiated in real life. Not to mention, you and him briefly walked the halls of Hawkins High at the same time, and he wondered if you were aware of his reputation back then. He couldn’t recall your presence, but then again, he had his head so far up his own ass that he didn’t recognize most people from high school.
He was so antsy that morning that he was ready to go by 11, leaving him to pace and try to find little things to keep himself busy. The second it hit 12:50, Steve was sprinting out the door, making it to the salon in a record 5 minutes.
The bell above the door rang as soon as he stepped in, alerting the few stylists and customers that were there of his presence. One of the stylists, an older, heavier set woman took a glance at him as she blow dried her client.
“Y/N!” She called towards the back of the salon. “Your 1 o’clock is here!”
A second later, a woman stepped out, who he could only assume was you. You emerged from a beaded curtain, a sight to behold. Steve felt his breath hitch and he tried to wipe the sweat from his hands on his jeans.
You weren’t doing much better. Of course you knew who Steve Harrington was. He’d been a year younger than you, but he’d quickly climbed the social ladder in school. Every party was a big deal when it was held at Steve’s house and if you were friends with him, you were automatically cool.
You hadn’t cared much about the social aspect of school, focusing only on passing your classes and playing DnD. It’s where you met Eddie, who had easily become your best friend. It had been upsetting when you found out he wouldn’t be walking the stage with you, but you’d been supportive of him ever since.
And like every girl, you’d had a crush on Steve Harrington. How could you not? He was a total dreamboat and you’d be crazy not to find him attractive. You’d always been able to push that desire to the back burner, considering your best friend was continuously labeled as The Freak and you certainly didn’t gain any popularity by being associated with him.
When Eddie told you that he’d befriended the former King of Hawkins High, you truly believed he was fucking with you. But he claimed that the man had changed; matured. He told you that Steve’s best friends were a senior girl who Eddie knew band from marching band and a freshman that was in Hellfire. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t curious about this new man Steve Harrington had apparently become.
Oh, and that crush you had? Definitely still there. That much was evident by the dryness of your mouth that occurred the moment you laid eyes on Steve.
He was even more handsome than you remembered. Long legs clad in light blue Levi’s, polo shirt fitted nicely to his toned chest and big brown eyes looking back at you with an expression you couldn’t read.
Steve wished he remembered you. He couldn’t help but wonder if things had been different, would he have noticed you? He wanted to kick himself for not having. You were probably the prettiest girl he’d ever seen, and he realized now that describing you as angelic didn’t do you justice. You were ethereal–otherworldly.
He could see why you and Eddie were friends. Your outfit was mainly made up of black articles with a few splashes of color here and there. Your makeup was dark, creating a contract between the black eyeliner and the color of your iris’s. You were stunning, to say the least.
“Hi!” You exclaimed breathlessly. The sound of your voice broke Steve from his jumble of thoughts, only making his brain fizzle further. Your voice was even sweeter in person. “Steve, right?” You asked, though you knew the answer.
Steve cleared his throat, nodding. “Yeah, that’s me. You’re Y/N?”
You grinned so brightly it nearly made Steve’s heart stop in his chest. “That would be me. You can come sit at my station.” You said, patting the chair you’d stopped at.
He obeyed silently, taking a seat in the chair. You had to crank the lever a few times, lowering the height of the chair to accommodate for his large stature. You tried not to focus on the intoxicating smell of his cologne and he tried not to focus on your hands taking through his hair.
“So, what were we thinking of doing to your hair?” You asked, leaning your arms on the back of the chair.
Steve made eye contact with you through the mirror and hoped you couldn’t tell how red his cheeks were, because he definitely could. “Um, I was hoping to keep most of the length. Shorter on the sides, longer in the front?” He was really just spitting out words, hoping they made sense. Honestly, he was finding it difficult to focus on your question when he felt your fingertips on his scalp.
“So..we’re thinking Swayze but longer?” Steve’s jaw fell slack, staring at you in awe as you put his thoughts into words with incredible ease. You really did know what you were doing.
“Yeah, exactly.” He responded quietly, a little stunned.
You sent him that brilliant smile once again. “Cool.” You stared thoughtfully at his reflection, head tilted to the side. “Can I-could I suggest something? And you can totally say no, but I personally think it would look really good.”
Steve thought that you could ask him to commit arson and he’d say yes. “‘Course. What is it?”
You pulled a couple of strands around his face, trying to visualize your idea. “How would you feel about getting a little bit of highlights?”
His eyebrow cocked in questioning. “Highlights? Don’t only chicks get those?”
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes a bit, and Steve’s stomach immediately dropped. He fucked up, he offended you, he–
“No, silly. There’s actually a lot of actors recently that have been getting them. It wouldn’t be any drastic, just a few streaks that would be a shade or two lighter than your natural color. I think it would compliment your skin tone, bring out your eyes.”
The boy found himself nodding before he really considered what you were telling him. “Yeah,” He blurted, realizing he had yet to give you a verbal response. “If you think so. I trust you.”
“Great.” You laughed. “I’ll get you mixed up.”
Steve didn’t know what that meant, but he did know that his haircut had now upgraded to a lengthier process, and he was just happy to have a reason to be around you longer.
As promised, you came back out a couple minutes later, using a brush that looked like a big fork and mixing up a gooey mixture in a bowl. You were quick to start slathering the light purple substance in his hair, carefully applying it to chunks that you had placed over a piece of foil. Each section was enclosed and folded into a little square.
“So what brings you to me? I know you said Eddie referred you, but guys aren’t usually very willing to go to a stylist rather than a barber.” You said.
Steve shrugged a little. “I had a barber before, but he retired and moved out of Hawkins. He’s the only one that’s ever gotten my hair exactly how I want it.” He blushed, reluctant to reveal the reason he’d agreed to be there. “My hair is kinda important to me, I didn’t wanna go to just any barber and risk them fucking it up. Eddie said you were great and I really just needed a haircut.” He explained.
You nodded understandingly, finishing up the last couple sections of his highlights. “I get that. Hair has always been really important to me too. Obviously.” You gestured around you. Steve laughed and you felt the sound bring a warmth to your chest. “It’s always been the easiest way besides my clothes to express myself. And it’s nice to have control over something as an adult when so much is out of your control.”
Your eyes met in the mirror once again, his big doe eyes staring deep into your soul with an understanding that only came from shared experiences. You didn’t know much about Steve’s home life, only what you’d heard during school. His parents were loaded but were often never home. As a teenager, that’s the best thing that could happen to you, but as an adult, you saw how that could get pretty lonely.
The time passed by far too quickly for either of your tastes. You and Steve hadn’t even noticed the time flying so quickly as you talked about anything and everything. It was crazy to think that this man, this sweet, charismatic, beautiful man, used to be a douchebag in high school.
Steve was in heaven as you washed his hair, not even bothering to hide his bliss as your fingers massaged the hair products into his scalp. He could die happy right now, he was sure of it. You held back a giggle as his eyes closed and a convent hum came from his throat. Not wanting to embarrass him, you refrained from commenting and continued your routine.
After a few cycles of shampooing and rinsing and conditioning and rinsing until Steve’s hair was clean and silky smooth, you shut the water off and gathered his hair in a little towel.
“Okay, all done. I’m just gonna blow dry your hair, style it a bit and you’ll be all set.” Steve couldn’t help the frown that appeared, not wanting your time together to end.
It seemed like you read his mind, commenting as you dragged a hairbrush through his brunette locks. “If you’re happy with how your hair came out, you can always come back for trims, o-or touch ups on your highlights.” You stuttered, smiling sheepishly and silently praying that he couldn’t tell how desperate you were to see him again.
“Yeah?” He asked. You nodded, biting your lip shyly as you refocused on his hair. You sat in a forced but comfortable silence as you blowdried his hair. Once it was all nice and fluffy, he watched as you poured a series of liquids into your palm, raking them through his hair. You messed with the strands for another few minutes, doing stuff he didn’t understand but somehow styling his hair exactly how he likes it.
He had to admit, you were definitely right about the highlights. They brought a brightness to his complexion that hadn’t been there before. He felt like he looked younger somehow, which was surprising, considering the kids he always hung around with made him feel like he was pushing 80 sometimes. He told you as such, reveling in the sweet sound of your laughter.
“Well, that’s my job. Just glad you trusted little ol’ me with your most prized possession.” The words came out teasingly. Steve grinned back at you through the mirror, shrugging slightly.
“Guess I owe Munson, huh?”
You agreed, guiding him back to the front to check him out. You typed something into the register at the counter. “Your total is gonna be $10.”
Steve’s eyebrows almost touched his forehead. “That’s it? For the haircut and the highlights?”
“Yeah, it’s with a discount. You are Eddie’s friend after all.” You were almost charging him just for the haircut, and Steve was not having it.
He frantically shook his head in protest. “No, no, Y/N. You don’t have to do that. I can pay you the full price, trust me.”
“Steve,” You chuckled, “It’s okay. I don’t give out many friends and family discounts, it’s not like I’m losing all that much money.”
He cocked an eyebrow at you challengingly. “Oh yeah? How much is the full price for highlights.”
You poked the inside of your cheek with your tongue, reluctantly mumbling out the price, which was much larger than what you were asking. “Absolutely not. Charge me the right amount.” Steve was not about to leave and let you basically have a free service. Not when you worked so hard.
“I’ll just tip you the rest if you don’t.” He smirked, eyes peering at you fondly when you sighed in exasperation.
“It’s seriously fine. I offered the extra service, you don’t have to pay for it.”
A lightbulb lit up in Steve’s head, eyes shining at the obvious opportunity. He’d be an idiot not to take it.
“Fine.” He sighed dramatically. “At least let me do something to pay you back for it. A service for a service, huh? What do you say?”
The corners of your mouth tilted up, betraying your efforts to keep a serious face. Steve was clearly not backing down. “Okay. What’d you have in mind?”
A pink rose to Steve’s freckled cheeks. “Let me take you on a date?”
Your breath hitched. You certainly felt the tension between the two of you ever since he walked in, but you really weren’t expecting anything to come from it.
Steve took your silence as a negative reaction. “Or-I could do anything else. Doesn’t have to be a date, really. I could buy you lunch one day or-“
“I’d love to.” His big brown eyes snapped up to meet your in surprise.
“Really?”
You nodded gleefully, unable to keep your grin from growing. You could feel your cheeks beginning to ache with how much you were smiling.
“Okay.” He whispered, ducking his head bashfully. Steve quickly pulled his wallet out, handing you the 10 dollar bill.
It took less than a minute for you to input his money in, ripping the receipt that printed it. Before you could hand it to him, you grabbed a pen and scribbled something on it.
“My house number. Give me a call?” You asked in a hopeful tone.
“Definitely.” Steve grinned and you repressed the urge to swoon. He sent you a cute little wave, leaving you in the salon smiling like an fool. As soon as he was out the door, your fellow stylists squealed, crowding around you and demanding details.
Steve faintly heard the high pitched noise, smirking to himself. Sliding into the drivers seat of his BMW, he sighed happily. “Yeah, I definitely owe Munson.”

Tumblr media
Spring break
A time away from the hour long lectures and dick professors
You decided to go and spend some time with your family during your time off instead of partying with friends or spending your time sleeping.
As you arrived in the city of Chicago in the morning, you drive to your childhood home via taxi and as you get there you see your family, old friends and everyone else you grew up with.
Tumblr media
three days before you had to leave one of the worse things that could happen
happened
you got sick, sore throat
you could tell it was getting worse by the second
you ask your mom for some sore throat medicine, none.
so you take it upon yourself to go get some Licolas from your local CVS.
as you get their you find them but as your walking around a few isle you see someone.
she was checking out a bottle of whipped cream, as you got closer, you realize just how fine she is.
Damn
you couldn't help but notice her soft chiseled jawline, plump lips and long faux locs that were loosely wrapped up in a bun letting a few strands fall down. She sported baggy sweatpants and hoodie that hide her figure but even then you could tell she was short and petite. you wondered if she could handle you.
a tall stallion with a fat ass and big titties that sat perfectly and a pretty face to match.
all your thoughts about her went straight to your brain all the way down to your cunt that was growing wetter by the second to the thought of her.
you would have just walked up to her if it wasn't for your shorts and oversized tee, your undone face that still looked pretty without and your hair that was undone and fizzy, a complete mess.
but you really didn't care, so
you walk around trying to get her attention. you make an effort to bend down slowly showing off your ass as you look down at whatever items that sat lowly on shelfs, but whatever you tried it didn't work she was to caught up in her phone so you give up and just as your about to walk to cash register, you stop
what were you doing?
you knew that if you wanted something you always got it. a little minor setback wasn't gonna stop you and if anything you hadn't even begin to really try yet.
"hi I'm y/n"
she looks up from her phone,
finally
"oh hi I'm Riri, can I help you?"
"um yea I was you over there and I just couldn't help but notice you, I thought I might just try and talk to you"
you talk with your low sweet voice with bedroom eyes as you make an effort to glance at her lips every once in a while. even making eye contact of course.
as you look at her you see a flip switch in her head, as if she knew exactly what was going on in your head.
you two talk for a minute.
mainly just regular small talk, you guys tell each other why you were in Chicago and a little about your families.
"so your on spring break right?"
"yea just came out to see my family its been a but hard having to leave them, ya' know"
"yeah I get it, I almost cried when my parents left me at campus"
you both share a laugh until your eyes set on the can of whipped cream still in her hand.
"soo what'd you come here for? I'm guessing for that whipped cream"
"oh nah i- I was just looking"
you raise your eyebrow up before speaking.
"okk is that all?" you ask curiously
"well I mean yea I just saw you and got to thinkin"
you pause
so does she as she realized what she said
"whats that supposed to mean?"
"no! i- I didn't mean it in that way. it just kind of happened"
"well what were you thinking about?"
"nothing don't worry, I just saw you over there. couldn't help but realize how fine you were."
"well thank you but you've spiked my interest. what were you thinkin bout"
Riri didn't say anything but a jumble of words, stuttering and spaced out.
you laugh, it's clear she was nervous and you were getting a real kick out of it.
"I'm just messing with you, you don't have to tell me. if anything I get it"
"really?"
"yea I mean I'd be lying if I said I wasn't doing the same thing"
"oh"
it seemed as if Riri was relieved, as if knowing you had the same impure thoughts gave her solidarity that she wasn't a total creep.
"so you don't mind?"
"nope" Riri let's outa deep breath before you speak again
"well..."
she looks up at you with a raised eyebrow
"I'd only mind if you weren't to do anything, I'd be a shame to let those thoughts go to waste plus I'm interested in what your thinking"
"oh... I"
Riri was surprised, she definitely didn't think you'd say that.
"why don't I give you my number and we try to meet up before the both of us go our separate ways."
"that... that sounds fine, yeah"
she gives you her your phone, you input it and hand it back to her.
"text me, ok?"
"yea definitely"
you walk away, pay for your stuff and leave.
in the span of the next two days you spend them getting better.
it wasn't until the day before you had to leave that Riri finally texted you.
hey
this is riri btw
you race to text her back
hey, how you been??
alr, hbu
better now that I'm talkin to you:)
you two talk for a bit, just small stuff until you suggested something
I leave tomorrow so I was wondering if you wanna link today
it takes a minute for Riri to text back but you wait
yea that's cool, where you wanna meet??
you give her a time and place and as soon as you put your phone down your jumping in the shower to get ready, luckily none of your family were home. they went out, you only didn't go 'cause you played the sick card hoping Riri would text you.
an hour passed and by now your clean and ready. you hear a knock at the door.
you rush to answer it, knowing its Riri.
"hey you look nice"
Riri was wearing a simple hoodie and basketball shorts, and damn did it work for her. Not to mention the backpack slung on her shoulder that made your cunt jump
you sported shorts and a tank top, your tummy out, boobs basically spilling out your bra, ass barely covered with the peice of cloth you called shorts.
Riri took a moment to admire your body, face, the way you looked at her, with those low alluring eyes as if you wanted to fuck her right there in the door.
"are you gonna come in?
she looks up from your breast
"yea"
she steps in and the both of you walk into your childhood bedroom.
"here you can sit, get comfortable"
you both sit on your bed and just as your about to reach for the remote to fill the air, riri skips pass all that as she grabs your jaw and kisses you.
something slow, heated and sloppy.
She uses her hand to caress up and down your body, yours travel up inside her hoodie gripping her small breast.
she pushes you so your now laying down with her on top.
you two continue to eat each other's faces off with passion, her hands getting lower and lower until she reaches the band of your shorts. she reaches in and feels how wet your pussy is.
she pulls down your shorts surprised to see that you didn't have any panties on.
"damn ma, this all for me?"
she pulls down your shorts surprised to see that you didn't have on any underwear.
you don't give her any words just a small whine telling her to hurry up and fuck you.
she runs her finger up your slit until she reaches your clit making you jump at the sudden content.
she begins to rub slow, tight circles on the budding set of nerves, you let out a low moan as she smears your wetness around.
she makes a routine out of rubbing circles on your clit then traveling down to your hole as she pumps in and out of you a few times, then she repeats the cycle until your a whimper mess, squirming under her.
"pleasepleaseplease riri stop playin"
"you want me to stop ma?"
"n-no I... I want you to make me c-cum please"
you practically were crying as she continues to tease you, she leans down to kiss and suck on your neck, making sure to leave marks.
"you want me to make you cum right?"
"yes please"
"why should I? huh? when all you been doing is teasing me?"
"w-what? I- I didn't mean to-"
riri cuts you off by picking you up and turning you so your now face down ass up, she was stronger than she seemed.
she begins to pump her fingers in and out of you with speed, she takes her other hand and begins to rub fast circles on your clit, you could feel yourself about to reach that edge until she removes her fingers and replaces them with her warm wet tongue. she eats out your pussy as if your were her last meal, savoring your sweet, juicy taste. she moans out by it which sends vibration to your cunt.
your loud pornographic moans and whimpers along with the wet sounds of her eating you out fill the room.
the scene was like something out of a porno, you could feel your stomach begin to tighten and your legs began to shake.
"ahh fuckfuckfuck, baby...baby I'm cumming! I'm cumming"
even with the warning riri didn't expect you to squirt on her face and the bed, completely drenching everything. you scream out loud enough that you're sure the neighbors could hear and once your done releasing your liquids out, you fall over completely exhausted by the most earth shattering orgasm you've had.
you sit for a couple minutes to catch your breath, riri waited, rubbing small soothing circles on your thigh to calm you down.
once you look at her with lidded eyes she speaks up.
"you good?"
you shake your head yes as you sit up a bit on your headboard.
"you think you got at least one more in you?"
you look at Riri as she gets up to get her backpack that was thrown in a corner of the room
she pulled out a strap that was 8inches long, about the size of your forearm and glowing?
the size and girth nearly made your eyes pop out their sockets and you grew wetter by the sight.
she takes off her shorts and hoodie and begins to attach the harness and the dildo that went with it. she walks over to you, as she climbs on the bed mischievous grin that went with it.
riri notices your concerned expression as she asked you wants wrong.
"nothing I'm just not sure it'll fit."
riri, amused by your hesitation has a smirk plastered on her face.
"your a big girl, I'm sure you can handle it, right pretty?"
you smile softly at the pet name as you shake your head, as if that was confirmation riri grabs the faux dick and begins to slowly stroke it up and down, her head falls back as she lets out a low groan. you didn't understand how it was giving her such pleasure, maybe she was just trying to put on a show for you.
it wasn't until she opens her eyes and looks at you grinning.
"it's made out of vibranium, after a few test I was able to make it so that I could feel whatever you have to give me."
"so what? it's like a real dick?"
"if that's the way you wanna look at it, i guess.... open your legs"
you do as she says, revealing your dripping cunt.
she takes the tip, rubbing it along your slit. you buck up your hips desperately as you whine.
"damn ma, be patient. I'm not going anywhere"
"please riri"
the sound of your voice saying her name, desperate like a whore made riri wanna fuck you so bad, so in one swift move she flips you back on all fours pushing your back to create the perfect arch.
with no warning, no signal, she just straight started pounding into you, not even letting you adjust to the size as she gripped your waist. You screamed out her name, your hand gripping the bed sheets while she absolutely destroyed you.
"f- fuck riri, oh my g-godd. I can't baby please"
"please what? you want me to stop or sum?"
"n-no just slow the fuck down, fuck!" you yell out the last part of your sentence, instead of slowing down she goes in deeper, harder and faster until she found your g shot making you scream out.
you were slobbing and crying as she continues to abuse your swollen, puffy pussy.
with a few more thrust and her fingers rubbing your clit you cum all over her dick.
but riri wasn't done, she hadn't come yet and not to mention she wanted to pull more out of you.
so she continues to fuck you a little slower, still deep and still hitting that one spongy spot that had you moaning out like a pornstar.
riri could feel it and so could you.
she thrusted into you one last time, her hips stuttering as she cums with a low moan and your name, soon after you feel the band in your stomach snap as you squirt for the third time.
Tumblr media
fast forward to the next day, you and riri had cleaned each other up, she left and you both had gotten ready to leave to get back to college.
upon arrival, back to the stressful college life you found yourself in a different class, differential equations.
you get to class and the first thing you see in the front row is Riri motherfucking Williams who once she saw your surprised expression gave you a smirk and wink before turning back to her phone.
this was gonna be a lot more different than you thought.
Tumblr media
she's done, this took me way too long man.
hope we like her
remember feedback is always appreciated :)

Tumblr media
When Friday came, Hyejin had completely forgotten about this new friend, honestly, she couldn’t care much about him. Between her job and other things assaulting her mind, worrying about whoever was going to live with Haechan was the last thought in her mind. They were already friends, so he couldn’t be a bad person, but did she care about knowing him? Not really.
But maybe he would’ve been a good thing. If Haechan decided to go back to being friends with Zoya, she would’ve visited his place, met his roommate, fell for him, and Hyejin could sleep at night without the lingering fear of Zoya stealing her boyfriend.
To be honest, Hyejin hated the word ‘stealing’, people aren’t objects, you can’t steal them, but you can draw them to you, and if you know the power you have over them, maybe the wiser choice would be to leave them alone, especially if you already did it once and hurt them.
But even with that fantasy of setting the new boy up with Zoya, Hyejin still didn’t remember that he was already home when she barged inside Haechan’s place as if it was her own.
“Honey!” The brown-haired screamed, closing the door with a loud bang as she pushed it close with her feet, “I’m home. Brought grocery.”
“Oh, I thought it was just two of us, here.” A male voice echoed through the place. A tall man with dyed dark blonde hair was standing in front of her, dressed in casual clothes, with a rather surprised expression on his handsome face.
“Shit!” She screamed, bags full of stuff almost falling to the ground if only the stranger didn’t grab them promptly. When their eyes met, she could feel her heart throb in her chest, the eggs, God, the eggs, what if they broke anyway?
“Are you okay?” The man questioned, standing up, doing the favour of still keeping the bags in his arms that were surely stronger than hers.
She nodded, shaking her head and brushing her hair back while a look of panic still painted her face. “The eggs.”
“The eggs?” His brows raised in perplexity as his head tilted to the side.
“Yeah, can you see if the eggs broke? I wanted to make a cake and now no cake, and no ramen too with no eggs.”
The blonde stared at her for a few seconds, studying her eyes and the nervous movements of her fingers before he coughed and shook his head. “I’m sure they’re fine,” he voiced, walking to the kitchen followed by her.
“I think you crashed them,” she said, lightly jumping up and down on her tiptoes by his side, apprehensively waiting for him to find the containers with the eggs.
“I think you scare yourself too easily,” he commented with a hint of sarcasm in his husky voice.
“Excuse me?”
The man chuckled, and a beautiful, breathtaking, smile appeared on his face. “Didn’t you know I was coming? If you live here, you surely agreed to me moving in, right? You know about me?” He asked while his voice broke into a high-pitched tone full of worries with each question. Haechan couldn’t be so damn dumb to don’t warn his roommate, right?
“Oh! Oh, shit, it’s you! Yeah, I know about you, you slipped my mind, I’m sorry, but yeah, yeah,” she blurted out, running a hand in her hair before cupping her face. Why was she so forgetful? And why she couldn’t avoid making a fool of herself for once?
“Great,” he smiled, letting out a breath of relief before grinning at her antics. “And I’ll pay for the eggs if they’re broken.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” Hyejin reassured, moving her hand in a dismissive move. “And I don’t live here, by the way.”
“Oh,” he whispered while he was still intent on placing everything on the table to find the eggs and make sure they weren’t crushed. “You… don’t?”
“No, I’m Haechan’s girlfriend, I just grocery-shopped for me and, while I was there, I thought about doing it also for him.” She quirked a brow when she saw his reaction to her words. Was that a weird thing to do? It was just a nice gesture, and to her, it was pretty normal, just like ten thousand other things she would do in his place.
“You’re nice…?” He said, letting the phrase hang, waiting for her to fill him in about her name.
“Hyejin,” she greeted with a bright smile that turned into a shy laugh when she realized they had been talking for so long and did everything but introduce each other. “You?”
“Jaemin, Na Jaemin, for my friends Nana,” he greeted, his 32 teeth smile on his face again.
“Nana, that’s pretty,” she said. “So, do you mind helping me?”
Jaemin smiled and then nodded. “The least I can do after I almost gave you a heart attack for your eggs.”
Tumblr media
“Wow, you already became friends,” Haechan exclaimed, entering the kitchen and seeing how close Hyejin and Jaemin were already, chatting about something he couldn’t grasp.
“He helped with the food. I passed by the mall and thought of you. You would die without me,” she finished jokingly, leaving Jaemin’s side to reach Haechan, and wrapping her arms around his shoulders before kissing him gently. “Missed you.”
“It was a tough week,” he whispered, pulling away from the kiss, and walking around the table to see what was left in the bags. “Bought some things,” he joked.
“You would starve without me,” she said. “Don’t have to thank me, by the way.”
Haechan rolled his eyes and grabbed a bag of his favourite biscuits before walking back to her. “Thanks,” he said, doing pouty lips. “How much do I owe you?”
“I don’t remember, we can settle it later. Or I could gift this to you, a welcome gift for the new boy,” Hyejin said, turning to Jaemin that was staring at them with an expression she couldn’t name. But he only smiled before looking away when their eyes met.
“Whatever you prefer,” Haechan shrugged, bringing her attention back to him, “by the way, I’m going to the skate park with Jeno, are you coming?”
Her eyes darkened and a frown formed on her face. “But, we were supposed to hang out?”
“I know, babe, but…” he sighed, “I forgot that I promised to him and Yangyang before I promised it to you.”
She sighed but nodded without complaining further. “It’s fine, you had a long week with the moving in and then your job,” her lips curled in a smile and her hand lifted to caress his cheeks. “Have fun and don’t hurt yourself like last time.”
Haechan chuckled. “It was a mistake and it was Yangyang’s fault.”
She raised a brow and then laughed. “Sure, whatever. Can we eat together, though?”
“Sure, I’ll be home before 7. If you want, I can grab something while coming back.”
“No, I’ll cook something.”
“Okay, bye,” he said, waving to them and leaving the house.
When Haechan left, silence filled the room, and Hyejin wouldn’t have found it nerve-wracking if it only wasn’t for Jaemin’s persistent gaze on her.
“Excuse me, everything alright?”
Jaemin didn’t comprehend she was talking to him right away and hesitated before answering in a mumble, “yeah, yeah, I was just… thinking.”
“Oh, you wanted to be alone?”
“What?” He asked, brows furrowing. “No, no, I can’t kick you out of the house,” he said, words followed by a light laugh, “not that I would. I have no reasons; you are so nice.”
Hyejin’s eyes crinkled up and a small dimple poked her right cheek while a whispered thanks slurred from her lips. “You were thinking about what? If you want to tell me.”
“No, it’s nothing,” he shrugged, leaning against the kitchen counter and watching as she moved around as if that was her place, cleaning up as if it was her duty, and sure, Jaemin knew nothing about them and their dynamics but something about everything felt off. Maybe it was the jet lag, or the Korean air after years of America, yes, it had to be that.
Her soft giggle brought him back to earth. “What’s so funny?”
“You,” she said. “Are you tired?”
“Do I look that horrible?”
She shook her head while she folded the bags and then placed them under the sink, ready to be used again. “You look shaken. Is your room already set up?”
Jaemin shrugged. “Partially, the truck with most of my things got lost and I have no idea when I will have my piano, my guitar, and my bed.”
She gasped, signalling him to follow her on the couch. “Your bed?”
“Yep, and while you’re here,” he coughed, “did you and Hyuck have plans for a spicy night or can I sleep with him tonight?”
Hyejin laughed and shook her head. “I’m sorry but that’s hilarious.”
“My tragedy it’s hilarious? I spent years giving that mattress my shape, if I don’t get it by tomorrow, I will cry.”
His voice and expression only made her laugh more, to the point of tears. “Sorry, it was bad luck, but the good news is you can sleep with my boyfriend.”
“Great, I hope he stopped kicking with time.”
She chuckled. “He doesn’t kick me when we sleep together.”
“So, you’re sure you won’t hate me? He already cancelled plans with you today.”
“No, don’t worry, I’m used to it,” she said light-heartedly but then her expression changed when she saw Jaemin’s furrowed eyes.
“You’re used to it?”
“Yeah, you have no ideas how many times Haechan says we will do something and then forgets about it or changes it to something else like staying at home or… staying at home.”
While her voice was light and playful, Jaemin didn’t find it so funny but, once again, it had been years he had been with Haechan so maybe he was like this with everybody, maybe he simply changed and also she seemed fine with it, so who was he to judge?
“What about you? I’ve been friends with Hyuck since we were crawling, but I can’t remember you.”
“Do you know all his friends?”
“Mostly,” she said, bringing her knees to the couch and turning to the side to look at him better.
“I used to travel a lot, so probably that’s why you don’t know me. Also, I was his friend from his grandparents’ town, that’s where we met.”
“Oh, yeah, it makes sense,” she said. “And why are you here now?”
“Studied in America and then decided to come back here to see if Korea had something magical for my future, we’ll see if this will be the dumbest idea I’ve ever made or the best.”
She chuckled, eyes softening. “Are you afraid?”
Jaemin sighed, rubbing his neck. “Aren’t we all? Shouldn’t we? Fear is not necessarily bad, right?”
Hyejin hummed. “Well, I’m not sure.”
“What is it?”
She chuckled nervously. “The future.”
“Oh, if you look at it that way, it is scary.”
“Yeah, but I can’t find a job. I mean I have a job, I work in a library and I managed to create a small book club every Tuesday with adults and another on Friday dedicated to little kids, but my art degree has led me nowhere. I’m losing my passion for painting, I don’t have time for painting, I feel like a failure because my parents warned me about it,” she sighed. “I’m sorry, shit, that’s not what I wanted to show you of me.” Not even Haechan wanted to listen to her rant most of the time, why would a stranger be okay with it?
“No, keep going,” he reassured her, touching her hand, stopping her nervous movements, and unconsciously rubbing his thumb on her palm. “I love listening.”
She gulped, briefly looked at their hands and his eyes, and then went on. “I fear I won’t find my place in this world, and I know I’m only 22 and I have time, but… everything spins around so fast, everyone seems better than you, at everything, and… it sucks.”
Jaemin chuckled, “It sucks.”
“Are you making fun of me?” She huffed, pulling her hand away and crossing her arms.
“No, I agree. It sucks. But I’m not sure you want to listen to my talks against capitalism and its damages to people and the environment or other talks about economies and how humans are not made for this stressful, time-ticking life and how at this point it’s just surviving and not living, right?”
A smile spread on her face, cheeks heating up. “Maybe one day, I’d love to listen.”
“One day,” Jaemin smiled widely, perfect white teeth in view and eyes full of a hopeful warmth. “Now, any other fears?”
Haechan.
It lingered in her brain. All the fears about their future. How everything she dreamed of seemed to be secondary to him. How the future she pictured for them seemed so different from the drawing he had in mind. Incompatible. And somehow, they always found a way to never talk about it.
“Nothing,” she whispered, swallowing the gulp in her chest. “Just that.”
“Great,” he beamed. “I can tell you one thing my grandma said to me, you have a place in this world, you just have to find it, but you have it, and one day, you will discover it, get comfortable in it, and you’ll realize that everything you had to face had led you to the highest place in your life.”
She swiftly wiped away a tear and smiled. “Thanks, I will try to remember it when I have my lowest moment. Want to help me think about something for dinner?”
“Sure, I love cooking!”
“Really? I love it too!”
Hyejin had no idea if Jaemin would’ve been a perfect match for Zoya, but for now, that thought didn’t cross her mind, for now, it only looked like she could’ve found a new amazing friend, and that was something that had been missing for a while in her life.
Tumblr media
“What do you mean boiled chicken with no seasoning?” Hyejin asked speechless, stirring the food in the pot while Jaemin finished setting the table.
“I’m not kidding, that’s when I learnt to never accept invites at other people’s houses,” he laughed, but the thought of that dinner sent shivers down his spine.
“Well, you’ll eat well here,” she promised.
“Because you are the chef of the house?”
She grinned, humming after tasting the food. “Most of the time.”
“Wait, do you live here?”
She shook her head. “Nope, but we’re both very busy and I try to spend more time as possible with him. And I love this made-up sense of domestic life I dream to have one day.”
“And he never comes to your place?” Jaemin didn’t want to pry, but since he arrived there, Haechan didn’t talk about her as much as she talked about him. He wasn’t even sure his friend told him he had a girlfriend. And in the last few hours, he got to see that she acted like a wife.
“Not as much as I am here, but if you don’t want me around, we can —”
“No,” Jaemin stopped her instantly. “You care about him… a lot, it’s nice.”
Her face heated up and she looked away. “Is it so evident?”
“Mhh, yes?”
“What’s so evident?” Another voice asked.
“Haechan!” She exclaimed, rushing to the kitchen door to hug him.
“Babe,” he groaned, pulling back, “I’m all sweaty.”
“I don’t care,” she said, hugging him anyway. “I missed you,” she pouted, cupping his face before bringing her lips to his.
“Missed you too,” he smiled, leaving a small peck on her lips before looking behind her to stare at the pots. “Mhh, it smells delicious here, is it all from you?”
She scoffed, flicking her ponytail in a bragging motion. “It’s always me.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know, without you I’d be dead,” he laughed. “I’ll go take a quick shower and then we can eat, alright?”
“Yes, we’ll wait for you.”
Jaemin coughed. “You don’t really come here every day to feed him?”
“Oh my god, why do you say it like that?” She laughed but Jaemin’s serious face made her stop another time. “I’m not a maid.”
“I know, but…”
“I just love cooking, and my roommates usually have different shifts, so they are home later than me, and I’d rather eat with my boyfriend than alone.”
Jaemin hummed, lips pressed together as he helped with the other two pots and brought them to the table.
“Are you sure you’re comfortable with me around?”
“Yes, I told you, I like you. I mean, I don’t know you much but… I think we get alone, right? At least for now.”
Hyejin nodded. “I like you too, but if anything makes you uncomfortable don’t be afraid of talking to me.”
“Yes, sure.” Jaemin smiled warmly, grabbing even the last pan and setting it on the table before placing a hand on her shoulder. “But I don’t think you’ll ever make me uncomfortable.”
Tumblr media
“Jaem, it’s not possible you don’t remember her. Come on, I had a fake phone with her photo on it and I used to always be on call with her, you thought I was crazy and I made her up,” Haechan said. It was mid-dinner, and after talks and talks, the topic focused on their childhood and how strange it was Hyejin and Jaemin didn’t meet before when they were so close with Haechan.
“Now that I think about it, I remember him talking about you,” Jaemin said, pointing a finger at her. “He really looked insane, and you seemed too perfect from his talks so I thought he made you up and that photo was cut out of a journal or something.”
Hyejin laughed. “Too perfect? So you really loved me all along?”
Haechan gulped, eyes dimming a bit of their happy light, but smile still pulled in a line. “I guess.” He wasn’t sure it was love back then, not like what they shared now, at least. They were each other’s half since the start, always there for each other, in the good and bad, and he truly wouldn’t have survived without her, but when he found out how she loved him all along, he felt that what he always felt for her wasn’t enough.
“Wait, you’re not dating since forever?” Jaemin asked, bringing him back on earth, and making her blush brightly.
“We were kids,” Haechan huffed, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, but you’ve dating for a while, now, right? At least until high school, you used to talk about your girlfriend back then, you were head over heels just as you are now.” Jaemin hyped tone didn’t meet the energy that fell in the room, time freezing and awkward fits of cough coming from Hyejin’s mouth.
“I wasn’t dating her in high school… well, we started to date during the last year, but I don’t think I’ve ever talked to you about her,” Haechan said awkwardly, and Jaemin’s face filled with sorrow.
“Oh, I’m… I’m sorry, I just… I made assumptions and I made them wrong,” he tried to joke about it, hoping it would ease the tension, and it worked, making Hyejin giggle and tell him to not worry with a wave of the hand.
“It’s fine, our story is weird,” she explained, but her mind was going down a completely different path. She wasn’t surprised hearing Haechan was head over heels for Zoya, she was there, witnessing it with her eyes, hearing him rant about how much he loved her. But it had to be a good thing that Jaemin thought Haechan shared the same love for her, too, right? If Haechan talked about her the same way he talked about Zoya, if he looked at her the same way, she was sure he loved her a lot.
Jaemin wanted to say something more but only limited himself to a fake smile and a nod of the head before hiding behind the glass of wine.
“What about you?” Hyejin asked, deciding it was better to change the topic and shine the light on him.
“About me or my dating life?” He asked, placing the glass down, and smiling at her.
“Your dating life, you look like a heartbreaker,” she joked, tucking a fallen strand of hair behind her ear.
Jaemin snickered, leaning back against the backrest of the chair. “I’m pretty lame actually. I think I break hearts because people fall for me and I rarely love them back.”
Haechan scoffed. “If only you weren’t so damn hard to please.”
“Me, hard to please? Have you taken a look in the mirror?” Jaemin retorted playfully.
“Uh, uh, I’ve got her,” Haechan replied, indicating Hyejin with a nod of the head.
“It sounds as if you two gave it a romantic shot and it didn’t work out,” she said, trying to suppress the laugh but when they both turned to her glaring at her, she broke out laughing. “I’m sorry but why did it get so personal?”
“Because I’m not hard to please, I like simple things,” Jaemin explained, shrugging. “As long as I’m with the one I love, I’m happy.”
Haechan rolled his eyes, sipping from his glass before leaning into her ear and whispering, “Don’t believe him.”
“Ugh,” Jaemin gasped offended. “If only I didn’t respect our friendship I’d tell her to put me on a test.”
Hyejin shook her head, snickering. “You two still act like children, trying to make it up for the lost years?”
“If he lies, I’m afraid I’ll have to report it to the teacher,” Jaemin joked before poking his tongue out to Haechan.
“God, you are unsufferable, I had forgotten about it.”
“Maybe you’ll find love here,” Hyejin said, cutting their bickerings, and bringing a hand under her chin.
“Who knows, life is unpredictable,” Jaemin smiled tenderly, playing with the shaft of the glass.
“I hope you will settle in here.”
Tumblr media
After a month, Jaemin was more than settled in Seoul and in that house. It wasn’t easy to get accustomed to a new life, find a job and meet new friends, but it wasn’t even that hard.
Haechan was still the usual social butterfly he was back in time, and his friends were nice, so soon enough Jaemin started to hang out with them too. Life was pretty erratic, but at the same time, something felt cosy about everything when he came home after a long day at work.
At first, he thought it simply was the warm color of the living room, or the candles scattered on the shelves, or the smell of food that filled the place most of the nights when he returned home. But after two months, he understood that warm feeling was Hyejin.
At the start, he found it odd that she was at their place so much, it was even annoying because he had imagined having some time and space alone with his best friend after so many years of being away, but he couldn’t hate her even if he tried.
Something wasn’t quite right, though.
Jaemin had been studying them for a while; he wasn’t a creep, and he truly didn’t want to get in their personal business, but it was rather impossible when they were always in front of his eyes. Hyejin always made sure to pass by even for a quick hello and a kiss, rare were the days when she couldn’t because she was too busy or too tired from work, and Jaemin had learned that on Friday they had their special night together, that consisted in having a different type of date. And if it was possible, during the weekend, it was as if she moved in with them.
But if he quickly drew a map of their relationship, he could also easily see all the things that jarred in the picture.
Hyejin truly was the light of the house, a warm presence, a reassuring hug. She was all over Haechan, and every time Jaemin stopped to stare at the way her eyes would look at Haechan, he could swear he had never seen a person more in love than her. If heart eyes were real, they would belong to her. He couldn’t even not notice her lingering touches, her slim fingers looking for Haechan’s hands, almost shyly, as if for some reason she couldn’t, as if that wasn’t her place. Her fingertips would run on his hand, or his thighs, tracing patterns while she listened to him talk with a lost, in-love, smile on her face, or she would run them in his black hair, playing with it until Haechan glared at her for ruining his style.
But all that love seemed to meet a cold wall when Jaemin’s eyes landed on Haechan. He was sure his friend loved her too, Jaemin could hear the tender tone behind his ‘babe’ and ‘honey’, and how happy she was when he randomly gifted her something unexpected. For some reason, though, his love didn’t seem just as strong. And sometimes Jaemin wondered if Haechan truly loved her or not.
He tried not to focus on it, it wasn’t his problem, he probably should’ve focused on finding somebody on his own instead of analysing his best friend’s relationship, but his brain couldn’t help but run miles when they were in front of him.
Haechan started pushing her gentle touch away, stopping her with a colder tone when she brushed her hair and swiftly pulled away from the kiss. And Jaemin wouldn’t have cared about it if only he didn’t witness her eyes saddening with every rejection.
“Don’t you think Haechan has been acting weird?” He dared to ask one day. They were alone at home since Haechan went out to buy some drinks. Jaemin wanted to mind his business and stay locked in his room, but when he went downstairs and saw her on the couch, he couldn’t bite his tongue.
Hyejin lifted her gaze from the phone to him, a cute wrinkle forming on her forehead as she tried to understand what he meant by that. “What are you referring to?”
Jaemin sighed, walking in fast steps to sit next to her. “Doesn’t he seem more distant and cold?”
“Oh,” she whispered, locking her phone to let it drop at her side before turning to face him. “A bit…”
“And… you’re fine with it?”
“I mean, he’s probably just stressed because of work, he’s going insane over it, so I don’t feel like blaming him. Why? Did he answer you badly? I know it’s not nice, but he tends to get easily triggered when he’s stressed.”
Jaemin wanted to slap himself. Of course, he was just making things up in his brain, reading too much between the lines. It had been too long since he had been so close with Haechan and he didn’t know him as much as Hyejin did. It had to be just stress. “No, you’re right, he told me the new shifts are screwing him and the boss is making him go through hell, I’m just… dumb.”
“But why? If he said something to you, I can talk to him.”
“No, no,” Jaemin reassured her, trying to comfort her with a smile. “It wasn’t about me.”
Hyejin smiled. “Wait, you were worried about me?”
Jaemin’s eyes widened and she chuckled at his expression. “I wasn’t worried,” he stopped her immediately, “it’s just that… you, oh, never mind, he’s just stressed anyway, you don’t need to hear my useless rants about imaginary stuff.”
She laughed. “Okay, fine, I won’t torture you. But I think that’s a sign you haven’t found anybody if you’re so worried about me.”
He pressed his lips together, sighing undefeated. “I don’t know if I want to add a relationship to the mix of moving to another country and starting a new job and obsessing over my best friend not treating my half-roommate like a princess even when his brain is fried.”
Hyejin chuckled, playfully hitting his shoulder. “Let’s change the obsessing over my boyfriend and me with having time for a relationship?” She teased, placing her hands on his shoulders and batting her eyes at him.
“Why does it sound like you’re trying to set me up with someone?”
“Because I am,” she replied resolutely.
Jaemin rolled his eyes. “Fine, but just because it’s you.”
Tumblr media
“I told Jaemin about Zoya,” Hyejin whispered, hot breath hitting Haechan’s chest, covered in the t-shirt he used as pyjamas as they laid in bed.
“You did what?” He asked, looking down at her, not able to hide the shock behind his voice and eyes.
“I didn’t murder anybody, I told him he could meet Zoya,” she explained, not getting his reaction.
“I know but she will get him killed,” he said. “They will never match.”
“You don’t know. Jaemin’s sweet and Zoya’s a nice girl, so, why not?”
Haechan chuckled. “Oh, so you compliment her sometimes?”
“Shut up, I’ve never said a bad thing about her.”
Haechan raised a brow, silently questioning her words.
“Fine, maybe I did, but only when she broke your heart,” our hearts, “and I just called her out for the things she did to you, never went past that. And when she doesn’t break my boyfriend’s heart, she is nice.”
He chuckled, shaking his head before leaving a peck on her forehead. “You’re cute when you get riled up, but try to keep it down. Come here,” he ordered, pulling her closer to start a heated kiss, surely not with the intention of turning it into hands roaming on skin and whimpers filling the room.
“We can’t… Jaemin,” Hyejin whispered against his lips when he rolled her over to make her lay on the mattress.
“We’ll keep quiet,” Haechan reassured her, leaving one last kiss before he started removing her clothes, right before his met the same fate.
“You’re so pretty, you know?”
She hummed, watching as he leaned down to kiss her bare breast before his lips reached her nipples to suck on them. She pushed down a moan while her nails scratched the bedsheets. “Can I make it up for making you mad?”
“You didn’t make me mad, but I’ll pretend to be very offended by what you say, so yes, make it up,” she joked, making him smile.
Haechan moved down until he reached between her legs and then leaned in, breath hitting her pussy, already sending shivers down her spine. Haechan didn’t add other words, he never did, only started leaving kisses on her inner thigh and slowly dragged his mouth closer to her centre.
“Please, don’t tease me,” she huffed.
“I’m not teasing, I’m taking care of you,” he retorted, going on with his soft touches. “Just relax, it was a stressful day, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah.”
“Good, so let me take the stress away.” While his lips kept kissing her skin, his hands moved up to touch her body, smiling as he felt her tremble under him, and when enough time passed, he felt like starting to take care of her like she wanted. His tongue laid flat on her pussy, wetting it before he started concentrating on the clit. Haechan was thoughtful and methodical, always following his usual pattern of long strokes of his tongue followed by careful sucks on her clit. And, when he felt generous enough, he even added a finger, just like now.
“Haechan,” she breathed out, voice shaky as her head rolled back, and fire rushed in her veins.
“Feels good, doesn’t it?” He hummed against her, staring at her, only seeing her boobs raising fast, and part of her neck.
“So good.”
“’S good? Then come all over my tongue,” he encouraged in a low groan, quickening his movements while his hands moved to cup her thighs and spread her more. “Show me how good I make you feel, baby, come on.”
And it took nothing for her to come, shaking like a leaf while her legs closed around his head, as he never stopped his movements, teasing his tongue inside before going back at her throbbing clit to suck it.
“Mhh, fuck,” she moaned, feeling breathless when he pulled away, the high slowing down. “Want you.”
“Not caring about Jaemin anymore?”
“I can keep silent,” she pouted, grabbing him to push him close to her.
Haechan chuckled and then moved her up on the bed to fix her better before he aligned his hips to hers. “Want you so badly, since he’s around we stopped fucking like rabbits.”
“Haechan! You’re so vulgar.”
“But we were used to it, you can’t deny,” he said, kissing her neck.
“Never denied, there are ways and ways to say things.”
“Mhh, can I be inside you or is it vulgar?”
“Just fuck me, please.”
“Boo, vulgar.”
“Hae — shit,” she cursed when he pushed in, hands reaching his shoulders for support while her legs wrapped around his waist.
Haechan chuckled, starting to thrust his hips into her. “I’m not going anywhere.”
A moan rolled from her mouth, eyes parting to stare at him. A cute furrow on his forehead while his eyes stared at her face. “You’re beautiful, you know?”
She didn’t reply, only smiled widely before turning her face to the side to hide the blush on her face. But Haechan placed two fingers under her chin and moved her face again, kissing her softly.
She felt all the stress of the long day leave her body as the pleasure incremented with every snap of his hips, not hard but rhythmic enough to push her closer to her climax.
“Hyuck,” she whimpered, nails digging into his back, dragging a hiss out of his mouth.
“Yes, babe? Are you close?”
She hummed, eyes squeezing shut as she felt the orgasm approach. She never had anybody but him, but she was sure nobody else would ever be able to read her like he could. She wished she wouldn’t ever have to feel other hands on her skin, or lips on her body because only his could feel this right. And now that his lips were gently teasing one of her nipples, while his hand was between her leg to stimulate her clit, and he whispered praises right against her ear, she truly felt like nobody else could get her.
“Fuck, you feel too good,” he moaned, lips leaving her sensitive bud so that his face could drop in the crook of her neck. “Come with me.”
She hummed, sounds muffled into her mouth as she kept her lower lip trapped between her teeth to don’t be too loud. This time the pleasure rushed over her with more force as her hips raised from the mattress to rut against his and chase the high. Haechan had this tendency of being a bit too loud when he came, so she was quick at trapping his lips on her, and kissing him throughout the orgasm, muffling his whimpers and moans, mixing them with hers.
“Fuck,” he exhaled after a minute, pulling out of her and collapsing to the side. “Look at you,” he whispered, laying on his side while he caressed her hair, pushing it back on her forehead, leaning in to kiss her cheek. “you always look so hot after sex.”
She chuckled, shifting to hide against his chest. “Shut up, I look like a mess.”
“A mess I made, so you’re hot,” Haechan said, pulling her closer. “Shower? Then I could use a snack, you know?”
Hyejin rolled her eyes jokingly, “You already had one.”

A little bit of Nicky angst
Tumblr media
Summary: The reader is on Adam's team in the tnt title match. Desperate to convince Nick that he's on the wrong side, an heated argument during the match.
"You know that you don't have to be here tonight, right, Y/N?" Adam reminds you one last time as the rental care pulls into the arena lot.
"Yes, I do, Adam." You shake your head. "He's my friend. I have to help him." You insist with a stoic expression.
Adam shakes his head. He can see the pain and disappointment written plainly on your face, not matter how hard you're trying to hide it. "He was your friend." Adam tries to reason with you one last time, putting emphasis on 'was'. "Now he's Christians problem."
"You haven't up on Christian yet, have you?" You turn to face Adam with a knowing look. "Right. So I'm not giving up on Nick."
"Okay." Adam sighs and starts looking for a place to park the rental car.
The two of you head inside the arena and down to the locker rooms to get ready for the show. You aren't actually involved in the match, so you just have to wait for Adam to change into his ring gear.
Adam has been sort of a mentor to you for these past few months. After Nick, the boy that's been your friend since childhood betrayed you. Nick tried to get you to join him at Christians side. But how could you? Especially after everything that Cage has said about both Nick and your families. You just can't understand what the hell Nick is doing. But you're determined to save him before Christian completely brainwashes the 'Wayne' out of Nick.
You wait patiently for Adam to get changed and check up on your socials while you wait. Your feeds are all filled with talk of Christian and Adam's match. Talk of Nick's mom being on Christian's side also fills your feed. And of course, talk of if Nick will finally managed to help Christian brainwash you to his side fly over your screen.
"Alright!" Adam comes out of the back of the locker room in his ring gear. "What's going on over there, kid?" He asks when he notices your sour expression. "You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." You huff and close  your phone down before tucking it away. "What about you? Are you ready?" You ask him right back.
Adam chuckles and shrugs. "I don't know." He admits. "Am I ready to kick the crap out of my best friend in the world? No. But am I ready to take that belt and get revenge for what was said about my family? Hell yes." He explains.
"Right, I get it." You nod. "I hope you win tonight, Adam." You smile at him.
"So do I." Adam chuckles again. "And I hope you win too." He adds with a joking smile.
You both laugh and it comes time for the match to begin soon. You head out at Adam's side but let him get his entrance in. You come out after him and hang around in the far corner and wait for Christian and his entourage to head out.
Christian's entrance music hits and you watch him walk out with a sneer on your face. Nick comes out at his side and your sneer warps into a pained look.
"Hey!" Adam leans down over the ropes and calls to you. "It's going to be fine, alright?" He assures you.
"I'm alright." You nod.
Christian gets about halfway down the ramp when written Adam hops out of the ring and makes a b-line for his former best friend. You remain in the corner and watch the chaos. Christian and Adam go at it for a while before the action ends up back in the ring.
"Y/N! What are you doing out here with him?" Nick comes around the corner, putting extra emphasis on 'him'.
"I could ask the same about you, Nick." You fire back at him, trying to stay strong. "What the hell are you doing?" You ask him. "Look at who you're working with! Did you forget about everything he's said about your family?"
Nick scoffs, clearly offended by the question. "Come on, Y/N!" He shakes his head. "Why should I care? Look at what Christian has done for me in the past few months!" His shakes his hand at you.
"What? What has he done, Nick? Make you his errand boy?" You snap back at him. "I don't understand? Why are you doing this?" You ask him.
"I'm moving up in the world, Y/N. And I wasn't going to get anywhere in Darby's shadow." Nick replies coldly. "What about you? I don't see you trailing after Darby anymore. You hitched yourself to Copeland. How am I any different?" He points out.
You bite the inside of your lip in frustration. "What about me?" You dare ask the question that's been weighing on you for so long now. "Do I mean nothing to you anymore? My thoughts? Opinions? Do you even care about me anymore?" You ask him.
Nick scoffs, clearly hurt by the question. "Of course I still care about you! Do you think I'd be here talking to you if I didn't? No. I'd be helping Christian." He insists. "I'm here because I care. Because I miss you and I want you to come with me."
"You know I'd never do that, Nick." You shake your head. "Not after what Christian has said about my family. And you shouldn't either." You chide him.
"What about us?" Nick replies, trying to egg you on.
You step back from him and shake your head. "What about us?" You repeat him. "No one is stopping us from still being friends, or more." You insist. "Nothing but Christian Cage using you."
"He's not using me!" Nick snaps at you. "He's helping me." He insists.
"Helping you, right." You scoff.
Back in the ring, Christian is having a hard time keeping Adam at bay. He frantically looks around for Nick and finds him talking to you. "Nick! Get over here and help me!" He shouts at his protégé.
Nick turns his head and looks at Christian before turning back to you. You can see some conflict in his eyes, but you know that Nick won't stay. Not when Christian is calling. You've lost him.
"Daddy's calling, Nick." You glare at him with crossed arms. "Better see what he needs."
Nick's hurt look warps into one of anger. "Whatever." He scoffs. "I tried, Y/N." He adds before he hurries off.
"Yeah, you tried real hard, Nick!" You call after him.
The match rolls on and you keep to yourself the whole time. Your attempt at getting to Nick was a total failure, so you're left with nothing to do but watch. The bout is grueling to watch and by the time Adam is tossing Nick through a flaming table you are ready to head backstage.
"Shit. Come on." You wince when Nick hits the flaming table and goes tumbling to the ground.
Done with all this carnage, you make a quick shout to Adam then move to head backstage. You pass by Nick and his mom on the ramp and stop for a second. Shayna looks up at you with pleading eyes but you scoff at her.
"Please, you're just as bad as him, Shayna." You scoff at her. "It's not right. Both of you are insane for siding with him." You nod down to Christian in the ring.
You glance over at Nick one last time and he meets your gaze. His pleading eyes make you want to stop and help him. But you can't bring yourself to do it.

Taking it back: a wolfstar oneshot (?)
“You still have these?” Sirius asks, holding up his Pokémon card deck with two fingers, like a cigarette, just like he had before either of them were old enough to smoke.
“I wasn’t about to throw them out,” Remus shrugs, shifting against his wall and wincing when he hears his Bowie poster crinkle.
“What, you think they’ll be worth anything in ten years?” Sirius says, wiggling the card over to get the sun glinting in the silver part.
“I wouldn’t sell them if they were.”
That gets him to turn with a quirked brow. After a beat, a slanted smirk grows. “You sentimental prick.”
Remus rolls his eyes. “Not everything’s about money.”
“Sure, but, c’mon.” Sirius waves the cards around before sliding them in his jacket pocket. “You’ve got me still, you don’t need the bloody shiny.” Remus pushes himself off the wall and is grappling Sirius’ arm in seconds.
“That’s not funny, give them back.” Sirius, the prick, prickishly keeps his hands buried in his pockets and swerves any attempt Remus makes to get them out.
“Why?” He smoothly sidesteps another dive with an infuriating amused smile. “They were mine, I’m just taking back my loan.” Remus straightens, three feet away from his friend. His room isn’t big, they’ve swam around three circles by now.
“They were a gift, you can’t take back a gift.”
“Why not?”
“How would you feel if I took your stupid bloody radio?”
Sirius, even with his snow white complexion, blanches, smirk finally slipping off his face. “You wouldn’t.”
“Oh, you know I would.” He delivers it in a slow, low tone to get his point across.
Sirius shuffles the cards around in his pockets nervously, narrows his eyes. “You like Queen just as much as I do.”
“Not that loudly. And don’t forget who bought you that CD.”
Sirius’ throat audibly clicks in a swallow. “Fine, have them,” he says after a moment, putting the deck on Remus’ desk with a thud. “I don’t even get why you care so much, they’re just stupid merch for a show we barely watched.”
Remus walks over and sorts the cards into a pile. “Would you quit being obtuse? I keep them because you gave them to me.”
He doesn’t need to turn to know his friend is making a face. A stupid one. “I give you things   all the time.”
“It was different then. We were different people.”
Sirius cracks his neck. “We were shorter,” he says sardonically.
“Yeah, well, I happen to think there’s some value in preserving memories as they happened.” He wraps the cards up with a near-crumbling elastic and puts it back in his cardboard box of childhood memorabilia.
Sirius snorts. “Oh please, nostalgia is a lie our brains tell us because it’s always out to kill us. It’s our entire job to tell it to shut up.”
“What about our friendship makes you so eager to forget it?” Remus asks irritably, giving the box a good shove so it slides under his bed.
“That’s not the point at all, the point is that the past is the past, good or not.”
“So do you not think the past informs the present at all? You’re just a completely new person every second.”
“Yes, actually, I do,” Sirius says, self satisfied.
“Great,” Remus says, before punching Sirius in the shoulder like he’s seen James do during Quidditch.
“Ow!” His friend exclaims, reaching for the offended area. “The hell was that for?!”
“I don’t know, you should ask me from a second ago.” He bats his eyes innocently. “I’m a different person now.”
Sirius punches his shoulder and Remus’ arm immediately cramps with his nerves’ protests.
“Jesus!”
“Sorry, that was meant for you from a second ago,” he says, presumably going for impish but snarling the words.
“I was just proving a point, you did it way harder!”
“I did it just as hard as you!”
“You’re basically wearing armour with your stupid shoulder pads!” Sirius hugs his arms with raised shoulders. “I am not wearing shoulder pads, it’s just the model of all leather jackets!”
“Well, the stupid model of your stupid leather jacket has stupid shoulder pads!”
Sirius shoves him and he has to step back to catch himself, not expecting the attack. “You don’t get to call my jacket stupid when all you wear are ugly sweaters.”
Remus shoves him back, more effectively with the advantage of his height. “You’re being ridiculous!” The last word is winded because of Sirius tackling him onto his bed. They roll around grappling for the upper hand and sprinkle in petty curses.
“You unfeeling bastard,” Remus gets in before Sirius rolls them over so he’s on top.
“You went after my style, and you’re calling me the unfeeling one?” Sirius argues.
“They’re ripped out of a Muggle magazine, they’re barely even your clothes ‘cause you sure as hell aren’t original,” Remus retorts.
“You’re just jealous ‘cause you can’t show your arms,” Sirius says, making both of them freeze. Their hands are clasped together but Sirius’ loosen their grip as he sits back, shocked at himself. “Remus…” he starts, but gets interrupted by Remus throwing him back, landing him on the ground with a thud and a groan.
“Shit,” Remus says, eyes wide. He retreats into his body, still hopped up on adrenaline from the fight, his mind somewhere above him, looking at his arms frozen in front of him as a stranger’s (as a hairier iteration). He shakes himself and slides off the bed, crouching down next to his friend. “Shit,” he repeats, “Sirius, I’m so sorry, are you alright? Can you breathe?”
Sirius, worryingly, just groans again, gasping air as Remus helps him sit up and tries to teach him how to breathe again. After a minute or two, he gasps out “Fuck-” another gasp “-you.”
“I’m sorry, I’m so fucking sorry, I got so angry, or, I dunno, I couldn’t think-” he chokes out with the breath he’s been holding since Sirius hit the ground. Sirius puts a hand on his shoulder, the one he hit, and shakes his head, eyes dull from the exhaustive panic.
“Don’t you start now.”
Remus can’t begin to think about laughing it off. “Are you in pain anywhere?” He checks the back of Sirius’ head and spine with medical touch he’s observed throughout his life but only ever handled on his own body. He finds no grievous injuries, at least not before Sirius swats him away.
“Get off, you tit.” He holds his wrists together and meets his eyes meaningfully. “I’m fine. Some bruises but I’m fine. Nothing to write church about, alright?”
“Okay,” Remus says, finally feeling the edges of himself again, anchored by the warm hands holding him together.
“I did deserve it, besides,” Sirius says, with a melancholic half smile that’s just as infuriating as all his smugness from before. Remus pushes his hands off and stands.
“Like hell you do,” he says. Sirius blinks. “You don’t actually believe that crap, do you?”
“Remus,” he laughs -laughs- nervously. “C’mon, you’re allowed to be angry.”
“No, I’m not just going to sit here and.” He takes a shaky breath to collect himself and promptly sits down to level their height. “I am angry. At you, for what you said.” Sirius shifts his legs to sit criss-cross. Their knees brush before Sirius pulls him further in. “But I’m bloody furious at your mum and dad for making you think me shoving you on the floor was in any way right.” Sirius winces.
“I’m alright, really,” he assures, but Remus shakes his head.
“It never should’ve happened. I’m sorry about punching you, too. I never should’ve started all that, especially with my…” The remembered chill of hair growing at an impossible rate all down his back runs through his spine. The impact of Sirius’ fist against his shoulder -the other one this time- pulls him right out of it.
“Ow!”
“Would you quit that?” Sirius demands with a look of near hurt. “People get angry, it’s got nothing to do with all that.” He leans back again. “And I’m sorry too, alright? About the cards and the… the thing I said.” Remus nods, rubbing his shoulder. Later, he knows he’ll ruminate on just how visible he is to Sirius, but right now the arm hurts more. The Quidditch has recently really bulked Sirius up, Jesus.
“I get why you said it. It’s just that… sometimes you act like we met each other yesterday. Like we mean nothing to each other except for how entertaining we can be.”
When he looks up, Sirius is frowning. “When do I do that? I don’t think that.”
“Well, it’s just I’ve noticed-” Sirius stands.
“You’re wrong. We’ve been friends for ages, if you feel like you’re being fake that’s on you, not me.”
“I’m not the one being fake here,” Remus says affrontedly.
“Oh yeah?” Sirius says.
“Yeah.” Remus pushes himself to his feet, wincing at the strain it puts on both of his injured shoulders.
“Then tell me how exactly I’ve been weirding you out so much.”
“I didn’t say that.” He frowns and takes a step towards his friend, but he steps back. The arguing is rapidly forming a pressure on his synapses, he’d never even meant to start anything and in his attempt to swerve them away from a cliff’s edge they were rapidly careening towards a roaring waterfall. “Oh my God, look, it’s things like that, alright? Flat out denial of things I can see are happening.” Sirius stares flatly. “Things we…” Remus scratches at the back of his ear, bothered. “Things we both remember,” he finishes softly, daring enough only for darting glances up at Sirius, still as the marble statue that served as their hiding place for many pranks throughout the years. He thinks they’d both quite prefer to be there right now, stifling their laughter, wedged in between cold stone slabs.
“What,” Sirius’ voice catches and he clears his throat. “What things. Remus.”
