My neighbour Rúben | Chapter 4
Author's note: On this chapter there are some things that give away that this story was written a long time ago, like the fact that it says that he is City's captain... Or that he dresses well 😅 P.S. I'm joking, please no one get mad at me 😭

"Did you sleep well, darling? You look tired" grandma asked me the morning after the game.
"It probably was all the excitement from yesterday. She was still buzzing like young people say" grandad laughed.
"I think it was a mix of not being on my own bed and getting out of my comfort zone. I'm not used to it."
Which was a lie. Mostly. I did miss my own bed, the one at my grandparents' house had the worst pillow ever. But if I looked dead and tired, it was because I had stayed up until 2 am reading about Rúben, watching his videos and looking at his photos.
Some would call it stalking. I call it doing research.
I read about his career, watched proper interviews and other videos where he was being silly, finding myself smiling like the idiot I am. I even watched some in Portuguese, the fact that I speak Spanish being very helpful to understand what he was saying. Or at least half of it.
I spent an hour just on his Instagram account, looking at everything he had posted, and especially the posts where he was topless. Like... He couldn't be real. He couldn't have a body like that, it had to be Photoshop. And it wasn't just the abs and the biceps. It also was his back. His legs. Everything. And judging by the photos where he was wearing clothes and the couple of times I had met him, he also knew how to dress and make the most out of that perfect body of his, which was unfair for the rest of the human population, both male and female.
I also spent a lot of time reading fanfic about him. There are so many talented people out there! And horny, which made me feel less alone. Because my dreams... Well. They were similar to the ones I had been having since meeting him for the first time, but now I knew what was under his clothes, and they weren't happening just on the lift or Lucy's house. Now that I knew that he was a freaking professional football player, there were so many new scenarios to explore... And I explored a few last night, like the changing room at the Emirates.
"Darling, are you sure you are alright? Should I take you to the doctor?" grandad said, bringing me back to reality.
"To the doctor? Why?"
"You look... I don't know. Off. And look at your cheeks."
"My cheeks?" I said, touching them. They were feeling very warm.
"Let me take your temperature" grandma said. "I don't want you traveling alone back to Manchester with a fever."
Oh, if only she knew.
I wasn't traveling back to Manchester with a fever. I was actually traveling back to Manchester to meet the cause of my fever. And just the thought of it was making my stomach do funny things, not sure if good or bad ones.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Oh, c'mon!" I said when the shopping bag slipped from my hand as I reached to call for the lift, all its contents slipping on the floor.
"Let me help you with that" a male voice said behind me. No. Not just a male voice. The male voice. Rúben.
"You don't need to, I can manage."
"And I want to help" he said, already picking some things from the floor. "Doesn't Lucy have someone to do the shopping for her?"
"Yes, but that's the weekly shopping. This is different."
"I can tell. I don't see Lucy letting Julia eat so much chocolate and sweets" he chuckled.
"Tonight we are having a movie night, that's why I bought all this. I'm not planning on feeding her just sugar for the whole weekend, I'm not crazy."
"Good to know" Rúben smiled. "What movie are you watching?" he asked while calling for the lift, the shopping bag on his hand.
"Not sure yet. Something from Disney I guess."
"What's your favourite Disney movie?"
"What?"
"Mine is "Aladdin". Love the songs" he said, walking into the lift once the doors had opened.
"I'm not sure about mine" I said, following him. "As a child I loved watching the "Swan Princess", but that isn't Disney."
"I think I've never heard of it before. Is it cartoons?"
"Yep. It is about a princess who is under a spell that turns her into a swan during the day, and at night she goes back into her human self but only if she is on a certain lake and when the moon is shining."
"Do they sing?"
"Oh, yes, they do. They have great songs."
"I'll have to check it out."
"What?" I laughed.
"Don't tell anyone, but I love watching kids' movies."
"Worried your teammates may bully you?" I chuckled as the lift's doors opened at our floor.
"Nah, they already know. By the way, the Emirates was the last place where I expected to see you" Rúben said, walking towards my door.
"Same."
"Lucy hadn't told you?"
"We've never talked about you." Which is true. But mainly because I knew my face would give away that I am very attracted to Rúben. Like, a lot.
"Now that you know... What do you think about it?"
"I don't know" I said, opening the apartment’s door. "It's just a job. A special one, but a job."
"Your opinion about me hasn't changed then?" he asked, following me inside and into the kitchen.
"Why would I change my mind?"
"You know what they say about football players. Just a bunch of idiots that kick a ball, who earn way too much money, who just party and cheat on their wives... Those things."
"I don't know enough about you to judge."
"Then we must do something about that" he said, leaving the shopping bag on the table. "Do you think Julia would mind if I joined you on your movie night?"
"I'm sorry, you want what?"
"It'll be a way to get to know each other a bit better. And I don't have plans tonight, so watching a Disney movie in good company sounds great."
I don't know what happened after that, what I said or did. Probably that yes, that he could come, because I remembered his smile and a "see you tonight." But my brain was stuck on his previous two last sentences.
For some reason, he wanted to get to know me better. Me. And I apparently was good company? He could have said it just about Julia, he clearly adored her. But he wasn't talking about her. We weren't talking about her. So... It was about me, right? I was good company. Did that mean that he was flirting with me? Rúben Dias, Manchester City captain and international player with Portugal, was flirting with me? The piano teacher turned into nanny?
It had been years since a guy had tried to flirt with me, I was very rusty. So maybe he was just being nice and I understood everything wrong. Or maybe not.
Whatever it was, I would be finding out in just a few hours...

fav french media? (films, books, shows, games etc)
OH I LOVE THIS QUESTION THANK YOU SO MUCH 💖
I’m sure I’ll forget a lot of things and smack my own forehead in shame afterwards, but this is what comes to mind right away:
Literature:
Anything ever written by Victor Hugo is a masterpiece. This dude was a terrible human being, but he sure knew how to write, and he contributed to major changes in the social conscience of his contemporaries on many important topics (including but not limited to the death penalty and child labour). To give you a taste, here is my favourite poem ever, which he wrote, because of course he did.
My favourite piece of literature across all categories, though, is and forever will be Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand — the story of a man who convinced himself his unusually long nose makes him monstruous. The concept sounds so silly, I know, but this play is a masterpiece and a wonderful love letter to the French language.
Which brings me to my favourite comic series: De Cape et de Crocs by Alain Ayroles and Jean-Luc Masbou! Basically a twelve-volume-long fix-it fic, disguised as a tribute to French literature. Also, a beautiful bromance.
Visual arts:
Basically everyone in France can quote at least one line from Kaamelott, a comedic (?) series derived from the Arthurian legend. It is so well researched and hilarious — until it isn’t.
I’m sure there’s like, a very obvious movie choice that will come back to me in a minute, but I was raised on Disney and Scooby-Doo, so these are clogging my brain at the moment. Just give it time.
When I was very young, I would watch TV at my grandparents’ and enjoy Les Hydronautes, an animated series about an extraterrestrial explorer documenting the Earth’s marine wildlife in an effort to learn how to better protect her own planet (Aka There Are Many Benefits To Being A Marine Biologist: The Series), as well as C’est pas sorcier, a series of very fun documentaries on a plethora of subjects, from lavender farming to volcanic eruptions.
Obviously, Miraculous gets a place on the list too! 🐞🐈‍⬛
EDIT BECAUSE I FORGOT: Fantomette the animated series! This show is single-handedly responsible for my taste for smart women with amazing hair who ride motorbikes and kick ass. It even had Egytpology as a key part of the plot.
Music:
For me Formidable by Charles Aznavour is a classic, a very cute song, and a great place to start if you want to learn French!
A few other favourites include Fanny Ardant et moi by Vincent Delerm, Le Dîner by Bénabar (extremely funny to listen to while thinking about the Diamonds’ Dance) and J’ai cherché by Amir (This one is… Borderline when it comes to grammar, but cute enough that I grin and bear it. Also, it got us an honourable ranking at the Eurovision a while back, which is rare enough to be celebrated).
ALSO. I complain too much about bad translations and poor writing (see previous bullet point) not to show you kids how it’s done with Je vole from Aladdin (a genius play on words which delves into the two significations of the verb “voler”: to fly or to steal).
Video games:
Long ago, before I discovered the wonderful world of Nintendo, I would wait patiently every month for the new issue of Toboclic. This game had everything: cute animal mascots, stories, mini-games, arts-and-crafts suggestions, catchy songs, interactive documentaries… I’m sure my parents still have the CDs somewhere, but they probably don’t run anymore, which is a shame. I miss my friends.
Thank you so much for the ask, this was so fun to write!
@dragongutsixofficial please do this too so we can compare notes! 👀💖

How To Build A Realistic Magic System
Tumblr media
Whether you’re a five year old watching Disney movies or an adult reading fantasy books, everyone loves magic. It is the heart of fantasy and the favourite trope of many authors. A good magic system should be both visually appealing and work to enhance the mood of a story. But it can be hard to make your own realistic world of magic with so many different types of magic at our disposal.
Unsure how to build a realistic magic system? Here are six things you should consider when creating your magic world!
1. Establish A Type Of Magic
Authors and other creators have spent centuries establishing hundreds of different types of magic. There’s folklore, witches, magical creatures, demons, mythology and so much more. It’s good to create your unique brand of magic when world building, but there are basic facts you need to establish before you jump into your book.
For example, in my WIP The Traitor’s Throne magic only exists in the realm of mages, however, it can be used or stored in every living being from that realm (including trees). The reason it doesn’t exist in the other realms (or the human realm, to be specific) is that there is literally magic in the air of this realm, something that the human realm lacks.
Your readers don’t have to know all of this background information, but it’s important for you to have a clear image of your magic system before you jump into your book.
Here are some questions you should ask yourself when establishing your type of magic:
How do your characters get their magic (genetics, draw it from others, etc.)?
What does your magic look like? Can people see it? If not, why?
Do spells, curses, and charms exist? What about potions?
Can magic be stored in manmade objects? Why or why not?
Is your magic akin to a witch’s or a mage’s?
Does your magic fade with time?
Does your magic exist in animals? What about plants?
Do you need help with how to properly pace your world building facts while writing? Check out my previous blog post today!
2. Create Limitations
Nothing can exist without laws. Not even magic.
Limitations exist to make your writing seem more realistic, but they also help you create adequate boundaries and rules for your book. This can look like a set of laws followed by a society of wizards or a rule book humans need to follow when they summon and use demon magic.
Aladdin couldn’t ask the Genie to kill people or make someone fall in love with him, Harry Potter couldn’t create limitless food for him to eat during the summers, and Percy Jackson couldn’t control the water in a human’s body.
Tell us the dos and don’ts of your world. Establish boundaries. Create a fantasy world that feels like it could be real and maybe even exist alongside our world.
If you are a fantasy author writing a book about a character who accesses magic through another being (a human summoning a demon, etc.) then consider creating some limitations for the summons. Maybe the human can only summon the demon once every week, maybe they can’t ask the demon to interfere with another person’s death (bring someone back to life or kill someone).
Unsure what magical limitations to implement in your WIP? Comment down below for some personal advice!
3. The History Of Your Magic
Everything starts somewhere. Humanity didn’t exist during the big bang theory, fire didn’t exist until humans were made. Everything has a past, so what’s your magic’s history?
Did it always exist in the society your character lives in? Did someone just wake up one day with newfound powers? When was your magic founded? How do your characters know how to use magic? What timeline are they in? What does their fashion, architecture or mode of travel look like?
These might not seem like important questions right now, but you could find yourself wasting precious writing time in the future mulling over how your characters get light during the nighttime. (Lanterns? Candles? Magic balls of light?)
Do you need to create a list of all the monarchs who ruled over your world throughout the past five hundred years? Of course not! But would it be helpful to know who the first monarch was and why they possessed the power and influence needed to govern your world? Yes!
Creating a concrete history can also help you when writing dialogue for your book. Make corny history jokes or comparisons, have your character’s mother dramatically talk about how her child is like a recluse from the dark ages.
4. How Does Your Magic Affect Your World
One of the most important things to establish when creating a magic system is how it affects your world. Do mythical creatures exist because of the magic? What about another world? Or another species?
You need to create a concrete setting for your book to take place in, and establish how the living beings of your world are affected by this setting. Do the trees have black trunks in your world of demons? Do pixies exist in your world of elves?
Creating a fantasy world is only the first step, you also need to establish how this world affects the species and characters in your world.
5. Don’t Forget The Humans!
One of the reasons books like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson got so popular is because they gave us an excuse to believe magic was real. Maybe magic really exists but we’re just muggles who can’t see Hogwarts. Maybe the Greek gods were real all along but we can’t interact with them because we aren’t demigods.
Give your readers that childlike sense of hope that makes them believe in magic. Make them think they might be able to meet your characters one day, if only they discovered a door to your magic school or stumbled upon a demigod in action.
This can be easy for fantasy authors writing about a human who accidentally ends up in a fantasy world, but if you’re an author writing about non-human characters (like me) then here are some ways you can establish the presence of humans in your book:
Humans exist, but they live in another realm/world or don’t know how to access your character’s world (the gate to the underworld in PJO).
Humans can access your world, but the area your character lives in is surrounded by a natural body (an ocean, a forest, etc.) that humans always get lost in. Or maybe they forget their memories when they travel in it.
Humans don’t exist, but they did centuries ago. Your character’s species had a big war against humans and they killed them all. (Or maybe they just thought they did).
Do you need help with how to properly pace your world building facts while writing? Check out my previous blog post today!
6. Sanderson’s Laws For Magic
Still unclear on how to establish a proper magic system? Consider looking into Sanderson’s Laws for Magic.
If you’re a fantasy author you’ve probably already stumbled upon some variation of his laws during your worldbuilding research, but I would advise looking at Sanderson’s blog and reading his original rundown of what the laws are all about.
In their simplest forms, Sanderson’s laws of magic are:
Law One: An author’s ability to solve conflict with magic is DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL to how well the reader understands said magic.
Law Two: Limitations > Powers.
Law Three: Expand what you already have before you add something new.
I hope this blog on how to build a magic system will help you in your writing journey. Be sure to comment your favourite writing tools to help your fellow authors prosper.

Yuu with the Disney Princes
I always talk about how Yuu is considered an honorary Disney Princess and how they invite her to their princess get-togethers since she’s one of them but I just love the dynamic Yuu has with the princes (mainly because right now I have a Disney prince brainrot, where I’m constantly remembering how much I love them) where all of them are her very loving, protective, chaotic older brother figures.
Their entire relationship is just:
Yuu: *gets a paper cut*
Princes: HASN’T SHE BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH?!?!
Also that Modern Family scene where Lily gets locked in the car and Mitch is calmly trying to figure out how to help her whilst Cam is ready to break her out by slamming a metal bin onto the window whilst screaming. Yeah, 50% are the calm, gentle mentor-like older brothers who will always be there to guide Yuu and the rest are the chaotic brothers who see a possible threat near Yuu and it’s act first think second.
Eugene, Aladdin and Naveen are planning a heist with Naveen as the getaway driver and Aladdin and Naveen breaking into a heavily guarded place just for the fun of it. Like, they would literally just break into a museum just to steal the guard’s pen or something. They’re chaotic like that. They remind Yuu of Ace and Deuce and so she’s helping them. Not with the actual thievery but with the strategies like how Ned is Peter Parker’s ‘guy in the chair’
Yuu: But won’t you get in trouble?
Aladdin: Trouble? Ha! You’re only in trouble if you get caught.
Eugene: Exactly! *fingerguns*
Naveen: *Already in the driver’s seat* Guys, can we go soon? I want to get milkshakes on the way back.
They have literally broken into a zoo and park just to cheer her up
Phillip (the first man I ever fancied), Eric, Charming/Henry and Hercules teach her sword fighting. Like, yeah, they know that Mulan and Merida are overseeing her self-defense training but there’s no harm in some extra teachers. Princes Phillip and Charming have been sparing partners and best friends for years so they work wonderfully together. Of course, one simple sword fighting lesson ends up as a fight to the death with the princes and Yuu rallying around and cheering for a victor.
Speaking of fighting, sometimes Aladdin and Hercules reignite their rivalry from Hercules and the Arabian Nights (even though they are literally best friends) and start smack talking each other (half of the time it’s because of the Kalimyuu vs Idiayuu ship war). The other princes are watching with rapt interest and Yuu doesn’t know if she should break them up or join them.
Yuu loves hearing about all of their adventures - especially when they get all grand and epic with their narrations.
The Aladdin series was my favourite Disney animated movie tv show so I’d imagine that after his adventures, he’d bring back a trophy to show Yuu. Yuu very much dislikes Mozenrath and Abysmal. She and Abu are cool. Abu is protective of her the same way Aladdin is and he’s more than happy to prank anyone that wrongs her. She covers for him when she knows he’s off causing trouble and always has a snack on hand to give him.
RACES! Horseback/reindeerback/carpet/chariot/pegasus/foot races happen all the time and Yuu referees.
Hercules insists that Yuu rides on Pegasus
This always leads to an argument with Aladdin on whether or not magic carpets or flying horses/chariots are better. And no, this has nothing to do with the fact that Kalim owns a magic carpet and the Shroud brothers have a chariot
Hercules and Shang try to get Yuu more interested in training/working out. Whether or not she’ll join them is up to you.
There’s always going to be chaos when the princes meet up and the only ones keeping to themselves in the corner is Beast/Adam with a book and Simba who’s just sitting there and judging everyone.
As a bookworm myself, I would totally start a book club with Disney characters like Belle and Rapunzel (and maybe Ratigan) and Adam is definitely a member of said book club.
Simba and Yuu are cute. He can tell that she’s a genuinely nice person and his protective instincts flare when she’s around. He’s definitely a teasing, cheeky sort of older brother who likes to harmlessly poke fun but he’s one of the first to act if Yuu’s in any danger. He definitely melts whenever Yuu and Kiara play together. (He also loves watching Yuu interact with Cheka. It warms him)
By the way, Zazu and Cogsworth are in the background just sitting next to each other in silent solidarity. They get each other.
I’ve read headcanons that they all like to play DnD together and I love that and would expand more but I have no idea how DnD works so I’m just going to put it here.
This bullet point is going to be a bit of a rant/vent so feel free to skip it. I see a lot of Prince Florian hate/slander and whilst I understand it (he has no personality, he’s only in the movie for like five minutes and he kisses a sleeping girl) I can never get on that band wagon. I can go on about how I feel about him and how I think the hatred towards him is unfair but this is a wholesome post about Yuu bonding with Disney characters so I’ll keep it as short and sweet as possible.
I don’t think Florian is supposed to be a character. I feel like he’s less of a person and more of a symbol of Snow White’s freedom and happily ever after. Like Cinderella’s Prince Charming, he literally only exists to give Snow White a happy ending after living as a maid under her stepmother who literally tried to kill her. Snow wishes for her true love to find her and say nice things to her and he just appears and serenades her. She wants a happily ever after with a with quote ‘the one I (she) love(s)’ unquote and she gets it. See, this isn’t a logical movie, it’s an emotional one. You aren’t supposed to think, you’re supposed to feel. There’s no deep message and no one goes through a character arc (except for maybe Grumpy). Every single scene is just supposed bring about an emotion: fear when you enter the forest, anticipation when the dwarves find out about the queen, sadness at Snow White’s funeral, happiness when she wakes up, etc. You aren’t supposed to question anything, you just take the fairytale at face value. And at face value, Snow White’s romance with Florian is very poetic with the flowers and the doves and it just screams young, innocent love
Yeah, they could’ve fleshed him out or given him a backstory but Snow White wasn’t just Disney’s first animated movie but also the world’s first feature length coloured animated film. Walt Disney knew that it was a huge risk to make it and the film industry weren’t just skeptical, they thought that he was going to fail. The company had to make do with what they had and they were on the brink of bankruptcy - Walt himself had some serious financial trouble during the film’s production. There were scenes that they wanted to add (like a scene where Snow White teaches the dwarves how to drink soup or the dwarves wanting to make her a more comfortable bed) but had to cut down. He was also really hard to animate so other scenes they wanted to make with him (like where the queen traps him in his dungeon and Snow’s animal friends rescue him so that he can save her) weren’t actually possible. That’s why Phillip is much more of an action hero compared to Florian - the animators had gotten better at animating heroic male characters.
Also, it’s kind of implied that like Cinderella, since she was treated like a servant and dressed in rags, she never would have been able to see the outside world. Queen Grimhilde orders a huntsman to kill her and rip out her heart after watching one guy fall in love with her (and yeah, the mirror also said that she was fairer but her anger visibly flares at watching Florian and Snow’s exchange she already felt threatened by Snow which is why she wears ugly clothes and does the cleaning), there’s no way she would’ve allowed her outside the castle where more people could see her beauty.
Yeah, no one should kiss an unconscious person without their consent but it’s literally not Florian’s fault that the actual source material of Snow White has true love’s kiss as the way to wake Snow up. To take away ‘true love’s kiss’ is like taking away the huntsman or the apple - the story just won’t be the same. And sure, Disney has a habit of changing stories *coughs*TheLittleMermaid*coughs*BeautyandtheBeast*coughs*TheFrogPrince* to make them more family friendly/entertaining (because what little girl in the 1950s would want to see Lady Tremaine mutilate her daughters by chopping their toes/heels off?) but Walt loved Snow White and since this was his first feature length film so why change a simple, well-known, harmless classic? I mean Disney was already changing the original story by getting rid of the Queen’s other two murder attempts before the apple (I don’t really know why but I think it was to make her seem less stupid). And now I’ve realised I’ve written too much so I’m going to stop now.
(Also where did this whole age gap thing come from? I don’t know where the rumours about Florian being in his thirties come from but the official book ‘The Art of Walt Disney’ states that the animators intended for him to be 18. And I don’t know for sure if Snow is actually officially 14 but interviews have said that she’s a teenager so 13/14 would be the youngest possible age she could possibly be)
tldr: I’m tired of seeing Prince Florian hate/slander. Snow White is my favourite Disney Princess so I’m giving her a happily ever after with a very loving husband because she deserves it. Disney may not have given him a personality but I will
So Prince Florian is a hopeless romantic, much like his wife. Think love letters and poetry and horseback rides and bouquets of flowers. He likes singing so I peg him as a musician that enjoys writing love songs for Snow. He carries around a little dagger so I’m going to assume he’s into crafts like whittling.
Eric teaches Yuu everything he knows about sailing.
Max, Abu, Sven, Samson, Pegasus and all of the other animal companions like to hang around with Yuu. Yuu loves to shower them in affection that they are more than happy to soak in.
No one tell Prince Phillip but Yuu sneaks Samson extra carrots even after Phillip forbade them
Kuzco doesn’t usually go to the Prince meet ups since he prefers to hang out with the princesses but he does appear if he hears Yuu is coming.
All he does is sit there and look pretty but he’s an icon and we are here for that.
Prank wars. Prank wars all the time. Yuu is never a target since she’s always neutral and no amount of bribes will cause her to pick a side. She will cover for anyone who asks (she’s not very good at covering though)
They do treat her like a young child at times though but she knows they all mean well.
Every hour, they take a break from what they’re doing to spend at least two hours sitting in a circle, bragging about how awesome their wives are and how much they love them. Not that they don’t spend every single second of the day praising their wives. It’s just that they are addicted to ‘I love my wife juice’ so they make sure to take a juice break. To stay healthy.
That’s all I got for now

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍
Tumblr media
Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉
To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.
This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!
Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.
With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
Please, please do check it out on Instagram too:

Official Disney Princes Jobs and Hobbies - my headcanons
I saw posts rotating on Tumblr about Disney princesses's possible hobbies, favourite things and even jobs, but as far as I love Disney heroines, and some of them, like Elsa, Anna, Belle and Rapunzel are my comfort characters, I've rarely see any content or group headcanons towards the Disney heroes and official princes, like Eugene, Naveen, Adam, or even Hans, which I really love, even more than the princesses sometimes T_T
Disney heroes are overly underrated, but they are important as well in the heroines's stories, they are relatable, funny, and often tragic, so likeable, and without them Disney princesses wouldn't have their happy endings, so I think Disney princes and heroes are vaild in Disneyverse as well as female main heroines.
And there are my headcanons of the Disney heroes's hobbies and possible jobs, because I think, they must have one as a relatable and fully developed characters ^^ :
Florian (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) - His hobby, partially shown in canon, is definetely singing. He does it with Snow, at the beginning and the end, and it's good at it, which is overly seen in the movie (in Polish dubbing he is even voiced by Eugeniusz Bodo, famous Polish actor and singer). I have the headcanon that Florian, after the marriage with Snow, started to be fascinated with diamond carving, and even if he is much taller than dwarves we know, and maybe others in canon, he does so much to the mine, in the breaks of his king job and royal status, and even carves a diamond that later is considered heritage treasure in the kingdom.
Henry (Cinderella) - As we see in canon, he is good at dancing and singing, horseback and chivalry, and I think that are good hobbies, so I don't have much headcanons to his jobs or hobbies beside being a prince/future king.
Philip (Sleeping Beauty) - In canon we see, that he loves to sing and dance, but I have a headcanon, that he helps people in the kingdom doing their chores and duties, and as we see in direct to video movie "Enchanted Tales", he travels to the kingdom in royal needs. I think, similiar to Eric, Philip loves to travel across the lands, but in the other case, he needs more time to adjust to new place, and visits kingdoms in more political needs.
Eric (The Little Mermaid) - We see his gorgeous hobbies in canon, travelling and flute playing, so I think I couldn't add more - he is perfect as he is! ^^
Adam/The Beast (Beauty and The Beast) - Through his redemption arc in canon, we see more of his mental development, than actual hobbies, but I think Belle definetely gave him passion to read, and he spends a lot of time in library enjoying books like a little kid, since he never read them before, and what's the cutest to me, because Adam never had an good experience with his parents and adults as a child (In live action movie canon his mother died, and father stayed cold to him, and in the animated movie canon they did not appear at all), I think Beast could spend a lot of time with the children in Belle's town, that they often visit, playing with them for hours, and reading them books ^^
Aladdin - I think his passion would be painting, because we don't hav any Disney princes who paint, so I think Aladdin, as the first Disney male protagonist, would easily have an unique hobby. I imagine him painting the panorama of Agrabah, and later presenting it to Jasmine, not sure that she will like it or not, but she's always appreciating his work and effort ^^
John Smith (Pocahontas) : I think his passion are definetely travels (Yes, I stick to my headcanon about John and Pocahontas meeting after original movie, not counting that awful sequel), and after he's back in Virginia, with a memory loss after accident at the end of the movie, Pocahontas tries to show him beauty of life again, and recover his memories with her, and they later travel for a romantic kanoe ride around the Riverbend, that lets John remember his past again T_T
Shang (Mulan) - His hobby and job in canon is being a soldier and figthing, and I think that's good, but I imagine him also being a flowerer, and having special bond with Mulan's mother, who also loves flowers, and is his mentor in planting, and Shang lets himself enjoy his soft side of personality, and plant the flowers, even in the rain (as parallel to 'flower grows in adversity' quote from the canon movie) ^^
Naveen (Princess and The Frog) - In canon we see he likes to play mandoline, but I think after the marriage with Tiana, he learned to cook, with her advice, and later became one of the best cooks not only in New Orleans, but also in Maldonia and the other kingdoms, and this is a hobby, that he never expected he would enjoy ^^
Eugene (Tangled) - I think, despite we have not seen his hobbies in canon, he is good at singing, despite he doesn't want to admit it, and after he becames Rapunzel's wife and King of Corona (I do not count the series, because i'm not fan of it), he starts to do sports and chivalry, that he discovers he really enjoys.
Kristoff (Frozen) - According to my friend @lexihowardkinnie idea, after being raised by trolls, Kristoff could have alchemy/crystal magic abilities, like creating them and giving them magical powers, and in canon, we also see his hobby and job are ice harvesting and playing lute (I'm not counting Frozen 2, because I'm also not fan of it), which I think they are also good hobbies.
Hans (Frozen) - OMG, because he is one of my fav Disney princes (alongside with Adam, Naveen and Eugene), and even my fav Disney prince, I have so much jobs and hobbies for him, that are worthy their own post ^^ But I think, Hans would find in any job, that could give him enough freedom and satisfy him, especially if it could be creative one, like writer or poet, and I think having no job at all, only travelling across the world free and happy, would also satisfy him T_T I just really want him happy in canon, and that's why I have so much headcanon jobs and hobbies for him ^^
(Stay tuned for part 2, with unofficial Disney Princes and heroes ^^)

The live action Aladdin was not that bad you guys are just mean
Yeah yeah I know it was a meme to clown on it but it was a good movie!!! Unlike a lot of live action Disney remakes it had its own charm that made it at least different from the original (though not better because you can’t beat the OG). Will Smith was a good genie and I’m glad he put his own spin on it instead of trying to copy Robin Williams. The music was actually really good especially Arabian Nights. Speechless could have been done better plot wise but overall it was a good song!! IT WASNT A BAD MOVIE!!!!
If I had one wish, I'd probably ask for sharper canines. I just think it would be nice if my smile was little more threatening.
Anyway, propaganda is always encouraged!
And remember to reblog your favourite polls for exposure!

Patching holes in Descendants lore - the origins of Auradon
I think we all agree that the Disney movies didn’t and couldn’t have happened all in the same era and are based in different areas (although it’s hard to dermine which ones in some cases, like Agrabah or the mix-and-match that is Kumandra), not to mention the multiple iteration of places like, say, London.
How to explain this in canon? I have a few theories, based on actual Disney events, feel free to pick one:
Cinderella 3: when Lady Tremaine used the wand to reverse time, she messed with time-space, which led to a mixup of worlds.
Sophia the First: when the amulet of Avalor was broken and Elena was freed, all the energy it used to channel the princesses so Sophia could meet them released and messed up the world, so everything merged in a single time.
Disenchanted: when Giselle’s wish died down it still had some aftereffects on all the fairytales’ worlds, copying the technology from our world but also pulling places distant in time and space all together (this is possibly my favourite theory).
Theory 1 makes a lot of sense, tbh, because it erases all the sequels except, in fact, Cinderella 3, while being a clean-cut explanation. It, unfortunately, doesn’t explain the technological advancement that is wildly beyond any Disney canon (save for Big Hero 6, but BH6 is even forth so that doesn’t work either). This could also explain why such a severe sentence was picked for Lady Tremaine (she stole the wand, petrified Fairy Godmother, broke important laws of magic, tricked the royals...), although it doesn’t work for Anastasia who, instead, redeemed herself a lot in that very movie.
The Sophia world is the only one that implies all the stories happened for real in the same world as she has Merlin, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather as teachers; (provided they’re immortal or nearly so, meaning they could have outlived their charges and went on teaching new generations of young royals) and references directly to the official princesses up to the 2018 lineup. But Sophia’s world has lots and lots of other kingdoms and it would poise logistic problems in storytelling because it’s hard to make it all fit (but if you know the series well, unlike me, you can make it work).
Personally, I’d go with Disenchanted: Andalasia was a fairytale world with unknown neighbours (to us, but Giselle heard of dwarves’ hospitality and other stuff...), separated by magic borders or just too distant from each other, some of those could be homes of stories from roughly the same era (I suppose we can consider Rapunzel and Frozen as a pair, the Little Mermaid could fit in the same times as Cinderella, while Snow White, Aladdin, Mulan and Sleeping Beauty belong to an older era, Pochaontas and Princess and the Frog must be of different eras, and so on...). The wish pulled everything together and they all had to navigate the situation from there on, inheriting the technology from our world but keeping the original stories.
Most importantly, in all cases, it pulled back the dead Villains. Or it pulled some and those ones figured out they could revive others to form an army to control the new world. Anyway, here’s the origins of Auradon as a composite land.
In another post I put together the info we have on other matters (excluding, for obvious reasons, Pocketwatch, which can’t and won’t be considered canon) such as the beginning of Auradon Prep or the supposed war against the Villains so I won’t repeat it all here.
As far as this post goes, I suppose we can say that this explains many of the plot holes and incongruencies, including the mention of Merida having been an Auradon Prep student in the last book.

narnia headcanons part two!
You ask and I shall deliver! ...several months late. Part 1
— Peter would totally be that kind of freak who loves mornings. He’s just the biggest morning person, gets up early, other weird shit etc. Edmund is an evening/night person, and (rightfully) calls Peter crazy for being so happy and energised in the mornings. Lucy and Susan are just normal.
— They’re all amazingly really good at cooking but Peter is the best.
— Lucy is the BIGGEST musical theatre fan. Ever since her dad took her to see one for her 8th birthday she’s been obsessed with them. She has a pretty good voice and has been in every musical production at her school, though she’s never played the lead, but this is by choice. She much prefers playing secondary characters. Of course her siblings have come and seen every single one.
— Now, for a way more silly one: I’ve gone on record several times before saying that Peter is a slut, and I stand by this. Some people seem to think that this is impossible since he’d 100% be such a gentleman, but those things aren’t mutually exclusive. You can have sex with loads of people and be totally respectful to all of them. What seemingly does contradict this, however, is that I’ve also said before that Peter is a hopeless romantic, but I actually think it feeds into each other pretty nicely. I see Peter as the kind of person that would constantly rush into new relationships, but because he’s more in love with the idea of love than the actual person, they inevitably don’t last very long at all. This actually makes sense with the slut part because psychologically, having sex with someone early in the relationship makes you think that you’re more in love than you actually are. This is why I think, that for Peter to be able to find a relationship that actually lasts, which is what he wants, the love needs to grow over time with a person he initially didn’t see in that way. Maybe this is just me and my obsession with love that comes from unexpected places though.
— Already covered this but Edmund is def a closeted swiftie. Lucy is also a swiftie and she knows this, causing endless teasing but he still always denies it. Susan will listen to her occasionally. Peter never got into her music but one day he listened to Never Grow Up and cried for five hours straight. Eustace absolutely hates taylor swift.
— Ever thought about what the Pevensies’ favourite Disney movies would be? Well I have. Edmund’s favourite is Mulan, obviously. Reflection IS an Edmund song, I will not take any criticism on this. Also he definitely had a crush on bisexual legend Lee Chang, cause why wouldn’t he? Peter’s favourite is Aladdin. I have no other reason for thinking this other than vibes. Susan’s favourite is The Little Mermaid, and Lucy has a mental break down every time someone asks her to pick her favourite Disney movie.
Not as many this time but I’ll probably still add more lol

so @tragically-jane-doe made a post the other day that constance drags the choir to watch starkid musicals. as a result, here’s the st cassian’s chamber choir’s favourite starkid musicals!!!
ricky: so first off, they love that the company name is “starkid” like?? yes please?? but anyway, their favourite is pretty obviously starship!! exhibit a, space puppets. exhibit b, it’s basically bee movie and richard potts is always a slut for the bee movie. exhibit c, kick it up a notch and the reprise. granted, they mostly prefer the music of a very potted musical, but story matters most to them, bringing them to favour starship.
ocean: trail to oregon. i know this sounds like bullshit but hear me out!! ocean doesn’t share a lot of the choir’s cultural hive mind. she never read harry potter or watched aladdin (until the choir forced her to, but they watched twisted as a group *then* aladdin bc constance always assumed ocean had seen disney movies). and ocean is Not a horror gal (also black friday is too anti-capitalist for her in pre-canon at the very least). but trail to oregon is somewhat historical, barely but it’s there, and she did play the oregon trail video game on the shitty library computer. this is the first time she understood references to something rooted in nostalgia and it made her feel normal. she’s also jealous of the family dynamic - everything else she’s seen is too perfect for her to even wish for, but the family in trail to oregon is messy but they still care for each other. ocean wants that. she understands a maternal viewpoint for the first time in her life. granted, the poop jokes are a bit much for her, but the most egregious parts are in a separate video so she just finishes it when you choose who has dysentery.
mischa: black friday. anti-capitalist horror. next.
noel: twisted. twisted is literally The Drama. noel doesn't just care about comedy, he loves how deeply tragic it is (like if you've seen twisted, you Know). also noel was totally a disney kid so the references here really hit for him.
penny: the guy who didn't like musicals. it's so quotable and chaotic and it has horror elements. that bit where (spoilers btw) gary and stu pull out hidgens' stomach and he says "no not my tummy" is the biggest penny energy i've ever seen. also, hive mind means lack of identity. you know who else lost her identity? penny lamb aka jane doe. in addition, being controlled via music is literally what karnak does to them and since she's the one who canonically returns, and in a way it'd be her first memories, she'd connect to it most perhaps. (in all fairness, she also likes me and my dick).
constance: the very potter trilogy, with her favourite being a very potter sequel. i think that it was the first one she discovered and she has a nostalgic connection to it, and she really loves the music. it's the only harry potter media she continues to consume and it really becomes canon in her mind. but honestly, it's very hard for her to choose because she does love all of them!!!

Winnie-The-Pooh Blood and Honey: The Liberating Hidden Message
Tumblr media
Just to make it clear, I am not going to watch the movie, but I still appreciate its hidden message, which is not only intelligent, but it is a wake-up call.
I absolutely adore Winnie the Pooh and even as a little girl, one of my favourite cartoons was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which was made during the time Disney actually still held its work to a high standard. Even the other absolutely adorable live action show Pooh Corner holds up as being sweet, cute and great for kids. To say Disney really did wonders for Winnie the Pooh is an understatement, but the operative word here is “did”. Now, the more modern Winnie the Pooh works do not feel like something out of a child’s imagination anymore which is depressing as that was the whole premise of Winnie the Pooh: he, his friends and the entire world was made up by a boy named Christopher Robin. Speaking of which, I find it disrespectful that the character Christopher Robin was dropped for a long time from the series and was only brought back later in a way that I feel did not honour him at all. At times, I felt like they were making fun of the guy and childhood in general which is sad. It is not just Winnie the Pooh who has fallen from grace either. A lot of modern Disney works lack any love behind them, and it shows because Disney is making new movies and shows way too often. Plus, they are made to please modern audiences instead of the intended audiences. Just look at how Disney+ has a new show or film almost every week. The only pocket that takes its time and it shows because it actually produces amazing work 90% of the time is the Star Wars franchise. Yes, it has flops, but you can count them on your fingers on one hand and even then, their flops tend to try harder than all of Disney’s other pieces as of late which includes the Marvel Universe.
But in the midst of all this, someone decided to come up with this;
Tumblr media
No one would think of making a Winnie the Pooh horror movie, but in its defense, has anyone thought of doing anything with Winnie the Pooh at all instead of waiting for Disney to do something new with it? There is a deep, dark yet liberating message behind this daring film and it is not about the bear;
Disney does not own Winnie the Pooh. Nor does it own Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, The Fox and the Hound, Hercules, Aladdin, Mulan, Robin Hood or any of the princesses from classic literature. All of these pieces are public property meaning anyone is free to adapt them as they wish. The problem is that everyone has been too afraid to try because in the back of our minds, it will never compare to what Disney did.
This fear of touching something that always was free for us to use is crippling us and it is depriving future generations of a chance at seeing a classic tale be reimagined in a way that truly is amazing rather than as another empty cash grab. In other words, the true message behind Winnie-the-Pooh Blood and Honey is: take back our public property.
And believe it or not, when artists did, they made amazing things. The thing is not all of them are in the form of films (though some are). I could even recommend a list. And while they may not be giants like the Disney adaptations, they are worth your time and dare I say, better in some cases. Here are some of the non-Disney adaptations of classic tales I recommend.
Ever After: which is a reimagining of Cinderella that replaces all magic with feminist elements and get this; Leonardo Da Vinci is part of the main cast.
Gepetto: a webcomic adaptation of Pinocchio with a science fiction twist along with all kinds of other twists.
Megan Kearny’s Beauty & the Beast: a webcomic adaptation of the classic tale which takes on a more gothic tone and also explores the trauma behind the Beast’s life story.
Snow White and the Huntsman: a film where Snow White is on equal heroic footing with her “prince” and is a great watch if you love Lord or the Rings or Game of Thrones.
Beauty and the Beast (TV Series): a reimagined version of the classic where “Beauty” is a badass detective and “Beast” is a super-cyborg soldier making the setting more superhero like in all the fun ways.
Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs: a deconstructed version of Snow White where the dwarfs are the ones who actually need saving and it is the first ever version of Snow White to be plus sized.
Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp (1982 anime film): this film follows the original tale almost to the letter with a few differences.
Splash: a reimagining of The Little Mermaid that takes place in the 1980s which also happens to be one Tom Hanks’ best classic movies.
Ponyo: another reimagining of The Little Mermaid except the two main characters are children and it was made by Chibli Studios, so you know it will be high quality.
Penelope: the most unique reimaging of Beauty and the Beast there is because in this case, the titular character is both the Beauty and Beast.
Let us make the list even longer, friends. Let us take back our public property. Let us stop comparing our work to Disney before we have even written it.
EDIT: Demon’s Mirror: I forgot about this one. This is a reimagining of The Snow Queen which is no Frozen. I would classify it as a horror-adventure that does not shy away from body horror, trauma and fates worse than death.

Favorite Disney movies for Tsuna and his guardians please?
Of course, my dear! This is such a cute ask and I enjoyed writing it so I hope you’ll enjoy it as well!
Tsuna watched most of the classic Disney movies growing up, just because Nana is a huge Disney fan and she wanted Tsuna to grow up with the same love of those movies as she has. Oliver & Company and Mary Poppins are probably among the ones he’s watched the most and the ones he enjoys the most.
Gokudera loves all of Disney’s ‘scary’ movies, especially the Disney Channel Original films. He’s such a huge Halloweentown fan and has watched all the movies, and also loves Hocus Pocus, Don’t Look Under the Bed, Mr. Boogedy, and The Haunted Mansion.
Yamamoto actually hasn’t watched a lot of Disney movies. He didn’t watch much television at all growing up and he won’t really see any Disney films until later on in his life, when he’ll watch them just because he’s curious. Disney is such a big thing and he’s wondering why people love them so much. I do think he definitely prefers the non-animated Disney films to the animated ones, enjoying films like Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey and Tomorrowland.
Overall, Ryohei, though he pretends to hate most Disney movies, really does enjoy the more action-packed Disney films. He’d be glued to the television during Mulan (the songs also get very stuck in his head), Brave, Big Hero 6, and Aladdin. When asked to name his favourite Disney movie though, he’d put White Fang at the top of the list.
Lambo really, really, really loves Winnie the Pooh and all the movies having to do with Pooh and his friends. He’ll pretend he doesn’t because of course he’s not interested in baby stuff like that. Lambo’s a grown-up and much too cool for Tigger and his antics. But he’s not moving away from that television if a Winnie the Pooh movie is on, though he might fall asleep in front of it.
Hibari has never, and will never, watched a Disney movie. For one thing, he’s really not a movie and television guy. They just don’t hold his interest in the least and he’d rather read or find more productive uses of his time. For another thing, Disney movies sound incredibly stupid to him, with idealistic views and unrealistic happy endings.
Mukuro honestly doesn’t watch a lot of Disney films. They hold no interest to Mukuro, who also has a lot of issues with just how much control over the entertainment business Disney has. However, I do see him as a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan, though he doesn’t really realize that that is a Disney movie.
Chrome watched a lot of Disney movies when she was young, just because her mother preferred Chrome to be in front of a screen or out of her sight in some way. She really has a soft spot for the Disney princesses and as a kid, she dreamed of someday having her own happily-ever-after like all the princesses had. I feel like, out of all the Disney Princesses, Cinderella was probably her favourite and the one she connected to most.
