I'll just come out and say it: I understand fundamentally that Al Jazeera isn't always going to be the most reliable for coverage of the events and politics Southwest Asia. I understand that, but if the alternative is SINGULARLY Israeli media, you're gonna have to miss me with that.

Conflict is two-sided, but for example, if you're fighting with heavy artillery and tanks as a full military given munitions by all of the major western powers to fight against a militia which has the backing of lesser military powers, I think you have the upper hand. In knowing that Israel has the full backing of the West, Israeli media and perspective are the ONLY point-of-view that we are circulating in mainstream western media as well. Israel is a strategic ally of the West by all accounts. I have seen more Israeli sources than anything else.

I will continue to read and share Al Jazeera knowing that the information might have to be taken with a grain of salt.

غزہ کی لڑائی میں ٹی وی چینل الجزیرہ اسرائیل، امریکا اور اس کے اتحادیوں کے لیے نیا چیلنج بن گیا ہے۔ امریکا کے وزیر خارجہ الجزیرہ کی حقائق سے بھرپور رپورٹنگ سے اتنے خوفزدہ ہیں کہ انھوں نے قطر کی حکومت پر زور دیا ہے کہ الجزیرہ خطہ میں انتشار پھیلا رہا ہے۔ اس بناء پر اس کے خلاف کارروائی کی جائے۔ اسرائیل نے غزہ میں الجزیرہ کے بیورو آفس کو تباہ کر دیا ہے۔ غزہ میں الجزیرہ کے بیورو چیف کے گھر پر حملے میں اس کے خاندان کے افراد جاں بحق ہوئے ہیں ۔ الجزیرہ کے قیام کی کہانی خاصی دلچسپ ہے۔ لندن میں بی بی سی کی عالمی سروس کے فیصلہ ساز ادارہ کے افسروں نے مشرق وسطیٰ کو خصوصی کوریج دینے کے لیے یہ فیصلہ کیا کہ سعودی عرب سے بی بی سی کا عربی چینل شروع کیا جائے، یوں اس چینل کے قیام کے لیے بی بی سی میں کام کرنے والے عربی صحافیوں کو منتخب کیا گیا مگر اس وقت سعودی عرب میں ایک شاہانہ نظام تھا۔ جدہ سے شایع ہونے والے اخبارات اور ٹیلی وژن چینل سعودی حکومت کی ہدایات پر عملدرآمد کرنے کے پابند تھے۔ بی بی سی نے اپنی آزادانہ پالیسی کو تبدیل کرنے پر کسی بھی قسم کے سمجھوتے سے انکار کیا، یوں یہ پروجیکٹ ابتدائی مرحلہ میں بند ہو گیا۔

اس زمانہ میں قطر کے امیر کے سعودی عرب سے تعلقات کشیدہ ہو گئے تھے۔ قطر نے ایران سے تعلقات قائم کر لیے تھے اور سرکاری ملکیت میں 1996 میں الجزیرہ کے عرب چینل کا آغاز ہو گیا۔ جب بی بی سی کا عربی چینل کا پروجیکٹ بند ہوا تو 2006 میں حکومت نے الجزیرہ کا انگریزی ایڈیشن شروع کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا، یوں بی بی سی کے پروجیکٹ سے فارغ ہونے والوں کو الجزیرہ کے انگریزی چینل کو منظم کرنے کا موقع ملا اور دوحہ سے اس کی نشریات شروع ہوئیں۔ یوں مشرقِ وسطیٰ کا پہلا آزاد ٹی وی چینل وجود میں آیا۔ الجزیرہ نے یورپ، امریکا اور مشرقِ وسطیٰ کے تمام ممالک بشمول اسرائیل کے دارالحکومت تل ابیب، اسلام آباد نئی دہلی وغیرہ میں اپنے بیورو آفسز قائم کیے۔ الجزیرہ نے افغانستان اور مشرقِ وسطیٰ کے معاملات پر خصوصی توجہ دی۔ پاکستان کے ایبٹ آباد میں مقیم سعودی منحرف اسامہ بن لادن پر امریکی میرین دستوں کے آپریشن، اسامہ کی ہلاکت، کابل شہر پر امریکا اور اتحادیوں کے حملے جیسے اہم موضوعات پر خصوصی توجہ دی گئی۔ القاعدہ کی سرگرمیوں، القاعدہ کے قائدین کی افغانستان اور پاکستان میں گرفتاریوں کے بارے میں سب سے پہلے الجزیرہ کے رپورٹرز نے دنیا کو آگاہ کیا اور افغانستان میں امریکا اور اتحادیوں کی بمباری نے مساجد اور گھروں میں مقیم افراد کو نشانہ بنایا۔

امریکا اور اتحادی فوج کے تعلقات عامہ کے افسروں نے مرنے والوں کو طالبان دہشت گرد قرار دیا مگر الجزیرہ کی نشریات سے پوری دنیا کو پتہ چلا کہ مرنے والے بے گناہ تھے، یوں امریکی حکومت کو الجزیرہ کی آزادانہ پالیسی پر اعتراضات ہونے لگے۔ الجزیرہ نے اپنے قیام کے بعد سے فلسطینیوں کی جدوجہد کو بہت زیادہ کوریج دی۔ لبنان، اردن، مغربی کنارہ اور غزہ میں حماس اور حزب ﷲ کی کارروائیوں اور اسرائیل میں ان کارروائیوں کے اثرات کے بارے میں الجزیرہ نے معروضی رپورٹنگ کر کے ایسے بہت سے حقائق کو آشکار کیا جن کو مغربی میڈیا Kill کر دیتا تھا، یوں سب سے پہلا اعتراض اسرائیل کو ہوا اور اسرائیل کی حکومت نے تل ابیب میں قائم الجزیرہ کے بیورو کو پہلے ہی بند کر دیا تھا۔ مشرقِ وسطیٰ کے مختلف ممالک میں 2010 میں ایک عوامی جدوجہد شروع ہوئی جس کو Arab Spring کا نام دیا گیا۔ یہ عوامی جدوجہد تیونس سے شروع ہوئی اور مصر اور لیبیا تک پھیل گئی۔ سعودی عرب بھی اس عوامی احتجاج سے محفوظ نہ رہ سکا۔ سعودی عرب میں 2011 میں حکومت مخالف احتجاج ہوئے۔ الجزیرہ نے ان تمام واقعات کو بہت تفصیل سے اپنے ناظرین کے لیے ٹیلی کاسٹ کیا۔

جب سعودی عرب کو بھی الجزیرہ کی نشریات پر اعتراض ہو گیا اور سعودی عرب اور قطر کے درمیان دوبارہ مفاہمت کے لیے بات چیت ہوئی تو سعودی حکومت نے قطر کے سامنے جو مطالبات رکھے تھے ان میں سے ایک یہ تھا کہ الجزیرہ پر پابندی عائد کی جائے۔ قطر کی حکومت نے اس مطالبہ کو نہیں مانا البتہ الجزیرہ کی پالیسی میں کچھ تبدیلی کے رجحانات کی عکاسی نظر آنے لگی۔ جب حماس کے جہادیوں نے اسرائیل پر حملہ کیا اور پھر اسرائیل نے غزہ پر اندھا دھند بم باری شروع کر دی تو اسرائیل نے اس بمباری میں خاص طور پر بچوں کو نشانہ بنایا۔ اسرائیلی فوج نے غزہ میں فرائض انجام دینے والے 16 کے قریب صحافیوں کو قتل کیا۔ گزشتہ ہفتے 17 اکتوبر کو اسرائیل کی فوج نے الحئی اسپتال پر براہِ راست حملہ کیا۔ الحئی اسپتال جس کو دار الشفاء بھی کہا جاتا ہے غزہ کا سب سے بڑا اسپتال ہے۔ اسرائیل کے حملے میں 500 کے قریب مریض جاں بحق ہوئے جن میں بڑی تعداد بچوں کی تھی۔ مرنے والوں میں ڈاکٹر اور پیرا میڈیکل عملہ بھی شامل تھا۔

الجزیرہ نے اس اسپتال پر حملے کو تفصیلی طور پر کور کیا اور اس رپورٹنگ میں واضح شواہد سے ثابت کیا گیا کہ اسرائیل کے راکٹ نے الشفاء اسپتال کو تباہ کیا۔ یہ اسرائیل کی غزہ میں سب سے بڑی کارروائی تھی جس سے پوری دنیا میں اس واقعے پر غم و غصے کی لہر دوڑ گئی۔ سب سے پہلے اسرائیلی میڈیا نے الزام لگایا تھا کہ یہ راکٹ اسرائیل کا نہیں تھا بلکہ یہ راکٹ حماس کے فدائین نے پھینکا تھا۔ مغربی میڈیا نے اس بیانیہ کو نشر کرنا اور شایع کرنا شروع کیا۔ امریکا کے معروف نشریاتی اداروں فوکس اور سی این این وغیرہ نے بھی یہ الزام لگایا کہ اسپتال پر گرنے والا راکٹ اسرائیلی فوج کا نہیں تھا، یہ حماس کا راکٹ تھا۔ امریکا کے صدر جوبائیڈن بھی اسرائیل کے اس پروپیگنڈے کا شکار ہوئے۔ انھوں نے دورہ اسرائیل کے دوران یہ سرٹیفکیٹ جاری کیا کہ الشفاء اسپتال پر حملے میں اسرائیل ملوث نہیں، یوں الجزیرہ کو ایک متعصب چینل قرار دینے کی دوڑ شروع ہو گئی۔

اس واقعے کے بارے میں آزادانہ تحقیقات نیو یارک ٹائمز کے سامنے آنے والی تحقیقاتی رپورٹ میں کیا گیا ہے۔ ان کے ماہرین نے تمام شہادتوں کے جائزے کے بعد حملے کے بارے میں وڈیوز کا بغور جائزہ لیا اور ماہرین نے اپنی رپورٹ میں اسرائیل کے اس دعویٰ کو مسترد کر دیا کہ حماس کے راکٹ سے اسپتال میں تباہی ہوئی۔ نیویارک ٹائمز کی رپورٹ میں تحریر کیا گیا ہے کہ جو وڈیوز ٹیلی کاسٹ کی گئی ہے، اس سے ثابت نہیں ہوتا کہ اسپتال پر گرنے والا میزائل حماس یا اسلامی جہادی گروپوں نے پھینکا تھا۔ اس رپورٹ میں مزید کہا گیا ہے کہ ان وڈیوز کے تجزیے سے ظاہر ہوتا ہے کہ اسرائیل کا یہ دعویٰ غلط ہے کہ یہ راکٹ اسرائیل نے نہیں پھینکا۔ برطانیہ کے نشریاتی ادارے، بی بی سی نے جو تحقیقات کی تھیں ان سے بھی یہی ظاہر ہوتا ہے۔ آزادانہ ذرایع سے اس بات کی تصدیق نہیں ہوئی کہ اسرائیل نے الشفاء اسپتال پر حملہ کے بارے میں وڈیوز پیش کی ہیں ان کی تصدیق نہیں ہوتی۔ الجزیرہ مسلسل دباؤ میں ہے۔ مشرقِ وسطیٰ جہاں بیشتر ممالک میں اس وقت بادشاہتیں ہیں، کچھ ممالک میں شخصی آمریتیں اور کچھ میں فوجی حکومتیں ہیں اس ماحول میں الجزیرہ کا ایک کامیاب تجربہ ہے۔ الجزیرہ کے اس آزادانہ کردار کو اگر باقی ممالک بھی اپنا لیں تو اسرائیل اور مغربی پروپیگنڈے کا جواب دیا جا سکتا ہے۔

At least 190 people killed and 340 wounded in Gaza over the last 24 hours.

Dozens reported killed in the besieged southern city of Khan Younis as Israeli forces target hospitals, ambulances, and schools where thousands of civilians are sheltering.

Hello world, reaching to everyone is one of the members of the queer refugees community from Kenya Kakuma refugee camp. Life has never been good since we came to the camp years ago in 2019 and 2020. Although life is hard, lgbtiqa refugees have continuously joined us in the camp in the latest years leading to a bigger number of lgbt refugees in Kenya.

The camp has over 200,000 total number of refugees with just about 1300 lgbtiqa+ refugees. Its just a smaller ratio of lgbtiqa regugees facing persevution from the bigger number of other refugees.

Most of us have fled from Uganda where things turned out to be hard on queer people including death and imprisonment of lgbtiqa people. I call upon everyone tk help and support the the fellow queer people surbive through this trauma. You can’t imagine we have lost friends through death due to homophobia. One of us who was killed badly by setting fire on them did noy live for a month later. When we rushed them to hospital, doctors knew was trans and so devided to delay him and later died. We please need everyone to help. Even contacting UNHCR can help.

At least 20 killed and 150 wounded as Israeli tanks fire shells and live rounds at people in northern Gaza City who lined up to receive much-needed humanitarian supplies, health officials say.
