can I just start with how funny it is that blaine's personality changed from well blaine to darren? Like at first he's this smooth talker suave handsome guy and then he's just... a dude? I know it's talked about a lot but it is just THAT funny.

Rewatching season 5 rn and honest to god I didn't remember a single plot point from this season. And rightly so it's so chaotic (as is most glee) I know they stopped caring at this point lmao. Like what's up with artie doing 3 girls at once?? And blaine's jealous of kurt cause he's getting muscular?? And RACHEL LEAVES FUNNY GIRL??? Like what is even happening.

Also remembering things i forgot on my rewatch: the twerking episode has a plot. I totally forgot that I always thought of it as just the twerking epsiode and while i was watching it I was like "oh it actually has kinda good plot"

This is all I can remember rn, my memory's kinda bad. Would love to hear your stuff. Especially why you ship Quartie, i never even thought of it lol

Very true! Especially compared s2!blaine to s4!blaine, it’s like a whole ‘nother level. Even before in s2, there were hints there with his romantic gesture to the gap guy, but later on, he started to get less “classy” to say the least haha.

Season 5 is actually where I stopped. Exactly at the 20th ep. It’s very weird. And the stuff with Blaine, I feel like seeing Kurt in his footing made him insecure (not that he wasn’t already but you get it). While I don’t like how he handled it and the way he acted, I can relate to feeling insecure and being a little jealous of even the closest people around me.

And the Artie plot was so funny to watch. I did really like him with Kitty tho so rip to them.

Rachel leaving Funny Girl especially is ridiculous. Her whole arc was getting into Broadway and being a star. And then fast forward to season 6 and apparently she left for a goddamn tv show and is stuck in Lima like wtf. Anyways, S1 & S4 Rachel was superior all I’ve gotta say.

The twerking one was also so icky. Like no teacher in real life would be condoning this. Not to mention, last I checked, didn’t Schue twerk on those minors??? I can’t believe I’m actually siding with Sue here but…

As for why I ship Quartie, I actually didn’t ship them when I first watched but I loved their dynamic. Seeing @thomas-the-goat-of-satan and other tumblr users talking about them made me love Quartie more.

I just love how happy Quinn was around Artie. Probably the happiest she ever was around a man lmao. And I love how they both bond when Quinn was paralyzed and the way Artie seemed to challenge her.

Also I’m Still Standing totally fucks.

they missed soo much opportunities for jokes that would fit the animated show's style perfectly it's SAD honestly. i mean its probably the vibe there were going for but all the dialogue is so rushed and straight forward damn. my boy is acting like a power ranger villain really

the ending actually made me so sad I avoided reading through it again rn for this post. It also feeds into my intrusive thoughts soo thanks for that 😵‍💫😵‍💫❤️‍🔥

like just take a look at that ending and tell me the writers DIDN'T hate the little man. what did he do to YOU ☹️

imo he's very much intentionally portrayed as pathetic and laughable here and that's just SAD and UNFAIR. my boy is pathetic in a funny kinda way not in a let's FEAST upon his DEFEAT😈😈 kinda way. almost like the writers forgot everybody's rooting for him

and the latest chapter w hoonie getting jealous over fuma had me SCREAMINGGGG it was so fun and lighthearted (i wish all men acted like that instead of literally getting mad and never speaking to u ever again) but it could also be because of their dynamic (which i love so much) you truly created one of the best pieces of e2l and this is saying a lot considering i’ve read a LOT of pieces of e2l

hope you prioritize how you feel considering your latest posts bc i understand as readers in a wip we may feel to give suggestions but at the end of the day we’re readers and you’re the WRITER this is ur smau (great smau btw!!) and you should only write what YOU want to write

you’ve already given us so much from staying up late to finish the chapters, and the additional headcannons and this is without getting to the real story (where we discover why they fell out in the first place) and i think ppl need to realize that you have a plan to your story and to request or make suggestions can alter that :(

I will only talk about some of them here because there is a lot so don't worry about the angsty ones 😊.

Mingo AU:

So this one I already talk about it on my account so for more details just look on the #mingo au , but in general it's an AU were the fnaf world and pokemon world start to merge together and accidentally fused Ingo and Michael afton creating Mingo.

Wandering Spider AU:

I also explained this one in #Wandering Spider au, technically Peter Parker aka Spider-man is taken by Giratina after No Way Home so he can have a seconde chance and get a new father figuer Ingo. He arrived before Akari, and is part of the Pearl clan because he is under the care f Ingo. He can remember names of people and there personal link to him but not there faces and he also know that not only that he is in a different time periods but in a whole different univers. His shiny alpha rotom named Tony is literally Tony Stark because when Giratina took Peter he literally threatened it to take him with them to make sure Peter is safe (imagine is surprise when he wake up as a rotom but no Peter in sight).

Multivers subway AU:

Again I talk about this one really fast already but some changes have been done to it. This au is base of one of my OC univers that I call "The Hub", this place is were everyone of my other universes can geet together, it's a big city with in the middle there is a gigantic Hotel called "The Twin Hotel" and by the twin gods of judgment Tokki and Boss. The submas twin have been blessed (with other) by the two gods and work in the subway system of the city. The subway can take you to any OC veres or universes in general, each Sundays Ingo and Emmet have to go to the Hotel to give there report of the week and just rest with others. In the Hub angel's and demon's a commun and there is a hierarchie, Lower's being the most commun one, Middle's are bigger and mostly work at the top (Manager, CEO...), Upper's are blessed Middle's or Lower's and work under God's, Ingo and Emmet are Upper's Ingo being an Upper Angel and Emmet an Upper Demon, and finally God's who are literally borne with the title or chosen by the Creatric (me), There is only 8 Gods in total, Tokki and Boss being one of them. Angels can only blessed angels and demons can only blessed demons so while Ingo work under Boss he has technically being bless by Tokki and the same for Emmet who has being blessed by Bosse work under Tokki. Funfact there is a Lower demon named Blackara that is extremely fan of Ingo and tries everything to get his attention with no conclusive result.

Zoroark/Sneasler ingo AU:

Ah finally an au I didn't talk about on tumblr. So this one (has many other) came from one of my weird ass dreams that I have most of the time but anyways, technically in this au something happen to Ingo in the rift wich cause his body to became unstable and Ditto like so when he fell his body transform the two first thing he saw, being Lady Sneasler chasing away a Zoroark that got to close to her territory, becoming a sort of Zoroark/Sneasler hybrid. He got taken in by Lady Sneasler who find him because even with him being part Zoroark he was also par Sneasler and acte like a kit. He is Ghost/Poison type by the way and can used illusion to look like his human self.

Toy AU:

This is like Toy story because it's one of my favorite movies, so in this Ingo and Emmet are two small ball jointed doll who come with a set of trains toys has the conductors. Their is a white set (Emmet) and a black set (Ingo) and you can exchange trains part in between the two set. The twin have being by a young girl named Dawn and were given their names, when Dawn was hat school the two meet her other toys, they rapidly became best friend with a fashion doll named Elesa. This au is mostly fun and light-hearted with the only drama his Dawn taking the twins to school and accidentally lost Ingo till the end of the day when an adult found him and got him back to a crying Dawn.

Ghost crow AU:

So this one is a bit easy. During is life in Huisi Ingo died in an accident protecting some travelers but don't worry because his soul wouldn't rest and so came back in a new form. This form is a crow that is the size of a Corveknight, his wings and tails are fabric like and resemble his coat and he still has his hat, his has open scar on his neck with mist coming out. Everytime he appears infront of a lost person mist surround him, he's purpose is to guide the lost to were their wanted to go by flying above them and once the person is at it's terminal he dissappear has if he never was here.

Hybrid AU:

Again this one I also a bit easy. Ingo and Emmet are a Chandelur and Elektross hybrid respectively. Human hat the start aren't hybrid and the only way to become one is to form a very close bond to a pokemon to the point were the human soul adapt to resemble the pokemon. Ingo and Emmet had since there young age a very close bond to there partner to the point that they became hybrid at only 11, their hybrid form changing at the same time they partner evoled.

Warrior cats AU:

And finally the last one, this one is one of the two that I had a harder time building, but anyway, the story kinda go like this, the Unova clan is part of a big group of different clans (the other regions) that are more close to humans than others clans, Whitesmile and Blackfrown are two warriors that mostly patrol close to the rails and the train station named "Gear station" close to it, they're the little mascot of this station because of how many time they come there, there maskot name are Ingo and Emmet who were proposed by a worker has a joke but everyone like it so it stick, they have there on little hat made for them with the station logo on them. One day when the twin with their warrior friends Sparkpelt (Elesa) were close to the Water Cliff a dog attack them, the dog was going to attack Whitesmile but Blackfrown step in front and got send in the water below. He got caught in the current and couldn't get out, he hit his head on one of the rock in the river and passe out. Later he wake up with little memories in a small clan named Pearl clan, he got told that he was found and brought here by one of there blessed warrior Lady Sneasler. When he was healed enough to moved he got fast friend with Lady Sneasler and got assigned has here warden wich are a role given to cat to work alongside a blessed warrior, Lady Snealser died some moons ago from a snake attack so she was alone until she found him. He got renamed has Wanderingfrown.

Phew here we go, that was a lot and I think got a bit carried away 😅 but I'm very happy to finally being able to talk about them and I hope you like them ^^.

Ok so could you do the 'bright as sun' on your headcannon post and use either the romantic or platonic relationship, whichever works better, maybe even both?

Idk where to start cuz it's hard to sum people up in a few words (especially myself hehe) and that's cuz humans are really complex and awesome :D

I really love plants and nature, I would spend all of my time outdoors building tree forts and observing moss (as long as it's warm enough outside) and I just generally enjoy plants and mushrooms and really anything green/nature-y.

I'm very sensitive to emotions so I feel them extra strong and have really high empathy (which has it's positives and negatives). I try my best to be the kindest version of myself cuz there is so much horrible shit in this world. This kinda leads to me staying strong and acting positive to support the people in my life who need it even when i'm struggling (a lot rn actually 😭). The world can be such an amazing and magical place, and god I do my best to see the beauty in it and give out beauty back.

I have a weird relationship with food but I absolutely love breakfast. I have a fucking huge earring collection (like 100 pairs and they are all like dangling goofy lil things). I have two ways to dress and it's either a casual outfit that's sweatpants and a sweatshirt or I'm wearing a flowy dress. Also my room have like every piece of wall covered with something either stickers, quotes, poster, picture, drawings, lights, and I love it cuz visual clutter is really cool. Also my favorite feeling is being wrapped up in blankets on my bed (possibly cuddling someone) scrolling through tumblr with nothing else I need to be doing.

Umh the character I relate to the most is James (I actually kinda look like him cuz of my hair and glasses) and my favorite ship rn is jegulus & marylily cuz of all those rich dynamics :D

Romantic relationship - for some reason I see you with Pandora. She always had the ability to find person who is special. You weren't really friends before, like you talked once or you said hi to each other, but first time you really started talking was when she saw you in corridor helping some first year student. She always knew you are kind, but when she saw you there, she felt something telling her that you are really good person. She walked to you and started talking to you and offered to walk you to your class. Later she started talking to you everyday and always walked you to your class. After month spending time together, she asked you on date. You went to Hogsmeade. You had really good time and you started dating. I think your relationship is based on spending time together and doing things together. Like she always watch you building tree forts or she helps you with it. Also, you two spend time with your friends and everybody thinks you are such a cute couple!

Ughhhhh posting this here because I have a tumblr tag instead of a dream journal and usually that’s fine and I’m good posting incredibly personal shit online for various levels of strangers/friends etc but uhhh if we hang out IRL please don’t read this one.

Fucking DEEPLY upsetting and stressful dream today that I’m hoping the details of it don’t mean anything specific.

In the dream I lived in an apartment building instead of my house, but still lived with my partner and one of our actual housemates, just like irl. I think we had a fourth housemate who isn’t our Actual IRL 4th housemate but it wasn’t important for the dream.

What WAS important for the dream is that my existing housemate J kept acting like a creep to me, and then would find excuses to get everyone else out of the house and rape me. Luckily for me this dream was fade-to-black before things Overtly Happened, which is USUALLY but not always the case when I dream things with sexual content. But as dreams do you get the info without the experience and it’s some emotional fuckery either way. But anyhow he would rape me and then after the cut-to-black would taunt me about how no one would believe me, and he threatened me against doing anything to stop him, and the dream kept going through scenarios where I would try to be alone with anyone but him but he would find a way to show up whenever I tried to find someone to help me. And every time someone’s back was turned he’d give me a Look, either evil grin like “haha you thought you could end this” or threatening like “don’t you dare” and idk what was stopping me from telling someone when I was around him from the Logic of the dream but I was just really scared, and when they left and we were alone again he’d cut-to-black rape me again. These scenes were presented back-to-back in the dream but I think they were meant to be spread out over some amount of time. He would let me be totally alone by myself but any time someone showed up or I got someone to come over he’d show up and I’d just have to pretend to be fine and then he’d punish me for trying to get help. He was also making sure I never had my phone when he wasn’t around so I couldn’t call or text anyone about it. At some point in the dream I managed to get my phone somehow and texted my partner “help me” and then J caught me with my phone and that’s around where I woke up.

There was no resolution to the dream and it’s upsetting even writing it down again. I haven’t been particularly extra stressed or depressed or anything lately and in fact have been having a pretty nice week, so I don’t get why I’m having such an awful dream rn. This housemate has never been creepy or threatening to me in ANY way irl and nor has anyone else been that he might have been a stand in for. I’m hoping the reason my brain cast him as the rapist in my dream is just because he’s really good at acting villainous (he’s the DM for one of our dnd games and plays some delightfully fucked up villains and is very good at it), because I don’t know anyone else who has ever given me Evil Grins before so perhaps my brain just needed anyone who I had seen giving an Evil Grin (as most of my dreams are pretty unexpressive when ot comes to people showing emotions)

Ugh and I feel gross and I wish I didn’t remember some of this dream so vividly because even if there was no visual sexual imagery, the whole thing was tinged with power and control and helplessness. I can see his face fucking grinning at me and feel how frozen-in-fear I was in the dream. I am DEEPLY hoping that either the dream will fade by the time I get dressed and go downstairs, or that my expert skills in being Casually At Arms Length will help me not have to Be Weird around J until I can forget all about it.

ETA: god fucking damnit I just remembered I have to go ask him opinions about Craigslist furniture today hope I can look him in the face fml 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

On the bright side I’m sleeping over at my moms tonight so hopefully by the time we get to dnd on Sunday I’ll be Normal again

Update: went grocery shopping with partner before he came home so i Became Normal during that time - can apparently continue this Being Normal despite still remembering the dream.

y'know there is something to be said about how many atheist circles (including those that rub elbows with occultism/witchcraft) that pride themselves in being anti-religion are built on an inflated sense of superiority over the Delusional Mass Of Religious Sheep where these atheists and those like them Are The Only Rational People and the way those circles will always, invariably, devolve into being vaguely pro-eugenics, religious intolerant as fuck (while claiming religious intolerance is the proof religion is the root of all evil) and espousing white supremacist talking points (not to mention the like actual white supremacists lol)

tbh i am v frustrated by the tendency of some ppl on both sides (not tryin to be generalizing, this isnt abt everyone just Certain People) to be aggressively moralizing about atheism. like Obviously people are gonna think their own beliefs are superior, thats why they believe em in the first place. but it drives me bonkers whenever some ~progressive agnostics~ who claim to believe in religious freedom turn around and shit on atheists for "not being spiritual or emotional enough" which is stupid bc the whole point of religious freedom is that you have the liberty to NOT be religious too! and then you have some atheists who act like they're right because everyone else is sooo stupid while ignoring the many many reasons someone might be religious other than just "make-believe"!! reminds me of when ppl talk about how crazy it is that anyone could fall for "obvious" cult tactics bc they have no understanding of how cult behaviors can exist outside of the stereotype of a spooky commune with a fake jesus leader

and goodness gracious atheism is just as fucking fine as anything else Obviously. and tbh i respect it enough if someone being straightup anti-theist on a political level if they genuinely believe that religion is the root of the problem and Acknowledge That after genuine thought . but some ppl will do shit like take a snippet of religious text and strip it from all context/interpretation/etc while waving it around like Evidence that Religion Is Silly and thats it

there is also this annoying divide between ppl who are chill with big religion and not with more niche personal beliefs and vice versa. like u get ppl who think christianity, islam, etc are fine and excusable (regardless of whether they believe in it or not) bc they have "cultural value" but dunk on peoples less popular practices bc they think it must be some mental problem or just "too weird!" ... and on the flip side youve got people who are fine with the personal beliefs they think will always remain harmless while opposing bigger religions under the assumption that every single believer's practice of them must fit neatly into the category of Oppressor. but that is somewhat a less relevant conversation and im starting to experience very weird vertigo shit rn so im gonna stop staring at a screen god bless

hi!! so since im not active 24/7 anymore i feel like u missed a lot so little update!!

i lost most of my friends. ive had so many depressive episodes and then weird episodes where i would hate them and want them to die. so ig it makes sense but also they know that i have these episodes but wtv not everyone can handle that and i respect that. they didnt have to be such bitches abt it tho. i got them muffins as apology bc i rlly cant control those episodes and they fucking rolled their eyes at me. girl. ur acting as if ur not fucking toxic urself. at least own it omg.

L and i got sooo close irl. shes been way more touchy w me which i rlly appreciate bc its so comforting and makes me feel so much more loved than just words.

and uhm. today was the worst day of my life. i had a panic attack during english class so i left and decided to skip the next period which is allowed if ur in a bad mental state. i told a teacher and he was like okay fine but for some reason the secretary still called my mom? she was so mad bc she doesnt believe in mental illnesses and all that yk so i was too scared to go home. i told my homeroom teacher and she said that there was obv a bigger underlying issue that was causing this. i basically started sobbing and she was so kind to me and hugged me. she even started crying w me oml.

she said that one of the teachers saw me looking at pro-ana sites in class(probably tumblr i hate yall LMAO) and they told her. she wouldnt tell me who it was. if i find out who snitched i will hshdhsjdh. i fr cant let anyone know abt my ed but god i was so close to telling her everything.

she said that i dont have any adults in my life who i can rely on and that i carry way too much for a teenager. shes getting me a school therapists and tbh i dont think itll help much bc ive had a few before but shes so nice to me so ill try. idk if im ready to talk abt my ed yet but i def want to do smth abt my mood swings and everything that comes w it. its so tiring.

she couldnt rlly do anything abt my moms anger so she told me that it was just one day and that i could get through it and i would speak w her again tmr. heating her say that was a real relief ngl. my mom hasnt ever been this mad(except for that one time 3 years ago when she wouldnt allow me anywhere but the attic for 3 weeks) and its rlly scary. home situation isnt great and school isnt either but god id do anything to be at school rn.

all in all life still sucks, i love L and now im starting school therapy. woohoo.

Good evening anon! I hope you're having a wonderful day. <3 Thank you for dropping into my inbox! I love it when people ask me MCU-related questions, and this happens to be a specific one that I've been sitting on for a while.

(Warning: this post is slightly anti-Stucky. Please scroll past if you are a shipper as this post isn't for you.)

Why SamBucky Succeeded While Stucky Crashed and Burned: A Controversial Study in Fandom Drama

The main problem lies within Stucky.

The majority of the problems with Stucky surround the fanbase rather than the ship itself. The ship itself is generally unproblematic--if not tasteless as whitebread--and exactly the kind of ship I’d expect basic fans to be obsessed over. The MCU isn’t the first big fandom I’ve dipped my toes in and it certainly won’t be the last. Stucky fans are what ruined it for me, though. What’s wrong with Stucky shippers you say? I’m so glad you asked.

I use the phrase “bland gay ship for straight girls” or “shipping two white men” every once in a while, but trust me I don’t throw around the phrases lightly. As someone who was told I was a cringy straight girl shipping two men together when I was like 13, it really rubs me wrong when people generalize all shippers that way. (Especially considering I actually was queer but didn't know it at the time.)

For most queer teens, they find safety and validity in shipping two people that they identify as also queer or as having similar characteristics to themselves. Sometimes two white male actors do have that chemistry and sometime’s the writing is that good.

There is nothing wrong with shipping two white men and people have got to stop calling everyone who ships those kinds of relationships as “ships for 13-year-old straight girls.” Like seriously STOP.

But.

Can queer people please please stop shitting all over m/f ships. I know I know, y’all are upset about the heteronormativity of it all and you hate the “straighties,” but two things: a) when you bash healthy, canonical m/f ships you are shitting all over straight trans people and bisexual/pansexual/polysexual people and b) there is NOTHING INHERENTLY WRONG with m/f ships even--oh god I’m going to say it--even if both characters are 100% cishet.

Is it misogyny? I don’t actually know. Is it a problem I should be addressing in a 1k essay on why Sambucky is thriving while Stucky crashed and burned? Eh, probably not, but it’s worth mentioning. Mainly because as long as we’re going to talk about Stucky, we need to address the fact that A) Stucky fans are hugely problematic (hence the weird hate for Peggy Carter--and I’m not even touching on the Sharon Carter hate rn) and B) they feel like they are owed something by canon.

Let’s be perfectly clear on that last statement, Stucky Fans act like they are owed something.

Controversial take on Tumblr: fans aren’t owed anything by creators.

I’m sure it’s one thing if a creator specifically promises something to their fans, but after sitting through the actual superhell that the SPN fandom became for 12+ years, it has come to my attention that fans are incredibly entitled over what they are “owed”. I understand the disappointment and I understand being devastated by how canon actually turned out, but the amount of hate Peggy Carter received overnight after Endgame (2019) was astounding. Never mind the fact that her arc was actually botched worse than Steve’s, somehow it was her fault that Steve decided to ditch his “one true love” for *checks notes*...his toxic almost date.

Honestly, iwasonceafangirl on reddit wrote a much better post on the issue of Steggy vs. Stucky drama that went down that I highly recommend reading. It sums up my feelings on the matter pretty well.

So to summarize, Stucky fans threw a huge rage fit over the Russo brothers canonically tying Steve’s arc up with a Steggy bow, and are still trying to recover. They throw hate at everyone from Peggy fans for having the canon ship to RDJ himself because they took the “pick a side” schtick from CA:CW too seriously and think it’s a personality trait to be Team Cap.

And, above all else, the MCU is homophobic for not making their ship canon.

The MCU itself is not necessarily homophobic--I would argue that Disney and executives who greenlight decisions in the MCU are homophobic--but for some reason, if you don’t ship Stucky you’re branded as a homophobe? Make it make sense.

I also hear a lot of shit from fans about how Stucky was queerbaited and honestly I don’t see it. I’ve been in fandoms where the queerbaiting was off the fucking charts and in other fandoms where the queerbaiting was just subtle enough to slide under the rug, and Stucky doesn’t lie in either of those camps.

Honestly, it comes across as a friendship between two people who consider each other brothers. You can argue to the end of the day that lines like “until the end of the line” are romantic--and in the right context they are--but the lack of chemistry between the actors and the lack of marketing that would imply the two of them as a ship for views...if there was any queerbaiting it was minimal. Non-existent, if you will.

For the most part, Stucky is just another bland, MCU ship that somehow became the most popular MCU ship besides Stony and Pepperony (according to ship stats on ao3 in 2020).

I would hazard a guess that one of the reasons it’s the most popular is that it’s been around the longest. Well, longest gay ship at least.

If we’re looking at the MCU movie lineup, The First Avenger was the 5th release in Phase One. The first film, Iron Man (2008), featured Pepperony--(a truely underrated ship that doesn’t get enough attention bc y’all can wrap your minds around healthy m/f relationships)--which wasn’t going to get a lot of traction until later movies.

It also set up Iron Husbands, but that ship also doesn’t gain a lot of traction until Iron Man 2 (2010), when they switch out Terrance Howards for Don Cheadle and we get that sweet “married for forty years” chemistry between Tony and Rhodey.

Still, Iron Husbands is a rarepair, probably because it’s an interracial ship. If we’re talking Tony ships, Pepperony is the first in the lineup, which is why I would guess it’s the third most popular ship.

The Incredible Hulk (2008) was second in that lineup and hardly worth mentioning (despite my undying love for Norton, but that’s off topic). We can scrap that film of characters and ships.

After that you get Thor (2011) which featured Fosterson (and Th/orki if you’re nasty) which also wasn’t going to get a lot of traction, not because it wasn’t canon yet, but because it’s a m/f ship.

Then, finally, you get Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) a film that features two white men that we can finally ship without there being technical incest!

So the first MCU film comes out to feature two men that the fandom was okay with shipping.

(Again, nothing wrong with shipping two white men, but it does become a problem when you ignore/bash POC/interracial ships to the determinant of your own white ship.)

Th/orki’s a bust (because again INCEST), Iron Husband’s doesn’t have the chemistry/isn’t white enough for audiences, m/f’s are pushed to the side by shippers, and any other male characters haven’t interacted in canon as of yet.

But what’s the appeal? Why is Stucky the ship of the MCU when we have other noncanonical gems like IronStrange and WinterIron. (Not being sarcastic, those two ships genuinely slap.)

The answer to that is the crux of my thesis.

Why Did SamBucky Succeed While Stucky Crashed and Burned

Well, the answer to that lies in chemistry. I mentioned above that Evans and Stan lacked the kind of chemistry I usually observe in most ships that are queerbaited or otherwise. That isn’t to say that they’re bad actors or their characters don’t come across as friends. They do, however, lack intimacy and passion.

I’m not joking.

Let me ask you this: what do these ships have in common?

If your answer was "Tony Stark" yes you're right, but no that's not the point. The point is, in all of these very VERY different ships with incredibly different dynamics. The SAME PERSON is in all of these gifs. And yet each dynamic is vastly different and still incredibly interesting. I've said before that Tony Stark is the most shippable character in the MCU, but honestly it comes down to how amazing of an actor RDJ is and how elegantly he's able to convey intimacy, longing, and hate with a single glance.

Stucky...the closest I can come to seeing the chemistry in Stucky is here:

And that's mostly props to Sebastian Stan for having puppy eyes. Besides a few instances where Evans and Stan manage to convey the kind of intimacy stans say they have in the movies, most of the time Stucky gives us the same, boring dynamic that's tired of itself.

Literally the plot to EVERY SINGLE movie that features Steve and Bucky they have the SAME DYNAMIC and the SAME DILEMMA. Bucky’s in trouble and Steve has to save him.

It is beyond me why Stucky is the most shipped ship in the MCU--literally, the only reason I can fathom it is with my explanation of Stucky being the first white m/m ship in the fandom--when there is literally no chemistry or drama.

What even is their dynamic beyond “yeah we were childhood friends but we never actually talk or act like it” and “Steve has to save Bucky again”? You reach Endgame and the “Steve has to save Bucky again” agenda is on it’s fifth (?) run and then boom! Steve suddenly abandons Bucky in present-day to marry his old flame Peggy Carter and like…

Yeah I can see why Stucky fans are mad bc not only does that not make sense--considering the way previous films with them have gone--but also it proves my point. They have no romantic chemistry.

Stucky crashed and burned because Steve had more chemistry with a married woman he shared one movie with from the 1940s than the guy he promised “to the end of the line” with. There was absolutely nowhere the writers could go with them. What were they going to do? Make another movie where Steve has to save Bucky again?

“bUt tHEy cOUlD haVE mADe tHEm cANOn!?!?11!”

No, they really couldn’t. Besides the fact that Disney is never going to have a queer main character due to being unable to market their films in China and the fact that their executives are homophobic, Stucky was never set up to be canon at any point.

Yes, there are ships that weren’t supposed to be canon that lead to becoming canon because the actors had mad chemistry or that’s where the story led them, but the story didn’t lead to Stucky becoming canon and honestly? They don't have the chemistry.

So why does SamBucky work?

Tell me their chemistry doesn’t just radiate from the screen. Say it to my face.

Sam and Bucky work because their characters actually have somewhere to go and they feel like actual partners rather than two people canon says are partners. We actually get to see their relationship progress and grow strong. Stucky is a huge fan of tell but don’t show. SamBucky is the exact opposite.

I haven’t even seen TFATWS straight through yet--(honestly I wasn’t going to touch the MCU ever again and I’m not really up to watch military propaganda: mcu edition, but Loki (2021) is slowly dragging me back in)--and I can already tell that the writing, the characters, and the atmosphere is 1000% more interesting than any Captain America movie ever was.

I don’t even have to go into a huge, in-depth analysis on why SamBucky works because compared to Stucky? Any Bucky ship is better. SamBucky just happens to be the closest m/m to canon and we just got new content for it.

(Also Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie have mad chemistry, but y'all can see that from the gifs and if you've watched the show.)

SamBucky works because they have the chemistry and storyline to support their relationship, romantic or platonic. Stucky crashed and burned because it was a stale dynamic that had nothing left to offer.

okay i guess we’re grief processing on tumblr. i’d appreciate it if you don’t reblog this because i legitimately don’t have the spoons rn to deal with anyone acting up on it

my aunt was so wonderfully weird. and ftr I do mean weird, not eccentric. “Eccentric” would imply money we absolutely do not have lmao

Imagine Ouiser from the original Steel Magnolias as a broke ass Black woman and that was my aunt. (But she used to hate when we would call her Ouiser fjdfs) She even had the big gigantic dog with anxiety. (RIP Fats, your mom’s finally home with you again.)

Like the rest of my mom’s siblings she was creative and artsy. she drew like the rest of them, and adored classical music and opera, but she also studied ballet at the Joffrey Ballet and desperately wanted to be a dancer. They found cysts on her spine though, so that took care of that. She didn’t let it stop her from loving the arts though, even though she what my mom did and gave it up for a more “practical” career.

Shrimp Fried Rice was her favorite thing in the world to eat. She’d eat the cold leftovers for breakfast while we watched the Twilight Zone. Mind you everything I learned about cooking I learned from her, including how to make that marinara sauce I just posted. She was Iron Chef Italian. Learned at the feet of an old nona in her building growing up, even. (Brooklyn was a lot less segregated back then, funny enough.) But that shitty shrimp fried rice was like the gods’ own ambrosia to her.

She loved loved loved sci-fi and fantasy and horror. We bonded over Lord of the Rings, when I showed her the extended versions (she rarely if ever went to theaters tbh). We would marathon them every Xmas and drive my mom insane. And she really did go to the very first Trek con ever held, the one at the Hilton in Manhattan in the 70s. Still had her ticket and everything. It’s probably worth a small fortune tbh. (I told y’all this shit was genetic) She was TOS only though, as she would holler to anyone who would listen, including me. Picard was “pointy bald headed motherfucker” according to her. Somewhere she still has TOS zines and like, Spock was her Blorbo, if ever there was one. Years ago when I was living out west, she even called me in the middle of my work day solely to brag about how she met Shatner and Nimoy at one of the casinos because they were making an appearance at a fan event together, something they very rarely did in later years. “Hey Aurora I just met Nimoy again. Have fun at that shitty ass job today.” was the entire voicemail she left me fsdjkfsdfs

That’s just how she was though. Extra at all times, snarky, witty, phasers set to roasting (affectionate) at all times. The quintessential Gemini if ever there was one (her birthday is 2 days after mine, even). I still laugh about the look of absolute murder she gave my sister’s stereotypically, painfully Midwestern friend when she suggested we eat at McDs while we were on a post-cruise vacation in Rome.

She did slip into Archie Bunkerism in her later years and eventually I sorta had to take her in small doses, if I’m honest. She was very set in her ways in a lot of respects. But she was still wickedly, wickedly funny, even when the dementia started getting bad. In hindsight there’s a lot of her in me, the best parts I think. Well, and the depression. (The queer part I got from my uncle, who was equally weird and artsy.)

I mean she was 86 and had been sick for a long time but I’m honestly still in shock. I found out on Friday night and I still can’t really believe it. She was such a larger than life character, the sort you just kind of assume will be around as long as Keith Richards. Never, ever boring and never, ever apologetic. The world is a little more boring without her in it hollering about Patrick Stewart’s pointy bald head.

Aforementioned long ask post please excuse me while i try to figure out tumblr's new text editor. I’ll get into the art meme questions first and then the rest at the end.

Ok first of all thank you all for sending in questions! Giving me an excuse to talk hehe. I’ll address these in number order. Here’s a link to the ask meme for reference but also I’ll restate the question for ease of reading.

1. When did you get into art?

Super cliche answer but I don’t remember a time where I WASN’T the weird art kid! I started keeping a dedicated sketchbook when I was about 12? But here’s a page from my kindergarten journal about what I want to be when I grow up.

2. What art-related sites have you ever signed up for?

LOL this is a weird question. Not sure why so many people want to know. Anyways I definitely had a dA. more than one dA account. I used to browse oekakis when I was a kid but I think I was only signed up to some small ones that internet friends owned. What else...? Mangabullet,Tegakie, Paintberri, iscribble back when that was a thing, instagram if that COUNTs, I used to post art on livejournal and dreamwidth too. Patreon, I guess. Gumroad, inprnt, bigcartel, storenvy all for selling stuff.

In terms of resources.. I have a schoolism account that I’m sharing with friends. Used to take classes on coursera for free. I signed up to textures.com for work recently haha. I can’t remember if I ever had an account on posemaniacs. Did they have accounts...? I definitely used to visit all the time.

3. Show us your oldest piece of art you have on hand.

Alright here’s me actually logging into my old deviantart account. These are from September 2008 So I was 13 years old. I don’t have a deviantart account from before then because 13 was the required age for having an account and I didn’t want to lie about my age because I wanted people to be impressed by how young yet clearly incredible at art I was LOL.

4. What defines your artistic style?

You guys are probably more equipped to answer this than me but uh... I wanna say... Focus on colors. And... a slightly heavy hand? Like confident... not always well-considered mark making HAH...

Also I think I have a pretty healthy mix of american comics/manga influences. I feel like people who are into american comics always think my art is too manga and people who are into anime/manga always think my art is too american. And I’m taking that as a good sign.

5. Do you practice other styles/have you tried other styles in the past?

I like to think I switch it up a bunch! I mean, these are pretty different, right?

I think I’ve mentioned this before but one thing I really took away from art school is that, for an illustrator at least, art style shouldn’t be consistent. Your greatest weapon is changing the aspects of your style based on the task, the emotions and message you want to illustrate etc. So depending on the project I’m working on, the fandom I’m drawing for, whether I want something to be funny or serious or dramatic, I’ll change things about my style all the time.

One thing I don’t rly post on here is really tight polished work and that’s because I do that for my day job haha. If you’re not paying me... I’m probably not gonna color in the lines.

6. What levels of artistic education have you had?

I have a whole ass diploma LOL. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. from the Rhode Island School of Design. And I had a great college experience tbh. Besides the student loans. If any of you guys are thinking about art school feel free to e-mail or message me questions or concerns, I’ll be happy to help. Be as honest as I can be.

7. Show us at least one picture you drew or sketched recently that you did not put on a public site.

8. What is your favourite piece that you have done?

Well, obviously this is gonna change all the time and generally it’s gonna be my most recent piece LOL. So yeah, why the hell not. I’ll say it’s this one. I have a pretty short memory which I count as a blessing for an artist. I don’t dwell that long on older work and it keeps me moving forward.

10. What do you like most about your art?

I like that it’s something that only I would make! I had this thought fairly recently and I wrote it down in my sketchbook, it’s pretty cheesy and rambling but it felt revolutionary at the time:

So yeah. I like my art best when it’s the most me and for me. And I like it least when it feels like I’m just making something for social media or for other people’s expectations or whatever.

14. What do you like drawing the most?

Kids in baggy clothing are like my go-to LOL idk if that’s obvious. but also I like being challenged so lately I’ve really loved drawing multi-character compositions, environments, weird angles, etc.

oh i LOVE drawing the underside of shoes lol. And bandages. People that are kinda beat up.. I think it comes from getting a bunch of cuts all the time. I’m always patching myself up and I want to patch characters up too.

15. What do you like drawing the least?

mmm I try to find something to like in every drawing but lets see... I don’t like doing commissions of people’s dogs. Just because it’s normally like... a family friend and my mom volunteered me without my consent and I don’t even really know what they’re expecting me to draw and I don’t even get to meet the dog. Also I’m not that great at dog anatomy. Trying to learn though.

18. What is your purpose for drawing?

This could have a million answers! Uhhh to GIT GOOD??? But also to express myself... and also to make money... I mean it depends on what the drawing IS. I draw fanart mostly to connect to people in the fandom so if you ever see me drawing fanart please take it as like an open invitation to talk to me about the character haha.

20. How would you rank your art? (poor, mediocre, good, etc.)

Good!!! I have a lot of self-confidence primarily born out of ignorance and a short attention span. If I don’t think too hard about how many other artists are mindblowingly unfathombly good... its easy to think I’m good too! LOL

In all seriousness though, I think the opinion a person has of their art is like a crazy balancing act, right? Like you have to think you suck enough to want to get better but also you have to think you’re good enough to not want to give up. I think we’re all walking that line, I know I am! But also I’m a glass half-full type of person so. Most of the time I feel good about it.

22. List at least one of your “artspirations.”

This is a good question because I’ve been trying and failing to put together one of those “influence map” memes for like a full month now. What’s giving me a hard time is I feel like none of these are actually really obvious “““influences”““ in my art? Like it’s hard to see a lot of them in the work I make...? But idk maybe you guys’ll see what I can’t.

And these are just a couple! God there’s so many more. I could talk about other artists for ages, from all different genres of art. Daumier, Rockwell like every illustrator out there, Dana Gibson, Alex Toth, Hiroshi Yoshida, a lot of the Brandywine School. Lots of current working artists too, Karl Kerschl, frikkin Masashi Kishimoto lol, Jake Wyatt, Richie Pope, Edouard Caplain, Matt Cook, Sachin Teng, - lots of big internet artists, Sophie Li, Freddy Carrasco, Milliofish, Angela Sung... like all my friends from art school too. I could just keep going but I’ll stop for now lol.

24. Do you have a shameful art past? (recolour sprite comics, tracing art, etc.)

I mean if that’s how we’re defining shameful?? sure LOL. It’s not sprite comics but I used to do pokemon sprite recolors all the time. And I used to trace manga panels and color them... Granted this was all when I was like under 12 yrs old so it’s not even embarrassing. Can you really call it shameful when a 7 year old wets the bed or whatever? Not really. In fact some of these are cool as fuck. Look

25. Draw a picture!

Man I’m so tired now but here.

I used to get a lot of compliments for drawing people smiling lol but I don’t think I’ve drawn a lot of smiling lately.. here’s proof I’ve still got it.

I read this ask first thing when i opened my computer in the morning and it made me really emotional.. I’m so glad my sketches could help you!!

I think a lot of artists on social media talk about the struggle of making art but imo not enough people talk about the joy! Like I know it’s corny but. I really meant what I said at the beginning of that sketchbook about re-contextualizing art around process and progress > product and perfection. I think its super important..! The strength of messy, unfinished, and energetic art! For the feeling of it, for the love it!

Hi! I totally have the answer for digital stuff on my faq lol. But in terms of drawing on paper.. it varies! I tend to use sketchbooking and any on-paper doodling I do as a way to loosen up/warm-up or experiment. But right now my go-to aresenal is:

from top > bottom

- kuretake no.55 doublesided brush pen

- tombow fudenosuke

- muji 0.38 ballpoint

- medium size poscas

- grey tombow double brush pens

- good ol bic mechanical pencil

not EXACTly sure which inking you referring to from my sketchbook but if I had to take a guess it'd probably be the kuretake no55. That's been my main inker, lately. Great for sketching with the thin end too.

You can print out and eat my art if you like. Just please don't mass produce or re-sell. <3

Thanks! I've come to accept that my art is always gonna be sort of gestural and painty naturally. It's getting it to tighten up enough to be legible that's hard lol...

rating every jack frost iteration that i can think of off of the top of my head rn bc sleep is a myth

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: i have never touched an atlus game but oh my god look at him. he’s just a little guy and it’s his birthday!!! i love his fun hat and how small and round he is, and his :D face with little fangs. apparently he’s also a demon??? that gives you a gun in one of the games?? that’s always a plus!! i don’t like the fact that he’s british though. 10/10 instant improvement to any game

FROSTY’S WINTER WONDERLAND: this movie is very much a product of its time w how it treats crystal and is VERY much trying to capitalize off of the success of the original frosty, but idk i still think it’s kinda cute. but this isn’t rating the movie. this is rating jack frost. here he is a silly little man!! his whole spiel is that he’s jealous that frosty is more popular than him so he wants to murder him. y’know, typical cartoon villain stuff. don’t worry though, he gets defeated by the power of friendship and a Kiss from a Cute Snowlady, and decides he’s going to make winter last forever for frosty and his new wife crystal bc they’re probably the first people to validate him in years. wow. what a guy. also his design’s excellent and his voice sounds exactly what u think it sounds like, it’s great. 10/10 i want to see him and smt jack commit crimes together

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS: here he is. the tumblr sexyman himself. i don’t remember anything from this movie except that no one can see him and he’s sad about it, i think. also he has a big magic stick and i have no idea what it’s actually used for. ice, i think?? but yeah, he is literally just some generic modern-looking white boy. with a big stick. i don’t understand the appeal, but then again i’m a lesbian and i don’t own an air fryer. 2/10 best and only anime i’ve ever seen /j

JACK FROST (1979): “wait a minute, u already put the rankin-bass one on here!! they’re the same character!!” shut up this is my list, i get to do what i want. anyways i literally just finished watching this movie for the first time and i thought it was cute. his outfit’s changed a little bit from winter wonderland and the colors here are a little too similar for my taste but it’s still a SUPER solid design. like, a pointy hat, tunic, boots AND leggings?? too much power. he is significantly less bastardly here but he’s still super silly and nice. we love to see it!! 8/10 i want in on that groundhog con deal

SANTA CLAUSE 3: i watched this movie several times as a kid, and i couldn’t tell u for the life of me why. i was actually kinda surprised when rewatching some clips of this guy on youtube! his design’s... okay i guess, but his lines are so corny and his acting is so over-the-top that he actually ends up being kinda funny. anyways he wants to ruin santa's life so he can…. travel into the past and sabotage santa’s backstory?? so he can be capitalist santa??? i don’t remember how any of that worked but it was bc of some weird magic law i think, because its the fucking santa clause. anyways uhhh.... he exists!! that’s all i can really say about him!! 5/10 eat the rich

FROSTY AND RUDOLPH’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY: gee rankin-bass jack, how come YOUR mom lets u have THREE designs??? i like what they were trying to go for by combining the first 2 designs they made, but oh my god i literally cannot stand to look at him. i don’t know if it’s just his absurdly long neck, but that head just does NOT look like it belongs on that body. what were they thinking. 0/10 u had one job

JACK FROST (1998): an irl friend actually told me about this one and all i gotta say is... what the fuck, sarah???? i’ve read the wikipedia article and like. this jack’s a regular dude who’s a musician w/ kids, right??? and uh... he just fucking dies. and comes back to life as a snowman to help his son move on from his death. and then he dies again. i don’t know how anyone could take something like this seriously. this movie doesn’t even sound real, it’s like someone based it off of a really fucked up fever dream or something. anyways 4/10 i don’t have anything clever to say about this
