Chapter 3 is up!
“We will disrupt them as we prepare for our main attack. Several of our people are entering your country now to slow down the destruction of the seals.”
“The first rule of war is know the way,” Shuri whispered, a half-remembered axiom.
K’uk’uklan rested a hand on her wrist, fingers dipping between kimoyo beads, his nail dragging along vibranium coated flesh. “Inform your general of our plans so they don’t kill us in the confusion. I would hate to add those deaths to our ledger.” Shuri sucked on her breath, a jerk of her hand, knocking over the inkwell. Ink spilled over the map, shrouding Wakanda in squid black.
“Attuma, take your advancement troops and leave as soon as possible. Namora, coordinate with the Black Panther on whatever message her general sent her on these beads. Panther, tell your people to cover their ears. We will ensure that you receive updates throughout the night.” He gestured toward a handmaiden, entering with chocolate, spiced with sugar and heat, and a sleeping draught. “We will rest now and leave in eight hours.”
As they prepared to depart the next morning, unexpected rain began to fall from the sky in Wakanda. A haunting melody began to drift through army camps. And a hurricane began brewing in the North Atlantic, aimed directly at Virginia.

You know, it's kinda funny how much of high fantasy centers around kings and nobility and courtly intrigue considering that the archetypal high fantasy, Lord of the Rings, had the rather explicit moral of "saving the world is up to this backwater hick and his gardener because no politician, least of all inherited nobility, would have the ability to see past their own ambition and throw away a weapon". Oh sure, Aragorn is a great king and all, but there's a reason he's over there running a distraction ring while the hobbits do the real work. Sauron loses because he gets distracted by kings and armies and great battles (i.e. typical high fantasy stuff) letting Frodo and Sam sneak through his back door and blow it all to hell.
Just saying, maybe old Jirt knew what he was saying when he said that the small folk doing their best and holding to each other was more powerful than a dozen alliances and superweapons and we should respect him for it.

forever fascinated by the many machinations of brennan's mind. image description in alt text, below, or at this reblog, originally from @arctic-hands
[Image Description: tweet by Brennan Lee Mulligan, @ BrennanLM. It says "While the statement 'Even educated fleas can do it' may at first seem inclusive, it actually suggests an insect society sharply divided by class, where access to institutions of higher learning is seen as prerequisite to the full range of natural emotions. In this TED talk I will–". In response, Sam Reich, @ SamReich, tweets "for the love of god brennan it's valentine's day", to which Brennan responds "Not for the working class fleas it's not! #Solidarity ["solidarity" in allcaps]" End I.D.]

“don’t cry, my child”
i was thinking about how venti canonically refers to the people of mondstadt as his “children” and how kaeya is included in that… then the brainrot took over and then i thought, what if when kaeya was a little kid and he felt lonely sometimes, venti would decide to shapeshift back into his little wind sprite form to comfort him…
