#and late in the comic only a few characters still say them and it's part of their characterization

the concept of the slur replacement project feels a bit like historical revisionism? especially considering how much i see people recommend it as the recommended way of reading homestuck. it's sanitizing down the more unpalatable bits of homestuck to make it seem more friendly and wholesome (which seems incredibly common among homestuck fans in general, especially among those who like to pretend the epilogues never happened, which is a whole other discussion i won't get into rn), and that just feels weird. not to mention the execution of it is very poor in general. the "future arachnids grip" joke is funny actually, and the change they made to make it "later arachnids grip" not only makes it a weaker joke (as it was initially a play on how the concept of gayness isn't really a thing to trolls), but also introduces an inconsistency in the writing, as it only does this change for vriska, drawing more attention to it. there's also a fucking... random bit where iirc for one line they replace a mention of bill cosby with... gnomeo and juliet? i think? which is not only a baffling decision that they don't, but is technically introducing an anachronism because that movie didn't come out until 2011. the writing they used to replace things in general just doesn't feel very homestuck-y, and it always feels clunky and awkward.

PROPAGANDA
KALLEN KOUZUKI (CODE GEASS) (CW Mind Control Mention)
1.) Kallen is constantly subjected to objectification. Most of the times she pilots her mech (giant robot), she's in this gratuitous shot of where she's bent over and it shows her ass or her boobs, and none of the men are subjected to this position or shot when they pilot. When she finds out that Zero (the leader of the resistance who she loves, respects, and follows) and Lelouch (a Britannian (the people occupying her country) who's her classmate and who she doesn't particularly like) are the same person and also that he has one-time-use-per-person mind control powers, instead of being conflicted about both her feelings and Lelouch being Zero in the first place and, y'know, THE MIND CONTROL, the next time we see her after she learns this (granted, after a time skip of a few months) she's just still in love with him and has no reservations about following him or, y'know, HIS MIND CONTROL POWERS. If she had any reservations or trust issues or mixed feelings, she dealt with them off screen during the time skip between season 1 and season 2. Because she has to be part of the show's harem nonsense, you see, god forbid her screen time and feelings about Zero/Lelouch once she knows he's Zero be mainly about HER or EVER stray from positive and romantic. And her character's focus/screen time at this point shifts from being about Japan (her home country) to being so much (albeit not entirely) about Lelouch and her feelings for him, and she's still a great character and one of the best pilots on the show but COME ON. And then so much of the official and gacha game art has her with this blushing waifu face that isn't reflective of the core of her character at all, and it's just like. why. why would you do this to her when it just makes your story worse. Like, Kallen's treatment takes the show's ranking down from A to A- all by itself.
2.) Wants liberty for her nation is a talented mecha pilot yet the ungodly sexualisation doesn’t do her justice at all. Also gets swept under Main Character’a Harem
3.) Do you know how hard it is to find a non sexual image of her??
CHI-CHI (DRAGON BALL)
1.) okay so to start at the beginning, she was introduced as a young kid but they put her in a super revealing bikini styled outfit. pretty sure it was supposed to be armor too, so besides just being a disgusting design choice even in-universe it's impractical. but besides that she was pretty charming as a kid, she was cute and funny and pretty tough, and had a cool gimmick in her blade/ laser helmet. even when she reappeared in late Dragon Ball, she was a bit abrasive but was overall rational and kind. she was strong enough to make it into the World Martial Arts Tournament, one of only 16 to qualify.
but come Dragon Ball Z and on, she's reduced to just a shrill, nagging, aggressive wife and mother. all she gets to do is cook, worry, and berate her husband and sons. her physical strength is only used so she can comically hit Goku. sure its played for laughs, but he's shown to be afraid of her. I only recall her leaving her house once or twice in DBZ. just the worst mother character stereotype, with nothing left to make her likeable. she's portrayed as irrational but despite her aggressiveness, half the time her wants are completely reasonable. can't blame a woman for not wanting her husband to die every other day!! her writing us ass but I still love her and she deserves better!!!
2.) So in Dragon Ball she wasn't the BEST character to start out with. Toriyama hasn't ever been the best at writing women or not making stupid fucking sex jokes about them. So she had to deal with that. The outfit she wore as a kid was… NOT GREAT. Let's say that! Then in late Dragon Ball her entire character revolves around Goku and trying to marry him, which she gets by tricking Goku and getting beaten by Goku in a tournament in one hit. Not off to a great start. Then Z started and Toriyama just… gave her an ENTIRELY NEW new personality, and that new personality was just a stereotype of a tiger mom. Regardless of how correct she might've been about letting Gohan fight (and she WAS completely correct, he was 5-6 for a HUGE chunk of Z) the narrative frames her as a hysterical and unreasonable woman nagging at the menfolk and not letting them do things. So naturally people hate her without even considering why she's upset because the story itself frames her as in-the-wrong. The whole franchise also just forgets that she's a martial artist and never has her DO ANYTHING.
This is only scratching the surface, there's a LOT more because the franchise is like 40 years old and we'd be here all day.
Tumblr media
3.) GODDDD okay so full disclosure i guess shonen is such an easy pick but like. out of every shonen wife she was and is THE most hated by the narrative and creator (maybe tied with sakura omfg). shes always made out to be a beast, got her fighting skills shafted after she got married, was always played like she was hysterical for worrying about her kid dying in battle, and not to mention the creator actively HATES her. like toriyama just straight up hates writing her. its bad. its really bad. shes just "bitch wife" but for no reason :(

All right, fellow MCU fans
So, after seeing the Marvels today, it got me thinking. Now, you probably don't know who I am. But I do happen to be a writer. Not a very good one mind you (several people would say otherwise, but shush, give me my self-loathing) Phase 4 (and the current parts of 5) is not that great. So I want to rewrite the Multiverse Saga. Yes. The entire thing. Even though it's not finished.
Very long blocks of text below. It's really the only thing that keeps me organized. Please read it though if you are interested. It'll be split up into sections, for somewhat easy perusal.
Now, I know this is an ambitious project, and one not done. I am no stranger to things like this, see my own game/show I'm making. (This is the only time I'm going to mention it. But I am pretty proud of it) So, for my very small amount of sanity, I'm stopping it at The Marvels, and Loki season 2 (Oops, still not finished with it yet). And I wanted to ask people what they thought was lackluster, or mediocre. Not the Marvel I and many other people grew up on. I do understand that it was flawed before, but when I recently rewatched most of them, I found that my childhood love for them had blossomed into something new. I was 6 when the first Avengers came out. I learned how to shoot a bow because of Hawkeye in that movie. And I think it deserves better, especially after watching the Marvels.
Now, this means everything after Endgame. So from Black Widow to The Marvels in terms of the movies, and the Disney+ series from Wandavision to Loki Season 2. I have a feeling it's going to take me a second to get through the remaining 5 episodes of Loki S2. My family wants to watch it with me, and they're all decently busy... Anyways, that's 10 movies, and 9 series. Although I don't accept Secret Invasion. Like at all. Anyways.
I have yet to decide what I'm going to publish this on. Probably A03, just because that's easiest for me. And I can organize much easier. Do let me know what you think.
So, before I get into the problems I've identified, feel free to stop here, and reblog or ask me your problems with the aforementioned shows and movies. I'm talking writing or character problems, as we've seen in the series. I am a fan of the comics, but you can divert from that, or stick to them.
Oh, and if you say something like "Make it more queer", I am a raging bisexual enby. I will already be making it queer as fuck, and can be convinced to ship pretty much anyone, if I can get a good reasoning behind it. Minors should be shipped with only minors. That's one of my few rules, if you send anything to me. So yeah, I'm doing genderfluid Loki.
Thoughts on everything:
This is just here so that I don't get a ton of repeats. I'll go movies first, then the TV shows.
Black Widow (2021) - Honestly, this is too late of a movie. Natasha deserved this before Endgame or Infinity War came out. But release dates aside, Taskmaster needs more screentime, and a chance to show how menacing they are. Natasha also needs more time with her family, and the parents need to be fleshed out a bit more. Belova is far too smart to be tricked by the lady in the post-credit scene.
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021) - I don't have any major problems with this movie. The Great Protector, or the dragon, and the supernatural creature, I think he's called Dweller In Darkness, kinda felt a little blank, and the Dweller shouldn't have died, only been pushed back. And I don't like Katy that much. Trevor is much better comedic relief in my opinion.
Eternals (2021) - Oh boy, where do we start with this one? You know it's bad if I can't remember any of the main characters names besides Ikarus. And that's because I was laughing my ass off at him throwing himself into the sun. There was also the Celestial I think it was? Anyways that thing broke islands up, and then just became a massive statue, and like no one mentions it? I don't remember much else about this movie, even after having watched it like 3 times. Oh, and the Ebony Blade was shown off. I like that if they can do something fun with that.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - Dr. Strange feels a little shoe-horned in. The whole sanctum being overtaken by snow was pretty clever, but Strange being a father figure to Peter is not super well established. Could be fixed with a couple of rewrites. Or Strange and Stark being together. Peter is a dumbass, and the reason for him starting the whole plot... is so dumb. I understand, teenagers can be stupid, hell, I go to public high school, but Peter's shown he's a lot smarter than this. But I do like the crossover (Dafoe as Green Goblin my beloved) and the fact that the other Spidermen get to say goodbye in one last movie. Anyways, Ned's wizard connections need to be elaborated on as well.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness (2022) - Alright, getting my biggest problem out of the way first. Wanda's corruption arc should have been shown. It should have been developed through the movie, and Wanda should have been with Strange and America. She can still be evil, and die after she realizes her actions, but this basically destroys the point of Wandavision. She was willing to say goodbye. Wanda has been a favorite of mine for years, and I read her comics religiously as a child. We need to see the power of the Scarlet Witch. What it did without Wanda. Her "No More Mutants" line sent chills down my spine the first time I read it. Sam Raimi directed this movie. Strange and Wanda should have had more horrific shit. And that one Strange with 3 eyes should have been the one from What If. We need horror in this. America also needs to be more fleshed out. I do love her, but we get like one scene of her being traumatized of basically growing up nowhere. Her moms get to stay though. I'm just going to ignore the last post-credit scene, because... that's setting something up I'm not sure of.
Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) - First up, Gorr has a great setup. He needed more screentime though. We need to see more of his god killing. They should rightfully be shitting their pants over this man. Thor leaving to save Sif was a good move, but that joke ruined the tension. She should have died there, proof of the god killer. Jane Foster is perfectly fine, and her arc is a lovely send-off. I would have loved some more stuff about the kids, especially Heimdall's. I don't even remember his name. He should have been shown doing something in Jane's return to Asgard, something that showed off his parentage. The meeting of the gods is a great scene, but there should have been people who spoke up, and then promptly getting thrown out, or even getting killed. Even more of a reason for Thor and crew to convince him. I think everything else is pretty good. Also Valkyrie is perfect in this movie. Bi queen. And her Loki knives are lovely.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - I actually think this one just needs a couple of little tweaks. I understand why they couldn't have T'Challa show up in the spirit world, and Killmonger was great, but I still think something between the siblings would be good. Fuck, I love the funeral scene. It was a lovely sendoff to both T'Challa, and Chadwick. Namor seems a little rash though. Might just be the comics leaking through on that matter but I do like the Mayan inspirations in the movie!
Antman: Quantumania (2023) - I'm not really sure on this movie. I don't like Janet in this movie. She feels too secretive. She could have told them plenty, even lied that Kang had gone home. He'd gotten out somehow. Kang didn't seem scared enough of the others, but that might just be me thinking of that. Oh, and MODOK sucked. He shouldn't be a joke. But Darren could have done something else, because he is in there.
Guardians of The Galaxy V.3 (2023) - Perfection in every way. I'm not changing anything unless it involves getting everything I'm incorporating in. And the Christmas Special is also great.
The Marvels (2023) - Spoilers! Kamala needed more screentime, she just generally felt disconnected from the plot besides her bangle. And I also wanted a more menacing villain. That's been the problem with them recently. They don't make me think that they could actually beat them. I like everything else though. Flerkins were great as usual. I love these stupid creatures so much. That one scene was beautiful.
Now to the shows! These are going to be so much shorter.
Wandavision (2021) - I think this is good. No notes.
Loki S1 (2021) - Good, besides the Sylvie/Loki romance. They are siblings. I'm not sure if there's anything else that I really had a problem with. It's been a moment. Which is a shame. I love Loki (Also bi confirmation! I love it!)
The Falcon & Winter Soldier (2021) - I also think this is good, besides maybe having some problems with the villain. Bromance all the way.
What If...? (2021) - Also pretty good. Little self-contained story. I like the zombies.
Hawkeye (2021) - I also think this one's pretty well written. Macaroni is constantly referenced in my house. Lucky is also a pretty boy.
Moonknight (2022) - Honestly, god tier. Anyways, no one mentioned the stars literally turning in Egypt. But maybe it was just the people thinking that they were drunk as shit and seeing something.
Ms. Marvel (2022) - Second favorite being Moonknight. I also don't remember anything glaringly wrong.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022) - Besides the tone of the show being inconsistent as shit, I think this show should have dove into some of the topics it brought up more. It just seemed a little surface level. Maybe a WWDITS style mockumentary would work better.
Secret Invasion (2023) - THIS ENTIRE SHOW SUCKS ASS. THIS WHOLE THING WAS DONE SO BADLY. I am not taking anything from this show
Loki S2 (2023) - Too distracted by another season 2 coming out, so I have yet to finish. I have heard it's good though. I've seen the first episode, and it's going pretty good so far.
Well, you made it to the bottom! Yay!
...This took me an hour to write. I did get the doc set up. And got a bit of an outline set up.

I have been a part of MCU fandom since it started in 2008, watched comic book movies way before it (X-Men were kind of a thing), Keaton´s Batman is still my Batman (I know, DC, I had no idea in the early 90s there was such a thing :D ).
But I don´t remember it ever being so toxic as it is lately. Admittedly, I kind of started to "fan" Tom himself more past few years, I still love RDJ and all the original guys from Phase 1 but my God, people went insane with social media.
And what is going on in Loki fandom? Or around Tom personally? Like people don´t believe he is in a relationship, and I only wait for first crazy to say "It is not his baby!" like they keep doing with poor Benedict. So he found himself a partner, good for him and he is obviously happy!
I loved all the red carpet content we got, I love that he is *finally* getting out of his shell after years of random appearances (granted, we were robbed for red carpets for Loki, first because of Covid and second because of strikes) and The Essex Serpent had some but most interviews were done by video (still not enough of them). So he is going to conventions, which is a fantastic thing. He meets fans, he loves meeting fans and it is great that we are not just waiting for Bobby/baby walk pictures. He can do whatever the hell he wants. And getting paid for it? He is a performer and is paid to perform. It is simple as that.
He just wrapped a movie in October and had a highly successful show in November. And he is still praised for it, may get some more nominations, will campaign for Emmy. Yes, he can do other stuff and he does but it takes time to make something and get things into productions is not easy. He obviously loves Loki and what actor can say they still can work with a character this long and still find something new? He basically created the character on screen and now will be forever remembered and anybody coming after him will be compared to Tom. That is no small achievement.
When it happened that "fans" think they know what is the best for a person they don´t even know in person? Give the guy a break.
And don´t get me started with those crazy "shipping wars", which is something I had now idea existed before (yes, I am a boomer already). Loki even did not kiss or stayed with anybody at the end, so what is the deal? Stop insulting each other, and stop projecting Tom and Sophia as Loki and Sylvie. Yes, it was probably only one or two cases but it is not normal. Sorry.
*Rant over*

K-pop Discography Deep Dives: WJSN
Tumblr media
A Disclaimer: I was planning, when I first started Tumblr, to be a lurker, but then I began an office job and needed something to listen to to keep myself occupied. And then, I started going through entire K-pop groups’ repertoires, album by album, and jotting down my thoughts. And then, I stumbled into K-pop tumblr and decided, you know what, there’s at least four people on this hell site who would read in depth rants about these discographies and at least five who wouldn’t read it and then get mad because it’s kind of our job as K-pop fans. My lukewarm takes should be taken with an entire silo of salt and the knowledge that this is completely for fun and occupying my very bored, very neurodivergent brain. All this to say, for the love of god, I’m a sleep-deprived student and I don’t have time for internet hate, so don’t kill me. With that being said, enjoy!
Here are my credentials: unusually, for a girl group, I have very few. I’ve listened to WJSN before, and I know a decent amount of title tracks and a couple b-sides. I would say I know them best from my half-watch of Queendom 2 (I’m a fan of Loona and Gfriend, so I was more focused on them), which WJSN did win. I was impressed with them there, and I decided that I wanted to learn more about them.
WJSN was formed in late 2015 as a Korean-Chinese collaborative between Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment. The members are divided into four units, one for each letter. First is Wonder, with Cheng Xiao, Bona, and Dayoung. Second is Joy, with Xuanyi, Eunseo, and Yeoreum. Third is Sweet, with Seola, Exy, and Soobin. And fourth is Natural, with Meiqi, Luda, and Dawon. After these units were formed, a 13th member, Yeonjung, was added as well. After being on hiatus since 2018, the three Chinese members, Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi officially left the group in early 2023. Sorry, that was a lot of names, so deep breaths and let’s do this.
Tumblr media
They officially debuted in 2016 with MoMoMo, which is one of the most bubblegum-y bubblegum songs I’ve seen in a while. It’s basically a k-pop stereotype at this point: lots of aegyo, completely coordinated school girl clothes, short skirts, childish love, and very poppy beats. I associate WJSN with more ethereal pop, so this was a (somewhat unwelcome) surprise for me. As often happens to me in k-pop, while I did appreciate its comic book style animation and humor, the excessive aegyo made me uncomfortable (see my review of TXT’s Cat and Dog or LOONA’s Hi High). This isn’t the song’s fault; it’s exactly what it’s supposed to be, but it does mean I won’t be listening to it again.
I’m unsure if Catch Me is also a single or just an opportunity for a dance practice, but it embraces the other side of k-pop stereotypes: a sort-of anti-drop, girl-crush, uncomfortably-sexualized…thing? that tries a bit too hard to be cool. WJSN’s talent elevates it, but even they can only do so much with a song that doesn’t have any character.
The 1st EP, Would You Like?, starts with an intro, Space Cowgirl, that I actually liked more than MoMoMo, and I wish more of its self-assured, smooth synths carried into the song. I liked parts of some of the songs, like the twinkling piano and extended bridge in Tick Tock, but most of them sounded very similar to other songs I’ve heard, and so didn’t stick out to me all that much. I could name at least five exactly like Take My Breath.
Tumblr media
Secret begins the sound that I know from WJSN, still drawing on the poppiness, cutesiness, and high vocals of MoMoMo, but pairing it with more toned-on synths, more pointed voices, and more poised dancing, a combination that would become their staple in the next few years. It’s quite interesting to see it here feeling a little less polished. I totally get why they gained the nickname “Cosmic Girls” now, with all the space inspiration here, and while the song itself is nothing groundbreaking, I really liked that lead-in to the last chorus.
The Secret, the EP, has a couple songs I liked. BeBe leans a bit too far into aegyo for me personally, but I enjoy its boundless energy and catchiness. Also, that harmonizing in the last chorus? Sign me up. I also enjoyed the frizzy electronic background of Robot, which reminded me a bit of an f(x) song, although it felt more restrained than one of theirs.
I Wish has a slightly more funk-inspired opening than Secret, and while it still has the roots of aegyo, I’d say it follows the pattern of their songs slowly getting more mature. Still got the schoolgirl outfits, though. The chorus and its “tell me why” is pretty catchy, I will say, and I appreciated a lot of the MV’s visuals in the social media posts, floating lanterns, and emojis.
Tumblr media
From. WJSN’s Say Yes caught my attention with its finger-snapping background and slightly Latin-pop-esque warm acoustic guitar. I thought it provided a good contrast to their very electronic synth-heavy music, and made me appreciate their vocals a lot more, especially Yeonjung and Dayoung. The “juseyo, juseyo” is stuck in my head now, and I’m not mad about it. It makes a great addition to my sleep playlist.
Kiss Me’s intro had me intrigued right off the bat, with its fun surf guitar background, and its continuing through the song made this one stand out. I also liked the harsher hand-clapping percussion mixed with the pop, and that the chorus felt like a much more natural progression of the verses and pre-chorus. Still not a fan of the rapping, which comes out of nowhere, but overall this was a great summer track and it got stuck in my head.
Happy is a return to the bubbly, kind-of sporty concept of MoMoMo that was so popular in mid-3rd gen (Red Velvet’s Happiness, TWICE’s Cheer Up, or Fromis_9’s FUN, for example), and I’d be lying if I said I was as happy to see it as the song wants me to be. I definitely liked the humor and the ultra-saturation of the music video, and ended up laughing a good few times. But overall, I’m not a fan of this concept or this type of song, and this song does nothing to change my mind. Also, I feel like the chorus, though it’s pretty good, doesn’t fit in with the rest of the song. I think it’s the sudden tempo change.
Tumblr media
Happy Moment is a full album, so there’s a lot to talk about. I liked the bubbly distortion in Miracle, (honestly I wonder why it wasn’t a single, because it really feels like one), the vocalizing in Mr. BadBoy’s choruses, the minimalistic background of Babyface’s verses, the roller skating rush of Geeminy, and especially the lovely musical catharsis of Closer To You (damn, Yeonjung, what a note to end on!). Again, though, what I really liked were parts and besides Closer To You, I didn’t like any song enough to consider it a hidden gem. I know that Happy leans very much into aegyo, but the names of a lot of these songs felt a bit too babyish even for that, and I don’t think that the album needed to be so long, because so many of its tracks felt like filler. I would rather have a five or six track, great-all-the-way-through EP like, say Sunmi’s Warning or SEVENTEEN’s Haeng-Geurae, than a half-as-good album twice that long.
Dreams Come True, I’m happy to say, builds on the good that both Kiss Me and I Wish started, working in more interesting percussion and more ethereal synths. Funnily enough, it goes so far into understated that I didn’t realize the chorus had started until it was almost over, and while it’s got a good base, I think that it needs a stronger, more obvious hook to turn into a classic. I did really like that delicate bridge, though.
Dream Your Dream, the EP, starts strong with Love O’Clock, which doesn’t bother with a drawn out build-up, instead rushing forward right from the first moment. I liked the harmonizing, the strong drumbeat, and the catchiness. I also enjoyed Renaissance’s swirling and soaring vocals (another b-side that could’ve been a single) and Thawing, despite its odder sound effects, charmed me with its earnestness.
Tumblr media
Save Me, Save You was the first WJSN song I heard, and is probably the one that best sums up their style. It starts soft, almost not there in the first verse, then tiptoes its way through the pre-chorus, and with a couple drum beats, that magical chorus takes over and suddenly you’re floating. As mentioned, their songs are often a bit too bubbly or understated for me, but I can acknowledge when a song does its style well, and this one absolutely does. I didn’t even mind the rap! I like the setting of the magic school and the incredibly fast shifting in the eyes between the bridge and the last chorus, but I wish it drew itself out more, to make the best use of that excellent vocalizing.
From WJ Please?, the EP, I really had a good time nodding my head to You, You, You, especially during its bridge and last chorus and I added it to my roller skating playlist. I also enjoyed the hints of flamenco and layered strings in the background of I-Yah, a surprisingly lovely sound for the title. It really reminded me of I Knew It by Sonamoo, one of my favorite Latin-pop inspired K-pop tracks. Masquerade also has a great use of strings, this time combined with a gentle piano, and Hurry Up uses a brightly jazzy beat to add some contrast. These four together absolutely make this my favorite EP so far, which is pretty funny, as all these songs are better than the title.
La La Love’s Carnival setting is interesting, and is the decision to have a pre-chorus that leans into sing-talk. The choice mostly works and doesn’t interrupt the good flow that the song has, and I like the high vocalizing that twinkles around the chorus. On the whole, the song is pretty enjoyable and gentle, but, like I usually do, I wish it had more of a hook that would make it stick in my head. Completely different from the last EP, I didn’t have a hidden gem for this one, though I thought 12 O’Clock was nice.
Tumblr media
With how much I liked their last summer comeback, I was excited for Boogie Up. The song is pretty upbeat and on the whole, reminds me of a much more bubbly version of Red Flavor by Red Velvet. It’s catchy, but it has a bit too empty of a chorus for me, and doesn’t innovate on a pretty tried-and-true pop formula enough to stand out. I do like the fun instrumental and the bridge, though. Their bridges are almost always pretty great.
From the EP For The Summer, I honestly really liked the song For The Summer with its bright and flouncy energy (though as I often do, I thought the rap was unnecessary), and the horns were a nice touch. Let’s Dance follows in the stead of WJ Please’s great, Latin-pop inspired b-sides, though I don’t think it’s quite as unique as those.
As You Wish has a very bouncy beat from the beginning, and its excellent electronic sound draws from disco. Its pre-chorus build is great as well, and the chorus delivers, making it both one of my favorite titles so far and what I’m sure will become a fixture on my roller-skating playlists. Its last chorus is delightfully bright, but my favorite part is absolutely that outro, which brings together the vocals and the instrumentals perfectly and should’ve been so much longer. From the EP, also titled As You Wish, I liked the vocal showcase and twinkling piano in Lights Up, and the drumline beat of Don’t Touch.
Tumblr media
Butterfly is another song I already knew by WJSN, and its bubbly energy works surprisingly well for me. I think this is the first of their title tracks that has a deeper meaning than an average love song, and I’m very happy to see it. There’s never enough songs about freedom and being yourself, in my opinion. The last chorus’ vocalizations, as often in WJSN’s singles, elevates the song greatly, and its fizzy instrumental brings everything together. The visuals of flowing white dresses and puffy clouds are a great addition too.
From Neverland, while I enjoyed the back and forth, rushing energy of Hola and the string-led instrumentation of Where You Are, my hidden gem was absolutely Pantomime. I first heard it while watching Queendom, and though I do definitely prefer the more 20’s jazz-inspired, more theatrical version from their stage there, there’s still a lot to love here. I especially enjoy how clipped and off-beat it is, setting it apart from WJSN other’s b-sides.
Unnatural is a bit of a darker counterpart to Butterfly, also about not quite fitting into normalcy (hence the title). I really liked the rap in this one, and how well it fit into the tempo. Also, the way the pre-chorus pulls back and then rushes forward is great. I like the more minimalistic instrumentals and how they let the vocals flow and speak for themselves. Overall, I think it’s one of their strongest outings. From Unnatural, the EP, I really liked the mix between WJSN’s high voices and the self-assured tone and beat in Last Dance, though I wish the instrumental was more distinctive.

Last Sequence is, at time of writing, WJSN’s most recent comeback, from a year ago. It also falls into the more minimalistic electro-pop synth style of their last few singles, which of course I’m in favor of. I do feel like the chorus needed more of a lead-in than it has, but besides that, I do really like this one. As always, its bridge is great and so is the lead-in to the last chorus (the yeongwohni, yeongwohni, yeongwohni is stuck in my head now). I didn’t have a hidden gem for this comeback, as it’s only a 3-song single.
I’m glad I did this! Like I said, I didn’t know much about WJSN before this review. But, I’ve learned that they were an important part in making what I now consider a very classic 3rd generation K-pop sound, and their music became the blueprint for many groups afterward. I’ve watched some interviews and had some good laughs, and even seen a couple compilations of their best performances on Queendom. I definitely liked their later music more than their earlier, though, and after hearing their work, I’m sad that they don’t come back nearly as often as they used to.
My Top 5 songs are Butterfly, Last Sequence, Kiss Me, I-Yah, and Hurry Up, with Pantomime as an honorable mention . WJSN gets an 8.25 out of 10 from me. I think that on the whole, their songs are pretty good and there were very few I actively disliked. The biggest issue I face is that I listen to and analyze So. Much. K-pop. (probably thousands of songs by now) and because of that, only the groups that do something unique or innovative, have incredible voices, self-produce, or consistently discuss important subjects in their work really stick with me. WJSN is very talented, but while they have a niche, they don’t really add anything new to what’s been done time and time again.
Tumblr media
Next time, I have a very special soloist review coming up, that’s going to come out on December 18th (a day late). If you know your k-pop and my blog, you can probably guess what it is. It’ll be a bit different from a usual review, but I felt like it was time. Tschüss!

For the SE HC ask: 4!!!
Going for SE Askboard @h0lly-hued-s0ul has made!
Ik it's a bit late but better late than never dkfbdokf
Also going for most of the youngsters bc they're my little precious weirdos uu
Offer a hobby-related headcannon for any character.
Soul
We should all be aware by now that soul is a huge music nerd even if he's pretending to be "just casual" About it but somehow I could even imagine that his guilty pleasure is also baking since... Have you seen the cute little tea and cakes he sometimes brings Maka when she's studying for exams like crazy??? He claims he just buys them from "that one little bakery" That Maka suspiciously never finds but in secret (not really) he really does them by himself and is proud when they're well liked!!
Maka
She's deffenly a little sport nerd kinda girl that got to like things like Basketball and soccer/football quite a lot, but she also would still enjoy a good book (or ten) at times as well next to solving crossword puzzles and other Puzzles and riddles!
Basically everything that makes her Brain go brrrr! Also idk how much it's connected to the hobby aspect, but I hat girl would have Duolingo on her phone and use it almost religiously every evening before bed!
Oh but also she would have a big knack for poetry and writing overall even if she's sometimes quite shy about it since Soul and Black star made fun of it a few times-
Tsubaki
Everything around gardening and cooking???
She also would simply enjoy long walks and nice quality time with her friends since Tsubaki really is this comfy person that likes a calm life but also the fun and more adventureous aspects of it;;;
A part of me can also imagine that she'd enjoy something like Yoga and Ice skating a lot when she gets the chance to do it in peace-
Black star
Sports nerd! Everything that resolves around movement and putting his brain on serotonin 24/7 with the bees on crack he apparently has in his butt-
But also we already saw that he also enjoys comics a LOT and would totally be into video games as well even if he would loose to patty constantly!
Kid
He'd actually like things that put his mind off ease? Like he very much enjoys cleaning much more in a healthy but for many weird manner since who likes cleaning am I right?? But also is very open and keen to things like Chess and plenty of other board games he most likely plays with Liz and Patty almost every Saturday night unless Liz manages to escape :')
Also hey! I can imagine him liking to draw a lot as well together with Patty Duke while listening to murder mystery podcasts-
Liz
Shopping and dancing Q U E E N!
Ik it's basic but hear me out! She just loves fashion a lot and can give people a lot of advice for this topic and would occasionally do makeovers if you let her!
She just blooms so much doing that and seeing how much people can show their other sides as a well! Also my bc especially is that it was initially her idea when Crona was kidnapped on a shopping spree and she would even just offer Ox so many hair stuff in hopes he'll finally STOP shaving it all off like bro.. PLEASE!
Other than that she also got those moves and surprisingly knows a lot about music as well so her, soul and Kilik can actually connect and vibe together super easily and well!
Patty
Again, patty is a huge art person!
Of course she likes other things like beating people up with a passion, but she just loves to be creative and takes almost every medium bc why not trying everything and see how it goes??? Life is too short to be boring and plain!! Patty would most likely also like to bake as well but her creations are.... Experimental to say the least-
At least Stein and Ragnarok do like her stuff weirdly enough..
Kim
Also a little doodle enthusiast but she really would have a knack for Crochet and knitting too since Jackie has taught her the latter! She would rather die than to admit her hobbies and pleasures but she's a big softie when it comes to her interests!
God forbid people would even find out that she likes "girly" Stuff like figure skating and dancing as well.. Oh the horror!
Omg she would also have a secret love for flower arrangements as well but that's just me having more lore and hcs for her past as well that I won't (and likely never will) fully elaborate on :'DD
Jackie
Similar to Kim she loves knitting but also has a big talent and interest in Tayloring as well?? That girl probably had a bit horse phase as well and would actually love to get back into it at some point but a horse in the middle of Nevada is a little too much to ask for-
A bicycle would do as well I guess???
Idk why but Jackie seems a little bit of a person that enjoys Theatre and Musicals a lot as well so take that for what it-
Also little side note I want to add bc it's sth very dear and personal to me but glass engraving and the like?? It just fits quite a bit to her qvq
Kilik
Batic and Linol printed shirts!
The shirts he wears? Self made! The necklace?? Probably as well!! Also another music and Sports enthusiast even if he's more into more combat related sports rather than just running around for a good time!
He seeks the thrill and the surprising so unless you throw something at him out of the blue, he'd just see it as plain and simple training-
The drums are also his hobby but it's less than a hc than it is actually canon in the manga;;;
Overall he's pretty much an everyman kinda guy that has a good amount of Hobbies and interests that overlap with many others he sees as friends!
Fire & Thunder
They're still young as hell so I can't say AS much about them as I like to but they give a lot of crafty energy and would probably get a collecting hobby phase as well like for crystals and all!
Less for the esoteric aspect but more for the minerals itself!
Ox
Again not as much of an HC than it is a fact, but that guy takes a lot or enjoyment into research and other things that make his brain tingle like chess for example! Like he just LOVES burying himself into old history and folklore about plenty of topics and cultures and can easily spend days in it if Harvar wouldn't remind him to eat something in between-
Again I really don't know why, but something in me also knocks at my brain doors and continuesly shoves the HC in my head that Ox actually has a talent to actually draw?? Not like Patty where it's very imaginary and expressive, but more in a sense of scenes and architecture!! Basically pretty black and white and stuff!!
Harvar
It's super ironic but like Kim he actually has some hobbies he either won't admit to or people simply wouldn't believe it since why would a guy like him he interested in something like THAT???
Like liking to go swimming is one thing people could still get behind bc he hates boredom with a passion so it's good to stay active but him actually being into exact the same comics as black star is just super funny in my and it's very much the absolute opposite of Harvar sooo..
Omg but on top of that just.. Imagine him actually do liking video games but nothing like a souls game, but f*cking animal Crossing-
Of course he also likes research and chess a lot like Ox (even tho he's by far more competitive there) but he screams like Modelling as well! (The crafty stuff like building trains or Lego etc)
He just SUCKS at art tho which actually frustrated him-
Bonus
Crona
Crona most likely would catch some interest for poetry and other writing related things as well since they can actually express themselves much better with it without having to speak about it and they don't even have to show it to others as well.. It actually already helps that it exists in the first place and that they have something they can look at like "I made that!"
Aka bullet journaling sounds like sth tame enough for them but still sth to keep their mind somewhere unrelated to u know.. The whole childhood ordeal-
Basically they would enjoy many things that won't put Crona into the spotlight or that is to be shared forcefully so even if it's just reading something, it's just.. Nice;;
Also please give Crona sth calm like Animal Crossing-
Let them share an island with Harvar or Maka dkxbfodndp
Gopher
He sees something that peeks his (or Noah's) intetest, he HAS to overanalyze it and write every crucial detail down!
Like we don't just talk about one smarty little journal! I'm talking about whole Bookshelves worth of Infos written by that puppet alone!! Even his calligraphy and poetry/writing skills and hobbies are top notch and would rub it under Makas nose a LOT!
Hell he would do it so much that even Ox would have to remind him that he was meant to be Makas super annoying rival and not him pfffff!
(You could say that annoying Maka is also a passion of Gopher)
He would actually like to just casually fly and travel around a lot as well even if it's something he just does to get a job done.. If he'd focus more on the aspect itself, there would be much more appreciation etc!!
Also God forbid but he'd be into dnd as well-
My brain tells me to so it must be true!/j
THANKS FOR COMING TO MY INCOHERENT RAMBLING!!!

Your hottest Sonic takes?
Most of these are ones you'll already know, but here goes. I'll number them in no real order because bullet points always get lumped together when I use them no matter how I space them, which bothers me lol. And as always, these are just the ones that come immediately to mind, as I'm sure to have plenty more (I'm not a contrarian for contrarian's sake, I swear D:).
1. Just because I take faithfulness to the game canon seriously - hence my disapproval for adaptations that change shit for the sake of changing shit out of a misplaced sense of superiority - doesn't mean I think the game canon is perfect. Putting aside the obvious questionable quality of certain installments, there are also certain traditions in the games that I don't exactly appreciate, and refuse to tolerate them just because I'm apparently expected to (ie: the friends standing around being cheerleaders while Super Sonic does his thing, Eggman being usurped and/or forced to team up with Sonic so damn often, characters having a limited range of interactions with other characters, certain characters being rather obnoxiously OP, etc).
2. IDW Sonic is still a holier than thou asswipe whose actions and overall behaviour don't line up with how great and virtuous he supposedly is. Prime Sonic is still an unbearable dumbass, and the show and characters are grilling him for the completely wrong reasons.
3. If your only idea for redeeming Tails is making him a yes-man for Sonic, then I don't think you actually care about Tails aside from how good he makes Sonic look.
4. Shadow coming back after his not-death doesn't undermine SA2's ending. But him coming back so soon afterwards kind of does. They should have waited a lot longer before bringing him back.
5. Rouge is not a villain. Rouge is not a villain. Rouge is not a villain. And outside of her jewel obsession, she's not even that majorly anti-heroic after SA2.
6. Eggman is a villain. Eggman is a villain. Eggman is a villain. And you can flesh him out without softening him up. Pre-Frontiers games already did it FFS.
7. Just because Cream is a little girl, and acts appropriately for the most part compared to Tails, doesn't mean she should be infantilized by the other characters and by the writing. She's more capable than she's given credit for.
8. Merlina isn't that amazing. Better than the Mephiles-tier villains of course, but she still fell short of her unique concept.
9. Erazor Djinn AKA Qui-Gon Djinn AKA Tonic Djinn AKA Other Djinn Pun is the best villain who isn't Eggman, an Eggman robot, affiliated with Eggman, or Chaos.
10. I've made my apathy for Silver well known during the last few days cause of all the IDW Silver discourse, but I'll take it one spicier step further: when people defend him by saying he earned his place, I think "...Did he?"
Make no mistake, he absolutely does not deserve to be treated like garbage by the IDW crew either way, but compared to other recurring game characters, including similarly divisive ones like Shadow, I've always felt as though he was shoehorned into later games because he was already set to as the hot new character of the initially anticipated '06, rather than earning his place more organically if you get me. And when people say how awesome it was that he almost killed Sonic effortlessly twice in '06, I ask myself when Sonic getting textbook Worf'd in a game with his name on it was considered a good thing. I mean, is that the level of '06 stanning we're at now?
Or maybe I'm just letting my bitterness at (IMO) better characters remaining one-offs do the talking. I'm willing to admit that I am indeed bitter about that. :P (Also, I'd like to apologise to Silver fans for harping on about him like this a lot as of late. I really have nothing against his level-headed fans, and I still sympathise with them on his poor treatment in the comics despite my apathy towards him.)
11. Forces is one of Eggman's best showings despite the underutilized premise. That fans' only idea for "fixing" the game is usurping him with Infinite and/or the Phantom Ruby says a lot about how much they want him to be out of the way.
12. I don't understand why the in-game racing banter in TSR is taken so seriously. Speaking as someone who otherwise takes characterization very seriously, this is like if people started shitting on Mario Kart because of Luigi's death stare.
13. Other games are objectively worse (like '06 and Chronicles), but Frontiers is my personal least favourite Sonic game for... well, nearly everything about it. And neither Sage or The End are as deep or as fans make them out to be.
14. At this point, I separate the IDW characters into two categories. The first category consists of the characters who I just hate or find lame full stop (Surge and Kit, Rough and Tumble, Mimic). The second category consists of the characters that I think could have had potential if it weren't for the awful writing, that I begrudgingly feel somewhat bad for as a result, and as such would be willing to attempt to redeem if I could (Tangle, Whisper, Lanolin, Starline before he got turned into Toothpaste Snively).
15. I respect Daniel Barnes, his work and understanding of Sonic's character in particular is certainly of a higher quality than that of Flynn and Stanley, and he also has more integrity to be sure. But I can't currently buy into the full hype since I wasn't that interested in Scrapnik Island, and since I'm very cautious of the golden pedestal mentality, since that's how people like Flynn got as far as they have in the first place, I really wish the fans who are as tired of Flynn and Co's antics as I am would keep that in mind.
16. I prefer What I'm Made Of over Live & Learn.
17. I'm not a literal "Classic Good, Modern Bad" type of fan, but the things that I appreciate most about Sonic games tend to be associated more in the public consciousness - at least in terms of gameplay, use of playable characters, and aesthetics - with classic and classic-in-spirit games.
18. AoStH is better than SatAM because it had Long John Baldry. *dab* And SatAM was the first serious split in the franchise, and the influence of said split continues to this day with the Freedom Fighter stans and their desire to make everything like SatAM/Archie, meaning I wholeheartedly wish this show never existed. *double dab*
19. I don't have a guilty pleasure, because that would imply I feel any guilt for enjoying them. I enjoy 3D Blast as a fun little time waster without any shame, and I have ironic enjoyment for ShtH, also without any shame.
20. If you use mandates as an excuse for bad writing, I officially cannot trust anything you have to say on the writing, the characters, and probably the entire franchise.

An Open Book - Author Steve Raglan/William Afton x Bookseller Mike Schmidt AU
Rating - Explicit for sexual content
Summary - Mike Schmidt has been consumed by author Steve Raglan’s novels ever since he first began reading them; he’s even more infatuated with the man behind the stories.
Tonight the small downtown bookshop Mike works at is hosting a meet and greet autograph session with that very author. It’s a unique opportunity to share what’s been on his mind for so long, if he can just get the words right.
Also available on AO3

Mike Schmidt looks at his reflection in the mirror and sighs, unknotting his tie and beginning again.
It needs to be perfect because you only get one chance to make a first impression, isn’t that how the saying goes? Nothing is ever out of place with the author he’s about to meet in person. Every word on every page is always carefully chosen, every featured image of Steve Raglan himself the perfect composition of light and shadow, clothing pressed and hair carefully arranged, although he supposes these things might be better credited to the photographers and makeup artists and such, but still; it’s his one chance to get this right.
His fingers are clumsy on the knot and he thinks about his favorite author’s hands. Those perfect fingers, he’s never seen hands that gorgeous on a man anywhere. Long and shapely, perfectly manicured, contrasting with palms large and strong looking tapering back to narrow wrists. He’s seen those hands wrapped around coffee mugs during television interviews and they comically dwarf whatever he’s holding. Mike tries not to think about those hands holding some part of him—this is a blatant lie, is this how you’re going to be today, just lying about those times in the quiet dark of your bedroom—tries not to linger on the memory of those long legs folded while Steve’s sitting in the guest seat next to the television host, the legs that do not stop because there’s a foot difference between Raglan’s height and his own; a veritable tree to climb and fuck does he want to, so very, very much. His mind wanders to the way those stretch of thighs ease apart, more and more as the string of tedious, scripted questions the author gracefully answers continue, making room for the junk in that drawer tucked behind the waistband—do not keep thinking about this, there isn’t time, you’re already late for work as it is—the movement of his abdomen when he laughs at some joke, the row of buttons shifting; the press of a fist to his mouth to stifle the laughter; the way the older man adjusts his glasses—or, Heaven forbid, briefly removes them—making it easier to stare into those pale, wide set blue eyes.
Mike’s tie looks worse than ever but fuck it, it’s going to have to do, he can’t waste any more time on his appearance. He pins the badge with his employer’s logo and his first name on the chest pocket and shrugs into a dark denim jacket before grabbing his car keys off the kitchen counter. His rusty sedan’s engine groans in protest at being woken up in the cold weather and he spares another few moments to scrape the stubborn frost from his windshield, the wan sunlight that had existed earlier never reaching the window sheltered beneath the carport, the cold air’s temperature never raising sufficiently enough to melt the ice. He should have gotten up much earlier. The time had really gotten away from him this afternoon.
Three hours until the author makes his appearance for the autographs at the bookstore the young man works in and he still has nothing properly rehearsed to say to the man. There’s a dog eared copy of his favorite book on the passenger seat beside him. He’d liked the writing before the man himself; liked the way he arranges the words and builds the character and creates the stories. And then he’d seen the first image of him on the rear flap of the dust jacket as he’d devoured that first novel and it had been all over for him. Every weakness of his all rolled into one person.
Mike’s tried to focus on other people; he’d even picked someone up in a dive bar once. The resemblance was as vague as could be, but when you’re straining against your fly and the liquor’s sliding down smoother and smoother, such a contrast to the rough inviting smile offered and the scrape of beard in the alley outside, you’re grateful for the man on his knees in front of you. Threading fingers through graying hair, the texture is wrong, you know it instinctively, but you can make your body pretend and get some release. Your mind is not so easily sated.
Mike largely ignores the remark his manager makes about his tardiness as he rushes into the shop, mumbling a distracted apology. The display needs to be set up and he does so, prioritizing the latest novel, stacking extra copies on the table and the end cap shelves nearby. There’s a sign announcing the time window for autographs and a picture of the author and he has to force himself to stop staring.
His palms are sweaty and he drags them against his dress pants and tugs on the cuffs of his charcoal dress shirt. Suddenly he wishes time would slow a bit. He’s not ready for this.
The manager is the one who gets to direct the tall figure towards the display, lucky bastard. A wool dress coat slips gracefully from his shoulders and is draped over the back of the chair, the dark material spilling like ink onto the carpet. Steve unwinds a crimson scarf from around his neck and this joins the other article of clothing. He shoves at the sleeves of his dress shirt; perhaps he’s a bit too warm, the bookstore does get to be stuffy at times, cramped as it is—and those willowy wrists are exposed, the pale blue veins threaded beneath the skin so prominent and Mike’s mouth goes dry, his pulse racing. He’s hovering behind one of the bookshelves nearby, pretending to straighten the rows of literature. He should approach him now, before the line forms, but he delays too long and a customer draws his attention away.
The entire evening proceeds like this; missed opportunities, lulls in the crowd that he could fill but he hesitates and the moment is lost again. Mike’s eyes are frantically watching the clock above the register, the sweep of hands alarmingly fast, until there are mere minutes left, the shoppers and attendees finally dispersing. Mike grabs his copy of the book he’d stashed behind the counter and makes his way to the table. The man’s fingers are ink stained and Mike can’t stop staring as those smudges of indigo.
“Would you mind…?” the young man begins, setting the book down on the table.
“Of course.” His voice; this was another thing that drove Mike mad. It was such a coarse rasp. He loved the scratch of that sound against his ears. “Who am I making this out to? Is this for yourself?”
“Um, yeah. Mike.” He’d nearly forgotten his own name there for a minute, pointing awkwardly to his name tag. The author repeats his name, lingering on the first consonant. His handwriting is elegant cursive, full of loops and curves, neat and precise. His own is so much uglier, cramped and barely legible.
“This is a well read copy,” the older man observes, flipping through a few of the pages. Many are dogeared.
“Yeah, it’s my favorite.” He mumbles, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I was wondering when you were going to make your way over here.” The man’s attention shifts from the battered book to Mike’s face and he flushes.
“You…you noticed…”
“That’s what I do, Mike. Authors note the details around them. You’ve struggled with that tie today.” His cheeks are flaming now, he can feel it. “Maybe struggled with other things too.” He smirks and Mike’s stomach absolutely plunges. That smile, so satisfied; he’s got him completely dissected and he’s barely spoken. “I don’t suppose you know of a good coffee shop in the area that’s open at this hour, or…”
“Uh, yeah. There’s a place up the street that’s open until—”
“—When you’re finished here. The store is closing soon, yes? You can guide me there yourself.” He stares at Mike, one eyebrow lifting slightly.
He’s not talking about getting coffee you idiot, Mikes brain reprimands him. Fuck, this was actually happening.
“I think you had better go see what your manager wants. He looks rather perturbed. I’ll be waiting outside.” He stands, gathering his scarf and coat, slinging them over one arm. Mike’s book still sits on the table and Steve picks it up, handing the copy to the younger man. His index finger drags against one of Mike’s in just the briefest of caresses, a secret smile full of promise forming before he’s moving towards the exit, calling a last farewell to the manager.
“It was a good turn out,” Mike’s boss says after Raglan leaves. “I had no idea he was this popular.”
“He’s a good writer,” Mike murmurs, clutching his signed book against his chest, a shallow shield over his racing heart.
***
There are only three cars left in the parking lot by the time Mike finishes dismantling the autograph set up, unsure of what to do with the sign; maybe he can give that a new home at some point but for now it’s tucked away in the back room between cartons of books waiting to be unpacked and displayed. His own rust bucket is close to the manager’s much newer SUV and there’s an absolute boat of a vintage luxury sedan at the far end of the row that must belong to Steve.
Mike waves farewell to his boss, unpinning the name badge and setting that and the book down on the passenger seat, waiting for the manager to leave before he shuts the door and stuffs his hands in his jacket pockets. He wishes he had stopped by the restroom to make sure his hair looked ok. He should have brought some gum, a mint, something.
He walks towards the other car briskly. It’s cold and he’s already losing his nerve and he’s more than a little impatient. The handle lifts, the door already unlocked and ready for his entrance. He sinks into the leather seating and the door pulls shut with a faint creak of hinges. He forces himself to look at the other man, at the person he’s coveted for so many months, noting the aviators have been removed already, the gold framed lenses resting still unfolded on the dashboard. The coat and scarf are in the back. Raglan blinks, slow and steady, his lips twitching in amusement. He likes teasing, Mike thinks. He knows him so well already. He’s an absolute open book. How ironic.
The older man reaches out, one of those glorious hands seating against Mike’s cheek. His thumb pulls his bottom lip down slowly, like tugging a window shade towards the sill, millimeter by millimeter. He pushes it into Mike’s mouth gradually, dragging against his tongue.
The younger man grabs his hand, sucks that phalange slowly, his eyes locked with Steve’s, nerves forgotten. His erection is already shoving impatiently against its confines. Zero to sixty in as many seconds. Raglan wraps his free hand around Mike’s tie and tugs his mouth closer, thumb slipping free of those pursed, sucking lips. His mouth seals over Mike’s, tongue thrusting between his lips and caressing the interior. Mike moans, reaching up to cradle the back of Steve’s neck, toying with his hair. It’s so silky soft, so far from every texture he’d tried pretending with before. He whimpers when he feels the older man working on the button and zipper of his fly, the deft fingers sliding over his boxer briefs and then wrapping around and squeezing his length and his hips jerk forward involuntarily.
“Well, aren’t you pretty,” Steve rasps beside his cheek, now tucked into the waistband and stroking his leaking cock, just lazy, loose pumps in the circle of fingers that encase him. “You’ve been thinking about this all evening, haven’t you?”
“Yes…fuck…” The novelist’s fingers tighten, stroking properly, curling over the crown just like his body enjoys each time he reaches the end of the shaft.
“And for how long before that?” The older man worries Mike’s bottom lip, tugging gently with his teeth.
“Months…a year…more, I don’t know…” It’s hard to think with those fingers and that mouth working against him so well, that sultry sandpaper voice designed for sinful words caressing him.
“Such a loyal fan for so long. I’m flattered.” Mike can feel his lips curve into a smile before they capture his again. “I think that dedication should be rewarded, don’t you?”
Mike could easily spill right then; any one aspect of the other man would be more than enough to send him over and when they were all combined…but it’s not what he wants the most right then. “I want you to cum in my mouth.”
A little surprised huff and another smile. “Right now? Before you…”
“Yes.” Mike’s fingers tighten in the other man’s hair.
“Far be it from me to refuse such a generous offer. Just know that I always finish what I start.” He kisses Mike again before relaxing his grip, tugging his hand free and easing back into his seat, lifting the lever tucked into the side so the seat reclines and offers more space. The windows are completely fogged up now.
Mike reaches for the opening of the writer’s pants. He’d been fairly certain of the man’s above average size before given his height and the broad stretch of neck, but now his hands have confirmation, his next intake of breath sharp when he realizes just what he’s promised to swallow down but it doesn’t halt him from shifting, bending over and lapping at the head before his lips wrap around the heated flesh and stroke down. Steve sighs, pelvis moving a bit, one hand siphoning through Mike’s soft brown curls. Mike doesn’t have a lot of practice with this; with any intimacy really. He’s watched porn of course, but that’s more pretending like the man he’d picked up at the bar and it’s just not the same as this, his fantasy become reality. He pushes his mouth closer to the base, eliciting a soft suctioning sound as the back of his throat collides with hardened tissue. He repeats the process several times, nostrils flaring in search of more oxygen, gaining more ground each time, his body adjusting to the length and girth of the other man. The gentle caress in his hair becomes firmer, the author’s hips now rising to meet Mike’s mouth, fucking into it, still gentle, letting him get more acclimated. There’s so much saliva, the thick kind that spills free when the gag reflex is strained, coating Steve’s cock messily.
He finally releases him, gasping for air, fingers curling around to stroke that slickened prick while the older man hums appreciatively. Mike rests for a couple minutes before beginning again, diving right back down. He can hear the other man’s breathing changing tempo as he gets closer, the hips rocking against his mouth more insistent, thrusting roughly and battering his throat. Mike’s fingers dig into one thigh and he moans encouragingly. He’s got him on the brink; he can feel the tremor starting along the muscles of the leg he’s grasping before Steve curses, hips giving one final push upward before his seed pulses into the younger man’s eager mouth. He swallows it all, an impressive amount of cum if he’s being honest, finally withdrawing with one last caress of lips against head, colllecting the last traces of release that ooze from the opening.
Mike leans back, his mouth still tingling, throat slightly aching. His lips feel swollen and his spit has trailed over his cheeks and down his neck. Steve smiles at him, a lazy, satisfied curve of his mouth before he leans over and licks his way back into the other man’s.
“I think you should cum for me now, Mike.” He purrs his name; there’s no other way to describe the way that sound, a smooth rumble of desire that accompanies Steve’s hands on his cock again beneath his underwear. His lips move to his ear, lapping at the whorl of flesh, sucking and tugging the lobe gently with his teeth. He whispers his name again and that does it, the orgasm wracking his body as he spills over the author’s expert fingers.
Mike pants, struggling to recover as the writer eases back into his seat behind the wheel, cranking it back into the upright position and watching him refasten his pants over damp briefs. Mike hesitates, not sure what he’s supposed to do now; if he’s just supposed to walk away, this heated intimate encounter a one time thing that’s already come and gone.
“You mentioned something about a coffee shop down the street that’s still open. Did you want to maybe stop by?” The invitation is casual but Mike clings to it desperately, nodding.
The story isn’t over.

Alright! The last poison: the Jellyfish bitch herself, Actress/Fictional!Lusamine.
When I say this would be an info dump, it will be an info dump.
Tldr: Lusabitch becomes besties with SpongeBob, cools tf down, diverge more, gets angsted by the paracosm's lore, all because of this one comic I found in kym.
The bitch has been through a lot. She's been around since day one of Screen Universe and even some time before that. She's one of the late comers to the previous paracosm and got carried over to Screen Universe during the transition.
Funny enough, I despise the bitch's canon self and still do. But her daydream counterpart diverge almost beyond recognition that I can't see her the same way anymore. You could say she became a fully grown para along side with SpongeBob and a few others.
Speaking of SpongeBob, my man is the one who started her development and divergence as a para! If it wasn't for him, idk what I could have done to her instead. Bro thought it was a good idea to befriend one of the most fucked up characters in the Pokémon franchise, ran with it, and actually ended up being iconic doing it. Not Lillie, not even Archie (even though he really should have). Nope, it's the Bitch™ he formed a bond with.
Imagine, your imaginary/daydream childhood best friend befriending a character you hate, and you ended up watching where it's heading until it's too late. By until it's too late, I mean ended up supporting their dynamic while being conflicted about it because of who the two people are involved in the said friendship. It's very much like that.
Although, I'm not really sure who even initiated the befriending. For all we know, it could have been mutual.
So how did that happen? It all started with encountering this joke comic on Know Your Meme of Lusamine recreating a SpongeBob episode where he attempted living with the jellyfish. I ran into it on Facebook when I was younger and the full title didn't load. It just stopped at the part that implied the Bitch being in a SpongeBob episode doing something, but it didn't say what. So my younger self was like "w h a t" and daydreamed of the two interacting more than usual. This is prior to Screen Universe. Back then, when she joined, she was just like her canon self, and Spunch was kinda diverging while being mostly in character. So they'd fight (mainly in the trophy room and Ultra Space, but it can be anywhere else) and be after each others' necks. She even froze him one time and he only escaped because plot armour.
When I finally read the full title and comic, that's where shit hit the fan and started the bond in motion. They didn't become besties over night, it had a rocky start because of how I see both characters at the time (love one, but hate the other). Their interactions and scenarios evolved over time. With shit like soulmate AUs, fights, and the copyright jokes to name a few. The memes involving Lus being portrayed as SpongeBob (either with a scene or as SpongeBob himself) definitely spiked the development of their relationship. I think they started to mellow down with eachother towards the end of the previous paracosm, and the transition between both daydream eras.
What really cemented their fate as a pair was drawing this fan art of the two riding on eachother's jellyfish forms back in 2019. A handful of people on the Pokémon Amino liked it and even commented on it. This was when Screen Universe was still pretty new and these two are still actually warming up to each other after like one to two years of fighting and bickering. They just eventually agreed Jellyfishes are neat and they should bond over their enthusiasm for them. There was another fan art I made with the two before that, but that didn't gain much attraction iirc.
Over the course of the paracosm's development, their bond grew and grew until we're where we are now. There had been some rough edges here and there like when they were starting out in Screen Universe's fresh beginnings, Lus was still pretty malicious even for SpongeBob's detriment. And there was an phase back in 2021-early 2022 where Sponge didn't treat her too well (saw her as a weapon for ends to meet), but eventually cut that shit out. But there's some fluff too, like when they had tea together, gush about jellyfishes, and spar.
I think I will have to cut the ask in two because this is getting long 💀
I think my many issues trying to post this is because of how long it is so I'm gonna try posting asks 2 and 3 in the replies instead of pasting it into the main body of the post
Reading this and shovelling popcorn into my mouth like it's the newest cult classic movie I'm so invested
SpongeBob Lusamine enemies to besties core <3 when the paras are emotionally dependent on each other >>>>>
Taking all the villain Fictionals and giving them soft blankets and hot chocolate and therapy btw
Fma:b mentioned!!!!! (Rip my fma:b paracosm my paraself was so OP in that when I was 14)
Mickey needs to take a fucking nap, sort his ego out, and rethink his life choices please and thank you

The Gravity Fall’s Characters as Pokemon trainers
Tumblr media
I have been getting back into pokemon lately, and I made a few Owl house posts about what if the characters in that were Pokemon trainers, what Pokemon they would have, and why. That was so much fun that when I was done I wanted to keep going and do one a list for every Disney cartoon from this renaissance. Ie Gravity Falls, Ducktales, Star vs the forces of Evil, and Amphibia.I am not sure how popular these will be since while GF still has a live fandom, some of these other cartoons fandom may have died out. But making these was fun and I want some people to see my lists, even if its not that many. If I do get a lot of views I will binge more Disney cartoons to get more characters to make teams for
Before I start I do want to give credit for an idea I remember seeing in a post years ago. Someone did a comic of child Stanley and Stanford playing with two Eevee’s and planing to evolve them into vaporeon’s once they become adults and then they can help them sail around the world. But then because the Stan brothers have their fall out and do not go on their trip They never use water stones to evolve their eevee’s into Vaporeons. Stan’s winds up evolving into an Espeon and Ford’s into an Umbreon. That was such a good idea that not only do I want to use it, but it inspired me to turn the pines family into an eevelution family, and everyone who is a Pines by blood or by heart will have an eevelution. I purposely did not use Vaporeon though. I wanted to leave it as what could have been if things had been different, ...or a maybe in the future. Say Soos and Melody get married, and Melody is given an Eevee as a wedding gift. She could decide to evolve it into vaporeon...
But without further rambling the actual teams are below
Stan(ford) Pines a.k.a Grunkle Ford
Tumblr media
I will start with Ford. He is the oldest Pines so I guess he can go first. He was also the second easiest (after Mabel) of the Pines to make a team for
Umbreon. Like it says up there Ford and Stan both got Eevee’s as kids. They’d planed to evolve them into Vaporeons when they were ready to leave on the Stan-O-War. But then had their falling out and never went on their trip. Ford did not use a stone on his Umbreon, it stayed u with him on all nighters he pulled studying, and just took it with him on nightly explorations. It eventually evoleved on its own into an Umbreon. This is his top pokemon, and it protects him the most from walking off cliffs, or being jumped by mystical monsters. It will never leave/go against Ford, but it misses Stan, his Eevee/Espeon, and the days when the four of them were a quartet.
Now Ford is a investigative researcher of the paranormal/magical/oddities/weirdness. So I also picked pokemon that kinda represented paranormal/magical/oddities/weirdness. Clarfairy (a fairy like alien from the beyond), Ninetales (a Kitsune, they’re also known to be very intelligent, but slow to let go of things... kinda like Ford), and Nosepass (a Moai head. Plus a magnetic compass that Ford would love studying and would help him navigate his way through dimensons).
Ford also likes researching ghost’s, and needs a ghost type. I decided to give him a Banette, for reasons similar to the secondary reasons I gave him a Ninetales. Basically this ghost is a powerful grudge pokemon, and Ford has some powerful grudges against Stan, Bill and himself (for believing Bill and playing a part in hurting Fiddleford). I am thinking that this Banette may actually be photos or some other memento Ford held onto of him and Stan’s childhood, and it was born from Ford’s conflicting feelings over those times. I also imagine that Ninetales and Banette share Ford’s resentment towards Stan over the incident with portal (all six of Ford’s pokemon were in their pokeballs and went in with him), and they stand guard in the basement to keep him out. Umbreon is not to crazy about this, but it’s outvoted.
Lastly I had to give Ford a water-type. Even after changing his mind about sailing away on the Stan-O-War, and having the fall out with Stan, Ford still spent a lot of time reminiscing down by the lake, and loved boats enough to buy multiple paintings of them for his house. I also wanted to show his and Fiddleford’s bond, by giving both of them fossil pokemon that they could have found and caught in their excavations together. So I decided that Ford would have a tirtouga. (ex. has anyone heard the legend of the great turtle Kachapa? Because its another myth Ford would probably love).
Stanford Pines team: Umbreon, Clafairy, Ninetales, Nosepass, Banette, tirtouga. When I did the owl house I also mentioned if I thought each character would be a trainer/coordinator/breeder/gym leader. I am not doing that again. Mabel would probably like contests, Dipper gym battles. Bput generally everybody in GF is exactly who they are in GF.
(Stan)ley Pines. a.k.a Grunkle Stan
Tumblr media
Espeon. So like it says up top Stan and Ford had Eevee’s as kids that they planed to evolve into Vaporeons to come with them on their sailing journey, but after their fallout neither left on the Stan-O-War and neither evolved their eevee’s into Vaporeon. Stan never used a stone to evolve his eevee. He took it on the road with him. They combed beaches for treasure, and put on shows and mysterious acts, and eventually it evolves onto an Espeon on its own. This is Stan’s top Pokemon and spends a lot of time trying to protect him from cops, angry mobs of people he scammed, and guides him to his chair/bed after he’s spent all night working on the portal. It missed Ford and his Eevee/Umbreon as much as Stan did. Once Ford comes back Espeon tried to push for a reconciliation, and tries to get Umbreon’s help. Umbreon tries to make it clear that it still loves Espeon (sibling love not ship love), but that its best to give Ford time.
Hitmonchan: This one was the easiest choice for Stan. Stan loves and is very talented at boxing. Of course he would have a boxing pokemon. It’s Stan’s muscle/guard pokemon for the shack.
Meowth and Purrloin: two sneaky and money loving kittens; that Stan caught on the streets and they helped him pickpocket, steal, and fleece people to get by. Once he opened the mystery shack the pair where frequently part of his attractions. Since Stan has had them for a while I am going to pull a Ash’s bulbasuar/squirtle and just say that the reason they never evolved, is that they simply do not want to. Their first forms eat less, are more marketable when it comes to scams/shack merchandise, and are just the right size for pick-pocketing.
Ditto: Stan changes his identity on the fly whenever it suits him, and in pokeverse has a ditto that helps him do it. Learn from the master and all that.
Cubone: Stan’s final pokemon. I googled the loneliest pokemon and got Cubone. Okay y’all Stan is a lot of things: he is a liar, a thief, and a con. He can be selfish at times, and has acted without regard for others property, feelings, and well being. But at his core Stan is not a bad person. Deep down Stan is just a lonely man who desperatly wants to fix rifts he has caused and find a way to be safe and happy with his family.
Stanley Pines Team: Espeon, Hitmonchan, Meowth, Purrloin, Ditto, Cubone
Mabel Pines
Tumblr media
She was honestly the easiest Pines to create a team for just because she has so many distinct interests that I can use for refrence
Sylveon: This is Mabel’s eevloution. She is the warmest Pines, and is all about creating strong bonds with the people around her. So Sylveon is perfect for her.
Tepig: She also would of course have a pig pokemon because of Waddles. I looked up Pig pokemon and only saw three: Gruntpig, Swinal, and Tepig. I do not want to give Mabel a Swinal because it’s skinny; and canonically one reason Mabel found Waddles so cute was because he had a fat face. Gruntpig seems like the fattest, and cutest, of the three, but its abilities are to similar to things Gideon did to the Pines family. That leaves me Tepig by default. Tepig actually works pretty well for Mabel. It’s small, pudgy, adorable, is a strong fire type pokemon that will evolve into a strong fire/fighting type.
Luvdisc: Mabel is a huge romantic who loves to flirt with boys and try to play matchmaker with her friends and relatives. I am giving her  a Luvdisc to represent that. It would be cute if Marmando (her one positive, yet brief, relationship that summer) sent/gave it to Mabel; as a thank you for helping him get back to the ocean and his family.
Teddiursa, and Smeagle: Pokemon that I chose to reflect Mabel’s love for stuffed animals and art/creative projects.
Ponyta: She loves Unicorns, or at least did before she met Celestabethabellabell (Her name is stupid and I do not care if I spelled it wrong). Seriously I kinda thought about taking ponyta off remembering how cruel that judgemental hoof-face (thank you for the insult Wendy) was to Mabel and her friends. But I left it on for a few reasons. 1.) Unicorns are feminine, powerful, and chaotic creature. Mabel is also feminine, powerful, and chaotic. Those traits made her the break out star of GF when it originally aired, and the start of a new trend of female Disney protagonist who were adventurous, feminine, chaotic, and powerful (which I have loved for 10 years). 2.) Ponyta’s database says that once it gets to know someone, its flaming mane will cease to burn them. Mabel is absolutely the type to catch and befriend a ponyta just because she wants to braid its fiery hair. So Mabel still gets a ponyta.
Mabel Pines Team: Sylveon, Tepig, Luvdisc, Teddiursa, Smeagle, Ponyta. Sylveon, Ponyta, and Teddiursa came with her to GF (she couldn’t use Ponyta’s hair because it would have incinerated The Shack.) She caught Smeagle in “Headhunters”, won Tepig from the Farmer Sprout in “Time travelors Pig”, and Lovedisc is from Mermando.
DIpper (Mason but he would prefer you to use his nickname) Pines
Tumblr media
So Dipper was the hardest of the Pines to make a list for, because while he is a fun character with development, he wasn’t as zany/goofy as his family. So to form this list I looked more at his tenancies and attitude; as apposed to with his sister and Uncles I made there lists off their interests and corks.
Glaceon: This is gonna be his eevelution. None of them really fit perfectly with Dipper, and of the four I had left I decided to give him Glaceon; because it can cool temperatures around it. Some running jokes with Dipper are that he has a sweating problem, yet also hates showering and doing laundry (also appearing nervous, but that’d not really a joke, everybody hates that). So I thought maybe Glaceon could use its abilites to help Dipper sweat less.
Bonslie: its a tree. Dippers prophecy and hat symbol is a Pine tree. For dipper I needed to use that symbol to get six
Question Mark Unkown: Dipper Loves Mysteries, books, solving the unknown. He spends the whole summer treating Ford’s journal like a bible in his quests to learn all about the mysteries of gravity falls; especially who the author was and what happened to them. Let’s say Dipper found it around the same time he found the journal and started looking into the mysteries of gravity falls
Gastly: Ghosts are Dipper favorite Paranormal creatures, so he would have at least one ghost pokemon. I have seen some fans give Dipper a Phantump because of his tree symbol, which is valid. But I really wanted give him a Gastly because its such a silly ghost. Dipper is so serious a lot of the time. He sometime seems to associate being serious with coming across as mature. (Dipper grownups can be silly too. Please look at every adult in the show). I wanted to give him a goofy ghost, that help his family tease him into acting like a kid and having some fun.
Tyrogun: its a baby fighting type, and raising and training it couId represent how Dipper is beganing totransition from a boy to into a young man. I image Stan saw it in the wild, took Dipper to where it was at, and told him to find a way to catch it. It also likely has a similar relationship with Stan’s Hitmonchan as Dipper does to Stan.
Cranidos: It’s a baby dinosaur, fossil, pokemon. I would say its more likely Dipper caught it post “Land before Swine” than that Ford gave it to him. We’ll say that Dipper caught the little dino that followed them home, instead of Stan taking it to Farmer Sprout when it caused trouble. I am giving him this pokemon because its hard headed and runs head first into battle. Dipper spends all of Gf running head first after any creature Ford wrote about (even the ones Ford said were super dangerous). Dipper also is the most hardheaded of any Pines. (If you don’t believe me re-watch episodes like Dipper vs. Manliness, Time Travelers Pig, and Scaryoke.).
Dipper (Mason) Pines team: Glaceon, Bonslie, Question Mark Unkown, Gastly, Tyrogun, and Cranidos. Glaceon, Bonslie, and Gastly came with him to GF. The Unkown, Tyrogun, and Cranidos are all pokemon he caught during the summer; its says how in their posts.
Soos Ramirez
Tumblr media
Jolteon: Soos is a member of the Pines Family. He is Stan’s son, even if he was never legally adopted. So at one point growing up, he got an eevee from Stan. Jolteon fits him the best. He likes lightening and lazor’s. He knows how to work a fuse box and various electronics. Both him and Jolteon are good at retrieving things. Also I get the feeling he would like how pointy it is.
Aipom: Another pokemon I picked because it could probably help him out with his work around The Shack. It’s a very hand monkey, that could climb up to top shelf’s to get things for Soos (Since Stan does not allow ladders at the shack), and he could probably train it to use non-power tools.
Munchlax: Soos got an time wish of unlimited power for his birthday, and he used it to wish for a slice of infinite pizza. Munchlax is his snack buddy.
Beware and Pancham: Soos is a big old teddy bear/ panda bear; he says so himself on his and Melody’s first date. So I am giving him 2 bear Pokemon that reflect that. One fully evolved, and one that still has some evolving to do. The Pines need to have fighting pokemon, for all they get up to. These two are about the only ones Soos is not to sweet for.
Arcanine: It is listed as being one of the most loyal pokemon, and as we all know, there is no one more loyal than Soos
Soos’s team: Jolteon, Aipom, Munchlax, Beware, Pancham, Arcanine
Wendy Corduroy
Tumblr media
Because Wendy is from a family of Lumberjacks I made all of her pokemon woodland creatures. Her team is also comprised mostly of ice/fighting/ and normal types, for obvious reasons
Leafeon: I wasn’t really sure about Giving her an eevee evolution while she’s clearly close friends with the Pines I am not sure if she would call them her family, or if any of them except Mabel would call her so (Dipper certainly does not see her as a sister/cousin, and Stan’s feelings with her are debatable). But then I remember that she was close enough to the Pines that when her Summerween plans were a bust she went to the Shack and joinned the family for movies and jack-o-melons. That’s enough for me. Leafeon is my favorite eevelution, its woodland appearance and chill nature compliments Wendy, and its the same gen as Glaceon, so that kinda shows her and Dippers friendship.
Komala: Chosen for much many of the same reasons Leafeon was. It is a fuzzy, woodland koala, that’s general disposition is chill and lazy. It would likely be down to sneak away and chill on the roof with Wendy.
Abomasnow and Cubchoo: Here is ice-bag Wendy’s ice type pokemon. I gave her two since she has that much practice remaining calm under pressure. Abomasnow is also a grass type (it’s a big snowy yeti/tree thing), and I put it as fully evolved because Wendy is such a skilled woods-women... which meant I also needed to pick a first evolution for Wendy’s second ice type. Cubchoo will one day evolve into a huge polar bear, who’s level of terror could rival Ursaring (which I headcannon is one of Manly Dan’s pokemon) but right now its this cute, little, sniffling cub, that’s appearance kinda reminds me of some of Wendy’s stuffed animals.
Braixen and a Gargalian Farfetch: Here are her two fighting types.  Once again she has two because she is such a strong and skilled fighter. I picked Braixen; partly because its in the middle of its evolution line which is I felt was an okay metaphor for Wendy being a teenager; and partly because its pretty, tough, and has an attitude. Just like Wendy. The Gargalian Farfetch (regular ones aren’t fighting type) I picked because it doesn’t really look so tough, till it brings out its giant stick and start’s swinging. Like with Wendy, it’s a mistake to judge this skinny, short, bird by looks alone.
Wendy’s team: Leafeon, Komala, Abomasnow, Cubchoo, Braixen, Gargalian Farfetch.
Fiddleford Hadron Mcgucket
Tumblr media
Flareon: Chosen for its destructive power and because, after Mcgucket went mad and had to live in the dump, a fire poekmon could have helped him keep warm/cook food. Like Soos Mcgucket is pretty much family. He and Ford were cannoly each others lifeline in college and friends off and on for many years afterwards (Stanford was the password to Mcguckets prototype laptop). Mcgucket also became close with the twins during “the society of blind eye:” episode. Ford gave him an Eevee in college, and Mcgcket eventually evolved it into a flareon.
Aurorus: a dino pokemon he got while on an excavation with Ford during the time they worked together in gravity falls. I picked it specifically because its design reminded me of Mcguckets robotic gobblewonker
Zigzagoon and Totadile: because in the show a raccoon and baby gator were two animals that lived with Mcgucket in the junkyard.
Rotom: This is the closest thing I could find to a digital/computer based electric pokemon. It’s also part ghost; so maybe it could also represent parts of his intelligence/personality that the memory guns weren’t able to take away.
Celesteela: It’s a giant, destructive, steel robot. Enough said
Fiddleford Mcgucket’s team: Flareon, Aurrus, Zigzagoon, Totadie, Rotom, Celesteela. This is by far the most OP team of Pokemon I have made. But Fiddleford, the homeless man who can make giant battling doom-bots in a days time, is honestly a really Op character, and would honestly have to have a really OP team.
Note these are all the characters I consider the most important in the show (the Pines  Family and their closest friends), and so they are the ones who’s characters felt explored enough for me to make a team of six for. I put other important characters below: the other three members of the prophecy plus Candy and Grenda, but as they had less character their teams will be smaller
Robbie Valentino
Tumblr media
Loudred: Robbie thinks of himself as a musician, and is into loud heavy music.
Spinarack: his thing, other than being a moody “ dark, emo-goth” teenager, is that he is kind of a creep. He also has a pet tarantula. So I am giving him a creepy little spider
Shuppet: Because it is drawn to people dealing with negative emotions; and Robbie is again a moody “dark, emo-goth” teenager. I gave Amity one too on my The Owl House character list. Granted Amity deals with a tense, oppressive home life; and Robbie is the way he s mostly because of chemicals in his head (teenager). But Shuppets are not picky about causes of those feelings. In the anime Max befriend one after a fight with May.
Robbie’s team: Loudred, Spinrack, Shuppet
Gideon Gleeful:
Tumblr media
Morpoke: He is shown to have a pet guinea pig, and this is the closest pokemon I could find to one. I also wanted him to have something small and adorable to use as a mascot, since that is his selling point as a performer.
Starmie: He gets a star pokemon partially because that’s his symbol on the prophecy wheel, and also because in season 1 he was the towns local celebrity.
Kadabra: Sabrina used one against Ash when they battled, and Sabrina and Gideon are pretty similar.
Gideon’s team: Morepoke, Starmie, Kadabra
In the show Gideons personality is in part due to the stress and power that being a child star bring him. But, It’s also because that amulet he found after reading Journal #2 is revealed, in Journal #3, to corrupt your soul and whiten your hair, if you experience prolonged exposure. Because Gideon did not have Journal #3, he did not know it was so dangerous and wore it around his neck. In this I am gonna say he acquired pokemon that were to powerful, to young, and they (particularly Kadabra) control him more than the other way around. Post show his new uncles (the prisoners) help him get to where he can better handle his pokemon and that helps him change for the better
Pacifica Northwest:
Tumblr media
She was the hardest one of these three. She loves fashion and appearance more than anything, so you know she would only want pokemon that were considered the most beautiful. But she isn’t really experienced/mature enough for a milotic, would probably not like febass (they are kinda ugly), and I doubt her parents would allow her to have a beautifly or pikachu, because “eww bug and rodent. Here is what I eventually found for her”
Carbink: Gems, particularly Diamonds, are Pacifica’s favorite accessory. So its fitting that she would want this little diamond pokemon, to carry around and lords its shininess/beauty over people.
Galgarian Ponyta: according to the database this Unicorn is a bit more judgy and has potentially more mean girl energy, than a regular ponyta. So its less suited for Mabel, but more so towards Pacifica. Which also shows their rivalry given that Galgarian pokemon are more rare/exotic. Pacifica has a lot of the same interests and style as Mabel (They both love golf and parties. They dressed similarly to Pioneer Day and wore similar colored gowns to the Northwest Party), but because Pacifica is rich she has a lot of expensive and designer things, to Mabels more homemade, generic things, and hates that Mabel does not envy her. Pacifica probably isn’t close/friends with her ponyta though. I imagine that throughout the shows runs she has servants taking care of it, and only acknowledges it when she wants to make a fab entrance to a place she is going. This would change post show when she loses her servants and has to start caring for her pokemon herself.
Glameow: I do not think she had this one in the series. The show ended with the Northwest family losing all their money, and Alex tweeted that after the show Pacifica had to get a job and start working for things she wanted. Specifically she got a waitress job at Greasy Sai’s dinner. I like that she did that because then she will be spending days with Lazy Susan, who is a very sweet women, and would be a good influence for Pacifica and the changes she wants to make on herself. Since Lazy Susan raises cats, I like to imagine after she saw how lonely this girl is, and that she was trying to be a better person, she let her take home one of her kittens for a new friend. Pacifica chose Glameow. It’s the closest pokemon to Pacifica, since it did not know her before, and never had a more negative assessment of her.
Pacifica’s Team: carbink, Galgarian Ponyta, Glameow
Candy and Grenda
Tumblr media
Okay I was originally just gonna pt the characters on the Prophecy wheel, But that excluded Candy and Grenda and I did not like that, so I had to Add them. I am giving both of them two pokemon (their main purpose in the show was to be Mabel’s friends). Also to show sisterhood between the three girls I am giving each of them a feminine, love based pokemon; because when they had sleep overs they explored femininity and romance together. Mabel’s feminine love pokemon was again luvdisc
Grenda Grendinator
Smoochum: Her feminine/love based one. I have heard some people are not that fond of Smoochum (because of controversy around Jinx/ human shaped pokemon. ) I want to go on reccord by saying i do not think Jinx’s design is okay and I would not consider Smoochum if it did not look very different (less human more penguin/tee-key thing) than it’s evolution, and everstones were not a thing. But I think its a pretty good fit for her Grenda. Like her it has a different body shape, is cute, flirty, and confident.
Kecleon: Grenda had a pet iguana in the show, and this iguana pokemon looked the most similar
Candy chiu
Spritzee: Her feminine/love based pokemon. Spritzee admits a perfume like fragrence where it flys and that is something I cold see Candy (who reminder was most curious about if a unicorn’s neck would taste like ice cream when licked) would love.
Oshwatt. This little otter has a shell that is a stylish accessory, a battle weapon, and a comfort item. Basically the shell is an “improvement of pokemon”.

This is a different perspective but could the popularity of Keith's characterization be contributing to how Lance's is view. I swear every new show has a Keith in it but not many have a Lance. That lone wolf orphan bad boy with a heart of gold is everywhere. It's easy to write cause there's so many variations of it already written that we've read a billion times. (And I love them all)
But not Lance's characterization, it's not as common in other media. People are not as exposed to the depths that his characterization can have. This results in him being portrayed like every other character.
And the farther away we get from the show the worse it gets. People who say they haven't watched it in years or those who say they haven't watched at all are common now. They have their reasons but it makes it hard to remember details of Lance's character if you don't.
This is just how it looks to me but I'm right there with anon. So many fics leave me with an itch unscratch because Lance was not our beloved Lance.
So this is interesting.
And this could play a major role in the discourse, because yeah, if you break their characters down to the most basic level you get:
Keith the loner bad boy with a tragic backstory, and
Lance, the comic relief
In no show/movie or book that I can think of has "the comic relief" been given anything more significant in terms of development than "the loner": We always get to find out why the tragic one is tragic, but never question why the funny one is funny.
I will fully admit, Keith was my absolute favorite character in the beginning. And that was because I definitely had a "type" when it came to favorite characters, as I'm sure many people do.
Keith, Zuko, Bucky Barnes, Gaara -
And then everything changed when the fire nation attacked I watched My Hero Academia.
Because based on experience and type, my favorite character should have been Todoroki.
But nope.
My favorite character is Kirishima.
Tumblr media
I mean, just look at him. No tragic backstory. No daddy issues (lol). Just a ball of positivity and motivation, and an honestly a really good take on manliness.
It didn't make sense to me, until we got to the part where we saw all of his personal insecurities about not being enough.
And that's when I started to view Lance differently.
Don't get me wrong, I still thrive off of the tragic backstory trope for the sake of angst. But it can also be hugely innovative if you start thinking "hey, maybe this positive/funny character is that way because it's the only way they can make it through the day."
And that leads to moments and thoughts of "hey, what if that positive/funny character slipped up one day? What if something happened that they couldn't cope with in their normal method?"
Lance is the type of character you have to sit with a little while to truly start to understand his potential, which is essentially why the way his story arc was handled was so detrimental.
(I will admit that I have not watched the show in a long time. And I do feel like the way I have been writing klance lately could also be straying away from their canon selves - so honestly these past few posts could easily come across as hypocritical... but I hope that's not the case.)
Regardless, though, there are just so many things about Lance that set his character apart from the others, and make his so interesting to write.
And with him, I think it's most interesting when he's not just seen as the comic relief, but as someone who uses humor in this weird mix of simultaneously trying to hide his true self, while also trying to be seen and noticed.

Searching for Joseph Quinn: The Dark Side of Fandom
Picture it. You’re a young actor, just starting out in your career. You have a few projects on your resume but so far, that breakout role hasn’t appeared yet. You’ve got plenty of time though, and you’re excited about what the future holds. Acting is the only thing you’ve ever really wanted to do. One day, you get the opportunity to audition for a popular series. It’s not a huge part, only one season, but it’s well-written and completely different from anything else you’ve done. So you send in your audition tape. For reasons you don’t completely understand, you get the part. Eventually, you start filming. You make new friends. You give a performance you’re honestly pretty proud of. Then it’s over. You go home and wait for your world debut. To your utter surprise, your character quickly becomes the most popular one of the season, possibly the entire series. You’re invited to comic-cons and late show interviews. Video edits, fanart, and copyright infringing merchandise featuring your character flood the internet. You’re thrilled that a performance you just hoped would be “good enough” has resonated with so many people.
Now, picture this. You’re at home, alone, just relaxing. There’s a knock on your door. It’s a stranger. No. Wait. It’s a fan. Someone has leaked your address on the internet. Not only that, you discover people have identified the Facebook profiles of your family and are sharing your childhood photos with the world. It’s frightening, honestly. Disturbing. Just a little bit sickening. Suddenly, everywhere you go people feel entitled to approach you, ask for a photo, a video. It was fine when you were doing press and interviews for the show, but now it’s every day. Even on vacation, you can’t get a moment’s peace. Your life has changed in a matter of weeks and it’s exciting, amazing even. But also overwhelming.
***
When did fame become synonymous with lack of privacy? Do we blame the paparazzi for supplying us with photos proving that stars are just like us? Or maybe social media is responsible, allowing celebrity content to reach fans worldwide at any time. Experts do say that increased internet dependency may lead to increased parasocial relationships, and I’m sure many of us have experienced increased dependency on the internet in the past few years. But when did we forget that celebrities are just people? I’ve never seen an entertainment contract, but I doubt the fine print includes giving up the expectation to ever have a private moment again. This is a bit of a simplification, but as far as I’m aware the duties of an actor include learning your lines, showing up on set, and doing press once the job is over. There’s no obligation to pose for photos. To record video greetings while on a flight. And recording someone without their knowledge or consent doesn’t make you a fan. It makes you a stalker.
So the next time you see a celebrity on the street, do me a favor. Before you run up to them and ask for a photo and tell them how much you love them and how they “saved” your life, stop and think for a minute. Think about how you would feel if people were constantly expecting you to smile and pose while you’re just trying to live your life. Maybe you don’t really want to have your picture taken today, maybe it’s not the greatest hair day, maybe you’re self-conscious about that pimple that appeared overnight. Maybe flying still makes you nervous and you just want to listen to your playlist and try to relax. Maybe you want to say no when someone asks but you’re just too nice. Maybe you wish that once in awhile, someone would just make eye contact and smile. And then walk away. Please, I am begging you, be that person. Do you think you’ll ever forget making eye contact with Joseph Quinn? You don’t have to prove it to anyone.
Oscar Wilde wrote: “Each man kills the thing he loves.” Although I think the chances of any of us taking our hyperfixation to homicidal extremes is small, we could definitely be guilty of killing the reputation of the object of our affection by falsely accusing them of terrible things. We could kill their relationships by sending their current partner nasty messages or worse yet, death threats. And at the very least, we could kill their willingness to interact with fans at all. So keep appreciating their work and loving the characters they play, keep making fanart. (please be aware though that selling said fanart might get you sued) But don’t forget that celebrities are people too.
They’re just like us.

AThane and the symbolism behind the outfit
This has been on my mind for quite some time, pretty much ever since AThane was introduced to the game but it was only with the comic coming out that I realized just what was it that looked so important for me in his design. Yes, I’m not very fast on the uptake sometimes let me ramble xD
As usual, this will probably be a fairly long post so I’m putting it under Read More just in case. And yes, I know this is the Brutus month and tbh, I do love ABrutus and his story is amazing but I don’t really have much to say in terms of symbolism etc.
Tumblr media
The Awakened heroes so far didn’t really have any MAJOR changes to their design. Sure, ATalene tied her hair back and got an extra pair of fluffier wings, and AEzizh got buffer and more blue and pink than red and purple but it wasn’t anything huge. There really wasn’t much going on in terms of theme or symbolism that wouldn’t already be there in their original form. Yes, ATalene looks more angelic than the old version and yes, AEzizh now ascends from a ball of demonic purple energy but these changes only emphasize what was already there, meanwhile AThane’s design completely flips the script on his previous aesthetics and feel.
Tumblr media
Since his introduction to the game, Thane stood out as being one of the few Lightbearers with a darker theme to his design. Sure, he wasn’t the only one but it was still somewhat of a staple of his. His outfits consists mostly of dark blues, grays, and browns, a lot of them a little faded, and though he’s on his guard, his expression is somber. This goes double for his in-game model. And unlike the other darker-themed characters, he doesn’t really have much to lighten the overall feel up. Estrilda has her flag which has brighter colors and a nice rim of light (and her insane amount of revealed skin which also brightens the pic), Hendrik’s colors are overall lighter and he has more gold on his outfit, his hair being white also adds to a more positive mood, and we could go on. Standing out from the lineup would be Morrow and Scarlet but those are fairly late additions and their palettes are more purposely contrasting than the somber darkness we see in Thane.
In a way, this is tied to Thane’s mental state at that point of his story. After losing Baden, and blaming himself for it, Thane fell into fairly deep depression, one he only somewhat got out of after he started training Estrilda. But going off of the Solemn Vow storyline, even that didn’t exactly get him out of that state much and while he did come to genuinely care for her, how much of his teaching was because he cared and how much was because of his self-assumed debt to the Rayne family is still unclear. I think it’s safe to say that with Baden, a part of Thane died as well. And while Baden wasn’t exactly dead, there is no canon confirmation that Thane would know about that. This is one of the things I really wish they would’ve made into a webcomic since we are apparently getting some comics for some awakened heroes and it would allow for more emotional connection compared to the Voyage of Wonders and plain text description.
Furthermore, and the picture above is inverted since I can’t find the correctly-facing one, Thane lost his right arm at the same time he lost Baden. This isn’t enough to end his swordsmanship even if it was his dominant hand but no doubt was this a major blow for both his sense of self-worth and his everyday life. Again, this is already very symbolic of what happened to him because of the loss of Baden – he didn’t die but it would forever be in the back of his mind like a haunting reminder of his failure. For all means and purposes, Thane’s story could’ve ended there, leaving him agonizing over that one moment where he lost his... ehm “best friend” and his arm, the moment of his ultimate failure.
And then came his awakening.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Immediately, the first thing you notice is how much brighter this design is compared to the original. AThane is still wearing the same black suit but now with more gold, and his cloak has brighter colors. Even his hair – and a new goatee – changed from gray to blue. The addition of lighter shades, whites, and the overall light-feeling aesthetic also marks a big step for his mental state and character development. AThane moved to a brighter place. It is very fitting that Thane’s design choices are affected by him losing Baden, while AThane’s are directly tied to finding Baden again, and being able to prove himself worthy of him.
The motif for AThane’s outfit appears to be the peacock, both based on the colors and on the shape his outfit took. Peacocks are, among other things, universally considered the symbol of pride and confidence but various cultures assign them other meanings as well. In Native American cultures, peacocks could be used self-esteem, refinement, beauty, or even sexuality. Hinduism associates peacocks with prosperity, good luck, and protection. And finally, in Chinese history, peacocks were used to symbolize power, beauty, and even divinity.
It is therefore fitting for AThane’s theme to be so heavily leaning into the peacock motif for several reasons. Not only has he gained new power – and it was the power to protect – but he gained a connection to the divine by merging with the elemental wind mark. This was most certainly a tough choice, Thane avoided it for as long as he could, knowing how much of a strain it was sure to put on him. It was no sooner than he saw Baden ready to sacrifice himself for him AGAIN that he made his choice, thus ultimately making this choice about love. Now, whether you see Thaden as platonic or romantic, there is no doubt that some kind of deep love runs between the two. Last time, Baden was the one to act on it and take a tremendous risk. This time, Thane is the one to take the risk, not willing to fail Baden again, even if it costs his life. And finally, we get to the final point of AThane’s design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice how the right side of his cloak is so heavily decorated with the feathers while the left side is relatively plain, the feather design instead appearing on his sleeve. This is the part I newly realized and that really knocked the air out of me once it clicked. By his self-sacrifice, AThane not only made up for his previous mistake, but he gained wings. His arm won’t ever come back, much like Baden will never be human again, but there is now something to substitute it. Now, I’m sure I don’t have to get into the common associations when it comes to wings, but let me just bring up a few most common – and most interesting – ones.
Tumblr media
Wings symbolize protection. In multiple official arts of AThane, he seems to be using his missing arm as a way to deflect blows, the shoulder piece serving as a bright shield. This also tracks with how he even gained this new power – in an attempt to protect Baden, on a mission to protect Estrilda, and ending up giving him the determination to try and protect the world.
Wings symbolize freedom. In AThane’s case, it’s the freedom from his haunting past, and the ability to overcome it. It’s a freedom of his weakness and of the fear that he would end up losing everyone again. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this, we saw the character developing deep relationships and let himself get close to people again. He might even feel free to express himself some more. One thing I certainly hope to see once we finally get to the culmination of this arc is Thane, completely exhausted after the battle, perhaps hurt, but looking over the people who helped him get there, and smiling, or perhaps even laughing, letting all the stress and responsibility wash off of him.
And finally, wings symbolize purity and divinity. I touched upon the divinity before but I want to mention it briefly once more because angels as we know them are often intimately tied to both of the previous ties. But furthermore, they are gentle, often self-sacrificing creatures who serve as protectors, soldiers, messengers, and more. This role is fitting for a character like Thane who was a soldier, a castellan, a detective, an arrand boy, and now finally also a protector. It also symbolizes a rebith of sorts. With his rise from the dark depths his mind was in before, he can now fully embrace a new calling.
AFK Arena (luckily) doesn’t have a habit of killing off playable characters but if it did, I believe it to possibly be the perfect culmination for AThane’s arc. This is just my opinion so absolutely feel free to yell at me. I simply think that AThane gaining wings and then possibly falling in the final battle, possibly shielding his allies instead of going in for a reckless offensive, would be the most fitting end to his character development, showing us just how far he’s gone. From someone who needed others to die for him, to someone willing to protect others with his life. But even if this is not going to happen any time soon, simply the fact that he was willing to risk it for the mere chance of being able to save others is already an incredible step forward.
Well, that would be it for this analysis. I plan on going more in-depth about why the characters were picked for their particular elements too but since we only have two so far, that might have to wait. Speaking of which, we’re left down to fire and water, and Wilders and Graveborn. I wonder who will take which element? Wilders already have a character associated with fire, and Graveborn have multiple water-related characters so seeing a switch would certainly be interesting. There’s also the Daimon song video that has the grave symbolized by a large body of water so that could also be a hint... Well, we’ll see in two months. Until then, let me know what you think.
If you’ve read this far, thank you very much, you have no idea how much it means. I’m sorry for being so long-winded and hope you at least found it interesting. If you’re curious about the sources for some of the claims I’ve made in this post, hmu either in dms or send in an ask. I hope to see you soon, possibly with a lighter post this time!

This is the last piece of buffer art from 2023 that I have prepared (though I might pull some art from other projects to use as buffer since I'm now officially out of it). It's of two characters from my Ashmont Vigilantes world: Lucia and Dominic. You may remember Dominic from my first post on the Transcendent Trio, although he was only mentioned in passing. This is concept art from when he was in his late teens/early 20s, set several years before the Transcendent Trio storyline and in what I'm tentatively calling the CREWCUT storyline.
While Lucia/Ziyara's backstory is still under heavy development, the basic idea is that she's from a planet called Ootalax (her species is Ootalaxian) who was sent to Earth at a young age as part of her training to eventually be the Ootalaxian ambassador. She was given the identity of Lucia Carter, niece to Gerald Carter (the secret identity of a well-known hero called Captain Amazing), and began living as a normal human. She met Nic through his parents (Isabella Allard, aka Birdseye, and Anthony Allard, aka Dire Jibe), since they ran in the same superhero circles as Captain Amazing. Despite living in separate parts of the country, they became fast friends and would go on to form an unsanctioned teen heroing group together with some other superhero friends.
A few fun facts about Ootalaxians: they are shapeshifters with the ability to change every part of their body, except for their brains, their body mass, and their specific form of mitochondria (which is what allows them to shapeshift). Their natural form tends to be tall (7 or 8 feet) with skin tones on the blue/black spectrum, four arms, and six eyes with no visible pupils. While Ootalaxians can emulate the reproductive tract of any animal, their natural reproductive system is that of three parents: imna (contributor of ova), ishrrl (contributor of sperm), and ithos (bearer of the child). Babies are born without a sex, but most settle in a single sex for the most part by the age of 5. It is not uncommon, however, for them to change their sex based on how they feel about themselves, to fit the parental role they want to have in their child’s life, or a variety of other reasons. The vast majority of Ootalaxians are multisexual, since that's their natural reproductive state, although they have the same broad spectrum of (a)sexuality that humans do. Lucia's main gender is imna, which is why she goes by she/her pronouns, and she identifies as omnisexual (the multisexual label she liked best).
In this picture, Nic is shown to be Owlet, which is kind of the Robin to Birdseye's Batman. However, as I started fleshing out the pre-TT timeline, I decided I wanted that mantle to go to his brother, Connor. There are reasons for this that I won't go into right now, but the end result is that Nic is no longer Owlet, but Mockingbird--intended to the sidekick of Dire Jibe. I'm not 100% sure if either of them will be official sidekicks or "you can't tell us no" unofficial ones, though. Nic has always been uneasy with authority, which is what draws him to the punk aesthetic/culture. There's a lot about his backstory and personality that I haven't settled on, so I can't say much right now, but identity-wise he's bisexual, demiromantic, and polyamorous.
Anyway, that's it for now. I need to finish the model sheets for the Transcendent Trio, so I'm not sure when my next post on this world will be. But, hey, maybe I'll get inspired to do a vignette. Or I'll need buffer and so I'll show you the character concept art I have for a pre-TT visual novel game I want to make around the same time I officially start working on the TT comic. I guess we'll see! 😁

What I genuinely love about "Imaginary Friend" is the rather simple concept. With UT there are often deep and sometimes bloated themes and theories along with it since there is so much room for stuff in between the layers of the game (sometimes even layers when there aren’t any). They’re fine but sometimes I feel like less is more and better… (not to mention you don’t have to see and read any or too many credible sources for the theories to be on topic…) you need to know who Gaster is, his fate and his possible relationship with the Skeletons. The rest is explained in the fic itself.
I found the fic shortly after I finished my first play through (pacifist) and delving a little into the Gaster lore. Your fic really touched on the subjects I really enjoyed and it’s simple premise of Frisk befriending Gaster as they did with all the monsters was executed so well. The characters and topics in this flow rather naturally and the climax is interesting as it is rewarding!
It’s been a while since I read the fic but parts of it are still in my memory and I’m gonna reread the fic again soon.
To me, it’s natural for many people to be drawn into the fic and comic and I'm sure your dedication to see the comic through as long as you have definitely fills me (and so many others) with determination! ((Sorry I had to))
Thank you for your input! Yeah, it was a simple idea, after I wrote my first Undertale fic, which had a rather bittersweet ending, I really wanted Gaster to be saved. Originally, Imaginary Friend was going to be way shorter and his friendship with Frisk wouldn't have lasted so many chapters. But thanks to some other stories, I just really liked the idea of Gaster being Frisk's "imaginary friend", and then the characters slowly pick up the pieces.
And honestly I think this was one of the few long stories I actually finished. I gave up on many of them in the past. But Imaginary Friend made me feel so satisfied when it was over. Not only because of the positive reception, but it was a story I never wrote before. A story about a beautiful, platonic relationship that develops over time. It's a story about forgiveness and past trauma - which is also present in Sans' arc, as you'll see later in the comic.
I would say the comic adaptation is a love letter, really. I do try to improve a few things I didn't explore in the original story, mainly Frisk and Papyrus, the latter not receiving a lot of focus in comparison to Sans, but it's not to say the comic is "better". It's just me revisiting the original fic. And while I wish the updates weren't so slow, I think they also help me take some time to develop the changes I want to make.
Anyway, thanks again for your support! And yeah, knowing how much you guys love this story and how much it means to me certainly fills me with determination. I've been having a hard time lately so reading these kind words are like a hug to me. <3

writing questions tag!
tagged by @lexiklecksi, thank you!!
1 - What is your absolute all-time favourite ideas you’ve ever had?
Hm…I love all my current wips, but I think my favourite fun idea was the one I had for nano a few years back, called Gywnn Doomshard vs the Forces of Light, which was a comic fantasy from the POV of the literal forces of darkness, where instead of the Heir of Darkness being chosen from the long-time family of darkness for the most recent go-round of ‘fight the forces of Light’, his bodyguard got chosen instead.
It was a super fun book, playing with loads of tropes; the dragons unionised, magic only worked on you if you consented, there were imps everywhere, the Castle of Darkness was partially sentient…it’s an idea I really want to go back to one day. It’s very inspired by things like Dungeon Keeper/War for the Overworld, Grunts!, The Princess Bride, Labyrinth, Shrek and that kind of trope-y, fun genre. All the characters were so much fun to write.
2 - Is there a question you’ve been asked in the past that really stands out to you, and you still think about sometimes?
Nothing comes to mind particularly.
3 - What is your favourite part of being a writer? What parts could you take or leave?
When I get to the point in a story where I’m making it do what I want. When all the ideas come together, I get that little spark of ‘yes!’ and I can make the words sing. (also I love creating characters).
Obscure grammar rules can go away. I can’t remember them. I have to google things all the time. English is a stupid language and no-one should ever speak it but unfortunately it’s the only one I know.
4 - What is your greatest motivation to write/create?
To have the story I want to read. And lately, to make the people that read my writing go ‘AAAHHHH SPACE WHY’. That latter is the reason I’m planning to post Renegade Prince online somewhere with comments. I love those interactions. I save all the good comments I get and look at them when I’m feeling down.
5 - What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever read or been given as a writer?
That one tumblr post/several variations on it that if you’re stuck in a story, go back about ten lines and try again. If you write yourself into a corner, reverse out of the corner. It has saved me so many times: whenever I get stuck, I think of it, and apply it, and it fucking. works. every time.
6 - What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out writing?
That editing is where the magic happens. That first drafts are just to get an idea down, and that your writing will shine afterwards.
7 - What is your favourite story you’ve written to completion? Link it if you’d like and can!
Honestly recency bias is showing, but some of my fics lately I just really love. The series they’re part of aren’t done, but the stories themselves are. so for right now, I’m going to say body mine from obsession. It’s nothing like what I usually write, but it was so much fun to weave that strange little story and try something different.
8 - What is your favorite out-of-the-box quote?
WRITE IT BADLY. Write it badly, write it badly, write it badly, write it badly. Stop what you’re doing, open a Word document, put a pencil on some paper, just get the idea out of your head. Let it be good later. Write it down now. Otherwie it will die in there. - Brandon Sanderson
9 - Which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? Why do you say so, and how do you personally feel about their ideals?
hm, I don’t know about controversial as such…certainly Vizaeth has the most unusual mindset: he’s so wrong about so many aspects of his life, but is fully convinced he’s right about them, and that the pain those things cause is correct (to be inflicted upon him, or upon others). Personally I don’t think even therapy would fix him, but it would help.
Otherwise, perhaps The Daemoness, who is an OC I rarely write about publically, but is the ruler of a hive-mind empire she built herself. Her powers enabled her to chain souls to herself, so every demon on her planet, and every creature on every planet she dominates become a part of her. She believes she’s doing what’s necessary: her actions ended the wars on her planet, and by taking over other planets, she leaves ‘peace and unity’ in her wake. However, she is by her nature a very bloodthirsty creature and craves the challenge of battle, so she’ll never be satisfied.
I just really like characters whose actions are reprehensible but whose internal logic chains make perfect sense to them, such that they couldn’t be another way. I disagree with Demoness that ‘dominating and soul chaining every living thing in the universe’ is the way to achieve personal satisfaction and universal peace, but damn she’s fun to write when I do write her.
10 - If you, when you first started writing, met you now, what would younger you think?
younger me would be so extremely hyped. look at all these words we wrote! we finished things? actually finished them?? and people like them?
they’d be a little confused at how gay and trans everything is but don’t worry, they’ll figure it out.
