The food was beyond delicious. Maria and her cousin, Andrea, had spent the day cooking up all these little finger foods for the guests to snack on. They were the cutest things the girls had ever laid eyes on and Maria was pretty proud of herself.
Charlotte had a little paper plate in her lap with three little sandwiches of smoked salmon and cream cheese and sausage pastry puffs. She was listening to another guests recent travels through South Africa, not paying attention when Luke would reach over now and again and try to steal some food off of her, just to annoy her. Grabbing a sausage puff with a toothpick, waiting for Charlotte to glare at him and grinning like a little shit as he quickly shoved the piece into his mouth. Charlotte glared at him every time.
"Piss off, dude!" she laughed, much to everyone's amusement, "Go get your own!"
"But Michael took the last sausage puff!" he whined, goading her with puppy-dog eyes.
"Well, that's not my fucking problem," she pouted back, "Eat the salmon ones,"
"Ew, no," he shook his head.
"What if I put vegemite on it for you?"
"... We can discuss it,"
Soon after the party quieted down long enough so they could all sing Happy Birthday to Maria. Afterwards, they cut into the cake and dipped into the freshly-heated bougatsa. Luke and Calum were immediately transported to heaven at the first bite.
"Holy fuck, I missed this stuff," Calum said, powdered sugar staining his lips.
"It's fucking good, yeah?" Luke hummed.
"This ain't nothing," Chloe told them, "When Charlotte's grandma used to make it fresh -- I swear, that shit was better than sex,"
"Do you know how to make this, Charlotte?" another guest asked. The mousy brunette shrugged shyly.
"I've attempted it once or twice, but I always fuck it up," she replied.
"We got to get your mom to show us how to make this," Kimberly nodded.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes, "My mom? Teach us how to bake?"
Kimberly shook her head, "I didn't believe me, either,"
"Hey, we're not complaining over here," Luke piped in, grinning at Charlotte. Some cake icing dotted the corner of her lip, "Hold still, babe,"
He brushed his thumb at the corner of her lip and wiped off the icing. Charlotte hoped he didn't hear the thunk of the lump she'd swallowed the moment he touched her.
The others ate their dessert and consumed an assortment of drinks. Ashton and Michael got into a thumb wrestle over who would get the last bougatsa; Kimberly claimed victory while they were distracted.
"Ya thumb wrestle like children? Ya lose regardless!" she told the sulking boys.
Maria excused herself from her friends for a bathroom break. Ducking out from the party she trotted down the hall and turned into the bathroom doorway. However, she stopped dead in her tracks. Melody was rooting around in her bathroom drawers, seemingly looking for something.
Maria thought she must've been hammered and she was seeing things, but Melody was none the wiser. She kept rummaging around through her toiletry drawer, what the actual fuck?
The older latina crossed her arms and leaned against the doorway, "What're you doing?" she asked.
Melody's head shot up faster than a crack of lightning, her face paling when she'd been caught, "Hm?" was her only response.
"... What are you doing?" Maria asked again, her patience already on a thin line with this girl.
Melody slowly closed the drawer, "I was just looking for some aspirin. I got a bit of a headache," she said, trying to play it off cooly. Maria was unsure as to whether or not she was telling the truth. If she wanted aspirin, she could've just asked.
"One drawer over with the first aid kit," she instructed slowly. Melody opened the next drawer and gasped in triumph when her eyes landed on the little red bottle.
"Oh, here it is!" she grinned at Maria, "Thanks,"
"Sure," Maria nodded, "... Just ask me next time instead of going through my shit,"
Melody shrugged, "Well, you were having too good a time it was kinda' hard getting your attention. Figured you'd keep it in the bathroom anyway; but you're right. Total invasion of privacy. I'm sorry,"
"It's fine," Maria lied, "Come on. I'll get you some water,"
She had Melody slink out first and she watched the young influencer disperse into the crowd. Maria took one last glance at her bathroom, an eerie chill crawling up her spine. Something wasn't right, here. She shut the door behind her and made good to lock it this time.
♛♛♛
The next afternoon, the girls were sat in the airport's lounge as they awaited their flight's departure. They were all giddy -- albeit a bit hungover -- for this next leg of the tour. That is, they were... until Maria told them about last night's run-in with Melody.
"What the fuck is she doing going through your bathroom drawers?" Kimberly scowled.
"That's just downright fucking creepy, even for Melody," Charlotte said.
"Yeah. What -- she wanna' know what scent of Vagisil you use or something?" Chloe remarked, earning some seedy stares from strangers sharing the space.
Kimberly grimaced, "Lower your voice, for God sakes. Everybody's a prude these days,"
Maria slumped down in the arm chair she was sat in, "Girl looked me dead in the eye and told me she needed some aspirin. Bitch, if you need aspirin, you come and ask the host who's bathroom the aspirin is in. You don't just invite yourself to look through the drawers; that's like inviting a total stranger to go through my underwear drawer!"
"I had a date try that with me once," Kimberly said suddenly.
Chloe's eyebrows furrowed, "... And did he violate your underwear drawer?"
"No, but I violated his eyeballs with my hairspray," Kimberly said.
Charlotte cringed, "Get your ass off Bumble,"
"That's really creepy though, Maria," Chloe continued.
"You wanna' know something creepier?" Maria said, "I don't think she was after the aspirin,"
"Why? What do you think she wanted?" Charlotte asked.
Maria shrugged, "Something she clearly couldn't ask me for, probably for fear of judgement,"
"Like what?" Kimberly asked.
"Name it. I got cough syrup in there, bath salts, a couple different painkillers. And if that wouldn't do the trick, she'd probably raid my spice rack for the nutmeg," Maria said.
"Nutmeg? What're you talking about?" Kimberly asked again.
Charlotte shook her head with discontent, "She thinks Melody was looking for drugs," she kept her voice low so other passengers wouldn't hear them.
Chloe's eyes went wide, "Drugs? What kind of drugs would we have? We smoke weed, drink illegally, and the main food group in our diet is McDonald's,"
"Announce it to the world, why don't you," Charlotte grimaced, "Not like we're famous or anything,"
"Sorta famous," Chloe pointed out, "We on a B level,"
Kimberly was in dismay, "Wait, hold up -- you can get high off nutmeg?" she asked in disbelief.
"Apparently, too much of the stuff is like an amphetamine overdose," Maria replied.
"So... say if one were to eat a whole pumpkin pie..."
"You eat a whole ass pumpkin pie, you'll def get sick, just not from the nutmeg," Charlotte said.
"Why would you wanna' eat a whole pie, anyways?" Maria asked.
Kimberly shrugged sheepishly, "Sometimes, post-breakup ice cream just isn't good enough,"
"Yeah, we can't all have a big Australian pretty boy coming over to wipe our tears away like you, babydoll," Maria said to Charlotte. Charlotte stuck her tongue out.
"Jealousy is unbecoming, Maria,"
A look of horror suddenly overcame Chloe's face, the mention of Luke triggering a harrowing thought, "What are the odds do you think Melody does use something? 'Cause if she's using, there's a good to fair chance she'd get Luke involved. And I don't know how I feel about that,"
"Luke Hemmings and drugs?" Kimberly scoffed, "That's like giving double espresso to a puppy,"
Charlotte shook her head confidently, "Luke doesn't use drugs. I mean -- I would know," she said, trying sound certain, "You guys said it yourself, we're practically together all the time. The guys too -- if he was on something but... he's -- he's just -- he's not!"
"No one's saying he is," Maria placed a hand on her knee to calm her down, "Okay? We're not saying he's on anything. We're not even certain Mel is on anything,"
"Yeah," Chloe nodded to Charlotte, "Maybe she's just a creep who likes to go through other people's privacy? Maria caught her doing it last night,"
"And you're right, Lottie," Kimberly added, "We've all known Luke for years. If he was on something -- I mean, I'm pretty sure we'd pick it off,"
Maria brought her hand to her forehead, "I don't even wanna' imagine what Ashton would do if he caught Luke snorting shit,"
"Forget Ashton. What about Liz?" Kimberly said, "Finding out her baby is a junkie? She'd kill Mel first, and then Luke,"
"Why kill Melody first?" Chloe asked.
"You think Luke would get into that shit on his own? Yeah, right. Momma Hemmings' coming at that bitch with a fucking two-by-four and knock those duck lips off her face," the bassist scoffed.
Charlotte then interjected, "Could we talk about something else, please?" she asked, clearly uncomfortable with the subject. The girls couldn't blame her, how terrifying would it be to find out one of your closest friends, someone you practically share every aspect of your life with, abuses pills?
"Sure," Maria nodded, just as eager to steer off topic. Besides, Luke didn't fit the mold anyway. He'd smoke weed, sure, but they all did, "What're we gonna' do first when we get to England?"
"Sleep off this hangover for one," Chloe replied.
The conversation changed and soon enough, the girls were being called to board their plane. And yet, for the majority of the flight Charlotte had a sinking feeling in her gut. Even when Luke and Calum popped by her seat for a chat, she couldn't help but look at the 6'2 blonde a little differently. Her mind was wandering, looking for anything that indicated to her that Luke's behaviour was off. But he was normal, as normal and goofy as the day they'd met.
You're being ridiculous, she thought to herself, he's not on anything. He never would... right?
♛♛♛
The moment they stepped off the plane, Charlotte took her phone off airplane mode and regretted it immediately when she saw she had a few missed calls from her mom. Eight, to be precise, and a flurry of text messages.
"For fuck sakes..." she fell into step with Maria as they made their way to exit Heathrow, "Look at this,"
The bleary-eyed latina took a glance at the phone screen and shook her head. Penelope was at it again with her overbearing and over-worrying.
"Jesus, eight calls? Seriously?" she asked.
"One for nearly every hour of the flight. And like, twelve messages," Charlotte replied, she scrolled through the messages, "Your brother is still seeing that whore. I know he's lying to me. What did you say to him before you left? Why aren't you answering my calls?"
"Didn't you tell her you were travelling today?" she asked.
"Oh, of course," she nodded back, "When she gets hysterical though, all rational thought flies out the window," she started to dial her mom's number.
Maria's eyebrows furrowed, "It's 11pm over there right now, isn't it?"
"Well clearly, it's an emergency. So I think she'd appreciate the call back, regardless" Charlotte smirked, knowing fully well her mother was already fast asleep.
Maria shook his head, "You're bad, Char,"
"I know," she put the phone to her ear, "But I look damn good while doing it,"
A few feet behind the girls, Luke fell into step with Ashton. Charlotte wasn't the only one to note Bryana's lack of presence at the party, and Melody's words echoed in his head on repeat. Ashton didn't often let it show when he was down, he was supposed to be the happy-go-lucky git of the group. Always laughing and joking around, so it was rare when Luke would truly see Ashton upset.
"Hey,"
"Hey," Ashton yawned into his fist.
Luke licked his lips nervously, "Listen, I don't want to get into anything but... are you and Bri okay?" he asked.
The curly-haired drummer seemed to go a shade paler at the mention, but his face gave nothing away, "Whatcha' mean?"
The blonde shrugged sheepishly, "I mean -- she wasn't at Maria's party last night --"
"I told you: she had a thing," Ashton replied, staring at the younger lad quizzically.
"What kind of a thing?" Luke asked. Ashton neglected to respond, instead focusing on pushing through the crowds of travelers, "I'm not trying to pry or anything, mate. I just -- if something's going on, we're here for you. All of us," he nodded in the direction of the girls.
Ashton feigned a smile, "I know. And I'm good, we're all good. I promise ya,"
If there was one thing Luke would change about Ashton, he'd get him to be a little more truthful with his emotions. For as long as he could remember, Ashton would bottle up his feelings on the inside and slap a smile on his face, and on more than one occasion he'd crash and burn at the end of misery lane.
"Alright,"
An hour and some later the bands arrived at their hotel. Charlotte had called her mom, hearing the same grating annoyance in Penelope's voice as she bitched about how it was the middle of the night, but afterwards proceeded to complain to her daughter about how sure she was Troy was keeping things from her. Charlotte did what any burnt out daughter would do with their paranoid, overbearing mother: tune her out and simply agree with everything she was saying so she'd settle down.
"That's the problem with your generation; you all romanticize drugs and unwrapped sex until you end up pregnant and have to live with your overworked parents for the rest of your lives -- rent free!"
"I know mom, I know," Charlotte sighed, slumped over the couch of her hotel room.
Across from her sat Chloe on the bed, sprawled out and trying to doze off. But Penelope was so loud she could hear her from the speaker. She kept her eyes trained on the singer, and when Charlotte caught her gaze she made a gun sign with her hand and motioned to blow her brains out. Chloe simpered.
"Are you even listening to me?" Penelope snapped.
Charlotte rolled her eyes, "Yeah mom, I've been listening for --" she glanced at the bedside clock, "Forty-eight minutes exactly,"
Penelope huffed, "Alright, alright. I know when you're sick of me, sweetheart. Just try not to cry too much when I finally kick the bucket," and here came the guilt.
"Mom, I'm not sick of you," Charlotte reasoned, "But I just got off a nine-hour flight and I'm exhausted,"
"So, why did you call me?" Penelope asked.
"Because I feared you'd harass the phone company again if I didn't," she replied, "Now, just calm down. Troy's an adult and he can do what he wants,"
"But what if he gets her pregnant or she gets him into LSD? I don't want no helter skelter hipsters coming around my house and blowing their sage around!" Chloe heard that and nearly busted out laughing.
Charlotte rolled her eyes, bleary and fatigued, "Mom, he's not going to get anybody pregnant. I mean -- look at him. The kid's swimmers probably can't even make it past the cervix," Chloe grimaced.
"Charlotte, don't be so crass," Penelope chided.
"Well, stop being so paranoid! And lay off the kid! You can't be helicoptering over his shoulder all the damn time," Charlotte replied.
"It's not paranoia, but a mother knows when a girl isn't right for her son!" she replied, "If you ask me, the Martinellis should've sent that girl to reform school long ago,"
"I know, mom," Charlotte huffed, "Look, I got to go but just take it easy for God sakes. Give Troy a little room to breathe,"
"He's not like you, Charlotte," Penelope stated, "I never have to worry about you, you're independant. It's your brother the world is going to eat alive. Goodnight, Charlotte," and with that, the older woman hung up. Charlotte wanted nothing more than to toss her phone out the window.
Chloe grinned at her friend, "... So, how's Penelope?" she asked.
Charlotte glared back at her, "Why is talking to my mother for forty minutes more exhausting than a transatlantic flight?"
"Because she's crazy," Chloe stated simply, "No offense -- but I mean, helter skelter hippies? What does she think this is? The Manson Murders?"
"I don't even know anymore," Charlotte peeled herself off the couch and went to collapse on the twin bed, "The woman is like a damn gas leak. I don't see her or hear her for a multitude of time, but she's slowly trying to kill me,"
"Maybe you ought to get her Xanax for Christmas," Chloe smirked.
Charlotte crawled under the blankets, fully prepared for a twelve-hour nap, "Xanax wouldn't be strong enough. I need some elephant tranquilizers,"
"Isn't that shit toxic for humans?"
"I don't know. But we'll find out,"
Chloe huffed and grabbed the chord to draw the curtains closed, crawling back into her own bed for a nap, "Get some rest Charlie, you'll feel better,"
"Mmhm," Charlotte already had her eyes closed and was willing herself to sink into some sleep. However, her phone buzzed with another text and she swore she was going to hit the ceiling.
"Oh my God! This woman!" she grabbed the phone to turn it off, but her blood ran cold when she saw it wasn't her mom who had sent her a text.
"Hewy Char"
"II miss yo,"
"I'm sdtill down if yaou arey?
"Jus forq a night?"
"It's Ben, by the wak,"
Clearly he was drunk, so it gave Charlotte no satisfaction that he was only texting her because he was inebriated. She could've sworn she blocked his number, anyways. But how disrespectful could a person be? Not only to their ex, but to themselves as well?
"What is it?" Chloe asked, noting Charlotte's despondent silence, "Is it your mom?"
Charlotte felt a cold shiver ripple down her spine. Apart from anger, the only thing that pumped through her blood was fear. The thought of him coming anywhere near her again nearly had her on the brink of tears. Years of forgotten manipulation and abuse came flooding back in the blink of an eye and Charlotte felt she was back in her apartment, cold, alone and shattered.
So she immediately blocked his number and deleted the texts.
"No, it's just data warnings," Charlotte replied, swallowing the dense lump in her throat, "Nothing important,"

how did the boulder and dk meet? did it take long for them to become best friends?
Oh, it's a long story! I'll put it under the cut.
It was a contract, one The Boulder didn't particularly want to take because it involved working with other people and setting up a stakeout rather than traveling freely, but also one that paid reasonably well and seemed like a fair cause. A careles fiend was hunting deer in the woods near the Starstride village - in late spring! Fawns are born at that time, and are too small and weak to be independent from their mothers. The untimely hunting would rob the local archers of work later that year's fall, or worse - harm the herd so severely that it would leave the woods completely. The contract was to find the fiend and drive them away by any means necessary.
The Boulder worked with two local hunters, a farmer who claimed to have spotted the fiend once, and a soldier stationed in Starstride to supervise the whole ordeal. They ventured into the woods and set up camp, expecting a good few days of scouting and trap-making, but an otherwise simple resolution to their task.
Hell rained upon them from day one.
The food they brought began to turn foul out of nowhere - meat rotting, cheese and fruit growing mold, even salt got ants and bugs in it. They tried to catch fish, but it turned up green and sickly, with a rancid smell and a layer of slime on its back. At night, when trying to keep a campfire, they would find the wood turning to dust unfathomably quickly, and soon solid logs would crumble in their hands like rotten old twigs.
The strangest of all were the injuries. On the second day, the farmer cut his foot on a thorny tree root sticking out of the ground. The next day, one of the hunters ate some berries of a familiar bush and got so sick to his stomach the soldier had to take him back to the village to get treated.
When a bird swooped down and tried to poke out his last eye, The Boulder has finally had enough. The fiend left no tracks, and so he had the bright idea to stand in the middle of his camp and yell at the trees. He was itching for a duel but asked for a truce instead - he was no coward, but the magic frightened him awfully.
He had to shout for a stubbornly long time, but the answer finally came in the form of an acorn dropped on his head. The fiend kept out of sight but beckoned him with whispers and hints, inviting him for a private meeting away from his camp.
She met him in her best manner, thorny vines weaving around her shoulders like snakes, black flames of ancient forest magic dancing on the tips of her fingers, and an aura so bitter and vile it turned the trees gray.
He fell flat on his ass, paralyzed with fear.
"Keep away from the woods," she said furiously, "and leave our deer alone."
He wanted to explain himself, but his tongue was glued to the roof of his mouth. A copy of his contract burned a hole in his side, where it was tucked under the belt, but his hands were clutching his swords, forcefully stiff so as to conceal shaking.
As a final warning, her eyes sparkled yellow, and a strange mark appeared in the middle of his chest - then she vanished in a puff of black smoke.
He barely got back to camp, too sick to stand on his feet, but his mind was made up: whatever sneaky bandit was killing the deer and turning the forest witch against him, he was going to catch him by the scruff of his neck and throw him to her feet.
The next day, his remaining companions headed back to the village. He stayed, citing the terms of his contract. Made two more traps. Slept through half the day to combat his magically induced sickness.
He abandoned the farmer's sightings and went instead to where he'd go if he were a frivolous hunter - and indeed, there was soon the whistle of an arrow slicing the cold evening air.
Only the fiend was not one, but many - a small group of large, armed men have made themselves home in the woods. The air around them smelled of magic - it wasn't too rare for a traveler to know way-finding, fire-keeping, or, in their case, masterful concealing of their intruding presence.
Outnumbered but not outclassed, The Boulder jumped them that night.
The fight lasted longer than he would like, and with the mark of the witch eating through his chest, strength drained from his body faster than he could compensate for with reserved movements, careful parries and precise, perfectly timed strikes. One of his opponents sliced across his stomach, and the last thing he remembered was a blanket of sickly yellow leaves covering the ground.
Then the hunters were gone, and so was the mark on The Boulder's chest.
He turned the contract in and immediately ventured back into the forest. He shouted at the trees for a whole day, and a whole night, and another day - until his voice wouldn't raise above a whisper, and even then he kept straining it, calling for the witch, insisting that he only wanted to talk. Finally, the answer came, and this time she appeared before him calmly, stepping out of the woods in a person-like manner, with no thorns and no magic, only her arms crossed over her chest, pragmatic and moderately bored.
"Don't curse me again," he told her pointlessly, "I've come to return your share." With that, he handed her a purse with half the pay for the contract.
"Why would I curse you?" she asked curiously.
He shrugged.
"What's this?" she weighed the purse in her hand.
"Copper. I got the quartermaster to help me count it. It's all fair."
She sat on the grass with her legs crossed, pulled out a coin, put it in her mouth and started chewing. He sat opposite of her and watched with anticipation. She chewed slowly, deliberately, for a very long time before she finally declared: "I can't eat this."
He smiled but, for the fear of being turned into a frog, said nothing.
"Why did you come?" she asked.
"To make peace," he replied truthfully. "You are powerful, and I have no fight with you. I did not harm your deer. They will though. Come fall, the hunters will."
She fished another coin out of the purse and tried to bite on it. "They may come, in due time. Such is their nature. The deer will be strong by then. Hard to catch."
He couldn't help a relieved sigh, and stood up to leave.
"Will you come again?" she asked in the same mildly interested tone.
And, well, that you don't refuse a mage and get away with it is one thing, but then The Boulder has always been a curious man in nature. "Will I have to shout again?" he asked in return, in the way of confirmation.
"Just come here," she said, a little irritated. "Bring something we can eat."
And so he did. This is the story of how they met. How they became friends is a different, longer story - or many stories packed in one - and I don't write them here because this is already very long.

Hundred Eleven. Part 3
Tumblr media
Pressing a kiss to his cheek, he slept through it all being small spoon and I’m glad because he was really driving me crazy with the constant getting out of bed and also I felt bad he was struggling, I’m awake now anyways so I’m going to get out of bed and see where we are at and see what Tianna is doing. I am so invested in this friend, and he said we can go on a date together, who is this man and why do I not know him. Grabbing his hoodie and and sweatpants; I am wearing his stuff, more comfort for me really. Tightening the sweatpants around my waist, putting the hoodie over my head as I left the room, these are all awake and the bus has stopped so I guess we are at a service station. Making my way to the seating area “morning” Tianna smiled “look at you in the corner half asleep, who bought you this?” Sitting across from her “Wadz got me a coffee but I need to get off and get some things, I was going to wake you actually, to see if wanted something. How was it? He’s knocked out mhmm?” She smirked “I don’t know why you are smirking nothing happened, we just spoke for a while then he said he’s tired, so we went to sleep, we snuggled and spoke which was nice, but he was horrendous in bed, like I think” I giggled “he kept getting turned on, and I felt it against my butt and he kept getting out of bed and then back in, so I don’t know how many times he jerked off” Tianna yelped out “oh my god, why didn’t you help him? Ok sex maybe you want to wait but your hand works? Spiteful whore” I blushed “shut up” putting my head down “nah I would be helping my man, and you did nothing, what did you do?” I shrugged “pretend I was asleep” Tianna snorted laughing “then made him small spoon” Tianna is laughing at me, what a bitch “now if that was me, I wouldn’t have sex with him but you damn right I’m nursing him” I gasped “shut up” I spat “you are such a prude, what is wrong with you, like girl. You should have done something, he suffered” I huffed out “his hand was on my boob at one point too, I moved it” Tianna is giggling “ok, so like maybe. I mean up to you, if that happens again. Just like I mean, maybe make out with him, no harm in hands used and then he can be a feign” my mouth hung open “you’re like mom!” I spat “I am” she laughed “oh I don’t know” I said, “not everything had to be sex, you can still give him a goodbye present and you know make him happy” Tianna is really like my mom “why am I not like you?” Tianna chuckled “no, Rylee you are you and clearly Oakley loves that, he ain’t mad at it either” she has a point “I heard my name” he is awake “asking that if you wanted anything from the service station” I said “yeah” he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of my head “morning, let’s go then. My treat” Tianna smiled at me.
Oakley made his way over to me “these chicken stick things are weird and nice, you want a latte” nodding my head “I do, what does it taste like? These are new” he held it out to me, taking a bite. Picking up some cheese puffs “this is nice, get me some. Did you have a nice sleep?” I asked him, I know he didn’t though “erm it was ok, I was happy to have you in bed with me though. Did you?” Nodding my head “I did, but you did wake me on few occasions. Huffing and puffing” he chuckled “oh shit, so you know” I smiled at him “I do know” he sighed out “I’m a man, and you are sexy. What can I say?” I sighed out “but I feel bad, how many times” he smirked as he ate “a few, it was a hard come down I give it that, it’s cool. Allow it though, I’m glad you’re here for a few days. Come, let’s get a hot drink” he walked off, maybe Tianna is right “try these though bro, they taste nice. Ti, do me two latte please and thank you” Tianna side eyed him “you have hands my boy, you fucking up them chicken stick aren’t you” Oakley laughed “breakfast, I am really hungry though. We need to stop over somewhere” walking around him “where is Imani at though, you know where her place is at” I mean we should just ask “erm, Ybeez can find out. Ask her manager which is your dad but then really I don’t want him to think there is issues, I just think it’s not my place but like YBeez ain’t liking it, he’s like she’s missing and we having to get a DJ out so when you see her tell her she needs to come out this time” nodding my head “Ti, text her. It’s ok I’ll find out” we need to see that girl; I mean by all means have fun but not at the expense of being on tour and fucking your name up and. Then being rude to Oakley, she will get it from me “I don’t know who gave her whippets, was it you telling about that” he pointed at Rimz “yeah, it was me. I saw her though; I was like in that friend group. Scoping some girls and yeah, I’m like oh. But I ain’t lie, I swear” looking at Ti, we need to see her today.
Tianna wants me to go easy on Imani and I am, but she better not make me mad, she opened her hotel bedroom door in utter shock “hey little sister” Ti said “yes hey little sister” I added and Tianna hugged her, I just smiled “hi” walking by her “how come you both are here? I didn’t know you both were here?” I am glad she didn’t know “well you went so quickly from Toronto, why?” her room is tidy, where is all her bags “do you not stay in here?” I asked “I do stay in here, just waiting on my bags but how come you both are here? Are you both touring” I can’t lie but I don’t have it in me with small talk “why haven’t you been performing?” I asked “I was unwell, my voice. I told dad and he was ok with it” Tianna looked at me, but I am not having her shit “yeah so why were you rude with Oakley? He checked on you and you called him dad spy and your friend made a remark? You allowed it” Imani sighed out “oh my god, why couldn’t he come to me?” she spat “because he is respecting dad to not air you out for having whippets, we know Imani” she gasped “Oh my god! His friends are so fucking annoying, they are the ones being nosey, I never did it” raising an eyebrow “be real, come on. We all have tried it but I want you to be truthful, if you have then say it?” she look so guilty, one thing about Imani, she can’t lie so this is her poor attempts at trying “we was just having fun” she shrugged “so you did?” Ti asked “I may have” shaking my head “so you did then, just say that then. You listen to me, you apologise to Oakley and that little friend. If they say another word to him I will whack her, and you! You should know better, and you do not take drugs, I will tell mom and dad!” I shouted “oh fuck off” Tianna gasped, I was about to go for her, but Tianna stopped me but she ran off into the bathroom, I am not having her shit “just relax, we haven’t come here to attack, she probably feels backed into a corner” I kissed my teeth “she is a spoilt bitch, please. Come back out here right now!” I shouted, who is she telling fuck off too.
Imani eventually came out “I was so close to hitting you, you should be glad Tianna is here for you. Don’t ever swear or tell me to fuck off got it? I am older then you we care you stupid bitch, those friends don’t! And Willow that ugly rat, let me catch her” she put her head down “just everyone getting at me, his friends are annoying. And whatever, I just tried it!” she spat “tried it and got unwell but if you do it again I will tell dad and you do not attack people for caring about you, once again I am telling you that you better say sorry to him. Who ever these hippie friends you got, they need to watch it” I don’t really bother Imani, but I won’t have her ruining herself “I just wanted to try it, I tried weed too. Oakley friend gave me that, didn’t tell you that did he?” rolling my eyes “maybe he didn’t know that, but I will be sure to tell him but weed is weed, I am not mad at that. Whippets is no! don’t fuck with that at all, have weed live life but please!” just drama for nothing “Rylee is right, weed is a pass, but Whippets we don’t fuck with that, you need to be realistic with that and know it was wrong right?” she nodded her head “also Oakley said if you don’t come out this time then YBeez will be telling dad, you lacking. You know what Imani; you should be glad we care. Those friends don’t care about you clearly, letting you have drugs, dumb bitches” I don’t like them now “they not bad people, we all try things! Please, I won’t do that again, just don’t get on my case. Oakley friends aren’t in the clear, they bad too” I huffed out “I can’t account for his friends, only him. You on about Wadz?” I asked, she shook her head “no them other ones, Rimz and some other guys. The ones that are on our bus” I frowned “why are they on your bus?” she shrugged “don’t piss me off Imani, why?” it's making me mad “Juke kissed me in a game” I groaned out “I mean he isn’t over thirty, he is young. But still, you know what” this wasn’t a good idea “I am not upset about it, we all played a game. Oakley older friends are with him but like Juke and his friends, the younger ones are with us, we have fun” Tianna cringed “I am going to kill him” I mumbled “it’s not a bad thing! Oh my god, this is why Oakley came, he checked on me and I just called him dad spy, he said that he would remove his brother but like we just having fun, they ok” I don’t even know what to say, “how old is Juke?” Tianna asked “he is three years older then Imani” I said “not bad, I was like oh hell nah” did Oakley know this, I am annoyed.
I am still waiting for Oakley to get off a call with Drake, he is with YBeez, I have all the boys in the hotel room, how annoying really “you mad?” Wadz asked “how do you know?” I asked, “seem it” I shrugged “I didn’t know Juke was on tour, why is he on my sister bus with his friends?” I asked him “there is only like two other friends of his, we was being boring he said and then he been getting all friendly with them and he jumped on with them, why?” Wadz asked “Juke kissed my sister in a challenge, but my sister isn’t mad at all, she is just saying but why” Wadz laughed out too loud “relax” Ybeez said to him “sorry but Rylee, your sister is not a baby you know. Allow her man, just yeah. Juke trying to slip in there, man. That guy” maybe I am protective “just, it’s Imani. I get protective when it comes to boys that is all” Oakley made his way over to me “I didn’t know Juke was on this thing?” I said to him “oh yeah, he is why?” he wrapped his arms around me “yeah and kissing my fucking sister though?” Oakley gasped “no way, what? Why?” he said shocked “a challenge I don’t know, she isn’t mad or upset but like what the fuck” Oakley chuckled “wow, I did check in and things were fine. Just that drugs thing isn’t the movement that is why I said it but if my brother is moving reckless I will move him” shaking my head “leave it, I am just being protective. I see boy and Imani I get protective” I laughed “you sure, I can like move him. I didn’t know he was moving like that” Oakley laughed “yeah, leave it but she will be saying sorry to you. I got to let her live, but she cannot be doing drugs, that’s a no” Oakley keeps smirking I am going to slap him “sorry, it’s cute. You get all uptight, Imani going to have a man one day. That footballer likes her anyways, relax” he got a point really.
Tumblr media
Imani is in my room, she won’t go to Rylee knowing that she wanted to beat her ass earlier “Rylee isn’t pissed at anything but you being rude to Oakley you know how she can get so just apologise, what be happening on this tour bus? I’m intrigued to know” looking back at the mirror “where are you going first? You look pretty” I cooed out “I am going out for a meal with Rylee and Oakley, and a friend of his, just seeing what he is like that is all” Imani gasped “Oakley! A friend of his? What friend is that? They aren’t the best looking and are slow” I chuckled “stop it but I don’t know, I’m scared. He keeps laughing at me too, well not at me but he knows I want to know so bad and he won’t give me any detail on who, I keep thinking I’m going to walk in there and it’s just Wadz say there but he isn’t the worst person” Imani laughed “have fun but on the bus we just vibe and talk, we was playing truth or dare and that’s how the kids came about but it was harmless. The only thing Juke gave me was weed but like I hope he isn’t in trouble” I shrugged “as long as you’re ok but do not and I mean it, no drugs!” I spat “do not follow people, look how that turned out with North, please. Learn from us sister” she needs to not let people influence her “I am having fun though, like I am enjoying myself, but I will be good now promise. I only enjoy weed that is all, nothing else happened. I won’t try that again” she said but I want to know who gave her that “so who gave you Whippets?” I am guessing Willow “nope, but a friend of Willow” I knew it “right” I just shook my head; I hope she learnt her lesson to not ever listen to idiots.
I wish Rylee and Oakley waited for me but no, they said meet us all here and now I feel so nervous because what if it’s Wadz, what do I do and how do I react, bitch Rylee isn’t fucking telling me anything, she just said hurry up and I even asked again and she ignored it, I am nervous. I do hate meeting new people, but I am here with my sister and I am praying Oakley don’t do me like that “come on Ti” I said to myself as I walked into the food eatery, cute little place this “three people are already here” I said to the waiter “Tianna?” she said, nodding my head. I am so nervous, what is even wrong with me, if it’s Wadz then I be nice, I mean I know him already and clearly Oakley thinks he is good so I will be nice, he isn’t a bad guy. Walking behind the lady, taking in a deep breath, the first face I see is my beautiful sister, she is smiling at me but this could be a smile of good luck or a smile of I will love this, Oakley just gave me a slight smile “just here” the lady said and I just did a double take, my my mouth hung open and then closed “huh” I just said and laughed “Tianna” Damson got up “you’re Damson Idris?” I pointed “I am” he got closer to me “I am Damson, nice to meet you” He shook my hand and then kissed my cheek “this is my mysterious friend” staring at Oakley in shock “what?” I am so stumped because what the fuck “take a seat” my sister is laughing “is this a sick joke, I swear. I am not even laughing, I was expecting Wadz” I don’t believe them “nah, nah, I am not joking. Sit down” Oakley said laughing “serious?” I am so confused, I feel a little flustered now, I wasn’t expecting Damson, not at all. I was expecting the latter of his friends “I uhm, I am sorry. Just it's Oakley, sometimes he can play a joke. His friend groups is questionable” he has such a handsome smile “my dad loves watching you” I blurted out “yeah, your sister was telling me actually. Funny thing is I asked Oakley for your number before you was taken, I am sorry about your engagement” waving him off “oh that is forgotten” I laughed out.
I needed some wine “so I need to know, how, what and why. How do you know each other and why don’t you rock together like the rest of his friends” I need answers “so Oakley and I went to the same school, he was three years above me which when you get detention, so when we get kept behind after school no matter the year you all stay in one place. I am sure it’s the same here, so we was in the same setting for a full week that one week, we ended up talking hanging out, just having frienship. He was a quiet guy, so was I. We just clicked and yeah, when he left school, he went college which he didn’t he would just lie about it, he was doing other things. He got into a lot of shit which my mother kept me away from, so I was banned, I went to college far far away, she was not having me hang with him. So fast forward, he releases one of the biggest tracks in the UK, we link up again and that’s it right Cench, but we keep in contact. We meet up, I don’t hang with his other friend group, we just keep it adult like, he is a friend, and we are alike just different paths, but Oakley kept up with the awkward quietness unless he likes you vibe” Oakley nodded his head “yeah, his mom saw me once and sent him to a college so far” Oakley laughed “but he is the friend, and he did ask about you but at that time it wasn’t the best so there you go, happy?” he smiled at me and I just ended up giggling “you got me good Oakley, wow” I can’t believe it “I know people too, this the boy” they dapped each other, looking at Rylee and she knows that I am happy because he is beautiful “I need the bathroom, you do too Rylee” I said getting up, I need to scream a little “oh yeah” she said getting up, I wasn’t ready for this at all.

Flashback, Midvale 2009
The cold weather of Midvale had started to slowly hit your body as you ran through the field with the rest of your teammates. The sweat ran through your face as you ran along with the group. The bright sky slowly fading into the sunset as the 7 pm set in. The cheers of the tea could be heard as you guys got back to the center after 5 laps.
Your mind never leaves the thought of your oldest sister being home from college, with hope and happiness in your heart at the thought of seeing both of your sisters. After all, it had been a rough year for you, and having your sisters with you was more than enough.
You were pulling your cellphone out to call your mom as you arrived at the dinner which was two blocks away from your school. Your soccer training shirt hanging on your body which had your last name printed on the back, while the grey sweatpants you had stolen from your oldest sister fitted comfortably and a little too big on you.
You were already making a mental list of what you had to order, two chocolate milkshakes, one pound cheeseburger, and three sets of fries with bacon and cheese for Kara. one all American burger without pickles and extra cheese, a half strawberry and half chocolate milkshake, one set of unsalted fries and one set of fries with bacon and cheese for Alex. one set of only bacon fries, one set of nuggets, one cookie and cream milkshake with double cookies and one no vegetables cheese and bacon cheeseburger for you. The rule at the Danvers house was that if you guys ate junk food during the week, then the next day you all had to eat the greens, and well none of you could tell no to your mom after all.
It had been a while since you had come to the dinner, after all, it was where Lucy broke up with you. You couldn't help but have the lingering feeling as you entered immediately looking in the direction of your old spot finding it alone, sighing almost in content as you walked down the hallway on your way to the register only to see two familiar backs and the face of your redheaded sister.
Her eyes had caught yours and without a second thought, you ran as fast as you could when Alex yelled your name. Tackling her into a hug makes you both fall to the floor, a beaming smile on your face as you hug tighter not wanting to let go. “Y/N!”
“Al!” You groaned happily as the two of you fell to the floor laughing.
Moments after falling into the floor, Kara offered both of her hands to pull you guys up but instead she ended up falling with the two of you after you and your oldest sister shared a knowing look.
And as Kara landed on the floor you flung your arm around the blonde and the redhead hugging them as tight as you could while having a beaming smile. Happiness radiating out of you like sunlight and for the first time in the last couple of months, you had a genuine smile on your face.
——
“Mom! I’m home!” You yelled as your redhead sister gave you a piggy ride. Laughing when Alex winced at the sound of your voice is so close to her ear. Entering the house the first thing all of you heard was the voice of your mother.
“Kitchen!”
The four of you moved to the kitchen finding your mother in her glasses at the top with a computer screen full of numbers and diagrams. Your blonde mother didn't hesitate to get up greeting each one of you before speaking in a more motherly tone than before. “I see you guys dinner, just don't stay up too late”
The three of you nodded before Alex let you off her back. And as you went to throw yourself into the cushion. Your mom's voice ringed your ears before you could even think. “I hope you are not going to sit on the couch with training clothes ”
Straighten the posture you looked over to your sisters to see them trying to suppress the laugh that you heard after walking upstairs. Hearing your blonde sister yelled your name after you cursed when your feet entangled together making you fall in the last step of the stairs.
_____
With the TV on, and Princess Diaries playing live. The three of you sat, well more like laid out between the couch and the solo chair which Kara’s boyfriend had claimed as his own every time you guys were in the living room. Your head was on Alex's lap as she moved her fingers through your hair as the movie went through. Kara was laying on the large puff seat trying to be closer to the food.
One moment Mia was about to have her looks changed and the next the TV was on the local news showing the Midvale college in an emergency because of a fire on one of the floors. Neither Kara nor Kenny hesitated before exchanging knowing looks, you kept quiet as the anxiousness began to creep your stomach when you felt your redheaded sister stop her movements, the moment she noticed the looks seeming to catch with the situation.
Both Kenny and Kara got up, sticking with the blunt excuse that they were going to the library to get some homework done, and before Alex or you could say something the two of them were out of the house.
____
Your anxiety hadn't calmed down since the moment the local news started to play, and it felt as it increased every second that went by. You knew what Kara and Kenny were up to, you knew the high school couple was the anonymous ‘superheroes’ the town had been written about for weeks. Your anxiety had gotten worse since Alex left and when you saw your blonde sister get out of the college with smoky hair, it had gotten even worse.
You couldn't even bear the thought of either of them getting hurt. With Alex beginning away from home, from where you could know she was safe and with Kara moving around recklessly with Kenny, whom you didn't trust wasn't helping either because it was the fact running around your head yelling at you and remaining you, you could lose them.
To say that Alex was mad was an understatement, especially after she learned from a very annoying reporter that this wasn't the first time your blonde sister had done something reckless. And with Alex murmuring every five seconds, you could tell she was livid, you knew your redhead sister enough to know she was about to explode because she was scared, worried, and more. Just like you, she couldn't lose anyone else, she was not going to let it happen again.
Midway through the silent riding which Alex sat straightly driving while your blonde sister sat in the back of the car while you tried to keep the calm of the situation as much as you could. You started to play with fingers nervously after Kenny received the Danvers glare from Alex which made the teenage boy immediately excuse himself, running away.
Your mind was so out of your head, you didn't realize you guys had arrived until her yelling voice invaded your ears, and the sound of the closing door broke you out of your trance.
“You don't get to do this, you can’t do this!”
Outside of the car, in front of the garage shelves both of your sisters stood arguing. The heated argument overwhelmed your ears as you watched them. As both of them stubbornly argued with each other, you got out of the seat and walked up to them when Kara made the wrong comment to a livid Alex with a newspaper in her hand.
“Well, who reads the newspaper anymore?” Kara said jokily to your redheaded sister who just shook her head in response.
“Guys?” You said as both of them keep quiet glaring at each other. In a blinking moment, Alex starts to walk away only to be stopped by Kara.
“The real world is about responsibilities about doing what's the best for your future and those you care about,” Alex says softly to your blonde sister, which seems to trigger the blonde as she steps back offended.
Kara yells after letting out a sarcastic laugh “That’s what I'm doing, I'm being responsible with my powers! And staying here with Kenny is part of that”
“No, Kara! What you are doing is irresponsible and stupid.”
“You've been in college for two years and you have all the answers?!” The blonde reproaches as she takes a step back from your oldest sister.
“No, I have seen what the real world looks like”
“Okay, then enlighten us with your precious knowledge Alex”
“Kara” You murmured only for her to hear as she kept her stubborn stance.
“There is so much more than this town, there is so much more than using your powers to save people. There is a whole world out there in which I'm happy and I'm more than sure you are going to be too ”
“So this about college now?”
“You just got accepted to the college of your dreams, you have already decided what you wanna do but you haven't told him. You are thinking of sacrificing what you want and what's best for you, don't you see it?!” The redhead yelled
“This is the thing I'm supposed to do, save people.”
“Dammit Kara, just accept that NCU is the best for you. Please, this is the best for you, let yourself go for it. Do it, I promise it's going to be the best decision of your life, it was mine and I can't be happier to be out of this town just like you are going to be.”
The moment the words left your oldest sister's mouth, the understanding and accepting silence from your blonde sister. Your eyes strained with tears which you try to blink away before trying to walk out of the garage until the voice of your sister pulled you out of your path.
“Y/N?” Kara commented as they watched your back almost walking out of the garage before turning around.
“I'm not going to just stand here, hearing you guys because I'm trying to hold on to something as the two of you want to get out of here without any second thought” You explained to them, keeping your distance.
“You decided of going to Stanford in a blink of an eye, like if you couldn't even stand to be here anymore. You come when you have to, mom was worried so you came that it’s why you didn't go to Europe but you are counting the minutes to get out of here”
“And since you started to date Kennedy, I never see you anymore. It's like you are here but you don't want to be because don't think I didn't see how your face lit up the moment NCU’s acceptance package came. And now you don't wanna stay but you don't wanna break the boy's heart! And I'm given false hope every day by the guy that you are going to stay but the truth is that you like Alex can't wait to get out of here”
Finishing with your lip trembling, and the obvious tears coming down your cheeks as the last few sentences made your voice crack. “I'm tired because all I feel and all I see is you guys wanting to leave just like he did. And I'm happy for you guys because you guys are happy but it's killing me inside”
You didn't even wait for their response before turning around rushing through the house immediately, passing through the kitchen unacknowledged your worried mother as she watched you rush with running tears with both of your sisters walking out of the garage with sorry expressions on their faces after you.
____
Both of your sisters sat on the kitchen island silently as your mother watched them closely, both of them would take turns trying to walk upstairs to see if your door was finally open only to fail as neither of them went up more than two stairs.
Your mom watched them under glasses as she kept working letting them think for a few minutes before she would intervene. She had heard everything from the garage and she had seen that it was worse than before the moment you ran upstairs with tears streaming down your cheeks.
Seeing Alex come back for the fifth time to the chair scratching her scalp as she sat, and seeing Kara stop eating the cookies she had baked yesterday made her get out of her chair as she spoke.
“I know, and I understand you girls. Because I have experienced it but just think for a moment and try to understand her position?”
Alex and Kara nodded calmly as your blonde mother spoke. Both of them were a little bit more relaxed than before as your mother began explaining.
“She is scared, and her coping mechanisms are not the best. It's scary for her because she is feeling you guys are leaving her just like Jeremiah and Lucy recently did. She is trying and sometimes things work for her and others don't but just like Kara she tends to hide her emotions if it means keeping someone she loves happy.”
“We’re not leaving her” Both of them whispered immediately to themselves questioning how you could think they would leave you.
“And she doesn't understand that you guys are going to leave and come back because some part of her is screaming at her that you guys didn't stay because she made you leave. She doesn't realize you guys are going to come back because she believes that if she believes you guys are not leaving forever then she will get her hopes up, which hopes are going to fall along the way”
“Just like they did with Lucy and Dad” Alex concluded watching Kara put her forehead on the island with sadness.
Alex nodded at your mom’s words before getting up and walking out to the backyard leaving your blonde sister with your mom in comfortable silence.  “Give her time, she has always needed it and that's the way she heals we can't force it but we can support it”
Your mom knew your sister well enough the blonde was blaming herself as she kept her head down. Your mother rubbed her back comfortably as she waited for Kara to lift her head.
“I- I should have known” Kara sobbed into your mother’s chest as your mom comforted her while the blonde cried.
The blonde said her voice cracking in the middle as the tears kept streaming down her cheeks.  “How could-.... How could she think that? How could I let her think that?”
“Honey, it's not that easy she can't help her insecurities especially with what has happened recently”
“I should have been here, I shouldn't have assumed i- ” She started shaking her head as she got up off the stool only to be stopped by the soft voice of your mother putting her hand on your sister's shoulder as she spoke.
“Kara it's not your fault, it’s no one's fault. She needs to believe you guys are not leaving her, that you guys are going to be with her always no matter what but now she needs time. Sweetheart, she is processing it, she needs to be ready to hear the truth”
Your blonde sister nodded without a second thought before seating back on the stool starting to eat a cookie from the batch.
_______
You sat on the disorganized desk with homework overflowing the table, only to be ignored as you kept playing the guitar with headphones glaring your ears with music as you played. Your soccer uniform was barely inside the laundry bin with the rest of the room full of cables on the floor, drums at the right side of the desk, and the guitar rack at the side of the bed. Your camera was sitting at the end of the bed table with the accessories while the basketball and the soccer balls remained at the side of the door.
You heard more than once your mom saying ‘Messy room, messy mind’ and until now you hadn't noticed the truth to her words. Your mind was over the place, your trust and abandonment issues coming to play at the worst time of the day.
You couldn't help but kick yourself remembering what you had said to your sisters, you couldn't stop the voice inside your head screaming at you because of your selfishness.
How could you break down and ruin their happiness, you didn't want it to hurt, you didn't want to think about them leaving because if you did it hurt you, it broke you. And you couldn't ignore it as much as you tried to.
‘You can't just ignore yourself hurting, Y/N’ That's what your therapist said to you months after losing your dad. And deep down you knew it was true but you had seen the smiles on your sisters' faces, you couldn't just be an obstacle to their happiness.
After letting everything out of your system, you knew it was normal that they would leave and come back. You wanted it to believe but you were scared to do so. Because if you did and they leave forever then you knew you were going to be devastated, they were a big piece of you just like you were theirs or that's what you hoped for.
The soft knock on your door pulled you out of your head, The grumpy feeling in your stomach didn't help the situation the moment you saw both of your sisters standing at your bedroom door looking very sorry.
Without a second thought, you left the door open, walking to the bed and sitting looking at your fidgeting hands on your lap as they continued to do the same. Kara at your right side and Alex at your left, the room overtook a complete silence for a few minutes before Kara spoke first.
“We are not leaving you” She claimed reassuringly
The lump in your throat felt heavier as they waited for your response, the silence which overwhelmed the room made you feel worse. Alex and Kara had shared a look as you kept looking at your hands before throwing each one an arm around your shoulders hugging you closely.
“We are not going to leave you, we are going to be here for you, always” Alex whispered into your temple after you kept silent but grabbed the redhead's arm.
With bloodshot eyes, you looked up to meet both of your sisters before you asked quietly afraid of the answer. “You promise?”
Both of them met your eye and you could feel their concern the moment their watery eyes met yours. They hadn't seen you like this since the breakdown you had months after your father’s death, the day you first went to the therapist and it scared and hurt them more than ever.
Kara and Alex without hesitation stakes out their hands with their pinky up, as you hesitantly pinky promise as they spoke simultaneously. “We promise”
Flashback ends
Sweat running down your face as you stood in front of the brunette archer, her face running with blush as she kept punching and dodging you. Her baby hairs sticking out of her ponytail as she kept going. The only sounds heard in the place were the shaky breaths the two of you released every once in a while
Thea remarked as she blocked your punch with her arm “Come on, princess that's all you got?”
“Actions speak better than words, speedy” You responded softly as you dodged the last three punches the brunette tried to throw while capturing her fist and twisted enough so she couldn’t get out of your grip without hurting her.
A sly smirk on your face as she struggles, finally after a few seconds you let go stepping backward. The Queen woman pushed back a little harder before grabbing the sticks from the side of the wall seeing you do the same.
“You know now that I see it, you do have good bone structure” She murmured loud enough only to be heard by you as she scanned your exposed stomach.
You shook your head as the words left her mouth, immediately beginning to hit her with sticks. Both of you missing a few times, scratching yourselves or the other with the stick.
Both of you were so concentrated in the sparring neither of you noticed the entering presence of Oliver until the man entered the mat with sticks and kept it going. The vigilante didn't hesitate in any of his moves and didn't wait either when Thea fell to the floor with a groan after getting hit by him in the stomach.
One moment the two of you were scratching, hitting, and blocking each other with the sticks, and the next the two of you were throwing good old punches. The two of you stopped the moment Felicity yelled for an emergency in the City Hall, neither of you commenting the way you had furiously gone for each other like people usually did in the Russian Mafia fighting clubs, for blood.

You Are My Sunshine
Note: I never thought I would write something that is over 4000 words again, but here we are. This is loosely based on the @coralloverwinnerwolf suggestion request that they had asked me.
“With the signing of these documents, Gabriel Agreste you no longer have the sole custody of your son Adrien Agreste. Adrian, you will officially be under the care of Mme. Cheng and M. Dupain.” The CPS member states pushing a formal document across the table. Gabriel Agreste was reluctant to sign but the piling evidence against him in light of Adrien’s rebellion stage leads him to believe there was no other choice. Tom and Sabine were ecstatic to take in Adrien. He’s a sweet boy that deserves the world and for the past month has made their home feel more like a home as Marinette now had a brother.
Originally, the CPS wanted Adrien to be sent to his Aunt in England but once taking into consideration that Adrien wasn’t as close, M. Agreste would do anything to keep his son in Paris, and the fact that Adrien himself made himself a home within the Dupain-Cheng household, it was easier to move custody rights to the Dupain-Cheng once proven how happier the teen had become. There was no need for a court appearance, just a small investigation that thankfully went under the media’s noses.
As of today, Adrien no longer carries the Agreste sir name as it was now Dupain-Cheng.
Adrien was ecstatic upon returning to the newest bakery location the Dupain-Cheng had moved into after deciding to expand their business once the two teens had graduated from college. Lycée was the perfect time to start over and forget their last two years of unhappiness. Though there were a few good things that came from their time in college. At Sabine’s suggestion, Adrien and Marinette had joined a foreign pen-pal program, and through that program, Adrien had met Jonathon “Jon” Kent, who was quickly taking Nino’s place as his best friend.
“Jon, I want you to be the first to know,” Adrien says as soon as his call was accepted. It wasn’t unusual that the Kent teen would be up at these times considering their time difference. Jon now wide-awake pushes for Adrien to continue. “I’m officially a Dupain-Cheng!” The former Agreste heir squeals with excitement. Jon squeals in excitement along with the former model but his were for on the hushed end.
“That amazing, Tigger. Was the process easy? Is Mars happy about you being her brother now?” Immediately Jon goes into a series of questions and concerns. Adrien couldn’t help but smile at the dark-haired teen on the other side of his screen.
“Mars is happy for me. We’re supposed to be taking family photos latter today to officiate it. You’ll probably be hearing Damian complaining about Mars once it's all said and done.” Adrien’s smile could brighten the world now that the looming fear of his father’s disappointment is no longer a concern of his.
“That’s good—” Jon looks off to the side. A flash of light passes by before a sigh of relief exits from the teen’s mouth. “Send me some of those photos once they’re ready.”
“I will.” Realization slowly began to dawn on the blonde, “Kwami. I forgot how late it is where you are? Want to finish this discussion later?” A small pout appears on Adrien's lips that Jon cannot help but internally squeal about.
After saying goodbye (or at the very least good night) to Jon, Adrien decided that maybe it was time to become the pestering brother Marinette always wanted.
“Hey buggy,” Adrien sings entering Marinette’s room that was smaller than the one at the other bakery.
Marinette didn’t mind turning her old bedroom into her studio after the move was completed. In fact, it worked out in her favor as it kept the work away from her when she needed downtime. The bakery across Françoise Dupont quickly became a hideout for the Miraculous Team and the location for Marinette’s MDC studio.
The moment Marinette heard her kittens voice, she immediately closes her laptop and turns her attention to the blonde male. “You need anything kitty?” Tilting her head gives Adrien a sense of security.
“Yeah, we haven’t decided what we’re going to do about Bug and Chat? I know you said something about meeting with Aurore and Mireille and having them do a special about us.”
The only response Adrien received was Marinette’s infamous, rarely used, mischievous smirk. A smirk he knows all to well and would hate to be on the receiving end of it.
Just a day later, Miraculous Out! a Ladybug sponsored website posted a video featuring Ladybug and Chat Noir themselves without the Miraculous Team, a rare sight nowadays. In the video, Ladybug wearing her newest outfit: dark leggings that are covered by a long slit skirt with the black and red polka dot pattern, matching combat boots, and a matching short sleeve turtle neck that is covered by a black motorcycle that ends but above her waist. Chat Noir now wearing leather pants with a muscle shirt that is often covered by a matching jacket with faux fur. His shows just as much as his younger teen version did if not a little more. For Ladybug, Marinette decided to keep her pigtails as her hair grew longer but opted for longer ribbons to be placed in her hair instead.
In the video, Ladybug and Chat Noir drops the biggest bomb to their fans. The iconic Paris duo is no longer just partners but officially brother and sister. That message put a stake through the hearts of LadyNoir shippers and the Ladyblog as it was the one eager for the two to become an item especially after a familiar voice under Lila Rossi predominately says that the two heroes are an item as she’s Ladybug’s best friend.
“For the past few months, Chat and I have been in an internal war with one another about how to announce this to Paris. This was mainly due to the additional attention to the LadyNoir shipping wars that were from the Ladyblog. Chat and I never and will never have any feelings for each other that aren’t platonic.” With that, Ladybug ends her statement and the video goes into its closing cards, basically saying stay tuned for other Miraculous news.
The second the screen turns black; Marinette turns to Adrien with the biggest smile on her face. Now all they need to do was announce that Adrien Agreste is no longer the face of his father’s company. This news was soon to be dropped once the photos from their family photoshoot drop.
The night before Paris is once again reckoned, the mischievous, Damian, and Marinette had a perfect view of seeing how two people can flirt around each other and not get the signs.
Marinette gave Damian for not ending the streaming on his end and taking off while she and Adrien shared a room to chat with their friends. Damian gave Marinette hidden signals on the verge of wanting to kill Jon and Adrien for their stupidity.
“If they don’t start dating in the next couple of hours, I will commit mass genocide,” Damian growls the moment Marinette decided to call him. Marinette laughs it off and smiles despite that he cannot see her, but he knows well enough.
“Let them be, it took us a moment to realize that we liked each other.”
Damian grunts unsure how to proceed. “They better figure this shit out soon.”
Marinette could only shake her head before the continue to talk about other things.
The following morning was great, well it was great until Marinette’s phone begins to blow up with notifications.
Adrien DuPain-Cheng @adrienwhopuns Papers finally approved, meet my new sista from another mother (@marinettewhomemes) [Attached to the tweet is a small collection of photos: (1) Marinette standing beside Adrien wearing tees that says “I’m the sister of a punster” and “I’m the brother of a mememer” (2) Adrien being surrounded by the entire DuPain-Cheng family holding a banner that says “It’s a new DuPain-Cheng” (3) Adrien pretending to pose as Marinette looks like a deer caught in the headlights behind him]
Marinette turns to her brother with a look of betrayal plastered against her face. Adrien didn’t have the decency to tell her about the handle change. There was no warning! No wonder Adrien had his phone on silent. Realizing that her phone will not shut up, Marinette turns off notification and narrows her eyes.
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes Replying to @adrienwhopuns Proud to call you my brother, you doof just try not to take over my room. #nolongeranonlychild #howmusthebeolder #punsvsmemes
This time Adrien looks up and narrows his eyes at Marinette. They were only a chair apart as it was a beautiful Saturday morning for the Dupain-Cheng household. Sabine was finishing the final add-ons for the strawberry and crème breakfast puffs.
“What’s going on you two?” Tom asks as he pours the drinks and set the cups down on the table.
“We’re internet famous, and Adri is trending on Twitter.” Marinette states with a deadpan face. Tom nearly makes a mess with the drinks but quickly catches himself.
“That’s good to hear,” Sabine says as she the tray of breakfast puffs over to the table.
Marinette and Adrien look at their mother with skepticism, it wasn’t like Sabine to be completely away from her children, but then again it doesn’t come as a shock. When Sabine and Tom accidentally came across the two teens coming home as their alter egos, nothing really surprises them anymore. That was one of the reasons why they had allowed the Miraculous team to hide out in the home of their other bakery.
Jon Kenting Me @jonnyboykent Replying to @adrienwhopuns I knew these photos were lit but I didn’t expect this!! @marinettewhomemes what were you doing in the background?
Marinette scoffs at Jon’s response to Adrien’s announcement tweet. She knew exactly what photo he was talking about and she doesn’t want to talk about it. Deciding that her breakfast was the best distraction from this ongoing shit show on Twitter, she begins to eat with peace on the mind.
Before Sabine took her seat, she called for the kwamis to join them for breakfast. All but Plagg ate in peace. Plagg wanted some cheese but after being on the receiving end of Mama Cheng’s glare he ate grumbling at every chance he got.
Adrien had finished his breakfast first; it was not because Jon had sent him a series of text messages begging for answers. Marinette watches her brother leave as she finishes her last bite and pulls out her phone.
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes Replying to @adrienwhopuns and @jonnyboykent What I do in the image is my business. Call me if you want the deeds.
She knew Jon wasn’t going to call her after posting that to the thread. Jon was probably in the middle of a phone call with Adrien before heading to sleep. Sabine and Tom watch their daughter leave the room with the kwamis trailing behind her, with smiles on their faces. To them, this makes it all worth it.
“Kitty, you coming or what? Luka and the others are ready to go.” Marinette shouts one day from the doorway of the house. She turns to see Luka standing sheepishly with his guitar on his back, Kagami with an eyebrow raises, and Chloe hanging off of Kagami’s arm examining her nails.
“I’m coming sheesh.” Adrien cries back before making himself known. Marinette rolls her eyes and walks out.
Sabine and Tom already in bakery, cannot wait to surprise their kids later this afternoon.
“How are things with you and Damian, Mars?” Kagami asks laying on her girlfriend’s lap as Chloe plays her hair.
Marinette heavily blushes. She and Damian have been dating for about six months after a couple of years of bouncing between each other. They ended up dating because Damian and his brothers ended up taking a private jet to Paris one evening and basically force the two into a closet. They spoke out their feelings and ended up trolling his brothers for a couple of days before announcing their newly made relationship status. Since Marinette isn’t seen in Gotham, the media has yet to link the two together as a couple.
“We’re fine, I’m more worried about kitten over here.” Marinette nudges Adrien’s shoulder who looks offended beyond belief.
“About what? I don’t have a problem.” Adrien counters as Luka plays his guitar.
“Your melody says otherwise.” The older teen states humming the tone to the melody.
“Luka!” Adrien screeches, his face turning red. The group laughs and proceeds to watch the clouds. The wind picks up.
“So how are things with Jon?” Chloe suddenly asks after a moment of silence. Everyone turns to Adrien who tries to look everywhere but at his friends. Marinette could see the rise in red reaching his ears.
“It’s nothing.” Adrien shutters out. The four looks to one another knowing the former blonde model was lying beyond belief.
“Uh huh…” Chloe sings the words out appearing behind the blonde male.
“He’s…” Adrien is stopped by his thoughts. What was Jon to him? A friend? A potential lover? His blush deepens at the thought of that. “He’s… I don’t know what to think.”
“You are in too deep for this,” Kagami states as she too saw what was becoming of her oldest friend. Adrien curls into himself unsure how to feel.
Marinette knows that deep down, Adrien was falling for Jon; however, it did make her wary. Adrien was quick to bond with Jon during the pen-pal program and nearly lost it when the program ended. If it wasn’t for the fact that they had exchanged numbers before the last, she doesn’t know what would have happened to Adrien. They were both going through a tough time when they joined the program. Adrien had a wake up called regarding harassment and learning that the real world wasn’t all fun and games while she, herself, was trying to rediscover the self-confidence that she had lost due to the bullying she had to endure because of Lila Rossi. It took months of therapy and talks with Damian for her to acknowledge that she wasn’t responsible for the person people created of her in their minds, and that was the tea.
Adrien’s wake up call was the reason he began spending more time with her and her family. Her parents say Adrien as the broken, lost boy he was and took him under their wing. Of course, Marinette wouldn’t change what happened for anything in the world.
Then there was an explosion happening in the background. Without speaking, the five split up to transform and regroup once they have all the details.
While Paris has grown used to somewhat daily Akuma attacks, they know how to avoid the fighting areas and proceed with their day. Sabine had left the bakery to go pick up three people from the airport.
Jonathon Kent had to beg his parents to allow him to go to Paris with Damian and Jason. Damian had wanted to surprise Marinette with a visit and Jason, well Jason just wanted fresh baked goods. Jon, on the other hand, just wanted to meet Adrien for the first time in person. For years, the two spoke through video chats, text messages, and twitter threats, but never had they had the chance to meet in-person. When Jon found out that Damian was planning on visiting Mars, he knew he just had to come. Their school wasn’t in session and if anything, really disastrous happens, he could fly back in no time.
“Hello boys,” Sabine greets grabbing their attention. Jason was the first to run over to the small frame woman with the speed that could match a dog.
“Hey, Sabine!” Jason greets back. Sabine narrows her eyes; she knows that Jason wants something, but she couldn’t place her finger on it.
“Hello again, Mrs. Cheng,” Damian adds walking over to his brute of a brother and the mother of his girlfriend.
“Hi, I’m Jon.” Jon gives the older woman his brightest smile.
“I can see why you and Adrien have bonded so easily.” Sabine chuckles lightly to which a blush crosses Jon’s face. Jon could hear the teasing that Jason was whispering to Damian about having a crush and a model, which only farther the blush.
Sabine sends him another smile. “Well, we should get going if we want to surprise Marinette and Adrien.” Clapping her hands, she begins to usher the boys in the direction of her car.
While driving across Paris, Sabine notices the swirls of ladybugs fixing up the city. This once gives her enough time to park, get the boys to settle, and start making dinner all before her children get home.
“Wow, this place is bigger than the last place? What happened?” Jason asks kicking his feet up onto the couch the second they arrived on the second level of the building. Sabine scolds the older male before explaining that with Adrien being added to the household and Marinette’s growing business, their old place was becoming cramp, and now that the two are longer attending Francoise Dupont, they could have to look farther out for a bigger home and bakery all while still owning the other one.
Damian took notice of the new photos hanged up on the walls. Of course, the photos that Adrien had posted on twitter, but along them are photos of a happier Marinette and Adrien acting like siblings. They had even recreated iconic sibling moments from television shows to make It feel real.
“Those two have made our lives so much better, and Sabine and I are glad that our little loaf has met you.” Damian turns to see Tom hovering over him. He had thought his girlfriend’s father was down in the bakery, but he was wrong. Damian wasn’t sure what to say, sure he had met Tom before and have grown used to the tall being, but even he knows when to picks his battles.
“I’m lucky to have her.” Damian states before walking away.
While Damian was already used to the environment of the Dupain-Cheng household, Jon on the other hand was having a dream. His excitement to finally seeing Adrien has finally caught up to him. So, imagine when he jumps off on the couch, nearly flying when the door’s knob begins to jiggle.
Their eyes locked, blue meeting green for the first time outside of a screen. Jon stares agape at Adrien who stares back with the same energy.
Marinette who took notice of the situation sneaks past the two and into the arms of her boyfriend. Jason watches from behind with a bowl of popcorn in hand waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“H-h-how?” Adrien’s voice squeaks before pulling Jon into his arms.
Even though the two are lost within each other’s thoughts they could still hear Jason’s laughter and the smack that follows.
“I practically beg my parents to see you,” Jon answers as just as flustered as Adrien. “Then begged Damian to bring me.” He quickly adds looking away from the blonde.
For a moment the two stay in their own world not noticing the flashes of light and whispers.
Not from afar, Marinette tries not to laugh, her lips purse into a fine line. Damian watches shaking his head and tries to grab some of Jason’s popcorn.
The next day, Adrien ran out of the bakery with Jon right behind him. They were going to visit Andre’s ice cream cart. All under the pretense of being just friends, but all who knew them thought otherwise. Marinette had decided to skip this trip in favor of walking the Seine with Damian then planning on making Jason a new leather jacket. Jason wanted to check out the crime rate in Paris walking around the area.
Adrien DuPain-Cheng @adrienwhopuns Ice cream from Andre is always the best especially now that I’d shared the experience with @jonnyboykent [Attached is a photo of Adrien and Jon holding ice cream cones with matching flavors that are similar to their hair, lip, and eye colors along with other flavors. In the background is Andre waving at the two with a large smile]
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes Replying to @adrienwhopuns 🤩Aw… you guys look cute having your outing an all that. How was the ice cream?
Jon Kenting Me @jonnyboykent Replying to @adrienwhopuns and @marinettewhomemes The ice cream was delicious. 10/10 recommend it.
Adrien laughs the moment he looks at their replies. He then turns to Jon, who was on the verge of eating his last scoop of ice cream. Jon, noticing that Adrien is staring at him, blushes lightly before they continue to walk. The walk was peaceful until…
“Adrien!” The two due turns around to see a tall dark-skin teen running towards them. Beyond the teen are two females with varying facial expressions.
“Hey Nino, haven’t heard from you since college graduation.” Adrien murmurs the second Nino had gotten closer to the two. Jon could only watch, clearly intrigued by this new encounter. He had heard much about Nino from Adrien and the downfall of their friendship as the final years of college came to end.
“Yeah dude, I wish we could have hanged out more. But you know how it is.” Nino states rubbing the back of his neck. “Who’s your friend?”
“Nino, this is Jon, he’s a friend of mine and the friend of Mari’s boyfriend that came to visit us.” Jon could feel the tension growing as the two girls come closer. The ombre haired teen, looked like she wanted to yell or hit something awhile the other wearing clashing oranges looks like she is about to commit murder. Upon seeing this, Jon moves closer to Adrien for support.
“That cool, dude, but when were you going to tell me that you and Marinette are siblings? Lila had gotten the whole class thinking you two were a thing.” Unbeknown to Nino, he had just proved the thoughts that Adrien and Marinette have been theorizing since the two had been chosen to go to a different Lycée than the one that most of their former classmates went to.
“Why would Lila even think that? You know what I don’t even want to know.” Adrien says. Subtly, he tightens his around the edge of his shirt. “Mari and I have practically been siblings for a couple of years now, and we’re much happy about that.”
“That’s good to hear, man,” Nino says unsure where this conversation will go. The aspiring DJ could feel the gnawing questions that Alya was soon going to throw at the blonde the moment he is done.
“Sunshine,” Alya explodes in the background to which all three males roll their eyes at. “We haven’t seen you in two years and this is how you treat us. Lila was your ex at the very least say hi to my gurl.”
Jon looks to the reporter as if she had grown a second head. Never once had Adrien mention being in a relationship with the liar, and for the years that he has known Adrien, he’s been single. In fact, the only times Lila even mentions is when she makes an outcry on twitter within Adrien’s threads. Jon knows that when the announcement was made, this Lila person had the biggest voice; commenting questions that Adrien didn’t need or want to answer.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about Alya. I haven’t been in a relationship since I tried it out with Kagami and that was back in college. I’m as single as a pringle and not looking for anyone.” The subtle side-eyed look to Jon said otherwise. Jon could have sworn his face turn red after realizing what the blonde had done.
Alya scoffs, “Yeah right. Lila told me you had done out on dates after we all left Dupont, she even had pictures to prove it.” She then grabs hold of Lila’s wrist and pulls the girl closer to three. Lila batters her eyes, trying to be a flirt, little did she know.
“Alya, anyone can fake a photo, there is a reason Photoshop exists. Knowing Lila, she probably showed you photos from our shoots and changed them. She did it once to Mari, and I have no doubt in mind that she did it again.” Narrowing his eyes, Adrien glance away from Alya and onto Lila.
“C’mon Adrikins,” Jon and Adrien wince at the old nickname Chloe had given the blonde be used by Lila, “We had so many good memories together. As much as I miss them, I’m much happier with my long-distance relationship with Damiboo.” The liar then gushes to which Alya joins in for.
“And who is this Damiboo, you speak of?” Jon asks, speaking for the first time since his day with Adrien was interrupted.
“Oh, it’s Damian Wayne, of course. He’s such a sweetheart. You know, I could introduce you to him sometime.” Adrien and Jon turn to each other, both holding in the laughter that was threatening to come out. Yeah, Damian is a sweetheart but only to animals and Marinette, beyond those two things, he’s everything but.
“Good to know, well it was nice seeing you guys again.” Adrien waves to the girls before turning to Nino whispering. “If you need to get away from them some time, DM me and I’ll give you my newest number.”
Nino’s eyes widen in excitement before he quickly nods. Nino misses his best bud and it was hurting him to see Adrien living his truth while he is stuck with everyone that decided to remain together.
While walking back to the bakery, Jon had some interesting things to say about the whole encounter. Never has he ever heard anyone call Damian by that nickname, he is amazed out how he handled the situation knowing how much mental damage the liar had placed on Adrien and to an extend Marinette.
“I’m sorry our outing was ruined by them, I wasn’t—” Adrien tries to apologize but is interrupted by Jon stopping and placing his hand on the blonde’s shoulder.
“I had fun regardless of them. Wanna try again later tonight, perhaps a movie.” Jon sends Adrien a reassuring smile who nods happily at the offer. It was a good offer and gives them more alone time before he had to leave with Damian and Jason.
“I’d like that.”
When the boys had returned to the bakery, they are greeted by Sabine handing an order to a customer before mention that everyone is in the living room. Adrien quickly grabs Jon’s wrist and moves to the mentioned room.
Marinette is annihilating Jason on Ultimate Mecha Strike III, his cries of defeat bring music to Damian’s ears as he reads a novel.
“So, did anything exciting happened?” Marinette asks her eyes never leaving the screen. Flawless victory. Jason sighs and turns to the duo then blanches. He hands Marinette a twenty and shakes his head.
“Nothing happened…well except running into Nino,” Adrien answers, though he wonders why Jason had given Marinette a twenty.
“That’s good,” Marinette finally turns to him and waves her controller. “Wanna play around, and while I’m kicking your butt you can tell me all about your encounter with Nino.” Adrien shrugs and takes the controller that Jason had left on the couch to proceed to raid the fridge. No matter what time of day, Jason always raid the fridge for food.
“So, Kent, when are you going to tell him?” He heard Damian ask as the video game’s music raises and his attention turns to something else.
The day slowly became nighttime to which Jon and Adrien had decided to invite Damian and Marinette to the movies. Marinette took one look at them before saying no and for them to have fun. However, what they didn’t hear was her saying, “Come back dating or not at all” after they had left the bakery.
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes Loverboy 1 and loverboy 2 went to movies. Should I place a bet on what they’re going to see? I swear it will be a sap or action movie, knowing my brother. [Attached is a poll with three movie suggestions.]
Sending off the tweet, she looks up to her boyfriend’s chin. They were resting on her bed looking at the starry night sky from her skylight. Damian had his arms wrapped around her waist as she rests her head on his chest. They love snuggling together especially when they know that his brothers, specifically Jason, weren’t going to barge in on them.
“Fifty saying that they won’t confess even after seeing my tweet,” Marinette states lifting herself up to play with Damian’s hair.
“That’s a fool’s bet, Angel.” Damian counters causing Marinette to pout. She hates it when he’s right, but look fifty euros or dollars can do a lot for her.
“Eh, you’re right.” Marinette decides to switch the topic. “I’m going to miss you when you leave in a couple of days. It’s fun having you around.”
“We won’t be separate for long; we have video chats to keep us company.” Damian knows full damn well that video chat isn’t the same as seeing her in person. His own family loves it when Marinette’s around him because he acts his age, a normal sixteen-year teen.
“Dams, it’s not the same.” Marinette playfully hits his chest. Damian kisses Marinette’s forehead before smothering her kisses on the cheek. Marinette’s nose scrunches with the amount of love he is showing her.
“As much as I love being in your arms, you know how papa gets when it’s late and you’re not in your guest room with Jay-Jay.” Damian groans but he understands. Instead of staying at a hotel, Tom and Sabine were willing to let the boys stay at their home with strict sleeping guidelines, more specifically for Damian.
“I’ll see you in the morning, Angel.” As he pecks her lips, Marinette smiles then waves her boyfriend a farewell.
Adrien DuPain-Cheng @adrienwhopuns Can someone tell @jonnyboykent that the movie wasn’t scary? It was a good non-horror movie. [Attached is a photo of Jon behind Adrien covering his eyes.]
Adrien and Jon had arrived late from the movies that night. Hugging each other, neither one of them wanted to let go. Jon ended up brushing Adrien’s hair with his hands as Adrien just rest his head against the half-Kryptonian’s chest. They stayed like that for a moment before crashing on the living room couch.
When Marinette woke up the following morning, she immediately took photos of them sleeping. Yes, these will be very helpful when giving her in-law speech at their wedding or for blackmail, whichever one comes first.
“Wake up you goofs and tell me about last night.” Marinette playfully hits Adrien’s leg forcing the poor teen to groan and move. He glares at Marinette like a cat that didn’t want to be disturbed.
“Morning Mars, where’s Damian?” Jon asks looking around as he wipes the sleep away from his eyes. Marinette answers with a shrug. “Ugh, I’m going to go get changed.” Jon then moves and leaves.
The second Jon was out of hearing range, Adrien looks down and murmurs, “I think I like Jon.”
“Of course, you do, you won’t be hanging out with him otherwise.”
“No, no, like more than just a friend.”
Marinette’s eyes widen with excitement. She tries to contain her squeal. “I knew it! You got to tell him before he leaves.”
Adrien rubs his arm; a faint blush crosses his face. “I don’t know; I don’t want to ruin what we have and—”
“And nothing, you like him, kitty.” Marinette became determined to get the two teens together.
In the other room, Damian was having the same conversation with Jon.
“About time,” Jason says putting on his jacket.
“Last night was so amazing, but—”
“But nothing Kent, walk up to him and kiss him,” Damian states crossing his arms sharing a knowing look with his brother.
“If anything, ask Pixie to help set the mood. I’m sure she already has it planned out.”
“I don’t know…” Jon literally was avoiding his best friend’s glare at him. However, they were right, but was he ready to destroy three years of friendship for a romance? Nope, the idea seems to be too much of a risk.
The two Wayne boys growl out in frustration, this was hopeless.
Damian, Jon, and Jason’s last day in Paris was met with tearful goodbyes and relaxation. Marinette was already making plans to visit Damian in Gotham while Adrien and Jon danced around each other.
They flirted opening with one another but never made any advances. It was driving everyone insane.
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes Imma about to kill a bitch if these two don’t kiss already.
The day was slowly coming to an end. After a series of goodbye hugs and kisses, Sabine had taken the boys to the airport. Never once did Adrien no Jon admitted their feelings to another and that aggravated Marinette to no end. When will the two just admit it already?
Jon and Adrien resumed their daily chats messaging whether it was through video or text. Adrien would come out smiling after each message which made the family happy to see once again after a day of pouting Adrien.
For months everything was going great until a news article across seas mention that the American heroes are in trouble. Superboy is down along with a few other young heroes. At first, the article was nothing and that changed when Damian had called Marinette and ask for Adrien. Jonathon was in the hospital. Immediately, Adrien went into a massive panic, nearly becoming akumatized if it wasn’t for Marinette grabbing the butterfly and purifying it before any damage could be done.
For days, Adrien was restless and worried. He calls Damian for updates every day hoping for a miracle. Tikki and Plagg reassured him that he’ll make it out. This goes on for a week. His twitter account less than active. He barely eats, pays attention in school, and nearly failed an exam if it wasn’t for Marinette.
Then on one faithful late-night Adrien’s phone rings. He was barely functioning when he had answered. It was Jon, he was okay and no need to worry. That short phone call didn’t ease Adrien’s worry.
Marinette’s and Damian’s one-year anniversary was coming up. Adrien and Jon’s daily chats became nothing but scarce. He would try and message the half-Kryptonian on more than one occasion. Sometimes he would receive a reply, sometimes he didn’t. Adrien knows that Damian is coming back to Paris to surprise Marinette. Marinette was working on a new gown to show to Damian as a tribute to their anniversary. Helping Damian was keeping Jon off his mind.
“Luka what am I supposed to do, I like him, I really like him,” Adrien says laying down on the chaise in the Miraculous team HQ back at the old bakery. Luka sat on a stool with a clipboard in hand and his guitar place beside him. This was becoming an everyday occurrence for the two of them.
“Uh-huh,” Luka nods writing something down before replacing the clipboard with his guitar. Playing a few notes, Luka knew what to say to Adrien and as a plus, the music calmed Adrien down just enough to relax. “Have you tried sending a letter?”
Adrien thought about it. Sending a letter wasn’t something he did for Jon since the pen-pal program ended and before they started to call and text each other. It was a start at best, but would Jon receive his letter in time? Would he even read it? Has he changed addresses? Too many questions ran through the poor blonde’s mind.
So, after thinking about long and hard, Adrien opted to send Jon a letter. He had to text Jason to make sure he had the correct address to the letter to Jon. It took him a day to write and have Marinette proofread it. The letter was no ordinary “how you’re doing” letter but a confession from the heart. He had poured his heart out into the letter mentioning every time he felt whole when being around Jon. A few teardrops onto the sheet of paper at least once or twice.
After sending the letter, it felt like something was lifted from his chest. Marinette was there to support him and hug him as he cries out his worries.
Nette from Mars @marinettewhomemes I never thought that I would have experienced a one-year anniversary with someone who is not from France, regardless, Happy Anniversary Dami! [Attached is silhouette photo of Damian kissing Marinette’s hand]
While Adrien was helping Tom and the kwamis calm down Marinette, who was is a mass panic about today, Sabine had gone to go pick up a group of people from the airport. Originally, it was supposed to be Damian who was going to come to Paris alone, but that plan changed with an addition of a way more people.
“I can’t believe, Demon Spawn managed to keep a relationship going for a year,” Tim says sipping on a cup of coffee that he had brought from the airport. Everyone in the car was talking amongst themselves congratulating or teasing Damian.
Sabine could only smile at the commotion that was happening in her car. It was always nice to see them, but it does disappoint her that Bruce couldn’t make it, unlike the boys.
When they had arrived at the bakery, the majority of new visitors ran inside. Sabine could hear the cheers and screams of happiness from her location outside. She turns to the lone figure who was rubbing his arm anxiously and gives him a soft smile. Sabine then walks inside and seconds later Marinette and Adrien run outside. Damian appears behind Marinette wrapping his arms around her as Adrien madly dashes over to the lone figure.
“Jon!” Adrien cries out crashing his body into Jon’s. Jon holds Adrien tightly as tears threaten to shed from eyes. “What are you doing here?” Adrien breaks the embrace to look him in the eyes.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry for how I treated you. I shouldn’t have—” Adrien's lips brush against Jon’s effectively cutting the taller dark-haired male off.
In the background, Marinette looks like she’s about to commit murder. “Great now I have to share an anniversary with him too.” It may have come off as mean but the mischievous glint in her eyes says otherwise. “Have him home before dinner, Jon.” She then yells back before Damian twirls her around and takes her inside.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for six months,” Adrien says breaking the kiss for air. Red covers Jon’s face as he pulls Adrien in for another kiss.
“And I have been wanting to do that for a year.” Jon then says breaking the second kiss. This it was Adrien’s face that turns bright red rivaling Ladybug’s former suit.
Adrien DuPain-Cheng @adrienwhopuns It’s official, I’m no longer single as a pringle! Thx mom for taking this photo! #yesimgay [Attached is a photo of Adrien and Jon kissing in the sunset facing away from the camera]
After five years of dating, Damian had proposed to Marinette first. Then Jon had to go and propose a little under a year later to Adrien. Both Marinette and Adrien had said yes to their significant other. What really got into a heated argument was planning the wedding. Marinette wanted to wait a year or two before walking down the aisle and Adrien wanted to get it done and over with. However, that was not the case as everyone wanted to get involved. Tom and Sabine wanted to make the cake, the Wayne’s and the Kent’s wanted to fund the weddings, and Marinette had to make the outfits for her and Adrien.
After waiting for a little under two years, the two pairs decided a double wedding would be less expensive than paying for two separate events and it work out seeing they share an anniversary day anyways.
Then the royal day has arrived.
Tom and Sabine are crying as they help their children get into their designated outfits. Marinette was wearing a laced white ball gown with red accents. Sabine had a family heirloom that the women wear at their weddings to give to Marinette. Tikki had given Marinette her ladybug luck as part of her wedding gift to the guardian and her chosen. Adrien was wearing a suit that was similar to Tom’s when he had married Sabine. Marinette had also made him a Chat Noir theme bow tie to match.
Soon the music was blaring throughout the venue. At the altar, Damian and Jon were anxious beyond belief. They thought, telling they're significant others about their nightly activities was anxious, but this takes the cake. Together they wait for the rest of the procession to end and the music to pick up at the arrival of their loved ones. At the end of the hall, Tom stands in the middle with Marinette and Adrien to the side of him. Tom tries to hold it together as he walks them down to the alter. Sabine was already in tears along with Lois as they were sitting close to each other.
Everything running smoothly. The officiant would speak to then as a whole, just that they had practice in rehearsals until the exchange of vows. Marinette and Damian had done theirs first it was romantic and just right for them. Then Adrien and Jon had followed suit. Adrien’s vows were very similar to the letter he had sent Jon all those years ago as Jon made the promise of never leaving him in life or in death.
After exchanging the rings everyone at the venue could see the anticipation to say “I do” between the two couples. In fact, the Officiant could barely the pronouncement of marriage before they had kissed their soon-to-be husbands or wife. Everyone applauded. Marinette was resting her head against Damian’s shoulder interlocking their hands in the process as Adrien was holding Jon closely never wanting to let go.

@sicktember Prompt # 15: Quarantine
Title: Priorities
Fandom: the Office
Michael comes to work sick and refuses to leave. The rest of the staff forces him to quarantine in his office.
Like everything about Michael Scott, his sneezes were dramatic and intended to attract attention. His co-workers were well aware of this, and could usually ignore him. However, when a person sneezes explosively several times as soon as they walk into a room, most people can't help but look. The loud, wet nose blow that followed only served to make more people look due to how disgusting it sounded.
The reception desk was right inside the door, so of course Pam was closest to the display. She did her best not to make a face.
"Bless you, Michael," she said hesitantly. "Are you ok? You sound… sick."
"Idt's ndothi'g. Sndff. I'mb fide." The thick cough that followed blatantly contradicted his statement.
"Okay…."
Michael made his sniffling way to his office as most people's eyes followed him. He put his things down and sat at his desk, then pulled out a tissue and blew his nose-- loudly-- again. After rifling through some drawers, he rose and shuffled back into the main office, heading toward the supply shelves.
He started sneezing once more as he walked past Dwight's desk, and was still sneezing as he walked past Andy's desk. Both men turned, giving him disgusted looks.
"Dude, no one wants your germs. Don't share," said Andy.
"I wouldn't share anythi'g with you even if you asked, Bernard," Michael snapped, grabbing a few reams of paper and a box of pens as he sniffled miserably.
Heading back to his office, Michael coughed wetly right by Jim's desk. Jim whipped around at the sound.
"Not cool! You're sick. You should go home if you're going to be coughing and sneezing all over the rest of us."
"Corporate is comi'g today and buyi'g lundch. I can'dt mbiss thadt."
Jim rolled his eyes. "Really, Michael? You came into work sick for free lunch?"
"I'm the regional mbanager. If corporate comes, I should be here. For the free lundch. Also I mbaaay have run oud of sigck days. Budt really, I'mb fide. Ndothi'g to worry aboudt."
Most people sighed or rolled their eyes, but the behavior was so typically Michael that they knew it was pointless to argue. Michael shuffled his way back into his office and closed the door, keeping his germs contained for the time being, so everyone tried to go back to working and ignoring him as usual.
However, he made himself very difficult to ignore, with repeated, explosive sneezes that he hardly covered, let alone muffled. He also seemed more inclined than usual to wander around the office, getting into people's way, apparently determined to make everyone aware of his illness.
Angela immediately put on a surgical mask and rubber gloves, as did Oscar. Phyllis walked away whenever he came near. Creed seemed to be trying to get Michael to sneeze directly onto him. Stanley somehow rolled his eyes even more than usual, hiding behind his computer monitor whenever their boss was in the vicinity.
Two hours into the workday, everyone was fed up with him. The next time Michael tried to leave his office, Dwight leapt up, standing in the doorway with a cloth over his face, blocking Michael's path.
"Stop right there. I'm sorry I have to do this Michael, but you're putting this whole office at risk of infection. I can't allow this to continue. So effective immediately, I'm sentencing you to be quarantined in your office for the rest of the day. You will be allowed to emerge for lunch only. This is for your own good."
Michael had the gall to look shocked. "Budt… whadt aboudt bathroom breaks?"
"I will allow you to go once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Just don't drink much today."
"You're idsade."
"It must be done. We can't risk everyone being out of commission at once. The men in the office will take shifts guarding your door so you don't try to escape. Let us know if you need anything and we'll do our best to accommodate."
Most of the men protested loudly. Jim and Pam shared an amused look, then Jim stood up.
"I volunteer for the first guard shift. If it gets me out of work, I'm all for it."
"Way to be a team player, Jim," Dwight said approvingly, returning to his desk.
Once more everyone tried to get back to work, except Jim, who was having a lot of fun teasing Michael. Jim pretended he couldn't understand what his boss was saying, forcing Michael to pantomime that he was hungry, at which point Jim began to toss a single cheese puff at a time through the cracked office door, which kept Michael occupied for quite some time. Pam watched the whole thing, giggling every now and then. It was quite distracting to the the rest of the office too, though most pretended to ignore them.
Once Michael's hunger was sated, and it was clear everyone was serious about keeping him quarantined, he sat at his desk and actually tried to work for a while. His illness started to get the better of him however, and his eyes grew heavy. In no time he was fast asleep on his desk with his head pillowed in his arms and snoring loudly.
Shortly after he fell asleep, corporate arrived with the caterers and began to set up for lunch while Michael slept on. Noon rolled around and he was still sleeping, so everyone quietly went to the conference room to eat, leaving him alone in his office.
"I kinda feel bad for him," Pam murmured as they ate their free sandwiches. "He probably really doesn't feel well. Some food would probably help."
"Do you want to be the one to go wake him up? Because I'm not doing it," Jim said. "I prefer my sandwiches mucus-free, and these won't be if he comes in here right now. Just let him sleep. He needs it."
"So… when are you gonna wake him then?"
"If we're lucky… at 4:55 as I'm walking out the door."

The Story of Merida and Hiccup part 5
Chapter 5-Touch the sky
Hiccup yawned as he was cooling a hot piece of met into a bucket of water. He have up early to remake Toothless's tail fin, he did this so less people would see and question him. Hiccup had been at DunBroch for four days and Merida was able to have a tent set up. She also asked for Blacksmith tools and equipment, Hiccup did wonder how to thank her for anything she done from him and Toothless.
He place the already cooled piece flat on table before watching over his drawings, seeing if anything needs changing.
"Hiccup? You're in it?" Hiccup turned to see Merida walking in with tray for fruits, bread and cheese.
"Hey, sorry about missing breakfast with your family" Hiccup said as Merida gave he the plate.
"No, it's understandable, mum is more worry about you being hungry" Merida explained smiling as she crossing her arms as Hiccup took a bite of bread. "mum wanted the services to send some food but I suggested I'll make it, annnd I brought a wee treat for late" and she then placed the sweet cake next to Hiccup.
"Thank you" Hiccup said then added "did you make this cake"
"No"
"Oh that's ok. Just wanted to sure it doesn't turn me into a bear"
Merida couldn't help but laugh at the joke, she should had seen that coming. Her eye then fell upon Hiccup's drawing, she didn't understand them but she known what they were.
"Are these the designs from the tail?" Merida asked.
"Yeah" Hiccup replied as he joined Merida "I drew from what would left, added what would broken and did some minor changes that need alternates. I just need to make two more picses and saw up the leather for the fin and then we're good to go"
"Hic, if it's ok with you. Would you mind if I sew the fin for you" Merida asked him. She was surprised about her offering to help for she haven't done something like that for before.
"You sew?" Hiccup said in surprised, Hiccup thought Merida couldn't sew for what she told him. So this was a real shock.
"Aye I do" Merida said crossing her arms.
"Sorry, sorry it's just I never thought of you as the sewing tape" he quickly approaches, rubbing his neck.
"Well, there are somethings you need to learn as a princess and sewing is one. She replied reassured him "Who do you think made this dress" she added showing him the puffs on her sleeves.
"Oh you did? That's really impressive, I really like it" Hiccup said honestly.
"Thank you, it's better for archery" Merida answered proudly. No one ever complained her dress that she made, hearing Hiccup like it made her happy.
"Well If I draw it out and write the measurements then you can do while I try to finish these metal pieces" Hiccup expected at a moment "now where's that pencil?" And he searched for it among the papers.
Merida looked as well until she spotted one under a pices of paper "there's one" she said and they both reached and grabbed it. Merida got there first and Hiccup's hand was on top of Merida. The two frozen and they faces turned pink, there was that straight feeling again. They been having this feeling for a while, mostly when they hands touch. Hiccup and Merida looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
Hiccup's mind became scrambled, thinking of a hundred way to apologised. Merida meanwhile wanted to say something but nothing came out. Eventually they moved their hands with Merida still holding the pencil.
"I'm sorry. No, I was my.." Both of them said at the same and then the two started laughing lightly together with help get rid of the awkward moment.
"Here" Merida said and handed Hiccup the pencil.
"Thank you" Hiccup replied taking it from her. "I'll start scratch it out now and give it to you it once it's done" Merida was about to say there was no rush when they heard someone yelled at the top of their lungs.
"Right, I had enough of you three. Come back here" The teens peeked out of the test to see Maudie running after the Triplets which Harris wearing a maid dress, holding it up as he ran while Hubert and Hamish were a bucket all of cakes.
"There they go again" Merida said grinning, watching her brothers disappearing around the corner with poor Maudie behind them.
"Do they do this all the time" Hiccup asked closing the certain.
"Aye, they at less pinch a treat or two as day. We surely would worry if they haven't" Merida told him lening against the table.
"Oh, has their crimes mostly cakes based or do they do other operations?" Hiccup asked as he walk back to the table.
"Well, they know for the odd prank or two. They had started big fights during clans meetings and of course they did help me with getting mum out of the castle" Merida said smirking that the countless prank and trick they pulled off. She then noticed Hiccup food, it was hardly touch it. Then saw Hiccup head down, sketching away in deep concentration. "Maybe we should have a break, you been busy all morning. Why not have lunch by the archery field while I do some practice"
Hearing Merida suggest made Hiccup pause. He was determined to finish the tail but he do feel tired and hungry. He really needed a break.
"You know, that's not a bad idea" he finally replied looking up the the Redhead"
"Good. I'll get my bow and quiver and meet you there" Merida said smile happily before heading to the opening.
"Err..where is the archery field again" Hiccup asked sheepishly. He still didn't know where places would and he hasn't been to the game field yet.
"You turn right toward the arch way and it's on the other side of the bridge" Merida explained. "Ok meet you there" and gave Hiccup a small smile before leaving.
The young Viking tidy up, collected his lunch and walked to the field. He couldn't help but think DunBroch was quite similar to Berk as he walked across the bridge. Not only the bridge but the forests, the food and the people remind him of home. Hiccup started to feel a bit home sick and wonder how his dad was doing.
"Ha, look at that gangly lad. He looks like a scarecrow" Hiccup heard a loud voice yelling. He looked up to see a group of men laughing they heads off. "I don't think the crows won't be scared of him" and laughed even more.
Hiccup was use to people making fun and calling names before he met Toothless. All know he would brush it off, deep inside it did upset him. The insults disappeared and everyone says genuine good things to Hiccup. Hearing these terrible words, brought back bad memories he thought they were buried down. Pretending he haven't heard them, Hiccup kept walking until he spotted some targets.
Hiccup sat against one of the target and ate the rest of his lunch, after eating he fell asleep. Hiccup didn't know how long he was but he felt something tickling on his nose, this cost him to sneeze which woken him.
"What the..." He managed to said. he then heard giggling, Hiccup looked up and Merida covering her mouth with one hand and had a arrow in the other.
"Sorry. I couldn't resist" Merida expected. Hiccup soon figured in out. Merida used the featured end of her arrow to tickling his nose.
"Ha,ha very funny" Hiccup said sarcastically but good natured. "I have to get me own back"
Merida grinned at this "we'll see" she said "now, for some practice" and she took her bow off the shoulder and pull one of the arrow out of the quither. "Would you like to try?" Merida then asked offering the arrow.
"Err no, I'm good" Hiccup insisted "if I did, I probably end up shooting someone in the eye"
Merida wanted him to have a go but she didn't want to force anyone into anything that makes them uncomfortable.
"Ok, how about I do some and you watch, then when you ready. You can have a go" Merida suggested putting one of hands on her hip.
"Ok, sounds good" Hiccup replied. Pretty soon. Arrows were flying from the Scottish princess, hitting bullseyes every time. Hiccup was really impressed. He heard about Merida's archery skills from her story and how he heard from her family. Seeing her putting back and then letting her arrow go. Hiccup was mesmerised. He then began to sketch Merida in his book, he made sure that all the angles, her stance and how to she hold her bow, he wanted to draw her right. He seemed to draw Merida's face longer. There was nothing wrong with his drawing faces but doing Merida's was different, maybe he wanted to make it perfect or maybe something else.
After Merida had her seventh round, she notice Hiccup drawing in his book. Curious, she walked up to him then asked "What are you drawing?" Hiccup nearly jumped out of his skin and he quickly slammed his book shut.
"Er, er. Nothing, nothing. You would find it boarding" Hiccup stuttered, his face turning red. Merida did though about asking again but decided against it.
"Ok. It's your turn" she said and handed him her bow. Reluctantly Hiccup took the bow and then stood in front of the target. He loaded the arrow, shut his eyes and was about to shot.
"You're doing it all wrong" Merida shouted seeing how Hiccup held himself, his arrow wouldn't go too far.
"I know" Hiccup admitted clutching the bow "I never was good at it, wielding anything for that matter"
She sighed and walked up to help him. "Here, I'll show you" she said more softly helping him to ready the bow. "First, you need to open your eyes and you head need to keep your head forward, You need to see where you aiming" she moved his head to the right direction. "Then you need to relax especially on your shoulder" she then added. Hiccup rolled his shoulder, breathing a few times. "Now pull your arrow to your check, then focus on your target then release.
Hiccup pulled the arrow, looking at target. He hoped the arrow would at least hit the target. With one last breath, he released the arrow. It soared beautiful and hit right in the bull eyes.
"I..I did it, i did it" Hiccup cried in disbelief. He couldn't wipe the smile "I actually hit it"
Merida clapped and cheered for Hiccup "see, I knew you would do it" and punched slightly on Hiccup's arm.
The young boy didn't mind it for he was too happy to care. That is until a chorus of laughs echoed behind them.
"That boy sounds like a goose" one of the men shouted.
"Maybe he was one in another life" said another men and began honking and acted like a goose while his friends laughed.
The princess looked over to Hiccup, to see him trying to hide his sadness. She remembered his story from the other day, he mentioned that he was picked on a lot mostly for his appearance.
Merida's blood boiled as she turned back to the men who were still laughing their heads out. "How dare they said horrid things to him" Merida though as she stormed over to them.
Hiccup finally managed to pull himself together. He was just about to ask if they could leave but he glanced to find Merida marching up to the laughing men who weren't laughing when they saw the princess.
"May I ask, what happens to be so funny?" She asked with her hand on her hip.
"Well er..." They said, not as confident as before " well we never seen this odd boy before, we just having a joke..." One manage to say. Merida only glared at their terrible excuse.
"He happens to be my dear friend and if I heard one more heartless comment. You'll have a lot of time of thinking in the dungeons" she added which drained the colour off their faces.
"But princess is only a joke" one of the man pleaded but the Scottish princess wasn't buying it.
"Well if you still assist. How about getting my mother opinion on this"
"No! No! Please don't being the queen" they pleaded now their face turn white as snow then one man suddenly said " I...I heard my wife called me" for this the other men chorused...
"Oh yes"
"Me too"
"Just remembered I need to find my sheep"
Merida watched them huddled away with their tails between their legs.
Hiccup didn't know what to say. No one not even his father ever stud up for him, Also he admired that her fearless and her wit. He wished he have someone like Merida around when he was younger.
"I don't think they going to bother you again" Merida said reassuring when she walked back. To her surprised to see Hiccup look unsure.
"What's wrong?"
The young boy was brought out of his thoughts "Oh nothing, it just...thank you" he said smiling happily
"You're welcome" Merida replied relieved he was alright. "they're lucky I didn't try a new fight move my dad taught me"
"Oh what is it?" Hiccup asked
"He called it the head squisher, I could show you how it works" Merida suggested
"And now I regret asking, no I good. I wouldn't want to...what I mean is..is" Hiccup began is fumble.
"It's fine" Merida replied understanding "I'll show you some other time. Now we have a tail to finish "
"Hey but hope you don't know if we get fresh drinks" Hiccup asked as headed back to castle.
"Yes, it really warm today. I like a drink as well" Merida agreed.
As the teens walks, they didn't know they had been watched. Elinor, who was doing some royal duties where she saw the two, she saw them doing archery and saw Merida telling the men out about Hiccup. Elinor smile at them, it was nice seeing her daughter having a friend for Merida only real friend was Angus. She continued watching them as they disappeared before Elinor went to finsh her job.
The next day, Hiccup was headed to meet Toothless, carrying a newly made tail fin. He and Merida working tirelessly the rest of that afternoon until they finally finished the tail, Hiccup was dying to test it right away but it was getting dark so they planned the test tomorrow. Merida needed to help her dad with training some new guards, Hiccup said it was fine and Merida told him she'll catch up with him when she can.
"Hey Toothless" he cried when he saw his best friend drinking the water from the river. Toothless instantly ran and circle happy around his friend. "Hey, ok I'm happy to you" he put one hand around his dragon's neck. "Well, what do you think?" He asked and show Toothless the tail.
Seeing his night fury's toothless smile and his purring, Hiccup knew Toothless like it.
"Yeah it really cool. You know, I'm surprised how good Mer was at metal work. Even know she never done it before" Hiccup then said looking at the tail fin. As they make the fin yesterday, Hiccup taught Merida how to make metal, to bend it and everything he knows. Merida mostly done the sewing while Hiccup did the metal work but Merida did help him when he asked she.
He remembered Merida telling him a funny story when they were working. It was about his dad and a blueberry pie that end up he having a blue moustache for a week. He is though that Merida has a sweet laugh and was a wonderful storytelling.
Hiccup then noticed Toothless giving him a look.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Hiccup asked raising an eyebrow. Toothless answered by directly looking at the tail, The young Viking wasn't sure at first but then it clicked.
"No,no Toothless, she's the princess of my deadly emeries. It couldn't be anything more. Even having her as a friend as bad" Hiccup explained, he signed heavy and burned his face in his hand. Toothless walk up to his friend side, gave a small purred of apologise. Hiccup peeped toward his fingers and showed his dragon a small smile to him
"It's ok bud" Hiccup reassured Toothless "It just becoming so complicated the long we stay. If Merida knew the true she..."
"What are you talking about?" Hiccup quickly turned to see Merida holding the saddle with Angus beside.
"Merida!" Hiccup said blessing, trying to think what to say "I was telling Toothless about your dad and that pie that made him blue" he laughed weakly. he felt awful, he hated lying to her.
Merida could see Hiccup grow palm when he talk. She wanted the question him more but she shrugged and let it go.
"Hey Toothless I got something for you" she said before she looked forward her bag. The Night fury instantly perked up, hoping it was fish."it's not salmon but hope it's still tasty" and pull out a very long eel.
Toothless growth and narrow his eyes which made Merida confused
"Oh Mer, dragons really don't fond of eels" Hiccup quickly expected as he tried to clan the Night Fury down.
"Oh I'm sorry" she said understanding now and toss it away as hard as she could. Toothless immediately softened when eel disappeared "That mite be good to know if dragons suddenly attack us. We'll just launched eels at them"
Hiccup couldn't help but laugh at the thought" yeah, I really want to see that now"
Merida join with him "oh I brought this" she said after finishing laughing and held up the saddle.
"Oh I absolutely forget, Thank you" Hiccup said and gently took saddle. His hand brush against Merida's hand and that cause the two to bless. They wasn't sure if they knew but Toothless and Angus could sense chemistry between the two human.
Hiccup and Merida quickly step away before their blessings got worst. Merida went to check on her horse just as Hiccup began putting the saddle on Toothless. It didn't help Hiccup, seeing Toothless giving him a knowing look.
"Not a word" Hiccup murmured warning. It didn't take long for Hiccup to fastened the saddle and the tail fin on his friend, Merida in the meantime led her horse to the river for a drink while she brush him "ok, we're all set" Merida turned to see Toothless suited up.
"You do look quite handsome, don't you Lad" Merida said to Toothless when the dragon hopped over to the princess. She gently scratch underneath Toothless's neck who purred and gave a lick Merida's check, causing the princess a laugh hard.
Hiccup was made up seeing Merida and Toothless bonding. She was a true dragon ride, not judge Toothless or himself at first sight plus He did like her fiery spirit. Toothless then hopped back to Hiccup and licked all over Hiccup face.
"Toothless" He laughed trying to stop his dragon "you wanted to go flying, didn't you" he then asked and Toothless nodded. "Ok we'll head up and test the tail out"
"Can I come with you?" Merida asked. She did wanted to fly on Toothless for a long time since Hiccup told his story. It sounded fun and exciting.
Hiccup hesitate at first, he wasn't used to someone wanted to ride Toothless but seeing her blue eyes bright up and knowing it wouldn't been in the air for long.
"Yes, just make sure to hold on" Hiccup said as he climbed on to his dragon's back.
Wasting no time, Merida hugged Angus, rush over and climb on behind Hiccup as he hooded his leg into the special pedal that control the tail fin.
"You're ready" Hiccup said to Toothless and before Merida knew it, they launched into the air. Merida gasped, shit her eyes and grabbed on to Hiccup's shoulders as they climbed higher and higher. Merida felt the rush of wind against her checks, it wasn't until she felt the wind slow down. Slowly, she opened her eyes and took in the sight. She always imagine what was it would be like to fly but this was better that she thought. the highlands that Merida knew so well, looks so different from above.
Hiccup smile when he looked over to Merida, seeing to wonder on her face. They happened to fly above DunBroch Castle and looked like model and fingers of people from where they were.
Inside the castle, Elinor was looking forward some letters as she past by window. She glanced over and halted, the queen had noticed something black among the cloud. Judging by the shape, it looked like a dragon but it quickly disappeared. Elinor pause for a moment. Did she see what though or what's it just her imagination.
Merida breath in as they glide through the clouds, she reached out and tried to feel cloud.
"Enjoy the view, Mer?" Hiccup asked.
"Yes. This is the most incredible thing I ever done." Merida answered happily "thank you and thank you too Toothless" and softly patted the dragon on his side which Toothless gave the princess a small smile.
"How about we take it up a notch" Hiccup then said, an idea just popped into his head.
"Ow like what?" Merida replied feeling a little excited
Hiccup lowered the whispered to Toothless "ok, let's show her what we can do" Toothless smirk at this and then shot downward. Merida's hair was flying behind as she cluck on tight to Hiccup. He bless lightly by this but he need to concentrate. Just as they near the ground, they flew by up again. Hiccup did think Merida was going to tell them out but instead, she laughed. Toothless began spinning so quick, everything become a blur.
"Isn't this great" Hiccup shouted as they spurned.
"Yes this is the most exciting thing I even done" she replied and scream with joy. She love flying fast and feel the wind in her hair. After they stop spinning, they found a ravine and show Merida how they dodge and move toward it. Soon the sun was setting as the teens and Toothless gentle glide around the mountains
"Well I can say the tail working. We should probably head back now" Hiccup said seeing how late it was getting.
"No" Merida suddenly said then added more softly " just...just a wee bit long. I really enjoying the view" Hiccup looking out and saw what she meant. The glow of the sun makes the meadows, the forsets, the rivers and the mountains a mystical feel to them.
"Yeah me too" he agreed. The two shared a warm smile before looking over again. Enjoying this beautiful moment as long as they could.

“Are you feeling any better?” Spencer asked as he popped his head into the bathroom. For the third morning in a row, you had been in the bathroom throwing your guts up. Maybe this was due to a meal you recently ate, but you think you caught something from someone. It’s been a while since you got sick, so it came as a shock to you when you started throwing up without a fever.
“No, I’m not. I don’t think I’ll make it into work today. Hotch knows this, but could you update him?” you sighed as you slumped against the wall.
“Yeah, I will. Did you want me to get you medicine?”
“No, I think it might be going away. I don’t have a fever. I’m sure it will go away soon,” you nodded before getting up and flushing the toilet. Approaching the sink, you rinsed your mouth out with mouthwash before exiting the bathroom with your boyfriend.
“If you’re sure,” he trailed off.
“Spence, I’m sure. Just go to work. I’ll call you when you’re on lunch, okay?” you asked as you kissed his cheek.
“Feel better. Call me if you need anything, okay?”
“I will, baby. Go,” you giggled as your tall boyfriend left your shared apartment. After you shut the door, you took a deep breath and placed your hand on your stomach which still hurt. Whatever you caught, you hoped that Spencer wouldn't because he was the biggest baby when he was sick. In order to relax your system, you settled in front of the TV and put on your favorite show.
Spencer walked into work as his brain thought of what could have made you sick and not him. As he walked to his desk, he passed by his coworker’s desks without even saying hello. Morgan looked up from his paperwork to see the resident genius pass by without so much as a hello.
“Pretty Boy,” Derek spoke up, causing the doctor to look at him. “Where’s Y/N?”
“Still sick. She threw up this morning and the past three mornings.”
“I hate throwing up,” JJ commented as she walked past their desks. “I remember when I was pregnant, I threw up every morning for 5 months straight. It was one of the worst times in my pregnancy.”
“Yeah, but you made something so beautiful,” Emily smiled.
“Yeah, I did,” she grinned before walking to her office.
“Y/N just caught something. I’m going to get her medicine when I get off work. She’ll be better in no time,” Spencer said as he got straight to work.

Around mid-afternoon, your stomach was feeling a lot better than this morning, and you found yourself craving a food that you couldn’t see yourself eating. Grabbing the jar of homemade icing you and Spencer made a few nights ago, you also snatched the cheese puffs from the pantry before sitting back down in front of the TV before digging in. Something like this would have made you thrown up in the past, but for some weird reason, you were craving it.
Dipping the cheese puff in the icing, you popped the combination into your mouth. A load of flavors burst onto your tastebuds, and you moaned in delight as you ate another one. There was something so satisfying about the cheesiness of the junk food mixed with the sweetness of the icing. This snack combined with your favorite TV show was enough to make you the happiest woman on Earth. Nothing could ever ruin this moment except your phone ringing. You would have ignored it, but it was Spencer who was calling.
“Hey babe,” you said as you kept your eyes glued to the TV.
“How are you feeling?”
“Fine. My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore. I mean, it’s a little upset, but I ate something that should help it.”
“That’s good to hear. I was going to get some medicine for you after work.”
“No need. I’m fine. Maybe it was something I ate yesterday, but I think it’s gone. I’m having a snack right now that makes my stomach super happy,” you moaned when you put another piece of your snack into your mouth.
“What is it? It must taste good if it’s making you bring out those noises,” Spencer joked as he received a weird look from Derek.
“Cheese puffs and icing. You would think I would throw up just from hearing that combination, but it’s so good. You should try it sometime.”
“Last night you said you hated the icing we made.”
“Well, I love it now.”
“Okay, glad to hear you’re feeling better. I’ll call back later,” he said before hanging up the phone.
“What was she eating that tasted so good?” Derek asked with a smirk as he and Spencer ate in the break room. Emily and JJ walked in to grab some coffee, not knowing what they just walked into.
“Cheese puffs and icing. She told me last night that she hated the homemade icing we made, but she’s eating it with cheese puffs. I think that’s disgusting.”
“You know,” JJ spoke up when she overheard their conversation, “I had the weirdest cravings when I was pregnant. Cheese puffs and icing isn’t the worst combination in the world, trust me.”
“Yeah, I eat anything and everything when I’m on my period,” Emily contributed to the conversation.
“I have some more work to do,” Spencer said before throwing away whatever lunch he had left and left the room.
“Should we tell him?” Derek asked as he leaned back and crossed his arms.
“That Y/N is pregnant? Nah, he’ll figure it out,” JJ chuckled.

Grabbing the last tissue of the box, you blew your nose for the tenth time that half hour. The commercial you had been watching in that amount of time had you crying like no other. It wasn’t even something to cry over, it was a TV show called Chopped that was on Hulu, and whenever they announced the winner of that episode, you just lost it. Seeing that their dreams were coming true just made you so happy that you had to cry to let the emotions out. Reaching for another tissue, you realized that you’ve taken the last one and there were no more boxes in the apartment. Reaching for your phone, you dialed your boyfriend, hoping he hasn’t left work yet.
“Hello?
“Have you left work yet?” you sniffled.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt? What happened?” Spencer started freaking out when he heard in your voice that you’ve been crying.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Why are you crying?”
“Because I’m watching Chopped on Hulu and these people are getting their dreams when they win. It’s so heartwarming,” you started crying at the thought of it.
“Are you okay?” Spencer asked, worried as hell for you. When he left the house, you were throwing up and now you were crying.
“No, I’m not okay, Spencer! I need you to buy more tissues on your way home. Please. We’ve run out!”
“Okay, I’ll buy some more,” he said right before you hung up. He hadn’t even left his desk when JJ came walking up behind him.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Y/N cried when someone won on Chopped. She doesn’t cry at anything. I once saw her take a bullet for me, and she didn’t shed one tear.”
“I remember when I was pregnant, the littlest of things could set me off. I was a crying mess at a mattress commercial. I’m sure she’s just emotional.”
“Yeah, but… why?”
“I’ll let you figure that one on your own,” she chuckled as she patted him on the back as she left the office. Spencer stared after her with a frown as his brain went into overdrive to figure out what was wrong with you. Throwing up in the morning only, eating weird ass food combinations, and crying at something that shouldn’t be cried over. JJ did those things when she was pregnant, but you weren't--holy shit you were. It would explain what’s been happening to you. Spencer’s eyes widened at the realization that you may be pregnant. A small smile started to form on his face, and he rushed out of the office so quickly he was surprised smoke didn't form at his feet.
Along with the tissues you requested, he also bought three pregnancy tests from three different companies. He rushed home with only one thought on his mind. When he opened the door to the apartment, you were sitting on the couch with the blanket up to your chin and a roll of paper towels next to you to replace the tissues. Dirty Dancing was on, and that movie made you bawl even worse than Chopped. With a big smile, he closed the door and walked to you before handing you the store bag.
“Here.”
“Oh, thank God you’re home,” you praised before taking the bag and removing the tissues from it. Noticing there were three other things in there, you frowned when you saw the pregnancy tests. “Are you pregnant?”
“No, but you might be. It would explain the throwing up, the weird food you’ve been eating, and the crying. You don’t cry at anything. Take the tests and we can rule it out of they are negative.”
“I may be pregnant?” you asked as you wiped the tears from your face.
“We might be pregnant,” Spencer said with a growing smile. Getting up from your comfortable position, you walked into the bathroom before doing your business with the tests. Spencer waited outside for you to finish, and you placed the tests on the counter while you waited.
“What if we are?”
“You’d make me the happiest man on the planet,” he said truthfully as he grabbed your hands.
“You’d be such a good dad.”
“You’d be the best mom.”
“We might be parents,” you gasped when your brain finally connected the dots.
“We’ll see in a minute and a half,” Spencer said as he looked at his watch. When it beeped, you two looked at the tests with excited yet worried looks.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you and Spencer ran into the office to yell out the news you received last night.
“WE’RE PREGNANT!”

~ch: 7 Regrets~
The two under the table glanced at each other in shock. Whipping their heads back around to listen more carefully.
“What do police think happened?” … “Animal attack.” … “I guess.” … “like you said. Children go missing all the time. Its such a shame.” … “don't worry, I'll be fine.” … “Bye.” The conversation ended on a click. The principle jogging out toward the front of the building.
“What was that about?” Eddie asked in whisper.
“I don't know.” She whispered.
“ something killed a kid. … Do you think-”
“No.” Interrupting him. “Not everything is because of IT. It probably was an animal. We do get mountain lions and bears around here. Eddie getting that obvious worried look on his face. Pulling out the inhaler for a puff.
“You okay?” She asked. Getting a nod as he took another puff of his medicine. “Want to visit the nurse? I kinda do need ice actually.” Giving a smile to comfort him.
“Okay.” He nodded. Carefully sneaking out to check if the coast was clear. Waving Beverly to come out of hiding. For the rest of the period they sat in the nurse's office. Shooting each other concerned looks or ones of confusion. Unable to talk about the subject with the nurse sitting less than 10 feet away.
The ringing of the school having them separate. Eddie forced off to class as he was fine by what the nurse saw.
“Still need to ice your ankle?” The nurse asked Beverly. Who was laying back on the thin med beds with an ice pack wrapped around her ankle.
“Yeah, it's still really swollen.” This time not lying. Her ankle hadn't taken all that uneven walking off the crutch very well.
“Okay, but you,ll have to go to your next class in 10 minutes. If it's too bad today, then you can be excused home.” The nurse said before exiting the room back to her small desk.
Beverly sighed from her seat. Staring up at the ceiling on what to do. Did Pennywise not trust her to hold the deal? Did he toss it all aside after their conversation? Was it only a matter of time for some child to be devoured.
“No, this doesn't feel right.” Why go after one random kid instead of her, right then, in the nest? “Not even attempt to pick me off before i made it to school. He had a whole 15 minutes to think it over before i made it. Kill a kid, leave remains to be found so quickly? So much waste of energy for a tragic message? To get us pissed off and then what? It can't have enough energy for a round 2 yet.”
“ IT hibernates, but a bear needs fat to survive. IT needs energy to do the same. No way it collected enough off half an eaten child. He may as well be starting his hunting spree over like he'd just woken up. We know about him, he knows that, so he cant get very far.” Talking it over to herself.
“... I know about him.” Correcting herself. “Nobody else. That's not helping anyone. I keep this secret any longer our-”
“Times up.” The nurse pulled Beverly from her thoughts. “I'll give you a note to class. If it still bothers you, come back to call someone to pick you up.” The nurse reminded her. Taking the ice packs back to storage. Beverly taking her blue slip from the nurse to the class. Going through the usual of sitting through her classes.
Lunch time she went to switch books in her locker. Food service still canceled after Pennywise's sabotage of the cooker. When she opened the small metal door she found another rolled up brown bag. Grabbing it immediately to cautiously open similar to the last time she did. Hit with another strong smell of freshly cooked food.
Pulling out the white food tray to cautiously pop open that next. Inside was a large burger pre cut down the middle for easier eating of the massive half's. A side container sealing a hot batch of mac & cheese next to a mountain of fries.
“Looks normal.” Dissecting each little ingredient of the meal. Hesitantly taking a bite for the final testing of it. Nothing strange, tasting like a normal burger. No sudden appearance of worms or blood oozing. “Okay, no more of that.” Making herself sick off imagination. Packing everything back to share it with the guys.
Books sorted she went outside up to the tree they stayed under for shade.
“Hey guys, i got food.” Holding up the lunch.
Ben looking confused about why she was happy about it. “That from your stalker again?”
Eddie corrected the assumption. “It's from her aunt.”
“What?! So that juicy hunk of steak wasn't tainted?! We could have ate that!” Richie whined at the sky.
“Yeeeah, sorry about that rich. I didn't find out till later.” Beverly halfly apologized. “ i got a big burger if you want some of that.”
“Fuck yes!” Standing by her for the offering.
“Split it with Eddie Handing him half the huge burger. Splitting the giant pile of fries between Ben and bill. Stanley getting the mac & cheese to himself. Her eating the large remaining half of the juicy burger.
Smiling at watching Eddie pick out the tomatoes. Giving Richie the pickle slices who he watched with disgust as he straight ate the pickles plain.
“How can you stand that vinegary taste?” Biting into his burger half while Richie crunched on the pickles.
“No vinegar, tastes salty like Gretas tears.” Joking through chewing.
“You're drinking her tears now?” Beverly laughed.
“After it's filtered with gold.” Taking the official first bite of the burger. Breathing out as he chewed by the unexpected temperature. “Hot,hot, hot!” He chewed through.
“Y-y-you were suppose to blow on it dumb ass.”
“Like how i blowed your mom?!” Richie replied after the food was mostly chewed. Bill waved him off then turned his attention to Eddie
“Did Eddie tell you my idea? It d-d-doesn't matter much now if he didn't. Since the lunch turned out to b-b-be from your aunt.”
“He did. We tried to find out who got my book instead. We guessed it may have been a TA.” Her happy expression dropping. “We didn't find anything, but heard something bad from the principal's office.”
“What was it?” Stanley asked with a toss away of the empty aide container.
“A kid died.” Eddie answered for her. Everybody who was still eating paused for a second.
“How'd they die?” Bill questioned. Beverly noticing how on edge he was already.
“Animal attack.” Eddie answered.
“ has to be-” bill coming to a fast conclusion.
“It's not IT!” Beverly interrupted.
“Why not?” Bill holding back his rage to ask.
“ not every kid death is IT. Derrys never been safe for anyone even when IT hibernated. An animal can kill people once a year. We do get bears, mountain lions-”
“Moose and poisonous snakes.” Stanley added.
“Exactly.” She gestured toward Stan.
“Lets c-c-check the wall then. If there are more posters w-w-we’ll know.”
“I still have detention. If we want to check we'll have to check tomorrow morning. Else i am going to get double the detention.”
“A-a-alright. Eddie, fake an asthma attack and go to the nurse. Say y-y-you need to call your mom. Call mike and tell him we need an emergency meet up e-e-early tomorrow.”
Eddie looked at bill wide eyed. “I can't fake an asthma attack! I think the nurse will figure things out when i say “hey mike! Can we use your car tomorrow to investigate kids dying?” over the phone.”
“T-t-this is important. I know you can pull it off.” Giving faith to the nervous boy.
“Okay, but I better not get detention for this. My mom will never let me see the outside world again. It’d be permanent home school for me!”
Richie jumping in to joke. “At least you’ll have a hot teacher!”
“Shut up Richie!” About to smack the laughing fowl mouth jokester if he hadn't had moved away.
“This is serious.” Bill killed the laughter. “Keep a lookout. W-w-we don't know if ITs here or not.” They all agreed. Anxiety's high with not wanting to speak any more of IT.
The rest of their lunch turning from oddly quiet to words suddenly buzzing among students. Police rolling up in front of the school to meet outside with the principal. Catching the eye of every student to gather a crowd. Kept away by a few more officers. Rumors already being spread of what was going on.
The losers club stuck again at the back. Watching far from any possibility of them figuring out whats going on.
Richie turning to Beverly. “let me borrow your crutch. I cant beat a path to the front!” receiving a glare from her that hid an inner laugh. This was serious and not the best time for jokes.
“hey!” he caught the attention of a kid running off from the crowd. “know whats going on?”
the kid stopped with a grim paled look. “the principals kid was eaten by a mountain lion. They think he was alive during it too.” the kid spoke quickly. Sickened by repeating what he heard he turned green with a rush off to the bathrooms.
The losers turned pale. Looking between one another in shocked silence.
“same kid?” bill asked Beverly and Eddie.
Beverly speaking through a depressed breath of air. “we didn't hear it was his. It didn't sound like it.” looking to the floor, sickened. IT had to be on a killing spree.
When the bell rang everyone was escorted back to class. Moved along by officers as some students kept loitering for the gossip. The classes passed, the end of school came, the losers met back up before leaving the grounds.
“i made the call.” Eddie informed. “he'll pick each of us up around 7 tomorrow morning.”
bill nodded. “set alarms.” glancing over the others who nodded back. Speaking stay safe to each other when Beverly had to leave for detention. Walking the whole way there glaring at the floor. Pissed at IT for what it was doing. Pissed at herself for allowing this to happen on stupid hope that it would. Then there was simply being pissed at her asshole teacher she was heading to detention for. Yet when she walked in she saw the principal sitting at her desk instead.
“wheres Mrs. Bren?” asking the man doing paperwork.
“the breaks on her car failed and she had an accident. Shes fine, but wont be back for a while. For now I am taking up her work until a substitute is found.” he answered, pointing for her to go sit down. Returning back to the work as she did.
Watching him bury himself in paperwork pulled at Beverlys heart. Having to stay late babysitting with papers while grieving at work instead of home. All due to a mistake she made.
“ i-i am sorry about your son.” speaking her condolences as gently as she could. The man paused his writing, but didn't look or even speak to her. A moment of silence passing before he picked up writing again.
She turned her attention to her backpack. Pulling out school work to pass the time. Helping her mind avoid the thoughts of guilt eating at her. How many other kids would they see on the wall? Pushing the thoughts away again. Finishing some homework when the thoughts crept in again. Was IT biding its time? Waiting to have enough energy to gorge itself on children overnight? It wasn't long before she was free to leave. This time making it home at a much more reasonable hour. Greeted as usual by her aunt. Who soon noticed Beverlys low mood.
“you alright dear?”
“i am fine. Hate detention is all. Ill be relaxing in my room until dinner, okay?” covering her real reasons.
Despite feeling that wasn't the truth, her aunt didn't press further. “okay. I'll knock on your door when foods on the table.”
dinner came and passed with little conversation at the table. Through the night she didn't get a minute of sleep. All over the same subjects she worried over. Preparing for the worst at the break of morning. Preparing early before her usual time to leave. Writing a note for her aunt to know she left early. Greeting mike along with a few others packed into the small car like sardines. The air between everyone full of anxiety. The uncomfortable quiet broken by Ben.
“what are we going to do if ...” voice trailing off.
“we fight it l-l-like the last time.” bill answered.
“we couldn't even hurt it once it changed. We don't even know how it could have gotten better either.”
Richie butted in. “ah, some idiot crack head probably stumbled in and gotten eaten.”
“i d-d-don't care.” bill huffed. “this time w-w-we'll beat IT. T-t-then watch it e-e-every day if we have to. T-t-to make sure it stays dead.” his stutter worsening the angrier he got.
Richie chuckled over it all. “calm down bill before you suffer a stroke.”
“s-s-shut up Richie!” bill snapped. Starting his rhyme to break the stutter. “He t-t-thrusts his fists against the post, and still i-i-i-insists he sees the ghost.” repeating it to himself.
“guys! Now's not the time to fight!” Beverly shut them down. “time to get out anyway.” Beverly gestured toward the car window. Mike parking the car not too far from the wall bulletin board alley. Everyone piling out from the car far too small to squeeze 7 inside.
Although she was the first one out she delayed in approaching the alley. Fear having her lag behind everyone. How much irreversible damage was done from her mistake. Bill stomped up to the mouth of the alley where he stopped in his tracks. Starring frozen toward the wall out of everyone's view.
“what is it?” Ben asked with no answer received by the frozen bill. Coming up behind to also peer down into the alley. “ … oh ...” freezing also at what he saw.
The rest of them looked between each other then rushed over. Except for Beverly standing back on a sinking heart watching all the others stop at what they saw. She limped over to stop at the first glance of what she saw.
A wall of white posters.
Layered over and over to make a noticeable bulk. It may as well have been a layer of thick wall paper.
Not a spot of wall showed between the white posters. This wasn't like all the other times. When posters were layered up by three in one spot. Layered here or there with exposed parts of wall in between
All blaring large photos with the massive word MISSING in black.
Some already falling off in chunks under the weight of their stapled stacks. The fallen ones replaced right after by a man stapling on even more. A pile sat near by on a cardboard box for easy reaching.

Fade (Sirius x reader)
Summary: Ever since Sirius began dating Marlene, you noticed yourself having feelings for your best friend that crossed into a similar romantic territory.  After a night out and more than a few drinks, you accidentally spill your secrets to Sirius but realize soon after he may have been waiting for such a confession.
Words: 4972
Warnings: LOTS of explicit language, drunk reader
Requested by @sjriusblck (absolute FAVE) using
43: “Are you drunk?” // 45: “How much of that did you hear?” // 48: “You make me want things I can’t have.”

Though your dress was tight in all the ways Muggle magazines said it should be, your makeup done immaculately, your veins coursing with liquor, you sat at the side of the club instead of dancing on its floor, in a sulk as deep as the pound of the dance music which surrounded you.  And obviously sulking, too, with pursed lips and a forehead etched with frown lines.  Sulking at Sirius, whose long fingers were being interlaced with Marlene’s, staring deep into her eyes as if trying to drown her with them.  It was disturbing and uncomfortable and the car crash of all conversations: you couldn’t look away from it, regardless of the effort put forth.  Even as you lifted your third—or maybe fourth or fifth or sixth—vodka cranberry, stirring it as methodically as possible with shaking hands, and spoke to James.
“How could he ditch me?” you half-whined, half-slurred, fully drunk.  “We’re best friends but he picks Marlene over me.”
Out of nowhere James wrapped his hand against your glass, steadying it in your violently gesturing hands, which you hadn’t realized made the liquid threaten to spill multiple times.  “Okay, listen,” he responded quietly and sternly.  It shouldn’t have been able to be heard under the wild sounds of the club.  “I know you’re upset about this, but Marlene is his girlfriend, alright?  And you know that.  Just try to distract yourself.”  You rolled your eyes at him dramatically.  “Hey, at least it’s not like me with Evans.  She won’t go out with ne but sure as hell doesn’t seem like she’s holding off for anyone else.”  With reluctance but empathy, you pulled your eyes off of Sirius to sweep the room for Lily, who, once discovered, was in a similar situation to Sirius.
“It’s unfair!” you screamed, ripping your glass from James’ hand and slamming it on the table you sat around dramatically.  “Why can’t things just, just… ya know, work?”
James shook his head while lowering his bottle from his lips.  He reeked of cheap beer sold at expensive prices but you doubted you smelled much better.  If anything, your aroma was probably worse: James was only on his second drink.  “I don’t know.  But I do know I just want to punch that bloke.  Like what makes him think he has the right?  Touching Lily with his greasy hands.  He probably ate some nachos.”
“Maybe he ate some of those chip things!  You know, with the cheese and all.  They’re at the bar.”  You gestured towards the liquor bottle lined wall flimsily.  James’ laughter—why he found that funny was beyond you— was cut off quickly by the pressing of his lips to his beer bottle once more.
He exhaled after the drink, before warning, “Hey, I think Sirius is coming over,” as if knowing though you were already looking at Sirius, but could barely recognize the apologetic smile he wore or the gesturing of his thumb towards where you and James sat or that his actions meant he was preparing to walk away from his conversation shortly.  You watched the shape of him approach, almost more shadow than skeleton, ridiculously indistinct from both your intoxication and the swirling neon lights of the club shadowing his features in randomized patterns.
“Sirius!” you screamed, almost falling into him when he was close enough to catch you; or, at least when you thought he was close enough, since, in truth, he had to scramble forwards to catch you and your miracuously-not-spilled vodka cranberry from falling off the stool.  The touch felt lukewarm against your burning skin.
His eyebrows were knit together, lips frowning, voice much sturdier than expected.  “Are you drunk?” he asked.  Your hands were on the lapels of his leather jacket, steadying yourself and you could have kissed him right then, your pulse heavier than the beat of the music.  Get him drunk on just the alcohol in your breath alone.
But instead you answered, “No!  I’m Y/N!” while laughing, head falling back and hands taking Sirius along for the ride.
“Whoah, whoah,” he said, making sure you didn’t fall backwards—and that he didn’t follow—again whilst you and James laughed ridiculously.  “Guys, please settle down.  Y/N.  Hey, Y/N.”  You could feel his hands, previously cradling your back, slide around to your shoulders, shaking them to stop you from making eye-contact with James.  Shaking them unsuccessfully.  So with desperation and exasperation, he asked,  “Hey, can you look at me?”
While rolling your eyes dramatically, your face fell to look at Sirius with a smirk smeared across it.  “What?”
“I’m taking you home.  Come on.”  Despite the demand in Sirius’ tone and the shift of his body in order to help yours stand up, you sat, removing, looking everywhere but his eyes.
“What about Marlene?” you asked, body too busy buzzing to feel the tension your jaw held while asking the question or to notice the quizzical glance which adorned Sirius’ face once it hit the hot air.
“What about her?”  He looked back for but a moment, her small wave at his refound attention looking like a skin-colored blob to your drunken vision.  But the incomprehensibility of the action did not stop your heart from aching as if it were a stab wound.
“Is she coming?  Coming with us?”  You crossed your arms over your chest childishly.
“She’s coming home later.” he said.  This time he didn't look back and you were proud of that, as if you had something to do with it.  Hoping you did.  But before your pouting lips had time to open and demand for the importance of your say in the matter, Sirius’ focused turned to James as he continued.  “Prongs, are you—”
“I’m fine,” he cut off, hand wave and all, the motion still looking like an undistinguished shape of sorts because it wasn’t Sirius standing close to you whose body was moving.  “Gotta keep an eye on Evans.  And I’ll keep Marlene company.”
A knowing smile crept up on Sirius’ face, making the following chuckle of, “I see,” unnecessary, but he said it anyways before his eyes were back on your face.  The vodka cranberries made them look darker than usual and you wanted to drown into them like the girl was doing and really could have if he just let you.  If he just let you touch the curve of his cheekbone, grab him by his dog-tag necklaces, run your hands through his hair to dip and slip onto the back of his neck, press your fingertips into the gaps between his, tell him how much you had loved him and for how long and how your eyes filled with tears when watching his fill with adoration over someone else.
Your eyes blinked as you began hearing Sirius’ voice saying your name, snapping you out of your head.  “Y/N?  Y/N can you hear me?” he asked and you nodded lazily.  “Okay, you’re only getting worse.  It’s time to go.”
As if your bones were made of honey you slid off of the stool and into Sirius’ arms, plopping against his chest in weightlessness.  “You’re so drunk,” he said under his breath, with a smile so small you wouldn’t have seen it if it weren’t for your eyes being level with his mouth and jawline.  Once both of your feet were planted—or, truly, placed—on the ground, Sirius skillfully stepped so he was to the left side of you, wrapping one arm around your waist and the other across your back to your right shoulder.  Though it was awkward it kept your bending body upright.  From above you heard him say something which sounded like, “Be safe, James,” and you were off but at the pace of molasses dripping from a spoon.  He practically had to drag you and your shuffling feet through the bar and to the dimly-lit alley one of its walls helped create.  After scanning around in every direction, head resembling some sort of spinning top, Sirius’ head steadied and quickly after you felt as though you were being sucked into a vortex before arriving in your bedroom.
“Sorry if that was rough,” he apologized, yet contradicted himself when pulling you along right after the apparition, leading you to his bed.  “I figured that you probably were going to throw up from being drunk, anyways, so might as well risk it if it means you getting to the bed sooner.”
“‘M not puking,” you declared.  It should have been proud but it was hazy instead, as if you were exerting energy into walking as opposed to Sirius essentially carrying you while your feet slid against the ground, like a person being pushed along on ice skates.
Sirius chuckled while inching you onto the bed, and in the same way your body fell into his at the bar, it fell into your mattress.  You barely felt its springs supporting you as Sirius pulled your heels off of your aching feet.  Everything seemed so quiet suddenly, the creaks of a mattress and puffs of Sirius’ exhales no comparison to the roaring of the club, yes.  But you expected it had a great deal to do with being so close to him, the loss of noise.  When he was close the rest of the world disappeared.
“Sirius?” you mumbled, cheek falling against your pillowcase lazily to look at him.
Your question had ceased his movements.  Sirius’ hands were holding your shoes, one in each, while looking down at you, asking, “Yeah?”
“You’re my best friend.  Like, best best friend.”
He was smiling in the dim moonlight, and even though your alcohol hadn’t worn off quite enough to pick up on the definition of his features, you knew he looked beautiful, smiling down at you like that.  No amount of alcohol could ever take that knowledge away from you.
“You’re my best friend, too,” he admitted.  “Just don’t tell James.”
And suddenly it was slightly less quiet as you laughed unevenly, slur taking its balance, and head rolling back on the pillow.  “You’re so funny,” you said.  Sirius was chuckling too, but much more lightly, as you tilted your head back to face him.  “But really, you’re my best friend.”
“I know.”  He was still smiling.  “You just told me.”
“You’re my best friend.  And you make me want things I can’t have.”
There was already so much quiet, but now there was stillness, too, as you watched Sirius’ face freeze into a frown, his body jolt into a halt.  Then, in a whisper, “What did you just say?”
Still drunk and unconcerned as thus, you smiled at him cheekily.  “I said you’re my best friend.”
“After that,” he said with practiced calm, as if trying to not seethe it between clenched teeth.
“You make me want things I can’t have,” you repeated.  Your arm unraveled and reached out towards him, pawing in the direction of his full hands, unsuccessful in reaching them.  With a pang your heart realized Sirius had stepped back, avoiding the attempt at contact.
“Like what?”
“Kissing.  Holding hands.  Sex.  Maybe.  Wearing those jackets.  Leather ones.”
“With me?” he asked, and you nodded your head into the pillow it rested upon, looking up at him with a fearless smile that only drunkenness could give.  “I… shit, Y/N.  You’re so drunk.”
“Doesn’t matter,” you replied.  “It’s true.”
You watched as Sirius’ hands quiver, drop the shoes against the wooden floor.  With a surging movement, aggressive and strong, Sirius walked to the side of your bed as if he was going to touch you—your skin begged for his to slide stop it—but didn’t, full of frustration in the hold-back.  “I’m dating Marlene,” he said harshly.
“I know.”
“I’m dating Marlene.”  The repetition of the phrase was full of wonderment this time, as if he was in disbelief, or talking to himself.   “Fuck it if I haven’t thought about this a million times before, but it doesn’t matter how I feel about you.  I’m dating Marlene.”
“I think I love you,” you slurred out, reaching towards him again.  Being neglected, again, because he was walking away.
Though his actions were obvious he announced, “I need to go,”  as if he was reminding himself of how dangerous this situation was becoming, in the same way wildfires start from single sparks.  But you were still smiling, too drunk to realize the gravity of what you had just done but not drunk enough for Sirius’ words to have been forgotten.  That he had thought about you before in the same way you had been thinking about him since God knows when, in the context of lips against lips and first dates and holding him by those goddamn dog-tag necklaces and never letting go.  So although he was gone swiftly, with the slam of the door punctuating his ascent, you were still smiling, hoping as you fell into a deep sleep that you would remember the conversation when you woke the next morning.
And you did.  After an hour of lounging, moving your body side to side and letting the haze of hangover fade slowly, you sat up with a start that contrasted your previous movements starkly, with a loud scream of, “shit.”  The night came back in flashes first: the sound of your shoes dropping against the floor, the aftertaste of vodka cranberries, James’ lips sipping beer.  But, as your eyes blinked in recollection, those flickers of memories elongated into scenes: the vision of Marlene with Sirius’ tongue down her throat, the struggle it took to take the first steps off of that bar stool and, most begrudgingly, the conversation you had with Sirius when you were too drunk to lie about the things you never would have said while sober.  So now, with the nonsensical confidence of drunkenness gone from your body, you were left with the aftermath: crippling guilt and embarrassment.
What made you feel slightly relieved—able to find breath, at least—was the memory of Sirius’ responses to your wild claims, suggesting he might have revelled in what you had to say.  That, combined with the glass of water and pile of folded clothes he left on your nightstand, made you hopeful that he at least wouldn’t be angry with you when you inevitably had to face him for the first time that morning.
Once the glass was empty and your tight dress replaced with a hodgepodge of oversized clothing, you made your way to the kitchen, where you knew from experience Sirius would be sitting across from Marlene, talking over some open yet unread Muggle newspaper softly.  So the loudness of the voices was what struck you most potently, making your body lurch uncomfortably and your feet were suddenly stuck in one place.
“I just don’t understand how you could have ditched me for her,” Marlene spat.  Guilt hit your chest squarely, knees buckling at the rawness in her voice.
Sirius huffed exasperatedly, as if he had already answered this doubt, making you wonder how long they had been arguing for.  If, considering what Sirius’ comments last night lead you to believe, this was their first fight about you.  Especially when Sirius shouted back, “You know she was so drunk she couldn’t stand by herself!  So I’m sorry for helping out a friend.”
“What about James?  You could have had him bring her home.”
A scuff sounded from Sirius, before stating, “James was just barely behind her,” like it was something obvious.  Like it was something true; you knew from experience it wasn’t.
So, without a beat to pause, Marlene snarled, “That’s bullshit and you know it.”
“Really now?”  You could envision the Sirius’ brow cocked entirely, the high arch of it.
“Yes, because if James was that drunk, you would have brought them both here.”
It was a truth you hadn’t even realized, making you feel dizzy and oblivious at the obviousness of it.  But if that truth was Sirius being a good friend or picking you over Marlene, you couldn’t decide (your heart already chosen, however, since you loved Sirius like it was a necessity of life, even though it probably would be what took yours at the end of the day).
“So,” Marlene continued, but more slowly this time, as if she was scanning Sirius’ face intently for any sign of omission and momentarily forgot the next part of her sentence.  “Do you have feelings for Y/N?”
“Of course not.”
Beyond the words, it was a combination of two things that sucked your heart dry: the speed of the response and the firmness of his voice, as if he wasn’t lying.  But he had to be, you knew.  You knew it as surely as you knew how Sirius liked his coffee, the shape of his lips while smirking, the way he twisted his rings on his fingers when bored or nervous, because even over Marlene, Sirius would never lie to you.  And hadn’t he said just the night before, with shakiness and frustration, that he thought about being with you, too?  Suggested, with ambiguity and anger, that dating Marlene may not have ceased his breathlessness whenever you came into view?
So you did, emerging the hallway with steps that were pounding (but not nearly as ferociously as your heartbeat) and furious (but not nearly as much as you were).  While Sirius was in awe, Marlene’s pursed lips suggested she was not surprised to see you, as if you had interrupted many arguments of their past; or perhaps, because you were a topic of them.
But what you said caused her jaw to drop, even if just slightly.  “Were you lying then, Sirius?” you asked.  “Lying when you told me you thought about dating me before?  Lying when you suggested that you had feelings about us still, since you couldn’t voice them?”
Before Sirius could respond, Marlene stood in front of him, forcing you to look at her—you were always subconsciously glancing Sirius’ way—with tensed brows and fisted hands.  “What the fuck?  How much of that did you hear?” she scowled.
You met her look with your own glare.  “Enough.”
“Still, why are you here?”
“Because I live here!” you shouted.  “Sorry if I thought I wasn’t allowed in my own house.”
A smile didn’t slip into her features, or even a smirk.  She was only angry at the slyness of your comment: “You know what I mean, Y/N.  Why are you intruding on our argument?”
“Because it has to do with me.  If Sirius lied to me or not.  So I’d like to speak with him, if that’s alright.”  Before she responded you were moving, trying to get around her frame to look Sirius in the eyes, but Marlene had her hands on your arms before you could be successful, whipping you back into her sight squarely.  You looked back into her eyes; it seemed like someone had set them on fire they were so scorchingly hot.
“Stay the hell away from him, you two-faced boyfriend-fucker,” she seethed.
You struggled against her grip, finding words deep within your throat which begged for Sirius’ aid, but never letting them surface.  Instead, you matched Marlene’s aggression.  “Or what?” you teased.  “Are you gonna hit me, or something?”
“Yeah.  Right in the jaw.”  She was smiling and you gulped.
“Really?” you asked, this time in disbelief instead of cockiness, but Marlene must have missed the undertone of breathlessness in your voice, the slight quiver of it, because suddenly her right hand was moving off of your left arm, elbow bending back, almost like it was going to hit Sirius, hands fisted once more.  And you swore you felt the air getting sucked back by her grip, the vortex of it cold against your cheek, and she was going to hit you right beneath it, you were certain, so you squeezed your eyes shut, moving away, but not fast enough, you thought.  But maybe fast enough.  Because nothing happened.
With as much tenacity as restlessness could hold, you snapped your eyes open, finding that Sirius had somehow wedged half of himself between the two of you without you noticing at all.  His hand was open flat against Marlene’s balled up one and it took you little time to notice he had protected you and even less for your heart to flutter at the realization.
You couldn’t see Sirius’ face at the moment, as he looked at a guilty yet still disgruntled Marlene. But were relieved, since, if his tone of voice was anything to come by, his features were so cold it could of chilled you to the bone.  “Marlene,” he said, the iciness of it terrifying and Marlene winced.  “You need to leave.  Now.”
Half-expecting her to stay, stand her ground, at least throw one last backhanded comment your way, you were more than surprised at Marlene’s willingness to listen.  Or, maybe, she had just ruined the best love she ever had the privilege of fighting for, and was to downtrodden to do anything other than obliged to Sirius’ orders.  Too broken to try and come up with anything that would take you down to her level.  The mere thought made you want to apologize to her, but you realized that no matter how many sorry’s you repeated, Sirius had taken your side, so each of them would sound as artificial and boastful as the last.
She left silently and swiftly.  As if she was never there, but the ghost of her lingered in the words you spoke after turning to Sirius once the door was firmly closed.  He was further away now, a few feet that felt like an ocean.  “I broke her heart,” you whispered, looking down at his hands too afraid to face him in earnest.  And it was so quiet, just like always when it was just you and Sirius and the morning light casting a shadow of a tragic love story through kitchen window blinds.
“We both did,” he replied.  “Well, really, I didn't.  But I would have, somewhere along the line.”  After a pause Sirius exhaled, full of frustration, and you watched as his hands flew up to his hair.  Even though you still lacked the courage to look up at his face and verify, you knew where those ringed fingers were, how they tugged at his hair the same way they tugged at your heartstrings.
You shifted uncomfortably, as if you didn’t know how to exist without looking at Sirius; you didn’t, to be honest.  “I’m sorry.  That… that should have waited,” you admitted.
“Fuck.  Yeah, it really should have.  Shit.  I just don’t know what to do next.”  His body was shaking in restless indecision, extenuating his words.  His words, so quiet and calm for the tension that it was worse to listen to them over the fiery shouts of an argument.  They left you positively shuddering.
Maybe it was because you were so cold and hoped the truth would make Sirius so happy he’d touch you, warming whatever skin he chose to make contact with; or, you knew Sirius would coax it out of you in some other way; or, you were just too impatient to wait any longer.
Or because Sirius didn’t know what to do next.  But you did.
Without reluctance, you opened your mouth and said, “Everything I said last night was true, Sirius.  I’ve been in love with you for months.”  You weren’t quite sure what you were expecting his response to be, but the long silence that followed, uneasy and unnecessary, shocked you into speaking again.  “Sirius?”
“Are you going to look at me while talking to me?” he asked so aggressively, you almost didn’t lift your head up, just to spite him.  But you did and his face was the mixture of frustration and flabbergasted you suspected to meet, when you finally found the courage to (or, were coerced into looking).
“Sorry, but you’re absolutely terrifying when you’re angry.”  You almost smiled, but Sirius didn’t.
One of his hands was in his hair while the other was pressed up against the nape of his neck, where the back of his dog-tag necklaces sat, so they rustled as he rubbed the patch of skin there.  “Why didn’t you tell me you love me?”
At the ignorant innocence of the question, paired with his wide eyes of wonderment, you scoffed.  “Are you really asking me that?”  Other than his nodding head, the rest of his body remained still.  “Sirius, you were dating someone else!  Why the Hell would I just offer you my feelings to get them shot down?  I’m not stupid.”
“But I loved you!”
You exhaled slowly and roughly.  “Once again, Sirius, you were dating someone else.  Of course I hoped you liked me all that time, but you’re not supposed to have feelings for someone when you’re in a relationship with someone else.”
“I guess so,” he huffed.  Now Sirius was the one looking down, avoiding your eyes.  “Sorry.  Marlene always said I was so obvious about it.  I guess I thought you knew.”
“No.”  Your breathing was rapid, non existent yet constantly falling short.  But it's unevenness, paired with the unsettled rhythm of Sirius’, was all the sound in the world right then—all in being alone with Sirius, the noiselessness never faded—so you held on to it almost as feverently as you would hold onto him if he let you.  Would he ever let you?  Would he ever let go of whatever words and thoughts restrained him, take you by the wrists and kiss you deeply?
But then he was sharing them.  “Do you think I am a horrible person?” he asked.  “I mean, I lead Marlene on all this time, even though I knew I loved you more.  I guess I was just hoping one day, you’d give me some reason to really have to get over you.  And then I could have loved her like I wanted to.  How she deserved.”
“I think,” you began, but it got cut off by Sirius’ looking up and in your eyes once more, his wide and so unceasingly vulnerable your breath was lost for a moment.  “I think you could have handled it better.  Maybe it was unfair but at least you were trying for something good.  At least you recognized that she deserved more than you could give.”
“But I kept dating her anyways.  And now, I broke her heart—”
“I broke it,” you corrected, hating how his eyes were still wandering.  “You never asked me to come into the kitchen and make some big scene.”
“Well I gave it the thing it broke over.”
“Then we broke it together, alright?”  For a minute, you paused, waiting for a sign of agreement which was never given.  “Alright?”  He was still silent, his only movement the languid rise and fall of his chest.  “Sirius?  Sirius?”  Nothing.  “Sirius, look at me.  Please.”
Your request to meet your eyes was different than his to meet yours, as was the end result: you flickered your eyes up, but his crawled, slowly and assuredly, to yours.  They were heavy and looked as though they were on the verge of crying, making you wonder if he was.
“I really do love you,” he whispered suddenly.  “And I don’t want you to think I’m evil.  I just really didn’t think you’d ever love me back.  Marlene is brilliant, and I did like her, but I just never had that feeling.  Like, when I look at you and it’s like, I don’t know, it’s like—”
“Like everything else fades to the background?” you offered, nothing, yet again, how quiet everything was.  Stunningly silent.  And Sirius was all head-thrown-back laughter and clinks of silver buckles and loud talking, yet, somehow, everything was quiet.
He smiled brighter than the sunlight which poured into your kitchen floor.  “Exactly.”
“I don’t think you’re evil,” you said.  “I think you just made a mistake.  And I know I made one today, too.  One I’m not sure if I’ll ever stop feeling badly about.”
And then Sirius was laughing, as if his smile was something old and dated by now (even if he had been smiling for hours, it was never something old and dated to you), laughing in full, so your lips broke into a smile of their own. “We’re just absolutely hopeless, aren’t we?” he snickered, once calmed down.  “Two complete messes.”
“I guess we just match,” you grinned.  You weren’t completely sure if you’d ever stop smiling again, wishing you could feel worse about Marlene, but she was part of the fade now.  The fade that Sirius put over everything.
And you thought that silent blur couldn’t get any stronger—after months of loving him from afar, it had developed to impossible lengths—but then Sirius stepped in close, lips still turned upwards, eyes still looking downwards.  Looking at you, in your eyes, at your lips.  Suddenly, he gulped.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked, and it was so gloriously simple, honest, perfect both due to you wanting to hear it and the breathlessness with which it was delivered, you almost kissed him first since your limbs gave out slightly, causing you to stumble forwards unceremoniously.
“Yes,” you whispered in an understatement.  And you almost corrected it, added on to try and show your bubbling enthusiasm, but then his lips were on yours and you discovered that though you were used to the fade, how it made everything but Sirius exist, kissing Sirius Black stole your thoughts themselves, your ability to think.  All you could do was move your mouth against his and fall.  Into him.  Into the fade.  Into the feeling.
So that’s all you did.  Clutching onto those godforsaken dog-tag necklaces, you kissed him until your lips were purple and sore and forgot how to do everything except moan into his mouth.

PEACE KILLS: CHAPTER 1
Story Description:
It's been decades since World War 3, and the world still hasn't gotten back to what it once was. Few technologies were able to be salvaged. At least, that's what Silven Owaris has been told. An organization called Peiwornt gathered the American people in a huge bunker before the nuclear missiles struck, and the former Americans found a way to survive an entire generation, just long enough for the overworld to be habitable. A city was built in a large expanse of fertile land, and Peiwornt created a government to get civilization back on track. The land has become a place of peace... That's what king Arwin says any way.
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: none
Part: 2 of ?
Work:
The yellowed paper crinkled in my grasp. The word 'WANTED' was written in large, threatening, black text. Underneath was a drawing of me. My bright blue hair and violet eyes seemed to pop out of the paper. Other than the bright colors of my hair and eyes, my face was plain. No freckles or distinctive marks other than a faint scar on my cheek.
Underneath the picture was slightly smaller text, saying 'May be dangerous, if seen contact closest guard'. I stuffed the paper into a pocket of the cloth bag I had slinged across my shoulder, and turned away from the wanted board. I pushed my sunglasses up my nose, and started walking towards the small market stall I tried to make a trip to daily.
"What have you got today, Erek?" I asked the man at the stall.
"Bread and produce. Not much meat unfortunately."
"Damn... Can I get a loaf of bread, a couple beets, and a potato then?"
"Of course."
"Great."
"It's on the house today, kid. You look hungry."
"Thank you."
He put the stuff I'd bought in my bag, and I turned away to return home. He was right, I could feel the growls coming from my stomach. It was a long walk to the wall between where I was, the outer-works, and the inner-works where my home was. Climbing up a tree that reached the top of the 20 feet high wall, I looked back to the streets filled with merchant stalls, shops, and small houses I'd left. My chest ached with the reminder that I didn't have a small cozy house to go home to, or a family.
I jumped over to the wall, and walked along it to an abandoned church. When I first found it, it was just as dusty and lifeless. Turns out people didn't really want to follow a god that allowed a nuclear apocalypse. I hopped over to the edge of the roof, using the slanted cross that stood there to balance myself. My hands itched from the rusted metal of the cross, and I started to carefully walk towards a balcony I could climb down onto. Entering through a glass door there, I raised my arms and stretched as I strolled towards the small table in the back of the room. A reflective piece of glass was propped up there.
The makeshift mirror revealed that bright blue was starting to show through the purplish hair dye I'd made out of beet juice. I glanced at the beets I'd bought, glad I'd be able to make more. Going through a door, I entered a large room with something resembling a kitchen/dining area. A couple of tables with no chairs sat in the center room, and a few counters and a gas stove that barely worked sat against the wall.
I set the bag on one of the counters and pulled out a potato. I set it on a small pan and grabbed some small twigs and paper scraps I kept close by, putting them in one of the stove's burners. I used a match to start a small fire, and turned the gas on. A bit would puff out every minute or so, keeping the fire lit and hot. I placed the pan on the burner. After the potato cooked and cooled, I set it on a plate with a hunk of bread and returned to the room I'd just been in. Sitting down on a cotton filled mattress on the floor, I ate. I set the remaining crumbs in a makeshift trap I had on the floor, and laid down on the mattress, exhausted.

I woke up to birds singing. The sun had just pushed its way a bit over the horizon. The sky was a pale orange near the sun, and a deep, dark purple above. Stars still lightly twinkled, barely visible but still there.
I sat up, a twinge of pain going through my back. That's what I got for climbing a tree every day.
With a yawn, I stood and moved towards my mirror. The beet juice dye had worn away more, but I had one more bottle that I applied. I wiped my hands on a piece of cloth, grabbed my knife from the table, and went to the kitchen to stick the beets in a cupboard. I left the bread in the bag and put in the knife, and went to the other room on this floor. It was a small library, filled with history books and books I'd stolen from outer-works libraries. I used the holy books that were in it as kindling long ago.
I grabbed a few historical and educational books from the shelves and stuffed them in the bag. I slung it over my shoulder and put on my sunglasses, then left the building. Heading for the back, I spotted and grabbed the ladder leaning against the church. I carried it towards the wall and climbed up, grabbing the edge and pulling myself up to the top of the wall. I looked back over the inner-works. It was mostly big houses occupied by nobles, but at the center was a castle, barracks, and an armory. 4 years ago, I used to call those barracks home. But I wasn't 16 years old anymore, and I wasn't a guard either. Turning away from my old home, I made my climb down the tree, and took a break sitting on a large root.
The usually crowded streets of the outer-works only held a few people. Nobody wanted to be up at this hour. I could relax a bit while I strolled through the streets, eating the bread, and heading towards a small gate in the outer wall. There was only one guard there, who was always too drunk or too asleep to recognize me. Today, he was asleep. I crawled under the half-closed gate, and resumed my journey. After enough walking to make my feet feel like they'd been sucker-punched, I finally reached my destination, one of the farming villages dotted around the farmlands surrounding the city.
I spotted the person I was looking for, Jayce, on his porch. He was a farmer, and a trader of goods and information. I made the journey to him once a week for money and information about what was going on in the castle. He was friends with a lot of people who knew important people.
"Where's my books?" He asked.
"Not even gonna say hi?"
"Fine, hi. If you want your share of the money and your info I need the books."
I pulled the books out of my bag and handed them over. He gave me some money and sat down on a chair, gesturing for me to sit down in the other. I sat down, relief flooding me now that I could finally rest. I looked up at the sky, which was now a light blue.
"If my intel is right, Anarila is gonna be queen soon. Her daddy's getting ready to step down, supposedly."
I only grunted in response, still processing it. I hadn't seen her in so long, she might just hate me. My chest felt heavy at the thought of attempting to return to her side, and I focused on keeping my breaths steady. Even though it was a big risk, I wanted to be with her again. I wanted to be home.
"Hey, you alright there?" Jayce asked.
"Yeah. Just thinking."
"You're wondering if you should try and get your guard job back, huh?"
"It wasn't just a job. Protecting her was what I wanted to do with my life."
"What, did you have a crush on her?"
"It was a long time ago. I just..."
"Don't want to be alone anymore?"
"Yeah."
We sat in a comfortable silence, waiting for someone to visit the stand set up in his yard.  When they did, he went to the stand and negotiated with them. I looked up at the sky and closed my eyes, just basking in the sun's warm light. The feeling of being cocooned in a blanket swept over me. Sleep crept over me and took hold.
●●●●●●●●●●●●●
When I woke up, the sun was high in the sky, slightly to the west. Jayce had pulled a chair to his stand. The books were gone. He was smiling, probably because those books cost a pretty penny. When he saw I was awake, he walked over to me.
"Since all the books sold today, you can have another share of money right now," he said, dropping the money in my bag. "And you can have some cheese and bread before you go," he handed me the food.
I ate while he sat on the porch step, humming a tune I barely recognized. "I've got to go. Thanks," I said, getting up to leave.
He just nodded and returned to his chair. I started my trek back to the outer-works. I was about to pass back under the gate when I heard a noise behind me. I turned towards it, only to hear the twang of a crossbow being fired, and felt a dart hit my neck. In seconds the world was going blurry and my heart pumped faster, confusion swarming in my mind. I collapsed.

BATIM SOL AU- In Charge
Linda was putting on her earrings, as she was getting ready for a party. One of their close friends, the Evan’s came into town and invited them to a get together. It’s been years since the Stein’s last saw them, and it was nice for them to come over.
Henry was putting on his tux as he saw the three new additions to his family. Allison, Tom and evil Alice who they named Malice. “Alright you three. Linda and I are going out for the night, so could you keep an eye on Bendy and the others for tonight?” He asked.
Tom and Malice looked up at Henry and back at each other. “You expect us to keep an eye on the ink demon and his friends?” Malice asked.
Henry nodded. “Yep. Linda and I are gone and someone needs to keep an eye on Bendy, Boris and Alice. What better then you three helping to take care of them.” He explained.
“No thank you Henry. I’ve been chased by the Ink Demon for so long, and even though he’s not scary he can still do some mischievous things.” Malice explained. She then had a thought of Bendy laughing menacingly ting her, Tom and Allison up to some fireworks.
Allison chuckled and rubbed Malice’s back. “Oh relax. Bendy would never do anything like that.” She replied giving comfort for the formerly evil Alice. She then glanced at Henry and whispered, “Would he?”
It was Henry’s turn to chuckle. “He wouldn’t. Because if he did, he would be grounded for a month with no pizza!” He yelled upstairs.
“Aww what!” Bendy yelled in the distance. Henry smiled catching Bendy in the act of his plan against his babysitters. Tom and Malice gave a glance knowing one of Bendy’s plans was foiled, but what else does this little devil darling had in store.
Tom shook his head. While he didn’t speak, Malice knew Tom didn’t trust the little devil one bit. Allison turned and held Tom’s mechanical hand. “I know you don’t trust him, but remember we have Alice and Boris to keep us on our feet.” Tom nodded; at least Boris and Alice are well mannered.
Linda was finally ready dressed up in her dark blue dress. “Ready to go Henry?” Linda asked.
Henry smiled looking how pretty his wife looked. Her hair tied into a bun, the dark blue dress looking pretty like the night sky, and her silver high-heeled shoes glistening like the stars. The man blushed seeing how beautiful his wife looked tonight.
Allison giggled seeing Henry gush over his wife.
“Henry? Henry?” Linda asked.
Henry snapped out of it and looked at his wife. “Y-Yes?” Henry then remembered what Linda asked him, “Oh yes! I am.” He looked at Allison. “Allison your in charge. Call me incase anything happens.” He said handing Allison a paper with some phone numbers.
Allison smiled; she could handle this I mean what could go wrong with taking care of three toons. Malice stared in shock at the other angel and Henry. “I’m like older then these two! How is she in charge?!”
“Because she’s responsible and would not turn Bendy, Boris and Alice into slaves.” Henry replied. Allison chuckled and Tom smiled knowing Malice got owned.
Linda grabbed Henry’s hand, “come on Mr. Stein we have a fun night with friends!” She grabbed Henry and pulled him outside to headed to the car and drove off for the night.
The trio looked out the window. Allison stood up and spoke up, “Alright! I’m in charge so first things first I’ll be checking up on the toons.” Allison walked upstairs to check up on the toons. Tom’s ears went down as he gave a growl feeling something is wrong.
Tom followed Allison leaving Malice alone on the couch. Once they we’re gone Malice changed the channel to a drama movie.
Allison opened the door, surprisingly the toons we’re just relaxing. Bendy was playing with a paddleball, Alice was reading a book with her pet kitten Sugar next to her, and Boris was playing a crossword puzzle.
Tom took a peek of the room as well, and felt suspicious that the toons we’re just acting normal then usual.
“See Tom, everything is fine.” Allison reassured. She closed the door and pulled Tom away headed back downstairs. Once they came down, Malice quickly changed the channel back and smiled at the two toons. They sat back down again and relaxed the rest of the night. “See it’s nice and easy.”
That’s what Allison thought. Once she left, Bendy went under his bed and took out his secret stash of cheese puffs gummy worms and orange soda. “Glad their gone.” He sighed in relief.
Alice looked up from her book as Bendy threw her a can of soda so she can have a sip. Carefully she opened it so none of the fizzy substance sprayed on her. “I can’t believe you we’re able to sneak all the snacks before mom and dad left.” Alice exclaimed.
Bendy chuckled, “well we’re toons, and I was able to do it this when Henry and Linda we’re getting ready. Plus Tom and the others are stuck watching TV.” He explained. The demon chugged on the soda before opening the bag of cheese puffs before eating one. “So they’ll be distracted on that till Henry and Linda comes home.”
Alice rolled her eyes. “If you say so.”
An hour has passed and this time Tom decided to check up on the toons it’s been quiet with no mayhem. The wolf growled sensing something is wrong and went up to check at what the toons we’re up too. Allison stopped him holding onto his paws.
“Tom, relax their fine.” Allison reassured. Tom removed Allison’s hand off his arm and started to march upstairs. “Tom.” Allison sighed.
Malice groaned rolling her eyes. “Would you like it if I checked up on them?” She asked.
Tom and Allison looked at each other. There was silence between the three till Allison snickered. Then her snickers turned to chuckles. Tom just growled at the evil angel. He knew this angel was nothing but trouble, and knew the toons would be in danger if she were lurking around their room.
Malice walked upstairs and found the toons room. She slowly opened the door and saw the toons relaxing eating food. She opened it slowly and walked in. Upon her entrance, Boris looked up from his crossword puzzle, his ears dropped down seeing the evil Alice.
Bendy and Alice looked at Boris then at each other. Boris whimpered looking up and pointing up. Alice and Bendy looked up to see Malice over them looking at them with a glare.
“Oh hi Malice!” Bendy nervously chuckled.
“Oh hello Bendy, what are you three doing tonight?” Malice asked.
“Just eating snacks, doing our own thing.” Bendy replied.
“That’s it?”
Bendy nodded. Malice shrugged, there was nothing to worry about. Heck nothing for Henry to get them in trouble. Malice was about to walk out of the room, but before she left she had her hand out asking for some snacks. Bendy and Alice handed Malice some gummy worms and cheese puffs before she left the room and back downstairs.
Allison and Tom turned and saw Malice coming downstairs eating the snacks Bendy and Alice gave her. Tom was confused seeing what Malice was eating.
“Where did you get that?” Allison asked.
Malice stopped chewing and looked at her hand seeing the gummy worms and a cheese puff still in her hand. “Oh. Bendy gave this to me. He has some secret stash of junk food.” She replied giving a laugh.
Allison and Tom looked at each other. Tom snapped his fingers using his metal hand knowing something was up.
At the party over at the Evan’s house Henry and Linda were having a wonderful conversation with their friends. They talked about their lives so far since the last time they met, which was too awkward for the Stein’s to explain. Because how to explain to party guest your adopted toons, an evil angel out of your old co-worker, and two other toons into your home.
They party was loud that no one heard the phone ring. The phone rang three times before it went to a dial tone. Allison sighed as she hanged up the phone.
“Any luck?” Malice asked. Allison shook her head. “Well that’s just great! Henry’s off having a good time when we’re having a crisis over what the toons are eating is safe?” She yelled.
Allison put her hands on Malice’s shoulder. “Now, now. Let’s calm down. Look their fine. Not making a mess of anything. Look let’s sit down watch TV and relax.” Allison explained hoping to address the situation calmly.
Malice took a deep breath, which turned to a disappointed sigh. That was something for Allison. “Good.” Allison sighed. Allison and Malice sat down on the couch and continued watching their show.
Tom wasn’t sure and kept looking up the stairs. With a sigh he sat down next to Alison and snuggled up to her. The good angel smiled and hugged the wolf back.
By 10:30 PM Henry and Linda we’re finally home having a fun time over at the Evan’s house. The couple smiled see the three getting along and sleeping on the couch. Henry rubbed Tom’s shoulder waking the wolf up. “Hey guys.”
Allison and Malice stirred in their sleep, slowly waking up from their sleep.
“How was taking care of the toons?” Linda asked.
Allison smiled with a nod, “they we’re well. Just ate snacks all the time.” She explained.
Henry and Linda’s eyes widen. They we’re frozen looking at one another. “What kind of food we’re they eating?”
Malice shrugged, “gummy candies and a cheese chips.” She answered. “Why?”
Henry groaned. “Because toons aren’t supposed to eat junk food!” Henry yelled.
“Wait what does happen when they consume junk food?” Allison asked.
CRASH
BANG
CAT SCRECH
The five members heard those loud noises coming from the toons room. Quickly they ran up to see the toons jumping up and down their beds, making a mess of everything. Poor little Sugar ran out of the room and ran into Henry’s arms.
Henry and Linda narrowed their eyes to the two angels and wolf. Allison and Malice nervously chuckled as Tom shook his head knowing this was going to happen.

The Emerald Seer
Chapter One
Kaelyn woke to an empty bed, cool with morning dew. She rolled over, spraying a puff of sawdust from her mattress. Water flicked off her nose and soaked her blanket. It bled through cracks in her walls from the drip of trees above. A small price to pay for each day to begin with birdsong. Amaris was nowhere to be found. She couldn’t sleep like Kaelyn could, even wet and cold. An arrow thudded into a strawman outside. She bolted up, remembering this was her first Harvest Feast since turning sixteen. It was the last day of summer, and knights would arrive soon to pass judgment.
When her feet touched the dirt floor, she shivered. Something furry passed over her ankles. Straining her eyes, she saw Whiskerwinks dart back into the pantry. This time she rode five miles to Cyan Lake with the mouse, borrowing a horse from Remy’s stable. Leaving him in the forest, she said a solemn goodbye. Yet here he was, nibbling on bread and cheese once more. Kaelyn crossed their one room house to the pantry. Giving it a good kick, she hoped he’d come out easy. When he did not, she sighed and stepped outside.
Amaris brought an arrow to her ear. Both girls had green eyes, but little more in common. Kaelyn’s hair was silver and often tangled where her sister’s locked in red braids. Ami’s never got in the way when she swung an axe or shot a bow. Kaelyn’s was often caked in mud. Releasing the string, Ami’s arrow pierced the strawman’s heart. She knocked another arrow to her longbow, the weapon as tall as she was. Taking aim, lines in her muscles showed. Kaelyn had never seen a woman so strong. Her second arrow slid into straw beside the first.
“Enjoying the show?” Amaris gave her a wry look.
“I love to watch you shoot,” Kaelyn approached her sister.
“Too close,” Amaris brushed her away and took aim again.
“Did I break your concentration? In battle you won’t be so lucky.” Then Amaris turned, aiming the bow at Kaelyn’s feet. The girl jumped away. “Ami!”
“Want to take some shots? It’s time you hit the mark. Today could be your lucky day.”
“You know I can’t even pull the string...”
“I won’t always be here, Kae. When the knights come, what will you do?”
“They’ll not take me,” Kaelyn gave Amaris a long look. “I wouldn’t last a day in the mines. But you’d make them a fortune... I can see why you practice.”
“They won’t need to take me.”
“How come?”
“They just won’t, that’s why,” Amaris snapped. “Now, your garden looks like a weed bed. At this rate you’ll be selling dandelions this season.”
“Nothing wrong with that.”
Kaelyn went about her chores. She plucked weeds from her flower and vegetable beds, removed deadheads, and checked for mold. Then she brought a bucket to the town well. Remy’s villagers came for water to wash and cook for the feast. Listening to some women, she heard Lord Ryndale hired a new knight named Godfrey. He was said to be crueler than most and drank Karnath dry in one night. Hearing this, the local tavern owner Gascoyne abruptly left line. Waddling back to the Suckling Pig, he rolled his casks safely into the cellar.
It took Kaelyn an hour to fill her bucket, then she barely got back to the house without spilling half. Amaris was still shooting strawmen.
“Do you expect an army to come up out of the hills?” Kaelyn wondered.
“No, but perhaps some knights, a few rebels or if I’m lucky… Garzians.”
“You’ll take ‘em all on yourself, eh?”
“They’re just men, and they can be killed.”
“Can’t believe you’re working today of all days. You know the knights could kill you for dodging judgement.”
“Someone’s got to.”
“Well, don’t be late for the shift that kills you,” Kaelyn sucked air between her teeth, face going scarlet. She stalked away, grabbing a copy of Wilderwood Beasts and Legends on her way out the front door.
“Mornin’, Kae,” called Luc. The old man with blue eyes and skin like worn leather, stacked wood outside her door. Her house stood in the shadow of Edgewood Lumbermill. Luc helped them build their house, with wood gathered by Amaris and the other foresters. When Amaris turned sixteen, she asked to sign up for the war. She planned on marching west to kill the Bandit King. Hearing this, Luc adopted both sisters the same day. They were only with him a year, as Amaris was desperate to live under her own roof. Kaelyn could’ve stayed longer.
“Morning, Luc,” she waved. “Wonderful day for Harvest Feast, isn’t it?”
“Oh, it’ll be a beaut’,” he nodded and grinned, going back to his stacking.
Kaelyn turned north, taking the main cart road. It wound for half a mile before leading to a meadow of bloodred poppies. As sun smiled down, she basked in Daphne’s grace. Finding her way to the river that curled around the Fairy Tree, she reclined on its bank. Warm light washed over, as fish looked up, bubbles rising to the surface. A breeze passed through the old oak, and sometimes it whispered to her. Soft, kind words eased her mind. It was a needed escape from villagers who called her “ragamuffin” and “witch” for her silver hair. It made her look old, and sometimes she felt it.
When she looked at the Fairy Tree, she thought of the Wilderwood. Its ancient groves grew tall as the sky. The Fairy Tree was much younger, but Luc told her it grew from a Wilderwood seed blown east on the wind. This made it a holy relic, and none would cut it down. Its branches spread like powerful arms to either side. Sometimes Kaelyn pressed her nose against its bark, hoping it would give her a hug. Ami had not given her one in so long. The trees, and the river, and the fish never looked at her with scorn. It was here her thoughts could wander in peace. When she cracked open her book, she found herself in the Wilderwood.
Kaelyn returned home at midday to break her fast. With a yelp, she remembered Harvest Feast was in full swing. In her excitement to leave the house, she donned a crown of daylilies but forgot to eat anything. Racing to Remy Square, a basket swung from her fingers, filled with blossoms and apples. Her pace slowed as people blocked her path. They wore their Daphne’s Day best: brightly colored tunics and dresses, hair braided or slicked with grease. Seeing Kaelyn, covered head to toe in mud, they let her pass. Slipping through, she avoided their glares, approaching the main event.
Arriving in Remy Square, Kaelyn delighted in the smells and sights of harvest’s bounty. The aroma watered her mouth and rumbled her stomach. Noise and light warmed the Suckling Pig. Gascoyne roasting a boar on the common, its flesh sizzling over hungry flames. Every man, woman, and child lined up for his famous pork, two if patience held. Children watched him cut, moving dutifully forward in line. Gascoyne handed one boy a wine-braised rib, his eyes turning big as apples. He tousled the boy’s hair, smearing it with grease, and called, “Next ‘un up!”
Nearly every villager of Remy filled the square, sauce spackling their faces. They drank ale, mulled wine, and mead, ate fresh bread with black jellies and buttery cheeses. Mashed turnips, glazed carrots, and buttered onions slipped from plates into mouths. Kaelyn offered flowers and fruit to those who had no meat and looked as poor as she. Most were too proud to accept charity, least of all from her. They slapped her offerings away. Most often her hands and hair were dirty, and today was no exception.
A mother steered her children away. “That girl’s mad,” she said, “Sleeps too much in the woods. Fairies addled her brain. Stay away now.”
Moving on, she found a hungry-looking child who might be more receptive. She offered her an apple and the girl took it, but her father’s face soured. “Oi, that’s Luc’s waif, ain’t it? Always said they live too close to th’ woods. That’s where demons’ll get ye. Drop the apple, lass. Leave it fer the worms.”
The girl dropped the apple and Kaelyn picked it back up. As they left, a dull ache throbbed in her head. It wasn’t just hunger. She wished she could tell these people they were wrong. Her brains weren’t addled, and she had no demons. Nowhere was the goddess closer than in the peaceful woods. So many forgot her way, claiming the gods turned their backs on the world. They’d never listen. None thought it wise for the sisters to live by themselves. Most were jealous they’d been taken in by Luc, the richest man in town.
Hands clapped, lutes strummed and proud songs of Larasu rose on their lips. She tapped her foot to the music and began to dance. As she moved, she caught the eyes of Laran, who also kept his distance. Wine and ale flowed like rivers, and the day passed in a haze. Villagers chose to numb their fears by singing songs of the rangers. Misha the Mouse, Sir Cadmus Featherstroke, Sheon the Silver Lady, Grian the Giantslayer, and Bloodless Barric, the Lion of Larasu. Most were still alive, yet many had begun to despise the rangers. Still, the songs were sung, and though few sought to join their ranks, many praised their deeds.
Amaris loved these songs, and never had she missed a feast day. All year the sisters looked forward to Gascoyne’s pork, Olson’s White Delcins, and the songs of Harvest Feast. More than enjoyment, Kaelyn wanted her sister here for what was to come. Soon knights would arrive for judgement. Any who failed to appear in Remy Square could be punished with death. Kaelyn would stand for judgement as she turned sixteen. It brought another jab to her belly, and she looked at the line for boar.
Last year they took children to work the Karnath Mines. Small bodies fit into tunnels and little fingers could repair tools. Few lived to twenty anyways. Their parents were paid, and the children got food and lodging for winter. Even if they came back whole, they were never the same. Their hands were claws, eyes creased, and backs bent. Light faded from eyes, and skin turned ashen gray. Just from looking, you could tell if someone had been taken, or Daphne forbid, taken more than once.
Kaelyn noticed the six robed men who inspected Remy’s three carts of grain. Stable boys hitched the collectors’ carts to horses. Each year ‘standard cartful’ seemed to grow a little larger. Going easy on them this year, the collectors climbed aboard their carts. They rolled from Remy Square, heading west back to Raven’s Hill, leaving a trail of grain. Any who went to gather the grain were bludgeoned by Remy’s bounders. Each winter a child died of hunger, and Kaelyn gave their family some flowers. These were rarely rejected.
“Line up!” bellowed Chief Olson, slamming a club on his shield. He was in a poor temper, as he usually was. Wearing leather armor, and a bronze badge of office, he and his men enforced Ryndale’s laws whenever possible. This was their proudest event of the year. With a twinkle in his blue eyes, he bellowed, “Judgement time.”
The crowd turned quiet, songs trailed off, and Gascoyne doused his cookfire. “Welp, fun’s over,” he announced. “Join me at the Pig if ye’ve seen one too many o’ these traditions.” Lumping the half-eaten boar over his shoulder, he carried it away. Most of the villagers over thirty years shuffled after him. They were exempt from being taken and refused to watch their children’s judgement.
Bounders slammed clubs on shields, barking at Remy’s younger villagers to form a line. A couple bounders were Kaelyn’s age, exempt from judgement due to their service. Under the hail of shouts, Remy’s men and women, boys and girls, age sixteen to thirty moved forward. Kaelyn joined them, pulling hair over her eyes, and smearing mud on her smock. She had no finer clothes, nor did she want to look pretty this day.
A thunder of hooves filled their ears. In years’ past, it gave Kaelyn chills. Now, it made her stomach turn in a knot. Three men in scalemail armor appeared on the cart road. A large man with a yellow mustache led the way. Dismounting before Saint Remy’s statue, a boy brought them ale. Under his helm, the mustache did little to cover pockmarks and scars that riddled his face. He gulped from a jug and dropped it to crack on the ground. The boy knelt to pick up the pieces. Heat welled in Kaelyn’s chest, despising this man already.
“I present you with Sir Godfrey,” said the bounder. “A knight from Annandale, newly entered into our lord’s service. He’s been honored with the passing of judgment this year.”
Godfrey growled, spittle flying from his cheeks as he advanced on Kaelyn and the others. Ripping off gloves, he revealed hands as rough as boulders. His mustache must have itched because it bristled as he looked them over. Kaelyn stifled a giggle, trying to ease her fear. When his roving eyes looked for her laugh, she was too short to be seen.
“First order of business: Lord Ryndale needs soldiers to keep the rebels at bay. Men, step forward,” his voice scraped like hooks on gravel. They advanced, some flexing or making fists. Godfrey walked the line, observing them in turn. “I see none. You’d not make it to sixteen in Annandale.” The men frowned, looking to each other and the ground. “You’re free to go. Blessed by your meekness. But if I see one of you at the Pig, you’d better buy me a drink.” A few men nodded and saluted. “Get out of my sight.” Most walked home or found spots to watch the finale, while a few marched to the Suckling Pig.
Godfrey paced before the women and girls now. They stood straight and tall, forgetting to breathe. Kaelyn slouched, breath catching in her throat. She was Remy’s youngest prospect, and under the dirt her face was smooth, free of blemishes. In childhood she rarely suffered flux, sweats, or pox. Most orphans were not so fortunate, and their faces bore the scars. Smearing dirt from her hair onto her face, she looked to the knight.
“Not sure how you put up with those men,” Godfrey chuckled, shaking his head. “Now ladies, I see some of you in gold or silver, trying to look your prettiest. If you’re wearing fine metals or stones leave them at the foot of Saint Remy. Then you may go.” To Kaelyn’s surprise, a handful of women came forward. She never knew such riches existed in Remy. Not that she owned any that may have helped her.
“Now,” his tone brightened. “I’ve an exciting announcement. Lord Ryndale seeks a new handmaid. All girls older than twenty may be dismissed.”
This left six girls and Kaelyn was one of them. Four of them were from good families. They trembled, tears filling their eyes. Next to her was a fellow orphan, Kendra. Raven hair fell to her shoulders and she wore a deerskin jacket and breeches. A dagger rested on each hip. Last time Kaelyn saw her, she’d been sixteen, of an age to leave the orphanage. Departing Remy, she went out into the wilderness and no one knew where she’d been the past four years. Now she returned on judgement day.
Though Kaelyn was called strange by many in town, Kendra was considered far stranger. Like Kaelyn, she suffered little in childhood. Her skin was pale as snow, from years in the orphanage library. While Kaelyn read much, she did so under the sun, listening to birds and squirrels. Kendra took to dark, cramped places, ones filled with spiders. She slept some nights in the orphanage attic, where she emerged covered in cobwebs, wasps buzzing in her hair. Not once was she caught for stealing books, though Kaelyn knew she had them. Abbot Arden deemed her the perfect disciple of Daphne and lamented her leaving town.
Godfrey marched down the row of girls. With each step, blood beat in Kaelyn’s ears. Finally, he came to stand before her and Kendra. Looking both over, he stroked his mustache.
“You,” Godfrey said, pointing at Kendra, “you’ll join me at the Pig. We’ve much to discuss.”
Kaelyn let out a breath she’d been holding for weeks. In the corner of her eye, she swore Kendra smiled. As villagers resumed festivities, she sprinted from Remy Square.

9/19/20
i don’t like to write about the day. i don’t like to have to acknowledge each day as it passes. but days like today, simultaneously terrible and wonderful, i feel a responsibility not to forget.
i woke up late and watched the leaves of my touch sensitive plant fold and unfold with the little gusts of wind blowing through my cracked window. i got up slowly, probably ineffectively slowly. allie texted me to come over for lunch, so i got dressed. we had soy chicken sandwiches with spicy mayo.
i couldn’t get back into the alpha delt parking lot because of construction. i drove to usdan and got tested. miles, luka, and blythe met me next to the testing tent. we climbed into heather, feeling comfortingly comfortable with each other. luka and miles ate some green apple candy edibles. we picked up lunch from red and black, then drove over to miller’s pond.
the four of us laid out towels. luka stood and paced around instead. i ate my mozzarella grilled cheese with tomato and pesto on foccacia. i felt an almost disturbing sense of calm. the whole day i felt high. i waded into the pond up to my waist. it’s rare that outside smells as incredible as it did today. i watched a group of guys climb over the rocks on the other side of the pond. we sat for awhile. i felt unquestionably happy, comfortable in a way i never felt last year at wes. i laughed a lot.
i dropped them back off at school, changed clothes and met sophie in the vine parking lot. i called dad on the way over and told him about luka’s love of werner herzog. it’s funny how much i love talking to him recently. i was standing on the grassy edge of the parking lot waiting for sophie when a saw three cars crash into each other. everyone was fine. lily and her new friends (not really new) walked up. it wasn’t awkward, but something felt weird. not in a bad way. in an “everyone’s just kind of saying nonsense in their own world” type of way. i had dinner with lily last night. today, she said to me, “sophie you really changed my life yesterday. nothing matters.” i guess i convinced her that nothing matters so good for me.
sophie and i got in her car again with a comfort i never felt last year. we drove to a trader joes kinda far away, like 15 miles. i didn’t mind, in fact i wish it was further. we waited in line for awhile before wandering around the store without really knowing what we were there for. we sat and ate cheese puffs in her car. we drove to a ice cream shop that was closed. i kept getting distracted and forgetting to tell her when to turn. we stopped at pond for a couple minutes. next stop was a dairy queen. i didn’t care if the dairy queen also ended up being closed. two soft serves. nana called and i got frazzled.
we drove to a movie theater. our movie wasn’t starting for an hour. we walked around the pretty desolate intersection of car dealerships and abandoned strip malls. we wandered into the dollar tree and laughed at random shit. i felt very american. very aware that i was young. aware that this is the beginning of my life (well hopefully). we ended up at the movie theater kind of early. it was my first time at a theater since the start of the pandemic. it didn’t really feel like 6 months since the movies. i got a pretzel; she got nachos. we bought tickets to see tenet. spoiler alert: it was horrendous. we sat down in the plush reclining chairs (fancy shit), only to find out that ruth bader ginsburg died. i didn’t really know how to react. my legs went a little numb.
we watched that horrible movie. a part of me felt like we should have left; it was so unbearable to watch. if i had been alone, i would have left. i didn’t want it to end in a heartbreakingly sweet way. it felt nice to be physically close to someone, whispering our complaints about the movie, touching arms, heads close together. it’s overwhelming to wonder when i’ll get that again. everything feels like it might be the last time these days. i forgot how warm other people are. that’s so depressing. i lost my keys in the maze underneath the chair. she found them.
we left and drove back to middletown. she played more phoebe bridgers. i’m annoyed by how much i love her taste in music. a lot more attractive than mine. we drove around middletown for awhile, through the cemetery, around wadsworth mansion. i said something weird about how i didn’t think jenny slate should’ve been replaced in big mouth. she disagreed and it was awkward and the thought of bothering her made me want to jump out of the car. i sort of recovered. she dropped me off.
things get worse when i start to feel things for her. i’m going to try and fail not to.

SugarDaddy!Cal Pt. 7
Sorry for the long wait you guys. I wrote this chapter while eating grilled cheese sandwiches and a cup of sweet tea lmaoo. As always don’t be shy to send me feedback and I need 100 notes for the next chapter, but I’m sure you know this by now.
**WARNING**: SMUT
One/ Two/ Three/ Four/Five/Six/Seven/Eight/ Nine/Ten/Eleven/Twelve/Thirteen/Fourteen/Fifteen Sixteen/ Seventeen/ Eighteen/ Nineteen/Twenty{END}
The first thing you felt when you woke up was pain. Excruciating pounding in your head to be exact. Just the slightest movement made it worse and you silently vowed to never drink again, although you knew for a fact you were lying. You got a whiff of the scent of waffles and shot up, rushing to the bathroom to empty your stomach from the alcohol and the small bit of food you consumed the night before. God, did you feel awful.
You flushed the toilet and sat on the cool tile floors for a moment, deciding on whether you were strong enough to stand or not. It was then you realized that you were staring into Calum's room after noticing the messiness and his navy blue and grey duvet hanging halfway on the floor. You stood up and grabbed your spare toothbrush to clean away the horrendous taste that was left in your mouth. After you splashed your face with cold water a couple of times, you decided to go find Calum. It had to be at least eleven or twelve, because usually Calum would still be asleep beside you when you woke up.
Once you made your way downstairs you smiled slightly seeing Ashton sitting at the kitchen table, happily munching on a waffle. It wasn't an unusual occurrence for you to sit with him and converse over coffee and food whenever you came over.
"Hey, curly top ." He greeted as he watched you slowly make your way over and plop down in front of him."We got you breakfast." Ashton pointed out and pushed the Waffle House bag towards you.
"Hey." You spoke quietly and he laughed lightly.
"Calum told me about your eventful night."
"I regret going."
"I bet you do, you look awful."
"Gee, thanks."You said sarcastically and he let out a laugh.
Ashton kept in mind not to laugh too loud, knowing that your head was most likely killing you. He left the room to grab you two Advils. When he returned to the table, you were slowly chewing your food with you head resting in your palm. You could just tell you looked miserable.
"Take these." He smiled as he placed them into your hand, pushing your drink towards you."And Calum said you loved sweet tea, so here you are."
"This is most likely going to be the highlight of my day."
"You eating Waffle House?"
"Yes."
Ashton laughed and left you to eat alone, most likely going into the living room with whoever else was present in the house hold. You've come to realize that the four boys are most of the time always together, whether it's just two or all four of them. Just your luck today, all four were sitting in the living room. Luke and Michael's eyes stayed fixated on you once you entered the room, since this was the first time they could get a proper look at you. You knew you looked awful, but that wasn't even your main concern at the moment. Your main concern was that you were dirty and had on a shirt that was little too short without a bra, and that's just something you don't do a bunch of guys unless it's Connor and Felix.
"Cal?"
"Yeah?" He looked over at you and you rubbed your eyes.
"Don't I have spare clothes here?"
"Uh..." he trailed as he thought."check the laundry room."
Once you found a shirt, a pair of nike shorts and surprisingly a bra and panties, you decided to shower. When you finished that after ten minutes, you returned to the living room and took the only seat left available which was Calum's lap. Like always, his hand rested on your butt as you snuggled into his chest.
"You used my soap?"he smiled, loving the fact that you smelled like him.
"Mhmm." You hummed."I'm starting to love the smell of coconut."
"So this is the Y/N he's been talking about lately?" Luke smiled and you moved your head slightly to be able to see the blonde boy better.
"Nice to meet you. Sorry you had to catch me slippin', I've got a major hangover."
"No big deal, you're still beautiful." He shrugged.
"Aww, thanks. Luke, right?."
"Yeah."
"I'm Michael." The boy beside him smiled." We met last night, but I'm sure you don't remember."
"I don't, I'm sorry, but nice to meet you."
It was quiet for a couple of moments before one of the guys decided to break the silence.
"So, how did you two meet?" Ashton asked and muted the tv, the three boys giving you their full attention. They wanted to know more about the girl Calum's so smitten with after only a month.
You laughed nervously, not wanting to tell them how one of your best friends catfished him into buying you the black Louboutins you wore out last night, and you definitely didn't want to tell them you agreed to be his sugar baby the following day.
"We met at Margi's pizza parlor and sort of just ate together." You lied and Calum immediately caught on.
"Yep, she was eating alone, so I offered to sit with her."
"And he's fine as fuck, so it's not like I was going to say no." You laughed."We hit it off and exchanged numbers and here we are."
"I'm surprised we're just now meeting you to be honest." Luke took a sip of his juice, pulling his legs onto the couch.
"I actually met Ashton like within a week or two of knowing Calum."
"I asked her who she was and she asked me the same question." Ashton laughed at the memory." We have breakfast together almost every morning at this point. She's here quite often."
"Do you go to college?" Michael questioned and you nodded.
"Yeah,I'm a sophomore with a nursing major. Most of the time I'm in classes or studying, other times I'm out partying and trying to get over hangovers. Yanno, the typical college student life."
You then turned to Calum with a confused expression on your face." How'd you even end up at a frat party, Cal?"
"You looked completely wasted on your Snapchat so I asked Felix where you and Connor went." He shrugged.
"Captain save the drunk girl." Michael joked and you all laughed.
You engaged in conversation about yourself with the three boys, Calum occasionally dropping his input in while rubbing circles on your back. He groaned loudly when you sat up a bit and you turned your head to see the problem.
"Your hair." Calum complained, pushing the mop of curls away from his face so he could see around it."I love your curls, but your hair's so damn big."
"Sorry." You laughed pulling the headband from your wrist and going to put it in a low pony puff."Better?"
"Much."
"Woah, Cal, what did you do to her last night?" Luke laughed and the two of you furrowed your eyebrows." Left quite the mark."
Calum eyes traveled to your neck where a dark purple mark was left on your skin and he sat puzzled trying to remember when he gave you a hickey. Your hand shot up to your neck and you applied less pressure when you felt the slight pain from the bruise. You and the boys returned your attention to the tv, but Calum sat there and tried to figure out when exactly he gave you a hickey. It was then, a couple of minutes later, he realized where it came from and within a blink of an eye his mood changed. He moved you from his lap and stormed out of the room and slammed his bedroom door. You all looked at each other with confused expressions as you silently questioned each other about what had happened.
"I'm gonna go check on him." You pointed your thumb towards the stairs and followed him cautiously. "Cal?" You knocked before entering the room.
He was sprawled out on his bed and  his face showed nothing but anger as he scrolled through his phone. He ignored your presence at first, but when you sat beside him he huffed in annoyance.
"Go the fuck away."
"What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing, leave me alone, Y/N. I don't want to talk to you right now."
"What the hell did I do?" You questioned, raising your voice slightly."Hello?" You said when he didn't answer you.
"Fuck off."
"Well fuck you too then." You rolled your eyes, standing to leave the room.
Just as you were about to leave, you were pressed against the door, your breath picking up the second you felt Calum pressed against your back.
"You let that fucking prick give you a hickey last night."
"What are you talki-"
"You were letting some guy feel you up when I came and got you. " he spat and you now understood that he was both jealous as well as pissed at you for it."Probably would've fucked him if I hadn't stepped in."
Calum then began to to tug at your shorts until he successfully pulled them down your legs along with your panties.
"Calum-" you began to protest, but he interrupted.
"You've clearly forgotten who you belong to, so I guess I have to show you."
Just that one sentence caused a mini Niagara Falls between your thighs. You heard a bit of shuffling around behind you before Calum turned you around and pushed you to your knees.
"Open your mouth, princess."
You opened your mouth for him, your hand gripping the base of his cock. You hollowed your cheeks as you sucked and stroked your hand onto what you couldn't fit. Calum's head was thrown back in pleasure when you deep throated him and bobbed your head, allowing his tip to hit the back of your throat each time.
"Fuck, babygirl, come here." He pulled you up and placed his lips against yours.
The kiss was filled with lust and Calum took over since he was being completely dominate. His tongue massaged yours and his hands traveled between your legs, practically moaning at the wetness he felt.
"You like being dominated, don't you?" He questioned, trailing kisses down your jaw and lightly biting at the skin.
"Mhmm."
"Turn around." He demanded and once again you were pressed into the door.
He didn't waste anytime before pushing into you to the hilt, and you both were glad that you were on birth control because a condom was the last thing on his mind. Calum showed no mercy as he pounded into you, the door rattling from the force of it. You struggled with keeping quiet, knowing that his friends were downstairs and would definitely hear you.
"You like when I pound into you? Don't you, princess?"
"Fuck, yes."
Suddenly Calum stopped and your head was yanked back by your hair which caused a slight stinging pain, but you loved it nonetheless.
"Yes what?"
"Yes, daddy." You moaned and he let out a dark chuckle and picked up the fast pace he had going a couple of moments before.
It didn't take long before your first orgasm came spiraling down on you, your legs nearly giving out from the intensity of it. Calum pulled out and lifted you by your waist, your legs wrapping around his torso when he slid back into you. You sucked into the skin of his thick neck and scratched down his back, aiding to his pleasure. How Calum had the strength to hold you there for as long as he did? You had no idea. Calum pressed your back against the wall as you came once again and gave you a couple of sloppy thrust before he moaned into the crook of your neck. You sighed as you felt the warm liquid oozing down your thigh. The two of stayed in that position panting and gasping for breath for a couple of seconds before you slid down his body, your legs feeling like jelly.
"Fuck." You laugh as your legs nearly gave out on you."That was...wow."
Calum didn't say anything while he left to clean himself up in the bathroom. He did, however, return with a cold towel for you and you thanked him. He pulled on his boxers and sweats and was about to leave the room, but you grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks.
"Are you still mad?"
"Of course I'm mad. I thought it was apart of the deal to not do shit with other people?" He scolded and you bit your lip nervously.
"It is-"
"Then why'd you let him feel you up? I honestly think you would've had sex with him if I wasn't there, Y/N."
"I'm sorry, okay? It didn't mean anything, I just get a bit out of control when I'm drunk." You explained, although you knew you broke a rule.
"I was actually going to take you to get something today, but I've changed my mind." He shrugged and you started at him in shock as he left you in the room with your mouth opened.
"You can't be serious?"
"I'm so serious, babe. It's a punishment." He laughed when he heard you groan out in annoyance, leaving you in the room alone.
