-the repercussions of all of Hell now knowing that angels can be killed. How would the hell denizens and the angels react to it? Would exterminations still be a thing?

-I heard about the fact that Angel has a sister in heaven who was actually cameod in ep6, so I'd like to see their storyline explored too

-more of the mentor/mentee relationship between Rosie/Charlie and Carmila/Vaggie. I just love that they're role models for different things, with Rosie teaching Charlie that she can lead demons even tho she also has a bright disposition while Carmilla teaches Vaggie how to fight for her loved ones without leaving herself vulnerable.

-Chaggie proposal? Maybe something Vaggie works up to do the whole season and she pops the question at the finale. It would be great if she asks Lucifer advice too, especially if this triggers him to reminisce about his own failed marriage

-I wanna see Alastor do something truly evil. And I dont mean eating some nameless fodders or stories about him torturing overlords. you are so very homestuck knowledgeable. when you have the time and should inspiration strike, please tell all your headcanons about oliveblood trolls.

ooo what a great question! for this one i think first we'd need to break down current stereotypes about olivebloods. there's actually not much that we're given about them tbh

according to the homestuck wiki, which is based on info from both the comic and more dubiously canon things like friendsim and hiveswap, the olive caste's two singular traits seem to be "wild animal" and "romance liker". both of these, obviously, are traits pulled from our wonderful main girl nepeta, who was the singular representation of the olive caste for a long time; alongside her dancestors. which is quite cute, who doesn't love nepeta?

the thing is though that i am one of those nitpicky people who likes to say, "well, hey now, nepeta isn't actually representative of her caste at ALL." in fact, none of the beta trolls are. i honestly feel like it should be assumed that just like the beta kids, the beta trolls are weirdos, and not really the 'norm' in their society.

nepeta lives out in the wilderness very specifically away from society in a way that is remarked on as being unusual even for someone of her color; and she does not even understand what role her caste would have given her in normal society. and i mean... considering aradia tavros and sollux are LOWER than nepeta, it doesn't really make sense for them all to have nicer houses than her unless she's unusual in her situation.

^ nepeta is in fact NOT a good representation of olivebloods.

which means... no, i don't think all olive trolls are romance obsessed wilderness girls, actually, sorry, hiveswap friendsim, i have to shelve you from my alternia analysis for now.

luckily, there ARE other olivebloods in the series!

first of all, the other leijons. unfortunately, none of them are really "good" examples either. meulin is from an entirely different planet, and disciple is from an ancient history perhaps even less representative of "normal" life than nepeta is. all we really get from them is stuff we already knew from nepeta-- the wildness, the relationship interest. with an added fact that both meulins seem to be somewhat bookish.

and so who does that bring us to? the final canonical oliveblood.

that's right.

troll will smith.

troll will smith is canonically an oliveblood. not only that, but he's a famous actor, which means he is basically a "model" for society- for what it looks like once you "have it all made". i would imagine this goes even more for alternia, supposedly a very movie-geared society.

the two troll will smith features that canonically exist on alternia are Fresh Prince and Hitch. in both of these films, will smith plays a character that is self-made and clever, a regular guy who is just skilled. it should also be noted that while a "threshecutioner" is a job with a heavy blueblood populous, greenbloods can also be one, and it's common enough that a show about it wasn't cut by the alternian dictatorship.

so therefore, what traits can we pull that all of these olivebloods (and equius lol) display to us?

olive trolls are lower class, but they're capable of working up through their connections

likely due to this, olive trolls are often clever and self made. they're likely quick-witted and sharp

they're good at their jobs! most olive trolls that are seen in the comic are very good with their respective practices (be it drawing, writing, bookkeeping, or melee fighting)

it's possible that olive trolls have a good intuition, and are fairly in touch with their own instincts. this would explain why some of them seem to fare better in the wild or in fights, and also why they are stereotyped as having a natural inclination for relationships. i think this is also a good transition ground between the impressive physical psionics of the castes lower than olive, and the emotional/mental psionics of the highbloods above them.

so, there we go. these are my olive headcanons! they're not comfortably well off or anything, but they're not wild animals either-- they're hard workers and skilled at what they put their minds to. probably usually working a nine to five and doing their best in life hoping to move up with a good quadrant or promotion. at least, in my headcanon anyway- no need to take this as fact!

"Okay she met her gf who she (and gf) thought was an AI in a supercomputer and decided that she wanted to get her Out of there, causing another AI (an actual AI this time) to try to kill everyone multiple times, causing multiple timeline resets and sooooo much trauma. That's just how it is tbh, they're french what do you expect. Anyways she's very introverted, constantly pulling all nighters, coooonstantly sooo fuckin paranoid and stressed, etc. Her friends call her "Einstein" because she's a genius (and also literally has a poster of albert einstein on her wall so-), to the point where she literally fails tests purposely to avoid being put in a GATE school.

Also she canonically hacks the french government multiple times and commits crimes such as, ofc, hacking, stealing from a school credit card, human cloning (not sure if that's Illegal but it sure is morally unsound!), forgery, identity theft / impersonation, etc... and this is a protagonist of a y7 TV show! Great role models up in here /lh

At one point, after being called fascist, Barbie flexes her encyclopedic knowledge of fascist history, “I don’t control the railways and flow of commerce.” So Barbie knows about fascism, and still only cares about cellulite ?? Her big arc is learning to accept her flawless appearance. The only thing she pursues in life is a gynecologist. That’s it, folks. That’s your feminist role model, a woman who takes no interest in anything that’s happening in the world outside of her looks. Great !

Why is it considered feminist and positive for young girls to watch a film where the third-act conflict is resolved by Barbies learning to PLAY DUMB so they can manipulate their boyfriends and get what they want ? It’s the film’s entire resolution, it saves the day ! A montage of Barbies dumbing themselves down so they can manipulate their Kens is how peace is restored in Barbieland. Yikes !

tbh the movie is very much of a failure. not only it’s not feminist or whatever they claim, it wasn’t enjoyable at all. script makes no sense, dialogues are cringe and boring. i didn’t understand a shit about what was its purpose or what story ended with. what it achieved? what we should have learned from it? long ass movie and nothing happened.

sure, again capitalism won. this movie(!) distorted feminism & feminist perspective and diminished its meaning like we do not fight to preserve it for ages.

i can’t believe how many women think it’s a movie of all times, specially made for us.

I’m starting to think that the kid the lady is next to in that one painting (when the guest are chasing you) is probably not their daughter or someone important, maybe it was a promotional painting to show people thus “hey, look the lady is good with kids!” When the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

DUDE I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR CENTURIESSSS THAT GIRL IS NOT HER KID BROOOO

Look with all the evidence I've gathered atp I am very convinced that the girl in the painting is her. I am compiling everything in a post to answer another anon rn but I deadass started to dislike any theory involving the concept of the Lady being a mother.

I myself have done this in the past (the parallels between her and the Pretender were not lost on me), but tbh I think she works so much better without having a kid for a multitude of reasons.

She does not like people. She wants to be left alone. To go out there and find someone who would have a child with her -- no actually scratch that, FOR HER TO FIND SOMEONE SHE TOLERATES ENOUGH TO HAVE A CHILD WITH would be out of character considering what we know about her.

^ same reason as to why I think she wouldn't adopt under normal circumstances.

^^ a child under her care would last a maximum of 3 days.

None of the children that were indicated as having relations back to her look like the girl in the painting. RCG's hair are too brownish and too long + how would she leave the Maw? Where would she find a hot air balloon near/on a submarine?, the Pretender is albino + the developers went out of their way to make her face very different from the other kids, the Flashlight Girl looks like any other girl in the Maw because they reused her model + she has 0 relevance before and after that + I think the girl in the painting was slightly remodeled and differently rendered just for the pictures like the other Ladies were resized and had their hairstyles modified.

^ These are all great in AU context, but I think canonically none of them would work/line up. The best bet for daughter title was Six and the developers went out of their way to publicly state that they are NOT related in that way.

IN SAID STATEMENT THE DEVS SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING MOTHERLY ABOUT THE LADY.

The fact that so many people want to push the mother theory onto her really sounds like a scapegoat to not explore her character further. I would not be as upset if I hadn't seen her be dismissed as just a "heartless mother who hates her daughter/wants their beauty/is envious of her child" and yadda yadda yadda so many times.

Do you know how many times that trope has been done? And for it to be applied to such a layered, complex character as her only traits? That and being vain maybe if you're feeling generous, when the truth is that she is quite literally the most complex LN antagonist -- much like Six is the most complex protagonist. Six and the Lady are/have both been victims of fandom misogyny and it kills me to my core send tumblr post

I'm sorry for the rant. Again, I do enjoy the thought of the Lady being in a motherly role (I HAVE MADE A LADY MOM AU MYSELF) but not if it means assassinating her character. The only Lady assassination I support is the one carried out by Six.

Last season's anime: Frieren episode 7-10

Shit I guess I'm full on liveblogging this one now.

This time we have episode 7 dir. Naoto Uchida (known for work on Mob Psycho 100), episode 8 dir. Tomoya Kitagawa (who also directed ep. 2), episode 9 dir. Kōki Fujimoto (key animator on a whole buncha stuff, this is his debut as an episode director), and episode 10 dir. Nobihide Kariya (who debuted not so long before as an episode director on Bocchi).

So at the end of the last post about Frieren, I commented that I found the demons underwhelming as antagonists, and hoped they would have their motivations fleshed out some more beyond 'ontologically evil baddies'. Well.

lmao.

So Frieren and the gang are travelling. We get a lot more on the Great Mage Flamme, who is Frieren's mentor figure. At this rate... she's probably gonna turn out to still be alive or some shit.

They roll up in another ridiculously picturesque town. The backgrounds in this show are apparently based heavily on the concept art paintings of Seiko Yoshioka, who gets credited under various roles including 'layout designer' and even 'worldview illustrator'. She did a crazy amount of work to design all the different settings, giving them distinctive cultural motifs and architectures and colour palettes and so on.

Since this town covers a whole four-episode arc, we get a number of different views of it. There's definitely a reasonable amount of historical care put into the design of those city walls - even sketchy and in the distance you can spot the hoardings and appropriately narrow crenellations, as well as the machicolations on the tops of the towers. (Though unfortunatelly some of those details seem to get forgotten in the later episodes.)

The streets in the town seem kinda wide and clean but it fits the austere vibe. The main thing I'm wondering is what exactly they eat in this town - it's triple-walled in hostile territory without much in the way of farmland in sight, or indeed roads that aren't tiny.

I'm pretty sure they built a model of at least parts of this town in 3D, because as well as certain 3D tracking shots (unfortunately hampered by the lack of any parallax mapping on the floor)...

...we also get shots like this one, which feature a crazy 3-point perspective:

I wouldn't say it's impossible to draw this, but it would be a hell of a lot easier to block it out roughly in 3D and then paint in the details.

Mind you, that's not even the wildest perspective we get in this episode. Check this out:

Absolutely bananas. I love it.

But tbh the praise I have for this arc is pretty limited to this kind of technical stuff. Let's get into the story. (Though you can be sure I'll have more to say about the animation!)

At this point the story shifts gears from this fairly low-key exploration of grief and the passing of time, into more standard action anime territory.

Shortly after arriving in this town, our heroes discover that it has been infiltrated by demons in the guise of peace emissaries. Frieren attempts to attack immediately, but she allows herself to be subdued rather than harm the guards, so off she goes to jail.

Luckily, wizard jail still has pretty generous visiting hours, so she's able to explain the deal with demons to the gang. Frieren declares that demons always lie to gain an advantage over humans, illustrated through a flashback in which a young girl demon begged for mercy, only to betray the townspeople a bit later. Having been proven right, Frieren summarily executes the girl.

I think it's worth comparing this storyline to a couple of other similar storylines in other works of fiction.

First of all, in NieR Replicant/Gestalt, there is the story 'The Little Mermaid', which was adapted into a segment in the game in the remake. A postman takes pity on a girl on a shipwreck, not realising that she is a terribly powerful monster who is struggling to maintain her human appearance. The girl starts killing people to try to maintain her connection with the postman. Eventually, the player shows up and discovers what's been going on. Their intervention provokes the girl to revert to monster state and there's a big boss fight. However, at stake in the fight is the girl's identity. Depending on how you play the boss fight, there are two possible endings, and both of them make overt parallels between the monster girl and your party member Kainé, and one portrays the grief of the postman who cannot let go of his affection for the monster.

Secondly, the second episode of last year's Tengoku Daimakyou features a woman who is trying to protect a monster which she believed to have taken on the consciousness of her son after it ate him. The monster has been curiously non-hostile to the woman - she persuades our protagonists to back off, and they agree. Then it abruptly kills her! Oh shit. Fight scene, they kill the monster, etc.

But as they depart, the protagonists are left discussing whether the monster could really have had the son affecting its actions, whether it was just drawn to prey etc. The monster's motivations are left distinctly unclear, and the protagonists conclude there's no way to know the truth. Throughout the rest of the season, the exact nature of the monsters remains an open question.

In both cases, we either know or it is strongly implied that the monsters are fundamentally human, or derived from humans somehow. A certain amount of effort is spared to try and at least raise the question of the monster's subjectivity, and even if a monster has to die, they play it for tragedy.

So, let's return to Frieren. We're introduced to the demon girl. She ate a kid, but she staves off execution by pleading for her mother.

The villagers decide to give her a chance to atone. Before long, she kills the village chief who took pity on her. Frieren's party show up and she does small Shaft head tilt...

She's no longer pretending and talks in a much more level voice. She explains that she wanted to give a replacement daughter to the family of the girl she ate, by removing the village chief, for the sake of living in peace. This goes down about how you'd expect. Frieren goes ahead and kills her. As she's dying, Frieren asks why she called for her mother when demons don't raise kids. The answer she gets:

She is surprisingly forthcoming on this front, and honestly, self-preservation is something like an understandable motivation. The impression you get from this flashback sequence is a being that is amoral, and encountering humans as something alien and, honestly, kinda threatening. Why she killed the girl in the first place is an open question - they explicitly say that the demons don't have to eat humans. Even if she kinda felt like it, you'd think she'd be able to figure out it would be an unwise move.

But as far as the show is concerned, the point of this flashback is to establish one thing: demons are lying liars who lie. Frieren is the only one who knows the truth, which is that you must shoot them on sight.

You might think the show would leave some doubt about whether Frieren is justified in having such a severe attitude towards the demons - is she just prejudiced? But nah we go pretty much straight into the demons saying 'Frieren is right about everything, now let'ss discuss our evil plan'.

Props to this guy (he has some longish German name I can't remember) for making this random bench feel like a throne though. Like on some level he's just soft-voiced evil anime aristocrat guy but he does pull it off.

Anyway, one thing definitely doesn't seem to add up. Frieren says that demons are solitary creatures who speak in a human voice only to deceive, but the demons seem to be pretty happy to natter away to each other when no humans are around and express all sorts of thoughts and even express (fairly reserved) emotions. The boy is arrogant, the girl is protective of her boss, etc. The guy is a smooth liar and manages to wriggle out of being killed by the earl by playing the 'we're the same, let's put an end to this' card. But we're constantly reminded it's fake, he's a lying liar who's ontologically evil.

I think the super-deceptive adversary with no qualms about telling any lie is something that can be done well to create an incredibly paranoid scenario. I can't believe I'm mentioning ratfic again in the space of two posts, but this is something Worth The Candle performed very effectively. Though honestly the fantasy of the perfect manipulator who plays everyone like a fiddle is a recurring device in fantasy.

Here... the acting is strong on our main sussy demon dude. But as a worthy adversary, he's not super convincing. He lets his underling run off and get killed, and his response when the jig is up is to reveal that he's super OP and kill everyone nearby, except the governor, who he tortures. So the manipulation angle seems questionably motivated, like he wants the earl to lower the barrier so the demon army can come in... but you're kind of left wondering why he didn't already just go and kill everyone in the city since nobody who isn't Fern or Frieren can touch him. I guess he's trying to get that low chaos route.

I won't continue the beat-by-beat summary. There is a cool fight scene in Frieren's jail cell though, which has some well-integrated 3D. Frieren totally no-sells the boy's attack and cuts his arms off. Lotta dismemberment in these episodes! The main demon guy has some tasty blood-based powers, lots of monofilament whip slicing imagery (also a thing in Tengoku Daimakyou oddly enough). In general the action scenes in this show continue to be super tight. There is a pretty cute bit where Stark is trying to free the earl and can't cut through the rope holding him to a chair, the earl is going 'leave me', and I was sitting there going like 'why not destroy the chair', and then Stark does. So props for that.

Towards the end of ep 8, we learn that Frieren is actually a suuuuper scary battle mage. She was the one who researched the demon killing spell. OOooooohhh.

Seems our demon guy hasn't changed his style in 80 years lol.

And she did not think it too many.

So we already knew that Frieren was part of the party that killed the demon king, the last living person who knew Flamme, etc. etc., so it's not exactly surprising to see once again that she's kind of a big deal. What we seem to be setting up here - or at least maybe I'm just hoping for something more than 'only our hero is wise enough to know coexistence is impossible and a war of annihilation is the only option' - is to suggest a parallel between Frieren and the demons. They're incredibly long-lived, they love to obsessively study magic, they both have a very cold affect, they're calm under fire. If it turned out that Frieren is a demon that would be a fun angle, but I don't think it really tracks. Rather, the framing is suggesting that, when confronted with demons, Frieren is not so different...

We get a title drop in any case - turns out the anime title is an in-story title for its main character. In Japanese: 葬送のフリーレン Sousou no Frieren. 葬送 is translated by jisho.org as

attending a funeral procession; seeing off the deceased; burial of someone's remains; observing a burial

The fansub I'm watching translate it (when used for the character) as 'Frieren the Elegy', which has about the right vibe! In the context for the show title, they translate the same phrase as Frieren: An Ageless Elegy which involves a little more interpolation, but I think it works. The official English title is Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, which is very direct but not a bad subtitle at all. Then again, maybe the bar is in the floor since 'Delicious in Dungeon'.

Anyway, after all that setup, we finally get the big fight episode. Because you see, in contrast to the earlier story which skipped over decades in a montage, this arc spans a whole four episodes. It's not badly done, but it's definitely feeling much more like a standard fight-driven show at this point.

We also meet Aura, one of the demon generals. She looks like a youngish girl and has a habit of doing the sanpaku eye smirk.

Her schtick is that she has magic scales that let her dominate people. Then she cuts their heads off and walks their corpses around. This is represented by a big army of suits of armour, mostly rendered in CG. They've done some kind of filter to make the linework less even, but the difference in shading style is quite noticeable.

From there it's a lot of 'my gambit vs your gambit' and 'who has more mana'. The fights are, without doubt very nicely animated, although the CG castle set used for the big camera moves feels a bit... lacking in detail compared to the gorgeous painted backgrounds. Anyway, Stark wins his fight by the power of GUTS and DETERMINATION, and Fern wins her fight by being a fast analytical type who can stay cool under fire and also knows Frieren's special demonbuster spell. Though a lot of Fern's fight is just kind of both participants standing still with impassive expressions shooting either blood or big laser beams at each other or zipping all around the castle.

Of course, the major turning points in the fight hinge on flashbacks to moments with mentor figures. This is an anime, and more specifically, it's Frieren.

One thing that is interesting is that the 'point of view' indicated by internal monologue often moves from Fern to the demon guy. We get to see him try to think through how to beat her, unsuccessfully. By contrast Stark's fight takes Stark's POV. I don't think we're expected to sympathise with the demon exactly, it's a way of underlining just how badass Fern has now become thanks to Frieren's levelling up regime.

I admit Frieren has lost me a bit by this point. It's not that it's bad at being a fight anime, it hits us with a whole series of stylishly composed and strongly animated cuts. Not novel necessarily, but absolutely well-executed. But it's not a very interesting direction to take the story! I don't care about this town, we'll be leaving it in an episode or two anyway, and the only named character in it is the earl. I wanna know more about the demons but what we get is kinda just a succession of Guys With Powers. He can make his blood fly around and stab people. She can copy anyone's moveset. He has a monofilament wire. She has a magic scale that mind controls you if she has more mana.

So how does Frieren beat the magic scales? ez. It's kind of spelled out as soon as they introduce the scales, but they spend a whole episode explaining how she's been using a relentless mana retention regimen for the last thousand years to hide her power level so that demons underestimate her. It kinda belabours the point lol. Like it kinda has to because if it doesn't try to make a big deal out of the mana hiding thing, you're just left with 'Frieren wins because her number is bigger'. But... Frieren wins because her number is bigger.

I don't hate fight-driven anime. They can be a ton of fun. But honestly, after the emotional impact of the first few episodes, taking it this way seems like it's wasting the early show's strengths. But, I hear episode 11 sees the return of Keiichirō Saitō as enshutsu, and it's said to be one of the best episodes in the show, so I'm not gonna drop it! It's certainly more than pretty enough to be worth watching through to the end.

There is a good amount of nice stuff in this last episode. The pseudo-Roman town is a cool depiction of a different material culture a thousand years prior to the main story. The 'field of flowers' magic is called back as a specific invention of Flamme - Frieren's whole deal is to kind of go around doing things to commemorate dead people and it turns out the flowers thing lets her do it twice over! We get to set up some parallels - Frieren could intuit that Flamme was a super OP mage, and Himmel could do the same for her.

We also get some worldbuilding stuff about the demons: they have to constantly display their power level to determine their place in the demon pecking order bc they're soooo individualistic. This seems a little dubious to me - like are the demons really so dumb? Is 'hide your power level' such an incomprehensible concept? It seems like it would lead to some kind of Diplomacy-like situation where other demons would team up to take you down.

Honestly, I think what bothers me about all this is like... I don't like the concept of an ontologically evil monster at the best of times, but the demons are obviously not mindlessly malevolent with no inner lives. They talk and scheme and feel things (such as 'proud of their magic'). They have an honour system. But the narrative doesn't quite seem to be able to acknowledge that this is what it's doing. Besides levelling up their magic, we have no idea what the demons want, still, except that it seems to involve killing humans sometimes.

Anyway! kvin has an article about this section, so if you'd like to read about who did which bit and how they worked together resourcefully and where the storyboard creates imagery of separation and so on, there ya go! It sounds from this article like the manga gets a better handle on what it's trying to do with the demons later on, so I'll hold out hope.

Thought Id give a little bit of info on them.

Daniel is Parker's father and also Percy's older brother. He's an I.T guy for colleges n stuff. He's 6'0 tall and 40 years old.

Harper is Parker's mother and is also chef at a local restaurant in Glassport. Yes, they live in Glassport, across Taiga Country. She's 5'8 and 38 years old.

Parker was an accident. Dead ass. They (from the start didn't want her) Harper grew fond of her daughter and actually tried to be a good mother.

Daniel, is like his mother. He's stuck in the past, and is also a narcissist. Harper deserves better tbh. Parker was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 8, and that's when Mr. Asshole came out and said-

"We can't keep her." Daniel said as he put his hands on his hips. Harper sighed and crossed her arms.

"She's your daughter." She asserted. "Your own flesh and blood and yet you want to abandon her?" Harper knew Daniels games, and his outdated way of thinking, it made her angry. "What good is that going to do?"

"it'll get her out of our hair." Daniel rolled his eyes. "She'll grow up to be like her." He said 'her' as if it was poison. "And I'll be damned if I have a repeat of that."

"Who? Percy?" Harper scoffed. "Well if anything, I want her to be like Percy. She's doing great for her age, she's 25 and she's been promoted twice!"

"Percy is a dyke. She always has been." Daniel spat. "I'm not raising a neurodivergent dyke in this household Harper, end of story!"

Harper was holding back tears, she liked Percy, she thought she was a great role model for their daughter. She swallowed. "Fine." She softly said. "If you don't want her, I'm sure Percy will do a fine job raising her."

Yeahhhh Daniel is a dick, like his mom..

[Slides on in] Heya, so I have just discovered ya via TADC and looked at your TADC stuff and was wondering if ya had any other lore bits ya feel like you could share?

sure thing! i actually have two tadc aus/stories rn, so i’ll just post some lore for both

sexyman descendants

all three of them are unfinished npcs created by caine, planned to be used in adventures (maybe as a ‘taking care of a fake baby’ exercise of some kind?), but he scrapped the idea of using them. instead, he placed them into a deep sleep and stored them away in one of the areas of the circus that would be inaccessible to the performers.

the three of them ended up waking up from that sleep too early though, and spent the rest of their time trying to escape from “the storage room” and (believing themselves to be performers) practicing their performances.

they eventually escaped storage, and briefly lived with the rest of the performers. it wasn’t a great arrangement, though— because jax and poppi had no idea how to raise the kids that were basically just dropped in their laps, and abel was too similar to caine, seeing him as competition for the role of ringmaster.

abel eventually led poppi and jj out on an “adventure” of their own, seeking to prove to cain that they deserve to be ringmaster more than he does— only for their unfinished programming to cause them to noclip out of the circus and into tumblr high.

they now basically live at school, trying wacky schemes to return to the digital world and doing their best to adjust to their new environment.

jj is regularly on the receiving end of slapstick, especially within abel’s performances. he always bounces back right after, but he quickly learned to hate the life of a performer and is enjoying/adjusting to the real world far more than the other two.

poppi has basically zero concept of personal space, and will physically cling to people if she’s excited/scared/upset— which does not mesh well with pomni.

abel takes school talent shows very seriously, seeing them as their chance to prove themself/their troupe as performers. it’s gotten to the point where poppi and jj actively hide when tryouts for talent shows start.

untitled pomni escapes au

i’m thinking this au takes place in the 90s, since that would match up with the model of computer monitor shown in the pilot (and tadc is based on 90s kid’s games).

i haven’t fully decided how she manages to escape tbh? i’m leaning toward the idea of it being a lucky accident/pure chance though, since it adds more dramatic tension when it comes to the question of “should she try and go back for the others”

the other performers/npcs are still in the circus! from their perspective, pomni didn’t show up for an adventure one day, leading to caine making “find pomni” the new adventure for the day… but when none of the performers could find her and caine (secretly) checked the void/the areas inaccessible to the performers and still didn’t find her, that’s when everyone freaked out

caine’s pretty upset over pomni’s disappearance, not only because he’s worried she got hurt/lost outside of the circus, but also because he genuinely doesn’t understand why she’d want to leave. the other performer’s reactions range from worrying abt her to just being angry that she didn’t take anyone with her and seemingly isn’t coming back for them.

on pomni’s side of things, she’s just trying to adjust to life outside the circus the best she can. it’s a pretty difficult task though, and she regularly struggles with the trauma/feelings of survivor’s guilt from her time in the circus.

she’s very conflicted on if she should try and go back to save the other performers. because yeah, it’s the morally right thing to do and they don’t deserve to be trapped there, but she’d really rather forget about the circus forever and there’s no guarantee that she’d be able to recreate the circumstances that let her escape for all of them (plus there’s always the risk that she’ll just get stuck there again).

aside from job-hunting, she’s been keeping tabs in news about the c&a company to try and find her human identity— specifically after finding news about a string of employee disappearances. she hasn’t been able to find much yet because of the legal red tape surrounding the case, though.

Fan Post

So I just finished Wonderland of Love. I can't pick what to watch next and ended up starting The Legend of Zhuohua.

I already know I love Xu Kai, and now Jing Tian too because they are both epic and Wonderland of Love was so awesome. I have long been crushing on Xu Kai since I watched him in Falling Into Your Smile.

As a girl and then a woman and a creative spirit and as a cool person in general, I always prefer stories where girls and women save themselves and then others (even the heroes) because for the love of everything, the damsels in distress thing is NOT all we can do. Heck, we're way stronger, smarter and more capable than that if we actually put effort into it. On that note, that is also why I love books like 'The Princess Saves Herself On This One by Amanda Lovelace' and things like that.

But going back to Jing Tian, so it's only my second time watching her in 'The Legend of Zhuohua' and once again, she's that strong, independent, brilliant, wiseass and cunning female lead. Can I just say I love her roles?⭐ Like, she's so great at picking them!

Now, in my fav cdrama cast/heroines, she's right there with Zhao Lusi as Bai Fengxi/Princess Xi Yun in Who Rules the World. I'll also add Enola Holmes to the list haha.

So yup, I think Jing Tian is awesome. And google says she's 35. She's still so beautiful and super talented and I think she's a role model for it.

The thing is, I have also seen posts about people targeting actors/actresses for their age and having younger partners/leads. The one I saw was targeted on Bailu in SOKP. I can't speak about the casting truth be told. It isn't my place. But personally for me, 5-10yrs is alright.

The only one I wanted to watch but ended up feeling cringe about is 'Dating in the Kitchen'. Sorry if you're a fan. Tbh, I love the story plot too and I love Zhao Lusi. It seems like a good show, but I tried it and the age gap is just too vast for me. I couldn't fully enjoy it like the other shows, so I just watched clips.

If you have suggestions for dramas/books with strong female leads and handsome heroes, do share please :)

Bottom line, yup, Jing Tian is awesome haha.

If he's with Shivon it's not a bad sign, after all she's a good, average role model for the type of woman Elon always chooses, if it's her, that's great, but I don't want to be negative This between them could be temporary, and it was for this 'eye-candy' reason that made Grimes lose all balance she had. The guy left her for an employee, and that in itself is crazy They are living together and I don't believe it is out of friendship, but rather because there is a possible relationship, and that over time people could get used to the idea. Welcome to the Shivon family, FOR NOW

I dont hate Shivon tbh. She seems like a normal person. She is the least weird one out of the bunch.

Sass frass. Will like telling you interesting info..that you may or may not know. She would like to believe that you DIDN’T KNOW.

Can be an overly dramatic drama Queen to a ‘T’

Has a doesn’t give a f*ck attitude- and literally doesn’t give a f*ck.

She will tell you openly how she feels about you- she has no filter whatsoever. If you want an honest opinion she will give you one gladly.

She is not afraid of who she is. She makes that pretty obvious.

She has great confidence in herself and what she can do.

Is a major gun loving creature.

She just loves shooting at things- not so much a sniper (she doesn’t really like shooting far away it doesn’t give her enjoyment) but more up close and personal 😮‍💨

She’s a great physical combat person. Fist fighting is her preference. Admittedly she isn’t the strongest but she can lay a good punch or kick if she wanted to.

She literally has a sailor’s mouth (yes it’s already been said once, but it’s literal)

Unlike her sister she isn’t the most prone to peacekeeping first, she rather go in headlong and start a fight. She is the ultimate fighter. A Mando at heart. It doesn’t bother her.

She likes making it clear she’s nothing like her sister A LOT. She’s prone to being pretty deadpan about it.

Is similar to Sabine but WAY HIGHER on the ‘sass’ part and perhaps stubbornness. She probably has a worse edge than Sabine, but it could just be her rebelliousness in nature.

Gets along best with Star, those two are two peas in a pod- literally. It drives Sephora insane and gives her a constant headache. She secretly thinks they do it purposely.

Gets along with Scorch too but he jokes more with her than actually gets her into trouble. Apparently he’s mature enough to know better unlike some *coughs Star* *Coughs*

Likes Cody a lot. She really looks up to him. He’s like the Star Commander to her. (At least that’s what it looks like) Is like a big brother to her. She really respects his person, and is constantly a role model for her. She secretly likes it when he gives her attention, and strives to receive such attention. He’s almost like her idol in a way. She gets really excited when he listens to what she has to say, praises her on something or just simply pats her head. Like patting her head makes her so excited. Like she did something really good and actually feels valued by him 🥹🥹 She’s like a baby sissy at heart.

She has a terrible nag to steal some of the men’s helmets, and put them on 😆 she especially likes the Commando ones because the ‘visor’. It usually is always Scorch, because there are some she is too scared to even ‘attempt’ to steal from. She’s done Gregor and some of Sephora’s men but besides that she wouldn’t even dare. She was scared for the longest of time for trying Wolffe’s. But she did it one day..but she never did it again. She reverns him too much 😅 And he intimidates her she won’t lie. But she likes his helmet…

Unlike her sister she doesn’t drink nearly as much caff. She really doesn’t care for the stuff tbh. Yet she’ll drink it. Tbh though she really doesn’t need the extra energy she has plenty of it 😆

Is definitely an extrovert, that much is apparent. Her sister Sephora is the natural introvert, same goes for her brother but he’s a little more extroverted than Sephora in some ways.

She has a little crush on Gregor. She can’t help it the poor girl, it’s just her attraction 😅

She hates it, but she can’t help it. Everyone knows about it, but finds it cute and amusing.

Gregor feels embarrassed by it. But finds it cute all the same how unsettled she is around him. But he tries not to embarrass her- not that he can help it much.

She just loves Rex and Sephora’s relationship. She finds them utterly cute and just enjoys it. She’s glad her sister found someone she’s happy with and one who’s as perfect as Rex.

Needless to say she can’t wait until they marry and she can officially become his ‘sister’ because she’s just waiting for that day. And she’s excited for it.

Is very impatient, she does not do well with the word. She is not as calm nor as patient as her sister. She has to get results right away or she gets in a mood.

Can be a silly sour puss if she wants to be.

Is definitely Sephora’s little headache. Star is definitely her number 1, but Cass is her close second, and trouble making little sister.

Adult headcanons for the Great Crater Gang

These are my headcanons for what the Great Crater Gang (MC, Penny, Arven, Nemona, and Koraidon) are like as adults. I played Scarlet as fem MC so I'm thinking of these headcanons in those terms. You can switch things around for Violet and/or male MC as needed. Warning for spoilers!

MC/Juliana

Continues Sada's research into Paradox pokemon

Doesn't work on getting more Paradox pokemon, but studying the ones that exist

Time machine is completely dismantled, and it's existence is hidden

The existence of the Paradox pokemon is known to the public, but their existence is explained as being untouched by outside factors so they didn't darwinistically evolve

Area Zero is still off-limits to most people though

Juliana also studies the Tera crystals

Determining what they can do, where they're from, etc.

(Second question will likely be answered in DLC)

Super careful with this research, don't want a repeat of AI Sada

Married to Arven; they have a kid together, Isabella

She asked for his permission to continue Sada's studies, since it was his mom's studies

But she went to Geeta first, since the Pokemon League seems to be roughly the equivalent of the government

Story and gameplay seperation: I don't think she caught any Paradox pokemon when first exploring the crater (I didnt) and she didn't return after like we can to catch them

So in her early 20s she catches the Paradox pokemon and starts studying them

She has a YouTube channel where she explains facts about the Paradox pokemon

Because of Arven's trauma of Sada's neglect and death, she makes sure to come home at the same time everyday, no matter what
