my new boss is apparently a hugger, bought me my favorite tea, and just spent a half hour in here actually talking to me. i’m so used to the aloofness of my old boss that all this socialisation is almost overwhelming.

The restaurant my parents chose wasn't too flashy but rather comforting and homely, with an Italian theme and matching cuisine. It was bustling with people, but it didn't take long for Wanda and I to find my parents sat at the back waiting for us.
"You gonna be okay?" I asked, glancing at her with a comforting squeeze of the hand.
"I've got you, haven't I?" she asked playfully, her accent thicker than usual as she spoke. And though she was joking, I knew there was truth to her words which sent the butterflies in my stomach into a frenzy.
"You're cute," I said with adoration, appreciating how lovely her eyes looked in the dimly-lit restaurant. "Come on."
Hand in hand, we approached my parents' table and I had hopes that tonight would go well. My parents weren't exactly intimidating – at least anyone I'd ever known hadn't got that impression – but I still worried for Wanda. Unlike her, I couldn't read minds, so I couldn't tell if she was actually looking forward to tonight or if she was just doing it for me.
"Y/N, you're here!" my mum exclaimed with a grin when she spotted me.
"I am," I said with a nervous smile, before motioning to Wanda. "And so is Wanda, my girlfriend."
"Yes, Y/N mentioned you would be coming," my mum said with a friendly smile, looking to Wanda, before motioning to the table. "Please, sit, sit."
I squeezed Wanda's hand gently before pulling out a chair for her. She smiled at me appreciatively before I took a seat beside her, facing my parents.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Wanda," my dad said with a nod. "Y/N mentioned you plenty of times when we'd call to catch up with her."
"You, too," Wanda spoke politely. "Both of you. Y/N told me that you're travelling the world, is that right?"
I leaned on my hand and glanced at Wanda, who shot me a mischievous smile. Quirking a brow, I mentally applauded her. Getting my parents to talk about their travels was an easy way of bonding with them – they would tell every server and customer in this restaurant about their travelling if they could. She'd cracked them instantly.
I'm just that good, milashka (cutie).
Trying not to laugh as her words echoed in my mind because of her powers, I leaned back into my seat and listened in as my parents went into a ramble about their ongoing adventures. This was pretty much how the rest of the evening went, as the four of us dined on expensive wine and delicious pizza. They seemed to be getting along well, with Wanda asking all the right questions and giving them her picture-perfect smile that impressed all the elders. Heck, she was even impressing me.
Naively, I appreciated how well the evening was going until my parents decided to talk to Wanda about her career.
"So, Y/N mentioned you're one of those Revengers," my mum remembered as we ate.
"Avengers," I corrected her, mildly embarrassed.
Wanda chuckled, glancing at me, before nodding. "Yes, I am. For over a year now, I've been working with them."
"Them being Iron Man, Captain America, the Black Widow...?" my dad asked, looking up as if trying to remember the rest, further embarrassing me.
"Those are the ones," Wanda quipped with a nod.
My mum hummed in response as my dad nodded before leaning back in his seat and eyeing Wanda curiously.
"I can't imagine your job is the safest," he began. "You protect people from threats, right? Keep them safe."
Wanda seemed caught off guard, but recovered quickly. "It's got it's... dangers, yes. But I can handle myself. I've got powers and I know how to use them."
"You do," my dad agreed, before his eyes flickered to me briefly. "But Y/N doesn't. She's just a regular human."
I set my fork down on my plate and looked to him calmly. "Dad, what are you saying?"
"No, it's fine," Wanda said reassuringly, resting her hand on my leg under the table. I grabbed it and held it as she continued to speak to my father. "Y/N doesn't have powers, you are correct."
"And dating an Avenger, I can imagine, must put a huge target on her back," he said with concern, and my mum nodded in agreement. "How can we be certain that she is safe?"
"Dad!"
"Your father is right, Y/N," my mum said, giving me a look, before her expression softened as she looked to a startled Wanda. "We're not implying that you're incapable, Wanda. We can clearly see that you care about our daughter. And you're a lovely person. You're pretty much perfect."
Wanda swallowed hard. "But?"
My mother frowned. "But dating you is bound to put our Y/N in danger. She could get hurt just for being involved with you, with your friends. She doesn't have powers to protect herself. And I can't imagine you're around her all the time to keep her safe."
As angry as I was at my parents for saying this stuff – even if they were saying it out of love – memories of the incident flashed to mind. They were right, but it was a risk I'd accepted when dating Wanda. What good was it doing by bringing this up now?
Noticing Wanda's silence, I spoke up instead. "I appreciate your concern, guys, but I'm an adult. I understand the danger I may be put in by being with Wanda. But I love her and I know that she is here for me if anything were to ever happen."
"We know," my father said, giving me a small nod. "We just thought we'd share our opinion anyway. It's been weighing on us for a while is all."
I sighed quietly. I couldn't exactly fault them for that.
"Anyway, never mind that," my mum said, setting down her fork. "Now that we've got that out the way, let's order some dessert, yeah? Our treat."
Nodding, I let my parents get excited as they perused the dessert menus before them. Instead, I looked to the quiet brunette beside me and saw how lost in thought she was, eyes focused on the table and stuck in a daydream.
With the hand that was holding hers, I patted her hand with my thumb to earn her attention. She looked up suddenly, questioning gaze falling to me. I frowned and quirked a brow, wondering if she was okay. She forced a smile my way, squeezing my hand reassuringly, but I didn't believe her. I also couldn't question it right in front of my parents, so I decided to speak with her later.
Dessert went by quickly as Wanda, suddenly, wasn't very talkative. I didn't know if my parents noticed, but I sure did and I felt extremely guilty. If I had known of my parents' concerns, I never would have brought Wanda to meet them tonight.
After the evening came to a close and we all stepped out of the restaurant, I expected to be going home with my parents since we lived together, but they claimed they had more plans together tonight.
"Wow, you guys have more of a social life than we do," I joked when they told me to make my own way home.
Wanda barely smiled and I felt bad.
"We'll be back in a few hours," my mum promised, before pulling me in for a hug. "Tonight was fun. A great final night before we leave tomorrow."
I returned the hug and as I gave my dad one, I heard Wanda thanking my mum for the lovely evening halfheartedly. After saying our final goodbyes, Wanda led me to her car in silence, giving me time to try and put some jumbled thoughts together coherently.
As she had been for the past hour, Wanda was quiet on the drive back to my place. Whenever I would glance in her direction, she'd be chewing on her lip and focusing on driving, though the blank expression on her face made me think that maybe she was distracted. It didn't take a genius to know she was thinking about my parents' words and I suddenly felt guilty for putting that all on her.
"I'm sorry," I blurted halfway through the journey. "I'm sorry for what they said. It wasn't fair of them, I know that. They just... they meant well, Wanda, they really did." I tucked my hands under my thighs, wincing as their words echoed in my mind. "It doesn't change anything though, y'know? We're still us. We're still okay. I don't want you to feel like anything's changed because it hasn't."
I paused, swallowing hard, and glanced her way. She didn't even look my way, still in the same position as she was before I started to speak. Looking back to the road ahead, I let out a disappointed sigh, figuring she wasn't in a talking mood. I didn't blame her, but I hoped she would have understood what I meant.
The remainder of the drive was like this, Wanda deep in thought and me huddled under an imaginary blanket of guilt. When we finally reached my house, she turned the engine off and I waited for her to say something, literally anything. Her fingers drummed against the steering wheel mindlessly and I figured she was out of words for tonight.
"I'll ring you in the morning," I mumbled quietly, opening the car door. "If you want to speak, that is."
Leaving her there, I grabbed my bag and headed to the front door, but stopped when I heard her get out the car, too. Waiting, I turned around and watched as she approached me, eyebrows knitted in thought.
"Please say something," I said with pleading eyes.
She licked her lips, biting her lower lip so hard I'm surprised she didn't draw blood. Finally, she released it and looked to me with apologetic eyes.
"Your parents were right," she said.
I blinked with confusion. "What?"
She nodded, looking down at her shoes momentarily. "They were right, what they said. My life puts you in danger."
"Yeah, I know," I agreed, crossing my arms. "I knew that when I got with you, but that doesn't change anything."
She gave a disbelieving smile. "Seriously? Y/N, that changes everything."
"No, it doesn't," I told her sternly, growing frustrated. "This is the stuff you sacrifice when you love someone."
She sighed, shaking her head and looking away. "You shouldn't have to."
"But I chose to," I said, clenching my jaw.
"Don't you remember what happened last time?" she asked, stepping forward and holding my hand. "The incident?"
"We said we wouldn't talk about that," I reminded her with a low voice.
"But you remember, right? When they took you and I wasn't there? They could've hurt you!"
"Shut up!" I told her, raising my voice. Pulling my hand away from hers and taking a step back, I continued, "Why are you saying that? You came! You helped me!"
"But what if they did something to you before I got there?" she snapped. "What if I hadn't got to you on time?"
The memories came spilling into my mind, escaping the locked box I kept them in. Tears burned the corner of my eyes as I tried to think about anything else.
"You remember how scared you were?" Wanda asked, frowning at me with exasperated eyes. "You couldn't be by yourself for weeks!"
"Why are you doing this?!" I yelled, clenching my fists. "Why are you trying to frighten me?!"
"Because you should be frightened!" she retorted, stepping closer to me. Her dark green eyes were swirling storms of rage as she added, "It could happen again!"
I shoved her away from me, pinching the bridge of my nose with annoyance. Tears slipped from my eyes at the terrifying memory of what happened, what could have gone wrong, but I ignored them as I swallowed down the lump in my throat. Why the hell was she acting like this? Making me so angry at her for no reason?
"It's not even just that," she continued, jaw tensed. "How many times do I get hurt because of work and you get worried?"
"That's because I care about you," I muttered through stinging eyes.
"This will always be my life," she said, a hint of regret in her words as she looked to me. "I can't change it."
"I'm not asking you to!"
"Exactly! You're not! Which means you'll suck it up and stay with me and will live your life in constant concern for my well-being. It's not right."
I opened my mouth to respond because what she was saying was entirely stupid. But my emotions got the better of me and no words came out. Instead, my bottom lip quivered as I sucked up a breath.
"I need time to think," she suddenly said, anger disappearing from her voice and being replaced with an astute calmness.
My gaze snapped her way and through blurry vision, I watched her step back with her hands on her hips.
"So you can what – think about breaking up with me?" I said bitterly, and despite my anger, I didn't expect her to look at me with a softened expression, meaning my words were correct.
"Maybe it's better that way, Y/N," she said gently, eyes meeting mine.
I squeezed my hands together and tried to breathe through the pent-up anger that she'd caused, but the longer she stared at me, waiting for a response, the more I wanted to explode.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I muttered, scrunching my eyebrows together.
She pressed her lips together, looking away, and it only pissed me off more.
"Are you fucking kidding me, Wanda?!" I yelled. "You're quitting on our relationship because, what, you think I'm in danger? Well, news flash, honey, the worst already happened and I'm still here!"
She barely flinched as she avoided my eyes.
"You're a fucking coward!" I said, pointing at her. "If you needed an excuse to end things, you could have just said so!"
Breathing out, I wiped my tears away shakily. I expected her to argue back, to realise she'd made a mistake and regretted her words, but as I waited, I knew she was certain of her decision.
"Fine," I settled, brimming with rage. "Fuck off, Wanda."
Still, nothing.
Turning on my heel, I stormed to my front door and went through my keys with difficulty, hands shaking with anger. I heard Wanda's car door shut from behind me but didn't bother turning around. I clearly didn't need to as I heard the tyres screech against the road and knew she was gone.
Kicking my door with frustration, I found the key and opened up before heading inside and slamming the door behind me. How dare she break up with me because of something that I chose off my own back! She just gave up like we meant nothing to her, not even bothering to talk things out with me! And selfishly, she left me feeling pissed and resenting her more than I ever thought I would.
"What a bitch!" I shouted into the empty house, throwing my keys to the side harshly.
When they clinked against glass, I looked up and saw the vase of flowers Wanda had given me before dinner.
"The first and fucking last," I said dryly, before grabbing ahold of it and throwing it against the wall without thinking.
The glass shattered on impact, leaving a mess of water, flowers and small shards on the wooden floor. I looked at it, the brokenness resembling how my heart felt. As the adrenaline of my actions and previous angry words wore off, all that was left was hurt and pain and oh God, Wanda was gone. She'd left me. She'd given up.
I sank to the floor, pulling my legs up to my chest, and hugged them tightly. Stifling my cries, I dug myself into my knees and felt a pain in my heart. Why didn't she fight for us? Did she not love me enough? Was I not enough?
"You ignored the memes I sent you, I thought you died."
As Natasha pushed right past me and into my house, I blinked with disbelief.
"Sure, come right in," I mumbled sarcastically, closing the front door.
Following after Natasha, I found her making herself at home in the living room, plonking herself on the couch and pulling her feet up comfortably.
"You could have sent an emoji or something," she continued, giving me a knowing look. "They were some good memes."
"Well, forgive me if I wasn't in the mood," I said sourly, joining her on the couch.
Her playful smile faded as she picked up on my words. "How are you doing, sweetie?"
I ran a hand through my hair and leaned my elbow on the back of the couch, getting comfortable. It had been two weeks since Wanda broke up with me and in those two weeks, I hadn't been doing particularly well. I guess you could say I was still in a slump. A horrible, tiresome, angry, sadness-filled slump.
"I'm fine."
She pursed her lips, looking like she wanted to argue, but thankfully, she didn't. I was glad – the last thing I wanted was to prove that I was okay when, really, all I wanted to do was curl in a ball and suffocate under my duvet.
"I'm sorry," she said, resting her hand on mine. "If it's any consolation, I think Wanda made a huge mistake."
"Ah, so she told you," I said with a nod of realisation. I hadn't told Natasha the specifics of why we broke up, but clearly Wanda did. I guess it made sense – they were teammates. If anything, I was surprised Natasha still wanted to speak to me, instead expecting her to side with her friend.
"She did," Natasha answered. "And I think she's an idiot, but that's not my business. I just came here to make sure you were okay."
"Really? I thought you wanted to show me the memes," I said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood with a small smile.
She chuckled, slapping my hand gently. "That, too... but seriously."
My smile faded as I looked down, my finger playing with my trousers distractedly. "I'm not okay, but I'll get there." I began to glare at my trousers, my anger for the witch returning. "I have to be. Because she doesn't want me anymore... fuck her."
"I'd rather not," Natasha mumbled.
Though my anger was present, making me tense like it had been the last few weeks, I couldn't help but smile at Natasha's words. Then laughter bubbled from my lips and for the first time since Wanda left, I felt momentarily happy.
"I'm glad we can still be friends," Natasha said, making me look to her with a smile. "I know that you and Wanda are over now... but I still like hanging out with you."
"Me, too," I said in agreement. "Thanks for coming to check in. You didn't have to."
"Yeah, I did." She nodded before offering me a small, encouraging smile. "You're gonna be okay, y'know."
I wanted to believe her, but despite how pissed I was at Wanda, I still loved her. And I couldn't imagine stopping, though I knew I'd have to if I was to make it through this.
Getting over Wanda was a difficult process. Everything I felt was a mixture of resentment, exhaustion and misery because I missed her. I missed being able to call her when I saw somebody do something stupid in public; I missed kissing her when I hadn't seen her in a long time; I missed hearing her adorable accent first thing when I woke up after she spent the night; I missed her.
Two months followed the breakup and the only time I'd see her was when she'd dodge Anna's apartment upon knowing I was going to take care of her. I guess I was glad in that sense, as it meant I wouldn't have to deal with her awkwardly. But it also made me feel like shit because it meant she didn't care about me at all. Clearly our breakup wasn't affecting her like it did with me.
And it was definitely affecting me.
I was scrolling through Instagram one day when I saw a particular post on my feed from Natasha's account. Yeah, one of the Avengers had a private Instagram account. She gave me her username when she saw me on it one day and I remember being so confused to how she had it.
"I'm an Avenger, not a hermit," was her response, and from that day onwards, we followed each other.
So, I saw a post on her Instagram and it was some goofy photo of her, Tony, Bruce and Wanda. They were posing with exaggerated smiles as Natasha grinned up front; the caption said something about working long days, but I wasn't paying much attention as, naturally, my gaze fell to Wanda.
Just like everyone else, she had a playful, exaggerated smile on her lips like nothing kept her down, but what stood out was the sling around her arm and the cast underneath. It must have happened in a mission or something and it wasn't my business, but I couldn't help but worry. Was she okay? Was she looking after herself? I wanted to text Natasha and ask, but I stopped myself.
She'd broken up with me for this very reason. I wasn't agreeing with it, but for a second, I did see why she'd made her point. It still wasn't fair though. She didn't get to make that choice for me.
We weren't together anymore, I reminded myself. She broke up with me. It had been two months and I needed to let go. If she didn't care about me, why should I waste my time and energy caring about her?
Not letting it get to me anymore, I simply liked the post before continuing my scrolling. Though I knew that deep down, her face was imprinted in my mind and I still worried for her well-being.
The fourth month following our breakup was when I properly saw Wanda again, excluding the times she would duck out of Anna's apartment upon my arrival to care for her. It was also the first time since the breakup that Wanda made the effort to speak to me.
I was sat eating dinner on my day off when I got a call from the hospital nearby, interrupting my meal. The nurse was explaining how Anna had fallen over and hurt her back and was now in a hospital room. She was calling me because she thought I'd like to know since I was her registered nurse and carer. I was glad to get the call, immediately pulling my shoes and coat on and rushing over there to make sure she was okay. She didn't have anyone else apart from Wanda and I – it was no question I had to go.
Though, of course, I didn't really think about the fact that Wanda may be there until I saw her there. I also didn't consider the fact that I was wearing my pyjamas when I stepped in the lift and headed to Anna's floor. Too late now.
After asking the receptionist where Anna's room was, I found Wanda hanging around it outside the door. With only Anna on my mind, I approached her and tried to hide my panic. She spotted me instantly, stopping her pacing and looking to me with tired eyes and a frown on her face.
I didn't care that she looked worried, nor that she was holding up well since we last spoke in anger. I didn't care that she'd dyed her hair a reddish-brown colour, nor that she managed to pull off both that and the whole 'loungewear' look in a place surrounded by blinding white and blue. I didn't care that my heart ached when her green eyes found mine, nor that I missed seeing her so close and not in my dreams for once. I didn't care about any of it. Or, at least, I tried to tell myself that.
"What happened?" I cut straight to the point, stopping in front of her. "Is Anna okay?"
Wanda nodded instantly. "She's fine. She tripped over her dining room chair and hurt her back. The doctors just checked her out and said it's nothing too serious, but she won't be able to walk for a while."
I pressed my lips together, feeling the panic wear off at the sound of good news. Anna had always been more than just a patient to me and the last thing I wanted was to hear she'd hurt herself badly.
"Can I see her?" I asked Wanda, quirking a brow.
"Yeah, of course," Wanda said, before looking away awkwardly. "I was just waiting out here for you. The nurse said you were coming."
I chose to say nothing as I walked past her and into Anna's room, seeing the older woman laying on a hospital bed and staring at the ceiling. When she noticed my presence, she smiled at me and motioned for me to join her side.
"It's so good to see you, milaya (sweetie)," she said happily, as I stopped by her side, "but you didn't have to come! I'm not dying."
I heard Wanda enter the room behind me, but she took a seat on the chairs opposite the bed. Ignoring her, I smiled down at Anna and grabbed her hand.
"Don't say that," I told her gently. "Of course I'm here. You're my number one priority. I had to make sure you were okay!"
Anna waved her hand in typical Anna fashion. "I've suffered worse. I'm absolutely fine."
I knew it was best not to question her, so I didn't.
"I'm glad you're both here," she said, looking between Wanda and I, making me swallow awkwardly.
Since breaking up, I hadn't mentioned it to Anna, but she wasn't stupid and she'd clearly noticed that we weren't spending time together anymore. I didn't know if Wanda had told her, but if she had, Anna never mentioned anything. Like now, she simply looked between us both with a grateful smile, unaware of how awkward we felt.
Thankfully, the awkward silence was interrupted when a doctor walked in the room. After introducing herself, I asked if I could speak to her outside about Anna and she happily obliged. She told me about Anna's condition and how it would affect the way I cared for her, especially regarding her new medication, and I asked anything and everything to make sure she was truly okay. After being reassured that she was, I thanked the doctor and returned to Anna's room, only to find Wanda and Anna in a heated a argument.
I couldn't tell what had got them so fussy as they were bickering in Russian, sentences too fast for me to comprehend with my limited knowledge of the language. It got to a point where Anna began slapping Wanda on the arm, looking angrier than ever, so I stepped between them and pulled Wanda away.
"What the hell is going on here?" I interrupted, holding Anna's slapping hand down to the bed and raising a hand to keep Wanda at bay. I looked between them, seeing the frustration in both their expressions, and asked questioningly, "Well?"
Wanda said nothing, eyes avoiding mine as usual, so I looked down to Anna who was glancing between us before spouting off into another ramble in Russian, trying to grab Wanda so she could yell at her directly. To my annoyance, Wanda tried to push past me, yelling back, and I was unfortunately caught in the middle as I attempted to keep them from ripping each other's throats out.
Thankfully, their bickering came to a halt when an unknown voice called into the room: "What is going on in here?"
I looked to the door, following the mystery voice, and saw a young woman, maybe in her thirties, standing in the doorway and looking between the three of us with confusion. I had no idea who she was, though she seemed familiar. Judging from the confusion Wanda had, she didn't seem to know either.
"Sasha," Anna breathed out with surprise, and then I realised. That was Anna's granddaughter. "What are you doing here?"

'All my life, I've just wanted to make things easier for them.'

Day/Prompt: Day 26 - Soulmate
Ship: Prinxiety, brief logicality, creativitwins
Word count: 3k (I'm so sorry I got carried away)
Cw: swearing / brief murder mention / implied death / crying / nightmares(?) / anxiety mention / caps / claustrophobia(?)
A/N: the prompt is your dreams are your soulmate's memories. The title is from the song "Sick of losing soulmates" by dodie. I wrote the first 1/4 of this a few days ago and the rest in one sitting and I couldn't care less about proofreading it so Im so sorry if there are any mistakes ;-;
@tsshipmonth2020
I see a girl in the distance. She has her back turned. Long chocolate-colored hair tied in a low messy bun. My hand is reaching out to her. I feel this sudden longing to be held by this woman. Craving her caring and loving words. Telling me that everything is going to be alright.
Wait. Why is she getting farther away?
She looks back at me with a sad smile. Everything gets dark. I let my eyes stray from her to look around. When was I in a hospital corridor?
"I'm sorry, Pumpkin. You're gonna have to continue our adventure without me. But, fear not, Little one. I'll always be there by you. You just gotta learn to know where I am,"
She caresses my cheek, giving me the warmest smile I have ever received.
She's gone, suddenly. I touch my cheek, still feeling the ghost of her warm touch. Along with… something wet? Am- Am I crying?
"Roman!"
I don't move. I feel stuck. But, also free, somehow. Just unsure of what to do, I guess?
"Roman! Wake up. You idiot!
"Roman!
"Oh, thank all things unholy! I thought someone was in our room, trying to murder us! You were crying, and- and whispering stuff! And it's creeping me the fuck out! And I'm not easily creeped out, you know that" Remus exclaimed as he sat on Roman's chest, grabbing his twin’s shoulders.
"Man, you're soulmate must have some twisted memories," He continued, getting off of Roman and returning to his own bed across the room.
'Yeah. Twisted…' Roman thought.
~*~*~
"You okay there, Sweetie?" Roman heard from where his head was buried on the kitchen counter. "Yeah... Just thinking about my soulmate again," he admitted.
"Another bad dream?" His mom inquired as she sat next to Roman, patting his back. "It's not just that. It's about the move. Like, we're never really sure which of our memories they see, right? But, they've seen all my memories from this place. Like, they know where I've been my entire life…" he trailed off.
"I'm just not sure how they would feel seeing a whole new different place… They don't seem to be in a place to experience a big change right now. All my life, I've just wanted to make things easier for them. And, yeah, my dreams don't really change that much. But, I make an effort, y'know?" Roman looked up at his mom to seek at least some kind of reassurance.
"I understand what you mean, and I think that what you're doing is great. And I know that you're gonna be the bestest thing that's ever gonna happen to them. But, I'm really sorry. We don't really have any choice with this move. I know your soulmate is in a dark place right now, but you can't always do everything for them. You're also your own person," His mom hugged him.
Roman felt like he was hopeless in this situation. And, he was always hoping for the best. For his soulmate or otherwise. Maybe his mom was right about putting himself first sometimes.
~*~*~
Virgil was in his first period when someone he didn't expect to walk into his classroom… walks into his classroom… They were wearing an army green shirt, a denim jacket with neon green highlights and spikes at the bottom, ripped jeans, and platform boots with more spikes and vulgar words written on them. To say that this man was familiar was an understatement. He KNEW this man's entire life THROUGH his dreams.
Virgil felt like he was trespassing someone's life. Like, he wasn't supposed to know the man. And that, they shouldn't be in any way related. Especially to their sibling.
He wasn't really ecstatic about meeting his soulmate. IN SCHOOL NO LESS. It wasn't really an ideal 'meet-your-soulmate' place for someone like Virgil.
"Alright, students, I'm sure you've all noticed that we have a new student right here. Now, why don't you go and introduce yourself, Mister," their teacher said to the denim jacket guy.
"Umm. Sup? I'm Remus Duke Kingsley. Nice to meet you all. And, if you see a guy that looks like me but without the mustache and wears red all the time, he’s always loud, you can’t miss him. That's my twin brother, Roman. The boring one," Remus says, yawning by the end of his introduction.
'HOLY FUCK, TWINS?!' Virgil thought. Fortunately(or unfortunately, depending on which part of Virgil's brain you're asking), Remus already gave him a vague description of who to look out for.
~*~*~
Virgil continues his day and falls into his daily routine, which mostly includes attempting to avoid being perceived by anyone. It usually succeeds if you exclude his friend, Patton, from ‘anyone.’ He only hopes that his soulmate also sees Patton in their dreams cuz, to be honest, Patton is the ray of sunshine everyone needs. Yeah, he was also friends with Logan, but he’s more like a moon if you ask him.
Virgil goes into the cafeteria and sits at their usual table, his back facing the entire cafeteria. He takes out a paper bag from his bag and grabs the sandwich he bought earlier, not waiting for his friends.
A few moments pass before Logan and Patton reach his table. “Hey, kiddo! You alright?” Patton says as he sits down. Virgil just gives them a nod and continues to eat. “I heard this morning that there were new students,” Logan inquires before Patton interrupts “Oh yeah! They’re twins! I have first period with one of them. He’s really nice. Oh! Hey! Roman! Over here!” Patton shouts and waves his arm toward a student that just entered the cafeteria. “Hope you guys don’t mind that I invited him over to sit with us,” He continues and flashes both Virgil and Logan a smile no one could say no to.
“Hey, Patton.” The guy says to Patton. “Hope you guys don’t mind me crashing your table. I’m Roman by the way,” Roman says to the other two. “Pleasure to meet you, Roman. I’m Logan. And, no, we wouldn’t mind at all,” Logan answered him back. Roman looked over to Virgil who just nodded and said his name. Roman then proceeded to sit next to Virgil but not paying him any mind.
And, though Virgil seemed to be calm about the situation, his mind is currently in flames having his anxiety and his gay panic fight over each other. Virgil is currently waiting for who would win, that's why he seems so calm on the outside. After finishing his sandwich, he was trying to think of something he could do to keep himself from leaving and be noticed. He looked over to Logan, attentively listening to Patton talking about the dog he saw this morning. Roman was silently eating his lunch, also listening to Patton, but looking around the cafeteria every once in a while.
It seems that Virgil’s anxiety won the fight because he decided that he doesn’t want to stick around with his friends and his apparent soulmate without doing anything. So, he stands up and excuses himself from the group. "Hey! Wait!" Roman calls after him. Virgil stops a few feet from the table to look back at Roman who was already jogging towards him.
"Virgil, right?" He assures.
Virgil nods. "Ok, there’s just something I wanna ask you. Are those two soulmates?" Roman throws his thumb back, pointing at the two left at the table. "Cuz, as much as how adorable they look together, I kinda don't want to be stuck as a third wheel," he continues.
"Oh. Yeah, those two are soulmates. Sometimes, I wonder if they ever do notice me every time I leave the table," Virgil elaborates, looking back at his friends with a slight smile.
"Umm. Class doesn't start for a few more minutes. I was wondering if I could join you for a while? Wherever you were going…" Roman trailed off, realizing he didn't know where the shorter male was headed.
"Uhh. Yeah, sure. I was just headed to the courtyard to pass the time,"
'Shit. Virgil, why are you doing this?! Why did you agree?! You have anxiety!' Virgil mentally scolded himself.
"Ok. Cool. I'll just go get my stuff," Roman flashed Virgil a smile before heading back to the table.
'Fuck. I am so screwed,' Virgil thought.
~*~*~
"So, what's the deal with those two? I mean, how did they deal with the soulmates thing?" Roman finally spoke a few moments after they found a bench to settle on. "Uhh, well. Logan is my childhood friend and the first day we started high school here, they both had a dream of roll call the other had that day, I guess? They both heard each other's name and boom. You got your glasses gays," Virgil discussed, reminiscing the events that happened that day.
Roman let out a chuckle at Virgil's last words, causing the other's heart to skip a beat. They remain silent for a while, watching the other students passing by.
"What about you?" Roman spoke up.
"What about me?" Virgil glances back.
"I mean, what about you? Have you met your soulmate? Do you know who they are? You just seem like an interesting individual to me, having to stick around knowing you're third-wheeling all the time yet valuing your time with them and your time with yourself all the same. Well, either that or I'm just embarrassed that I think you're uncomfortable with me here…" Roman rambled, rubbing the back of his neck, embarrassed.
Virgil chuckled, "Nah. I just get anxious when meeting new people. Plus, I think you're a pretty nice guy." They smiled at each other, Virgil feeling his face heat up, and looks away immediately. "And, about the soulmate thing. I think I have a clue of who they might be, I just…" he trailed off.
"What's holding you back?" Roman muttered, lowering his head, attempting to catch the other's eye. "I… I just think that my memories aren't that… for them. They're just this amazing and joyful person… I just don't think they deserve to see my bland memories every night,"
The pair fell silent, Roman feeling sympathy for the other. Virgil felt Roman shift in his seat before speaking up, "I don't think anyone's memories are ever bland."
Virgil looks up at Roman who has a far-off look with a slight smile on his lips. "I think that our dreams are what shows us what we're missing in life. What our soulmate has that we need and what we have that they need. You know, what makes you both feel complete when you're with each other," Roman smiled.
Virgil pondered on the other's statement for a while. "Is that... Is that how you feel when you're with your soulmate?" He said, being careful with his words. Roman sighed but remained smiling, "I haven't met them yet. But, what you said earlier reminded me of them. I always think they're a little different. My moms said that dreams are supposed to show my soulmate's memories. But, no one is ever sure which ones we see. Well, my dreams always have one thing in common… There's darkness every time…" Roman trailed off, looking more sad as he continued.
"Sometimes, they walk out of their house and, suddenly, everything goes dark and I see pairs of eyes staring at me as I walk. Or sometimes, they lie in bed and, suddenly, it's dark again and I'm stuck inside a box too small for me. But, there’s always this one dream that always repeats itself. Though, I'm not sure my soulmate's gonna be comfortable with me sharing," Roman finally snaps out of his trance and looks up at Virgil, looking embarrassed.
At this point, Virgil is now entirely sure that the person in front of him is his soulmate. He feels tears cloud his eyes so he looks away to play off wiping them away before looking back at Roman with pity in his expression. This is exactly what Virgil was afraid of, having his soulmate also experience the darkness that clouds him every day he wakes up.
"Wow… They- I- I don't know what to say… What are you gonna do when you meet them?" Virgil glances at Roman, pity still in his eyes. Roman let out a sigh but smiled, "I'm gonna give them the biggest hug they've ever received and reassure them that I'm always gonna be with them and that they'll never have to feel alone all the time ever again." Roman looked at Virgil with a smile. But, before he could notice the tear that fell from the other's eye, a loud shrill of their school bell rang throughout the courtyard, signaling the start of their next class.
"Talk about first impressions," Roman said with a chuckle, standing up. "Well, see you around, Virgil. I got a few more 'Hi, I'm Roman' to do," he continued, leaving Virgil on the bench.
~*~*~
I hear my converse squeak as I walk through the hallway. There are people around me, but they're all just silhouettes of the same familiar darkness. I'm walking to what seems to be the cafeteria. I sit down and grab my lunch from my bag. A few minutes pass, two figures sit in front of me. There's something familiar about them despite being two black silhouettes.
"Hey, kiddo! You alright?"
Patton?
"I heard there were new students," Logan?
Wait. Am I…
"Oh yeah! They're twins!"
Oh.
"I have first period with one of them. He's really nice. Oh! Hey! Roman! Over here!"
Before I could look over to… me…
Darkness. Again.
I hear muffled voices. Too muffled to be recognized.
I stay in darkness for what felt like hours before I get surrounded by light.
Too bright.
There's a silhouette in front of me. It doesn't have any facial features but I can feel it stare at me. Slowly, the light around me doesn't feel too bright anymore. It feels… warm and comforting. Similar to the feeling I have in my chest, along with a squeezing feeling. I feel tears cloud my eyes, but I feel happy, somehow?
I feel someone embrace me. I look up to see the silhouette. Its arms around me, like it's protecting me. I feel secure. I feel loved.
I hug back, breaking down in its arms.
"You don't have to be alone anymore"
I hear my own voice. I break down sobbing, seeking more of the silhouette's warmth.
I stopped sobbing after a while but remained in the silhouette's arms for what felt like hours.
"You gotta wake him up!" I heard a distant voice say in a hushed tone.
"No, he hasn't slept like this since who knows when… Something must've happened yesterday..."
I feel myself slowly drifting from where I was standing.
"We can just tell the school he's sick"
"On the second day?"
I feel someone caress my cheek.
"You can stay too if you want"
"Hey, sweetie," Roman opens his eyes to his mom in front of him.
"What's going on? Why are you all in our room?" Roman asks as he sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He eyes Remus standing in front of their mama. Their mom is sitting on the edge of Roman's bed, facing him.
"Well, sweetie. You see, you just had a full night's sleep," their mom explained.
"You looked so peaceful too," their mama added with a smile. Roman stopped to let the events of his dream last night come back to him.
"Roman, is everything ok?" Their mama walked over to him, tucking a few strands of his hair behind his ear. "Yeah… Yeah, I'm okay!" He flashed a smile to his moms, meaning what he said.
~*~*~
Roman hadn't been able to sit still ever since he got to school. 'Late', he should add. Apparently, he overslept while Remus and their moms decide whether to wake him up or not.
When they got to school in the middle of first period, they were excused because their moms were there to explain. With a slightly bent truth, of course.
Roman had to wait three(and a half) classes to talk to Virgil. They didn't have any classes together, to which Roman was bummed to find out. When the bell rang, signaling their lunch break, Roman hurriedly headed to the cafeteria. When he got there, he spotted Virgil just about to sit down at their usual table.
"Uhh. Virgil? Can I talk to you for a sec?" Roman felt awkward, to say the least.
"Uhm. Sure," Virgil replied, standing up. Roman led them under a tree in the courtyard, away from other students. They stayed silent for a while before Virgil spoke up, "So… what'd you wanted to talk about?"
Roman just stared at Virgil for a few moments, examining him, before enveloping him in a tight hug. Virgil stood frozen for a while, surprised at the gesture. He slowly placed his hands on Roman's back, still confused at the sudden affection.
"You're not alone anymore, Pumpkin," Roman said in a gentle voice, cradling the other's head. Virgil froze when he heard the nickname. His expression then softens and hugs Roman tighter, burying his face on the taller male’s shoulder.
"How did you find out?" Roman heard, slightly muffled by his jacket. "Had a dream about yesterday," Roman simply stated, not elaborating more. "What about you? You said you had a clue. Oh! That rhymed,"
They both laughed.
"I have first period with Remus and I recognized him right away," Virgil replied, his face still buried on Roman's shoulder. "Oh, I'm so sorry you have to deal with him," Roman chuckled.
"No, I'm sorry you had to deal with him your entire life,"
"Well, we're not alone anymore now, are we? Roman asked with a serious tone. Virgil parted a few inches from Roman, still holding on to him. He smiled as he looked up at Roman, "No, we're not."
This might be the last one I'll do for AU august but I'm also deciding if I should go back to the prompts I missed when I was sick hmm
I wish I included Remus more in this but it was already 3k words and thats the longest I've ever written so maybe its for the best XD

Positive- Rafe Cameron
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Rafe start your own family :)
Word count: 1,053
Warnings: mentions of vomit but aside from that just pure fluff!
You woke up next to your handsome husband. Husband. You never thought of the day you would be able to say Rafe Cameron was your husband. You peacefully rested your right hand on the side of his face, taking in every little detail of his sleeping face.
How his mouth slightly parted open, his lips a little chapped. Sometimes he would twitch a little in his sleep depending on what kind of dream he was having. At times he unknowingly smiles when you would snuggle into his chest. He would always have an arm around you, afraid to let go. Your legs would be intertwined so if one of you had to get up, the other would immediately feel cold.
You suddenly felt the dinner from last night quickly rise up in your throat. You threw the bed sheet off of your body and ran into the bathroom. Rafe immediately sat up at the sound of his wife throwing up into the toilet. He ran into the bathroom and held your hair back, sitting on his knees.
He rubbed a gentle hand on your back as you finished your business. You leaned your head against your arm, waiting to see if there was anything else coming up. "You okay, love?" Rafe asked as he grabbed some toilet paper to wipe around your mouth. This was the 4th time in a week where you had woken up vomiting. You also took notice that your period was a week late.
Rafe noticed the symptoms you were having and quickly figured it out. While you were at work, Rafe went out to the pharmacy and bought you three pregnancy tests. Three just in case one says positive and one says negative. He opened the cabinet door underneath the sink and pulled out the boxes. He gave you the box, your face read nothing but fear.
"It'll be okay. I'll be right outside the door." He pressed a soft kiss to your temple as you nodded. You read the directions and proceed to do the steps you needed to take. You used all three tests at once just to see how that would work. You waited 5 minutes for the results, as you stared painfully at the sticks, time felt like hours.
After you looked at the clock, you picked up the test. Positive. You looked at the next two tests, they said the exact same thing, positive. You took a deep breath as a grin found its way to your face. You grabbed the tests and walked out of the bathroom. Rafe's head snapped up at the sound of the bathroom door opening.
"All the same. Positive." You said, Rafe gasped as a reaction. His face broke out into a smile as he jumped up off the bed. He embraced you in his arms, picking you up and spinning you both around. He placed you down before holding your hands in his. "I'm gonna be a dad? Oh my God! I'm gonna be a dad!"  He yelled, kissing all around your face.
__________________________
9 months later
You laid in a hospital bed, your stomach the size of a full blown watermelon. The upcoming parents had found out your baby was going to be a boy. You two spent nights trying to come up with a name and what you would do to be good parents.
Rafe sat in an uncomfortable chair next to his wife, holding your hand as you attempted to push as hard as you could. The doctor had your legs propped up, your body already felt weak at the amount of changes it went through.
You screamed out in pain as you squeezed Rafe's hand tightly. You were in labour for 11 hours, the baby finally coming out. It started with the head as your face contorted back and forth from pain to relief with every inch of the baby that came out.
"It's okay, beautiful. You got this you're almost there. He's almost here." Rafe encouraged you as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. "One more push!" The doctor said. You gave one final strong push as the sound of cries made the new parents smile. You exhaled loudly, resting your head against Rafe's hand. The doctor handed the Camerons a pair of scissors. Each of you looped a finger into the tool and cut the umbilical cord.
"Alright let's clean this guy up." The doctor said to the nurse as Rafe ran his fingers through his wife's hair, grabbing a paper towel to blot the sweat off of your face and chest. "You fucking did it hun. We're parents." Rafe breathed out.
"And here is your healthy baby boy." A nurse said with your baby wrapped in a baby blanket. You held the baby in your arms as you broke down crying. "Oh my god." You sobbed looking down at the tiny human in your arms. You moved over a bit so Rafe could sit next to you. You rested your head on his chest as he laid his cheek on your head.
Your baby boy looked up at you as if he was confused. Rafe rubbed the top of your baby's head, the fuzz tickling his hand. "We made this." Rafe exhaled in disbelief, he began to play with the baby's hand, his tiny fingers wrapping around Rafe's index finger. Tears began to stroll down his face, he had never been so happy in his life.
"Have you decided on a name for him yet?" The parents looked at each other. "Luke Cameron." You two stayed in the hospital bed, holding your newborn son. "You were just welcomed to the world and I already love you with all my heart." Rafe mumbled as Luke continued to hold onto Rafe's finger while gazing up at you.
"We did this. Oh my god, I'm a mom." You sniffled, pressing a gentle kiss to Lukes head. "I'm proud of us. And we're gonna raise him to be the best kind of person. I'm gonna teach him about sports of course, and we can make little bedtime stories about our adventures and I can't wait to buy him little footie pajamas and little baby hats and beanies." Rafe rambled as he kissed the baby's fingers.
"Here's to our new adventure."

Reunion (13xOC)
**Please let me know what you think**
Note: I've only ever written stuff for Doctor Who on fanfiction net but it's never been one-shots and I've only done like a tiny chapter for 13. So, hopefully this comes out okay and whoever reads this likes it. I completely adore 13 and would follow her in a heartbeat.
Summary: Set after right "Ghost Monument", having already mourned the possibility of losing her wife (y/n), 13 is immensely relieved to find y/n safe in the Tardis.
Includes fluff because I love me some fluffy stories. Also, Y/S means "your sexuality". The reader for me is written as pan, but you don't have to read it that way.
Tumblr media
Everything was extremely cold. Your face, your limbs, your clothes, absolutely everything was beyond freezing. That's why the feeling of two warm hands on both sides of your face had you jolting awake.
Your mind woke up faster than your eyes. Sluggish thoughts plagued you as you couldn't even remember falling asleep, where you were, or why you were so damn cold. Sluggish actions followed suit with you cracking your eyes open to be face to face with one of the loveliest ladies you'd ever seen.
Concern and relief was apparent in her expression and you wondered what happened to you that warranted that look, but then you looked into her eyes. Her eyes were a gorgeous hazel that you liked instantly, but oh her eyes! So old and endless- timeless, and then you knew.
"Doctor?" You managed to cough out. Your throat felt completely dry and scratchy after a possible long time of no use. She gave small smile and nodded and in an instant you felt overwhelmed by the Doctor in a way you hadn't felt since your wedding. You managed to give her a small smile back after coughing once more. "What the heck happened love?"
A tenseness that was in the Doctor's shoulds left and she grinned. "Well, it appear the Tardis had in a sort of frozen stasis. Y/N, you must be absolutely freezing!" She said, rubbing her thumbs against your cheeks before standing up to go grab you some water. She knelt back in front of you as sat up a bit to drink the water. You smiled at her after finishing the water, taking in her enthusiastic energy and a newfound affection that differed slightly from her previous regeneration with ease.
A teasing frown graced your face as you took in her words. "The Tardis froze me basically, without asking me?"
"She wanted to keep you safe as I, er, regenerated," her smile turned sheepish and she glanced down at herself.
You grabbed one of her hands and held it, a warmth flooding your stomach and veins- only a reaction the Doctor was able to give you. "I'm only teasing. I don't mind it. Well, I'd like a bit of warning next time," you said, looking pointedly at the ceiling knowing the Tardis could hear you. The Doctor squeezed your hand and you looked back to her and smiled. "Are you okay though? I was there the last few regenerations and I know it's not an easy process."
She started nodding enthusiastically. "Oh yeah I'm great! My friends helped take care of me- there here by the way! On board," she paused and gestured toward the door of the room you were in and that's when it hit you.
"You knew you were going to regenerate right then! I mean we both knew it was coming, but I was going to make you tea! I can't believe the Tarid froze me in the kitchen!" You ranted a little, finally sitting up all the way on the tile floor, groaning as your body complained at the movement.
The Doctor gently helped you sit up, wearing a worried expression. "Are you okay? You're not in pain are you? Maybe we should take a trip to the med bay. I don't even know how long you've been frozen-"
"-Doc-"
"And then I completely missed the location of where the Tardis was. Okay, so I didn't really miss it. You were both just misplaced and I had to go find you. And then I didn't know if you even survived th crash!-"
"Doctor!" You exclaimed, grabbing her face and planting a soft kiss to her forehead. She stopped her worried rambling and relaxed even further as she sat next to you. "I'm okay, just sore and all my joints are stiff."
"So, you're okay?" She asked and before you could say yes, she added "with me?"
Your brow furrowed in confusion before you understood. "Doctor, of course I am."
She bumped shoulders with you and you knew she was happy, but still concerned. "So, you're a," you glanced at her, hesitating, and she stared right back, slight worry in her beautiful eyes and you smirked. "Blonde, again. I saw a picture of when you were blonde before and I must say, it's quite nice. Oh, and you're completely gorgeous again, if you were wondering."
She gave you a look. "Y/N, I'm serious."
"So am I. If you're really concerned, don't be. I've told you before that I'm (y/s). You should remember my first girlfriend, the one I had before we started dating. Unless, ya know, you're just that old," you teased and she scrunched up her nose while rolling her eyes.
"Of course I remember!" She said, but paused as a crease appeared between her brows. "What was her name again?"
"Beats me, that was a long time ago and I've ever really only been in love with one person. This is just another chapter in our lives. I absolutely adore you and you being a woman now isn't going to change that." You told her, meaning every word. You knew you loved her before, when she was a man, and you know with one hundred percent certainty that you love her now.
Her grin slowly came back and she clapped her hands before springing up. She helped you stand and you laughed at her energetic movements. While standing you got to take a better look at your wife. She was shorter, closer to your height now and her blonde hair framed her face. She was beautiful and cute and you knew in your core you were going to adore every piece of her, every single part of her and you looked forward to it.
The Doctor looped her arm through yours and was about to lead you out of the kitchen when three people walked hesitantly inside. You figured these were the friends who helped your wife and you smiled in greeting.
"Ryan! Yaz! Graham! I found my wife!" The doctor explained while gesturing to you excitedly in an almost boisterous manner. The young man, Ryan, looked between the two of us nodding. "We're not interrupting, are we? Yaz mentioned that you'd been gone awhile and we just thought it'd be cool to explore a bit to find you."
"Actually," the Doctor started and you interrupted, giving her a look.
"She had been telling me that she had some friends that were on board! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Y/N," you started and released the Doctor's arm to go hug them individually. The Doctor took your hand when you were done and grinned at them. "Thank you for taking care of my wife. It's always a relief when she has friends as she can tend to be quite reckless."
Yaz laughed and Graham agreed. You looked closer at them and noticed how worn out they looked and thought of how they must be hungry crossed your mind, making you realize you were hungry as well.
"Well! You three must be famished. Or tired! Or both!"
Yaz nodded, Ryan said he was "proper hungry," and Graham agreed. "Okay, well since I am hungry as well, how about I make something? I'm thinking muffins and tea. How's that sound?"
"You don't have to," Yaz started and you smiled.
"Nonsense! I love baking and well, sometimes we forget to properly feed our friends on adventures," you looked at the Doctor who gave her friends a sheepish grin. They all smiled at settled at the table, Yaz offering to help you bake while Ryan and Graham offered to start the tea and set the table.
The Doctor followed you while you went to get ingredients. "Could we make blueberry? With chocolate chips? And possibly bananas?" She whisper asked by your shoulder and you hummed in response.
"Do you want all those inside the muffins? Do you want some as toppings? Do you want the bananas in the batter, like mashed in? Will your friends like the combo?"
She pursed her lips while grabbing the blueberries out of the fridge. "Maybe just blueberries and chocolate chips inside." She said and you nodded, asking Yaz to grab the dry ingredients along with the chocolate chips while you grabbed the mixing bowl and muffin tins. You glanced at the Doctor who had grabbed the blueberries, the milk, eggs, and she also took out strawberries and whipped cream and you smirked at her. "Feeling peckish?"
She grinned right back with her arms full before setting all of it on the counter. "Strawberries sounded good and I know you like them with whipped cream. She took out, dabbed it in the whipped cream and fed it to you while you started measuring and stirring the muffin mix. You grinned in thanks and kissed her on the cheek. She settled next you, eating strawberries and watching you.
"It's been a while since we've had an almost family-like atmosphere," you started, sending at glance at the trio of friends who now sat at the table talking and laughing over tea, Yaz having joined them after telling her you could handle the rest. The Doctor hummed and popped another strawberry in her mouth. "You should invite them to stay, if you haven't already."
She swallowed and looked down. "I don't know. It's dangerous and they're good people. Graham already lost his wife, who was Ryan's Nan."
A sadness gripped your heart as you felt for Ryan and Graham. You paused, thinking of how to phrase your next words right. "Even more reason I suppose, to ask them I mean. It could give them more space and time to heal. Just explain what comes with traveling with us- give them option."
The Doctor nodded, popping in another strawberry and hugging you from behind. "I will, just not right now. We all need time."
You grinned, loving the embrace as you finished up mixing the muffin batter which was now filled with blueberries and chocolate chips. "Speaking of needing time, we're going to have to get used to this."
You felt the Doctor stiffen a little while she hugged you. "What do you mean?"
Turning to face her a little more, both of your noses almost touched. "Well, you're so much closer to my height now, I won't have to pull you down to my level anymore," you whispered. You could feel her grip tighten around you and you turned to face her even more, loving the reaction you were getting.
Looking at her outfit, you tugged a bit at one of her suspenders. "Hmm, suspenders again?" You asked before looking into her eyes. Her cheeks was slightly red, but she was smiling with her mouth and eyes.
"Yeah, what do you think?" She asked and you grinned even wider, tugging a bit again at the one strap you were holding.
"I like it," you said and before either of you got any ideas in the presence of the Doctor's friends, you kissed her softly and turned back toward the muffins.
You pulled out of her embrace to put the muffins in the oven. Once they were in and a timer was set, you turned back to a very red Doctor and grabbed her hand. "Come on, I'm sure your friends made a lovely pot of tea and I want to get to know them more."
So, the both of you joined Ryan, Yaz, and Graham at the table and started sharing stories and drinking tea while you waited for the muffins. The atmosphere was light and happy and you knew that you and the Doctor were going to enjoy every second with your wife and her friends.

Edge Of Space: Chapter 1 Ethan
Today started off like any other day, despite the fact that three of us might never see Earth again. I shake my head, trying to stay awake after a long night listening to my roommate snore, as the commander rambles on about deep space safety and navigation. He clears his throat, "I know that the majority of you are nervous, but this is what you've been training to do for five years," he pauses to clear his throat and pick up a sheet of paper, "today three of you will go out in search of a new planet that's suitable for human life, as you know, Earth's climate is becoming unstable..." I tune out the rest of his speech as I look around the room at the three sections of students, divided by our fields of study. "...on that note, it's time to announce the brave team of adventurers, the pilot will be Lea Walker, engineer is Lilith Clark, and communication specialist is Ethan Gibson." My eyes widen in surprise as I stand up, looking over at the other two, Lea with his shoulder length black hair tied into a short ponytail, and Lilith, whose light brown hair is thrown into a lazily styled bun. She smiles over at me, obviously overjoyed to be chosen for the mission, I smile back, curious about the two people I'll be spending the next three years with, that is if the mission actually goes well, if not, we'll probably spend the rest of our lives together adrift in space. "Once the three of you are ready, we'll meet in the command room and I'll give you more detailed instructions there, as for the rest of you, you'll be on small-scale missions, the team's are posted in the mess hall," the commander barks before turning and leaving the room.
About an hour later I'm standing in the command room, sweating in the heavy spacesuit and holding my helmet under my arm. Glacing around I see Lilith enter the room, she smiles and walks other, "you're Ethan, right? I'm Lilith, but just call me Lilly," she says, offering a hand. I take it, "yea, nice to meet you, any idea where the commander is? I though he'd already be here," I ask and she sighs, "you don't have to be so formal, we're going to be together for a long time and I saw the commander earlier, he was with Lea and he didn't look too happy," she shrugs. I arch an eyebrow, "what were they talking about?" I ask, curious, "I dunno, I wasn't close enough to hear, but Lea wasn't wearing a uniform or suit and he was carrying a duffle bag," she says quietly. I try to think of something to say to change the subject when a door opens and both Lea and the commander enter the room, neither looking happy. The commander stands in front of us as Lea stands next to me, looking at the floor angrily, "the three of you have already been assigned to the position that you're best suited for," he says, "however, in order for this mission to be a success, you need to work as a team," he clears his throat, "Once you lunch and get past the atmosphere, fly to the edge of the solar system, from there you'll enter in the coordinates given to you and enter into a wormhole. By the time you come out, its unknown how much time may have passed here on Earth, but we won't be able to directly contact you. The data you collect will be sent back here, and we'll analyze it, when you find a suitable planet with an atmosphere simular to Earth's with some sort of food and water supply, plant one of the sensors located on the left side of your ship," he explains, "now go get strapped in." I nod and turn to follow Lilly out of the room.
Once inside the ship I sit down in the seat at the back of the ship, next to the monitors and radio system, Lilly finishes strapping herself in next to the engine hatch and Lea sighs as he untwists some of the strapped before buckling them, "everyone finished?" He asks without turning around. " Yea, I'll send command the all clear," I say and pick up the radio mic, "this is mission one-two-eight, we are ready for launch," I say. "You are clear," a voice comes over the radio and a count down starts on the main monitor with a robotic voice reading off the numbers. By the time it gets down to one the sounds of the main engine is loud enough to drown out the voice. Lea visibly tenses as we launch, and I arch an eyebrow, a pilot should be used to the feeling of launching and know that it's not really enough to even warrant needing to be strapped down. "Lea, are you alright?" Lilly asks loud enough to be heard over the roar of the engine, sounding concerned, he nods, "I'll be find, just go ahead and put on your helmets," he says, putting his on. Pulling mine on and snapping the clasps down I watch him, wondering why he might of been trying to run away earlier and if it has anything to do with how he's acting now. "We've just left Earth's atmosphere, so it'll be smooth sailing for awhile," Lilly says excitedly when the noise finally dies down. Bitting my lip I think of my family and why I decided to agree with training for something like this in the first place. "How long until we get to the edge of the solar system?" I ask and Lea looks back at me, "I'd say about three or four days, give or take, it depends on what the limit is on this thing," he shrugs, "I'm guessing it's a bit faster than anything other mission's had to work with." Lilly nods, opening the engine hatch, "looks close to what the last mission had to work with, but with a few modifications, so you're on the right track, last mission took 'bout five days for them to reach it." I smile to myself, "well, what do you think they stocked for us to eat?" I ask jokingly. "Hopefully something better than what the cafeteria served," Lea answers, taking hold of the controls and steering us in the right direction.
