My thoughts on the umbrella of authority:
The umbrella of authority is a ranking system created by Bill Gothard, the founder of IBLP. This system ranks the authority of each person in a family unit. (+ Religious figures).
Before I continue I’d like to make it clear I am not affiliated with IBLP, and I am 100% aware IBLP is a cult. This post is purely to explain what I, an average Catholic, thinks of that system.
The order of the umbrella of authority:
❥ Jesus Christ
❥ Pastors
❥ Husband
❥ Wife
❥ Children
While the documentary Shiny Happy People made it sound as if this entire concept was created by Bill Gothard: It wasn’t. The concept does come straight from the bible.
By no means is this to say the bible speaks of this concept to the same extent, however.
Bill Gothard took the order of authority to an entirely different level. A very misogynistic and predatory level. Bill Gothard’s version of how women should submit essentially meant being completely docile and in a way it was legal sex trafficking.
Biblically speaking, submission does not mean being completely docile, nor does it mean letting a man do whatever he wants to you.
The bible says that if a man cheats on his wife, he should be k*lled. The bible also says that you should always leave a relationship with an evil person. This very clearly applies to domestic violence.
The bible does not in any capacity support a husband being disloyal or violent towards his wife.
In fact according to the bible a man should…
❥ Praise his wife and speak highly of her (+ If you have children teach them to do the same)
❥ Love his wife the way Christ loves us
❥ Always treat his wife with understanding + honour her
❥ Always treat his wife gently
The order of authority in my mind is less about who has power and more about who provides for who.
Jesus died for us to go to heaven. Pastors spread his word to help us get there. Husbands provide financially for their family. Wives provide for their husband and children by taking care of the home and making sure they get to live happily. Children grow up and repeat the process.
Overall I do not think Bill Gothard’s interpretation of the biblical order of authority is correct. The order is correct, the beliefs behind it are not.
Again: I am not affiliated with IBLP. I know they’re a cult. This post is not in support of them or Bill Gothard at all. I’ve just been watching Shiny Happy People and wanted to talk about what the average Christian thinks about it.

There’s something so important about dungeon meshi choosing falin to be their missing party member. She’s their healer. She is, in many ways, the most important member. She’s the one who ensures they all come home in one piece at the end of the day. So from a storytelling perspective, it makes sense that it would be her. It intrinsically raises the stakes by taking away the party’s ability to quickly heal.
But from a thematic standpoint it’s even more significant. Falin is the best of them. She holds them all together. There’s a reason why the party splits up when they lose her, after all. The only reason Laois and Marcille know each other is because of Falin, so by extension she’s the only reason their party exists the way it does.
There’s something almost divine about the way she’s characterized by her friends. They talk about her kindness, think of what she’d do if she were with them. You never hear anyone speak poorly of her. Everyone else has flaws. Laois struggles to connect with others, Chilchuck can’t admit when he cares, Marcille refuses to be wrong, and Senshi is very stuck in his ways. None of these are necessarily a bad thing. It just makes them complex people. But Falin is almost more of an idealized concept than a person.
And then we see Falin on screen, a mess of bones and viscera. We see her put back together with forbidden magic, her new body soaked with blood. We see that there’s something off about her, that alongside her kindness is incredible power. And everything up until that point reframes itself. Falin has always been part monster, from her compassion for the dead to her magic school hideout in a dungeon. She dies and comes back, not just changed but amplified. She’s a healer, a ghost, a monster, all tucked beneath the same skin.

okay but like. I just had the weirdest thought about that ‘don’t look I’m naked’ comic. Which is that that’s essentially the same thing Adam and Eve did after they ate the fruit of knowledge of good&evil. So I feel like the theological implications of that could kneecap Gabe if he doesn’t think V1 is a being with free will.
yeah ok. i dunno man. is this anything
((side note. this isn’t necessarily meant to be in-character or story-accurate or take place at any particular point in time, just a way to explore some Thoughts. i was also imagining more that V1’s words aren't actually spoken, more like Gabriel’s more articulate interpretation of whatever garbled mechanical noise V1 is using to communicate. I think an angel could do that.))

What Influences Are In Your Love Life?
Influencers are all over the place in today's society. Before the rise of social media, influencers often came from people nearby. For the longest family: parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles, siblings, etc. Community: pastors, members of the church, teachers, mayors, etc. were the greatest influencers in a child's life.
Of course, people then admired celebrities on television and in magazines. But then, unlike now, we didn't have the luxury of deciphering through a plethora of ever-changing thoughts, feelings, and relationships anyone went through. With the rise of social media, a gateway opened that released an influx of influencers and confusion.
It has always been important who you listened to. Today it is even more urgent that you daily ask the Holy Ghost (for my Christ saved-believing brothers and sisters out there) to grant you the wisdom of who stands in the way of you accurately receiving and witnessing the goodness of Jesus.
In the book of Luke chapter 8 verses 49-56, Jesus performs a healing on a twelve-year-old girl. At the opening of chapter 8 the little girl's dad, Jarius, came up to Jesus and "fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:" (verse 41). Jarius went to Jesus because he didn't want to lose his only daughter.
On the way, a crowd surrounded Jesus causing a delay from Him getting to the sick girl(see Luke 8:43-48). Even that couldn't stop Jesus. When He did make it the little girl had died. Jarius' response to Jesus was one of defeat. But Jesus said, "Fear not: believe only" (verse 50).
Before Jesus performed the miracle of raising the girl from the rest, He only took three disciples inside with Him and the child's parents (see Luke 8:50-51). Those in the house grieved over the death of this child. But Jesus told them not to because she wasn't dead and they laughed at Him. Which prompted Jesus to put them out (see Luke 8:52-54).
I used this biblical example to inform someone that everyone doesn't believe in the right things. More specifically, some people believe there is an escape plan for marriage—Jesus only list two reasons. Some people believe in selfish love—but love is not selfish.
The reason the right influence is so important is that the wrong influence will lead you to the wrong information! So many artists sing and rap about singlehood, being whoremongers, prostitutes—the whole time they are in full-blown relationships. What you're listening to is an influence on your mind. What you watch is an influence on your mind. Who you follow on social media is an influence on your mind. Who you are around is an influence on your mind.
Everyone is influenced by something, whether he or she admits to it or not. Please, study Luke 8:40-56. Though it's talking about a sick twelve-year-old girl who eventually died and Jesus awoke her from the dead. This biblical truth can be applied into many areas of life.
For starters, if you want a lasting healthy marriage get away from influencers who glorify divorce, says they are happily divorced, people who declare divorce is a graduation, and those who don't want to hear divorce isn't a part of marriage.
Allow God to be inside your marriage. His word will lead to a healthy marriage. It will be blessed. And anything that God blesses is fulfilling. I ask you, who is it that Jesus is kicking out the "room"? Why are you trying to hang on to them?

I just feel like we don't talk enough about how much arthur just genuinely loved merlin and how much he did for him
there is no big destiny, no alternative motives. Arthur was genuinely just.... willing to sacrifice his life, go to war, give his mother's sigil away JUST BECAUSE. He just really liked his lil guy.
He loved Merlin's company, trusted him, has open conversations with him and he put Merlin's opinions above a lot of other things.
He's so fucking committed to Merlin and he doesn't even know 68% of the things that Merlin does to deserve it????!!!!!!??!?!?!?!
It blows my mind EVERYTIME I realize that homeboi just loved cause HE WAS PURE OF HEART. Arthur didn't need to know all the things merlin did for him to love him HIS LOVE WAS UNCONDITIONAL
if you wanna make things sadder then think about how big and full of love arthur heart was but meeting merlin was the only chance he got to pour all that love into someone and not have it thrown away
