Fred Fredburger - 3D Blockout I started doing Shane Olson's 3D Character Workshop this month! I'm still on the first week, but it's been great so far, the best classes I've ever seen in fact.

It was brought to my attention by the master of the great apes, @therickbaker that today is “Gorilla Suit Day”. I’ve never sculpted a Gorilla mask… YET… But here’s a chimp I blocked out about a year and a half ago. I will admit, didn't think I would get this far with him but I am actually happy at how he turned out so far.

sure I can use some work on my anatomy but I will say for a version 1, he is coming out pretty good.

I will say the Sculpt part is almost finished, all I have to do is smooth it out a bit and it will look pretty good... I hope

I will have to smooth out some details here and there and hope that this will all turn out good in the end.

When starting an illustration, what do your roughs look like? Recently I started doing super rough blockouts in a separate sketchbook, trying not to spend more than 10 minutes getting it out.

I used to never want to do things like this, but it's been really fulfilling after my long burn out to just pump out something fast without worrying about what it looks like, then go remake it later.
