Book Bellatrix is (part one):
Very tall. Taller than all three of the trio according to Harry when Hermione uses polyjuice to turn into her.
Quick. She’s able to stun four snatchers at once even when they’re in an uproar against her. They all ‘fell where they stood’ suggesting they didn’t even have time to stop her. Greyback is also restricted before he can even try to stop her and bound and kneeling at her feet.
Still very attractive after Azkaban again according to Harry despite that she makes his stomach lurch every time he looks at her.
Has ‘very long rippling black hair’ that’s not curly. It’s still rippling but now it’s become slightly coarse rather than silken and shiny like it was before Azkaban.
Bloodthirstier. She interrogates Griphook and when she’s satisfied with his answer she casually flicks her wand to cut him deep in the face then doesn’t even look back at him as he falls to his knees and screams in agony.
Thin. Not gaunt looking like she was right after her release from Azkaban but that’s part of why she’s so intimidating. She’s tall and thin.
Violent. She hit Ron across the face (just to get him to shut up) so hard his mouth was filled with blood and the sound was so loud it echoed around the room. She’s so violent it seems second nature.
Low (almost sultry) and disdainful in her baritone / voice. I always read her lines in Angelina’s Maleficent voice.
Not thin lipped! Just puts her lips into a line or purses her lips from time to time.
Feared and revered even amongst the goblins of gringots who ‘do not get involved in wizarding issues’.
Has an outright ‘malevolent aura’. So much so she’s never questioned or affronted. All along Diagon alley people were quickly stealing away from her to hide, too terrified of her to stick around.
Known to be closest to Voldemort even in public and non-pureblood circles.
Terrifying. She’s described as ‘frightening, mad’ when she’s screaming orders — so much so even her own sister who had been reluctant to do as she wants does so anyway. Even Fenrir Greyback is scared of her. When she finally releases him he ‘appeared too weary to approach her’ and would rather ‘prowl behind an armchair’ than get too close to Bellatrix.
Physically strong. Certainly strong enough to drag Hermione by her hair into the middle of the room. Strong enough to throw off Lucius’ attempt to grasp her and capture him herself in her grasp.
Ruthless. ‘If she dies under questioning, I’ll take you next. Blood traitor is next to mudblood in my book.’ Something she tells Ron after she’s hit him. She’s also incredibly calm when she’s being violent or hurting people. She doesn’t think twice on it.
A natural leader. She takes charge in most situations. She gives orders easily and she doesn’t care who she’s giving them to. She tells Draco to ‘move this scum outside. If you haven’t got the guts to finish them then leave them in the courtyard for me.’ When indicating to the snatchers she left unconscious.

Tedromeda Rec List
I put together a Tedromeda rec list for an anon ask of @spindrifters, and I figured it ought to be its own post! I like messy, imperfect, bordering on toxic Tedromeda, and I especially love lesbian!Tedromeda so if those are not your things you may not vibe with this rec list and that's ok! But if they are -
Turncoat: in defense of andromeda tonks nee black, @ink-splotch (8.3k)
“When her little cousin Sirius got disowned too, years later, Andromeda sent him a fruit basket.”
This fic was so big and so brilliant and the world building is so excellent. It made me cry. I had to triple check the word count in putting it here because it seems so much longer because it’s just so rich with life and detail.
War, or Peace, or Whatever This Is, Slyboots (7.6k)
“Fall in line, that’s the way, and never mind who gives the orders. Carrying on, that’s the British national sport.”In the aftermath of the Fall of the Ministry of Magic, Andromeda Tonks does what little good she can.”
I love a war time fic with complicated world building and no good choices. Really brilliant fic. The sharp, fast moving pace adds to the paranoid anything-can-happen-at-any-moment feeling of a coup.
In Memoriam, Bitterfic on LiveJournal (6k)
“When he was young, brash, he had said that the Muggle-born were as good as any purebloods, yet he had never doubted that Andromeda Black was infinitely superior to him. Even after twenty-five years of marriage, he never thought of her by his name, as Andromeda Tonks. She was to him always Andromeda Black whose voice cut through the darkness that night in the Forbidden Forest.” (cw: sexual assault, suicidal ideation)
A brilliant haunting little fic from my favorite LJ writer from wayyy back in the day. Ted Tonks POV
Andromeda Liberata (133k+ WIP) (lesbian Tedromeda)
“In which Andromeda Black cruelly betrays her sisters and sets in motion the total destruction of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black because she fell in love with a lesbian muggleborn.”
While it might be tacky to put your own fic in a rec list,  I’m quite proud of it :)
i don’t forgive you (but please don’t hold me to it) by evawrites (10k, T) (lesbian Tedromeda)
For Andromeda, the choice is not between the Dark and the Light. It’s not between Headmaster Dumbledore and the Dark Lord, not between Teddy’s family and her own. Instead, it’s between Bella and Teddy. Foolishly, Andromeda prays she’ll get to keep both.(She gets to keep neither.)
Dark and haunting and the contrast between Bellatrix and Ted is so well set up.
history books forgot about us by spindrifters (25k, E)
Andromeda Black meets Ted Tonks quite by accident, and it’s something like mischief at first sight. From the lost papers and mixed-up files of the marginalia universe, the complete history of a relationship that was never meant to happen.
This canon-divergent universe is everything, and these two recklessly in love kids are everything to me!
wherefore/evermore by @leftsidedown (150 words, T)
continuing the Great Literary Tradition of mad women writing villanelles
A poem!!
-
And then some Andromeda-centric fic where Tedromeda is important but it's not really a shippy fic:
not like the rest of them by unspeakable3 (11k, T)
Sirius has recently followed in Andromeda's footsteps and emancipated himself from their family. This afternoon, the two cousins will reunite - and see each other for the first time in four years. Andromeda is nervous. Sirius is nervous. There is a lot they need to say to each other.
Imperfect runaways!!
we were sisters once (we have another love now) by Nefaria_Black (3k, T)
Dora is six and few things are more exciting than a day spent in Diagon Alley. Even if the street is packed with people. Even if she’s separated from her parents by the crowd Because Mother is easy enough to find, isn’t she?
Haunting fairytale vibes
The Waves by nanneramma (3k, M)
Andromeda is not sure if she got it right. But she tried.
Gorgeous canon-compliant character study
-
And for those who like some Blackcest with their Tedromeda:
Clip, Ravel, Cleave by @vdoshu (15k, E)
Before Andromeda met Ted, she was a Black, through and through. While years later the story was told that she’d turned her back on her family’s dark ways, in truth, nothing was so simple. In the beginning, it was just Andromeda and Bella. And it was just the two of them until it was too much.
An all-time favorite featuring Andromeda and Ted meeting after Hogwarts and dark magic addiction and all sorts of dark goodness

Tonight, on the eve of my birth, I speak much chaos into the universe:
Sirius Black is tall and a top and an alpha and bisexual and probably fucked Bellatrix multiple times.
William Laurence deserves to be bred by Tharkay. He also deserves to breed Napoleon. He and Tom Riley are exes. I think he got Jane pregnant in book 9 and she gives him and Tharkay and Temeraire the baby to raise. I think there needs to be more fic where he gets executed post VOE.
Hawkeye Pierce has a breeding kink. He wants to be knocked up by Sidney SO BAD but only BJ will knock him up.
Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler are such a valid m/f couple but also Alan was definitely fucking grad student Billy right????
Ten/Rose isn't m/f because Ten isn't a man eyyyyyyyyyyyy
Jim/McCoy is superior to Jim/Spock.
Chakotay/Tom is superior to Tom/Harry.
Data ABSOLUTEY has emotions, it's just that his emotions don't manifest in ways that humans notice/understand.
You WISH your OTP had what Aziraphale/Crowley has. A 6000-year-long love story? Pining, misunderstandings, constant rescuing, canonical dancing, a canonical kiss? Your OTP could never.
Okay goodnight I hope I wake up to lots of chaos in my inbox in the morning!

↳˗ˏˋWhat your favorite HP character says about you:ˊˎ˗ ↴
a/n: don't @ me, this is just a big ol' joke, and you have no idea how much I laughed while doing this. These are my opinions and I’m mostly making fun of myself, so keep that in mind! <3.
↳- Marauders Era! -༉‧₊˚✧
James Potter: The straight A+ student now suffers from raging anxiety and drools for old men. No, come back, I'm talking to you.
Sirius Black: How are your mommy issues going on, dear? Is this one your favorite because it's cool, or you're just really horny? And, how's that desire to get everyone's approval going on?
Remus Lupin: We get it, you like this one! Shut up for five minutes. How do you cope with your daddy issues? Oh, yeah? You don't care? Then why are you crying?
Peter Pettigrew: How does it feel to be ignored in the group chat? Oh, sorry, I wasn't paying attention.
Lily Evans: Mommy issues, probably bisexual, middle sibling vibes.
Marlene Mckinnon: I wanna make fun of you, but is so obviously correct. Also, how’s your relationship with your parents? Do they know you're not straight?
Regulus Black: How do you cope with your depression? How does it feel to have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Why do you pretend everything’s fine?
Severus Snape: Thank you for letting me know to ignore all your future opinions. Please, stop ghosting your therapist.
Bellatrix Lestrange/Black: Officer, is this one, right here. I’m terrified of you, please stay 10 meters away from me.
↳- Lighting Era! -༉‧₊˚✧
Harry Potter: The safest option, maybe a little bit overrated, but is still a good one! You have an insatiable desire for sub-boys. Bisexual vibes but you only date gamer boys, nothing more.
Ron Weasley: You’ll never grow out of this phase. You wear converse and you have a transparent phone case. You order matcha, at Starbucks, with oat milk.
Hermione Granger: This may not be everyone’s favourite, but it’s yours and s’ok. Marina stan, Hermit the Frog on repeat.
Draco Malfoy: This was a big part of your sexual awakening. Daddy issues. You smell nice.
Ginny Weasley: Book biased? You have worryingly anger issues. Movie biased? Please seek help immediately.
Cedric Diggory: You have impeccable taste. You’re gorgeous, be my bestie, no questions.
Fred and/or George Weasley: Perfect out-of-the-box pick! The quality is just high and enough, and the popularity is low enough. But I know what you read, you want both at the same time, am I right? Disgusting (call me xo).
Luna Lovegood: So true. You’re right, you’re correct. You are insane, your mental illness is getting worse every day, but, at least you have a good sense of fashion. Gay vibes, stop playing with your septum please.
Tom Riddle: Nostalgia makes the good things seem great. S’just a phase, I promise. Is like the default settings when you start reading/watching HP.
Voldemort: This was the perfect outside-the-box pick, like, 10 years ago, but so many people that didn't wanna be mainstream picked it that it became mainstream. Please stop with that superiority complex, you’re a very ordinary human being.

His mother's last words to him were, "Always do good works for those less fortunate."
At least, that was what he said when asked about why he'd decided to choose the Snape boy has personal fag this year.
What his mother had actually said was, "Always be seen to do good works for those less fortunate, like half-bloods, if you want to be named Head Boy.
The words had come as she buttered a piece of brioche over breakfast one summer morning, the same day he'd received official notice that he was to be Slytherin house's fifth-year prefect. Her unfortunate death while skiing in the Alps was six long months away.
He knew she wouldn't mind him taking liberties with her words, but she'd probably have scolded him for gilding the lily by having her give them on her deathbed.
Before the current headmaster, all first years had been forced to serve their upperclassmen as fags. In turn, those upperclassmen had helped the new students adapt to the school and protected them. Lifelong bonds were formed. Students from less noble backgrounds made connections that they might not otherwise have. One or two people over the years had likely misused their power certainly, but that hardly seemed justification for trying to do away with the entire system as the headmaster was trying so hard to do.
Slughorn understood the importance of the tradition, which is why he allowed it to continue in a modified manner, under the headmaster's disapproving eye. Now, only 6th and 7th year prefects could be fag masters, and they were only allowed one boy or girl to serve them.
He'd intended on choosing Sirius Black -- he was promised to the boy's cousin after all and it wouldn't hurt to make ties with other branches of the family. Only that plan had entirely gone to hell when the contrary brat had wound up in Gryffindor instead.
He'd remembered his mother's words that evening in the common room, after the Sorting Feast, as he'd looked over the boys available to him and tried to decide which of the motley group to choose. The others had been minor purebloods at best and there was no real advantage for Lucius to choose one over the other. The Snape boy had to have been at least a half-blood to end up in Slytherin, and poor to boot -- choosing him really was charitable deed.
Bellatrix, the sixth year girls' prefect, had made the first year girls line up in a row and paced behind them, tapping their heads as if she were playing Snidget, Snidget, Gray Snidget before selecting Morguna Hillthwaite with a sharp cuff to the back of the girl's head that made Morguna's dark braids swing wildly.
Perhaps Bellatrix had the right of it, choosing a fag at random, because so far his decision to choose Snape had been a disaster.
The boy obeyed his orders, but he did it with such mulishness that it ought to be considered disobedience. Lucius couldn't recall any of the other fags being so recalcitrant. If Lucius had ever been chosen as fag by one his actual superiors he was certain he would have comported himself better than the Snape boy.
He'd instructed the boy to have his boots shined before Slug Club tonight, and not only were his boots not shined but the boy was hunched over a book of glamour-ification spells from the common room library.
"You'll need more than swish-and-flick to fix your unfortunate visage, Snape."
Snape jerked violently in surprise, nearly tossing the book onto the floor. The dark curtain of his hair flicked back for a moment, and the firelight caught what was shaping up to be a truly impressive bruise on one side of his face.
The boy tried to duck his head and hide his injury once more, but Lucius was quicker and grasped him by the chin, turning his face towards the light.
"How did this happen," A fall down the stairs when they moved, "Have you been to see Madam Pomfrey," A shake of the head, "Would you like to tell me who actually did this," Another shake of the head, "Good man."
While Hogwarts stairs were well known to move at seeming random, but they did not as a general rule harm students in the process. Lucius had no doubt that a fight had been the actual cause of Snape's injuries and was impressed at the boy's determination not to name his assailants.
Not that it was hard to guess who the assailants were. Tensions between Snape and Avery had died down after Snape had shown himself to be a cunning pugilist. Even if Avery had decided to try his luck again, he would never have attacked his fellow Slytherin in the open where anyone could see.
No, the Snape boy seemingly had a talent for making enemies -- specifically of James Potter and Sirius Black. They were like hounds after the fox when it came to Snape, and it wasn't even November yet.
"Well then, since you've failed to polish my boots as I requested," A flick summoned his second-favorite boots, the polish that the Malfoy house elves had given them still bright, "You'll be serving me tonight at Slug Club as part of your punishment, so come along now."
He'll be sure to have a word with Goldberg at the party tonight and ensure that she gets a good look at the bruise on Snape's face. Goldberg was a Gryffindor through-and-through, valuing fairness and what she thought was 'right' over even house loyalty. She'd see to it that Black and Potter were appropriately punished for their part in the fracas.

Hello my name is Ace and this is me brain rotting a marauders voldemort wins au with wolfstar starchaser and nobleflower
btw this fic is going to have three parts (volumes?? books?? idk) and this is mostly just what I have planned for the first one
So imagine a world where Voldemort wins the war but the war happened before The Marauders were born.
So basically The Marauders have always lived in a world where Voldemort is in charge and purebloods are superior.
Muggles know that magic exists and when muggleborns start showing signs of magic they immediately go on a registry and are taken away from their families because they’re seen as “stealing magic”
Any purebloods or halfbloods that are caught or seen going against Voldemort get arrested and are mostly made to work for Voldemort as his castles staff and thats how a lot of our main characters have ended up.
Voldemort has taken over Hogwarts and now lives there. The old classrooms have been turned into guest bedrooms and other various rooms and the common rooms/dorms have been stripped of everything that made then habitable and are where the staff/prisoners live.
In the old Slytherin common room is where the halfbreeds are kept (they’re supposed to only be allowed out when they’re needed)
Oh yeah also the staff are also the Order and are secretly planning a rebellion and trying to find ways that they can take Voldemort down from the inside.
context out of the way lets get into the plot
So Narcissa Black is set to marry Lucius Malfoy and they're having the wedding at Hogwarts so every important pureblood family are staying at the castle for the event.
Out of these families are of corse the Black family.
Upon hearing the the Black family will be coming, during an Order meeting James, Remus and Alice decide to make a bet on who can shag one of the Black cousins first
Because Voldemort is cocky and doesn't have as much control over his staff as he thinks he does. Also James, Alice and Remus are cocky and think they can each have relations with a member of the Black family without shit hitting the fan.
So Remus goes for Sirius and they immediately fall in love. Like love at first sight, they feel like they’ve known each other their entire lives type shit.
The Black cousins are close in this fic so Sirius obviously tells Regulus about Remus and Regulus tells Sirius to stop seeing him.
Sirius is confused because he was almost certain that Regulus would be happy for them
BUT (and heres the plot twist) it’s because Sirius and Remus have met before and they had their memories whipped.
SO a few years ago Remus used to live with his mother, step mother, two brothers and two step sisters and they lived near the Number 12 Grimmauld place.
Sirius and Remus ended up meeting one day and fell in love. Remus met Regulus and became friends with him also and it was all great until Bellatrix found out while she was visiting her cousins.
Now in this fic Bellatrix is a villain and is completely insane but she cares about her family and uses her love for her cousins and wanting to keep her cousins and sisters safe as an excuse for her actions.
Because she knows what will happen to Sirius if he gets caught being with a halfblood she decided to obliviate both Remus and Sirius and send Remus to Hogwarts where he was then bitten by Greyback and made to believe that he was born a werewolf and has always lived in Hogwarts
Regulus somehow ended up keeping their memories and locking them in two rings.
So when Remus and Sirius wear the rings they have their memories back.
Regulus gives Sirius his ring and explains everything after Sirius finds Regulus with James and calls him a hypocrite and is so mad that Regulus things that Sirius will hate him forever if he doesn't explain.
Immediately after Sirius gives Remus his ring and Remus gets all of his memories back.
Unfortunately though theres not much they can do about their situation beyond that. Even with his memories back Remus still can’t just leave Hogwarts and be with his family again and now that Remus is a werewolf theres even more of a reason on why they aren't allowed to be together.
Sad times for Wolfstar.
ANYWAYS MEANWHILE WITH STARCHASER
James is a fuckboy and is highly confident that he will win the bet.
Until he doesnt because Regulus is a little shit who is hard to get. (and he knows through Sirius what could happen if he does allow himself to be with James)
James actually comes last in the bet but he’s not one to give up so he makes it his mission to seduce Regulus Black.
Now don’t worry James doesn’t harass Regulus or anything he respects his decision theres just a lot of shameless flirting that he doesn’t actually mean because he’s just trying to prove to Remus and Alice that he can get a member of the Black family to sleep with him like they did.
However as time goes on James slowly starts to fall in love with Regulus and Regulus starts to fall for James.
I’m starting to realise that I just explained the plot to the After--
Don’t worry this will be better then After... Hopefully.
 ANYWAYS ONTO NOBLEFLOWER
So Alice is at a disadvantage because Narcissa is literally set to get married. But its either her or Bellatrix so she’s taking what she can get.
Alice and Narcissa hit it off pretty quickly and at first it is just sex but as time goes on they start to open up to each other and Narcissa realises just how much she hates her life.
Alice is the #1 Narcissa supporter and tries to teach Narcissa that she doesnt hve to live like she is
Only Narcissa does have to live like she is because if she doesnt shell end up in the same situation that Alice is in and could put her entire family in danger.
A lot of back and forth between these two but they get their feelings out in the end
Just in time for Bellatrix to find out about them and torture Alice on the morning of the wedding
Im going to leave it there because I have plans for Narcissa in part two but part one ends with the wedding and I’m still trying to figure out what everyone else will be doing in part two.
Aside from our three main forbidden romances we also have two other storylines to get through.
LIKE DORCAS, who is one of Remus’ step sisters.
(I have this thing where in nearly all of my fics Remus and Dorcas are step siblings. Idk why but i like it so just go with it)
The family were told that Remus was killed but wasn’t given a reason why.
Because of this Dorcas is in her serial killer era and is going round killing important purebloods
At the beginning of the fic she’s in Ireland and has killed the entire of the McKinnon and Bone family, apart from three.
Edgar Bones is at Hogwarts because he was arrested and Amelia and Marlene weren’t with their families at the time because they were in the woods having a Jo and Laurie moment.
Amelia is in love with Marlene but Marlene turns her down.
After Marlene leaves Amelia heartbroken in the woods Dorcas approaches her.
While killing the others Dorcas took note of the absence of Edgar, Amelia and Marlene and after finding Marlene and Amelia in the woods she figured that Edgar must’ve been taken at some point.
Dorcas figures that she could use some help and asks Amelia to join her and Amelia agrees
(Obviously the main way to go about this would be Dorcas and Marlene slowly falling in love but as much as I’m in love with Dorlene I don't know how I would go about making that happen exactly considering Marlene does go to Hogwarts with the ther purebloods and Dorcas won’t see Marlene again until halfway through part two at the earliest)
(It might be interesting to mix things up a bit and have Amelia and Dorcas be a thing but i don’t know how people will feel about that. Overall I don’t really have a set plan for Marlene, at this point the only reason why she doesn’t die with her family is because I know people will have my head if I kill Marlene off before Chapter five)
Dorcas and Amelia spend the entire of part one killing people and scaring the shit out of everyone while making their way towards Hogwarts where they will kill Voldemort and end his reign
Along the way they meet Benjy who goes looking for them because he wants to join them
He also tells them that he wants their help to break his boyfriend Caradoc out of Hogwarts and they agree.
MEANWHILE BACK AT HOGWARTS we have yet another forbidden love but this time with Edgar and Emmeline.
As stated before Edgar used to live in Ireland with his siblings and close to the McKinnons. While this was going on Emmeline was living with the McKinnons after her father and two younger brothers were killed.
Emmeline and Edgar used to be really good friends until Edgar was arrested.
Emmeline goes with Marlene to Hogwarts for the wedding and while she’s there she runs into Edgar.
Edgar isnt too happy to see Emmeline because she was the one who told on him and got him arrested.
So while we have Wolfstar, Nobleflower and Starchaser having their forbidden romances we also have Edgarline having a very special enemies to lovers forbidden romance.
Now I know that Edgar and Emmeline is a very unpopular ship but trust me they’re cute.
IN TERMS OF EVERYONE ELSE IM A BIT LOST ON WHAT TO DO WITH THEM
The plotlines I’ve just mentioned will be the main ones but for a lot of characters I’m having trouble placing them.
Caradoc will be apart of the Order obviously and is Benjys boyfriend
Frank is one of Alice’s old friends who appears for one chapter during part one to offer her marriage
I’m thinking Peter as a pureblood who is currently at Hogwarts and is good friends with Sirius
Lily and Mary are definitely a part of the Order and will be in a established relationship but I’m not really sure what else I can do with them. I don’t want to just make them side characters with nothing going on
As already said with Marlene she will be at Hogwarts but I dont know what she’s doing there other then observing
Everyone else is wandering my brain trying to find somewhere in this fic to go
ANYWAYS if by some miracle you read all of that and have literally any thoughts on if its good or bad or if i should change anything or what I should do with certain characters or relatonships please let me know cause this took FOREVER to all get out of my head and into a tumblr post
Also I dont have a name for the fic...
We really are in the beginners stages

Is Dudley better than Draco?
I very often come across the opinion that Draco is worse than Dudley. Most often, this opinion is argued by the fact that Dudley did not need to go through Draco's traumatic experience in order to change, and Draco himself changed only when he found himself at the bottom. Seriously? Both boys had completely different life paths and upbringings. Draco and Dudley are completely different.
Dudley and Draco. Upbringing. Dudley and Harry are cousins. They were raised together from infancy. And their relationship is definitely bad. Harry and Dudley can't stand each other, even though they are blood relatives who grew up together all their lives. This was influenced by Petunia and Veronon. Their attitude towards Harry distorted the possible brotherly friendship between the children even in the early stages of the development of their consciousness. The adults created a wall between them. Harry felt hostility and envy towards Dudley. Dudley felt contempt and disgust for Harry. Living in the same house, they were almost enemies. At the same time, they were brought up in a fairly ordinary society. They visited school and various places, interacted with other children and so on. That is, they had ideas about the family, the institution of the family and moral values. Most often, the institution of family means love and support, which clearly was not the case in their relationship. Moral behavior is how children are usually raised in our world. At a minimum, even if they didn’t talk about it at home, at school there could be a topic of conversation about family. Both Dudley and Harry knew that as cousins they should be on good terms and bullying was not right.
Draco grew up in a huge family estate with his parents and elves. Of Draco's closest relatives, only his parents and grandfather were his. Bellatrix and Rodolphus were imprisoned in Azkaban when Draco was one year old. Regulus died before he was born. Anromeda and Sirius were no longer part of the family. It is not known whether Draco knew any of his grandmothers personally. Even if he knew Walburga, it was not for long, since she died when Draco was 5 years old. So it turns out that his family is Narcissa, Lucius and Abraxas. And they are all purebred wizards with the ideology of blood superiority. And as the only people who surrounded him in childhood, they instilled in him their worldview. No one could question this worldview. The elves served the Malfoy family loyally and wouldn't dare say the wrong thing. Malfoy Manor is secluded; Draco clearly did not have the opportunity to play with the neighboring children. The people who could come to visit were like his parents. School? No. Draco, as a member of the aristocracy, received appropriate training. Most likely, he had purebred teachers and tutors who taught etiquette, spelling, art and what else the little gentleman needed to know. Draco was literally cut off from the rest of the world. He was not taught mercy and kindness, he was taught that he was better than others and must live up to this.
Dudley and Draco. Spoiled. Draco and Dudley's desires are spoiled by their parents. As children, they were bought expensive toys and things. They never lacked for anything. However, even if we take the very first book as an example, we will see that both boys are different. Dudley poked his parents with a stick, argued and was unhappy, tried to fight with his father because of Harry's letter. This is literally everything that Draco did not allow himself to do in relation to Narcissa and Lucius. Dudley puts himself above his parents. Draco doesn't question his parents' authority. Dudley is spoiled and believes that since Petunia and Vernon love him, he can do whatever he wants. Draco is spoiled because he is a Malfoy and he knows that he must live up to his status.
Draco. Draco does everything to meet Lucius' expectations. One of the best students in the course, a member of the Quiditch team, a prefect and a death eater. Draco literally did all this for his parents. Academic success was expected of him and he provided it. From childhood he was told that serving their lord was an honor and he served. But, Draco is a bastard. Draco is a coward. Draco is an arrogant bully. Draco could be a better person. But Draco was the best for his parents, high society and status. Draco had no empathy. He did not know how to sympathize with others, he did not know that it was necessary. Draco was boastful and arrogant. But even good people can like to brag and have inflated self-esteem. Draco bullied others. But he didn't know how much it hurt. And only when he myself found meself in the victim’s place did he understand what mental and physical pain was. After Draco finds himself at the bottom, he realizes that everything that made sense before turns out to be not so significant. In the sixth book, his world collapses, and already in the seventh it is built according to a new way of life. His social status is simply terrible. His family fell. He is no longer an arrogant boy. Now he can understand someone else's pain. He stops putting himself above others. At the end of the book series, Draco goes into the future as a completely different person. And this future is bright.
Dudley. I think Dudley was emotionally attached to Harry and when he realized that now they would not meet again, it dawned on him that he did not hate Harry. Perhaps they could be good brothers?
P.s.They're both assholes and that's a fact. They have changed and that is also a fact. They were able to grow up, change and become better people. (This is truly the evolution of Dudley and Draco as characters. For example, Snape and the Marauders never grew up. Remember the meeting of Sirius and Snape in book 3.)

There’s this book I read, and the author said something concerning two of the characters that I think would apply to Sirius: Character A figures out the things that are important/bother Character B by the things B doesn’t say, rather than the things B does say. Sirius might not talk about the bigger issues in his life, but the Marauders realize what things are bothering him specifically because he avoids talking about them. I’m sure he confides in James once they’ve grown close and Sirius knows he won’t spill his secrets, but I think Sirius is a very private person and he still guards his secrets closely, he didn’t even tell Harry Bellatrix was his cousin until Harry saw her on the tapestry and asked about it and he very rarely spoke about his family life (in fact, iirc, he only brings it up when Harry asks), so Sirius just holds those secrets close, but his close friends probably realized where his sore spots were because he didn’t talk about them.
i do agree w this! i think all black kids had this sort of superiority ingrained in them that stopped them from confiding in just about anyone and then as they grow older, they sort of internalised all their problems bc they didn’t wanna seem ‘weak’. i also think for Sirius, after a certain age, he probably became conflicted about the amount of privilege he had in the WW in contrast w the problems he faced? and that made it even harder for him to open up, if that made sense.
his friend definitely realised this tho, and they gave him space to be private as well, which isn’t easy or common. never made him feel like he had to tell everyone everything at all times to be emotionally healthy,

New Bellatrix headcanon just dropped-
Based on how Draco regarded Hufflepuff in the first book, I can imagine powerful Slytherin pureblood families regarded Hufflepuff “weak” so Bella didn’t wanted to be treated like that by her family
(Even tho Hufflepuff is superior, coming from a slytherin)

What attracted you to Bellamort in the first place and what made this ship so appealing to you?
Ooh great question! I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't a Bellamort shipper before I discovered the HP online fandom and was introduced to this ship. I loved Bella in the books but Bellamort didn't really occur to me. But once I discovered it I was completely devoted to it. There's just so much to explore with these two! (which is why I'm so disappointed that most Bellamort fics don't even explore half of it). Obviously there's the power dynamic and the mentor-student one. Then there's the fact that Voldemort's character who is cold and without feelings makes exceptions for Bella. From Bella's POV I completely understand why she would fall for Voldemort and it makes perfect sense. Rodolphus is okay but Bellatrix strikes me as someone who needs to worship the person they love and needs someone whom she considers to be her superior, not her equal. She needs someone to learn from and not someone she can easily dominate.
I like the way it's written because it's not overt in any way and just leaves you wanting more. There's basically a new aspect of their relationship illustrated in every interaction they have. I personally like to have some gaps to fill out myself in different ways as opposed to having everything spelled out, which is what happened to other romantic relationships in the Potterverse, IMO.
I'm still not sure whether Rowling intended to write Bellamort as a two-sided relationship or just went along with it for CC because she realized how popular it was and that it made sense. But in the end, who cares?
PS: did I mention how sexy Bellamort is? It's sexy! Like you just know they have great sex.

Wand Description/Picture: Cedar, Dragon Heartstring, 13 inches
[Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.]

I just love how casually Bellatrix comes into the drawing room at Malfoy Manor when Harry gets dragged there, just a casual cool “what’s going on Cissy?” as if she’s just woken up after a whole night of being dicked down by Voldemort.

As a Sirius fan, I have started feeling a lot of solidarity with Snape fans- I feel their same complaints- that the character is getting lambasted for having flaws on page while new Marauders fans can sit in moral superiority for stanning someone who had two lines dedicated to them, that the narrative in-story is being handed off to these three line OC's while the original character is left with nothing, terrible mischaracterization. Snape fans who might randomly find this, I feel you!!
Yeah, weirdly enough, the more screen time a character has, the more shit they seem to get from the fandom.
It's not even a Marauders-only thing. If you look at the Golden Trio - Ron, Neville, Ginny, Luna get butchered all the time. But then you have characters like Theo Nott who had maybe one line in the book and they're suddenly everyone's favourite sweetheart?
I get that we don't have much canon to work with sometimes, but it bothers me. Like, we see in canon that Draco Malfoy's closest friends are Crabbe and Goyle (one of them dies in the fiedfyre, which is obviously traumatising to the both of them), but this never gets explored - instead they get replaced with Nott, Zabini and Parkinson, usually, who are these cool, edgy, lovable friends of Draco's.
Same how Pandora, Barty Crouch, Evan Rosier and Dorcas have been made into the ""Slytherin skittles"" instead of exploring actual characters that Regulus likely a relationship with in canon, like Snape, Bellatrix, Narcissa etc.

I'm so sorry you are going through all these shit. I just wanted to ask you a genuine question because I saw your post on my feed how you find ARTHUR annoying in a Lucius ship. I found that so weird. Then I see your account is just talking badly about Harry being weak and etc etc hey, JKR technically says Voldemort can't feel love in the books idc what she says irl but you see, if you go with the canon, then we can't have a lot of things? Bellamort as much as I like the concept, canon made me hate their dynamic. I don't care about tomarrymort. I like Voldemort as a character. I like the idea of him but I don't like the execution in the book (that's why I called him one dimensional), that is why I read about him in fics. As for Harry, I feel you are very mean to him most of the times. He has a LOT of potential and that is what people like to play with, and that what JKR didn't play with and that is what made me ask you Harry who is shown to actually fight and be equal to actual death eaters (not talking about Voldemort) and won many times without any help: it's canon, just read deathly hollows : you somehow call him weak? I feel like he will wipe the floor with baby death eaters. So that was my problem with your account anyway but when I come back here to check if you have replied to me. All I see is hate comments which is horrible and horrifying. I didn't want to be mean to you anyways. And I hate that you are going through this. YOU DON'T DESERVE THIS. No one does and everyone should fuck off. It's your blog, your fucking wish. If they can't be not horrible, then they shouldn't speak. I'm so sorry, hope you have a great day and please ignore them.
it's alright, i think the sudden influx of hate was because i answered an ask about why i dislike tomarry and they reblogged it onto their account, but it doesn't bother me much.
i don't know how you found my lucius/arthur post? 😭😭 i didnt even maintag it whattt thats so funny lol. but yeah, personally, i find arthur annoying. he's so embarrassing... i just get the ick from him, it's nothing serious.
i LOVE lucius he's so cunty frr. not saying he was morally superior to arthur or anything but.. luci's my third favourite war criminal 🥰🥰
i never said harry was weak, i just said that he's not like, super powerful or anything. i don't understand why you zoomed in on me 'hating' harry, when so many other people love and cherish him. i can have a different opinion. i can find him annoying and distasteful at times, it's not a crime. yeah, sure harry could beat baby death eaters but i don't think he could beat some of the pureblood families simply because they are not afraid to use dark magic. they are ancient families. they have their roots and their traditions harry has probably never heard of. just because we see him overpowering DEs in deathly hallows doesn't mean he is super skilled in duelling. the DEs were instructed not to kill him. he is literally just fighting to survive. yes, he can be creative, yes he is smart, doesn't mean he will win every single duel.
if voldemort had allowed it, bellatrix would have slit his throat twice in deathly hallows and boom, series over, close the gates.
i'm not sure which ask you sent me and i don't remember if i thought you were being mean to me, but it's alright, it doesn't matter.
hope you have a great day <3

Bellatrix's Villain origin story
Following on from my meta I wanted to give Bellatrix, a villain origin story that is more nuanced than her simply being ‘insane’.
Note: I’ve changed a few cannon things like her father only being 13 when she was born and given her a birthday (she’s a scorpio like her cousin Sirius)
Part one
Bellatrix’s father Cygnus Black, was a man who was keenly aware of his position as the first-born son of the secondary branch of the Black family. He had always felt second best to his meek cousin Orion and longed to best him by being the first to secure the family line. An accomplishment that would be rewarded by gold and political office. To achieve his end, he married Druella Rosier, a beautiful witch with a good name, in a lavish ceremony which took place three days after his graduation from Hogwarts.
His new bride, was also keenly aware of her position as the only daughter of a family whose only asset was a respectable name. And although Druella had initially set her sights on Orion, she lacked the dowry and charm to secure him, so she married Cygnus instead (a match that her father still considered a coup).
After their honeymoon, Cygnus spent long hours at the Black family estate currying favour with Arcturus Black the titular head of the family, only returning home to deal with his marital duties.
Finally, after three years of marriage Druella fell pregnant and the couple basked in their collective dreams of glory and power. A dream that hinged on the baby having a penis. However, they were sorely disappointed.
Bellatrix Black was born in the drawing room of her parent’s Wiltshire house, on a cold November day, only to be met with the cold-disappointment of both her parents.
After being given a traditional Black family name, the infant girl was handed to a Nanny while her parents returned to the task at hand.
Her early childhood was characterised by loneliness and Bellatrix would often find herself retreating into a vivid fantasy world where she would slay dragons and complete quests. A fantasy which contrasted starkly to the small, featureless nursery to which she was often confined.
By age seven, she had two sisters and with the birth of her cousin Sirius, her parents' tenuous marriage began to fail completely.
Blazing rows would erupt between Cygnus and Druella. Rows which were so loud, they could be heard throughout the cavernous rooms of the manor. Cygnus would increasingly spend his days drunk, berating his wife and daughters for the misery his life had become. And on many occasions, singling out Bellatrix as the useless wretch who had cost him the glory that was his birth right as a Black. An opinion which was the only point of agreement between her parents.
A few weeks after the birth of her cousin Regulus, Cygnus moved his mistress into the property while regularly threatening his wife and children with destitution should they dare report it to Arcturus or their Grandfather Pollux .
Bellatrix was a precocious child and she used books as a means to fill the void inside her. The void where her parent’s love should have been. She read voraciously, and soon realised that her father was wrong. She was not a useless wretch but a member of nature’s nobility. A superior being who was born to rule over others as was the natural order. And Bellatrix, spent many hours recounting her readings to her sisters, as they cowered together during yet another row between his father and their mother, or their father and current mistress.
At age 11, she was sent to stay at the Black family seat in Kent. Here she was taught how to behave in a manner befitting her last name as she prepared for school.
At age 12, Bellatrix attended Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Slytherin house.
Transfiguration and Potions were a joy to her. She sat next to Rodolphus Lestrange in Defence Against the Dark Arts class, where they developed an immediate hatred for each other. In time, she grew to hate her inferior, vapid classmates.
She was a talented student and far surpassed every one in her year, yet she was keenly aware (as her mother before her) that her purpose in life was to make a good pureblood marriage and be her husband’s brood mare.
And the wild thing inside her chafed against this, she longed to make her mark on the world, and finally prove she was not a useless wretch.
At age 16, Bellatrix's beauty blossomed, and although she showed no interest in boys, it was not long before her parents arranged her marriage to Rodolphus Lestrange in exchange for a hefty dowry. The day Bellatrix was called into her father's study and told she would marry was the only time he ever expressed pride in her. Although it was a pride, rooted in her ability to bear children.
At age 18, Bellatrix and Rodolphus were married in a lavish ceremony attended by the more important branch of the family. And for the first time ever, Bellatrix truly understood what it meant to be a woman in this world. The walls seemed to close in on her as she observed the deference given to her cousin Sirius. A mere boy wielded more power than she could ever hope too. Despite her prodigious talent she would never escape the confines of her sex.

hii! do you know any other book that has the same story/dynamic between the protag and their foil like darklina (or what darklina could have been at least) or hannigram (with all the love that is consuming)? ive been recommended deathless and have bought it, but still i crave more. thank you!
you came asking to the right person, anon. this is the anthropological/artistic archetype i hold most dear. it can be found throughout the arts and as deep as in the pillars of pretty much every ancient mythology of the world.
deathless is definitely the superior literature choice here, one of the most beautiful books i've ever read. it sat on my shelf for years before only a few months ago i decided to pick it up, and yet it immediately become one of my ever favorites. i find it really closely matches my very own poetics and it was a pleasure and a honor to read. this is also true for hannibal tbh. brilliant, riveting. i guess we have a particular sweet tooth in common for exquisite Romances.
so, among the pairings i consider falling in this thrope/archetype (yet with some elasticity in gradients of beauty, archetype intensity and complexity), i'd probably name:
the phantom and christine (the phantom of the opera)
dracula and mina/elisabeta (dracula)
hades and persephone (greek mythology/books/movies/musicals)
apollon and cassandra (greek mythology)
vanessa and lucifer/dracula (penny dreadful)
tamara and the demon (the demon by lermontov)
faust and margherita (faust by goethe)
woland and margarita (the master and margarita)
koshei and marya (deathless)
the darkling and alina (the grisha trilogy)
elisabeth and death (elisabeth das musical)
voldemort and bellatrix (harry potter)
raistlin and crysania (legends by weis and hickman)
beauty and the beast (fairy tale)
prince sirki/death and grazia (la morte in vacanza/death takes a holiday)
joe black/death and susan (meet joe black)
elisabeth and the goblin king (wintersong)
sarah and jareth (the labyrinth)
vasilisa and morozko (the winternight trilogy)
hannibal and will (hannibal)
francis dolarhyde and reba (red dragon)
phèdre and kushiel (kushiel's legacy)
thomas and lucille (crimson peak)
cesare and lucrezia (the borgias)
klaus and caroline (vampire diaries)
lucifer and sabrina (chilling adventures of sabrina)
xena and ares (xena)
buffy and spike (buffy the vampire slayer)
the joker and harley (comics/movies)
lucifer and chloe (lucifer)
howl and sophie (howl’s moving castle)
edward and bella (twilight)
