Cast
No cast info for this specific movie yet
Dante Basco is attached as Zuko, reprising his role from ATLA
A global casting call is going out for Asian and Indigenous voice actors in their 20s for Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph
Janet Varney, the voice of Korra in TLOK (2012-2014) has announced that she doesn’t want to voice Korra in the future; she wants an Indigenous voice actor to voice Korra (Korra is from the Water Tribe in the world of Avatar, which is inspired by Indigenous culture in the real world). It’s possible other voice actors will make the same choice.
Characters we know will definitely be in this movie: Aang - previously voiced as a child by Zach Tyler Eisen in ATLA (2005-2008) and as an adult by D. B. Sweeney in TLOK (2012-2013) Katara (source: Avatar News) - previously voiced as a child by Mae Whitman in ATLA (2005-2008) and as an elder by Eva Marie Saint in TLOK (2012-2014) Zuko - see above “Aang[’s] friends”
Other
Three theatrical animated movies are currently in development at Avatar Studios
Each movie has a standalone story-- they’re not a trilogy-- so the story of this movie won’t be continued in the next movie after it
The second movie is focused on Zuko (source: Avatar News)
The third movie is focused on the new earth Avatar after Aang and Korra (source: Avatar News)
The image above is official canon art of the Gaang as adults, but it’s from the lead-up to the release of The Legend of Korra in 2012, not from this upcoming movie. Fun fact: it was drawn by Joaquim Dos Santos, co-showrunner of TLOK and director of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2024)!

2024 Reading Goals
Hello hello! Happy New Year to all!
Fun fact, by posting this at 11:00am GMT, 2023 has officially ended in all inhabited countries as UTC -11 is the last inhabited timezone.
I haven't been a resolutions person for a couple of years now but I admit I do love a challenge and goal setting. I also love reading. I'm sure you don't need the title to tell you where this is going. I've had goodreads since Sept, 2016 and have been taking part in their reading challenge since 2020. I've met my goal evey year except 2021 and I hope to make three years in a row this year!
2023's goal was an ambitious 48 books and I somehow managed to read 48 (I attribute a good 1/3 to getting a library card and access to libby). 18 of those books were comics/manga though and while I do believe anything with a ISBN counts, I'd like for comics & manga to only be about 25% of my books instead of the current 38%. I feel like I might be setting myself up a bit but I'm not going to be too upset if at the end of the year, I don't lower the percentage. This is just a bit of fun.
Anyways in no particular order, here's a tentative list of the 48 books I plan to read in 2024. This is subject to change due to availability, gifts, recommendations and new releases.

Comics I need more of in 2023
The Lonesome Hunters
Tumblr media
Tyler Crook’s both writing and drawing this series and it shows. I love the pacing, I love the emphasis on character. And apparently the next arc should kick off in either April or May, so I won’t have to wait too long for this.
Manor Black
Tumblr media
The wait between the first and second arc was a long one thanks to the pandemic, but I’m hoping this series will be allowed to pick up some momentum with a new arc in 2023. Ideally, I’d like to see a new arc each year—Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt have plans for many more stories, and I would love to read them.
Tales from Harrow County
Tumblr media
I don’t know how I’ll get through 2023 if we don’t get another arc of Tales from Harrow County. The second arc, Fair Folk, was left on a huge cliffhanger, and the third arc, Lost Ones, went sideways and told us a wildly different story that makes everything so much more epic and, of course, ended on another cliffhanger. The fourth arc will theoretically be dealing with the fallout from both these stories and I am in agony waiting for it.
The Night Eaters
Tumblr media
From Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda (somehow doing this new series while also doing a new arc of Monstress every year). This book was one of my highlights from 2022. Ipo is fantastic and I cannot get enough of her. There were times her dialogue had me laughing out loud.
Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra
Tumblr media
At the moment the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics are being written by Faith Erin Hicks, which is about as close to a perfect choice as I can imagine—she understands the age group, she’s a huge fan of the series, and she really loves to dig deep into character and express it through action. (There’re reasons why I always pick up a book if Hicks’s name is on it.) Most importantly, Hicks has said before how she’s reluctant to do an Azula story, because it’s a delicate balance—and frankly, I wouldn’t want anyone writing Azula unless they felt that way. Peter Wartman’s an excellent fit too, managing to tackle not just the character and action, but the world itself—the world is such a huge part of these comics! This is gonna be great.
Meanwhile, it seems The Legend of Korra comics have stalled for now. We got a short story anthology this year (Patterns in Time, which I have not read thanks to Nickelodeon locking Australia out of digitally distribution). My hope is that this book helped Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino find a team that can carry this series somewhat regularly.
The Bone Orchard Mythos
Tumblr media
We’ve already got Tenement and Starseed scheduled for 2023, but I’m hoping to see the beginning of some short stories or one-shots too. Shadow Eater can’t be collected until it has enough companions, after all. Plus, my favourite part of The Bone Orchard Mythos is seeing the creators play with different formats and that makes short stories very appealing to me.
Frankenstein
Tumblr media
Frankenstein and Lilja on a roadtrip in the New World. Sounds like a pretty great book to me.

Tumblr media
1) Technique section:
Konietzko claims that the idea for the series first came to him in the beginning of 2001 as he was imagining a young version of an old sketch of a middle-aged, balding man. While viewing a programme on explorers stranded at the South Pole, DiMartino, who was present, saw the sketch of the man herding bison in the sky.
"There's an air person along with these water people imprisoned in a frozen wasteland... and maybe some fire people are crushing down on them," Konietzko said when describing their early conception of the idea. The idea was successfully submitted by the co-creators to Nickelodeon vice-president and executive producer Eric Coleman two weeks later.
The series is renowned for drawing heavily on East Asian mythology and art to create its fictional setting. To help choose its surroundings and visual direction, its authors enlisted the aid of calligrapher Siu-Leung Lee and cultural advisers Edwin Zane. Its character designs draw inspiration from Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, Yoga, and Chinese art and history. Early on in the series' production, Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn collaborated to create the music and sound design; later, they divided the work, with Wynn handling the sound design and Zuckerman the music.
The "bender" characters' movements are inspired by Chinese martial arts, and Sifu Kisu of the Harmonious Fist Chinese Athletic Association served as a consultant for the design of these motions. Each fighting technique is exclusive to the "benders" who employ it or the characters who are connected with it. For instance, those who practise "waterbending" employ T'ai chi-inspired motions that are centred on alignment, body structure, breath, and visualisation. Hung Gar, chosen for its firmly planted postures and potent strikes as a depiction of the sturdiness of earth, served as the model for "earthbending" practitioners. To symbolise "firebending," the Northern Shaolin, which makes use of powerful arm and leg movements, was chosen. Ba Gua was utilised for "airbending," which involves dynamic circular movements and swift direction shifts. The earthbender Toph, who transforms into a praying mantis due to her eyesight, is seen practising the Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis technique. The portrayal of these martial art bending manoeuvres was influenced by Asian film.
This animation was done digitally using adobe software for the most part. It was the same technique as traditional animation but was done in a computer instead. From storyboarding (pre-production), to animating (production) and visual effect (post-production), they were all done mostly using computer software.
2) Representation section:
In the Asian-inspired world of Avatar, certain people have developed "bending" techniques that allow them to telekinetically control one of the four elements—earth, fire, water, or air. These techniques were influenced by Chinese martial arts. The "Avatar," the sole person capable of controlling all four elements, acts as a link between the material world and the spirit realm and is in charge of preserving peace among the four countries of the earth. The series uses images mostly from Chinese culture, with some East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, New World, Siberian, and Arctic influences. It is presented in a style that merges anime with American cartoons.
The twelve-year-old Aang, the current Avatar and the lone survivor of his nation, the Air Nomads, and his friends Katara, Sokka, and later Toph, set off on a mission to put a stop to the Fire Nation's conflict with the rest of the world. Along with his sage uncle Iroh, Zuko, the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, subsequently recruited his ambitious sister Azula to help him capture Aang in an effort to regain his lost glory.
3) Reception section:
For its characters, cultural allusions, art design, soundtrack, humour, and themes, Avatar: The Last Airbender was ratings hit and won praise from both viewers and reviewers. These topics include those in youth entertainment that are rarely discussed, such as war, genocide, imperialism, tyranny, indoctrination, and free will. Five Annie Awards, a Genesis Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Kids' Choice Award, and a Peabody Award were all won by the show. Many critics consider the programme to be among the best animated television programmes of all time.
In addition to a live-action picture and a planned live-action remake series made for Netflix, the expanded Avatar franchise also consists of continuing comics, prequel novels, animated sequels, and live-action films.  The entire series was made available to stream on Netflix in the US and Canada in May 2020, on Paramount+ in June 2020, and on Amazon Prime Video in January 2021. The Blu-ray release of the entire series took place in June 2018 to commemorate ten years since the series' finale.
I personally have not finished watching the series. I only started watching because it was such a popular show and I can get why. The whole production itself was very beautiful. I love how they used painting for their background, it reminds me of Ghibli animation. Story wise, it was well planned and detailed, which made the whole world building even more fascinating.

Hello, I want to contact the creators of the series Avatar the legend of Aang and Avatar the legend of Korra. Dear Michael Dante DiMartino and Brian Konietzko, not too long ago I had the idea to write a story for Avatar the legend of Korra. The comic will be about the time period between seasons 1 and 2. It will tell the story of the struggle of the Avatar team with the remnants of the forces of Amon who do not want to give up parts of the city. It will also be told in detail about the parents of Mako and Bolin and about the brothers themselves. Decided to call it "stranger from the past". The plot is ready, but also needs to be finalized. The story will be posted in future posts. If the creators of the series see this and you are interested, then please contact me. If a person who is interested in the story sees this, then mark like it. If someone has access to the authors, please send them this post. Thank you in advance.

#When will new avatar series come out series#
Netflix is currently working on an Avatar series, but the franchise's original creators are no longer involved. Night Shyamalan, which was critically panned and is derided by fans. That should mean we see season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine by March or April 2022 on Netflix outside of the United States. For the past three years (since the show moved to NBC), Netflix has gotten new seasons in Spring the following year. Less successful, however, was a live-action adaptation directed by M. Season 7, for example, landed on Netflix UK in March 2021 whereas Netflix Canada got it in April 2021. "Creator-driven stories and characters have long been the hallmarks of Nickelodeon, and Avatar Studios is a way to give Mike and Bryan the resources and runway to open up their imaginations even more and dive deeper into the action and mythology of Avatar as we simultaneously expand upon that world and the world of content available on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon."īeyond the two existing animated series, Avatar has branched out into comic books with some success. They contribute to the happiness of a lot of individuals and this show has become much more than just a show for a.
