I don't get why some people genuinely have to relate to character one to one or they don't like them, especially in terms of morals. like fair enough if that's your preference though I still don't get the appeal but if you change all the character's morals and other aspects of their personality to suit your preference/make it more like your personal ones, don't get mad when people don't want to do the same and keep it accurate and faithful. And especially don't treat them as bad of a person as they perceive and write that character to be themselves because you think it reflects it somehow.
Because I can't relate to Eggman being a selfish evil monsterous war criminal terrorist dictator and abusive murderous asshole who has no moral limits holding him back from doing anything no matter how fucked up and destructive to get what he wants (though some people try to act like I am for writing him as such lol)- but how different he is to me is actually specifically compels me. Sure I can relate and even be inspired by some small assets of him but he's still a very evil fucked up person and that sets us apart. It makes me want to explore his mind and find out how he ticks and his wildly different perception and views.
That's usually a huge part of why I love characters ranging from jerks and assholes to totally evil irredeemable monsters and Eggman is my favorite ever for being both, while also having a funny side that makes him interesting, badass, funny, and most importantly, entertaining. Relatability doesn't matter as long as it's entertaining. It's made me sad how it seems in recent years people can't seem to enjoy what they can't relate to and demand that from creators and get angry and accuse them of being terrible people if they don't. It's a close minded way of viewing fiction.
Purity culture and the idea that all characters must do the right thing or come from a place of believing they're doing the right thing instead of genuinely being a bad person and being happy with that is killing creativity. Fiction is made to explore anything we want and that includes anything and everything that we can't relate to as well. In fact, by not always relating it's more realistic because it focuses on how different we all are as people and we might not all understand each other but we're still all human- and regardless of everything else will always be able to relate in at least that one way.
Not every character needs to be a role model teaching you a moral lesson. How different a character can be and analyzing their thoughts, feelings, motives, morals, personality, and behavior without projecting in every area, instead embracing them for what they are and challenging yourself to write someone so different to you is a great thing and necessary skill in writing so all your characters aren't exactly the same. There are many ways to be both good and bad people and actually bad evil people as characters are just as important as good ones in storytelling.
I don't need Eggman to do all the things I would. I don't need him to be a good person, I don't need him to have my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. If I did, I'd write a self insert. He's a very different person and it's cool and interesting and makes him a blast to write and watch, to see him doing cool entertaining evil badass stuff I wouldn't do in real life- which I also shouldn't be accused of wanting. But I shouldn't be surprised that groups of people stuck in hiveminds would forget that people are different and that variety and differences are cool and appealing without being able to relate :P
Storytelling is a way to write characters we can't relate to just as much as ones that we can and I value that a lot. I will always enjoy writing, analyzing, and appreciating Eggman for just how different he is to myself and the creativity and the deep thinking to still try to understand him without being able to relate, the little things that I can such as his passion, creativity, and determination is nice but all the things I can't relate to interests me too. I like the challenge it gives me to capture it accurately and faithfully and not let too much projection or bias take over- it's really fucking fun.
Characters being different and challenging your perspective, real life morals, and preferences is a great thing. I'll always love writing Eggman doing things that interest me for being so different and even stuff that would disturb me in real life, just as much as the things I can relate to and see in him and even be inspired by in some areas. A character with the complexity of pulling off all at once is a sign of a very well written one and inspires a lot of creative thought. I'm sad that purity culture is sanitizing and removing everything that makes them interesting to make them all the same. I won't follow.

▌┊ CHARACTER STUDY // : MICAH'S CHARACTER INFO SHEET
Tumblr media
NAME : Michael " Micah " Astereus Xenowake
NAME MEANING : Michael / Micah ( Hebrew : " Who is like God? " ), Astereus ( Latin : " starry, bright one " ), Xenowake ( Unknown origin : Composed of two elements, xeno- " strange, foreign, unusual " and -wake, " wake, vigil, watch, period of guard duty " to form a meaning, " the strange watcher " ).
ALIAS(ES) : Saint Crychimera
ETHNICITY : Korean
THREE PICTURES YOU LIKE BEST OF YOUR CHARACTER :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THREE HEADCANONS YOU'VE NEVER TOLD ANYONE :
Micah is able to learn how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on about every known instrument. This was one of their personal goals that they had thought of when they were a preteen, specifically at a time when they were frustrated over the thought that they could never be able to play any instruments efficiently due to their slow processing speed and excessive forgetfulness. Before Micah picked up violin and can play it skillfully a few years, they made a goal to at least learn how to play the song in mention on every instruments.
Since childhood, Micah hold endless love and fascination in entities with monstrous natures and designs, fictional and reality. They always feel as they can relate and understand these beings when they lack connection with being human and humanity itself. While this does not have to be the case for general population, but as a personal choice, Micah uses they / it / xe pronouns as an intention to dehumanize themself like how monsters are referred to with these pronouns. Despite appearing as a human, Micah doesn't like to be seen as so as they lack reactions to being called with terms such as boy / man, girl / woman, person, etcetera. Being called a star, constellation, anything astro related are their most preferred term preferences of being perceived as and referred to.
Micah have a special interest in crows and ravens that are their ultimate favourite animals. When Micah was a child moving in between foster homes, they knew a group of them who they would always feed and play with. These animals usually followed where Micah went, even in different neighborhoods and towns. In a way, they were Micah's guardians who would check up on them and gave them trinkets. Since Micah was adopted into the Everlove family, they lost contact with them, although they ( along with Phoebus and Philos ) would never forget about these birds who had always been there with them like how the stars did when they had no one but themselves. Micah does occasionally see one or two at certain locations and in the ones where they wouldn't expect a raven or crow to roam in, they often wonder if these are the ones who they knew in their childhood. ( Micah likes to think they are so. )
THREE THINGS YOUR CHARACTER LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME :
Skygazing : Micah extremely enjoys gazing at the sky during early morning with the clouds and late night with the stars, appreciating the wonders above. This is one of the very few things Micah engages in since they were an infant and a passion that still exists within them after thirty years of living.
Art creating : This is a general broad hobby that Micah have that involves art in general with visual arts, literary arts, and performing arts, when Micah have equal amount of love in these three aspects while trying to take proportionate time with each of them. They love to self express and tell stories to others, so they always find the time and energy to create something and anything.
Learning : Micah loves to learn about everything, everyone, and everywhere. They are the kind of individual who would browse on Wikipedia and fall into the rabbit hole for hours learning about various people, places, and items across multiple topics. They wish to love and appreciate the world and universe, so they enjoy taking the time in learning and loving every little parts of existing.
EIGHT PEOPLE YOUR CHARACTER LIKES / LOVES : Warlock Moonglade, Adoniram Bloodburn, Sweetsilence, Steelstorm, Father Lucas Lovewright, the Starwake System, the Everlove family, You ( the Audience )
TWO THINGS YOUR CHARACTER REGRETS:
Not being able to save Adoniram from the fire : Although Adoniram turned out to be alive and Micah reunited with him in early June, two months after the event, this is the moment that brought out many fears that they have from losing their loved ones and not being able to at least say goodbye to those who they would lose ( since Phoebus soon fronted to protect the Starwake System and especially Micah ). Micah always felt they could've done more and believed it's their fault that they got caught up in the fire with their car, even though it is possible a Metaeidos was responsible for this assault that led to Micah and likely Adoniram becoming an Antigod.
Telling Phoebus, " I hate you " : While Micah and Phoebus reconciled and have a stronger relationship since the near end of season two, Micah holds an eternal deep shame and regret in their mistreatment towards Phoebus since learning about their existence and getting official diagnosis of their Dissociative Identity Disorder. The mistreatment involved Micah ignoring Phoebus, repressing them as to unable give them full access to their body and brain, and saying that one line to them at their lowest point. Micah held high uncertainty and fear towards their starmates, especially Phoebus who they thought was overcontrolling and overprotective, but Micah couldn't see that everything Phoebus did was only out of love based on how they were raised and treated collectively by others. Micah never told anyone they hated them but Phoebus being the first and only, and it broke Micah to see that they said it to the first person in their life who had only ever loved them.
TWO PHOBIAS YOUR CHARACTER HAS:
Claustrophobia : The fear of being in enclosed or crowded spaces. Developed during early childhood with few experiences of being locked within small spaces by abusive foster families. This prevents them from wanting to stay in buildings for a long period of time as they often have the need to go out in open space.
Aleotophobia : The fear of making mistakes or not being good enough, of imperfection. Developed due to the abuse and bullying they experienced growing up since childhood. These experiences shape their view and treatment towards themself where they feel as they always have to make the best choices and judgement, otherwise they will be shunned or abandoned.

an escape from her own mind [Aemond Targaryen AU!]
part 1  part 2
pairing: Aemond Targaryen x fem!reader
summary: a silver boy that seeks company to release his own nightmares that follow him even in the lightest places crushes into a heavy reader that seeks alone time in her own world of fantasies.
word count: 1.461
A/N: please don't be too harsh on judging it, i’m still learning so be patient with me. reblogs and comments are grateful appreciated, I am always open to new ideas and suggestions. I should mention that english is not my first language.
this is a work of AU! fiction utilising characters from HBO’s House Of The Dragon series.
Tumblr media
“I didn’t liked the last book at all, it was too cliché. I mean… every book you read is cliché, but that one, too much. Don’t you ever get bored of those books?”
“Don’t you ever get bored on complaining on the books you wanted to learn more from?” He makes a grimace at her before opening the caffe door. This was already a routine for them, every Wednesday and every weekend they spend time together. As he promised to buy her the coffee in exchange of her reading for him. They also made a deal that he will keep a journal that she is not allowed to read until they finish ten books. That journal should answer all of her questions, she thought. Waiting in line to get the precious coffee, that she feels she can’t function properly without, she asks.
“Why don’t you ever drink coffee?” “I prefer fine wine to keep me alive during the day” With that, it was their turn to order and before she could speak, he beat her to it, ordering her favourite cup of coffee. “You remembered’ She said with a little bit of shock and blush on her face. “You order that every time, how could I not” With a pout on her soft lips she thought
“Why don’t we stay here a little bit more for me to drink the coffee and you can get yourself some cake” He looked at her and ordered some sweets too.
Tumblr media
Staying opposite her, he silently wrote on his notebook while she was bragging about the new collection of books that her favourite author just published. When she sees the silver haired boy doesn’t particularly listens to her, she gets up and slides next to him on the couch to get his attention. “there is something you need?” he asks without even looking at her. “only a little bit of your cake. it looks good. Can i?” “go ahead” he pushes the plate in front of her. “after you finish i think it’s time to head off the library to get some time on that reading.” She doesn’t say anything, only nods her head and digs in the sweet pastry.
Time had passed and they were heading to the library. She already had in mind what book should be started, she believes that this time he will like it more since it has more action than actual romance.
Opening the door for her as usual, they head off first to a shelve that holds fantasy books. She eyes the specific book but her height is not doing her any favour. He lets out a heavy sigh and gets behind her to reach the book. She can feel the heat that his body leaves, his addictive scent, she closes her eyes to enjoy every aspect of him more, that’s until he clears his throat. Embarrassed she questioned “Why don’t you read this time?” He looks at her and frowns his eyebrows “I found out recently that I quite enjoy your voice.”
Heading to their little corner she stays to think of something he will enjoys and she adds “I will braid your hair if you do” he would actually love that, but she doesn’t have to know, but also is tempting “Sure, fine. But only today” With excitement she gets a chair for her while he will sit on the floor to start reading. Her frail fingers brush gently in his smooth and long hair. She can feel how well he takes care of it like a precious part of him. At her touch he closes his eye craving for more, he remembers the book in his hands, sighing he opens it and starts reading enjoying her touch more.
Tumblr media
“I don’t understand why would someone start a revolution for a simple girl” He comments on the chapter that was just read. “That” she giggles “Is called love” “No, that is just purely stupidity.” He explained. “You can express your love in other ways. Ways that don’t intend to kill you or your dearest” She ties his braid and adds “Oh look, someone is learning way faster than expected”
He closes the book and turns around to look at her “I have a good teacher” he said while smirking at her. The blush on her face gives him enough satisfaction for now “It gets late, it’s time to head off” She clears her throat and answers while getting up “Yes, you are right” When they get to the exit they find out that it started raining and it doesn’t give any sign that it will stop soon. Luckily the librarian had an extra umbrella that they can use and return it the next time they come there. “I don’t live too far, you can take it” she pleaded.
“You will get sick and I don’t intend to be responsible for that” he adds “I will get you home first and then I can go in my way” she agrees and starts leading the way to her apartment. The walk was quiet and quick as she claimed. “You should come to dry first and I can make an exceptional tea in meantime” He doesn’t let out a word but follows her inside.
Leaving their coats on the hanger, she shows him the way to the small couch. She didn’t had a big place, only the necessity, a room with a couch and a tv, the small kitchen, one bedroom and a bathroom, for her it was enough. All she needed was a place to sleep and keep her many exotic plants. He roams in the room inspecting the pretty flowers that hang on. “I didn’t know you like that much flowers” “You don’t know a lot about me, I might be a serial killer” She says loudly from her kitchen. Taking one more look at her roses he heads off to her. “I might be a killer too” he whisper, being close, too close to her. She turns around to look at him and show him she is not afraid. Some of his hair escaped the braid due to the wind.
If you ask her, he was looking majestic in that moment, the white hair was completing his blue eye, the eyepatch was looking good him, she will not lie about it. His tall figure was touring her, one of his hands was gripping on the table behind her. His pinkish lips were close to her plump ones, she was feeling the connection as much as him “The tea will get cold” she says looking away. “I.. yes you are right” Heading to the sitting room in a suffocating silence with the hot hibiscus tea she just made. “I wanna apologise for my act” he says while getting himself on the soft couch.
“Please do not apologise” she said “I didn’t mind it” she whispers it more for herself hoping he will not hear, but luck is not on her side. After taking a first sip, smirking he compliments on her skills of making tea “My sister taught me how to make it” she blushes “Do you have any brothers or sisters?” He laughs for a bit and shakes the notebook “you will find out when you read my lady” shock, that’s what you can read on her face
“I guess those silly books, as you liked to call them, have a good impact on you sir” they both laugh at the silly conversation.
Tumblr media
“I should get going” She looks outside and sees the rain has stopped but it’s getting darker. Getting up, he gets the coat and wait on the doorway for one of them to say something. “Good night, I will see you on this weekend to continue the book” she looks up at him but doesn’t say a word, just nods her head. Turning around and prepared to make one step he feels a soft hand gripping his “Is there something wrong?” he asks confused. She gets on her tiptoes, grips gently with her free hand on his collar and kisses his cheek “Good night to you too” her soft voice says.
He shakes himself from the shock, his hands find the way to her waist, he pulls her closer, goosebumps swarming every part of her body, he locks eyes with her and pulls her face closer, the moment he was craving for secretly happens, he kissed her, on her pinkish and plum lips, their eyes are closer trying to enjoy the moment as much as they can. When they brake the kiss, it leaves a tingly feeling. “Indeed a very good night” he smiles truly at her and says his goodbye.
The feelings she was having left her waiting to meet him again impatiently.

I guess for me it depends on the context of how he calls her “weak” by frustration but idk if I still like it. I think the writers were trying to make a parallel with him calling viserys weak. I’m just mostly nervous because this is the last episode before season 2 and who knows if the writers are going to mess it up with mysaria or even nettles. Ryan doesn’t seem to like them either with the way he said daemon abused rhaenrya and it’s shapes her to how she is so I wouldn’t be surprised if he ruins the relationship moving forward. Also apparently they don’t talk about it afterwards according to the leaks which is weird in my opinion and how he doesn’t apologize. I’m sure we’ll get the context of why he wants to go to war in the scene but idk… I can’t help but be nervous cus this could be the downfall of their relationship. Who knows if we’ll get any touching moments anymore
DAEMON AND THE ABSOLUTE LOVE.
Well, there is a possibility that their romantic relationship will end, yes.
Which would be stupid considering that Daemyra is the best couple ever created in the entire GOT universe.
And yet one thing I've learned from Daemon is that: Once he loves someone, he loves that person forever. Just like he did with Viserys.
The more I analyze Daemon the more I am convinced that the fundation of his emotions is not romantic love, the fundation of his emotions is absolute love. That kind of love that exists only for itself, regardless of any relationship and appreciates all aspects of the people Its directed to. Daemon will always be what Rhaenyra needs: her husband, her lover, the father of her children, her consort, her family, her soldier, her uncle, or her warrior. She just has to ask him honestly and if he opposes her wishes I think he will be to protect her or their family.
His romantic feelings for Rhaenyra are only the effect and not the cause of his absolute love for her. Daemon will never stop loving Rhaenyra no matter what happens and whatever she does.
We have all been somehow contaminated with Disney fantasies and children's fairy tales where the prince always has to profess his love with dramatic speeches, kisses or sexual acts and emotional talks of apology if he offends his delicate princess.
But we usually forget that those things are not the only ones that show that a person truly loves us.
Still, unfortunately we always hurt those we absolutely love, sometimes in irreparable ways that cause us to take differents ways . And that's fine. We should never stay close to someone who hurts us. But but we can always love someone from the distance, even if we never see them again but, if our hearts allow it, we can always love someone who has hurt us.
Honestly, at the moment, romance is the last thing I care about Daemyra. Yes, I enjoy it. But I can also enjoy true and unconditional love stories even if there is no romance involved.
I understand that there are many who do not like that idea. So don't feel bad if the course of their story disappoints you. Trust me, I have experienced the same situation and the truth is that no one has ever died for disappointment. It is better not to take things so seriously, after all it is only a television series. I am sure that at some point you will find a couple in fiction that you completely like.
And i don't think Daemon will ever apologize in words for his actions. He seems more like the kind of person who apologizes only through his actions.
He never told Viserys "I'm sorry"
And for that reason his relationship with his brother was "ruined" ?

so consider this just me yapping into the void
ya know as I usually do
rather than anything like. actually directed or anything.
SO
if y'all are new and/or managed to avoid hearing me gab about it I'm aromantic (+ some flavor of bisexual)
now then for those of y'all who haven't learnt it by now there are a lot of different ways to be aromantic, and one aspect of this is being repulsed by romance in general as a Thing or not
and that includes every other feeling on it in between including being just kinda meh on it which is about where I stand, though when it's done WELL or something like -gestures @ Nereus and Lahabrea- happens in my brain, I'm all for it
(just in fiction not with myself lol)
and as someone who just does writing/fanfic as a hobby strictly for funsies I'm quite alright with, literally, just writing whatever the fuck I want--if y'all like it y'all like it and if y'all don't then fuck it the like four weirdos who Understand Me probably will at least appreciate it and they're mostly who I'm writing to lmao
so I very much have one foot in the camp of write what's meaningful to YOU, don't chase the numbers, the numbers are poison and you will hate everything you do if it's all you care about
...at the same time though, it does kinda suck to create and then have like, no one give a damn, because part of writing is in the sharing and having a creative effort be met with blank stares and glacial silence is uh
a BAD fuckin feeling! even when it's really no one's "fault" per se! and even when I'm a wholehearted believer in if it mattered even to one person, even if that person's yourself, it was still worth it!
so I think y'all can kinda get why my hackles go up about the whole notion of like. needing to include romance for anything to even have a chance to be recognized at all
how many people's shit doesn't even get read because there's not a fuckin ship in it
how many people made themselves hate their own stories and creative output because they kept having to write something they hated in order for it even to get seen
like sure, sometimes I do like romance in fiction, sometimes I even fucking write it and on rare occasions I get severely into it to the point that I'm rotating it in my head like the shawarma
but fucking hell I wish people in general would broaden their goddamn horizons every once in a while or something idk
(and also not automatically interpret every non-acquaintance relationship as "romantic" but that's another kettle of fish)

far be it from me to interrupt the unnecessary character hate train some folks in this fandom insist on having but I have to say, what seemed a little unnecessary but still somewhat understandable from a separate POV in season 1 just doesn't make any sense now- that is, of course, a time-honored fandom pasttime of trying to force a character into the role of villain against the actual narrative. it's nothing new ofc I've seen it happen in just about every fandom I've been in and I've learned that there usually isn't a point in trying to debate with people that have made up their minds this way and with the way I've tagged this I'm probably just preaching to the choir but like...it seems to me this whole season is ALL about being flawed, the ways in which every character in the cast (beloved or otherwise) has flaws and issues that have hurt others, but most significant, the ways in which a person can grow and learn and mend and still deserve to be loved despite everything. this isn't really a story where you can pick out the 'good ones' with completely clean moral slates from those you've decided are irredeemable unless you're choosing to ignore the actual themes being presented (which like, fine, but that's a choice of interpretation that goes directly against what's actually there). Everyone has been victim of someone else. Everyone at this point has inflicted some kind of hurt on someone else. Stede hurt Ed, Ed hurt Stede, Ed hurts Izzy, Izzy hurt Ed, Ed hurt Lucius, Lucius hurt Black Pete and so on and so on and so on. There's really no one here who is just a completely blameless uwu victim and that's actually a good thing because most of us just fucking aren't either, as much as we may want to believe that or think of ourselves as morally superior to others bc of fictional characters we like or don't or whatever, as much as we may be caught up in our own victimhood (which I absolutely get I've found myself there many times too) we're all flawed, we've all hurt people, there's no getting through life without doing it at some point. it's not really about having or trying to manufacture the image of a clean moral slate, it's about learning and growing and trying to do better the next day and accepting those flaws with a gentle grace. the sooner some of yall wrap your minds around that truth the better off you're going to be, and maybe a good start is learning from these flawed, imperfect, sometimes hurtful characters that we've grown to love because we see ourselves in their actions.
some poignant takeaways from the last couple of eps I think are 1) when Fang suggests to Ed he should try sitting with himself for a bit instead of trying to talk through and shallowly justify everything. I think everyone can benefit from doing this, as so often we think of things from an external perspective rather than internal. It can be hard to introspect rather than blame the world or others and construct little superficial rituals that make us feel momentarily superior (like, idk, deciding one character in a show is the 'bad guy' and anyone who likes him is bad but not you you're not bad bc you don't like him so you must be a better person even though this involves you picking fights and harassing people trying to enjoy themselves, idk, just a random example). It's so much harder to ask yourself why you feel a certain way in the first place, to ask yourself if it's possible that you see aspects of yourself in a character you despise that you're not willing to face within, things about yourself you've buried deep and pretend don't exist at the cost of being 'morally superior'. It's possible, isn't it? Would it hurt to be still for a moment and think about that? I mean, maybe it would, quite possibly it would hurt a lot at first, but I think it's worth it in the end, far more than the effort to put up a morally superior front that no one even has.
the other one that I think the people I'm actually addressing won't appreciate because of who it involves- when Izzy gives Lucius the carved shark and explains that not moving on is worse than doing what is necessary to actually move on. Not necessarily advocating for lying to oneself (tho if I were a more reckless person I might say this can be a genuine bandaid tactic when you're in survival mode and just need to get to the next day, I get that too) but I do think there's a good point here about learning to let go of the things that only gnaw away at us inside. holding on to anger and spite can feel like a form of justice in the short term, but over time it only corrodes the host. at some point, at some time, to truly heal we have to figure out how to let go of certain things, if only so it won't poison us further. Lucius threw Ed overboard the same way he did to him, but ultimately it didn't help, did it? What changed was seeing the way his obsession with his hatred hurt the man he loved, what changed was introspection.
So, idk, really good show, very educational and emotionally aware and I think some of us could benefit from paying more attention to what's actually there than what we want to believe. Idk, it's a thought.

books ive read recently and my thoughts about them
Scythe and it's sequels, Thunderhead, The Toll & Gleanings
makes me want to debate/disscuss alllll off the ethics & morality it touches on. interesting portrayal of AI and exploration of the morality of death. The ending of the series was logical, and I don't think I dislike it, it's just not my thing. Definitely something I wish we'd studied in highschool english back in the day instead of like, the great gatsby. worth a read if you want sci-fi that's not set in space
Raybearer and it's sequel, Redemptor
it was pretty good. felt like a breath of fresh air. enjoyed the portrayal of non-romantic love and the complicated feelings one can have towards terrible parents. good message, if a little heavy-handed. Wish the real world could fix its class divides and undo capitalism that easily. also wish we got to know more of the 12 better, though with only 2 books and a whole lot of stuff to get through, it's understandable they weren't explored much. read ella enchanted if you especially enjoyed the first book
Wizard of Earthsea trilogy
have never been so fucking validated for my run-on sentences by a book before. Excellent prose and imagery - i could eat those visual metaphors. I enjoyed the first book the most, the sequels slightly less so. have yet to read the side books. will definitely impact my writing style in the future. I <3 Usula Le Guinn
Spinning Silver (By Naomi Novik)
As good as my friend said it would be. Very fairytale-like, enjoyably lengthy, and sated my recent desire for jewish fiction. Could sometimes be hard to keep up with the POV changes sometimes, but that is my one and only criticism. Damn good book.
Uprooted (Also by naomi novik. actually the rest of the list is by her)
oughhh i loved the horror vibes. nice buildup, good tension, also fairytale-like, but in a different, twisted flavour. I liked that the 'big bad' being killed wasn't an instant fix in the ending: there was still work to be done. I really liked the interactions and chemistry between the three main characters, though I wish kasia and the POVcharacter had also gotten together (though i can't complain with the pairing the book did go with - the sex scene is really well done, even if it isn't as explicit as the erotica I usually frequent). I kept expecting them to get together, because frankly they both give off sapphic vibes. ah well
Scholomance trilogy
out of uprooted, spinning silver, and Scholomance, i'd rank scholomance as my favourite, then spinning silver, then uprooted. The storyline in this one is just especially well crafted: everything just comes together so satisfyingly, so neatly, with not a stray end in sight. I love the mystery aspect to it, and the relationship bewteen the main characters, and ESPECIALLY the school. It's like hogwarts but ten times as interesting and four times as dark and with 0 transphobic authors. THIS is how you design a magic school, people! I've always appreciated good setpieces (say, like in the Old Kingdom series and even the Inheritance Cycle) and the school for sure counts as one. Also did I mention the mystery aspect? This thing will have you hooked.
Temeraire series (up to halfway through Empire of Ivory)
Really love this!! I love dragons, especially ones that talk, and this has that in droves. Feels also very grounded, which is surprising for a dragon book: it's set in the 1790s during the napoleonic wars, and is, as far as I can tell, pretty faithful to the time period. except for, you know, the dragons. I enjoy seeing how the POV character grown as a person throughout the books, and how he interacts with others. Mans loves his dinner conversations. I enjoy Temeraire, the dragon, a lot, though for some reason I keep thinking he's a she/her??? for no reason?? it keeps throwing me off that he's not and i don't know why! you'd think 4 books in i'd have gotten the memo that hes a guy! anyways. manages to make me care about side characters that get like, at most, a page of content, which is impressive to me. very travelogue-esque. excited to see where the series goes!

Do you think tumblr's nonchalant way of talking and attributing neurodivergiant diagnosises to charachters or traits/behaviours is in an ironic way ableist too by turning it into a trendy chic catchphrase or zodiac-like joke? Like I imagine the people who are margenalized because of these labels feel weird seeing Crona wearing a "autism-meme" tshirt, but maybe I'm wrong
I don’t think I can speak well to this. I don’t identify as neurodivergent, I haven’t gone in for formal diagnosis--and just about any time I have been referred to as neurodivergent, it has been to insult me (for example, “I should have expected this response that I don’t appreciate from someone like you--Asperger boy!”).
This is a wordy way of saying, I’m going to get a lot wrong below, so I welcome feedback.
As far as I can say as someone who identifies as neurotypical, I usually assume such remarks as being said by people who are neurodivergent who are self-identifying by the content they encounter and how they want to present themselves, so I hesitate to interject with what I see or read: if it’s a for-us by-us situation, I don’t think I’m in a position to criticize, unless it becomes particularly egregious.
In response to more specific examples that you are giving:
Again, when it’s nonchalant, I usually anticipate the person speaking is neurodivergent themselves.
I think attributing neurodivergent diagnosis is mostly harmless, although it still runs the risk of getting wrong traits to conditions, romanticizing those traits in the characters and by extension the risk of attempting an amateur diagnosis on real-life people and therefore romanticizing what real-life people are going through.
The reason I think it’s mostly harmless is that it is trying to figure out those aspects of these conditions by interpreting literature and writing your own stories--to see how the aspects of characterization fit together leading to an understanding about this character and maybe about the condition itself. But even if the intentions are mostly good, if the results are perpetuating stereotypes, or misdiagnosing, or impeding on a real person’s privacy and diagnosing them, then the intentions don’t matter, the results were bad.
I don’t think anyone who is neurodivergent is using neurodivergent attributions of fictional characters to be trendy. I do see some irony in it--again, a for-us by-us approach that those within a community appreciating themselves and being self-effacing as a way to respond to what it is like being neurodivergent. And it’s a way to identify, whether to see yourself in something you’re familiar with, to have it make sense for yourself, or to show someone else, “Hey, this is what it’s like for me.”
All of this said, again, as someone who identifies as neurotypical but has had people derisively refer to me as neurodivergent as a way to insult me, I can see some remarks that I think, “Um, I’m not sure that’s cool to make that kind of a remark, regardless who the person making the remark identifies.” You can’t control who is in your audience--but you better know who is in your audience to minimize the risk that some jackass misunderstands your point and weaponizes it to further their disablist agenda. A creator can’t anticipate every last thing a bad-faith audience member will do to with their content, but they should take every precaution they can to minimize that chance of weaponization to harm. Again, you run the risk of romanticizing, or making people thinking they can make those kinds of jokes when they aren’t in the community. It’s a case by case basis.
Generally, I try to be optimistic that most people finding neurodivergency in characters are helping normalize neurodivergency, to treat this as who this character, this person, is, jus as they would accept such qualities in the people around them in their lives.

Honestly coming from being heavy in the Sterek fandom for years we THRIVED on AUs. like, sure, werewolves, fun. But also Merthur, Destiel, Malec, etc. big name ships (with their own fandom problems, but that's not the point lol) with heavy supernatural content very specific to each source materiel. That's fun for a while, but it gets stale QUICK. Usually fandoms live and die off of AUs. It's one of the most fun and interesting and creative parts of fandoms. I've also literally never seen this happen in any other fandom and it is the weirdest, mind boggling situation. I can't fathom why anyone would WANT to stunt themselves from being creative. From asking, 'What if?' That's one of the best parts of fandoms. Just speculating and pondering. ESPECIALLY if the source material lets you down, you always have the what ifs to fall back on for entertainment. It used to be, honestly, fandom could create such interesting content that the show commonly failed in comparison. It just couldn't hold a candle to how people can create such beautiful, interesting things out of virtually nothing. Maybe it came with the death of weekly releases, where we spent a week each episode hypothesizing. IDK I wish there was a way to change it but. Shows almost over so. IDK maybe when the show is dead people will get off everyone's back and move to a new show, so the ones who are interested in being creative will be able to create in peace.
Don't like don't read is a very common statement but it shouldn't be needed for just everything ever in a specific ship. Why are you even in a ship to begin with if you're gonna hate on every possible thought. It's as if people can't separate fact from fiction? Canon from fanon? There's nothing wrong at all with making stuff up for the fun of it. If you only want source material content... go watch the show? Why are you participating in fandom if everyone is suddenly not allowed to change one fraction of an inch of it? I understand appreciating the source materiel, but I also don't see why it's a problem to take that source materiel and flip it on it's head. Why do people care so much...? IDK. I don't even publish my stuff (this might be partially why lmao) but it's still super frustrating. Sorry for ranting in your inbox lol Sorry you get so much flak for literally no reason
hello ! i've got nothing to add to what you said; i've been in a lot of fandoms too and you're completely right !! au's are the way things survive in periods of inactivity / after the show (movie, manga or whatever) ends !!! so it is indeed frustrating when people actively sabotage this huge aspect of fan media :\
please don't apologise for ranting, and thank you for being so kind ! i hope you have a great day or night (and that this anti-au wave passes at last >.< ) !!

I watched a movie made in this century and everyone is very impressed
On Friday I watched 2021's THE GREEN KNIGHT. I really liked it! I had a good time! I am not a person who knows or understands movies, particularly contemporary movies (whereas when I'm having attacks of confidence, I can usually acknowledge I have Some book knowledge)!
I did, however, do a seminar in medieval literature and so I've studied the actual text of "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and similar poems.
The thing I really liked about THE GREEN KNIGHT is that it FEELS like an adaptation of the 14th century poem, instead of an adaptation of a modern text based on a telephone game version of an Arthurian legend hodgepodge. It's dirty and unglamorous and sexual, instead of pristine chivalric. None of these things mean it's drab, though. I'm used to people approaching the Arthurian legend with a heavy chivalric fantasy lens, with genre fiction writers especially leaning into the fantasy element, or armed with the HISTORICAL FIGURE OF KING ARTHUR mindset which for some reason translates as drab still historically inaccurate stabbing with horses.
(There is a third popular approach, which is weirdass time travel reincarnation but I think that's mostly in books and comics.)
When I say THE GREEN KNIGHT is dirty, I mean it in a textured way, rough and crumbling stone, scrubby moss, sticky blood, lived in and rotting in a natural way. Because the thing about THE GREEN KNIGHT is that it hits the strange space medieval literature was created in by acknowledging and embracing the clash between the pre-literate paganism and the literacy brought with Christianity (moreso than the centuries after the fact recordings of stories from Norway and Iceland). David Lowery clearly favours the natural pre-Christian state and a return to same, which may be the most modern aspect of the adaptation, with the King and Queen heavily adorned with holy imagery while being sickly and faded even when compared to the Mother, and the first thing Gawain encounters leaving the city being the rotting remains of a massive battlefield being pecked over by scavengers. Things become more vibrant and alive the further Gawain gets from this core of Christian civilization, even though it becomes increasingly dangerous.
In a lot of medieval literature, we encountered a tendency where the non-Christian elements were TOTALLY RAD while we also had to acknowledge the order and rules and hierarchy of Christianity was Good, even if it wasn't nearly as TOTALLY RAD as a half-demon baby biting off the nipples of many, many wet nurses.
Even though Lowery's take on the inevitable return to nature is contrary to the righteous Christian goals of the original text (although not so much in "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" as it is in other works), the result is much the same in the nature of Gawain's quest. The strangeness and danger and beauty of the natural world, the conflict of chivalric codes and the rules of folklore, the fact that the plot stems from Gawain's flaws as a person. Strange things happen and they're accepted with minimal question. A part of the world that is frightening but still known to exist.
Portrayed by Dev Patel, Gawain's flaws are less character flaws than they are the correctable flaws of youth. He's impulsive, quick to act and slow to think, and naïve in both halves of the world. It lets the character journey become one of maturation through the quest, rather than being an archetype going through the steps of a quest.
It was just a good time. Beautiful and sometimes hypnotic and ambiguous in a way I appreciate both because of the inherently ambiguous, 'lost' nature of these source texts, and also because it makes the real goal of the quest an inner question of self without tying it to outside validation for Gawain.

I had a teacher in a introductory to film mentioned that in order to enjoy a film- you need to have a “suspension of disbelief” while watching it. Reaction videos of artists on social media- posted & viewed by amateurs to professionals can be fulfilling and/or lucrative to a point. As a fan consuming music or art, you get a deeper appreciation with further knowledge. A YT making the video said he enjoyed various artists’ work but in the process didn’t need to know all the personal details…
But in SM, eventually background info is shared to “understand the context” to appreciate it even more. One poster mentioned higher traffic with content from certain fanbases- so it’s deliberately chosen. Remember TS’s “Blind for love” Gucci hoodie LWYMMD reference “Love is Blind” Eros (aka Cupid) & Psych? (Sad story). Fans react strongly a negative or positive. Flaws can be damaging- “to err is human” which is inevitable-so for a person placed on a higher plane- the fall may be “fatal.”
this is one of my favorite topics because i connect to it and find it very complex - suspension of disbelief is certainly necessary for fiction to a degree. when you're watching a group of characters traverse a magical world, or seeing people burst into song onstage, or reading a tragic romance, and so on!, you have to be able to set aside certain boundaries and logic and immerse in that world being created, which typically has its own rules and design. even when something is ostensibly set in "our" world, with recognizable features and figures and guides, there's still a blurring that happens with fiction. we're meant to suspend that to appreciate the story, and then we apply our own subjective interpretations, emotions, experiences, beliefs, to that. knowing about a writer's background can impact how one looks at a story (in positive and negative ways depending on the circumstance), but death of the author can come into play too, where one chooses to provide a meaning separate to authorial intent or background.
with something like music, this becomes more difficult, particularly when it's highly personal and/or autobiographical/diaristic. CAN you listen to any artist knowing absolutely nothing about them and still enjoy their work? absolutely! and i certainly do! but you aren't ever quite getting a whole picture, or a full expanse of what an artist is conveying. knowing details enhances the breadth of the work, and i do find that i connect more compassionately to artists who speak to me as human beings. "As a fan consuming music or art, you get a deeper appreciation with further knowledge." yes. and then you can ask, is knowing details intrusive? it's impossible to make a definitive decision on this. fans wanting to know about their favorite artists' lives and experiences is as old as art itself, and has always been an aspect of modern pop culture, most assuredly heightened and ingrained with the beginnings of hollywood and the modern music industry. it's why there's always a market for memoirs. there is so much we absorb without even intending to at times. i couldn't begin to trace how i might know a given fact about an artist because it's usually an aspect of me following along with their career - unless you disengage entirely from other media and coverage, the stories are bound to get through, and that in turn influences your perspective on what they've created. this can be very enriching - knowing the paths they've taken, the heartbreaks, the triumphs, certain loves and losses - is connective across the work, but it also makes it inextricable, since once you know...you know. it doesn't preclude us from having personal interpretations as well, these things exist simultaneously, but it does indelibly give us insight into the artists' personal experiences. i don't believe it's wrong or irresponsible to try and empathize with/understand that, or to discuss it, when it helps to humanize and bring forth meaning from the work. it can be done respectfully and using the details and truths we know from the artists themselves. it just requires a certain amount of care.
that said, social media has certainly worsened this and made it more difficult for artists to escape, and that has notable downsides. i don't believe human flaws or mistakes from someone should ever be ruinous (unless it's something actually terrible like abuses, harmful prejudices, etc, but you know what i mean). everyone is going to mess up and stumble eventually, and there's a little too much reveling in mockery sometimes rather than extensions of grace. i also feel like the pedestal is a dangerous thing, and for me personally, it's helpful and grounding to know more about the PERSON, not the idol or the icon, to feel that empathy and recognize that reality, because then the pedestal doesn't matter, it becomes a more genuine expression of connection to their work. while we still keep respectful lines in place, i do believe we can analyze, we can put pieces together, we can follow a journey and the stories being shared, we can discuss the scope of that, and we can find the human heart at the center of things, and it brings illumination and wholeness to the art itself.

Just by channeling in a sort of character in your demeanour can drastically change how other people view you. you might be wondering “hey this is a bit much just for school,” and ur right but it’s all fun at the end of the day

femme fatale: noun
an attractive and seductive woman, especially one who is likely to cause distress or disaster to a man who becomes involved with her.
"a femme fatale who plays one man off against another in pursuit of money"
a femme fatale is a women who shows power through how well she can toy with a mans brain. in hindsight she might seem like a women catered to the male gaze due to the strong enchantment she has upon men, but do not be fooled. a femme fatale is a strong willed and powerful women who only caters to her own needs. she achieves her goals by seducing her pawns to use them to her own advantage. channeling in the characteristics of a femme fatale can make one feel powerful, sexy, and oh so alluring. to become a femme fatale you must ooze with seduction. femme fatale examples include gilda, from the movie “gilda”, jane smith from “mr. and mrs. smith, and amy dunne from “gone girl”.
feel powerful when you walk from one place to another. let other people stare at you while they feel intrigued by ur allure but never completely give them what they want.
make your appearance look bold and striking. be sexy. dress to show off what other people want for themselves. wear dark and luxurious colours. let your hair be free and voluptuous. a bold lip and sharp eye makeup brings attention to the most seductive parts of your face. a femme fatale is nothing without a striking appearance
have your voice sound like smooth whiskey. speak slow to captivate others. make sure your voice comes out prominent and clear. add a slight rasp into your voice. each word u speak should be carefully chosen. people should be addicted to hearing you speak. be sassy and smart but always with class.
smell expensive. pick a scent that exudes class. examples: black orchid by tom ford. mugler alien. good girl by carolina herrera.
a femme fatale makes sure to always get her way. don’t be afraid to use ur seductive quality’s to get what u want whether that is good grades or social status. [ however do not put urself in dangerous positions. please don’t sleep with a teacher lmao ]

coquette: noun
a woman who flirts.
in my own definition a coquette to me is a girl who is delicate and radiates innocence. she is more commonly known as the girl next door or the pretty girl. people become attracted to this essence due to the childish ways of a coquette. though that sounds concerning, a coquette isn’t a women who tries to act like a child on purpose. she is just a women who is naturally sweet and innocent. they hold onto a childlike quality that the rest of us have lost and so desperately crave. the allure of the coquette is ultimately her adorableness. her demeanour is light hearted and youthful. no one feels the need to do her wrong because she is just too cute for any harm. she is an ingenue. examples of coquettes are lizzy grant, cat valentine from “victorious”, alice cullen from “twilight”, and marilyn monroe.
wear clothes that make u look cute. the coquette aesthetic has been around for quite a while. the main aspect of a coquette outfit is its innocently teasing nature. wear bright colours that compliment ur skin like a blush pink, bright reds, and pretty lilacs. make people around u appreciate ur innocent look but know that there imagination is running wild. the makeup for these looks are more natural and rely on the condition of ur actual skin. take good care of ur skin. have a set routine but remember that it’s completely okay if u have pimples! you can still be a pretty little coquette even with acne.
vanilla or any kind of sweet scents are a staple for the coquette essence. ariana grandes perfumes are perfect for making people mouths water for a sweet snack when u walk by. olympea by paco rabanne is my personal favourite.
be kind and sweet to people who deserve it. people need to see u as a sweet and innocent doll who can do no wrong. but don’t be afraid to be risky and be the complete opposite of that once in a while. the rare moments where u show ur femme fatale side will have people incredibly intrigued by you.
perfect your voice. your voice should sound pleasant like some sort of princess. make your voice sound higher but not ear screeching high. add a beautiful mix of air and softness to ur voice. a breathy voice is incredibly intoxicating and suits the coquette.

pêle-mêle: adverb
in a confused, rushed, or disorderly manner.
also known as the manic pixie dream girl, a pêle-mêle is the essence of a girl who is described as whimsical, eccentric and is quite literal the life of the party. though at first glance she’s all rainbows and sun shine, the shadow side of the pêle-mêle can be described as a tortured artist. her optimism is delightful. she is not afraid to take risks. she’s a mess but people can not help to be intrigued by her free spirited ways for she is a drug to people who crave adventure. examples of a pêle-mêle include ramona flowers from scott pilgrim vs the world, mia wallace from pulp fiction, harley quinn from the DC comics, and holly golighty from breakfast at tiffany’s.
don’t be afraid to take risks. risks and adventure is what the pêle-mêle lives off of. be brave. do things you are afraid to do. start small and work your way up like from riding that roller coaster your so afraid of to having a motorcycle race with your friends (trust me those are so fun!). show people just how daring you can be and immediately people will be magnetized to you.
wear clothes that are unique and you feel comfortable with. the pêle-mêle rejects conformity and the way you appear should reflect that. wear clothes that harmonize with your crazy personality. be daring and bold with your makeup. make sure you stand out from the crowd and that you do not care what people think. the alternative style perfectly suits someone who embodies this essence.
be confident. obviously this rule applies to all the essences but confidence and self love is at the core of the pêle-mêle. you need to show people that you do not care what they think of you and that at the end of the day, you are just here for a good time. the more you practice self love, the easier it will be for you to express yourself without the fear of judgement from others.
be a socialite. don’t be afraid to speak your mind to people. pêle-mêle’s are usually people persons. they love good company that they can go on adventures with. make friends by being your true self and don’t hold yourself back. even a few mishaps by saying the wrong thing from time to time can make people fall in love with your clumsy nature.
obviously there are plenty of other essences you can achieve for yourself but these are my top three favourites. to find out who exactly who you want to become try the few tips listed below!
how to find your personal essence
what kind of people captivate you? what type of personalities do you see that you wish you could be? do you find yourself being envious of the pretty girl next door, the man eater, or the mysterious persona? figure out what kind of a person do u wish to truly become and inherit their manner. find out the characteristic of ur desired essence to the littlest of detail. this can include from the way you walk, talk, eat, sleep, look, smell ext. think of this as becoming your ideal best self. take the female archetype quiz to get a better understanding of your self.
what kind of aesthetic catches your eye? do you enjoy the glamorous high fashion life or do you like the softer cherry coke and heart shaped sunglasses niche? maybe you enjoy completely different things or a blend of a few. live up to this aesthetic. do this by expressing this aesthetic in the way you dress to how u decorate your room.
what kind of environment do you feel the most comfortable in? are you someone who loves education and school? or do you love the idea of being free and living in an RV for the rest of your life? maybe you just want to live in a cozy high rise new york apartment or a huge mansion up in beverly hills. envision where you see your ideal self in 10-20 years. your ideal environment can reveal a lot about what kind of lifestyle choices you want to make.
you might be thinking to yourself hey these aren’t the best tips for school. and at an educational standpoint you’re right. but it’s important to embody your best ideal self to truly enjoy this lifetime. these are little things that can be used to motivate you. i believe that inner self work should be prioritized over your school work though both are important. make sure you are taking some time out of your week to find out more about yourself and who you want to become. be the best you.

Hi! Do you have any tips on making the scene emotional, I want to be able to move and touch my readers with my writing but it's really hard when I don't understand emotions and feeling and I'm usually a thinker but I really want to make my my reader feel sadness and grief with my character. So any tips for that? Or do I have to keep practicing? Hope you have a nice day! Thank you! Your blog helps me alot!
Hi :)
I’m a very empathetic person. I can get kinda cold if the emotions involve myself, but if it’s about other people or fictional characters, I soak those emotions up like a sponge. I can get really into all the emotional aspects of writing, so I’m not sure how to do it if you don’t understand the emotions that well, because it comes so natural to me. I will try to give a general overview of how to write emotional scenes, but if someone else can give some other advice, it’s greatly appreciated!
How to write emotional scenes
Focus on showing, not telling:
don’t just say the character is afraid or panicking
write the actions that would let an onlooker know
hands trembling, pulse and breathing picking up, frantic eye movement,...
if you describe it well enough, the reader will feel those things too
Dialogue:
of course, dialogue is still important
but I would keep it shorter than in other scenes
don’t make it too emotional or it can appear sappy
exception: motivational speeches
think about the difference between showing and telling
are the characters trying to conceal how they really fell by saying something else?
Make the reader relate:
relating to a character makes the reader much more empathetic to them and it creates emotions in them
so try to get the reader to sympathize with your character by showing their journey and their goals
but if you want to have a rival in that scene, do the exact opposite
make the reader unsympathetic to that character to make them feel anger towards them or satisfaction if they get defeated
Heavy scenes:
there is a difference between an emotional scene and a truly traumatic experience
you don’t want the reader to feel the full range of human trauma
if the reader is getting too emotional, it could keep them wanting to continue reading
so in extremely emotional scenes try to show the overall picture
don’t go into specific feelings, but try to show how this affects your character as a whole
you can even try to make the scene feel more distant, almost numb and devoid of deep emotions if the reader already knows how traumatic this would be for the character
sometimes this could affect them even better than showing all the emotions because they can create their own emotions
always remember: you want to pull at your reader’s heartstrings - not break anything
Hope you have a nice day as well and good luck with your writing!

In Honor of Deltarune Chapter 2, Lemme tell you about exactly HOW world-breaking Chara really was, and IS.
Here's the thing about Chara. It is implied that they are THE PLAYER's insatiable thirst for new video game worlds (or, they have latched onto it). As in, they accompany the player to the next world they go to.
Direct quote:
"HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV. Every time a number increases, that feeling . . . That's me. Chara. Now, we have reached the absolute. There is nothing left for us here. Let us erase this pointless world, and move on to the next." i.e.: Let US move on to the next.
Every time THE PLAYER conquers and sets aside a new game . . . they have effectively DESTROYED it. Because they do not "exist" unless they are played and interacted with. Also, they only exist up until the end of the game anyway (most of the time)
And- I say usually- no matter how many times THE PLAYER plays a game- they will eventually tire of it. Also, if they play 500 games in their lifetime . . . it is unlikely they will re-play that many consistently. Plus, add on random internet "mini" games.
Now, that's only considering ONE player.
But since Chara is a multi-dimensional being, because they are aware of other worlds . . . it's not much of a stretch to say that the millions of people who are carrying around Chara "with" them count . . . as Chara.
Bill Cipher, from Gravity Falls, to my knowledge, despite his reality-warping godly demon powers, makes no such 4th wall shattering and domineering claim.
Let's assume for sanity's sake, that this current dimension you're sitting in and reading this screen on is the primary reality. There ARE no dimensions higher than this. All others are contained within human imagination. Bill Cipher was Created by a Creator.
All the 'lower' dimensions we can muck around in as basically gods. (gods or demigods either incarnate as weaklings, or come about some other way, in many mythologies, but then grow steadily stronger to realize their godhood. Ya know, Hercules. Krishna. In Hinduism. That sort of thing.) We can travel between dimensions on a whim by flipping a switch. With enough Determination, we can ALWAYS reach the end. Now, sometimes collaboration does expand these universes a little bit- through comics and fanfiction. But even these created 'higher spheres' nearer to this primary dimension, author 'omniscience' is taken as a given. Actually there is some debate about that, given the real-world phenomenon of novel writers in some cases having no clue where characters are taking them . . . they just sit down to write with a kernel of an idea. That's how I operate, for instance. In that case, they somehow have had their 'future sight' that should be default as a god, blocked. People who outline plots and know where they're going with a story beforehand, and then create characters to fill in the gaps, they're the type of 'gods' that could tell their characters future events, if they wanted to. Anyway. Back to video games specifically, and their fandoms. There is only so much CONTENT and it can always be recorded and shared. So there is still a limting factor.  Here's the weird thing about Undertale. You are there as a 'god.' Just as usual. That's nothing special. You're just there to muck around. But. The whole toe-curling horror aspect UT was demonstrating, for specific characters NPCs who realize this sobering fact . . . such as Asgore and Sans, they are driven to despair, mental instability, and in two cases, suicide, by the fact.
If Homestuck is considered a "game" that is destroyed once you reach the end? It is rolled into all of this as well.  Homestuck is a game. What evidence to I have of this, since it's a 'written story'? It has many playable elements and 90% of its lore and plot is based on deconstructing game conventions and sticking them back together in weird angled positions with crazy glue.  Therefore. If the player reads Homestuck after playing Undertale, (i.e., someone who is newer to internet culture, and entered it after Undertale came out, which was far after Homestuck) Chara has CANONICALLY destroyed the Homestuck Universe.  (or, if you re-read Homestuck after playing Undertale)
YOU. The PLAYER make or break all fictional characters. They live and die by your interest in them, or, for games, your direction, and no other character has explicitly taken YOUR control over the game, as Chara has. In Homestuck, it never gives you something to "do" and then takes the decision away from you, as Undertale does.
Chara, except for someone who has 100% control of that little dopamine rush that comes with leveling up (read: no one), is out there, gleefully wringing out, growing bored of, and then destroying hundreds of thousands of worlds. Chara is the first of zeir kind.  And possibly the last.  Or at least, anything that comes afterwards will be but a pale imitation.  Toby Fox is truly LEGENDARY, in this way.  I'm not sure even he fully understand what he's done here.  Let me try to explain this.  Our education system is currenlty ripping itself to pieces over back-breaking student loans and the realization that we don't actually need all these professors because of the easy availability of information on the internet (Demonstrated, in a roundabout way, in one or two deft lines of dialog in the movie A Beauriful Mind). Now, let's say colleges and universities do survive this shift in society, going foward. It's probable that at the very least technical colleges and vocational schools will. Any others, including high schools, will be replaced by students shrugging and just taking a G.E.D. certification, because why should they spend time at a high school if they hate it, or if they want to learn at their own individualized pace? No reason to do that at all. If the stuffy old guard of the outdated higher education system ever starts treating stories told by video games as literature, as they ABSOLUTELY SHOULD, because they're merely a different medium, not some weird separate thing . . . Toby Fox, having overturned the "trope" of the RPG "genre", wrecking and dismantling it so thouroughly that it has unsettled millions of people who ever again play an RPG where they slaughter any monsters for 'points.'  He should be immortalized. Just like any other author in history who has churned out a landmark piece of literature.  It's merely his fair due.  Perfectly logical, right?  He is the Ubermench game-changer. Literally.  I hope Sans appreciates the pun. Chara is the vehicle through which this overturning of the trope happens. Chara stares directly at the player, deconstructs a longstanding staple in the 'literary genre,' and gives a body and voice to the psychologically addictive quality of video games.
One estimate says there are more than 60,000 video games in existence. And millions of copies of each one.
Chara, as we've established canonically, has access to ALL that are played after a runthrough of Undertale. (or at the very least, genocide Undertale) In Hinduism, it is Shiva that is the god of destruction.  To quote Oppenheimer,  Chara has become Death, Destroyer of Worlds.  Checkmate.

Hey bestie can u pls explain to me what "aroace" and "queerplatonic relationship" mean? Bitches grew up in a heteronormative, amatonormative society and would appreciate your input. Hi, I'm Bitches.
Of course! Aroace is when someone is both aromantic and asexual so basically i don't experience sexual attraction and I don't experience romantic attraction to anyone. So I don't fall in love and i feel attracted to anyone. It is a bit more complex than that for me though as i still like fictional characters and I fantasise about having a relationship which is where the queerplatonic relationship part comes it.
Its quite complex to explain since it means different things to different people but for me, i usually describe it as a relationship that is between a friendship and a romantic relationship. For me the perfect one would be another aroace who i cuddle and live with, maybe even get married and adopt a kid, but there is no romantic and sexual feelings involved.
This doesn't mean that i am opposed to receiving messages and stuff that is sexual or romantic in nature as long as they understand that its not my style to pursue it more than just that. Like me and my friends make romantic and sexual jokes and i am closer with my friends than most people would consider a friendship. I'm also a sex positive ace so i don't mind sex and stuff but there is no sexual aspect to it for me, more of just a physical thing. The way i describe it is like scratching an itch, it feels nice to get the itch out of the way but theres nothing sexual about an itch, its just a need that goes away when i do a certain thing.
Hope all that helped! Aromantic and asexual are labels that don't get enough attention and education so i really appreciate you trying to learn :)
