Still haven't seen the new Percy Jackson show but I have seen some fan reaction and here's what I'm getting:

In the show, there's a lot more Poseidon+Sally interaction. In the show, Sally Jackson is the woman he loves.

In the books, Sally is the ex who very much dumped him.

#I'm all for stories about exes who became for-real friends #Riker and Troi on TNG #Chloe and Daniel on Lucifer #adaptation #Percy Jackson #Percy Jackson TV series #when the adaptation adds to the original #Poseidon is never shown as too stupid to understand that Sally makes choices to protect Percy #including marrying Gabe #but it still had to be an ego hit #he's gotta be like 'okay so many she didn't want to settle down at the bottom of the sea for my albeit divine ass' #'but COME ON' #don't get me wrong I don't think book Poseidon doesn't care about Sally at all #but she's not the love of his life #she's one of his many girlfriends #yeah he respects her and might love her in his way #but her getting older and marrying Paul is something he very much takes in stride #kind of like Riker and Troi in early TNG 'cool bro I'd love to see her happy'

(random s5 finale musings) tbh I don't think Marinette chose to keep The Secrets™ from Adrien because Gabriel asked her to. I feel like Marinette keeping secrets like that is so consistent with her character; she hates giving people bad news, she hates rocking the boat, she hates upsetting people, she always chooses to keep any 'controversial' information to herself for as long as she can get away with (examples: bubbler scarf, telling Queen Bee she was benched, confessing to Adrien, warning Chat Noir about Scarabella or Rena Furtive, never told Chat Noir about Chat Blanc, etc) that I just totally believe she would've done it either way. She was even already having nightmares about Adrien hating her for finding out she defeated his father, so I feel like Gabriel's request was moreso giving her a go-ahead than it was a primary deciding factor, yknow?

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #lan xichen #jin guangyao #jiang cheng #wei wuxian #qin su #EDIT: Tumblr published an earlier draft with only half the notes I wrote so: late entry on my JGY thoughts. #Unlike the mystic powers of the stockmarket (what the OG meme is referring to) I think this situation calls for more active investigation. #qin su is such a deeply tragic character to me and I really wish we got a bit more from her. #Love everyone who sent me messages about her after the last time she appeared. #I think she needs a spin off of her being a transmigrator SO badly. #MDZS has so many interesting characters - but it sometimes fails to give them the proper room to really develop past a role in the plot. #That's just the consequence of writing a story like MDZS. Not every character in a book *needs* to have a rich inner life and backstory! #To do so would bog down the story and obliterate any notion of pacing. It's just not possible. #Jin Guangyao (nee Meng Yao) is unfortunately not free from this leeway rule. He is the culprit of this murder mystery plot #and thus NEEDS to encapsulate the themes of the book. And personally he's a 7 out of 10 at best on this front (in the AD). #MDZS is about rumours twisting reality and working towards truth. And about how people & situations are rarely ever black & white #JGY has his motivations. He's well written in regards to his actions making sense for his character. #What started as good traits (drive to succeed & improve his image) became twisted over time (do anything to maintain his image) #and it's a good parallel to WWX! He has the same arc (with different traits)! Bonus points for IGY in that regard. #but man....by the time we confront this guy for murder there's not a lot of grey morality. He's just...deep in the hole *he* dug. #There's a beautiful tragedy to it! More on JGY in later comics - this is getting pretty long already!
