It pisses me the fuck off that anti-cat propaganda still exists. And no, I'm not being overdramatic. Anti-cat propaganda has existed for a long time partially because of cats association with Paganism and partially because idiots don't like the idea of an animal not obeying their every command. Even though -- heads up -- you can totally train cats.

One extremely racist example of anti-cat propaganda is the Siamese cats scene in Disney's original Lady & The Tramp film. The cats are portrayed as destructive baby killers in that movie, perpetuating the myth of cats stealing a baby's breath. Another example is saying that black cats are bad luck, and another more modern example is

The absolutely bullshit ideology that cats and other animals must abide by human morals in order to be good. Like when someone said cats are the only animals that will hunt or chase another animal for fun.

Uh, no, they aren't.

I have literally watched a dog hunt down and injure a squirrel that had to be killed cause it was hurt so bad. Dogs have also been known to do this to groundhogs, ducks, foxes, and over small mammals. These are usually breeds of dogs that have been bred to be hunting or guard dog breeds.

And do you see anyone hating on fucking beagles or whatever. No, you don't -- or at least I haven't. And that's just me listing an example -- not breed discrimination. Beagles are lovely dogs when trained and cared for properly. But ya know what?

They're still gonna hunt stuff.

And they're not evil for it and neither are cats. Although, granted, people need to be more responsible cat owners and keep their fucking cats INDOORS both for the cat's safety and to prevent them from harming the ecosystem.

But a cat is not human. They obviously do not have the same level of empathy that most humans do -- they have no concept of what is humane or not. So if you're judging your cat cause you've seen them "toying" with a smaller animal

What the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you holding your cats to the same moral intellectual standards as a human?

And if you're getting defensive over this maybe you should stop and ask yourself if a cat -- an apex predator and carnivore -- is the right pet for you.

Meet Jiji!

I work in a pet supply store, and 2 weeks ago a customer came in with three kittens she’d found in her backyard, with no sign of their mother. She asked for help with guessing how old they were, what sex they were and what type of foods they needed. She couldn't keep them herself, and wasn't sure what to do, as all the shelters she'd called were already full.

Two of the kittens were very upset, hissing and frightened, but this little guy stepped straight onto my hand and willingly let me check his teeth and weight. I was cuddling him while I walked around the store with her, and then he climbed up under the collar of my work jacket and began purring.

Being chosen by a cat is an honour I’ve never backed down from, so Jiji came home with me.

After being wormed and vaccinated, he’s putting on more weight, almost 700 grams now, even though that’s a little small for an 8 week old kitten, but he loves to eat, so I’m sure he’ll get there.

Thankfully the other two kittens found a home together too. I’m waiting until he’s a little bigger before I introduce him to our other two cats, and until they’ve had their booster shots. He's a little snuffly and while he doesn't seem ill, the vet suspects like most street cats, he's been exposed to the cat flu virus.

So, this is a long winded post to explain that I’m hoping to do at least one submission for inukag week, but if it ends up being a little late, Jiji's probably the cute culprit behind the delay. He likes my clicky clacky keyboard and my nice warm laptop a little too much!

The void babe is Shuri and the floofer is her lil sister Tesla.

Tesla was named after the scientist Nikola Tesla. Not the car. Shuri was named after the Black Panther character cause they’re both mini panthers.

Apparently, I don’t get coffee unless my cats get food.

I’ve been working to establish a household routine cause, apparently, that helps with mental health stuff. The cats are meant to get breakfast at 9:30am every morning. But instead they’ve started congregating in the kitchen whenever they see me at the coffeepot with a mug. Every morning.

Then the sitting and waiting commences.

I have mixed feelings about this.
