I don’t think I’ve ever mention but I write btw… so like if you have prompts for any of the fandoms listed you can totally tell me and I will totally true to do it! (Also here’s my Ao3 account lmao https://archiveofourown.org/users/Oreo102 )
Fandoms I know enough to write about
Dr who- specifically 13’s era but I might be able to pull off River and Missy too (and 15 if you want a fic based only on my slightly deranged headcanons lmao)
3rd life/hermitcraft specifically Pearl, Cleo, Grian are the 3 I actually watch
MCU (no tony stark, I hate him)
Carmen sandiego
Hilda
Harry Potter (not super likely tho)

CARDIAC ARREST INCOMING!!!
Celaena KNEW ! SHE KNEW THE WHOLE TIME THAT SHE WAS THE HEIR OF TERRASEN!!! SHE KNEW OF HER IDENTITY THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!
The fact that nehemia is gatekeeping more than needed, Chaol has started becoming complex with his feeling towards her, Dorian is about to loose his brain for his dim witted denial of him not just unleashing a certain portion of his magic out,
MOST OF IT- Celaena being in denial of her future and her acts and her being in general, she knows her duties, knows the position she’ll be at in future, is well aware of the direction all of the things happening around her are pushing her in- mort, elena, the iron-teeth witch, and the tapestry..

Nightmares
Summary: Aelin has a nightmare but she isn't alone to face the horrors of her past that haunt her still.
Wordcount: 0.5k
Warnings: mentions of death, nigtmares, Maeve and Arobynn (yes they are warnings)

Aelin had been getting used to being the Queen of Terrasen, everything had been getting back to normal lately. Terrasen was growing and blooming under her care. She was with her mate, with her friends, she was not afraid. Or so she thought.
Her fears had a way of creeping up on her in her dreams. Some nights were worse than others. Some nights she would sleep peacefully like a baby but other times she would wake up with sweat covering her body, her heart hammering in her chest, threatening to leap from her chest. She would be panting as though she had run a marathon. This particular night was one of the bad ones.
Aelin tossed and turned, still asleep. She saw the cold, lifeless bodies of Rowe and Evalin Galathynius. She moved to go near them, try to wake them up but the scene in front of her shifted and there she was watching from afar as Celaena Sardothien wept over the disfigured and broken body of Sam Cortland. She looked up and saw Aelin. The look she gave Aelin said, “This happened because of you.” The horrifying scene changed again, showing Nehemia, covered in blood. Aelin remembered how she had lept for Chaol at that very moment. But instead her old self lunged for her now. She would’ve screamed but the scream got lost somewhere, dissolving with the people in front of her. For a moment she saw nothing. A distant voice sounded “If only you listened to me, Celaena.” she would have recognised that voice anywhere. Arobynn Hamel.
Aelin saw Rowan then. She breathed a sigh of relief as she ran to him. When she got close enough, she saw it and it made her sick to her stomach. He was kneeling and his hands and legs were bound in iron chains. A beautiful iron mask covered his face. She saw his emerald eyes glazed with tears. “Take it off,” he said, his voice shaking. “Take it off, take it off, take it off, take it off …”
Aelin jerked up, still shaking. She breathed in deeply. She looked at her side to where Rowan lay sleeping. The lines on his face were smoothed out. He looked peaceful. He was safe. Maeve was dead. No one would hurt him.
Aelin wasn't used to waking up to someone. Whenever, in her past, she would have woken from a disturbing tribulation of her unconscious mind, she would have no one to hold on to. Her solitude would be her only partner in the cold and ruthless nights. She would shush herself back to sleep. She didn’t have to anymore. She had Rowan. He would always be there.
Aelin layed back down and gripped his torso pressing herself into his body. His hand came to rest on her waist and she closed her eyes. Rowan’s presence reminded her that her past can haunt her but it cannot hurt her anymore. She survived and she was not afraid.

Reading Throne of Glass (31-34)
Recap
Dorian is falling in love with Celaena
Chaol is getting suspicious of Duke Perrington
Celaena has the first queen as a ghost guide
Chapter 31
Elena's ghost visits Celaena. She can sense the ghost even in her sleep but can't sense Dorian when she's awake. The crown prince must have maxed out his sneak skills.
So Elena can tell Celaena that she shouldn't bother to reach for a knife and that it will do no harm in plain English but when it comes to clues she's suddenly so cryptic and fond of riddles. Celaena should throw salt at her.
Anyways Elena tells her to look right for the answer.
The next day Celaena has a Test, also recently another competitor was found dead once again. The Test is poisons.
She had five minutes left—five minutes during which she not only had to identify the poisons in seven goblets, but arrange them in the order of the most benign to the deadliest. The true test, however, would come at the end of the five minutes, when they were to drink from the goblet they deemed the most harmless. If they got the answer wrong...
If Pelor doesn't win I'm gonna throw my phone fr.
Celaena glanced to the right to find Pelor, the gangly young assassin, watching her. He was down to the same two goblets that she struggled with, and she watched as he put the water glass at the very end of the spectrum—the most poisonous—and the wine glass at the other. His eyes flicked to hers, and his chin drooped in a barely detectible nod. He put his hands in his pockets. He was done. Celaena turned to her own goblets before Brullo could catch her. Poisons. That’s what Pelor had said during their first Test. He was trained in poisons.
My boyyyyy
Pelor is standing to Celaena's right. Elena's clue was to look right for the answer.
None of the other Champions had bothered to pay attention to Pelor—even Brullo, it seemed, had forgotten Pelor’s claim that first day. If he’d known, he never would have allowed them to do the Test so publicly.
I did pay attention to Pelor, tho. I'm just built different I guess. Bill dipperly
Pelor and Celaena win.
Chapter 32
Nehemia and Celaena are hanging out.
“I sense much worry in you,” Nehemia said suddenly, “and I hear much that you do not say. You never voice any of your troubles, though your eyes betray them.” Was she so transparent? “We’re friends,” Nehemia said softly. “When you need me, I’ll be there.”
The real soulmates.
Celaena is so sincere with Nehemia it literally triggers a reaction in her suppressed memories.
They go to the kennels to see Dorian's dogs.
Sometimes I can't understand the tone of dialogue in text exchanges but I think that's just a me problem.
Anyways Celaena likes one of the puppies. And Nehemia picks up on the vibes between Dorian and Celaena.
Eventually Nehemia turned to her. “Do you like him?” isn't Celaena's identity as Lillian essentially being Dorian's not so secret girlfriend
“It’s not a crime if you consider him handsome. I’ll admit I judged him wrong; I thought him to be a pompous, selfish idiot, but he’s not so bad.” (Nehemia)
“He’s a Havilliard.” (Celaena) “My mother was the daughter of a chief who sought to overthrow my grandfather.” (Nehemia)
Give me the Nehemia/ Dorian political marriage au right now
Every hint and step towards Celaena x Dorian is almost immediately undercut by a more (personally) significant Chaol x Celaena moment or mention.
She tells Nehemia, in a very serious tone, she'd rather cut out her own heart than love a Havilliard. SJM is gonna undermine this statement.
A moment later she notices she guards are less and less strict on her every day and thinks it might be on Chaol's orders.
Chaol + 10 | Dorian - 10
Celaena is longingly staring out the window and thinking of running away when Cain shows up out of nowhere acting crazy and then runs off, she sends word to Nox and Pelor telling them to stay in their rooms for the night.
Chapter 33
Kaltain Rompier!!!
She smokes opium but doesn't want the Duke to know so she rushed to change, spray perfume and drink sugary water to hide it but...
I don't get why. Even during the Victorian era there wasn't any social stigma against doing drugs, it was a recreational pastime, not an addiction, and even now, the richer people are the more socially acceptable their vices are so why is the narrative shading her for that
He kissed her hand when she offered it, his lips soggy against her skin. Their eyes met as he looked up from her hand, and a piece of the world slipped away. How far would she go to secure her position at Dorian’s side? “I hope I didn’t disturb you,” he said, releasing her hand. The walls of the room appeared, and then the floor and the ceiling, and she had the distinct feeling that she was trapped in a box, a lovely cage filled with tapestries and cushions.
Sjm's best characters are women fighting against the world, held up only by their pride
So the duke tries to play Kaltain but even in her drugged up state she turns the tables and starts weaving a lie about Lillian not being a virgin or "having a disreputable past" but again I have to wonder about consistency
Not only is Lillian's cover at court being Dorian's new girl, Dorian himself has seemingly slept his way through half the women at court. Surely Perrington, and even maybe Kaltain, would know that
It wouldn't help to bring the gossip to the Queen either because Lillian is not on the list she gave Dorian anyways
Also, now that I know Perrington told Cain about who Celaena is, I'm guessing it's Perrington that's playing Kaltain but on a whole other level. He's not the loud and quick to anger man we've seen so far. He's very cunning and he might turn out to be the type of villain I initially hoped he would be
Celaena is reading in her room when - for the first time - she hears someone enter
The door finished opening and Nehemia, clad in a gold-worked wonder, stood before her. She didn’t look at Celaena, nor did she move as she stood in the doorway. Her eyes were upon the floor, and rivers of kohl ran down her cheek.
(...)
“I—I didn’t know where else to go,” she said in Eyllwe. Celaena found breathing a bit difficult as she asked, “What happened?”
So five hundred Eyllwe rebels were captured and en route to a slave mine when some tried to escape and everyone was killed as punishment, even the children among them
Chapter 34
Later Celaena is again watching the snow through a window. She has cramps so I think she's having her period.
Chaol comes to visit, Celaena tries to tell him she's unwell, he doesn't click and starts admitting to inner turmoil about the whole Nehemia, Eyllwe, Ardalan situation. Celaena vomits on the floor. She tells him it's her period, he gets embarrassed and leaves.
(if I was more suspicious I might say Phillipa tried to poison her with the tea but probably not)
Dorian comes by. He's very cheerful. It's cute but annoying.
She moaned into her pillow. “Go away. I feel like dying.” “No fair maiden should die alone,” he said, putting a hand on hers. “Shall I read to you in your final moments? What story would you like?”
Annoying but cute
Celaena throws a book at Dorian's face but he catches it, it turns out to be a smutty romance
“You may borrow it when I’m done. If you read it, your literary experience will be complete. And,” she added with a coy smile, “it will give you some creative ideas of things to do with your lady friends.” He hissed through his teeth. “I will not read this.” She took the book from his hands, leaning back. “Then I suppose you’re just like Chaol.” “Chaol?” he asked, falling into the trap. “You asked Chaol to read this?” “He refused, of course,” she lied. “He said it wasn’t right for him to read this sort of material if I gave it to him.” Dorian snatched the book from her hands. “Give me that, you demon-woman. I’ll not have you matching us against each other.” He glanced once more at the novel, then turned it over, concealing the title. She smiled, and resumed watching the falling snow. It was blisteringly cold now, and even the fire could not warm the blasts of wind that crept through the cracks of her balcony doors. She felt Dorian watching her—and not in the cautious way that Chaol sometimes watched her. Rather, Dorian just seemed to be watching her because he enjoyed watching her.
Once again, Dorian sees the girl behind the assassin and Chaol sees the assassin behind the girl.
“What are you staring at?” “You’re beautiful,” Dorian said before he could think. “Don’t be stupid.” “Did I offend you?” His blood pumped through him in a strange rhythm. “No,” she said, and quickly faced the window. Dorian watched her face turn redder and redder. He’d never known an attractive woman for so long without courting her—save for Kaltain.
This whole scene might be one of their best.
Also I love how it's just known that Kaltain is undoubtedly hot, whether you like her a lot. Very Nesta Archeron of her. Or the other way around rather.
The week surrounding Yulemas was a time of relaxation, a time to celebrate the carnal pleasures that kept one warm on a winter’s night. Women wore their hair down; some even refused to don a corset. It was a holiday to feast on the fruits of the harvest and those of the flesh. Naturally, he looked forward to it every year. But now . . . Now he had a sinking feeling in his stomach. How could he celebrate when word had just arrived of what his father’s soldiers had done to those Eyllwe rebels? They hadn’t spared a single life. Five hundred people—all dead. How could he ever look Nehemia in the face again? And how could he someday rule a country whose soldiers had been trained to have so little compassion for human life?
Please there's so much here to work with.
Of course sjm is making this 500 dead black people plot point more about Celaena and her relationships than about Nehemia, Eyllwe or Ardalan 🔪🔪🔪 of course this massacre is the chance for the white boy who stands at the literal pinnacle of the social hierarchy to show he's actually so tender and soft
Even on her period, Celaena must put aside her pain to entertain Dorian's woe is me moment.
SJM is diametrically opposed to feminism. She is such a deeply misogynistic person that even her self-inserts come second to the men in their books.
Okay. The dark haired woe is me, I had no choice guy goes on a monologue about how hard his life is to the feisty tough because of her circumstances blonde and she sees behind the mask he wears and thinks about how lonely he is
Feysand is party city Dorian and Celaena.
Why couldn't sjm copy Dorian's lifestyle too? At least he seems to work and attend meetings and cater to the wants of the power players at court. It's more realistic. Unlike someone passing one ban in 400 years and spending all their money on new houses and all their time fucking
Celaena smirked. “Be sure to give the duke my warmest regards.” There was no way she’d forgotten how the duke had treated her that first day in Endovier. Dorian hadn’t forgotten it, either.
Celaena is a criminal. Literally a murderer. SJM is insane and will always point out the wrong thing. Celaena's personal feelings aside, how is Dorian gonna argue that Perrington was wrong for how he treated her
Without thinking, he leaned down and kissed her cheek. She stiffened as his mouth touched her skin, and though the kiss was brief, he breathed in the scent of her. Pulling away was surprisingly hard. “Rest well, Celaena,” he said. “Good night, Dorian.”
Okay, Dorian + 20
Dorian mentioned a masked ball on Yulemas but Celaena's not allowed to go, so that's definitely gonna happen
Lmao never mind those Dorian points, once again Celaena immediately thinks of Chaol and wonders if he was gonna ask her to go before she almost vomited on him.
End of chapter.
I'm gonna carry on reading because I wanna get this book done but I don't want this to be too long.
I really hated this chapter in particular even if I don't mind the characters themselves, SJM's vile personality is oozing through the pages.
How did she drop this horrible event and turn it into a ship moment.

POV: Third person
Time Period/Location: Rifthold, the capital of Adarlan, in the fictional world of Erilea.
First Line: The shutters swinging in the storm wind were the only sign of her entry.
Celaena Sardothien has been the King's Champion for a couple of months at this point, and has already been on five assassination missions for the King. However, she has faked all of their deaths. The King then gives her a mission in Rifthold to kill Archer Finn, a courtesan she knew from growing up at the Assassin's Keep, as he suspects him to be a part of a rebel plot. Her friendship with Chaol has grown during this time, and she takes him with her to "accidentally" bump into Archer. Chaol is jealous by how closely they bond, and starts to realize his feelings for her. Celaena attempts to go to the library and finds what appears to be a cloaked person standing there, and it growls at her. The Eye of Elena begins to glow, and the creature runs off. She goes down into the tomb to seek answers from Elena, only to discover that the bronze skull knocker on the door can talk, and his name is Mort. He tells her that Elena wants her to find the evil in the castle. Dorian's cousin Roland arrives in the castle, wearing a black ring like Perrington and the King, and Celaena immediately dislikes him, even though he is trying desperately hard to gain Dorian's trust. Celaena and Archer go to dinner, and she tells him that she was sent by the King to assassinate him. Archer pleads for his life, saying he has no involvement in the rebel plots, but that some of his clients do, and that he knows that they want to find Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, the heir to the throne of Terrasen, and use her to overthrow the King of Adarlan. Celaena gives him till the end of the month to get his affairs in order and to give her as much information as possible about the conspirators. He begins by taking her to a ball held by one of his clients, Davis, and she sneaks into his office and discovers a book on Wyrdmarks. In the back, she finds written, "It is only with the eye that one can see rightly." Davis catches her snooping and cuts her with a dagger that was covered in gloriella, a paralytic poison. She manages to kill him and make it back to the castle in time to tell Chaol to give her the antidote. Celaena then involves Nehemia, asking her to teach her to read the Wyrdmarks and help her solve the riddle. They go down to Elena's tomb, and discover that when standing on a constellation of the Stag, a hollowed out eye appeared in the wall. They both looked through it, but discovered nothing. Chaol and Celaena grow closer, and Celaena takes him out for a romantic dinner. She confesses that she hasn't actually been killing her targets, and Chaol is angry but ultimately chooses to be with her, saying he'll leave Rifthold with her one day. They have a lot of s*x over the following week.
Celaena and Nehemia get into a heated argument where Nehemia calls her a coward for refusing to help her plan to overthrow the King. Chaol is then kidnapped, and Celaena is left with a ransom note. She goes to a warehouse and kills 15 men before she is stopped by Archer. He tells her that Nehemia founded their rebel group, and that he had heard that she was going to be interrogated by Chaol and the King that day so they kidnapped him in an attempt to stop it and to show Celaena that Chaol had kept secret the fact that Nehemia's life was threatened. Celaena races back to the castle and finds Nehemia tortured to death. She attacks Chaol, blaming him for her death, and Dorian uses magic to stop her from killing him. Chaol puts her in the dungeons for a few days, where Kaltain tells her that Duke Perrington is taking her to Morath to be his wife, and that Roland will be going with them. When Chaol releases her from the dungeons, she sinks into heavy grief and refuses to speak to anyone. She then deduces that Grave, an assassin from the competition to be Champion, must have killed Nehemia, and she uses the tunnels to sneak out and kill him. She brings his head before the King, accuses the lord that was his sponsor in the competition of hiring him to kill Nehemia, and she gives him a list of the 15 men she killed from Archer's group. She solves the riddle talking about the eye and uses the pommel of King Gavin's sword Damaris to see another riddle written on the inside of the hollowed out eye. It is a map to to finding three powerful objects. She goes to a the carnival being held in honor of Prince Hollin, and speaks to an Ironteeth witch named Baba Yellowlegs. The witch reveals that Dorian came asking her questions about magic, and offers to sell his questions to Celaena but she refuses. She asks her about the riddle and the witch tells her that it speaks of Wyrdkeys, three slivers of rock broken off from the Wyrdgate, the portal between worlds. They are immensely powerful individually, but with all three one can open the Wyrdgate to all sorts of different planets and dimensions. She kills the witch for knowing Dorian's secrets, and her and Dorian grow closer again.
She then investigates catacombs she found beneath the library, using Wyrdmarks to unlock the iron doors. She finds an underground prison, and then the entrance to the giant obsidian clock tower built by the King. She is turning back when she is attacked by the creature from before. Dorian, who had followed her down, runs with her, and he tries to use his magic to seal the door. It doesn't work, so he runs to find the spellbook and they use it to trap and kill the creature. Celaena realizes it has a human heart, and that it must have been human at one point. She believes the King used a Wyrdkey to make it into a monster. She discovers the meaning of the first part of the riddle and discovers the key is gone. Distraught, she grabs the spellbook and uses it to open a portal to contact Nehemia. She succeeds, but Nehemia tells her to never do it again. Just as the portal closes, Archer appears, and reveals that Nehemia showed him the tunnels and he's been spying on her for weeks. Celaena realizes on of the coded notes in Nehemia's room was saying not to trust Archer. She acts like she is on his side and is willing to give him the book and work with him, and he confesses he was the one to order Grave to kill Nehemia. She attacks him once he does, and in their fight they accidentally open a portal to another world. Dorian is warned in a dream by King Gavin that Celaena is in trouble, and he runs to get Chaol and they discover the tunnel. They arrive to see a demon attacking Celaena, Fleetfoot (Celaena's dog) hurt, and Archer chanting out of the spell book. Chaol attacks the demon, Archer flees, and Dorian drags Celaena away. Celaena knocks him out, and sees the demon drag Fleetfoot through the portal and Chaol run after her. Celaena runs into the portal and immediately shifts from a human to a Fae, and attacks the demon with fire magic. They all get to safety and Celaena uses Dorian's magic blood to close the portal. Celaena then hunts down Archer in the tunnels and kills him, bringing his head before the King.
Chaol tells his father he wants to send Celaena away to Wendlyn to assassinate the King and his son, and that if he backs him up he will return to be the Lord of Anielle. His father agrees and they propose the idea to the King. He agrees, and tells Celaena to go to Wendlyn. She is panicked, not knowing how to get out of it, but Elena tells her to go. Before she leaves, she says goodbye to Dorian, and then says goodbye to Chaol at the docks. She tells him about the Wyrdkeys and everything she's learned, and then tells him the date of her parents' death and leaves. He is confused, and researches the date, and realizes that Celaena is actually Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, lost queen of Terrasen, and he just sent her away to the land of her distant Fae relatives.
Storyline: The storyline in this book was a little slow for me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Representation: Nehemia is the only POC, and she has herself killed in order to motivate and progress Celaena's character, which is a huge issue I have with this book.

ToG Read-a-Long, Crown of Midnight, day 3
Ch 17
“Nehemia was easily the most stunning woman in the ballroom, and he hadn’t failed to notice how many men — and women — had been watching her all night”
A court of EVERYONE’S BISEXUAL
I want a spin off book where Nehemia gets to make out with every single character.
Also, hell yeah, awaken the magic in this Prince he totally needs more conflict with daddy dearest lol
18
BOOM let’s go ice king Dorian
Do I still like Dorian! (Yeah! I do!) Do I think he’s in eminent danger! (Yeah kinda!) I still wanna root for him.
19
A carnival how FUN
it’s almost Chaol’s birthday and Dorian and Chaol were almost being normal with each other again
(Gifting him a horse)
(How sweet)
(What’s Celaena going to gift him I wonder?)
20
Honestly getting a little bored again
I did think of trying to solve the riddle? Is it an anagram? Ah Time’s rift / the smif Rita/ as if the trim/ that fire sim / (that’s all I got) (I’m sorry Celaena)
(She’s real sad about her past and her dead family)
(I’m sorry Celaena)
21
Plot plot plot. I like reading about Celaena being a badass
22
Dorian struggles with his new powers
Meanwhile Chaol and Celaena go on a romantic birthday date! CELAENA YOU ARE LITERALLY THE CUTEST.
Ok here’s my opinion though.
I think it’s really, really dangerous what she’s doing. I know she’s smart and probably very capable and stuff, but I actually feel like disobeying the king is a BAD IDEA. I mean I know the king is a huge POS. But why, specifically, is she not going through with killing his targets? Is it because Elena told her not to? Is she going to protect her when the time comes? Because you just KNOW this is all gonna go wrong.
Idk
I like Chaol, but I don’t think that was necessarily a GOOD reaction, yikes! I think she was probably hoping for more along the lines of Nehemia’s enthusiasm. Chaol’s like “wow no my loyalty” “oh no” “my heart” this boy is all conflict….
Well!
I grit my teeth and read onwards, I guess.
23
Ok I was *WRONG* Chaol was not being a loyal-to-the-throne doofus he was being a romantic doofus. Well, that makes me feel better!
ALSO HOORAY FOR LOSING YOUR VIRGINITY!
(That’s the best birthday gift.)
All aboard the good ship Chaol x Celaena! Toot toot!

Throne of Glass: Re-Read Brief Thoughts/Moments
“I will not be afraid. For a year, those words had meant the difference between breaking and bending; they had kept her from shattering in the darkness of the mines.”
Friendships:
Nehemia
“I’d like to see Eyllwe very much.” Nehemia’s gaze lingered on Celaena’s brow for a moment before she grinned. “Then it shall be so.”
“Cain and Verin laughed, but she and Nehemia walked away, the princess holding her hand tightly. Not from fear or anger, but just to tell her that she understood . . . that she was there. Celaena squeezed her hand back. It had been a while since someone had looked out for her, and Celaena had the feeling she could get used to it.”
“I sense much worry in you,” Nehemia said suddenly, “and I hear much that you do not say. You never voice any of your troubles, though your eyes betray them.” Was she so transparent? “We’re friends,” Nehemia said softly. “When you need me, I’ll be there.”
“No one has called me friend in a long time,” the assassin said. “I—” [...] “Thank you, Nehemia,” she said with sincerity. “You’re a true friend.”
“Nehemia squeezed her hand. “You’re my dearest friend, Celaena. It hurt me—hurt me more than I realized it would—to have things become so cold between us. To see you look at me with such distrust in your eyes. And I don’t want to ever see you look at me like that again. So I wish to give to you what I have given to few before.” Her dark eyes shone. “Names are not important. It’s what lies inside of you that matters.I know what you went through in Endovier. I know what my people endure there, day after day. But you did not let the mines harden you; you did not let it shame your soul into cruelty.”
“I name you Elentiya.” She kissed the assassin’s brow. “I give you this name to use with honor, to use when other names grow too heavy. I name you Elentiya, ‘Spirit That Could Not Be Broken.’ ”
“Our paths might be entwined, but . . . but I think you must continue to travel your own road for now. Adjust to your new position.”
Listen, I love them so much and it was so much more emotional reading this back. Their friendship was by far one of my favourites throughout the book, and I think I didn’t truly appreciate it for what it was worth the first time I read the book.
Chaol
“Friend?” he asked. She blushed. “Well, ‘scowling escort’ is a better description. Or ‘reluctant acquaintance,’ if you prefer.” To her surprise, he smiled.”
Despite myself I still adore their dynamic, I am a sucker for the reluctant friend, who starts slowly adoring the person. I felt for him and her at their own individual points. Even though tragedy awaits me ahead, despite myself I love them.
Dorian
“We all bear scars, Dorian. Mine just happen to be more visible than most. Sit there if you like, but I’m going to get dressed.”
“You deserve to be laughed at for such foolish thoughts! I spoke from my soul; you speak only from selfishness.
“You’re remarkably judgmental.”
“What’s the point in having a mind if you don’t use it to make judgments?”
“What’s the point in having a heart if you don’t use it to spare others from the harsh judgments of your mind?”
I did truly enjoy their dynamic through the book and though I didn’t ship it I certainly enjoyed their snarky banter.
Dorian x Chaol   (AKA one of my favourite lowkey dynamics)
“The worst of it was that they didn’t seem to notice he was different—or that he felt different. Were it not for Chaol, he would have felt immensely lonely.”
“You look radiant,” he said. “And you look radiant as well, Chaol.” He winked at his friend. ”
I just... Yes. This is my cup of tea, flirty guys.
Nox
“Nox and Celaena remained by the table. His eyes were wide. “You were a slave in Endovier?” She couldn’t form the words to confirm it. Nox was too smart for his own good.”
I remember enjoying his part in the book and I am glad to say it remained so, I truly hope we see him again because they meshed really well together!
Fleetfoot
“It’s cruel to keep it from its mother!” The assassin reached into the shadow and scooped the puppy into her arms. She held it against her chest. “I won’t let you harm it.”
It has not truly begun yet but I know my furbaby is amazing.
Quotes I Loved:
“Oh, how wrong he was! Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons”
“I hate women like that. They’re so desperate for the attention of men that they’d willingly betray and harm members of their own sex. ”
“That pretty boy? He grinned at me far too much—and you should only see how he winked at the other women in the court. I want a husband to warm my bed, and my bed alone.”  [LOVE YOU NEHEMIA!!]
“And what’s wrong with headstrong girls?” she pressed.
“No. I can survive well enough on my own—if given proper reading material.”
“My name is Celaena Sardothien,” she whispered. “But it makes no difference if my name’s Celaena or Lillian or Bitch, because I’d still beat you, no matter what you call me.”
And finally....
“You could rattle the stars,” she whispered. “You could do anything, if you only dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That’s what scares you most.”
I know you will bby, I know you will.
Urgh, wonderful. This book was like picking up an old friend, just as amazing as I remember it. At this point I doubt that there are many who haven’t read it but if you haven’t please give it a go if it sounds up your alley!
On to Crown of Midnight!

I don’t know why I remembered this just now but fun fact: as a confused and rep-starved baby gay when I read Throne of Glass I lowkey thought Celaena was meant to be bi because of the way some of these passages were written 😂
