05/01/23: A hundred dollar thrift store haul. Went to Salvation Army Store today, Monday. I missed out on tub full of legos cause I chose a box full of donated Disney blurays. And as I was going through them, a lady handed me something she saw, a box with a ps3 in it! It's loose but almost complete, as I couldn't find a power plug. It's a CECHL01 ps3. So no ps2 playback. It also came with a separate controller charger. And two controllers. I also found a 7-11 ps5 reusable bag. So I used that to put movies in it. There was quite a bit of animated titles, but their dvd half was kinda scratched up. Looks like the kid who watched them before, used the dvds more than the blurays. I left quite a few of them behind. Also, because I own them already too. The ones I chose here were in better conditions, and a few are multi discs. So I'll check to see which versions to keep. I also picked up toys. Some loose Lego pieces, dolls and plushies, which I'll sell off later on. It's a happy day to start the month.

LOKI, WANDAVISION, and THE MANDALORIAN Are Getting 4K UHD and Blu-ray Releases
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enjoying a show on a streaming service is a dangerous mission in our current world. You’ll dig the first season and its awesome cliffhanger only to discover that there will not be a second season. Or, even worse, a streaming service pulls the plug on a show you love and removes it from the service altogether. This is why physical media will never go out of style. If you own a copy of your fave movie or series, no one can take it away unless they physically fight you first. While Disney+ probably won’t remove its MCU nor Star Wars shows any time soon, you can now own physical copies of Loki, WandaVision, and The Mandalorian on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. These will be the first Disney+ original series to get a physical release.
These collector’s editions from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm will have Steelbook packaging, exclusive concept art, and bonus features. Here are the titles and release dates for the Disney+ MCU and Star Wars series that will have physical copies available on 4K UHD and Blu-ray.
Marvel Studios’ Loki: The Complete First Season: 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases on September 26, 2023
Marvel Studios’ WandaVision: The Complete Series:4K UHD and Blu-ray releases on November 28, 2023
Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete First Season: 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases on December 12, 2023
Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete Second Season: 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases on December 12, 2023
Right now, there aren’t more details for what WandaVision and The Mandalorian will offer with their 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases, but here’s what the Loki release will include:
Designing the TVA – Step into the incredible set of Loki Season 1 with Production Designer, Kasra Farahani, and Tom Hiddleston while getting a sneak peek into Season 2.
The Official TVA Orientation Video – Miss Minutes explains the inner workings of the TVA timeline in her orientation video. Gag Reel – Take a look at some of the fun outtakes on set with the cast and crew of Loki Season 1.
Deleted Scene: Loki’s Coronation – Mobius reviews some moments from Loki’s timeline, in which Frog Thor makes an appearance during Loki’s coronation.
Deleted Scene: The Standoff – Loki holds Sylvie hostage against the TVA in a standoff. Assembled: The Making of Loki – Loki explores the series centering on the MCU’s chief mischief maker.
We can also check out the artwork for these lovely releases. It will certainly make you want to add them to any collection that you already have or want to build. And, if the day ever comes when Disney+ doesn’t have MCU or Star Wars content anymore, you will own these shows forever in their physical forms.

Please, remember, that by deleting shows and movies, and edging psychical media out of existence Hollywood and streaming platforms are able to censor the media you have access to. It is not an accident that these things are happening at the same time as book bans are happening -- there is already speculation online about The Hays Code being revitalized.
The Hays Code was a set of rules put in place by the Catholic Church in the 1930s-1960s in order to illegally censor TV and film in the US.
The streaming industry is imploding and that is a good thing not just because of censorship but also because they abuse writers and actors.
At one point HBO/MAX swore that DCU content would be exclusive to their streaming platform. But now MAX is hemorrhaging money and is licensing DCU shows and movies out to other streaming platforms including free ones like Tubi. Thanks, Mindy❣️
Another sign that the industry is imploding is that Disney has released Disney+ exclusives like WandaVision and Loki season one on Bluray, and Netflix recently announced a Blu-ray release of the Wednesday series mere MONTHS after canceling their DVD subscription service.
If you want to support writers and actors, please invest in psychical media. If you are in Australia and want to collect psychical media invest in a region free Blu-ray player, and buy movies from Amazon, eBay, etc.
Remember that psychical media is an investment. If you buy a movie or whatever that you end up hating you can always resell it or donate it somewhere, and by investing in psychical media you are helping to preserve film history. If you're able to pirate, I highly recommend burning your favorite shows and movies onto DVDs for more secure storage.
Do not let small children handle your DVDs/Blurays cause nine times out of ten that is how they end up getting scratched and ruined. If you find fingerprints on a disc you can usually wipe them off with a microfiber cloth and the disc will play fine. You can also buy a disc cleaning machine.
If you cannot afford to buy Blurays/DVDs check out your local library as they often have movies you can rent for FREE. Also check out Gamefly which lets you rent movies on Blu-ray/DVD for like $11.99USD a month. It's basically old school Netflix -- and you can rent videogames from them too.
Most importantly remember--
If you buy more psychical media corporations will create more of it. That is how supply and demand works.
Cancel your streaming subscriptions and invest in psychical media.

Can you believe that Disney is ending their physical media (dvds, 4k, blurays) in Australia!?
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be the last Disney movie released physically.
LIKE WHY!???
Whose to say when this will come to the US (where I reside)?
Yes, movies will be on streaming, but you don't own it. It's basically like a public library, you're only borrowing the media, and if it's taken off that streaming platform, it's gone forever.
Going out to buy a movie when it gets released on DVD is a family pastime for me, and the fact that those enjoyments will be gone is scary and saddening.
It's just like how going out on a Friday night to a video rental store and getting a movie was the greatest feeling in thr world, and now that's gone too.
Physical media is important because it ensures that the media is you're forever because you own it forever.
I also hate streaming originals, like WandaVision, because you can't buy the series anywhere. It's only available on Disney Plus.
What if in the future, WandaVision is removed from Disney Plus, just like Infinity Train was HBO Max? What, then?
I just hate the fact that Disney will no longer be distributing physical media. That's just the future we have to look forward to.

Plenty of movie pick ups this week! We picked up Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (aka Aquaman 2) on 4K as well as the somewhat highly sought after James Cameron rereleases of True Lies and The Abyss on 4K which from what I hear they are in short supply being Disney underestimated the demand for them. I was lucky being I got the last one of each locally. Also one thing that is awesome is The Abyss comes with both the Theatrical and the Special Edition. and finally we picked up Disney's Wish but only on regular Blu-ray from what I know the 4K version isn't being sold in Canada? if its going to be a Walmart Exclusive that should mean ALL Walmarts not just the ones in the States. So I ended up getting it on just regular Blu-ray so in general I'm pretty happy with everything.

01/10/24: Had a great day fleamarket shopping. Found my usual fun, goodies. My first find was four dvds for $5.00. Then it was a big lot of stuff. The guy with a lot of media was there and for $29 it was all the items in the second pic. Four seasons of Archer, Legend of Korra, South Park and other discs. Two ps2 games, one ps4 game, two ps1 games and a dreamcast one too. And two old toys from the 90s. After this, it was for $6.00: a collectable card game and a Dogman plushie. Followed up by two Demon Slayer manga for $2.00 each. And after that a ps2 Guncon 2 controller for $5.00. Next place, I found some older stuff too. Dvds, VHS and comics, all for $10! I got another forbidden Disney item. A sing-along for Song of the South! And the last thing I bought was Napoleon Dynamite for PSP for $3.00. My first fleamarket find for the year is off to a good start!

Disney shutting down disney movie club and offloading physical media to Sony probably mean that my dream bluray releases of Ducktales, Goof Troop, Owl House, or New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are probably never happening :/
