Tumblr media
nanase haruka actually enjoys watching christmas movies. he likes to make you dinner (mackerel) beforehand and get cozy underneath the kotatsu while you debate which movie you should watch.
haru always chooses to watch elf, for some reason. you don't know why and he won't say why. but you always end up watching it with haru’s head resting in your lap and your fingers threading through his hair.
“you're laughing.” haru points out during the snowball scene in the movie, a soft smile reaching his eyes and making them crinkle. you raise an eyebrow at him before looking back up at the screen.
“yeah, elf’s funny!”
“i know, that's why i chose it.”
“because you think it's funny? i haven't seen you laugh once, haru!” you ruffle his hair lightly, earning a small whine from him.
“no, because you laugh. and i like it when you laugh. it's nice.” haru says simply, not taking his attention away from the screen. you raise your eyebrows as you look down at your introverted, sometimes emotionally constipated boyfriend.
of course, he's said romantic and sweet things to you before, but it always catches you off guard. his blatant honesty always comes out of nowhere and squeezes your heart till you're breathless.
you resume combing through his feather soft, raven black hair with your fingers and sigh happily. you're never exactly sure how to respond, but you knew that haru was never one for words anyways.
Tumblr media
matsuoka rin believes he's a master at decorating christmas cookies. he stands behind you and tries  to make it romantic by placing his hands over yours while you try to draw cute little drawings on the cookies.
but it really just ends up in a petty argument, much to both your chagrin and your delight. riled up rin is one of your favorite types of rins.
“why are you fighting me so much? i'm literally steering you in the right direction.” rin points a finger at the lopsided christmas tree on one of the cookies. “what is that?”
“christmas tree.” you answer with a shrug, purposely acting with such simple resolve that it made rin exasperated almost immediately.
“why does it look like that, though? it's uneven!”
“well, it has its own style!” a sly smile spreads across your lips. “looks like you could stand to have some, too.” you inch toward him with the piping bag in your hands, before quickly reaching up and swiping a glob of green frosting across rins cheek.
he narrows his eyes at you and grabs a piping bag from the counter, squeezing till some frosting squirts out and hits you in the nose.
this continues on for longer than the two of you would've liked, since now the kitchen and your bodies are covered in red, white, green, blue, and yellow frosting.
“i'm sorry.” rin huffs stubbornly, taking a wet paper towel and starting to wipe down the counter. “i just wanted the cookies to be perfect.”
you chuckle at rin’s furrowed eyebrows and slide up to him, splaying your hands against his chest while you hug him from behind. “who says they have to be perfect?”
he turns around in your hold, a soft smile relaxing his features. he takes your face in his hands, and you can tell he's fighting the blush that is breaking out across his cheeks. “perfect cookies for a perfect girlfriend?”
you smile and lean up to press a kiss to his blue frosting speckled cheek. “sweet.” you grin at him, licking your lips.
“now, let's go get cleaned up, hmm?” rin flashes you a toothy grin before grabbing you, tossing you over his shoulder with ease, and carrying you off to the bathroom.
Tumblr media
tachibana makoto is a master at decorating the christmas tree, since he's had tons of practice helping his younger siblings do it. you've not met another man with a better eye for design than makoto. there was one thing that he absolutely could not do, however, which would leave him totally depressed and helpless if he ever decorated a christmas tree by himself. the star.
sometimes he's tall enough to just stand on the tip of his toes and plop the star down, but he likes to get big and majestic trees. and he just can't do it.
he's afraid of the height. although it's a mere six feet up off the ground, which he already naturally is, it's something about getting up on a ladder and falling such a short distance onto the hard ground below that makes his stomach churn.
but, of course, he has you to do this for him!
“okay, ready?” makoto’s arms are encircling your knees and he's squatting below you, ready to lift you up whenever you’re ready. you've got the star in hand, all whites and yellows and gems and sparkles—it's makoto’s favorite thing. his weakness.
“ready whenever you are, mako!” you smile down at him and he hoists you up, holding steady while you situate the star on top of the tree until you're satisfied with the look. he carefully lowers you back down and holds you by the shoulders while you flip the switch to turn on the christmas tree.
the christmas tree glitters and shines in all of its white and gold glory while you and makoto look on in pure joy. he leans down to press a soft kiss to the top of your head and wraps his around around your shoulders, bringing you back to rest against his chest.
“couldn't have done it with you, y/n.” he sighs happily, eyes glowing with joy in the light of the tree you brought to life together.
Tumblr media
yamazaki sousuke is way too good at ice skating, like, it should be illegal for someone to be so handsome, so good at swimming, have such a good heart, and be good at ice skating. no one’s good at ice skating! especially not you.
you couldn't really help it, though. you had seen all these ads of this new pop up ice skating rink with an attached rooftop hot chocolate bar in downtown tokyo and you knew you just had to take your boyfriend there.
you thought it'd be cute to glide around the rink, fingers intertwined with sousuke’s, then stop for some delicious hot cocoa afterward. but instead, sousuke has to carry you back to your shared apartment on his back while you moan in pain. you'd taken a pretty nasty fall five minutes into ice skating, effectively twisting your ankle to hell and cutting the date night incredibly short.
sousuke sets you up on the couch, a pack of ice underneath your ankle, a blanket spread across your legs, and pillows propping you up.
“here you go, daredevil.” you look up to see sousuke holding a mug out to you, and you take it with a smile. you peer down into the mug and smile up at sousuke with excitement in your eyes when you see what's inside.
“you made hot cocoa?” you asked excitedly. sousuke smiles at you and places a kiss to your forehead before placing his own mug on the coffee table in front of the couch.
“'course i did, you didn't get to have any downtown.” sousuke gently moves your legs out of the way so he can prop them up on his lap, holding the pack of ice against your ankle for you.
“how are you so perfect, sou?”
“perfect for you.” he gives your leg a gentle, what was supposed to be affectionate, squeeze. you hiss in pain and he grimaces. “sorry, sorry!”

You've had a lot of haru with the tachibana in-laws hc, fo you have any makoto with the nanase in-laws hc?
yes but also it depends on what mood i am. Like am i in a "Nanase's are actually nice and not neglectful and Haru doesn't have abandonment issues bc of them" mood?
then, when Mama Tachibana was pregnant with the twins she was so incredibly fatigued that Makoto basically lived at the Nanase's for like half the year. Makoto would join them for every outing, big or small, he would go shopping with them and get to pick out his own cereal and favourite snacks and fruits, he was always allowed to have an input on what to have for dinner (if Haru was being extra grumpy then Mama Nanase and Makoto would just share a look before Makoto would say that he wants mackerel, bc they both know Makoto doesn't actually but that if they don't, then they're both have to deal with Haru's crankiness.) He joins them for big trips, of which there are many, the first time he visits the aquarium is with the Nanases, his first trip to an amusement part is with them; once during those 6 months they go to visit family in Osaka and Makoto joins them, bc ofc he does, he's family.
Papa Nanase is the reason Makoto can do maths. Whenever they come back to visit Haru, they always bring a present back for Makoto too.
When they're off to uni, I like to think about Mama Nanase teasing him about never having to worry about Haru back in Iwatobi bc she knew Haru-chan had his Mako-chan. Makoto would blush so deep, and she'd laugh at him. She'd tell him the only reason she could make such a difficult decision of leaving her son behind was bc she entrusted Haru to the one person who worried for him the way she did.
When MH are enganged, Haru says he wants to take Makoto's last name, but Makoto would feel super bad about it (bc Haru's an only child etc) but Papa Nanase would assure him that they're completely ok with it bc not only has Haru always been a Tachibana, but they're not "losing" anything when they're getting the best son in law imaginable. Makoto wears Papa Nanase's wedding tie to his own as the "something borrowed".
but when I'm in a bitter mood I just need Makoto to be resentful. He'd never say anything bad about them in front of Haru, bc Haru never has anything bad to say. But even that passing comment in s2 when Makoto asks when his parents will come home and Haru says at the end of summer, and Makoto responds with "your parents are such free spirits" i need that to be a snide remark that Makoto can't hold back. I need him to be petty. Because they're Haru's parents, Haru who's precious and deserves every ounce of love a person has to offer, Haru who is kind and independent and doesn't like to make a big deal of things when it comes to himself. Haru, who's looked after Makoto all his life, but never had anyone to look after him. Any comment about not needing to worry about Haru bc he was "in good hands with the Tachibanas" would not be met with kindness from Makoto. Yes, the Tachibanas love Haru like their own, but they should've loved him as such WITH the love of his own parents. The Tachibanas shouldn't have been a replacement. Makoto would be calm when tearing them apart, never raising his voice, never getting rude or disrespectful, but he'd be thorough, and absolutely make them face their sins.

ohhhh if akira endorses phantom thieves since day 1 i wonder how the okumura's murder affects his popularity! i guess it wouldn't tank with medjed like akechi's did but it would take a big blow after the whole "public thinks thieves kill people" huh..... but also the thieves (sans goro) would probably trust akira even more if he didn't backtrack on his words and continued to support them in public....... god your swap!au is so delicious!! i love all the little changes that snowball and paint a completely different picture <33
so factoid: he does slip up with the sushi comment, but ryuji and ann don't actually notice. goro and morgana are the only one who caught it.
ann and ryuji think that they just misremembered, especially because they don't remember him saying it at all (i always thought it was odd that ryuann picked up on princekechi's slip up considering how much the game loves to remind us that theyre not very observant)
goro is the only one out of all the phantom thieves that continues being suspicious of akira. even morgana eventually convinces himself that he just heard akira wrong. the phantom thieves wanted to include akira in from freakin madarame but since goro never allowed it (+ unanimous rule), he never joined until sae.
the phantom thieves all think that goro's being petty since he has a Thing going on with akira
Also, akira doesn't kill okumura!
he injures his shadow severely as he's returning to his real self, so he does induce a coma so that by the time okumura wakes up, his revenge (yes hes planning revenge) on shido will have been completed and there will be no repercussions for him to face after okumura confesses his crimes.
plus okumura becoming comatose would still backfire on the phantom thieves' popularity severely, especially since some mental shutdown victims do survive, but just become a vegetable (like ohya's journalist friend). the public would assume that okumura has also suffered a mental shutdown by the phantom thieves, though his mind is just repairing itself from the damage akira's done to his shadow
akira mostly lets him live because of his bond with haru—spoiler slight not spoiler he's familiar with losing family, no matter how distant, so he refuses to be the one to rob haru of her opportunity for an actual, happy family.
akira ends up joining the phantom thieves when they're at their very lowest, and when he's at his lowest; the phantom thieves sans goro agree to let him in immediately.
whew this is long 😭 sorry for infodump!!!

We don't talk enough about how cunning Aki and Haru were in the s2 finale against Yumoto.
They basically break him physically in the start. Easily overpowering him by their pure (petty) hatred
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then when they're interrupted, the twins know they have to change strategies with more physical force to try to keep Gora for themselves. Haru basically mocks Yumoto here, to in a way, distract him from his end goal of saving Gora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By wearing Yumoto down, physically and mentally, Aki and Haru decide to unleash the thing they know would fully break him, which is losing Gora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They do this sort of unintentionally, and end up panicking as they realize how they shouldn't have fucked with this kid. Even Atsushi notes on how sensitive Yumoto's own emotions are and how Yumoto's would overpower the twins'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't give the twins all of that credit but, I think they had a decent plan thought up when they would be fighting the Battle Lovers. They just didn't know what powers Yumoto's own emotions actually held.
Tumblr media
But, I can at least say, this finale could have been a lot darker

GET TO KNOW NEO
name — Neo and on some other blogs An-chan
pronouns— She/her
preferred comms — I get webhooks alerts to replies and asks, and tumblr very rarely alerts me to ims, but it is available to those who prefer communications via tumblr. Discord is the most reliable.
name of muse — Haru Miura on this blog and many more that i'm too lazy to list out on other blogs.
experience in RP — Around 16 years I think. Crazy as it is, I started out on Quizilla when you used to be able to message people. Then I moved to a proboards site when a friend invited me to join one she created. Was there for a long time. Dabbled a bit in RP'ing with a group on DeviantArt. Did a bit of skype rp from there. Then I moved to tumblr rp. I may have attempted to dabble in discord RP and ye- it's not exactly for me, but I can do it. I hate feeling limited though.
best experiences— Any iteration of: "You know, you made me change my mind on how I see Haru." Truly, the biggest serotonin boost I'd ever need in life. This is my goal in life. What I aspire to do with my writing. Not RP, but I got a Haru hater to like Haru after reading a few of my fics years back. You thought you were going to hate read and give hate? Jokes on you, I OPENED YOUR EYES.
pet peeves/dealbreakers — If you've reposted fanart without credit nor permission and i've talked to you about it and you dismissed my concerns about reposting fanart, i'll instantly block you. It's in my rules for a reason. Tho- I suppose that's just breaking my rules so maybe it doesn't count as a dealbreaker?
Not necessarily a peeve but more of a turn off, but I really don't like it when someone has the repeat energy of 'No one would want to rp with me, I don't see why I bother,' 'Did anyone miss me? No? Okay' etc. It probably sounds petty of me, but I don't like it. It dismisses the efforts of those who have been trying to connect to you, and I come onto tumblr to have fun, so I don't want to come here and feel bogged down. The energy actually disheartens me and brings my own mood down because I end up sympathizing with them too much. For the sake of my own mentality, I end up distancing myself.
muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — I enjoy fluff and angst a lot. Smut... depends... on the muse... and relationships... and how comfortable I am with the mun. I'm big shy in general so it can take time to warm me up to talking about smut in regards to muses. Once I'm used to talking to you about it and i'm comfortable with you, i'm pretty open about it. Truly, I'm big on troll humor though, so crack humor kinda threads really have my heart. If you wanna talk smut with me, you gotta be the one to bring it up because 99.5% of the time, it won't be me bringing it up first.
IF we aren't shipping, then you better hope one day I even reblog a risque meme for you to inquire about it. I'm a lil wary about talking about it to begin with.
plot or memes — Plots, as some of us know that i'm not very keen on memes as my relationship with the inbox is not positive. Still working on it though, one blog at a time. Memes are fun when i'm in the mood for them. This goes for reblogging them or sending in to people.
long or short replies — Both are fine with me, and both are great in their own right. Long ones are nice as they give you a lot to explore but it also takes a while to reply to and it can tire me out. Short threads are short and simple. They're nice, and then you get me being suddenly inspired and whoops- suddenly it's a long thread. (short replies = 3 paragraphs in my mind).
best time to write — I'm finding myself to be more active in the night hours, so the PMs. I do tend to be high inspiration in the AMs, but i'm usually at work or low energy. So that's when I spend the time thinking of what i'll write and then stow those ideas for when I do have the energy.
are you like your muse?: I've been told that I'm very much like Haru, and it's mostly in some habits, i'd say. Haru is a way better human than I am. Fit for life. I, a dehydrated prune is not fit for life. We both share our troll heart, our tendency for conspiracy thoughts, dramatics, speaking in third person and such. Basically, consider me the unhealthy introvert AU for Haru.

I KNOW SOME OF UR OCS, but idk the ships they go with. So I'll just ask the name of one and you can choose whoever you pair them with or lakfjwer you get it B) SO HARU!! and 3-4, 11, 17, 19, 24, and 30!
Lol well Haru and Vince are the few ocs that don't really have a permanent/fleshed out love interest. Haru I may draw self indulgent stuff with Apollo actually would not be interested in him more than a just a good ol buddy ol pal. He is however in love with the goddess of dawn, Eos who is his basically mentor's sister. For funsies though I'll answer for Apollo/Haru.
3. What was their first impression of each other? Haru was sent to Apollo by Helios to learn archery and his first impression of Apollo was he was very bright and if it weren't for his affinity to light he'd probably be blinded. Haru being a brand new god he gained some notoriety so Apollo thought he was very small and intriguing.
4. Who initiates affection? Why does the other not initiate affection as much? Apollo always. Haru is a very bashful guy, he would have to very comfortable to find the courage to be able to.
11. How do they feel about nicknames/pet names? If they like them, what pet names do they use? If they hate them, why do they feel that way? Haru doesn't mind but he wouldn't give Apollo a pet name or nickname as he'd think it would be extremely rude for him to. Apollo calls Haru many things from, my little godling/dear godling, ect ect.
17. How well do they communicate? Are they open with their feelings/thoughts or more reserved? Why? Yes and no. lol well Haru is naturally open and genuine with is feelings for the most part and wouldn't feel the need to hide anything from the god of prophecies. Apollo however very reserved about certain things. He simply feels Haru doesn't need to know the things he's done in his past. They do communicate well enough but if Haru accidentally digs into something Apollo doesn't wish to speak about he'll be quick to change the subject & Haru is never one to pry. He’s patient enough to wait for Apollo to open up on his own time.
19. Do they wear each other’s clothes/jewelry? Since jewelry is a huge thing in this whole storyline ( their souls/powers and shit being tied to gems ) it would be a huge sign of trust to share. As for clothes no way lol haru is much to small and would drown in Apollo's robes.
24. How do their personalities affect their relationship? Do their characteristics compliment each other, or clash often? They are very similar in some regards, sharing the power of light, healing, and fiery heat. They are bubbly optimists who quite literally light up a room. However Apollo holds a very cruel side to him that Haru would never get or understand. They get along well until those other traits of Apollo’s rear their ugly head. The petty, arrogant, cruelness to him that Haru would boldly claim he dislikes.
30. What are their respective love languages? Do their love languages work well together? Haru's love language is probably a mixture of acts of service and physical touch. He thrives of being physical and doing anything for a loved one. While Apollo gives gifts as his main show of love while in return he loves words of affirmation. praise cuz ofc a god has a worship/praise kink. For the most part their love languages work. Haru does not mind giving compliments or lovely words to please Apollo, but he does get very modest and humble when it comes to accepting Apollo's gifts which sometimes upsets Apollo.

Appmon 51
we’re in the endgame!
Tumblr media
i like that, as wacky as Appmon can be, the science is very grounded. Leviathan needing “heroes” or “protagonists” to challenge him is a cool twist, and it’s hinted back when Haru and co. broke Hajime (then Sleepmon) out of L Corp. (it also retroactively explains why the earler villains oscillated between ‘genuinely threatening’ and ‘kind of petty’, even when it’s the same character—looking at you, Mienumon.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes sense that Leviathan is invested to develop Haru into a suitable protagonist through Yuujin, though a part of me is a little curious about what it’d be like if Haru had different interests or another personality.
Again: i think it’s fascinating how much Haru shaped Yuujin and vice versa—Yuujin is literally created to appeal to Haru, and through Yuujin’s encouragement (among other things), Haru is able to become a worthy protagonist himself. They influence on each other becomes a feedback loop, which I assume is the kind of thing Leviathan planned for. (However, I do think this kind of feedback loop development is going to bite Leviathan in the ass—sure, he’s able to control Yuujin via YJ14 so far, but we’ve also seen YJ14 be distracted by Yuujin peeking out. After all, the influence between Haru and Yuujin goes both ways.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this is interesting. They’ve told us that Appmons can be revived before, but I’m guessing once an AI has apprealized in the physical world, all the data is stored locally in their body? so like... if Gatchmon and co. had been deleted in the physical world, they're perma-dead?
And on a semi-related note... Haru’s grandpa Deneimon had uploaded his brain onto the cloud before dying in the physical world, and he how exists as an AI (minus the ‘artificial’ part i guess); I’m pretty sure he can technically come back if they apprealize him in the physical world, though the legal ramifications are more complicated. Maybe, like appmons, DeneiMON will live again in the physical world via apprealization (this is mostly a joke.)
It’s also interesting to see what Minerva’s role in this whole thing is, since Haru and co. being chosen actually worked out really well for Leviathan. Also, Minerva apparently had been sleeping???
Tumblr media
the climax of the episode is to wake her up, so like. all those times we thought it was Minerva interacting with the kids... was that actually Leviathan in disguise? Leviathan was a part of Minerva...... but Yuujin’s AppDrive question doesn’t really make sense imo if Minerva wasn’t the one asking it—I think that question is too heroic, if that makes sense? it poses too much unnecessary risk for Yuujin to develop a sense of self and/or determination to save Haru, at the cost of his intended functionality. If it was Leviathan setting everything up, it could’ve been a generic heroic question like “will you brave danger to save people” or w/e. By specifying a target of protection (”Do you have a friend you would lay down your life for?”) it focuses Yuujin’s purpose into a specific target (Haru) as opposed to humanity as a whole (what Leviathan sees himself as ‘helping/saving’ with the Human Application Project).
speaking of the Big Wake-Up Call, that entire plan is insane. I love it, but damn that’s some crazy shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haru... I know the whole thing about your hero’s journey can be summed up with “when someone kind like you takes action, you’ll be invincible” but like. I’m pretty sure the invincibility is metaphorical.
like, good job waking Minerva up (and the Katsura Bros being absolute treasures) but like... Haru maybe you shoulda thought this through a bit more?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annnd that’s it folks!
Anyway. Prior to Haru taking a swan dive off the roof, I do think there’s a really cool point of comparison between what’s going on in the physical world and what’s going on within Leviathan with the appmon buddies:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the physical world, Eri and Astra confront YJ14. All participants here treat Yuujin and YJ14 as the same entity—Eri and Astra writes Yuujin off as a traitor from the start, YJ14 sees the betrayal as his raison d'être (and ‘Yuujin’ as nothing more than a mask that is entirely under his control, even though Yuujin surfaced briefly in ep 49).
Meanwhile, as the appmon buddies try to get to the core of Leviathan and Offmon stays behind to hold the pursuers off...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... it’s Dokamon and Musimon who goes teary-eyed and promises to honor Offmon’s final request.
I just think it’s really neat how Eri and Astra have officially declared Yuujin to be an enemy, because they cannot see that Yuujin is 1) separate from YJ14 to some degree and 2) worthy of being saved, while their appmon buddies are shown to be the most vocal to trust Offmon’s judgement about his partner and is willing to see Yuujin as someone who can be saved/not one and the same as YJ14.

“He was an assassin, Sokka.”
Tumblr media
‘Jet has a high opinion of himself and the Freedom Fighters.’
‘Jet thinks he’s a threat to the Fire Nation.’
‘Jet thinks they’ll send assassins after him.’
‘Jet thinks he’s actually making an impact in the war.’
I’m kind of tired of this take, but before I get into it, I’d like to go over something else.
Gaipan
People always seem to think he’s obsessing over this tiny village that has a few soldiers, but Gaipan was a military outpost. There were a ton of soldiers there, probably more Fire Nation than Earth Kingdom.
When Pipsqueak talks about cutting off their supply line, that’s weapons or materials to aid their soldiers in the war. The Freedom Fighters weren’t kids getting petty satisfaction from messing with some soldiers. They were actually interfering with the Fire Nation military.
It’s not impeding the overall efforts of the Fire Nation, but it is preventing them or at least slowing them down from sending out soldiers to burn down or take over other villages.
I think Jet and the Freedom Fighters have more impact than most of the fandom recognizes. Definitely not on a large scale though. Just that they are actually helping people, which is more than what many of the adults do.
It was a lie
We’ve actually seen Smellerbee use similar knives to this.
Jet is using this moment to lie.
If this were actually true, Smellerbee or Pipsqueak would have told Jet right there.
Also the man was frail. And I know this show has a lot of old men as fighters, but everything from the narrative and the way the episode went was pointing toward this being a lie. The way Sokka tells Jet he lied, the way Jet continuously lies throughout the episode, the way Sokka brings up the old man helping him.
We’re meant to come away from this that Jet lied about nearly everything. He used the assassin dagger to make himself look innocent to Katara, Sokka, and Aang. There isn’t confirmation he believed it. If so, why leave the man alive? Why would he leave an assassin, a Fire Nation assassin, alive? They could have waited for Sokka to leave and then killed the old man.
And Sokka was prepared to fight soldiers with Jet. He may be uncomfortable, but if the man was really an assassin, all the more reason that Jet would finish him off and no one would protest.
“They’d love to find you. Wouldn’t they, Jet?”
Smellerbee says this. (This is the one point where I can see people thinking Jet believes too highly of himself, but weirdly the assassin line is brought up more.)
From what we’ve seen in the show, the Fire Nation has never needed reasons to harm or kill people. A nation that believes they’re superior, that are taught they need to help/guide/civilize the rest of the world, that strips people of their cultures and homes, etc, would never be okay with anyone revolting against them, least of all people outside the Fire Nation.
Take Teo and his people. They were living in an Air Temple, far away from contact with anyone. The Fire Nation showed up and threatened to kill them before they knew Teo’s dad could build weapons. Essentially they wanted to kill people that were completely separate from the war and who were occupying land the Fire Nation seemingly lost interest in.
It’s a show of power, the need to have everyone and everything under your control. The belief that you’re better and your beliefs are better. There was no military benefit to killing Teo’s family or threatening them, at least not until they started getting weapons.
What reason is there to burn down a village but to subjugate and to enforce dominance and pain? Many villages would have already sent out people to join the war efforts, so they would be defenseless. Not every situation was like Haru’s village, where the Fire Nation used them for labor.
What great threat did Teo’s people pose to the Fire Nation? What great threat did Jet’s or Longshot’s village pose to them?
The Fire Nation could and, I fully believe, would send soldiers to kill all the Freedom Fighters. Even in modern wars, countries have at times deployed far more force than necessary due to pride or outrage that a certain group would dare to defy them.
The Fire Nation, who’s committed genocide on the Air Nomads and Southern waterbenders and nearing their victory to the war----
And you’re telling me they wouldn’t be pissed that a bunch of orphans whose own people won’t help are resisting? Are fighting back?
So Jet lied about the old man being an assassin, but I think he believed the Fire Nation would want him and the others dead and that’s absolutely realistic and not conflating his importance because the Fire Nation has killed regardless of whether or not that person was important in war efforts and even the slightest defiance was always treated with harsh punishments.

mayhaps could you write some sanzu and rindou bf headcanons pls ur mitsuya one was so cute
%% SANZU AS YOUR BOYFRIEND #!/
character ; aged up!Sanzu Haruchiyo
a/n ; i only write one character for bf hc sorry ! in this hc Sanzu would be a normal person who leave his delinquent era, if we're talking about bonten!sanzu as your bf man i don't think it would be a healthy relationship 💀
Tumblr media
sanzu as your boyfriend he would be that i hate everyone except you bf (?) or that soft bf you would die to protect him no in between OHHH OR THAT BF WHO IS VERY ELEGANT AND CALM BUT ACTUALLY A DORK
from how i see him, in the manga, ofc he's very loyal *cough*
in the beginning of your relationship, he would actually treat you like sort of royalty
and is not much a talker he love to listen more than talking so most of the times he would listen to your little rant with his closed eye smile
when he loosen up he would be a noisy boyfriend but in a good way like he open up to you telling you how was his day with Toman, how he dislike someone or something its actually very cute when he talk about something he dislike with that little frown and more can you imagine it? cuz i can
anyways you know how he always wear mask right? in the beginning of your relationship he would refuse to reveal his whole face you rarely see him without mask and sometimes he overthink what if one day you saw his scars and leave him
but when then when you accidentally walk into his room while he was not wearing mask he start panicking while you just stare then walk toward him cupping his face ignore all of his empty threat toward you
"woah is this how you look like without mask?" you said stare at him while he shut his eyes then feel you place a kiss on each of his scars, then he open his eyes, he noticed no sign of disgust nor any other negative emotion other than adoration he start to relax a smile appear on his face
"you're not disgusted?" he ask you frown heart a little hurt from his words "why would i be? you look absolutely stunning and beautiful and handsome with this scars damn you're even hotter with this scars" you gushes he giggle before shutting you up with his palm
HE HAVE THE PRETTIEST GIGGLE AND LAUGH EVER so its your goal to make him laugh :( because he rarely laugh even if you joke about something ( he only give you his closed eyes smile )
he's also very insecure of his scars so when you start praising and gushing how pretty his scars is he blush or have a smile on his face then shut you up when the compliment start to overwhelm him
he also let you braid his hair yk his hair is long right? he also didnt mind walking around with whatever hairstyle you made even with little butterfly clip and shinny clip he did not care if anyone dare to say anything he would beat them up yay!
date with him would either be a regular date or home date with both of you watching movie ( dont even ask this i feel like he prefer being indoor more than outdoor )
OHHHHH he let you dress him up in any type of clothes cuz Sanzu said "its just a clothes they doesn't have gender" yes Sanzu say it louder so the one at the back can hear you
anyways~~ he would also let you paint his nail only if you wear matching colour as him ( he didnt mind you paint his nail he just want to match with you tbh )
he's also the type that get you a matching bracelet and he would never take it off ever
he'll get sad when he saw you not wearing the bracelet but will never tell you he try to ignore it but end up asking you why you didn't wear it when you were cuddling
he's also very possessive, not in unhealthy way but in unhealthy way, he would always to tell anyone you're his and he's yours, either kissing you in public or have his hands around your waist or shoulder
he's just afraid you would leave him :( please reassure him you're not
anyways he's also be that type of boyfriend who get jealous easily but will never admit it but you'll always knew from how petty he is
"Haru are you jealous?"
"pfft no why in the hell i would be jealous?"
"then will you help me with this?"
"ask (random name) to help you"
"ok"
"wait no!-"
ok lets say the division captain, vice division captain, the president and vice president of Toman was very close with each other and have a scheduled hang out twice a month and they were allowed to bring their s/o
then when one of them *cough* Mucho ideas *cough* try to make him jealous just for fun and start taking your attention from him
then him noticed what they were doing and start bring you close to him glaring at them "she's mine dumbass find you own s/o" yk like that one horimiya scene this as preference how he and maybe Mikey or Baji or even Emma 'fight' over you
he love tickle fight!!! because he love to hear your laugh no matter how ugly you think your laugh is he would still think its beautiful
when cuddling he prefer being a small spoon but he didn't mind being a big spoon if you wanted him too but most of the time he want to be a small spoon because he love the feeling of feeling safe
what else let me think
oh he would be that type of boyfriend who bluntly turn anyone down or just ignore them if they tried to flirt with him then when he saw you he would have this adorable smile and jog toward you talking about how someone was annoying him *cough* that person who flirt with him *cough*
he would also be that type of boyfriend that need to touch you all the time when he's start to getting comfortable with you
his love languages are physical touch and act of service
he would be that yk type of boyfriend who literally drag you away from anywhere when he find put you overwork yourself like training or whatever you did because he doesn't want his precious s/o to get sick
speaking of getting sick he suprisingly have a low antibody (?) and always get sick especially during winter so he love it when you come over and take care of him
when holding hands he love to intertwine your hands together or holding one of your finger—like yk how babies hold your finger yeah that one idk how to explain— or both of you would link your pinkies together <33 so cute
love to have you on his lap while his head resting on your shoulder and both of his arm wrapped around your waist or shoulder he didn't mind your size
i think he's secretly a sweet tooth but will never admit it—i just got the vibe from his hair colour—he love it when you bring sweet for him

Imma need your Morgana thoughts to see whether or not youre a person of culture /hj (seriously though with all the hate he gets and your analytical takes on akechi that i saw pop up on my dash i am VERY curious about your thoughts on my boi)
I apologize in advance for this monster essay. I did not realize I had so many thoughts on Morgana. I'm not sure if this ask was for the ask game I was doing but I'm not going to write this in that format because my actual Morgana thoughts are too complex for that, hopefully you won't mind lol.
Morgana is a sweet boi and deserves all the love, I'm not sure why he gets so much hate but I have some suspicions.
For one, I think his arc during Okumura's Palace is...messy. That section of the game is written worse than the rest imo, and it messes with his arc some. His banter with Ryuji comes across as lighthearted until it suddenly doesn't and he takes everything personally and just ditches everyone. He goes from 0 to 100 and I think it's because there isn't enough build up to him leaving. I would have been completely lost why he was so touchy if my older sibling (who'd already played the game) didn't tell me he was upset because Futaba took his place on the team. It can come across as him being petty when that's not the case at all, at least in my opinion.
Morgana used to work alone, and he thinks he's just helping out the Thieves for his own gain. Honestly, he's actually incredibly similar to Akechi. He thinks he can handle everything on his own and doesn't need friends, is a bit too cocky for his own good, and is the "smart guy." (Though, of course, he overestimates his own intelligence just a bit, haha. I can see why that arrogance might annoy some people but personally I find it endearing. He a baby kitty boi.)
Before the Thieves saved him he thought he was capable all on his own and didn't need help, but of course he was proven wrong by the fact he even needed saving. Not that he'd ever admit it in a thousand years. He sticks with the Thieves not because he thinks he needs them, but because they need him, and they're useful to him. And that's exactly his problem.
Morgana stops being "needed" the more Thieves join the group. Makoto becomes the "smart guy." Futaba all but replaces his job as the navigator. He doesn't have a "job" in the Thieves, but that's how he values himself. If the Thieves don't "need" him, if he's not contributing somehow to the team, why should they want him at all?
Morgana's always felt like the odd one out among the Thieves. He's not an outcast like the rest. He can't even remember his past at all, let alone if he was ever unwanted. He has no person whose heart he wants to change. And of course, he's a cat. He's not even a human like the rest of them. He doesn't fit.
Of course, him not fitting in is exactly what makes him the perfect Phantom Thief, but he can't see that yet.
So Ryuji's digs hurt worse than before. Morgana feels worthless and unwanted. And when the Thieves can't make a decision, he decides to prove to them that he is worthwhile. They need him, so they should want him.
But of course, the Thieves don't care if he's "needed." Morgana is their friend, and they want him on their team even if he isn't strictly useful or needed anymore. And eventually, that's exactly what he learns. When Haru is cornered by her asshole of a fiance, he tries to defend her but is once again "useless" and is merely kicked to the side. But the Thieves come to save him and Haru, and Ryuji defends Morgana. He finally learns that it doesn't matter if he's "useful." The Thieves are his friends anyway.
He doesn't need to be needed. He can be weak, and he can be "useless," because the Thieves don't like him for his usefulness but for him.
The other thing I think gets on people's nerves (and also does annoy me to an extent) is his crush on Ann. It's...overplayed, and can come across as a bit misogynistic on the part of the writers. It can be cute but I think Morgana goes on about it so much that people think it's his only motivation for being human. It's certainly part of it, but it's not the whole reason. He wants to be human to "fit in." But like the rest of the Thieves, Morgana doesn't need to fit in. He needs to be himself. This is another thing I could see annoying people--the whole human obsession is a bit overplayed and I could see it getting on people's nerves. I find it a bit annoying when the joke continues after he's supposed to have already learned his lesson, but I think that's just subpar writing, not Morgana being a terrible character.
Then we have the other reason Morgana joined the Thieves, and the main thrust of his motivation for helping them for a lot of the game--his lost memories of his past. That takes us to the very end of vanilla and the final boss.
Morgana learns that he was created to guide the Phantom Thieves. This is exactly where he always belonged. He's not human, but that's okay--he's served his purpose as the Wild Card's companion perfectly as the cat that he is. And with his purpose served, he disappears, imparting the Thieves with one last word of wisdom.
But Joker isn't done with Morgana. Once again, it doesn't matter to him if Morgana's usefulness has been served. He wants Morgana to be his friend, be his cat, anyway. All of the Thieves do. In the end, Morgana is a Phantom Thief not because he was created to guide them, but because they're his friends. They love their cat friend, just for him. And so Morgana comes back through sheer force of Joker's will, manifested in the real world because Joker was so convinced that Morgana belongs with him. It doesn't matter why he might have been initially created, and that he's fulfilled his destiny. What matters is that Morgana is Joker's cat, and he loves him.
Anyway. I love Morgana. He's arrogant and adorable and amusing to no end. (He and Ryuji are hilarious, and I love his dynamic with Haru, I really wish we got more of that.) I could go into his arc in the 3rd Semester but it's mostly a retread of his previous arc and him discovering for good that his usefulness isn't what gives him worth, he doesn't need to "fit in," and he's allowed to be weak sometimes. Plus this essay is long enough already. He's baby and he deserves the world.
Ah. There is also that whole thing about him making the player go to bed every night. That probably contributed to the hate. It's not Morgana's fault vanilla was designed poorly and limited your actions too often, lmao.

The Kaiser wasn’t very good at being a villain (and that’s the point, actually)
Tumblr media
Ken’s journey of redemption is generally well-documented overall, and it was explicit enough in the series that there’s only so much you really need to explain it, but due to the blurred boundary of what was supernatural influence from the Dark Seed and what was Ken’s own emotional problems wreaking havoc, it’s somewhat more difficult to bridge that gap between the Kaiser and Ken, and how they can be the same person.
The easiest way to understand it comes from both directions. One is that Ken, even in his normal element, is much more assertive than he’s often given credit for -- it’s just that the Kaiser is a (fragile) manifestation of that very carefully cultivated to channel that in all of the wrong directions. The other has to do with the fact that the Kaiser is actually really terrible at being a villain, and the persona itself is very fragile and difficult for him to maintain.
Rewatching the first half of 02 shows multiple indications that, for all he seemed to be the stereotype “evil genius”, Ken was forcing himself into the mold. He was never cut out for it from day one. Even from the beginning, Ken’s actual nature as a lonely and inherently kind eleven-year-old child was tearing apart at the Kaiser persona, and the fateful episode 21 was not so much a single turning point for him as much as it was the last straw in a series of things tumbling down for him.
Before we continue: While all of the meta on this blog is only possible thanks to support and input from a handful of friends (whose names will not be disclosed on account of privacy requests), this one in particular arose from a long and extensive discussion with said friends that I am extremely grateful for. As always, I hope I was able to convey your points well.
Tumblr media
Well, firstly, it’s important to understand that, much like nearly any other character in this series, Ken’s surface demeanor is a bit deceptive. The Crest of Kindness has the original Japanese name of yasashisa (優しさ), which has a secondary meaning of “gentleness” (lost in translation, but still apparent with the bubble metaphor in 02 episode 23). That also ties into the secondary meaning of “kind” -- it’s not just about being naturally “soft”, but actively choosing to be gentle with others even when you’re theoretically capable of not doing so. (For those of you who have seen Appmon, the entire point of that series was about what it means to consciously and deliberately choose to be kind, and, in fact, quite a few parallels could be made between Ken and Haru...)
The contrast between Daisuke and Ken goes far beyond just the surface. Daisuke’s surface demeanor is abrasive, but he’s not actually very good at being assertive until push comes to shove, and he otherwise tends to bend easily to others or get overwhelmed; in contrast, Ken has a more polite demeanor and for the most part seems non-confrontational, but has much stronger control of his emotions and is more easily able to be assertive than Daisuke is. (Of course, both of them share the common point of being like-minded when it’s something that really matters, but Ken is much better at imposing his will and getting what he wants done before Daisuke ever gets to that point, which is what fuels the whole punchline of Daisuke and Ken’s Shopping Carol.)
Tumblr media
So, the point is: Daisuke is kind out of instinct and just “naturally” being so, but Ken is kind because he consciously believes in treating others well and not causing conflict, and not causing pain to others.
That’s not to say that Ken’s behavior is out of suppression or anything! It’s not a case like Takeru, who’s trying to push complicated emotions down while pretending they’re not boiling under the surface, nor is he like Hikari, who’s compulsively pressing her emotions down out of a desire not to burden others. Rather, even as early as 02 episode 26, he’s very straightforward about what his issue is and what he thinks about it. Ken’s “shyness” during the latter half of 02 is largely due to shame and hesitation from not knowing the other 02 kids well, but as the series goes on and as we go into post-02 material, he indicates that he’s perfectly wiling to be vocal about what he thinks without necessarily fighting any compulsion to suppress it. For someone who claims he doesn’t know much about his own heart, he arguably seems to have the best grip on understanding himself compared to a lot of this cast!
So in essence, the main take-home here is that Ken is theoretically capable of being strong-willed and assertive, and is very good at choosing when he wants to be assertive and when he wants to hold back. And he likes seeing people get along, and he wants everyone to be happy, and he doesn’t like seeing people be hurt or hurting others, and under normal circumstances, Ken has very good control of his emotions for the most part and quite a lot of self-awareness. That’s why Ken is the one to get the unique designation of this Crest; everyone in this cast can be said to be generous and supportive of others in some form, but there’s a difference between being a “natural” doormat who defers to others by default (Daisuke being a very good indicator of how this kind of mentality has a flip side of lack of self-esteem and high insecurity, and Tamers’s Takato being a good indication of how “being deferential” doesn’t necessarily preclude you from having tendencies towards selfishness or cowardice), versus choosing to be kind by understanding everything and still being gentle out of a belief that it’s the right thing to do (again: see Shinkai Haru). And it’s why Wormmon says in the 02 episode 23 flashback that Ken’s kindness can be used against him; being “kind” in this way requires a lot of mental fortitude, strength, and guts, all of which are things that could easily be very bad things when applied in the wrong direction.
This means that all the Dark Seed really needed to do in order to turn him into the Kaiser...was make him lose grip on that self-control.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually, Ken says it himself in less-than-subtle words in Spring 2003:
…It was revenge. But who was this revenge against? Did I want to triumph over the ones who made fun of me? The ones who looked down on me and used me? But… In the end, it was revenge against myself. I couldn’t do anything but deny the kind of human being that I was.
So in other words, the Kaiser persona was, effectively, a self-loathing eleven-year-old boy throwing a massive tantrum. A lot of the Kaiser’s actions in the first half of 02 are honestly rather petty -- he’s basically upset at the kids spoiling his holiday in 02 episode 6, he attempts torturing Daisuke out of a petty grudge over a soccer sliding tackle in 02 episode 8, and everything to do with expanding his territory and eventually (hopefully?) becoming ruler of the Digital World is frankly very sloppy. For all he’s said to be a genius, his genius only seems to extend to book smarts, and his “tactical planning abilities” never really expand beyond that of a soccer field sort of affair; his way of locking down control on other things is basically just “brainwash it harder” or “whip it harder” and applying harder brute force instead of doing something in the long-term like, say, trying to rule with charisma and recruiting allies.
(Again, bringing Appmon back into this, seeing Cloud in action will give you a much better example of a charismatic human villain who’s actually competent at his job. Or, heck, you can even look back at Savers’s Kurata, who at least was savvy enough to pull strings with people in powerful positions. Or even the Kaiser’s predecessor Saiba Neo from V-Tamer, who may have been openly sadistic but still had the sense to align himself with background power. Really, compared to all of these folks, the Kaiser is downright pathetic.)
Remembering that Ken fell into the Kaiser persona partially as a desperate attempt to become a “perfect person” like Osamu, Ken “imitated” Osamu’s cruelty to him because he felt that was how he could improve himself to become a “strong” person better than him. But the irony here is that Osamu’s “cruelty” was something that he himself never liked, and mainly came from lashing out at Ken due to feeling like he had a lack of control over his own life. So Osamu was never happy in that position, and Ken, who is indirectly pointed out via the bubble metaphor to be even more fundamentally inclined towards gentleness, is probably even more miserable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because everything Ken does as the Kaiser is “unfocused lashing out at everyone”, the Kaiser has less control over his emotions than Ken normally would. Takeru manages to emotionally pin him to a corner by confronting him with enough assertion in 02 episode 19 (this is before he punches him), and correctly points out that the Kaiser isn’t capable of winning with words (i.e. ideologically) and resorts to violence as the first thing he can think of. You’d think that if the Kaiser were actually someone with the self-confidence to consider the other Chosen Children beneath him, he wouldn’t even bother giving them the time of day, but Takeru just happening to be a little assertive is enough to make him lose his composure and start falling apart, and a lot of his shaken “insects!” yelling comes from him seeming pretty desperate to cling onto that rather than being all that confident about his natural superiority over anyone. 02 episode 20 establishes that he’s getting himself in over his head by tampering with the powers of darkness he can’t control, and while, on a plot level, it means that he’s misjudged his own capabilities, on a metaphorical level, it corresponds to the fact that even Ken himself is incapable of getting himself out of the emotional abyss he’s in.
Tumblr media
And on the flip side, one of the biggest “tells” that Ken is still miserable during all of this is 02 episode 9, where he’s seen ruminating on the “glory” he’s getting in the real world despite having just decided to leave it all behind. The episode prior, after all, had been called “The Digimon Kaiser’s Loneliness”. The media is using him like some kind of “hot topic”, his parents’ affection (in his mind) is shallow and based only on his achievements, and he has no friends (how much of a role Akiyama Ryou played in his childhood is unclear, but either way, he’s no longer around now). With no emotional support coming from any direction in the real world, he’s resorting to at least trying to have some “fun” in what he perceives to be a “game”, and yet he’s still not having fun at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you look carefully at a lot of the Kaiser’s actions during the first half of the series, one thing you’ll notice is that there are multiple indications that he’s not quite up to par to being as sadistic as you’d think he’d be. Recalling that we learn in 02 episodes 20-21 that the Kaiser is under the impression that the Digital World is like a game that he can “reset” and the Digimon in it not real living beings, it has interesting implications of the fact that he’s actually very hesitant to physically harm other human beings -- he certainly likes emotionally toying with them, but even when he’s trying to take petty revenge on Daisuke in 02 episode 8, he goes out of his way to set up a trap with Bakemon to torture him rather than, well, actually using the kids as hostages. That’s a hell of a lot of work to do, but he instead uses this extremely roundabout way to get them out of the picture in a somewhat less harmful way, risking having them escape (which is exactly what happens).
And in 02 episode 19, when Takeru confronts him and he ends up whipping him, you can hear a slight “...gh?” in the Japanese audio for a split second right after that, meaning that the Kaiser is, for some reason, having a hard time dealing with the fact that he just hit Takeru, and he does a very poor job defending himself against Takeru punching him out despite ostensibly being trained in judo. (Seriously, if you watch the animation of the scene, he’s just lying there while Takeru repeatedly punches the hell out of him, because he’s so out of it.) Regarding the Digimon, he’s convinced himself that they’re not living beings, but regarding the human Chosen Children, who undeniably are, no matter how much he might look down on them, he has a suspiciously hard time harming them as much as he could...
Tumblr media
On top of that, one interesting question that might come up to one rewatching the first half of 02 is the strange “contradiction” of why the Kaiser ostensibly seems to hate Wormmon so much, calling him an unworthy idea of a partner in 02 episodes 10 and 19, and yet does remarkably little to get Wormmon away from him or off his case (he hates Wormmon calling him “Ken-chan”, yet doesn’t really try very hard to stop him). He could have easily locked Wormmon away in a cage or something if he really wanted to -- actually, there’s the question, why doesn’t he slap an Evil Ring on him? Because in the end, Wormmon is the only emotional support he’s really getting, and so it’s likely he unconsciously doesn’t want to lose that. Recalling that Digimon are fundamentally linked to the inner self, the Kaiser rejecting Wormmon for being “weak” is analogous to Ken rejecting his own self for being “weak” and “not perfect” -- which means that the fact he still keeps Wormmon around is analogous to the fact that Ken hasn’t really been able to bring himself to completely let his fundamental nature go. And, hence, it’s why he gets so initially incensed at Wormmon’s “betrayal” at 02 episode 10 (and yet still keeps him around despite that), and is ultimately emotionally destroyed by his death in 02 episode 21.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although, actually, if you look carefully at 02 episode 21, it’s not quite Wormmon’s death that necessarily does it -- the turning point where he sheds the Kaiser persona is right before that (and in case you have any doubts, the animation puts highlights in his eyes for the first time in the series right at that point). Wormmon’s death is the first major consequence of his actions that he has to deal with, but what actually brought Ken back to his senses was his own realization that Digimon are living beings, that his actions have had permanent effects this whole time, and that he can’t take back anything he’d done.
Remember that 02 is a series that is largely about moving on and accepting that you can’t change the past, and that you have to move forward regardless of that. Ken’s fall into sadism was only possible by driving him into extremely deep-seated denial -- he was already starting to face the potential reality of Digimon being real, existing beings in the real world an episode prior. He says, outright, in 02 episode 21, that part of the reason he came to the Digital World to do all of this was escapism -- and, presumably, under the idea that any mistake he made could be rolled back and redone, unlike Osamu’s death. But the Digital World is not a place you can reset like a game, Ken will have to live with the consequences of his actions again, and moreover, every single one of the actions he’d been convincing himself were relatively meaningless had caused severe and permanent harm, and the entire thing overwhelms him.
It’s also important to point out that this was probably where the Dark Seed had to work a lot of magic to get Ken to embrace this kind of denial so easily -- after all, it’s established in the final quarter of the series that it does have a tangible impact on personality and puts a damper on one’s ability to feel empathy. In the flashback in 02 episode 23, regardless of whether Ken considered the Digital World to be a “game” or “able to be reversed” or not, he clearly still didn’t care and treated those around him with proper kindness (even if he did consider it to be all of that, it probably wouldn’t have been entirely unlike how a lot of us have a hard time picking rude choices in video games). It’s a very complicated chain reaction of events that allowed this to be even possible, and it was so against his fundamental nature that once the denial broke and Ken reached his limit, he wasn’t able to do it anymore. The Chosen Children’s main role in 02 episode 21 was really just cleaning up the massive mess he’d made in the form of Chimeramon, but as far as the whole thing about the Kaiser’s persona completely falling apart and Ken being forced to confront his own self goes, that was pretty much all Ken and Wormmon, in a series of dominoes that had already been collapsing for episodes on end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The following episodes have Ken treat the 02 team with a certain amount of detachment, and this is often construed by a handful of people as being reflective of Ken being standoffish of some sort. The fact that Daisuke and Ken are often promoted in franchise materials as “rivals” mainly due to them being in the “protagonist and right-hand-man” position such characters are in might tempt you to think that way, but they are most definitely not!! (Considering that even saying that Taichi and Yamato fit that mold is a bit questionable, and neither Ruki nor Jian quite fulfill the expectations of the role in regards to the genre-subverting Tamers, Frontier, which is explicitly said to be deliberately written to be conventional, is probably the first proper execution of this trope in the form of Takuya and Kouji.) Ken’s detachment from the group at this time in the series is something he actually gives the reason for quite directly: he believes it’s his fault and doesn’t want to burden them with what he considers to be his job, and in the end Daisuke ultimately breaks through to him and they become completely normal friends who get along. “Rival” what?
Ken is, at worst, distant during this point of the series, but he’s actually very straightforward about what he wants and intends to do; it’s just that he’s being a bit blunt about it because he’s still drowning in his shame and not sure how to approach them. (Also, consider the fact he was rather lacking in friends or a support group before all of this; he doesn’t have a lot of experience in socializing, either.) So he keeps everyone at arm’s length, and the reason he comes off as so standoffish is because he’s so assertive! He directly and bluntly makes some very strong remarks about how he believes everyone else shouldn’t be getting involved! Again, when left to his own devices and not being manipulated into by a supernatural evil seed into multiple levels of denial, Ken is very in control of what he wants and thinks, and is even very open about speaking his mind.
That’s even when they’re not good decisions, mind you. Ken starts off the climax of 02 episode 26 being very firm about wanting to suicidally throw himself into the reactor in order to stop it, and 02 episode 30 has him consider himself a burden to the team after the fallout with Iori and try to stay out of it despite them very badly needing his presence, which Daisuke (of all people!) rightfully calls him out for being childish about. But he also listens to reason very quickly and acknowledges the others’ point very easily, with Daisuke reminding him in 02 episode 26 that his suicidal recklessness is actually pretty self-centered and short-sighted of him, since it’ll prevent him from doing anything else to take responsibility for his actions going forward, and Miyako, uh, slapping him in 02 episode 30. (But he comes quietly right away as if acknowledging his own idiocy, and never holds it against her thereafter.)
Nevertheless, the point is: you can see that this kind of assertiveness is the same kind of assertiveness he had as the Kaiser, just channeled in a different direction and for a different purpose. But as the Kaiser, he was angrily lashing out at anything and everything and stepping on anything he could just so he could have a show of power; once he comes back to his senses, he reserves that force for it being something he consciously believes is the right thing to do (regardless of whether it’s actually the right thing to do or not).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of the fact Ken spends a lot of the last quarter of 02 suffering and parsing a lot of trauma, a lot of people have tended to pin him as constantly sad and being a soft crybaby, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Despite all the emotional pain he goes through, Ken has a hell of a ton of strength through all of this -- he even flings a well-aimed quip at Oikawa in 02 episode 44 despite being in a completely helpless situation, and in 02 episode 45 he himself is the one who volunteers to open the gate to the Dark Ocean, despite knowing exactly what it entails. That takes a lot of guts, and all things considered, his recovery from being the Kaiser spans only four months and is altogether incredibly fast given what he went through -- it did not take long for him to regain his bearings and get himself back on track. Again, it’s the same kind of “assertiveness” and capacity for action that fuels what the Kaiser did, just better controlled and in a direction Ken knows he actually wants.
This is also why I tend to object to insinuations that Ken would be overly touchy about or traumatized by the mere discussion of him being the Kaiser in the aftermath of 02, because the series itself, multiple times, portrayed him as being very able to talk about his experiences bluntly and honestly, at worst maybe considering it a bit of an awkward topic. He has no problems admitting that it was a thing that happened, especially if it involves discussing it as part of taking responsibility or preventing further damage -- it’s just that he of course doesn’t enjoy it either, and is equally as open about the shame he feels as a result. All of the times Ken loses his composure in the latter half of 02 involve either physical pain being inflicted on him, or a lot more actively vicious invocation of his memories and insecurities, and even then he gets himself back on his feet with a rather prompt amount of speed. Poorly timed of a statement as it may have been, Miyako is not incorrect when she says in 02 episode 31 that he has a certain amount of natural resilience that he carried from being the Kaiser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All the way back in 02 episode 9, shortly after it was revealed to the group that Ken was the Kaiser, Iori, Hikari, and Takeru all label Ken as someone who doesn’t look like someone who could do something so horrible, and Hikari even says that his smile looks “gentle” (note that this is yasashisou, a word derived from the same root word used for his Crest). So in other words, even all three of them were able to catch on to his actual nature betraying himself even during that awful period of time. It’s still poking through, all things considered.
But we as the audience know he’s putting on that face for the camera, and his eyes are still as dead-eyed as they are for the first half of the series, and when Miyako accidentally makes him laugh during the Christmas party in 02 episode 38, it’s very much framed as probably the first time Ken has been this genuinely happy in a long while. He was never able to be this happy even when “satisfying” himself by stepping on others as the Kaiser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s why it’s so extremely unlikely that Ken will ever be able to lapse back into the Kaiser persona after the events of 02, even with the Dark Seed technically still inside his neck. He wasn’t enjoying it anyway; the Kaiser persona wasn’t a habit that he fell into out of emotional suppression or even catharsis, but rather him forcing himself into a role he was never comfortable in to begin with. He was never truly satisfied with anything he was getting out of it, and moreover, it took the combination of supernatural influence and a hell of a lot of denial to allow it to get that far in the first place, because of how far against his fundamental nature that was.  (Again, for those of you who have seen Appmon: think about what it would take to get Haru to embrace sadism.) Even Osamu wasn’t enjoying being cold; being kind and living your life with positivity is a lot more fulfilling and fun, anyway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 02 episode 48, Ken describes the influence of the Seed as “horrible” in retrospect; even if it didn’t involve physical pain and exhaustion the way it did for the Dark Seed children, the entire experience sucked even back then. And while Ken theorizes about the Dark Seed’s influence being countered by the power of love earlier in the episode, when you look at the whole of 02, it’s not just his family’s love -- Ken now has the emotional support of his family, and Wormmon, and his newfound friends, and that’s giving him all of the fulfillment he wanted that putting on a front of sadism wasn’t giving him, and he doesn’t really need anything else anymore.
02 itself is very much about the fact that it’s not a bad thing to rely on the support of others to be happy; the Ken and Kaiser are undoubtedly the same person, but the latter’s existence requires a very specific lineup of events and factors to happen, and one of the massive parts behind that was a severe lack of emotional support or anyone who properly understood him. And by the end of the series, Ken has more than enough strength of heart to accept everything that’s happened and move on, and to stop reaching out to denial and clinging onto the past, and he has emotional support and understanding from a whole new group of friends that thoroughly understand everything he did and went through, and wholeheartedly accept and love him anyway.
He is never going to have a gaping hole in his life like that again.

Chapter 1
One second you were getting off the train stop nearest to your home, surrounded by normal looking people and the next you were standing in a busy station full of people with extra limbs or bright skin colours.
You felt your mind swim in confusion as you stayed still, feet frozen on the ground and eyes darting around the crowds. A familiar mop of green hair and freckles walked past and you quickly ran after.
“Um hello?” you called out, reaching out a hand and grasping his wrist.
“Hi?” he jumped, turning around and nearly tripping over his own feet.
“Sorry!” you said quickly, letting go of his wrist and stepping back. “I thought you looked familiar, maybe not.”
“Ah,” he nodded, pausing slightly before reaching out a hand for a handshake. “Well it’s nice to meet you, I’m Midoriya.”
Your eyes blinked repeatedly, “Like... Midoriya Izuku?”
“Yeah.” he smiled. “I’m guessing you know me from UA’s sports festival?” he rubbed the back of his neck bashfully. “I don’t think I’ve met you before.”
You hurriedly nodded, not wanting to create unwanted suspicion. It was strange to see what had once been a 2d drawing stand before you, and gosh was the human version of him so much cuter.
“I’ve got to go to school now, it was nice meeting you...”
“Y/N.” you smiled, bowing slightly before waving as he ran towards the train.
“Bye Y/N!”
Watching his figure disappear, you realised the reality you had suddenly been thrown into, a fustrated sigh leaving you mouth as you quickly ran towards the exit. Your eyes blurred with tears as the calls you made to people in your world  refused to go through.
You were stranded.
~~~
Sitting down at the table of a small cafe, you took a sip from your favourite drink as a snowstorm of questions running through your mind. The worldmaster? Alternate dimensions?
You had never once considered that the people in this world were actually alive and not just animated characters. And the worldmasters quirk had accidentally brought you, who was from your dimension, into theirs?
“So...? How do I leave?” you finally asked, deciding that even though you didn’t fully believe this guy, he was the only person knowing of the fact that you were not from here.
“Well it’s simple actually.”
“Really?” you piped up, a smile gracing your features for the first time since you had stepped foot here.
“Yeah.” the worldmaster, Haru nodded, “Since this is like a book to you, you just need to talk to your favourite character.”
“Favourite character?” you racked through your brain to see who was your favourite, your smile and hope instantly shattering as the image of a man with a plague doctor’s mask entered your brain.
“Yeah I don’t think that’s going to happen.” you sulked, burrowing your face into hands as the worldmaster looked at you puzzled.
“Why is that? UA doesn’t have the highest security and pro heros are always happy to talk to their fans.”
“That’s not it.” you groaned, shaking your head before taking another simp.
“Is it a civillain?”
You shook your head once again.
He sucked his teeth in before continuing. “A villain?”
You looked at him and nodded with a sigh.
“Well that’s not the biggest problem either. LOV is all over the kids these days.”
You srunched your nose at him. “Ew, don’t say it like that. And it’s not them either.”
“Are you seriously going to leave me hanging?”
You glared at him, before speaking quickly. “It’s the bloody yakuza.”
He looked at you, mouth open. “Your favourite character, in the whole of our world, is in the Shie Hassaikai.”
“Shut up.” you mumbled, hiding your face as you heard his cackles ring out through the entire shop, red spreading through your face as everyone’s attention turned to you two. “Shut up you’re so obnoxious.”
He eventually died down, before continuing. “Well, there’s no such thing as impossible, I’ll try my best to help you, after all I’m the reason your in this mess.” he sighed.
“You’d better.” you seethed, pouting from the embarrassment. “And how come you’re not helping the heros if you know everything about the past, present and future in this world?”
“I would end up like my ancestor.” he explained. “Our family, as the world masters must remain completely unbiased. In this world we are simply civilians who are socially neutral.”
“Gee, sounds kinda boring.” you snickered, placing the empty cup down on the table. “So where am I staying?”
“That’s a good question.”
“Please tell me you have an answer.”
“Well let’s get you closer to the world of heros and villains first.”
“Um, I don’t have a quirk.”
“No worries. I’ll take care of it.”
“Wait no I don’t want a quirk, Overhaul doesn’t like them.”
“I can’t just manifest you a quirk.” he stated, rolling his eyes. “I mean I’ll get you to stay with one of them.”
“What-”
~~~
You stood with your phone in hand, staring up at the dingy alleyway sign. “God I hate it here.” you muttered, wondering why the hell Haru had directed you to this musty highstreet bar. You knew you had to entually start earning money, as your mission at hand did not seem achievable in one day, but out of an entire city’s worth of jobs to apply for, the one he chose for you was... this?
You began to take a step forward before the door swung open suddenly, hitting you square in the face. Staggering a step back, your hands flew over your nose as blood slowly seeped out.
“Shit.” someone yelled. You heard a thump to the ground and watched as he threw the trash bag onto the floor before grabbing your hands. “Hold on let me see.”
“It’s fine.” you grumbled, shaking his grip off before stepping to the side of the door to let him through.
“Dabi.” someone screamed from inside the bar. “Hurry up and throw the trash away and get back in here.”
“Can’t you just wait a minute.” he shouted back. “Fuck um, I’ll be right back.”
He fumbled past, picking up the trash and running down the street as you walked inside, not bothering to wait for him.
“Hi.” you greeted, everyone to turn to you perplexed as you pinced your nose, your blood messibly wiped on your chin.
Shigaraki raised an eyebrow at you from behind his father’s hand as you stood there awkwardly.
“Wow not even a greeting in return? Rude much.” you grumbled, before clearing your throught to hopefully get rid of some of your nerves. “Um, are you hiring?”
“What?”
“Like, do you have any vacancies in your staff so that little old me could possibly occupy?”
“I know what hiring means.”
“Yeah well iI’m sure it didn’t hurt to explain it to you again.” you muttered.
“No, we are not hiring.” the purple mist behind the counter, whom you recognised to be Kurogiri, said. “Although miss are you alright there?”
“I don’t even know.” you rasped. “Why the fuck did Haru send me here if you guys aren’t even hiring?”
“Haru sent you here?” Shigarki perked up.
You nodded and he turned to look at Kurogiri, quietly exchanging words before looking back at you.
“You should’ve mentioned that to begin with. Alright you’re hired. ”
“Excuse me?”
“Little old you can occupy the vacancy in our staff.” he deadpanned.
You huffed out before grinning at him and throwing him a thumbs up. “Epic!”
You shuffled over to the counter, peering at Kurogiri eagerly. “So when do I start?”
“You can start by wiping the tables miss...”
“Y/N.”
“Right, miss Y/N.”
“Wipe your face before you start anything.” Shigaraki muttered, pointing over to a small door in the far corner of the room.
“Will do.”
Slipping into the bathroom, you pulled out your phone, him picking up a few rings in. “Haru I thought you said you weren’t biased, why the hell does the league act like they’re best friends with you.”
“I’m not biased if I’m friends with both sides?” he offers.
“Backstabber.” you quipped, washing your face.
“You know what? Enjoy your home because you’re staying with the league now.”
“You did not.” you screeched, grabbing your phone from the side as you watched him hang up. “You’re so petty you know that?” you muttered, glaring at your reflection in the mirror before exiting the bathroom.
“Right, who’s gonna show me my room?”

okay so ue has a cat. does this mean that it has a dog's name to keep in line with the joke from canon?
and yeah ue's token animal (don't say fursona don't say fursona) is a cat, so does that mean mafuyu mentally compares him to one in the beginning? he comes to the studio with ue for the first time like "I feel like I picked up a stray cat" and haruki is just like "I have no idea what that means"
pls imagine. the scene. where ritsuka falls asleep on mafuyu's shoulder. and mafuyu just kind of stares into the middle distance while internally screaming
AND the "oh, this is jealousy" moment in the stairwell. god. coming from mafuyu that hits so different.
also I just wanna say that we see ue is kind of oblivious to the fact that kasai likes him in canon, but because of how perceptive mafuyu is that definitely wouldn't be the case. he would be completely aware of it and kind of just be done with it, which is all the more reason he rebukes her when she talks shit about ritsuka because he knows exactly why she's doing it and how petty it is. he might say something like "did you think doing something like this would make me like you more?" (or is that too out there for him? lmao)
also I just remembered ugetsu calls akihiko aki in canon so he'd definitely call haruki haru and. that's an image. idk why but it is.
ue singing yoru ga akeru.... I am looking Directly At It. also the harugetsu breakup during that arc would HURT. because it would be haruki finally, actually putting his foot down for real and saying he's done with everything, and moving his stuff out of the basement to prove it. fuck man.
haruki + "I wanted to become someone worth of your love" HHHH.
ritsuka introducing mafuyu to shizu and hiiragi like "this is my boyfriend" and mafuyu silently losing his shit
HAHAHA Ritsuka would have a cat with a dog's name. I feel like that makes way more sense than Mafuyu nicknaming Kedama "Tama" like a cat. 😂 And oh, I can just imagine Haruki's deadpan "I have no idea what you're talking about" when Mafuyu introduces Ritsuka as a stray cat he feel like he picked up on the way. Ritsuka WOULD fall asleep with his head on Mafuyu's shoulder and I can kinda see Mafuyu's face like this:
Tumblr media
[internal screaming]
Oh god indeed, the "this is jealousy" realisation would hit very differently coming from Mafuyu 😩 Also ohhhhh the whole thing with Ayano would indeed be very different because like you said, Mafuyu would absolutely be able to tell that she likes him and that's why she tells him these rumours about Ritsuka. Ohhhh. YES. I don't know it might be a little out of character for Mafuyu to ask Ayano "are you doing this because you thought it'd make me like you [more]?" but who knows- I mean, given the right (or wrong) circumstances, I think he could drop a comment like that. Maybe. (Also, Ugetsu saying "Haru" just feels... really weird? I mean in this AU it would absolutely make sense given that Ugetsu uses a nickname for Akihiko too, but... I dunno. "Haru" is reserved for Aki in my mind. 😂)
Ohhhh yes, Ritsuka singing "Yoru ga akeru" and not to mention him singing it for Mafuyu first a cappella like in the OVA. 🥺
Can I just say that I think this version where Haruki is the one to break up with Ugetsu, to move out of the basement, fix his life, and then confess to Akihiko... is somehow more painful? Like obviously in a very different way but I'm just thinking of how him breaking up with Ugetsu would go, and how Akihiko would react to the confession. Help.
And here I would probably insert that same screenshot again of Mafuyu silently screeching where Ritsuka would be the one to introduce him to Shizu and Hiiragi as "my boyfriend". Oh wow. YES.

ATLA Q&A
Thanks for the tag @old-and-new-friends!! I made another post since I already started live-blogging S&B and if I’m doing it wrong I’ll get hatecrimed for forcing my followers to scroll down a bunch.
Speaking of which, just in case, a friendly disclaimer in meme format:
Tumblr media
Back to the ATLA questions!
General questions:
1. What’s your favorite character?
When it isn’t the Worst Man, it’s the Best Girl 🥰 I alternate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. What’s your comfort character?
Zhao, actually. I too would like to punch and smash things and make stupid mistakes because quarantine leaves a pent-up beast of emotions inside you, and perfectionism doesn’t help. Sometimes you just want to commit some light arson. (Maybe don’t. Talk to someone, or run a mile 😆)
3. Which element would you bend if you could choose?
Water. It pretty. And versatile!
4. What’s your favorite nation?
Fire Nation!! Damn the fashion is CHIC, and I love me some rich history detailing the perversion of cultural values and how it shapes its citizens, especially in wartime. And a city of hotmen built right on top of a dormant volcano?? Great idea.
5. What makes you love ATLA the most?
Never dumbs things down. Its best characters are raked through the mud to get to where they are, nothing falls into their lap, and every name has a story behind it. A fair attempt at Asian rep aside, like old-and-new-friends said, the world is one you could spend a lifetime exploring. Also... Azula and Zhao hot.
Could get you attacked questions:
To be fair, most of my answers are going to get me attacked.
1. What’s your least favorite character from the Gaang?
Tumblr media
Inconceivable. I’ll only say Sokka for petty reasons, like, his voice is a bit too cracky at times. Next.
2. What character do you think is severely underrated?
Kei Lo from the comics? Poke all the fun you want at his Zac Efron hair, he had a good arc and good heart. It felt like he was brushed under the rug so the plot could revolve around Maiko (a great team, but still...) I had the urge to scribble down the rest of his story after the breakup, esp a possible comeback with more grey morals.
3. What’s your least favorite nation?
Guess I should say Fire Nation for being so Rude(tm), though that’s mostly on Sozin. Toz, too, at one point.
4. What’s your controversial ATLA opinion?
Oof! They’re only controversial because they aren’t allowed to exist in peace. Let’s go with something mild and generally agreed upon ~ there should have been more brown characters/distinct homage to South-Asian culture?
Shipping questions:
1. What’s your favorite ship and why?
I’m a fan of Zhaozai. They deserve each other in every sense, ironically and unironically. 😌 Why not write a 20k tango between the evil monarch and bastard admiral while diving into the messier nuances of choosing your nation over yourself, and losing the distinction between right and wrong, fear and willingness, love and torture? Look! They even have the same laugh 🌈🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. What’s your least favorite ship and why?
Whichever one Katara, Haru, his dad, and all the earthbenders were held on. Not cool.
I really have nothing against any ship. The right effort put in can make a lot of them work!
3. Do you sometimes self-insert?
Isn’t that the purpose of OCs? 😆 A part of ourselves goes into everything we create, so... maybe a smidge? Most of my characters are braver, stronger, and smarter than I am, for sure.
4. What’s your crack ship?
At the moment, Lu Ten and Zhao! It’s like injecting pure seratonin into your veins. They give me big Rachel and Chloe vibes from Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Never let it be said I’m not weak for love between soldiers. Going to hell and back is actually something that can be so personal...
5. What non-canon ship would you make happen if you were the creator?
I could see Longshot and Smellerbee genuinely happening. That would be cute to see! The tiniest hint at LuZhao would also be so heartwarming.
No pressure tags: @thebluesunflower44 @kuchenwithjnk @moonsugar-and-spice @crookedmouth-mountainbones @guiltyportfolio @fire-lady-ilah @klm-zoflorr @flamehotman and anyone who sees this and is interested!

fruits basket manga lb (chs 131 - 133)
CH 131
We’re learning about the origins of the curse now. Oh boy.
The cat went to God first ;A;
omg the cat died first....
God saved it!
Oh, the cat didn’t want to have eternal life... and the others and God took that as rejection.... seriously? So petty, honestly. I love learning about how it happened but I’m just like... wtf. It’s like all of this generational trauma could’ve all been avoided if God and the animals hadn’t misinterpreted shit LOl
YUKI’S CRYING ;A;
I totally understand Yuki’s feelings here. It must be hard. You’re free, but you’re also letting go of something that was a part of you for so long, something that helped shaped who you are, no matter how negative a situation.
AH AJSFJSJF HE CAN HUG HER NOW OH MY GOD I TOTALLY FORGOT IM SOBBING
MACHI IS SO CUTE
She’s calling him by his first name KSFJSJFJSF
AHHH THEY KISSED! ENDGAME YUCHI! <3
“When did that promise turn into a curse?” What I’ve been asking since since the very beginning rofl
AKDGDKG KYO’S SHOWING KAZUMA HIS BARE ARM IM ;A;
KAZUMA IS SO HAPPY SJJDG
Haru and Rin!! <3
omg look at Tohru pulling on Kyo’s shirt how cute
is Tohru gonna see Akito? <3
SHE’S HUGGING HER! I LOVE THIS! I love that Akito can see that even after the curse has been lifted, Tohru wasn’t lying about being there for her, about being her friend. Akito needed this, honestly. I’m very happy with the resolution of their rivalry. I’m happy with how the curse broke.
“The Cat’s wish... wasn’t granted... until much, much later.” IM CRYINGGG
CH 132
Starting the last volume... this is so depressing, I don’t want this story to be over.
Akigure time, lol.
Oh is this the final banquet?
IT’S SO NICE TO SEE RITSU AGAIN!! <333
“Things might be a bit tense.” Oh, I’m sure. I don’t think it’s all going to be sunshine and daisies. Akito may be behaving a hell of a lot better and changed her ways, but there’s still a lot of pain here, pain that she directly caused. I’m interested to see how this is going to go.
LOL @ momiji calling Kyo a cheater we love to see familial teasing!
I love that they’re not all awkward around each other. It just goes to show that a lot of their genuine personalities poked through even among the curse. They all do have a bond, curse or no curse. And it’s very nice to see Kyo being actually included in that bond.
lool fucking Ayame, man. I love him.
Aww is Yuki kinda sorta looking out for Kyo around Ayame? I love this.
HAHA
“Akito’s ready to see you.” sfjsjfsj
OH WOW.
Look at her? She looks so pretty?
RITSU LMFAO
Oh, Shigure got her that kimono.
Yeaaah, this is what I’m worried about with Akigure as a ship. Akito’s better, but she still has a tendency to fly off the handle if she thinks she’s being slighted, and it makes me worried about how they would handle dispites and arguments without getting physical like that, you know? I’d hope that she’d do it less and less as time goes on.
“All of you are free. And this may come too late, but for everything... I’m...” Oh my god. Is she trying to apologize?
She can’t, though. It won’t come out. I bet she probably feels like sorry isn’t enough, in some ways. How do you apologize for a lifetime of suffering that you’ve caused, the trauma inflicted on other people?
I guess Akigure are official, lol. I mean, I’m glad that Akito’s getting a somewhat happy ending. Shigure, I still don’t like him but he’s a fantastic character.
Akito’s gonna stay at the estate and be the head without keeping anyone shackled to her. That’s as good of an ending as I could’ve anticipated for her. I’ll be honest: I still feel like she got off a little easy. She should’ve faced some legal consequences, at least. But I don’t dislike her like I used to. She’s definitely come around and I’ve partially forgiven her.
I’ll talk more about my feelings about Akito and everything once I’ve finished, but that’s where I am right now.
CH 133
AHHH KYORU. THEY’RE OFFICIAL!
loool who is Mayu talking about?
OH Yuki and the others know about Akito being a female now? Nice!
“I can’t believe I was so violent... to a girl.” KYO. MY BOY. Omg what a sweetheart? Honey, she was violent to you, too.
“The last thing I wanted was another guy interested in you.” LMFAOOOO
YUKI’S DYING
“The mood between the two of them has become somewhat gentler than before.” Somewhat? Girl, they’re friends now, and I’m loving it. It’s so cute.
“He beat the crap outta me.” YES LOL
“Kyo-kun smiles more than he used to. I’ve come to realize that this is his true self.” ;A;
oh my gosh THEY’RE SO CUTE.
How are they even cuter now that they’re dating?!
“Walking together, hand in hand, isn’t something that I’ll ever take for granted.” I’m cryinggggg. ;a; My babies.
NOT TALK OF A KYORU BABY MY HEART CAN ONLY HANDLE SO MUCH.
AND GRANDPA KAZUMA!! HE’D DOTE ON THAT KID!
What’s wrong with my bby girl Isuzu? :(
“Not everyone... is in the same situation.” Ah, yeah...
“How can you act like nothing ever happened? She did all kinds of nasty stuff to Kyo. And she hurt you a lot too. Those wounds will never disappear, will they?” I 1000% understand Rin here. I was waiting for this to be brought up!
Oh, Isuzu, my poor girl.
This might change later on, but as of right now, I don’t fully forgive Akito, either. There’s just too much that she did to too many people. Like Rin, like Yuki, like Kyo. Even Hatori. I’m generally a forgiving person, but I have a hard time with abusive characters. Maybe it’s from my own past, being a survivor of abuse. Being around it and knowing how they are just impacts you differently, I guess. I don’t know if it’s right to say that maybe people who haven’t experienced abuse are able to forgive easier.
I haven’t forgiven my abuser, and I never will. Do I still understand why they did it, why they are who they are, and do I still empathize? YES. I feel a lot for people. I feel a lot for Akito on a positive note, and I’m so proud of her progression. She’s a hurt woman who deserved better and who hurt people because she was in so much pain herself. She hasn’t been able to break free of her abuser or heal yet. She needs a safe space to do that, and she’s beginning to learn to be better and be a sweeter person. Tohru showed her that.
But like Rin, I can’t fully forgive her. If Tohru hadn’t done what she did, hadn’t reached out to Akito, Akito never would’ve changed. She would’ve continued to be horrible and not feel regret for the things she’s done. I appreciate that she was trying to apologize, though. And there are things that I’ve forgiven her for. It’s the worst indiscretions that I can’t. How she treated Rin and Yuki, specifically. I know that she was projecting with Rin. But Rin was a child and an abuse victim herself. Out of all of them, Akito could’ve related to her. Akito knew. She used that instead to hurt Rin, and that is the one thing that I’ll never be okay with.
“They’ll need time. A whole lot.” Yes. And even then, it may not be enough. Some scars run so fucking deep that even time doesn’t help. I’ve healed from my trauma. It doesn’t impact me anymore. I’ve learned how to cope and move on and now utilize those skills to help others. I think time will help, though, and it may allow others to forgive Akito later.
Distance is the key here, I think. If they’re not around her, maybe forgiveness will come easier.
Wow, Akito taking what she learned from Tohru and reaching out to the maid? We love to see it.
