She's also partially nonverbal and had trouble picking up words (why she couldn't speak very well compared to 001 & 008 (there isn't a canon reason why that I might've missed right? please enlighten me if so)) it is also why hopper did the whole 'word of the day' thing to help her learn them. As someone who is autistic, watching this scene where he sees the very things that make him who he is as a detriment/threat to others was absolutely heart-wrenching.

I've had moments like this where I've questioned if the qualities that make up my identity are helpful to others including myself, which made it that much more inspiring when he found it in himself to overcome those doubts and embrace who he is.

Man, I love this show so much.

As an autistic adult parenting an autistic toddler, I'm glad I'm able to use my experiences to help my little girl, and start teaching her the lessons about dealing with it that I didn't learn until I found out as an adult that I was autistic.

Like, this morning she started screaming literally within seconds of waking up because @thesurestthing was in the bathroom instead of giving her morning milk (her usual routine--the hardest thing is starting the day with a break in routine).

Then she was screaming and kicking me in the face because she didn't want to wear a diaper, then she wanted her old pee-filled diaper back on, then she wanted NO diaper again. Then when Zoey returned to nurse her, "MOMMY GO AWAY!" (Because the routine was already broken, and things would not be Perfect no matter what at this point.)

Then (and this was the majority of the meltdown) she started screaming because "I want to feel daddy! I need to feel you!" I offered my hands, my arm, my beard, and my head, to no avail. All this while I'm being intermittently kicked in the face and trying to keep her from hurting herself or me. She tried several times to do her deep breaths, yelling, "I WANT A NEW FEELING!" But she COULD NOT calm down.

THE SOLUTION: It took approximately a century (or so it felt like) to figure out she wanted me to put my hand in the high-five position so she could put her palm against mine--at which point she took a couple of deep breaths and immediately started calming down.

If we can keep her chill for the next few hours--long enough for her body to get over the meltdown--she'll most likely be fine for the rest of the day. I'm just glad that I have similar neurodivergent patterns to hers, and that since I've begun to figure out how to handle mine, I can help her learn to handle hers so that hopefully she'll have an easier life than I have.

Update: headed off a couple more meltdowns by offering my hand again, and praising her when she did her deep breaths and got herself under control. She's so cool, and she works so hard at learning self-regulation. Then she just sat with me stimming for a bit, and we read a book together.

Right now she's being a total cuddlebug with me. I love her so much, and I wouldn't change a single thing about her if I could.

I just hope that by helping her learn about dealing with her autism early I can help her have an easier life than I've had. Not by pretending to be allistic, but by taking her autism into account and doing what she needs to regulate her feelings.

She is so perfect in every way, and I love her. Yes, there are challenges, but if I could wave my hand and make her allistic, I wouldn't do it, because that would fundamentally change who she is. She's autistic, like me. And she's perfect.

After re-watching the new Blue Exorcist anime episode (ep.4) I can't stop thinking about how this arc should have been adapted soo many years sooner. it came out 10 years ago. And THIS is the true quality writing this series is known for and what truly pushes fans into really getting into it. Yes, this series is a slow burn/in-for-the-long-haul and the waiting always pays off tremendously, but I still believe it should not have taken THIS long for it to be adapted into an anime.

And it just sucks. It sucks even more that even the biggest anime-only fan's sole interaction with this series was nothing more than the mere introductory premise and never got to the true plot of this series for over than a decade since the first season. I can't help but pity them, at least in the manga it took around 5(?) years for this arc to start, it should not have taken any longer than that after the kyoto saga adaptation imo.

This series has soo much to say with so many stories left unexplored in the anime and yet the wider anime community still calls it "mid" based off the shitty non-canon season 1 ending that unfortunately left everyone with false impressions of this series. It says A LOT how the majority of people who have read the manga agrees it's phenomenal, miles better than the anime.

And it just frustrates me because Blue Exorcist could have still kept up the huge audience and the reputation & recognition it deserves for it's level of quality writing, especially for shonen. Instead of bearing the fate of its audience whittling away over the years due to the anime's mistreatment and the only fans remaining are the loyal manga fans. This series deserved better treatment years ago, but late is better than never.

kon constantly borrows tim’s shirts when he goes out as conner kent since he doesn’t have a shirt without an ‘S’ on it but it’s quite tight on him and it shows his abs. tim gladly lets kon borrow his shirts.

kon memorised tim’s heartbeats, footsteps, breathing and voice.

when they’re taking a break or they have a slow patrol night tim would cuddle under kon and they would watch about tim’s special interests.

when bart, tim and kon first created the yj, tim mentioned that kon would be the mom if they were bart’s parents and kon haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since.

when dick found out that his baby brother had a boyfriend, he pulled kon away and threatened him to not ever hurt tim.

needless to say, kon started climbing through the windows of the wayne manor instead of using the door.

whenever tim’s having a meltdown, kon immediately comes to comfort because of his superboyfriend senses™ (superhearing) and makes terrible hot chocolate in an attempt to give tim a sense of comfort.

tim settled for coffee.

tim has dimples and he doesn’t like them, hates them in fact. so kon makes sure to compliment them every time tim smiles.

if the core four were a family: tim would be the protective, scared to death dad, kon would be the cool, somewhat irresponsible dad, bart would be the child that gives tim four heart attacks a day and cassie would be the cool but responsible (unlike kon) aunt.

kon doesn’t like it when tim falls asleep in the middle of a meeting or patrol bc that means he hasn’t been sleeping. tim told kon to wake him up if he falls asleep.

of course, kon being kon, he bring tim to the wayne manor every time he falls asleep. and brings him back to his original place before tim wakes up.

until one night when kon was bring tim to his room and dick caught them entering and he thought kon drugged his baby brother or something.

long story short, kon got hit in the face and tim realised that kon was letting him sleep.

the first time tim confessed didn’t go as planned.

kon was carrying him to a villains hideout along with the young justice and their faces were so close that tim couldn’t help but slip up.

“superboy, after landing we can go into your.. ey…” “my eyes?”

tim was lucky that kon was as oblivious as a koala.

tim stims a lot, more than he wants sometimes.

he cracks his knuckles as a stim most of the time.

tim takes kon’s superboy shirts and use them as pjs all the time even before they started dating. (this is canon i think)

according to him its bc he thought it was some knockoff shirt he bought.

Do you think one of the reasons Mike was so upset about Max at first was because he was usually the one that made the friends for the group? Like, he’s the one who reaches out and brings people in, and suddenly Lucas and Dustin are doing it without even consulting him, and for a kid who’s supposed to be the “leader,” that’s about the most earth-shattering blow there is. He didn’t get the chance to even know her well before she was suddenly around all the time and no no that’s not right, that’s not how it works, they’re not even considering how he’d feel about it??
