Note
"Want to hang out, hunt or seduce sass you into submission like old times?"
- hand written note pushed under Armands door in an envelope sealed with a fancy 'DM' stamped purple wax seal, figuring he'd gain extra points with the formality detailing.

I was rewatching episode 5 and the way Mimzy was interacting with Husker made me think. There wasn't a lot to go on besides Husker distrusting Mimzy and Mimzy clearly knowing that Husker is on Alastor's leash and has been 'slinging booze' for the Radio Demon for quite some time (maybe Al has had Husker as a spy in various bars to keep on top of Hell's gossip and information? Everyone wants to talk to the bartender, after all). But she did seem to take some joy in ordering Husk around.
I know we've all been coming up with theories as to why Alastor would bother to spare Husk when he came to Hell and wiped the board clean of Overlords (minus Zestial who Alastor seems somewhat wary of). Maybe he didn't want to go throught the bother of reshuffling the power structure again by killing off a recently risen Overlord or maybe he saw an opportunity for a powerful thrall.
Or maybe Mimzy, the woman who stole 50 grand from loan sharks presumably to pay off more imminent debts, got herself stuck in a contract with the Overlord of Gambling and Alastor had to go bail her ass out by playing for her soul in a poker game.
A game that went so well for Alastor that he ended up completely cleaning Husker out and then having the fallen Overlord sign his soul over as well.
I just really love the idea that Husk hates it when Alastor helps Mimzy because the last time he helped her his entire life went to shit.

I was gonna write a whole thing, but I'm going to keep it simple.
ASIAS doesn't work as a showcase of Hunter's selflessness like Hunting Palismen does, because Darius has no authority over Hunter like Belos does.
The show is trying to gaslight me into thinking Hunter gives a damn about his subjects opinion of him and would just stand still so they can hurt him. Even though he outranks everyone besides Belos, is a "magical prodigy", and child soldier. It's also trying to gaslight me into thinking Hunter can't disobey Darius' orders even though he is like, literally the prince of The Boiling Isles. He outranks Darius, so he doesn't have to listen to him, like at all lmao.
Hunting Palismen is a better demonstration of Hunter's selflessness, because he is actually going against the one person who has power over him. He returned to the castle emptyhanded knowing Belos was most likely going to dish out physical punishment. Sparing Flapjack and letting Luz leave with the palismen didn't benefit him in the slightest.
He could have even handed over Flapjack to Belos at the end of HP or the beginning of EL. Luz wouldn't have been none the wiser and he would stave off whatever punishment Belos had in store for him. Unbeknownst to Hunter, handing over Flapjack would have put Belos in a much better mood, since he associates Flapjack with both Caleb and Evelyn. But he doesn't do that - instead he chooses to keep the palismen Luz introduced him to him - and this palisman just so happens to be associated with Caleb and Evelyn.
So, Hunter taking a stand against Darius to protect Willow and Gus isn't an act of selflessness, simply because Darius does not hold any power over Hunter. Hunter doesn't have the potential to lose anything by disobeying Darius like he does with Belos.

hey if u guys r sad about ofmd and want another show with gay people to watch you should consider watching Deadloch. It’s really good it’s really really good uh it might get a second season if the creators decide to do that.
if you watch good omens you’ll be able to watch Deadloch they’re on the same service. Uhhhh One of the actors from ofmd is there shes one half of the main duo (the other half is played by Kate Box who’s an amazing actor and Dulcie is now one of my fav characters ever) gets to wear an open Hawaiian shirt for like 3 of the 8 episodes which is a bonus. It’s extremely gay and it’s fun and beautifully written and no queer characters die and it’s satisfying and funny and Please watch it I’m begging you please watch itPLEASE

I have a trash memory so i love making little notes of things i don’t want to forget and it’s just like god i can’t wait to fall in love i want to fill pages with little notes on your interests on the little things that might bother you i want to go home and open up a notebook to see tangible pages filled with random scribbles that all add up to remind me that i get to LOVE someone

genuinely so sorry to slide into your dm's like this, not sure that this is proper tumblr etiquette, etc., but i just got so excited when i read in your sayu-gets-the-death-note ask that you've been trying to talk yourself out of doing an entire statutory interpretation of the manga death note rules because i've been trying to talk myself out doing an entire metaphysical interpretation of the manga death note rules, so... if you, like me, simply cannot talk yourself out of a stupid idea once it sinks its claws in your brain and would at some point like to share notes about I THINK one of the sexiest and most broken parts of this series, i'd be delighted.
oh my god dont apologise im just excited a single person on earth besides me is interested in a pseudo-legal (very pseudo) perspective on the death note rules. high fives you. for the most part im just incredibly impressed that they manage to retain so much internal consistency especially since so many of them have the vibe of, like, random amendments which were included just for funsies. it's incredible they don't overtly contradict each other. ive been obsessed with them since i first saw them and have already spent way too much time reading over them but yeah i'd honestly love to dig into them more. HTR13 does organise them into something closer to Parts or Divisions which makes the structure a little more coherent. it drives me nuts that sometimes a numbered rule will have sub-provisions that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. drafting that gives me a stress migraine

DIMILETH! DIMILETH!! DIMILETH!!!!!!! *claps enthusiastically*
YEAH DIMILETH! I'M GONNA RAMBLE ABOUT IT!
There's a serious dearth of good Dimileth content, I think. A pretty high % is E and those kind of feel like dressed up xreader fics in generic aus, tbh. Considering how Byleth's entire character arc is about her growing out of being your self-insert and actualizing as a full person, I can't really get behind them. I think uh there's a truly excessive number of ways to write them badly, out of character, or both.
I've talked SEVERAL times about how I dislike those mommy gf/bf dynamics, especially in H/C. There's always a whumpee to project on, who normally has anxiety or depression and has panic attacks, and a perfect partner who provides therapy and hugs and the comfort. In real life it would be remarkably unhealthy. People are usually better about this in M/F dynamics, but it's unhealthy straight or gay. Where Dimileth comes in is: a) it is extremely easy to fall into this trap, because of how people relate to Dimitri and Byleth and Dimitri's canon relationship, and b) it is uniquely bad, because it is very similar to their teacher/student dynamic. And you want them to grow out of that. You do. For obvious reasons.
What I love about Byleth is that she is kind and nurturing, despite everything. She's so empathic, understanding, supportive, and kind towards Dimitri. I love the story of an emotionless person choosing kindness - somebody who made the conscious decision to turn away from a live of endless violence and death and choose family and love. I don't want to erase that just bc it's surface level mommy gf.
For me, what I decided on is to just flip those tables. You have to completely reconfigure that dynamic into one between two adults and equals. And I think it eventually ended up as - Byleth provided unconditional support, love, and caring to these kids, and now that she's Achieved Sadness it's her turn to receive that. You have to love to have love returned. During their little roleplay scene, Byleth experiences a wonderful feeling of safety and understanding and care. She provided that for Dimitri, and Dimitri provided that for her. She had to be the adult for a long time, on many levels she is still being expected to be the adult, but now that she's speedrunning emotional puberty she has somebody to help her through that (Narratively, it's a good balance for Dimitri himself too - as somebody who received care for a while, I do want to show that he's still an adult who's capable of providing that to others).
Whew. Normally romantic ships are uhhh not the point in anything I write, but in this fic the Dimileth encapsulates the point. Obviously in Phase 1 there was a lot of set-up for it, and equally obviously Byleth did not even passingly think of him romantically or sexually (like would she have even be capable???), but in a story about teenagers becoming adults and a girl finding humanity I think a sweet way to capture that is the insanity of somebody's first teenage love. Thanks for reading!
