Author's note: This was a request from a lovely reader on Wattpad. I really enjoyed this cafe <3 Thank you for my lovely @ladycheesington for proofreading it <3

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Autumn finally sneaked in and kicked Summer out. This part of the year was your thing. You were excited to bring all the decorations up from the basement. After all, it was going to be Halloween soon. (It wasn’t but you were too excited to wait any longer.)
This Sunday evening seemed to be perfect for a little organization in your lovely home. Because even if you lived alone it didn’t mean you were sad or lonely. With a smile on your face you precisely placed all the spooky figures at their usual spots.
“It looks nice, doesn’t it?” you giggled as you asked your kitty cat, Sir Sunflower. The little black furball purred and rubbed his head against your ankle, so you took it as a yes.
Even if Monday morning arrived sooner than you expected, you felt happy. The second your feet touched the wooden floor in your bedroom you remembered that it is THAT day. The day when you change the menu in the cafe and replace all the Summer offers with Autumn ones. The light morning breeze danced on your skin as you were walking down the street to your workplace.
Humming a cute song you started to clean the tables and the counter, thinking about how perfect that morning was. So far.
The tiny bell above the entrance sang its song, warning you of the arrival of the first customer of this beautiful day. It seemed your customers were just as excited about this day as you were.
People kept arriving, ordering different kinds of Autumn themed drinks and sweets. Soon enough almost all the tiny tables and cozy couches were taken. Chit-chatting echoed through the place as people kept being excited.
You were almost at the end of your shift when the tiny bell rang once again and a crystal white haired man with a pair of sunglasses walked in lazily. The second he flashed his mesmerizing blue eyes you froze in your action. You had no idea when, if ever, you'd seen such beautiful eyes for the last time.
“Good evening, sir. What can I get for you?” you greeted him with a lovely tone.
“Good evening, beautiful.” he smiled. “I would like a pumpkin latte, please.”
“Sure. Anything else?”
“Your phone number.” he flashed a smirk.
Your eyes widened and a tint of light pink rushed upon your cheeks. Okay, it would have been a lie to tell that no one ever tried to flirt with you but this felt somehow different. It felt different, because you found him extremely attractive. Even if you screamed inside you acted out cool and simply pretended you didn’t hear anything. As you spun on your heels and started to prepare his order, Gojo lifted his weight from one of his legs to another.
A strange feeling caught your attention, as if someone was staring at you. And oh, you were right. He couldn’t resist fixating his angelic eyes on your back and followed your whole presence, checked your beautiful silky hair and even smiled at the cute hair clip you wore. It was a tiny brown-orange owl that perfectly fit the whole Autumn environment. He also let his eyes fall on your curves, your perfect waist and wonderful hips. Your uniform suited you well enough, giving a perfect sight of your round bum. The man took a desperate breath. His intentions weren’t only sexual, he felt as he walked in and spotted you that he had to make you his girl, no matter what.
This feeling terrified him just as much as it made him excited. Gojo Satoru wasn’t a dating type of guy. He rather focused on his job, on his duty. Saving people from curses wasn’t the easiest work to do after all.
The lively sound of the coffee machine made you zone out. You were hesitating. It was a dilemma you never really felt before. Should you? Shouldn’t you? Is it against the policy at all? You had no idea. The hot liquid pouring into the cup and the light beeping sound snapped you back to reality. Before you could have changed your mind you grabbed the black marker and hurryingly wrote your number on the paper cup.
“Thank you.” he smiled at you. He was about to leave a cheeky comment when your coworker stepped next to you behind the counter.
“I got this, Y/N.” they put their hand on your shoulder. “Your shift is over, go enjoy your afternoon.”
Gojo thanked you for the lovely service once again, before he walked to the door and let a gush of wind caress his face as he stepped outside. “Y/N…” he hummed. “Such a beautiful name.”
He got back to the facility and aimed for his room. The coffee was gone a long ago but he carefully placed the cup onto his desk until he saved your number.
Before getting home you stopped at the grocery store. A half full cart you pushed around as you kept picking the items you needed. Actually you just tried to distract your mind from the fact you gave your number to a stranger and for some inexplicable reason you wanted him to reach out. Finally you left the store with four or five huge bags which were heavier than you expected. A loud huff left your mouth when you finally got home. Being busy with packing out from the bags you didn’t hear the buzzing noise of your phone. It was buried deep in your bag.
“C’mon. At least read my messages, sweetheart.” Gojo frowned, tapping his fingers eagerly on his desk. It wasn’t like him at all. The sorcerer was always confident, no doubt ever was able to sneak into his mind until today. You were different. You were unique. You were special.
A loud gasp rolled from your throat when you realized the amount of new messages. Of course you knew exactly who the other side of the unknown number was but you wanted to tease him just a little bit.
“Hey. Who’s this?” you sent the text, giggling.
“Oh, so I wasn’t the only one who got your number today?” your phone buzzed almost immediately.
“Pumpkin guy? Is it you?” you kept teasing.
“My name is Gojo Satoru.”
You clicked your tongue before reacting. “I like Pumpkin guy better.” You even added an emoji with its tongue out. You found yourself chuckling and kicking your feet like you were a teenage girl once again. This feeling was decent, made you happy and free. It was easy to get addicted to this euphoria.
As the night went on you both kept texting each other, chatting and flirting until you fell asleep.
In the morning you woke up before your alarm went off. It was strange but as soon as your eyes shot open you felt excited and grabbed your phone, smiling immediately when you saw the unread messages from Satoru. He kept texting you way after you fell asleep, and wishing you a good night in the end.
You bit your lower lip before you sent the message “Good morning, handsome.” The three little dots appeared almost in an instant which made you feel nervous. But it was the sweet kind of nervousness, the one when you are so excited you can’t really handle it.
“So, I’m not the Pumpkin guy, anymore? Will you call me my real name as well?”
“Well, you have to earn it.” you smiled as the game of texting started once again.
Mickey and Minnie: Firebird
Description: A short mice drabble based on a concept @thebigpalooka and I had discussed. She was largely responsible for the second set of dialogue after their meeting...and it broke my heart in the best way, so of course I had to use it here.
Setting is a Firebird sort of situation, inspired by both the ballet and the Fantasia segment, and whatever else we wanted to throw in. Minnie is the Firebird--the protector of the forest--and Mickey is a heroic prince who saved her once upon a time. This bit here occurs near the end of the story we'd set up <3
AO3
~~~~
He saw her in every precious gleam of nature. In the fiery sunsets of summer, the colors of autumn, the chill of winter, the rosebuds of spring. Her touch, her breath of beauty and passion lay upon it all. A kiss, gentle and sweet. Sometimes, he liked to imagine it was for him–when the wind would tousle his fur and leave him laughing, clinging to his cloak, or a star would streak across the sky and leave a trail so bright he was sure it was her weaving pathways he might one day be able to follow.
It didn’t dull the ache, though, when such signs departed from view and he was left to return to his chambers alone. He left the window open each night, so that dreams of her might be carried along with the breeze. And he did dream of her, almost every time he closed his eyes. Sometimes those dreams were warm and loving, and she’d be there before him again, as radiant as ever, smiling and holding out her arms so he might sweep her away. Other nights he’d watch her as she left him, as he had all that time ago–when the color had returned to her body and the light to her eyes, blossoming as though she herself had been a flower all along. Mickey had carried her then, as she’d asked him to, and he had never been able to forget the breath she’d taken after those first few steps, when she’d seen the place where her tears had fallen. Where life was beginning to return to the scorched earth.
Some days he regretted not having said a word. But he’d seen her whole spirit return to her then, and when she’d lifted her hands to the sky she had been filled with such vigor and strength, he knew he could never have held her back. Not even to say goodbye.
He turned his hand over, recalling the feeling as she’d leapt from his fingertips with a step lighter than any bird could have managed. She had seemed an angel then, and that was his last memory of her. Of a girl like a faerie, rising into the clouds, showering all the earth with life and color.
There had been a part of him…well, far more than a part of him...that had hoped she might have returned. That they might have… Ah, it was pointless to dream of those things. She was an ethereal being. She was the essence of hope and nature and rebirth itself, a creature of magic with a wild and fiery spirit that was never meant to be tamed.
And…Mickey loved her. He always would, and he knew he’d never be able to claim otherwise, not now. Not having seen her smile, or felt her touch, or seen the kindness and fear in her eyes. Though he hoped the fear was gone now, as it had been when she left him. That was all he could ever wish for, that wherever she was, she was free, and she was happy.
But he never did stop looking, with those cheerful eyes of his that seemed always touched with sadness. He was looking now, as he brought that hand to his lips and drew in a shaky breath, leaning out over the balcony. His crown and robes had long since been abandoned, tossed haphazardly on the bed with the setting of the sun. He’d put them away later, but for now he wanted to watch. It was a special night, after all, with the light of the full moon already clipped by shadow. Just like it had been on the night he’d first seen her, so very long ago.
He stretched out his arms, letting out a little squeak, and blinked sleepily, with no intention of retiring anytime soon. The night was cool, and stars twinkled brightly, and the forest felt like it was calling to him again, stretching out past the fields that flanked the castle. Mickey grinned.
He left a note for Donald, just in case, though he doubted his friend would wonder where he’d gone. If you were close to Mickey, you knew he loved the forest. Knew that if he wasn’t here when you called, he was out among the rustling leaves and the river, traipsing through underbrush looking for something he never seemed able to find. But it brought him joy, and he’d always return with a bit more life in his eyes, so no one said a thing…though his closest friends could always see the longing in his gaze. It never did stop growing.
His horse whinnied as he urged it onward, that wild feeling settling in his chest as those hooves trotted over the drawbridge, then burst into a gallop the moment they touched the grass.  He’d chosen a plain brown cloak, and it fluttered behind him now, catching the wind in dramatic fashion. Mickey hollered, cherishing these moments of freedom. They came so rarely now, with all there was to do as king. But this…it was like things used to be. Almost.
The forest grew nearer, dusted with moonlight that graced the autumn leaves. He could almost hear them now, as the wind picked up and swept through the branches, and he watched the trees with growing anticipation. His heart swelled. So many memories were held within their grasp, under their canopy. Even the border of the forest, where the fields met with a wilder expanse, held an essence of–
He blinked, as a flurry of leaves were tossed into the air and fluttered about, just outside the forest. They glittered and for a moment, just a moment, he could have sworn the moonlight that passed through them had settled on a familiar form.
The world froze, and Mickey held his breath, his eyes growing wide. He hardly dared to believe it, and yet…
Hope is terribly convincing.
When they settled on the ground, the form was gone. But Mickey didn’t care. It was exactly how it had happened before, exactly how he’d seen her that very first time. A very wild look came into his eyes and he cried out, urging his steed to go even faster than it was before. Years of pent up loneliness and heartache fueled him now, filled him with a desperation beyond compare.
The moment his steed reared up as they reached the trees, Mickey leapt off and hit the ground running, stumbling over himself and gathering his footing just in time to keep pace. He could see a light blazing ahead, gleaming, darting from place to place and growing smaller with every moment that passed. He raced after it with all he had. Branches and thorns tore at his clothing, ripped through his tunic and bloodied his skin, but he hardly felt it.  He could only think of her, of any faint possibility that he might see her one last time, might even get to hold her in his arms.
The more he ran, the more his lungs burned and his vision blurred through the tears that lingered in his eyes. He needed her. He needed her. He needed her.
He burst into a clearing flooded with the last threads of moonlight, and all at once, that fiery light vanished. Mickey stopped, gasping for air, his eyes darting wildly across every corner, to every branch and shadow.  His chest was heaving, his whole outfit tattered, and his fur matted with dirt and blood. Those breaths faltered then, hitched in his throat, left him trembling.
He’d been so certain. So sure…so…
Foolish.
His legs gave out from under him, as he glanced at his surroundings. It was his memories that had led him here, he realized with a sharp jab of pain in his chest. The ground still held a faint layer of ash and soot, and the trees nearby were blackened by some past flame–a fire he remembered all too well.
Right at the center of it all stood the reminder of what had happened here. A beautiful tree in everlasting bloom stood swaying in the gentle breeze of night. Its petals seemed to radiate with a glow of their own as the moonlight graced their surface. It was lovely. Enchanting.
Mickey dug his fingers into the dirt at the sight of it all.
Up until now, he’d thought himself perfectly fine. Or something like it. Thought he’d been strong enough to move on without her here, or at least able to manage. And maybe, deep inside, he was. But in this moment, sitting face to face with evidence of their farewell, he felt for certain he’d been wrong. That loneliness and longing and heartache came crashing in all at once and though he didn’t cry–didn’t have the strength to–he drew in a shaky breath and buried his face in his hands.
“I miss you so much…”
He sat like that for a while, shuddering with emotion, unable and unwilling to move, or even lift his head. The moonlight grew fainter, shadowed, and tinged with a fiery red that he didn’t see. But the whole forest thrummed in its wake, those autumn colors sparking to life like tongues of flame. And the tree before him–-those milky-white petals–-began to stir with the wind.
It began gently, like a whisper, then began to grow into something greater. Soon, the blossoms were swept up in the whirlwind, now dyed with the same crimson that had flooded the rest of the forest–only brighter. As the wind rose and the sound grew and those petals released a blazing burst of light, Mickey finally lifted his eyes.
Before them, untouched by the howling wind, fluttered a single scarlet feather. Mickey’s lips parted breathlessly, and he stretched out his hand.
In the moment it graced his skin, the cyclone of petals blazed so bright that Mickey cried out and had to lift his hand to shield his eyes. But through the gaps in his fingers, he watched as he always had, though now there was something else in his stare. Tentative, cautious hope, and an ever-growing sense of disbelief.
The petals were no longer petals, but real tongues of fire. Those snaking flames came together like wings, formed the shape of a grand bird in their midst. It stretched above the mass of fire, arching over the tree with great, roaring feathers as it lifted its neck, craned its beak towards the sky. It beat its wings once, then lowered its gaze towards Mickey.
Their eyes met, and in the next second, the flames gathered again, spiraled upwards until the bird was gone. Mickey reached out, utterly terrified the flames would vanish entirely, and he’d be left alone all over again.
But as they shrank, they dimmed, and took shape, and ribboned around themselves. And when they had settled, they released a final flare of bright light.
Mickey drew in a breath.
She was there, in a shower of sparks and lingering embers. Her body was wrapped in those ribbons of fire, only now pieces of them returned to their flowery state, formed a glittering bodice, even as the rest of the flames wound about her hips and fell to the ground, trailing behind her in beautiful ribbons of golden light. Her arms were arched over her head, as the Firebird’s wings had been only moments ago, and a curtain of sparks fell down from them like magic. As the wind died down, she swayed lightly, and brought her hands down, drawing in a shuddering breath as her eyes fluttered open.
They landed on Mickey, and filled with tears.
Her lips formed his name, though no sound emerged. Before the last lingering petals had even fallen to the earth, Mickey had leapt up and stretched out his arms and she was there, flinging herself into them, wrapping her arms around him as he gathered her up and buried his face in her neck, nestling into her hair with shallow, shuddering breaths. She smelled like autumn–like every lovely part about it that had ever reminded him of her. Like crisp leaves and apples, all tinged with the lingering scent of fire–warm and full of comfort.
He squeezed her tighter, and she whimpered, nuzzling into him. Mickey was overcome. He dropped again to the ground, brought her in closer, and rocked her back and forth in his arms as she clung to him, and he to her, terrified that if he let his grip on her falter for even a moment, she would vanish again and be lost to him forever.
“Oh, Mickey…” she gasped through tears at last, her face still buried in his chest. “I waited for you. I never stopped waiting. I missed you so, so much. And I know you couldn’t see me, but I just kept trying to tell you, trying to tell you how sorry I was that I had to leave and I–”
“Shh,” he hushed her then, and nuzzled against her cheek. “Ya came back…” he murmured, his voice breaking. “Ya came back to me…”
Minnie was silent for a moment, just drew in a shaky breath and clung to him, utterly helpless. Mickey drew away for only a moment, catching the look in her eyes. Then a faint gleam of fire sparked in his own, and he leaned down into her, slowly, gently, caressing her collar with his fingers before leaving a kiss where his hand had been. She shuddered, and he traveled up her neck, endlessly soft as his lips pressed against her skin. When they reached her mouth, he hovered there, and opened his eyes to look at her. There was love in that stare, desperate and pleading. It was Minnie who satisfied his unspoken request, leaned in and met his parted lips with her own.
She flared, glowed, fire again swirling about her. Only this time, it leapt to Mickey too, though he felt nothing but the warmth of her mouth, and her heart beating against him. He hardly noticed how he himself glowed alongside her now, was caught up in the deep, pulsing magic that radiated from them both as they sat locked together, wholly unwilling to let go.
When they parted, breathless and flushed, they leaned their heads against each other, nuzzled their noses as close as they could. Mickey was trembling even more than Minnie, and for once, she thought she saw tears falling from his eyes.
“How…” he breathed, and swallowed, as if he could hardly bring himself to ask. “How long can y’stay this time?”
Mickey couldn’t look at her, his heart pounding against his ribs as he waited for her answer. Would it be weeks, days…minutes? This gift was already more than he could have ever hoped for, ever asked of her. She’d come back to say goodbye…but…oh, he would cling to her as long as he could.
He felt her flinch and thought that confirmed his worst suspicions. She’d be gone soon, swept up in the wind to fulfill her role. To return to her life of freedom. It was a wonderful thing, he told himself, and yet he braced himself, trying not to think about what it would be like to journey back to the castle without her in his arms.
“Mickey…” she murmured, and seemed to shiver. “How..how long would you want me to stay…if…if you could choose?”
He tried not to laugh, but he did. It was a sad sound, choked and garbled with tears.  The answer was obvious, surely, though he almost felt guilty saying it out loud. If she had but minutes to give, wouldn’t it be cruel to suggest he wanted anything more? Wouldn’t it be selfish?
But she looked up at him with those beautiful brown eyes–as deep and dark as the tallest redwood tree– and he knew he couldn’t lie to her.
“Awe, Minnie,” he whimpered, and ran his hands through her hair, before burying his face in it once again, knowing he was wetting it with his tears. “I’d stay with ya forever if I could…I wish more than anythin’ you could stay…”
Minnie let out a tiny gasp, and then sniffed. Then she stroked the fur on his neck, as tenderly as she could manage. “Then…I will,” she breathed, a little break making its way into her voice too now. “I’ll stay with you, Mickey. I’ll stay with you, now and…and forever!”
It took Mickey a moment to hear her, having been so sure he was preparing to say goodbye. But when her words finally registered, he froze, and then drew in a deep, gasping breath, and pulled back to look at her. Tears were streaming down her face, but Mickey’s ceased suddenly, a final droplet lingering in the corner of his eye as his whole face filled with disbelief.
“Ya…ya will…I mean, forever?? Min, are you…can you…is that…”
She was nodding, just nodding over and over again, and taking in his growing happiness with every moment. His lips began to curl, a light filled his eyes, and before she knew it, he had pounced on her, rolling her over on top of him and beaming up at her with sheer love and relief. Minnie laughed endlessly, her giggles scattered with tears, but they were happy now. So, so happy, like nothing she’d ever felt in her whole life.
“Aw, Minnie,” he breathed, still smiling, and lifted his fingers to her cheek, wiping away some of those tears with the back of his hand, then pressing his palm against her skin. He’d been about to say…something. But before he could finish, Minnie leaned in and had stifled his words once again, taking in the taste of his lips with every trembling moment.
When she pulled away, his eyes were clouded with bliss, but he licked his lips and managed to finish anyway, knowing even then that he had only seconds to speak. But it wasn’t for a farewell…it was for love, and that was all that mattered now.
That’s all he needed to say.
“Minnie…” She leaned in, lips hovering just a breath above his mouth, ready to meet him again the moment he’d finished.
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
The moon shone down on them both and flowers sprouted where they lay, unfolded their blossoms across the whole of the forest. Minnie wondered if Mickey knew that this was his doing, that those simple words sparked such life in her soul. Prompted such gentle, blissful magic.
She laughed softly, and smiled. If he didn’t know, she would show him now. Would imprint her gratitude on every part of his being. And if he still needed convincing, then she’d do it all over again.
They had forever after all.

Getting In The Twilight Zone - JenLiChaeng
"Jisoo was out doing a schedule so Jennie had stayed home with their maknaes who had regressed since the previous night, when they woke up they realized that their home had to get into the Halloween spirit, so they begged Jennie to let them decorate the place up. Of course, Jen told them yes, who could resist puppy eyes"

Jennie bid goodbye to Jisoo who had a schedule for the day before closing the door and going back to watching her show while cuddling the dogs, the day aimed to be a relaxing one, and of course she planned to enjoy it to the fullest, but what she hadn’t anticipated was for the hurricane that her two maknaes were bringing upon once they woke up. Jen had the luck of being able to watch a full episode of the drama she was watching before Hurricane LiChaeng struck, once awake they made their way to the living room searching for the unnies only finding Jennie there under a blanket with both Kuma and Dalgom snuggled against her.
Deciding that was good enough, they threw themselves next to Jen and began asking a bunch of questions, “Where Jisoo unnie? What you watchin’? Can eat waffles? Why ajumma crying on TV? Can cut doggie hair?”, after taking a couple of seconds to truly process the questions Jennie paused her show and turned towards the maknaes to answer them, “She had some work to do, I’m watching a show not meant for little ones like you, we can eat waffles, she’s crying cause something bad happened, and clearly you can’t cut their hair baby” responded Jennie finishing with a boop to each of their noses. Before going to the kitchen to prepare the breakfast that was asked Jennie put on some cartoons for the kids so they would be a little bit calmer and not make a huge disaster on the room.
When the waffles were cooked, some fruit was cut, diverse jams were out to try, some whipped cream, and some toppings Jen called the maknaes to come and eat, they came running like crazy while screaming about how they wanted their waffles. It was too early to deal with so much ruckus so Jen put a stop to it, “Okay you two calm down, first Rosie tell me what you want on your waffles baby” said Jen putting a couple of the waffles on a plate and getting them ready, “Umhh… Wan pe’simon jam and whipped c’eam an spinkles” described Rosie before being gave her plate saying a tiny fank u and pilling fruits on top of her plate, then came Lisa’s turn “Me want lotsa whipped c’eam an pink spinkles an mango jam, pwease” finished with a big smile, after thanking her she followed Rosé’s example and put lots of fruits on top of her waffles.
After Jennie prepared her own plate she sat down and began eating, thinking this would be a nice and calm breakfast but the girls wanted to tell her about the cartoon they were watching so she listened, “Mama we watch Kongsuni!! She funny an Lili wanna be wike Kongsuni!!” said Lisa, “Yeah Mama, Kongsuni pway wiff her fwiends an they have much fun!! They make cwafts wiff leaves from the twees!!” informed Rosé with a twinkle on her eye remembering the episode they had seen of ‘Kongusni and Friends’, they kept narrating everything that happened on TV, rambling on and on so Jen only paid half attention while focussing more on eating and making sure the girls ate.
Jennie inserted affirmative hums and some ‘really’ every once and then to let the kids know they weren’t being ignored, so she didn’t really hear what they asked her until the happy squeals of “Gomawo Mama, you da best! Saranghae Mama!” came from both littles. Gaining her full consciousness she dared to speak again, “Rosie! Lili! Can you tell Mama what she just agreed to? Please?” begged the Korean interrupting their little celebratory dance, with pouts and sad expressions they asked, “Was Mama ignoring Rosie an’ Lili?”, this broke Jen’s heart so she was quick to her response, “Oh no babies! Mama’s mind just decided to go away for a little and didn’t really hear what you asked. You know I would never ignore you on purpose” reassured Jennie while bringing the younguns on a hug.
Between tiny sobs, they asked again, “Kongsuni ask her eomma if they decorate house pwease, we wanna decorate the house like Kongsuni and Kongsuni eomma” retold Rosé, “Can we Mama, pwetty pwease? We wan pwetty house like Kongsuni” continued Lisa putting her hand together and making her best puppy eyes alongside Rosé. Of course, Jennie said yes, since she couldn’t resist those eyes begging, but she told them that first, they had to pick up all their toys and take their dogs out for a walk so they would get their energy (and go potty) before leaving them on their own at the house, after finishing the tasks they got dressed to go to the store and pick up the decorations they wanted.
The trip to the store was as chaotic as anyone would expect from the maknaes of Blackpink leading everything, they got out with a cart filled with a huge variety of decorations, and fitting everything into their car was a struggle but they succeeded at the end so happily made their way back home, not before stopping to buy some hot chocolate to drink while decorating their place. When they finished decorating it seemed as if an autumn monster had thrown up in there since the whole place was packed with decorations but somehow they made it work, there was a wreath on their front door, pumpkin light garlands around the windows, a bowl with tiny orange pumpkins were placed as a centerpiece on their table, some autumn-colored candles where placed on their coffee table in the living room, a tiny scarecrow welcomed you into the house, the cushions and blankets on their sofa were now in the same autumnal colors, and tiny bats hanging from the ceiling make the look complete.
Saying the day had been tiring was an understatement but Jennie couldn’t be any happier than watching her recently bathed babies babble about how much fun they had decorating the place for their Mommy, as soon as Jisoo had arrived they bombarded her with details about their day, so know that they had eaten dinner and were ready for bed Jennie could only feel blessed and content with her tiny family.

here's chapter three <3
i want them all, robin x you (part 3!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"We could let our friends crash in the living room
This is our place, we make the call"
part 2! part 4!
You leave the living room to go find more ice and smile like an idiot when you see her cleaning a couple of cups on the sink. Seeing her exist so naturally in your own house still made you unreasonably happy.
She was always beautiful, but tonight it was almost too much. Happiness did that for her. And, against all odds, she had been wrong all those times before. People, or a few of them, weren't that bad. Having friends was not a time bomb, a catastrofe waiting to happen, an eternal countdown. It was pretty cool. And it made her happy. So happy.
This year had been absolutely insane. It was exhausting to even think about it. But along the chaos, hatred and tragedy you two had grown closer to people you'd never in the world would’ve thought. I mean, fucking Steve Harrington was in your house right now! And you were okay with it! You were more than okay. You –and don't you ever tell him– kinda liked him..? Sophomore you is probably calling you a traitor in every language possible, how could you like that idiot?
Honestly, it had been just as surprising as it sounds. It’s not like you planned it.
But Robin and you desperately needed jobs during the summer –cause again, the running away thing– and the mall had recently opened so that was the most obvious choice. Besides, it meant spending all that time together without thinking excuses for your parents, and for two hormonal teenagers who had started dating just a couple months before, it was the best news in the world. Until you found out who was the third person that was gonna be working there. No joke, you almost quit on the spot. Not Steve! Literally anyone but Steve. And you knew Robin felt the same, even though she assured you pretty much every day that Tammy Thompson was not someone she thought about anymore.
But he was pretty chill now that he was out of Hawkins High. Which only proved your theory, school was a monster. He was great with kids, (he had a lot of kid friends, that was kinda weird) he knew how to handle customers (unless it was pretty girls) and he would always cover your shift if you needed to. He was also falling for your girlfriend, which wasn’t great but it was a bit amusing. Overall, he was a good guy.
But you liking Steve was only the beginning of the crazy things that happened during the summer. First there was the code, then the fucking elevator, then the russians (how could you forget the russians?) and then the magic kid and the giant monster.
So it was safe to say, summer had been wild.
Autumn had flown by after all that mess, and senior year had been good so far. Nobody tells you how exciting school can be when you have someone to secretly make out with in the bathroom. Your relationship was as good as it's ever been, keeping secrets was basically second nature for both of you. As sad as that might sound.
Good thing is, your mom and dad had decided to take a vacation for the holidays. Three. Entire. Weeks. Of an empty house and a possibility for you two of, inside these four walls, having a normal life. She had packed a bag and told her parents you were going to yet another break up and were in the urgent need of a “girls week”. Sometimes, like two percent of the time, being gay ruled.
You had spent these weeks cooking, reading, singing and wearing down every vinyl on your collection. Doing all those things you normally wouldn't. And it has been the best time of your life. Every time it got clearer and clearer that Robin was who you wanted to spend your life with. Even if that was something you would never confess to her right now. Even if legally that couldn’t even happen.
“You’re staring” she says. You just snort and hug her from behind. Struggling to get to her shoulder.
“Who gave you the right to be this tall, huh? Who do you think you are?” she laughs at your tease, pretending she can't hear what you're saying from so far above. With that she earns a light punch to her side.
“Ow!”
“You deserved it” you say with a smile that gets quickly attacked by her kiss. Surprised, you look at her with your eyebrows up. “What was that?”
“Oh, it's just something called kissing…” she jokes “I can give lessons anytime soon if you want. Ow!” another punch to the side.
“I mean– we have guests in the house”
“So what? They’re over there and it wouldn’t be so bad either if they found out, right?” your face shows confusion but you keep your smile. “Why are you looking at me that way? If you don’t want them to find out, I won’t tell them or do anything in front of them. At least not on purpose, but you know how hard it is for me to actually shut up! I mean the other day Steve heard me say goodbye to you over the phone and I had to tell him my grandma calls me babygirl and–- “
You kiss her again just to shut her up. A very recurrent situation in your relationship.
“I don’t care, Rob. But I thought you did…” you hug her a little tighter and you feel her relax in your arms.
“I mean, it’s not like I want the entire school to know about it… But maybe just Steve?”
“You wanna tell Steve?” you ask once again just to make sure she’s really okay with it.
“Yeah”
“Alright, then we’ll tell him.” you smile and she follows right after “We wait until Nancy and Jonathan are gone?” she nods and you let her continue with the dishes. The music sounds muffled from here, but you can hear laughter above it.
“So, just for the sake of the tradition…” you ask, sitting above the counter, next to her. “Where are you thinking of running away this year?”
She smiles to herself and thinks for a minute before answering, gaze never leaving the cups.
“Honestly… nowhere.”
You gasp, jokingly. “Who are you and what have you done to my girlfriend?”
She laughs a bit, but she’s serious when she says:
“What have you done to me? You made Hawkins a livable place!”
That thought, the fact that she didn’t care about where she was physically as long as she had you, made you melt with love. She was the sweetest person and you loved her so much it hurt. So, naturally, before leaving the kitchen with the ice in hand you have to steal one more kiss from her. You had planned a simple, quick kiss, but your girlfriend decided to grab your face and deepened it. You had cero (0) complaints, of course, but when you hear Jonathan’s steps in the hallway you barely have time to pull away.
“Guys? Steve just landed on the sacred stair and he might have to go back all the way to the start!” he explains as he enters the kitchen. You both hope he wont realize the faint traices of sexual tension left on the air. Or how you two are a liiitle closer than usual “Hurry up!”
You grab the ice and follow him out of the kitchen, not before shooting Robin a grin.
The other two were still in the living room playing some kind of game Dustin had invented. It made absolutely no sense, but Steve had promised to learn the rules and play with him. Robin had landed in some kind of pit so she had lost fifteen turns. Jonathan was a little ahead of you, but he had terrible luck with the dice. You were doing pretty good, but had drawn a curse card at the beginning of the game, which made it impossible for you to advance more than five steps at a time. And Nancy and Steve were currently fighting for the win. Nancy, who had landed on the “silence cave” and could not talk for the next two turns, was four steps behind him, but now Steve had landed on the “Sacred Stair”.
“So now if you get anything but a three you're doomed?” you ask, incredulously, as soon as you sit back on the table.
Nancy nods, Jonathan checks the handwritten manual for the fifth time, and you can’t help but laugh at Steve’s worried face.
“C’mon, Steve. You can do this.” he cheers himself up. You hear Robin scream “WAIT FOR ME” from the kitchen. A couple seconds later she's back at her spot next to you.
“Give me a three, a three, a three…” he throws the little dice a little too hard, it rolls and rolls and falls under the table. “NOBODY MOVE” All of you four find it hilarious how seriously he was taking this game.
“ITS A FIVE” informs your girlfriend with a smile on her face.
“NO WAY”
“YOU LOST!” joyfully screams Nancy, who was also taking this more seriously than she should.
“WHERE IS IT?”
“Now you have to go back to the book of secrets, babe” laughs her boyfriend.
“ITS A FUCKING FIVE. OH, C'MON!” he laments “After all the time that I spent trying to get the fives for the Philosopher Monster!”
And for a second everyone is happy –except for Steve, obviously– and for the first time in your life you are certain you have found your people.
The rest of the night practically flies by and when you all notice it’s ten thirty. Jonathan and Nancy had promised to be home by eleven, to celebrate with their families, so they say goodbye and thank you for the invitation. Nancy doesn’t lose the opportunity to make fun of Steve one more time before leaving.
“Let’s do this again sometime!” says Jonathan, kind as always.
“Yes! Can’t wait to beat you again, Steve!”
“Oh, shut up”
After a little more bickering the couple is gone and Steve stands by the door awkwardly. You know the problem, he didn’t have any family to spend the night with and he was also too embarrassed to tell you both, which was ridiculous.
“Well… I should get going too…”
“Steve, dingus, you can stay over '' clarifies Robin. His face lights up a bit, but he’s still a bit unsure.
“You’re sure?” he asks you, the owner of the house.
“Of course, Harrington.” You smile and he gives you a hug that catches you off guard. He even takes advantage of the height difference too and lifts you a little off the ground. You laugh and hit him on the back of the head, jokingly. “Put me down, idiot!” he does so and thanks you once more “Now, when you had the genius idea of knocking the board off the table–“
“Nancy’s fault!”
“… you also knocked the little carrots, I want them out of my floor by the time I’m done with dishes. Robin you’re in swapping duty, or the spilled soda it's gonna end up sticking to the floor”
“Yes, ma’am!” They both say. Posing as soldiers, with hands on their foreheads. You roll your eyes, and make your way to the kitchen.
After a while of tedious cleaning, —those damn carrots had flown everywhere— you take downstairs the couple of mattresses you kept for visitors and make a big bed in the middle of the living room. Steve’s early Christmas gift for Robin and you, a Queen record, was playing softly in the background and the clock on the wall marked fifteen minutes till midnight.
Steve’s in the bathroom but Robin and you are already in bed. She’s nervous, you can tell. She’s slightly trembling and fidgeting with her hands. It isn’t really the first time you both do this, but it’s as terrifying as the last time:
You two walk the distance between your math class and Mr Hauser’s classroom as you damn this fucking school for being so closed minded. All you wanna do right now is hold her shaking hand.
“We don't have to do this, you know?”
“But I want to.” She reminds you. You’re unsure “I really do. I'm just a bit nervous.”
“Are you sure this is gonna be fine? Maybe we could start with someone safer?” you offer when you face the door. Robin shakes her head no.
“Trust me, there’s no one safer than Mr Hauser.” you’re still not a hundred percent convinced, but she looks sure of her words and you would trust her with your life, so you knock on the door.
You both enter after you hear his “come in!”. He looks surprised to see you.
“Robin! Y/N! How nice to see you both” he greets.
“Hi” says Robin, who’s getting more and more nervous every second that passes.
“Hi, Mr Hauser.”
You occupy the first two seats as you chat about your winter break. Well, you and Mr Hauser, Robin is weirdly quiet because of the nerves. You try to help by holding her hand under the table.
“All the way to California?” the teacher is telling you about the winter break he spent visiting his family “That must have been nice"
“Yes! Great weather. And I even managed to find a copy of–”
“SO WE'RE DATING” says Robin out of the blue. You look at her astonished. “Y/N and I, we’re kinda– not kinda, we’re dating.” she explains. Her face is the same shade of red as her converse.
“Oh…” he says with a confused smile. You hold your breath, you know how much Mr Hauser means to her and not having his support would be devastating for Robin. “That’s great! I’m happy for you both"
You continue with the conversation, Robin actually participating this time. You even get to tell him all about your traveling plans. You also find out Mr Hauser was already aware of Operation Croissant, apparently Robin told him all about it, and he confesses he pretty much knew there was something going on between you two.
You’re having a really good time, but after a while you need to go. Today you had a geography test and you needed every second possible to study so you say goodbye to her and the teacher and make your way to the library. As soon as you leave Robin turns back to see Mr Hauser, who’s looking at her with a grin, waiting for her to talk.
“I know that you feel like I'm rushing into this, and it's probably a bad idea to make all these plans when we’re so young and delusional but—” she starts to ramble.
“Robin…"
“No, no, I know what you’re gonna say. ‘That’s just me being really in love for the first time’ but honestly it feels like i'm never gonna love anybody but her. Which I know sounds ridiculous cause we’re only seventeen and we have all our lives ahead of us an–”
“I was going to say that you look genuinely happy for the first time, Robin.” he explains with a small smile.
“Oh…” she breathes “I am. I really am.”
“Then there’s nothing more to say.”
So the whole telling Mr Hauser had gone well, and chances were telling Steve would go just as good. But it still felt awfully scary.
“STEVE, CAN YOU HURRY UP, DUDE?” Robin yells at him. She just wants to let it out.
“IM IN THE BATHROOM” he complains.
“AND WHAT’S TAKING YOU SO LON—?”
“WE DON’T WANT DETAILS. I REPEAT, WE DO NOT WANT DETAILS” you look at her with an ‘are you insane?’ look. Robin shrugs and you sight. “Rob, it’s gonna be okay, dummy. It’s just Steve.”
She looks at you and you know she’s really trying to believe you, but it's just not that simple.
“I know, I know. It 's just… too much, sometimes.” She shows her trembling hands and this time you do kiss her, taking advantage of the fact Steve’s still in the bathroom. Starting to realize this might be the last time hiding kisses. At least from him.
That sounded wonderful. So wonderful you kiss her even fondly. She accepts it, running her hand through your hair.
 “WHAT?”
Oh, fuck.
You drift apart from your girlfriend, who is still too shocked to even speak. She has the same guilty smile as you do. Like two kids caught red handed.
“…WHEN? W— WHAT?”
You might have broken Steve.
“YOU TWO ARE…” he starts to guess.
“Dating, yeah.” You explain. But that doesn’t erase his frown and confused gaze.
“For how long?” He says after a few seconds of silence.
You turn to Robin with a knowing look. “…a while”
“FOR HOW LONG Y/LN?” He’s not mad, just surprised. How could he have missed this completely?
“Nine months.” you reply.
“WHAT? SO YOU WERE ALREADY DATING WHEN I MET YOU?”
“Technically–” finally speaks Robin “ …yes. But only for a few weeks.”
“Wait, and all that time I…”
“Wanted to bang my girlfriend?” You complete his sentence “Yes, that was funny. But I don’t blame you, though, look at her.”
“Oh, shut up” complains Robin, rolling her eyes at you. You respond by sticking your tongue out. She tries to hide her smile, but, as always, fails miserably.
You’re about to make fun of her yet again, but remember Steve’s still sitting in front of you. He’s wearing one of your giant t-shirts, those he's been trying to steal for the longest time, you make a mental note to make sure he actually gives it back before leaving tomorrow morning. He’s still processing, you think, but just to make sure Robin asks:
“Are you… Are you okay with it?” there’s worry in her voice and that makes him snap out of his thoughts.
“Of course!” he assures and you feel her breathe again. It physically hurts to see her that anxious. She didn’t deserve a single bad thing. Ever. “I mean it’s a lot. And I feel like an idiot for not noticing–”
“Oh, that’s old news, Steve.” Robin chuckles, he doesn't find it as funny.
“Well I was gonna talk about how you two are actually a match made in heaven and how I'm so happy for you guys, but whatever...”
“Dear God, you’re such a drama queen.”
“Come over here, you dingus.”
You three hug and when you drift apart Robin’s smile could light up the room. You have never seen her smiling so big. It takes you every bit of self control to not kiss her right there on the spot.
Then you remember. You can! You can kiss her right here right now! In front of someone!
So you do.
“Gross!” Jokes Steve. Earning not one but two punches, one in each shoulder.

Eternal Love: Chapter 8
Tumblr media
—- 3 years later—-
I wake up to the spot in bed empty. This has become normal. We have talked about moving in together but with the engagement, life, and work for both of us it has been two hectic to add that to both our plates.
You seen I've known him since Hannah was found. When i came out to see Jake that first time I also had a meeting with him. Did I think almost five years later him and I would be engaged? Hell no!!! I was crazy about one man, the hacker of our group. I hear a little giggle from myself as I think those words.
The saying really is true 'one small event can change your life years from now.'
I pull myself out of bed and decide to spend my day off cleaning and getting some wedding planning done. I have been thankful of everyone accepting this man into the group but I can't ask any of them for help when I don't even know what I want yet. Plus we all agreed later to go to the Aurora. It has been a while since we all got together so its much needed.
—---------
After all day cleaning and wedding planning. I hear my phone go off with a text from my fiancee. I look and it states he's stuck at work and wont be able to make it tonight. I sigh but its something I've gotten use to with him. As its a chill autumn night I grab a pair of skinny jeans, my favorite comfy boots, a lightweight button down shirt and my leather jacket.
I decide to leave the car and just take the five minute walk there. I figured I can call him or hang at the Aurora until I sober up enough to walk home.
The walk is pleasant with the cold air nipping at my face. This leather jacket was well worth the price, im almost a little too warm in it but I leave it on. As I walk up to the Aurora I see Jessy, Alex, Dan and Lily. I couldn't be more happy for Jessy. After the mine I never thought she would find love but she did with Alex when we went to Colville for a girls weekend and after a while he moved to Duskwood. Dan and Lilly finally made it official. Now I just have to find someone for Cleo. I giggle as I walk up and Dan is the first one to hug me.
You see him and I both thought it was going to be weird after we broke up but our friendship blossomed and I would not want to be someone that hurts me. He had proven it one night with Phil when we were all drinking and they got into a fight over me.
We head inside and grab drinks from the new bartender Phil has to help him out and grab our booth. We sit there laughing and joking around the five of us when I look up and I see him. He came with Hannah and Thomas but he's here and Lily didn't tell me.
My head snaps to her and she looks away. "You could have told me'' I raise my voice a little higher than I should.
"It shouldn't matter you are engaged" she states back holding her own.
Dan leans back and lets this unravel. I just glare at her. The three of them join us as we wait for Cleo who shows up just little bit later. I see her look at Jake but she doesnt know who is he.
I stand up and down my drink. I get another one and head to the pool table. I'm frustrated, someone could of told me he was back. Why is he not covering his face? I shouldn't care though. I look at my left hand and remind myself I have a fiancee. One that never walked away from me in the middle of the night but dang it hurts seeing him.
I feel someone lean against the pool table. I look up expecting Dan or Jessy but no I'm met with his blue eyes. I notice he looks down at my left hand and I see the sadness in his eyes.
"Congratulations, MC. Who is the lucky man? I know its not Dan and you haven't spoken a word to Phil I hear." His voice soft only loud enough for me and him.
I take a sip of my drink. I had wanted that ring by him but no. He choice to leave me. "Alan Bloomgate" I start trying to fake a smile.
"I wasn't expecting that. I do want to say I'm sorry" he looks me in the eyes.
"Jake you're the one that walked away and told me to move on." I feel the tears in my eyes.
"I had asked you to come that night because the FBI reached out to offer me a deal. I started taking it but then something told me it was a trap. I didn't know what to do but run, its what I was good at until YOU came into my life. I spent the next year and a half on the run. Trying to run from the demons in my head that involved leaving you and running from them." He grabs my hand.
"No, Jake" I pull away.
"I had hoped you wouldn't have moved on but you did but if you will let me I still wanf to be in your life. I'm free now. I have been for three months."
My jaw drops, three months ago Alan and I weren't engaged. "Did Hannah and Lily know?' Ask glaring over at the table.
"Yes but they also knew he was going to propose to you." He states but I storm over to the table.
"How dare you two!" I yell. "Three months! Three damn months! Someone could of told me!" I feel like I can't breathe and storm outside.
I see a wooden bench and go and sit on it. My heart is racing, I feel my blood pressure rising. All these years, those two knew how I felt about Jake. I would of left anyone for that man. However now I feel stuck. Alan proposed to me three weeks ago and I so happily said yes.
Would I still have if I knew he was free?
 I can't answer as the chance was taken away from me.  I fold my head into my hands, I feel the tears coming. I feel someone sit down and put their hand on my back. I don't move, I know who it is.
"MC, they thought they were giving you a happy life." Dans voice is soft.
"They could of told me. You know it yourself, my heart is always drawn to that man. Even now, how am I supposed to walk away from him?"
"Boo, your not the same MC when you joined us." He's trying to reason with me.
I look up and I notice Hannah standing near by. "How am I suppose to call Alan to pick me up, when I don't even know if I can still marry him?"
"MC, I should have told you. It was my choice not to tell you he was free. He asked us too since he didn't know your number anymore. I made that choice because I know how Alan feels about you. I have know that man for a while wven before everything. Even with his exwife he wasn't as happy—"
I cut her off "you have no right to decide who i want in my life! You were barely there for me when my heart was broken into a million pieces. You only cared about updates from Jake because his spare time he told me not you how he was. The moment Jake and I broke up you only dealt with me because of the rest of the group. I didn't have to help them or him find you! So keep your thoughts to yourself about who should and shouldn't be in my life!"
"Hannah go back inside" Dan states as I turn around and he feels my anger showing.
She walks back inside the Aurora without arguing. "Calm down boo,okay? You wont be able to figure this out angry at everyone."
"How can she act like she has my best interest at heart when she never took the time to get to know me?" I shiver as I left my jacket inside.
Dan notices my shiver and gives me his jacket. "I think she's more trying to do whats best for him. After you stormed out Lily said ' we should have told her like he asked' and I  agree. They shouldn't have let Alan propose."
"Did you know Dan?"
"I found out a week ago. But they didn't tell me you didn't know. I thought you knew and made the choice to be with Alan."
" ugh I need some shots right now" I state, standing up.
We walk inside and head straight to the bar. This time Phil is there and I don't see Hannah or Thomas. We order a bunch of shots and Dan and I line them up. I of course manage to outdrink this man which makes Phil laugh.
"I need to stop letting you outdrink me" Dan says as he finishes his last one and I get myself another round. Phil tries to stop me but when he notices my glare he lets go.
I look back at the table and I see Jake sitting there talking to everyone. I pull out my phone and look at the photos and text from Alan. My smile fades  as Dan grabs my phone.
"I will call him when your ready to go home but tonight you are having fun." I sigh as my round of shots come and I down them again.
I've been leaning against the bar and now Im dizzy. I notice my song playing and I grabs Dans hand and pulls him on the dance floor.
Everyone else joins us and all of a sudden i feel different hands behind me but i don't stop to look or think. Dan is right I need some fun tonight.

wondering if i get so melancholy every year around this time because for roughly the first 18 years of my life, it was a time of joy and excitement. i loved back to school day so much. so much. the new stationery i'd get to gear up for it, my shiny pretty pencil case, whatever backpack i was rocking that year (fond memories of my black and pink powerpuff girls backpack and also my pale blue snoopy backpack!), what outfit i was gonna wear, my hair....one time i even decided i was gonna debut cornrows on the first day back lol. 3 hours in a hair stylist's chair just to look snazzy for first day back. the excitement in the air was so palpable i could probably pee myself from excitement on the drive up to the school. seeing all your favorite teachers' faces, seeing all your old friends, and the new kids — oh my god, the new kids. us boy obsessed girls immediately trying to assess if there were any new hot guys this year or if that was a wasted hope, scoping out everybody who looked new and unfamiliar, immediately grabbing the new girls and getting them to sit with us, get to know us, get to know all about them and accept them into our fold.
i know i tend to rose tint SO many things in my past and that too might be a trauma reaction to paper over all the bad, but my god was school my happy place and refuge. i did not experience SAD in my childhood or teens because well, for starters, it didn't get as cold in the city as in england or here up in the mountains. or in moscow, but whether the cold ass weather had any effect on me back then, difficult to say. i think not. probably more like i enjoyed it because of all the fun stuff, ice skating, sledding etc. that particular affliction probably came on with my depression and compounded every year after i turned 18 until it finally hit me that every year, without fail, i was becoming extra suicidal each november. now at least i know and and can steel myself and prepare and that somehow mitigates the worst of it.
but yeah.... maybe this is it. i read some girl's account of how she remembers a particular trauma every august, that without intending to, her body remembers it and she tenses up and feels those effects. can you feel something equally profound for a happy memory that you miss now? maybe that's a part of it. i always felt so bittersweet seeing "back to school" banners in stores or online shops, even back when i was going to uni, knowing that demographic no longer includes me. that used to be one of my favorite times of year, as slow boring summers came to an end and the excitement of a new school year crept up, slowly, even as it was still hot. shit i could probably rival harry's excitement getting on the hogwarts train, and i don't think my family situation was half as dreadful as his ever. it was just an exciting, happy time, and to think that my autumns have become...very much not that, well i could just cry thinking about it. the acute and vast gap between the two experiences is indeed great. i think i long for the structure too, the blocked out blocks of days that were scheduled for me, the after curriculars, all of that. you really don't have time to be sad about the weather changing when you're so fucking busy with basketball practice or trying to put on a play. you really don't.
now i'm like lmao should i just get some qualifications and go into teaching. lowkey it would feel like a hack of getting some of that magic back, as an adult. maybe if all my dreams end up in the toilet and none of it pans out, i could do that. a new backup plan lol. or nah, i would probably not like the reality of being a teacher, not at all. i just want to feel the magic of getting out of the car and seeing my favorite teacher. i miss them all so.

Seasons
We met in the winter I didn't know if you were single You caught my eye And my first thought was: "What a nice guy!"
Spring came and we became friends I haven't told you, but I was upset that you already were with someone else I wasn't sure if you liked me back But even if you did I didn't want to interfere It wasn't okay for your girl to feel thrown away and for me to be the reason why her pillow is filled with tears.
I won't lie when summer came I loved you even more by then. We said goodbye, then you smiled "Feel free to call whenever you like". I was happy you said that but I didn't want to bother or be burden for you to bear. I was so sad now that we said goodbye And I wanted you by my side for the longest time.
Autumn came And my love for you grew even bigger I wondered what's happening in your life so I decided to give you a call. You said that you've never been happier. I didn't know if it's because of my call or because you're married now. The truth is: you weren't married I just made an assumption out of fear On 3rd October you messaged me: "I want to talk" I replied the day after that saying: "I can't right now" And I was hoping for you to say "Don't worry, We will schedule it for another time". But you never said anything back Found out you left a girl you were with and now you're with a friend I bet she's the one you longed to have Despite that, I still waited for another 3 years. I kept wondering If you have ever liked me back...? Was there any intention behind your pretty smile? Kindness you gave me is immune to time.
Seasons have changed, so did you I've also changed, I just needed 3 years more than you. I no longer wait But I keep words you said to me in back of my head
"Never look back, just go on with your life" Maybe then you perfectly predicted what would happen to us

CHRISTMAS 2022
I sure do enjoy the holiday festivities, but in years like this, I miss all my kids being home for Christmas.  Tiffany and Ben were able to come to Prescott twice in December, and I am ever so grateful. We saw Taylor and Cate in Colorado at Thanksgiving and for that I am grateful.  We haven’t seen Maddy since summer, but we saw her twice in the summer and for that I am also grateful.  But Christmas is not the same when some of your kids aren’t home.
But we made the best of it, starting with a holiday party at Ben’s parents house on Friday where we did a white elephant gift exchange, enjoyed a meal together and ended the evening with hot cocoa around the fire pit outside.
Saturday we headed down to Phoenix to spend time with family.  First we started at Dave’s sister’s house in Tempe.  Her husband Dan had all 3 of his kids there and two of them had significant others.  Another nephew and his girlfriend were there along with one more nephew.  Then Dave’s brother and his wife, who were visiting family, came over to enjoy the festivities too. Sheryl made monkey bread and many types of quiche for everyone to have a meal together.  It was such a nice time.  And my newest niece by marriage also came over with her Mom and I hope she wasn’t overwhelmed by how big that side of the family is
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the afternoon we headed over to my sister’s house. She had her in-laws over as well and she made a huge prime rib and my parents brought shrimp to make with it.  The kids opened their presents from grandparents and my sister and her husband.  She loves to get them their big gifts, and I so appreciate she and her husband are able to do that for my girls.  Devyn got super nice shoes and a curling iron, Autumn got an Apple watch and Tayleigh got a chromebook.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then headed back up to Prescott with one pit stop to pick up Devyn’s boyfriend, David.  He was down visiting with his Dad David (I know, so many Davids!) and we had offered to give him a ride back to Prescott so his Dad didn’t have to make the round trip.  We had wanted to watch a movie when we got home, but it was after 9pm and we were all pretty tired from the day, so decided to put off the movie until Christmas Day.
As your kids get older, you can actually sleep on Christmas Day.  We told Devyn’s grandparents to come over at 9am as that was when we hoped to start opening gifts.  Devyn was going to make breakfast, but didn’t realize her breakfast was supposed to sit overnight, so I quickly came up with an alternative breakfast plan.  Tayleigh read the Christmas story out of the Bible, as that is how we start our morning before opening gifts.  We truly want to remember the reason for the season.
Tumblr media
We all took turns opening gifts and everyone was happy with what they received.  There were clothes, lego sets and a Wii gaming system for the family, along with lots of other goodies.  We ate breakfast and then Devyn’s grandparents left for the day and Devyn’s boyfriend came over.  I played the Wii with two of the girls - they love Mario Cart. Tayleigh and Devyn each made an appetizer to go with all the other appetizers I planned.  It was an afternoon of snacking and hanging out together, and my husband put a new circuit board in our heater and a battery in another car.  He doesn’t have a lot of time to get those things done since he works 6 days a week, but I was sad he did them on Christmas.  We ate together at 3:30 and then Devyn and her boyfriend David headed over to his house for awhile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which turned out to be the perfect time to take a Christmas nap.  Then my husband and I called our families, we are so grateful most of our parents are still with us.   We were able to FaceTime Taylor and Cate and also Ben and Tiffany.  Maddy got tied up with her plans,but we hope to FaceTime her later this week.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We ended Christmas Day by watching the new “Glass Onion, A Knives Out Mystery” movie on Netflix.  It was nice to have our 3 youngest in the living room along with the boyfriend of the one, enjoying a family movie together.   Overall it was a wonderful and relaxing day and over the holidays we got to spend time with so many family members.

this is my diary btw so im gonna write whatever
me rambling abt music i listened to
i used to love the metal band wintersun. ive basically listened to the album wintersun thru grade 9 and 10. because back then mp3 players had little space and mine only fit that one album. i listened to it daily for hours. for two years. yeah lol
i liked venom too i guess...
oh my fav emo band was the used. love love love. it really got me thru my worst teenage depression. i just listened to the album up and down for hours singing along whenever i was alone. so much sad
i listened to green day too, just that american idiot album. i was broke af as a teen and only had a handful of albums. my moms boss actually burned me a copy of american idiot! i was sooo happy that she did that. my mom used to clean ppls homes and i went with her a few times to help her and this lady had a really nice place and a big music ...anlage (lol) station? and she had green day and stuff and i told my mom how surprised i was that a middle aged lady was so cool. my mom told her next time and she burned me some cds :D so cool
my parents were usually v dismissive of me being goth and listening to metal music so this really meant a lot
in fact, my dad once said i was a psychopath and crazy and not right in the head! haha. now im grown up and dont call him. suck it, loser. thats what u got for abusing ur kid.
anyway, what else did i listen to? i had a last.fm account and listened to a lot of music but now i can barely recall. some japanese rock artists def. some handpicked metal songs that were popular that i got from youtube.
wait does my lastfm acct still exist lol
oh indeed! found it. well one of them. i had like two or three idk. lets see. theres scrobbles from 2007, 2008 and 2014 lol
Tumblr media
there we go!!!! lets see :D
wintersun - like i said. emilie autumn ooooh of course. still got her stuff on my phone. her songs were my main inspiration for my first ever OC.
then theres a few metal bands i remember liking but i wasnt like suuuper into them.
yes i like panic!at the disco. u may bully me.
some kpop. eisregen isnt that a racist? (i say, knowing full well a lot of metal band dudes were racist). only listened to like 3 songs of those.
kate nash, yeah, my girl! i think thats from later. all her songs are super, she first started with very tv britpop, but relatable. foundation is a perf song. and over time she released more songs but she did develop a lot musically, going a bit more rock at times. super awesome. i was at one of her concerts this year. amazing experience. i love her.
k.i.z. okay. yeah. thats a german hiphop band. their thing is satire, i guess. how should i explain it. meh. i dont listen to them anymore because i started feeling uncomfortable with how they do things. they do a lot of social commentary, but they also used a lot of slurs, in like, ironic ways. that was perf acceptable back then.
she!!!! my 8bit music era!!!! 8bit music is super cool. still have a lot of it on my phone but i dont listen to it much. it gets a bit boring over time
death cab for cutie... how could i forget. what sarah said is one of the bangers in my depression playlist.
janelle was a recent discovery.
theres some more kpop, some more metal down there. nirvana - of course. i binged them. i felt so much heartbreak when i "discovered" them and learned their background. i listened to them a lot lot.
theres daft punk, of course, some japanese artists, utada hikaru, dir en greys, mucc, gackt, malice mizer, ayumi hamasaki. all cool. yuna ito... whos that? ohh she was reira in nana. i listened to mika nakashima too!! that manga was really formative. oh she still makes music
oh damn instead of cleaning im sitting here talking abt myself

I hope you are okay now my dearest author🥺💛.
It's so sad to hear whom I love so much ( I mean platonic 😅) is not feeling well.
I hope you are taking care of your body and mind well. I will pray for your well being🥺🤍.
I had a very shitty day too. I mean I always feel shitty, inferior, out of place, left out all the time unless when I am alone. But, today hit hard☹️.I had all my shitty feeling at once, I don't know how to explain this(or am I the one who just over think and wants validation from others😩).I just wanted to cry as I was sitting alone on the bus. everyone seems so happy, had someone whom they wanted to be with, laughing, having fun and there I was sitting there like a widow (🤕😂).I felt so out of place (even though I always feel that way)but today really hit home .
I have come in term with being not anyone 's first choice. I am okay with even being 10th choice . It's enough for me. I am tired of people using me as they please.
Tired of being abandon everytime. I just accept now that I am boring. I am just a aesthetically pleasing young soul whom fuckboys always try to hit on and treat rudely and leave when I don't reciprocate their feelings. I am tired of girls thinking me as compitition and hating me for no reason.
I am always polite and try to help as much as I can to everyone to be treated like shit and being hated for no reason.
Jungkook is really a comfort person 🌼💚.he and your blog is really my only means to escape from reality these days.
And, lastly listen to EXO D.O.'s" that's okay" song. It's very healing. I always listen to that. And it help me sleep at night. IU also really like that song. She said that it was the only song that made her cry for the first time since her debute and it also helps her sleep too. Highly recommended 😄👍.
-autumn anon
hello autumn anonie <3 i’m sorry for the late respond i’m still sooo busy with school these days so it’s been tough :( but i hope you are feeling better now! me and jungkook and my blog will always be here for you. and honestly, there was a time in my life when i felt the way as you do. but i’ve decided that i should always put myself as the first choice and the top priority. if pleasing others only takes away from you, then maybe you should find other things that will fulfill you instead! sending you hugs and wishing you all the best in life 🫂🌸

Tumblr media
prologue. cherry blossoms fall at a speed of 5cm/s.
“They say it's five centimeters per second.”
“What is?”
“The speed at which cherry blossoms fall. It's five centimeters per second.”
“You seem to know a lot of this stuff.”
“The cherry blossoms are like snow, right?”
She ran off across the train tracks, not sparing a moment to wait for him. The train barriers went down, blocking his path to the girl.
Opening her pink umbrella (the exact same shade as the petals that she had watched with him earlier), she said to him with a gentle smile, “It would be great if we could watch the cherry blossoms fall again next year.”
The sound of the train passing by in front of them interrupted all their thoughts.
Tumblr media
ACT ONE: us in the past.
i. sakura petals cascade down gently, almost like how our love slowly blooms.
He clutched the fragile letter in his hands, reading through every single word.
“Dear Heeseung, summer is pretty hot here, but not as scorching as Tokyo. But when I think about it, I miss Tokyo's hot summers too. I still remember all the scenery there, and even though the air-conditioning was freezing cold in the shopping malls, I miss it. The last time I saw you was at our elementary school graduation. It's already been 6 months. I can hardly believe so much time has passed. I wonder if you still remember who I am?”
Of course I do.
-
“Dear Heeseung, thank you for the reply. I’m heartened to know that you still remember me. It made me so, so happy. It’s well into autumn here, and the leaves have turned a brilliant orange. I even had to pull out a sweater for the first time in months yesterday. I’m-”
“Heeseung? What’s that? A love letter?”
He snapped his head up, startled to find a classmate of his, his grip on the white paper tightening.
“Is it true that you’ll be transferring next month?”, she asked. He replied with a sad “Yes”, and she said, “I see. It will be lonely here without you.” he smiled sadly, and turned his attention back to the precious letter in his grasp.
“I’m actually writing this letter on the train, because school and practice have been starting very early these days. I cut my hair the other day… even my ears are visible. It’s that short. You probably wouldn’t be able to recognise me if you saw me in public.”
No, I would recognise you anywhere.
“I’m back!”, his mother called out from the doorway, interrupting his letter-reading. “Welcome home.” the drowsy sound of the washing machine played lazily in the background.
“I bet you’re changing little by little too, Heeseung.”
Around him, the lights from rooms of the building opposite began to go out like flames in the dark night sky,
-
“Heeseung, have you been doing well these days? It's getting colder. It’s been starting to snow here. Everytime it snows, I wrap myself in blankets at home. I don’t think it’s snowed in Tokyo yet, right? Even though I've moved away for months, I still look at Tokyo's weather forecast out of habit.”
He contemplated on what to reply with.
The next day, he asked his friends, "Hey, have you ever been to Tochigi?”
“Tochigi? No clue.”
“... that’s what i thought.”
-
He fished out the letter he hadn’t finished reading yesterday from his school bag.
“I was surprised to hear that you were the one transferring schools this time in your reply. We both got used to transferring schools when we were little… But still, Kagoshima? That's pretty far away , isn’t it? It’s no longer a distance where I can meet you whenever I want just by riding a train for half an hour. That makes me feel a little… lonely. I know you can’t help it though. Take care, Heeseung.”
ii. i love you sounds like a promise.
“Dear Heeseung, I'm so, so happy that we will be seeing each other on 4th March. It’ll be just about a year since we last met, won’t it? I don’t know why, but I feel kind of nervous. Thank you for agreeing to meet at the station nearest to my house, it’s a long journey so be careful. I will see you at 7pm at the waiting area of the station. Also, there’s a large cherry tree near my house, so I bet that in the spring… the petals will fall at five centimeters per second. I’m really hoping spring will come with you on that day, Heeseung. You know why.”
I do.
His alarm clock beeped for 12am, 4th March.
-
It was raining heavily outside that day. Heeseung heard some of his classmates mumble, “It’s supposed to snow by tonight.”
He was packing his things, getting ready for the long train ride. Running over to his locker and throwing his things inside, he pulled out a piece of paper, filled with an elaborate plan of his calculations. If all went right, he would be able to reach about 10 minutes before (name) did.
His watch showed 3.54pm, he was 6 minutes before time. Good. He ventured out in the rainy scenery before his eyes, pulling the hood of his coat over his head.
He got on the train, standing near the window. He looked outside and all he could see were small buildings flashing before his eyes, and snow. Snow. It wasn’t supposed to snow now, not now. Why now? Why did it not snow at night like what the weather forecast said it would?
His mind wandered back to when they were 8, and having the time of their lives.
“Hey, have you finished the book I lent you?”
“Yes, it was great! I loved it.” Not as much as I love you.
“Look! It’s a crab!” She proudly showed him her creation of a crab made out of french fries. He stared in awe, eyes sparkling. But they sparkle more when I look at you.
-
“Heeseung! It’s the cat we fed last time!” she jumped up and down excitedly, squealing when the cat made its way towards her, weaving itself between her legs. She bent down to pet its head, apologizing for not bringing any food. She picked the cat up and spun around, face lighting up with joy. Have I ever told you that I love your smile?
-
They were so similar. Exactly one year after Heeseung transferred to this new school, (name) transferred too. They both weren’t the most fond of loud places, and preferred spending time in the library. Naturally, they started talking and soon became close friends, and he had even saved her from a group of bullies ganging up on her. She had done the same too.
They were so similar, and so… in love. Maybe it was an exaggeration to say that at the mere age of 8, but he truly did feel a connection with her.
For some strange reason, Heeseung thought that they would end up going to the same middle school, high school and so on. He thought they would stay together, just as they were doing right now. How wrong he was.
iii. but every second felt like an eternity.
“Shinjuku, Shinjuku, last stop. For passengers who…” the announcement faded away.
Heeseung raced down the stairs to change train lines, reaching the train just in time before the door closed behind him. It was the first time he was at Shinjuku station. His heart pounded rapidly. He was finally about to see (name) again.
“This train will be stopping for 4 minutes to connect with the express train. For passengers headed…”
Heeseung got off the train, waiting in line to catch the next train.
He sighed as another memory freed itself from the cage he tried to lock it in.
-
“You’re transferring schools? But you went through all that trouble to get accepted in your current one.”
“I'm moving to a school in Tochigi… I'm so sorry.
“No, don’t feel sorry…”
“I tried telling my parents I could go from where I'm at now but they said they won’t let me until I'm older. I’m sorry…” her voice cracked at the last few words.
“You don’t have to say anymore, I understand.”
“I’m sorry…”
Through the speaker, he could clearly hear how her heart shattered like glass falling from a shelf. Yet there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.
-
At the terminal Heeseung transferred to, there were crowds of people coming home after work. The smell of fresh snow lingered in the atmosphere, the sound of squeaky rain boots from the commuters reached his ears like an unwanted melody.
“Due to the unexpected snow, the trains headed to Oomiya terminal will be experiencing a short delay of 8 minutes in arrival. We seek your understanding and patience…”
Yet another delay. Until that moment, Heeseung had never even considered the thought of the trains arriving late. He looked at his travel plan, glancing back and forth from his watch to the handwritten words on the crumpled piece of paper. His anxiety grew even larger.
“The train is currently running 10 minutes late. We apologize for any inconveniences in your busy day…” The dreaded announcement played, with Heeseung losing hope every minute.
His watch showed 5.54pm.
“Dear passengers, due to the delay of the previous train, we will be stopping at this station for a while. We appreciate your understanding.”
The stations seemed to move further and further apart from each other, and Heeseung thought that he might never even be able to reach his destination. When the train finally moved, it seemed to stop at every single station for an unbelievably long wait, and time quickly passed by in a flash. He had more than 20 stations to go, and his watch showed 6.59pm. He had a minute left.
Tick.
It was 7.00pm.
The wait was so painfully long, and Heeseung was so, so hungry. Everything was dampening his spirits, and he never imagined that such a long-awaited day had turned into his worst nightmare. Everything was going wrong.
The time on his watch moved like a flash of lightning, yet the wait on the train was like a snail moving.
The time they said to meet had passed, and Heeseung dejectedly dumped his bag on one of the seats. He was scared that (name) was beginning to worry. He took out the letter meant for her from his pocket, gazing defeatedly at it.
The day she called him to tell him that she was transferring schools, he decided to write every single thing he had wanted to say. He worked on that one letter for 2 weeks, pouring his heart and soul into it. He couldn’t wait for her to read it and couldn’t wait for her reply. in the letter, he had confessed his feelings.
Stuffing the letter back in his pocket, Heeseung got off the train, heading to the next terminal to change lines. Staring at the piece of paper filled with his plans yet again and gazing at his watch, he walked towards a vending machine. The time was 7.41pm, and he was feeling so utterly defeated.
He reached into the pocket of his coat to pull out coins to buy a can of coffee. Rummaging in it, he pulled his hand out. The slightly creased letter got caught on his hand and fell out of his pocket, flying out into the snowstorm outside. There was nothing Heeseung could do except watch the letter fly away, until he could no longer even make out the silhouette of it. He hit the vending machine with his fist in frustration. Tears welled up in his eyes as he stared down at his shoes, standing there like a pathetic loser.
Everything was going wrong.
iv. all that remained was the lingering feeling of her soft lips.
Heeseung got onto the next train, still thinking back about the letter he had poured all his love and heart into writing. It was so sad that something so precious could be taken away so easily.
“Dear passengers, due to the heavy snow, we will be making a temporary stop here. We apologize for any inconvenience…”
Heeseung stared at the black watch on his left wrist. 8.54pm. His face dropped as he removed the watch, placing it onto the small silver tray beside him. He was convinced that this was the worst thing that could ever happen, and that things could not get any worse. At least he found some stupid comfort in that knowledge.
Thinking about her letters, he seemed to picture her always writing them alone, with no one beside her to keep her company.
In the end, the train stopped there in the wilderness for almost 2 hours.
The universe clearly hated him.
He couldn’t do anything but sit there and wait. He was sure (name) would have gone back home by now.
Please tell me you have already returned home.
-
When Heeseung finally reached his destination, it was 10.50pm. (name) would definitely not be here anymore. He walked down the stairs, greeting the officer at the information counter with a defeated smile.
Where would he stay now? What would he do? He travelled almost 7 hours just to be defeated by this stupid thing called time.
He continued walking, dragging his feet behind him. Looking up, he saw a brief silhouette of a girl, his eyes widening in pure shock. He walked closer, stopping a few meters away from her. Her, who was sitting in front of a roaring fireplace, wrapped in a red scarf.
No… tell me you’ve gone home. Tell me you didn’t wait for me until now…
He walked even closer, stopping in front of the girl. It was her.
“(name)...”
She slowly turned her head up, vision blurring with tears when she saw his face. All she could do was hang onto his coat and sob.
-
He grabbed a rice ball from the handmade bento she’d worked on since this morning.
“How is it?”
“It’s the most delicious rice ball I've ever had.”
“You’re exaggerating…!”
The pair sat in front of the fireplace, eating and talking. Maybe this journey was worth it in the end.
-
The pair walked into the slightly less heavy snow, their footprints making an imprint in the blanket of white beneath their feet.
The girl ran into the winter wonderland, stretching her hands out as she caught the small flakes of snow in her palms.
“Hey, is that the cherry tree you talked about in your letter?” The boy asked.
“Yeah. It's the cherry tree. Don’t you think it looks a little like snow?”
They gazed into each other’s eyes. ”It sure does.” Their lips met.
As the snow fell softly to the ground, Heeseung was suddenly filled with a strange sadness. He knew that from that point on, they wouldn’t be together forever. All that could stay with him was the lingering feeling of her warm, soft lips.
That night, they stayed in a shack by the field, wrapped together in layers of blankets. They fell asleep side by side.
-
The next morning, the two parted.
"Heeseung, I'm sure you'll be okay from now on. I know it."
"Thank you, (name), you'll be okay too!"
The train doors closed shut, separating the two.
"I'll write to you, I'll call you too!" He desperately tried to shout his last words, placing his palm on the window of the glass door. Matching her palm to his, she smiled, trying to hide her despair. The train left the station.
He never told her about the letter for her that he'd lost, because his world changed after that kiss.
She took out a pink letter from her bag, meant for him but never given in the end. She wistfully looked towards the never-ending blue sky, and for once she felt that there was still hope.
He, too, looked out towards the scenery beyond the window. Everything was blanketed beneath a thick layer of white snow. The blue sky was clear, still, filled with clouds. If Heeseung saw correctly, there was one in the shape of a flower. He wondered if she had spotted that cloud too.
There was a strange comfort in the knowledge that they would still be under the same sky, forever.
ACT ONE: us in the past. END.
Tumblr media
ACT TWO: the missile in the dark sky.
v. and yet i know it was love at first sight.
Sumida took in a large breath, trying to gain the courage to talk to him.
She walked over to where he was practicing archery, a smile dancing on her face when he saw her. “Good morning, Heeseung!” she chirped.
“Good morning, Sumida. You went to the beach again right? You’ve been practicing hard.”
Her face grew warm at the praise. “I wouldn’t exactly say that…”
-
She still hadn’t filled in the form.
Ah, the form. The one where they asked every student in school to tell them what they were aiming for in life. Be it a dream job or further education, Sumida had no idea at all what she wanted to do.
“Of course, you haven’t filled it out. Everything that’s on your mind is about Heeseung.” her friend said with a knowing laugh. She denied it strongly, a blush growing on her face at the mere mention of his name.
That evening, she stared out towards the open sea. When would she be able to surf again? The thought worried her.
-
The next day after class, she stood behind a wall near the bike shed. After spotting him, she gasped and hid back behind the wall. Pretending to have run into him there, she walked out.
“Sumida? You’re on your way home too?”
“Ah, yes…”
“Let’s go back together.”
Since the start, Sumida had always thought Heeeung was different from the other boys. She fell in love with him at first sight, on the day he transferred to her class. Every single day, she thought that her love for him grew even stronger. She didn’t know what to do, and she was scared every day.
“Sumida? We’re at the convenience store, do you want to buy the packet milk that you drink every day?”
She nodded her head, and rushed inside the shop. After paying, she stepped out, only to see him staring at his phone wistfully. He immediately snapped the phone shut when he saw her, tucking it in his pocket. “Oh, you didn’t get the milk today?” She shook her head and told him that she wanted to try something new.
She found herself thinking about what happened earlier. Sometimes he seemed to be writing a text message, and maybe it was wishful thinking, but she hoped that the message would be addressed to her.
-
The next evening, she was riding her motorcycle back home again, but this time by herself. Along the way, she spotted a familiar bike. Taking her helmet off, she got down the bike. She climbed up the small hill, only to see Heeseung writing another text message… again.
“Oh, Sumida? I’m surprised you found me here. We didn’t see each other at the bike shed today.”
He’s so kind. I don’t deserve it.
They got on their motorbikes again, riding until they stopped at a red light. A huge construction lorry drove by, and it seemed to go slower than a snail’s pace.
“They say it goes at 5 kilometers per hour.”
Something in Heeseung dropped. “They say it falls at 5 centimeters per second.”
It started raining.
vi. now i realize that you were never looking at me.
Tap. Tap. He was writing yet another text message… to no one.
He wondered when he got this strange habit.
The next morning before school, it was finally clear enough for Sumida to surf again. She was finally in her zone.
At school during lunch, one of Sumida’s friends asked, “You’re looking extremely happy today, Sumida. Did something happen between you and Heeseung?” she said nothing, and just grinned, a light blush spreading across her cheeks.
“No way!” Her friends gasped in surprise. She decided not to tell them.
She was going to confess to Heeseung today.
Yet again, she pretended to run into him at the bike shed. She mustered up her courage, waving to him. She got the same packet of milk at the convenience store, and decided that it was the right time to tell him. Pulling on his shirt, she opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
“Is anything wrong?”
“No… it’s nothing. Sorry.”
He nodded and they got on their bikes, but Sumida’s bike seemed to have stopped working.
Heeseung noticed it and said, “We’ll leave the bikes here and repair it tomorrow. I’ll walk home with you.” She was about to refuse, but he had already started walking.
They walked side by side along the deserted path, not exchanging a single word.
I have to tell him… but how?
She looked down at her feet, tears starting to form in her eyes. She trailed behind him, the tears turning into sobs. Heeseung turned around, startled to see her suddenly crying. “Is everything okay?”
“Yes, it’s nothing…” She still continued sobbing. Why? Don’t be so nice to me…
The pair stood there, no words leaving their mouths except for sobs from Sumida. Suddenly, a loud roaring sound could be heard. As they turned to look at the source of the interruption, they spotted a missile being launched into the sky. It seemed to go higher and higher, and never stopped. Then, once it was all out of view, all that remained was a cloud of white smoke.
Sumida felt like she found the answer to everything.
She now knew why she had found Heeseung to be different from others, but at the same time, she finally realized that Heeseung was never really looking at her. That is why, on that day, she never confessed or said a word to him.
vii. because i will never be the one you desire.
Heeseung was kind. He was truly kind. But he was always looking far beyond her. He was looking far into the distance. She would never know what he was looking for.
She was sure she couldn’t give him what he truly wanted.
Like the missile blasted into the universe on that day, he would only be looking towards the unknown.
Today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year… he would always only look far beyond her.
But even today, tomorrow, next week, month, year, forever… she would only look at him. She would only be helplessly in love with him. She would only desire him.
Even if they magically got together somehow, she knew that she would never be the one who he wanted most. She would only be a backup plan. She would only be a mere replacement.
Because whatever he was searching for, whoever he seemed to be texting everyday, and whoever he wanted, that person would never be her. And she knew that, as much as she didn’t want to admit it. So she gave up.
She gave up trying to befriend him. She gave up trying to make him fall for her. She gave up hoping that he would somehow return her feelings.
She also hated him for giving him false hope, for being so kind to her, for comforting her all the time. However, she was thankful for him all the same.
It was time for her to stop trying.
Whoever you’re looking for, far beyond me, I hope you find them.
ACT TWO: the missile in the dark sky. END.
Tumblr media
ACT THREE: last night, i had a dream.
viii. what if i had turned my head back that day?
Click. Tap. The sound of a keyboard reverberated throughout the small one-room apartment. Heeseung was typing and working on a document for his workplace, just as his boss had instructed him to. When he was done, he snapped the lid of the laptop shut, leaning back in his chair. His neck and shoulders ached.
His phone rang, his girlfriend’s name on the caller ID. Deciding not to pick the phone up, he tells himself that he will break up with her later. Not now.
He decided to head out. Throwing on a brown jacket, he shut the door behind him. It was spring anyways, it wouldn’t be too cold.
Reaching the railway tracks, he walked past a girl. How funny. It was the same tracks as the one that they had promised to watch the cherry blossoms together at. And the girl... She seemed to recognise him. And he had recognized her. He gasped lightly, but never turned his head back. Once they were both on opposite sides of the railway, he stopped in his tracks.
If I turned back now, I have a strong feeling that she would turn back as well.
He slowly looked over his shoulder, and so did she, and-
Whoosh!
The train zoomed past them, obstructing their view of each other. Just like years before.
The train never seemed to end. He looked down to the floor.
After it had fully passed by, he lifted his head up again, slowly and expectantly.
She was gone.
ix. and the snow falls like cherry blossoms on a vibrant spring day.
Heeseung was walking home from yet another dreaded day at work. The sky was already dark.
Out of habit, Heeseung took his phone out, beginning to type a message, yet stopped just before he hit send. Who was this message addressed to?
Stuffing his phone back in the pocket of his coat, he noticed it.
Small flakes of white dancing down gracefully, one of them melting in his palm.
It had started to snow.
-
“(name), i really wish you’d stay til’ new year’s.”
“Mother, I’ll be seeing you in a month for the wedding anyways. It’s fine.”
“Alright then. Take care of him well, okay? Call us if you need anything.”
“I will.” (name) smiled as she boarded the train, waving to her parents.
-
The book wasn’t as interesting as she hoped it would be. Closing the book, she placed it neatly in her bag. Her engagement ring twinkled as it caught the sunlight.
She looked out of the window wistfully, as if she was searching for something far away in the distance.
Last night, I dreamt of something. Back when he and I were both still children. It’s probably because of the letter I found yesterday while looking through my old possessions.
-
Somewhere in his apartment, Heeseung held a cigarette in his hand. His phone rang again. Heading into his apartment from the small balcony, he stared blankly at the email. Speed-reading it, one of the sentences caught his eye.
“Even now, I still love you…” That’s what the girl he’d been with for 3 years said. Yet, he was sure that even if they had exchanged a thousand messages, their hearts wouldn’t have moved even a centimeter closer.
Because I’m still in love with her.
x. the cherry blossoms stir and fall again as the train passes by.
Over the past few years, Heeseung has had so many thoughts. He didn’t know what these disturbing feelings were about or where they had surfaced from, so he decided to drown himself in work. Then one day, he realized that his heart was withering, and there was nothing in it but pain. He had completely lost all his feelings.
That day, he resigned from his job.
Kicking off empty beer cans from his floor, he put on a coat and walked out into the streets. It was cooling, and not too chilly. Perfect.
He walked into the convenience store, the bell on the door chiming behind him. He picked up a magazine, the front cover of it being the missile that was launched a decade ago. The one that he saw with his own two eyes.
At the same time when he was reading the magazine, she was standing at the train station, ready to go back home for the wedding.
-
Last night, I had a dream.
A dream of long ago.
Within the dream, the two of us were still thirteen…
Standing across the vast field blanketed in snow as far as the eye could see.
In the distance, the lights shimmering in houses were set sparsely, far and wide.
All that was left upon the newly fallen snow were our footprints.
Just like that…
We wished, without hesitation, that one day…
The two of us would be able…
… to see the cherry blossoms together again.
The snow fell gently, cascading down like cherry blossoms from a sakura tree.

Just had some headcanons about Machi pop into my head that I wanted to share with yall. So we know this poor girl struggles with "perfect"/neat things right? Well I was thinking about some healthy coping mechanisms she could develop to replace the whole 'breaking property/living in a dump' thing & here's what I got so far -
1. She always tries to wear odd socks (unless she's invited somewhere nice)
2. Ayame & Mine help her find cool asymmetrical stuff to wear, how to make clashing colours/patterns work for her & teach her how to sew up her old clothes in a more "punk rock" way (after Yuki & Kakeru explain some of her issues with perfection)
3. Tohru gently points out that she dosn't have to tie her laces the same way on both shoes if she dosn't want to
4. Haru & Rin (awkwardly on her part) teach her the power of acessorising (ie. wearing only one earing, putting on an uneven amount of bracelets/rings/necklaces, adding paper clips of different sizes & colours to your clothing & Machi later ends up adding stuff like buttons to her outfits/belongings as well which Haru & Rin are tottally surppotive of despite thier difference in style) & hair/makeup which (thanks to Yuki's advice) they make sure to keep slightly messy (Kimi laughed at it at first until Momiji made her feel bad after he told her that Machi had gone to the bathroon & wiped off all the make up & undid the hair style so Kimi bought her some limited edition Mogeta merch, after asking for Yuki's advice, in apolgey & started referring to Machi's new hair/makeup style as "punk chic" whenever anyone tried to mock Machi about her new look)
5. her & Momiji go on a crazy tie dying adventure (much to Hatori's grumbling & Mayu's amusement)
6. Kormaki gets her into collecting second hand fridge magnets which she then later uses in her work (my version of post-serise Machi is an artist) once the magnetism finally wears off
7. Kagura teaches her how to fix up old plushies (Machi likes creating Mogeta inspired characters) & gives Machi all her old cat ones to work on (Machi descides not to ask why Yuki's cousin was seemingly once obssesd with orange cats because she looks rather embrassed & a little sad when she hands over her collection)
8. Kyo reluctantly teaches her how to cook a few simple dishes (Tohru comes over as well & Yuki insists her food is better but Machi prefers Kyo's simple style of presentation so it's eventually descided that Kyo & her will do the cooking & Tohru & Yuki will deal with the cleaning which Yuki agrees to becuse cleaning is still difficult for Machi but Kyo says it's actually because no matter how much Tohru tried to train him rat boy knows he would never be able to do anything in the kitchen but burn water)
9. Kakeru teaches her the skills of 'excessive badge & sticker decorating' as well as giving eachother fake tattoos (Kisa congratulates Hiro on not saying anything rude to Yuki's girlfriend about her appreance after they first meet her)
10. Cuts her hair short (she delibretly makes it very choppy) once she enters university, where the rules are less strict about your apprence (at least it is if your at art college), & she also regulary wears diffrent coloured wigs (her favourites being a dark red one & a rainbow one) whenever she wants to temporarily change her appearance (beacuse she didn't want to commit to just one look, still wanted to have the ability to quickly "become invisable" again & she heard from Kimi that exsseive hair die-ing could permantly destroy her hair & scalp) it takes her until she's 30 to try out shaving all her hair off (she worried she'd look sick/crazy or not feminine enough) & everyone's really surppotive (though Kimi dose cry a bit, Rin & Haru aren't there when her hair is being shaved & Kyo is a slightly confused as he'd always thought women liked having longer hair then guys) especially Ritsu (who's growing out thier hair again) & they all throw her a big party (Haru & Rin are there for the party bit just not the hair removal bit because it brought up some bad memories) where Kakeru films it & posts it (with Machi's permission) & they give her cut off hair to a charity chosen by all thier followers (despite her disbelief Machi has manged to gain a small group of loyal fans from all her art stuff & her apprences on her loved ones social media), Kakeru also later uploads a video where they help Machi rainbow dye her buzz cut, (she later explores many diffrent types of buzz cut patterns such as flowers & geometric shapes but, at Kimi's insistence, gets them done by a professional)
11. She recycles & D.Y.I's like crazy (Momiji started singing Do Re Mi from The Sound Of Music after she told him that her new dress was actually made from curtains & Yuki cried when she gave him a little rat plushie made from felt, after he came clean to her about the curse)
12. She almost never wears an apron while working on her art because she likes getting messy
13. When her & Yuki go out to eat she loves things like fondoe (both the chocolate & cheese kind), eat N mess & is genreually just a fan of finger food & it becomes a tradition between her & Yuki (& later Mutsuki) to go on a stroll through the park after thier meal & (if it's autumn) look for piles of leaves to jump in (Machi & Yuki also like playing a game where they try to look for the weirdest looking leaf to give eachother & whoever wins gets to pick what they'll eat for dinner that evening & the looser has to cook it, Mutsuki is the "impartial" judge)
14. Machi is amazing at scrapbooking & collarge making (Tohru is more of a dream journal kind of girl)
15. When it's Summer her, Yuki & Mutsuki go down to the beach to see who can find the weirdest looking rocks (the less impressive ones often get used in Machi's art work, the coolest ones Mutsuki gets to keep & any that are too perfect get tossed back in the ocean & Mutsuki likes to score the splashes they make on how big/loud they are)
16. She loves helping Yuki out with gardening for lots of reasons (it's therapeutic & she loves seeing Yuki happy) but she can't deny it's also just fun getting muddy
17. Machi, thanks to Kakeru, devolpes a love of paint ball (but instead of using guns they just throw the paint at eachother like in 10 Things I Hate About You because apparently the gun pellets actually hurt) & will bring it up as an activity idea to her loved ones any chanse she gets
18. Decorates as much of her flat (& later her home with Yuki & Mutsuki) with Mogeta merchandise, random things she collects & her own art work as a big fuck you to her bitch "you have 0 personality/hobbies or talents" of a mother
19. Kisa (happily) & Hiro (reluctantly) introduce Machi to the magic of glitter
20. Machi & Rin eventually become proper friends due to bonding over being abounded by their asshole parents & one of the things they like to do together is work on thier seprete art peices while listening to music (Machi dosn't do any of her "aggressive" art, like plate smashing, around Rin though thanks to Yuki & Haru warnings)
21. When stuff gets to be too much & none of thier other coping strategies are working (like watching Mogeta stoned- which Kisa, Tohru & Momiji do not partake in) Machi & Haru bond by going to rage rooms together to destroy shit & scream (Haru obviously dosn't want Rin around for any of that though so Momiji, Tohru, Kagura or Hana will often take the opportunity to hang out with her, one time Yuki offered & it wasn't bad but it was definitely awkward as they had never really hung out without Haru before & Haru teases her for ages afterwards about her ending up liking Yuki once she actually spent some time with him which, like the precious tsundere she is, Rin will forever deny)
22. (I actually made a whole seprete post about this ages ago but now it seems to have vanished so in case other Machi fans are unable to find it l'll add it here) on the days that it's supposed to snow but dosn't Yuki takes her (& later Mutsuki) skating so she can enjoy scratching up the perfectly smooth ice (they would have gone on double dates with Tohru & Kyo if Tohru wasn't freaked out at the idea of having blades on her shoes & Kyo hadn't claimed to "not trust" ice, he's dislike comes from all the times Kagura had forced him to ice skate with her on the lake near Kazuma's place in the winter when they were kids, so they would instead go with Haru & Momiji - they had thought about going with Haru x Rin & Kakeru x Kormaki once but he proudly revealed that he'd been banned from thier local ice rink years ago for trying "perfectly safe" Olympic level stunts in he's attempt to recreate one of he's favriote episodes of Power Rangers, much to he's fiancee's anger, & Machi reminded Yuki that though Haru & Kakeru were fine with eachother Rin isn't reall able to stand Kakeru for longer than 5 minuites)

Mid Year Book Freakout Tag!
I’m a bit late to this party… but I wrote this a few days ago when I wasn’t feeling 100% after getting my second Covid vaccine and took the entire day off. So I finally had the time to write this :)
Let me pull up my Goodreads real quick and have a look at the 33 books I have so far this year.
1. The Best Book of the Year So Far
Hmm, let’s see. I feel like it’s fair to give two answers to this one, because on the one hand, there is the book that qualifies as “the best” from a literary perspective (at least in my opinion) and that would be CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS by Sally Rooney. Definitely had its own style and felt… infused with a deeper meaning, at least to me. It was also very compelling. Personally, I couldn’t stop reading it. And I feel like it had a lot to say about modern-day relationships (romantic, platonic… all kinds really).
Then, there is the book that I personally enjoyed this most, and that was probably THE GIRLS ARE ALL SO NICE HERE by Laurie Elisabeth Flynn. It kind of felt like your standard thriller, but also not. While it was super suspenseful and fun to read, I also genuinely cared about the characters and loved the portrayal of toxic teen girls’ friendships and generally teenage cruelty in the context of wanting to be cool/to fit in. It made me reflect on a lot of things, so to me, it’s definitely more than a thriller that you forget right after reading it. And it also definitely qualifies as dark academia, and discovering a new DA book I love is always great! <3
2. Best Sequel of the Year So Far
Wow, I am NOT big on sequels. I have only read one this year, which is just further proof that I’m not very into book series and much prefer standalones. The only sequel I have read this year was also a very good one, though: MISTER IMPOSSIBLE by Maggie Stiefvater. Much anticipated by me and thankfully, I had a great time with it. :)
3. A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To
I’m going to go with MALIBU RISING by Taylor Jenkins Read! I was gifted this book by my boyfriend’s grandma for my birthday on June 29 (so sweet!) and I think I will read it next. I am very excited for this one!
4. Most Anticipated Release for Autumn/Winter
Two books I am VERY excited for are A LESSON IN VENGEANCE by Victoria Lee and IN MY DREAMS I HOLD A KNIFE by Ashley Winstead. I’m not even really sure why. I don’t know that much about either of them yet. But they just call to me, just like The Girls Are All So Nice Here did. And that one didn’t disappoint, so hopefully these two won’t either.
5. Your Biggest Disappointment of the Year So Far
Maybe THE GUEST LIST by Lucy Foley? I mean, it wasn’t awful. But I remember that I wasn’t impressed and had been expecting more somehow. Objectively the worst book I read this year would have to be THE SHARP EDGE OF A SNOWFLAKE by Sif Sigmarsdóttir, lol. But that one doesn’t count as the biggest disappointment, because I didn’t go in expecting that much. It was just an ebook that I bought for a low price at one point.
6. Your Biggest Surprise of the Year So Far
Definitely THE GIRLS I’VE BEEN by Tess Sharpe. I did not expect a YA thriller to be as intense and emotional and fun and just plain well-written as it was! Biggest positive surprise of the year so far, I think. :) I felt similarly surprised by  A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER by Holly Jackson. Another YA thriller (or mystery, I guess?) that was so much better than I had expected!
7. New Favourite Author
I’m going to have to say THE MOTHER by Tess Stimson. I was expecting it to be a semi-fun thriller without much depth to it, just easy entertainment, I suppose. I was extremely surprised by the emotional depth I encountered. The death at the heart of this story is that of an infant, but I was expecting the book to sort of gloss over how tragic that actually is. Instead, it leaned into the grief so much, I found myself absolutely shook? The book almost moved me to tears several times. The mystery was so intense, I kept guessing and guessing. At one point quite early on, I had the solution, but the author masterfully misdirected me from that again, so that the twist at the end came as the biggest shock! Yeah, I loved this so much more than I had ever expected! Well done, Tess Stimson!
8. Your Newest Favourite Character
I haven’t absolutely fallen in love with any new characters this year, but three that stand out to me (in the order I encountered them this year) are:
1) Pippa Fitz-Amobi from A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER by Holly Jackson
2) Katrina Hawkins from THE STARLESS SEA by Erin Morgenstern
3) Nora O’Malley from THE GIRLS I’VE BEEN by Tess Sharpe
9. Your Newest Fictional Crush
Umm… absolutely nothing comes to mind lmfao. Fictional crushes have become so rare for me!
10. A Book that Has Made You Cry
THE MOTHER almost made me cry, I think. Not sure if there were actual tears. CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS and NORMAL PEOPLE both (almost) moved me to tears several times. But I didn’t have any break-downs over books this year. At least not yet.
EDIT: Omg, omg, omg, I forgot A LITTLE LIFE! How the f did I forget about A LITTLE LIFE?! I broke down over this book several times. It was awful. Never before has a book made me suffer so much. I mean that. I didn’t just cry, the book also made me feel physically ill several times. Very well written, yes, but not one I can recommend in good conscience. This is not one of those instances of “You’ll cry, but you’ll love crying”, at least not for me. This is something I perhaps should have not put myself through. Because the experience overall was painful, first and foremost. Stay safe, kids. This one is… a lot.
11. A Book That Has Made You Happy
This is so sad to say, but none of the books I read this year gave me that warm, glowy feeling of pure comfort and happiness you get from books sometimes? Some passages of THE STARLESS SEA came the closest, I would say.
12. The Most Beautiful Book of the Year So Far
Again, I need to mention THE STARLESS SEA with the beautiful prose and imagery! <3 Also A LITTLE LIFE maybe? Beautifully written at times. Absolutely heart- and gut-wrenching at others.
13. Some Books You Need to Read Before 2021 Ends
Hahaha… so many. But I’ll pick out a few that I will likely finish until the year is over: MALIBU RISING, AN OCEAN OF MINUTES by Thea Lim (birthday present by a close friend! <3), THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS by Micah Nemerever (birthday present my dad gave me! <3) and THEY NEVER LEARN by Layne Fargo (bday present my godmother gave me! <3). You see, I am much more committed to reading books that were given to me rather than books I bought myself. So these have good chances of being finished in 2021. :)
14. Tag Two of Your Favourite Community Members
@books-and-cookies Have you answered these questions yet? And @augustinianseptember? Would REALLY love to read both of your answers! <3<3
