rant about my roommate
i try really really hard to be patient with her, because i know why she is the way she is. she grew up living with her mom, who is the type of person to yell at everyone to get out of the house, and go on a mad cleaning spree, and would get pissed if anyone did anything in a way she didnt like. because of this way of growing up, my roommate is absolutely awful at cleaning up after herself, because her mom would always do it. shes never lived alone, shes never been in an environment where she is forced to realize that all of the mess around her is hers. its easy to think, when you live with roommates, that a smaller percentage of the mess you see has been caused by you than is the reality. you forget who put what plate in the sink, or who took out the trash last, it makes sense. so i try really hard to be patient with her. i try to implant tidbits of life advice into her brain because she doesnt have a ton of common sense (she is very smart though). i try to teach her things like not putting parchment paper in the oven, using thin glass on the stove will lead to boiling hot broken glass everywhere, leaving the door open to the balcony overnight lets bugs in, etc. but shes really pissing me off today especially. this morning i heard her break something glass (olive oil bottle) and my first thought was, oh shit, im going to end up cleaning this up, and i think im right. i had to close the balcony door that she left open, i had to clean up ash from incense that she burned without using an incense holder (she put it in my plant >:-/ ) that she just let drop on our coffee table, and i almost fell on my ass from the olive oil that she didnt bother actually cleaning up. she cleaned up the pool of it, but she didnt bother to wipe anything down to make it not slick as shit. so now my floor is slippery, which i would be surprised if she actually bothered to do something about. also she didnt even bother to pick up the towel she used to wipe it up off from the floor. side note, on saturday i cleaned the kitchen after doing a good bit of baking, loaded the dishwasher, and left a few things in the sink that wouldn't fit. in the time it took for the dishwasher to finish washing the dishes i had in there, she managed to completely fill the rest of our 2 basin sink with dishes. i left a sticky note with a ? on it on the towel on the floor, because what the hell????? and she put it on the sink and added an arrow pointing at the dishes from when i cooked last. i cant believe that she has the gall and audacity to get on my ass for 1/2 a sink of dishes after i have cleaned up after her nasty ass time and time again. i cant count how many dishes ive pulled out of the sink, how many pieces of silverwear ive had to pick up off of the floor, pieces of produce that ive picked up off the floor that she doesnt bother to do anything about after they fall when shes cooking, or how many times i have had to pile up her shit into one corner because she treats our living room like an extension of her room and leaves her school stuff, clothes, and shoes on the couch. i hardly even end up cooking because our kitchen is constantly nasty. i commend her for cooking so much for herself, but i want to bash her head against a rock becuase of her piss poor ability to realize and give a shit about the fact that she is sharing a living space with another person. i know that to her im probably a neat freak, but im really not. im not above leaving dishes in the sink, or leaving spills on the counter when i really just cant be fucked to do it, but i dont leave my spaces gross because i dont walk around with my eyes closed pretending like the trail of gross i leave behind me doesnt exist. fuck. i dont feel like im being unreasonable, like holy shit realize other people exist and are affected by your actions

(read chapter 4 here)
“I think you’re very pretty.”
I think you’re very pretty?
Fuck. Shit.
“I-I-I mean,” Levi feels his throat tighten and cheeks set ablaze, “You’re very, uh, very beautiful.” He says it because it’s true, and the truth is what Levi relies on when his brain is short-circuiting. You’re more than pretty, more than something as trivial as very pretty, you’re gorgeous and smart and funny and it makes his palms sweat. Recently, you’ve been everywhere: in his bed, in his arms, in the periphery of his life even outside of the apartment. It’s overwhelming, this is overwhelming, how his hands are on you and how you’re looking up at him with insecure, anticipatory eyes. They’re glassy and red-rimmed, pupils blown to saucers.
Oh. That’s right, she’s high.
Levi lets his hand drop from the top of your head. He tries to move his other hand away from your cheek, but you grasp his wrist to keep it there. He can feel his own pulse fluttering under your fingertips.
“Very beautiful?” It’s soft, hopeful.
He forces himself not to retract the statement (because it’s true) out of self-preservation.
“Very beautiful, kid.” He can say it without stuttering this time. It’s important that you believe him, and it’s equally important that this is as far as it goes.
You close your eyes against the pet name and turn your face into his palm for a split second, press a swift kiss to it and then drop your hand to your lap. His heart stutters. He drops his hand, too.
“Thank you,” the words fall past your lips, careful and distant, as he takes a step back.
He needs some space. To get his head on straight, to scream into a pillow, to talk some sense into himself. Can’t risk this, not with you, not with you.
“Your, um, your pajamas,” he points to the end of the bed where they’re sitting in a neat pile, then turns tail and strides out of your room, shutting the door behind him.
In his room, his jelly legs finally give out and he flops onto his bed.
Fucking hell.
“Do you think I’m pretty?”
What kind of question is that? Do you not think you’re pretty? Do you care if he, specifically, thinks you’re pretty, or was it intended more generally? Very pretty, very beautiful. What does that even mean?
Levi may not be eloquent in the least, may not know how to confess that you make his every breath burn in his chest, but he does know how to paint. He stands up, wiping sweaty palms on his flannel pants and examining the painting on his easel. His mom stares back, her eyes sparkling, her hair tumbling over one shoulder in ebony waves. It had taken him the last few days to get the curls just right, and when he added the last highlights of shine, it’d finally felt complete.
“Sorry, mama,” he murmurs as he lifts her to set her against the wall under the window.
A new canvas procured from his closet finds its place on the easel. He sifts through his supply drawers for a moment, setting paints and brushes and charcoal neatly on his desk.
He takes a deep breath, situates himself in his wheelie chair, and leans forward to start sketching.
It’s 5 AM when you start screaming in a long, shuddering cry, causing Levi to jolt up in his seat, paintbrush poised over your left temple. It breaks off into sobs that make his gut twist and hands clench. A long moment, then you’re letting out another keening wail and Levi is out of his seat. Paint splatters from the brush where he drops it on his desk and his chair rolls back as he runs, ripping doors open and narrowly avoiding furniture in the dark.
You’re sprawled out, thrashing on the bed, sheets tangled with your legs. Levi sits on the edge of your bed, brows pinched in worry, and reaches for your shoulders. This is okay — he can touch you when you ask for his help. When you whimper and reach for him in your sleep, he can pull you close and smooth a hand across the planes of your back. It’s when you’re looking at him, all trusting and expectant for something, that he’s unsure.
He says your name, low and urgent, once, twice, before your eyes open mid-sob. They’re wide and terrified, your jaw tight, muscles clenched. “It’s me, kid, it’s just me,” he intones, “It was just a dream, you’re safe, it’s just me.”
Your heaving chest slows for a second, hitches somewhere in your sternum, and then you’re launching yourself forward and into him. He catches you there, steady against his chest.
“Breathe.” He sets an example with his own deep breaths.
It’s a long minute before he feels you relax at all, before he feels you sigh against his neck. Your arms are tight around his middle and you must be stronger than you look because after a while it starts to pinch. He doesn’t mind, though, just traces patterns on your back and stares at the pale wall.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
He feels you shake your head.
“Do you want to go back to sleep?”
You hesitate before you whisper, “Only if you stay.”
Levi thinks about the wet paintbrush currently drying to his desk. He thinks about the mess of clothes on your floor. He thinks of the half-finished painting of you in his room. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
You pull back, and he gets a look at your face in the near-dark. Your eyes are still acutely haunted, but they’ve regained awareness. He lets you take a moment to wipe at your cheeks as he reaches to gently disentangle the sheets and spread them more carefully over your legs.
He looks up at you again to catch your sad eyes with his. Your head is tilted quizzically, knowingly, sympathetically all at once as though he were the one who just woke up screaming. It makes him itch.
“What’s that look for?” he grumbles, toeing his slippers off and tucking them under your bed.
“Nothing,” you hum. “Come here, please.”
He blinks at you for a second. That’s my line. But he goes, crawling into bed with you and slipping under the covers. He lets you tug his arm gently so that he’s on your chest. He gets comfortable there, one arm thrown over your waist and head rested over your heart. Your own arms find a home cautiously around him. You exhale with the grounding pressure of his body on yours and let your mind sink into calm release.
The knock on your door breaks your attention from your laptop. You sigh, finish typing your sentence, and push your blue light glasses up your nose before standing up to answer it.
You’re not expecting anyone, but maybe Levi is. He’s been holed up in his room all morning, Chopin drifting lazily under his door, probably studying. Like you’ve been trying to. The second series of knocks on your door makes you jog the last few steps to pull it open.
“Hi—” the greeting dies in your throat when you see who’s standing there.
“Hi,” Annie says. She’s standing, nonchalant as ever, in her winter parka and leggings, holding two to-go cups and a pastry bag.
“What?” It’s a breathless question, genuinely confused. It doesn’t harbor the animosity you would expect — you’re not sure you can feel anything other than queasy right now.
“I got your voicemail.”
You blink in confusion. She rolls her eyes and thrusts the to-go cups at you with a brief “hold these” before reaching into her pocket for her phone. You just stare at her while she taps and scrolls for a minute. She looks the same as before you stopped speaking: blonde hair tucked into a bun at the back of her head and hoodie peeking out of the collar of her jacket. Maybe a little more tired, though Annie always seemed to be tired.
She holds up her phone for you to hear as a voicemail starts playing and, to your further shock, your own tinny voice spills out. It sounds like you’re crying, and slightly muffled.
“Annie, hi, um, I know it’s late but I couldn’t think of anyone else to call, I just,” sniffle, “I know we’re not talking and I’m still mad at you, like REALLY MAD, okay? But I couldn’t think of who else to call and long story short I think I’m in love with Levi and he might’ve just rejected me but I just couldn’t tell—”
“Okay, okay, I get it,” you cut in across your own voice, stepping into the hall with her and toeing the door almost shut behind you. She stops the voicemail. “But why are you here?” You know why she’s here — Annie never backs down from anything, and you had started the conversation, even if you’d been drunk and high and half asleep and you don’t really remember doing it.
“You called, here I am. That’s what best friends do.” Her tone is even.
“Not best friends who fuck their best friends’ boyfriends,” you snap, anger finally bursting from your stomach and into your throat.
She closes her eyes impatiently, sighs, then looks at you again not quite pleadingly.
“Look, if you want me to leave, I’ll leave. But I’m here now and there’s more to the story that you aren’t aware of.”
“What else could there possibly be?”
“Let’s go for a walk and I’ll tell you,” she offers, then holds up the pastry bag. “I brought coffee and donuts. They’re jelly.”
Jelly donuts are your favorite.
You look down at the cups in your hand. You look back at her steady blue gaze. More to the story.
“Fine.” You turn and kick the door open a little too harshly. “Just let me get dressed.”
She follows you in, even though you don’t extend an invitation, and closes the door softly. You put the cups down on the coffee table and watch her sit in her usual spot on the couch to wait for you out of the corner of your eye. You scowl but say nothing.
It only takes you a minute to shuck off to pajamas and pull on jeans, a sweatshirt, and boots. You don’t bother with a bra.
You knock lightly on Levi’s door and call through, “I’m going for a walk, so make sure to lock up if you leave. I have my keys.” You jingle them as evidence and he grunts in acknowledgment. “Let’s go,” you turn and address Annie, who stands.
The walk down your street to the river is short and habitual, your feet carrying you while your mind races. You can feel the anger and hurt, visceral and stabbing, in your chest. But there’s also something tender there, too, something that acknowledges how you missed your best friend. Something that screams at you to tackle her to the ground and feel her stoic comfort. Instead, you shove your hands deeper into the pockets of Eren’s jacket and kick a pebble, sending it skidding down the sidewalk.
The pair of you reach the walking bridge over the river and pause at the railing. The sky is overcast, threatening a snowstorm. A car beeps downtown, reaching you distantly. Annie hands you a coffee and a donut. You lean against the railing and avoid her gaze.
“So. You wanted to talk. Talk.” You bite into the donut.
She sighs through her nose. “I know what you saw. We… we did kiss, but we didn’t do anything else. We never had sex.”
“Hmm.” A sip of coffee.
“I know you have no reason to believe me, but it’s the truth. I’m guessing you didn’t exactly listen to Reiner when you broke up with him?”
“I didn’t have time for his bullshit excuses.”
She breaks off a bit of her donut and stares at it contemplatively for a moment, “I know you don’t owe either of us anything, and this isn’t meant as an excuse, but will you listen to why, at least?”
You press your lips together, sneak a look into her devastatingly blue eyes, and nod. What harm can it do? And you have to admit there’s a large part of you that’s been wondering at the why, even if you’ve refused to hear it.
“Okay. Tell me why.”
She takes a deep breath and leans her elbows on the railing before starting to speak, low and pensive.
“I’ve known Reiner and Bertholdt a long time, since we were kids. We’ve always been this… this odd group. You wouldn’t think we were close if you didn’t know us. But it wasn’t always just us.” She pauses, looking distant. “Do you know Porco Galliard?”
Galliard… “He’s a sophomore on the lacrosse team, right?”
“Yeah. Do you know what happened to his brother?”
“He has a brother?”
“Had. Marcel. He was a year older than us but somehow ended up in our little group. And a couple of years ago, senior year of high school, we were all in a car accident. He was home on winter break and we’d all had a little too much to drink, and we convinced him to take us to Denny’s for midnight milkshakes. And, well, there was a winter storm coming in and it’d been freezing rain that week, and we crashed. Marcel died. It was… I hadn’t…” She pauses, tilting her head back to the sky, blinking away tears. “It was horrible.”
Your eyes have gone wide, cast downriver. You don’t know what you’d expected when you walked down here, but it certainly wasn’t this. It wasn’t Annie, only rivaled in her stoicism by Levi, choking back tears and wiping snot from her nose.
“Hey,” you start, voice gentler than it’s been all day. “You don’t have to—”
“No, no, I want to, just... give me a second,” she interjects, wringing out a hand. She takes a deep, purposeful breath.
“Okay,” you whisper, looking back out across the water.
“It, uh, it hit us all really hard, brought us really close together. That’s why we all ended up at school here, actually. It kinda made us realize that, like, time is limited, you know? We don’t have forever. And Bertl, he…” she smiles, watery and reminiscent. “When he asked me out, it felt like a long time coming. It was just about perfect. He felt safe and like home, and… well, you know how in love we were. But I could see that it alienated Rei, at least a bit. He tried not to show it, but I could tell he felt like a third wheel. He was already drifting away from us, still struggling with all this guilt.”
Your breath catches in your throat. That’s a familiar feeling. Guilt. And yet, you’d never noticed it in Reiner, apparently never got close enough to shine a flashlight into his darkest shadows. He’d always seemed so… sunshiney. You clearly hadn’t given him enough credit to dislodge the aura of jock frat boy he projects so brightly.
Soft dough squishes under your fingertips where you’ve resorted to playing with your food instead of eating it as Annie continues.
“And then he met you and fell in love so fast. I was so relieved, I mean, you and I were roommates and it was just perfect, right?” You look at her and see a flicker of hopefulness still there. “I thought maybe you two getting together would bring him back to us, that maybe we’d be alright after all. And at first, it did. But then you moved off campus for sophomore year and he started drifting away again, though he was at least anchored to you, this time. It scared me, it really did.”
She kicks the bottom of the railing lazily, as if to expend the sadness there rather than in her words. The first fat flakes of snow drift down around you. One dances away on your exhale.
“He’s so withdrawn, sometimes, in his own head, and I never know how to reach him there. I didn’t know if he had told you about Marcel, or anything, so I couldn’t go through you. I don’t… I didn’t know what to do, so I just... let it fester. That night, when we kissed, I hadn’t seen him physically for a month. It hurt.”
She looks at you imploringly, like the weight of everything she’s saying lies on deep hurt. You can relate to feeling as though there’s nothing but hurt and guilt and drifting.
“So I figured out where he was from his Snapchat story, abandoned my group project, and went over there to see him. I didn’t know what I’d say or do when I got there, just that I had to get him back, somehow. He was already plastered, you know how he gets, and he wasn’t listening to me, so I just… kissed him. I don’t know what I was thinking, I didn’t know you were there, I didn’t even know you saw until he called me the next day after you broke up with him to chew me out.
“So, long story short,” her voice breaks on a mournful, almost hysterical laugh, “I fucked up the three most important relationships to me in one night because I couldn’t use my words.” She wipes at wet cheeks, not looking at you. “So, um. Yeah, that’s the why, I guess. I don’t expect you to forgive me, or him, but I just… I needed you to know. It wasn’t like, this elaborate affair.”
You aren’t sure how to right your brain from the way it’s tilted off kilter. It’s so much, so different from what you’d built up in your head. There’s no conspiracy, no grand intention to break you.
Even with all this new information, what stupidly slips out first is, “Did he kiss you back?” You blanch, turn to her with wide eyes, “Sorry, that’s not exactly im—”
“No, it’s fine,” she meets your eyes. “He did kiss me back.”
“Oh. Okay, um…” you trail off, bite your lip. You don’t know what exactly to say. Your skin is tight with the urge to forgive her immediately and wholly, but logic holds you back. Now that you know the truth, you need time to heal and get some perspective. You straighten up from where you’d been slouching against the railing. “Okay. You’ve been honest, so I will be, too.”
She stands up fully as well, facing you with one hand on the railing.
“I don’t know how I feel right now,” you start. “I think I need some time and perspective. But, I… I can see now where I went wrong, too. I assumed the worst, didn’t let any communication happen.” You swallow down the lump in your throat threatening to choke your voice. “And, I wasn’t there for Rei like I should have been. I had no idea — no idea! — what he was going through.”
“Well, he didn’t exactly tell you—”
“And why is that?” Your voice breaks, squeaks with the question. “Did he feel like he couldn’t confide in me? Did I make it too much about me and my trauma? I wasn’t exactly shy about telling him my shit.” You take a long draw of coffee. “Anyway. I should probably talk to him, shouldn’t I?”
She nods. “He’d like that.”
You’re both quiet for a moment, watching the sparse snow flurry around you. Annie finally starts eating her donut.
“I’ve missed you,” you confess into the storm. “A lot.”
“I missed you, too.”
Your chest aches with both the cold air and the conflicting feelings of relief and regret.
“Why, uh… why didn’t you tell me all that stuff about Marcel?”
She leans on the railing again, takes a sip of coffee before answering. “I was still working through it. Still am, rather. I didn’t know how to bring it up, or that it was relevant.”
You hum, nodding. “I get that.”
There’s another silence, but it feels lighter, less charged. There are still questions bouncing around your mind, but you decide it’s better to process through them on your own rather than blurting out something stupid. Perspective.
“So,” she shoots you a look under blonde eyelashes, “what’s this about you being in love with Levi?”
“Aw, shit,” you laugh, leaning your elbows back on the railing and giving her an imploring look. “It really snuck up on me.”
“Is that so? Can’t say I’m shocked.” Her tone is dry, a little amused around the last bite of jelly donut. She wipes her fingers on her leggings and faces you. “And you think he rejected you.”
“Well, I…” you cringe, thinking back to last night. “He called me very beautiful.”
“Doesn’t sound like a rejection.”
“It was the way he said it! Like it physically hurt him to admit, and then he just ran out of the room,” you whine, scrubbing a hand down your face.
“I think that’s just his emotional constipation.”
You look at her sharply, mouth agape, to catch her eyes dancing and the corner of her lip curling upward slightly. “Annie!”
“What? I’m right.” She finishes off her coffee, tilting back the cup to catch the last dregs of it. “He likes you, or he’s an idiot if he doesn’t.”
You narrow your eyes in doubt, mirroring her half-smile. “Hmm. We’ll see.”
“Yes,” she promises, crumpling up the pastry bag in her fist and stuffing it in her pocket. “We will.”

I Got Everything I wanted...
Tumblr media
Episode 1: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience...
Pairing: Vision x Male Reader
Taglist: N/A
‼️Authors Note‼️: I'm finally at a point where I can write this story. I know that It is long overdue, so I hope this can make up for it. This story is going to be breaking the 4th wall a lot since they tend to do that in the actual show. Also, please let me know in my Inbox/Askbox if you would like to be tagged every time I upload a story to this series. While reading this, you may realize that it seems rushed, and that's because it was. I wanted to put this out as soon as I possibly could. Also since you guys voted that I just divide it up into parts for you to read. I will be uploading part 2 whenever I am able to.
Summary: (Male Name) and Vision struggle to conceal their powers during dinner with Vision's boss and his wife
Time Period: 1956 (So everything in this chapter is going to be colorless and in black and white)
Word count: 4k+
Word Key:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever dreamed of living the life you always wanted? Have you ever dreamed of something so bad to the point where you would do anything to get it. Have you ever dreamed of something so bad to the point where all of your care for others went out the window? Have you ever dreamed of wanting something so bad to the point where you would stop anyone who gets in your way.
"(Male Name), I love you so much. Please don't do this, cant you see that everyone is hurting, that everyone is in so much pain?"
"I'm sorry Vision, but I can't. I can't loose you...not again. I never meant for things to be this way, but now I can't go back. Not without you"
---REWIND MANY EPISODES BACK---
For a second, everything is black. The TV clicks on and a burst of grey static illuminates the screen. Everything is black and white, not a single drop of color is in the area. A happily little tune starts playing as a colorless 1956 Buick Special drives up a tiny hill and back down past a sign which says 'Speed Limit 35'. The camera angle changes to the back of the car, showing a banner above the license plate, 'Just Married'. Next, the camera cuts to us, (Male Name) and Vision, newlywed husbands.
It finally happened, we finally got married! Both of us turn take a quick look and smile at each other with nothing but love and glee, it seemed like nothing could go wrong in this moment.
🎵Oh~
A newlywed couple just moved into town,
A regular husband and husband,🎵
Vision turns his head back to the road and continues driving until we turn down a happy little neighborhood. Each house on the street has a pattern of different color greys with black roofs, their yards decorated with equally bland colorless flowers and grass. Children playing outside, and adults chatting with one another while they tend to their gardens, or while walking their dogs. Everyone is just so cheery and happy, even the mailman waves at us as we pass him. Everything is exactly the way it's supposed to be, perfect.
🎵Who left the big city,
To find a quiet life,
(Male Name)Vision!🎵
Vision drives into the driveway of our new home. We quickly hop out of the car and approach the house, but before we walk in I take notice of the 'For Sale' sign still in the yard. I quickly flick my hand and use my magic to change the sign to 'Sold'. After that I dust my hands off with a proud smile on my face as Vision scoops me in his arms bridal style, opens the front door, and carries me inside. I flick my wrist again and the front door closes and locks as we both move to the Livingroom of our already decorated 2 story home.
🎵He's a magical boy,
In a small town locale
And a hubby who's part machine,
How will this duo fit in and pull through?🎵
Once Vision puts me back on my feet, we start swaying with the jingle playing in the background while title cards pop up of written words that I don't care to read right now since I'm too busy enjoying this happy moment with my new husband. Vision then gives me a little twirl before wrapping his arms around my waist as we both dip into a loving heartfelt kiss.
🎵Oh, by sharing a love,
Like you've never seen
(Male Name)Vision!🎵
---SCENE CHANGE---
The scene suddenly changes as the lights flick on and cameras start rolling. You start the scene off by walking into the kitchen and start making your way to one of the grey drawers next to the oven and you grab one of your favorite aprons. Humming a little tune, you wrap the white cloth around your waist and start observing the kitchen to see what needs to be picked up or cleaned. Deciding to work on putting up the dishes, you raise your hand and the newly cleaned plates start levitating off of the counters and float off to the display racks, you then raise your other hand and a dark colored dish cloth floats out of the cabinet and it begins drying a glass cup. You then turn your back to the cup to observe if it had been cleaned good enough, suddenly you jump as a loud crash echoes through out the kitchen. Turn to see what the problem is, you only to find Vision looking up from today's news paper and glances at the shattered plate at the ground while a laughing crown erupts out of nowhere.
"My husband and his flying saucers" He says in his thick English accent (or is it British🤔), with a joking tone.
"My husband and his indestructible head" I reply back in the same tone as another laugh erupts from the crowd.
He then folds his newspaper and walked over to your direction, giving you a kiss on the cheek when he arrived, causing you to chuckle while twirling your finger, making the plate form back to it's original round shape before it floats off to it's designated spot.
"Vision, honey, what do you say to silver dollar pancakes, crispy hash browns, bacon, eggs, freshly squeezed orang juice and black coffee?" You say while walking over to the refrigerator, opening it and bending down, getting ready to grab out everything needed to make the meal for him.
"I'd say 'Oh, I don't eat food' " He says smiling at me, while the crown laughs again.
You look inside the fridge and hum to yourself in surprise while putting all the pieces together in your head before saying "Well, that explains the empty refrigerator then"
"(Male Name), my darling. Is there something special about today?"
"Well, I know the apron is a bit much dear, but I'm doing my best to blend in and have the 'Perfect House Husband' look." You say walking to meet him, assuming he's talking about the apron.
"No no, you don't have to try, you already are the perfect house husband." He says as he lightly grabs your chin with his pointer finger and thumb and lightly giving you a 'boop' on the nose. "But I was referring to the calendar. Someone's drawn a heart right above today's date." You then looked at him as you cluelessly try to figure out what he's talking about, so he puts his hands on your shoulders and turns you around to face the calendar behind you and he rests his chin on your head as you both look at the heart.
Trying to act like you know what day it is, you say "Well...d..dont tell me you've forgotten Vis?"
"Oh silly (y/n), I'm incapable of forgetfulness. I remember everything. That's not an exaggeration. In fact, I'm even incapable of exaggeration" He rambles boastfully.
"Hmm, well then if that's true, then maybe you can tell me what's so important about today's date"
He pauses for a second and thinks before he blows a slow puff of air out of his mouth, then deciding on saying "Uhhh...what was the question again? Oh well, no matter, perhaps you've forgotten yourself"
"Me? Heavens, no, haha. I've been so looking forward to it."
You both have actually been looking forward to day. Today you are celebrating...The first time you...uhhh...have ever celebrated this occasion before. It's a special day indeed, perhaps an evening?...of great significance?...to you both, naturally.. obviously...exactly! Well done for the both of you.
You two ramble on for a few more minutes trying to drill the other into spilling on what was so special about today, but you two couldn't since you were both obviously unknowing about it, then Vision remembered something.
"Well, sorry darling, that's me off to work, then." Vison says fixing his grey suit jacket and grabbing his suitcase walking to the front door. You quickly grab his hat hanging on the coat rack and place it on his head, fixing it to make it look straight.
"Also don't forget-"
"(Male Name), my dear how many times do I have to tell you I don't forg- oh you mean my face right?"
You nod letting him know that was what you were getting at. The audience laughs again as he quickly shakes his head and his face and hands transform from cold metal to warm flesh. Vision then puts his palm to his face and pretends to blow you a kiss, while you play along and pretend to catch it and put it over your heart.
Once he leaves out the door, you lock it a return to the kitchen, and make your way to the calendar, chewing on your polished nails (if you don't want nail polish then skip that part) as you try to remember the symbolism of the heart. Not even a second later your thoughts get interrupted as a loud knock at the door startles you back to 'reality'.
Going to go see who it is, you push the door that separates the living room and the kitchen, closer to the knocking. You quickly open the door and see a woman with a dark plaid dress and a styled black hairdo holding a grey plant in a white pot.
"Oh hello, dear. I'm Agnes, your neighbor to the right. My right, not yours" She says in a sing-song tone as she uninvitedly makes her way into the house. The eruption of cackles echo as you look at her in confusion as to why she decided to step inside, but decided to keep a calm attitude and not say anything about it.
"Forgive me for not stopping by sooner to welcome you to the block. My mother-in-law was in town...so I wasn't!" she says laughing with the audience once more as her dress sways with her movements. She rushes the potted plant into your arms and you smile and take it as she makes her way into the living room to continue her snooping. "So what's your name? Where are you from? And most importantly how's your bridge game, hon?" She says not loosing a single breath, and of course not giving you time to answer in between questions.
"Umm...Well I'm (Male Name)" You say reaching your hand out to shake hers
"(Male Name)? Charmed!" She joyfully says and returns the gesture.
"Golly, you sure do settle fast! Yes sir you did indeed! Did you use a moving company?"
"Why I sure did. Those boxes don't move themselves." The audience laughs as your inside joke, because let's be honest, the boxes did move themselves since you used your magic to decorate everything. (Damn (Male Name), you really are a powerful sum' bitch)
'"So (Male Name), what's a single boy like you doing rattling around this big house?" She says siting on the couch.
You laugh to yourself and dreamily look at the finger your ring should be on that Vision gave you to claim you as his, (He liked it so he put a ring on it.....sorry...anyways) but paused as it wasn't there. That's not right, because you could have sworn that it was there when you created this rea-
"Oh no, I'm not single I-"
"Well I don't see a ring
"Well I can promise you, I am indeed married...To a man. A human one and tall too! A a matter of fact, he'll be home later tonight for a special occasion just the two of us." You say putting emphasis on 'occasion' with a wink.
"Oh is it somebody's birthday? A holiday?" Agnes questions bouncing up and down in the couch with her legs crossed like a 'proper lady'.
"Well, no and no"
"An anniversary then?"
"Ye-uhh...yes, Its our anniversary!" You shout, finally able to remember what that heart meant.
Agnes waves you over to come sit on the couch with her and you obey, sitting down she grabs and rests both sets of you two's clasped hands on your apron.
"Sooo...tell me, how many years" She asks letting out a little squeal.
"Well..uhhh..it...it uh feels like we've always been together"
"You lucky man-" She shakes her head remembering about her own husband "-the only way Ralph would remember our anniversary is if there was a beer names June 2nd." She chuckles as the audience laughs from nowhere again. "So what do you have planned?"
"How do you mean?" You questioned her. I mean you never really did have time to come up with anything since you just realized, or assumed, what today was.
"For your special night, (Male Name)! A young boy like yourself doesn't have to do much, but it's still fun to set the scene. Say-" she says standing up to slowly make her way to the door "-I was just reading a crackerjack magazine article called 'How To Treat Your Husband To Keep Your Husband', and let me tell you somethin'...what Ralph could really use is, 'How to Goose Your Wife So You Don't Loose Your Your Wife'. She kidd's as her and the audience laugh. You look at her and shake your head trying to hold back your own laughter. "Hang on, I'll go grab it and we can start planning. Oh, this is gonna be a gas!" She shouts running to the door so she can leave and run to her house.
-----Time Skip---
Both Agnes and you are back on the couch, looking through her magazines trying to find ideas for the anniversary dinner you planned for you and Vision to share, when out of nowhere, the phone started ringing interrupting you two. You got up and rushed over to it hoping you don't miss the unknown caller, you pick it up and put it to your ear and then start talking.
"Vision residence how may I help you"
"(Male Name), darling I-"
"Vision, my dearest husband. How are you sweetheart?" You say cutting him off from his obviously panicked and frantic voice. I mean come on, you are just excited to hear your husband's voice after a hours of him being gone.
"Listen about tonight-"
You cut him off again, already knowing that he was going to talk about the anniversary. "Don't worry, dear, I have everything under complete control"
"Oh, well, that is a relief. I must confess, I'm really rather nervous" He says over the phone.
"Nervous? Whatever for?" You question.
"Well, you know, darling, I still get a little tongue-tied."
The audience coo's and aww's at how a dust of grey creeps up on your (dark grey/grey) cheeks. "Vis, after all this time..." you giggle out.
"There's a lot riding on this (Male Name)! If tonight doesn't go just so, I think this could be the end.
'Wait what' you think to yourself
"Well, it's just one night. There's no need to get dramatic." You say in a worried tone as you grasp your now queasy stomach.
Vision's tone begins to get more serious as the conversation continues in his attempt to express how important this is to you. "Look, I think the best course of action is to impress the wife."
"Well, first, I think you mean husband. And secondly I also think the best course of action is to impress the other husband too." You look over and give Agnes a thumbs up and a wink in her direction, and she does the same while sipping her martini.
"Glad to know we're both on the same page, love. Until tonight, then, my sweet little husband" Vision says making two smooching noises through the phone to you.
"Until tonight...my robotic husband" You return, whispering the last part so Agnes doesn't hear you. She couldn't hear you anyways, being too busy sipping her drink and flipping through the pages. You finally gently put the phone on the hook and return to the couch.
---Time Skip, Later Tonight---
Before Vision made it home, you set the big dining table that was next to the living room and tossed colorless silk scarfs on all of the laps in the room to set the mood and made your way to the bedroom to get dressed to surprise him for when he gets home. When you heard the door open and heard his voice, you tip toed your way out of the bedroom and into the living room, dressed a long fluffy white lingerie robe with white fur that wrapped around the arms of it which was trailing behind you, exposing both of your (dark grey/grey) legs. You then went all the way to Vision's black silhouette and gently wrapped your hands around his eyes, causing him to jump form the sudden contact.
The audience laughed again as they know your mistake. 'Where the hell is that laughing coming from, and whey is it happening right now of all times?' you thought to yourself in confusion.
"Guess who~" you seductively whispered to your husbands.
Suddenly the lights turn on and you hear Vision's voice that was filled with a mix of shock, embarrassment, and irritation at your recklessness. "(MALE NAME) WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"
You gasp and look in his direction. "Vision? What are you-" then it hit's you, if Vision is right there, then who's-
"Oh! Oh my stars, I'm so sorry!" You say to the man you mistook for your husband. You quickly uncover his eyes and stumble away from him as he stares at you in shock. Then you look down at your attire and try to cover your exposed leg as much as possible.
"What is the meaning of this!" The bald headed mad says appalled, as his wife stands behind him looking around cluelessly.
Vision interrupts with his stammering voice just as confused as everyone else. "Well..uh yeah (Male Name) what is the meaning of-" Suddenly it hits him and he tries to comes up with an excuse off the top of his head. "-Oh, the meaning of it! You want to know the meaning of it...and...the meaning of it is...that this is the tradition of (Random Foreign Country/Continent) greeting of hospitality. Uhh...guess who???" Vision says as he runs behind you and overs your eyes.
"Oh is that my host being me?" You say playing along.
"It certainly is, darling. Lovely to make your acquaintance" Vision says vigorously shaking your hand. "See i forgot to tell you my husband is from (Random Foreign Country/Continent)" he giggles along with the audience.
"Oh, how exotic!" The man's wife cheerfully laughs.
"I never knew such a place as that existed" He says in a dark yet serious tone.
"Oh hush Author, have you no culture. Oh and the robe, I absolutely love it!" His wife replies trying to lighten up the awkward mood.
"Thank you so much ma'am-" you march through the living room and snatch off the silk scarves from all the lamps and tightly grab Vision's hand. "-Can I just see you in the kitchen for a moment, sweetheart?"
You both then slam your way through the kitchen door and it swings closed behind you, leaving Vision's boss and his wife behind as they sit down on the couch and patiently (more like impatiently on Arthur's end) wait for your return. You then turn around and look at each other before throwing questions.
"Who are those people?!"
"What are you wearing!?"
"Why are they here?"
"What are you wearing!?" Vision questions again boldly
"Well, it's out anniversary, that's why I'm wearing this!"
"Our anniversary of what?" Vison says, desperate to know what the hell you were talking about. Eventually you had enough of these shenanigan's and throw the scarves down at his feet stomping your way to the kitchen chairs. "Well if you don't know, I'm not going to tell you!" you exaggerate, crossing your arms and pouting like a child
"(Male Name), darling! That...that man through there is my boss Mr. Hart! And his dear lady wife Mrs. Hart! The heart on the calendar was an abbreviation!" Vision whispers, roughly tapping his hand on the black heart drawn on the dull colored calendar.
You grab your head and shake it trying to put everything together. "Vision sweetie, you move at the speed of sound and I can make a pen float through the air. Who. Needs. To. Abbreviate!?"
Vision grabs both of your shoulders in an attempt to collect his thoughts and calm you down. "Darling, listen, it's all romantic to do the candles, the music, that stunning outfit. I don't wanna be unappreciative, but right now-"
"Your boss and his wife are expecting a home-cooked meal. Correct?" Vision nods his head while muttering 'exactly' while look around the kitchen in order to find somethin to serve to the unwarned visitation of guests. After looking around for a but, your eyes land on the mini round table that held a plate and food on it. "Well, does your boss and his wife have a hunger for a single chocolate-covered strawberry, split three ways?" Vision hisses while clenching his fists and shaking his head no.
"Oh wait, I might have better ideas" Without hesitation you raise both of your sands and snap your fingers, magically changing your outfit to the one you were wearing earlier that day, a pair of dark high waisted cuffed slacks and a white blouse to match (you can change if you don't like), and the audience claps in astonishment at your transformation whilst you tie your apron in a bow behind your back. Vision gives you a quick peck on the cheek and runs back to the living room to keep others company while you figure out what to serve everyone.
---Time Skip---
After minutes of looking, you couldn't find anything in the kitchen, and the refrigerator was empty, so you decided to call your good neighbor Agnes to see if she could pick up some things from the store and bring it over. A couple of minutes pass and you finally hear a familiar knock on the back door in the kitchen. As soon as you open it Agnes rushes through with her hands full of groceries stacked to her chin as she stumbles through the kitchen. Before you could even mutter out a 'thank you' she stops you dead in your tracks and puts all the food down on the table. "Before you can say anything don't think about it. I mean, what kind of housewife would I be if I didn't have a gourmet meal for four just lying about the place. Not that Ralph wants to eat anything other than baked beans, which explains a lot about his personal appeal, mind you." The audience laughs one more at her silly humor as you quickly render to her aid to grab some of the groceries before they could fall. Unfortunately, it seems like the Universe was not on your side since the large cooking pot crashed and hit the ground, echoing throughout the kitchen, while Agnes yelled out an overexaggerated 'oh my'.
You had to get rid of Agnes and as quickly as you can, so you decided to just push her out the back door despite her protests to help you cook. "Thank you so much Agnes but I can take it from here-"
"Are you sure dear, many hands make light work. And many mouths make good gossip too!"
"Oh ahahaha, you are so naughty! But-"
"Oh, shall I preheat the oven then? hmm?"
"That won't be necessary, thank you for your time!"
Somehow she managed to escape your grasp on her waist and make her way back to the counter to crab some kitchen tools to start cooking for you. "Well, I know you're in a pinch so this menu can be done in a snap." She says snapping her fingers before continuing her rambling. you run back over to her and snatch the utensils from her, setting them on the counter, and grabbing her arms to march her back to the door. "Lobster Thermidor with mini-minced turnovers to start. Chicken à la King with twice-cooked new potatoes for your second course, and Steak Diane with mint jellies for your main. Oh wait! Do you set your own jellies, dear?"
"Yes Agnes I do, now can you please-"
"Ah there you go, good boy! Recipe cards are all on the counter there. Bon Appétit!"
"Haha, yes will do, thank you so much again Agnes! Bye now!" You say slamming the door, making the audience laugh at your exhausted expression. Now that she's gone, you run to the middle of the kitchen and throw your arms around, making all of the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen fly open, the dishes start floating out, and the food starts cooking. Out of no where the doors to the island bar swoop open to show Mrs. Hart, but before she could see Vision distracts her by breaking out and singing Yackety Yack by The Coasters, causing her to break out into a little dance, making her way back to the couch. Dear gods and goddess', how lucky are you to have a savior like him.
But little did you know, that the night was only just beginning.

Bea Hughes stands in the middle of Belvoire’s quad on her first day at the school, staring down a snarling beast, some bitch named Poppy that’s really starting to get on her nerves. “You know what, Poppy?” she snarks, “I’m really going to enjoy tearing you down. Something tells me nobody likes you half as much as you like yourself.” She pauses, glancing around before her gaze lands on some frat bro, “Michael, how often does Poppy call you an idiot?”
He frowns, face downcast, “Every day. My therapist says it isn’t good to surround myself with people who bring me down, but my parents are friends with Poppy’s and -”
“Oh my god, nobody asked to be invited to your pity party, Michael!” Poppy shouts, effectively cutting him off with a stamp of her foot.
Bea’s scowl grows, “You know what nobody asked to be invited to? Poppy’s Daily Bitch-Fest. Death by migraine would be more pleasant.”
“Oh, you haven’t even seen Poppy’s Daily Bitch-Fest,” her eyes narrow at Bea dangerously, “But if you’d like a demonstration, by all means, be my guest of -”
“Hey Bea! Look at the time, we gotta go!” Someone takes hold of Bea’s wrist, tugging her along and away from the crowd, from Michael, and from Poppy and her glare. She’s pulled into a sprint across the lawn, running wildly until they’re inside a dorm and standing before some door.
“Wish the circumstances were different, but welcome to the Winfrey dorm complex, aka your new home!” The girl lets Bea’s wrist drop back to her side, gesturing widely with one hand as she fumbles to unlock the door with the other.
She finally succeeds, throwing the door open and ushering Bea inside, the door slamming shut behind them. Bea’s eyes immediately rove over the expensive decor and nice furniture of the huge dorm she’s somehow stumbled upon.
The girl collapses on a couch, kicking her feet up as she looks over to Bea, “So, you got out of that one alive. Barely,” she adds under her breath. “How are you feeling?”
Bea follows suit, slumping down on the opposite side, toying with the hem of her shirt distractedly. “Honestly, you’re gorgeous,” she shrugs, watching the fabric slide between her fingertips. She freezes, slowly glancing to Zoey, “...is what I was thinking, but did I just say it out loud?”
A laugh bursts from Zoey, her head falling back, “You did, and you’re absolutely, positively right. Not to mention easy on the eyes yourself,” she grins, winking at Bea, before sticking her hand out. “I’m Zoey Wade, your roomie,” she shakes Bea’s hand when their palms meet, “This right here is our dorm. Your room’s on the left, mine’s on the right.”
“Okay,” Bea responds abruptly, sinking into the cushions and crossing her arms beneath her chest. “Okay,” she repeats.
Zoey glances over to her, “Are you okay?”
Bea’s eyes flicker to her dark ones, “Yes. Yes, because I got lucky on the roommate front,” she smiles, albeit somewhat forced.
“That you did,” Zoey smiles right back. “In fact, I know the perfect place to get you off campus until the hype dies down.” she jumps to her feet, crossing to the front door before Bea can even react.
She scrambles to her feet, nearly tripping on the corner of the coffee table, “Wait!” Zoey spins as she swings the door open, winking before disappearing down the corner, Bea nearly sprinting to catch up.
---
An hour later, Bea and Zoey are sitting in a dim corner of a Soho speakeasy, soft music and conversation buzzing in the background. Half-drunk Manhattans sit before them, their own voices adding to the soft din of chatter flowing in the space.
“How’d you find this place?” Bea inquires curiously, her eyes scanning the building and its patrons. It’s cozy and warm, the inviting atmosphere a sharp contrast to Belvoire’s intimidating one.
“Connections,” Zoey’s shoulders rise in a nonchalant shrug, unbothered as she scrolls her phone.
“Whose?”
Zoey looks up from her phone, gaze meeting Bea’s as she smirks, “Can’t spill all my secrets on the first day, babe.”
“Why not?” Bea challenges, one eyebrow quirked.
Zoey’s phone is set face down on the table as she looks at Bea mysteriously, smiling secretively, “As sweet as you are, I always need a few cards up my sleeve.”
“How many you got?”
“I’ll never tell,” she winks, in what Bea is quickly learning to be her default.
“I thought the whole point of coming here was to learn more about each other, roomie,” Bea counters pointedly.
Zoey shakes her head, leaning back against the booth, “The point of coming here is avoiding the campus harpy that goes by the name of Poppy.”
“So you don’t want to get to know me? Or let me get to know you?”
“Maybe if you’re lucky I’ll tell you something.”
Bea just her bottom lip out in a pout, her eyes wide and innocent as she blinks up at Zoey. She only smiles coyly in return, drinking her cocktail as Bea deflates, sighing and slumping backwards.
“You are so lucky you’re cute,” Zoey hums from the back of her throat.
Bea grins before schooling her expression into something flirtatious, “I’m hoping I’ll get luckier.”
Zoey laughs at that, just as loud and unrestrained as back in their dorm, “Nice try. At least buy me a drink first.”
“I’ll buy you the whole bar, how about that?”
“I’ll take another Manhattan for now,” Zoey laughs, sinking back into the booth as Bea jumps up, weaving through the speakeasy’s crowd to get back to the bar.
She returns a few minutes later, wiggling the drinks in her hands enticingly with a wide grin on her lips. She slides back into her seat, sipping her own bright coloured cocktail as she looks to Zoey.
“So what made you want to come to Belvoire? Long way from home, right?” Zoey plays with her drink, scraping a cherry off a toothpick with her front teeth.
Bea shrugs, “It’s a good school, and I thought it’d be fun to try something new… But now I’m mixed up in petty drama,” a sigh shifts her shoulders, Zoey stilling her absentminded fidgeting.
“Petty drama, maybe, but you’re making a name for yourself,” she nudges Bea with her elbow. “That’s more than a lot of people can say.”
“So you don’t think I’m totally screwed?”
“Hmm,” one carefully manicured nail taps Zoey’s chin. “I give it ten to one odds,” she finally decides, smiling sweetly across the table.
Bea frowns, a dent forming between her brows as the girl across from her’s smile grows in amusement, “Those aren’t good odds.”
“But there’s still a chance. Look, I know I don’t know you very well, but you seem like the type to pull it off.”
“Seems like you’re just trying to flatter me.”
“And what if I was?”
“I guess I’d wonder if there was a reason for it.”
“Can’t a cute girl be reason enough?”
Bea lets her gaze rake over Zoey suggestively, “I suppose so.”
“See? You’re smart, you’ll be fine,” she encourages. “Probably.”
“Ugh,” with a groan, Bea’s head falls forward, forehead crashing against the table.
“Nope, nope, nope,” Zoey chastises above her, “No moping.”
Bea turns, her cheek pressing into the wood, “What else am I supposed to do?”
“You’re going to dance,” Zoey announces, standing with her palms flat on the tabletop. She cocks her head at Bea expectantly, sauntering out to the dancefloor when Bea takes the hint, popping up and chasing behind her.
The dance floor's more crowded than anywhere else, couples and friend groups moving in unison to the beat thundering through the air. Zoey whirls around, dancing to the peppy song currently playing until Bea’s joined her, swinging her hips and throwing her arms about carelessly.
The song’s change, the crowd moves as one, and the pair spin and jump and whirl, Zoey taking Bea’s hands and twirling her until she’s laughing and dizzy. Time ticks past until they’re both breathless and sweaty, leaning against one another for support.
“You’re a pretty good dancer,” Zoey chuckles, her breath brushing Bea’s cheek, goosebumps breaking across her skin.
A grin breaks Bea’s lips too, relaxed and somewhat tired, “Right back atcha.”
Zoey throws her arm over Bea’s shoulders, fingers knitting behind her neck as she looks down at the shorter girl, her messy hair and gleaming eyes, her smudged lipstick and shining teeth. One hand retracts, the pad of her thumb swiping lightly beneath Bea’s lips, cleaning up the mess on her skin.
Bea’s breath hitches, her eyes widening in the dim lighting of the speakeasy, glued to Zoey’s dark ones as they shift over parted lips. “Hey, Bea?” she whispers, thumb still ghosting over Bea’s skin.
“Yeah?” she whispers back, the exhale skimming Zoey’s skin now.
“Are you still trying to get lucky?”
“God yes,” she groans.
Zoey bends down, letting her lips softly graze Bea’s, just barely making contact. Smudged lips chase hers, Zoey smiling before Bea’s palms are on her cheeks, tugging her downwards, her own thumbs brushing along high cheekbones.
Zoey’s hands find her hips, pulling her closer until they’re bodies fit together, only heat between them under the lights. Zoey nips at Bea’s bottom lip, the shorter girl gasping against her lips, Zoey’s tongue slipping past them.
Time ticks past, the mass of people surrounding them lost in a haze, heat the only thing discernible. The break apart after a short moment, unconsciously swaying to the music together, getting caught up in the rhythm, sucked into the thudding bass.
“We should probably head back to campus,” Zoey murmurs after another song fades out.
Bea’s head lolls to the taller girl’s shoulder, a groan spilling from her throat, “Mm, do we have to?”
A familiar chuckle explodes from Zoey’s chest, “Yeah, maybe you’ll find a four-leaf clover along the way. Get even luckier.”
Bea pulls back, her eyes eager as they meet Zoey’s and the remaining laughter in them. “Okay, let’s go!” she grabs Zoey’s hand on her hip, tugging her through the crowd and out the door, pulling her along this time. Her laughter rings behind Bea as she barrels down the street, New York’s lights illuminating her way.

partners - lee jeno
Tumblr media
Jeno x Reader (female)
Genre: highschool!au / writing partner!jeno / kind of a bad boy but not really / fluff / some angst + also slow burn ish
word count: 6.5k
note: this will be split into parts, i’m most likely only doing two parts so look out for it soon hehe <3 i also am considering doing a spin off with another member...you’ll see who hehe
summary: being enrolled into an extension writing class had its perks. you got to write about more mature topics, and associate with upperclassmen. but when your teacher pairs you with lee jeno, an unexpectedly brilliant writer, he had you second guessing everything. after all, he was just meant to be your partner, nothing more.
//
“new semester! i’m so excited” your best friend, jisung cheers as you both walk past the school gates.
“me too! i cant believe they let me into the extension writing class. they’re all upper class men” you slowly begin to get nervous. jisung rests his hand to your shoulder,
“don’t be like that, you are a good writer okay? they will be so impressed with your work” he attempted to cheer you up. you slowly nodded in agreement, it couldn’t be that bad right?
“and y/n, i thought we were going to try and find you a boyfriend this semester! that peach sweater is not doing you any justice” he teased, poking at your sweater.
“what? i think it’s cute! you just don’t have taste” you roll your eyes at his comment, not noticing that you were walking backwards. and before you knew it, you had tripped. you closed your eyes, knowing that whatever the outcome was, it was going to be embarrassing as hell. but you didn’t feel your body smack to the ground, instead there was a steady pair of arms, holding you up. you kept your eyes closed, unsure of how to proceed. the mysterious figure slightly coughed, signalling they were a lot closer than you thought. you opened your eyes cautiously, turning to face the person who had saved you from an embarrassing fall.
“i-i’m so sorry, my friend and i were just arg-“
“yeah i heard, don’t stress about it” the deep voice gave you a small shiver. lee jeno stood in front of you, in all his glory. he was dressed head to toe in black, as usual. but today, he wore a plain white shirt under his large jacket. he stared back at you, waiting for you to respond.
“ah well, thanks for catching me” you blurted, he just nodded before speaking,
“anytime. and by the way, i think the sweater is cute, peaches” he smirked before heading into school. you were left stunned. you turned back to jisung, who had the same reaction.
what just happened?
//
despite the fact that your strong point was writing, you couldn’t say you were doing particularly well in your other subjects. in conclusion, you were borderline average in everything else, mainly because you didn’t bother putting effort into your other subjects. jisung would badger you about your grades, non stop. he would send you some of his work as an example as well as constantly remind you of due dates. you were satisfied with just passing everything, it didn’t bother you so much.
“jisung! y/n!” you heard a familiar voice shriek through the halls. your other friend, sumi, ran up to you both, encompassing you in her embrace.
“i missed you guys” she pouted, as you and jisung just rolled your eyes.
“you literally saw us like last friday?” jisung teased, you softly nod along with the conversation, zoning out from time to time.
“anything happen before school? i’m sorry i couldn’t walk in with you guys” sumi sighed, as jisung smirked.
“yeah y/n fell on lee jeno” the boy began chuckling, sumi following in suit. your eyes widen, as you smacked jisung’s shoulder.
“i wish i was there, i live for clumsy y/n moments” sumi continues to mock as jisung ruffles your hair.
“thank you for always providing us with quality entertainment” jisung finally jabs before heading off to his next class. sumi ended up walking with you to your first lesson of extension writing. you cautiously stepped into the classroom, observing the students around you. the class divided, half seniors and half juniors. there weren’t that many people who qualified for the class in general, hence the handful of quote on quote ‘gifted’ students. you quickly took your seat, hoping that someone else hadn’t claimed it before you did. your thoughts were interrupted by someone slamming their bag on the desk behind you. you jolted up quickly, startled by their actions. you turned slowly to see who it was,
you have got to be kidding me.
“oh hey peaches” jeno greeted before taking his seat behind you. you didn’t know he was going to be in this class, heck you knew nothing about him.
“i have a name you know, it’s y/n” you respond, watching as his mouth turns up into a small smile.
“i’m jeno. and nice name, but i think i prefer peaches.” he smirked, before you could respond your teacher had just walked in.
“goodmorning class, what an exciting semester we will be having! now, i have read through your papers you all handed to me before the break. please take my criticism seriously if you want to succeed in this class” she sternly announced, beginning to walk around the room. you nervously started fidgeting, your lack of confidence overpowering you.
“y/n, i was quite disappointed with this piece of yours. it lacked a lot of emotion, i couldn’t really figure out what you were saying. i know you are a talented writer” your teacher, mrs kim, explained. you just nodded along, not feeling like anything you could say, would have made a difference.
“i-i’ll try harder” you quickly respond, looking over your paper intensely.
“i hope you will, that’s why i’m giving you a writing partner” you look up at her in confusion, as she diverts her eyes to the boy behind you.
“h-him?” you mumble, as she nods with her arms folded.
“me?” jeno raises his eyebrows before flicking his eyes to you.
“yes! jeno did the best on this task, and you both could learn some things from eachother” mrs kim smiled before walking over to another helpless student. you looked back at the boy, unsure of what else to say.
“i guess we’re partners then?” he mutters, looking over at you.
“i guess we are” you softly nod.
//
after class ended you practically sprinted to find your friends to inform them of your predicament.
“woah what is with you girls and wanting to see me so bad?” jisung mocks once again, resulting in another slap from you and a forehead flick from sumi.
“i got news” you begin, as you all walked to your usual lunch spot. you all sat, huddled together,
“okay spill” sumi demands, as she began eating her food.
“mrs kim made jeno my writing partner” you dropped, as your friends stared at you in shock.
“holy shit it must be like fate or something” jisung’s mouth was wide open.
“no guys please don’t joke! i’m already embarrassed as is! he won’t let go of the peaches joke and it honestly makes me wanna rip off this sweater” you pout, as your friends gently comfort you.
“y/n, don’t you think you’re being a tad dramatic? there must have been a reason that mrs kim paired you guys up! just take a deep breath and focus on the bright side” sumi lets you rest your head on her shoulder and you gently nod.
“thanks guys, i’ll let you know how it all goes” you sigh, moving to another topic.
//
you were seated on the steps out the front of school. students had all dispersed, rushing to get home. you were trying to get in contact with sumi and jisung but your bet was that they had probably caught the last bus. you let out a small sigh, why did your locker have to be so far from your last class?
just as you were about to call your mum to pick you up, you heard someone walk up to you, their figure blocking the ray of sun hitting you.
“hey peaches” jeno greeted, watching as you stood up to face him. he stood on some steps below you, making his face level to yours. he really didn’t want to leave you alone today did he?
“hey jeno” you responded, trying to slyly send a text to your mum.
“why are you here alone?” he questioned, stopping your actions.
“uh my friends caught the last bus without me” you explained, as he just nodded along with your words,
“so what are you going to do now?” you weren’t sure why he was so full of questions, but it did keep you intrigued,
“actually i was going to check out the new cafe in town, wanna come along?” you suggested, watching as he looked at you, confused.
“we can uh start our writing partner thing?” you blurted, now looking at his feet. jeno let out a soft chuckle before pulling you along with him.
“show me the way, peaches” he teased once more as you shrugged his hand off you and continued to walk.
as you both walked side by side, you were discussing the details of your paper.
“so what? i have to rewrite the whole thing?” you softly groaned, arms folded.
“pretty much. here’s a start, what annoys you?” jeno started questioning, leaving you a few moments to think.
“other than my writing partner?” you joked, as jeno rolled his eyes,
“you’re hurting me here” he clutched his chest while laughing. you both reach the cafe, making your way to one of the smaller booths near the back.
“okay to be honest, i don’t really like coffee that much” you admitted,
“why are we even here then?” jeno gave you a puzzled look,
“i don’t know, maybe it will give me some inspiration” you shrugged, jeno just shook his head before heading to the counter to order his own coffee. he spotted a blueberry muffin, opting to buy it incase you were hungry. he made his way back to the table, sliding the plate with the muffin, over to you. you were fixated on your paper, you didn’t notice at first until he let out a small cough.
“how’d you know i liked blueberry muffins?” you smiled, quickly taking a bite,
“i didn’t, i took a guess. seemed like you would like it” he softly smiled before sipping his coffee. you nodded at him before allowing him to read over your paper. he was actually quite helpful to your surprise. he didn’t completely cross out every single line, much like mrs kim. jeno had a way with words, thus making him a valuable partner. you couldn’t wait to work with him again.
//
[two days later]
you were woken up by the ringing of your phone. you rolled over to answer,
“get up sleepy head, we’re all walking to school today. jisung made us late so we missed the bus” sumi’s voice echoed through your phone. you slowly nodded, knowing she wouldn’t see you. you could hear jisung in the background, trying to defend himself,
“will we even make it in time?” you mutter, hopping out of bed and to your bathroom.
“all depends on you, we’re waiting outside now” sumi chuckled, as you quickly hung up. you rushed over to your window and there they were.
god they’re crazy.
you hurriedly attempted to pack whatever you needed, and changed out of your pyjamas. you opted to skipping breakfast that day, knowing that you could steal one of jisung’s random fruit snacks in his bag.
“finally!! the princess is ready” jisung mocks, as he begins to walk.
“what’s his problem today?” you mumble to sumi, trailing behind the taller boy, as he slipped in his earphones.
“he’s just mad at me because i got mad at him for missing the bus” sumi sighs, linking her arm with yours. sumi and jisung were best friends long before you had met both of them. they pretty much ‘adopted’ you into the group when they saw you sitting alone one day in P.E. they always bickered, so you just assumed this was one of their smaller arguments.
“why did you wake up so late anyway?” she changed the subject.
“parents were fighting again. i couldn’t sleep” you sighed as sumi soothingly pats your back. you often chose not to open up much about your parents, but it always felt nice to just finally let out some frustration. sumi and jisung understood you well, they always comforted you when it just got too much.
you pushed aside the feelings, and tried to continue on with your day.
you walked into school, noticing jeno seated near the steps. part of you wanted to go up and say hello, but you weren’t sure if you should. but it didn’t stop jeno from taking notice. he watched as you walked right past him with sumi linked to your side. jeno wanted to continue your conversations for the assignment, but he didn’t feel comfortable pulling you away from your friends. so he waited until you were alone, which coincidentally happened to be after your history class, which was located right next to his locker. he saw you leaving the classroom before he rushes to you. you weren’t aware he was approaching so you both ended up colliding, your butt falling straight to the ground.
“we have to stop meeting like this, peaches” jeno teases, helping you stand. you glare at him playfully,
“you bumped into me! i know i’m not that clumsy”
“it’s okay, it can be our thing” he bit the inside of his cheek softly as you both began to walk together.
“what? us constantly body slamming into eachother?” you raise an eyebrow, as the boy pouts.
“it doesn’t matter! we just gotta have a thing. after all we are partners” he walked with you until you both reached your locker.
“i don’t see that as an obligation, but also don’t take it as a rejection either. we’ll have a thing soon, we just have to get to know eachother better” you smile, opening up your locker to place you books inside. jeno leans against the wall, eyes fixed on you.
“you move fast, peaches. i like it” he chuckled as you softly hit his shoulder.
“you’re overdoing it, you can buy me another blueberry muffin at the cafe today” you smiled up at him, he couldn’t help but smile back.
“don’t you think you owe me for the muffins?”
“but jeno! that can be our thing” you gave him a small pat on the back before walking off to meet with your friends. jeno was left stunned. why were you able to make him speechless?
//
luckily, you and jeno were able to be seated at the same table from last time. he bought another blueberry muffin for you, and another coffee for him. this time you split the muffin, offering him the other half. jeno gladly accepted, munching on the delicious treat.
“have you decided how you want to restart your paper?” jeno begins, sipping on his coffee.
“not really, i’m still quite stuck” you sigh, poking the fork at your muffin.
“hmm okay, let’s start small. how about family?” he suggests, causing you to look to him.
“well i live with my parents, and i have an older brother, but he’s overseas studying” you reluctantly told him,
“is it hard? not having your brother around?” jeno continues, intrigued by the dynamics.
“kind of. i just miss him a lot, he calls me often just to check up on me. but it’s not the same as having him in the house, you know?” you look back down to your muffin. jeno can sense you were getting uncomfortable. he opened his mouth to say something, but closed it when you started ranting,
“you know what’s the funniest part? my parents have pretty much forgotten he exists. i’m over here, missing the hell out of him and they just pretend he was never here” your stomach felt uneasy, holding back all the pain you felt for the past few months. jeno gave you a solemn look, unsure of what to say.
“but he’s their child? they can’t just not care for him” the boy across from you looked concerned. you shook your head,
“they love him. i know they do. they’ve just been so caught up in their arguments and constantly working. the stress has taken a toll on them, and unfortunately, me” you let out. you weren’t so sure why you were spilling your entire month’s worth of journal entries to jeno. but you were glad you had someone to listen to you.
“i-i’m sorry for putting this all on you-“ jeno interrupts you,
“you shouldn’t apologise. use this emotion. use it to write your new piece” he encouraged, placing his hand on your forearm. it was just a small gesture, yet it made you feel warm inside.
“i think you’re into something” you cracked him a small smile before hitting down the suggestion.
“see, i’m a great partner” jeno chuckles,
“ehh still debatable” you retort, watching as his smile turns into a pout.
“but in all honestly, whatever happens at this table, stays at this table” jeno comforts, making eye contact with you. you nodded slowly, feeling more comfortable with his presence. he was a good listener, someone who didn’t talk back much. but nonetheless, you made a new friend.
//
it was the following weekend. you were sitting at your desk, brainstorming ideas for your new piece. you weren’t sure where to start, so you ended up scribbling down random words on a piece of paper to explain how you felt. you rolled your eyes at how hopeless this process was, opting to just clock off for the day. you called sumi, in hopes she would help take your mind off things.
“what’s up?” sumi greets through the phone,
“are you busy? is anything on tonight? i’m trying to get my mind off this stupid paper” you complain, as she giggles in response.
“i think one of jisung’s dance friends is having a party, i can ask him to pick us up?” she offers, as you nod your head.
“see you soon then” you hang up the call, rushing to your closet to throw on a plain white top and some ripped jeans. finally, chucking on a random coat, you made your way down stairs. you caught your dad, sitting alone, watching the television. you felt sorry for him, it seemed like he was doing everything to make things work. you approached him slowly, bidding him a farewell, telling him not to worry about you much. he just nodded, giving you a small wave as you exited the front door. you saw jisung’s car approach your driveway, you quickly settled into the back seat, greeting your friends.
“jisung, important question” sumi starts the conversation, as jisung pulls out of your driveway. the boy just huffs in response,
“is your friend, jaemin, hot?” she starts to giggle as jisung rolls his eyes.
“why are you asking?” he grumbled, as you just sat back to watch the bickering unfold.
“because if he is, i’m gonna go for it” sumi nonchalantly announces, leaving you with your mouth agape.
“don’t even think about it, jaemin is a hardcore player” jisung tries to divert sumi’s interest.
“screw you jisung!” sumi folds her arms, visibly annoyed at the boy’s remarks. you just let out a soft sigh, it was going to be a long night.
//
as the three of you entered the house, sumi pushed right past jisung, leaving you alone with him. he just looks over at you,
“what’s her problem?” he grunts, dusting off the sleeves of his jacket.
“you were being a bit of the dick to her in the car, maybe you should, i don’t know, be nice to her. she’s your best friend” you shove the clueless boy softly.
“but she keeps trying to talk to all these guys! like they can never treat her well like i-“ jisung stops himself as his eyes widen. you copy his expression.
“park jisung! do you have a crush on sumi?” you tease, poking his cheeks.
“ugh please don’t say anything. i want to get her to like me on her own”
he pouts as you nod. you appreciated how respectful he was.
jisung led you to the kitchen, where a lot of people had gathered surprisingly.
“that’s jaemin over there” jisung points out, strolling over to his friend. you straggle behind, trying not to squish between too many people.
“hey man! glad you could make it” jaemin pulls jisung in for a hug, his eyes now turning to you.
“this is y/n” jisung introduces as you leant to shake jaemin’s hand, but the boy didn’t take the hint, instead pulling you to his side.
“hi there” he smirks, as you just nodded. his attention was yet diverted again,
“jeno!! my boy” jaemin practically yells in your ear, causing you to spring away from
his grasp. you watched as jeno approached the group, greeting jaemin first before giving jisung a small nod. he walks over to you and stands by your side.
“hey peaches” he spoke, leaning down to your ear. you smiled up at him, saying a quick hello. jisung started smirking at the both of you, teasingly raising his eyebrows. you give him a quick death stare before he turns away to find sumi.
//
throughout the night, you had conversed with many new people, a lot more than you anticipated. you saw jisung and sumi sitting outside, hoping they were resolving whatever disagreements they had been having. you were seated the bottom of jaemin’s staircase, sipping on a glass of water. you were just about ready to leave, feeling tiredness wash over you. until, you heard an all too familiar voice,
“hello again” jeno looks down on you, leaning against the wall. you couldn’t help but smile,
“hey jeno” you dramatically rolled your eyes, he slowly pouted once again.
“did you really have to say my name like that? am i really that repulsive?” he acted fake hurt, followed by a soft chuckle.
“fortunately, you are one of the least repulsive people i’ve encountered tonight” you respond,
“i know i’m just a catch” he attempted to wink, but just ended up crinkling one side of his face. your head fell back in laughter, your hands clapping whilst doing so. jeno found the sight quite amusing. there you were again, doing the tiniest gestures, yet he found them completely and utterly endearing.
“moving on! why are you sitting alone, peaches? where’s your gang at?” he asks, taking a sip from his cup, which you assumed had alcohol in it.
you motioned for him to sit down next to you, in which he gladly complied.
“don’t tell anyone, but i’m really tired and i just want to get out of this party already”  you leant close to his ear to whisper.
“yeah me too” he whispered back to your ear, causing both of you to giggle.
“my friends are over there somewhere sorting out their drama” you continued to whisper,
“wait why are we whispering? i can’t hear you too well” jeno pointed out, looking over at you. you paused for a second. it was the first time you had properly seen his features up close. there was no denying he was incredibly handsome.  when you looked at him, you saw his glistening eyes, his plump lips and his full cheeks. you weren’t sure why you were only starting to notice this about him. you shook the thoughts out of your head, noticing how he was staring at you, confused.
“u-uh i don’t know actually” you felt a blush creep to your cheers, hoping the dark lighting in the room would hide it. jeno decided to take matters in his own hands, quite literally. he gently latched onto your hand, leading you out of the house and to the front yard. there was a small bench located on jaemin’s porch. jeno waited for you to sit before situating himself next to you, leaving a fair amount of space between you two.
“is this a better place to talk?” he asked, looking over to you. you just nodded in response.
“have you progressed with the paper?” jeno brought up, trying to continue the flow for conversation.
“uh i was trying today. but everything kept getting clogged up in here” you pointed to your head, causing him to give you another solemn look. he really wanted you to do well, and get this assignment done.
after all, that’s what he was meant to be doing.
“don’t be so hard on yourself, it will come to you when it’s ready. i’m here to help, remember?” he comforted, giving you a soft pat on the back. part of you had wished he embraced you, but it was too early in your friendship to initiate any intimacy.
and just like that, you and jeno talked about whatever came to the tops of your heads, for what seemed like hours. you saw sumi and jisung exit the party, relieved to have found you.
“you okay with taking her home?” jisung asked jeno, your eyes immediately flicking to the boy next to you. jeno has situated himself a little closer to you than before, his arm now placed over your shoulders slightly.
“yeah of course” jeno kindly responded.
“don’t try anything! or we are coming for you!” sumi points at jeno in a playful manner before pulling jisung to his car. you wondered what they were going to get up to.
“thanks for driving me” you smiled at jeno, before standing up. he followed your actions, leading you to his car.
“it’s no problem, we just have to get you home safely” you nodded, before pointing out,
“wait did you drink tonight?” you immediately remembered that you’d seen him drink from a few red cups that night.
“no no, i only drink sprite, i swear!” he puts his hands up in defence, you chuckle softly, feeling embarrassed for accusing him.
“ah sorry for accusing you” you apologised while getting into the passenger side.
“it’s fine, i understand that you would have been concerned, but i don’t drink alcohol” he assures you before placing his seatbelt on and starting the car. jeno had a way of speaking that made you feel instantly comfortable. if you had told yourself a year ago that you’d be going home from a random party with a guy you didn’t know that well, you’d probably slap yourself. but something was different about him. he was inviting, intriguing and a pleasure to be around. you didn’t want this night to end.
//
jaemin’s party had brought both highs and lows for those around you. you and jeno were conversing a lot more often, mainly online and at the cafe. but you had noticed that jisung and sumi were starting to be distant. you didn’t want to pry too much, especially since it was none of your business. they would eventually come to you when they were ready, as you fully believed in that.

peaches: jenoooOoo
jenojam: peachessSss
peaches: yeah just wanted to talk, wanna meet at the cafe?
jenojam: yeah okay i’ll race ya
peaches: no fair, you have a car
jenojam: better start running peaches
you rolled your eyes before hurriedly putting on your shoes. you practically ran down the stairs, not noticing your mother waiting at the door.
“and where do you think you’re going?” she sternly questions, you stop in your tracks.
“seeing a friend” you bluntly explained, trying to walk past her.
“which friend?” she continued to interrogate, usually your dad would just send you off and tell you to get home safely, but your mum needed every little detail.
“his name is jeno, he’s from my writing class” you try to explain once again, hoping she’d just take it and leave you alone.
“you’ve never mentioned him before” your mother just didn’t know when to stop asking questions, you eventually opted to opening the front door yourself.
“and you’ve never really been interested in my life before this so let’s both pretend this didn’t happen” with that, you slammed the door a little too harshly for your liking. you took a deep breath before strutting off to the cafe. sometimes you wondered what it would be like if your parents weren’t together. you knew it was such a dark thought, but they weren’t as happy as you had always known them to be. to say you were worried was an understatement. so you went to one of the only people who didn’t make you feel so worried anymore.
//
you entered the cafe, eyes scanning each table until they landed at the back of jeno’s head. you took a deep breath, preparing yourself to not completely unravel in front of him. jeno had already ordered his usual coffee as well as another blueberry muffin, split in half. you took a seat across from him, stopping his movements.
“finally! thought you got lost or something” he playfully teased, pushing your half of the muffin towards you.
“ooo you’re being all concerned about me now huh?” you took a bite of the muffin as jeno almost choked on his coffee.
“lets not get ahead of ourselves, peaches” he responded, cracking a small smile at you. “you didn’t even thank me for the muffin! i guess our thing is ruined now” he softly pouted, which made you instantly smile, how was he doing that?
“ah i’m so sorry! thank you for the muffin, jeno” you rest your hand over his for barely a second before pulling away. it left the both of you speechless for a moment, until jeno awkwardly coughed, trying to change the subject.
“so um how have you been? did you want to talk about anything in particular?” he started, you were pleased he was able to divert the conversation well.
“um well i’m not giving you a full tmi, but my parents have been arguing quite a lot. it makes it hard for me to concentrate. and my brother has finals at the moment, plus the time zones don’t match up well for us to talk. so i can’t really go to anyone about it. and before you point out jisung and sumi, i think they’re being distant with eachother hence my inevitable distancing from them” you groaned after you finished your rant, putting your head in your hands. jeno didn’t know how to comfort you, or what else to say, as a matter of fact. he’d usually just try and crack a joke with you but it seemed like you weren’t in the mood for one at the moment.
“peaches, stop being hard on yourself okay? these things are out of your control. maybe you should tell atleast one of those people how you truly feel. it will give you closure so you can start to feel a bit better” jeno suggested. you listened along to every word, trying to think of the first person who came to mind.
“that’s good advice. thank you again for always listening to me, i really appreciate it. everything is just all foggy at the moment and i’m having trouble staying focused” you sigh, pulling out your journal where you jotted down ideas for your writing.
“how about this, write a creative piece about a child who is experiencing changes in their life that are out of their control? it’s not too far fetched. it’s relatable and you can really dig deep into your emotions, if you’re comfortable” you looked over at the boy across from you, your eyes softening at his expression. he spoke with such eloquence, his eyes practically smiling at you. you felt a small tear form, running down your cheek. jeno’s face turned into a concerned expression,
“oh i didn’t mean to make you upset, i’m sorry, peaches” he frowned as you shook your head.
“no no, you’ve helped me so much, jeno. i don’t know how i can ever repay you for being such a good partner, and friend” you pout at him. he found it completely adorable that you were considering how he was feeling about your partnership. it made him warm inside to know that you thought about his feelings.
“you can thank me by writing the best paper ever and then i’ll take you to celebrate” he shoots you another assuring smile. all jeno knew at this moment was that he never wanted to see you sad or hurt ever again. as long as he saw you smiling, he too felt like everything would be okay. it was silly to put something such as his happiness, onto you. but jeno didn’t care, there was just something about you, he couldn’t get enough of.
//
you spent the following weekend writing, feeling inspiration flood over you. jeno’s idea just clicked so well in your head, it was pretty much impossible for anything to stop the flow at the moment. well, there was one thing. the constant bickering from your parents, tonight’s topic, was about your brother, taeyong. you let out a short sigh, stepping away from your laptop. you reached for your phone, swiping the notification from jeno, aside. you let the phone ring, waiting for taeyong to answer. you were about to end it, until your brother’s tired voice echoed through the phone. you could tell he had just woken up,
“what’s up?” he starts, as you hear shuffling around his end.
“is it possible for you to come home, yes or no” you get straight to the point. taeyong is speechless, fully awake now due to your concerned tone.
“you know it’s not possible. i still have another semester here before i graduate” taeyong sighs, sitting up against his headboard. you roll your eyes, frustrated at him,
“that’s what you said during your finals. that’s what you keep saying. i need you here. mum and dad are driving eachother insane and it’s only a matter of time, that i only end up living with one of them” you rant, as taeyong remains silent. jeno has told you to let out how you felt to atleast one person. why not start with your brother?
“calm down okay? mum and dad aren’t going to get a divorce. they love eachother too much. you’re just being angsty” your brother practically scoffs through the phone. you felt even more frustrated that he refused to listen to you.
“just because you got a chance to move away from all this family drama, doesn’t mean you can leave me behind? i’m your sister, taeyong. don’t you get that? you might not see it as a big deal, but this family is falling apart. and you’re not even here to witness it” you let out a final cry, hoping he would finally understand how you feel. but it was just radio silent. your big brother, who had always been there for you as a child, was now off living his so called ‘best life’, leaving you to deal with everything alone. you didn’t want to converse with him anymore. you hung up the call, about to toss it to the side, before you got a facetime call from jeno. you felt some tears that were stained on your cheeks, quickly wiping them away before answering his call.
“hey there you are! i was just checking up, because mrs kim emailed me, saying the assignment has to be handed in my friday- wait were you crying?” jeno immediately halts himself. you just shake your head, wanting to deny the fact that you were. jeno frowned, knowing you were lying.
“don’t lie to me, peaches” he sighs as you end up nodding. jeno doesn’t tell you stop crying or pry to know why you were upset. he just simply asks,
“do you feel like talking about it?”
you weren’t sure how to answer. on one hand you would have loved to let it all out to him, but on the other hand, you didn’t want to burden him with your never-ending drama. you felt bad for him, actually. that he had to sit and watch you suffer in silence. but that’s who jeno was. he always put others before himself. he cared about you like no other person he had met at the school. you were a light in his life that he never wanted to stop shining. he wanted to protect you, and have you let him in. but he knew it took patience and time for you to fully emerge yourself into being more than friends, and he respected that.
“i don’t really want to talk about it. and i’ll have the piece done by friday, it’s okay” you assure him, watching as he just bites the bottom of his lip.
“cafe after school tomorrow?” he offers, trying to change the topic. you give him a small smile before nodding,
“of course”

My Neighbor is a Lochbrok: Prologue
No Summary. This has been stuck in my head for so long. I had to write it.
Pairing: (y/n) x Ubbe, (y/n) x Sigurd, Adia x Bjorn, Ashla x Hvitserk, Ivar x unknown.
Word count: I have no idea
Also: This is my first time writing Hvitserk. Please let me know how is he?? This is the longest reader insert I have done. Chapter 1 will come after I recover. I think this is awesome, but I am bias.
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"(y/n)! Please! Open this door".
A December night welcome you back into the land of the living one thing you really didn't need today waking up. You had enough with the lack of sleep for the past week to worry about getting your lazy ass out of bed. Suddenly the noises stop all at once giving you enough silence to welcome the sweet embrace call sleep. Does slumber has an aroma? A peaceful feeling that rings familiarity and numbness into your subconscious. It was a nice thought the soft sheets on top of your body pushing you back into sleep while the air conditioner is at the right temperature pumping that desirable amount of cold air needed for (y/n) to achieve sleeping state. Heart rate slows down like the gentle state you get when your fur is laid against a meadow. A violent pound awoke you from your slumber with no upcoming warning (y/n) lips part trying to speak words that never reach the outside of your lips. (y/n) pushes some hair out of her face trying to wake herself up, "I am awake! I am aw-", (y/n) crashes back into the bed pushing the sheets and blankets back onto her body, she forgets the reason she was woken up, it barely slips her mind too soon a thud disturbs your sleeping state once more. (y/n)'s eyes open turning a yellows color a look only taken when the werewolf in question is too close to shifting. A growl escapes your lips pushing the sheets of off you a loud scream escapes your lips; however, the pounds only grows now with your frustration.
"Stop your bickering dammit! I was fucking sleeping!", (y/n) seats on the bed breath in and shouting at the top of your lungs with everything you had in store. You aren't one to shout at anyone without a good reason. Sleep is reason enough. A week have you been deprived of sleep because of some Alpha duty you had to attend too. (y/n) roars once more possibly trembling the whole apartment and announcing to the whole 500 radius that some poor soul have upset the Alpha. (y/n) grabs shorts from the floor putting them on with some t-shirt that was surely stolen from her roommates room. Your hands shake incapable of holding onto your frustration despite you trying not to shred your favorite pajamas. Pajamas made only for you birthday present from your (f/c/s). (y/n) smiles at the good pros of being an Alpha taking such an assignment from your lazy sister. You stump across the apartment ignoring your roommate chugging a bucket of ice cream, "It's Chad". She whispers stopping you dead set before you even reach for the door handle. (y/n) takes a 360 turn looking straight at her friend, "Why is he knocking so loud? Doesn't he knows who I am?", (y/n) places both trembling hands together cracking a joint for good measure anything to help you not to pound the son's beta to death.
"You completely erase last night?", She asks giving you a once over. (y/n) ponders on her friends question before saying anything. A couple of images in Calamity last night rushes in your consciousness. Chad's arms around your shoulder the whole pack having a blast at your sisters bar that's many of the shops or stores we have around New York City to sustain the pack, his sucking attempt to be sexy, some words you cant register then you punching him to an inch of his life... what the? Why did I punch him?
"Guess I did. I haven't had a proper sleep in a while cut me some slack", (y/n) claims taking a turn to the kitchen ignoring the laughter of her friend. You forgot important events of last night it seems there is nothing coffee can't fix. (y/n) walks the short steps to the instant coffee cabinet taking (f/o) out walking to the machine with a suspicious glare towards her friend that hasn't responded yet, "I am waiting. I would love to see a half sleep Alpha beat the fuck out of her ex". She an omega laughs louder than the pounds on your apartment door.
"My Ex? Who Jeffrey? Last time a check isn't he in Denmark now?". (y/n) turns the coffee machine on after water and the coffee was in their respective places.
"Chad. You ended your relationship with him after he made the worst mistake in history", She starts off pushing the ice cream to the side. (y/n) leans back on the counter next to her coffee machine staring directly at the ball of sunshine that's your friend. She wore rainbow pajamas that read on big letters "Chilling is my middle name".
"Which is?", (y/n) respond curiously to know what happen last night.
"You know how you hate your sister to the death? You know how if you had to pick between me or her. You'll choose me right?". (y/n) nods not sure where this is going from all things possible. Your friend smiles a smile that let you to raise an eyebrow.
"Yeah, so? Everyone knows I hate her". (y/n) sighs heavily calming down heavily at the soothing scent of just brew coffee. (y/n) leans off the counter walking short steps to the cup cabinets above your friends head, "But only 3 people can talk about it... maybe 4 if we include the none conventional boyfriend your sister has. That they arent together... but whatever helps her sleep at night", Your friend chuckle gaining you to stop midway to the coffee machine, "That's her phrase. If she hears you, you'll regret it".
"She did double shift at Calamity. Hvitzzy came back and guess who didn't want to come home to sleep??". (y/n) rolls her eyes at her roommate side tracking from one conversation to the next. It was obvious she loved to guess the type of modern relationship my sister has with Calamity's bartender, "Huh? The new pack members finish training?". (y/n) asks as roommate nods with a smile on her lips. She rushes out of her seat so quick (y/n) almost spills her coffee. At first, you thought she needed to hit the toilet, but she return with a book notes address to you from Hvitserk, "Luke brought you this.. It's from Hvitserk. He wasn't able to give it to you with the whole thing. He explains in detail of each member... he was very detail. Luke compelled me so I didn't open it, so please take it". Your roommate pushes the notebook on the kitchen counter staring directly at it then glancing back at you with eyes that explain everything. (y/n) sips her coffee shutting half of her sleep goodbye.
"What the fuck happen last night, Adia?!".
"Chad insulted Ashla in the busiest night Calamity has seen so far. He said and I quote, "It seems nature skip your sister from the bottom of my heart I feel for anyone that thinks she could ever become a proper Alpha" I don't know if it was the couple of drinks you have had or lack of proper sleep. You swing an uppercut so quick it surprise everyone at the table. I was shock Hvitserk wasn't amuse. Your sister came into the bar and walk out saying something about she isn't going to jail today. It took an hour to pull you from Chad just because 40 minutes of that we were all just stun. You shouted to him, "Only I am allowed to insult her! Yeah she is a fucking bitch, but that doesnt give you the right. She is my flesh and blood". I mean yeah Chad had said stuff about Ashla to her face and behind her back countless off time much worse than that you just never were around to hear it". Adia retells the last night events as the picture of last night clouds your memory.
Flashback.
It was 2 minutes to 11 o'clock. New York City night life has just started with the many human and wolfs alike pouring into Calamity. Midnight was around the corner and a couple to many drinks in your system. Chad holds your shoulder to keep you steady as everyone comes by paying their respect to the Alpha then walks to the bar to welcome back Hvitserk for the excellent work at training new recruits. Old faces come and go with rarely new ones the whole pack was here living their best life, "Another drink for our Alpha!", Chad claims gaining a crowd to raised their glasses cheering happily. (y/n) chuckles uncontrollably at the slight thought this is an amazing night. You kiss Chad on the cheek with him returning your affection, "I have to go say my words to Hvitserk. I'll be right back". (y/n) moves back with beer in hand walking to the bar hearing a soft, "I'll be here", from Chad's lips. Hvitserk laughs at some joke Luke spoke near the bar. (y/n) walks slow steps stopping right in front of the infamous Alpha, "Welcome back, Alpha", (y/n) words brings Hvitserk's eyes staring directly at your (e/c). It was a short sense of acknowledgement as his eyes drift to the door. His green eyes keep contact with those that (y/n) knows is her by the strawberries and cigarette strong scent, Ashla.
"You are staring Hvitserk", Luke calls out making you laugh almost choking on the beer you were trying to drink.
"Luke leave the lover boy over here. He can stare all he wants, but Ashla is not the woman I would recommend, Hvitty", (y/n) inch closer to him whispering words laughing soon after at his stare from Luke green eyes to your (e/c).
"I am not staring". Hvitserk claims keeping his eyesight on the drink he has been working for Luke.
"Right... and Ashla is a proper lady", Adia whispers just to sweeten the deal (y/n) burst out laughing replying back, "This shouldn't be funny".
"Ashla said we could add a moderate amount of Wolfsbane". Hvitserk inches closer to my ears whispering seductively the words that make me fear life as it is. He pulls back cracking a laugh at my fearful utter expression, "You didn't just do that?". (y/n) asks just as Hvitserk avoids a sharp glass thrown at him from across the room. Luke, Adia & (y/n) turn around to stare far across the other side of the bar a black hair woman with glaring black eyes looking back at us, "Well, Ashla is pissed. She didn't told you to use Wolfsbane, did she?".
"I did to us werewolves not to the humans". Ashla soft whisper reach all the corner of our minds. (y/n) shivers turning around shaking the feeling that Ashla might just be behind you.
"I'll prepare whiskey on the rocks if you come here". Hvitserk whispers to my sister. We stare seeing Ashla taking another cigarette out placing both her lips around it. She looks up with a glare directly at Hvitserk, "My attention cost food".
"I was waiting for you to say that", Hvitserk responds with a cheeky grin adorning his lips. (y/n) looks back at Hvitserk bringing some plastic bags from under the bar counters. You look as Adia shiver pointing to the other side of the bar (y/n) looks towards it seeing Ashla joining group, "Congrats, Hvitserk. You have master Ashla". Luke says sadly right after Ashla proceeds to punch his gut with her elbow. She sat back down eating her food and alcohol in silent, "Has everyone said their welcome backs?".
"Hmm.. Let me see". Hvitserk reach back to put his hair up again. It was cute the state everyone was in Hvitserk was back, Ashla wasn't so moody well less moody than usual, Adia was as always a ball of sunshine, Luke new house is the floor. (y/n) stares at Luke seeing Ashla feet on his head, "There is only one person that hasnt said it to me". Hvitserk blurts out with Luke screams of pain when Ashla stands from her seating position. You glance at the little exchange not going to help Luke because Ashla's wrath cant be escape. Ashla takes a hold of Hvitserk's collar bringing him to her level, "Hmm. I told you first... remember that". Ashla proclaims almost growling. Adia and (y/n) wait patiently for the kiss that never seem to happen. Ashla hates a crowd she lets go off his collar not before Hvitserk place a hand behind her head bringing Ashla closer to finish what she started. It was sudden but sweet in a way (y/n) saw Ashla's brows relax and her face calm down just from one action. Hvitserk pulls back pecking her lips again, "You can't tease me like that".
"Who said I was teasing?". Ashla blurts out sharing another kiss with him. Adia throws them some fries to stop their make out session, "Wait till everyone leaves! I don't need to know where you two fuck".
"The bar in the other side that we don't use", Hvitserk respond letting go off Ashla satisfied to get what he wanted.
End of Flashback
"I didn't need to know that", (Y/n) calls out shaking your head shivering at the sweet exchange. Adia glances at your surprise, "so he is pounding our door for that?".
"Maybe....". Adia takes a step from her chair trying to escape your questioning.
"We are not done. What else happen?", (y/n) firmly speaks not a minute later Adia returns with a spoon in hand eating her ice cream.
"Chad kiss Jessica and went home with her. Ashla kick them out of the bar saying something on the lines off disowning them from the pack. Chad said Ashla can't do that, but she glare at him.. you know with her red eyes... it was a tense time. You follow up disowning Jessica too". Adia fills in the empty blanks that lead to the Beta's son being a total douch-bag, "He probably thinks he can talk to you knowing you forget sometimes", Adia adds gaining you glare back at the door.
"We both are Alpha... even though she says she can switch to a beta", (y/n) shakes her head at the current stupidity of her sister.
"He is still outside. Ashla said to call her, and she'll rough him up a bit. Hvitserk suggested to call him. He offer to make it quick whatever that means", Adia blurts out locking eyes with you once more.
"He means to kill Chad. Did somebody told him what Chad has said?". (y/n) asks with Adia thinking about her response.
"I believe he knew. He just didn't knew it was about Ashla. I have never seen him so angry before". Adia shivers pointing to the door. You shrug the uneasy sensation placing the empty coffee cup in the sink with Adia putting Calamity's number on the homephone. (y/n) takes steps out the kitchen and towards the first headache of this morning. You didn't want to deal with the douch-bag that's your former boyfriend Chad Tim, Beta son to Jimmy Tim a good man despite his shitty son. (y/n) brings the door open seeing red headed Chad growling at your form. (y/n) stretched not even bother to feel threaten by Chad small attempt, "Why the hell are you here? Didn't Ashla disowned you? You don't belong or get help by the pack leave to your whores house already". (y/n) holds onto the door handle pushing the door back to closing hoping that's the end of that. You walk back into your apartment unaware that Chad stop the door from closing, "Don't you walk away from me!! Ashla is not my Alpha. You are". Chad growls an spits at you screaming louder than you thought possible. He runs towards (y/n).
"(Y/N)! Oh my god! Chad has gone mad!", Adia calls out to you screaming at the phone to someone that replied, "I am on my way".
(y/n) turns left slowly watching Chad punch air. You felt like a feather feeling your Alpha senses flagging red when danger is about. (y/n) reach for his wrist pressing enough strength to catch a reaction. You bring one of your legs to his stomach hoping it had broken a bone or 3. A crack not sure if was yours or his as his other punch make contact with your cheeks. Adia scream wanting to help, but Chad looks at her growling to keep her quiet. Adia stops dead on track whimpering. (y/n) punches his gut one more time. You breath in air screaming when you pick Chad up throwing him outside your apartment. The pack members walk out of their apartments staring at gone mad Chad and their beaten Alpha, "I'll make you suffer for that Chad. You will plead for mercy that I'll never provide, you lowlife sack of shit. Come at me you little bitch. Are you going to fight me for your spot in the pack because last time I check Ashla disowned you. This is a pack of Alpha sisters. She did right at fucking kicking you ungrateful little shit!", (y/n) calls to him eyes turning a vivid color him growling at every word you said. Hearts beating and Adria thought just forgotten as you run to Chad with a goal in mind.
Make sure he regrets the day he was born.
After TWK part iii
It was surprisingly cool that evening, Jude observes, stepping out of Vivi's apartment. Tom waits patiently as she goes back inside to get a sweater. She reached to grab a slouchy sweater that was abandoned behind her bedroom door but Vivi stops her.
"You're not thinking of wearing that with your dress are you?" Vivi rummages through her clothes, then tosses her sister a denim jacket. It even smelled clean to Jude's surprise.
"I didn't think it was your style." Jude remarked. It didn't seem like Heather's either.
"Its not." Vivi didn't offer an explanation and Jude was in too much of a hurry to ask for one. She tossed her a pair of strappy sandals sandals but Jude declined. She tucked in the laces of her jet black boots to which Vivi nodded appreciatively.
"I'm almost jealous, i could never wear those. Steel toe and all. Very punk of you."
Jude paused, "is that a complement?" She turned to look at herself in Vivi's mirror. Heather had shown her how to apply liner and mascara to make here eyes look bigger. She even dusted the apples of her cheeks with a little color and added a little tint to her lips. Jude was strangely aware of her appearance and very nervous.
"You look great. Now go out there before he thinks you ditched him. C'mon Oak we have to pretend to do homework." Oak glared out the window, down at Tom. Resenting the day he pulled his prank, he scowled at the mortal instructor.
"Don't wait up, I'll be home in a couple of hours to check your homework. And if i forget Tom will tell me tomorrow!" Jude warned as she stepped over the threshold to join her date. When she left Oak stared up at his sister, Vivi.
"Isn't she married to King Cardan? Why is she spending so much time with him?" He holds his pencil tightly as he tries to start his homework. What was all this nonsense with adverbs anyway?
Viv sighed, the lives of her family members were unnecessarily complicated. "Well she is. But its more of a political agreement."
"Oh," Oak mused," I thought Jude was good at making those."
"What made you change your mind?" Vivi turns to the back of Oak's book and copies the answers for him. Making a mistake or two to make it inconsipicuous.
"Well she's here isn't she? I'm here to learn stuff and she's here because she made a mistake. Jude must not be good being tricksy as I thought."
Vivi laughs and ruffles Oak's hair. She wants him not say that around Jude or she won't let him stay up and watch tv anymore. Oak frowns.
"Then again, I don't think the King is good at being tricksy either. Every time I see him, he seems upset. Especially last Friday at paint night." Vivi freezes and stares at Oak, she asks what he means. Oak rolls his eyes, with all these adults around he figured that someone around here would a clue. "Yeah he was here. He talked to Tom and broke his phone. He asks me questions about us but mostly Jude. Sometimes he gives me gifts. He won't be happy that she wears some of them when she spends time with Mr. C."
Vivi stared out the window, she wondered if he was out there now. "Why didnt you say tell us about these secret meetings before? Did he tell you not to?"
Oak shakes his head, " I didnt think I had to. It wasn't anything important. It's not like he was a stranger." He looks at Vivi, "Can we order pizza?"
...
Tom is fumbling with his fork as Jude smiles up at him. She has a little tomato sauce from slurping her spaghetti. She's having too much fun to notice as Tom decides whether to tell her or reach forward and attempt to be romantic. He blushes at the thought and mumbles it instead. Jude dabs it away with her table cloth. Her dark hair moved to either side of her neck, soft waves that complement her olive skin.
"You look very pretty tonight." Tom confesses as the waitress refills their water glasses.
The waitress excuses herself as Jude meets his gaze, " Am I not as appealing any other night?" She's teasing. Tom's ears turn bright red and Jude can't help but revel in the satisfaction.
"Well I'm not sure, I haven't spent that many nights with you to get a general consensus."
Jude mockingly frowns, "General consensus? How many nights do you plan on spending with me?"
In a move that surprised both of them, Tom leans in, "As many as it takes."
She laughs, "Takes to what?" Her face gets a little closer.
"As many as it takes for you to want to spend more time with me." Without much thought Jude sits closer to Tom for the rest of the night. They discuss books. Some that Tom has never heard of but Jude assures him that they're foreign and hard to translate.
It's around closing time that they realize they've over stayed their welcome and leave to continue their date. Tom leads the way to find dessert, he gives Jude his elbow and she happily takes it. As Tom recites poetry from John Keats, enticing Jude with every word a dark figure closes in on them listening to every word.
The Roach had dreaded every moment of tonight, nothing had gone according to plan. Well in his defense, this plan didn't have the consent of the key part of it, the Queen of Elfame. Jude was supposed to end the night early because it had gotten too cold. A courtesy of little magic breeze that only followed then because Van followed them. The food at the table wasn't supposed to be appetizing because he had glamoured the busboy who took out the trash to go back inside and add too much garlic to their food. He even burned their bread. The waitress spilled their drinks, but since it was only water it didn't bother them. As the mortal man wooed his friend with words of promise and romance, Van shivered in disgust. The King was not going to like any of this.
"How is it going?" A voice calls from the shadows and Van turns to see the Bomb step out them. He shakes his head. "That bad?" She leans against the same tree as him to watch.
"They seem to be having a quaint little date." He sighs and takes a bottle of wine from his coat and gives it a swig. He needed something stronger than this.
"That doesn't sound so bad." She takes the bottle out of his hand and takes a drink. Van gives her a look. "What? You cant expect her to sit at home and cry. That's not the Queen we know." Liliver uses their old codename for her.
"Not cry but plot perhaps. That's what she's good at, plotting."
"How do you know she's not getting back at the King for exiling her by dating a human? You don't know Jude like I do." She juts her chin out as Jude nestles up in a little corner of the cafe. Her date brings her two steaming warm mugs topped with whip cream. Jude's face breaks into unfamiliar warmth. Liliver chokes on the wine.
"That doesn't seem like plotting to me. But I have to agree with you, she isn't idly going to sit by and be shamed by Ol' Silver Lips in front of all of Faerie. He knows that too."
"Oh yes , Ol' Silver Lips is well aware of his former seneschal's habits." A cool voice says behind them.
Van sprays wine everywhere, a couple of humans turn to see but it's too dark to make out what's happening. Van and Liliver look around, knowing that voice too well. Cardan throws an acorn from atop the tree they're leaning up against. Where he got the acorns they don't know. Liliver snickers, not even embarrassed to be overheard. She pulls down her hoodie to reveal her white misty hairy and Van grunts, annoyed.
"Your majesty, isn't it unsafe to be far from the kingdom right now? Surely your absence is a miss at some revelry." Van asks, not an ounce of cordial professional in his voice.
Cardan chuckles and throws another acorn at him. It smarts his ear and he hisses at the bite of it.
"No revelry or orgies. As far as anybody else knows I'm in the strategy room with my new advisors. They both look at him questioningly and he sighs," Its you two. Obviously. Congratulations you've been promoted"
"Does it come with a salary raise?"
"If Jude kisses that mortal it doesn't. Consider a demerit coming your way." He reaches out for his turn with the wine as Van hands it to him with a confused glower. "Oh you'll see."
As Van tries to point out the ways he tried to sabotage Tom and Jude's evening, Cardan counts. He counts the many times Tom and Jude smile at one another, when they laugh, when they bat their eyelashes at one another. Soon the bottle of Wine is gone and Van leaves to get another one from a restaurant.
.....
Jude's cheeks hurt from smiling. Whenever the tips of Tom's mouth turn up, her's just seem to follow. When she doesn't know what to say she just nods or furrows her brow. She found it difficult to behave like a typical mortal should. Maybe it was all that time she in faerie and trying to not be seen and keeping her emotions in check. Tom was the complete opposite of that experience. Every moment was narrated by his expressions, his excitement drawn back with his eyebrows or anxiousness highlighted by the twiddling of his thumbs. In a strange way it was beautiful. She observed him as a child would a newborn, in absolute awe.
Tom talked with his hands, maybe it was the coffee or the fact that he couldn't help it. He tried to describe to her the castles he visited in Europe while he was writing his thesis on William Blake. His hands echoed the open halls of the abandoned fortresses and the decaying moss covered stone that held it together. He tried to bring to life his stagnant memories of the open vastness of wilderness that enveloped around it. He said all this hoping to impress her but instead got swept up in reminisces of it all. Little did he know how acquainted she was castles and dwellings of this kind but instead of solitude she was met with a thriving brilliance the like he's never seen. The kind of normalcy that Jude had lived up until this point was stuff of nightmare and fantasy, the kind of scenery that filled up his books and poetry.
When Tom talked of things that excited him, it merely reminded Jude of the fire she once had. Of the now muted hunger that she once carried in her belly. For a moment she got experience that bit of excitement once again.
Tom looks at the clock and her eyes follow, it's late. He has to teach class in the morning, Jude understands and gets up. Tom asks if he could walk her home, she nods. As they walk their hands and elbows bump against each other. Jude clears her throat at the awkwardness and brings her cold hands together to make them warm. Tom, in unlikely bold move, takes them and runs them against his for friction and warmth. Jude thanks him and doesn't let go of his hand as he walks her home.
At the foot of the steps near her front door, he bids her good night. He looks at her, with a question in his eyes and she reaches up on tiptoes to kiss him.
At that very moment, somewhere in the shadows. Cardan Greenbriar's heart broke.
Best Mistake
Pairing: San x Reader
Song: Best Mistake
Warning: Light swearing
Genre: Angst, fluffy ending
Tumblr media
“Cause you’re the best mistake I’ve ever made”
You knew San before he became an idol and started training. While he was training to debut, you two started dating. But along with dating, came with more fights, make ups, and a toxic relationship
You were constantly lonely due to San training hard for long hours. This was his dream, and you couldn’t stop him. You two shared an apartment where he slept one week at the dorm and one week with you.
This week was his week with you and you were cleaning up the bedroom and there was his beloved Shiber sitting on the bed. When you finished cleaning you decided to read a book on the bed with some coffee. You accidentally burned your tongue and in shock spilled some coffee on the bed sheets and on Shiber. You freaked out because San would be home in less than a half an hour and you didn’t know what to do.
You grabbed some stain remover and put it on Shiber but as you were going to rinse it, you heard the door open, panicked and threw Shiber on the bed and covered it with the sheets so he wouldn’t notice. You ran to the door greeting him. “Hi y/n, how was your day?” He said smiling and hugging you. He pecked you on the lips and giggled. “It was good, how was yours?” You asked. “It was fine, you know hard work at the studio.” He walked into the bedroom and you prayed he didn’t see or try to find Shiber. But as soon as you were going to walk to the kitchen
“Y/N!!!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO SHIBER???”
You walked in shyly into the bedroom to find an angry San holding a stained and drenched Shiber.
“Maybe I’m the sinner and you’re the saint”
“I-I-I spilled coffee on Shiber while reading…I’m sorry,” you said. “WELL, SORRY ISN’T GOING TO CUT IT. DO YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT SHIBER IS TO ME??!!” You nodded quietly. “THEN WHY WOULD YOU BE SO STUPID TO RUIN SHIBER???!” You just stayed quiet. “SAY SOMETHING Y/N!!??” To be honest, San was scaring you, you’ve never seen him this angry at anyone, and you’ve seen break a squeaky hammer. But by his tone and face, it looks like he could break five hundred hammers. “I was trying to fix it, I’m sorry, I don’t know what else you want me to say.” You responded quietly.
“Why are we pointing fingers when we’re the same?”
“ITS YOUR FAULT Y/N ITS ALWAYS YOUR FAULT WHY CANT YOU THINK WITH THAT TINY BRAIN OF YOURS??!” San yelled. You decided you had enough and decided to tell him how you felt. “WELL, IT’S NOT LIKE YOU’VE BEEN FAIR TO ME EITHER.” You screamed back “What are you talking about? I’ve been nothing but caring for you,” San said. “YOU THINK I DON’T GET LONELY IN THE APARTMENT, MISS GOING ON DATES WITH YOU, TALKING WITH YOU ON A DAILY BASIS?? IT IS THAT HARD TO TRY TO TALK TO ME??!!” You scolded. “That’s SO funny y/n. You have NO RIGHT to say that about me I’m a busy man, at least I’m not sitting on my ass all day waiting for my boyfriend to show up.” San spat back.
“Break up, make up, total waste of time”
You got a feeling that you and San would take another break, you’ve taken one before but that was for other reasons.
【~Flashback~】
You came home late from a birthday party of your best friend and you knew San was home so you opened the door expected him to be asleep. It was around 2:00 so he would have just gotten to bed. You came home and saw a light in the bedroom and heard another woman’s voice? You quietly walked up to the bedroom to see San with another woman, making out. You started to cry at the sight before you, San kissing another woman and holding her the way we would hold you. The woman quickly noticed and screamed. She immediately left San and out your apartment door.
“Cause if the water dries up and the moon stop shining, stars fall and the world goes blind, boy, you know I’ll be savin’ my love for you”
San stood up and walked over to you, also in tears, he smelled of alcohol and cheap perfume, and immediately knew what happened. San just looked at you and hugged you. You just let him hug you, both crying, you hugged him back because you loved him, even if the world were dying, you would still love him. You told him to take a shower, and you’d forget about this, and from that moment on, nothing in terms of cheating happened.
【~End of Flashback~】
“Can we please make up our minds and stop acting like we’re blind?”
“San…please,” you said. “What?! He said. “Make up your mind.” he looked at you confused. ‘Let’s be serious, who am I to you San?” “Am I even someone you love?” “Am I worth fighting for over and over again?” San just kept looking at you. “Y/n….I just don’t know if I can forgive you.”
“I done count to ten, lost my temper back to four”
You immediately turned and slapped him “SAN CHOI ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!” “I FORGIVE YOU FOR MAKING OUT WITH ANOTHER WOMAN, AND YOU CAN’T FORGIVE ME FOR RUINING A DOLL??!” You quickly covered your mouth, you said it, the d-word. San looked at you with wrath and said: “What did you just call Shiber?” He backed you against the wall of the bedroom. “SAY IT.” He demanded with darkness in his eyes. “A d-doll.” You said. He slammed his fist against the wall making you jump and slide down the wall until you are sitting against it. Your eyes were filled to the brim with tears of sadness and anger. “Get out.” You said. He looked at you. “I SAID GET OUT!!” You screamed at the top of your lungs.”
“There’s no pot of gold in the rainbows we chase”
San immediately grabbed all his things are started to leave. But then he looked at you. Crying, lonely, in the darkness of the bedroom. He knew you didn’t have many friends, so he knows how lonely you get. He just looked at you with guilt, and when you thought he left you heard him drop his things and immediately ran and joined you on the floor and hugged you. As much as you wanted to push away and punch him, you couldn’t you loved him too much. You cried into his chest, and he kissed your forehead and rubbed his hand against your back. “I forgive you, and I love you.” He whispered That made you feel a little bit better. “Thank you for trying to fix Shiber for me, but I’ll take him to the dry cleaner to get him properly washed and clean.”
He picked you up bridal style and tucked you into bed and kissed your temple before heading to your shower. Once he finished and got changed and joined you in bed and cuddled you until you both fell asleep.
“But we hold on, hold on, yeah”
Soulmate!Jimin
Park Jimin; fluff
Happy late birthday Jimin! We love you!
Word count: 1769
Alright yall welcome to my first official bullet scenario
Let’s see how this goes
Ok anyways
It’s Jimin’s birthday and I wanna do something special for him
I hope he gets better,, i know it isn’t serious but still
And the whole soulmate AU is something i love wholeheartedly and i want to write one
Let’s get it (imagine jungkook saying that)
So Jimin’s a junior in college
Jimin is pretty well known on campus for his dancing and although he isn’t as outgoing or social as Taehyung or Jungkook, he still is pretty popular
Mainly because he’s hot but
So being a junior, he basically knows most of the “secrets” on campus
Like where to hang out, study, eat breakfast, you name it and he’ll tell you
Oh yeah he’s such a sweetheart
Will walk you to where you need to go if it’s dark out
Carries your books if you look like you’re about to drop them
The whole “prince charming” deal, it’s understandable if hordes of girls chase after him
Who wouldnt, right?
Welp with the creation of the Soulmate System, it sorta gets rid of the idea of unnecessary crushes
Which seems sad BUT it reduces heartbreak and all the sad stuff that comes from failed relationships
So the way it works is that everyone has a black rectangle on the inside of their left wrist
And everytime they speak to their soulmate, the rectangle gets lighter and lighter until you can read the name
Of course there are flaws and your soulmate might have a different person on their wrist or you just never end up meeting them
But we aren’t gonna talk about that, this is going to be a happy one!!
Back to Jimin
As i was saying, he always knows what places to hit up
And of course, the only way to know this is if he goes there himself
One day, he finished his last class of the day and stepped outside only to get hit with a strong gust of wind and a sudden chill
Its F A L L
Which means cafes!! Warm drinks!! Sweaters!!
Once he composes himself and fixes his hair, he starts wandering through the city surrounding his college
After drifting from place to place, he finally spots a small coffee shop that’s hidden by a fancy department store
Like it’s literally right next to the store but it’s so minimalistic that you just dont really notice it
But he does!!
So he goes in and he’s just met with warmth and soft piano melodies coming from above and the smell of something sweet in the oven and he just melts
This is exactly what he needs
Walking up to the counter, he looks at the menu and decides to get something simple
Because if this place cant make a good cappuccino then it fails in his eyes
Speaking of eyes
As he was collecting his change from the cashier, you just happened to walk in for your shift
And boy did his heart do a weird thing in his chest and he just couldnt take his eyes off of you
Honestly you were just in your uniform (white button down, navy apron, dark pants, hair up) and not in the best of moods because you may or may not have forgotten to turn on the alarm and was late for your first class
Always double check your alarms friends
Basically you were just not looking your best at the moment
But did Jimin think that?
N O PE
The poor boy almost left his wallet at the counter because he just couldnt stop looking at you
Although that may sound creepy at first, it was more of a ‘who is this angel in front of me’ stare with eyes bright and shining to the point where it was just endearing
That didnt stop the person behind him from coughing and letting him know that there is a full line right behind him ohmygod jimIN MOVE
You, on the other hand, didn’t notice a thing and went to your station where you made drinks and call out people’s names and all that jazz
He picked a seat near the back of the cafe after he ordered, where he had a view of everything
And by everything, i mean you
“She’s so pretty wow i want to talk to her but what if she thinks im weird??? What would i even say? How would i eve-”
“Jimin? Your order is ready”
“Ohmygod she said my name what do i do??”
“Jimin? Is there a Jimin here?”
“Ye-Yes!”
His voice cracks and he feels his face heat up
Gone is the charming and confident Jimin
Hello to the shy and clumsy Jimin
The poor boy almost spills his drink because he’s nervous and his voice already cracked and you’re giggling
Bless your soul for trying to hide it behind your hand and spare him the embarrassment
But you laughing isn’t helping because now he’s even more red and thinking ‘wow your laugh is so cute can you literally get any more adorable’
“Does coffee make you this nervous?”
“No, it’s the cute girl giving it to me”
He’s thankful that he didn’t embarrass himself anymore and somewhat recovered
Because now you’re the blushing one (he’s still a little pink from before but he decided he enjoys seeing you flustered more than anything)
Eventually he had to leave because wow it’s late and he still has homework to do
So he sadly walks out, taking a glance at where you were working but you were busy with another customer so you didn’t see him look at you
BUT he comes back almost everyday just to see you
It does a number on his wallet but hey, who needs money when you’re in college, right?
I’m kidding being a college kid is so expensive ohmygod
Everytime he comes by, he always tries to make you blush or laugh
Maybe at the same time
He just wants to get to know you better because you’re a really sweet person and he has this urge to hold your hand or hug you or kiss you but he pushes it down
At the same time, the mark on the inside of his wrist has been getting lighter and lighter
He can faintly make out the name hidden and he oh so desperately wants it to be you
You, on the other hand, could read the name on your wrist
Guess what?
It says Jimin!
You were so happy the day you found out
And when you saw him the next day you were just !!!!!!!
But he didn’t say anything about it.. Not even a small hint to let you know he knew
So you were confused
Did he just not like you in that way?
Or even worse
What if you weren’t his soulmate?
You confided in your best friend once you got back home after seeing him
“He didn’t even mention the mark? What if it isn’t my name?”
“Does he know your name?”
“..I think he does?”
“Wait how are you not sure??? Haven’t you guys been talking for a month now?”
A few days passed and Jimin still doesnt know your name
But his wrist says ‘Y/N’ and he can’t remember anyone with that name
So he decides that today is the day he’ll ask you for your name
Because he’s also worried that he isnt your soulmate
You knew his name already, and if he was destined to be yours why hadn’t you told him?
Did you not like him?
He kept stressing over it for hours on end and his roommate finally told him to go out and ask
Although it was just to stop Jimin from pacing around their shared dorm and making his roommate dizzy from all his sudden movements
And being Jimin, he dresses up and styles his hair
To be honest, if you hadn’t already fallen for him then you definitely did when he walked through the doors
“If your man taking you out on a date, he looks hOT”
“Jackson shut up i swear i’m going to spill hot coffee on yo- hi Jimin!”
It all goes according to plan at first
He hasn’t embarrassed himself or had his voice crack
He goes and waits near you, and since there weren’t many customers you could talk to him without having another cranky customer yell at you
looking at you, old man who came in and ordered hot water. who even does that what it wrong with you
You were still a little upset that he hadn’t mentioned anything about his mark
But you acted as if nothing was wrong
So when he just says “What’s your name?” without even saying hi, your heart sort of knew what was going to happen before you did
It started beating faster and a smile was threatening to show but before you did anything dumb, you answered
“y/n… why?”
And he gives the brightest smile, like the Sun can fight me because Jimin’s smile outshines it in this very moment
“Because I think you’re meant to be mine”
Cue the various aww’s coming from your coworkers and that sweet old couple who’s been shipping the both of you ever since Jimin brought you a lily he saw on his way that ‘reminded him of you’
Jackson also starts screaming a little and jumping because finally you two pieced it altogether
Jackson knew ever since you asked him about your whole dilemma because once you took a sick day and he ended up talking to Jimin
And coincidentally saw Jimin’s wrist and went :D
But he couldn’t say anything because he wanted the both of you to reach that conclusion on your own
Still, it was really obvious that there was something there
Back to Jimin and you,,
As soon as he said that you ran around the counter and tackled him in a huge hug
Jimin didn’t see that coming but he caught you in time and he sort of stumbled back but who cares because ohmygod he finally gets to hug you
This is all he’s been dreaming of
He feels so warm and soft and smells a little like peppermint and you can hear his heart beating just as fast and yours and his whole body is shaking with laughter because he really can’t do anything other than smile and laugh
He’s hugging you tightly and everything felt right in the world
Jimin found his other half and you found yours too!
Anon said: I love your writing! Could I regular an imagine where the reader is a nurse and klaus runs into her while hes collecting blood bags or something and is completely taken back by her kindness to her patients. Thank youuuuuuu!
"Yes, I'm sure you will" the young woman chuckled as she adjusted the blanket that covered the older gentleman’s legs "make sure you get some rest because your wife is coming to visit you in the morning, remember?" with her words the old man smiled immediately and nodded his head with appreciation.
Y/N worked as a nurse at the hospital in Mystic Falls, her job always kept her busy so she didn't have much time to go and make friends or have time for things like relationships. However, she was grateful to have a wonderful job where she got to meet and help a lot of different people, being a nurse was a demanding job but it always repaid her with joy and happiness for her patients. On this particular night it was quiet which was unusual for the hospital that was in a supernatural hotspot of a town, but of course she didn’t know about any of that, she believed it was just a town with a lot of dangerous animal attacks, like they always told her. Y/N didn't mind the lack of activity within her ward, it gave her plenty of time to unwind and see to all the patients properly, even if she was one of the only people on that ward for the next few hours. Y/N was kindhearted and always put everyone else's needs before her own, she strived to please and help people and nearly always connected with her patients regardless of age or gender. She was one of the favourites in the hospital and the town, she was the innocent and friendly girl that everyone liked even though she barely talked to many in the town itself.
***
Klaus made his way down the empty halls, whistling a tune quietly to himself as he walked towards the room where they kept the blood bags; he stopped in his tracks and peered into a room filled with beds and listened to a woman.
"When I was your age I already had my third child on the way and I was married to my childhood sweetheart, look this was them".
Klaus looked further into the room and saw the old woman laid in her hospital bed while showing some pictures to a young nurse. The younger of the two sat and smiled while looking through them, she listened intently and was deep in conversation with the elder, showing complete and utter interest in her history. Niklaus smiled slightly at the unexpected sight as it was rare to see a nurse or doctor really care about their patients past instead of just wanting them well again and gone out of the hospital as soon as possible. He stood and listened for a long while completely forgetting his reason for being there, the young nurse gossiped about how busy her life was with her job and nothing else and talked about how the older woman's children never visited. For some reason it warmed his heart seeing that the beautiful, young woman would sit and talk to her patients, especially seem as many were elderly and never got visitors. Many probably would never even leave the hospital at that point. The hybrid wasn’t the kind to care for the life of humans or anyone really other than himself but for some strange reason that woman perked his interest, he was taken back by just how sweet she seemed and he was determined to find something wrong with her that would prove she wasn’t all that sweet. His interests were quickly disrupted as his phone buzzed in his pocket
'Klaus, where are you? It would be wonderful if you could get your arse back here with the blood bags'.
"You know, you shouldn't really be lurking outside of peoples doors at this time of night, you could scare someone" a woman laughed and caught Klaus off guard as he was too busy replying quite rudely to the recent text. "Are you here visiting someone?"
"Yes, I was just leaving actually" he replied after a moment of staring "sorry for the intrusion...."
"Y/N Y/L/N" she filled in the silence as he waited for her to speak
"Lovely name. Klaus Mikaelson" he shook her hand and walked away as he headed towards the room he was originally going before he heard a chuckled behind him
"You know, the exit is that way, right?" Y/N pointed down the hall to the way Klaus had just come and he laughed to himself
"yeah, I just need to do something first"
"Well, Klaus Mikaelson, I cant just have you wa-" her sentence was cut off as a buzzer rang through the hall to alert her one of the patients needed her. Y/N looked back up the hall and the mysterious man was nowhere to be seen, her brows furrowed in confusion but wasted no time concerned over it as she made her way to another patient.
***
The original stuffed a few blood bags into a duffle bag he had brought with him and shut the fridge door quietly. Klaus moved aside a few of the shutters and looked up to the night sky and saw the moon was making its way down again meaning it was in the very early hours of the day. His mind wandered back to Y/N and he wondered how long she must have been working that particular shift, he walked and paid no attention as he sent a text to let the others know he had what he came for
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry” a soft voice yelped as he quickly caught the woman by her arm, she tumbled back after she walked straight into his chest. “Oh, Klaus? I thought you had left?”
“I forgot my phone” he waved his phone side to side with a charming smile and wiped the front of his shirt “well, I was wanting a cup of coffee, so thanks for that”. Her eyes became alert as she noticed she has spilled her beverage all down the front of the man’s shirt, she immediately set the cup down and grabbed a handful of napkins and began to rub the coffee from his clothing. Y/N promptly realised that it wouldn’t clean off his shirt and instead she was just rubbing his chest as he smiled down at her, slowly a red hue crept along her face as she looked directly at him for a moment
“Oh, sorry!” She briskly removed her hand and turned away to throw away the stained napkins into the trash
“Oh, don’t worry love, I really didn’t mind”. Klaus adjusted the bag on his shoulder and looked at the watch on his wrist “how long have you been working? If I may say in the politest possible way, you look exhausted” her laugh echoed lowly through the lonely corridors and she looked at her small pocket watch
“well, Mr Mikaelson, if you must know I am on hour fourteen of my twelve hour shift”. Klaus’ eyebrows knit together with a slight head tilt as he looked the smaller individual up and down
“Surely that is not good for you, why is no one else here?” His voice housed genuine concern and slight annoyance to why a hospital would leave a ward with only one person to supervise, he was almost sure that broke some law.
“I’m used to it, on quite days they usually place staff to floors that need them more” her hand brushed back through her messy hair “I’ll get to definitely leave at six, that’s when someone else’s shift begins”.
The man almost felt sorry for Y/N but he stopped himself, he didn’t want to care but his mouth seemed to disconnect from his brain for a moment
“Well then, allow me the pleasure of keeping you company until that hour arrives” her head shook from side to side as she giggled
“No, I’m sure you have some place to be or at least home to sleep. Thank you for the very formal.... request?”. Klaus sat on one of the chairs and crossed his arms with a smug look across his face to disclose to her that he planned on going nowhere, instead of arguing she nodded and sat besides him as she sipped on her coffee. The next two hours went by hastily as the two chatted none stop, Klaus found out a lot about her life as she did his, he told her as much as he could that didn’t hint to him being a thousand year old immortal. The man couldn’t turn up one thing wrong with her which displeased him because he was sure no one could be that kind and loving just out of the goodness of their own heart, but she was. Y/N was different. Y/N was truly a beautiful human and Klaus was glad he had the pleasure of being able to meet and befriend her.
Summary:
Noctis fell head over heels for you. He wanted to hold you lose and never let go, but he found out about his engagement early close to graduation of high school. with the fall of insomnia he cant stop thinking about you.
You sighed sitting back on you’re couch in your apartment. Today was one of the only days off you got. Tired and stressed you needed some time to calm down maybe just surf the channels in nice cozy pajamas. Sitting there with a small meal you thrown into the microwave and nuked it to have it nice and hot. Leaning on your head as you flipped through the channels on the TV bored.
Flipping though you paused hearing something that caught your attention. A Name that’s always floating around the city and sighed some feeling you’re heard ache. They started to talk about the engagement between Prince Noctis and Princess Luna. you leaned on the armrest of the touch watching and listening feeling you’re head slowly come undone. With a huff you shut the t.v off letting the remote fall into your lap. Suddenly the food sitting on your coffee table didn’t look so good anymore. Picking it up walking to the kitchen you’re phone pinged in the living room. Placing the plate down on the counter you almost dragged you’re feet to pick it up. In big bold letters was the name of a sender as well as a image attachment. “PROMPTO >w he was one of the few people you kept in touch with as well as Ignis. You came to know the others pretty well when you dated Noctis back in high school.
Tapping his name it went into the messages opening up a picture of Prompto sitting in a car with gladio behind him giving a thumbs up and a smile. Under it is said.
“First time out of the City, it’s so HOT” with a laugh you replied back to him telling him not to get burned before placing it down. You don’t know what you would do without him. He stayed at your side when you broke up with the prince. Stayed you’re best friend and also helped keep in touch with the others.
You’re mind started to wonder with the silence in your apartment as you tapped your chin looking at your phone. Wait.. why was Prompto outside of the city? Going back into your messages you send a message to Prompto again.
“Prom, why are you outside the city? Isn’t it just full of danger out there?” you walked to the couch sitting down looking at the phone waiting for him to reply to you but it took some time. With a huff you leaned on your arm again with a sad look in your eyes. You didn’t have many friends but them and if Promp was outside of the city who would stop over and bring ice cream and watch a few seasons of that show with you know.
“Prompto? Are you alright? You have been staring at your phone for a while not doing anything” Ignis spoke up glancing over from the front seat of the regalia with an eyebrow raised at the blond boy who looked distressed. Reaching back as Noctis handed him a can of Ebony he took a sit before placing it down in one of the cup holders.
“Oh, it’s just a friend im talking with they are upset because i’m not going to be in the city for a while.” he smiled tapping away on his phone again.
“A lady friend? Oh Prompto did you score a girl?” Gladio chimed in with a large grin on his face reaching over to mess up the blonds hair. Prompto swatted at his Gladios hand with a shout for him to stop. Noct laughed seeing the distress of his friend leaning on his hand.
“No, it’s nothing like that Gladio, it’s y/n, she had the day off today so i was texting her.” Promp said with a small smile on his face before seeing Noct in the corner of his eye raise his eyebrows for a moment only to turn away in the car losing that smile that was once plastered on his face.
“Oh, yea i remember her, from you and Nocts high school right? Tell her i said hi, i haven’t talked to her in a long time, i think it was when i walked in Nocts apartment when they-”
“Gladio, let’s not bring that up” Noct growled some with a blush creeping on his face. Gladio gave a chuckle as he leaned back in his seat.
“Ah, i remember y/n, she is a very kind person.” ignis said moving his right hand to his face to push his glasses back. “How has she been doing prompto? If i remember correctly last time we talked she was busy with her new job” Prompto gave a nod as he typed away on his phone again with a slight smile on his face.
It was a few days that passed around 4 days at max. You walked around the streets of insomnia. Come to find out Prompto really couldn’t tell you why they left the city, other than that they are going on a small road trip before Nocts wedding and things are running smooth. You liked to head out on these walks from time to time. Taking in the air of the city you come to love around you. You didn’t pay much attention to the news these past few days mostly because they talked about nothing but the wedding between Noct and Luna. today there was going to be something going down at the Citadel. Something large as some of the roads had cars drive by with guards and even more people walked to the place as you walked the other direction. With a roll of you e/c colored eyes you kept on your walk. You phone went off again and smiled seeing Proms face light up on the screen. Answering your phone you smiled.
“Hey Prompto”
“Y/n! Oh it’s so good to hear you!” he shouted. There was some mumbling in the background followed by him saying your name and a loud voice yelling hello and a more calmer voice with a accent calling hello as well. “You hear them y/n?”
“Yea i heard them tell them i said hi as well” with some mumbling of Prompto he started to talk again. You listened to him coming to a bench sitting down looking up at a large tree that was above you shading you from the harsh light of the sun. with laughs and thing you could hear something in the background that made your heart skip a beat. He was with them. Noctis.Prompto grew silent when he noticed you didn’t answer him anymore.
“Hey, Y/n? Are you okay” he asked with concern in his voice.
“Yea.. im fine just got lost in thinking for a moment, now what about this Cindy girl again? You forming a crush or something?” you smiled hearing him shout embarrassed for a moment and started to talk about her. You sat there for almost a hour when a loud sound was over head. Confused you got up from the bench you sat on moving away from the tree to look over it. Large ships in the air moved closer and closer to the center of the city with sudden loud sounds coming from the city. Eyes wide you gasped.
Prompto called your name a few times before pulling the phone away from his ear and raised an eyebrow looking at it. The others turned to face him confused on his expression and why he said your name. Noct turned from the fishing pole in his hand from where he was standing on the dock tilting his head confused.
“Everything okay?” he asked. Prompto shrugged looking at the phone before placing it down on the dock next to him.
“I think her phone died” he said looking at the others who sat around on the dock letting the price have his time to fish and pass some time before they got on the boat and left to get Noctis married. The guys didn’t think much into it as they went on about their day. Noct was having this feeling crawling up his neck and he didn’t like the feeling of it. Something was kinda off with how Prompto suddenly lost connection to you, as well as Prompto he thought he could hear something in the background of the phone call but didn’t put to much thinking into it as he started to play kings knight.
When the morning rolled around and the guys learned about the fall of insomnia. Noctis was on end. He was mad about everything almost sitting in the seat of the regalia tapping his foot holding his head. Everyone ran through his head, his father, a few friends, staff he came to know and trust but mostly you came into his mind. Someone he still had deep deep feelings for, someone who took his breath away everytime he would see you around the city.
Fighting his way to the over hand of the city he felt tears sting the corner of his eyes wanting to let them spill as he watched his city go up in flames and crumble. The area around them filled with the enemies. He wanted to scream he wanted to hit something he held a large amount of pent up anger. Having his phone call with Cor. he walked away from the guys with Cor still on the line glancing back at them.
“Cor… did, did you see her around the city when you left? Did you see her at all?” Cor was silent and sighed
“Just come to Hammerhead i will be waiting for you guys there” and with that Cor hung up his phone. Looking at his phone he took a deep breath and turned to prompto. “Prom i need your phone for a moment” he did not question him handing it over. Scrolling though the names on there he started to call your number, but nothing nothing but your voicemail, hearing your voice made the tears fall from his eyes as he hung it up rubbing his face turning to place Proms phone in his hands.
“We need to head to hammer head, Cor’s there and waiting for us.” Noct said his voice was low and almost too quiet to hear him. With a nod they turned back heading back for the car.
You woke up with a horrible feeling in your head and stomach.
“Now, hold on a moment” a female voice said it was slightly far away but still close by to hear. Blinking a few times the room was dark you where in. a throbbing pain in your head forced you to close your eyes again and listen to them as you’re whole body started to hurt.
“Cor, if you think you’re gonna drop someone off and leave you need to at least tell me why” a older males voice said that was more rough. Cor, Cor.. you had hurd that name before, but where? Where did you hear it before? Trying to think for a while as you blocked out there conversation before it clicked. Cor Leonis, or Cor the immortal. You had seen him a few times at the princes apartment to get him for things as well as take you and Noct places when Noct wanted to go on a date a few times.
“Just remember, to tell him where to find me” Cor said with his steps fading as he walked away. Forcing yourself to sit up you held your head as a wave of nausea hit you making you hold your stomach.
“Ah, you up, be careful now you’re got pretty banged up there” the female said in a country accent coming over to her. Blonde hair and some grease and oil covered some of his face and her blonde hair from under a red had was also covered in it.
“You are you?” you asked with confusion looking at her. She gave a smile to you sitting down next to you.
“Names Cindy, and over there is Paw Paw or Cid” that named ringed a small bell in the back of your mind but you couldn’t think on why. You sat there for a moment looking at her before it clicked. Was this the Cindy Prompto talked about? The “Grease monkey goddess” he called her.
“Cindy, do you know a Prompto?” her eyes seemed to light up with a nod from her.
“I do!, Prompto the blond with a bright smile on his face who carries a camera around with him everywhere, yep he friends with the Prince” you have a nod but sighed as a throbbing came back to your head again making you lay back down.
“You better get some rest, Cor brought you in with a nasty cut on your head, get some sleep for know alright?” with a nod you didn’t fight her lying there as everything came and hit you at once. Insomnia..  The attack… a wave of emotions hit you at one feeling tears form in the corner of your eyes. Everything was gone.. Maybe even some of your family was gone as well. Letting yourself cry you welcomed sleep as it overtook you tears drying on your face.
Noct sighed looking at hammer head as he seen Cindy standing outside talking to Cid. Ignis pulled in parking the car and got out with the guys, well Noctis sat there for a while before finally getting out himself silent and seeming to shrink as he stood there. Letting the guys ask about Cor Cid talked to him about where Cor was and things before looking over at Cindy.
“Cindy.. Do you want to tell them?” Cid asked from his chair placing the picture down of him and the others in it. Cindy gave a nod and opened her mouth but shut it. Before opening it again.
“Prince, there is someone for you to see, here let me go get them” she smiled before leaving to get you. You where sitting at a small table poking at your food in the diner and stopped seeing Cindy wave you over. “Come on, there is someone for you to see” confused you placed the fork down on the side of the plate waving at Taka before you left the diner. Following behind Cindy you messed with the bandage on your arm from a large cut that was starting to heal. Cindy stepped into the garage first and smiled backing up some as you turned the corner playing with the bandage still. Hearing a gasp you looked up and your heart skipped a beat. There was Noctis, as well as the others covered in dirt.
“Y/n” if fell from Nocts lips as his heart fluttered seeing you. Seeing you bandaged up with a slight mess of you’re clothing he felt tears form in the corner of his eyes as he rushed to you. You stood there frozen not sure what to do, as well as what to say. Feeling his arms wrap around you was you’re breaking point. Letting your head fall on his shoulder you left the tears free and started to sob into him. He was here, alive safe. Noct didn’t move away but let you cry into his shirt as you hid your face some in his jacket. His face was buried into your h/c/ hair holding you tight he kissed the top of your head.
“I thought i lost you” he mumbled next to your ear. Standing there with him you came back to your mind and went to move away some with a sniffle looking away.
“Im sorry… but Luna-”
“The weddings off” Noctis said in a hard time looking down at your e/y colored eyes. Moving his hand to the corner of your face he started to wipe away the tears that rolled down your face.
“I cant let you go y/n” he sighed pulling you back into his arms. “And i don’t ever want to let you go again” he said into you’re shoulder holding you close. Looking your arms around him tears started to flow again as he held you. You didn’t want to let him go, and you never had to anymore. He would let you go again.
Kai Parker x Reader word count : 2 045 summary : Kai and Reader meet in NYC during the summer vacation. He falls in love with her but never tells her , and he is even more surprised at the end when he figures out who she really is. *gif by lightwoodxalec ____________________________ The beginning of June … Kai never imagined how good life can be. After he got his freedom , making a deal with Bonnie to siphon away the spell he put on her and Elena linking them together , he had spent the past 20 somewhat years travelling the world and experiencing the good life. He had the chance now and wasn’t planning on wasting it. Every year he lived in a different city , experiencing life to the fullest. This year he had decided to live in New York City and it was there where he met her. She was walking down the street , coffee to go from Starbucks in one hand and her phone in the other , not looking where she was going. Kai had been distracted himself with his phone in his hands as well. Its been years and he still loved social media as much as when he had first discovered it after getting out of 1994. “OH God , I am so sorry.” the girl apologised for bumping into him. Kai looked up from his phone meeting the girls eyes ready to scold her for not watching where she was going but instead he froze on the spot. She smiled nervously at him , pushing away a strand of hair from her face , only moments later realising she had spilled her coffee on her clothes. She was wearing black ripped in the knees skinny jeans , a white top with print (now covered with coffee stain) and a black / white plaid shirt. “Ugh … Now I have to go get a new one.” she muttered under her breath. “Why are you apologising ? It wasn’t your fault , not completely anyways.” Kai said smiling at her. He couldn’t put his finger on ‘why’ he liked her instantly but he did. There was something different about her. Kai took off his jacket giving it to her to cover up. “Here , take my jacket. It works with your outfit anyways…” “Thanks” she said awkwardly. “I’m Y/N by the way.” “Kai.” he said. “You know I live near by , sort of , you can come and change there , I am sure there will be at least one thing in my closet you can borrow…” Y/N shifted nervously on her feet shaking her head. “I shouldn’t … “ “I promise I am not some psycho or anything ..” he said finishing his sentence in his mind ‘not any more at least.’ Y/N nodded. “Oh-kay. Thanks.” They walked mostly in silence towards his apartment, navigating through small streets avoiding the large boulevards. “Are you from New York ?” she asked. “You seem to know this town very well. To me it just seems like a giant maze or something. It’s so easy to get lost here.” Kai walked quietly for a moment , feeling nervous all of the sudden. He had met many people during the past 2 decades but none of them were like her , he could just feel it. He never liked anyone and if anyone ever tried to stand in his way , that someone usually ended up a meal. “Um , no. Its a recent thing. I spend a lot of time travelling.” “Are you an actor or something ? You sure have the looks for it … and you look strangely familiar.” she trailed off. Kai glanced at her ,knowing for sure he’d recognise her if they had met before. Her long brown hair in waves and her big blue eyes just like all her features were unforgettable. They reached his apartment building and walked in , climbing to the 5th floor. “I don’t think so , no.” said Kai unlocking his apartment door , letting her walk inside first. “I’ll be right back. Any shirt colour preferences ? Girls usually have those about everything - clothes , shoes , ice cream , phone covers ….” Y/N laughed. “I am not like that. Whatever works for you , really.” “Oh-kay.” Kai disappeared into his bedroom for a few minutes before coming back with a couple of  t’-shirts in his hands. He gave them to her , pointing to his bedroom if she wanted to change in there. Y/N took the shirts and went inside , quickly pulling her top off before putting on one of the white shirts on. It was a little bigger for her but somehow worked , the soft material gently brushing on her skin. Y/N walked out with her stained top / plaid shirt in her hand , fixing her hair as she walked with the other. “Thank you … Kai , was it ? Its really nice of you to do all this but … I dont want to impose or bother you in any way.” she laughed nervously. “You are not bothering me in any way. Do you want some coffee or a bagel or coffee and a bagel ?” Kai got up quickly from the couch taking the clothes from her hands and heading for the laundry machine. He didn’t want her to leave , all he wanted was to spend a little more time with her. He couldn’t understand why , but he liked her instantly. Y/N smiled shaking her head. “I must be dreaming or something. No one is that nice.” she muttered to herself. Kai smiled to himself. If she only knew … “So what brings you to the big apple ? Job ? Family ? …. Boyfriend ?” he asked curious while pouring a cup of coffee for her , hoping it wasn’t the last option. “None of the above. It’s the summer vacation before my senior year in high school. Thanks.” she said taking the cup from Kai. “I just had to get away from my hometown. My parents were driving me nuts…asking questions ‘where are you going next year ; you cant put off the decision anymore’ and I just bailed without telling them.” she laughed nervously. “I was actually texting my dad when we bumped into each other … he was furious.” Kai suppressed a smile.” OH I know a thing or two about dads being furious…. Sure he’ll forgive you. Mine never did , then again I did something worse than running away…“ Y/N looked at him curious wondering what could Kai have done that had been so bad. He seemed beyond nice to her. Not many people would welcome a stranger into their home. Part of her wondered if she should’ve said ‘no’ to his offer instead but inexplicably she felt a connection to him , like they know each other from somewhere. They spent the rest of the day together talking. Later on Kai drove her back to her hotel , exchanging numbers and agreeing to meet for coffee the next day. He was charming , funny and his smile was enough to get her to fall for him. Being around him was as easy as breathing and Y/N liked him pretty much instantly. She wanted to get to know him more. Kai and Y/N spent most of the summer together. He even invited her to stay over at his apartment instead of spending money on a hotel , insisting she takes the bedroom after she had agreed to stay at his place. But the summer went by too fast… and Y/N had to leave to go back and finish her senior year. They spent their last day together in NYC at Central Park , walking around and talking. He watched her feed the ducks , chased her around the park , took pictures together. Kai even used his magic when she wasn’t looking making sure every detail of the day was perfect. “Where are you going ?” he asked , dropping her off at the bus station. In all their time together , the subject had never come up. They mostly talked , went for walks or bike rides or to the movies. Kai hadn’t even realised when he had fallen in love with her. Was it the time she crashed her bike and had a nasty fall resulting in a concussion or was it the time she had a nightmare and sneaked onto the couch with him into the middle of the night? He didn’t know , all he knew is for the first time ever he felt strong something for someone. “Virginia. A dusty old town called Mystic Falls.” she said. Kai froze on the spot. Of all places it had to be Mystic Falls. “My dad’s going to pick me up , don’t look so worried. Its a small town , nothing bad ever happens there. And ..  you can come visit me any time. In fact …” she said snatching his phone from his pocket.“That’s my address…OH and if my dad answers the door - do not tell him we lived together this summer. He is so annoyingly over protective , sometimes I just wish he never … Hey , are you OK ? You look all pale all of the sudden.” Kai was starring at the address Y/N had typed on his phone. He knew that address. It was the address of the Salvatore Boarding House which meant he knew who her parents were. How hadn’t it hit him earlier. She looked so much like her mother - her hair , her slim physique , except for the eyes - she had her father’s eyes. “Sorry , low blood sugar I guess… “ he said awkwardly , putting his phone back in her pocket before pulling her in for a hug.  Kai didn’t want to let go off her , knowing he’d probably never see her again. His heart broke at the thought and he felt his eyes water. “I’ll miss you Y/N. More than you can imagine… and I’ll never forget you or any moment we spent together. I’ll always remember you…” Y/N pulled away more confused than ever. “You are talking as if we’ll never see each other again. Its scaring me…  We will meet again.” she wiped a tear from his cheek. Kai never cried , he hated tears … she knew that much. Something must’ve gone wrong but she had no time to ask him about it then and there. The bus driver called out all passangers for Virginia and she had to go. “One more for the road?”  Y/N said waving her phone in the air. “Sure.” Kai said leaning in for their last selfie together. “You will send it to me right ? As a keepsake …” “Of course , just like I always do.” The bus driver called out again and Y/N gave him a kiss on the cheek and one last awkward hug before picking up her suitcase and heading towards the bus. “I’ll miss you more than words.” she said turning to take one last look at Kai. “I’ll miss you more.” he said smiling before wiping another tear from his cheek. Kai watched her get on the bus , waiting for the moment the vehicle disappeared from view before heading home , wishing he could change his past and be with her. There was no way her parents would agree for him to even look at her let alone let them be together. His phone buzzed and Kai quickly pulled it out of his pocket , taking a look at the screen - just as Y/N had promised , their last picture together was attached to her email along with a message.“See you soon , Malachai.” followed by a winky emoji.It took him a moment to realise he had never told her his full name. Kai turned around glancing at the bus in the distance with a mix of surprise and confusion on his face. “What … How .. ?!” Kai wanted .. no he needed to know , but he knew this conversation he’d have to have in person. He went back to his apartment quickly packing his things before going on the road again. This time … to Mystic Falls , after the girl who awoke something in him he never knew was there… After the girl he inexplicably and irrevocably fell in love with. _________________ MASTERLIST March / April 2017 MASTERLIST MAY 2017 ___________________
