I think fans want Jason to be a good person or be becoming one. To have a character that is well meaning and compassionate but decided murder is ok and to stand against main heroes who’s beliefs and actions go against the people he cares about and wants in his life. It’s confusing for people. People want their fav characters to be happy. But Jason can’t have his family’s support and follow his moral code. He’s cares about people and Gotham, and he’s an asshole who kills. It’s messy. It’s not black and white. I don’t even think Jason cares about being a good person or in the right anymore. I think he cares about what will save the most people instead.

Oh my goodness gracious I’ve been bamboozled

Batman’s definition of Good is not synonymous with absolute good/right no matter how much dc insists it is. Torture, battery/assault, surveillance, those are all condemnable actions too. I won’t get into the exhausting and frankly dumb debate of comic book morality wrt killing because I’ve already reblogged plenty of posts from other people who explained my thoughts on the matter far better than I ever have the patience to sit down and articulate. I also just think the notion that there’s something to be done about fictional characters who kill nazis and senseless murderers is stupid. Jason’s point is that the “main” heroes’ sanitized definition of right has its unaddressed holes and flaws which ultimately result in more preventable fatalities, and that he’ll work to correct those missing spots.

He doesn’t not care about doing what’s right. What he doesn’t care about (at least during his Winick characterization) is whether Batman thinks he’s right or wrong, because he sees the flaws in Batman’s methodology (and since he has a mind of his own). Batman’s methods alone cannot address Arkham’s revolving door and the rogues that come and go through those doors who have no intention (or capability from the doylist pov) of ever changing or undergoing redemption. Jason knows that he’s minimizing the number of preventable deaths by killing his targets, typically Characters Who Simply Do Fucked Up Shit Just Because, Why The Fuck Not?

Secondly, Jason is compassionate … to a fault. That was his fatal flaw. If he wasn’t so hell-bent on saving his potential birth mother he just met from that bomb despite everything she did to him prior, he could have protected himself instead, however slim his odds of survival were. What about his relationship with his other parents? He was a caregiver during his early childhood years for Catherine, until her death. Even mature adults who are financially stable find being a caregiver to a dying parent to be extremely burdensome on their bodies and minds, but he never complained about it or resented Catherine for being unable to care for him. Despite how none of his parents have really been what he needed them to be, he doesn’t blame them for their failings, and even continues to think highly of them (Bruce included).

And post-death? Enter Lost Days. Despite being dead set on plotting his revenge on Bruce, he constantly sidelines this in order to save other victims who are helpless like he once was. His own anger, trauma, and mission don’t remain his priority. (Sound familiar? Something something my own trauma above my son’s, mission above all else, etc.). Why would he waste precious time and risk his own life to do this if he wasn’t empathetic towards these victims or didn’t care about doing the right thing. He is simultaneously horribly traumatized and full of rage, and also incapable of ignoring what’s happening to victims around him (even as he claims that it’s indeed not his priority). And in that same vein, the entire premise of his rebirth outlaws run was that he doesn’t care if the public views him as a villain, an outlaw, so long as he can protect Gotham. And anyway where is this portrayal of him not caring about being in the right anymore. Almost every modern Jason story is about him grappling with where he stands with Bruce/Batman. During the early 2000s was probably the last time he did not care (hello, tentatodd??).

Jason has very evidently been portrayed as a kind and compassionate character. He is also simultaneously a calculated killer who doesn’t hesitate to kill when he deems necessary, and does so without remorse. It’s called being a Complex Character With An Edge™ that as you said, people so often claim to love. However when he fulfills that latter part, that seems to upset people because “killing bad”, and they then try to shave off and round out all his edges and claim he shouldn’t be that angry. In that case I guess you should just stick to liking traditional one-dimensional characters instead of claiming to like Jason but then encouraging his character assassination attempt by dc. Lol.

Lastly, who said anything about the batfam making Jason happy? Just because he’s written nowadays to want acceptance from Bruce (a shoddy attempt at forcing a non-existent nuclear batfamily), doesn’t mean that it’s a sound decision or that it does his character justice. I certainly don’t empathize with the idea that Jason needs the family’s approval or acceptance to be happy. (And anyway he has enough outlets for angst and pain aside from the batfam hello explore his other sources of trauma and do more deep dives into how he thinks when he’s alone). I don’t want them to magically make up and become one big happy family. This is not disney Lol. Besides, there are plenty of stories from dc that have that type of “wholesome” (hate that word utilization) characterization for Jason (Li’l Gotham, Tiny Titans, wfa, and even new stuff like the brave and the bold mini) and that is sufficient imo. Jason fans who are invested in the character deserve accurate, nuanced characterization and well-written stories, whether they be from his robin days (e.g., Batman: The Cult) or as red hood.

summary: meet jinx, gotham’s loudest, most explosive villain. no one knows who they really are, or if jinx is really even their name. but one thing’s for sure — they’ve got a lot of people chasing after them and their reasons aren’t so noble.

Considering Jinx was inspired by Harley Quinn. You’re probably her protégé. Her darling little child with Joker.

YOUR ORIGINS:

She saw you in the aftermath of the explosion. Cold and alone. Fire roaring behind you despite the heavens pouring its heart out, as if it was desperately trying to wash your tears and pain away.

She saw your bruises and a girl a little older than you walk away.

Her heart ached for you. No child deserved to be put in that kind of position, so she stepped in and made herself known.

“ I . . . I only wanted to help . . . Don’t leave me . . . Don’t . . .

You muttered.

Joker, who came here to marvel at the chaos such an explosion would present smiles maniacally.

You. You were the one that did this.

This beautiful wreckage and an equally beautiful child.

You were practically begging to be moulded into a weapon.

You charged at them both as they got closer, and while Harley was ready to defend her man - even hurt you if she has to - they did not expect what came next.

You just, held unto Joker’s right leg.

“ She’s not my sister . . . No . . . if she was she wouldn’t leave me . . . “

You were far too emotional for his liking. But nonetheless. A boon can always be found in a curse. That is, your desire for revenge.

He takes one look at Harley before picking your small body into his arms.

“ Who cares about fools like them, little one? They don’t matter in the grand scheme of things.”

His smile never stopped widening, yet even as a kid you never saw it as creepy or unnerving. In fact, it only reminded you of the smiles you used to draw on your nail bombs.

“All we ever truly have is ourselves. “

“So, smile. Don’t let your tears bring you down.”

Moulding you into the perfect weapon was easy.

Having a psychiatrist as a partner did help a lot in your development.

All it took was a few reminders of that fateful day before you began obediently following their rules and instructions.

You were a genius and since Harley kept protesting against it. You weren’t baptized into a vat of acid like the couple was.

Now, Harley and Joker are the worst possible parents you can ask for. So unlike Arcane’s Jinx. You are way way more unhinged. Not to mention, horny and materialistic.

As you grew up, you began to take interest in intentionally hurting people just for the sake of it. Stealing things was just a normal Tuesday for you. Being successful in your endeavors for once, and having bigger stacks of cash felt exhilarating.

The women and men were amazing. Your pseudo parents being who they were, didn’t really care if you were a sexual deviant or a pervert. When your hormones started kicking in they let you do whatever you want. Even giving you some of the people he held hostage as a toy to play with. If you have the capability of getting someone pregnant/or getting pregnant yourself they wouldn’t really care about the baby but you knew them well enough to know they’d use the kid as a way to manipulate you so you were careful in that aspect anyhow.

Harley noticed that when laying with women you’d often call out your sister’s name or call them sis by itself.

Sick. Disgusting. Is what a normal mother would think after finding out such a fact.

But to her you were just growing up so quickly. She had convinced Joker to go ahead and kill your sibling a long time ago behind your back and was growing anxious with the thought of you hating her and ruining this happy family dynamic (she had in her head)!

So she starts bringing you to more heists in disguise. Always keeping a close eye on you so that if any of those stupid heroes and vigilantes get any close, and you too far. She’d know as soon as possible.

It’s safe to say you grew up pretty spoiled, but even then you were hungry for more.

You see, even if they (Harley and Joker) weren’t careful with their “parenting” approach. They were careful with keeping you hidden from the Dark Knight himself.

Not that they were scared you’d get hurt. They could always nurse you back up again. Harley actually enjoyed the times you’d gotten in the cross fire. More time to take care of you in her arms.

They were mostly scared of the Dark Knight stealing you. Afraid that he’ll take you away and turn you into a goody-two-shoes they wouldn’t recognize anymore.

So as much as you were more involved it still felt like they were babying you.

It was your situation with you family all over again

But this time, this time you’ll show them…

You weren’t weak. And it’ll do them good to remember that.

YOUR RIVALRIES:

You made your debut at around the time Tim was still Robin.

You were his very own Joker. A menace deal with. A person that only cared for the thrill that came with hurting and killing masses.

You were terrible. Evil. A demon he had to exorcise from this world.

A demon he fell hopelessly in love with.

He didn’t know how his feelings came to be. It may have been the amount of stress and pressure he was facing coupled with having to deal with your ass every damn day whether directly or indirectly. But he found himself yearning to see you at times. Getting warm when he thought of you. He felt solace knowing that no matter how many times he’d attempt to tear you down completely, you’d still come back to face him once again.

He was so guilty of his feelings. How could he fall for someone as heinous as you? You were the worst of the worst. But somehow that made things so much more better.

You were a taboo. A vice he couldn’t have. The thought of entering such a forbidden relationship excited him just cause it was just that — forbidden , a temptation that should always stay like that.

He somehow manages to gain the self control to stay away from you for a while.

But then came Damian and he was set to replaced. Just like that.

“Wow there Timmy Boy. You look like shit.”

“J-Jinx?! Why are you here? How do you know my name?!” He asked as if he didn’t know every single detail about you himself.

“I have to know my little birdie well don’t I?”

“What kind of archnemesis would Jinx be to their little Robin if they didn’t do a lil’ research?” You spoke in a higher, cutesy voice as if you were your handgun that you’ve affectionally named Zapper.

“Right you are Zapper! I would be a terrible rival. That wouldn’t do for a hero as great as Timmy!”

He thought that all his work was all for naught. All the hours he spent trying to prove himself was gone so fast.

But you reminded him of his place in this world. Of his position as a hero. Your rival.

The warmth in your eyes when you looked at him sealed the deal. There was no coming from this. He was yours as you were his.

“Only I can hurt you like this, toots. Don’t forget that.”

Little did you know that Tim took those words to heart and never let anyone else hurt him (and stay alive).

“Big Bat can replace you but you’ll always be the Robin in my heart !” You winked at him, signaling with one of your manicured fingers for him to smile. Which ended up almost scratching your cheeks.

Tim was confused (incredibly flustered, not to mention har—), why were you so kind to him all of a sudden. He knew you were the playful type but you were usually ruthless when it came to battle. You weren’t one to play with food for too long. For you to excuse him, much less help him in such a state.

Who were you and what did you do to his Jinx?

“OW hEy! I swear if you put that there Pow-Pow— I’ll—“ Tim heard you screeching out of view.

Scratch his doubts. Yep, you were definitely still his Jinx.

The Dark Knight knew who you were from the beginning.

He had his suspicions even before you came into the scene. With your knack to tag everything with neon spray-paints.

At first he thought you were a simple thug that Joker and Harley picked up. But the way they were sheltering you made it seem otherwise.

The regret he felt knowing that you were basically a child in their filthy hands and was now far too gone to save was immense.

If only he knew. You wouldn’t be in this situation.

While he was “dead” he found himself looking into you more. About the death of your biological parents and the way your sister abandoned you to Harley and Joker.

He felt pity for your childhood and a sense of kinship. Sure the incident may have been your fault but you were a child. How could you have known your actions would have such terrifying consequences.

If only you knew him when you were younger.

If only.

He was sure you’d be one of the greatest vigilantes alive.

“I knew you were alive.”

You looked down at Batman, staring while both of you were being doused by the rain. Thunder accompanying the sound of conversation.

He takes a defensive stance.

“I’m not going to fight ya, that’s Joker’s thing. And I know he’ll grill my ass if I stole his archnemesis.”

“What a loser!”

“Hey! He took us in. We should be more grateful!”

Bruce looked at you as you talked with a new, rather large, shark shaped gun. He had memorized the names of all your “companions” by now and was oddly excited and slightly unnerved by the new one.

“So, why’d you leave? Was it . . . was it on purpose?”

“No.”

“Then come back.”

He almost dropped all his plans with the way you told him that.

“Tim needs you . . . and your other sons too or whatever.”

“Come with me.”

“You crazy, old bat? Why would I—“

“I know what it feels like to have no family. Harley doesn’t love you. Joker doesn’t love anyone.”

“Do you?”

“I do.”

“Well tough luck man. I don’t give a shit about love.”

You dropped down to his level. A thud resounds, loud enough to cut through the rainfall and thunder.

“Cause love never gave a shit about me.”

“We’ll have to refuse. Just get back to your sons, hero!”

“I’m sorry, perhaps I didn’t make it clear enough—

— I don’t think you have a choice in this matter, [Y/N].”

Joker and Martha

A friend of mine said that DC should have made Martha Wayne Catwoman instead of the Joker in Flashpoint because, it made more sense to parallel Thomas and Martha with Bruce and Selina because, of them being romantic partners but, I disagree. Martha even prior to Flashpoint had a lot of things in common with the Joker, both suffered from mental illness at a young age and were admitted to Arkham. As shown in “the Batman 2022” and “the Further Adventures of the Joker”, both completely lost their minds when they lost their child, Martha in Flashpoint and Joker in “Gotham Knights #54”,

they both love their respective Batman and constantly hurt them due to this warped sense of love Martha in “Flashpoint” and Joker in “Europa”, both self harmed themselves to prove a point to their Batman Martha in “Flashpoint” and Joker in “A Death of the Family”

both were jealous of Catwoman and shot her. Martha in “Flashpoint” and Joker in “Prelude to the Wedding”.

The only person who could make them cry was their respective Batman Martha in “Flashpoint” Joker in “Joker War” the similarities between them don’t stop there.

Both like reading in their spare time, both like purple, both have a set of pearls for special occasions, Bruce is the most important person in both of their lives, both dabble in art, both play the piano, both speak French, both had curly hair, both like to dance, both loved to go see plays, sadly both shared the same bleak philosophy of life after their child’s death.

Not only this but, the few times they met in comics the two instantly bonded. In “I am a Gun” Martha is very sympathetic with the Joker and consoles him by stating her son will help him, then encourages Bruce to do so. In “Streets of Gotham” Martha instantly takes a liking to a young Joker. She cares for him and keeps him with her at the clinic. The young Joker is so found of Martha that he risks his own life to save her and, ends up suffering a faith worse than death for doing so. As for Martha and Catwoman the only thing they have in common are the pearls Catwoman stole from Wayne Manor were originally Martha’s as seen in “Catwoman New 52”.

I love them so much y’all don’t even understand every couple of years decades really there’s a couple or on screen ship that’s so insanely good with palpable chemistry and sexual tension that my brain chemistry gets altered in way that’s not for the sane people the serotonin and buzz be so strong no dr*yg could ever make me feel that way! that even tho logically I’m my mind I know it’s just acting and they are doing their job incredibly annoyingly well I still believe it with all my heart that they are in fact dating and are happy and aren’t just saying anything because they don’t wanna let people in on their life which is fair I know it’s wrong and silly and just very dvmb bc it’s just acting very very phenomenal brilliant acting but damn and 80% of the time they were or ended up as couple later on sure few weren’t and didn’t but it all started with JD/WR BP/AJ Sandra x Keanu, Jake x Anne Kiera x James(James with anyone really Christina Anne) Anne Kiera with anyone too, Margot x Will, Ian x Nina, Sophia x Austin, Ryan x Sarah (this one hurts still bc wdym they dated longer then they was alive on the show?) sometimes the actors be doing not even a bit to much but wayyy over the board to much actually, Nicole x Micheal then came stonefiled then came Haesoo jisoo x haein and now we are here in this dilemma that should get into a psych ward next to the riddler joker and penguin with lukenewton and nicolacoughlan they are the worst too

I fight with my mind constantly telling myself it’s just acting then I be like really is it? Is it really just acting that kinda of unhinged chemistry brilliance cant just be acting it’s to much to be acting only😂! be careful the brain plays tricks on you and so the actors bc to them it’s just a job while to others(me) it’s a straight jacket signs and mental illness signs! Clear sign of breakdown

But it’s not even just Paris that’s debunked tkkrs, in 2019 bonvoyage jungkook said he didn’t see anyone besides jimin and jhope during their break, in 2020 jungkook said there was a side of things with taehyung that had become awkward and that he’s the one member he couldn’t have a deep conversation with but during that whole ITS exchange what made it more evident was jimin helping tae to get jungkook because he was the thing that probably brought them together and encouraged it because he loves his bandmates- another thing about the whole situation was jungkook wasn’t even bothered much by their lack of interactions because if he felt threatened about their bond being broken he would’ve done something (I don’t mean that he didn’t care because he cared enough to notice and be there and actively communicate with one of his now closest friends) like he did with jimin when they got into that fight and mind you they were wayyy wayyy younger then. But the thing that debunked them the heaviest was taehyung when he told them to get out of their imagination- and in such a hostile tone too. The cult are mentally ill and ignorant and everybody knows that so f**k those jikookers engaging in their bs but most of all f**k that hitler sympathising bitch kati who started this all.

Honestly the only people who take Tuktukkers seriously at all are trolls and insecure jokers who I think are equally just trolls on the internet.

For Tuktukkers they know they are out of the game so their last hand is to try to disprove jikook by alleging Jk is straight or that Jimin is gay for someone else. They giving if I'm going down I'm taking yall with me.

The narrative that majority of jokers are Jimin biased was always so funny to me. I still have my old jikook account and when I checked it I saw how many of them had Seven above Lc on their Spotify wrapped and Lc was released much earlier.

If they were Jimin biased they wouldn’t be jokers anymore. Look at Jimin biased armys, many of them ar starting to speak up about the unfair treatment while jokers are whining because we don’t like Jungkook and his privilaged ass.

Jimin biased jikookers have been mass leaving the ship since 2018 because of the Japan issue.

2020 2021 2022 taekook being in their honeymoon era.

Jikookers are mad pjms don't kiss their asses, that's it. They want pjms to be their allies and they literally beg for pjms validation all the time.

weird personal rambling on kizashige

don’t want to talk about this on twitter or anything but I’ve mentioned on there about making a fangame focusing on kizashige and I have been taking that seriously. so I’ve been busy with that but it’s honestly one of the most difficult things I’ve ever tried to work on.

it’s difficult to put my view on morishige and kizami’s characters into words because my interpretation of them is very personal, I don’t think those interpretations even come through in my art. but trying to write them in this project has lead me to reflect a lot on what I get out of them and corpse party as a whole, and what I have for years at this point. I always got something so specific from corpse party that I’m not sure if anyone else has before (and I’m just assuming here.) it’s cheesy to say I got into corpse party when I needed to, that it’s almost like a coping mechanism for me, an escapism, but it’s true.

being into a... crack ship? a ship where they interacted like twice? for years at this point makes me look like an insane person, but whatever I got from seeing kizami and morishige as two mentally ill teenagers finding solace in this place where they no longer have to deal with or even revel in the ostracization they experienced in their normal lives means a lot to me.

I make so many jokes about morishige having ocd on twitter that I got an ask about it once. and I had this entire thing written out about how I actually view his whole character more as a metaphor for it-- he ruminates on his actions as part of his internal conflict, and it really resonated with me as someone suffering from “pure o” ocd. but the moment I wrote that, it felt like I was admitting to something so heinous and awful that I couldn’t bring myself to finish that ask. which is just the nature of having ocd. the nature of having a disorder where you question yourself and your morals on a near constant daily basis, and I saw that in morishige really heavily. and delving into those similar feelings as part of my interpretation of him is kind of harrowing.

even kizami, when you grow up with schrodinger’s mental illness with a family who are not prepared to deal with it in the slightest and either see you as a threat for the rest of your life or want to pretend everything is completely fine, it’s honestly really relatable, it’s realistic, and I feel for him a lot. I don’t care about the intention behind his character, there’s a lot of problems I have with it, but it’s not where I want to get rid of it. I would just want to write it differently. I want kizami to reflect on why he wanted an escape from himself through yuka, on him suddenly holding this ideal of taking care of someone, probably because he wanted that for himself deep down.

they’re both so traumatized. and this idea of heavenly host as this place where that trauma comes out full front and center-- kizami killing all his friends because he just couldn’t ever believe in being accepted by anyone, morishige desecrating corpses as a twisted form of pity onto them-- both acting out through some strange type of revenge against the people around them, either directly or indirectly. all because of the alienation they both felt were inherent to them because they aren’t, and couldn’t, be normal.

that they allowed themselves to succumb to this, not only reading it as them giving into their darkest desires, a typical corruption storyline, but also reading their character arcs as their struggles with neurodivergency, masking, the exhaustion that results when you’re good at it, and the frustration when you aren’t, only leading them to those breakdowns. it’s a joker arc. and I love it. and I want them to experience it together. I want them to be murder husbands killing other people and each other bfs but it’s also about a mutual understanding from their struggles with themselves and how they’re perceived by others, and throwing away all of that together.

kizami and morishige are already mirrors of each other; where kizami is someone who’s able to present himself as this normal, good guy, is respected and acknowledged by his peers because of it, an honor student with ties to the student council, he’s involved in so much and with so many people. but he hates it all deep down. and morishige being this loner, this loser, who can’t lie, can’t save face, is too honest, and is disliked by everyone because of it. and what does morishige do about it? nothing. nothing but become even more of a judgmental asshole who no longer tries because he’s over it. yet he still complains about his lack of acknowledgement and how he really does wish he could just be in the spotlight.

whether they could have respected each other for their different approaches, being what the other could be, or just want to go crazy and letting go of that together, I just. it’s cathartic. I wish I could bring that out in my writing. I’m sick of rambling. I wish they were in love. I need to be put on antipsychotics again.

I’m an adult character kind of guy so there’s limits to how much I can care. I will say I like him more than the average class 1 student. I personally think the ball was dropped on him because his big moment was very short and is seemingly not involved with Aizawa, but it could be turned around

I can fix him in that I can craft a storyline in my head where he is the main character instead of being relegated to cleaning cups. I can make him worse in that I want him put in bad situations. I regularly beam mental illness into his head. Even in “Shirakumo lives” AUs I want him to joker dance because he’s earned it. Also I don’t really talk about him irl because I think if I said “oh yea Kurogiri is my absolute favorite character” I would get looked at funny. I am so so so scared of the writing ball getting dropped on him

Who's Who In The DC Universe #1: Arkham Asylum, Atari Force, Atlantis

Arkham Asylum by Steve Bissette & John Totleben

Located on a wooded acre of land just north of Gotham City

Founded in 1921 by Dr. Amadeus Arkham, a vigorous social reformer, on land left to him by his mother

Amadeus’s mother suffered from mental illness

The asylum was the first facility of its kind in Gotham

Amadeus transformed his ancestral home into an asylum and staffed it with some of the most prominent psychologists and physicians of the time.

One of Arkham’s first inmates was “Mad Dog” Martin Hawkins, who had been found not guilty by reason of insanity in the murders of Arkham’s wife and infant daughters.

Dr. Arkham treated Hawkins with “great concern and compassion”, right up to Hawkin’s accidental electrocution two months after his incarceration.

In 1929, 6 days after the legendary stock crash, Dr. Arkham went berserk and was arrested when he attempted to electrocute his stockbroker. Amadeus wasn’t happy over losing his entire fortune in the crash.

Amadeus was committed to Arkham Asylum. He spent the remainder of his days carving indecipherable inscriptions on the floor of his cell while singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

Amadeus passed away in his sleep on April 7, 1963.

The Asylum wen through a series of state-appointed administrators after Amadeus’s incarceration.

The most recent was Dr. Byron Blaine, who has held the position since his predecessor was taken captive and replaced by Professor Achilles Milo, one of the Asylum’s inmates.

Other notable inmates include Two-Face, the Floronic Man, the Mad Hatter, Clayface III, Maxie Zeus, and the Joker.

Arkham Asylum debuted in the Batman comics in 1974 but has quickly become a foundational aspect of the Batman mythos. Hugo Strange, Harley Quinn, and Scarecrow all worked at Arkham Asylum in the various continuities. Numerous important storylines have taken place at Arkham, including the kickoff of Knightfall when Bane released the inmates to exhaust Batman.

I haven’t read Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum since it came out in 1989 but I think I remember the writer referencing Amadeus’s backstory. I seem to remember Mad Dog’s electrocution wasn’t so accidental after all. The Who’s Who entry (which pre-dates Morrison’s story by 4/5 years hints about the true nature of Mad Dog’s death when Amadeus attempts to electrocute his stockbroker). I don’t blame Amadeus, no one should be tasked to care for his wife and infant daughter’s murderer.

Amadeus played a background role in the Batman Arkham games when Quincy Sharpe, the Asylum’s current administrator, becomes convinced he is the reincarnation of Amadeus Arkham.

Arkham Asylum appears in all the various Bat Family titles and crossover media (cartoons, movies, video games). Notable storylines include the Arkham Asylum GN by Grant Morrison and Arkham Asylum: Living Hell. “Living Hell” isn’t as famous as Morrison’s graphic novel, but I enjoyed it. It follows a businessman who pleads insanity to avoid prison. The judge is fed up and sentences the man to Arkham. It doesn’t end well for him.

The Asylum has appeared in various non-Bat titles, including the Justice League, Justice Society, and Sandman. Arkham made appearances in the Justice League cartoon and a Suicide Squad animated movie.

Atari Force by Eduardo Barreto

Earth has been ravaged by war and ecological imbalance. The Atari Technology and Research Institute sent a specially trained crew throughout the multiverse to find a new world for humanity.

The crew found a new world after months of trials and tribulations. It was dubbed New Earth.

Twenty-five years later, the Dark Destroyer returned to menace New Earth.

Martin Chapman, one of the original founders of New Earth, founded the Atari Force to battle the Dark Destroyer.

The team is composed of Martin, his son, and members of various alien recipes.

DC issued digests in the 1980s (the size of the Archie digests you find in the grocery stores). One series of digests was devoted to the Legion of Super-Heroes (it’s how I read most of the Silver Age appearances of the Legion). Another had random reprints of various DC comics. This digest contained the only Atari Force story I have read. If you’re curious, the other stories in the digest were a Blue Devil story, the “Who Is Donna Troy” New Titans story, and the “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner” Legion story (the one where Gim introduces Yera to his parents). I don’t recall much of the Atari Force story.

Atari Force was licensed from the actual Atari company which explains why the group isn’t seen/reference anymore.

Atlantis by Marshall Rogers

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, the continent of Atlantis was one of the first places on Earth where civilization flourished. It was the most sophisticated civilization in the world, establishing twelve scattered settlement cities on other continents.

Magic was the dominant source of power in early Atlantis but science and technology gradually rose to prominence, later Atlantis combined magic with technology

Atlantis launched an exploratory spacecraft in 45,500 BC

King Thorval sent six expeditions in the 9600 BC to find alternate places for Atlanteans to live in the face of an impending natural catastrophe

One of the expeditions founded a colony in a secluded area between the earth’s surface and the hidden land known as Skartaris

Atlantis sank beneath the sea with only two of its cities surviving (Tritonis and Poseidonis)

The Atlanteans constructed protective domes around the cities and developed serums to allow underwater breathing

The citizens of Tritonis had an unexpected reaction to the serum and transformed into merfolk.

The Atlanteans developed telepathic abilities to communicate underwater. (But only Aquaman can command the creatures of the sea).

Tritonis remains secluded but Poseidonis has had more public exposure, including a major exposition held for the air-breathing people.

Remnants of the original Atlantean colony lost beneath the earth have been active again recently, attempting a takeover of Skartaris, which was thwarted by Travis Morgan (the Warlord).

Aquaman, Aquagirl, Aqualad, Arion, and Atlantis itself. Aquaman’s corner of the DC universe was features heavily in the first issue of “Who’s Who In The DC Universe”.

Atlantis has a role in all Aquaman series and other media projects. Power Girl was connected to Atlantis in a unnecessary post-Crisis retcon. Don’t worry, the retcon was also retconned and Power Girl is once again a Kryptonian. Atlantis and its citizens were featured in Infinite Crisis when an unstable Spectre unleashed his wrath on the area (he was on a rampage against magic users). DC’s Atlantis has made appearances in the Justice League cartoon, Young Justice cartoon and comic, and an animated Justice League movie.

(about Sudou and Suou)here is the thing, Sudou is completely insane cause of Nyarlathotep, he dont even know what these voices are and Suou didnt really put any effort into saving him despite knowing what Nyarl has done. I understand why the gang may not want anything to do with Sudou but again his action was not his since it was all Nyarl doing. Nyarl managed to completely breaking him and chatting with Sudou for few mins wont undo it. Sad the timid boy who wanted to be a poet got it worse.

GOD THANK YOU. I wish more fans would realize that Sudou isn't mentally ill but his "insanity" is purely the product of Nyarlathotep. Tatsuya Sudou is literally just. Some Kid. Nobody particularly special in the grand scheme of things.

He straight up says in P2EP that murder (in quite a gruesome fashion) is the only way to make the "voices" more manageable.

The extra scenario in the EP remake gives us a bit more insight into how Suou views Sudou [translation credit]:

Tatsuya: So you’re JOKER on this side… Tatsuya Sudou. Seems like something “he’d” do.

...

Sudou: I’m a stand-in, y’know, a stand-in. Just ‘til the real one graces me with his awakening. The real JOKER ain’t me. You’d know that beeeeest of all though, wouldn’t’cha?

Tatsuya: …Yeah. Jun isn’t a filthy murderer like you.

...

Tatsuya: Lay just one finger on Maya-nee and I swear I’ll hunt you down and kill you like the dog you are. Every time, in every world…!

Sudou: An’ whose fault is it that bitch died, huhh? Whose fault is it the other side got blown to hell!?

Tatsuya: Shut up…!

Suou obviously holds a lot of contempt towards Sudou, but as Sudou points out, Suou is projecting a bit.

In fact, Suou throws out another line in an attempt to reason with Suou:

Tatsuya: Sudou, it’s not too late; you can still start over. Don’t listen to “his” voice any longer…!

But like you said, a simple conversation isn't going to be enough to break Sudou from Nyarlathotep's spell.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure what would be enough in Sudou's case. Jun was able to do so because of his immense care for Maya. Kandori didn't quite escape Nyarlathotep's grasp, but he was clearly able to use his last bit of free will available in Deva Yuga to keep the true Maki, the only person he came to love in the end, safe inside the physical manifestation of his heart and desires.

Sudou... doesn't really have anyone that he cares that much about. Possibly Kashihara in the Tsumi timeline, but Kashihara was just about as insane as Sudou is and really just exploited him for what he falsely believed was the Oracle of Maia.

I really, really wish Sudou got a happier ending. Yeah, yeah, serial arsonist and murderer. Whatever. Like you said, his actions were not his own. Noriko knowingly, willingly, and without remorse contracted the murder of two people. The girl saw that the JOKER call was legit and was like "hey, lemme do that again". I do really like her character but like. I just wish Sudou was given that same leniency in the story for actions that he had no control over. He really did nothing wrong and deserved so much better.

— How can you possibly be Goro Akechi?

I am what’s called an “alter” in a multiple system, AKA (in our case) an occurrence of OSDD-1b (Otherwise Specified Dissociative Disorder). One feature of this is that the brain may use a work of fiction to base a new alter on - this is what happened in my case.

I would note that despite my neutrality on the word “alter” and my acknowledgement of the disorder aspect of this existence, not everyone in our system appreciates being referred to that way. I use the term “headmate” as well. Also, because it unfortunately has to be said out loud these days: I support all systems, not just those caused by trauma. If you disagree, fuck off ❤️

Don’t get me wrong - I acknowledge the medical/mental health aspect of this situation, but I also believe wholeheartedly that somehow, through some means inaccessible to me now, I was plucked from another world and I am now here. I arrived here in 2017 from the original version of Persona 5, so it’s that version’s events that I remember. I do appreciate it however, and I enjoy projecting myself onto it.

If you’re into the whole natural aging that’s fine. I agree that no one should have to spend their whole life constantly preening and covering themselves up in 10lbs of makeup. If they don’t want to. You’re allowed to grow your hair heart long and snarled and gray, you’re allowed to free the titties — seriously, I do that a lot. No bras or binders if I’m at home.

You could even go live in a dirt hut in the middle of the Smokey Mountains and have a mud bath.

But here’s the thing some people enjoy makeup. That doesn’t mean they wear it every day or reconstruct their face like a mask with contouring. As far as I’m concerned, those people are extremists. With probably very bad self-esteem issues.

So maybe you oughta work on building people up a bit instead of dictating their appearance, yeah?

Some people enjoy being sexualized and that includes men, women, and enbies.

And ffs do not turn this into a conversation about how problematic the character Harley Quinn is. Because she isn’t. Saying otherwise only goes to show that

You missed the entire point of Birds Of Prey and her origin story. BoP has a stronger feminist message than Captain Marvel. That message is that women should build each other up in order to take down the patriarchy. Which is why it has a reputation as “misandrist trash” among the incels.

You haven’t picked up a comic book or tuned into a Batman animated film in about 10 years. Harley is an ANTIHERO with her own set of ethically grey morals. She has been problematic in the past but she has also —

-Owned an animal shelter

-Worked as a psychiatrist while working to overcome her own mental illness

-Placed her daughter, Lucy, in her sister’s care so that the Joker would have no access to her

-Stopped the Joker from blowing up a fucking orphanage

She’s even an honorary member of the Batfam because she has helped them solve crimes. And annoyed the shit outta them in the process.

Why, because Bruce Wayne — a man who has gotten two of his children killed and doesn’t believe in therapy — has a better sense of empathy, and a better understanding of the psychological ramifications of domestic abuse, manipulation tactics, and cult brainwashing headgames than anyone

Who guilt trips people for wearing the clothing & makeup that they want to wear

And I am not intentionally sexualizing mental illness in anyone. My point is only that

The character Harley Quinn enjoys being sexualized.

Yeah, I know Margot Robbie did not enjoy it as much and that is why she was an executive producer on Birds Of Prey, and if you watch the movie you will see that Harley is a lot more covered up in BoP than in Suicide Squad 2016. In fact, one of the complaints mostly commonly mentioned in the hateful reviews for the film is that “Harley wasn’t hot enough anymore.” My own step-father said that when we walked out of the cinema, and I had to stop myself from smacking him.

Sadly, dressing in uncomfortable outfits often comes hand-in-hand with acting gigs and I think that all actors should have more say over their character wardrobes. Hollywood, however, tends disagree.

And if anyone has any objections to Pinhead’s presence, I seriously suggest you pick up a copy of Clive Barker’s Hellbound Heart.

Seriously, though, why do you think poledancing classes exist?

Do you think there are no strippers or models anywhere on this earth that don’t enjoy their work? Seriously?

Like I said, you can be into the natural aging thing.

But the second you start shaming people who aren’t into it, you become an asshole👌🏻

Sorry about the monster long essay about Harley Quinn — absolutely not the point of this post. But the second I list her as a feminist role model, my inbox gets fucking flooded with TERFy radfem bullshit.

Update on my “Persona 5″ playthrough (just finished Palace 4):

Look, I’m gonna be honest here. Even though I was looking forward to meeting Futaba Sakura (she’s the only character I knew about before I started playing the game), her palace is my least favorite so far. First off, I’m happy that the game didn’t do the gross thing and have the Phantom Thieves “steal” her mental illness in order to make her better. I was worried that was going to be the end result, especially since Atlus doesn’t handle mental health with care (see: Trauma Center).

That said, Futaba’s storyline was still a mess in my opinion. After establishing the ground rules for this world in the past three palaces, the fourth palace introduces all new rules that just overly complicate things. So, I guess the target can enter their own palace? Also, people can speak with their shadow in the real world? And one more thing; I guess the target themselves can be the treasure? If that’s the case, then some palaces can’t even be completed if the target isn’t brought inside.

I don’t mind these developments, I just wish they were explained better in the game.

And then there’s Futaba herself. It feels like the game rushed her story because she went from “I want to die because I’m the reason my mom killed herself” to “I was being gas lit this whole time!” in seconds. One, that revelation feels underdeveloped because it comes from nowhere. Two, I feel like I barely got to know Futaba, her mom, and Sojiro, despite them being the focus of this chapter. Instead, most of the storyline was centered on Medjed, this unseen foe who is just there to be the reason for the countdown of completing the palace.

I’m honestly disappointed. The past three palaces, while not being masterpieces in terms of writing, were all relatively solid. This is the first palace I’ve played where I felt the writing was lacking.

Still, I’m happy that Futaba is in the story now. Hopefully, next palace is much better?

Other observations:

1) Ryuji is a little annoying, but I’m slowly warming up to him mainly because he’s the only NORMAL one of the group. He’s the only one freaking out over the crazy things that are happening while everyone else just has these calm reactions.

2) Makoto is 100% the canon love interest. There are so many moments where she’s paired up with Joker, as if the game is pushing you to romance her. I don’t mind, it’s just funny that in a game where you can romance multiple women, there’s one girl who the game deems as the true girlfriend.

3) Yusuke’s my boy. He’s a little weird, but I like his honesty and personality. He’s kinda like Ishigami from “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War”, in that he’s the dark-haired weirdo of the group. Also, if you squint, Ishigami and Yusuke kinda look-alike. Side note, this is the second time I’ve compared a “Persona 5″ character to “Kaguya-Sama” (the first comparison I made was Makoto being similar to Kaguya herself).
