hey if you write a pattern for the chilchuck amigurumi I will buy it instantly
ive gotten multiple asks about this, so ill just answer them all here in one go.
i wrote down everything while i was working on it, but i theres some stuff that i would do diffrently and i also didnt take a lot of process pics so it wont be a full proper pattern for those reasons, but ill add all that i have under the cut!
i dont want any compensation, but if you wanna do me a favor you can donate to esims for gaza, unrwa, any of these gefundme's, or another trusted charity of your choice.
now to the pattern! i would love to see the results of anyone making a squeakychuck, feel free to tag or dm me :)
the dimensions of this depend on the size of ur squeaker and yarn, i had a 4ish cm squeaker and somewhat thick 4/8 cotton yarn (kinda 6/8ish thickness). depending on ur yarn and squeaker u might need to follow a different pattern for the body.
if youre using a different body base pattern, the tunic and blouse pattern are pretty easily adjustable. ill add some notes for that at those sections of the pattern. ill also link some videos i used at relevant sections.
if theres an Action store near where u live, see pic below for the yarn i used for the skin, reddish brown, black and light brown. i got 3 of these but 2 packs was enough. the dark brown and creme were from my stash. i also got the squeaker from a donut dog toy from Action.

abreviations list (all in us terms):
mr = magic ring sc = single crochet hdc = half dubble crochet slst = slipstitch ch = chain bobble = 5 double crochet in one stitch BLO = back loop only FLO = front loop only
what you need:
-skin color of choice yarn -creme/white yarn (normal for body, thin for blouse) -greyish creme (for boot flaps) -black yarn -dark brown yarn -light brown yarn -reddish brown yarn -green yarn -4 tiny buttons (for arm joints) -cardboard (for shoe sole -3.5mm hook -squeaker -needlefelt needle -stuffing -stitchmarker (optional, i always mark the first stitch of the round)

once again disclaimer, this is not a propper pattern, this is just what i wrote down while i was crochetting. it may not nessecarily be the best way to do it. i wanted most clothes to be removable, but you have to partially disassemble the doll if you want to remove them. if you dont like how something looks or works ur free to do whatever you want. big fan of fucking around and finding out personally.
if you have any questions feel free to dm me, might take me a while to reply though.

Arms (skin, dark brown)
i made the arms movable with button joints, but after looking at some videos i discovered that what i did is not called a button joint and i dont have a video explaining it, so i hope this drawing helps.
Tumblr media
the red bits are the buttons inside of the arms and body, and the thread (blue for clarity, i matched it w the skin) should be pulled tight and finished off with a double or tripple knot inside the body.
or you could just sew on the arms that also works. but wait with doing that until youve finished the blouse as the hands dont fit through the sleeves. i have a seperate section on assembly at the end of the pattern.
start with skin

these are removable but they dont go on easily, so you gotta patiently massage the feet in there.

switch color to greyish creme
r11-12: sc in all r13: slst, FLO sc in all r14-16: sc all slst fasten off
flip the greyish creme flap over.
blouse (thinner creme)
this is a standard raglan pattern, if you need the whole thing bigger/smaller you need to have more/less chains at the beginning. this change also carries over to the collar. the increases are evenly spaced for me, and unless your doll has a very broad chest this shouldnt have to change.
if the arms need more space you need to either add more rows to the r3-7 part and/or add more chains in r8 (this part should fit pretty sugg around the body)
i was experimenting a bit w using BLO to minimize the gap where the sleeve and body seperate (r8). it worked p good but you can ignore it if you dont understand it and just sc in all.
r1: ch24, slst join. r2: (sc 5, inc) x4 r3-7: inc in first of previous inc. last row should have 10 sc between increases. r8: sc5, blo sc 1, ch 5, blo sc join in 1st of next inc, sc 11, blo sc1, ch5, blo sc join in 1st st of next inc, sc 5 r9: sc6, blo sc 1, sc 5, blo sc1, sc11, blo sc 1, sc 5, blo sc 1, sc 6 r10-13: sc in all (36) r14: (sc8, inc)x4 r15: sc in all (40) slst finish off
Sleeve
r1: join mid armpit, slst ,sc2, sc in the leftover bits from the BLO stitches, sc 1, sc in leftover BLO bits, sc2 r2-6: sc in all

Tunic (red brown) [tunesian entrelac crochet]
if you want to make this bigger i recommend keeping the same square layout, but making the squares bigger. its a bit of measuring and math to figure it out.
the tunic is made in tunesian crochet and i dont really know what written patterns for that look like so i hope this makes sense.
for a single square:
r1: ch4, start in 2nd back bump from hook. pull up a loop from ever back bump. you should have 4 loops on your hook total. simplestitch in all r2-4: simplestitch in all. r5: slst in all. fasten off
for the slanted parts i did the decrease by pulling through the middle 2 loops in one go on the back pass
this is how the full thing should look, its worked from bottom left to top right.
Tumblr media
sew together the shoulders together, then sew in all of the ends :) good luck
Tumblr media
tunesian crochet has a tendancy to curl, so if you used cotton i def recommend blocking it
i defined the grid a little bit with a dark brown pencil.
cowl (green)
BLO sc 7, repeat till desired lenght, then BLO slst join the last row to the first.
scalp undercut bit (dark brown)
r1: sc 6 in mr r2: (inc) x6 r3: (sc 1, inc) x6 r4: (sc 2, inc) x6 r5: (sc3, inc) x6 r6: (sc 4, inc)x6 r7: sc36
sew on back of the head (recommend doing this before the ears and face, see end for more detailed assembly instructions)
Tumblr media
hair (reddish brown) [hair video]
disclaimer, this is kind of a mess. the lenghts didnt line up the way i intended so i improvised by adding loose strands and spent a lot of time pinning every strand in place before glueing them down.
i used bison kit contact glue since its sturdy, transparant, flexible and waterproof. you can use hot glue as well, i just personally dont like it because its bulky.
r1: sc 21 in mc. join BLO slst r2: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, gdc10, BLO slst join r3: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, gdc10, BLO slst join r4: ch13, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 11, BLO slst join r5: ch13, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 11, BLO slst join r6: ch 14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12, BLO slst join r7: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, BLO slst join r8: ch 18, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 16, BLO slst join r9: ch 18, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 16, BLO slst join r10: ch 14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12, BLO slst join r11: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10, BLO slst join r12: ch 10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8, BLO slst join
from now on, join in the FLO's of previous round r13: ch10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8, FLO slst join r14: ch10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8 , FLO slst join r15: ch12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10 , FLO slst join r16: ch12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10 , FLO slst join r17: ch14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12 , FLO slst join r18: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, FLO slst join r19: ch 18, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 16, FLO slst join r20: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, FLO slst join r21: ch14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12 , FLO slst join
1x ch 6, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 4 2x ch8, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 6 2x ch 10, sc in 2nd from chain, hdc 8, slst in same, fasten off. 2x ch 12, sc in 2nd from chain, hdc 10, slst in same, fasten off. 3x ch14
pin all in place until it looks good, tie +glue loose strands first. then glue back pieces, crown, and lastly bangs/ top back layer. some of the lose strands go behind the ears, one is the left sideburn, and the rest is to cover up the crown. these pics are the best i can do as a guide, this was my first time doing this so i was struggling lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i didnt fully glue down the bangs and the top back layer bc i thought it would be fun if u could ruffle his hair, but my friend who i gave the plush to has significantly abused him (its been 2 days) and his hair is a mess so im gonna have to glue it down again lol. might as well do it all the first time if u plan on throwing him down the stairs or something.
Face
for eyes + eyebrows, embroider outline with dark brown, then needle felt [video] the inner parts w unraveled dark brown fluff. the dark brown i used was probably acrylic. cotton doesnt really work well for this.
Tumblr media
Belt and pouch (dark brown)
the belt is a 3 strand basic friendship bracelet! [video]
sew together the ends and hide it with by sewing the pouch on top.
i didnt write down the pattern for the pouch, but from the top of my head its the same start as the squares for the tunic
r1-9: simple stitch in all r10: simple stitch 1, decrease by putting your hook through 2 vertical bars when pulling up a loop, simple stitch edge 1. r11: slst in all, finish with a long tail
use tail to sew together the sides, and sew the pouch onto the belt. use some yellow thread to make a button.
ASSEMBLY.
put on the blouse, put the arms in their place and finish the button joints.
put on the tunic, lace the sides with dark brown yarn, finish with a knot and hide the tails underneath the chest part of the tunic.
slide on the belt and boots.
sew the scalp undercut bit to the head
sew the ears to the head
tie + glue the loose hair strands behind the ears
glue the back of the hair
glue the back of the hair
glue the middle circle part of the hair
glue the top back layer and bangs
sew the head to the body
put on the cowl
Tumblr media
i hope this is somewhat clear, feel free to dm me is you have questions.
enjoy your squeakychuck :D

Crystallize (ROTTMNT One-Shot Preview)
One-shot, Fluff, Rise Donnie, main timeline
You honestly can’t say how all of this got started.
Now don’t get it twisted. You remember the first instance. The fact that not even a few minutes into your lunch period, you’d heard the sound of something banging against metal only to look up and find no one. You remember the following days and the stare that had accompanied them, intent and focused on your hands as you toiled away at the blanket you’d been working on. And you remember by the end of that week, someone sitting two tables over with a book, something that would have barely caught your attention if it didn’t keep happening again, and again, and again.
Same height, same purple hoodie, same heavy stare the second you start working on your project.
You realize they’re trying to be subtle. You know they’re not. Not when they consistently take off minutes after your lunch break is finished. Not when they constantly spare a glance behind themselves as they leave after checking out their books. And certainly not when, after a week of that, they take to you, not your owl colleague, you when your superior kept telling you that this new shift was just going to be about the first few hours, something you’d hate if it didn’t mean you were fully awake.
So you know. You’ve got a pretty good track record of what’s been going on during your shifts and breaks, although you’re pretty sure whoever this person is would likely be annoyed at that fact. You’re just not sure why. Why this person, this man is obsessed with your hobby as thoroughly as he is.
… You think it’s a man. The few sounds you’ve heard coming from his throat sound male and the name you have seen on the account seems like it, but you have no idea what’s behind that purple hoodie of his other than the fact that he seems to have green skin and a mask of the same color as his pullover. Not to mention that getting him to talk feels almost forbidden at this point, at least until he breaks it.
“That’s not the project you were working on.”
Which, just like you expected, is done as weirdly as all your previous interactions, if they can be called that, making you blink and look at the bag next to you.
Of course, he would notice. Even if he’s not a bird, he’s been watching you like a hawk for a month. You turn back to checking in his books, “It was getting a bit too big to work on here, so it’s now at home. This is a transitional project since I haven’t bought the yarn for my next project yet and I have a lot of scraps.”
“The hook is different.”
You check in the last book and follow his gaze back to your bag, smiling at the long wooden hook, “Yep. It’s what I like to use for my scrap projects. It’s a Tunisian crochet hook. You familiar?”
Before you dare look in his direction, your polite smile melting into genuine mirth as his face twitches. You can't be sure, but he looks miffed, dare you say upset since he takes off without another word into the library, and you can only sigh at it as you wonder if he will be present at lunchtime.

(Long post, sorry y'all)
A little more than two years ago now, my grandmother passed away. She and my grandpa had moved down to my home town a few years before so we could take care of them. I brought them groceries once a week, helped them write checks, fixed tvs, and found lost things. I was really close with my grandma.
In addition to her hilarious personality and dry wit, one of my favorite things about her was that she was a painter and a crafter like me! She used to crochet, and I took her to the craft store a couple of times so she could get more yarn and books on crochet. But her arthritis and the shaking in her hands kept getting worse, so she eventually had to stop.
She kept her most recent project, a granny square blanket, safely packed away in a plastic bin. She told all of us she was going to finish it one day.
Her hands never got better, and when she got sick, and we found out it was cancer, she rapidly deteriorated.
After she passed, I went to work helping my mom clean out my grandparents apartment so we could move my grandpa in with her. In our frantic cleaning, I found that bin again:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DOZENS of granny squares, dozens of half used skeins. I asked my mom what she wanted me to do with it, and she said she didn't care. I set it aside and later took it home.
Maybe a month later, that tumblr post about the Loose Ends Project was going around. It felt like a sign--I was never going to learn to crochet in order to finish my grandmother's blanket. But they might be able to help!
So I filled out the interest form. They got back to me SUPER quick. And maybe 2 weeks later, I was paired with volunteer in my state (only 2 hours away!) and the box of yarn, granny squares, and my grandmother's crochet hook were in the mail. That was at the end of January this year.
Over the next couple of months, my "finisher" emailed me regular updates on her progress, and asked me questions on my preferences for how she constructed the final blanket.
At the end of August, the blanket was done!
Tumblr media
I had always intended the blanket to be a gift for my mother. So I cleaned it up, put it in the only bag I had big enough to fit it, and drove to my mom's. I gave the blanket to her and she was gobsmacked. I explained to her all about Loose Ends, and how someone volunteered to finish the piece for us. She was speechless. (I was quite pleased with this, because I am not the best at giving gifts, so this was a pretty exciting reaction!)
She said that it was the most thoughtful gift she had ever been given. She said "your grandma would love this". To which I replied, "yeah, I know she really wanted to finish it a couple of years ago". But that was when my mom dropped the bomb of a century on me--she told me that my grandma had started making those granny squares OVER 30 YEARS AGO. She had started the blanket when my grandpa was staying in the hospital, but that was back when my mom was younger than I am now! My grandma had packed them all away, planning on finishing it, when my grandpa was sent home from the hospital. Then it went from house to house, from condo in Chicago to their apartment in my hometown. All that time and my grandma had wanted to finish it, but couldn't. First because she was busy, then because she forgot how to do it, then because of her arthritis, and then because of the cancer. My mom said she had given up on expecting my grandma to finish it.
She said I brought a piece of her childhood with her mom out of the past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And really, all of this is to say, if you have seen or heard about the Loose Ends Project and have an uncompleted project or piece from a loved one who has passed away--these are your people. They were so kind and treated my project with such care. That box probably would have been found by my own grandkids one day if I hadn't heard about Loose Ends.
Five stars, absolutely worth it!
(From what I understand, you can sign up to volunteer too! If you have time to share, it might be worth checking out!)

Heey, I LOVE your writings on soft sukuna, you write so beautifully🩷 please can you do one where he is jealous (fluff)😭🩷
Thank you sm for the kind words!!! Here's my best attempt at doing your idea justice <3
Tumblr media
Sukuna has no real reason to be jealous. He practically owns you, controls every aspect of your life, who or what could he possibly be jealous of? Every servant who dared approach you in an inappropriate way would be dealt with swiftly. And you're a good pet, who has eyes for no one other than your master. You really don't give him a reason.
But there's this one thing... Since you've been so good and obedient, Sukuna has allowed you many liberties. You're permitted to skip around the mansion, watch Uraume cook, even enjoy little hobbies. You've tried many before you found that crocheting particularly piqued your interest. Ever since you've learned the basics, you've been spending hours working on perfecting your skills. At first it was cute, watching you squint in concentration as you move the hook. But then the math became really simple - having this hobby to keep you busy meant you approached Sukuna out of boredom a lot less. And he noticed it. It irked him, but you're not technically doing anything wrong. You were still as happy to serve him as ever, he just had to ask. But why would he have to ask? You should be all over him on your own. He should have to push you away, not beg you to give him attention. He didn't like this disturbance in your master and pet balance that this little hobby of yours caused.
He stands at the door now. You're crocheting again. You and your favorite servant laugh at your failed creation so sweetly, you don't even notice he's waiting. He clicks his tongue to establish his presence, and your servant falls to her knees immediately. You however, are not held to that high of a standard anymore.
"Master!", you call him, and hop up to greet him with a deep bow. Before he can say anything, you've picked up the piece of fabric you've been working on and ran into his arms to show him.
He looks at the ugly form and scoffs. "This is what I'm sponsoring?", he says and pulls a loose piece of yarn, making your little creation fall apart. He always was a bully, but you note his bad mood.
"I'm only a beginner...", you sulk.
"That much is obvious.", he flicks the yarn away and it falls onto the floor. Before you can bend to pick it up, he seizes your wrist and pulls you back. "Aren't you a little young to waste time with hobbies for the elderly?", he asks. You look at him with your cutest, practiced doe eyes, but it doesn't work.
"Come, pet. I know an activity more suitable for your age.", he says when you don't respond, and steps out of the room. You hop after him, unaffected by his condescending comments. You know that they're just for show. If he really thought you were a hag, you would've been gone a long time ago.
"Sitting at your throne all day?", you tease innocently and join him at his side, sliding your arm underneath one of his. You hope your playfulness will distract him from whatever is bothering him. "Or in a bath?" His lower set of eyes peeks at you and smirks, noticing that you're feeling particularly daring today. He's not sure how he feels about that. "Or in your bed." He rolls his eyes gently and opens the door to his chambers.
"At least then you'd be serving your purpose and actually spending time with your master.", he comments and shuts the door. His comment catches you a bit off guard and you stop in front of his bed. He makes his way towards you, and you look up at him with an insulted expression.
"Master, are you jealous of a ball of yarn?", you ask playfully, and squeal when he suddenly pushes you down to sit on the bed. Now you're at eye level... with his crotch.
"You've got quite a big mouth today. Put it to good use for a change, will you?", he runs his hand from the crown of your head to the back of your neck. You seem to have struck a nerve, so it really is the ball of yarn. Is it possible that Sukuna is this clingy?
"Will you?", he repeats and tugs on your hair and narrows his eyes. You smile obediently and reach behind him to untie his obi.
"Yes Master."
-
You try your best to manage the time you spend crocheting from then on, working on productivity in the hours that you dedicate to developing this skill. And it helps that you have a specific goal in mind now: helping Sukuna realize that this hobby is a friend, not an enemy. He still catches you engaging in it sometimes, and gives you a dirty look, but you're as quick as ever to drop what you're doing and join him. That seems to satisfy him.
When you're finally happy with the result of your creation, you look for Sukuna around the mansion. It's not really that hard to find him, as he frequents three places most of all: the dining room, his bedroom and his throne room. This time, he's sitting on his throne, and a small line of people wait for their turn to be gifted his attention. You on the other hand, don't have to wait in line to get it. His lower set of eyes spots you the moment you enter the chamber. You're allowed to roam the mansion, but barging in unannounced is not standard even for you.
Still, Sukuna has learned that you usually only feel daring enough to cross boundaries when you're sure he'll like what you have in mind. So for now, he will let this slide. He's bored as hell anyways. The people are dismissed and you pass by them on your way to his throne, nestled on a pile of bones. You stop in front of it and greet him with a bow.
"Master, I come to you with a humble offering.", you say with your hands on your thighs and your eyes fixated on the ground.
"Show me.", he says simply, but you recognize entertainment in his voice. You climb up the bones and feel his stare scan you from head to toe, before you sit on his knee.
"May I ask you to close your eyes?", you ask and flutter your lashes. Oh the way you seduce him. Who else could ask Sukuna to do something as dangerous as close his eyes? Give his opponent valuable time to land an attack. Who else could dare? And who else would he ever listen to and really close his eyes? Really do as he's told? Oh how safe he feels with you.
You take one of his large hands into yours, and gently pry his long fingers away to open his palm. He has beautiful hands. The only ones you've ever known, but you're sure they're the most beautiful hands in the world. So dangerous, so elegant. You want to press a kiss to his palm, but you hope your gift will have the same, maybe even more profound effect.
Something soft touches his skin, and then you speak, as politely as before. "You may look.", in your softest voice. And when he opens his eyes, he finds himself looking at you first. You're an offering on your own.
Then he looks at his hand. Two crocheted plush figures resembling him and yourself lay flat on his palm, connected through their holding hands. At first glance, it looks like they're two separate creations. In a sense, they are, but... He tries to part them.
"We're sewn together.", you explain. He hums in amusement and inspects your gift more closely. His plush is bigger, recognizable by the pink hair and four buttons for eyes. It's even wearing his favorite kimono. Yours is smaller and less detailed. You look like any other human when placed next to him, insignificant. But in a sea of pets, entertainers and lovers he's had in the past, he would never fail to recognize it as you.
He's spent so long looking at it with that face of his that you just can't read. You're starting to grow restless in his lap, and he feels your eyes dwell into his soul. When he looks back at you with one pair of eyes, your brows are furrowed in worry and you're fiddling your hands in your lap. He pats you on the head and pulls you closer, so you have no choice but to lean on his frame.
"It's beautiful, darling.", his fingers run through your hair, scraping your scalp softly. "No loose threads either.", he looks at you with all four eyes now, and you feel so small in his arms. You're not used to receiving this many compliments from Sukuna at once. Not ones that weren't directed at your body or performance. Especially not when he's looking at you so tenderly, when every word sounds so loving and genuine. "You've improved so much.", his hand is on your face now, and you catch him glancing at your lips. You part them to start thanking him, but you already know how much he hates listening to that.
You stay quiet instead, and lean closer, letting him take you. And he kisses you so softly, fingertips light against your heated skin. You feel like you're floating, like a lily pad in a warm pond. The littlest gesture of his affection has you melting in his embrace. The power he has over you... and how wonderful it is to surrender yourself to it.
None of the liberties and privileges you've been awarded with compare to this. You know that many pets have walked these halls before you. Many warmed his bed and claimed the title of his favorite. But how many loved him like this? Enough to dedicate time of their day to making intricate gifts. How many could say Sukuna kissed them lovingly, for no other reason than to show gratitude and affection?
You're flushed completely red by the time his lips leave yours. You can't hold the intensity of his gaze, as he stares at you in adoration. "I'm happ.. I'm glad you l-like it...", you stumble through the words and win a giggle out of him. You are just so cute. Like a pet should be. He rubs your head again and pushes you away lightly.
"Go now, the people await me.", he says with a benevolent smile gracing his face. "I'll see you tonight."
You bow to him and leave.
And when you visit him that night, he is as gentle as he was when he kissed you earlier, still in a good mood after your gift. Caressing your hair, shoulders and back, as you lay comfortably with your head on his chest. Keeping you warm in his embrace. You're trying your best to follow the conversation, but sleep is slowly taking over you. Sukuna notices and plants a kiss to your forehead, wishing you goodnight. The last thing you see before your eyes close, is your handcrafted plushies sitting on his nightstand.

See, just because Steve lets Eddie and the kids play D&D at his house now doesn't mean he's really interested in the game, just the same as even though El and Max sometimes tag along, they're really there to hang out, not play. They each bring their own things to do, and one night El brings a ball of yarn and a shiny little metal hook and a vaguely rectangular yarn-thing that she focuses very hard on while the boys shout in the background.
Steve has no idea what she's doing; he'd say she's knitting, except he's almost certain that involves some kind of sticks, not a hook. But since he's not really doing anything himself, he sits down next to her and asks what she's up to.
"Joyce has been teaching me how to crochet. She says it will help with my hand-eye coordination." El holds up her project with a proud smile. "I am starting with a scarf."
It's not the world's most attractive scarf, but it's not like Steve could do better. He's still not entirely sure what crocheting is, to be perfectly honest. "Is that different from knitting?" he asks.
El nods gravely. "It is," she says, and takes to showing him how she loops the yarn over the hook and pulls it through the stitches in her scarf and adds a few more inches to the row she's working on.
When Steve's attention doesn't completely wane during her demonstration, she pulls a second ball of yarn out of her bag and presents it to Steve.
"Oh, I don't–" Steve tries to demur, but El is determined, and Steve has seen entire dimensions pale in the face of her determination.
This is how he finds himself crocheting a little chain of stitches with just his fingers, the same way Joyce had apparently started El off. El beams at him and returns to her own project, occasionally checking on his progress. The chain is a few feet long by the time everyone needs to be driven home, and Steve decides it actually hadn't been a bad way to pass the time. Kind of relaxing.
The next time everyone is over, El sits down with her scarf, and after a short while, Steve sits down next to her. He compliments how much longer the scarf has gotten (and it does seem like the shape has evened out a bit as she's been going along). She smiles and pulls another ball of yarn out of her bag. This time, she has an extra hook and seems intent on showing Steve what to do with it.
Almost involuntarily, Steve's attention flashes to the group clustered around the table, hesitating to take the yarn from El, and she frowns.
"Joyce says these types of skills are important for everyone to have," El says firmly, and, well– Steve's not really going to argue.
He learns how to crochet a chain with the hook. It feels odd in his hands at first—the shape too small, the metal a little too slick, the yarn not wrapping naturally around his fingers the way it does El's—but he gets the hang of it. When El is pleased with his progress, she shows him the stitch she's been using: a simple single crochet. It's tougher than it looks, and Steve understands immediately why El's scarf is so uneven; neither of them have ever done anything like this before.
Still, he doesn't hate it.
In fact, he really kind of enjoys it.
He enjoys it enough that he asks El to show him more the next time she's over. She's still new herself and is really only working with pretty much the same couple of stitches, but she proudly teaches him what she knows, and Steve picks it up as fast as she's able to lay it down.
Steve goes out and buys his own supplies, no longer content with mooching off of El's. He hadn't realized there were so many different kinds of yarn, and resigns himself to awkwardly asking one of the craft store employees what type might be best for beginners.
The employee—a woman about his mother’s age with a much warmer smile and far less judgement in her eyes—explains with great enthusiasm what all those different types of yarn might be used for, and how the size of the hook affects the outcome of the project, and shows him so many different pattern books his head spins. He realizes that she probably upsells him on a lot of shit, but he leaves with a few different sizes of hooks, some new yarn, and more excitement for a hobby than he's felt probably since high school.
El and Robin are the only ones who know about his new hobby, of course. It's not really that he's ashamed to tell the others, he just knows how teenage boys work and he's not keen on giving a bunch of fifteen-year-olds another reason to bully him. Maybe in a few months. In the meantime, he crochets at home while he's listening to the radio or watching TV, and he crochets at work during down times. Robin finds his newfound hobby morbidly fascinating, but vehemently denies any and all offers to teach her.
("I will find a way to damage myself with that hook and I think we both know that," she says. "It's just kind of wild to see you with a grandma hobby."
Steve threatens to tell El she called it that, and Robin shortly finds a new label for it.)
Fall rolls around and the air acquires a chill sometime in mid-October. Steve's been making practice scarves for a little while now (largely because he really only knows how to make rectangles at this point, but he doesn’t have the attention span for a whole blanket just yet), and he even considers wearing his least heinous attempt despite the fact he's never really wanted for good winter clothes. Then he notices Eddie.
Most of their little group has begun dressing appropriately for the weather, but Eddie doesn't do much more than add a pair of fingerless black gloves and maybe a heavier leather jacket to his ensemble. Steve's not even sure it's because he can't afford it – he's pretty sure it's because Eddie is committed to his aesthetic. Nancy had tried to force an extra scarf on him one day after a little cold snap, when they'd woken to frost on the ground (the scarf is blue, patterned with white snowflakes; it's actually Mike’s, but Mike is also refusing to wear it and Steve suspects Nancy doesn’t want to hold it, but also doesn’t want to get in trouble for letting Mike lose it), but Eddie had declined, insisting it doesn't match his vibe.
Steve can respect this. He himself has a certain aesthetic going on. However, he can also see that Eddie is definitely cold, and that just won't do.
He picks through the scarves and other various wooly things he's accumulated so far, but decides none of them would suit Eddie and, besides that, none of them are really warm enough. If he's going to make Eddie a scarf, it ought to be a good one.
So Steve sucks it up and heads into Melvald's one day when he knows Joyce will be on shift, hoping she won't be too busy for a quick chat.
When he catches her, Steve explains that El had shown him the basics of crocheting but that his ambitions have outgrown his skills and maybe if she isn't too busy sometime, Joyce would be willing to show him a little more?
Joyce, because she’s a saint, says she would be delighted, and invites Steve to come over on their next shared day off.
When he gets there, she tries to ask him who he's making the scarf for, and the best he manages is, "...someone."
Joyce bites down on a smile. "Someone?"
"It's a surprise," Steve finally declares.
"For everyone?"
"Yes."
Joyce bravely manages to not laugh at Steve and instead asks him what kind of scarf he thinks Someone would like.
Steve decides that it needs to be thick, but it should also be soft. It should also be textured, because Ed– because Someone really likes fiddling with things. He can't get too ambitious with colors or patterns, but he decides that black and grey stripes will be perfectly suitable.
(He doesn't kid himself into thinking that by the time their brainstorming session is over, Joyce hasn't figured out exactly who he's talking about, but she's kind enough not to say it out loud.)
Steve's always been good with repetition and patterns—it's probably one of the reasons he’d found crocheting so relaxing in the first place—and he picks up the new stitches with ease under Joyce's deft instruction. She sends him home with the practice piece he'd made with some of her scrap yarn, and after a quick stopover at the craft store on his way home (he briefly gets stuck between shades of grey, but eventually decides on the silvery one over the steely one), he's ready to begin.
He expects making the scarf to be tougher, but once he gets into the rhythm of it, he sails right through. It takes him less than a week (albeit devoting a few solid hours to it every day, possibly more on his days off) to end up with what is, if he may say so himself, a pretty fine scarf.
The challenge comes in actually giving it to Eddie.
Christmas would be an excellent excuse for presenting it to him, except that's a little over a month away, and Steve doesn't want Eddie to go cold until then. Instead, he takes to keeping the scarf in his glove compartment just in case the perfect occasion for giving Eddie a scarf arises.
And much to Steve's surprise, one actually does.
It's right after the first real snow, and Steve has insisted on driving to pick Eddie up so they can hang out (Steve has nightmares about Eddie's driving when road conditions are optimal, never mind when the roads may be icy). He can see Eddie shivering under his jacket, blowing warm air into his cupped hands (Steve wonders if he could learn how to crochet gloves at some point, too. Ones with full fingers), so he ever-so-casually gestures to the glove box and tells Eddie, "Hey, if you're cold, I've got an extra scarf in there."
He's possibly not as casual as he hopes he is (or maybe Eddie just sees through him, like he always seems to), because Eddie gives him a look. "You do, huh?"
"Yep."
Steve concentrates very hard on the road in order to avoid Eddie's eyes. It doesn't stop him from hearing the little laugh Eddie lets out before popping open the glove compartment.
"Oh," Eddie says quietly as he pulls the scarf out, likely having been expecting another castoff piece of outerwear. "This is... actually really nice."
For a moment, Steve can't help but glance over to see the way Eddie is fingering the crocheted ridges of the scarf, running a thumb over the bright silver stripes picked out of the black, and he immediately looks back up at the road.
"Yeah. You should– you can, uh. Keep it. If you want," he says, and wonders what happened to the days when he was smooth.
"No, man, this is, like, for real nice. I couldn't take this," Eddie says, though he's still holding the scarf in his lap.
Steve draws a breath in. "I mean, I was kind of hoping you would, since it's for you."
"Seriously?"
They have unfortunately arrived at Steve's house at this point, and there will be no avoiding the conversation now.
"Yeah," Steve says. "I, uh. Made it for you. So you should take it. Don't let my hard work go to waste, yeah?"
"You're shitting me," Eddie unfolds the scarf and holds it up in delighted scrutiny. "You made this?"
(Distantly, Steve appreciates that the emphasis isn't on "you made this?" Like Eddie doesn't immediately doubt he's capable, only that he's holding a handmade item at all.)
"Yeah. No big deal." Steve shrugs.
"You made this for me." Eddie looks at Steve, and it sounds like that had been meant as a question, though it comes out in flat uncertainty.
"Yeah. Just noticed you were cold, but you won't wear anything that doesn't match your aesthetic," Steve tries to tease, wiggling his fingers at Eddie's outfit, but Eddie doesn't say anything in return.
He doesn't say anything for just long enough that Steve gets insecure all over again, reaching hesitantly for the scarf.
"But, I mean, if that's weird, or whatever, you don't have to-"
"Nope. Fuck off, I'm wearing this forever." Eddie loops the scarf quickly around his neck and squeezes the ends in his hands. "Jesus, this is soft."
Steve grins. "I'm not sure it'll last forever, but I can make you another after than one wears out."
"You'd better," Eddie says, and he's grinning too. "So, what, you knit?"
Steve points a very serious finger into Eddie's face. "Crochet. There's a difference," he says sternly.
Then, because he can't help it, he bops the end of Eddie's nose before getting out of the car, leaving Eddie to scramble out behind him, laughing and calling him a dork as he goes.
(The kids, incidentally, don't tease Steve nearly as much as he'd thought they would when they find out.
This is possibly because they're more mature than he gave them credit for, but more likely it’s because El is standing beside him and daring them to say anything unfavorable about their shared hobby.
Mostly they just let it slide, though Dustin demands to know why Eddie got a scarf and he didn't. Then Lucas wants one, too, because Mike and Max have already received various bits of outerwear from El, and he's not about to be left out. And then Robin, of course, will want to know why Steve hasn’t made her anything, once she finds out that he’s making things for the kids.
Steve resigns himself to a busy winter spent under a pile of yarn.
It's not really a hardship.)

In the final few days of the semester, Jean had holed himself up in the art department's pottery studio.
He wanted to make a handcrafted gift for his mother back home, who had another recurrence of cancer and was currently living in a hospice.
Jean's mother wasn't weak-willed.
Looks can be deceiving. At first glance, the plump woman of short stature with rosy cheeks and mousy brown hair often scraped back into a ponytail appeared timid.
However, raising her son by herself didn't allow her to rely on others and she hated pity. Murmurs and tuts, sighs of sympathy sent her into a rage.
During breaks when Jean visited out of concern, she'd shoo him away.
"Ma please." Jean tutted as he watched her in the armchair. "I came all this way to see you, why can't I stay here?"
Rolling her eyes, she groaned as her eyes fixated on crocheting.
"God, I really must have one foot in the grave if you insist on imprinting yourself on me now." She scowled as she put down the crotchet hooks in her lap and met his eyes.
"Ma!" Jean sighed frustratedly, dragging his hand down his face. He took a deep breath as he screwed his eyes shut. "Don't say shit like that!"
He knew he was a spoiled child. An ungrateful kid who pushed his mother away at every turn. And he couldn't bear how it took her diagnosis for him to realise the error of his ways.
There was only so much 'you were just a kid' from her lips softly could do. It made him resent himself deeply. Plagued with constant shame and guilt about how he treated his mother.
The two had a candid conversation. It was raw and he remembered snivelling into her lap despite his six foot three frame as he gripped the hem of her dress.
She urged him not to visit and to enjoy his summer after graduation. He wasn't too sure despite her insistence.
"If I see you skulking around here, I'm not gonna even acknowledge your existence. Do you understand?" Her voice echoed in his head.
His memory dissipated away as you entered.
"Yo, Jean!" You called out as you pushed the heavy door of the pottery studio open.
"Hi pretty girl, you need me for something?" He smiled, his bright brown eyes lighting up at the sight of you.
You approached Jean and leaned over to inspect the clay on the pottery wheel as he turned his focus on moulding the wet clay in his hands.
Always flirting. But never a move was made. It irked you at first but you left it. Hell would freeze over before you pursued a man.
"Just wondering why you cooped yourself up in here all day." You responded as you folded your arms, leaning against the wall.
"Tryna make some present for my Ma." He snorted. "Since summer's coming up. Figured since all she ever wants is to receive a homemade gift. She hates store-bought crap. Maybe you can help me out."
"Oh...with what?"
"I'm trying to work the clay into the shape of a cat but I'm having trouble with the ears."
"Oh yeah, she was pretty fond of cats. What was the name of the tabby cat you guys had?" You asked as you reached out to adjust Jean’s fingers, moulding a part of the cat's ear that he was working on.
"Felix! Yeah, she was heartbroken when he passed away. I don't even have a reference photo, I'm working from memory mostly." He chuckled. "She spoiled that cat, lemme tell ya. Sure she loved him more than me."
Your first love. The unrequited love that had been chipping away at your heart for over a decade belonged to none other than Jean.
Your mind changed. You could never pinpoint the exact moment you fell for him.
Maybe it was in the summers when you sat side by side on the steaming kerb as orange ice pops dripped down the stone slabs.
Perhaps it was when your fingers frozen from the subzero conditions shook from how long you worked on the snowmen only for some older bullies in your neighbourhood to kick it down, leaving you in tears and Jean fighting (and losing).
It could've been when a popular guy in your grade asked you for homecoming and bailed last minute since it was at your expense to make everybody laugh, and Jean decided to ditch and bring you to the nearby lake where you star gazed all night.
Either way, Jean Kirstein had always been a constant in your life.
"What are your plans after graduation?" You chirped. "I was thinking we could go somewhere."
"What'd you have in mind..?" He smiled. "Cos I was just thinking of heading back home. Maybe get a part-time job n live with Ma since-"
He paused.
"You know she'd hate that." You chuckled.
"I know." He got up from the stool, heading over to wash his hands. "I'm gonna head over to the sports department."
Your face instantly soured. You knew all too well who would be there. Miss Black Belt Mikasa Ackerman.
"...Why?"
"What do you mean why...?" Jean replied.
"Jean, for god's sake. She doesn't even spare a glance at you."
"Don't you think I know that?" He said, voice shaky. "I'm well aware that Mikasa will never feel the same way about me."
Bile was scratching at your throat. God, you hate Jean Kirstein.
Hate him, hate him, hate him.
Every time he still went on about Mikasa all it did was shatter your heart. Why did you have to be stuck in the middle of this?
Why did you have to love a man who was in love with another? Mikasa had kindly let him down so many times.
That's what made it worse you suppose. The fact she paid him complete dust and he still was fawning over her.
You remember sobbing into your sister's lap, bawling like a baby when it hit you that Jean was in too deep with this infatuation.
"Don't you know it riles men up more if you flat-out reject them?" Your sister giggled as she gently smoothed the back of your head.
Love isn't transactional. You didn't expect Jean to throw himself at your feet when you did basic acts of human kindness such as accompanying him to help his mother in the hospice.
But there was always this twinge of hurt. Everything you do isn't good enough for him.
"Whatever."
"Why do you care anyway?"
You were about to turn on your heel and scream in his face but it was no use.
"You're right, I shouldn't."
Jean stared at you blankly for a few moments, his breath rising sharply.
"Do I need another reason? It's just love. I've had feelings for her since freshman year and that doesn't just go away like you switching off a light."
Jean looked down in disappointment and frustration. He felt ashamed that he was like a lovesick teen at almost twenty-two.
Clearing your throat, you figured you might as well drop the bomb.
"Well...Reiner invited me to spend the summer with him."
Jean's demeanor changed instantly and his smile dropped from his face. He paused the pottery wheel, with his lips pursed.
"Oh yeah? Is that so?"
"Mhm. He's old money rich...and I've never been to Europe before." You said nonchalantly as you shrugged.
Jean's jaw tightened. Completely irritated.
"So...are you gonna go?"
"I mean...why not? I don't have plans and I'm not really wanting to head back home."
His expression betrayed his jealousy, failing to compose himself to not seem overbearing or controlling. He was struggling to hide his resentment of Reiner.
During the fall semester, you, Reiner and Jean were in a group for an assignment that counted for a good chunk of your grade.
Jean wasn't exactly an academic genius and neither were you, but you both knew when to pick yourselves up by the bootstraps and get down to work. Organizing meet-ups to plan things out. And he bailed each and every time.
Reiner Braun as cliché as it was, was the big man on campus.
His family gave regular donations to the college meaning he could mess around and get off with barely a slap on the wrist.
Jean couldn't bear it. On the rare occasions, Reiner bothered to show up, he'd goof off and a pet name from him to you would make you forget how much he was screwing the two of you over.
Not to mention Reiner was one the few people who still bothered to call Jean "Horseface".
Eventually, Jean and you submitted the work without Reiner's contribution. Jean scolding you not to add Reiner's name.
"So...you'll be spending the entire summer with him?"
"N-no!" You stuttered. "He's just...sweet!"
Jean gave you a look of contempt. He knew full well Reiner was nicknamed 'Virgin Killer'.
"Sweet? What because he invited you to his mansion? Because he called you pretty?" Jean said, almost mockingly.
"Why do you even hate him? He was chill during that project." You said nonchalantly.
"You've got to be kidding me." Jean hissed. "He was 'chill'?! He didn't do any of the work!" Jean protested. "And then he had the nerve to sit there and gloat like he did jackshit!"
"Jean, just come. I want you with me."
"No thanks." Jean said sharply.
"Why not? It's not often you get to stay at a mansion."
"This is stupid." Jean grumbled. "How long do we gotta stay?"
"He said three months."
"Three months?! Nope. I can't. Even if you're there, he's still a dick."
"Jean, your Mom told you not to come back and you know that. So just come with me, hm?"
"She's in pain and she doesn't have much time left. I can't just stand by and refuse to visit her. My mom needs me..."
"You know if you go back, she'll give you silent treatment."
"Yeah, she will...she always does that when I upset her."
"So why don't we just spend two weeks then? Huh?"
"Two weeks doesn't sound nearly as bad. But can you promise me we won't spend the whole time with that jerkoff?"
"Can't promise you that."
Jean let out a sigh as he seemed to relent as his anger and jealousy both subsided for the moment.
"But we're not hanging out with him all the time. We're doing our own thing and he doesn't need to be involved with us at all."
"It's his house!" You said with a disbelieving laugh.
"Just because his name is on the deed of the place doesn't mean he needs to be glued to our hip the whole time. We're gonna be there for two weeks. I don't see why we can't just hang out on our own."
"That's not very nice of you." You said curtly, hands on your hips.
"Well, it wasn't 'nice of him' when he didn't contribute anything to our project." He ran his fingers through his hair after he washed his hands in the metal basin with an air of defeat to his voice. "Do you really like this guy...?" He asked, an edge to his voice.
You didn't reply but the shy look on your face told him all he needed to know.
"Just....don't fall for his bullshit. He's gonna hurt you. I’ll think about it."
"Like you haven't already hurt me enough." You muttered internally.
Tumblr media
Little did Jean know, you had already popped your cherry. To Reiner.
After the group project, you and Reiner began to sleep with each other frequently.
You felt awful after Jean and you had submitted your work without Reiner. You wanted to add his name but Jean was adamant about it.
You were worried there would be bad blood between you and Reiner after it, but a few days after he jogged up to you as he called your name when you were leaving a lecture.
He asked you to be his study buddy but with the way he looked at you, it was clear as day he had an ulterior motive to it all.
"Really? I'm not that good of a student." You snickered.
"I don't need Einstein. Just...help me out a bit, yeah?" Reiner pleaded.
It was hard to say no to Reiner Braun. Everything about the man oozed sex appeal. The way he towered over you, the stubble and strong jawline.
You loved his fluffy blond hair the most.
"If you say so." You shrugged.
"Reiner, if you keep going on your phone there's no use of you staying here." You said as you faced him, in an agitated tone, when he finally came over to your dorm to start said study sessions.
And there was a slight twinge of jealousy when you caught a glimpse of Reiner's phone and he was sexting somebody.
He gave you a sheepish grin.
"Ah, sorry pretty baby." He switched off his phone and tossed it across the fleece duvet cover on your bed. "Look, you got my full attention now. See?"
You sighed as you could feel a smile tugging at the corner of your lips. The pet name made your cheeks heat up. You cleared your throat.
"I told you we should've gone library. People can't concentrate in their bedrooms. Let alone bed."
"Oh, c'mon." Reiner smiled as he leaned in to whisper in your ear. "Why would I wanna be there when I can have you all to myself here?"
The million-dollar smile you saw too often when his team won a big game on campus, and they all threw him up in the air, his handsome face on the flat screen.
You backed up, the books and notes falling off the bed as Reiner nudged his forehead against yours as your back hit the headboard.
"I'm sure we could get up to more interesting things than this crap." He murmured. Not kissing you just yet. Breath tickling your skin, sending shivers down your spine.
"...Reiner." You stuttered. "We shouldn't-"
"What? Do you have a man, honey? He doesn't need to know."
"No...I'm single. It's just.."
"What? Don't tell me it's Horseface." Reiner snorted. "Everybody on campus knows about that tragic Eren, Mikasa and Jean triangle."
You winced at him saying it aloud.
"I just..." You pulled a face. "I'm a virgin, Reiner. I haven't even had my first kiss."
"You've got to be kidding me." Reiner said, eyes widening.
You felt humiliation wash over you.
"I know, it makes me-"
"I'm gonna stop you right there." Reiner said firmly as he pulled away from invading your personal space. "You're telling me a girl as beautiful as you hasn't lost her v-card? Let alone her first kiss? I refuse to believe that."
"Reiner, I have no reason to lie." You said with an uneasy laugh.
"That smile..." He said in awe as he cupped your jaw. "A girl like you should never go without kisses, honey. It's a damn shame."
Thinking back, it was a bit funny.
On paper it'd be easy to brush off Reiner's praise, you had seen him exchanging dirty messages with somebody whilst he was sat beside you.
But the way those light brown eyes full of warmth gazed at you, and the way his voice softened as he said that, it had to be authentic.
Or maybe you were naive.
Either way, that was the story of what led up to Reiner killing two birds with one stone by being your first kiss and taking your virginity.
Jean Kirstein loved jumping to conclusions. He thought Reiner Braun was a big bad wolf preying on you and you wanted to laugh his face about it.
There was a multitude of reasons why you kept Reiner as a fuck buddy.
You were sleeping with Reiner to spite Jean. Spite him for making you feel so inferior to Mikasa all these years. And you went along with being nothing but a hookup to Reiner.
The aspect was thrilling. The killing blow of Jean discovering this was going to be sweet. It was malicious of you but he had hurt you, albeit unintentionally.
Reiner liked you for many reasons.
He loved the fact that if he came on a specific day, you were strict about which candle you'd use.
If he came over on a Friday evening, the room would have the aroma of lime, basil and mandarin wafting around. If it was a Saturday, it'd be cedarwood and vanilla.
Your room was always so comforting to him, his large frame amongst the plush pillows and comforters as he basked in the orange fairy lights as very soft RnB was in the background.
There'd been a few times when you'd put him on some songs or even shared your playlist.
He enjoyed the fact he had a front seat to the transition of you always dressing up in something lacy and sexy that bared your nipples when he came over to settling for regular baggy shirts.
Reiner was lounging on your bed, shirtless with his arms propped underneath his head. You approached him, settling on the edge of the mattress.
Sitting on one knee and your leg on the ground. Leaning in to peck his lips gently. You were sure friends with benefits didn't do that but sharing affection with him was natural at this point.
His hand slipped under your shirt, the pad of his thumb gently massaging circles on your hip with a smile.
"You good?"
"Yeah." You settled on as you gazed at him.
"You excited for the trip?"
"I wanna invite Jean if that's okay."
Reiner tilted his head, furrowing his brows in bewilderment.
"...Why?" He responded with an awkward laugh.
"Look, Jean can be intolerable at times-"
"Understatement."
"But underneath all of that, there's a very sweet guy. Loyal. Responsible, caring. He's going through a lot at the moment, shit he's barely processed himself."
"Sounds like you have a crush on him." Reiner remarked.
"Reiner...!"
"I'm teasing! But I know he means a lot to you. I'm always down to invite people if he's not gonna be a dick." Reiner settled on as he cracked his knuckles.
"Why do you two even hate each other?"
"Look, it's not that I don't like the guy. He's just really competitive and always trying to one-up me. Plus, we both have a thing for you and it gets awkward when we're all in one room."
"He does not have a thing for me. You know he's hung up on her."
"Yeah, yeah. All I know is during the group work if I so much as looked at you, he was jumping down my throat." Reiner said as he shook his head.
"You're sweet, Rei." You giggled as you straddled his lap.
"Honey, don't start with that "Rei" crap. You only do that when you want something." He chuckled as he turned away when you kissed along his jaw.
"Why can't I just show you how much I appreciate you?" You jutted your lower lip out as you batted your eyelashes.
His large and calloused hand settled on the nape of your neck as he pulled you close to meet your lips.
You melted into him as your lips moved in a steady rhythm, and you gasped when you felt the warm, wet muscle of his tongue slip past the seam of your lips.
Skin alight and nipples achingly hard. Reiner knew all the ways to get you turned on and begged for him fast with just a swipe of his tongue.
"You still not used to that, baby?" He chuckled darkly as he flicked his tongue against yours.
"It is a bit of a surprise." You murmured, unable to stop smiling.
"God, you're adorable." Reiner grinned.
Without warning, he flipped you onto your stomach. Getting off the mattress and pulling down his pants, you felt the wind knocked out of your chest as Reiner practically manhandled you to position you on all fours on the bed.
Never in your life had you felt this exposed when he yanked down your shorts and panties, tossing them onto the floor.
Smacking your plump ass and grinning impishly to himself at the recoil, he spread your cheeks wide, mouth salivating at your wet pussy and puckered asshole on display.
He chuckled playfully as he teased your heat with his tongue, absolutely relishing in the sweet sounds of your moans and gasps.
Continuing to worship your body with his mouth, alternating between licking and nibbling at your sensitive spots, sliding a finger inside.
"That's right, pretty baby. Let it all out for me." His hand kneading and palming at your breast, roughly as he intensified his oral assault.
"There you go..." He clambered on the mattress behind you, his cock throbbing with need as he whispered in your ear as he licked the shell of it.
He flipped you onto your back with a smug smile, ego-inflated. He grabbed his girthy shaft and began to rub his tip teasingly against your glistening folds.
You stammered his name.
His head was full with the way you gasped and writhed beneath him, your eyes pleading with him to fill you up.
"You want it?" He asked, his voice low. "Want me to fuck you until you can't walk straight?"
"Want you s'bad, Rei." You mewled.
"Take all of me. Fuck, you feel so good wrapped around my cock."
You winced at how harshly Reiner's fingers gripped onto your hips as he slammed into you almost ruthlessly.
Your fists bunched up the sheets as you felt his cock glide against your gummy walls, every vein and the way he slide into you had your eyes rolling to the back of your head.
He kissed you deeply as you came, pulling out at the last moment so that he could coat your stomach with the sticky warm threads.
He leaned over you and, scooped up the hot cum from your stomach with his tongue, licking it up slowly and sensually.
When he gathered enough of it, he hovered over your lips and spat the cum into your mouth, watching as you swallowed it down.
"You're such a dirty girl," He said with a grin. "Wonder how our little Jean boy would react if he knew his best friend was a total slut, mhm?"
"Don't wanna talk about him right now." You muttered eyes half lidded from how spent you were as your felt your lips swollen and savored the taste of Reiner's cum.
"That's it. Keep your eyes on me, yeah?" He smiled as he gripped your chin, his thumb pressing underneath your tongue. It was slightly discomforting but thrilling all the same.
"Wanna keep you all to myself." He murmured as he released his grip and placed a sloppy kiss on your cheek.
You hated it when he said things like this. It was only the heat of the moment. He has a whole roster of women waiting for him for the rest of the week.
Instead of speaking, you simply slid your hand into his and squeezed it.
"Can't wait to fuck you in every room." He chuckled darkly as he pulled you up against him, kissing your neck.
Your eyebrows furrowed when Reiner left the next morning. He was an early bird and preferred to be out before the dean caused a ruckus.
Why was Jean's mother calling you?
"Hi darling." She cooed. "I hope I didn't wake you too early. I know Jeanie is probably fast asleep."
"Nah, it's fine. I was up anyways. How are you?" You responded as you fished for the discarded clothes across your bedroom's carpet.
"Nothing to complain." She snickered. "Jean's been pestering me about coming here."
"I told him to drop it."
"I know that boy is stubborn. He dropped something about you inviting him to stay at some college friend's mansion?"
"He did? He seemed like he didn't wanna go at all."
"Oh, he doesn't. It was just because I asked about you." She said plainly.
"You and Jean would make a lovely couple."
This was a sentence that popped up every single time you came to Jean's mother's home or even called. She even said it in the presence of the both of you, resulting in Jean to stutter and grow crimson red.
"I just worry about him. It makes me sound selfish, but I wanted to have grandchildren before I go." She sighed. "But time is a luxury for me."
"I get it. But...Jean is Jean. He has eyes for another."
Jean being a father at twenty two would've been hilarious.
"That's a pity. Well, just do me a favor and try to persuade him to go to your little friend's house."
"I'll-"
“Now who was it?” You groaned internally, yanking the door open.
You gave Jean a one over as he loomed over you.
"You can tell him yourself." You said wryly as you shoved your phone into Jean's hand.
"Ma, stop calling Y/N every time you can't reach me!" He groaned as he followed in after you.
After him squabbling with his mom, he hung up and turned to face you with a scowl.
"Why was Reiner leaving here?" He asked.
You shrugged.
"He's probably seeing somebody in these dorms." You lied through your teeth. "What brings you here?"
"I'll come with you."
"How long?"
"Two weeks."
"Alright. Deal." You smiled as you pinched his cheek. "Don't do your energy vampire crap."
"Shut up." He snapped.

Good Fences (Fluffuary #02)

FEB02: A Bit of Banter
You were outside of his window again, wearing the most ridiculous sleep shorts he’d ever seen in his goddamn life. And by ridiculous, he meant downright tantalizing. Sure, they were highlighter pink and had little hearts on the pockets, but they may as well have been transparent. As you bent over to move your potted plants away from his half of the balcony, he could see… everything.
At the plump, delightful join of your shapely legs, the outline of your adorable little pussy lips kept peeking between them, playing hide-and-seek with his unblinking line of sight and making him sincerely doubt his self-control.
You had insisted, of course, that John needed to take ownership of his half of the outside porch. You had lived there for so long that you had acquired a veritable forest of houseplants. He liked it. The greenery was nice. It was such a departure from most of the living spaces he found himself in, and watching you bend over to pick up fallen leaves or check the soil for its water content was a hell of a bonus.
He knew he shouldn’t bother you. He’d let himself fall into a terrible, almost insatiable crush. Your voice when you talked on the phone, the little songs you only knew three or four lines of in the shower, the smell of your cooking; he had let it consume him, and now he was hooked. John would make any excuse to be near you. You’d told him to just leave the empty pyrex he’d borrowed on the porch table, but he hadn’t. He’d waited, selfishly, until you were outside so he would be able to hand it back in person. Now, his opportunity had come.
The sliding door shuddered in its track as he climbed onto the balcony with you. You turned to look at him, and when you did, he was treated to the rest of your outfit. Your sweater was a little cropped, and it was full of large, crocheted holes so he could see your skin straight through them. You had a pale blue bralette, all lace and bows, covering your full breasts underneath, and he thought he might pass out from the blood loss. But, he controlled his face, and handed you back your baking dish,
“Ah!” You smiled, taking it from him, “Thanks! Hope you enjoyed the cookies.”
“Enjoyed? Ate them in one sitting, more like,” he chuckled, having a seat at the little round table that sat in the middle of the porch, and pulled out his cigar case.
“I guess you’ll need another batch this weekend, then,” you winked, obviously joking. But, he looked at you and quite seriously said,
“I would pay money, love.”
You blushed, and he enjoyed watching it flood your cheeks. How badly he wanted to kiss them, to feel the soft flesh bend under the pressure of his mouth…
“Sorry about all the plants. I’ve been working on clearing off your side…” You started dragging another pot into your corner.
“Told you it was alright.”
He lit his cigar, and watched you carefully. You had finally moved all the plants out of his side and had pulled out the broom to sweep it off.
“Can’t have you cleanin’ for me too, love,” he moved to stop you.
“It’s my mess, John. But, I make a pretty decent maid.”
There was a twinkle in his eye when he responded to your comment,
“Mmm. Bet you look pretty good in the outfit,” he laughed when you narrowed your eyes at him, trying to hold back your own laugh as you swept off the stray soil, “Little feather duster?” He mimicked the dusting motion at you and let the smoke billow out around his beard.
“You’re going to need to hire a real maid if you keep leaving those ashes all over my table,” you shot back, teasing him.
He feigned injury, pouting a bit,
“I’ll buy an ashtray, love, don’t worry. C’mon. Don’t you like a smoke every now and then?”
You shrugged, sitting across from him, resting after your chores,
“Never had one. Not a big cigar like that anyway.”
“Think it’s big, huh?” He cocked a sly smile, knowing he was being rude.
You rolled your eyes, but gave him a soft laugh anyway.
He handed it to you, and you admired the glowing ember at its tip. You had to admit, the scent was wonderfully complex, and you had accidentally trained yourself, like Pavlov’s dog, to respond when you smelled it outside. It meant he was around…
“Don’t inhale into your chest. Just pull it into your mouth, and then let it fall away slowly. It’s meant to be relaxing.”
You tried to follow his directions and he grinned with no small amount of satisfaction.
“It’s nice,” you admitted, handing it back to him.
“You should let me cook for you. Gotta pay you back for all those cookies somehow,” he offered, staring out into the vanilla sky as the sun tucked itself behind the cloud.
“Mmm,” you smiled, leaning back in your chair and looking out into the sunset with him, “Not sure if it’s safe. You might be a murderer, you know?”
“I might be…” He took another long drag, and there was something in his tone that gave you pause, but he smirked, so he was clearly joking around.
“You don’t seem very motivated,” you shrugged, “It’s been two weeks, and I’m still breathing. Or, maybe you’re terrible at it?”
He cut his eyes over to you and burst out laughing. You laughed with him, not exactly knowing what was so funny. But, being with him was intoxicating, and you were having a hard time staying away. Laughing together like this felt like a dream.
John finally caught his breath and nodded,
“That’s true. You could make it easier on me by coming to dinner tomorrow. We could eat out here,” he winked, “For your safety.”
“Yeah,” you shrugged, pulling your sweater a little tighter around your shoulders, “That sounds nice.”
“Great,” he took another long, enticing drag of smoke, “It’s a date.”

I love how you can learn crochet from literally anyone. Provided you have any kind of visuals, it does not matter at all what language it's in, been you're all doing the same thing. I don't speak a word of spanish that dora didn't teach me, but the amount of shit I've learned from spanish speaking crocheters?? incredible. one lovely lady has the ONLY good gengar pattern I've ever found. I gave the best gift I've ever given thanks to her. I don't speak a word of hindi but that has never stopped me from learning really incredible technique from indian women. one of them taught me how to hold my hook so that it wouldn't hurt my hand after hours of work. I had no idea what she was saying, but I'm going to get this baby blanket I'm working on done on time thanks to her.
crochet transcends language and that fucks so hard.

15|09|2023
My last few days of rest before going back my studying routine next week are still pretty slow, but I feel a bit better compared to the other day. I have a bit more energy and I put that mainly into writing letters to friends and crocheting. My cardigan is very slowly taking form. I finished the back and the first front panel (which I winged and I will find out if it will look good onle once I am done with the whole project so cross your fingers for me). I am now working on more mushrooms, which will be of different sizes since the hook I was using is about to break and I had to switch to a bigger one. I also ordered more yarn for the sleeves since what ai currently have will only be enough to make the other front panel. At the store they told me it could be of a slightly different shade, but I am hoping it will be fine.
Cozy hobbit autumn activities:
Reading a short story every morning while I drink my tea
Writing letters to friends
Rewatching Coraline and enjoying every minute of its spooky cozy vibes
Crocheting while listening to audiobooks or watching movies
Finishing a graphic novel late at night
Reviewing Irish on duolingo before bed
Picking up again my bullet journal and making new spreads to stay on top of my upcoming study to do lists
📖: The Burning God by R.F. Kuang, Of Ghosts And Goblins by Lafcadio Hearn, The Sculptor by Scott McCloud
🎵: 12 Fractures by Pierce The Veil (ngl I've had this on repeat for two days)

First, I adore you and your brain. Second, I have a silly little ankle tattoo of a doodle (it’s a lemon man) my sister made and fully love poorly drawn lil things so Eddie’s octopus is my favorite. Third! I picked up crochet during the pandemic (the first bit lmao where I got laid off and super depressed) and it’s so therapeutic when i need to just shut down and focus on one thing because I’m stressed or overwhelmed. I’m working on coasters right now, and god they’re so much easier than the first coaster pattern I tried (that one put me off for a while). I just had a funny thought though, of when Steve gets fully into it and does what a lot of us crafters do and stocks up on yarn for future projects.
I bought a big ass show organizer for all of mine and have to restrict myself to just what fits in there
(Also I’m picturing Eddie in a wonky hat like the one I just tried to make for my sister’s cat but he’s still wearing it super proud)
At the start of the pandemic, I got a new job where I was working half in the office and half from home. I also moved out of my parents’ house so I suddenly alone all the time and to kinda cope with that, I picked up knitting. I originally tried crochet but I just couldn’t get my hands to work right, but I’ve gotten it down (at least enough to do the second row), and I agree with you. It is very therapeutic and I’m happy that it was able to help you through a rough time.
And lol, but all of us crafters are the same because I have a whole shelf dedicated to yarn I bought for future knitting (and now crochet) projects.
It’s not Steve’s intention.
He is just trying this hobby out so he can tell his physical therapist that he gave it a go and it didn’t work. Steve is not crafty or creative like Eddie, so he doesn’t need to buy all this stuff.
But he did need to buy melting chocolate, so he agreed to go when Robin asked if he wanted to go to Michael’s with her. And yeah, maybe he did pick up a new crochet hook but that’s because there’s clearly something wrong with his. What other explanation is there for why he keeps skipping stitches?
And maybe he did get a new skein of yarn, but he’s just being practical. If he’s going to make Eddie a hat than he is going to need a color that compliments Eddie’s complexion, right? He might as well get this blue too. It’s a pretty color and there’s only like, five skeins left. It could disappear forever.
Then he bought a bowl to hold his yarn but it was cute! It was shaped like a sloth. And yeah, he got the yarn winder thing. That’s just practical. And okay, well. Joann’s has magazines with patterns in them so Steve’s going to need that.
And it all kinda just snowballs until, “Babe, what the hell did you buy for a hundred and fifty dollars at Michael’s?”
Steve, surrounded by yarn in each color, “Nothing.”
Also, Eddie absolutely wears anything that Steve makes him. A fan took a picture of him buying cigarettes in a lopsided hat. Another fan took a picture of him at show where his guitar strap has a single crochet chain wrapped around it. There’s a Tiktok where Eddie is pulling his hair up with a crocheted scrunchie.

Modern AU headcanon: Jean’s Bear Hat
Tumblr media
It all started when Jean’s mom retired and finally found herself with more time on her hands. After beginning a much needed declutter of her house, she found stacks and stacks of pictures documenting her darling boy’s life and decided to join a local scrapbooking circle.
While working on a page dedicated to Jean’s first snow day, an older woman with kind eyes asked about Jean’s bear hat.
“Oh, the hat? I actually made it for him when he was a baby.” She smiles, looking at the picture and remembering how he loved the hat so much he insisted on wearing it past the winter, into the spring, and only relinquishing it in the summer when it became too hot.
“I wish I had one of those this upcoming week, it’s supposed to be freezing,” the old woman commented while bundling herself in layers preparing to face the cold.
This may have been just a passing comment to some, but to Jean’s mom this sparked another idea. She went to the craft store the next day and bought some new crochet hooks and yarn, filling her free time with even more crafting.
Tumblr media
“I’m so excited for you to open your gift!” She beamed, handing a gift bag overflowing with tissue paper to her son and pulling him in for a big hug.
“Thanks mom, you didn’t have to get me anything.”
“Of course I had to, you’re my favorite child.”
“I’m your only child.” Jean smiled, rustling through the tissue paper until he reaches the gift at the bottom of the bag.
His eyebrows quirk inwards as he feels the knit texture and pulls out his new bear hat.
“Do you like it? I made it for you, just like the one you had when you were a baby!” She says, her eyes lighting up.
“I… uh…” Jean nods his head. “I love it, thanks mom.” He pulls her in for a hug and gives her a kiss on the cheek, knowing that his friends are going to tease him relentlessly for wearing his new hat when they meet up later.
Tumblr media
“Nice hat, Jean-Bear,” Eren snickers as Jean walks over to meet his friends, everyone chuckling at his newest accessory.
“Shut up, Jeager. I have to wear it, my mom just gave it to me.”
“My mom just gave it to me,” Connie says mockingly, joining in on poking fun at his friend.
Sasha pulls out her phone and snaps a picture with the flash going off right in Jean’s face.
“Cut it out guys. I know it’s dumb, but she would be really upset if I didn’t wear it so I have to. Just pretend I’m not wearing it.”
“That’s not as easy as you think it is,” points out Armin, earning him a high five from Eren.
A gust of wind rips through the air, causing everyone to shiver. “See?” Jean points out, “I’m the only one who’s still warm, so suck it.”
They go through the rest of the day, Jean pretending to be annoyed and purely wearing the hat as an obligation. Secretly though, he loved how special it was that his mom took the time to recreate his bear hat.
He also relished in having bragging rights the next week when all of his friends got sick from the weather but he remained perfectly healthy.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading! This is a little illustration turned headcanon. It was floating around in my mind with the weather being freezing these past few weeks.
Have a drawing suggestion? Leave an ask!

4.1.24 - the importance of learning new things
As much as I think academic & work focus is incredibly important going into the new year, one of my other goals is to practice doing more: to learn all of the things I want to do, in addition to work, in addition to writing. I want to know how to do thousands of little things, and I think the longer we wait, the less likely we are to do them.
Picking up a new hobby doesn't have to be buying a dozen textbooks and spending hundreds of dollars on lessons because you might have the slightest interest: it can be from whatever you have here, now, and you'll never learn if you don't get started.
Some of the things I've been getting into (as I've mentioned before) are baking & crocheting. it just feels so cozy and nice & I love the idea of comfort.
here is a list of things I want to / you should try that's new!
learning a new language. fifteen minutes a day, I kid you not. I'm learning latin on duolingo and I don't ever think about it, but when I do it (25 day streak 💪🏻), I'm starting to notice my improvements
consuming good media. and that's not scrolling for half an hour on tumblr. it's books—deep ones and silly ones and ones about romance and dragons and apocalypses. it's movies! I watched keira knightley's pride and prejudice twice in the last few months, and also three men and a baby which is something I never thought I would watch, but it was quite funny I think. and I learn from it: I cannot write humour or romance for the life of me, so it's basically studying to write (is the self-gaslighting too evident?)
learning to crochet. I made a silly little headband today, after scrolling through pinterest and desperately wanting one. I started crocheting in december to give as gifts (I completed none of my wips, much like when I write) and used the tools I had around me: an old rainbow loom hook and whatever string I could find. now I'm proud to say I can read somewhat fluently crochet acronyms.
baking. I keep saying this. I know. but when I tell you a two years ago I was exploding cupcakes in the oven and last month I made bakery-style cookies...I made bread! a loaf of bread! (in a bread machine, but it's so good and I instantly made another. there is one in the bread machine right now). honestly it just made me feel that much better about improvement, and trying new things, and that is the mindset I want for the new year.
learning to code. in all honesty, I never thought I was a compsci - engineer kind of person. then this year, out of sudden (masterminded) urges, I joined a bunch of tech and robotics initiatives, and maybe it's the sense of community (I can rejoice in finding another nerdy group) but now I am happily chauffeuring myself to these meetings 4h a week. I'm looking into pursuing more into the fields of eng and science. and I'm learning some code from one of the friends I've made!
starting a blog. ...I know most of the people who linger around my blog stay for the writing content (the last posts have turned this writerblr into a digital diary, and I'm only half sorry for that). but since I've joined tumblr (almost three years ago now!) I've got to meet so many wonderful people (including you!) and want to try so many things.
and I get it. it's overwhelming. so here are some starting goals that maybe I'll try also.
start doing art. -> make a card for someone as a gift.
learn a new sport & start exercising. (I'm trying out track & field in the spring, so stay tuned to figure out how that goes) -> see if someone will come play ball with you. do 1 or 2 youtube workout videos a week.
film videos of your daily life. it doesn't need to be for posting! -> edit together clips you've taken for a last year recape.
start a scrapbook. -> print out photos and dig up construction paper. decorate a page.
make a poetry journal. -> go on pinterest to read poetry! pin styles you like and set fifteen minutes to writing.
make a regular journal! -> write once a day. just try: goals for the day in the morning, or a recap at night.
try your hand at gardening. -> research plants that grow well in your region. see if any of the seeds you may have at home are useful. water your lawn. buy a plant and try to keep it alive (set reminders, leave it in front of your sink)
learn to make candles. -> watch a youtube tutorial. see if you can play around with candles you already have.
play chess. -> see if someone will play chess with you. no? chess.com is right there. go make an account. go find a stranger.
learn to play an instrument off youtube. -> maybe you have a piano sitting around, or a guitar you've never touched. you don't even need to master it. pick a song you like and google that. no instrument? maybe there's a way to play drums with home items.
go for a run. -> once a week. a set time. just shoes and the outdoors. too cold? go to a gym and use a treadmill. maybe that's not possible? skip rope.
start / join a book club. -> just you, or some close friends, or people online. a book a month. talk about it.
** on that note, would anyone like to join a tumblr book club? slide into my asks and maybe we can get a blog list!
thank you for reading again <3 until next time.

For the fox requests, ler Miguel and lee hobie, where hobie has been annoying him all day so he wrecks him?
I love your work btw
“And you… I tried to ignore you but I just can’t.”
“Just pretend I’m not even here”.
Hobie had made that sound much easier than it was- much much easier than it could ever be, and Miguel was starting to question how anyone in the Spider Society had managed to stay sane with the Spider Punk around.
“I just don’t get it, Peter. I mean.. the kid’s insane. All he does is cause problems for me- and not in the same way Miles causes problems, no. It’s worse. Hobie does it on purpose.”, Miguel sighed, leaning back in his chair as he finished his rant to Peter B, who was… definitely listening as he crocheted Mayday a rather adorable hat.
“Oh, come on, Miguel”, Peter started, furrowing his eyebrows as he concentrated on the difficult pattern he was trying to create, “The kids really aren’t that bad. I mean, sure, Hobie can be a handful, but most of the time he’s trying to get a rise out of you”, he said as he put down the crochet hook, standing up and examining the little hat with a content smile. “And besides…” he started to leave the room, stopping to stand beside Miguel for only a moment, reaching a hand out “You make it really easy”.
It was that damn spider-sense that Miguel didn’t have that left him vulnerable and had him squirming from the prodding of Peter’s fingers against his side, though they were gone in an instant as Peter left the room. Still, the blush that covered his cheeks as he grumbled was very much there as he huffed and tried to shake off the residual tingles.
“Stupid fuckin… ticklish spider people”, he muttered to himself as he sat, considering what to do about Hobie’s attitude. He stayed like that for quite a few minutes, fiddling with a pen as he considered how he’d ever manage to get Hobie to just listen for once, but after a while, he’d lost his train of thought. He found himself thinking about anything and everything that could worm its way into his mind, and he’d never admit to the small, rare smile that tugged at his lips as he thought of how Peter previously poked and prodded at his sides.
Suddenly, Miguel snapped himself out of it with a faint blush dusting his cheeks, his eyes widening as that small smile turned to a smirk as he had what he considered a phenomenal idea.
“..Ohoh… I’m gonna get that little shit so good.”
__________________
“Aye, look who’s here!”, Hobie said as he swiveled in his chair at the sound of an opening door, “What’s got you smilin’ like that, bruv? Never seen you happy before a day in my life- it was the only thing I liked about you, really”
Miguel’s smile dropped instantly, his top lip curling as he became irritated already, but he took a deep breath and pulled himself together as he remembered Peter’s words.
“He’s only trying to get a rise out of you.”
‘Right..”, Miguel thought as he took another breath, ‘He’s looking for a reaction’
‘…and he’s about to get one.’
Really, that was the only reason Hobie went out of his way to aggravate Miguel. He knew how easy it was to piss the guy off.
Miguel huffed as Hobie simply sat there, his legs propped on the table as he looked at his phone with a smug grin. There was silence for a few moments until.. thwip.
Hobie’s eyebrows furrowed as he realized his arms were stuck to his sides, his phone still in hand as he struggled against the orange webs, “Wh- are you serious? Real fuckin funny, mate. Now, let me go”, he demanded in an irritated tone as he sat up straight.
Miguel clicked his tongue as he approached the punk in a slow, almost stalkerish manner. “You know, Hobie. I struggle to deal with all of you kids. I mean, Gwen doesn’t listen to me, Pav is just all over the place all the time, and Miles… well, he’s just Miles.”
Hobie glared at the older spider as he spoke whilst he paced back and forth.
“I’ve managed so far with those three, but you… I had no idea what I was gonna do with you. I thought about it and thought about it for quite some time. You see, Hobie, you’re nothing like the other kids, and I respect you for that, but I had no idea how to work with you. You have nothing in common with them…”, Miguel placed his hands on the back of the chair, leaning down a bit, “Or so I thought… then I remembered the one tiny little thing that all spider people have in common…”.
Hobie swore he could hear Miguel grinning, but still, he sat there, completely unamused by Miguel’s little speech. “Is that supposed to scare me, old man? I’m not afraid of you. I ain’t got no reason to be afraid of you- or anyone for that matter. Now, get me out of these fuckin wEBS- ACK!”.
Hobie’s eyes widened for just a moment as he tried to twist to the left upon feeling one single claw prod at his side. He swiveled a bit in the chair to look at Miguel, who he could see now was wearing a shit eating grin. Hobie’s face turned to one of obvious irritation as he tugged harder at the webs, trying his best to get out of them. “Don’t even fuckin try it, mate. I swear to god I’ll- nngh! S-Stop that!”, he squeaked again as he felt a claw prod at his other side now
Miguel hummed, a triumphant grin on his face as he continued to give his speech. “See, to get to you, I just had to use the one thing that gets to every spider person”. Finally, he reached down and dig five claws into each of Hobie’s sides, “and you’re just as sensitive as the rest of us~”.
Hobie clenched his eyes shut, tightening his fists in an attempt to ease the horribly ticklish sensation. He was finding it harder and harder to fight the giggles bubbling in his throat. “You- You ohold bastard! Quihit it!”, he attempted to bark the words, but they came out through broken, poorly suppressed laughter.
Miguel squeezed and clawed at Hobie’s sides that were somewhat protected by the thin t-shirt he was wearing. But as he realized Hobie was doing a rather good job at holding back, the older hummed and tickled his way down to Hobie’s hips, finding the hem of his shirt and worming his fingers underneath it.
As Hobie continued to struggle against the webs, his eyes snapped open when he felt those claws against the bare skin of his hips. He jerked violently, squealing as he twisted his hips “NO- Nono nohoho! Fuhuhuck you, get AWAHAY FROM THEHERE!”.
Miguel seemed almost taken aback as the floodgates of desperate, ticklish laughter seemed to open suddenly. “Get away from the hips, huh? That’s pretty interesting. I thought all spider people had the same ti- uh… sensitive spots”, he said, blushing as he stammered over the t-word. “But you continue to prove me wrong…”
As badly as he wanted to, Hobie couldn’t keep himself from laughing as Miguel squeezed his hips rapidly, occasionally wiggling his fingers against the hipbone, “NohoHOHO! Fuhuck you! St-STOHOP IHIT YOU OLD FUHUCK!”, he twisted his hips as much as the webs allowed him to, occasionally arching his back in an attempt to get away, but those claws seemed to be attached.
Miguel hissed a bit through his teeth, Hobie’s insults certainly not hitting as hard as the poor boy laughed himself to death “Old fuck, huh? You know, you really need to watch your language, Hobie. Maybe I can fix that too”, Miguel teased, his method changing from rapid squeezing and wiggling to quick scratches and spiders against the punk’s hipbones.
Miguel really couldn’t care less about the kid’s language, he just wanted to tease Hobie.
Hobie’s laughter raised in both pitch and volume as his thrashing became frantic. He knew his hips were ticklish, but he’d never in his life been tickled like this and those fucking claws were driving him mad. “NNGH- StahaHAP! Shihit that tihIHICKLES!”.
Miguel huffed out a laugh as he laid off that particular spot, deciding to worm his claws up to Hobie’s sides very carefully as not to scratch him. Hobie’s laughter became less hysterical instantly, though it was still obviously a very ticklish spot.
“Mmm, sorry, kid. If you want me to stop, you gotta apologize for all the trouble you’ve caused, and then maybe.. I’ll let you go”, Miguel said, smiling like a Cheshire cat as he gently scratched at one side while digging into the other relentlessly.
Hobie hiccuped as he shook his head in response to Miguel’s words, “F-Fahahat chance, m-ATE! NOHOT THE HIPS AGAIN, FUHUCK!”. His laughter was full of little squeaks and hiccups as Miguel’s claws descended to his hips again.
“Yeahhh, that’s not gonna cut it”, Miguel said with a sigh as one hand squeezed from Hobie’s hips up to his sides while the other squeezed from his sides down to his hips before they swapped, keeping Hobie in a horribly ticklish frenzy. “Come on~ all you gotta say is one little word and you’re free! Unless… unless you don’t want me to stop~”, he teased, smirking as he continued to tickle at a steady pace.
Hobie’s eyes widened at the implication, and he didn’t even wanna get into why it made him blush so goddamn much, but as it started to become more difficult to form cohesive thoughts, he finally gave in
“N-NahaHAha! Okahay OKAY! I’m sOHOrry! I’m sohorry! J-Just stohop! Plehease!”
Miguel smiled victoriously as he slowly ceased his tickling fingers. Using one claw, he ripped the webs that held Hobie in place, chuckling as the usually tough Spider Punk became nearly limp in the chair.
“You-“, Hobie started as he took deep breaths, fighting off residual giggles as his hips and sides still tingled “You. Are. Awful.”, he said, glaring at Miguel as he swiveled and propped his feet on the table again.
Miguel just shrugged, “And you’re a lot squeakier than I thought you’d be”, he shot back with a smile- a genuine smile.
Hobie sat in silence for a moment, still glaring, but as he looked at Miguel and saw that happy smile that was so rarely seen, he just huffed and went back to playing on his phone “Whatever”, he grumbled.
As Miguel stood there, still poking fun at Hobie, he thought to himself.
‘Maybe these kids really aren’t that bad…’
And as Hobie sat, pretending to ignore the older spider, he thought to himself as well.
Maybe he enjoyed spending time with Miguel…
..and maybe he really didn’t mind the tickling that much either.

Steve crochets Eddie a scarf part 1, part 2, part 3, Ao3
-
Steve has heard of knitting circles, of course, but he’d never expected to be a part of one.
(Of course, since it’s just him, Joyce, and El, and none of them knit, it’s really more of a crocheting triangle – except for that one time Murray Bauman joined them; he knits, because of course he does, and that had made it into more of a mixed yarncraft square, but that doesn’t really roll off the tongue.)
He also hadn’t expected that the true purpose of a knitting circle (crocheting triangle) is not to better facilitate any kind of fiber crafting, but mostly to spend time snacking and gossiping.
He can’t say he really minds.
“So, Steve,” Joyce says, looking up from the baby blanket she’s been working on (one of her coworkers, Margey, is pregnant; she’s a nice young woman whose boyfriend doesn’t deserve her, and who very much hopes she’s having a girl, even though her boyfriend wants a son, so Joyce is making the blanket optimistically—or vindictively—pink. Steve loves that he knows all of this), “I never did ask – did that someone like their scarf?”
“Oh. Um.” He has no idea how to answer that. Eddie had definitely liked the scarf, had liked it enough to give Steve a gift in return—a very thoughtful one, actually—and then Steve had gone and ruined it and probably scared Eddie away forever, and maybe now Eddie wanted nothing to do with the scarf?
Steve really has no idea.
He’s probably been silent for too long, though.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure they did. Thanks again for your help.”
Steve follows this statement with an incredibly nonchalant gulp of coffee, which is about when El turns to him and asks, “Who is ‘someone’? Did you finish a scarf for someone other than Eddie?”
Coffee is not air, and it does not belong in Steve’s lungs. Luckily, he only inhales a little bit of it, and manages to cough it out before Joyce feels the need to reach over and thump him on the back.
“No. Nope, just… just Eddie’s,” Steve rasps, decidedly not looking at the knowing smile that’s tucked itself up in the corners of Joyce’s mouth.
“Oh. Well, then he definitely likes it,” El says. “He’s wearing it every time I see him.”
“That sounds like a good sign,” Joyce says leadingly.
“Yeah, maybe.” Steve shrugs and focuses on his new project (Henderson’s scarf; it’s thinner than Eddie’s but broader, so it can be folded over, and he’s making it with colorful, variegated yarn).
“Are you going to ask him out?” Joyce asks.
Steve wonders if it’s possible to drown himself in his cup of coffee.
It doesn’t matter either way; El’s attention has already snapped back to him, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm, and she’d probably just find a way to drag him back from the dead.
“Are you?” El demands with a grin.
Abandoning his crochet hook, Steve reaches up to shove his fingers under his glasses and pinch the bridge of his nose (he’s still getting used to the glasses; he doesn’t like wearing them, but they do help with his migraines, and Joyce makes disappointed Mom faces at him when he doesn’t wear them, so he at least brings them to the crochet triangle). “Probably not.”
He can hear the frown in El’s voice as she asks, “Why not?”
“Pretty sure I blew my chances there,” Steve sighs.
“What happened?” Joyce asks; when Steve lets his glasses fall back into place to chance a glance in her direction, she looks sympathetic.
It’s been about a week since Steve sent Eddie running from his house, and Steve hasn’t really had the opportunity to talk to anyone about it yet. Robin would usually be the first (and probably only) person to hear about it, but he hasn’t quite been ready for what he knows will be an entirely honest, but not entirely gentle, assessment of the situation.
El and Joyce are likely to be kinder, but it also feels a little weird to talk to them about his love life. Joyce has been more of a mother to him than his own ever was, and even though El is rapidly approaching sixteen, she’s still like nothing so much as a kid sister. Do people talk about this sort of thing with family members? Steve has no idea.
Whatever.
“He, uh. He actually brought me a gift,” Steve finally says, finding great interest in the view out the window behind Joyce. “Like, to say thank you for the scarf.”
Joyce nods encouragingly.
“What was it?” El asks.
“A, uh. A Hellfire shirt. For his little nerd club. Except he said that it’s our nerd club now because I’m a member, even though I don’t play.” Steve shrugs. “I guess because I do other stuff for them.”
“That sounds nice, Steve,” Joyce says, and Steve nods.
“It was. It is! It was really nice, and I wanted to show him I appreciated it, so I gave him a hug, right? And that was nice, too, and he returned it, and he – like, he seemed interested,” Steve’s on a roll now, there’s no stopping the car crash of words coming out of his mouth, of all the habits he had to pick up from Robin– “so, y’know, when he said he hoped he got the right size shirt, I said maybe I should try it on to make sure, and he said that was a good idea, and—I would like to reiterate, he really seemed interested—so I just, y’know, kinda took off my shirt right there. In front of him. To try the new one on. And I might’ve thrown the other one at him. And he left very quickly after that.”
Of all the reactions Steve had expected, Joyce laughing at him hadn’t been high on the list, but that’s exactly what she does. So hard she nearly falls out of her chair.
Steve watches her in open-mouthed shock for a moment before exclaiming, “It’s not funny!”
“No, no, no, I’m sorry!” Joyce gasps in between peals of laughter, flapping a hand at him. “Of course it isn’t!”
This draws a giggle out of El, and Steve turns to point a finger at her. “Don’t you start, too.”
El slaps a hand over her mouth, but it’s very clear that she, too, is laughing.
“I seriously think I scared him off!” Steve insists. “He ran out of there so fast he took my sweater with him. I liked that sweater.”
This only makes Joyce laugh harder, and Steve has no choice but to sit back on the couch with a huff and wait for the mirth to die out.
“Okay,” Joyce breathes, running a thumb under her eyes to catch the tears while El does her best to bite down on her smile. “Okay, I’m sorry, I’m good now.”
Steve grumbles, picking his scarf back up, but he can’t say that he’s really that displeased; it’s nice, after everything, to hear everyone still laugh (and even if he’d prefer it not be at his expense, he doesn’t mind now and then).
“Do you want my advice, sweetie?” Joyce asks.
“Since I’m providing entertainment, it only seems fair,” Steve says, and Joyce snorts.
“Okay.” She abandons her chair and comes to perch on the arm of the sofa beside Steve, wrapping an arm around his shoulders in a one-armed hug that he doesn’t resist in the slightest. “You probably did come on a little strong.”
Steve sags a little against Joyce, and she’s quick to continue. “But! I really don’t think you ruined your chances. Maybe he just wasn’t expecting such an… immediate reaction, or maybe he was worried that he was misreading the situation–”
“How can you misread someone taking their shirt off?”
“People convince themselves of all sorts of things where love is involved,” Joyce says, rubbing Steve’s shoulder, and Steve mentally swaps out ‘love’ for ‘feelings,’ because he can’t think about love right now (not again, not yet). “But Eddie seems like a pretty straightforward kind of guy; I’m sure he’d have told you if he wasn’t interested. You should just be honest with him. Talk to him.”
“But that’s not how it works,” El pipes up from Steve’s other side.
Steve and Joyce both look over, and El sets down the rainbow beanie she’s been working on (it has an absolutely excessive pompom on top, and Steve really hopes she’s planning to make Mike wear it), preparing to explain.
“In the movies,” El says earnestly, “that is not how it works. No one just talks about it, that’s… weird.”
Steve grins. El’s latest endeavor in pop culture education has been romcoms; she’s been devouring the entire section at Family Video, and Steve has taken great pleasure in offering her recommendations (Robin, meanwhile, insists he’s poisoning El’s mind with pre-packaged, heteronormative trash; Steve says Robin is just jealous that El doesn’t like her film recommendations; Robin tells Steve to go crochet a doily; then they get into an argument over the purpose of doilies—Robin insists they’re purely decorative, but Steve is certain they must have some kind of use—and forget about their original argument entirely).
“She has a point,” Steve says. “I can’t just go up to Eddie like, ‘Hey, sorry for sorta stripping in front of you, are we still cool, man?’ That would be really awkward.”
Joyce gives him a dry look. “Well you don’t have to phrase it like that.”
“Exactly!” Steve snaps his fingers, pointing at Joyce. “I can still talk to him, I just have to… you know, talk around it. Play it cool.”
El nods sagely. “Play it cool,” she echoes.
“See? El’s got me.” Steve grins, gesturing back at El for good measure.
“Okay.” Joyce holds her hands up, as if in surrender. “Apparently you guys know best. I’ll just take my advice and my happy relationship and go back to my chair.”
Steve shrugs. “Well, yeah, your method worked on Hopper, but I’m not trying to get with Hopper.”
“Ew.” El reaches over and gives Steve a shove. Joyce has a hand over her eyes, clearly trying not to laugh again.
“It’ll be fine, you’ll see,” Steve insists, and Joyce gives an affirmative hum that doesn’t really sound like she believes him at all.
But she will see. He’s just going to play it cool, Steve decides, as he pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose and goes back to crocheting a scarf for a mouthy fifteen-year-old he has trouble saying ‘no’ to.
He’s totally cool.
-
Steve realizes as the phone starts ringing that maybe he should have come up with a plan before dialing Eddie’s number.
The thing is, Steve isn’t really much of a planner; he has an idea, he follows through with the idea. He can deal with the consequences of the idea when they arise.
Unfortunately, the consequence of his current idea is Eddie answering the phone, and it has just arisen.
“Hello?”
Steve blanks.
Greeting. He should greet Eddie.
“Hey, Eddie.”
Nice.
“Steve. Hey.” Eddie doesn’t sound displeased, but maybe a little higher pitched than normal. Nervous? Maybe that’s just the connection.
There is a moment of awkward silence in which neither of them says anything because Steve is the one who called and he hasn’t told Eddie what he called for, mostly because his idea had pretty much boiled down to ‘call Eddie, feel out the situation, but don’t talk about the thing.’
It’s Eddie who finally speaks, sounding more like himself when he asks, “So, what can I do for you?”
“Oh, I was just calling to… check,” Steve pauses, briefly, thinking frantically, “what kind of snacks you wanted. For Friday.”
“…Friday.”
Steve’s stomach drops. Did Eddie actually want nothing to do with him now, or had he just forgotten?
“Yeah. You guys were planning to play over at my place this week. That’s… still a thing, right?”
“Right! Yes, yeah, it’s – yeah.” Steve can almost see Eddie nodding on the other end. “I just wasn’t sure you’d… want to.”
“Why wouldn’t I want to?” Steve frowns; they are perilously close to talking about it.
“Uh. No reason, I guess? Didn’t want to make assumptions on your behalf,” Eddie says. “Y’know, sweep in and totally take over your house when you’re not feeling it, and then you’re standing there giving us invaders your best mom glare.”
Steve rolls his eyes, fond despite himself. “I do not have a mom glare,” he says (Eddie isn’t going to listen, just like no one else listens when he tries to tell them the same thing). “Anyway, how about you just tell me what you want to eat, huh?”
“Oh, you know me, I’m not picky,” Eddie says breezily. “I’ll eat whatever you want to feed me.”
“You know that means you’re not allowed to complain about what I pick, right?” Steve says, banishing the thought of actually feeding something to Eddie (but– flirting. Flirting is a good sign, right?).
“Not a peep. Cross my heart,” Eddie says, and Steve can’t help but smile in response to the way he’s certain Eddie must also be smiling right now.
“Uh huh,” Steve hums, as if he doesn’t believe Eddie (and he doesn’t, really, because Eddie is pickier than he makes himself out to be, and he will complain if only to be a nuisance), and he wants to leave it there, leave it on that light note of banter, but– he also wants to be sure. “Hey, Eddie?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you want me to wear the shirt?”
There’s a beat of silence. “Well, it is standard club attire, Steve,” Eddie teases, and Steve gives in to a little huff of frustration.
He bites the bullet, decides to be just a little more direct. “Sure, but– do you want me to wear it?”
“I–” Eddie starts, stops, falls silent. Steve holds his breath. Then, finally: “Yeah. I really do.”
Steve sighs out into a grin. “Great. I’ll, uh. I’ll see you Friday, then?”
“Yeah,” Eddie says again, “I’ll see you Friday.”
Steve’s pretty sure he hasn’t had fucking butterflies in his stomach since maybe his junior year of high school, but damn if he doesn’t get them now, just thinking about the end of the week.
(He’s probably beyond pretending he’s anything like cool about this, but he’s surprisingly okay with that.)
-
Friday evening brings the promised onslaught of invaders, and Steve greets them at the door, the foyer filling with the squeaking of snow-wet shoes and the extended rustling of winter coats being shucked and shoved into the closet.
It’s the kids who come in first—just Dustin, Lucas, Mike, and Will tonight—chattering at each other and at Steve and making themselves right at home, as usual, but it’s the older Hellfire members who clock Steve’s shirt first. He can see the moment Jeff sets eyes on it, elbowing Gareth and nodding at Steve; Gareth snickers, which alerts Grant, who looks at Steve and rolls his eyes.
Steve raises his eyebrows at the three of them, but they don’t seem inclined to say anything. They don’t even seem that surprised.
Dustin, however, speaks up almost immediately upon noticing.
“Steve, what are you wearing?”
“Clothes,” Steve retorts. “What are you wearing?”
Mike, now alerted to Steve’s choice in attire, looks utterly affronted. “Where the hell did you get that?” he demands.
“It was a gift, Wheeler, don’t burst a blood vessel,” Steve says, which does not seem to go a long way at all in getting the kid to chill out.
“The t-shirts are for Hellfire members only,” Mike says, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Which is how we know Steve is a member,” Eddie says from the doorway, where he’s finally made it in from parking the van, his jacket still zipped and the scarf Steve made for him wrapped around his neck.
“He’s not, though!” Mike insists. “He doesn’t even play!”
Eddie hums, stepping fully into the foyer and shutting the door behind himself before making a show of looking around the room.
“Tell me, Wheeler: whose house are we in right now?”
Mike stares at Eddie, brows raised, not quite able to tell if he’s being asked a trick question or not. “Steve’s?”
“And who probably has snacks waiting in the kitchen for our ravenous horde?” Eddie goes on.
This time, Mike sighs. “Steve, but–”
Eddie cuts in. “And who gives those of you without the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle rides to and from club meetings whenever your little hearts desire?”
“Technically, we rode with Jeff and Grant tonight,” Dustin pipes up.
“Other club members! An excellent point, Henderson!” Eddie points to Dustin in agreement, who mostly looks baffled, if a little amused. “It’s a service we provide for each other.”
Mike rolls his eyes. “Yeah, but–”
“Now tell me, Wheeler,” Eddie rolls right over Mike’s protest, slinging an arm across his shoulders. “Who founded the Hellfire Club?”
“You did,” Mike says, glancing uncertainly at Eddie.
“And who ultimately decides whether or not to grant membership to another person?”
“…You do.”
“And who, pray tell, has the ability to make tonight’s session very challenging for our party’s gallant paladin?” Eddie smiles, sharply saccharine in the face of Mike’s sour frown, and reaches up to pat Mike on the cheek when he doesn’t answer. “And don’t you forget it.”
There’s a beat of silence.
“Couldn’t you have picked a better-fitting shirt, though?” Lucas asks Steve.
“It was a gift,” Steve reiterates. “And shut up, this fits fine.”
“Right,” Dustin drawls, looking from Steve to Eddie with narrow-eyed suspicion.
“I didn’t realize my fashion choices were that interesting,” Steve scoffs. “Are you guys gonna play tonight, or not? Some of you do still have a curfew, and I’m not fielding angry parent calls again.”
This gets everyone back in motion, the group trickling out of the foyer and through the living area to get to the dining room. Gareth is the last one to go, bouncing his eyebrows and grinning at Eddie, who gives him an entirely ineffectual shove and sends him laughing out of the room.
And then it’s just Eddie and Steve.
“I really do like the shirt,” Steve says, hoping to fill the silence before it curdles awkwardly between them. “It’s comfy.”
Eddie smiles, different from the sharp one he’d pulled out a moment ago, now amused and fond and much more real. “It’s a good look for you,” he says, looking Steve up and down, and– that.
That had been the reaction Steve had been hoping for when he’d first put it on.
Maybe he had come on a little too strong at first. Maybe Eddie had just needed time. But whatever had happened, Eddie seems to be fully on board now.
“It’s definitely growing on me,” Steve says. “But I’m kind of getting the feeling that you like it more.”
“Guilty,” Eddie admits, with remarkably little guilt.
But when he steps forward, closing in on Steve’s space, the hand he raises is hesitant. Steve doesn’t move, tries very hard to broadcast that he is very alright with this, and smiles when Eddie finally brushes his fingers along the line of Steve’s collar.
“What can I say? I like seeing a little me on you,” Eddie says.
Steve reaches up to tug at the scarf, still tied around Eddie’s neck. “I think I know the feeling,” he says. “But you should let me take these for you. You have to be melting by now.”
“We don’t all run hot, Harrington,” Eddie grumbles, even as he’s unwrapping the scarf. “I even dressed in an extra layer tonight.”
Steve is about to ask Eddie what the hell he’s talking about when Eddie unzips his jacket in one decisive motion and reveals– Steve’s sweater. The one Eddie had accidentally(?) walked out with last week.
He’s wearing it under his jacket.
It looks good on him, a bright splash of blue-green where there are usually only more subdued shades, and Steve can only take Eddie’s jacket with automatically curling fingers as it’s pressed into his hand.
“I’ve been wondering if you were going to bring that back,” Steve finally says. “It’s one of my favorites.”
There’s a moment of flusterment before Eddie smirks at Steve. “You mean you didn’t want me to keep it? You seemed so worried about how cold I’ve been,” he says. “And you did throw it at me.”
It’s Steve’s turn to flush under Eddie’s words. “Yeah, well, I didn’t expect you to run off with it.”
Eddie bites his lip. “Okay, yeah, I might’ve… panicked. A little bit,” he admits. “I wasn’t really expecting to, uh. To get what I wanted. Wasn’t sure what to do with it.”
Alright– alright, fine. Steve concedes. They might have to actually talk about it. Just a little.
“You don’t have to do anything with it. You’re not obligated,” Steve says. “But it’s there for you, whenever you want it. If you do still want it.”
Eddie’s eyes meet Steve’s, dark and sincere. “I really, really do. Didn’t mean to make you doubt.”
The silence sits softly between them this time, filled with a smiling kind of certainty. Steve isn’t particularly worried about it becoming awkward, but he finds he can’t help but tease, “So do I get my sweater back, or what?”
“Well, it is kind of warm, now that I’m inside. I guess I should give it back,” Eddie says.
He takes a step back from Steve and promptly whips the sweater off, rucking up the Hellfire shirt he’s wearing underneath and revealing a stretch of lean stomach before he pulls the hem of the t-shirt back down and tosses the sweater at Steve.
“That’s better,” Eddie declares. “I can go get the game started now.”
The teasing glint in Eddie’s eye as he turns away is all Steve needs to dump the clothes in his arms onto the side table and reach out to catch Eddie around the waist.
“Nope, not yet,” Steve says, pulling Eddie back towards him.
Eddie starts to speak, maybe to question him, probably to tease him, but Steve thinks they’ve waited long enough. With one hand still resting on Eddie’s waist, Steve brings his other up to cup his cheek, and leans in.
He can’t say who really initiates it, because Eddie meets him halfway and is kissing him back with equal fervor; he’s clearly recovered from the chill he’d been bothered by earlier, because his lips are warm and inviting against Steve’s.
They don’t stop until they stumble into the hall table, their surroundings having momentarily melted away into unimportant background fuzz.
“Figured I should really thank you for the shirt,” Steve barely pulls away enough to murmur against Eddie’s growing smile. “I thought about crocheting you a hat, but I think this is probably better.”
“Definitely better. But you know, I’ll have to reciprocate in kind.” Eddie shakes his head with the fakest look of regret Steve’s ever seen. “Shit, Steve, if I keep thanking you and you keep thanking me, we might be at this a while.”
Steve laughs, a small breath of amusement as he tilts his head to greet Eddie’s next kiss. “Oh, I’m counting on it.”

Fiber Arts Update Time!
Oh boy, where did I leave off last time?
OH, RIGHT.
Fine Merino yarn has been plied
Tumblr media
(I figured out how to cross-thread yarn while plying so I can use the hooks on both sides of the flyer; I can still only get maybe 40g of plied yarn onto this tiny bobbin, but that's still better than 30g, barely)
Tumblr media
(I deliberately over-plied this quite a bit! I figured with how soft the singles were, I had some leeway until things got too ropey, and that worked out pretty well)
and wet-finished
Tumblr media
(by fulling; five minutes of hot water, five minutes of cold water, aggressive thwacking. This yarn has to be sturdy when it's done!)
And the end result is amazing
Tumblr media
Best yarn I've made so far, hands-down. Springy, squishy, incredibly soft, but substantial and sturdy. I'll have to make a batch for myself at some point, too.
Next step: the dye pot! Once I stop being a chicken about it, anyway.
Also, remember this stuff?
Tumblr media
My amazing crocheting friend (for whom I'm also making the white merino yarn) has gotten around to turning that stuff into a shawl!
Tumblr media
This isn't technically the first wearable made of handspun that I have - I also made one single fingerless glove months ago, as a test - but it's still beyond exciting to see such a big project fully finished.
Next project: more purple glitter merino, for a headband for my mom.
Also, found a prospective Tour de Fleece project: pride flag colored merino for a Pride Flag Virus Shawl. Crochet friend is on board, all that's missing is the fibers and some math.
