A/N: I posted the wrong chapter by accident🤦🏼‍♀️my bad. This chapter is a little short but I promise, it’ll get juicy soon :3

I wake up the next morning to find Amelia already gone and a little note laying on my bedside table, scrawled in her writing.

“Early shift at work, gotta go. Love you x”

The second I make any attempt to sit up out of bed, my head begins pounding, a cruel reminder of the sheer amount of alcohol I consumed last night. Yet another stupid decision that’ll make me waste another day lazing around and not doing anything productive. I somehow manage to stumble out of bed and into my bathroom. Because i’m an idiot, I slept in my makeup, breaking one of the most important rules I ever set for myself; never ever sleep in makeup. Crumbs of mascara descend down my dehydrated cheeks, lipstick clinging to the dry parts of my lips.

I wash away the remnants, praying that a bit of cold water and soap will help me to feel a bit more like a human being, rather than a zombie. It does, but not by much. The next thing on my list is to eat something, a proper meal, rather than just bits and pieces of random things laying around my cupboards. I usually opt for what known as ‘girl dinner’, a random assortment of little snacks. My go-to has been pickles with some tortilla chips, and apple slices with peanut butter. Instead of my usual ‘girl dinner’, I make myself a small bowl of pasta with some leftover sauce I have. Carbs will soak up the alcohol, I think.

Once I have something substantial in my stomach, the hangover is slowly starting to fade. It’s still there, but it’s gone from unbearable to just unpleasant. My head still hurts, but the spinning has subsided, luckily. I open my curtains and the windows, letting in some air to rid the smell of wine and takeaway food from my flat. It doesn’t take me long to clear up, putting the empty bottles and packages into the bin and the dirty clothes into the laundry. Now, my flat actually looks somewhat homely, rather than a biohazard. Look at me go, I think.

It’s well into the day, almost 3pm when I decide to reward myself with some well-earned phone time of scrolling on the same three apps for longer than i’d like to. I get into position on the couch, legs sprawled out and open tik-tok, scrolling endlessly on silly videos of cats that warm my heart and stupid memes. I make a mental note to look into getting a cat after I’ve learned to take care of myself. Id love a cat right now, but the poor thing wouldn’t last long. I can’t even look after myself most of the time, let alone another living thing.

The ‘ding’ of the washing machine interrupts my phone time and forces me to get my arse up and finish my chores. I drag the wet clothes out and carry them over to the dryer, turning it on and letting it run. After that, I scoop up the warm, dry clothes off the floor and carry them into my bedroom to fold and put away, like the responsible, functioning adult i’m pretending to be. I’m stopped in my tracks when I plop down on my bed and see a suit jacket hanging up on the drawer of my dresser.

The laundry gets completely forgotten and I pull up his message from last night.

My brain begins spinning again as I try to formulate some sort of answer that will make me seem like a normal human being. It takes me a good few minutes of typing and then deleting, but I get there in the end.

Me: I apologise for my rant, I was a bit of a mess. Let me know when you’re free and we can arrange getting your jacket back to you. P.s. the party wasn’t that bad.

I hit send on the message and eagerly await his response, like a teenager with a crush. Fucking stupid, I think. The first time a man has shown me attention in a few weeks and here I am, waiting with baited breath for him to-

I giggle like a schoolgirl as soon as I read his text. My brain is screaming because the handsome man with the broad shoulders is texting me, but I take a deep breath to calm the giddiness. He hasn’t exactly left it open-ended so I decide not to reply and wait for him to text next, not wanting to get too ahead of myself, only to be let down because I jumped to conclusions.

I finish the rest of my chores, his texts pinging in my brain. I start to imagine what it’d sound like in his voice as i’m doing the dishes from tonight’s dinner. I imagine his deep, rumbly voice, the voice that makes my fucking bones tingle and brain shake in my skull. I imagine pressing my face against his neck as he talks, feeling the vibrations against my lips. I imagine his voice calling me that stupid nickname, ‘Dove’. I’ve never been called that before, by anyone else, but it’s fast becoming my favourite nickname. It’s better than ‘hot tits’, anyway, the name my ex-boyfriend used to call me when he’d try to be smooth. When I think about it, my ex is nothing compared to Price. Sure, he’s tall and conventionally attractive, but he doesn’t have the same attitude he does. He doesn’t exude masculinity and confidence the way he does.

For fuck sake, I’ve only met the man once and here I am fantasising about him while I pretend to watch yet another rerun of gilmore girls, my attention on him rather than the screen.

I know i’m getting ahead of myself, getting too excited, but I can’t bring myself to care. For the first time in a long time, I let myself indulge in the thoughts and fantasies about the handsome man i’ve only met once. The thoughts continue well into the night, from when I curl up on the couch, to when I settle into bed, hand between my thighs and mind full of his voice. My sticky skin shines with sweat and my moans echo off the walls of my bedroom. I’d normally worry about being heard by the neighbours, but my mind is too full of Price to give a shit.

After Bakugou loses you, he never stops texting you. Never stops saying good morning or good night. Or that he loves you. When he's headed to the gym or that he'll be home soon, just been a long day. That he dreamt of you, that he made your favorite meal and left the extra in the fridge.

Even if you don't eat anymore, can't anymore.

Still sends you songs that remind him of you, the little cat memes and the other random ass animal pictures with bold text at the bottom that says something witty, he always thought they were a little stupid. But he doesn't anymore. He swears he could hear your laugh now as he sends it. Big and loud.

Infections when it echoed around the room.

Now it was nothing more than an echo. Reverberating around the fragile ventricles of his heart that turned to glass the second he got the news.

He doesn't remember the last time his eyes weren't swollen but he does remember the last thing you sent him.

A silly little titkok he was too busy to watch, one of those long ones that scrolls and it's two little humanoid animal cartoons of people being best friends and in love.

He wish he watched it then, wish he said it was cute earlier. He watches it all the time now, tells you he misses you.

Tells you he'd like to dance in the kitchen one more time.

It doesn't matter that you don't reply back or that your voice mail isn't connected anymore.

At least he has a few voice memos saved in the log if he scrolls up enough, even if some of them are the two of you yelling at the other.

But most are soft, the side that the two of you shared only for each other. Whispers hushed by moonlight and sleep, barely there I love yous and I miss yous that he misses so much he sends one now.

I love you so fuckin much baby, I miss you, I hope you sleep well up there, if there is an up there. I have to believe there fuckin is, you were too good for this shit world anyway. I know I'm not the best but put in a good word for me, yea? I just want to see you again.

But what hurts the most is watching a message pop up almost right away, the text blurring with watery vision as he reads

Sans: The Lurker

This guy literally made the group chat, and then as soon everyone was added, he muted that shit immediately.

"Nope. This is too much."

Rarely talks in the chat, if at all, but occasionally the boys will see him pop in or see that he's online. Maybe sometimes he'll like something that Nick sent or respond with a thumbs up if you're super lucky.

The guys will start freaking out like; "SANS!? SANS IS HERE!"

Only for him to immediately leave again.

The boys have to DM Sans directly if they really need him to respond or see something.

He just prefers hanging out in person, is all. In person he's the life of the party. He's just nigh impossible to get ahold of.

Nick: The Planner

He actually uses the group chat for its intended purpose: planning in person get togethers and band rehearsals.

Always sending live show flyers or Event invites like "guys we have to go to this thing!" Only for his stuff to get buried under Jonas and Midas's constant spamming.

"I need to just invest in Remind for you pricks."

But because Nick is adamant their plans usually do come to fruition. It's just a matter of herding cats for him.

Some other uses for the group chat:

He sends lyrics and music bytes he writes & records to the chat to hear feedback.

Spreads current politics/news and information about protests, or local organizations to volunteer at.

Jonas: Meme spammer

Exactly as the name suggests. This guy fills the group chat with every meme and Tik tok he happens to find even a little funny.

He is Nick's greatest enemy, because it's always Jonas doing the burying with his silly like jokes. It's not intentional or malicious, he is just easily distracted.

Will always be trying to start a group call so he can just vibe with his friends at all hours of the night.

He and Alphys talk the most to each other. They just yap on and on.

Constantly sending videos of new tricks he learned on the skateboard, only for Midas to tell him he looks goofy.

Midas: The Instigator

This boy liiiiives for the drama.

Anytime Jonas begins sending memes while Nick is trying to plan he'll be like "epic Jonas moment," or "imagine interrupting our supreme leader," or even better, "thank the stars we changed the subject," which never fails to get both Nick and Jonas riled up

Midas just mutes with a shitty little grin on his face as chaos ensues.

It's all in good fun. He's just a much of a hype man as he is everyone's personal menace.

Especially for Maeve.

When Jonas sends videos of him doing a cool trick, Midas does the same trick with a finger skateboard and makes a joke like "mine's way sicker."

The embodiment of this emoji: 😈

Never sends pictures of himself. He never really knows if he can trust cameras with his eyes. It's just a constant thing he has to be conscious of, unfortunately.

Alphys: Chronically online / Talkative

She is the first to open the groupchat any time someone sends anything. Immediate responses.

Some say it's being chronically online, some say it's a crippling fear of being forgotten, either way she's the first to speak.

Double texts like no one's business. No one mind's though, she's just got a lot to say and she's a lot more confident online than irl. Less stuttering.

Will ask if people want to go on a convenient store run with her at 3 am. For some reason, Sans actually responds? (it's because they're both awake. The boys will read over the chats and go insane.)

Is constantly sending pictures of cute girls like "omg, should I talk to her? Should I ask if she's gay? omg"

Only for Midas to be like "why are you taking pictures of random people."

If someone begins venting to the chat she's the one to try ad offer advice and comfort before anyone else.

Maeve: The Tea Spiller

"Guys, you're never gonna believe what happened/who I saw/what I heard--"

"Oh my god, I need to tell my girls!" she says about her groupchat filled with rambunctious boys and a lesbian.

The tea can range from political talk, petty school/subculture scene gossip all the way to, "Oh my stars, I just saw a squirrel steal an acorn from another squirrel! Someone call TMZ!"

She's the first to know about anything going on outside of the friend group.

But also the first to defuse gossip beginning to spread within the friend group.

"Hey, let's not talk behind Sans's back. If you have a problem, you need to go to him. Don't be a coward."

She usually calls Midas down from his gremlin hours and laugh the hardest at Jonas's memes.

All around amazing friend. Always keeps the conversation interesting. LOVE HER!

Bonus:

Frisk: Fit Check!

Sans reared his face in the group chat just to warn them that he was adding Frisk. (He only does this after having a discussion about it with Nick in dms to make sure it's okay and won't be weird)

Frisk doesn't really look at it a lot since she prefers just talking to Sans, but she does enjoy having access to everyone she considers her friends.

Uses the groupchat as a personal hype train. Will send a picture of her trying on a cool alternative outfit at the mall like "what do you guys think? Any suggestions to make it cooler?"

Midas, Nick and Maeve give actual fashion advice, meanwhile Alphys and Jonas are always too busy telling her how pretty she is.

Sans doesn't know how to feel about it... contemplating on kicking her but so far it's been sweet and innocent. He's weirdly more active.

Probably doesn't mean anything.

Barry Allen is already in so many other media that this one is tricky to answer. Of course I’d like to see our Barry Allen on the big screen, played by Grant, but that’s never going to happen. But it’s a nice thought. But I think I could enjoy a book series called ‘Barry Allen Solves Mysteries’ or something, where it’s just Barry Allen, well, solving mysteries. Very cosy ones - not much violence or risk involved. And sometimes he goes home for dinner and talks to Iris about how he solved the mystery. And if there’s ever any reference to his life as the Flash, it’s in passing comments, like ��What do you mean you need me at STAR Labs? I’m on the verge of solving this mystery Cisco! It’s my actual job, not my silly running around hobby! Yes okay but this person is already dead so they take priority… what do you mean that’s not how that works”

We’re both neurodivergent? (I jest, but writing my ADHD Barry headcanon was a big reason why I got myself tested a few years ago, and whaddya know?) But seriously, I think it’s his dedication to a cause. He can get a little bit, shall we say, obsessed with uncovering the truth or seeking justice or solving a problem (for over a decade, sometimes). I get you there, Barry.

No one thinks it’s funny when he it uses it all the time. Especially not Iris, when she says “Are you on your way home?” and he replies with the running person emoji and turns up an entire second later with that ridiculous grin on his face. Despite the team’s protests, he still texts them all with the running person emoji about a thousand times a day. Sometimes he just sticks it in the group message when there hasn’t been any activity for a while, just to get a reaction. They’ve tried ignoring him but it doesn’t help.

17 What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?

Coldflash used to be like that for me, but I sort of accidentally got really into it - in no small part due to you, so thanks, I think :D And I really never used to like coldflashwave, but it grew on me, and now I’m at ‘fine with it’ point there. I even have a favourite coldflashwave fic that I re-read recently!

I'm gonna go on a dumb rant but this means a lot to me because it just hurts so much thinking about it. I feel stupid and silly and immature getting this worked up over it but also entirely justified and valid in my feelings and I need help (more under the readmore)

so I've been reading the manga for Bocchi the Rock after having finished the anime (no spoilers in this rant, don't worry) and even before having started reading it, I had come across all the major 'gay Bocchi' meme panels and i was definitely keeping an eye out for them as i was reading

(also i was reading it at https://bocchitherockmanga.com/ which for reasons i will get into I do NOT recommend AT ALL. all the issues i'm about to talk about aren't there in the mangadex version)

i've gotten through most of the series with no issues whatsoever, until I got to chapter 58. These latest chapters were being scanned by someone new to scanlations as a whole, and in particular bocchi stuff (I won't name names because that's not what this post is about, you can find who to blame just by reading it yourself from anywhere that isn't mangadex)

I was very keenly on the look-out for this panel, because for very obvious reasons it's become a very popular bocchi meme:

...but reading the version i was reading, not only were there very blatant grammar and spelling issues, but when i finally got to the panel-

what the fuck. what the fuck is this bullshit

"I've it's been popular nowadays..." doesn't make any fucking sense and had i not read the other version first i might not have understood what it was trying to say, and all of the text is so horrendously scaled and placed so awfully

but the real issue is in that "fine print":

"I already know the scope of the test, and it seems I'm going to be that one big-breasted popular girl on the exam!"

what.

the.

fuck.

this makes ZERO FUCKING SENSE given the actual illustration, i know bocchi has big boobs in the manga but WHO'S THAT GIRL WITH THE BIG BOOBS, HUH??? WHAT'S HER SIGNIFICANCE???

it doesn't take an expert to realise that what bocchi's saying here doesn't even make any sense if she's not even the one with big boobs in her fantasy of what will happen if she repeats a year

now i always lean on the side of never attributing to malice what can be attributed to stupidity, and i was ready to just assume this was a piss-poor translation

but i found the scanlator making a post on the MangaDex forums about the situation, and in it they said this (reminder that the panel in question comes from chapter 58):

so it was intentional. it was a person actually trying to censor the original intent of the author because they didn't like that there was gay representation.

...

i'm done. i'm so fucking done with this.

"i have given up on the lame goal of censoring bocchi the rock" yeah that's a little too late pal. the damage this guy has done is still apparent because in almost all of the places online, including the TOP RESULT for searching "bocchi the rock manga", they still use this guy's awful, rushed, and - let's be honest - homophobic scans instead of the new ones that are actually good.

oh and of course only one guy in the thread actually calls out OP for censoring it in the first place, and then another guy backs up OP and that's the end of that.

these things are small, but it feels like being queer is just kinda not possible nowadays. everyone tries to take it away from us and it's inescapable, even in the places we go to in order to get away from all the bullshit and awful stuff happening in the real world.

stuff like this seems minor but it sends a very real message to queer fans of stuff like this:

we can't have anything.

Why do you like or dislike this character? i like grooves because he has a lot of complexity to his character. i like that he's not JUST outwardly nice and has selfish qualities to him. it's just very interesting to talk about and explore. though i also love that he's completely earnest in his behavior too.

Favorite canon thing about this character? i think it's probably how he was voice acted that REALLY makes me like his character and find it to be effective. his VA has a lot of range and portrays his character very well.

Least favorite canon thing about this character? i always agonize about this but i wish he got more of a role in the game beyond his chapter. especially because if you choose conductor as the winner, grooves' character is basically forgotten from there on out. i just wish he at least had more of a presence in the finale of the game, seeing as all the other characters get something to say but he didn't. (except cut dialogue lines that DON'T count at all :////) also more grooves merch please gfb.

What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? one of the songs i relate to grooves is 'two evils' by bastille and 'rhythm of the night' by corona. two evils i feel describes grooves and conductor's relationship very well and rhythm of the night is another one that i feel suits him on vibe (tho i also like to relate the bastille cover as well, if on the basis that that ver implies enduring the same thing every day after day and the whole thing driving someone a bit mad)

What's something you have in common with this character? we both love music, musicals and love to dance!

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? i absolutely love when people explore his character and also make content of him being close to the kids. i love grandpa grooves content with my whole heart. i also like when people create content that explores his feelings on everything that has happened to him.

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? treats him as less important or interesting than conductor and also when people's only perception of his character is when all people have to say about him is just "he's gay." like it's fine of course to explore his sexuality when exploring his character but i just don't like when that's ALL people have to say about him. and him being an afterthought to every other character. 😔

What's something you don't like? i like to describe his actions in a certain flared and outwardly perfect way while him being extremely flawed. i also like exploring his thoughts and feelings on things. what i don't like is trying to come up with things he would say sometimes as sometimes i feel like i don't know exactly how he'd express them. technical stuff related to his job is also hard for me too but i try my best lmao.

If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like? i kinda mentioned it before but things that go in-depth with his character are my favorite. something i don't like is him not being given the same complexity as other characters (which is a common issue) and exclusively to discotrain stuff is when people just treat him like an accessory to conductor and never explore him beyond surface level. i haven't read much fic but i always seen this as a problem.

What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them? uhhhhh i can't really say atm? grooves is rather unique to me so it's hard for me to compare him to other characters. at least in the fandoms i'm a part of there's no characters i could really compare him to? i have seen others draw parallels to him and other characters but most the time it's characters i'm unfamiliar with.

What was your first impression of this character? How about now? to be honest, when i was playing hattytime for the first time, i didn't think all that much of him. originally i did kinda prefer conductor but not in a like 'he's better' way but more like conductor's personality is really strong and stood out more initially.

having conversations with people and seeing a lot of fan content about grooves made me realize that FUCK he's a really good character and then i started looking at canon content with a whole new light and suddenly my favorite character was dj grooves.

I wanted to stay in tune with Rise and Chronicles, I think Yojimbo is a little too dark (miyamoto commits genocide against so many anthro warriors PER ISSUE how are there more of them to kill dawg how do they not know to leave my mans alone oh my godd) and yeah I wanted it to be upbeat, a little silly, has some dark themes but shouldn't be overly agonizing, they're kids after all.

Title: Not Another Flowershop AU

Summary: Caspar Bergliez is on summer vacation but is working most of it as his father put him in charge of his flowershop.

Caspar isn't particularly pleased about it but loves to help out his dad so he's not too bummed.

…it also helps that it's because of this shop that he meets the cutest guy he has ever seen.

This story takes place in the same au universe as my Ashez multichapter fic Not Another Coffeeshop AU. You do not need to read both to fully enjoy either story. I just love connecting my fics. It's fun.

Chapter 5

"Dorothea! I really don't think you get the importance of this date. I need to impress him!"

The brunette in question raised a perfectly manicured brow as she glanced at her other two companions. Caspar watched as Dorothea, Ferdinand, and Hubert all appeared to have a silent conversation between the three of them.

Honestly, color me impressed, the mint haired teen thought to himself.

After what felt like forever, but was likely only a minute—maybe two, the three turned their attention back to him in unison. He was reminded for a brief moment of that one owl gif meme from forever ago but ultimately let the stray thought go as he focused on their response to his predicament.

"Well, you mentioned that he is very studious but conversely lazy as well?" Hubert asked.

Caspar nodded.

Hubert glanced at Ferdinand who smiled at his boyfriend before looking at Caspar once more.

"Keep it simple then but put your own unique twist on a classic. For example, instead of dinner and a movie, why not take him to dinner and then to Ashe's bookshop."

Caspar could have kissed him.

Or well, not really since he highly doubted Hubert would be on board with that and would likely actually murder him. Ferdinand also wasn't really his type for all that he was very attractive. Too high maintenance.

Taking the safest route, Caspar made his hand into a fist and slapped it against his other palm.

"You're a genius. Or well. All three of you since I'm guessing it was a hive mind sort of decision."

Dorothea laughed, Ferdinand chuckled, and even Hubert allowed a little smirk.

"Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all day."

Caspar and Linhardt had agreed that morning to meet back up at the flower shop at 7. Caspar was early but kept checking his phone anyway, worried any moment he'll get a text from the other teen, changing his mind.

"Good evening."

Caspar jumped. He was sure it had to have been at least a foot in the air, that's how badly he'd been surprised.

"Oh dear. I'm sorry, Caspar. I always forget that I'm generally quieter than your average person."

Caspar just stared at him.

"Generally quieter? Linhardt, that was like some freaking ninja kind of stuff! I swear you had to have come from the shadows or something."

Linhardt laughed deeply at that before shaking his head with what looked like an amused sort of smile. Caspar couldn't help but beam at the thought that the other was already having a good time.

"Oh, that's just silly. You're cute."

Caspar, not at all expecting—and therefore, very unready for—the flirtatious compliment, blushed a deep crimson. And to add insult to injury, he had the unfortunate thought of how much his face must have been clashing with his hair.

"Linhardt! Dude! You can't just say things like that so- so casually like that!"

Linhardt tilted his head in the way that Caspar was growing to love.

"Why not? There isn’t a law prohibiting me from paying compliments to my date."

The grin on his lips was playful, but all the shorter male could think about was kissing them.

Caspar groaned. "Because you're making it really hard for me to not want to kiss you."

Linhardt blushed. It was light, almost faint, but it was there. He smiled though and moved in closer.

Linhardt was quite a bit taller than him, but in that moment, it felt like he towered over the mint haired teen.

"Then stop trying and kiss me already."

And it was in that moment that Caspar’s brain blue-screened.
