Writeblr for newbies
So you joined Tumblr to talk about your writing. Maybe you're published and you want to promote your works, or maybe you're wanting a supportive community of fellow writers, or maybe you're just writing for the hell of it and want to show the world your blorbos.
Welcome!!
Tumblr media
Being a part of the writing side of Tumblr is a little bit like being in kindergarten and all the kids are talking about their imaginary friends to each other. Except some of the kids have published stories about their imaginary friends in real books you can buy. It's so cool.
I have made some wonderful friends on Writeblr, I've ARC'd and beta'd books for people, and I've gotten a lot of warm fuzzies from sharing my snippets and my characters. It's somewhere between self-promo and group therapy, but it doesn't feel like either. It feels like a wonderful community of writers supporting each other.
The Writeblr lingo can seem a little intense at first so I thought I'd set up a guide. If I've missed anything lmk!
WIP - stands for 'work in progress' (plural: WIPs). Any piece of writing (or poetry, or any kind of art) that isn't completed yet. This might be the first draft of a story, or the nth draft of your novel, or the not-yet-posted chapter of the fanfiction you're writing. WIP is a state of mind: it might be nearly complete, or it might just be an idea with a few hundred words attached to it. Talk about it as much or as little as you want.
WIP intro - a totally optional (and honestly a lot of hard work sometimes lol) post explaining the main themes/background/plot/characters of your WIP. Something you can link people to so they good a good idea of your WIP and what it's about. Similarly, character intro, for individual characters within a WIP, often with art/picrews.
Tag game - the lifeblood of Writeblr! In its most basic form, someone tags you in a game, you play the game, then tag other people you want to play the game. Lots of people do 'open tags', which you can also pick up. These games can range from making picrews of your characters to posting a snippet or multiple snippets. A few common ones at the moment (these change often!) are: Find the Word (the tagger gives you words to find in your WIP, you post a short snippet for each word, then give the people you tag new words to find); Last Line (you post the last line(ish) you wrote, or wrote recently); 9 Lines 9 People (post 9(ish) recent lines, tag 9(ish) people). There are so many more, and new ones being created all the time.
Blorbo - your OC (original character) that lives in your mind rent-free. The one(s) you would commit war crimes for. You know the one I'm talking about. In addition, blorbo trading and sharing is encouraged in the Writeblr community.
Ask game - a post that you reblog, usually containing a list of prompts or questions, that encourages your followers to ask those questions in your ask box. It is friendly to drop an ask from the game to the person you reblogged the post from.
Weekly asks - if you've asked to take part, questions about your writing in your inbox, related to a certain day of the week. There's Worldbuilding Wednesday (WBW), which are questions about worldbuilding, Blorbo Blursday (OC questions), and Storyteller Saturday (STS), questions about writing in general. These questions can be very generic and vague, or can be about specific characters/stories.
Pinned Post - basically, an 'about' page. Talk about yourself, your WIPs, the kinds of things you like, whether you want to be involved in Writeblr games, whether your asks are open. You don't need one, but it can be a handy reference point for your followers.
Taglist - sometimes, Tumblr posts get lost on the dash. If you are interested in a particular WIP, ask the author if you can be put on their taglist, so you can get notified every time they post about it. They will love you for it, seriously!
Overall, on Writeblr, it is always encouraged:
to talk about your stories and characters as much as you like. People might not follow along at first, but they'll get on board!
to reblog others' writing/snippets/promo. We're all relying on each other for our sanity here, and a nice comment in the tags never goes amiss either!
I'm sure I've missed something - feel free to add!

Chained ⛓️ NEW CHAPTER
A Klaus Hargreeves murder mystery
Tumblr media
A/N: Greetings, mystery fans! This chapter is a lot longer than previous chapters because it’s a pretty important one plot-wise. I hope the wait was worth it. Oh, by the way, did I mention Allison turns up in this fic? 🫢😮
We are so close to the end now I can almost taste it. Please share your thoughts, feelings and theories in the comments! 💚💚
Special thanks to @allisoooon for the highly sexual textual art - I love it (and you) so much!
CW: Drug abuse and other typical Klaus stuff
Tumblr media
Snippet from Chapter 29: Family
“Hi, sis!” Klaus tries, giving her a little finger wave which he hopes comes across as cute and endearing.
Allison says nothing, continuing to stare at him. It’s a powerful tactic.
“Okay, I know what you’re thinking. And I’m sorry, okay? For whatever it is you’re still mad about.”
“You know the fact that there’s more than one possible option of things to be mad about isn’t a good sign, right?”
Klaus lets out an exasperated sigh. She was never going to make this easy. “All right, all right. I’m sorry about the car. And the curtains. And the time I let your dog get run over by that motorbike. And the magazine…”
Allison cuts him off. Her jaw appears to harden even more. “You told them my hair comes from Russian corpses.”
“It doesn’t?” Klaus asks with a blink.
Allison purses her lips together. “No.”
So that’s the thing she’s still mad about. At least they’re making progress.
“Gee, Allison, come on…”
“You also told them I’d had work done,” she spits.
“Well, I didn’t think they’d believe me! You’re so naturally pretty, everyone knows that.”
That last comment elicits the slightest flutter of her eyelashes - almost imperceptible. But it’s a sign that Klaus is wearing her down, chipping away at her defenses. If there’s one thing Allison can’t resist, it’s a compliment.
He takes a step forward. “Look, I’m sorry, sis. It was a stupid, selfish thing to do. But I was broke and I needed the money. If you let me in, I promise I’ll make it up to you. And I won’t break any of your antique furniture or steal any of your fancy knick-knacks, I swear.”
“And..?”
Klaus gives her a reluctant nod. “And I won’t put magic mushrooms in the punch bowl. Scout’s honour,” he adds with a salute. He takes another step towards her, closing the distance and offering his arms out. “Come on, I’ve missed you, sis.”
“I’ve missed you too,” she admits, if somewhat begrudgingly. Allison releases her pout and shrugs her arms out in his direction, bringing him in for a half-hearted hug.
He squeezes her and he feels her shoulders give in to his embrace, the last of her prickliness melting away.
“You better behave or I’ll rumour your head down the toilet.”
“I know,” says Klaus, squeezing her a little harder.

Hey I’m new to tumblr and want to start posting some of my writing for people to read and comment one. Do you have any tips on WIPs, drafts and how to get attention on it? Very new to this space so I don’t really know how things are done.
Hi! First of all, welcome to Tumblr (and Writeblr)!!
The first thing I recommend you do is make a Writeblr intro post and tag it #writeblr intro. Introduce yourself, what genres you like to write, who some of your inspirations are, what your WIP(s) is/are about. You can scroll through the tag to see what others have posted if you need ideas.
You can also make WIP specific intro posts and tag them #WIP intro. These tend to include images that match the vibe of your WIP and will also contain a blurb of what your story is about and a snippet or two of your writing.
For any writing you post - snippets, full chapters, WIP intros, OC intros, single sentences from your WIP - you can also make use of tags like #writing, #writeblr, #writers on tumblr, #fiction writing, #creative writing, #original writing, and genre specific tags like #fantasy writing. Put the five highest trending tags first to guarantee your post shows up in them.
Another great way to grow your blog (and help your writing find an audience) is to interact with other writeblrs. Follow the people who reblog your intro post, send them asks (and ask games like Story-Telling Saturday (STS) or Worldbuilding Wednesday (WBW)), reblog their WIPs, jump in on open tag games. My post for how tag games work can be found here. The more people get to know you the more people will send you asks back, tag you in games, and most importantly reblog your WIP posts so they can reach a wider audience.
You can also specify in your bio if you are ask/tag game friendly. You are more likely to get tags/asks if other writeblrs are certain they won't be annoying you haha.
In general, posts containing links to original writing hosted on other platforms (google docs, wordpress etc.) tend not to do as well as posts that contain the writing itself. I've also heard that posts with images and interesting titles tend to do better. Same with formatted paragraphs and dialogue as opposed to a single, huge text block.
Another thing you can do to help readers find your work is make a master-post for all your WIPs and pin it to the top of your blog. List each WIP, then add hyperlinks below (in reading order) to each post containing snippets/excepts from it. [To make a hyperlink: click on the three dots on the top of the post you want to link to, select "copy link", then go to the post you want to link from, select the text you want to link, then ctrl+v. This will be your end result.]
In settings, you can also feature up to 10 tags that you use for all content on your blog related to specific WIPs. This will help make it easier for readers to search for and find your content too.
My last bit of advice is to talk about writing on your blog (and use the tags). Make little jokes and memes, those "oof relatable" kind of posts, and make and reblog writing advice from time to time. It is the hard truth of WriteBlr that these posts get a lot more interaction than original writing does but they do serve to get your blog seen by more people because they are short, relatable, have wide appeal, and/or low-effort to read. Strangely, they seem to prompt people to check out your blog. I tend to get a small wave of new followers every time one of my posts reaches 100 notes or more. I can only speculate as to why this is.
I hope something in here helps and good luck!
If anyone else has any tips feel free to add on!

Welcome to Writeblr Support!
Welcome! We’re a team of writers who formed this blog to help support other writeblrs. A few years back, most people moved to Twitter for interaction and that left very little in the way of content and interaction for anyone here on Tumblr. But with most of us being new, we’re trying to build up a new community with everyone!
We reblog and share writeblrs across the entire community, and we hope to reach as many people as we can. Want to get your content shared around? Feel free to send us an ask or a DM!
Get to know the mods
Sabel - he/they, 20, and has been writing for a little over a decade. Currently working on my main project The Shifting Tides, but also has a side project called Don’t Clip My Wings. Loves sending out and receiving asks. Is pretty much just here to give you all excuses to talk about your blorbos. Main blog is: @basalamander-corner.
Locke - Any pronouns, 21 y/o. I've been writing for nearly my entire life. I'm minoring in creative writing, majoring in psychology, and I'll be lurking around the blog to help with tumblr coding, organization, and tagging. Main is @lockejhaven.
Rules and FAQ
We don't reblog AI generated writing. We consider it to be stealing from actually writers, and it’s unethical in nature.
If your writing seems to promote racism, antisemitism, queerphobia, ableism, sexism, etc. we most likely won’t reblog it. It’s okay to explore those themes in writing, but if you seem to hold those beliefs yourself, we won’t reblog it.
Want us to reblog your content? Feel free to send in an ask with what you would like reblogged!
We do reblog 18+ content, but please make sure that it is tagged appropriately!

So this is gonna be my official first Tumblr though post and update on what I have planned I guess. I thought about it a lot, I may begin posting little snippet prompts featuring Solus' past and his present life alongside Lae’zel and Xan as well as their little moments together through the bg3 acts. Inspired by fellow artists/writers and questions asked about Solus, I think I want to futher flesh him out. Getting into both the thoughts and emotions of Solus, Lae’zel and other bg3 characters both oc and already established. They'll begin as little comic sketches, something I've always thought of doing and even finishing but haven't dedicated myself to for a while. It's faster to just write😅. But for now we'll start small, I'll provide sketched imagery and eventually move on from there. I have some stuff already written out, just have to edit it, make it read and sound somewhat appealing and readable as I can.
Also big thanks for the reblogs, likes and new followers, I greatly appreciate it, keeps me going and glad my art reached you all.💙💚

"In the end, we'll all become stories."
Tumblr media
About me:
Hello there! I'm Sage, a 21-year-old writer, and student who goes by they/them pronouns. If anyone is asking, I've always been asexual. Writing has always been my passion—it's where I feel most alive, pouring my heart and soul onto paper. I've even turned this passion into a side hustle, selling my written works to those who appreciate it.
While writing is my main hobby, drawing also holds a special place in my heart. It's my creative outlet, a way to unwind and let my imagination run wild. You'll often find me doodling in my sketchbook or experimenting with different mediums, though it's more of a hobby than a profession.
But let's be honest, most days I have motivation for neither and will be binge reading instead. It is the perfect hobby for me as it is probably the closest I will ever get to teleportation.
Also while most people might disagree with me, math is fun. I like math for its confusing, and afterward making sense ability. It is something that helps me keep busy.
As for my personality, I'm a loving and carefree soul, always looking for the beauty in the world and eager to spread positivity wherever I can. But some days, just like werewolves in the moonlight, I turn into a villain. *evil laugh*
On my blog, you will mostly find snippets of my writing, from short stories and poetry to essays. I also share glimpses of my artwork, if I feel confident about it, or other things like reblogs. I welcome asks and DMs about mostly anything, and I am open to discussing any topic so please don't feel afraid to reach out. Anything I write or draw can be used as an inspiration or prompt and it could be reblogged but not reposted without a proper link for credit. I also look forward to feedback on where I can improve.
When it comes to ethics, honesty, and authenticity are important to me. I also try to respect the perspectives of others. I am not comfortable with making explicit sexual content (ex. sex, NSFW, rape, underage), hate speech or discrimination, highly controversial or polarizing subjects (ex. politics/religions), body horror, gore, or other extreme violence. I don't appreciate reposts without credit, but you can always continue the stories I write.
Coming to the end, if you're looking for a blend of writing, art, and a sprinkle of sunshine, just like the perfect coffee that can warm you to the core of your heart after a cold day, you've come to the right place. Welcome to my little corner of the internet—I'm so glad you're here. :)
My Masterlist is where all my stuff is linked so it is easier to access.

important: the new harry is louis’ baby fic fest schedule!
okay, so! we had a total of 5 votes in the past week, which was a little less than i’d hoped to get, but still definitely enough to work off of! the lovely @louistomlionson did a count & noted that we’ve had 50 fic fests this year when we usually have ~33, so it’s definitely understandable that by the last month of the year, many people are a bit burnt out by writing & fests! with all that being said, the winner was option C -- no deadline; make the fest ongoing.
the following is the new fest schedule, rules for the fest & links for the forms!
schedule:
the fest is now an ongoing fest which means:
prompt submissions are reopened & will be open for an indefinite amount of time, so feel free to continue submitting prompts! the link to submit a prompt (+ the link to see the google doc of already submitted prompts) is in the ‘links & forms’ section. they can be canon, AUs, etc! as long as they include and/or embody the harry is louis’ baby trope in some way, they’re good to go!
sign ups for writers are open & will stay open! the link to the writers sign up form is also in the ‘links & forms’ section.
sign ups for betas are also open & will stay open! however, i will begin to compile a list of available betas as people submit forms and will add onto it as i get new submissions. you can find the beta form in the ‘links & forms’ section too. anyone who signs up to beta is welcome to request the removal of their info from the available beta list at any time whether it’s for a period of time or indefinitely.
there will be no deadline to submit fics -- writers can submit them whenever they are ready to do so. the link to the ao3 collection is here! if you have any problems, please feel free to reach out to me for help.
fics will be revealed in the ao3 collection by 5 pm central time the day after they’ve been added to the collection. tumblr posts will be reblogged once they’re posted, so don’t forget to tag this account! there will be a pinned post for all fics written for the fest that will be added onto as fics get revealed into the collection.
rules for this fest:
although this fest isn’t inherently a nsfw / 18+ fest, you must be 18 years of age or older to participate, just for the safety & protection of everyone.
you can write about any & all forms and variations of larry!
fics are allowed to have more than one author - if you want to write with one or more friends, go for it!
there is no minimum word count for this fest
this will not be an anonymous fest; you can absolutely post snippets of your fic as you're writing. be sure to tag this blog & use the hashtag to be reposted as well!
any fics submitted will not be moderated content wise, so please use common sense & best judgment when it comes to things like tagging your fic correctly/appropriately. just because something is not a trigger to you doesn’t mean it isn’t a trigger to someone else. readers deserve the right  to be able to go into a fic fully informed on what is going to happen in the fic. if there are any genuine, reasonable complaints about tags, writers are expected to adjust/fix their tags accordingly.
you will need to post your fic onto ao3 and create a tumblr post for it.
you may write as many fics as you’d like for the fest!
links & forms:
if you’d like to submit a prompt for this fest, you can do so here!
if you’d like to see the submitted prompt list, you can do so here!
if you’d like to sign up to write for the fest, you can do so here!
if you’d like to sign up to be a beta for the fest, you can do so here!
thank you to everyone who responded to the little makeshift poll & helped boost the post/gave their support in any way! as always, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out! :)

WIP Weekend Game
Tagged by @scarcrossdlvrs and @patchworkgargoyle and @starryeyedjanai
Rules from the original post:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.
File list:
Crown of Thorns
Nightswimming (Steddie Bigbang)
The Prophetic D&D Game
Time Travel
Chart:
Tumblr media
I'm only putting up the 4 Stranger Things fics from my last week for now but I suspect I will also write things from other stuff tomorrow because Weekend Writing Marathon is having a super sprint Saturday tomorrow and I usually try to write a lot on those. Join us, if you want.
Snippet and Tags beneath the cut
Snippet from Crown of Thorns. Do you want the little bit of Rockie I'm writing in? 'Cause that's what you're getting:
“We’re going to go stay with my aunt Gertie in Kansas,” Vickie said. “Mom didn’t want to at first, because they have a new baby and absolutely no room, but they offered, so off we go. At least I can still help by babysitting, I guess? I hope we can come back soon.”
“I hope so, too,” Robin said. They were just wrapping up their shift and more workers were coming in to relieve them, and she didn’t know how to say goodbye. “I mean, I’ll still be here, so I can call and give you updates when we get the all clear?”
“That’s so cool that your parents let you stay,” Vickie said. “I’m not brave enough to stand up to mine.”
Vickie reached out first for a hug, and Robin felt awkward about it until she felt her really squeeze tight. She tucked her head against Vickie’s and whispered, “I’m glad you’ll be safe.”
When they pulled away from each other, she could see that Vickie was on the verge of tears. “I don’t actually know my aunt’s phone number,” she said, “or else I’d write it down for you.”
“Oh, here.” Robin grabbed a pad of paper and wrote Steve’s number down. “I’m staying with Steve until this all clears up. He’s basically running a halfway house for his stubborn friends who won’t leave. Like he’s one to talk.”
Tagging: I want you to know that I keep a running list of writers now and I've gone through to edit out the ones who have already been tagged in the two WIP weekend posts I've seen so far. This is the rest of my list. It is long and distinguished (sorry not sorry).

Writeblr Intro!!!
Tumblr media
A quick run down & random facts (lol!):
My name is Paulina. I'm 26 and I’m a fellow Brooklynite!
I'm black (Haitian-American)
Red velvet cake is the best cake out there! No one can convince me otherwise!
I'm an aspiring writer with dreams of being traditionally published one day.
I have too many WIPs to count! (50 or so, to be exact)!
For a potential follower, if you like diverse, nuanced, complex character driven stories with plots galore, I'm your gal!
I'm also a mythology nerd (my fav. being Greek mythology), but I'm interested in learning about other mythologies out there! (Norse, Japanese, Mayan, African, etc...)
Night owl, bibliophile, bookworm- that's ME!
I'd totally wear a book scented perfume!
I love reading YA & Adult books. My go-to genres are contemporary (love, love, love character driven stories that pack an emotional punch! I'm also a sucker for love stories (fav. tropes include, but not limited to- enemies to lovers, best friends to lovers, found family, second chance romance...), literary fiction, historical fiction (pirates, queens, royal intrigue, vikings, major historical events- the world is my oyster!), historical fantasy, fantasy (I love extensive realized worlds!!!), & science fiction (cyborgs, A.I., robots, oh my!)
On this blog, I'll share character profiles, worldbuilding stuff, and snippets of my WIPs. I'm also a fan of reblogging fashion, gorgeous artwork, & other images that I connect with! I'm looking forward to getting to know more people in the writeblr community & hopefully getting more followers as well! My ask box is always open!
Some of my WIPs:
My main WIP is a YA contemporary fantasy series titled Kingdom of Ichor (new & improved title!!!). Think Greek mythology mixed with the TV show Euphoria & a small dash of Gossip Girl. It's a modern retelling or "remix" of Greek myths. Each book will be dual POV, third person. I'm currently working on a 1st draft on the first book- Of Flowers and Darkness, a Hades & Persephone retelling
My Life is a Telenovela!- a standalone YA contemporary following the misadventures of an aspiring screenwriter named Lucia at her performing arts high school in Miami. Her parents are well known telenovela stars.
The Rat Pack- a standalone YA contemporary about five Florida teens (who are best friends) that go on a road trip across the United States before going their separate ways for college.
Gorgeous Gems- a YA contemporary companion series following three sisters (who are also identical triplets!) and their lives in Cleveland, Ohio. The first book will follow the eldest triplet. The title is Shine Bright Like a Diamond!
Kissing in the Dark- a YA historical fiction story following a gay Jewish teenage boy named Max. It takes place in 1969 in NYC against the backdrop of the Stonewall Riots.
The Zenith Chronicles- a YA science fiction trilogy that's set in the futuristic cyberpunk city of Zenith. The first book is gonna be a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood titled Savage Red.
One of my Adult WIPs is about a young Mexican woman who makes the drastic choice to work for a ruthless cartel, bringing forth all her dark & deadly desires. The working title is Sicaria.

Hello! Since I’m binge reading all of your Genshin fanfics I wanted to ask how would you describe your experience contributing to zines? I’m considering it and wanted to ask someone who’s done this before. Is the process fun? Stressful? Both? I’d assume writing with a deadline is not easy! When did you first start? Don’t spare details please, tell me everything about your experience! I have minimal knowledge on the topic
Hey, there! I'm glad you're enjoying my Genshin works!! And of course, I've been in about three fucktillion zines by now so I'd be happy to talk about what it's like! Long post under the cut:
Not all zines are the same but most of them follow approximately the same outline of expectations for you as a contributor, which is:
After you've applied and been accepted, you're sent an acceptance email with a link to the zine server.
You join the server, and after a few days for everyone to trickle in, the mods will post a spreadsheet or a google form where you can submit 2-3 pitches, aka. ideas of what you think you could write for the zine, which should be reasonably different from one another. The reason for having 2-3 is so that not everyone ends up writing the same thing. I prefer when zines give spreadsheets rather than google forms so that I can see what other writers are pitching and make sure I'm not submitting something samey. There will likely be guidelines for what you can pitch (limitations on characters, ships, rating, etc).
(Optional) Some zines do author/artist collabs, and this is usually the time period during which folks figure out if they'd like to collab, and if so, with whom.
After a week or so, you are told which of your pitches you will be writing for the zine.
Creation period! Now you write a fic based on your pitch, usually 2-3k words in length depending on the zine. There's usually 3-4 check-ins scattered throughout the several month period that you get to write during, when the mods basically want to see how far you've gotten to make sure you're making progress. Sometimes you have the option of asking for feedback, but often the writing mod isn't going to be doing that until your final piece is submitted.
At the end of the creation period, you submit your final piece, usually with some formatting stuff like "highlight every time you use italics so the formatting mod can see it." The writing mod will beta it, toss it back to you so you can accept edits, and then that will be the final version in the zine. Voila!
Everything after that is just you waiting for preorders and production. Other stuff that will probably happen at some point includes submitting a snippet for the graphics mod to make a little preview graphic of your piece, and reblogging/retweeting zine stuff during preorders to promote sales.
To answer your more specific questions:
I started in late 2020 when I applied to a Hawks-centric My Hero Academia zine at the same time that I was invited to a My Hero Academia and Harry Potter crossover zine, both of which were an amazing experience. I find that the deadline is really not a source of stress, because you get several months to write 2-3k words and each check-in is only asking for a little bit of progress. My first check-in, for example, is pretty much always just the outline. That said, I'm not really applying to zines anymore (unless something exactly up the alley of my current hyperfixation pops up, which at the time of writing would be a Hazbin Hotel or radiostatic zine, haha) for a few different reasons.
Firstly, I've legitimately been in four dozen zines. I've scratched the itch, haha.
Secondly, particularly in the Genshin Impact space, the zine craze caught on so aggressively that the average quality of zine mod teams declined pretty sharply. There are a number of zine mods that I really trust, and I've been in some phenomenally run zines, but I'm also just kind of tired of the physical production period of a zine taking a year or longer when I know it can be done in like three months. Not to mention the number of times people in the zine space have straight up absconded with money.
Thirdly and most importantly, the actual part of zine writing that I don't enjoy very much anymore is the limitations put on my writing. It's an inherent and understandable part of the process that a fic has to be within a specific word count and topic, but I also have just hit the point where I personally want to write whatever the hell I want without coming up with three separate fic concepts and hoping that the one I actually feel passionate about is chosen - not to mention I've actually ducked out of zines before when the mods were so nitpicky about what they wanted me to write that it felt less like I was a guest writer invited to create something of my own, and more like they were looking for a cheap way to basically custom commission writing from me. And I've also noticed that the pickier the mods are about my writing, the less I end up liking what I create. There's actually three zine fics, now, that I'm never going to publish because I just don't think they turned out very good, and they are all from zines where I felt my writing got micromanaged.
All of that said, I'm basically highlighting the small number of things I disliked out of, again, four dozen zines, so I really encourage you to go for it! A well-run zine is a blast to be a part of, and my favorites have always been ones where it is clearly a labor of love and genuine interest.
Here are some tips when choosing a zine to apply to:
Look at the mods and their pages, and look for mods that have completed zines in the past, but aren't currently part of 4+ incomplete projects. For mods, you want experience, but you don't want someone who's just jumping into every single project they see.
Every P4P zine I've been a part of has been fucking amazing so far. These only get made in certain fandoms, though (mostly danmei). I'm sure they're not all perfect (there's one I know that's a little sketchy), but I think the lack of promise of profit attracts people genuinely invested in the project itself rather than money or clout or whatever.
Pick a zine that you know you will enjoy writing about the subject of. Don't apply to something because you like the character it's about, but you don't actually really know what you'd write for it.
Make sure they have a reasonably large number of followers on Twitter and appealing graphics. This speaks to a couple of things: 1) how well the zine is likely to sell and 2) how well the social media and other mods actually know what they're doing in terms of promo. If a zine has less than several hundred followers and they want to put out a physical copy, I would personally hesitate, because there's a good chance they won't break even on sales. Especially in the Genshin Impact fandom specifically.
Hopefully that was helpful! If you have any more specific questions, feel free to throw them my way.

Hi gang! I've had this blog since high school, but somewhere in college it fell into disuse and disrepair. I've been itching to get back on here, as a space on the internet that's not...ya know *gestures at the Twitter-sized elephant in the room*. But I also wanted to go in with a fresh coat of paint and reintroduce myself to y'all, maybe even make some new friends (or enemies. That could be hot.) A lot has changed!
Wait, why do I follow you?
Statistically, you followed me because of Wolf 359! I was big into podcasts back in the day, WTNV, Wolf 359, all those. I also wrote some Wolf 359 fics and was semi-active on the discord. Still fondly remember the show and might reblog fanart once in awhile, but it's not the direction this blog's going to go, so feel free to unfollow if what up I'm to now isn't your jam.
What's this blog about now?
Wouldn't you like to know, weatherboy? Frankly, I'm ADHD as fuck, so that'll vary by the day, but I have a few fandoms (do we still say fandoms in the year of our lord 2023???) that I've been into lately.
Dimension 20: I started watching D20 a little less than a year ago, and it entirely took over my life. It's just a series that's so robustly funny, wonderfully told, and never fails to make me smile. I'm especially fond of ACOC and Fantasy High.
Dracula Daily: I'm in this shit for the long haul! I think Lucy and Mina should kiss, but that's neither here nor there.
Game of Thrones/HotD: This show ended in a trash fire, but it literally lives in my head rent free. The political intrigue, the drama. Ugh. I'm a targ girlie through and through, so I've been eating up HotD, though it's nowhere near as good imo. Am also currently reading the 1st ASOIAF book.
YA lit/Whatever I'm reading/watching: I've read almost 50 books this year so far, and am frankly, insane. Bonus points for queer reads! Not many people to talk about books to irl, so might ramble about them on here instead. Also watch a lot of random TV drama and some anime.
Writing: I'm a fanfic writer, and a fiction writer in general, so I'll post stuff about writing--complaints, story snippets, link to my fics, etc! Headcanons and all will be found here. I've also copyedited before, which is like writing but if you get even more nitpicky about it.
Personal/Whatever the hell I feel like/My D&D Games: Life happens and sometimes you want to scream into the void. Ramblings, jokes, whatever. I transed my gender in the past few years and sometimes I'm mad about it! I also just graduated college! Madness! I play a lot of TTRPGs, and I'm usually on brainrot for one of my characters at any given time.
Why's your new username that?
One of my favorite book series is The Scholomance by Naomi Novik, and in the series, Maleficaria are the horrifying monsters that threaten to kill the students every day, and what is tumblr if not a place full of vile, evil beings? Plus, it means you all can call me Mal.
Anything else?
Nope! Other than to feel free to drop me a line and say hello, especially if you want to scream about D20. I'm p alone in this brainrot irl, so I'm pretty much always down to talk about the Bad Kids... especially Adaine and Fabian. I'm also always down to take fic suggestions in my asks! This show genuinely lifts me up when I'm down, so sharing it with people is one of my favorite things.
My fics (shortlist):
In Sweetness, There is Violence: Angsty ACOC one-shot about if Ruby had made a different choice in the finale. Obligatory Caramelinda Caramelinda-ing.
the words i speak are wildfires: A HOTD one-shot I intended to be smut, that ended up instead being more like a romantic sapphic moment of healing between Alicent and Rhaenyra. What can I say? I like childhood friends to enemies to lovers.
Stay Stellar: An unfinished (and, very likely, discontinued) 15-chapter high school AU for Wolf 359 that I wrote with an old friend. Featuring some truly crazy shenanigans, a lot of embarrassing Kepcobi moments, and a surprising amount of theatre.

About This Blog
Tumblr media
Hey, this is the little gremlin again, and since most tumblr users have some sort of 'about' page, I decided to create one. And also because why not?
Note: This is my main blog. Likes, follows, asks and replies are from here. It is also my writing blog, where I post my own writing and sometimes reblog other writers' works.
My Masterlist
Natalia's Masterlist
Not interested in all the semantics and just looking for the writing? You can find all my writing in the link above, as well as my master tag list All the other info, like rules, squicks, my special tags and some background info can be found under the cut.
About the person behind this
You can call me Natalia.
My pronouns are she/her
I'm straight
I'm 17
I'm a college first year majoring in engineering
I'm not sarcastic at all, no no no. And my non-existent sarcasm doesn't catch people off-guard at all, no sir. Totally serious 100% of the time. Even my url says it.
I write stuff here, and the details r in the next heading
I'm a minor, so please dni if you're going to discuss inappropriate content
Wanna spam my notifications? Go ahead, I'm not stopping you. I actually encourage it, lol.
I like fandoms, caffeine, chemistry, math, reading and writing (*le gasp), and a whole lot of other stuff!
I'm not mean, I promise. Just a little, snarky teen haha.
I look nothing like my pfp.
I'm a villanous assassin!
I have undiagnosed high-functioning anxiety, may have ADHD and I experience obsessive thoughts. So please, no hate on ND ppl here.
I'm fine w/dms! (as long as they're not creepy)
My fanfiction sideblog is @so-hot-i-make-hell-jealous
My silly, non-writing sideblog is @yoursssstruly
My Writing Rules
I may be an anarchist, but I need some rules here.
Stuff I do write: hero x villain (supervillains, sidekicks and whatnot too), hurt/comfort, and I might post snippets of a story I'm working on and whump, fluff, maybe some crack, and romance!
Stuff I DON'T write: NSFW content of any kind, smut excessively dark whump (I get anxious with things that take it too far), incest, pedophilia, rape, emetophilia, and while I do write romance, suggestiveness is toned down and I don't write nsfw romance.
Do not ask me to write anything I said I don't write. It's pointless because I won't force myself to write it.
I don't write make-outs and kisses on the lips
You can totally use my writing for inspiration, as long as it's tagged as a prompt, you can use some lines, but just not the whole thing word for word, provided that it's tagged as a prompt. You can continue it, even if I've done a continuation.
If you use any of my prompts, please give credit and tag me! I'd loveee to see what you come up with!
Anything tagged as NOT A PROMPT is not for use.
I DON'T appreciate reposts, but I do love reblogs. Don't hesitate to use super long tags, analyse it or give lengthy commentary, I'm actually down for that stuff.
I don't mind my stuff being reposted on other social media as long as you give me credit. NO reposts on Tumblr, please.
Pairings are usually gn/gn. The other alternative is f/m
I typically write hero x villain, but I have other non-hero x villain stuff out there! Like fantasy, sci-fi and certain fragments of my wip (some of em are actually h x v!)
I don't really do xreader fics.
Ask Box
Don't be afraid to send me an ask!
Please don't ask for any of the stuff I told you I don't write
I may take some time to respond because I have a crap schedule
I might not answer asks if I don't feel very comfortable writing them. No hate, I just got on this app for my own fun, so I don't want to force myself to do smth I don't like, and it'll probably come out as a crappy piece of writing anyway
You can ask me about non-writing stuff too! I don't mind talking! Just please don't make the questions too. . .creepy.
Don't use the ask box to harass me. You'll probably regret getting on my nerves
Favourite Tropes
Where do I even start? I'm very indecisive.
Enemies to lovers
Alliance of convenience
Fake dating (turned not-so-fake)
Two whumpees caring for each other
Scary, unhinged hero x terrified villain (who's probably secretly in love w/them)
Flirty x flustered
Whumpee gets revenge on their og whumper, preferably through violent murder
Morally grey characters
Found family
Heavy angst w/a fluffy ending
Psychological manipulation
Cocky hero x flustered villain
Warnings
Because some of my content may be triggering to some people. I typically include trigger warnings above my posts in red, and I recently started putting them in the tags, too. Please note I don't condone any of the harmful stuff here IRL. I write FICTION, not meant to be used to judge me morally. ✨️Lmk if there's anything you want me to add here!
Violence
Blood
Bruises
Betrayal
Implied torture or past torture
Mental health issues
Manhandling
Drowning
Abusive relationships
Yandere whump
Bone Fractures
Failed escape
Miserable (I write sad stuff sometimes)
Threats
Fear
Description of torture aftermath
Occasionally, torture
Lying
Burns
Restraints
Usage and mentions of weapons (guns, knives, etc)
References to a difficult past
Vomiting
Starvation
Scars
Self-harm
Obsessive thoughts
Fear of heartbreak
Criminal activity
Death
Somewhat graphic descriptions (they aren't too horrible, but they may make some people uncomfortable
Non-con touch (not sexual)
Drugging
Poison
Kidnapping
Hostage situation
Exhaustion
Stress positions
War/war aftermath
Captivity
Fever
Delusions
Hyperthermia
Very flirty (Listen, I generally write pretty light stuff, but they can be seen as juuuust a little bit spicy, and different people interpret things differently, and I won't judge people for seeing things a certain way, but in case it makes you uncomfortable. . .)
Adding on to the last point, this kind of fic will contain touching (not sexual), kisses (not on the lips), and pretty flirty remarks (nothing sexual)
Smoking
Alcohol/use of alcohol
Squicks
I write violence n all, but I have limits. I will NOT write anything mentioned here and will refuse any requests with these.
Eye, mouth and ear whump
Extreme gore
Whipping
Branding
Vore
Amputation (unless it's a fantasy monster that has to die OR it's environmental whump. Someone doing it however, nope)
Muzzles (I'm fine with gags, though)
Collars
Sadomasochism (some of my characters are sadistic, but non-sexually. Also, no masochistic characters)
NSFWhump in general, (whether extreme gore, sexual assault or sadomasochism)
Anything I don't write in the Rules above
My Tags
Aside from the usual tags on writing, I like to add my touch to a few of them. You may see:
#nat writes
#a little gremlin's writing
#natalia's writing
And for asks
#the little gremlin answers
When it isn't about writing
#not writing and/or #natalia.txt
When I like it, but it isn't mine
#not my writing
When you can read, but you shouldn't USE
#NOT A PROMPT
Timezones n next days (yes, they're self-reblogs)
#timezone reblog
#next day reblog
To clarify
#hero x villain -> just means it has a hero and a villain. can be platonic, familial, just enemies or romantic (this applies to any A x B)
While. . .
#hero/villain -> means the pairing is romantic. (applies to anything with a slash)
I know other ppl use them differently, but that's how I do it. I typically tag with genre to help, like #romance or #friendship
And the most important rule of all
HAVE FUN!
Xoxo,
The villainous assassin
❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

✍🏻 WRITEBLR INTRO
👋🏻 Hi, I'm Winter. I write dark, emotionally intense fiction about queer disaster-people who collide against a backdrop of moral bankruptcy and surf the downward spiral hand in bloodstained hand. It mostly ends well for them though, because I get pretty attached to them and apparently readers do too (which is why I appreciate all you twisted beautiful souls so much).
🌈 I write a lot of LGBT+ characters so it feels relevant to say that I’m an LGBT+ character too. I know that might not matter to my readers, but it matters to me and it impacts my creative perspective as well as my perspective on life in general.
📝 I don't write explicit sexual content because it's not my vibe (not a genital in sight here, folks). That said, if you're uncomfortable with themes around fictional violence, drug and alcohol use, and angsty kink in stories aimed at an adult audience, I might not be the ideal writer for you to follow. Not everything is for everyone and that's OK.

WiJ 2023 - 01: Introduce Yourself
WiJ 2023 Navigation Post
(I'll put my favourite tropes under the cut because this post is getting a bit long, oops lol)
Re-Introduction
I've been in the Tumblr whump community for a couple of years now, but hello and welcome to everyone both old and new to my blog! I'm emc, and I'm an Australian writer and artist specialising in the bloodthirsty subject matter we all love here on whumpblr! I mostly reblog at this stage, but I love to participate in community events, and have plenty in the works :)
I create original whump works. I'm only in one fandom, Danny Phantom, so I will occasionally reblog stuff from there.
Project Updates!
I'm completely, totally obsessed by one singular whumpee... so everything I work on centers around him... lol
Anyways, so, it turns out that SP multiplied...
Shifting Phases - This is gonna be a loooooong fic lol, but! I'm making good progress, and I've managed to stay inspired and motivated for +6 years, so you can count on it getting finished, no matter how long it takes :)
10 of 59 chapters are drafted, one of which is pending review,
8 of the remaining 50 chapters are in progress,
The word-count as of writing this post is 23.5k.
I'm sure a few of you have followed for this fic/pieces of the boi, and I think about that constantly especially since it's still a major wip lol ^-^' Not worry, I will not rush uwu
I'll link the masterpost of it though because I keep it updated with my progress, and also any good snippets I write :)
Full Moon Waning - Because I'm horrible and have so many thoughts all the time, I've actually started planning this; the sequel to Shifting Phases! I think I have some cool whump ideas, and it provides another chance to explore the worldbuilding and character backstories, so I think it has a lot to offer and will be fun to write :)
Plotting; jotting down vague ideas and arranging them in a semi-coherent order.
Eclipse Descending (AU) - Oh this one is incredibly fun and fucked up, and somehow manages to be SO much darker in which Pete falls down a terrible path and becomes a hunter. It goes about as well as you'd expect lol. I explained the premise to a friend and she wondered, since it was so compelling, why it wasn't canon, and man, that's a fun thing to hear. It also means it's gonna be an absolute behemoth...
Plotting and detailing scenes simultaneously.
Caesar Salad (AU) - Remember how I said I wanted to stab my whumpee during the Ides of March? Guess which concept got WAY out of hand XD It will be a much shorter fic, but it's still a major project. It's an alternate secret reveal, so, it's an AU.
Detailing the scenes while trying desperately to come up with a resolution ^-^'
Anything Else? - Yep! I have a few other little scene/whump ideas that I'll eventually write out, but for now, I just keep them stored in a little au/idea doc. I'm still also working slowly on my BTHB card, and also the gift and several treats for the exchange I mentioned earlier, but I shan't be spoiling those :)
Favourite Tropes
Those of you who've been around me/know me will find that I am indeed very consistent XD Some of my favourite tropes include:
Bad caretaker/s
Collapse
Compromised mobility
Dehumanisation and animalisation
Domestic abuse
Emotional whump
Environmental whump
Hyper/hypothermia
Long-term injuries and scars
Near-death of the whumpee
Nightmares/Night terrors
Nonhuman whumpees (usually vampires, demons... and especially mer)
Panic attacks
PTSD
Restraints, especially creative ones
Secret angst-- whumpee having to keep their species/identity secret for their personal safety, and because they fear they'll be rejected by the ones they love most
Severe sickness
Species-specific whump
Starvation
Transformation whump
... and so many more...! Also, caretakers and whumpers are not necessary for me to enjoy the whump ^-^

It's New Year's Eve!!
I just wanted to take a little time to reflect on the year and celebrate it and say a ginormous thank you to everyone who has taken the time to drop by around here!! It's been a blast getting to share the Thunderbirds love and I love writing for TAG so much!!
This year had some major highs and lows for me which we're not going to dwell on, because the most important and fun thing is the spreadsheet I set up at the beginning of the year has had it's final update and I have numbers and graphs to happily geek out about!!! Naturally there's some skew - particularly with anything pertaining to AO3 since fics published earlier have had more time in circulation but still, I think it's made for a pretty good overview :D
Numbers and sappy feelings and reflections and things under the cut (there's even some pretty pie charts)
I published 45 separate works this year - many were short ficlets and subsequently gathered into the Thunderbirds Snippets collection which was the "fic" that overall had the most engagement (pretty impressive when you consider the collection only has AO3 stats!). This came to a total of 43,456 published words for complete stories (plus a whole slew for wips! At least another 20,000 is languishing in other documents :D We'll see those come out to play soonish, I'm sure)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As is usual for me, the overwhelming majority of fic this year was short oneshot stories. In fact I didn't finish any multichapter stories this year! Just didn't have the time for that kind of commitment for most of the year :D I also relied a lot on people giving me prompts and I'm endlessly grateful to them (especially @janetm74 and @katblu42 who sent me prompts nearly every time I asked!). I would have spent a lot more time feeling sorry for myself and languishing in writer's block without them bolstering me along <3
Tumblr media
As you can see, I did make a fic genre graph, but I'll be honest - this is something I need to tweak for next year because I don't feel the genres well reflect what I actually wrote. This is partially because I only made space for each fic to have one genre, and partially because I dont think the genres I picked well described the writing I did. But looking it over, there's a clear emphasis on family dynamics and the ups and downs that go along with them and I do think that's my favourite part of writing.
Tumblr media
When looking over the characters that called to me the most this year - Virgil's our clear winner! Which I think is hilarious because I feel like I wrote with a large Scott emphasis at the start of the year and a large John emphasis towards the end. But the numbers don't lie!! I think partially guiding this is that I wrote a lot more drabbles for Virgil (and Gordon.... lots of them two together!), but Scott and John got more substantial stories on the whole. Maybe. I'd need to check the raw data :D
In terms of people - I am totally blown away by how generous people have been reading my work <3 I see you and it's an absolutely humbling thing to see the same names cropping up over and over again, returning to read my stories which I don't often have a lot of confidence in (fake it 'til you make it, right?). Somehow getting an overview of the whole year only reinforces that and across AO3 and Tumblr I have nearly 4000 thank yous to say; one for every like, kudos, comment, hit, reblog, reply, whatever <3 Many many of which are being given to the same people over and over again, you guys literally rock hardcore and when I think about that number I'm literally so overwhelmed. It's easy to post something that only gets a couple of notes or kudos or whatever and feel discouraged, but when you look at the whole picture? Unreal <3
Now for the fun part; I've gone and taken all that data and figured out what my top 5 most popular fics of the year have been (excluding the snippet/prompt collections :D) so here goes!
Consequences [tumblr] | [AO3]
Cave In [tumblr] | [AO3]
But Not Forgotten [tumblr] | [AO3]
Roommates [tumblr] | [AO3]
The First Time [tumblr] | [AO3] and Hard Places [tumblr] | [AO3] (tied!)
Hey did you know typing [ tumblr ] did that? New things learnt every day lol...
Amazingly, these didn't line up with MY favourites nearly at all! So I've listed my personal top 5 stories below <3
Capture Comfort [tumblr] | [AO3]
The Scare Floor [tumblr] | [AO3]
Consequences [tumblr] | [AO3]
"Prompt Generator #5" [tumblr] | [AO3]
Different Universes [tumblr] | [AO3]
I'm not much for goal setting; it reminds me too much of school and sitting in stupid form classes with zero ideas as to what to say because apparently writing "I want to do my best and enjoy myself" wasn't a good enough goal. So instead I have some ~~intentions~~ that I'd like to carry into 2023 <3
Get better at replying to comments >///< I don't mean to ignore people and I know most of you know that but I do think replying to comments is! an important aspect of community building in fandom and I've neglected my part in that :P I love you all I swear and there's a lot of people I'd like to get to know better <3
Deep breaths here because this one does scare me - I want to write and finish Where Parallel Lines Meet. The scope of this fic scares me but I do love it and I know that it's going to push me a lot. It's going to be great though <3
ARCHIVE AS I GO LIKE WHY DO I NOT DO THAT (it's the titles rip)
This one isn't writing - I just want to rewatch Thunderbirds :D
Finally I've got some specific people to thank. You've all been amazing and kind to me this year and I'm giving you all the giant-est hug. You're also all incredible storytellers and writers and artists in your own right and I am genuinely so thankful to know you all <3
@gumnut-logic - I know I say this constantly but I LOVE getting to geek out about all sorts of different things and I have to say thank you for reading over so many of my fics and picking me up when I think that they're terrible <3 You're the bestest friend and I'm very lucky to have met you :D
@katblu42 - I love your very cheery chats that we've gotten to have, lots of laughter and fun and you always have such sensible advice it's great. Thank you for diving in and not missing a beat when I get randomly dramatic about whatever I'm writing because even when I've completely failed to explain the context you always seem to know exactly what's what :D
@janetm74 - you've been such an incredible cheerleader and every time (because you've done it multiple times!!) that you go through my AO3 and read stuff and comment in quick succession is always so exciting and overwhelming because what the heck?? Remember those 4000 thank yous I have to give - I'm pretty sure at least a thousand of them are yours <3 Thank you as well for sending me all the fun space things you think I'll enjoy and also for egging me on when I'm spouting off silly ideas in response :D I'll need to give them all a proper go someday!!
@gaviiadastra, @the-original-sineater, @godsliltippy, @mariashades, @amistrio - I've so enjoyed getting to know you all this year - you're all amazing writers and totally inspiring and very kind to boot :D I love how unique you all are and how you all bring such amazing ideas to life and I have to say thank you for both chatting with me but also for sharing all your wonderful work <3
@squiddokiddo thank you for be a very consistent source of encouragement and fountain of kindness when I'm having down days in my personal life. You didn't know me at all but that never stopped you from reaching out and checking in and given that this year was beyond shitty in many various different ways it meant the world in ways that I didn't always know how to express <3
oh and there's so many more people - I've had the good fortune to make some amazing friends and I love you all very much.
I don't think I'll get the current chapter I'm working on done today, so this will likely be my final post of the year (although lol I'm sure I'll still be mucking around on my main) and I KNOW this is sappy and you're not meant to put emotion into the data, but it's pretty damn difficult when the numbers are made up out of friendship and people reaching out from across the globe to say "hey, me too <3"
So see you all in 2023!! I can't wait :D
